This place is very pretty and easy to get around. There could be some more signs pointing to trail heads and such but I guess for the most part you will do well. I went a little to early in the year. I would recommend mid June on.

Everything was so beautiful and natural. With views of the mountains that the lake and all of the trees. Lots of great areas to relax and.

Unbelievable views and scenery. Go slow and check out all the trails. Look for small areas to take in views.

I stopped at Memorial Point part of Lake Tahoe-Nevada State Park near Sand Harbor next to State Route 28 without entering the State Park itself in July. After parking (free for a limited time) I got to enjoy a beautiful walk on the paved Sand Harbor trail. This is one of the most beautiful waterfront trails with little nooks leading to the lake waters and smooth boulders along the shore. The path winds through a beautiful forested area. The State Park has many more opportunities for recreation including the wonderful beach at Sand Harbor and a variety of other trails. I highly recommend this stop on the drive around Lake Tahoe.

This is a beautiful area right off the side of a perilous highway. There's limited parking but if you can find a spot, hike down to the boulders on the crystal blue water. You can't take a bad photo there.

Our absolute favorite place to put in a kayak. Avoid June-August. The water there is so incredibly beautiful. You can get in the water in the Fall.

Lake Tahoe- anywhere on Lake Tahoe- is incredibly beautiful. It's so serene and clear and breathtaking. The park was well-kept, easy access, free parking- top notch! definitely recommend.

We spent the day there ( get there early morning for parking)
Had a beer and snack at the Cafe, Kayaked to enjoy that view, sat on the rocks sunbathing, watched the youth jump off the many boulders in the lake, and watched families enjoy beach time.
Absolutely beautiful and fun.
Enjoy!!

This Park has a beautiful view, and a walkway that goes around the waterfront giving a lot of information about the Lake and area along the way...Good way to kill a couple hours. The Beach area was full although we didn't go to it, we just wanted to kill some time and walk around.

Most of the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe is part of Lake Tahoe – Nevada State Park system. The state park is a fee entrance state park, and purchase of a day pass will provide access to the three main areas. The three main areas are Cave Rock, Spooner Lake, and Sand Harbor. Cave Rock and Sand Harbor are on the lake side of Hwy 28, and Spooner Lake is on the land side of Hwy 28.

Cave Rock is located just outside the south side of Cave Rock tunnels and offers a boat launch and fishing. You can purchase a 15-minute photo pass here if you just want to stop long enough to take pictures and use the restroom. I think the photo pass is only good for use at Cave Rock.

Sand Harbor is one of the most popular areas around the lake during the summer and sometimes the parking lots will fill up. Sand Harbor has a nice sandy beach and restrooms, picnic tables and a snack stand grill open in the summer between Memorial Day and Labor Day. There is a boat launch at Sand Harbor, and boat, kayak and other water sports rentals during the summer.

Spooner Lake offers an easy 2.1 mile hike around small Spooner Lake, through pines, a meadow, and Aspen Groves. There are benches along the trail if you want to stop and take in the view. Bikes are not permitted on this trail although I have encountered a stray rider. The Aspens are very pretty and photogenic and the trail leads through a grove so you can see them close up. Wildflowers grow randomly along the trail. A mix of sun and shade make this a very nice hike to do in summer and fall. Dogs on Leash are allowed.
The parking area has restrooms, water fountain, and picnic tables in the pines which provide shade.
Fishing is available in Spooner Lake, including ice fishing in the winter.
Spooner Lake also has a trail head to Marlette Lake and the Flume trail for backcountry hiking or mountain bike riding, with trail connections to the Tahoe Rim Trail.
Concessions offer bike rentals and bike tours. In winter they offer cross-country skiing, including lessons. They also have a small snack stand.
Spooner Lake also has a few primitive cabin rentals that have to be hiked to.

Even though we went in early June, the weather is nice without being very hot, but the water was pretty cold, so it was a bit difficult to get into swimming.
Everything around the lake there are beaches where you can hang out comfortably or go swimming. Also on all sides there are very good views of both the lake and the snowy mountains in the surrounding area.

I have spent most of my life living in the lake tahoe/reno area. i used to lifeguard at the beaches in incline village back in the early 1970's. to this day i have not gotten tired of the view from these beaches. living in this area with all that lake tahoe has to offer makes it hard to go on vacation and leave!

We took our Service Dogs to Nevada Beach today, although the actual beach was closed for the season, the forest area with trails was not. This is a pristine forest with a paved trail with beautiful meadows, a wet lands area, trailing through the forest that impresses with its beauty and a feel of being far off of the beaten path but isn't. Clean, easy to navigate, a few benches overlooking the large meadow/wet lands area framed by beautiful pine forest...humbling and breath taking experience so close by. Parking on the side of the road at trail heads allow for an easy and memorable walk we recommend. There are stations with dog refuse bags and disposal containers available at the beginning of the trails so a great time for the fur family members. Great experience we recommend.

By Jennifer W |

Good thing we visited Sand Harbor and Chimney beach before trying to find this, because despite multiple attempts, google maps led us astray. We gave up after several obviously wrong turns and of course, no signage.

By Heather M |

The water is very cold so be prepared if you're a water wimp like me. I prefer warm water so I did not kayak or try stand up paddle boarding but quite a few hardy souls were out there. The parks are well kept with nice amenities. There is something for the day tripper, camper, casual visitor or picnicker. This time of year, many of the mountains still have a dusting of snow, making for beautiful photographs.

By babobear1 |

If you love camping on the beach, Nevada Beach is perfect. Your campsite can be steps away from the beach nestled in the trees bordering the beach. There is a long lovely beach for day trippers and it is usually not excessively crowded. Many families bring picnics and full blown BBQ set ups for a day of fun in the sun. Check the procedures for securing one of the grills and the rules for use. There are easily accessible restroom buildings in several places. There is an awesome dog beach too. Stay for the sunset over the Sierras! Please just remember to clean up after yourself and be considerate of your fellow beach lovers, so we can all enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe.

By taylorbrock |

We were there in May which is after skiing and before summer crowds...so not all the services were up and running but the hiking was amazing and free!! Gorgeous views of the lake and forest. This end of Lake Tahoe is really much more chill than south lake. Very relaxing and a little more residential-- less glitz. The hiking is very nearby and you can "get away from it all" in a matter of minutes. The higher elevations (Mt. Rose/Tahoe meadows ) still had a fair amount of snow but all the other hikes were do-able

By DonnieB15 |

Had some extra time on my hands so decided to drive up there and check it out the drive is very relaxing once you get there you can drive and or walk around spend the day use the lake have fun

By dhen |

Spooner lake is by far our favorite hike at South Lake Tahoe. Right off Highway 50 on Highway 28 you come to a Nevada State Park called Spooner Lake. It costs $10 to enter. You can also park a little past the Highway 28 turnoff on the north side of 50 to access the lake. The trail from inside the state park is a 2 mile loop. It is spectacular especially in the fall when the trees start to turn color. You get beautiful yellows with some red and orange colors. The loop is a flat and easy hike. There are usually quite a few birds in the lake. The trails are dog friendly. Even though I have done the loop trail many times I always end up taking dozen of pictures. This hike and the hike from Stateline down to Nevada Beach are always my favorite short hikes at Tahoe.

By John H |

Pick a beautiful warm day, arrive early and have a glorious day at the beach. Lake Tahoe is unbeatable and the State Parks can get crowded but they are generally well maintained.

By priscoharley |

There are several gorgeous beaches on Lake Tahoe but the Nevada State Beach has very few
people and blissful scenery of the lake with mountain views . There are no retail establishments
for food and drink . There is a nice path built over the sand to the beach and clean restrooms .
Perfect for the ultimate relaxation.

By TahoeMark |

This is an absolute Must See for any visit to Tahoe. Amazing hiking with various trails both independent of and linking to the Rim Trail. Camping options, beach access, wonder photography vistas.

By Skylance |

We got here in the early afternoon on a hot day, so parking was scarce. Beach access was difficult, but Lake Tahoe is a beautiful site.

By Lisa J |

We had been on another tour and seen this on the GPS, so we decided to stop. It is an amazing place! We decided to go eat and come back to take sunset picture, and they were unbelievably beautiful. The south side has a very large beach and the other side has rocks that the kids love climbing all over. They have a very nice restaurant and it in Nevada so they have a bar also. Nice clean restrooms and plenty of parking. They also have a gift shop and a small museum that tells about the area. A must see on you trip.

By Sushhil Pokharel |

I had a impression that the lake is small but when I saw it I can not define it as a lake. its such a big. Its well maintained. The water is crystal clear and you can see the depth of lake.Wow love it,enjoyed sunbath at the sands

By harshAF |

The lake is the clearest and the cleanest in the world! Need I say more? Take a ferry tour, go to a vista point on the Sierra-Nevada and don't miss the sunset on the Sand Harbor beach. If nature and beauty is your thing, this is a fantastic place!

By Tucson_AZAdventurer |

The Park charges $12.00 per car. There is ample parking until about 10:00 am.
The rest rooms were very clean.
The board walk area is well worth the stroll.
Have lunch at the grill. Bill was about $40.00 for our group of 4.

By Karen C |

Would highly recommend hiking the rim trail out of incline village off hwy 431. At the waterfall, head left to frog pond.

By Kyle M |

Absolutely beautiful area. We just drove through, and stopped at sand harbor (definitely do that too).

When you drive through it really feels like a forest - actually my wife commented how it’s crazy that the residential development starts literally right after you leave the state park. It just feels like what you think of when you think of going to Tahoe.

By Louise M |

This is such a beautiful place! There are several public beaches in the park, but they were extremely crowded with the parking lots completely full when we came in June. The drive through the park is stunning, and there are a few places you can pull over to take pictures and enjoy the vistas.

By Cindy M |

Spent a day and took a drive around Lake Tahoe. The route was an easy drive with tons of pull over sites for photo ops. Found some cute restaurants and shops too. Can't wait to go back in the summer months and do it again!

By brugan226 |

The lakeviews are spectacular, whether the shoreline is snow covered or under summer sunshine. It's a treat to pull off the road and just enjoy watching the lake.

By slaterock1704 |

Sparkling blue water, nice overlooks w/trails. Great lake view perspectives from the north end. A perfect plce for photo ops and
mountain biking.

By stevewaclo |

Hello all!

Mark Twain had it right when he described the incomparable views at Lake Tahoe and living in the valley in Carson City, we have many opportunities to visit.

While I can't add much to all the wonderful things already said, I would strongly encourage all visitors to the eastern shore to make time to walk down to the water's edge. Sand Harbor is one place to enjoy the clear, rocky shores, as well as the beach, but my favorite is the overlook, just south of Incline Village. A short walk down to the water adds so much to the experience and folks who park, snap a few pictures and move on are missing out on the best part of seeing the lake, up close and personal!

Make time to get your feet wet!

By lkis229 |

We spent just a short time here since the weather was not really conducive to relaxing there. I was there to take pictures which turned out terrific. It's a beautiful place and everyone should stop and see it.

By airebornranger |

We could not have asked for a nicer day, to sight see. The lake was like glass, the beach was deserted, and there was no wind. Took some nice pictures as we went around most of the entire lake. The vista points were very crowded, as it was MLK weekend. No snow, but my knee was not up to it anyway. Way too dry with severe fire danger possible now year round.

By Gld2Bgoing |

Anywhere, anyway, for any reason. Have you been?!? WHY NOT?! It's the most magical place in the world! You can't beat the views and the water!

By lildoeandbucko |

The best beach and Boat ramp on the Lake. We have our own special spot on the beach. You have to get there early. Big beach and smaller beaches in sand harbor. East side of tahoe

By Shane P |

See my review of Sand Harbor. This is a beautiful state park with lots to do. One of the best attractions in the area. Get there early, though. It cost $12 a car to get in.

By Millie C |

There are three beautiful white-sand beaches, kayak rentals in the summer, a boat launching area, a protected beach good for children's play, a lovely, long sunning or swimming beach, stunning views of Lake Tahoe, picnic tables, a restaurant in the summer (with ice cream cones!) and horse drawn sleigh rides at times in the winter. A great place for the family to go! The kids love to climb on the lovely granite rocks.

It is especially delightful off-season, without the crowds. It gets very crowded in the summer; there is a bus service from Incline Village when the parking lots are full. You cannot walk in if you can't park in the lots - but you can take the bus! You can walk around the point on a nice boardwalk, and stop at several viewpoints.

There is an admission fee - check the website.

By KRooo |

Loved this park. Would definitely come back. Beautiful beaches, kayaking and paddle boarding, beaches and swimming. A great family place.

By Steve M |

Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side is very beautiful. There is a paved walking trail that runs along the road with 20 minute parking. One spot even had a bathroom. I overheard someone saying this is new. If you plan on going to the Beaches go early. The beaches and parking lots fill up fast and the park will close off the entrance. We drove by one beach around 9:30 and the entrance was closed and the beach was packed.

By Anne G |

We enjoyed our first trip to this beautiful lake! We were pleased to find several free public parking areas. We parked our car and strolled along the lake. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and attractions. We can't wait to go back!

By Ajeya |

We stumbled upon the beach and park, due to a canceled boat trip. This was a wonderful find to hangout and have games and fun in the beach. View of mountains in the backdrop was cool. Time passes by in watching the vehicles travel through the mountain roads.

By LHWabasha |

We spent an afternoon at the park and had a wonderful time. It is on the lake and there is a nice beach. We had reserved the pavilion which made it nice for the meal. The park is very nice and large. Great place to visit. You have to pay to park but there is parking on the road if you are so inclined to walk and not pay, or if the lot is full.

By CityGirlFilmworks |

We took the 72 mile drive around the entire lake, it was so beautiful. The Nevada side was more breathing taking if you enjoy the water, it was so blue and then green around the shore line. The CA side was more forest like so if you enjoy the forest you will enjoy this side. Each has it's own beauty and next time we go out that way we will stay in Lake Tahoe for a few days to enjoy more of what it has to offer.

By Barb |

What an amazing place.. The waters are so blue and crystal , yet freezing cold... Loved to look and watch the boaters ... The sunsets over this lake is the most beautiful thing to see.

By caro v |

Take a minute to stop and look while driving through this park. The whole road (# 28) is a beautiful ride around Lake Tahoe. Take your time and enjoy the view!

By Thomas V |

One of the best parks around the Lake, a place for serene views any time of the year. This may be the best free place to go in the Lake area.

By SamB29 |

Great place to visit, drive-in or take shuttle from Incline Village, boat ramp closed this season, two great beaches w/lifeguards, plenty of restroom/change rooms, snack bar-eating area, picnic tables, well managed, very busy on weekends, nice vista of lake north and south, season passes for NV residents for all NV parks, boat and board rentals available, low water this year so no launching for bigger boats, separate boat and trailer parking-not to be missed

By drmader |

Many beach access areas where you can wander, SUP, picnic, restroom and park. We stopped at one in particular and enjoyed watching the lake ,reflection of the snow covered mountains..really gorgeous..and walk along and explore. Tahoe is a special
Place w breathtaking vistas.

A group of us were attending a conference in Reno and decided to rent a car and take a couple hours for ourselves to check out Lake Tahoe. It took us about an hour to get there and the scenic drive did not disappoint. We then found a free public beach called Hidden Beach that was quiet and had stunning views. The water was cold but the swim in the crystal blue water was worth it. Very calming and relaxing. Hoping to return there for a family vacation!

By hibill56 |

Excellent venue lovely beach on the lake and site of the Shakespeare festival. Attend almost every year for many years and never disappointed.

By Cavydad |

Lake Tahoe is the bluest of blues. Try your feet in the water. Arctic ice, or so it seems. Even in the summer it is cold. I watch people doing water sports and I always wonder how and why. Perhaps in a boat. But waterskiing.

Great wonderful state park and lake.

By Mark H |

The views and entire scenery from the Lake Tahoe area are simply fabulous. Breath taking at every turn. Our only complaint was that we did not have more time.

By NW-K9s |

Yep...the water really is crystal clear with white sand beneath, yielding deep majestic blues. And yes, there are boulders the size of cars just beneath the surface throughout this northeastern shore of the Lake. Grab a kayak or a SUP to get the best experience.

By Sheri W |

Gorgeous hike down to the water! Water level was low but the view was amazing! Clear water, rocks, and photos!!!

By sensiblesal_1 |

The snow was not falling, but high up at Mt. Rose and Incline Village, children were tobogganing and skiers were on the lifts. We desired to just be IN the place, so we looked for somewhere that we could enjoy the winter in Lake Tahoe yet not be burdened by the snow. We found the perfect place - Incline Beach on the beautiful shores of Lake Tahoe where we had a picnic at the tables. Then we went across the road to Aspen Grove. This is a fitness trail associated with The Chateau (a chapel and place for catered weddings). Since we were already married and had the 11-year-old grandkid with us, we decided to take the loop trail amidst aspens, pines, and various workout bars. We felt very refreshed, uplifted by the gorgeous combination of trees, snow, pinecones, half-frozen brooks, and bridges. The only thing we had to be careful about was the slippery snow, and I only fell once. Before we left, we returned to Incline Beach and watched the superb sunset. A great little outing!

By GenotheViking |

This is a fun and easy hike around a quiet peaceful lake. Look for lots of birds and wildlife. The elevation gain is minimal.

By bajawood |

I'm sure someone else may have a wonderful experience of the place. The night we were camping there, a couple next to us had a brawl and someone even called the police.

By Patricia L |

Absolutely a amazing place . It’s so beautiful. Need the whole weekend to explore. We took the dining cruise for evening. The food was good and the people very nice . Can’t wait to go back and do more !

By JimmyJackk |

Park wraps around Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side. Freeway basically drives right through it. Lots of walking trails and scenic vistas.

By Patricia H |

We planned the tour at the beginning of our trip so we would have an idea of where we might want to return. The tour was more fun and informative than we ever imagined. It was literally one of the best parts of our trip! Jim was an amazing guide.

By EmiliaGlavan |

We love Lake Tahoe. We just discover this amazing, peaceful, beach in North Lake Tahoe, very close to Incline Village. The name of the beach is Hidden Cove/Beach. So pretty, the views are breathtaking and the water so clear and blue. The water is cold whenever we go, doesn't matter if it is summer or winter. They have bathrooms close to the main road. We park and e walked for a mile until we found the spot, a little bit of a hike but not too bad. You can walk on the main road until you see the beach and then you hike for a min down or you can hike along the path in the woods. But the views from the main road are BEAUTIFUL:blue water, amazing boats and jet skies. IT is a must see and visit beach. Not to busy at all. We will go back this weekend again. Just be be prepared to look for parking, is not easy to find especially on a Sunday.

By Isak H |

Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place to spend a hot summer day. The water temperature is perfect, and the sand is really fine and free of litter, rocks and sticks. Perfect location for a day outing!

By Denice113 |

Hiked around this lake with two dogs both on leash ;) ok so one of my dogs was dragging his leash headed towards the water when all of a sudden I saw him sinking quickly into this mush! I ran to pull him out loosing both my shoes in the process...
Hiker beware, what looks like solid ground quickly turns into the goopiest, black mush the closer you get yo the lakes edge...it took a warm bath and dawn dish detergent two people and 30 minutes to remove the muck from my dogs fur...

By Yankeerev |

This is a little hidden gem of a place. We were wanting to go to Sands Harbor Beach, but it was full and packed with people. So we decided to drive further south and found a parking lot and a path that takes you down to Chimney Beach. The hike is moderate, but worth it. When we arrived there were a few families around, but we had our own little piece of Lake Tahoe heaven. The sights, beaches, rocks and nature make this far more attractive than the other more congested beach.

Forget the throngs of people as Sands Harbor Beach. Go to
Chimney Beach instead. You won't regret it...

By xAngelaMarie |

I was here in June, and like everything in the area, I just reveled in the sheer beauty. Definitely with your time, and even better if you can manage to find time without the crowds.

By Sue M |

Lake views are awesome. Lots of great hiking trails. Really liked the hike to Marlette Lake. Aspen glens around Spooner Lake and surrounding areas is awesome.

By Ann M |

Great destination for a scenic day trip, picnic or photograph. Park inside gate. Bring a coat and sunscreen.

By Anne32825 |

Spooner Lake, Cave Rock Beach and Sand Harbor are all part of Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. At least during the quiet season - one entry fee paid at one of them, covers you for entry at the other two on that same day. We checked with the ranger at Cave Rock Beach. We especially enjoyed the first two - stayed only briefly at Cave Rock beach. All three have clean restrooms and picnic facilities. Enjoy!

By Skip a |

We always enjoy going to Lake Tahoe. This time we chose to spend time in Incline Village in Nevada rather staying in the busier South Lake Tahoe. We enjoyed the many views of the lovely lake and did lots of exploring where ever and whenever we had the opportunity. Rental are available on the Lake ...water is quite cold for swimming!

By Linda C |

Stayed overnight in Lake Tahoe and the next day took a four hour cruise on the Lake where we had a barbecue lunch. The views on the journey to Lake Tahoe and when you are there are stunning, a must see.

By Karen T |

Please don't come and plug up the roads! Sky is too blue, water is too clear, land is too beautiful for your eyes. they will hurt.

By Sunseekergirl77 |

We had planned to stop in at Lake Tahoe State Park beach for a quick visit and picnic lunch. I am being upfront about the fact that we did not actually visit the park, we attempted to do so and there were a few things I wish I could have found out while researching this trip, so I will share what I learned as we attempted to visit the park.

First off, we are from the flat lands in Minnesota and easily forget that not everywhere is so flat :) Getting to Lake Tahoe is a steep jaunt up a small mountain to us flat-landers. We went in the beginning of June, and there was still some snow on the ground as we climbed higher. Our GPS did not work up there and we had just a little bit of trouble finding the park. I was surprised by how BUSY it was up there, at around 1pm on a weekday in the beginning of June!! Traffic was pretty bad and there were pedestrians everywhere. When we finally found the entrance to the park, there was a LOT FULL sign on the parking lot area. The parking area looked pretty small compared to other parks. There were people parking all along the roadway and walking with all their beach gear to the park. It would be quite a hike to do this, as the hills here are very steep and the beach is quite a bit lower than the road; there are also hills on the road where people were parking.
The main thing I wish I had known was just how full/busy it could be during a weekday afternoon in early summer and how much of a jaunt it would be to park and walk in from along the road. I have mobility issues, and it was difficult to find information related to that...I hope this review can help someone else to plan better than I did!

We ended up going to another state park very near Lake Tahoe, just a little bit down the road and on the opposite side of the highway. It was a very nice park with ample parking, nice picnic areas and restrooms.

By James M |

Fantastic views of lake and the surroundings. Very easy to access the beaches, and good swimming areas.

By Galleybrook |

Lake Tahoe did not disappoint. Even it was raining/snowing and cold I was so glad to get to see diamond bag and other parts of the lake. Look forward to another visit in the summer time when I can actually get out and see things.

By suz406 |

Lake Tahoe is so beautiful. We drove from Reno on our Harley and drove around the entire Lake and every part has something so breathtaking! We did love Incline Village area, the beach and the view was amazing. The mountains around it give it a very peaceful feel! A must do if you in the area.

By Paul G |

The bright blue and very cold waters provide an outstanding viewing opportunity as one drives around the 72 miles of shoreline.

Take your time, Pull off and be inspired by this incredible body of water.

By Nevzeta V |

First time visitor. Cant wait to go back. Sooo much too do. People are very friendly. The scenery is amazing.

By Patritius |

Visited the Spooner Lake portion of Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. Easy accessible trails to moderate trails. Popular fishing hole. There is a 2 mile hike around the lake, but the lake itself is about 400 yards from the parking lot along an easy trail.

By Bob J |

We are known for great parks here at Tahoe and this one does not disappoint. Enjoy hiking trails, great views of the lake, biking, relaxing, etc. I would recommend checking this out when in the Tahoe Area.

By TahoeMark |

This is a Must See part of Lake Tahoe. One of the best preserved, most natural areas in the Basin. Easy access and activities for all levels of physical ability and available time. Hiking, photography, wildlife, camping - it's all here!

By mini |

We've been to Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park Numerous times. I love the views of the lake from the Nevada side of the lake. We've done some fishing. We've also done some hiking. Its a gorgeous place to be.

By Diane D |

Our hotel had a private beach that wanted $9 per person and with 8 of us, it would be $72. Thankfully, we were told that Nevada beach was only $10 per carload. We all climbed in the one car, drove a mile and entered a beautiful beach that I was able to ride in my wheelchair almost all the way to the water. The water was cold, clear and beautiful. What a joy to see pine trees next to the sandy beach...a real change from our So. Cal beaches! Our son and granddaughter walked along the beautiful paths that surround the beach. We only had about 2 hours to spend but this was enough time for the kids to jump in the water but for $10 it was well worth it.

By Gneiss1 |

It is beautiful and serene here. Though, I was here in the shoulder season. I have heard it's not do serene in the summer. Beautiful views. When I saw it I was happy the state has protected the land from "development" and for the people to enjoy.

I'm an event planner for my company and recently had the splendid opportunity to find Gerald Scholl of Sierra Fin Addicts of Lake Tahoe!

When we held our Sales Meeting in Lake Tahoe this year there was virtually no natural snow in Tahoe which is very rare, so I scrambled to find activities for 12 non-skiing attendees. Since the weather was unseasonably mild I thought about fishing on Lake Tahoe but fishing in February is the off season for the fishing charters. Then I found Gerald and The Sierra Fin Addicts!! Not only did Gerald come to my aid he found two additional captains and boats!

Gerald worked closely with me throughout the whole planning process to insure a successful event. He even went out of his way go to the store for me to buy some extra items! He and the other two captains arrived at the dock right outside our hotel; The Hyatt Regency - A Fan-tastic hotel! How convenient it that!? The wind was picking up which isn't really good for fishing but the temperatures were in the 60's, the skies were beautiful, the water clear and Gerald said "Let's do it!" and no matter what "he'd make sure everyone had a great time".

As it turned out, my group caught 9 fish! Gerald and the other 2 captains cleaned all the fish, packed them up in coolers and at Gerald's suggestion my group of 12 took the fish a local restaurant and cooked them on the spot!

Although I wasn't one of the attendees, ALL my participants raved about the fun they had and thanked me for picking Sierra Fin Addicts. THANK YOU GERALD!! What a great day!!! Gerald, Hans and Chuck were the perfect hosts!

If you ever go to Lake Tahoe, I ENCOURAGE you to go fishing on Lake Tahoe with Gerald Scholl and Sierra Fin Addicts! You'll be glad you experienced this fabulous adventure!

This is a wonderful park with many beautiful Vistas and easy trails to climb. My teen boys really enjoyed climbing the rocks. I would differently recommend to families traveling with teens.

What a nice place for meeting your family and friends for Christmas . Although it wasn't snowing, everything was expensive and everywhere was full we had a great time.

By Warren G W |

Many of the spectacular views and recreation areas along Lake Tahoe's north shore have been recently organized together as Lake Tahoe - Nevada State Park. This includes Sand Harbor, Spooner Lake, and multiple other trailheads, scenic outlooks and such activities as a nude beach (at the bottom of a 1/2-mile-long steep trail). Worth spending a full day exploring. Caution: Extremely busy and crowded during the summer - July 4 through Labor Day).

By CBGonzales |

the only place in San francisco that amazed me. All the beautiy of nature that you're looking for is in this place. Snowy mountains, beach, trees etc...

Came up to lake Tahoe to experience all the beauty this lake has to offer.I had no idea the parking was going to be a nightmare.I came during the week to avoid crowds and it was way to crowded for me to enjoy.Every attraction i tried to see had full parking lots and no parking.Very minimal free access to the lake,it was either private or you need some kind of a pass to get to the lake or pay to park just to take a few pics and leave. All the free road side look out views were packed with illegal parked cars all in the road making it dangerous. The parking was not designed for thousands of visitors to be coming here. All i could do was drive in circles around the lake and enjoy the views. They don’t charge you for that and you don’t need a pass.

This is a beautiful place. The paths are paved. lots of parking and simply serene and breathtaking scenery. We absolutely loved out visit. recommend bringing a bike or renting one from Shoreline rental company nearby on Kahle street. We wish we discovered this sooner during out stay as we would have visited more often.

By Freya1958 |

We enjoyed a leisurely drive around Lake Tahoe today stopping at lots of the viewing points and some of the towns. What stunning scenery!!!! It is late in the season at the moment but I can imagine the beautiful lake filled with sailing boats. The water is magnificent - in some places you can see three distinct colour stages ranging from a very light blue through to a very deep blue - quite delightful. We will return to this beautiful area to enjoy a different season.

By Jacqui O |

Everything about this place is postcard perfect. The water is crystal clear and ideal for paddle boarding, kayak and swimming (if you don't mind cool water). I would pack snacks as there is only one restaurant and its a bit pricy and doesn't have many healthy options - although I would recommend their cocktails to celebrate being in one of the most beautiful places in the USA!

By tahirs |

Stunning views, amazing beaches (Sand Harbour), beautiful crystal clear blue water. End of Augusts was a great time as few holiday makers, kids back at school etc - but still great weather.

By Clayton G |

A great way to spend the Holidays. Incline village is a cozy little village nestled in the Sierras her the lake. There are lots of great little rentals, fine dining, shopping, skiing and more. I have great memories of spending Christmas's with my children here.

By h0rsew0man |

Easy access to the lake. WE went in September after the crowds and it was very laid back.

By ArlettaC |

We spent a beautiful fall afternoon at Spooner Lake, in the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. Saw only a few other people on the trail that circles the lake. The trail itself is a well-graded, easy 2+ mile walk through pine forest, aspen groves, and lakeside edges. There is something to see on every turn: huge pines, the lovely small lake covered with waterfowl, Native American grinding stones, and the creamy white bark of the aspens. We were too late for the fall color, but the bare aspens were still beautiful, and the northern end of the lake is ringed with shrubs that show off their reddish branches once the leaves are gone, and provide a wonderful contrast against the blue water. Lots of parking, restrooms available at the trailhead, and fall beauty galore.

By Meredith W |

This is a great stop location for views of the lake! Some of my best photos of the lake from a recent vacation were taken at this location. There are restrooms, nicely maintained trails, and many plagues with interesting information about the lake that you have to read. I highly recommend stopping here to stretch your legs and take in some amazing views of the lake!

By Aidaacc |

Beautiful place. We could not enjoy everything be cause of the snow but the views were outstanding. Lots of snow in november!!!!! Happy to be here now.

By GARY C |

if you go anywhere in the USA this is a must see OVER VEGAS and anywhere else. the shear beauty and scenery is second to none and the lake and park are top notch.. this is a must see

By pspoker |

The lake is so beautiful. If you are going to be in the area, you must stop to enjoy. I would recommend to stop and get a sandwich or some kind of lunch and sit and take in the beauty. Lots of trees, clear water, just gorgeous.

By TahoeMark |

The very best part of Lake Tahoe. Access from various points including Tunnel Creek Road im Incline Village and Spooner Lake near Hwy 50. Or through the Flume Train or Tahoe Rim Trail. Great hiking, mountain biking, and stunning views.

By D R |

There are some amazing coves along this part of the shoreline on Lake Tahoe. One of the best is a spot called Hidden beach just a bit south of Incline Village at the park line. A 1/4 mile hike will bring you to an amazing sandy beach with facilities and some wonderful rocks to scramble on or jump off and swim around. Parking is tricky, get there early.

By Hank956 |

what a great place,

what do you want to do, swim, boat, ski, hike, bike, relax, people watch with a view

great access points at incline village and south along the road.

get here early for the best parking spots

quite popular year round from what we heard. on the weekends large crowds.

the views are spectacular, make it a day as the scenery changes with the different aspects of the sun

take a hike up into the hills and enjoy wildlife,

Bucket list, CHECK

One of the most beautiful state parks along the gorgeous lake. Good place for a picnic or swimming (in the summer), and even some hiking. Can be a little crowded in the summer. Terrific views of the mountains and the lake.

By outbackphotographer |

Tahoe has developed into one mega resort. However there are still places away from the crowds that are pristine.

By Angela Nara |

This state park is really beautiful and nice! The air so fresh and all around look fantastic 🌸 you can relax and blow your feelings!

By Kyle3226 |

The Lake as well as the country side is a place to see and relax. There are places to go see, and do all year around .If you like to walk see the country side, bicycle , go to the many shops that are here and going to the Lake to swim and more .. This is the place to be .. 365 days a year ... And if you like to gamble there are places for that too.

By mariagloria |

This was our favorite park at Lake Tahoe! It is easy to get to on Highway 28 and the drive is not too challenging or scary (as opposed to Emerald Bay). There are a variety of hiking trails, some of which are paved and very easy. The scenery is gorgeous, especially the large rocks in the water. We visited this park twice over a 3-day visit because we liked it so much.

By shoshosho |

we love this place. it has a lot of activities for winter and summer. we usually go here for ski in winter, but we also visit here for summer activities. the best thing we like to do here is to rent a boat and cruise around the lake. wonderful experience. I highly recommend the boat rental. the price may be a bit steep though.

By RealPaynes |

The Hoe is a beautiful place, with pristine views and gorgeous water. Nice drive around the lake, and plenty of places to shop and eat.

By RichAdvisor |

We boated over to Emerald cove and dropped a few of us off at the island. It is a pleasant hike to the tea house at the pinnacle—- some very good views of the surrounding park.

By Steve C |

I was busy complaining about how so much of Tahoe is private and thus not really enjoyable as we entered the State park. This was exactly what I was looking for and we were lucky enough to be here at sunset so I got some nice pictures.
Best experience at Lake Tahoe was had here.

By Thomas V |

This is a special park along the side of the incredible Lake Tahoe. I drove through here and was amazed at the beautiful nature on a perfectly clear day. Just superb.

By thehoff |

There is a very solid reason why they call Lake Tahoe the sports capitol of America.
Water ski, jet ski, mountain biking, and I can't wait until the funds come in to finish the proposed biking trail from Incline to Sand Harbor Beach.

By IamMona |

Beautiful views and there are numerous scenic points on Mt.rose Hwy and on the State routes that run along the lake (89, 50 and 28). More beautiful during winter and guaranteed picturesque photographs for your album!!

By Cheryl S |

Everyone said that Lake Tahoe was experiencing a longer winter season. It snowed in the first of April. We were disappointed that we could not get into some of the parks due to the snow or the improvement projects but it was still nice enough to enjoy!

By kevinwind56 |

A lot of people go for the winter sports but in the summer time there is hiking trails biking trails and beautiful back country to see, even if you are just driving. Many sights to see along if hiking biking or driving.

By Sally T |

Absolutely beautiful but we only paid for an hour at the car park,, not knowing just how far everywhere was which was a shame. Think some notices in the car park warning everybody as to how long it takes to walk to the water and beyond would be a good idea.

By cvalentino |

We've been traveling to Lake Tahoe from the Bay area for years. But somehow I never entered this great park right on the crystalline turquoise waters of Lake Tahoe. Such a nice walk and there is even a boardwalk nearby at Sand Harbour for those with children, etc. Highly recommended.

By David Hardie |

Sand Harbor is the best park on the lake. 180 degree views from the beach, also nice picnic area and boat ramp when the lake level adequate. On busy days park at the old school about the Village Market and take the bus.

By StephenCross |

The parks around Lake Tahoe are absolutely amazing. The vistas of both the lake and the backdrop of the mountains are endless.

By Balasubramanian R |

Lake Tahoe Nevada is a Park maintained by the Nevada State. Public recreation areas on the North east shores of Lake Tahoe are there. In many places, it is high above the shoreline of lake Tahoe.

By payelchakravorti |

Lake Tahoe is pride of California. It's located at the border of California and Nevada & absolutely pleasure to see this natural beauty. It's huge & one can enjoy a weekend trip here. We made a mistake & kept half day which is really insufficient to absorb this blue beauty completely. Autumn adds more value to it's beauty. It's a not to miss attraction.

By Violette54 |

I absolutely love Lake Tahoe so I was delighted to visit this park again. The parking lot is at road level and there is a restroom building. Parking is free and this is one of the only places where one can park and enjoy the lake without needing to pay. Walk around and down the stairs to the paths leading down to water. Large boulders are there that just beg for one to climb and have their photo taken or take one of someone else.
The water is quite clear and there is a great view across the lake. May is very pleasant at Tahoe. Most things are open and yet not so crowded that too many people become a problem.

By kencoutts |

We stayed at South Lake Tahoe in mid October and experienced wonderful weather which showcased the beauty and scenery of this spectacular AlpinevLake surrounded by Mountains of 9,000 feet.

Autumn/ Fall colours are wonderful. There are a variety of activities notwithstanding that he Heavenly Gondola is closed. The lake has brilliant blue waters.

It s hard to describe the beauty of the Bay's.

So much to do and even the Casinos should you need.

A great break in beautiful countryside.

By paxas |

Beauty abounds in every direction! This is a slice of heaven, If you haven't visited Tahoe you need to, and I would suggest taking the scenic loop around the entire lake it is worth every drop of gas!

By SusanNeuman |

We loved touring through Incline Village on the edge of Lake Tahoe! It was like visiting a little bit of Switzerland. The lake is gorgeous, and small beaches provided a nice respite to get out and touch a toe in the cool lake water. A beach bar served liquid refreshments and snacks, and you could just relax and breathe the pure, clean air.

By Nav30 |

The Lake Tahoe state park is amazing , lots of skiing in the winters and lots of activities in the summer . Great place to drive and see beautiful views and great restaurants . The park has beautiful hikes and lots of other adventure sports.

By Frederick K |

Lake Tahoe has not to many places where you can comfortable launch your Boat or wade into the water...It is somewhat hidden on the Nevada side..and out of the way for many people as they race on HWY 50 trough this beautiful place called Tahoe.

By Chris W |

The pristine beauty of the lake is amazing! No other alpine lake in the world compares with the majesty of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area.

By volson1016 |

It was a beautiful.scenic vacation with hiking and biking in the parks around Lake Tahoe. The climate was comfortable during the day and cool quickly at night. We had a great time.

By Dana R |

We have had many travels around the world and seen many natural wonders. Lake Tahoe is up there in the Top 10. Its sheer size, depth, and the spectacular colors are breathtaking. I doubt that a painting or photograph can catch the full breath of the view. It is worth the drive.

By Michael O |

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon in 2004 and have been back many times since. Not just for sentimental reasons - it really is one of the most beautiful places in America. We would come more often but we live 5,400 miles away and want to spread our trips across the pond to other parts of the States.

As a photographer, the opportunities for great shots is endless. As someone who likes to mix with the locals, the people here are really friendly and welcoming. As a foodie, there is something for everyone, from fine dining to fast food.

Cannot recommend this place enough.

By Must Do Travels |

America's most captivating scenery and inviting outdoor experiences. It offers a lot of outdoor activities to enjoy.

By ROBERT S |

Drove out to the lake from Reno - perhaps 45 minutes or so. Gorgeous lake and mountains. There is a sand beach that is quite popular. You can swim in the lake and look up at snow-capped mountains!

By Jacqueline C |

This tiny park is so beautiful. There are small patches of beach, and a boat launch. Perfect for kayaking, diving, and lounging around with friends or family. It has a $12 admission if you are from out of state. We must have looked like tourists, because the $2 out of state surcharge was added even though they didn't ask (and our plates were local). Take a camera. Enjoy.

By Valorie B |

I enjoyed the Kings Beach the sand was abundant and good quality. There were plenty of activities including sunning, swimming, boating, volleyball and picknicking.

By HHenry5236 |

Just did a write up, but. . . Drove around the lake on a day trip & took our time. Loved all parts of it. Incline Village has the beautiful homes, nice beach & park & picnic tables. The Lake was so clear & pure, thank goodness. The mountains around it are majestic.

By Lynne R |

In my mind I thought Lake Tahoe would be commercialized with big resorts. Boy was I wrong! This is a place on this earth you have to see. Mark Twain once wrote.. you can count the speckles on each trout at 100feet deep. I think you can.
The beauty and peace surrounding this corner of paradise will soothe your soul, and enhance your travel horizons.

By Mario L |

Driving around the lake itself is already a great experience. Stopping at the beaches like Incline Village, Emerald Bay and South Lake Tahoe is also wonderful. Now if you take the ferry that goes across the lake, that is awesome and you can even take yourself a picture with a Mark Twain clone who is always sitting somewhere in this ship.

By Lionsmaine |

Very scenic. We stayed at the Best Western and were suprised to find that the rear of our room was overlooking the beach/lake area.
not much to do here though we only stayed the night. We were very bored. The food options were very limited also.

By tanyasm |

Fun place e to sit and enjoy the beauty of the lake as well as hike, picnic, or enjoy lake sports like paddle boarding, boating, and parasailing. This is an exquisite place to get the privilege to visit and would really enjoy a return visit.

By CharleySays |

Well, no matter what the side events like parking or porta potties or any other thing people might complain about, the views of the lake are fabulous. The water is so clear and blue, the light glimmers so sweetly on the water. The smell of the air is intoxicating. The mountains on the other side of the lake are so clear. Just to stop and contemplate, meditate or cogitate is a joy. No matter how you enter, most will leave peacefully with a greater connection to nature. I love this place, especially in the early morning and at sunset. A winner.

By Luvtravels33 |

I took the scenic route on a business trip from Reno to Sacramento, and Lake Tahoe is beautiful. This is on my list of places to visit when I have more time to enjoy it.

By ki0ki |

Bright blue water of Lake Tahoe was wonderful ringed by snow capped mountains. It was May and still cold but the sun was shining and all was good. Enjoy the clear cold water view. Some brave souls were in the water.

By alycedale |

We were driving around looking at the lake and came across this place. You can go down the trails to come to amazing views. Make sure to have a camera with you.

By Dfwboi |

For a taste of Tahoe in a relaxed and peaceful surrounding, visit all the state parks around Tahoe. We are there in May, highly recommended to avoid all the crowds. This time of year the weather is moderated and the crowds are sparse.

Enjoy the nature of Tahoe.

By Ulysses S |

This is a decent stop to make on the north shore of the lake if you're driving in that direction. You get a lot of info on the lake (including why the water is do blue). There are great views towards the south and plenty of easy parking.

By C-Z-1982 |

Lake Tahoe is so much bigger than you would imagine, it really is huge. Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park is comprised of the Northeast areas of Lake Tahoe (over 14,000 acres) Depending on where you are, you can hike and/or mountain bike (Tahoe trail), swim (Sandy Harbor), or picnic or fish (Spooner Lake and Sandy Harbor for picnic). During the summer you can also attend live performances at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival (Sandy Harbor). It is a gem of a park that is used by locals and visitors alike.

By Ca F |

Had a great time in this wonderful place. We had a nice day, we walked 30 minutes to got to one of the hills.

By mpugh22 |

There is so much beauty along this shoreline. The views are constant. You just want to take it all in.

The state park is made up of multiple areas to explore and enjoy. We took advantage of Sand Harbor and did not regret it. Other areas like Cave Rock and Spooner look to be great too. Hope to see them more when we return!

Well done, Nevada, with this area of Lake Tahoe. Thanks for making it available for the public to enjoy.

By David S |

Picnicked here while staying in Sparks, NV. About a hour drive from Reno. Some of the most beautiful lake and forest scenery you will ever see. Picnicking with the Tamil here is a no brainer.

By Kris10AP |

It was lovely!! I was there in October and the crowds weren't bad. Very few people on the trails and once I started hiking, I felt like I had the place to myself. Amazing views. I will definitely be returning!

By BECHAY_DG |

Gorgeous!!! This has been my 5th time enjoying its beauty but it was like always the first time. Lake Tahoe is definitely one of the world's beauteous places.

By Callibra |

Plenty of parking and nice easy hike around Spooner Lake & 2.1 miles. Varied flora make for enjoyable easy level walk.

By Monica N |

Road trip! My husband and I were close enough to venture off to Lake Tahoe, Nevada State Park. Wow! What a pleasant surprise!!
We were traveling in our large RV but didn't have a problem finding a place to park. We wanted to find a nice restaurant, visit, and sight-see.
We held hands like we were kids again and walked the shores of the Lake. The lake was so crystal-clear as we watched small boats go by. The mountains were a wonderful backdrop!
The air was fresh with the smell of pine trees and the calming breeze of fresh water.
The locals are very friendly! It was a moment that I will always remember.

Enjoy!

By Eileenh812 |

Spent 2 days there for the round trip of the whole lake. Sand harbor was the first place we stopped accidentally. Colorful and peaceful place just like a paradise....love it so much!!

By 111Wanderlust |

Must visit if youre in the reno area!!! Only an jour away, there is no reason not to visit this place.
Parking was convenient during the weekday only at $10. On the weekend, you will need reservations.
The trail is 15 min walk

By BelindaG912 |

utterly stunning landscape everyone needs to see. we drove over from reno and watched the sun come up over north lake tahoe and then just sat and looked at the beauty of the horizon where the water and the snow capped mountains met.

By 2BEis2SKI |

So much to do here. You can just drive and admire the scenery but better to stop at any number of designated parking areas and walk the beach, trails or just gawk at the views. A remarkable place that deserves more than just a pass through.

A lot of the trails are pretty moderate and can easily be walked in regular shoes or even sandals if you are walking to one of the beach areas.

Sunset views are out of this world.

By John L |

If you are entertaining an out-of-town visitor, bring them up here to the Lake. It will blow away their prejudices about Nevada.

By Sam |

Other than the difficult steep 1 mile long incline back up to the parking lot, this hike was well worth it for the beautiful views once you get there! It is so picturesque in this area, the water is clear, the beach is clean, the trails were mostly easy to walk (besides the occasional ice patch). The only thing that I could even complain about was the bathroom situation... It's a hole in the floor & all they offer is hand sanitizer. Other than that I highly recommend a stop here, just bring your walking shoes and some water

By mssrfoie |

Although the tourist season was over, the fall beauty and relative quietness of both North and South Lake Tahoe is hard to forget. Temperatures were very comfortable in the day time, and all of the shopping and most of the attractions seem to continue. A nice ride away from Reno or Carson City, NV as well.

By AARDVARKKILLER |

Had a reservation, started on time. The GPS system in the cart gives great distances. Course was immaculate, staff attentive

By SLindsey1225 |

The trip up in the gondolas $50 per person is well worth a family entire day. The views on the way up and park way at the top was amazing. There is enough to do to stay all day

By Irene W |

This is probably the most beautiful lake I have laid eyes upon, and I live in Southern Oregon! There are little turn outs and hiking trails all around the lake. It is great for a short walk to stretch your legs, a longer hike or even some fun on the water!

By Josh P |

The water clarity of Lake Tahoe is the best I’ve seen of any North American lake thus far. With beautiful views, rock formations and comfortable warm temperature it is a destination paradise. There are so many secret coves here one can hike to, put up a chair and just relaxing and admiring the lake. While the snowmelt water can be very cold, one can still swim in it in July/August. Water activities are everywhere to enjoy including a slow river rafting trip from excess water released from the lake each summer. While Sand Harbor is a popular beach spot to soak up some rays.

By rfkiii |

A stark difference from the California side of North Lake Tahoe that is completely private property for the 20 miles we drove until we gave up. The Nevada side has overlooks and turnouts at many places along the way providing much scenic beauty for photo ops.

By Bes9002 |

Great views of the mountains and Lake Tahoe. The scenery is amazing. It is one of the many free spots to experience while at Lake Tahoe.

By Terri S |

It was not crowded. It was cold (60 degrees) and the Heavenly Gondola was closed for summer preparation. We drove around the whole lake and stopped for photo ops and eating lunch.

By Foodie Phenom |

Quick stop really just for the views as I was exploring North Lake area. Can't get much more picturesque than this. People were walking there dogs & playing along the beach

By Timurkilic |

Great for strolling along the lake or just laying on the beach. Go to the Hyatt dock and enjoy a drink.

By freewaymaster |

Disappointed. The view is good, hence the two stars. We Drove from San Francisco to see a big lake and small sand. Maybe april is wrong time of year to go. Bunch of Snotty, Bratty, entitled people who only care about themselves.

By Heatherweather432 |

Beautiful winter hike. Views from the top are picture worthy. Parking is tight, be patient and it's worth the wait.

By PDXbree |

Not many of the parks were open this time of year, but we stopped by and took a peek since we've never been before. Its beautiful - but it was still cold outside!!

By Jerome |

Although I was traveling in the month of May...always be prepared for the unexpected around these parts. As I was crossing over the pass from Nevada to California, we had to stop and buy snow chains just to get around and continue over the mountain. This is a very unforgiving land when she wants to be but she is also one of the most beautiful lands in the northern Nevada and California locations!!

By drdinnj |

Lake Tahoe is probably among the best in the nation to visit or live. The Nevada State Park has Sand Harbor for wonderful venues (including the Shakespeare and Broadway festivals) a great beach at Sand Harbor and also secluded beaches needing a hike down.....but more than worth the hike.
"Your vacation is my home". Come and visit.

By Shoesrchocolate |

It is a short walk down the hill and back up with some rough terrain. Lots of pretty area for pics if you want to get on the rocks. Also, has a trail to a private beach. We didn't make the over mile hike. Very pleasant and definitely recommend stopping by.

By Thomas V |

Tahoe is so special, really one of the most beautiful places in the world, and this great park is one of the best places to see it. Just perfect. Great day here.

By Kikki K |

Beautiful views, quaint little village. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit but it's nice if you have to drive through.

By wacotx46 |

Be sure to see this lake in any season: popular ski area in winter, but lake partially freezes over. Parking is scarce. Restaurants and hotels are extremely expensive in winter. The narrow 2 lane highway around the lake takes about an hour and a half, slower in bad weather or when bicyclists are present (which they always are). Some great photo stops. Watch out for the one steep hill which appears to go up and drop off into nothingness, haha, as it's a scary road.

By Scott |

Easily one of the most beautiful state parks in the country. No end things to look at or learn about.

By mcdonapa |

Great place to visit in the area. Lots of things to do and the lake is very pretty. Can kill a day and it is not expensive at all.

By rjgypsy |

Whether it's swimming in the clean lake water, hiking to hidden lakes or waterfalls or riding bikes through the trees my trip to south Tahoe was great!! Recommend Applebee's for salads and atmosphere and Sand Harbor for swimming.

By sistapleto |

Driving on State Hiway 28 along the eastern side of Lake Tahoe is a real treat in the fall. We stopped by Spooner Lake State Park and had great hike around the lake. Lots of birds and outstanding fall color. Easy hiking and biking but more challenges within the park area. Fall has to be the best time to visit. the color is spectacular and the crowds are smaller. Take you time. Much to enjoy.

By Sharon K |

Lake Tahoe has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth! The views of the lake are breathtaking! Hiking is marvelous. the air so clean and fresh, the water pristine. Alot to do, from outdoor activities to casino nightlife.

By Kevin c |

It's really pretty and nice- looking. We drove around and then frolicked in the water at Sandy Harbor, very nice time. Wanted to swim more, but kinda cold water still...mmm, good!

By Bowmanator22 |

This park is located just off of the highway and is very easy to access. It is a very peaceful place to stay for a bit, go for a walk, or just snap a few photos.

By katmai8 |

What a beautiful place. If you are looking for something less crowded than the slopes, visit Spooner Lake. There are nice trails around the lake that are great for those not from the mountains who haven't acclimated yet. Majestic snow-draped trees. You can rent snowshoes at CVSports in Carson City near Highway 50.

By steverM8495ML |

Lake Tahoe is a year round entertainment center. Some of the best skiing in the nation in winter, some of the best wild life adventures and hiking trails in spring and fall. The big Summer events are something you will not see in a average resort town. Summer on the lake is great, with fishing, water sports, boat and jet ski rentals and dinner aboard a lake cruise.

By ppark0927 |

I am visiting Lake Tahoe during the shoulder season between summer and winter and it is very quiet. I think it is a perfect time of the year as it is perfect during the day and cold at night. This park is absolutely beautiful and worth the visit.

By KLH1956 |

Sand Harbor on a hot summer day, there is no other place to be. The sand reminds you of a Hawaiian beach and so does the Sun. It's a busy place so you will want to go there during an earlier day in the week if you're going to go there after 11 am. otherwise you need to be there before 10 am to get into the Park. The area of a rocks to the north of the beach is a good place to enter the water when snorkeling. The water is cool to warm and a 5 mm wet suit is a good idea. The water is very clear and visibility under water is about 50 ft.

Great place to snorkel, swim, relax on the beach, and to hike on the trails.

By spankyandsarah |

I received the Marlette Lake hike recommendation on Twitter via @TravelNevada and was not disappointed. It was a 12-mile roundtrip hike with a gradual 1,000-foot incline to Marlette Lake. First word of advice, park alongside the road near the boat inspection area so you don't have to pay the $10 entry fee into the park ($10 and there wasn't even any running water or restrooms!). My hubby and I parked at the boat inspection area about half a mile away then just had to pay $1 each to walk in. The trail is well-marked and heads in a couple different directions. We hiked to the lake on the Marlette Lake Trail and back on the fire road alongside the mountain bikers. Once you get to the lake, keep heading around it to the left and you'll reach a small dam with views of Lake Tahoe over the hill. It's so incredibly peaceful and took us exactly four hours.

By Anne B |

We were just passing through on our way to Yosemite but wish we’d set aside a day to explore, the views from Logan Shoals were just stunning. It was 4th July and the areas around the lake were just full of people having a good time

By Caroll |

Beautiful views of Lake Tahoe! Get to North Shore via US 80. NOT AS STEEP. NORTH SHORE is prettier than South Shore and The Builtmore gas good clean rooms at a lower price. Gaming there is Terrific!

By ThomasEMM |

Lake Tahoe is a so-called alpine lake. It's really nice and astonishing, it's one of those things you should have seen at least once in your lifetime. Try and book a cruise around the lake for better views and more background information. There are many nice vista points around the lake.
