The Lake of the Ozarks is clean and as busy of a lake as you want it to be. It’s 99 miles long. The Higher the mile marker numbers, the quieter the lake. There is something here for everyone. Holiday weekends are hectic in the more populated areas. I boat every week and rarely have had a problem. Like all boating, you have to be careful and responsible. Life jackets provide for a safe experience. The Lake is beautiful year round. Posting from the 2 mile marker.
Be sure you plan the vacation you want to have.

There is something for everyone here. It's January and so nice we are touring the dam.
Summer is the best time to visit. There are still lots of mom and pop motels around and the big resorts too. It's easy to rent a boat or jet ski .

We stayed in a lakehouse of a friend for a week. Our stay was on the quiet side of the Lake of the Ozarks or the west side. The nearest community was Sunrise Beach and Laure. This location offered easy access to Osage Beach ten miles west. We did go over there twice during the week for a dinner at Batter's Box at Lake Ozark and a music show at Main Street Music Hall. Visited the discount mall area and found some good prices. Antiquing was fun and successful. I would recommend the antique shop located at The Landing in the older section of Osage Beach. Quality antiques and a wonder and friendly owner. Also a lot of nice antique shops in Sunrise Beach, south of Sunrise Beach, Laure, and north of Laure.

Lake of the Ozarks is great for fantastic scenary and relaxing venues. We travelled off peak, but it was still a good time and we pretty much had the lake to ourselves! Don't be fooled by the colder temps in October, the lake is still 70-75 degrees (same as the Caribbean in the winter.) We did have some issues with venues / attactions being open, but we made it work. The area is slowly developing into the craziness one finds @ Wisconsin Dells, but is much larger in total area.

retired to the lake in 2011,living the dream, summer months are full of lake activities, tourists can rent boats, wave runners,go para sailing.ride a jetboat, ozarkland and dogpatch have tshirts, hats,a friendly old timer greets you when you enter,a must see tour the dam on the strip, stop in at grandmas fudge shop Friday nights its the happening place, bridal cave, many mini golf and go cart rides.pick up a vacation guide, coupon book for savings.

We went to Lake of the Ozarks for my patmrents 60th Wedding Anniversary. We rented a house off of VRBO and it was perfect. The people are so friendly and welcoming. The lake is beautiful and there are so many things to do. The have an awesome grocery store too that was a mile from our rental place...it was huge, really nice, fresh items, lots of choices...plus it carried bait for fishing, beach towels and water toys and floats...so if you needed anything...they had it. I cant remember the name of it...but we loved it and waved as we left the area...LOL. We had 22 of us from 1 yeae old to 85 years old and EVERYONE had a great time. We will be back!!!

We visited during a hot, sunny summer weekend and had a great time with our 1 and 3 year old. There are beautiful state park beaches, our kids enjoyed playing in the sand and in the water. We enjoyed time at the pool with the lake view in the background.
The area is growing, with more condo buildings going up on the lakeshore. Depending on where you stay, there are still forested areas to enjoy.
We look forward to visiting again to enjoy putt-putt golf and the arcades in the area when our kids are old enough.

I wasn't sure what to expect on this trip as reviews are so across the board. Finger coves are everywhere on the lake and neat to see. Osage beach is where all the stores are concentrated for groceries and shopping. Restaurants are dotted along the lake, and it was confusing to figure out which ones allowed boat parking.
Overall, it seems there are mega boats and mega mansions being built. Every home had a covered dock with mutilple slips. There is very little natural beauty to be seen. Lake traffic is very busy with jet skis weaving in between. Locals say people are bringing 60ft ocean boats on the lake causing big wakes. Some of the homes are well over 7,000 sqft.
Andy's has good custard. Wobbly Boots has good BBQ. Hot up Pappos for pizza. HyVee is the place to get groceries and right next to Target for sundries. There is an outlet mal. There are clubs along "the strip" to party the night away.

Awesome! Stay away from the big end of the lake and go to the upper smaller end of the lake. Boating, swimming and fishing is great! Soooo much more enjoyable!

We enjoy coming to the lake during the week when it's not so crazy; otherwise, the amount of watercraft on the lake can get overwhelming. There are a huge variety of lodging options and recreational opportunities on the lake, plus some beautiful caves and state parks nearby.

I totally agree with the other negative posts about this lake. I went out on a rental pontoon for my first time here. The large cruisers and off shore racers have no consideration for your safety. I had two little ones on my boat and felt I had made a poor decision bringing them along. I even had a boat purposely hit me with wake. His passengers were laughing and clowning at us as I throttled down and tried to recover. This was from the bow too, inexcusable behavior. Cigar boats were blasting around us way too close, from the stern. I was even hugging the shore most of the time. Luck be with you when you need to cross the main channel. This place is spoiled kid hell.

Lake of the Ozarks is a lovely lake area to visit. Nice outlet mall. Good restaurants. Quiet when compared to Branson because the Lake of the Ozarks moves to a slower more relaxed beat. There is a new roadway so if you have been there before be prepared for quite a change. The main road is called the "Parkway" now. The outer road is a bypass. The locals say that the bypass has put some retailers out of business. Dogpatch is a retail area that has been in business for serveral years and is still intact. There is an evening musical show available that is excellent called Main Street Opry.

2014 and again in 2015, 8 out of 8 people in our group became ill during our summer trips to the Lake of the Ozarks. The DNR tests for EColi around the beaches, but does not report it until the season is about over. I wonder why? Very disturbing! By the way, we were 7 miles away from any public beach. Take one look at all of the houses on the hillsides and it will explain the cause. Septic tanks leaching right into the lake. Don't believe them when they say the geese are the problem. What a nasty lake for many other reasons.

This is a beautiful lake that has something for everyone. At the west end of the lake on the Niangua or Little Niangua there is little large boat traffic, perfect for water skiing, coving out and fishing. There are great boat accessible restaurants. Small family resorts offer the best accommodations where you are just feet from the lake with your boat just out the door. A wonderful location for a week's vacation.

Had so much fun enjoyed a good band, the food was the best yet and I loved seeing staff work hard but have fun. So far my fav out of the 7 places iv been to. My kids keep asking to return!

This area is a little hard to get to by air but very beautiful once you get there. Nice golf courses and good places to stay. I would go back. I hear it really gets going after memorial day

Friendly people, lots to see and do. Many great resorts and restaurants, even if you are not a boat owner. Great place for families to reconnect.

We normally stay on the other side of the lake but decieded to go to the park area for waterboarding. The water was much calmer on this side. Fantastic time!

Food was off the hook. Server Jake was excellent. My husband and I took mom to dinner and Jake made it such a special occasion.

Great place to visit. You can rent a place and enjoy fising from the dock. Weather is usually great for jet skiing or boating. People were kyaking and swining too. So its a lot to do and fun experience overall.

relaxe your on lake time and remember everyone is there to have fun too.this is a great lake with many personalities depending on what part your on. you must visit ha-ha Tonka if you like nature/ hiking. Each of the 5 main arms have there own personalities 98 mi of lake from truman dam to bangell dam. up stream is more calm and peaceful better sking fishing. the main chanel horse shoe bend is the main part and therefore the roughest be careful on big weekends with small boats 20ft and less. during the week it's mild and easily navigated. if you want to experience Miami on in the mid west this is where to be, awesome resturants /bar and speed boats out having fun. water quality is fine some people on here would lead you to believe otherwise I've spent half the weekends swimming in it this summer on the biggest weekends in the main party spots, 800+ mi round trip. research boat rental places well and don't cheap out you get what you pay for. but you can have allot of fun on and even more around this lake on a budget if your head. check out bangel dam strip on fri. sat. evenings but be prepared to walk. don't take your kids to part cove there are plenty of family friendly coves all over just ask at your local marina for the closet ones and you won't have to go through the rough water to get there. A couple north east of part cove is the g rated verision in watsons hallow cove with beautiful clean water nestled in another part of the state park. going south under grand glaze bridge take a left not a right. use the water taxi to go bar hoping and be safe.

We have always heard about Lake of the Ozarks and finally made it here for vacation! It's a pretty lake. It was quiet for us over spring break but I can imagine it getting wild over the summer when crowds come!

Everything on land is great, but don't go near the water. Between E Coli, 200 mph off shore racers, and huge 6' wakes you will be lucky to get out of the lake with minor injuries. On the water is no place for the family.
You will be sorry you came with Just a five minute ride in the main channel. The 60' Yachts being Captained by people that don't know boating rules, the effect of their huge wakes, or who just don't care what happens to others will make a believer out of you.
Now if you want to just party in the World Famous Party Cove, and be drenched in E Coli filled water, or swim in it come on down. Get drunk, and be somebody.

First things first. If you can’t stay at a place directly on the water and/or have access to a boat, you will miss the real fun and beauty of this area. It gets hot here (up to 100 degrees with humidity) in the summer and you’ll want to take a dip daily. Plus, despite the backwoods feel of the area, it is a beautiful lake with lush woods, hills and hundreds of spectacular homes, so you’ll want to see it all at water level.
My family has been coming here for over 20 years and despite new development and crowded waters on weekends, it is still a hidden gem equidistant to St. Louis and Kansas City. The lake was formerly the Osage River, which was dammed in the 1930s to form a 112-mile long lake with thousands of small branches that make up coves. The water is clean and warm. Floating in a life vest or inner tube in a quiet cove is a popular way to pass time and cool off. FYI: Beware of congregations of boats and floaters in coves; they often lead to obnoxious boozy parties.
Water sports rule here, originally starting with fishing and water skiing but now they include wake boarding, wave runners (Jet Skis), go-fast speedboats and inflatables towed behind boats. It’s all fun, but wake up early for smooth water before the lake gets frothed up with choppy wakes.
Fishing is good, especially with live bait. I've caught hundreds of catfish, bass, drum and panfish from both a dock and from a boat. Fish on the bottom near rocky points or under a quiet dock in the summer when the water is warm.
The water patrol cops are pretty vigilant here, so don’t drink on board a boat, wear life vests and don’t drive too close other vessels, especially those towing skiers and tubers. And don’t run around at night, even with lights. Many boaters have been killed colliding with docks boats and buoys over the years.
The lake is marked with mile markers, starting with 0 at the Bagnell Dam to the east. Businesses on the lake use the mile markers for directions. There are dozens of restaurants and bars, which can get rowdy at night, but during the day they are all family friendly. The food is generally dismal, with the usual menus of deep-fried bar food and silly tropical drinks. One exception is Ozark Barbeque. They hand-smoke all their meat daily and have been a mainstay of ours for many years. They are on the lake at the 10.5-mile marker and on Rt.54 at the dam.
Rt. 54 has all the t-shirt shops, go-karts, and major chain stores and there is an outlet mall and indoor amusement park for rainy rays.
I can’t recommend accommodations, as we’ve always stayed in family home on the lake, but as I wrote at the opening, if you’re not in a home with a dock or a resort with waterfront property (actually on the water, not hanging from a cliff), you’ll miss all the fun.
Highly recommended.

This was a morning well spent in entertainment. My youngest grandson Seth and his Mom Misty had the best time going on a parasail adventure at the Lake of the Ozarks Missouri "Bagnel Dam"
These guys that take you up were not only entertaining but they were friendly and gave so much to all their customers that we anticipate doing this again. Even though Seth was leary at first on whether or not to go up...these guys made him feel so comfortable that he couldn't resist. Then I had the pleasure of seeing Seth have one of the best times of his life. I recommend this activity highly. Go Have fun in the sun.

I grew up going to my family lake house on Lake Rathbun (Iowa) every weekend. I have seen countless sunsets over enormous lakes. I truly have never seen such a beautiful sunset over a more magnificent lake before. Definitely worth the trip!

3 family members and myself returned home to Chicago from visiting lake ozark today , stayed over the weekend Hand full of nice people , over all very racist and rude place, I’ve gotten harassed and chased from Walmart back to my cabin by a Caucasian man ! Wouldn’t recommend for any African American People To Visit , Sorry !

Every year I say I don't care if I ever go back, because our vacation has started out with problems every time we check in at Robin's Resort, since the new ownership. This year was no different, with the exception that they did fire the troublemaker, FINALLY. We arrived this year to only having one room booked, (and they were full) so we had to double up and put people with other parties in our group. I will add however, that the new girl, did do her best to satisfy our issues and is still working to prevent issues next year. We shall see.
We thought we'd go to Frankie and Louie's for Taco Tuesday. Hmmm. We had six couples in our group with adult children in each group, so we would expect no less than six checks. They would not separate our check due to our large group. WHAT? So that left us to pour thru a mile long receipt to try to tie $1 tacos and drinks to each family. PLUS the waiter would take our order and then random teens would bring out the orders having no idea what food belonged to who, handing it to anyone who would eat it, even if they weren't part of our group. When one of the people who are resident's of the Ozark's expressed their dissatisfaction with this service and said the visitors in our group would probably not return, the waiter said, "That is fine". I wonder if the owner of the establishment would appreciate that remark after receiving payment for our $350+ bill? They do have a nice gift shop and the ladies there were super friendly. It was also very reasonably priced, compared to some of the other bar/shops. Always looking for t-shirt souveniers.
We went to JB Hooks for my birthday dinner and had an EXCELLENT waitress and one of the best meals I've ever had in the Ozarks. It was truly a wonderful end to this vacation.
I do always love my trips to the Osage Beach outlet mall and some of the other shops there.
I love the new Dierberg's grocery store, feeling a little guilty for missing Hyvee this year.
Coconuts is always a fun day, but sure wish the pool was heated, with the unseasonably cool weather we had this year. I find the male bartenders more customer friendly. They have a great gift shop. Also a great area for kids with activities, if you have younger children.
The lake itself was as rough as ever on the weekend but did calm down through the week.
All in all, the Ozarks is a fun trip, our kids have grown up with this trip and have sentimental connections to it, so I suppose we will return as long as they want to go, but some of their establishments would do well to remember the reason they are there...

I had always thought that the Lake of the Ozarks was a part of Branson and Table Rock Lake! Boy was I wrong! Lake of the Ozarks is a large lake about two hours north of the Branson area. It was created when Bagnell Dam was built and covers over 50,000 acres. It is a beautiful area, with numerous restaurants, lake activities, family entertainment and an extensive outlet mall. Our large, multi-generational family of 20 enjoyed every minute of our time in the area. We spent our time kayaking on the lake, hiking, ecploring caves, shopping, lots of good food and even two escape rooms! We will definitely return to the Lake of the Ozarks area!

The lake is huge and its dotted all along with things to do and places to eat. It looks really beautiful on a clear summer day. But if you are in the area you must also visit the outlet mall...the biggest in Missouri I think....for many its the main attraction in the area!

It’s beautiful with boating, hiking, great restaurants and gift shops! The weather was beautiful and bar hopping by boat was a lot of fun!

Just Love the Ozarks
So much to do and dinning is wonderful!
Summer time activities are going on everywhere!

Who knew there were palm trees at the Lake of the Ozarks in the middle of Missouri? Coconuts Caribbean Beach Bar & Grill offers sandy beaches, a pool for 21+ with a swim-up bar, sand volleyball, open-air restaurant, and play area for the kids. Just when you thought The Lake had run out of attractions, you can enjoy this unique experience. Located approximately 6 miles down the Gravois Arm of The Lake.

I live on Grand Lake O' the Cherokee's, and it is also a beautiful lake, but there isn't much to do around the lake. While in Osage Beach, we watched the speed boat races, which my boys thought were pretty cool. We took the boys to ride go-carts, and we enjoyed several nice restaurants. We have previously visited Miner Mikes, and were able to enjoy some of the local shops. Lake of the Ozarks reminds me a little of Branson MO. We had a great time, and can't wait to get back up there to experience more of what it has to offer.

Centrally located in the heart of the Show-Me State. If you like boating, restaurants & bars right on the water (many with waterfront swimming pools and swim up bars), family activities like: Go Karts, Putt-Putt and Bumper Cars, this IS the place for you. A few hour drive from St. Louis, or Kansas City. Even closer trip if you like in Springfield or Columbia/Jefferson City.

Lots of water activity . Fun water front places to eat. Nice shopping center. Fun for the whole family. Such a pretty lake.

We go to Lake of the Ozarks every year for vacation & have a blast every time we go!!

My wife and I just got back from a wonderful trip at the Lake of the Ozarks. We have 2 toddlers so it is tough for us to get away . But with the low rates for condo rentals during the off season that I found on (--). We couldn't pass up this opportunity. We stayed in a fully furnished beautiful two bedroom condo over looking the lake. There were several nice places to eat in the area. Our favorite part was going to the Bagnell Damn Strip where there were many little shops with filled crafts that my wife loves to collect and they had several places for gaming. 10 cent ski ball is both affordable and fun! I would recommend going to the Lake of the Ozarks for a vacation to anyone. Also we plan to go back next summer and try some of the exciting water activities that the lake has to offer.

We went here for breakfast. The food was excellent and came in large proportions. The service was also great.

Our family makes a trip to Lake of the Ozarks every year. We stay in the Gravios Arm during the week, and it's quiet. The Lake certainly gets busy during the weekends, especially over holidays.
It's fun to be there on the 4th of July because everyone shoots off fireworks, but you're also listening to fireworks for hours.
There is so much to do around the lake. Caves to explore, water sports, Ha Ha Tonka SP, adventure parks, hiking, etc. We are never bored when visiting Lake of the Ozarks.

If you want to get out on a lake and take a nice boat ride this is one of Missouri's nicest most developed lakes. The sights on the lake are amazing though man made. I am talking about an uncountable number of multi-million dollar homes and big fast loud boats (many with hot woman in scant bathing suits).
The lake itself is surrounded by tree filled and rocky bluffs. On the far side of the lake is Camdenton which is supposedly "quieter". Also, Ha Ha Tonka (www.mostateparks.com/hahatonka.htm) is worth a trip.
Beware of a few vital factors... This is a very busy and rough lake in the summer - especially on weekends. You need to be in a large boat (26+ feet) otherwise you will get badly beat up. The water in the lake is not clean. There have be e-coli warnings this year. This lake has been rated one of the most dangerous in the country. Why? Because there is not a size and horsepower restriction - the water patrol is not strong or big enough - to many (sorry to say) idiots driving 50-80 mph up and down the lake in huge boats - alcohol and the pervasive party atmosphere.
On the flip side things are depressed at the lake this year which has dialed things back a good bit. If you are going on a girls or guys trip you will have a ball - especially if you like to party. On the weekdays and in the quieter times the lake is beautiful and FUN.
In terms of food at the lake it is a bit expensive and generally mediocre. You will pay $8-10 for a bar burger on the water. Many places have closed. Be prepared for strictly average cuisine. We have had many really poor meals at the lake and none I would rave about. Eating on the water or looking over the water is the draw not the food. At night it is the party.
We ate at Dog Days this weekend and both the food and service were horrible. We also went to Franky and Louie's which was fun. Both the food and service were pretty decent - 7 on a 10 point scale. My wife had two frozen drinks - and we (3 of us) ate for $55 + tip. Not cheap but not bad for a place on the water with beach front swimming (great for kids). Also they had live music. We would definitely return to Franky & Louie's with or without kids.
Beyond boating and water sports (only early and late in the day due to insane water conditions - especially on the weekends when skiing could be be life threatening) you will find golf and shopping at the outlet mall to be the two main attractions. There are indoor and outdoor water parks, putt-putt and mini golf. There are also several spas that are supposedly very nice. Be prepared to pay though - $45-60 for a pedicure.
Finally, having been to the Lake of the Ozarks and Table Rock Lake numerous times each I would say L of O is a better adult destination and Table Rock wins for families (even though Branson is one of the most tacky places ion the planet).
Happy Travels!

I had not been to the area and my husband was there years ago. We were a bit ahead of the pretty leaf change color this Fall but it was starting. We will go back next year if we can get away. We were in Osage Beach, MO and enjoyed the restaurants, sights, and shopping. For boaters, it is the best!

Poor people, alcoholics, and annoying loud boats invading my supposed to be beautiful (expensive) lake view condo balcony coffee every single 7 am. Seriously. A constant drone. Every day. It's like there's no place to enjoy peace and nature. It's all loud, drunk, stupid all the time. And they charge triple what anything is worth because it's "the lake". Just gross. They can keep that nasty, dirty, body-fluid- filled, oil slicked cancerous, polluted filth bucket, and the stupid Joe Dirt 70's/80's vibe.
This place could be so specectacularly beautiful, but no. Just take a gorgeous place of nature and toilet all over it. Just perpetuate the perpetration of generalized generational poverty and abuse all over it.
Sigh. Sad.
Sometimes the lake was quiet and the birds would have a thermal draft right above my balcony and circle for what seemed like hours.
Ducks, geese squaking was my delightful alarm clock one morning.
It would be nice to see it managed with the 45% of the population that is Introverts in mind. I mean, can't we at least SHARE the lake? Or have a clean one? Or live in this decade?

I love coming here. There is so much to do. People are friendly and it's a short drive from home. There isn't anything more relaxing that water and sunshine shared with good friends at a fun place.

We just returned from our second trip to Lake of the Ozarks, and for the second time, I am blown away at all this place has to offer. First off, the lake itself is enormous, and calling it a lake is a little strange because it's so long and narrow. There are literally hundreds of options on places to stay, most of them in the form of condos and vacation rentals. You can stay right on the lake or inland a bit if you prefer. Take your time when booking rooms, research where the towns are and if there is easy lake access from you, and if your place has a pool or 2, because they are a must!
The best time to go is late spring and early summer when the lake is nice and full. It's always busy here, but you might want to avoid spring break time, it is just a little too crazy, and maybe mid August as well, just too darn hot. We prefer the Osage Beach or Sunrise Beach areas, mainly for the crazy amount of good restaurants. Captain Ron's Sunrise Beach tops the list. It has terrific food and service, and next to it is a beach for the kids to play, and an outdoor beach bar, very cool! The water sports here are second to none. You simply will not find a better place to jet ski anywhere, and it's also the least expensive....except for spring break and 4th of July time. Weekdays are the best where you can rent a ski for 2 hours starting at $70, which is crazy cheap! You can also rent any kind of boat imaginable as well as book several tours. The wildlife here is great too, from the turtles, frogs, lightning bugs, lizards, hawks, eagles, deer, and so much more!

I must admit, I went to the Lake of the Ozarks often as a kid (70's-80's) but moved away from Missouri and heard all kinds of horror stories when I returned...too crowded, too many crazy party people, too many huge boats, too expensive etc. My first few trips were surprisingly positive.
Do those problems exist...probably on occasion. But I have been there dozens of times over the last few years and can verify that there is something for everyone there. Great shopping, restaurants and bars, bands and festivals and plenty of unspoiled nature. You need to do some homework and decide what you want but it is all there and in my opinion, much better than ever.
The big boats rule the weekends near the dam and for many miles up the lake on weekends in the summer. If you aren't lucky enough to have a 27' or larger then go out before noon or after 5 or 6 and you can still have a fantastic experience. Cove out in a pontoon or small boat and wait for things to settle down if you must. Weekdays are almost empty and boating is great up and down the lake. If you want to boat on a weekend go further up the lake. There are many parts of the lake that are state park owned. I have never found those areas crowded or having many big boats or wakes. Skiing, swimming or any other water recreation is great at anytime there.
As for the threats of unsafe water from ecoli or other reasons...I have not seen any signs of it in the time I have been going there.
Condos, hotels and resorts are plentiful and very reasonable on any budget. There's a ton to do for almost any family member from shopping to all forms of outdoor activity and the natural scenery of the Ozarks can't be beat.
I've lived many places and enjoy my time at the Lake of the Ozarks as much as any place I've been.
I don't have any interest or property at the lake but I have become a big fan!

We had the most amazing time in Lake of the ozarks. We stayed in light house landing condos and they were so beautiful and well kept I will definitely go again absolutely loved it

Quiet no crowds no lines if looking for excitement wrong place to come if looking for laid back good time this is time of year.

I’ve been going to the lake for many years and the options for dining and entertainment have grown significantly. It’s a great place for a slow vacay or one jam packed with fun in the sun. Also try going in the off-season - some things are closed but the lake is just as gorgeous. Stop in one of the Mennonite stores and taste the jams and jellies. Shop at the outlet. Do a spa day. And of course water sports are the main attraction!

We went for 4th of July weekend and had a blast. The lake is huge and has everything. Tons of shopping, restaurants, boating, parasailing, and sight seeing. They had fireworks everywhere. We are definitely going to go back this fall.

Pick up a copy of a complimentary magazine usually in businesses and information booths around Warsaw and Sedalia. This magazine has useful advise on things to do and places to rent stuff around the Lake of the Ozarks. If you are going to spend time at the lake--grab a copy of this magazine.

This is probably one of the most beautiful lakes we have been to in the central US. We came during the shootout and had a blast. The lake is clear and deep, even though prior to our arrival they had monsoon rains and there was some debri, we never experienced any problem with our 22' boat. The lake can get choppy from the other large boats, but take it easy and you'll do fine.
Loads of multi-million homes and resorts dot the shoreline and bluffs as well as mega yachts and power boats. So nice to admire and wish alot! The lakeside bars and restaurants are plentiful with specials every night. We visited several of them and they each have their own ambiance. Be sure and visit the Willmore Lodge for a stunning view and history of the area.
The roads around the lake are easy to navigate and new and there is shopping and activities everywhere, so be sure and bring your pocketbook! Lodging varies from the small mom and pop hideaways to the mega condo resorts. We stayed at Sunset Beach Resort $125 for 2 bedroom, quiet, quaint and right across the cove from Backwater Jacks. We had a good time just people and boat watching!
Great place for a family vacation or for the party animal...amusement opportunities abound here!

I and 4 of my friends went to the lake on the 4th of July weekend. We all love the lake and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice getaway, however; when choosing a place to rent a boat - be very careful! We called and reserved a boat through Adventure Boat Rentals 2 weeks in advance. When we got there the owner said that he didn't have our boat and lied to us about what he had in the books (we were clearly marked down for a deck boat and he had us down for a pontoon). When we tried to negotiate another boat the owner, Bill, told us that he didn’t have time to deal with us and turned his back. I was in shock, as were my friends. Please keep this in mind when renting a boat through this company. We weren't the only customers there that this happened to.

On the water sure, but IN the water? No I wouldn't recommend it.
I've lived at the lake for almost a decade & have been coming here on and off for twice as long and u don't need an ecoli test result to tell you how gross & disgusting the lake water is...all u need to do is smell your swimsuit & or sandals after you've worn them in the water.
Even the towel you dry off with will smell totally funky! 'Nuff said.

We go for a week every July. This is an awesome place to boat. The lake is surrounded by condos, and they are cheaper than condos at other vacation spots. We bring our family and our boat. The boating is great, the fishing is great, and the water is the perfect temp in July. If your hungry, or want a drink, there are bars and restaurants all over the lake that have easy docks to pull your boat in. Most have a nice young lady to help you tie your boat up. If you are there on a Saturday, go to party cove for lunch and eat at the Indian fry bread taco boat! His tacos are huge and awesome.

I've been going to Lake of the Ozarks for over 40 years, and the dam area has changed a LOT in even the last couple of decades. It used to be a fun place, even family oriented. There were tons of shops, go-karts, mini-golf and lots of things to do and see. Now....it's pretty much all bars along the strip & a lot of buildings from when I was younger, have been torn down.
I'm glad to see places like Dogpatch & Leatherman are still up & running after all these years. If a new place opens up along the strip, within a year or two, its closed up. The lake & area are a neat place to see & visit, just sucks it has lost it's nostalgia and fun for adults/families. If you have a boat or like to drink, it's the perfect place, or if you simply enjoy spending time at a resort.
Would I recommed seeing the dam & surrounding area....of course. Just hard to forget how it used to be, and when you could look out across the lake and see mostly forest instead of expensive homes/condos. Time, technology and big box stores takes its toll once again..

Lake of ozarks is one such place to get away.so much to do. We went there on labor day weekend, and did parasailing and jet skiing. we had only half a day to spend there and we headed to Branson.
It was our first experience doing parasailing and jetski . Very good place. we reached there around 10am which was the correct time coz it wasnt much crowded. Exspecially for jet-ski, The lake had less traffic, so had great fun.
parasailing is around $70- $90 per head and $25 for extra for pictures in memory card taken by them. Its worth it. It took us around 3-4 miles in air and with 2 dips in water for $85, It was awesome. The crew was sooooo funny and friendly. Its very safe and secure too. we had so much fun
Jetski was around $40 for half an hour. we didnt know how to ride 'em, but they taught us and let me say, its easy to ride a jetski. so, to those who dont knw, dnt worry. and its safe too.
These places has places to store your stuff, so camera, phone or even purse can be handed over to them. No worries

This huge winding lake is just breath taking. Scenery, wildlife, fishing, camping. All kinds of stuff to do around the area.

The weekend after Labor day we planned a trip to lake Ozark. I spoke directly to the owner of Adventure Boat Rentals in advance. I needed help with the best places to stay and he was very knowledgeable. On the day we arrived to pick up the boat, Bill took us out into the cove and showed us all that we needed to know regarding the running of the boat and then he also mapped out the best swimming areas and even gave some options on where we might want to do lunch. The was like brand new and in great shape, ran well and was perfect for our day. We would definitely rent from Adventure every single time we get a chance!

My in-laws have had a lake house on LOTO for decades. I began going on a yearly vacation with them a few years ago. I'm an avid boater (live on Discovery Bay in California, I have waverunners, a Duffy boat, a runabout boat, and a 48' cruiser). When I read some of these negative reviews, what I see is (A) people who may not be the best boat captains in the world, (B) people who do not understand the popularity of the lake and the activity level on the weekends, and (C) people who have not been to enough other boating waterways to compare. What I can tell you is yes, the weekends are VERY busy and yes the water gets very, very rough. I do not try to go anywhere on a jetski or small runabout on the weekends. We would and we do routinely go out on the weekends on a 24' tritoon, and it handles the chop and large wakes superbly. If you go out and rent some cheap junk pontoon, do not expect the same capability, and just forget a small runabout altogether. On the weekdays, it is much less crowded and you can get around just fine on about any type of watercraft. It is a huge lake that you can spend years navigating and exploring on. Some of the shoreline resorts and restaurants are outstanding. It is called a lake but honestly it is a 100 mile long waterway shaped like a river that is wide, and extremely deep, so the water is very clear. We enjoy it so much that we are now contemplating buying a retirement property there. If you're looking for a place to take your family for a weekend on the water, perhaps this is not for you. But to trash the lake as a whole after one experience is, in my opinion, extremely unfair.

We were in St Louis for wedding so we rented a condo at the Lake of the Ozarks not far from Osage Beach. Some wrote about the funky water and E-coli. The lake water was very warm so you will always have that problem. What bothered me was the color it was brown. We went to sunrise beach and a restaurant call Franky and Louie's. The Resturant was outside with bar and swimming area along with a RV park and marina. It was packed and they had warning signs about biker colors being worn.We live at the Jersey shore,I have never seen that before. The lake itself Is beautiful and night quite peaceful.
I can see where the weekends could be out of control and bit dangerous with all the high speed boats. Again, living in NY metro area, I was not all impressed with the food and actually had some stomach issues after eating at one of the so called better restaurants. This was trip was a lark, but I doubt I will be back again.

A good vacation spot to spend on adventure, trekking, water sports, fishing etc. We spent 2 days and it was worth it.

This is a great place that all the family will find appealing. If you like boating, riding wave-runners, swimming, fishing, and partying or just relaxing....you will love this beautiful place. My family loves it for the nature as well as boating with friends. We are blessed and have a home there and we enjoy this 100 miles of shoreline lake. From Warsaw to the Bagnel Dam you will find everything that you could desire to do on a vacation. Bagnel has rides, water slides, every activity a kid could hope for. You will enjoy the many great places and resorts to choose from. Hope you all have a great time. Don't ever rule Missouri out we have some fantastic places too see and visit.

I have lived in the lake of the Ozarks my whole life and its awesome! You can get condos, houses, and stay at resorts that are right on the water! People write bad reviews because of one place here, they just haven't seen all of the lake. Maybe there are accidents and everything but thats normally live in the lake of the Ozarks or big cities in general. And it might not be the safest to go out on the water but in some areas it is. I would check out Lake of the Ozarks if I were you, you'll have a blast!

We get to Lake of the Ozarks every couple of years and the sheer size of the lake always seems to take my breath away. the lake is literally 90+ miles long with some amazing scenery. The lake has a large variety of great places to venture out to. Some you can have a minnow shot others have excellent food. The lake is really two different lakes at times. One the weekends people from both KC and St. Louis make the trek to the lake to and sometimes getting across the cove in your boat can seem like a daunting task. During the week is my favorite time to be at the lake. It is like a totally different place it takes on a feeling of serenity when the crowds go home. There are great resorts, food, shopping and a number of great golf courses. Plan to go to the lake once you go you will be hooked!

If your looking for a quiet cove to kick back in and enjoy some time with friends or if you want to get out, kick up your heels and have a great meal and a really awesome time with friends then the Lake of the Ozarks is the place to go. You can enjoy as much or little of all the previously mentioned activities all summer long.

We came here for a few days we had off while we were in MO. Lots to do. It’s a major tourist trap. Great place to vacation with the family.

The campsite was very nice and there was spots to fish and boat. The lake bay area was clear and swimable. There was a lot of tourist information and the Dam was amazing and how it was built/ why it was built. Campsites in August are empty so you have plenty of time to reserve or walk on. I biked the roads there although hilly and not much road room, it was very nice. BRING A MOUNTAIN BIKE!

Great place for a couples get away, if you like boating, water sports, golf, shopping or just a relaxing time this area is for you.
Accommodation abound with locations close to the lake and in nearby towns which surround the lake.
See you there

We've just spent two blissful weeks on the lakes enjoying good food, fishing, water sports and the warm waters!

The bikers have arrived at Bagnell Dam, Lake of the Ozarks. I have never seen so many kinds of motorcycles at one time. It is quite an interesting sight to see. They are all parked in the center of The Strip where all the shops and restaurants are located. It is right by the dam. The overlook near the dam is worth a visit. One gets a very good view of the lake. Try to get there before sun set. Continue on that road and you will get to the back of the dam. If you wish to shop, the outlet mall at Osage Beach is not too far away. There are 3 levels of shops and you can shop till you drop.

Lake of the Ozarks is awesome. People posting obviously don't know how to go boating!!! We come here all the time. Great restaurants all over the lake. Shopping outlet mall! All round beautiful lake.

This lake has thousands of miles of shore line, great food, outlet malls and so much more. A great place for boating, fishing and all things water. The water is nice and the lake in most parts is deep. Just below the dam is great fishing or just walk across the dam and look down at the many monster fish. The Ozarks is just a great place for summer and lake fun.

For the ones that had a bad experience, sorry! If you decide to vacay here again I suggest you get a Visitors guide and a map of the lake. There are many places to go swimming, skiing, tubing,ect... The Ecoli some have mentioned are only on a few coves that have little activity with no water movement so watch what your saying before you know the facts. Your experience on the boats being so dangerous, find a place in this 1500sq mile shoreline lake to boat, stay away from the main channel were all the activity is. Many this to do especially during tourist season when all the events are going on. Every weekend there is something to do on and off the water. But please think before you post about your bad experience because you are not familiar with how things really operate here. There is beauty, friendly locals willing to help and great boating if you know where to go! We are a seasonal community providing our time and energy for our tourist to have a great time! Please don't take the bad reviews into account when planning your vacation. I live here and know the facts! Funlake.com will give you all the events that are happening. Come, enjoy, and be mindful of the locals that put all the hard work in for vacationers.

Love this place. We go once a year with our friend who owns a condo in the St. Moritz condo's. Best time ever every year! We loved it so much that we took our family there for a family vacation instead of going to Mexico! We used a wave runner, ate many wonderful things at Wobbly Boots. Did not find a restaurant we didn't like. Loved the things we would never normally see on our friend fun weekends, saw the Bridal cave, loved it... went to the haha tonka park and saw the lovely mansion took the 317 steps down to the water, it was amazing, best hike in a long time well worth it!

So tired of spending $$$ on overpriced crappy food in this town. Doesn't seem to matter what level the establishment is, the food is almost always crap. I've never thrown away so much food so many times cause it was inedible anywhere else Ive ever lived. It's gotten much worse over the past 5 or 6 years & there is no reason to expect any change.

We have a saying here...Tis' a privilege to live in The Ozarks!
What ever type of vacation you are looking for you can find here.
Retro picture-perfect postcard beauty in a cozy knotty pine cabin with the lake just a few feet away? And a small fishing boat to witness the quiet pink dawn while watching our Missouri Dolphins (Spoonbills) breach and take your breath away.
Come to the quiet end of the lake where there is little boat traffic, the fishing is OUTSTANDING and you can safely teach your babies to ski and tube.
Then watch the nightly fireworks displays while drowsing on your deck or laying on the dock with the comforting scent of Noxzema on your nose, anticipating another adventure in the day to come.
Or maybe you are looking for an exciting nightlife after a day of tying up in Party Cove, where getting nekked, swigging from a jug and the folks do things that frighten fish!
How about an elegant resort, sleeping late, room service and a day at a Spa? Then a little shopping, a gourmet candlelit dinner and a romantic evening cruise?
There are so many natural wonders here to explore and the people are really nice, willing to help and share their knowledge of the homeland they love.

It was okay for my first time because I never camped or "Glamped" before & my guest were not used to the outdoors in a way that I'm familiar with so I took that for granted!

It's always relaxing going down and lounging on the dock all weekend. Yes, the boating can be a little much on the weekends-especially holidays but that is to be expected. The outlet mall is always a nice visit.

Easily on of my favorite lakes to visit during the summer months. It is a huge lake with a lot of different little coves to go in and out of. Party Cove can get VERY crazy as well. Also many different lake side restaurant and bars to try with amazing night life. The water can get a little rough if your in a small boat, so my suggestion would be to find someone with a big boat to take you around for a smoother ride.

We spent two wonderful days golfing at the Cove and Ridge golf courses. They are very well maintained. Recommend visiting during the week to miss all of the crowds.

The Lake of the Ozarks is a surprise to many with 91 miles of main channel water way and over 1100 miles of shoreline - more shoreline than the state of CA. It is an amazing vacation spot with great food and warm water - and reasonable prices. a top spot in the midwest and well worth a trip form either coast - especially for one of the specula events like the Shootout week or the lake races - but when ever you come stay on the water - that is what it is all about

There are many things to do around Lake of The Ozarks in the summer - from May to September there is boating, hiking, bar hopping by water and land, live music venues around the lake, Aquapalooza, The Shoot-Out, poker runs, etc.

I have read mixed reviews about issues with the Lake, and as one of the largest recreational lakes in America you simply need to know what part of the Lake to experience. There is definitely an area of what we call "ocean water" that is so rough on the weekends (especially holidays) it is not enjoyable. But during the week it is fairly typical of other recreational lakes. Stay and boat above the 40mm and the water is not near as bad. Of course most of the better known water accessible restaurants are located in the high-traffic areas. But there are some great gems-in-the-rough up the 'river'. Fishing is a definite activity more successful towards the 50-60mm and above. As for me and my family, we can't get enough of Lake of the Ozarks, and spend a lot of quality time here each and every year.

We rented a Condo on the Lake and had a great time. We swam in the pool provided at the condo, went to the strip to play skeeball and go-karts, dined out one evening at a local restaurant by the Lake, and shopped at the outlet mall. A great time with 6 adults and 7 young children! Lots to do in the Ozarks for young families.

Beautiful water and great food by the lake! Of course don't drink and swim and you will be fine ! Boat rides are fun! The boardwalk is a bit deserted but there is also a brand new movie theater a few miles away !

Although it was very hot and humid it was a great couple of days we spent at the Ozarks!
It’s a very beautiful place with lots of places to visit! Stark Caverns was really nice, was great to get out of the heat for a while.
Adult only swim up bars are nice.
10/10 I’m going back there!

Our crew had the BEST time in Lake of the Ozarks, MO! We were impressed by the variety of activities offered including the Bridal Caves, Ha Ha Tonka State Park, wakeboarding, and fishing. We started our trip with a small airplane ride provided by Airlake Aviation over the lake which provided an incredible perspective of the area. We enjoyed most of our meals at restaurants either on the beachfront or overlooking the water. We will definitely go back again!

I first came to the Lake of the Ozarks as a teenager, and couldn't wait to return to the boating and skiing in its warm summer water. The year after my husband and I married I brought him to the lake for his first visit: we came home with a boat and a reservation to return the next year. We vacationed here with our family every year, and now that we have retired here they come to the lake with their families.

We have a condo at the Lake and really enjoy visiting during all seasons. My only complaint is the big OCEAN cruisers and shore racers in the Lake. These crafts should be in the ocean. We own a pontoon boat and almost were taken under by the waves of these OCEAN cruisers. They do lake respect for other boats. This lake was made for smaller boats and pontoons. It has gotten to be where our family can only take our pontoon boat out during the week and not on the week-ends due to the presence of these big crafts.

My husband and I spend at least one to two weekends a month in the Ozarks. We love it! We enjoy the scenery, the restaurants, the cleanliness of the lake, the shopping, and the beautiful boats on the water. The only downfall is that over the past 10-15 years, the boats have gotten so big that it makes the Lake extremely rough. We enjoy boating in the statepark around mile markers 22 and up. Makes for a nice day to jump in the lake! :-)

Loved my visit to the lake with my family for a holiday weekend. It was so beautiful. A great lake for boating fun! I am looking forward to another trip there already...maybe next summer. :)

At the lake the first weekend in August we called Bikini Pier to rent a pontoon. Our driver is an experienced lake boater and specifically asked whether the boat was sea worthy for the craziness of the lake on a weekend. They told us it would do fine. The boat was DANGEROUS. In waves, a constant state on the lake, the front would completely submerge and swap the boat. We all had to sit on the back seat and we were unable to pull our tube. We returned 3 hours early, which would have been sooner if we hadn’t had to crawl back hugging the shoreline. When we complained we were fed stock lines like; they had to rent these boats because they couldn't afford new ones, we should expect swapping in the waves, and no one else has ever complained. What a fearful day with my kids on board and a huge $350 hit to my wallet.

Although some people may disagree, to me this is the dream vacation spot. The water is free of any dangerous animals meaning you can basically jump in whenever you want. (just not in the main channel.) there are plenty of things to do on the water or in the nearby city. This includes shopping centers, arcades, go karts, boat races, tubing, wakeboarding, anything of the sort. The people are extremely friendly, prices are fairly cheap, and most places are kid friendly. (except bars lol.) Houses and condos are SO nice. I've been there about 6 times for 2 months at a time and have never had a bad experience. The WORST thing I've ever experienced there was a couple annoying horseflies that come out late June. The views are to die for, the energy is truly life changing. Everything negative in my life is left at home when I take a trip there. I go with my family, a lot of people. 6 yr old brother, teen sister and cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents up to 65 yrs old and every one of us have an undying love do the Lake. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Do not second guess the Lake!!

I find The Lake of Ozarks to be down right disgusting. This place has become so commercialized & frankly very tacky. People go there to get naked and party and pee & vomit in the water. It is classless & honestly white trashy anymore. Will not be going back!

We had a blast! There's a ton of stuff to do! We rented a boat for the weekend and the whole family enjoyed it! I recommend renting one of the houses on the water we rented one in a cove and it was nice and quite the water was calm the kids could fish and swim without worrying about all the boats but yet just a short boat ride to all the action as well! We definitely wanna go back!

The sandwiches, Italian dishes, garlic cheese bread, and pizzas are one of a kind. We bring our kids and everyone that visits us to Phat Sal’s. Haven’t had a bad dish yet. Everything is delicious!

For those of us who live in Missouri, we're proud of this scenic treasure that attracts thousands of tourists, conferences, and events each year. When I attend conferences in the area, I enjoy the scenic beauty everywhere and sometimes I go with friends to the state park located in Osage Beach for just a fun outing to relax, take pictures, and converse. Most lakeside resort areas give you incredible views straight from your room or cabin window, or you can venture outdoors and enjoy the scenery around you. Marinas are often just a few steps or a drive away, and there are plenty of water attractions and lakeside businesses ready to show you where all the outdoor action is. Shoppers and souvenir hunters will be pleased to find handcrafted wooden items and other local artisan fare. I also like the fact that I'm never too far from other activities that I want to enjoy, such as shopping at Osage Beach's outlet mall or visiting landmarks such as Bagnell Dam. Other nearby communities offer local attractions and great restaurants; here, you'll find a unique combination of local eateries and franchise favorites. And you might even find a reasonable walleye or catfish dinner or a dessert made with locally-grown seasonal fruit on the menu. If you want to experience some of the best of what Missouri has to offer its visitors, then come to Lake of the Ozarks and be prepared to return.

Two and a half years ago, while living full time in a 40ft motorhome, traveling from state to state, learning about the history, people and natural wonders in this great country,we came upon the Lake of the Ozarks. After a short stay we realized this was where we wanted to call home. This great recreational lake is a combination of wonderful, friendly people, a lake spanning more shoreline than the state of California, great fishing and water sports. Diverse restaurants, hotels and resorts. We decided this is where we wanted to drop anchor.
This is a family friendly region. So much fun for all. This is truly the number one recreational lake of the USA.

my favorite part of visiting The Lake, as it is called, is the lush trees surrounding vibrant waters - a view you can see from any road at many times on your way to your destination or port of call...i suggest if you are visiting for the 1st time that you prepare for any weather, particularly hot and sunny, with appropriate clothing and hats/eyewear (and check the coverage of your cellphone - many hills/valleys)...pic enclosed is a bonfire in my sisters front yard we lit in memory of my baby bro who we were there to intern on the grounds of The St.Patricks Chapel, a Nationally Registered bldg. in the O road cemetery near Laurie MO.

There are lots of venues for children and adults. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools, trampoline and horseback riding, arcades, pizza, ice cream, beer, wine, home decor, boats, fine dining, and music.

We had a huge family vacation in the city of Osage Beach at the Lake of the Ozarks. We rented a huge house right on the lake that slept 48 people in beds. Not much to do in town, but easy access to groceries, adult beverages and souvenirs. It's very hot & humid, but still lots of fun. We rented the house during the week so it was fairly quiet on the lake.

I have been coming to the Lake of the Ozarks for years. One thing I noticed about some of the reviews are about such a small area of the Lake of the Ozarks.
What you need to understand is the Lake of the Ozarks is a long lake, nearly 80 miles. Parts of it near Osage Beach have huge wakes in the summer. This is the most crowded part of the lake and occasionally on super warm summers there is a swim advisory near party cove. If you want to relax on the lake you simply should avoid this area. If you want to party then get on a big boat and enjoy.
The rest north part of the lake, Mile Marker 30 and up is very chill. There are still restaurants, bars and places you can go, but the water isn't as choppy and smaller boats are fine. We spend most of our time in the 45 - 55 mile marker range and you can water ski on holiday weekends in the morning because the water is so smooth.
I have been on the water a lot and although it isn't a pristine lake, it is a fun lake with plenty to do.
Bottom line: Rating an entire lake based on one experience isn't fair. It would be like saying NYC sucks because you spent all your time in traffic.

I went there twice, and I would say it's a okay place. There are good water sports activity and the prices are well, not very cheap but quite okay. We loved parasailing and jet skiing there. I am not a fan of sun so hated it as it was so hot. I would recommend to go there with lots of friends as not so much to do alone. There was a go cart but we did not try it. The public beach is so tiny that we thought it's not the one we are looking fir the first time we went there. We were still looking for the beach and then one local friendly guy pointed us out that it's the one that you guys are looking for. There are plenty of bbq spots and next time we are going we will do that. Happy vacation mates!

Unfortunately this is what happens when you have a private lake. Everyone has a dock and a seawall and a lot of Scarabs on the water. Waves are pretty big and I didn't feel very safe in the water except in a few places. The water was not very clear and I got a UTI after swimming in this lake in the past. I guess it is a pretty good party lake, but not for me.

Having never been to Lake of the Ozarks, I was thoroughly impressed with the area - the quality of the accommodations, the food, the local attractions and so much more. I stayed in three different places - Alhonna Resort, Old Kinderhook and Rainbow Shore Resort. All three were top notch in their own special ways. I will write reviews for each of them so please be sure to check them out. The caves we visited were outstanding - the Bridal Cave and the Ozark Caverns. Completely different experiences and worth every penny. Boating and fishing on the lake was fun. We caught bass to 6 pounds and boated around the lake on a pontoon. What a water resource! Some of the best places that we ate included the Trophy Room (at Old Kinderhook); Bobbers (at Alhonna); Lil' Rizzo's (both locations) and Stewart's for an absolutely amazing breakfast (twice). The state parks were amazing; out of the way attractions like the Swinging Bridges of Brumley were unique; and some of the vistas were inspiring. Wineries were great, too. What a trip! We hope to return sometime in the future.

There are so many places to go on this lake, it's impossible to hit them all in a weekend! That's why it keeps everyone coming back for more. The water could be much cleaner, yes, but the lake is so developed residentially and commercially, it will just remain the same. The Lake of the Ozarks is all about having fun!

It actually isn't a reunion. It was yearly thing our mother started doing and we all decided to keep it going. Each year someone decides to join us. The children enjoy meetting their family they haven't seen or met. They enjoyed the swimming while we enjoyed the sunset and the wild birds that would land. Even had a duck walk behind me I wanted to do the AFLAK dance. It was a terrific time to visit without interruption from phones and work. The last night that we are there we have a family picnic. The guys would have a cook off by cooking the meat. While the women have the sides cooked and help the children have a good tiem.

This is a great place. Lots to do and beautiful sights to see. I really loved the shopping. Found some unique and useful items.

This is a 79,000 acre unbelievably expansive lake that you can't possibly explore in one vacation. There are multiple events every week of the season (spring/summer/fall) including dozens of fishing tournaments, car shows, Expos, and some pretty awesome boat races featuring boats that cost $1,000,000+. We get our information about what's going on through Lakeexpo.com. We have many awesome resorts, hotels, camp grounds, parks and attractions. There are a lot of great restaurants, all kinds of cuisine and we have parasailing, boat and kayak rentals. AND we're not far from rivers if you want to do some canoeing!

Great Food
Alyssa took care of us. Great waitress, perfect atmosphere. Love the lake view. Enjoyed ourselves

What a beautiful visit! The people were very helpful the atmosphere was fun and family oriented and the lake was beautiful! We were there on a Saturday so it was filled with lots of people and they were also having the boat races there. Lots of fun and a very beautiful lake. It was a beautiful adventure!
I'm not exaggerating! Lake of the Ozarks is so big (1300 miles of shoreline) that if you like lots of activity you can go to the Bagnell Dam Strip area, or if you want a quiet fishing spot, you can go roughly 40 miles upstream to the "quiet side" of the lake. Either way, you'll pass by excellent restaurants, premier outlet shopping, and recreational opportunities (fishing, hiking, camping, water skiing, boating, etc. etc. etc.) Located on US Hwy 54 in Central Missouri, it's 2. 5 hours from St. Louis or Kansas City. Well worth the trip!
