Getting to be our hone away from home. 6 hours from salt lake but it keeps getting shorter. It’s hot but the water will cool you off.

Be sure to spend sometime on or near this waterway. The scenery is stunning. You can visit a restaurant for drink and food or rent a boat or jet ski. Whether on or near it’s a must see experience.

Lake Powell is a beautiful lake and, with so much to see in the area, we are considering a return visit and a houseboat rental!

So we were Lake Powell Newbies. We didn’t rent a boat and when we went for our long weekend, there were none available. We checked out their swimming beach, it was a 3/4 mile walk down to the lake on very hot sand, down hill, uphill on the way back. The beach very rocky and hard packed and you have to be careful because there are rocks in the lake as well. Water shoes are a must. Water was ok, a bit murky, some weeds and a sludgy bottom. If you either have or rent a bot or wave eunner etc, it would have been great.

From East Coast, and being on lake Powell was an amazing experience. Beautiful scenery, amazing people- my kids loved this more than seeing the Grand Canyon. If you are vacationing to the west coast- make this a must see!!

We visited in the middle of winter, so cruising and holidaying on the lake was not an option. But what really impressed us was the scenery, with the large buttes, cliffs and natural features in stark colours in contrast to the blue lake and the white snow scattered around.

We enjoyed our brief visit to Lake Powell. We took a 3 hour boat tour via the Marina. While costly it was worth it. We also took a quick swimming break in the lake near the campground. Overall, a nice excursion. Well worth a visit.

All of the roads that lead to the Lake in the Page area seem to have tolls. We parked near a neighborhood and hiked.

We drove around the lake going through different viewpoints. Unfortunately, we did not have time to go take a river cruise but I believe the best way to enjoy it is to actually be in the water. Make sure to allocate time to do a cruise when you visit

Several tours available by boat and well worth the trip. Do not go to the "marina" which is actually the boat launch. Boat rides are at the hotel check-in - signs do not tell you this. Entrance fee to the area payable on the way in

First time boat renter at the Wahweap Marina, September 2021, a "Weekender" for about $1,200 for the day. It's a 32' pontoon boat with a waterslide, 4-person bar, a couple of refrigerators an a toilet. Comfortable bow seating.
PROS: Lake Powell is simply stunning, even as low at the water level is at the time of our renting. We boated past the Antalope Marina (about 1+ hour away) and explored a narrow canyon. Give the view and lake itself 5 stars. The boat was comfortable but showing its age. I'm not an experienced boater but I thought the steering linkage was loose; the boat did not respond to small steering adjustments. The staff helped us get our bags and gear from the parking lot to the dock with a smile.
CONS: We drove up from Sanoma, arriving about 9 AM. Turns out you have to have the boat back by 3:00 pm to avoid late fees. Our boat's battery was not charged so the marine radios would not operate unless we waited 45 minutes for a charge. The marina instructor was helpful and apologetic and help renegotiate a "No late fee" accommodation due to their delay -- so we could return the boat after the marina had closed at 4:00 pm. After 45 minutes, the battery was still not charged, partly due to the power station the extension cord was plugged in to was turned off -- so a wasted delay. We checked the Weber barbeque grill out while we were waiting. The three-burner grill was worn out; the knobs were useless and the burners would light, just barely. Not enough to grill anything. We swapped the propane tank that likely wasn't completely empty, thinking that would fix it. It didn't. We headed out on the lake without marine radio. The worn out grill never worked so we made cheese sandwiches. Bottom line, the boat wasn't ready and the BBQ grill needed replacing.
Average -- 3 Stars. The late was amazing. The boat was, in hindsight, overpriced for just several hours out on the lake. The worn out grill was a big disappointment, notwithstanding the late return fee waiver.

We only stopped at the overlook very briefly, but the views are stunning and the colour of Lake Powell itself so so deep .

The lake was lower, but it and its setting are so pretty. The recreation area is terrific for families. Recommended.

We went durning monsoon season and got caught it a heck of a storm. It did slow us down and we didn't get to see as much as we would have liked but what we did see was beautiful! Cant wait to go back again. Next time we are thinking of camping or getting a houseboat.

Since we were in Page, we decided to stop at Lake Powell. We only wanted a view of the lake but were charged a $30 entrance fee. Seems a little steep. The lake was down; therefore wasn't as spectacular as I'm sure it is when it's at it's regular level. Maybe because we did not swim or boat I wasn't terribly impressed. I guess if you're in the area, it's the thing to do, which is why we stopped, but it's not a place I need to see again.

The Adventure Buddies went to Lake Powell and had the best time renting a power boat and all the water toys! So many sights to see from Antelope Canyon, floating restaurant, you definitely need a map of the lake to appreciate its size and so you don’t get lost! The water is clear, lots of house boats and speed boats but still enough space in this lake for all to enjoy!!

Lake Powell is truly massive, backing up water hundreds of feet deep and hundreds of miles long from the Glen Canyon dam (Page AZ) to north of Hite Utah. You can't get the whole scope from the dam or Wahweap Marina, so if you are able take a boat tour out on the lake itself. The canyon country around has rims that still rise above the ever changing shoreline is still so remote and rugged there are no crossings between those two points. In fact there are not even any towns or highways. The area is mostly roadless except for the isolated, remote and rigged 4WD roads from Escalante to Hole in the Rock on the Colorado channel and the roads to Paiute Farms and Clay Hills on the San Juan arm. Rainbow Bridge is about 90 miles by boat from Wahweap or a three day hike across the Navajo reservation around the canyons that run down like gnarled fingers from Navajo Mountain.

Early in the morning, we went to Wahweap Marina to make a wonderful 2-hour cruise on Lake Powell, which is the second largest artificial lake (5058 km²) in North America.
We learnt that artificial Lake Powell:
- was created by the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam on Colorado river in 1963;
- is very large, being 300 km long and having 3,380 km of shoreline!!! It is also 170 meters deep!
- is the second largest water man-made reservoir in the USA!
- has a very jagged shore, with more than 90 canyons!
During the cruise, we were amazed by the wonderful panoramic viewpoints on the lake and with ocher and red-orange rocks with incredible shapes. The narrow and winding canyons were majestic. The contrast between these colorful rocks reflecting in the water and the blue of Lake Powell was striking!
Lake Powell is an oasis of freshness in a rocky dazzling and breathtaking desert landscape with fantastic canyons!!!

There is no way to accurately describe Lake Powell. It is huge, It is so beautiful. Water is clear. So many canyons to go up and explore... We will return. Next time for longer time.

Nice ride along the edge of Lake Powell. Water is low. Scenery is interesting. Rock formations. View of Navajo Mountain.

This was a very relaxing 1-hour boat ride from the National Park. So peaceful and educating. Thank you to our captain, Candace, for sharing so much knowledge.

The is a beautiful place with spectacular views and natural scenery. It is easy to find on google maps and plenty of free parking. Do miss the dam, bridge and information center, which are equally worth while.

We very much enjoyed our tour boat ride up the lake to Rainbow Bridge. They provided headsets that gave explanations of what we were traveling by and understanding of differences of arch & bridge, and mesa & butte among many other interesting facts about the area. It was a 7+ hour tour, they provided water, coffee and lemonade for refreshments. We brought along our own lunch in a cooler, we ate after the Rainbow Bridge hike at the mid-point of the tour while we had back south. The lake is awe inspiring, the rocks, the buttes, the mesas, the points, the canyons, the inlets, the birds, the fish, the everything ... just soooo big you can't really get a full appreciation.

You can see the lake from highway 89 and we were going to stop in for the view and to stretch our legs. However the fee didn’t make it cost effective for the small amount of time we had. The Glen Canyon Dam was free and you can see (and better understand the purpose) of Lake Powell.

While the water level is low it was still worth going to. We saw the damn and that was very pretty as well.

We stood at the Wahweap campground with our RV and the window faced to Lake Powell - great view to wake up !
Enormous lake and appears nobody is using it in September for water sports ....

You just can’t get enough of this beautiful lake! We got in the water at designated “beach” areas. Arizona is gorgeous!

I was early for my Antelope Canyon tour in Page so I turned into the Lake Powell Natl Park simply because I had an annual NPS pass. Not much to do since I wasn't getting on a boat. The lake looks low, but not as low as Lake Mead. Restrooms were clean. The overlooks inside the park are nowhere near as spectacular as the Wahweap Overlook which is right off the highway and not inside the park so it was free. If you just want a view of the water do that instead.

Really a lovely spot for an overnight to take in both sunrise and sunset. If you stay at the marina a lake view room is a must.

Well the staff was at least very nice to my family and I, and the lake was beautiful with great fishing (we didn't know how to bass fish that well but still caught quite a few). But when it comes to the house boat-
Within the first five minutes of boarding the houseboat there was a spider on the bed so old it crumbled up when we picked it up to throw away. During the trip there was so many spiders and that really annoyed me because I hate spiders. The staff could at least be good enough to actually clean the boat.
Another thing we noticed day 4. The sewage smells HORRIBLE.
The last thing I want to say is the wind is bad too. When the wind picked up it almost blew the generator cover off (The screws holding it on were poorly put in and some were missing.
If you like beautiful scenery, good fishing, spiders, and the smell of sewage, come on down to Lake Powell!

We booked a Navajo Canyon boat tour that left from the Wahweap Marina at Lake Powell Resort. They used a small tram to transport people down to the marina. The boat was spacious, with 2 levels. The upper deck did not have a cover and offered sweeping view during the boat ride.
We went to the Glen Canyon Dam, then Navajo Canyon, and Navajo Tapestry, First you zig zag to get out, quite interesting sceneries. They provided water, coffee, and lemonade on board.
A very relaxing way to enjoy Lake Powell. The tour took about 3.5 hours to return. We got to see many house boats, kayakers, other boaters. It made a very pleasant morning.

If you want to see around a part of Lake Powell, this is a great way to do so. Scenic Cruise Adventures is located in the resort and lasts about 2.5 hours. They have a deck on top with an unobstructed view as well as a shaded area below. There are light water and lemonade refreshments and an audio tour that highlights the different parts of the tour. The captain and other staff member was super friendly and answered all kinds of questions. The views were spectacular and moved at a pace that didn't seem rushed or too slow. Great deal for what you get. Highly recommended!

Stop by the visitor center at the Glen Canyon Dam for some of the best views. Staff was very knowledgeable and shared lots of information that was not available in the center. Lots of parking

Truly a remarkable lake that our family has enjoyed for over 40 years. To experience it the most, if you are houseboat savvy, rent one out of Antelope Point or Wahweap Marina and stay on a beach by Gunsight Canyon. We take our ski boat, paddle boards and jet skis for play time.

Houseboated for a week, went to Friendship Cove, took a boat to Rainbow Bridge, fished for small mouth bass, hiked on the many beaches, and just loved this place. It gets pretty hot in summer, October was a bit wet, but nice. Watch out for flash floods during summer monsoons. Can be very dangerous. I will come back here again.

A great place to go swim with amazing views. We did not do any boat tours, but stayed at the campground and swam at the nearby "beach".

Took a scenic drive along Lake Shore Drive from the southern to the northern entrance of the park. It is part of the NPS and requires the park fee. The views of the river and Navajo mountain were awesome. Enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of the area.

We camped at the local CG in the park. The campground was lrege and pretty busy for early October. The lake is pretty, especially against the colorful rocks.

This place is not only stunning vistas but super packed with loads outdoor water activities and also hiking nd biking. We loved the water sports, kayak rental and ability to cool off on super hot summer days loads hiking as well. Tip book way ahead to get spot in RV park

We spent 5 days camping at Wahweap campground right on lake Powell. There is a marina to rent boats and all sorts of ranger programs, including an astronomy gathering with telescope viewing.
The lake and canyons are absolutely stunning.
Hint: National park passes do work here, so you can avoid paying the entry fee if you bought an annual pass

Beautifull place especially during good weather with sunshine and blue sky! Nice to sit on the bench and just observe or take a boat ride through near by canyons event in November. Bring your camera - too many things to see and to remember!

Loved seeing the lake and dam surrounded by the canyon. Easy access and accommodating workers at the museum.

The lake was beautiful my family and I really loved the breathtaking views and swimming. My only problem was with the lady at the entrance pay station named Judy Madlak this woman was very rude to me and my husband because we asked her for directions and she said look it up on google I don’t know. So immediately we felt discouraged since we have never been there. Then I Told her it was our first time and that the way she answered our questions was very rude, then she said I was being bitchy and shut up. I had tears in my eyes I’m not confrontational. So that put a damper on our trip. If she has no people skills then why work at a state park? Anyway god bless her.

Took the boat cruise on Lake Powell today. Went up the Antelope and Navajo Canyon. Wonderful opportunity to see the lake and canyon walls. Very windy today, but still a great cruise.

I was on the way to Vegas from Page and I did a pit stop. Spend some 30 odd minutes, enjoyed the serene beauty surround by the canyon. Lake Powell straddles the border between Arizona and Utah and is one of the most popular land-locked aquatic recreation areas in the United States. This is not only because of its sheer size at 24,322 K acre-feet but because of the rugged beauty and geologic wonders surrounding its shores. Thousands of miles of shoreline accessible only to those whose have a houseboat and a speed boat attached to it. There is a rainbow bridge which is one of the biggest nature made arch in the world, accessible only by boat or 14 miles trek.
Beautiful display of nature among rocks.

Despite the unusually cold weather, Lake Powell is a true gem. We did the boat tour, kayaked and hiked to horseshoe bend. Amazing memories and views!!

Staff was very helpful and kind. They gave us a lot of helpful tips. Everything was very nice and clean. Lake was beautiful! Definitely will go back!

If you're in an RV, you'll find this campground awesome. Lots of trees and shade. If you're in a tent, it's a different story. No trees or shade of any kind. The lake and boat tours are awesome. Be wary of the cleaning staff if you go for an early morning swim. My young son and I had a "lady" open the door without knocking then she just stood there yelling us while we were naked to not be cheap and use the showers. Tried explaining we just got out of the lake and that's why we were wet then she threatened to call the police on us. Worst part of the trip and something I'm sure my son won't soon forget. I'll give it a 2/5 because of the cleaning staff.

Nice lake cristal clear water, rented a kayak and paddled down the lake into a canyon. Great experience and a nice day with nature.

I loved our boat ride on Lake Powell. It lasts about an hour. It is narrated. As you near the dam, the canyon narrows and there are beautiful red rock formations all around you. Beautiful place for photographs. The boat provided water, which you need. It can get quite hot.

I've never seen anything like it. I'm from TN and we are sold green which I love!!! The colors of these rocks are unlike anything I've ever seen.

We didn't spend time on the lake, yet we did stop in the marina and visit the area to get a few pictures of the stunning views. Such a beautiful lake nestled in the high desert. We will certainly make a point to spend a few days on the lake on our next visit.

Our family enjoyed the most spectacular natural environments surrounding the beautiful lake. All of us joined simple folk dance and singing led by the friendly ,cheerful captain on the boat. We enjoyed surprises and unexpected. It’s really memorable !

This is by far the worst Company I have ever dealt with. We rented a 73ft Houseboat for a week for 10K. They called us two days before and asked to arrive promptly at 9:45am. We arrived at 9:00. No one there to talk to. Just a phone number and leave a message. We waited for an hour finally helped ourselves on the dock. Woman checked us in and said she'll call when the boat is ready. No call after 2 hours we went back to the dock. They said, they'll call but a few more hours. At 2, we were then told they're doing the best they can and another 3 more hours but they will call. There is NOTHING in Bullfrog. No shade! No food NOTHING. We drove an hour back to get food and ice because everything was melting. We came back at 5 and were treated like we had done something wrong. They got mad at us saying if we'd leave them alone they could get our boat ready. I asked why they didn't tell us at 9 that it wouldn't be ready until the next day. They just kept saying we will call you. At 7 we went back to the dock...and asked when the boat was going to be ready and that we weren't leaving the office until its ready. They demanded us to leave. We had $1,000 worth of food that was going bad in the sun all because this company kept telling us the boat would be ready.

This lake is trash, no shade, nothing to do. There was this fat guy on a jet ski that kept scaring all the fish away because he would only ride it for 5 min at a time. Dont waist your time, book a trip to Ruidoso NM. Way better.

The city has beautiful views in all directions. We went during winter but would like to come back in the summer sometime.

Lake Powell was amazing! It was our first time and we were aware of the lower lake levels. We rented a 59' houseboat and 21' speedboat from Aramark at Wahweap for 5 days. Both were very good with minor issues. We hit something in a shallow spot the first day out and called the help number on the radio. We got help in about 4 hours. Loved our spot in Gunsight Cove and exploring Padre Bay, Rainbow Bridge, and Labyrinth Canyon. We rented paddleboards from a business in Page. It was all beautiful and great time with our adult kids!

We stayed in lakefront room. Lovely & unexpected room for a fishing resort. Very clean & earth conscious. They make recycling very easy with bins everywhere including in your room. Service is pleasant. Chase, at the desk, was very helpful & got us in our room a little early. The restaurant was amazing too.

This place is gorgeous! Just Gorgeous! We did not plan a boat ride this time but will do so next time. There are several beach areas where you can get in and enjoy the water. I love Arizona!

My first trip to Lake Powell was more than 15 years ago. It was basically a pass through to go to Antelope Canyon - before anyone really knew what Antelope Canyon was.
This time, Page and Lake Powell was the destination. And it's just as beautiful as it was years ago. We found an overlook (free) above the entrance to the Glen Canyon Recreation Area and we also entered the NP for dinner near the Lake at the resort within the NPS.
I believe during our visit the water level was very low and was a concern but shortly after our visit, there was quite a bit of rain and now the level is higher than average.
It's a beautiful Lake and very worthwhile to find the vistas and overlooks to enjoy the beauty of Lake Powell.

Interesting place if you have time before or after your scheduled antelope canyon tour. Good view of the dam from the bridge. Then take a ride along the river. Good access to the beach.

This area is picturesque and great for family outings. Marina, stores and restaurants are conveniently nearby. There are also places to rent various water toys and boats.

From the Lone Rock beach to the Wahweap marina and Rainbow Room restaurant, our long weekend visit was a homerun! We have already booked our 2nd trip back in just a few weeks!

What a nice travel experience! We drank wine and ate hors devours with the setting sun overlooking the marina at Lake Powell Resort hotel inside the Lake Powell National Park. It was quiet and comfortable lounging around the fire and watching the sun light up the evening sky. We got a good deal on our room and really enjoyed ourselves and the setting!

We took a boat tour at marina point, and enjoyed the tranquility of calm water, that was at its low tide point, canyon looks amazing when view from lake water. We were thinking of eating in marina point restaurant but even in march it was closed due to weather.

A steep walk down (and back up) to the dock (buggies are available); and a need for a sun hat if you travel on the upper deck. This cruise up to the Antelope Canyon was an excellent taster to get an overview of the area. It was relaxing and felt safe. The views were more than photogenic. Spectacular shapes and hues all round. The commentary was informative and entertaining.

We went on a boat trip on the lake. It was a very hot and sunny day but the sight was very nice. Make sure to take your camera, sunscreen, a hat & sunglasses as well as water. Our boat had free potable water.

800 for day but brand new 28 ft pontoon boat we cruised the lake with its canyon walls and towering vistas . We hardly encountered other boats . Breathtakingly beautiful we ate lunch drank beer and enjoyed the lake

We took the tour boat cruise to Antelope Canyon. First, you get a view of the Glen Canyon Dam from the water and then you travel to the very winding canyons. Really great, dramatic views. Much interesting narration about the area, the dam, the Indian heritage, etc. Very efficiently run and the staff was very friendly.

We wanted to visit Lake Powell just to see for ourselves the severity of the drought that has been ravaging the west for years. We're from Oregon and it is affecting us too but seeing Lake Powell is a real wake up call. We need to be electing people that will do whatever they can to help with climate change - no blame here on anyone particular, we all need to help.

Boating, kayaking, paddleboarding.....lots of different options available. You can see Antelope canyon from the water --pretty canyon without the wall-to wall tourist that are in most of the slot canyons.

This is my favorite place for R&R. The lake is beautiful, calm, clean water and very good for water activities.

We drove from Las Vegas to Lake Powell, the driving part was longer than expected but truly scenic. I had planned to rent a boat for a couple of hours at the Antelope Point Marina boat but they close very early so we had a late lunch at the hotel in wahweap resort facing a natural beauty. It was spectacular. We woke up early to see the Horseshoe bend which is another rare gem, we finally visited the Carl Hayden center which is very interesting but time was limiting otherwise I would have stayed in the area. We moved then to the Grand Canyon.

We had a boat trip in the canyon and heard that the water is 150 meter deep and its crystal clear because its melted snow from the mountains. Reddish stones, blue sky and blue water. Great!

Really like the views. It was expensive to drive the road (National Parks charged $20) but the views were great. Even through we were there over spring break, it was NOT crowded and really nice. Wish we had more time to spend there. I would have loved to get out on a boat. That looked like it would be really nice.

This man made lake is vast and our experience is with a beach area near the Arizona/Utah border about 25minutes out of Page. The road to the beach is mostly sand and there are warnings about vehicles getting stuck. We made it down to the waters edge with our minivan but needed help getting back to the road. A nice guy with rugs helped us and we had a little adventure.

I would have loved to rate this higher but the only the way to see the Lake is to pay an entrance fee which I don't think is right especially if all you want is a quick photograph. From the highway viewpoint, we could see the lake fairly well and that was good enough.

This lake is massive! We went for a swim after doing horseshoe bend and the water was perfect! There's plenty of activities from renting a relaxing house boat to jet skis and wake boats.

This man-made lake offers spectacular scenery. Depending on the weather and lighting, the colors can change dramatically. Take the scenic boat tour of Antelope and Navahoe canyons.

We had never been here before. Went on a kayaking tour with a local outfitter. Both my wife and i loved the lake and the recreational opportunities afforded by it. We both agreed if we came back to the southwest, this would be a great place to come.
Swimming.
Camping.
Boating.

Beauty!

We didn’t have Lake Powell in our plan, but ended up driving by and decided to stop. The view is beautiful and it was a very hot summer day, so we stopped for a swim. It was very pleasant.

It’s a lot more built up around the lake than when we were here 15 years ago but you can still see the mystical rock formations arising out of the otherworldly blue water. It costs $30 per car to get into the Lake Shore Drive, though disabled people and seniors can get a lifetime pass to ALL National Parks and Monuments for $10. We just drove around and stopped at several viewpoints to admire. The image of the lake has remained in my memory since I first saw it and I was so happy to see it again.

Staying at the Wahweap ressort there are a lot of things to do and see in the area. Exploring Glen Canyon by boat, swimming, nice dining options, and hiking e.g. the hanging garden trail

We used our park pass and entered the scenic drive off Hwy. 89. We ate our lunch enjoying the view. We then drove down to the resort below the main road and enjoyed a walk overlooking the lake.

The lake with its beaches, rocks...is really stunning and beautiful ! The blue of the water is amazing and you could enjoy a swim, canoeing or boat trip

We took the boat tour from the Marina resort: staff not too friendly, like they were talking to a class of first graders. Long wait because they insist everyone has their pictures taken before boarding. So called for security, which is bs, because they want to sell you the picture. Makes the wait unnecessary long. Here too very unfriendly staff.

This is a big wow how this lake sits right in the heart of the Canyons. Lonely rock is a great place and so odd to see this great rock sitting on its own in the middle of the the lake. Planet of the Apes was filmed and you can see the how. Just a great marvel. Also you can see from above as with a great vantage point along the road.

Lake Powell Antelope marina place and boat tour is easy and comfortable place to be. We drove to marina place, purchased the ticket and then walked to restaurant which on water. It take about 20 to 30 mins to reach to restaurant on foot. Restaurant is nice but pricy as well, nice place to eat. Boat tour starts from here. Rocky hills and dark green water and reflection of hills in water is something to watch. People rent boats here and in the night reflection of sky/start in the water is awesome.

We went in the last week of July. The beach was okay. We didn't have a boat with us, so there was not much to do in the park.

Lake Powell is at an all time low, only 30% capacity! Some of the marinas have closed down. It's sad to see the effects of the drought, but the Lake is still beautiful.

Had just one day for touring around Page, AZ, so we went to Lake Powell. Chose to rent a power boat for 4 hours and toured the lake. Beautiful scenery. Want to go back and rent a house boat for a family weekend. Had a great time cruising the lake. Antelope floating restaurant was a nice diversion.

Great tour. Beautiful sights, and informative audio message. My only advice is to be at head of line to be able to sit on upper deck of boat because there isn’t enough outdoor seats for everyone.

We love the peaceful nature and beautiful vistas with the most awesome sunrises and sunsets. Houseboating is over the top!

It is so nice to look at the huge lake when whole of Arizona is full of desert, canyons and rocks. Refreshing! Go see sunset at one of many viewpoints (closest to Page is only 15mins drive) and take it all in.

We visited late in the afternoon and the setting sun was casting beautiful colors on the rocks. The outcroppings were so unique and the lake was a beautiful blue. We stopped at an overlook and we're so taken with the exquisite views. Make sure you visit the visitors center at the dam to get the history of the dam as well as the area.
Even in October there were lots of visitors which is a good sign for the area.

We went paddle boarding through the canyons on lake powell. It was stunning. very quiet, relaxing and a great way to swim in some nice cool water. paddling through the canyon is surreal, i highly recommend it. you need to buy a ticket to go to the boat launch, or use your annual parks pass.

Spend four wonderful days on the Lake in a houseboat. Absolutely beautiful. The Lake is simply remarkable. If you are thinking about it do it as soon as you can. Swimming in the lake was great. Water was north of 80 degrees, but always refreshing.

We took a boat tour and learned about the history of the lake. The water was so beautiful we saw huge fish and people in kayaks. This is a peaceful place to enjoy.

When I did the reservation on 09 Mar by website, they charged all the fare($150 for three persons) from my credit card. When we joined the tour on 06 Jul, I just show the counter
my reservation, then she gave us the boarding pass, but when I got my credit card bill, I find they charged me again on 06 Jul. I'm so shocked such a big company to do like this! Then, I sent the email to them, at first, they were say when I do the reservation, they did't get my payment, so the charged me on 06 Jul.I showed them all my recipe to prove. Then they checked and said that only one record of my credit card on 09 Mar.....After that, even what I said, they didn't give me any reply!!! I FELL SO ANGRY!!!! Even I can not take back my money, I will tell everyone, be careful about this company-- Lake Powell Resort.

Rented a boat for the day and went around the lake. So beautiful!! Would do it again if we ever come back!

Such an amazing place! Beautiful place to visit with tons of things to do. Definitely rent a boat and get on the water.

After lunch we decided to rent a boat for a few hours on Lake Powell. It was great. Lake was nice and big so not a lot of traffic on the lake.

Lake Powell has tours that leave from the marina, which is close to both the upper and lower Antelope canyons. The tours have designed hours of departures. We booked ahead of time so that we could take a llama tour after the canyon tour.

Great Lake with amazing and unreal views. We took a boat trip to Rainbow Bridge and we love this lake. Not a lot of waves!

This is a gorgeous lake with so much to explore and see! I was nervous that five days on a houseboat, in a lake, might be too long, but I could have stayed another week! So beautiful! Some of the places to see are Horseshoe Bend, Rainbow Bridge, Padre Canyon, Labyrinth Canyon, and so much more!

At the suggestion of a friend, we decided to celebrate our son's birthday in a very non-traditional way. We rented a 60 foot luxury houseboat for a week and traveled the waters and canyons of Lake Powell. The boat was only a year old and when I say it had everything you could think of on board, from the 4 staterooms, 2 baths, luxury granite counter top kitchen with Stainless Steel appliances that were the size and quality we have at home, along with a parlor, upper party deck and we stocked it with $1,000+ of food and liquor, fishing tackle, 45' flat screen TV... two helms, so you could nav from the upper deck while you traversed the God made cliffs, canyons and just pure relaxation cruising at 12 knots in slender. Words really do it no justice. It's like the Grand Canyon, filled with water and 176 miles long... Simply incredible. Put it on your "bucket list" to take this trip. You'll thank me for suggesting it!!

Has been on bucket list for years. Finally spent the day there for our anniversary. Now planning a trip for next year on a house boat. Incredibly beautiful land formations!

Really want to come back when the heat is gone. Took a 1.5 hour tour which was interesting but just too hot. Would like to kayak at some point but it’s a long trip from New Jersey.

I had the opportunity to spend a day at Lake Powell and it was one of the best days on my vacation! We went to the local paddle board rental in Page, AZ to rent paddle boards ($40US/person for the day). If you don't have a car that doesn't have the overhead rack, don't worry they have ones for you to still enjoy the rentals. We entered in down near the Antelope Marina (you need to buy a pass) and launched from there paddling around the bend into the canyon. You can do this through a tour however, you can also explore it yourself and paddle to the end and get out and hike. This lake is the warmest lake I have ever been in and super clear!! I brought my Life Staw to take a drink out of the water to avoid having to bring so much with me on the board. If you want to avoid the rush, go to the lake in the morning as it will get quite busy with boats and people tend to claim spots on the rocks. I would go back here again in a heart beat!

Lake Powell is arguably the most scenic lake in America, kids loved it & visit Glen Canyon National Recreational Area, its worth it

We took an hour boat ride from Antelope Point Village Marina. Guide told us the story of how the lake was developed from the dam and Colorado River. Saw just a small piece of the lake via Navajo Canyon. Different viewpoint than on land. We got some great pics of the rocks reflection in the water.

We did not have time to rent a houseboat or go kayaking, but just picnicking on the shore and taking in the viewpoints and sunset around Wahweap was certainly worth the while. We also took a 1-hour boat trip.

Took a 2.5 hour boat tour on the lake. Probably didn't need to take that long a tour, but it was peaceful and the formations were lovely. The guide was informative, and we enjoyed it.

Great tour Guides of both Navajoe and Antelope canyons yb boat. Wonderful scenery, very relaxing and informative!

This is my experience of Standup Paddling Board up Antelope Canyon.
If you are into SUP, most people know the best time to go is early in the morning when there less wind and wake from other motorized water crafts.
We launch started out SUP trip from Antelope Point Public Boat Launch. When entering this part of the National Park, take the road to the far left.
We parked my truck near the water at 5:30 AM and spent the the next 30 minutes inflating our two iSUP's.
We launched our SUP's at 6 AM (just a few minutes before the Sun rise).
From the Antelope Point Boat Launch area, paddle to the left to get entrance of Antelope Canyon. From the public boat launch to the entrance of canyon is about 1 mile (in pretty wide open lake water area). Starting at 6 AM, the water very very calm (almost glass like).
From the Antelope Point public Boat launch area to the every end of Antelope Canyon is about 4 miles.
The Antelope Canyon entrance is still very wide out, but the further you paddle up the canyon, it will get narrower and walls will get taller.
Early the morning the water was perfectly calm in the canyon .... my perfect conditions for SUP'ing .... it was really incredible.
NOTE: while the Canyon does get narrow, it not narrow enough to touch the sides of the canyon walls. 5 and 8 years ago, when the Lake Powell water level was much higher, that was true, but the Lake Powell water level is at about 40% of capacity.
It look us about 90 minutes to paddle the 4 miles to the end of Antelope Canyon.
The very end of the canyon (near the water line) is very muddy.
Upon beaching our SUP's, we then put on some shoes and hiked 30 minutes up the canyon ..... I would highly recommend doing this .... it was truly amazing ...
... and you can see how much higher the later level used to be with seeing all the mini mussels shells on the lower canyon walls as we hiked farther up the canyon.
When we got back to our SUP's, we decides to paddle back just a little bit to a exposed sandbar to have lunch and swim a bit ... it was GREAT.
I would rate the paddle up the canyon, the hike, and the swimming experience 10 stars out of 5.
After about 2 hour of hiking, swimming and eating, it was getting close to 10 AM and started our 4 mile trek back to the Antelope Point Public Boat Launch ...
.... the trip back would NOT be a 10 star experience.
By late morning, all the tourist boat renters are out. There is a posted signs of "NO WAKE" in the Antelope Canyon, but it was my experience, that most boat and jet ski renters ignored this rule ...
... and once we got to the entrance of the canyon, the wind kicked up significantly and there were a lot more boater kicking up big wakes ...
... needly to say, the last 1 miles of our paddle back to Antelope Point Public Boat Launch was NO fun ...... I would rate the return paddle back 2 stars (out of 5).
SUMMARY:
The paddle up canyon was GREAT .... just like I imagined ... and the hike and the time swimming was GREAT too.
The paddle back just SUCKED!
Would I do it again???
Well, if I did, I would leave earlier, maybe as early as 5 AM. And I would not hike back up in the canyon and I would not stop to swim. With the goal of being off the lake as early as possible.
I gave it 4 stars on this site because the return trip was so sucky.

A bucket list boat trip. Spent 5 short hours on a rented pontoon weaving in and out of the canyons, Worth every penny we spent. ( gas was a tad pricey at $216) but fun!

This lake offers lots of recreation possibilities but the lookouts just for the views of the lake and dam are worth a stop and good for lots of picture taking. There is a road that runs along the lake you can take for a fee.

We spent two days at lake Powell on a tour. We did the cruise in Antelope Canyon. It was well run and the boat crew worked well with the passengers. After the tour boat tour we went back to the hotel and changed. We walked along the path by the lake to the swimming beach and jumped in. The walk is about 25 minutes. The water was nice it was refreshing break from the tour.
There offers many things to do.We also took the air tour .
Charley

This lake has been one we have been wanting to visit for a while, and when we were able to it was worth it. So many views and things to do on the lake. Could spend a week on this lake relaxing and having fun ! Make sure to go thru the canyons and see Glen Dam from the water. Awesome environment and great time for family and the kids.

Best ever fun day with Bret our tour guide. The sun bright, the snacks tasty and the weather was great. The only thing I did not like was the fast power boats!

A pleasant surprise passing through Page AZ on way to Monument Valley. We stopped and took in the sights including Glen Canyon Dam with the overlook trail, the Dam info center and the Colorado River Bend. This area has much to see and do and is relatively inexpensive at this time of year!

Like all lake areas in Arizona, beautiful colors as far as the eye can see. We went mid-morning. The weather was cool, windy and clear.

Our family of seven rented a speed boat for the day and went tubing and driving all around the lake! Absolutely best idea and it is unbelievable how beautiful it is! I’m so glad we spent the money to go on the water and enjoy it.

When we first came through the area years ago we were coming from Bryce Canyon down Hwy 89. These huge boats kept passing us. Lake Michigan sized boats. We were like "Where are these huge boats going?" The answer - Lake Powell!
We recently came through the area again & camped at Page. My husband was reading some information about Lake Powell. How archaeologists rushed to save as much as they could of rock art & ancient sites before the dam could be complete. Things like this always come with a price.
The area gets electricity & tourism for the lake. Some things are lost though.

CONS: We paid to pre-board the Friday before and did not get our boat until 9:30 p.m.The next morning after the instruction by the professionals we went to leave and our engine wouldn't start. We ended up leaving the dock At about 12:00 12:30. By then we were on our way and the winds were starting to pick up so we had to pull off to the nearest beach. It was murky water so nobody would go into it. The next day we went to leave and our engine wouldn't start again. I'd like to say that through this entire first two days all we heard over the radio was people having problems with their boats. We had engine problems the entire time.
Next the rooms. The way the YouTube video looks it appears as though you have a bedroom these are more like a bunk room were you either have to step down into your bed or step up into your bed with minimal storage and not very accessible.
We rented a 75 foot houseboat and it clearly has not been updated probably since the 70s.
PRO- Family time and the scenary, neither of which have to do with this company.
I will never recommend this to anyone. And though they gave us a little bit of money back it still was not worth the price that you pay for this.
Thankfully we had our own boat with us so we can take off and go do things.

Always wanted to visit the lake , luckily we had the opportunity on a cancer charity challenge. 15 of us had to kayak from the shore, around 6 miles to a lovely beach area , where we then camped the night, before having to kayak back. I thought it would be more dramatic than it was. Didn’t blow me away. Sunset and sunrise was lovely, seeing the rocks in different lights. Lovely swim in NON salty water is always nice.
Real tough kayak, plenty waves and currents, we luckily only capsized once, lost a few items sadly doing so. Reason was due to speedboats, came past very close and the wake they left almost took us out many tines , luckily just the once we went over.

Really cool calm local spot! Only found out about it through word of mouth and asking around to some of the locals. We asked for a nice place to jump off of cliffs and into some cool refreshing
Water, and boy did they deliver a doozy. The pictures below have no filters and were taken with an iPhone 6! Look at how crystal clear the water is! The sky is blue and the cliffs are a startling red/grey. An amazing display of colors once again that Arizona promptly delivered.

How to access: drive down to a parking lot about a mile down from the bridge where the dam is. It is a a city parking lot where plenty of cars will be. You hike down to the river as far as you want to go. I’d say we hike maybe a .5 miles down to where there were no people and found a good safe place to jump.
The current is strong and the rocks can be sharp in certain areas. Of course this is still nature so be smart about where you jump. We picked a darker spot, where the water was deep enough and away from the rocks as much as possible.
Different heights to jump off of, you just have to find your spot.
Warning: current can be strong, if the wind is out. IF you are a weak swimming stay where the rocks break the current.
If you decide not to jump, you can still enough an amazing view or walk into the water rather than take a leap. Enjoyable for all ages suitable to walking/hiking on uneven terrains for at least .2 miles.
Enjoy!

We just returned from 4 nights aboard 59’Discovery out of Bullfrog Marina. We had 4 couples that vacation at Lake Powell for the past 5 years. I personally have been camping and houseboating st Lake Powell for over 35 years. The houseboat rented to us by Aramark was one of the most disappointing boats we have rented. We don’t expect luxury by any means, just clean and well maintained so the trip is comfortable.
We are very responsible, mature couples who clean and take very good care of the houseboat we rent.
This houseboat must have been rushed through the cleaning process as their were cobwebs everywhere; counters not cleaned, the upstairs small fridge smelled like rotted fish. There was no grease trap under the lower BBQ so when we bbq’d, grease dripped all over the propane tank and floor of bbq. The toilet seal did not properly seal and although someone tried to fix it, it never really completely sealed, leaking sewer gas into cabin. The screens were not properly attached to bedroom or bathroom windows and tons of flies came in. We can handle flies but this was nuts. The front and back glass slider doors did not latch properly so it was difficult to shut during windy moments. And there was a huge ant invasion, beyond just a few ants that got into a bunch of our food we had to throw away.
I am hoping that Aramark would put some more time and money into maintaining their houseboats as we love Lake Powell and houseboating. They seem to have gotten lazy and cheap about mantaining their houseboats out of Bullfrog.
I was told they get the older houseboats out of
Wahweap. I think it’s time to purchase new boats for Bullfrog.

Just arriving at Lake Powell is cool as it is so large. But once you are out on a boat it feels like an ocean with cliffs. You can find private areas. Water ski. Hiking. And swimming. Highly recommend

We visited Lake Powell in January during the government shutdown so it was free. It was also very empty although it looked as though a few people had taken the opportunity to ride OHV's and Motorcycles in areas where they aren't allowed. It was very peaceful and pleasant when we were there.

Lake was at it's minimum and didn't have much water. Still a nice place to see. Lone rock was the place we liked the most.

We visit Lake Powell often, it’s beautiful water and close to canyoneering, off road and just plain relaxing.
Lone rock is a beach, you can camp , pull your boat up on shore.
Water crystal clear.
The lake is part of Glen Canyon water project.
Fishing is best in fall and spring
The park service offers boat tours

By taking the boat after a bit of a wait to board as it is very popular , the commentary by the crew is so interesting .Heading towards the dam wall is amazing going past all the rock formations with all the colour changes.

Lake Powell, location of the crash landing in the first Planet of the Apes movie, is incredibly huge and incredibly barren and strikingly beautiful. The view from various spots along the shore are outstanding, but the view from the boat tour of the lake and the hike to Rainbow Bridge (a mile in each direction from where the boat docks) take your breath away. For us it was a 1,300 mile round-trip drive for a four night stay, and well worth it. It is a really unique place.

First, we went to Glen Canyon Dam overlook which is near Sleep Inn at Page, AZ. We walked down to the canyon there. The views of the canyon and dam were pretty. Then, we went to Carl Hayden Visitor Center. It is located very close to the dam. We walked out on the porch and got closeup views of the dam. The visitor center has tours, but the tours were cancelled due to threatening weather. We watched an interesting film there.

Finding the visitor center closed, a local told us we could get use of it driving the scenic lake shore drive. He told us this is a charging activity, but now it was free due to the government financial blockade.
It was a terrific scenery we drove through making magnificent pics.

Stayed at the Resort and Marina. Rooms comfortable. Breakfast buffet overpriced as is main breakfast menu. The plus is Starbucks in Lobby AND a nice bar.

This lake was formed when the Glen Canyon dam was built. The water level peaked in the 70s and is now very low. Still fun to get out on the water in whichever way suits your fancy. Beautiful views in every direction.

Had a fantastic time on Lake Powell! Rented a boat one day and tooled around the lake, beached the boat and has a refreshing swim as well. Would love to return for a longer stay.

We rented a 26' pontoon boat from Lower Antelope Marina and had an great time on the lake. We also rented a tube and ski rope so the kids (ages 13 & 15) went tubing. We made it all the way up to Rainbow Bridge and back. I would definitely recommend spending a day or two on Lake Powell.

We rented a pontoon boat for our family of 4 for the day and was a great way to spend a hot July. The lake is even more beautiful to explore by water. Don't leave Page, AZ without at least 1 day on the water.

This was one of the best and most breath taking trips my family and I have ever been on. We rented a 19' boat for the day which was pricey but worth every penny. Every time we thought we saw the most beautiful part of the area we would turn the corner to see even more breathtaking views. We found plenty of places to stop and swim in the wonderful water. We even found a few sand beaches. Monsoons started right as we were leaving. It was gorgeous. Take your family and friends and go, asap. You wont regret it.

The colors of the canyons surrounding the blue water, the labyrinth of stream to be explored, the quietness makes this area one of the most soothing ever.

we booked into a hotel for 3 nights to explore the area but then spend more time at the lake. it is really beyond this world. the color and the setup - stunning

We had such a wonderful time! we stayed at the Wahweap marina rv park and took our boat our daily! So many places where we were all in awe of the beauty!! This lake has places where its more crowded than other spots and by crowded you may see 20 boaters at once... It's a huge lake so we found many coves and areas where we saw no-one for hours!

It is so sad to see how little the lake is, since my visits in the '80's. But this is still such a gorgeous lake on a nice day. Definitely hire a boat and get out on it, or at least enjoy the overlooks.

You will love it! whether Fishing, kayaking, boating. Such a unique looking lake. We loved it and will be back!

Fantastic overlook to catch some views of the lake! Every picture I took felt like a painting - it was that surreal.
There are some nice hefty stones that you can sit on to enjoy the view.
It was pretty windy at the top - not sure if that is routine or just the day I went. Wouldn’t hurt to take a hat or scarf to keep the hair out of your face, just in case.
I don’t remember there being a guard rail so those with small children should be aware.

Drove to it and by it on my way from Page heading to Zion. Nice photo ops everywhere and lots of pull outs too to snap a few photos. I found the Lake to be huge with lots to see. I have friends who swear by this place as THE place to go visit and enjoy in their boat. I am not quite there yet.
Still, worth an hour to check out at least on your way passing through. Pretty easy water to get to though.

We drove through Page from the South in order to get to Horseshoe Canyon. What a gorgeous portion of the world! The entire drive from Page to Kanab is something to be seen on either major roadway. The lake looked beautiful and welcoming, however we did not stop to do the "touristy" things, will for sure next time.

We did a kayak trip on the lake which was not good but, the lake itself is great. Water is clear and clean, albeit it is very low right now (96 feet low). The kids loved being on the beach playing in the sand. I'd recommend camping or just a day hanging out.

Lake Powell is beautiful. It was cold on the lake so take a jacket. Make your reservations early the boat tours get sold out. It is a magnificent view all around.

I have yet to have the opportunity to boat on Lake Powell, but it’s definitely on my to do list! I stop every time I’m traveling in the area. I think it’s just beautiful! A must see in my opinion.

We spent 2 days playing on Lake Powell. I wish we had 2 weeks !!! The beauty of this place is beyond words.

A short stop but one to do. We traveled with another couple taking in all the sites available. Add this to your list.

The best and most enjoyable way to see Lake Powell is from a houseboat. We rented one for 5 days and it was one of our most relaxing vacations ever and we took some amazing photos. We had bonfires on the beach at night, cooked fresh caught fish, hiked in the mountains and played on a jet ski. Not an inexpensive week to be sure, but if you can do it, you will not be disappointed. One of the few trips I would do a second time.

On our way to Horseshoe bend and made a quick stop here. New subdivisions going up right near this and I can see the possibilities of the surrounding area. Looking at this dam and all you can do is wonder how it was put together. Looked like a lot of man hours. Safely viewed from the bridge.

The color of stone reflecting on the lake is nice. It is kind of surreal to see water while you drive in the desert.

We booked a tour with the Lake Powell Marina-the canyons tour. It was spectacular! We had a great captain who along with recorded information shared a great deal. I wished I had brought a pen and paper to write some things down. We departed exactly on time. I suggest you arrive early if you want to sit up top. It was hot, but the breeze was nice as we moved along. We were grateful for our hats, water and cool towels. We traveled up 2 canyons and past the dam. It was absolutely beautiful. The travel time was 2.5 hours. We ate in the restaurant afterward overlooking the water. Very good food and staff.

We reserved a boat for the day but was canceled due to high winds. Such a bummer because seeing the lake was our #1 reason for visiting…but we had the most incredible day hiking “The Chains” which about a half mile east walk down to the water where we set up for the day. Take the turn in for the Hanging Gardens trailhead (just east of the dam) and follow the road all the way down. Park by the restroom and head straight out behind it. There is no trail because it’s all sandstone. We even carried down a couple of beach chairs and found several perfect spots right on the water where we watched the boats go by, snorkeled, fished and just enjoyed the cool crystal clear water…and we save $600 on the boat rental!

If you go to Lake Powell make sure to stay at the Wahweap Marina, Lake Powell Resort. While the food wasn't great, the views and wonderful staff made up for it. I plan on returning many times.

We rented a kayak and boat from the marina.
I’ll go over both the good and the bad. We decided to go to labyrinth canyon rather than antelope due to the desire to have everyone in our party kayak in the canyon and not have anybody left over on the boat. There is an option of a water taxi but there’s no guarantee of service if you’re late. The canyons are truly beautiful and it is definitely a one-of-a-kind place. Now the bad: due to the pandemic tours of antelope Canyon by foot are currently not allowed and as a result the place where beautiful pictures of the slot canyon are not available to see. So, we went to Labyrinth Canyon.
When we went to labyrinth Canyon we parked in an area which we thought where we were directed to by the marina. This was still in the mouth of Lake Powell have the trip to the end of the canyon was exhausting. We unfortunately had wind going against us both directions. It really picked up at the end and became pretty dangerous. We saw a patrol boat twice but that was before we started tiring out. My wife’s kayak started taking on water. The water is very cold right now and hypothermia would be an issue. I am not a triathlete but can do a 45 min spin workout a couple times a week. I was very tired at 3 miles or so. Fortunately there was a very nice gentleman who pulled over in his boat and was willing to tow us back to our boat. He basically saved our lives. In this canyon there’s very few spots to climb onto to get yourself out of the water should your boat overturned or become unusable. Similarly there’s really no designated area to show you that this is the safer area to kayak so that you really have to guess what an appropriate distance is. Everything worked out, but it really was very dicey for a while. We’re just thankful everybody is OK. Our boat from the marina was an old boat with torn seats. The motor was new but had issues slipping on the way back. Similarly I was not clear on how to use the radio. We were showing how to turn it on when we first arrived but that was basically it. They never actually showed us how to use it. I’d recommend you absolutely make sure you can use the boat radio before you leave. Again it is a very beautiful place but you must be very careful or it can end poorly.

Off season visit - it was very quiet and serene. Not many people and not much action on the lake - just the way we like it. We stayed at Lake Powell Resort which is in Glen Canyon Recreational Area and the entrance fee per one car is $30!
Great view spot of the lake and surrounding is Wahweap Overlook on road 89 towards Kanab.

Be careful where you drive. The sign stated that the pavement ended. We did not know that there was sand to get trapped in!
Thank you French couple and Family with truck that pulled us out! Still loved the view.

Went swimming in the lake at WahWeap!!
Absolutely gorgeous AND refreshing water.
First time to lake Powell

Got a combo package to see the Lower Antelope and go on a Lake Powell boat ride. Really enjoyed leisure ride while taking in excellent views of red rock formations and lake activities around us. Glad we did.

A very interesting boat tour of Antelope Canyon. Water was low but interested in knowing that water peaks in July can raise 40-70 feet due to runoff. Tour guides were excellent in pointing out interesting formations as we toured.

Compared to other destinations, Lake Powell hides the most wonderfull spots of nature: The horshoe bend is just a cou[ple of miles away, Antilope Canyon begins at Lake Powell and the Glenn Dam is one of the most impressive humand buildings in the area.

Enjoyed stopping by the NP Visitor Center, seeing the glen Canyon Dam. Drove to the south Wahweap park entrance and had a nice lunch at the lodge, overlooking the lake.

Lake Powell was beautiful on a hot Summer day. Lots of boaters and beautiful scenery. The people at the Dock And Stock were super friendly

We’re Canadian where water is present everywhere, streams, rivers, ponds, swamps, lakes and the Great Lakes. We have a place in an area called the Land of Lakes. So when we were in Kanab and kept seeing boats getting trailered through town before the long Labour Day weekend in an area that is desert-like we couldn’t figure out why, until we learned about Lake Powell where it is rumoured that as many as 15000 boats merge on a long weekend. If that is true, by our standards, that is gross and we are unsure of the motivation that would compel people to spend outrageous amounts of money on expensive boats to be crowded in with others. Is it more money than brains, keeping up with the Jones’? There is a purpose to Lake Powell and with few options it’s a recreational hotspot, but the landscape is boring. As humans, I believe we are drawn to water, but I cannot understand the draw here especially on big ‘crowded’ weekends.

We were staying near Lake Powell for Antelope Canyon, but we loved the town and the lake. We ended up kayaking and having some great meals in town. I highly recommend getting out on that water!

Lake Powell was very beautiful an I enjoyed kayaking down the lake, but the marina needs to get their crap together an take care of customers in a timely manner

Rented two 53' Adventurer house boats. The staff was polite and helpful.. The boats were "old and tired". The. main problem was the propane refrigerators, they just would not cool down when the temps hit 100. We spent over $120 on ice. They should have turned them on the night before, that would have helped just a bit. After 18 years of cruising America in a 43' Coach, I know an easy fix would be to add several large RV "house batteries" and a regular house refrigerator. One boat was missing a screen door, had unfastened bolts that were to hold the rear stairs in place, missing a large cooler, holes in the wall due door handles, a shower door fell off and almost broke a bone in my wife's foot, broken battery gauge causing us to run the generators more. The throttles were stiff and stuck a lot, making the RPM coordination of two engines difficult. While the kids loved the trip, all these things dampened our enjoyment and caused the lower rating. To their credit, the owners did give us a credit for one day. Next time we will insist on a newer boat and normal house refrigerator. Even thought the lake is down (no travel east of M/M 26), it was beautiful.

We just spent 7 days on the 62ft Journey out of Wahweap. I was a little concerned about some bad reviews I read from 2018. None of the bad things I read about happened to us. The staff was very friendly and helpful at the dock. We got boat B1 and everything worked the whole trip. We could have used some more in depth instructions but we were ready to get on the lake and eventually figured everything out. We had an amazing trip and the lake is beautiful.

Rented a boat for a day on the lake and was absolutely delighted by the scenery and the beautyo fo the rocks and the water. Did some tubing and swimming and found the water to be pretty clean and refreshing (we did travbel about 25 miles from the marina, so there were few people around). Definitely verify if Dangling Rope Marina is open before you head too far afield or you could run out of gas and need a tow. Easily one of the most beautiful places anywhere!!! Definitely see it from a boat!!!!!!

We stayed at the RV park at the Marina. The views are stunning the park is great good shop. I like the fact that there is a restaurant and bar at the hotel in the marina so nice to walk down and have a sunset drink or dinner. We have booked a cruise tonight along the river from the hotel.

We spent two night here on a Grand Circle Tour with Insight. The views are awesome. Get on the water to really experience it. We did two tours, one a boat ride around the lake to Antelope Canyon and the other was a float trip on the Colorado River just below the dam. So we saw what Glen Canyon had been before the dam while floating down the river and enjoying the scenery and then got to experience an easy boat trip with narration. The two trips gave me a new perspective that I would not have had just seeing the scenery.

This is such a beautiful lake. One of the longest ones in the US. All the twists and turns it makes sure makes it an adventure.

We love the lake and the area! Went there 2x already. Recommended is a kayak trip to the Antelope canyon from the Antelope point Marina! Simply Amazing. If you can afford, go for a motorboat.

Lake Powell is amazing. The water is a gorgeous deep blue and is set in beautiful Glen Canyon. There are all kinds of water activities you can enjoy - swimming, fishing, speed boats, sailing. If you love water sports, this is a great location to spend a few days and enjoy this wonderful water resource.

All I can say that it was very peaceful and a calm place to be in. Amazing scenery and very picturess

The views are absolutely stunning. I suppose if you are a camper, this place is super cool. We just drove through and stopped several times to take pics.

We took a 3 hr canyon tour on Lake Powell. The guide explained a lot about the lake and took us in several canyons. The scenery is fantastic!

So much fun! Lake was nice with blue/green water. We were able to go down the small canyons and into places that the boats couldn’t go. We swam off of the jetskiis. Rented from antelope marina rentals right off the dock. Wear lots of sunscreen and hit the wAter and you can’t go wrong!! Highly recommend.

It's a lake. The gorges are interesting but I didn't find the lake itself that fascinating. Glad we went but doubt we'd go again.

Nice Panoramic view of Lake Powell from the lake shore drive. You can even get a look a warwheap marina. Glenn Canyon Dam, Navajo mountains. The Area is maintained by NPS and charge 30$ entrance fee.

Using a tourist brochure for Lake Powell boat rides found within my hotel, I made a reservation over the phone for a 1 1/2 hour Antelope Canyon Boat tour later that day. I was given a confirmation # and the agent shared detailed info about the tour. Upon arriving at the Lake Powell Resort & Marina, we were told that reservations could only be made in person. The woman working at the Resort could see my reservation in her computer records, but she said they had a large tour group going at that time, which the online service rep did not know about. She was able to add us to a tour boat leaving in 20 minutes but we had to hurry. Had we not arrived several hours early, and thought to confirm our reservation, we could have missed out. The ride itself is nice - stand on the lower level in the front of the boat for the best pictures since on top, the staff will tell you to sit so as to not block someone else's view. Expect to wear a headset for the ride with a narrative. Bring a hat to prevent sunburn if sitting on top. It's a short ride - it goes quickly - select a longer ride if you want greater access into the canyon. There was limited food options at the Resort - pack a lunch or plan to drive into Page, AZ.

Beautiful lake despite the water level being low. The only drawback was the other boaters who clearly did not have experience with boats or didn't care about boating regulations.

To all considering going to Lake Powell and renting everything - The companies that offer rental service in Lake Powell have a monopoly there. So, expect to pay a premium for everything. So long as you have that expectation, you are in for a great trip.
We rented our houseboat from Aramark. The customer service on the phone is great. We rented the 75' Excursion. We also rented a 20' Baja power boat and a Kawasaki Jet Ski.All were in working order. However, you can tell that these things get rented out a lot. The power boat and Jet Ski have left their skin on just about every rock in Lake Powell. We got what we needed out of them. The Houseboat was in better shape. Although, we needed to call for a serviceman to come out and fix some issues we had while anchored on the beach.
Here were some of our mechanical issues: We parked the houseboat on a beach facing East. The Generator is on the side of the boat that is in the heat all day. The generator went in to vapor lock and we couldn't get it started. You need the generator for all power on the boat. The serviceman came out and fixed it really quick. So, take note and park your boat on a beach in a position where your generator is out of the sun the most. Another issue we had was little weeds in the water close to the beach were getting in to intake of the generator. A serviceman had to come out and clean it out. The weeds were due to the Lake water levels going down. As the Lake is higher, you are less likely to have that problem. This means that you should choose a earlier time of year to go than August when we went.
These mechanical issues weren't much of a head ache as the serviceman came out so quickly and were gone so quickly. Shout out to the service crew. They knew the Lake layout so well.
Navajo Canyon: We found more beach areas and open water outside of Navajo Canyon. So, taking a power boat through there is a better option to be able to see the beautiful cliffs of the area. I also don't recommend taking your houseboat through there because it's really narrow and there are a bunch of moron's that have no idea that they are responsible for their own wake. They will just power past you without a care in the world. Meanwhile you are left rocking for days due to the ricochet effect of the canyon walls. I'm glad we didn't decide to set up camp in there. Also bear in mind that finding a beach just outside of Navajo Canyon can have you seeing some big waves as the tour boats are passing through there a few times a day. This isn't a problem if you like to push your power boat and jet ski off the beach every time you want to go out. You will need some man power to do it. It usually took 4 of us.
The majestic thing about Lake Powell is once you get camp all set up. It's Family time at its purist. There limited cell phone connection. So, everyone is disconnected from their electronics. The star gazing at night cannot be beat. While the inside of the houseboat was nicely air conditioned, I slept on the top deck every night just to see the stars. There is too much light pollution where we live.
Lake Powell is a unique vacation. It's not like Cancun's all-inclusive resorts or the crowds of Disneyland. It's an adventure that you can't quite imagine until you take the opportunity and do it. I hope to be back soon.

Beautiful scenic location but not much to do. You would want to stop by to get some good photos. Got some good family photos. Remember to take water bottles.

This is not only a recreational opportunity for boaters, but is pleasantly beautiful all around. Parts of Mel Gibson's Maverick movie were filmed in the area.

We said at the Wahweap RV Park. The park was very clean and gave us a beautiful overlook of the lake. Looks like a great place to boat. The water did have a funky smell, but that didn't deter us from enjoying the beach areas.

To get to Lake Powell the National Parks Service is still charging $30. It is evident that hardly anyone is going to the resort or lake it was nearly void of people. However, the views over the lake are still impressive.

We booked a boat tour- there are several offerings. We signed up for the 3 hour (?) one. It was incredible to be so close to the walls, to see the mountains in the distance, and enjoy the breezes kicked up by the speed of the boat. I think you can still get a lot out of it by taking the shorter tour!

We stopped in Page just to experience Antelope Canyon and stayed in the RV park at Lake Powell for two nights. None of our trip was water/boat related and it was late in the season and many of the boat tours were not operating. Would love to come back for a dinner cruise or Rainbow Bridge (did not have the time).

The beach on Lake Powell close to Page (circa 15 minutes away) is lovely and easy for swimming / crashing out - though there are no facilities whatsoever there so take whatever you need. Most of the people there are in RV's or pick-ups and take every conceivable thing that they may want. Head for the far end to the right of the access road for a little more space and peace, just be careful with the sandy access tracks (we parked back from the beach and walked down). Great for unwinding after a heavy period of park and natural world visits.
The lake is also used for kayaking and motorised water sports, but it is a big body of water - at the beach I was very impressed that jet skis and the like stayed a long way offshore, making swimming safe.

We waited for over 15 years to rent a house boat and go out on Lake Powell. We invited 2 other couples to go with us. The houseboat offered us at a discount was terrible! We would have been better paying more for a smaller newer house boat. DONT LET THEM TALK YOU INTO A LARGER OLDER HOUSEBOAT AT A LOWER PRICE.
Our reservation 8003H4QN was for houseboat out of Wahweap marina in June, 2018. 53' Adventurer. The boats a/c unit could not cool the boat. The toilet seals were worn out so the whole houseboat smelled like a sewer. Twice they sent someone out to look at it but it couldn't be fixed. There were other issues but smell made it hard to stay in the houseboat with inside temps hitting as high as 89 degrees.
We came back early it was so bad. We spent a lot of money for a terrible experience. If you risk with these people do your homework and make sure your houseboat is functional and not worn out.

We took a boat tour of Lake Powell which focused on the Antelope Canyon area. We loved the tall canyon walls and the narrow passages between some of the walls. The only problem was that it was too popular and our boat was so full of people, it was hard to get good pictures. But we'd do it again- hopefully in a less popular month.

Lake Powell was probably one of my favorite stops while staying in Zion. Renting a boat from Renegade to take on the lake for the day was a great and relaxing way to end our trip. The Lake is about 2 hours from Zion and Horseshoe Bend is about a 20 minute drive away. The Lake is huge. You feel like you're on another planet. I feel bad for some of the people who had a negative experience. The boat company was helpful, although they were hard to get ahold of at times while we were trying to figure out where to park, which dock the boat would be at, etc. I'll always remember blasting music and cruising Lake Powell on that gorgeous day with my family. I chose family (teens) below but we're actually all adults but TripAdvisor doesn't have that option yet.

We rented SeaDoo personal watercrafts to ride on Lake Powell. What a great way to see the canyon walls and crevices! You should be an experienced rider because the waves can get pretty rough bouncing off the canyon walls.

The vistas are from a other planet. It is surreal to have a reservoir in the middle of the canyon. The idea of using the lake for recreation seems odd.

We did not plan to visit Lake Powell but I wanted to add some adventure to our trip for my husband and my kids. We rented two tandem kayaks from Lake Powell Paddleboard and spent the afternoon kayaking on the lake. It was a great family experience and some of the most amazing views ever. This place is a hidden gem and we almost missed it. We are already talking about when we can come back.

Was surprised that the boat trip offered such interesting landscapes really close to the boat. The water levels were very low and it was great to see how high it could go with the melting of more snow . Heading into Antelope Canyon from the water was also fabulous as had just done he tour down into the Canyon which I will review as well. It was worth the effort of waiting in queue , walking down and back although you could wait for a shuttle buggy.

We rented a deck boat for a day from Antelope Point Marina. And only managed to explore a small % of the lake. It’s huge and can easily find a secluded canyon to stop for lunch.
Also large play areas to mess about with boat toys. Other boaters curtious and lake seemed clean.

We chose the Lake Powell area for our tent camping trip because it was close to Antelope Canyon and we were so happy that we happened upon this area! The views were phenomenal from our camp site and the stars were amazing at night! Be warned this is part of a national recreation area so there's a fee just to get into the campground area unless you have a national park pass.

My family and I spent 5 amazing days house boating on Lake Powell and we loved every minute of it. We stayed on Kane Wash near the "Cookie Jar" Butte and used a powerboat (a must have) for water sport fun and to explore the lake which was vast. The views are incredible. The rock formations paint a backdrop against the sky that are amazing. The Lake is so huge, even during high season, we never felt like we were over-run with boats or people once off the main channels. Loved all the water sports. A day trip to Rainbow Bridge, which is only accessible by water is a must see. We would return to Lake Powell in a heart beat. Dealing with Wahweap Marina was a different story. It's run by Aramark which it the official concessioner and has a monopoly on the lake. Need I say more! It was perplexing that one of the main persons I dealt with, had a voice mail box that has been full since February. How does that happen? Once I did speak with her and could start emailing my questions it was better. The marina is staffed by young adults from all over the world. That was nice, however, some of the workers checking in guests had difficulty with English. They tried hard and we were patient, however, this could become a point of frustration for guests trying to understand contracts and complicated invoices. Our house boat was well used, but clean, which was appreciated. There were only 3 of us, so I couldn't justify paying more money for a boat with more amenities. We had issues with our powerboat and had to bring it back to the marina which was disappointing to have travel several hours to do that and cut into our vacation. We could never get anyone on the radio back at the marina to help us. Their equipment is well used and it seems they don't do inspections when it's returned. We also had an issue with our houseboat that could have been taken care of at the marina if it was inspected. Thankfully someone came out on the lake to fix it or it would have been tortuous to listen to a bilge pump alarm going off our entire trip. While my rating of Lake Powell it self is 5 star, my rating of Wahweap Marina is 2-star. They really need a seasoned manager there to focus on running it better.

We enjoyed our first trip to Lake Powell and all the beautiful scenery. As photographers, it was worth the trip. We stayed at Lake Powell Resort and enjoyed both the Horseshoe Bend/Slot Canyon tour and the cruise to Rainbow Bridge.

We camped 2 nights at the Wahweap Campground on Lake Powell... beautiful views and campground is all concrete slabs, nice fire pits and charcoal grill stands. Clean restrooms and showers. Have to pay for showers even though camping fee is pricey...$68/night and not included. Resort is nice and had drinks sitting by the pool one afternoon. Beautiful sunrises both mornings over Lake Powell. Exceptional stay!

We did a morning boat trip from Lake Powell Resort and it was excellent. Slow going in the narrow canyons for photos. Fast out on the lake

Lake Powell is gorgeous but it is NOT SAFE for pontoon boats. I'm going to leave this review a few places because honestly I'd feel guilty if I didn't warn people and someone was hurt or died. Since the water level is so low, the only way to travel from Wahweap marina to the rest of the lake (our goal was Padre Bay) is via "The Narrows." We rented a pontoon for the day from the Lake Powell marina in Wahweap. I decided on a pontoon bc it provided shade in the 100 degree heat. We had 10 people on a boat that fit 15 and my dad was the captain. We are from MI and my dad lives on an inland lake, owns a pontoon, and has been boating for 50+ years.
The Wahweap Bay was calm and the area near the marina was "no wake." It wasn't windy. However, as we entered the Narrows, the waves suddenly became giant from large boats' wakes and wave amplification off of the canyon walls. For those from the midwest, it was suddenly like being on Lake Michigan in a pontoon on a big wave day. There were (unknown to us) problems with the pontoon we rented which may have exacerbated the situation; but two giant waves crashed over the bow and another lifted the stern at the same time. The boat was literally pointed down and taking on water. Luckily my dad thought to throw the boat into reverse but for about 20 seconds it was pure terror of people in the bow literally scrambling/climbing up to the stern and adults searching for life jackets under the seats. The kids were all crying and traumatized (my 4 year old still won't go on a pontoon on a completely calm lake in MI this week).
I strongly think the narrows section needs to be "no wake." It is legitimately dangerous.

We have been going to Lake Powell for over 40 years. We have so many great memories enjoying family and many friends while boating, swimming, camping, water skiing, hiking, and just relaxing at Lake Powell. We were at Lake Powell in the 80’s when the lake was full. I actually drove boat up to Dam and stepped from boat to top of Dam.
Sad to see the water so low, but a visit to Lake Powell is always fun.
So many things to do. Sightseeing, boating, swimming, tours and just relaxing.

Take some time during your visit and rent a boat to travel on the lake. a great experience and enjoyable just to drive around

The lake may be at 1/3 of its historic water level, but it doesn’t really affect your enjoyment of the lake and surrounding area - unless you want to launch a powerboat (there’s only one ramp still in service).
There’s still plenty of water for swimming, boating, standup paddleboarding, and kayaking - and the scenery is breathtaking. The lower water level has actually revealed new canyons to explore and new beaches and places to hike. And there are so many things to do in the Page, Arizona area: rent a kayak or standup paddleboard and catch a backhaul service up the Colorado River and paddle back, do a flat water raft trip from the base of the Glen Canyon dam to Lee’s Ferry, do an Antelope Canyon tour by standup paddleboard or kayak, or do an Antelope Canyon walking tour, take a helicopter ride, hike the Page Rim View Trail, the Hanging Garden Trail, or the Chains for amazing views of the lake, rent a boat or go for a swim. We spent a week in Page and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and intend to return for more paddling and hiking.

First time here. As serene as it is beautiful. It wasn't over run with campers either. Actually found some seashells.

This was probably cheesy 30 years ago. Today, it's awe inspiring. Not that it wasn't awesome 30 years ago, but back in the day there was a lot of commercialism that was making the experience a bit artificial. The crowds have died down, the commercial aspects have given way to classic and it's totally an amazing place. Go boating, take a tour, whatever, just take in this amazing scenery and enjoy the unending sunshine it's famous for. Lake Powell is a classic.

Very beautiful area, with water levels dropping at 9” a day the land scape is forever changing and the lake is diminishing fast. Very scary between the draught and trying to balance lake Mead is dropping fast.

We rented our houseboat a year in advance with another couple that had no power boating experience. My husband and I have many years of boating experience (including at Lake Powell) so we were in charge of the boat this trip. I highly recommend that if you rent a houseboat someone in your party has power boating experience.
We rented a 54' Adventurer houseboat through Aramark out of Waweap Marina. Our rental was for 6 nights, 7 days. The houseboat we rented was classified 'economy' so we didn't expect first class, but our houseboat was very dated and while more or less clean, it needed a good scrubbing around the edges. Mattress covers and couch had spots/stains, furnishings were old and beat, sliding screen and glass doors did not latch (one screen slider kept coming completely off), the swivel chair for driving was broken. A plus were the nice sheets and towels. When you board, be sure and check that all items listed on the inventory are included.
PROS:
Lake Powell is an amazing place and can't be truly appreciated unless you can get out on the lake away from it all and stay on a beach, literally in the middle of no where. Unfortunately the water level is very low right now and there is no gas to be had once you get past Antelope Point Marina. We were advised not to go up the lake beyond mile marker 25 so that we would have enough gas to get back to the marina.
There are porters available to help load your belongings from your vehicle down and onto the boat and to transport your belongings back uphill to your vehicle when you return. They were a godsend, worked incredibly hard, and well deserved to be tipped generously! All the employees we encountered on the docks were pleasant, friendly, and helpful.
We paid for pre-boarding the evening before, spent the night on board our boat, received our instructions in the morning and were headed out on the lake by 9 a.m.
Ben, you are an amazing employee and asset to your employer! You have such an infectious, pleasant, friendly attitude and were very knowledgeable about the boat and it's operation. You were the shining star of all our interactions with employees of Aramark.
CONS:
My 2 star rating is definitely a result of the houseboat and rental service through Aramark at Waweap. The office staff at check-in are very slow, plan on having to wait quite a while. It took us over an hour to check in and there were only 2 groups ahead of us in line. There were initially 2 gals working, one finished up with her check-in and then left, leaving 1 person to handle all check-ins. It seemed that they were very understaffed on the dock as well. When we arrived, it took a bit of waiting for a porter to be able to help us. When we returned the boat and were filling up the gas tanks, the employee helping us explained that they were very short-staffed that day. It took over 2 hours of waiting to get the boat moved over for unloading, to get a porter to transport our belongings up to our vehicles, and to get that same employee to sign off and check us out. Not sure if this is all due to covid, but plan to be very patient and do a lot of waiting.
The ants on the boat were awful! Our first morning out on the lake when we awoke, the kitchen was crawling with ants. They were all over the counter, the trash can was moving with all of them, and they were all over inside of one of the frigs. We spent the rest of the week battling the ants that seemed to be coming from somewhere inside the workings of the refrigerators. There were also spiders and cobwebs around the boat.
Even though black water holding tank deoderizer was provided and we were instructed to add it to the kitchen sink and toilets daily (which I faithfully did), the raw sewage smell was awful after the 3rd day. The seals on both toilets (RV style toilets) were completely missing and neither of them held water. We used cups of water to help even flush the toilets.
The air conditioner is a joke and we didn't use it out on the lake. It will only somewhat cool the main living area/kitchen, but there are no ducts into bathrooms or bedrooms so useless there. It was at or close to 100 degrees during the day our entire trip so we brought cots and slept outside on the upper deck where it was pleasant at night.
ADDITIONAL ITEMS TO CONSIDER:
Bug repellant-the flies and gnats are everywhere and very annoying
Additional Fly swatters-1 is provided (ours had seen better days), but another 2 or 3 would have been useful. We made a concerted effort to keep the screen doors closed, but some still find a way in
In closing, would we do this again? Of course! We had a great time out on the lake enjoying the scenery, water, and company of our friends. Would we rent an economy level or houseboat from Aramark? Nope. Even though they are more expensive, next time we'll rent out of Antelope Point.

Good resort with some food and coffee available but we brought a picnic from town and sat at the picnic tables close to the resort. This is a gorgeous surprise in Page and definitely worth a visit if you are going to visit the Antelope Canyons. We didn't do any of the water tours but we thoroughly enjoyed the view and water scenes from the picnic area. The annual national park pass covers entrance fees

Lake Powell is absolutely beautiful. The water is so clear you can see right through it. The water was a turquoise color that reminded me of grand Cayman. I recommend everyone visit Lake Powell. There aren't works to accurately describe Floating between the canyons.

The lake and scenery are beyond beautiful. The Wahweap Marina, however, needs some assistance in their check in and customer service processes. We waited over 1.5 hrs in line to check in. Even though they tell you you can pick up the boat at 0800. Once we got inside the check in process than took another 20 minutes. We then had to wait in another line to get the boat. By the time we got going we had been there well over 2 hours. Which of course decreases the boating time, but they still charge you full price for it. Boat rental was $600 and gas was $122. So a day on the lake (2 hrs shorter than planned) was over $700. The staff was so lackadaisical they would just saunter around with no sense of urgency that there were numerous people in line. The orientation to the boat was next to nothing and upon return we had to tie up the boat ourselves and find an employee to check us out. So many things wrong with this picture. Thank goodness the scenery and water temp made up for this awful experience.
They could benefit from electronic check in eliminating hours waiting in line for paperwork.

We had a great stay at the Lake Powell Resort in Lake Powell and toured the area. Great visit and beautiful scenery.

We took a boat tour on the lake and it is a must do trip. Lots of photo opportunities and good commentary.

You don't have many choices when it comes to bodies of water in this area. But Lake Powell which is more like a river than a lake has several OHV trail entrances allowing you to gain some isolation and privacy while enjoying some cool fun on those 100+ summer days.

Beautiful area. We had an America the Beautiful card so we didn’t have to pay to get in. It was a nice scenic drive. We went to Lake Powell resort for a boat trip to Rainbow Bridge. I highly recommend it!

The only way to see this lake is by houseboat and also having a motorboat along. The main lake is great to look at but the side canyons and the rivers that come into the lake offer so much more. This is a fisherman and photographers dream place.

Beautiful Lake and staff and Antelope Point was fantastic! Rented a deck boat and had some fantastic views from the water!

Lots of history shared during this 90 minute trip on Lake Powell. The sandstone surrounds are breathtaking. The trip includes a ride to the Glen Canyon Dam, Antelope Canyon, etc. Well worth it, if you have time. The only downside is the steep uphill walk from the marina. Better accommodations should be made.

This place took us by surprise. We were travelling from Page to Bryce Canyon and decided to go via Lake Powell. It is stunning. We expected just a round lake but there is much more to it than that. Unfortunately we could not stay long enough but we would definitely make time for it on our next road trip.

Lake Powell is one of the main attractions in Page. The Rainbow Bridge trip is an 7-8 hours trip ( one day) on the lake with hike to the sacred Navajo place called the Rainbow Bridge ( a geological formation due to the water erosion of a rock which is in a shape of a rainbow having 89 m in high). It is a beautiful place that will be in your memories for a long time.

Even though this lake is man made, and there is something to be said about the changes to the eco system by submerging it all under water, it has created other opportunities and changes to the landscape. By adding water to the canyons, the peaks, crevices, bays, fjords, caves and cracks are highlighted in different ways. We went kayaking on a cold November morning, when it was quiet and majestic - leaving time and proximity to really feel in touch with these amazing formations above, to the side and below. The next day, we booked a flight with Grand Canyon Airlines and flew over the dam, Horseshoe Bend and all across the lake to Rainbow Bridge. The beauty is beyond description - even though I took pictures, on the return portion I just gazed in wonder at the scenery unfolding below.

Stay away from Lake Powell Resort, its a dated resort with few amenities and fewer working ice machines and pools. The staff (bless their heart) need some social interaction training. Time for Aramark to turn over the management to Marriott or Hyatt, they could make something of this prime location.

This is a great easy lake to manuever and visit - would be great with families or, like us, a solo couple wanting to get out on the water. We even were there on the weekend and it was totally fine in terms of crowds and behavior out on the water. It was hot and there really isn't much shade, so that is a thing, but boaters usually take all sorts of stuff and folks visiting take a pop up or umbrella, etc. :) Have fun!!

The lakes are amazing if anything it's a must for boat trip on the lakes or helicoptor or airplane over the lakes we did airplane ride and it was amazing

We made our reservation well in advance with Lake Powel Resorts. They were very professional. You have to enter the resort area on National Recreation Property which requires and entry fee. Our National Park Pass took care of it. Arrive early because there is an hour difference between Utah and Arizona time zones. You can wait inside the resort lobby which is very plush and airconditioned. There you can grab some food at the restaurant or snack bar prior to departure. The Lake Trip on board the "Miiss Bird" was
pleasurable. Your two options are the upper deck which is open and wind blown and quite sunny. Or you can go down stairs out of the wind and sun with large observation windows. It is also airconditioned on the lower deck. Coffee, ice tea, and water are complimentary. The scenery is awesome and keep your camera ready to snap pics of the beautiful cliffs along the shore line. Worth every penny spent.

I just can recommend to visit Lake Powell. There are so many things to do around and on Lake Powell. The boat trip to explore the different canyons, or rent a motor boat or a jet ski - o just a kayak to have a look at some canyons directly from the water - it's just amazing.

Sad little town and dried up lake..keep on going. Lake Powell is drying up and the town is just plain sad. Not worth an overnight at all .. nothing sacred

We drove to lake Powell and walked to the beach where we sat and watched the sunset. What a beautiful tranquil place to visit

If you are in the area and have an afternoon, take a Scenic Tour on Lake Powell through the Wahweap Lodge and Marina. You will be mesmerized!
Enjoy a meal at the Driftwood Lounge. An easy four star chef is working in that kitchen!

We only booked for a few hours kayak tour which took us up the other end of Anterlope Canyon which i woule highly recomend. However once the tour was over there is nothing close to keep you busy or to do so it was drive to the next site. Im sure you can book longer tours and boats etc which I would do if I go back, aim to spend a relaxing day on the lake not a quick few hours.

Attention kayakers. All the breathtaking Lake Powell canyon paddles are accessible from the Arizona side. If you are a long distance kayaker and enjoy battling house/power boats and jet skiers, then put in at Bullfrog Marina but be ready for a rough 5 miles to Lost Eden Canyon entrance. If not? The Halls Crossing Ferry, three hours from Bullfrog, is the only other option. We found this out the hard way reading misleading reviews on the internet.

Our original plan to visit Antelope canyon was nixed as it was closed due to Covid-19. So we decided to spend the day at Lake Powell instead and what a great idea it turned out to be! The water was so cool and relaxing as it was 104 degrees and the kids had a day of fun splashing and swimming in the cool water. The hike down to the lake was gorgeous and we enjoyed the different rock formations.

The lake alone is fantastic, but the nooks and inlets were more that perfect. We had a wonderful boat ride and would recommend this experience to all ages.

You won't miss part of lake view if you are driving around Page. It's an amazing experience to see this lake.

Great views. Cool water. Camp right at waters edge. No reservations.
Deep sand in places. Recommend you do not drive your sports car. It has been tried.
Holiday weekend is jam packed. The restrooms can be overwhelmed. Chemical toilet required if 200yds from a restroom.
There is an outside shower to rinse sand off at main restroom. Rv dump as well. No hookups.
Nice weekend.

Our group of four couples traveling together rented a pontoon boat and spent a day on Lake Powell. There’s only so much you can do in one day on the lake, but we had a fabulous day. There’s so much more here than anticipated.
The marina and dock are well done and the scenery is beyond description. The next time we will spend a week and see much more of the lake.

We stayed at a resort on the banks fo this amazing lake - more than 100 miles long. It's a stunning combination of nature and human engineering.

Be sure to try to book a cruise, especially out to Rainbow Bridge. It is a long cruise but well worth it.

I live in Arizona so I'm definitely spoiled and use to beautiful mountains and sunsets. But it's very cool to see a lake of still water reflecting the blue sky. I stayed at the lake powell resort in Feb so the lake was very calm and no one was out. I'm sure during the summer it's much different. I hope to come back soon to experience it again in another season.

Lake Powell is one of the most beautiful lakes! The water is clean and clear with beaches to access the lake if you don’t have a boat. They offer several lake boat tours at the marina if you want to go deeper into the canyons or to rainbow bridge.
Plenty of parking, scenic view spots and both tent and RV camping.

Great day with our family. Amazing scenery and lots to do. We hiked, swam, jumped off cliffs into the water, and enjoyed every minute. It is beautiful. Absolutely should not be missed.

Despite low water levels, we loved the view. The sunsets and sunrises were beautiful and we stayed at the resort. JetSkiing on the lake was a great adventure for us.

I mean yea, it’s a lake of water in the desert but it’s not particularly beautiful and the “beach” is just sand blowing in the wind filled with rocks.
For all I’ve heard about Lake Powell all these years, I was a bit disappointed to be honest.
It was a nice enough couple hours picnicking out of our car and taking a quick swim but nothing special.
Nicest part was just taking a cool dip on a hot day.
Watch out for getting stuck in the sand in or out, it can get a bit sketchy in certain areas.

Held back by the Glenn Canyon dam, this lake sits 5-700 feet above the Colorado River bed. Roughly a hundred miles long and having nearly a thousand miles of shoreline, it generates a million watts of power for the seven states in the Colorado River watershed. It provides water for a three state area in addition to its recreational value.
It’s importance to the area is reflected by the fact that the entire facility is run by the Dept. of Homeland Security.

Lake Powell was a beautiful area to walk and see the waters. The water was so blue. We enjoyed seeing this whole area.

We tried several days to get a boat tour on Lake Powell, water is SO LOW many of the tours were not operating. Also tried to rent jet skis with the same problem. Very sad to see the beautiful lake so low that many boats were out of water on dry dock. It would be a fabulous lake to tour, surrounded in natural beauty.

My wife and I recently were on a bus tour of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canon and Zion National Park. We had a two day stay on Lake Powell and were very impressed. This place has a unique beauty and is very restful and relaxaying. Be sure to take the forty five minute boat ride on the lake. The scenery is great. The swimming pool area is top notch. The Lake Powell Resort was a very good place to stay. We enjoyed this stop very much.

After visiting the Upper Antelope, back to Las Vegas, our bus guide showed us the Lake Powell. It is quite big in size and looks beautiful from far.

The scenery here is beautiful. The lake area offers recreational opportunities. Be sure to see Glen Canyon Dam if in the area. It is a drive to get here.

A truly wonderful day out, great scenery and lush water. Great swimming and rock formations. Good to drive around or rent a boat.

We rented a pontoon boat for the day and had a wonderful time. The lake goes on forever, and the scenery is breathtaking! It is also nice to get away from the crowds.

Unless you are there to go on a boat the time there is terrible. We went their for the lake and I was so disappointed. It isnt beach swimming friendly. The only place to go to the beach to play in the water is over three miles away. You have to walk their. You can't pack anything because the way up is up hill. The winds are horrible and not worth going to. Terrible, long trip and no reward to visit. Red ants everywhere and not worth the visit.

We had spare time on our Agenda, and drove out here to Lake Powell. I will say we were here in December and there was not much going on and the restaurants most were closed for the season. We are from Miami so are used to beautiful ocean water,so it was nice but nothing to go crazy about. If you have time to visit great if not don’t feel like your missing a lot. Enjoy

Lake Powell is one of my absolute favorite places in the SW Us because it's so close to the Grand Canyon. The views from Lake Powell and Page Arizona are absolutely wonderful. In addition, it's near Horseshoe Bend which is another popular tourist spot in Page.

The boat was a great experience to get to see the glen canyon damn from the water. They wouldn’t take us close to the dam. But the maneuvering through the narrow streams between the canyons is a great sight. The boat is operated by the lake Powell resort. Offer free lemonade. Air conditioned.

This is a beautiful lake with spectacular views of different canyons. At every angle you see the beautiful formations. My husband and I rented a 17.5 Bayliner from Powell Adventure Rentals and spent the day out on Lake Powell. The scenic views were unbelievable. It's a once in a lifetime vacation you will never forget. We now have some wonderful memories of this beautiful lake. I recommend renting a boat instead of a kayak. Those with kayaks were struggling through some rough parts of the Lake. Every time a boat passed, they struggled more.

A nice short ride around the rim trail/road of lake Powell in Waheap. Lake Powell is huge with almost a hundred canyon fingers. Have rented speed boats for short rides and house boats for week trips. All highly recommended.

All we did was see the lake from the Rimview Trail and the Chains. It was odd to see water in such a dry place. However, the lake level is way low. I wish we had had more time to spend time on the lake; however, it was just good to see it.

We spent 2 days on lake Powell . The first day we rented 2 jet skis through outdoor adventures and it was amazing . We had a picnic lunch on the beach . Make sure to bring food and lots of water with you !! The second day we did a guided kayak tour with hidden canyon kayaks ! Great guide and tour to lone rock ! The views and water are gorgeous ! We will be back !
Great sunset!
We went down to Lake Powell to view the sunset. Gorgeous!!! Our hotel recommended a spot overlooking the lake and it was a spectacular place to see it! Beautiful!
