The Lake is huge and lots of water sports. There are lots of restaurants and great food. Loads of places to hike or ride bikes. There are lots of little towns to visit and enjoy. Great for kids and adults. Simple....GO!

Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place to visit where snow is falling and everyone is skiing and sledding. It's a place you can visit anytime.

Lovely holiday with relaxing atmosphere, cool breeze and a mesmerizing ride in the lake. Visited with my family and friends and enjoyed it the most.

Lake Tahoe is a very beautiful lake. I went there at the end of September - the water was still very nice and warm. On the South side of the lake the water is very flat, on the North side it's deeper. The scenery is beautiful. I went on the beach to see a beautiful sunset. There were just a few people at the beach. In September most of the tourists are already gone but there are still many hotels and motels open. South Lake Tahoe also has McDonald's and other restaurants where you can have something to eat.

My friend and her Mom drove from SF City and just when we were entering...scenery is really awesome.
The place is sooooo clean, well preserved and i felt like im trapped inside a post card.
We stayed at Heavenly Village and boy it was lovely!!! Its like a small community of happy people. Everyone was cheerful and friendly.
I think it has something to do with the place. Its soooo charming that it's impossible not to fall in love.
I would definitely come back and would highly recommend to anybody who's in California.
A must visit place.

If you only want to gamble, come anytime. But if you hope to visit most anything cultural or historical, be warned! Literally everything we wanted to see was closed Monday through Wednesday in mid July at the height of the tourist season.
We did take the M.S. Dixie II Lake Tahoe cruise, which was nice. (Pick up bus driver was the best.) Hotels and the cruise were full. But the Lake Tahoe Historical Society museum, TALLAC historic site, Pope Estate, and Taylor Creek visitor Center were all closed the entire time were were in Lake Tahoe area.
Extremely disappointing. You would think they could at least stagger closing days.

Winter, summer, spring or fall, Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area is just plain gorgeous & fun with something to do for everyone

No dislikes! Just in aw of the beaches and fresh water. Thought I had seen some beautiful places but this tops all with the mountains pine trees and the ever so blue lake.

Even on a cold day, this part of the world never ceases to dazzle me. Find a place with a good view and drink it all in. The majestic mountains, the blue water, the green pines. Some state parks where the land is preserved, but also development near the water. Some swimming and boating. Just gorgeous.

I recently visited Lake Tahoe by car. Drove from the silicon valley in California to this heavenly place. The moment you approach Lake Tahoe - you can feel a difference. The fresh air will make you wanna stay there forever. Don't miss the sun rise and sun set by the lake. There are lot of things one can do here but you should not miss the visit to the near by mountains for a snow walk and sliding down the snow in the sunny weather. I wish I had stayed here for at least a week to explore more but had to wind up in 2 days. I am planning for another trip very soon. The kids will enjoy the snow and fun making snow man.

We only had one free afternoon to see Lake Tahoe, so we drove around it, stopping at just two places, Sand Harbor (close to Incline Village) and Inspiration Point. We had been told that everyone should see Sand Harbor but we had great difficulty finding it on google maps or anything else, so we were really pleased to just come across it. You have to pay $12 dollars to get in and park your car but it is worth it, there is a lovely boardwalk and the beach itself is such a surprise. The day we visited was mostly sunny and the beach was crowded with people in their swimmers, beach umbrellas etc - it was very picturesque. Even though there was snowmelt still pouring into the lake, there were plenty of people in the water, and a great feeling of happiness - everyone seemed to know how lucky they were to be right there in all that beauty. The surrounding mountains still had plenty of snow on them, making the whole scene look absolutely amazing. As you walk around the boardwalk there are little bays with crystal clear water - it is just fabulous.
Inspiration Point is also lovely, you look down on Emerald Bay and all the boats and a Swiss style castle, all made of wood and steeped in history, which is explained on various boards as you walk around - just lovely.
Lake Tahoe is obviously a very special place at any time of year and we were so lucky to be able to see it in all its glory.

Super dog friendly area and beautiful place. Recommend spending some time on both sides. Stayed at hotel azure and tamarack lodge motel- both were good values&stays.

The place is lovely and peaceful. During the beginning of winter season the snow gives a unique view from the roads.

Coming from the East Coast, where the mountains are older and, therefore, more worn down (shorter), and lake water is generally darker in color (due to mineral content), it was stunning to see Lake Tahoe. This gem is ringed by tall peaks all around it. The water is clear down to almost 60 feet. Definitely rent a boat and get on the water if at all possible. And the sunsets.... oh, the sunsets.

63 years ago our parents honeymooned on North Shore Tahoe near Kings Beach. We have come here nearly every year and have witnessed the growth and rampant development of a once pristine lake environment. Today, Lake Tahoe is still lovely and blue---I swam in its chilly waters, but the congestion of traffic and the proliferation of every sort of cafe, bar, grill, and fast food is dizzying. There are wonderful activities available of every imaginable sort--but finding parking, getting tickets, waiting in line is daunting and nearly everything needs to be thought out a head of time and probably booked on line....boo for the spontaneous among us! YET, while we avoid South Beach and always (except this year) clamber out of the car to view the enchanted Emerald Bay (the crowds were off-putting) we did find some beautiful and accessible beaches: both on the Nevada side: Sand Harbor, Cave Rock and Zephyr Cove all have good sandy beaches and public access. Some of the best beaches, of course, while not privately owned are blocked by private residences, associations and business interests so finding a beautiful spot may take time. All three beaches mentioned offer public parking for anywhere from $8-12, but were all full by 2pm. Then "creative parking" kicks in and cars line the generous shoulders as far as the eye can see.

Highly recommend you drive completely around the lake and take advantage of the great number of scenic stops for photo ops...then go down to the numerous beach spots especially on the eastern shore for a look and swim. Yes, the water is cold, but the beauty is incredible. Some of the nicest swimming holes are clothing optional so be careful if you have children. One of our favorite was Whale Beach. This one was half clothed (us) and have NO swimsuit, so again, be aware. We avoided the completely nude beaches as we felt we were intruding, but if its your cup of tea you will find Creek Beach and Secret Cove to be among the most beautiful. We snuck a peek from the trail above but were a bit too modest to go down to the water :)

A true gem to visit. With a little work you can get away from the crowds. Check in with the chamber of commerces around the like for off the beaten path ideas. Sunscreen is a must if outdoors for more than 20 minutes. Take a bottle of water on any hikes. Mountain Biking is off the charts and lots of places to rent bikes.
Road ride is not good unless it is an organized ride. Truckee, Reno, Carson Valley and Markleeville all are excellent for road biking.

There are so many things to do here it is hard to begin. First would be the beauty of the location and the wonderful clean fresh air. There are great places to stay as well as wonderful restaurants and the entertainment at the hotels at Stateline is really good. The Like is pristine, boating and fishing are wonderful, hiking in the mountains is invigorating. Any outdoor sports are available horseback riding, tennis, golf, you name it. It is truly an all year round location

The most beautiful place is the Emerald Bay. There is a boat you can take and enjoy the view. You can make sports too at the lake area.

How stunning... I heard so many things about Lake Tahoe... But nothing prepares you for its beauty in real time.

beautiful lake and very dog friendly area. The southern area we were at had a large sand bar that you could walk a long way into the lake before it got deep. The dogs loved it too and it got them very tired so the evening was more relaxing. The lake itself is beautiful with the mountains surrounding it. You get some great views of the lake from the hikes around it as well. We went in May and will definitely try to come back during ski season and the summer.

I went to this heavenly place in last November. It was just the first snowfall of the season.
Icy cold and due to snowfall, boating and all other adventurous activities were on peak.
This lake is another version of Pangaong lake in Ladakh, India.
We just missed the Gondala ride here. It was in testing phase..
Otherwise it was an memorable experience..

Went on a cruise with my niece and nephew. Tammy and I had a great time. Lake Tahoe is so beautiful and cold if you are not use to the water. Lunch as always was fantastic at Sunnyside restaurant.

Such a peaceful place. the day we went it was chilly. Had just snowed a few days before, but not much snow was on the ground. There were not many tourists around, so got to walk around and really take in the beauty and peace of Lake Tahoe. The drive up was beautiful as well, and I think is part of the experience. The locals we met were all nice. Would love to come back during the summer or winter to really see the area in different seasons. This place should be on your bucket list!

This is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been. I liked driving a whole circle around the lake and stopping to take pictures. In some places you are right along the water. In others you are up high looking down. The lake is so clear. Spring is a nice time to go with the melting snow creating some waterfalls. Great. Spot.

We were staying in Reno and took a drive to Lake Tahoe. Had a delicious breakfast in this quaint little restaurant then explored around the Lake. It is such a gorgeous place with the lake and the snow capped mountains in the distance. It would be a lovely place to spend a couple of days relaxing.

Don’t get me wrong, we enjoyed our stay. But unlikely we’d do it again. Our Napa/Lake Tahoe vacation was an add on to a business trip in Sacramento. For the cost of things from water bottles, meals out, food at the grocery store, gondola tickets at Heavenly Mt, tastings in Napa, they were are extremely over priced for the value of the experience. I told my kids I’d much rather have enjoyed a Tybee Island, GA vacation at half the cost.

One of the most prettiest lake with crystal clear water. The view of the lake around the mountain is spectacular. Lots of excellent food and Cafe options are available...

Spent time in both SLT and NLT....by far North Lake Tahoe..Squaw Valley, Truckee, Incline Village are far more beautiful..the skiing more difficult though. Neither will disappoint you for sure. The locals are awesome, so happy that you are here to see and visit their part of the world!

This is a beautiful and huge lake. One will not expect to see such a huge lake amidst hills. It's beauty mesimerizes you. Jet Ski, Parasailing activities make it even more enjoyable. Gandola Ride is a must to get one of the best views. However, if you are planning to visit on a long weekend better plan your trip with advanced bookings. Visited July 4th weekend and it was crazily crowded.

Lake Tahoe is a must for everyones bucket list. Seriously, it is such a beautiful, peaceful place to visit. There is always something new to discover. We've pretty much been South Lake Tahoe people but the whole lake does has something to offer. This visit we went to San Harbor State Park along the northeast side of the lake. There was a charge of $12.00 (year round) and even though it was off season, it was well worth it. We did the blanket/picnic on the beach, relaxing in the sun, sitting on the rocks, just gazing at the sparkling water, the blue skies, just total relaxation, a great way to enjoying Mother Nature. A must when visiting...take/or rent a bicycle, you can see so much more. On the down side of this visit, it was so sad to see the smoke rolling across the mountain due to the King's Fire and knowing all the damage it was doing.

Enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe. My preference is North Lake Tahoe versus South Lake Tahoe because of its focus on nature and healthy living. Tahoe is often thought of as a winter vacation destination due to its olympic level skiing resorts however my favorite time in Tahoe is during the summer months of July and August. It is hard to beat Tahoe in the Summertime.

This is a definite "must see" at Lake Tahoe. The view of the lake is just breathtaking . Parts of the road to get there are a little scarey but it is well worth it. As others have suggested, go early.

For once I'm at a loss. How does anyone review paradise? Lake Tahoe is 12 by 22 miles, about 72 miles around, surrounded by majestic mountains with more ski lifts around the lake than in all of Colorado (or so I'm told). Summers are the busiest time ... unless you prefer to ski. There is outstanding EVERYTHING for every season.

Travelling here in early April gave my family the opportunity to see this pristine lake without many tourists around as compared to peak summer and winter months. Definitely recommend taking a trip out to Emerald Bay while you are here!

Awesome to drive around the Lake. Takes all day but is worth the time! Great views everywhere.
Good restaurants, good shopping, friendly folks. Have visited for several years and never tire of it.

Lake Tahoe is situated in the north east of the California State and a part is in Nevada state. It is a fresh water lake. Many small beaches are there on both eastern and western sides. Tourists used to come and enjoy the place.

I like the views from the California side. Nice peaceful, fresh-water, alpine lake with about 72 miles of shoreline. It has a maximum depth of 1,645 feet. The locals live a relaxed lifestyle, but the resort town can get hectic during high season periods, such as in our visit. Some of the restaurants were packed with diners.

it was wonderful drive from Sanfrisco to Lake Tahoe up around 3.5 hours..
Very rare combo of Forest--Lake--Fountain--Ice at One Place ...
Its very Gorgeous Lake by look...for roaming around the lake as well as roaming in the lake by Car Boat too..
Lots of Casino around the lake with lovely Hotels lake side..
Its better to stay overnight here rather then going for one day...
The Best Place is Emereld Bay...
its up on the mountain from where one can be able to see Lake with a excellent picturseque site nd even in the month of June nd July there is lot of snow near Emereld Bay so after taking a picture you can play with snow...
Lot of Entertainment activies around the lake with Lovely restaurnt to dine at with variety of cuisine..
Its Must watch place in California to roam around with the friends as well as one of the place for even HoneyMoon with three Night Package..

Wonderful, stunning! What beautiful blue! Masss: very difficult to tour this lake. Next: can not park anywhere almost, has few paid parking and they crowd up very fast. Parking is around $30. The bike rental is $60 per person. Even with all this, I would still come back because I found it very beautiful. I recommend going to Sand harbour (unfortunately I couldn't go)

Anyone who has this on their bucket list must go! The scenery is unbelievable. Straight out of a movie. The town itself was delightful, beautiful little shops and a great brewery for lunch. Such a great day out - we hired a car from Sacramento and did a day trip.

Approached from fallen leaf we followed a trail with lots of information along the way. The lake is huge with wide sandy shores. We were there midweek, early June, and there were lots of visitors enjoying the area.

Had an amazing experience with family in Lake Tahoe!!!! I recommend everyone to take a vacation here at least once!!! You will not regret it! It’s so peaceful and yet so exciting!!

Mark Twain wrote about a water so gin clear that you could count the scales on a trout! This would be lake Tahoe. We found a quiet beach and spent a blissful day swimming and snorkeling in the frigid water, and defrosting on the hot course sand beach. It was absolute bliss. I cant wait to get back.
I recommend wet-suits, even in summer, and definately bring lilo's and other blow up floatation devices to enjoy the water best.

Started out on Monday Mourning 9am, we left The Marriott at Timber Ridge and headed west, turned Right on 89 North and The Fun Began! Stopping where we could on some of most Beautiful "back Drops" of The Lake and Mountains that you can Imagine! took us 5 hours to make the trip,Well Worth the Time, If your into the Hiking, you can Spend lots more time on this Trip. Must do if you are in Lake Tahoe. WOW, Just an Awesome day!

First time visit and would like to return. The hike options are really good so we need to explore more. The Vikingsholm trip with various hikes and views + kayak rental was amazing.
Was a bit disapointed on the dining choices. In my opinion a very few great options and it was clear Covid has had an impact here. Would love to explore more in the future due to the exiting area and beautiful lake. Hope the city centre picks up business and expand the dining options. ( If the options are hidden in the hotels then marketing should increase awareness)

Crystal clear, blue water. Perfect for sightseeing and clean air for hiking. Not my first choice for water sports as it is a bit choppy

You arrive to the lake and you get to the whole different place, it looks like Canada's little town with wooden houses deep in the forest, a lot of trees and huge lake. I loved the atmosphere in this area, I would love to come back, because we spent there only one day. We went in second half of September and we were planning to swim there, but we barely could go out of our car to make some pictures because it was extremely cold and windy. A better ideawould be to go in summer or in witer for ski season. However, at this time it will be more crowded, of course.
We came from Napa to the North Lake Tahoe first, and then decided to go down to South. The sun sat very fast so most of the time we were driving in darkness. There was no one else on the road except us and no light except one from our car. It was very scary and creepy. You should make this trip in a day, to see all the beauty with stops to enjoy the views and to make pictures. And, in my opinion, it's better to stay in South Lake Tahoe because it's bigger and more touristic (hostels, cafes). It's a very peaceful and gorgeous natural place.

Lake Tahoe is a very beautiful lake located between Nevada and California. Everyone knows about it so it is over crowded ALL THE TIME! There is very limited parking near the lake and it is like being in Mombai India there are so many people thronging the sites. Because of its over crowding and expensive cost, I would leave this lake off my travel itinerary.

What a totally beautiful place. The scenery is spectacular !! And from north lake, west side and south end. Must see Emerald Bay... just puts an exclamation mark on everything. If you visit once, you will want to return.

It was my first ever visit to the fabulous lake. Views are great especially Sunset which opens a whole new canvass of colors. Trigger happy Cameras can have a feast of views. The lake water I am told has receded due prolonged drought; kind of sad, but at the same time for some one like me who is not so good a swimmer, but like to be in water this is fun. You walk 200 meters into the water from the shore and you will be just knee deep in water. Water is so clear and calm and the best part is that unlike the beach of a sea you don't get the sticky feeling when you get wet in the water. The resort around the lake offer a variety of accommodations from medium to luxury stay. Weekends are mostly busy. It is place for all seasons since apart from lake the areas has lot of fine skiing slopes.
Must be a part of itinerary when visiting California.

We have been living in silicon valley for three years and finally got a chance to visit Lake Tahoe. This is a place where you can find pure peace and joy. Lake changed color when the time changed. We walked on the beach for hours and it was the best trip ever.

Lake Tahoe in my opinion is a must see for anyone visiting northern California.
We drove from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe, the route was scenic and it was a fun drive (there wasn't any snow or ice on the road tho)
There are spectacular views from all sides of the lake but we especially enjoyed the views from Emerald Bay and the waterfall near there.
Visit the far side of the lake that is inside Nevada for Vegas style casinos and buffets (Although not as glamorous as Vegas)

Stayed in stateline nv, took the circle tour around the lake good choice, breath taking views an plenty of places to stop to eat take pictures an hike if your into that.

We had been taking hikes everyday and decided to rest by taking a drive around the lake. I generally just stay in Incline Village and always thought the lake was the same all around. It looks very different as you travel around it. If you have at least half a day this is a great way to spend it.

Natural beauty. Clear water and mountain views all around. Blue sky's. Depending on the time of year it might even snow while the sky's are blue. Seeing it snow in the mountains while enjoying a nice spring walk an amazing sight.

We drove all around the lake stopping off at various places to take photos and just take in the amazing scenery . We stayed in South Lake Tahoe and the drive in total took around 3 hrs , there were road works all over which added to the time taken. A little piece of heaven on earth

Absolutely a must see for those traveling in this area. This is a beautiful lake on the border of Nevada and California. Drive the route that goes around the lake itself. There are multiple attractions to see along the way, mostly tourist types of stops. The casinos on the south end are first class. Just a great destination!!

Lake Tahoe, so many times mentioned by Americans everywhere. Why would they be so obsessed with this particular lake if they have thousands? Well, now I know why. The landscape is beautiful. It is a marvelous place for relaxing and doing nothing. In my opinion the Californian side is too crowded, too many buildings. The Nevada side is more relaxing, though many areas are private. Anyway, I hope I can repeat it one day.

We drove from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe, covering 200 miles in under 4 hours .A smooth journey to North Lake via Route I 80 and Rt 287.Spent some time at the Kings Beach and then drove another 40 miles around the lake to Emerald Bay at the South Tahoe Lake , enjoying the great natural scenic beauty of the fresh water lake at a height of 6500 feet surrounded by snow hills .This lake is a nature's gift with an average depth of 1000 feet extending a basin of size 22 miles long and 12 miles wide .
We spent an hour at the Lake and drove back to San Francisco via Rt 50 up to Sacramento and then via I 80.

When coming down i50 you get Great Lake views. Even better when you get here. Nice beaches and beautiful views in every direction.

Have spent the last 12 summers in the northwest area of Lake Tahoe. A drive around the lake offers
spectacular views and scenery. Some nice towns along the way. Tahoe City has lots of restaurants,
galleries, and specialty shops. There's a marina for boaters (rentals available) and a nice beach.
Emerald Bay on the CA side of the lake is a must see. South Lake Tahoe has Vegas style casino hotels
and Edgewood Golf Club a beautiful public course along the lake. Lake Tahoe is a great vacation destination.

Just don't miss this one if you are in California or Nevada. Amazing place to visit with multiple vistas !!! Great place for water sports lovers too !!! Took a boat ride to Emerald bay and what an amazing experience it was.....simply a visual delight !!! A day trip is good but an overnight stay will do better justice.
Definitely a bucket list material :-)

Lake views are stunning, you will see miles of beautiful blue lake and surrounding hills and forest. There are few hiking trails there.
You may go for day hike or simple admire the beauty of Mother Nature.
Parking may be a hassle as they are limited.
Must visit.

Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places to visit in California, not to mention our nation! If you love the outdoors, this is definitely a place for you! Great place for Summertime fun on the beaches and the lake. Plenty of trails for hiking and there are many camp grounds all around the lake. You will love anywhere you camp or stay in this beautiful area.

I've been to Lake Tahoe many a time in my life. Each visit to the lake and surrounding majestic mountain range of Sierra Nevada is a privilege and joy. What better way to experience nature in its pristine glory and drink in all the wonder than at Lake Tahoe and the plethora of trails nearby? A great place to visit all year round. The folks are friendly, most of the restaurants are good, and there's so many things to do over there. Perfect for adults, teens and kids alike.

Ice-cold water to refresh even the most weary traveler. Fun rocks to climb all around... or just lie on the beach with an ice cream cone!

The easiest way to travel around the entire lake is to self-drive. It takes ~3hrs of driving time to go round the entire lake. Of the entire trip, the best place to stop for photos was at Emerald bay (Inspiration Point Vista) and Sand Harbour. There's also a number of small turnouts along the way that offers great view. As such, be prepared for impromptu stops along the way. It's best to cover the trip via going around the lake in clockwise direction. This way, you're driving on the side of the road nearest to the lake and it'll be far more easier/safer to drive your car into the vista points/turnouts.

You should try to be a reliable bus service. Especially when people are counting on you. The drivers at this non-service constantly call in sick or don't show, or are never on time. I've been in cities all over the country and never experienced such a poor organization.

The day we drove, it was very foggy. Its alomost 4 hour drive from San Jose, We just went for a day but it was all foggy and dull. I have seen much better pics of this place. Was disappointed because of the weather. Also, drive up to get a view of the emerald Bay state park.

I visited here for a couple of days and I must say that if your travels bring you anywhere close to the area, it is certainly a must-see. Crystal clear water and vistas abound. Hiking was primary on my agenda - and I got in a few very good ones - but I was able to take in the lake as well. I can't speak of winter crowds, but if you visit in the summer, be prepared for heavy traffic and packed beaches. That's really the only downside here. Even still, it's worth a visit (or two).

The prestine beauty of Tahoe is a sight to see. One of my favorite trips ever, full of breath taking sights of mountains and lakes. Take your love, your family, your friends....but GO! You will not soon forget and never regret this wonderous place.

We visited on Labor Day. As we were driving into Lake Tahoe, it appeared that THOUSANDS were leaving and the roads leading out of Lake Tahoe were bumper to bumper, slow traffic. Fortunately, we were driving in! We only had the day to visit Lake Tahoe. We chose to stop at the visitor center on the west side and then drove around the lake. A half day allows for a nice drive around the lake with a few quick photo stops (not during a prime time or during a special event). We did not have much traffic driving around the lake and it took us approx. 3 hours to drive around the lake. We stopped at 1 or 2 places for brief photo stops. It is very scenic and a photographer's delight. Ideally, we wished we had more time to be able to stop more and spend time in some of the little towns. A half day only allows a drive around, it's not enough to spend time visiting anything. If you want to visit and spend time at a stop or two, and plan on driving around the lake, plan on at least a full day.

Beautiful lake we drive around the lake which took about 2 hrs with stops. Wish I had seen this before Yosemite as i was not able to really appreciate its beauty. If you are planning on seeing both Yosemite and Lake Tahoe I suggest you see Tahoe first as it is beautiful... Pleasant surprises await as you drive around the next bend with different views every time. Loved Tahoe!

This place is almighty every part is so perfect . The water is pretty cool for fishing and kayaking and swimming also.
There are a lot of opportunity for skiing in winter.

It's a better place I have ever seen. I Really want to go to this place again and again and again. I really love Lake Tahoe. Must Visit This place. It was my second place visit in the US.

If you haven’t been to Lake Tahoe you are missing out on an amazing place to see and spend time exploring.
The views are spectacular, the skiing is great and the towns are picturesque. I would highly recommend a visit there and make sure you visit Garwoods for a great pub and fabulous meals.

The lake Tahoe can not be said as a lake but sea because one cannot see farthest border of lake and huge size. Colour of water is amazing. Different blue colour shades are seen into lake. On shore there is white sand and is absolutely clean. Close look is mind bogling. One can get total coolness at beach.
Emrald view is again great experience. This is extended portion of lake & portion of lake was forming small three sides closed iseland. In between small iseland in which one could see little park made.
To go to this place road was hilly and curves. It took to Emrald view. There are treks available.
Good Hotels , Restaurants are available and city is neat and clean.
Any one wants calm, cool, silent, nature loving place then this is the place.
There are lot of boating activities, gandola ride available but timings have to be checked.

Lake Tahoe is breathtakingly beautiful! We drove around the whole lake and it took 4.5 hours which included stops and sightseeing. Must see if you’re in the area.

The in-betweens when there is no snow or good weather there lots of micro breweries, marijuanas to be had for recreational purposes of course, wonderful mountain outdoor environment, lake activity-fishing boating, fireworks, tennis, pickle ball, beaches, hiking, festivals, garage sales, exercise centers, been living here for 20yrs

Calming place, beautiful scenery from Emerald Bay. Certain slopes with signboard to drive at 5mph wasn’t joking. It’s like making a U turn on a down slope or an up slope.

The beaches are incredible! We drove around the mountain and into CA. We had great food and music at Kings Beach! Free concert.

The view of Lake Tahoe from the top of the gondola was spectacular!! There weren't many people, so it was comfortable! I wore a thin long-sleeved T-shirt, which was just right for me since I get hot easily. I wanted to ride the zip line I often see on websites, but it was discontinued and instead there was a lift like the ones you ride at ski resorts. There was a short zip line, but it was $50 so I didn't ride it. By the way, the lift was free and I was able to enjoy the view while feeling the breeze, so it was great! Lake Tahoe was just so beautiful!

This was my 2nd visit to Lake Tahoe.I like this area very much but the government has to improve the traffic with a better logistics. It is ridiculous to spent 7 hours from Castro Valley to South Lake TaTahoe.I am not sure if I return again.

Lake Tahoe is a large Californian lake which measures about 75 miles all round. The water is a deep blue apart from Emerald Bay which fully lives up to its name. There are natural sandy areas round the lake for bathing. We took a half day trip on a paddle steamer to fully appreciate its beauty. We would advise staying to the north of the lake which is more reserved. The south is noisy and busy with gambling halls and too many large hotels and shops.

The grand scenery of Lake Tahoe is inspiring and most impressive and a natural wonderland to enjoy. Would recommend taking the Lake Cruise from Zepher Cove for a two hour introduction to Lake Tahoe. Excellent views and facilities are outstanding. Secondly, take the seven hour bus tour around the Lake to see the many varying views of beauty to behold. Enjoyable scenery and excellent tour guide make for a very economical tour. Even lunch at Rosie's Café in Tahoe City was very good and the maize of décor including the rattan motorcycle among the antique bicycles and many other antique conglomerations adds to the luncheon experience. Excellent food and service awaits the lunch break on the tour. By including Squaw Valley in the tour, site of the 1960 Winter Olympic Games adds another plus to the day long adventure. With many snow capped mountains from the record breaking snow season here, it was a photographers delight.
Even the head gate that diverts water from Lake Tahoe to the Truckee River was delightful and informational. Being the second deepest natural lake in the U.S.(1644 feet) behind Crater Lake presents a colorful lake with clear water and deep views.
Would highly recommend both activities to enjoy Lake Tahoe to its fullest.
As with any tourist area, there are shopping opportunities for those desiring to participate. Many galleries, museums, eating choices and activities to meet every ones fancy.

When driving the entire span of Lake Tahoe (California & Nevada) you should be prepared to be there all day long. Stop at various spots and take picture. The best way to travel is from Reno via 431 - Mt. Rose Highway. Once you make the curve near incline village, there is a Scenic Overlook of the entire lake, a must if taking pictures. Once you get to highway 28, turn right. Take the California tour first. There are many areas for photo opportunities and to relax and have lunch. Crystal Bay should be the first stop. The next must stop is Highway 89 at Emerald Bay. The EB Scenic Overlook is a must. Just be very careful of parking along the highway. In addition, be careful of a short span of highway 89 where Emerald Bay is on one side and Cascade Lake is on the other. The road is narrow and doesn’t have any guard rails. Very little room for error.
When driving on highway 50, just before state line, there are a few more places to stop. Once you enter into Nevada, go down to Hard Rock, Park in the parking lot and walk the area. Once you continue your travels from the 50 back to highway 28, don’t forget to stop at Zephyr Cove.
Once back on highway 28 for the last 13 miles, one other spot to stop is Sand Harbor. In the event you don’t want to travel that extra 13 miles and want to get back to the Reno area, just take the 50 out to 395.

A very popular place to visit and a very worth place too. However, avoid school holidays like many beautiful places...its gets so busy. Overall, amazing beauty to see and enjoy the shores of this dazzling lake.

Lake Tahoe is the second clearest lake in the world and is truly beautiful! It is fresh water, so the water is not salty! The shoreline that makes you wonder if it really is the ocean? It's great to swim, it's great to kayak ♪ There's the Keep Lake Tahoe Blue movement and there's a lot of movement to protect the transparency of Lake Tahoe! This is as much a place to visit as Yosemite if you come to the West Coast of America! Oh, this is the spot I want to go with my friends!

Lake Tahoe is pure magic, but Emerald Bay is the crown jewel. Seeing that crystal clear, blue-green water framed by jagged peaks is a total "pinch me" moment. You have to check out Fannette Island the only island in the lake and the ruins of the tiny stone tea house on top. Whether you're kayaking the bay or hiking down to the historic Vikingsholm Castle, the scenery is absolutely top tier!

The water is unbelievably blue. From light to dark blue. Only thing I've seen close is miami or key west waters. Tahoe water is very cold however

Lake Tahoe is truly a breathtaking destination! The crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain backdrop create an unforgettable landscape. There’s something for everyone here—hiking, biking, and skiing of course in the winter.
I loved the relaxing environment and enjoyed the charming nature
A must visit city

Lake Tahoe never disappoints. A little chilly, beautiful water and mountains and sky. During the week, lodging prices drop. Can't wait

Came here for three days with a friend . The lake is beautiful and there are a lot of benches and places to walk or run . Sunset from the shore is a must do

Spent 4 days in Lake Tahoe gambling. Had a room at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, and visited the 3 casinos nearby.
Harrah's- The only casino that offered 24hr table games. Minimums went from $10/15 in the mornings to an across the board $25 between noon and 4pm. Then some were as much as $50 minimum. Craps here had Bonus Craps (ATS-All Tall, All Small, All or Nothing) as well as the Repeater Bonus. Their digital craps had no bonus (bonus on # of rolls before 7-out was deactivated).
Harvey's- Sister resort to Harrah's. One craps table, ATS bonus craps. $25 minimum. The table games here open at 4pm. All table games had $25 min.
Bally's- Two craps tables, ATS bonus craps. $20 min. Table games opened at 11am. All table games were between $15 and $25 min.
Hard Rock- Two craps tables, no bonus craps. $20 min. Table games opened at 11am. All table games were between $15 and $25 min
The beach was $25... yes, just to walk onto the beach.
Off-season (no snow), but still a relatively lively night life.

Lake Tahoe is all about lines. You have to make a huge line to ride the gondola, another to buy lunch, another to get down the gondola, another to hire private lessons, etc. Is all about lines!
If you like to make lines, lake Tahoe is your place.

You haven't seen the best of California until you drive around Lake Tahoe from one side to the other. The road is narrow in some spots but the views of the lake are unsurpassed.

We took a nice drive on the East Side of Lake Tahoe. This is the Nevada side, We drove up Kingsbury Grade to get there and drove down Mt, Rose Highway.
The lake was pretty, We also stopped for a bit at Cave Rock.

Oh My Goodness ! What a beautiful area to spend a couple of days. The Lake itself is so blue and clear and all the alpine towns and villages on the shoreline are so pretty. Take the 72 mile drive around the lake (clockwise for best views) stopping of at the vista points to admire the beauty.

We drove to South Lake Tahoe, there is an information centre there that give you a free map and guide. Then we drove all the way around this beautiful lake, which takes around three hours. We stopped at a couple of stunning beaches and took a detour into Nevada. It is just gorgeous, mountains in the background and a crystal clear lake. I recommend it here. We all enjoyed it.

I've lived here for 20+ years - this place is always cool. Even when it is cooler or rainy it is still a great place to be!

I recommend Everyone to go Lake Tahoe, I went in the summer and the view is spectacular. Also I recommend everyone to drive all around Lake Tahoe , it's around 70 miles, but is worthy to see it.

Yes, it is a beautiful blue lake with large boulders and clear water. That’s it. Totally overflowing. Lake access is almost impossible free of charge. It is collected at every parking lot. The trails are well developed and heavily visited. On weekends, resort prices are hardly affordable. There are more no parking signs than trees. From our point of view, the detour to Lake Tahoe is not worthwhile.

It's a very beautiful place. Nice view & lots of things to do. U can go swimming, casino and lots of restaurants.

Beautiful place. I cannot recommend it enough. Go when it is snowing- go when it is warm. Any time of year is perfect. (If you get car-sick like me, pop a few Dramamine tabs before you drive here!) Bring your hiking boots and layers! Get out there and check out nature.

You can't miss seeing this if you are in the area. A beautiful lake with a backdrop of mountains. Everything looks so Serene and beautiful.

Tahoe is the jewel of the sierras. Rugged beauty, with lots to do: Skiing, boating, hiking, biking, golfing, and the list goes on. I LOVE living here. South Lake is more crowded than North Lake; likewise, west side is more crowded than east side.

Lots to see and do but many parking areas already closed for the season, which given it was 24’c when we visited made snow seems long way away. Some good view points to stop and take pictures and roads were not too busy even though all the open car parks were full. Would certainly return if in the area again.

Not overly impressed. Yes, it is beautiful.. just like all the other mountain lakes we saw on vacation. Tried several spots to actually get to the lake and they charge everywhere. Finally just went up the drive and did the normal scenic drive with the lookout points. Lots of pretty pictures of water and trees. Not sure what the big deal is really. Not worth the time it took to drive to it. I guess if you have never seen a lake in the mountains go here.. see it.

Despite the low water, fishing for trophy rainbows is good. The water clarity is superb, the water temperatures are a bit high and baitfish and crayfish populations seem about normal.

Lake Tahoe is a must see for anyone going to the Sierra's. The lake water, although very low due to the drought, is still crystal clear; unfortunately the skies were not thanks to numerous fires raging in the west. Aside from the smoke, go see Lake Tahoe any time of year.

We hiked down one of the trails, best way to see the shorelines. The drive is amazing around the lake.

My Boyfriend has a ski pass, so we go here often. This is definitely my second favorite place in the United States at the moment. It's so beautiful, quiet, and fresh. I could sit next to the lake for hours and enjoy the sounds of nature. But then again, I enjoy going downtown and hanging around where the people are so friendly. Definitely a place to consider for a weekend getaway.

Lake Tahoe can easily be reached from California on either Interstate 50 or 80 . The North Shore is closest to Reno , Nevada and there are plenty of Hotels to accommodate you all year round , The South Shore is easily reached from California on route 50 and has plenty of entertainment and Skiing ... Enjoy !

I had been to Tahoe several times before and even though the experts say the visibility in the lake is diminishing, I believe that you can still see 70 feet below the surface, The entire lake is beautiful, but my favorite view is from Crystal Bay and Sand Harbor. When the sun hits the lake in the late morning, it looks like a mirror from an elevated vantage point. This is still the most beautiful Lake that I have ever seen in the world!

Most beautiful place I have even been to
Lake Tahoe
3 hours drive from San Francisco
Must experience the Gondola Ride to the top , scary and fun at the same time
The snow coated mountains on the way were a treat to the eyes
Mesmerising
Great to see even young kids going for snow boards without any fear.
Lip smacking cafe on the top for a feast

Go there. Just go! I Would not have been without this experience. Og Wad so Beautiful and amazing. What colours and nature - jeez.

Developments all around this beautiful mountain lake west of Sacramento, and against the Nevada border. Very busy on weekends with part time residents and visitors. Boating and hiking, and skiing in winter, with heavy snow falls.

We spent a couple of days traveling around Lake Tahoe. It was very beautiful and we were lucky that we had bright sunshine and temperatures in the low 60s. It could not have been nicer!

I had read a lot about Lake Tahoe and was prepared for another typical lakeshore experience after having lived in many places with lakes from India to Minnesota. But the astounding view of Lake Tahoe as I burst upon it driving in from Sacramento on US 50 was breathtaking. Nestled in a bowl surrounded by towering snowcapped mountains of the Sierra Nevada and whose surface is at more than 6000 feet above sea level, with no outlet for the water into an ocean other than through evaporation, with a deepest point more than 1900 feet deep and a average depth of 900 feet overall, Tahoe is truly one of the greatest sights I have seen.
I went in April, when the snow has gone for the most part, the highways are clear of salt and sand and the skies are clear and blue. The drive up to Lake Tahoe climbs to more than 7200 feet before dropping down to 6200 feet at South Tahoe. The drive around the Lake is 72 miles long and can take as little as 2 hours, often much more. There are several pullouts that allow you to take a break, make a stop, take pictures and smell the pine scented air and sample the fresh and icy cold breeze.
The blue of the water is an incredible blue - that blue that comes from deep waters of cold mountain melt reflecting huge blue sky. The water is cold - 39 degrees - and stays so for most of the year because of the size of this lake. The surrounding mountains remind you of the small size of man and automobile. The air is pine fresh and the roar of the lapping waters is the only sound that you hear.
I must warn tourists that parking is not plentiful and as the day passes, several visitors troop in from the Bay area with their visitors from abroad to show off Lake Tahoe. I went in very early (8:00 am on a weekend) and was able to enjoy an uncrowded time with nature. There are plenty of eating spots and picnic grounds along the way and both California and Nevada have State Forest parks (which open in May I think) . A day ticket was $7.00 and that also provided access to many sandy beaches.
Tip to travelers - plan to reach early to get the most out of a day trip. Even better, rent a lodge or cottage and venture out from the shelter of accommodations rather than taking a chance with a day trip.

this was our lunch stop for the 1st day on our ati western bonanza tour and I enjoyed the location. we had time to go to the beach and if we had packed our cosy, we would have had time for a swim. however, I did not notice anyone in the water, maybe it was too cold. there were people paddle boarding, but we could see any hire shop. the place we stopped at had the paddle steamer pier, but we did not have time to take a trip. the location was very scenic and stunning. we spent just under 2 hours at this location. the ground is sandy, not good for wheelchair or heavy buggies. but the stretch from the car park to the nearest beach location is quite short.

I have been going to Lake Tahoe since I was 2 years old. I am now 50 and have been continuously traveling to Tahoe all of the years in between. This is your PERFECT get away from gridlock and stress! Once your arrive, the smell of the forest lingers all day as you have so many options for outings. This is the place to go, people!!! You will NOT be disappointed!

The shop which is called "Shoreline of Tahoe" has everything a visitor needs to rent or buy to enjoy the Lake Tahoe Outdoors. Boards, board shorts, and bathing suits and everything else you need to enjoy the lake.

Went to Lake Tahoe in April 2019. It was magnificent. It’s a long drive from San Fransisco but so worth it. The sun was shinning and the mountains were full of white snow. It was so pretty.
There are lots of places to stop and take photos. I recommend going at the start of spring when the sun is shining but there is still snow.
We stayed overnight at the Azure Hotel which is nice. It had convenient parking and our room overlooked the lake. The room was spacious and clean with nice amenities. Had dinner at the brewery at Lake Tahoe. There was a good selection of dishes to choose from. Meals were huge and delicious and the staff were really friendly. Service was good and meals came out quickly.

The lake is fantastic and large. Emeral Bay is the highlight. Drive, walk, snowshoe along the lake. It is very pleasent.
Usually Emeral Bay is closed for traffic of bed weather.

Got into town and found a wonderful family hotel for $50 bucks! Looked like a cabin. It was off season they said. Next day did the drive all around the lake during the day. Beautiful views and just a lot of great things to see around the whole lake. Did a casino with a food coupon and had a great meal! 50 per cent off! This is a great place to watch nature. The day we left we went around the mountain and saw the first snow of the season (October) falling in the morning. It doesn't get any better then that! :>)

Lake tahoe is a very good place to visit . . . .
A beauty to stay, see all the places covered with snow
Family will enjoy the place for sure

The absolutle best part of my Northern California tour had to be South Lake Tahoe! A bucket list adventure, you will enjoy the topaz blue of the lakes on a nice sunshine filled day. Hiking is superb offering a ton of different trails up and down mountainsides. Eagle falls and Eagle Lake are great trail examples plus VikingSholm castle trail. Lake Tahoe is free to enjoy, just park by the visitor information center, otherwise $8 bucks gets you into 5 different beaches. You have cellphone service unlike Yosemite Valley. There is a conservative crowd feel, money and outdoors all combined for a comfortable experience in the forests and lake. Words cant describe it, celebrities and politicians have vacation homes here for a reason, go check this spot out for sure! Make San Francisco and Lake Tahoe the top priorities of your Northern California Experience!

You have to put Lake Tahoe on your "bucket List"....I would stick to the Californian side , but that is by choice , the moist spectacular scenery, great eating places , excellent " hole in the wall" cafes , winter a skiers wonderland , summer a playground on the lake . Best hiking and walking tracks and great people. I would avoid holiday periods like 4th July weekend if possible.

We decided to spend some time at the lake explore, bike, hike and really get a good feel for everything. We have young kids and they had a great time. We can't wait to go back soon.

Lake Tahoe offers all kinds of activities for families, from easy and more challenging hiking to boating, water skiing (and snow skiing in winter most years), and many other water and land activities. The mountains are beautiful and smell wonderful. Rent a house/condo where you can cook and eat as families or camp and enjoy sleeping under the stars.

Snowshoe John was the best tour bus driver. He was very gracious and extremely helpful. He recently drove my club around for 3 days and our shuttle was always on time and so pleasant. The bus was very comfortable for our trips to and from the ski resorts.

Have you ever wanted to swim deep into a bottomless lake? If you have, then Lake Tahoe is the vacation spot for you! At 1,645 feet deep, Lake Tahoe is not only the second deepest lake in the United States, but also the tenth deepest lake in the world and the largest freshwater lake in the United States. This makes for an extraordinary vacation because there are many activities for all ages and numerous places to explore. I rate this vacation spot five out of five fish. Lake Tahoe is one of the best vacation spots for many reasons and one of them is that there are over thirty public beaches along the Lake Tahoe shore. Many of the beaches have paddle boarding, canoeing, and ginormous boulders to jump off of into the beautiful clear turquoise water. Also, there are many places around Lake Tahoe that offer parasailing, boat rides, water skiing, and snorkeling. However, there is a lot more to do in Lake Tahoe besides going to beaches and water sports. There are hundreds of parks with breathtaking views of the lake, miles of hiking trails and several zip lining spots around the lake.
Additionally, there are over four thousand five hundred rentals surrounding the lake. The rentals include all houses from quaint cabins to monumental mansions. For those who are not adventurous and outdoorsy, there are many things to do in the several towns along the Lake Tahoe shore. With over four hundred and thirty six restaurants in Lake Tahoe and hundreds of stores, there are many diverse activities to do around the towns. They have everything from high-end clothing stores to bait and tackle shops.
Therefore, Lake Tahoe is the best vacation spot known to man. With countless opportunities and activities to do at all ages, your days will be packed with fun, enjoyment and excitement. There are tons of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and many new things to try. The trip is also rewarding for all types of people. Adventurous and outdoorsy people love the landscape and all the activities to try in and out of the water, and others love the shopping, the views and the tourist attractions. A Lake Tahoe is a must-see location and the vacation is an experience of a lifetime.

The lake itself, while beautiful specially in winter becomes an after thought compared to the natural beauty of the landscape as you drive towards the place. The lake area is studded with hotels and other attractions aka casinos competing for the attention of visitors.
It was a winter wonderland that we saw, a means of communing with nature's majestic beauty.

Excellent paradise for a Romantic Getaway. The environment and climate is so rich with love. There are lot of cheap accommodations (motels / Inns) that are not advertised on media but you will find cheaper rates on the ground than internet. Thats what i will do next time.
This is truly a couples Paradise. The Beauty of virgin nature and the calm lake with the snow covered mountain - all you have to take is your partner and a blanket.
If you liked my review and find it helpful and do "like" it. This will help others.

If you appreciate nature and the beauty thereof, Lake Tahoe will blow your mind! Remember to pack your own food and drinks, as there a allot of picnic and hiking points that you can stop at. Beware of black bears as they can typically smell your food from miles away. This outing is spectacular and the swim in the lake was, well, 'refreshing' he he he! Go check it out, it is great to see how stunning mother nature truly is xxo

There is a reason people come from all over the world to enjoy Lake Tahoe: it's like the caribbean. but colder..

Perfect spot to relax! Beautiful views, good food, live music, outdoor activities. Wine cruise was excellent!

This is one of the most attractive tourist points of the USA, situated across two states - California and Nevada. Kings Beach is famous for boating and watersports. Children as well as adults find the Mini Golf Course very entertaining and interesting. We stayed at Brockway Springs near Kings Beach on North Lake Tahoe, and drove via Tahoe Bolvd to the Emerald bay for a cruise in the southern lake shore while returning back to San Francisco bay area.

Lake Tahoe is so damn stunning and I am so glad I did a day trip from SF. There are scenes and vistas you will see that you will carry with you always - gorgeous place! Especially the Emerald Bay :)

I do recommend Lake Tahoe, it's impressive the beauty of this place, the lake is huge and integrated in the landscape. You will feel like in a postcards. Perfect for vacation with family. For sure I'll go back!

Pristine Lake and the amazing surroundings. lots of activities to do including ski resorts, gondola rides, snow boarding in the winters.Summer lake activities includes jet ski's and para sailing etc. Dont forget to try your luck at the Harrahs/Harveys casino on the stateline. Nice restaurants as well in the vicinity and inside the Casino resorts.

Plenty of mountains and awesome scenery. Great camp sites and plenty to do on the beach such as kayak, jet skiing, and boating. Food options are limited and pricey. Overall great place to visit.

We have visited Lake Tahoe numerous times and enjoy each time we go. Although recently we have not had much snow due to the drought, there is usually a winter and summer season at Lake Tahoe and both are wonderful.
When we go to Lake Tahoe we generally stay in South Lake Tahoe at the Marriott as we usually get a very good deal there. South Lake Tahoe is close to Stateline, where the casinos including the new Hard Rock Casino are. We also like that location for Heavenly Village where restaurants, shops and a movie theater are.
We love to explore Lake Tahoe area. For the best views, we like Inspiration Point as well as the Nevada side of the lake best.
We have driven around the lake and stop at many interesting places along the way
a) Bijou Park - Disc Golf
b) Vista Point
c) Vikingsholm
d) Lake Tahoe Dam and Gatekeeper Museum
e) Various parks all around the lake for picnics, hiking and water play
f) Views from Nevada side of the lake
g) Driving through the Cave Rock Tunnel Area
h) Stopping and exploring the various towns around Lake Tahoe such as Tahoe City, Incline Village, South Lake Tahoe, etc.
and more
There are numerous wonderful parks around the lake. We have visited them. We like to hike as well. We have gone fishing on Lake Tahoe, but generally stay at Lake Tahoe and fish at a small lake nearby such as Boca to the north or Caples Lake to the South.
We find that there are good places to dine around Lake Tahoe. For a special meal, we like the Edgewood Restaurant right on Lake Tahoe, and like to go an hour before sunset.
We also like the Fourth of July Fireworks on Lake Tahoe - although annually, its always a special event for the area.
The mountains make for awesome scenery.
We also like to go out on a boat on Lake Tahoe. We have done it by ourselves in a power boat or taken a more commercial cruise such as Ms. Dixie and Tahoe Queen.
There are also festivals that take place such as winter festivals, Shakespeare summer festival, wooden boat festival, hot August nights, and more. We like it that there are good music and concerts.
There is a variety of hikes, par courses, trails to bike and many more physical activities to do.
In short, Lake Tahoe is awesome and as such an excellent place to go to visit (which we do often). We have gone with friends, extended family, and as a couple. Its so much fun.

Lake Tahoe was absolutely beautiful and cold was there 3rd week of January 2023. Did enjoy the Gondola ride in Heavenly Village. Observation deck is a must for beautiful pictures

Planning your photography trip to Tahoe Lake is not just a visual journey; it’s a celebration of nature’s artistry, where every click of the shutter captures a moment of serenity and splendor. Embrace the challenge of distilling the essence of this alpine wonder into your frames, and let the magnificence of Tahoe Lake unfold through your lens.
On the isolated island, nestled amidst the shimmering waters of Emerald Bay, the ruins of a small stone building stood defiant against the passage of time. The locals spoke in hushed tones about the enigmatic structure known as the “Tea House,” a relic of a bygone era. The once-majestic building, with its crumbling walls and weathered facade, whispered tales of a remarkable woman named Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight, the former owner of Vikingsholm.

Lake Tahoe is really far from a city. Most specially Sacramento where we came from! Took us 2-3 to be driven to the lake itself. Luckily, there are rest stops along the way and a couple of fast food chains. About the Lake cruises, its a really big boat (I recommend staying at the lowest floor where the souvenir shop is located because you get to go out and feel the breeze! Its really nice when you stay inside the boat because from time to time, the sun gets stronger and it gets really hot since that the cruise goes around the lake all over to the Nevada side! We stayed on the lowest floor too because there was barely any space on the main and upper deck. The souvenir shop is loaded with shirts, magnets, bears, post cards and a lot more of gifts. The people are really friendly. I can tell you that no single person got mad the entire cruise. Though, sometimes its really hard to lock bathroom doors (Must be jamming a lot) but yeah. Its a really cool place, really cool view and a very cool but slow cruise. Especially the view from the side of the lake. Its so clear that you'd see the other side of the lake across more than 15 miles across I suppose

You have to get a tahoe inspection to put your boat in the water. But wait, unless you are a local, you cannot get an inspection until July 1st-5th. After the 5th they are closing back to locals only!!!?? So unless you are a local no boats!!! Basically the states are going to open the inspection areas for a few days during their busiest time of the year to take $100 from every sad sap they can squeeze through the check points. Don't participate in this ridiculous scheme. For the government officials that decided this was a good plan👏 you all should be ashamed of yourselves!!! Oh, and no fireworks, so???? Why go!!!

Gorgeous lake up in the mountains. The water is cool and crystal clear. The sand is fine and white. Unbelievable place to share with your family. Highly recommended.

Visited the west coast of the lake and it was a beautiful site. Little cold in late March/early April but the views were still awesome!

If you LOVE nature at its best, Lake Tahoe is the place to visit! I loved the ride down from Sacramento!!! The lake is beautiful, the falls are beautiful, the colors were crisp and bright! Loved it!

Went to Lake Tahoe from Reno,NV for the day.
It was breath taking to see the lake, mountains, and all the beautiful fall colors! Perfect if you love photography! I got The most gorgeous pictures on that bright sunny day.

the vistas are amazing. A photograpers delight. Nice hiking. Bring a picnic!
fall is a great time to visit, the colors were already changing.

The journey to Tahoe Lake (CA) is an experience. It has deeply penetrated in my soul; will stay as an everlasting memory. The beauty is comparable to Darjeeling, West Bengal, INDIA.
My son and his wife drove alternately from Santa Clara. My wife, I and grandson were enjoying. We stopped at many places on the way to Tahoe Lake. We took photos at Twin Bridges and many more places. Our accomodation was book at a Vacation Rental (280). We enjoyed the scenic beauty of the swans in the early morning. Only 15 days has been over. But Tahoe is pulling me always.

Gorgeous scenery! Would stay another week. The boat ride was so much fun. Emerald bay is a must see!

We had expected to stay one or two days in Tahoe but in the end we stayed for four or five. The scenery is stunning, the lake is huge and the variety of attractions extensive. We went canoeing on Emerald Bay, which was a lot of fun, hiked a bit and cycled along the lake shore. Our RV site was on South Shore, and we drove up to Tahoe City for dinner at a lovely restaurant where we met some friends, eating overlooking the lake. The kids found a wonderful ice cream shop, and there was easy access to a large supermarket with a great variety of wine and beer :-). You could easily spend a week in Tahoe and only begin to scratch the surface of all it has to offer.

Going around the lake is wonderful, but not during peak hours 7am to 10am... but if you don't arrive early there are no parking spaces... so how can you stop to see every little part... it was difficult, we couldn't park in several spots, and when There was space, it was only 20 minutes away... then there wasn't time to see everything... on Friday there was no traffic, but on Saturday it was impossible to stop... but it's beautiful! Unmissable!!

The water is crystal clear. Watching the colors change from sunrise to sunset is a treat. There’s so many things to do and see and way to enjoy the water. One of the best places on earth.

We visited the day after Yosemite so were not expecting much. The town is ok, but once we were directed to Emerald Bay - wow we saw another side to Lake Tahoe

Definitely something you have to experience at least once in your lifetime. The water here is so crystal clear it's breathtaking! Just bring some things for a picnic and relax by the water or even dive in if it's hot enough!

6 stars for natural beauty - but max 4 for everything else. Towns and area are as touristic as it gets. And during season the place is beyond crowded so expect queues and difficulties finding parking. Temperature's pleasant during summer - and it cools down at night. I'd prefer to go off/low season

A must and very beautiful place. We stayed there 2 nights. On the other hand, the visit of the lake by motorhome is very complicated. There is no suitable parking and very often complete. Plan a bike rental budget if you want to move around.
Budget +++ Awards remain higher than elsewhere.

Have bee to Lake Tahoe on a number of occasion to hike, boat, ski, and just be with nature - have never been disappointed. The area is beautiful, friendly and laid back. Best option is to rent a condo or house and go to the local markets or eat at a few of the good restaurants along the lake.

Because we (a couple) went to Lake Tahoe driving from Death Valley, the cool temperature of the area near the lake made good enough impression of this place. If in Death Valley, it was +52 celsius, then here it was a bit more than +20 during day and cooler during night. What a great refreshment!
Also, a general memory that stick in our mind is the nature's fragrance of huge trees and pines, which will never fade.
The water in the lake itself was also cool that stopped us from swimming in one of its beaches, located in South Lake Tahoe. In general, only little kids were swimming, while their parents were freezing in sweaters on the beach.
The only thing that disappoined us (at least in South Lake Tahoe) was absence of interesting souvenirs (any kind of plates for the walls) and expensive price (40 dollars) to use Heavenly Gondola (cableway) during summer. As a result, we didn't enjoy views to the lake from the mountain.
However, on our way out from the lake, we visited Inspiration Point Vista. Its great views made us stop regretting about not using cableway earlier. As a result, we kept Lake Tahoe in very good memories of our visit to USA.

This was one of the best photo tours I've been in. Jim, who teaches photography at the local college, was an expert teacher. Not only did he show us some of the most amazing sites to photograph, but he was also incredibly helpful with camera settings. And with a background in geology, he was also so informative.
I learned so much about Tahoe geologically and historically. I'll be sure to return in the spring. Gloria

Popularly known as 'Jewel of the Sierra' , the Lake Tahoe is all season attraction.Summer you can try kayaking, boating, sailing water skiing.Winter offers you skating, sledding, snowshoeing .In spring you can go for hiking, mountain biking.Lake Tahoe is the highest and deepest alpine lake in the world. The crystalline water lake has beautiful mountains on all sides.you will be
mesmerised by the scenic beauty of the Lake.it is the perfect place for relaxing.
Try the daytime/sunset cruise which offer beautiful views all along. The sail boats offers a look through the glass bottom viewing Windows upto 75 feet. The Nevada side offers large casinos. The Gondola offers beautiful views.During our visit in first week of May we were lucky as there was snowfall.
We had a memorable week end.
Lake Tahoe is 485 miles from Los Angeles and 188 miles from San Francisco and reachable round the year.

It was a amazing experience, we enjoyed a lot. This is really a heaven on earth. I would love to go there with my family again.

Taste the scenic view from the top of the mountain and enjoy the bbq party under snowy winter weather.

We had a great couple of days at Lake Tahoe, we were stopping at the Olympic village, we hired a kayak for an hour in the morning (which is when the water is usually calmer according to the hire place). We drove around some of the lake too and stopped at a few view points, a wonderful place.

I have been here quite a few times in Summer. I've not spent much time on the busier South side of the lake. I would recommend the quieter North Side. It's so naturally beautiful and the air is clean. The water is slightly cold but swimming is refreshing in the hot summer sun.

Great place for everyone, family beach and boats, drive around the LAKE..it's wonderful from every angle,
South shore and Encline have casinos and lots of fun bars, great food. Don't miss a day or a few days in Tahoe. I ended up buying a home there! Summer weather is perfect and winter skiing and après ski is a blast at Fire and Ice, by the main gondola. Check out Tahoe Keys Vacation Rentals, get a place on the marina/water. Super fun and they have a private indoor pool and private beach, safe for the kido's

We were looking forward to our first visit to Lake Tahoe and planned two days, eventually only one. The lake and landscape are beautiful, but not as spectacular as their reputation suggests. Many lakes in Europe can easily keep up.
Those looking for peace and untouched nature will be disappointed. Even though we were there during the week and in the off-season, there was a huge crowd everywhere. Lookouts, trails and parking lots around the lake were totally crowded. Especially in Emerald Bay, we struggled to find a parking space – and we did so early in the morning. Eagle Falls barely carried any water in September and was therefore unimpressive. The gondolas at Lakeview Lodge were even closed for the rest of the year in mid-September.
The villages around the lake are primarily tourism-oriented holiday villages with correspondingly high prices for hotels, restaurants and activities. Incline Village to the north was still most likely to look calm and tranquil. South Lake Tahoe, on the other hand, is more reminiscent of a small alpine Las Vegas with its casinos.
In short: We were a bit disappointed and travelled earlier than planned. For locals, Lake Hoe is sure to be a pleasant weekend destination, but for international visitors with little time, there are more rewarding alternatives like Yosemite National Park.

Being residents of san francisco, if there is any weekend when we need a short relaxing trip, then lake tahoe is the place. come in any season does not matter its great

We stopped at several places around the lake whilst on a road trip. Views are stunning and it’s so picturesque. Easy to find places to stop and Shoals vista is not to be missed

Lake Tahoe has everything: scenery, beauty, water sports, hiking, biking, horse back riding, fine dining, resorts, wild flowers, deer, bear, coyotes, and on

There are so many places to ski I'm not sure where to start but they're all beautiful regions around the lake. There are runs made for everyone including young children with good schools at most resorts. Some places like Northstar and Alpine Meadows have valet parking and make it very easy .
There are many strands around the lake from Captain John's on the North Shore and Sol Domain and some of the restaurants such as the sage room at Harvey's on the South shore sure is excellent. The red hut is great for breakfast but you have to get there early to beat the line. Overall it is a wonderful place for couples and families alike

We stayed in South Lake Tahoe and while the lake is beautiful to look at, you cannot do much in the water because it's so frigid year round. Also the area is overall expensive and either you have to pay to even get to the shore of the lake or it's off limits to non residents, especially on the north end. The trip out here is off the bucket list but unlikely to return.

We drove around the Lake and it was probably not worth doing the complete circle. The view at the overlook on Emerald Bay was spectacular, but don't do it on the weekend as it is chock a block people. Much of the drive all the way around the lake is not on the Lake so doing the entire circle was not very productive. I would go a bit farther than Emerald Bay as the road farther overlooking the Lake also provides some spectacular views, but I would turn around and head back to South Lake Tahoe after the road hugging the cliff if that is where you are staying.

I live in Sacramento, and against my better judgment I went up to Lake Tahoe about a month ago to escape the smoke from the fires. I have to say that it lived up to my expectations as a tourist trap. I got caught in a CHP speed trap in an undeveloped area between Meyers and South Lake Tahoe going 52 mph in a 40 zone--at least the cop didn't pad the ticket. He followed me for about a mile before pulling me over to see if he could get me for another infraction. I came to a complete stop at a stop sign and counted to 3 before continuing to make sure I wouldn't get a second ticket, and then the cop pulled me over. The copy of the ticket I was given did not have current instructions on how to pay for it, and I was informed that I would *not* be notified my mail. The cop scribbled the name of a website on the ticket (only barely legible on my carbon copy) and informed me that it was my responsibility to check the website after a month to get payment information (amount, where to mail it, etc.). If I forgot, the amount would double and then I *would* be informed by mail--a clever system for sucking more blood. There aren't any speed traps where I live, so it was particularly irritating to get caught in one while on a pleasure trip. Doing some research, I discovered that Lake Tahoe and its environs is wall-to-wall speed traps. The city of South Lake Tahoe has at least a dozen, and Meyers about half that, and that's just one small part of the lake. The city and county get a piece of the revenue pie for each traffic ticket given, and I'm sure they make millions off of unsuspecting tourists every year. Just one more reminder that when you go to a major tourist area like Lake Tahoe you're only one thing--a wallet.

I would fall short when describing so much natural beauty. It really is beautiful and you have to visit such an amazing place, plus is very affordable.

It was great i saw a band i had not seen in ten years mombo gumbo, just stopping by to go to the bathroom , i danced for hours with my girl freind , A must to catch these shore line concerts and go to the local food booths, though we prefered Jasons grill

We stayed on our friends cottage near Lake Tahoe and I would like to say it's just amazing.. Water is so clean, towns around are just unique 😉

This the special lake that i ever seen. For those who like photography. It is a very cool place to visit... for those who is the first timer. This is best place to visit. Recommend to go early morning. The snow on top of the lake is simply amazing...

We were only passing through the area on a summer Saturday, but I was surprised how universally commercial and crowded Lake Tahoe was. We took the east rim drive south to north. There are not many places to pull over and view the lake, even in the NE part which is state park. When there were those spots, they were hard to get to and full. So if wanting views from the east side, make sure to go north to south so at least the pullouts are on your side. The traffic is so steady that crossing against traffic to reach them is tough. The lake is large and pretty from the glimpses we got, but I was disappointed there weren't any quiet areas at least on the east side. It's clearly very popular on a summer weekend with swimmers and boaters. The drives to/from the lake are extremely steep and windy, so those with fear of heights will find them challenging.

Lake Tahoe is a very beautiful place and well with a visit. But, as an international visitor you need to expect it to be very busy. If you are wanting to do particular hikes I suggest starting out very early in the morning. We were not able to stop and do the hikes I had planned because we could not get a car park. The free parking spaces are limited. Also be prepared to pay for parking at certain areas around the lake. Do your research prior to arriving. You can get a parking pass that will cover the areas around the lake that are run by the state parks service. We were unaware of this. We saw a sign at a reserve that said Fee Parking. We thought it said Free Parking and got caught parking without paying. Another tip is to have some cash so you can pay for parking at the reserves.

Over years of contact with this gorgeous portion of The US, we plumped to explore some of the less travelled lake's transparent and true North Shore. The only way to do this and experience some of the glimmering shoreline 115 km.... is at water level.
We joined a guided paddle trip through the behemoth boulder mazes of Crystal Bay. Paddling by day is a glorious pursuit akin to meditation that works on all your senses. late afternoon we repaired ashore for refreshment and wind-down time, recharge the batteries and toast the huge moon as it rises over the shadowed Carson Range.
Thank you Tahoe Paddle & Oar for our incredible cruising experience.

Our hosts drove us to Lake Tahoe via Sacramento & stayed overnight. The trip for almost 2.5 hours going through high altitude & the view up the mountains & down with freshwater streams were wonderful experience! Love the vibe of the city with nice restaurants & walking tracks plus the serene beach, not crowded in Springtime. Overall, a beautiful place to visit.

Very nice lake, really to see even if the water is cold. Many hotels and restaurants nearby, as well as casinos. Beautiful hikes to do, Water Things to do and beautiful bike path. Everything is quite expensive though.

We went to Lake Tahoe as a family trip. We parked against a high rock and crossed the street where the lake is located. You will need to do a little hike down in order to get to the lake. The lake is very clear. There was a huge rock with just a pink bikini bottom. Nice! Since we went in the spring time, the place was not crowded. We had a great time swimming in the lake and exploring the area.

The tranquility of the water contrasts with the vibrantly white snow, capturing your heart. The whole experience of going up in a cable car, walking around in the snow, building castles and snowmen, and returning in the cable car with a view of the majestic Lake Tahoe, is exhilarating. This is a ‘must do’ trip for everyone who visits California.

I have always wanted to visit Lake Tahoe and it doesn’t let you down. The scenery is awesome and there is something for everyone. We did the 75 mile drive around the lake and there were plenty of places to stop and take another great photo.

... Lake Tahoe is beautiful and full of things to do. Swimming in the lake during the summer (after seeing it freezing on winter) was a nice experience.

Our first but not last time to tahoe was an excellent choice for our getaway. There is really too much to see and do in a limited amount of time . Fall is a beautiful time of year up here and for any fellow east coasters who miss fall foliage come visit and you will be rewarded.

Really enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe in the summer. There are so many water sports and activities to do, options of hiking or biking, eating, or just relaxing. Casinos are open late and there are food options open late as well.
We rented a boat to take out to Emerald Bay and soaked in the sun. We saw bald baby eagles in their nests along the shore. In a previous trip, I went up the gondola which made for an impressive view.

My wife and I love to come here, the views all around the lake are spectacular. If you like to gamble, the casinos are nice and shows are reasonably priced. Local restaurants are scattered around with choices to pick from. There is something to do whether hiking around the lake, fishing, skiing in winter, shopping or just driving around sight seeing. You can not explain the beautiful vistas in words, you kave to see them for yourself!

I camped at lake Tahoe overnight this June for my birthday. Lake Tahoe is so very beautiful and my friends and I took an evening boat trip around the lake which was just stunning. We got some amazing pictures and it was just such a relaxing trip. The boat served drinks and light refreshments and we sat on the open top area and enjoyed the scenery. There was a lovely bar and shopping area also prior to getting on the boat. The sunset was just one of those moments that stops time and all you can do is feel grateful to be there enjoying it. Had always hoped to get to see lake Tahoe and just happened to be passing through on a larger trip and would definitely go back and also hear it's great in the winter for skiing.

Lake Tahoe is a stunning place to visit any time of the year. The clarity of the water is stunning and the snow on the mountains is wonderful.

What an incredible place! Unfortunately the public toilet facilities were beyond disgusting! There was no toilet paper, the floors were flooded and the pit-toilets were so full, people had used the floor as a toilet! Shocking to experience especially because it’s a popular tourist area- one would expect it to be maintained!!
Perhaps remember to carry a toilet roll around with you, just incase.

Nothing quite captures the beauty of Lake Tahoe on a sunny warm day. It's one of my favorite places anywhere! Beautiful clear calm water, an amazing backdrop of snow capped mountains, stunning vistas at every turn in the road, the list is endless!
I would highly recommend a visit, even just for a day. However to really enjoy it, i would suggest staying a few days so you get chance to explore!

It's my paradise. There may even be more beautiful places on this earth (not by much), but I doubt the other places will offer as much as Lake Tahoe. Everything you need and nothing you don't.

Lake Tahoe is a magnificent alpine lake boasting 191 square miles of crystal-clear water surrounded by granite peaks and conifer forest. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound; this scenic paradise is popular for camping, hiking, fishing, wildlife and bird watching, swimming, skiing, rock-climbing, and enjoying watercraft. Boat cruises and guided commercial tours are available. Services such as campgrounds, hotels and restaurants are plentiful at the towns around the lake shore. Some of the accommodations on the Nevada side of the lake offer casinos.
After doing some research, we decided to spend only one day at Lake Tahoe. We wanted to enjoy the scenery, but traveling with a wheelchair limited the number of activities available. The lodging at Reno and Carson City was more reasonably-priced, so we stayed overnight along Interstate 580 and drove up Mt. Rose Highway (NV431) at daybreak on a Sunday morning. It's only a 30-45 minute drive to the lake at Incline Village.
Our first stop was at the Tahoe Meadows Interpretive Trail. This easy 1.3-mile path leads along a stream and through open meadows and pine forest (no views of the lake here). We were the first ones there and enjoyed a quiet, solitary morning hike. The route was not marked well, and a couple of times we weren't sure we were on the right track (a portion of it was more like a forest road). This trail is described as wheelchair accessible, and we did manage to complete it with determination, but sections of the trail were eroded or had accumulated deep sand that made it difficult. I recommend that wheelchair users equip with wide tires and bring assistance. The trail head is at a paved parking area on the south side of NV431, about 16 miles southwest from I-580 and 7.4 miles northeast from Tahoe Blvd. (NV28) in Incline Village. Note that the Rim Trail also uses this trail head; the Interpretive Trail starts on the east end of the parking area, near the restroom. The elevation at this location is about 8700'.
After completing the hike, we drove NV431 southwest to the lake at Incline Village, stopping briefly at the scenic overlook (about 4 miles past the Tahoe Meadows Trail) for our first view of Lake Tahoe in the distance. From Incline Village, we followed Tahoe Boulevard (NV28) for 5.5 miles south along the east side of the lake shore to Sand Harbor. We could see the lake for most of the way, but there were very few places to pull over for photos. Unfortunately, the road and Memorial Point Overlook were both under construction for the new East Shore Trail.
We arrived at Sand Harbor State Park just before 9:00am and cars were lined up to enter ($10/vehicle). This park provides beach and boating access to the lake, as well as a picnic area, two short trails, and a visitor center with educational exhibits about the Lake Tahoe ecosystem. Restrooms, food, and gear rental (kayaks, paddleboards, etc.) are available. In July and August, Shakespearean plays are performed at an amphitheater in the park in the evening (tickets required). We explored the visitor center and walked the wheelchair-accessible Sand Point Nature Trail along the shore (.3 mile one-way, with educational signs and benches). The scenery with the boulders along the edge of the lake is beautiful, but the beach areas were very crowded with families arriving with carts loaded with coolers, shade canopies, and flotation rafts. Bathers were climbing on and jumping off the larger rocks. I went into the shop at the visitor center to look for a t-shirt, but most of the merchandise was beach gear like towels, sunglasses, and water bottles. It was too crowded for us at Sand Harbor so we only stayed there an hour or so.
We continued our scenic drive south on NV28 and US50 to South Lake Tahoe, then took Emerald Bay Road (CA89) west to Taylor Creek Visitor Center near Camp Richardson. This site is open in the summers and doesn't charge a fee. The visitor center has exhibits about the area, an information desk, restrooms, and a shop with books and souvenirs. Educational programs are held outside at an amphitheater. There are four short nature trails in this area, which makes it attractive for families with young children. We hiked the wheelchair-accessible Rainbow Trail, which is a .5-mile loop through Taylor Marsh, and enjoyed views of Mt. Tallac and Taylor Creek. A ranger told us that the Lake of the Sky Trail that leads 3/8 mile to the shore of Lake Tahoe is suitable for wheelchairs, but it was not. There was a substantial grade and the surface was eroded with gullies and large, loose stones.
When we were finished at Taylor Creek we returned to South Lake Tahoe and ate lunch. This area was very congested and traffic was frustrating. As a whole, we were disappointed with how developed the area is around Lake Tahoe. We preferred Crater Lake in Oregon where the views and terrain are similar, but without all the commercialism. We left Tahoe in the afternoon, taking the Kingsbury Grade (NV207) east back into Carson Valley. It's a curvy mountain road with steep grades and drop-offs, but the views are amazing.

Excellent place to visit in March with perfect weather. Not very cold but still enjoyed snow. The Airbnb was too good. We had booked a three bed place which had all the necessary facility and more. Very comfortable, in fact luxurious place.

My husband and I went to Reno for a week (December 2016) to celebrate our anniversary and took a day trip to Lake Tahoe.
The views from every angle are GORGEOUS ... mountains and trees everywhere and snow capped mountains in December.
I would not have missed it for the world.

A wonderful and extraordinary place to relax and enjoy the view. The lake was so clear and refreshing. Nothing like it to compare to and the fresh air water makes you forget there was any pollution in the world. Having appreciation that there is still a place so pure and clean gives you hope there is a gem to preserve and possible for all waterways and parks to be the same.

My husband and I went to Lake Tahoe to see an Eagles concert but were also very excited about seeing this much talked about region of our country. We were not disappointed in either the Eagles concert or the beauty of the area. The pines are straight and tall, the air so clean and clear and perfumed with the scent of these beautiful fir trees. At one point, after we had climbed to the top of an "easy" ski trail, we were pausing to catch our breath, no small feat at 10.000 feet, when I was suddenly struck with the utter silence, broken only by the sound of the wind through the pines. No other people, cars, trucks, urban chatter, just silence, sweet, sweet silence. You could feel stress draining out of your body. The views were a "see it to believe it" thing. The pace is slow, you can take life on your own terms. How often does that happen. Go here.

The 72 mile drive is worth the 3 hour drive.
South shore is the least scenic but offers close up views of the cool green shades of water.North and the West shores offer scenic views with rock formations and the different shades of water colors.
Do the drive and take in all the beauty!!!

We went to South Lake Tahoe from Sacramento area with family and relatives. We spent about 4 hours doing boating on this huge lake. This was my first power-boating experience in USA. Enjoyed it thoroughly. I have been to Lake Tahoe area before in 2011 and we did Jet-Ski that time.

One of the first places I’ve been to since I got here in the US. I got engaged here and decided to elope here too. I’m very blessed to be living 2hrs away from a paradise like this.
FUN FACT:
The water in Lake Tahoe is 99.994% pure, making it one of the purest large lakes in the world. For comparison, commercially distilled water is 99.998% pure. Tahoe contains roughly 60 parts per million of dissolved matter.

It was snowing when we visited and so the beach was snow-covered and the lake almost frozen. Simply beautiful to see.

My husband and I visited Lake Tahoe in September during the Labor Day week. We stayed in Stateline, NV, and walked across the street to Lake Tahoe, CA. This area is one of the most beautiful I have seen in my travels out West. The lake reminds me of the Caribbean with its crystal clear blue water. Add the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background, and you have a picture perfect postcard. I would love to visit again. This would be an excellent place to take a family hiking, boating, and skiing. This is one town that I felt safe walking around by myself shopping and sightseeing. I am sure the winters are spectacular with the snow on the mountains.

The late Spring is an awesome time to visit Lake Tahoe (CA side). The snow was still on the mountains, the steams were rushing with snow melt and the air was crisp.

I'll sit there by the lake and waiting for sunset .The mountains were awesome, gorgeous trip on middle May, still can enjoy the cool weather at Lake Tahoe with peaceful and beautiful water

I have been to many countries all over the world, and i can still say that the most beautiful place in the world is at the summit of Heavenly Valley out looking over the Lake Tahoe. Absolutely breathtaking..

Lake Tahoe is a nice place but we went in May. It was still winter up there but without the snow. The gondolas were not working and the water was not clear. It was great because we need a couple of calm days.
We guess that it is very different at the hight of the winter or the summer.

I love tahoe so much! If you haven't been before, definitely make a trip there. So much to do, and plenty of shops and restaurants.

We went to Lake Tahoe for our fiftieth wedding anniversary a couple of years ago. Beautiful clear lake and water. Went to a few casinos, there are some beautiful drives in this area, lots of good restaurants too.

wonderful places..we enjoyed our vacation this summer and many places to see, swim, kayak, photography..AHH just love it...

A sister's get-together from 2 other parts of the country brought us to beautiful Lake Tahoe. From the statuesque redwoods to the snow-capped mountains, this part of the country is among the most stunning I have ever seen. As active seniors we kayaked, hiked Angel Falls and completed 2 courses of Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park where we zip-lined and completed obstacle courses 50 feet above the ground! Route 89 which meanders completely around Lake Tahoe is not for the faint of heart with its narrow switchbacks that lack guard rails but contains such breath-taking vistas that its almost worth risking your life for the adventure! Emerald Bay is the highlight of the southern shore and along the north shore you can visit Squaw Valley, the site of the 1960 Olympic winter games and bike trails that hug the shore. In the evening we were able to lose our money at the casinos and still completely enjoy the experience due to the fun atmosphere and friendly staff members. This was an ideal time of the year for us to visit as we are not skiers but unfortunately the Gondola to Heavenly was closed as well as a few other attractions until the winter season starts in mid-November. if I knew how much fun this area was as well as how beautiful, I would have visited long ago!

One of the must-see places if you are within reaching distance. Activities for both summer and winter. If you are visiting in late summer or fall, you might be a little disappointed. Has activities for all age groups.
Visit the Emerald bay, take a cruise or get involved in some water-sports, parasailing or jet-skiing, if you are hydrophobic, take a hike, or ride a bicycle around. Or just lounge on one of the many beaches around the lake. If visiting in fall, take the scenic route 89. Overall, all age groups would enjoy this trip. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in reach of it.

The lake is very pretty, specially in summer, beach is big enough! You can rent kayaks, boats and jet ski! The main road has everything, restaurants, shopping stores, bars,

We went there with kids and they enjoyed the place. Unfortunately, we didn’t stay too long because it was about to get dark when we arrived there. The lake was freezing cold and there was ice all around it. The view of the lake with the mountains around was just spectacular.

I visited Lake Tahoe, California a year ago and loved it. The water on the lake is very clear and the mountains around are amazing. I went with my family and we spent time walking, swimming and relaxing. We also kayaked and saw a lovely sunset. I highly recommend this place if you like nature and want to rest.

We live nearby and whether it's a family outing or a group of hikers etc., this area has so much to offer alongside beautiful scenery. Every season is full of great things you can do. Since winter is coming up, try snowshoe tours or skiing...summers are popular with picnics, mountain biking and hiking and of course soaking up the sun!

We visited Lake Tahoe in October. The aspen were still very beautiful! The first view of Lake Tahoe is always beautiful and inspiring. It is great to now that some places place great value on maintaining a clean peaceful slice of Mother Nature. We didn't do the entire trip around this time but we covered quite a bit of it. As far as beauty goes, it is one of the top places in the US! It was also great that it snowed just after we left Lake Tahoe but we could still see the snow topped mountings from Gardnerville, Carson City and Reno NV where we spent an additional time.
We stayed for Nevada Day in Carson City. We meet the NV governor among other things. You should look up Nevada Day to see if you are interested.

A complex and not necessarily higly subtle high elevation water repository. Mostly in California, but the best is the leat accessible northern part and the steep falaise side flanks. The southern "Las Vegas" terroir type is absolutely unbearable. Othersise is am uphill-downhill dramatic scemery that allows for much.It is at a 2.000 m. elevation with depth and fish richness and a Norwegian textur and habitat. Fortunately it has not been entirely given to development. Hotels and restaurants when less studded the better occupying the northwest. Few lakes offer such contrasting views. Remarkable area wise,,...................................................................................................................................

Take the drive around the lake slowly & soak in all the majesty of this most beautiful place. Plenty of places along the way to stop & enjoy.

We visited in early december, which is the start of winter. The snow was not that thick yet, but it was enough for us to spend two days skiing at two separate resorts. The area has a good mix of outdoor activities plus urban entertainment like shopping and casinos (for those who want). We also took a nice drive round the lake. Emerald Bay is beautiful. However, some stretches of the roads are narrow with no barriers on the side so drivers need to be careful.

Beautiful weather .. great biking.. hiking ..
The water is gorgeous...boating..was here last year during the leaves changing .. just breathtaking .. snow .. wonderful.. we come up 3 or 4 times a year ..

We spent 2 1/2 days in heavenly South Lake Tahoe. The peaceful area is a big change from the busy lives we all have. The city has many wonderful top notched restaurants to enjoy-whether for breakfast, lunch or supper. The road up to South Lake Tahoe is steep and about 1/2 hour from civilization, but you see beauty on each side of the road on your trip up the 7100 + foot mountain!

We visited Lake Tahoe after visiting Montana (The Big Sky.) We thought there could be no more beautiful place than Montana in summer but we were wrong! Lake Tahoe is truly awesome. Perfect scenery and many places to stop - sight see - or have a great meal.

We stayed here for 2 nights and wished we had stayed for more. There are great hikes, but when we went the end of April some park entrances were closed because of the snow.

I’m a middle class guy, I work long hours and love my job. At the same time I can afford whatever I like, I’m grateful and blessed and I’m not even religious! But wow! Lake Tahoe is ONLY for the Wealthy, it’s so sad that a place of beauty is out of reach for community members like myself. It’s a disappointing 1 star review.

As a destination, Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, any traveler will find something to do. If on vacation - the sky is the limit. On a business trip - a quick bike ride, run or a quick run down a ski mountain is doable. It is so easy to get around, completely beautiful, easy to fly into, and both relaxing and exciting.

Large expanse of water streching between California and Nevada. The water looks bluer than the blue lakes I have seen. Head early if you're planning for a picnic in one of the beaches because parking gets crazy.

We went because we had not been there for over 30 years. I chose to drive completely around the lake for sightseeing. Despite heavy construction delays there were numerous beautiful scenic stops along the way. Just go clockwise to stay in the lane closest to the water.

Liked the west shore, as it is more Old Tahoe, but w great amenities and no casinos. We stayed at Sunnyside Lodge in Tahoe City during "shoulder season", great rates, room w view right onto lake. They had a very nice in house restaurant. Drive down to Emerald Bay, breathtaking views.

Endless Amazing Views! Another destination off my "bucket list" that's worth returning in the Winter and perhaps every year. Lake Tahoe was everything I imagined and more. It's just a great spot for Outdoor Sports enthusiasts. The area is also a 4 Seasons destination that has multiple Golf courses, endless bicycle trails and all type of equipment rentals. It also offers boating, kayaking, hiking, photography, walking and running trails, fishing, sight seeing, restaurants and very interesting communities surrounding the lake. There are Old Gold Mining Towns too. But the bests are the beautiful trees surrounding the lake and creating peaceful surroundings filled with flowers, meadows, river streams and the fresh smell of wilderness. Everywhere you look there is beauty.
You'll NEED a camera, walking shoes, **Sunglasses** because it can get very bright on a sunny day and sunlight reflects on the water as if it were a mirror. Brutal after a couple of hours. ** Don't forget to bring a Jacket or dress in layers because it can get cool with crisp morning air and chilly wind at night in the fall. Also try to go on a weekday or stay in the area a few days. This can be a full day visit or a full week visit depending on your level of activity or inactivity. Both are just fine. You can practice outdoor sports or relax enjoying nature. We did notice that on the weekend, the area was completely saturated with people and driving back down the Sierra Nevada on a Sunday is NO FUN even though we headed home early in the morning. Re: Gratuity in the area? Be aware some State Park Recreation Areas require a fee but tickets are for sale with the attendants.
We stayed 3 days (Thur - Sun) in South Lake Tahoe next to the Nevada border. There was plenty of restaurants to choose from, shopping and night life in the area. There is also a Gondola that takes you to the top of the Mountain for spectacular views. We decided to drive around Lake Tahoe to explore the National Parks, visit the surrounding towns and try out restaurants. We also wanted to take spectacular photos. As you drive around the lake at one point you will enter the Lake Tahoe National Park, interestingly, both California and Nevada have designated National State Park areas on their respective sides. You'll notice if you choose to drive all around the lake. We drove 3 times around (once ea. day) and found new splendid views each time since both sides of the lake look different. Both sides have clearly marked Landmarks where you can stop to explore. Some areas within the National Park Service will require a fee. There are several beautiful beaches around the area some in secluded areas of the lake.
The California side is going thru major restoration and much of the improvements give the area a European feel. Be aware of periodic delays due to construction crews making the roads safer. It's very obvious a few towns in the area were established by Swedish immigrants. There are many buildings and decorations reminiscent of the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden or Switzerland. If you like architecture, you'll appreciate the many different styles. But the Nordic influence is quite charming. I loved the Chalets and Wooden Cabins through the different little towns. At times you just feel as if you're in a different country all together.
The Nevada side has much better and wider roads and has a very different feel but it's just as spectacular. You'll find Casinos on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. You will also see some spectacular Real Estate and many mansions built alongside the entire Lake Tahoe area but we thought the bigger and nicer Mansions were in Nevada's side.
Lake Tahoe is just another one of God's Master Pieces! Hope I didn't forget anything. You probably can tell I LOVED IT. Enjoy!

Skip the high prices and go for the Lodge at Lake Tahoe - especially good for those who like a bit of space in their hotel room AND the option of a kitchenette and tidy swimming pool. Close to all that's needed for a good visit.
Nature - check to see if there's nature walk at any of the many parks around Tahoe - we strolled in the twilight with guidance from rangers...for free!
History - Tallac Historic Site - beautiful setting of estate home - peek into the "Downtown Abbey" like setting of maids, butlers, gardeners and their employers on spacious grounds...for free! Got there before the house opened and loved hanging around on the dock while kids played in water. Gave everyone a place to stroll on their own - a little space to breathe and stroll.
Boat Ride - skip the crowd on the big boats - only about 15 people on the sunset cruise of the Safari Rose with tasty treats, ample wine and cocktails, and good length of time 2.5 hours. Choose to hear narration or just enjoy the view from inside a comfy cabin or up top in the air.

The scenic views are the best I've ever seen,, this place needs to be on everyone's bucket list of places to visit.

My wife and I visited for about 5 days in the middle of March. Still a bunch of snow on the ground, but weather was excellent and we had a blast exploring around the lake and the surrounding areas.

Lake Tahoe is breathtaking beauty, plain and simple. The air here is some of the best smelling in the West also. I just love visiting the area.

Lake Tahoe is indeed one place everyone should try and go to. It is very majestic and beautiful scenery. Our highlight of this trip was that we got to see a couple bears enjoying themselves in the creek eating salmon. There were other people around, so I wasn't too scared.
Everyone that goes to Lake Tahoe should take a ride on the Paddle Wheel Boat. Very entertaining and reasonable priced.
We were not there to ski, but just to enjoy the beauty of nature. Of course there are casinos and we enjoyed that one evening.
We stayed at the South Shore Wyndham Condos. They were excellent. Nice warm hot tubs, fireplace and "heated" pool.

Put Lake Tahoe on your bucket list. The ride through the mountains can be a little daunting but the Lake is well worth it. It has attractions for all ages and the Lake itself is fantastic. Do yourself a favorite and take the tour boat ride

Most beautiful lake have ever seen. We went to Lake Tahoe for a week it is gorgeous lots of areas still had snow so we sled and took the dogs for a run the lake is gorgeous took the dogs to Meeks Bay and let them swim will definitely go back very soon

So beautiful! The water is the bluest fresh water I have ever seen. The mountains as a backdrop is beyond words. The people are friendly and the surrounding towns are quaint and comfortable. Great family vacation spot!

Beautiful majestic views of peace and serenity. Who says there is not GOD? Great drive around the lake with no problems.

Lake Tahoe is an excellent choice to take a short break with family and friends! It has great entertainment options including great choice of cuisine, adventure sports etc

Okay, it’s beautiful. But don’t go here. Seriously. I’m only giving it 2 out of 5 for the scenery. We will never come back. Traffic was an all-out nightmare (this is from me, who lived in the DC area for 25 years). The crowds were smothering. It’s outrageously expensive. Do yourself a favor and avoid Tahoe unless you can come during one of the handful of “off-season” weeks. Not worth the stress and headaches.

Extremely beautiful lake amongst the hills. Pristine water.
Finding parking is a difficult task if one reaches during afternoon. The shutterbug will get tired while capturing the beauty of this place.
You will fall in love with the place if you enjoy the company of mother nature.
Visited in June, 2014.

Beautiful lake and area. Too much smoke in the air this trip to see the whole lake. Still a fun place to come to.

My latest visit at Lake Tahoe was the 3rd for me . The two visits were just a stay mostly in the Hotel as I had to travel with "tire chain" . The lake was very much appreciated then, at the hotel balcony with very few short walk to Restaurants. However this October 2019 the visit to Lake Tahoe were more enjoyable having based at Sparks , Reno's "Thunderbird Hotel" . We visited some Tourists Spots like the "Emerald Bay" and the site of the Olympic and places around the Lake and took several photos . We left Lake Tahoe area after having lunch at the "Riva Grill". Again , this trip to Lake Tahoe with good weather make another vacation day pleasant and enjoyable.,

We first went to Lake South Tahoe - very commercial. Difficult to park. Entrance to beach was $8/- per person. Then we went to north end, the California side. Free beach access, and honestly prettier. Found parking spot. Did parasailing. Kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming. A lot of locals as they had brought in their BBQ grills. Beach was clean. From parasailing height, water was also blue and very clear. Fun place.

You can't appreciate Lake Tahoe until you have seen it in four seasons. Incredible is a good word. Camping, fishing, boating, skiing, grilling and hiking are but a few of the activities available.

Visited Lake Tahoe with my other half and family. This place is simply stunning.
We stayed in our RV in Sugar Pine RV camping. The campsite itself was okay. There are plenty of hotels, motels and places to stay. The people of Lake Tahoe are friendly and always happy to help! Obviously out of season when we arrived as barely anyone around. Lake Tahoe City itself is idyllic and there are lovely restaurants and you are able to go out on the lake either by boats, kayaks or jet ski. There was plenty of shops and supermarkets. I would defiantly go back to this place as it opens for ski season as well as being a perfect place for summer vacation. You can access Emerald bay on the other side. This is a little bit of heaven As you can see from my pictures.

Lake Tahoe is the perfect vacation destination anytime of year. In addition to the magnificent scenery, there is so much to do; hiking, biking, boating, fishing, golfing, skiing, river rafting, etc. A good place to start exploring Lake Tahoe is with a drive around the lake. During the weekdays with light traffic and no construction, this will take you about three hours, but with all the stops you'll want to make, this can be a whole day trip. As you drive around the lake you'll notice that the California side of the lake has much less development and more access to the lake shore. We find that we spend more time on the California side for this reason alone.

My wife and I drove around Lake Tahoe on Monday. It is a wonderful drive. We stopped and took a lot of pictures.
The most beautiful place is Emerald Bay area. The sky was blue, the lake was clear and the air was clean. Fannette Island is a favorite spot for picture taking. There was a Scandinavian style castle built on the island it the late 1920's. Nevada side has casino to go to. Lots of great places to camp, hike, watersports, and much more!!!

It was freezing cold when we drove to Lake Tahoe! There is an activity snow slope which is before the main lake tahoe! We did some snow-tubing there which was certainly fun! Didn't indulge in much of the activities at Lake Tahoe, just had our lunch at one of the may be ONLY indian restaurant at that place, which was pretty sad in its ambience as well taste of food! Nonetheless, the views were pretty breathtaking and our picture by the lake is possibly one of the best from the trip:)

Lake Tahoe is mesmerizingly beautiful. It is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California.
The Emerald Bay State Park is must visit and don't miss the 1929 Nordic-style mansion Vikingsholm.
There is a long-distance Tahoe Rim Trail. It’s known for its awesome beaches and resorts.

Amazing scenery. From the mountains the lake looks incredible. However, the skiing is limited in Sierra at Tahoe.

During our road trip we decided to stop by Lake Tahoe.
We did not know this place but by random I saw a picture of the lake and we chose to rent an apartment with a direct access to the lake.
We had a brilliant idea we even called Kim to extend our stay.
This place is so peaceful and relaxing that you have the feeling to be in a precious world. You will be happy to face wild life.

Lake Tahoe is a superb vacation spot. Drive over route 80 from SF or just a couple hours from Reno. There are the regular tourist shops and eateries, but there is also much more. I recommend renting a bike if you didn't bring one and cruising around through So Lake Tahoe or on the Northern area of Lake Tahoe.
We took a day to drive around the lake- loved the views! Went to Squaw Valley and had lunch there and came back around the lake taking turn outs to take in the sights.
The towns around here seem pretty dog friendly and So Lake Tahoe's Heavenly Village is great for strolling, eating, shopping, photo ops etc for the whole family. So many unique shops! If you stay in this area, take the short walk to Ralley's Grocery to stock up on great salads and fresh food items so you don't have to eat out as often! We spent about $32 on groceries and have deli fresh meatloaf, 4 different deli salads, rolls and slices of specialty meats and cheeses to enjoy with our wine. We can eat off that for at least 3 meals instead of the $32 we would have paid for lunch for two at a restaurant!

Went with my wife, daughter, her husband and their 2 1/2 year old son for a weekend from 5 Sep to 7 Sep. Stayed in a beach resort called Franciscan Lakeside Lodge. The lodge was decent, with well equipped kitchen that allowed us to make our own breakfast.
Due to our visit during the first week of Sep, with schools opened, there was hardly any rush, with all the water attractions easily available. The attraction we liked the most was Parasailing which we did with Lake Tahoe Parasailing. In our boat, we were the only visitors, and the crew told us that they were winding it up for the season as the season had closed - which was a shame as the weather was excellent.
The resort also offers other water sports as well.

Surrounded by a mountain range this lake has it all - crystal clear water, amazing views from above and excellent hikes to get to the top of some peaks. my only regret is that we only stayed one night here.

We rode the entire shore line on our Harley and it was beautiful. They have so many overlooks. It should be on your bucket lit.

Been coming to Lake Tahoe for decades.... It is such a great place..
About 4 hours or so from San Francisco. 2 hours from Sacramento.
Tahoe has so much to offer... The lake, boating, swimming, hiking, biking.
There are so many restaurants and breweries.
It's perfect for people of all ages. Summer is great and the winter is even better if you like to ski.
We will be back for sure.

My family rented a house right on the lake. Tahoe was so magical. My son got to experience snow for the first time. And I never knew trees could look so pretty. It was a Christmas to remember. And thankfully it was too much snow so we were able to get around no problem.

While we were waiting in line to get in, my in laws were trying to find a bathroom (I was driving) when the park ranger yelled “get the f&@k back in your car!” They don’t speak English. Right when it got to us he said parking was full. We asked to speak to the park ranger. His name was B Hently. The answer then changed and he said we couldn’t get in because we didn’t have a kayak. But some cars ahead of us went in without one. We pressed it further, but he said “mind your own business”. Then when my family tried to call authorities, they gave the ranger my wife’s number and he called her and tauntingly asked “miss, are you just sour because we didn’t let you into the park?”
At this point I’m really trying to seek some justice here. I’ve tried reaching out to their social media but no answer. It felt like my family was intentionally singled out and mocked, and they were not allowed to follow through with their plans that they’ve been looking forward to all year. They’re incredibly distraught by this whole ordeal.

This is one of the most scenic places on earth!
*Words can not accurately describe the natural beauty of the area.
* Tahoe is a small town with so much character, from the quaint restaurants and shops to all the outdoor activities; paddle boat tours, beachside picnics, hikes, and skiing.
* love this place

Wow... crystal clear water. Cleanest smelling air ever! Amazing views. Make sure to enjoy the day here. Plenty to do and see.

We visited South Lake Tahoe and it was incredible. It was fairly quiet when we went on a Saturday and would definitely recommend because the views and the lake are amazing!

South Lake Tahoe has all the things you would want for a nice and relaxing getaway. Beautiful lake, gorgeous Mountain View, great hiking tails, skiing, shopping and gambling! Love this place!

It's more like a sea! We had been for few hours! But found not enough. One must stay at least for a night! Beauty of the place is amazing. Very clean transparent water. Families were enjoying it like a sea beach!

Beautiful lake very nice area a lot of restaurants close to state line for gambling. no dislikes. A great drive around the entire lake 72 miles

We were staying in Reno for a couple of nights this summer and Lake Tahoe is only an hour's drive away (lovely scenic drive up and over the mountains) so we decided to spend a morning there. It's $12 to get in for non Nevada residents and $10 for locals (in sure it's the same on the California side). There is a small beach to chill out on, but I'd recommend getting there early (we arrived 8:30) as the car park and beaches fill up and they stop entry.
We hired a jet ski which is a great way to see the lake including the famous CalNeva lodge.
Would definitely go again.

Small town. Beautiful, romantic. Lots of restaurant choices. Beautiful view of the snowy hills. Many ski resorts. Very nice residents. Excellent markets with very helpful staff. Well worth a visit.

It is a beautiful lake in a beautiful setting, but you are unlikely to see much of it. You will spend most of your time stuck in traffic and searching for a parking space. If you do, by some lucky break, find a parking place, there won’t be any space on the beach unless you arrive around 6 am. Good luck.

Lake Tahoe is a beautiful alpine lake and the scenic views and sunsets are spectacular. Lots of water sports, swimming and boating on the lake, but the water is chilly. Unfortunately, the present drought has changed the lake as another reviewer already noted. The water level is very low and you need to walk out far and you'll still be standing. It is still a majestic sight!

We had the benefit of being with local friends. However, my tip is map out your trail going to and back as well. Have a hard copy map as well as your gps. Bring enough food n drink for your hike. Kids get especially hungry out in the open. Trails take longer than they always do as the scenes r so beautiful you don't wanna miss capturing them. So keep that in mind while packing food n drinks. Bring swimmers n also something warm for after as it will get cold. Kids were shivering after frolicking in the water. As for the beach spots, u gotta be early for a spot for your car, if not u will end up walking quite a fair distance with your stuff to the beach. N don't forget yer sunscreen!!

Loved the drive from Reno as a day trip. We drove all along the lake for a bit, stopped in The town for coffee and then continued. Such a beautiful area and worth making the effort to go visit.

Beautiful Lake town -Our hotel was superb and the setting was lovely. Lots of various activities available for everyone. A little on the expensive side- restaurants and ski- lift. Overall a wonderful and memorable experience.

I live here and love it! Happy to call this area home. So much to see and do but also important to just slow down and soak it all in. From summer to winter this is an amazing place to visit young or old. Snow ski the amazing resorts in winter or water ski Tahoe in the summer. I prefer the West and North shores, but there are a lot opinions on this topic. Enjoy the place my family calls home!

First came to Lake Tahoe as a Cub Scout in 1964; swore, all my life, I'd live there some day. Now I do, and have for 26 years, and still, every time a vacation elsewhere ends, like the beautiful Palm Springs I'm at right now, and I "have to go home", to Lake Tahoe, I say: OMG, am I lucky, can't wait to get home!".

The drought has seriously affected the allure of going to lake Tahoe in the summer time. The water level was so low that the "beach" area close to the water is muddy/nasty and you have to walk out like a mile to get to waste deep water. Its not the bustling summer environment it once was.

Below review from my 6 year old daughter - enjoy!!
First you have to remember it is a 6 hour drive so remember to take breaks. Once you get there don’t forget to go to visit Vikingsholm trail. Also don’t forget to do kayaking in El Dorado beach for 1 to 8 hours. There is also a biking trail next to Holiday Inn Express. Warning there is a slope. So don’t forget to rent a bike which has hand brakes from rental shop. It is nearby Holiday Inn Express. Also it is a 6 hour drive back from Holiday Inn Express. Thank you 😊

It was really a great experience visiting the lake. I was on break with couple of my friends and we had a great time. Views were fantastic and forecast was pretty awesome.

Lake Tahoe is indeed a must see place. Many fantastic places to visit and views to take your breath away. No matter its snowing or not, the place is beautiful any time, any season.

Lake tahoe is very calm and peaceful place with lovely scenic views arounds. A nice weekend getaway!

We visited Lake Tahoe in the last week of December. It was a pretty cold day. The drive from Reno was pretty scenic. And the view of lake Tahoe was stunning. We found time to spend some time on the beach front. The view of the lake was spectacular. But for better weather we would have ended up spending more time. Worth a visit.

Lake Tahoe has too many hiking trails to count. So many lead to lakes or high vistas that each has it's own charm and challenges. Beautiful area to visit whether hiking or not!

Whenever someone told me of a recent visit to Lake Tahoe, descriptive words such as incredible, beautiful, paradise and peaceful were generally followed with the imperative statement; "You must see Lake Tahoe!" As an East Coast resident, this was not a trip around the corner, but boy am I glad I made the effort to come here. From the scenic drive around the lake to the numerous parks and inlets to explore to the exceedingly clear waters (although from what I have read, as clear as the water is today, it was much clearer 50 years ago thanks to overbuilding along the lake), I never uncovered a spot that was not simply 'beautiful.' Yes, Lake Tahoe is a massive body of water (unlike New York State's famous Lake George which contains numerous off-shoots, channels, tributaries, islands and canyons), but the fact that it is so large, adds to its beauty - coupled with the fact that snow-capped mountains form such a dramatic backdrop to a lake that never freezes. I hope I will return someday to Lake Tahoe...and when I do, I hope that I am not disappointed with the water clarity or the seemingly overdeveloped nature of the area taking away from its wild state.

Take the Gondola Ride!
Kids and adults enjoyed.
Views are lovely. Trails up there too if one is adventurous and has the energy.

It's a cozy and funny place to visit. If you like skiing I highly recommend, there are great hills. They have good restaurants and hotels too. Its a good place to stay a weekend!

I've been coming to Lake Tahoe for over 50 years. Overall we prefer the Fall when the weather is still warm, fewer vacationers and great hiking. We prefer the North and West shores. For hidden beaches we like the Northeast shore from Sand Harbor south.

A beautiful lake with clear water and beach. Lake is 22 miles in lenght and 12 miles long. Don't miss the sunset. We could not see t due to clouds

Finally, we visited Lake Tahoe, the largest lake in North America. The sheer size of the lake truly amazed us; it was immense and incredibly beautiful.
Driving around Lake Tahoe took us hours to complete the trip. Every viewpoint around the lake was worth stopping at to enjoy the mesmerizing blue color of the lake. Though we wished to stop at each one, it would have consumed an entire day. Therefore, we decided to halt at Emerald Bay, a river bend resembling a circular bay with a small island at its center. This spot stood out among the other viewpoints for its remarkable beauty.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, as it offered one of the most breathtaking views we've ever experienced in the United States.
We highly recommend visiting Lake Tahoe if you're in California. However, be sure to set aside a full day, as the lake is truly vast and every minute spent there is worth it.

Went with my wife who attends trading program. I was lucky to rent a car and drive around the lake. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton on the northern shore. This is also a ski destination. Snowi g when we got to hotel and snow on mountains. So bring warm clothes in early June. We went to south lake Tahoe, Nevada due had casinos nd California side shops hotels and ski area. Just beautiful area, the drive around the lake s worth it with waterfall and scenic views. Wish we had more time o explore.

The sand at Lake Tahoe isn't the fluffy white sand at other beaches, but it's nice. The view of the snowy mountains is beautiful and makes up for that. It was somewhat busy, but there is plenty of space for it not to feel crowded.

It was a really beautiful place and really worth visiting. Saw almost all of its periphery right from north to east to southern tip, each area is unique in its own way. The waters are different shades of blue, reminded me of Pangong Lake at Leh.

Beautiful place to visit. There’s so much to do. We only spent 2 days there. Went to several overlooks, beaches, ski resorts and hotels with casinos on the stateline.
One of the MOST Beautiful Places I have Ever Been
We had a chance to stay at a friends condo here in June and all i can say is WOW. The entire Lake Tahoe area is STUNNING!! I was truly blown away. From the spectacular views of the lake, to the quaint shops and restaurants, it was one of the most relaxing weeks of my life. Only about an hour drive from Reno too so it was fairly easy access. We ended up driving around the entire lake, which takes a few hours. It DID end up taking me over the scariest small stretch of road I have ever driven on. It's a tiny stretch between South Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay, JUST before Emerald Bay, where BOTH sides of the road drop off at a 45 degree angle with no guard rails on either side!! I think I was going 5 mph in a 10 mph zone and was still sweating. It's barely 1/3 of a mile stretch. You can skip going around the whole lake if that type of thing is not for you.
