We celebrated my daughter 17th birthday here with a small picnic and huge views. She wanted to take lots of beautiful pictures of scenery and herself. This was a great place we spent the whole day. It was so beautiful.

What a wonderful view of the NY skyline from here. This park is huge and so many places that you can have your own picnic (bring your food from home). Paid parking is plenty.
I recommend coming in the evening to get the view of the Skyline. Attached is the Liberty Science Center if you are interested. Lots of tracks for jogging and walking.

we did not see the whole park, it is very large, but driving thru it to get to the ferry terminal, it looked really nice. places to park, play grounds, views of NYC, right on the water, bathrooms. there was a marina w/restaurants and a beer garden type place there also, but we did not go there. we were only there to go on the ferry to ellis island and statue of liberty. but i would like to go there again to just enjoy the park itself. it is free. plenty of parking, plenty of bike paths, walking paths.

Liberty State Park is a sprawling state park along the Hudson River (I think) with great views of Manhattan, the back of Statue of Liberty, and great open spaces for picnics, walks, etc. Parking is difficult (we got there around 4pm on Sunday), but if you're patient and keep going along the road there were several parking lots.

It's a beautiful park to hike, take a stroll, or have a picnic. The views to New York City are fantastic and you get to see the backside of the Statue of Liberty.

Liberty State Park is a great place to make childhood memories and snap money shots of Lower Manhattan. Last I remember, ferry parking is $7.00, but park parking is no charge.

Visited Liberty State park along with my family. This is a beautiful park on the banks of the Hudson River and this overlooks the magnificent skyline of New York. It also has the pier from where one can take a boat to visit the Statue of Liberty

Food cafeteria There were 6 windows and one line. No one around to let anyone know they could go to the next free window to order. I finally explained to those around me in line after the line did not move. No one at the other windows cared to tell anyone either.
It took more than an hour to get our simple burger and then eat. A big unorganized event. Walking around I found the park people inside Ellis Island hard to find and ask questions. Finally found one way in the back of the records department where she was hidden from most of the people seeking help.

One of the largest parks around is a great place for bike riding, jogging, picnics and more. Plus great views of the statue of liberty and all of downtown. Plus the wildlife is getting more and more exciting. There are even seals now living near the park.

Took a walk thru the park. On our way to visit the Statue of Liberty. Interesting buildings to look and along the harbor for boat watching too.

If you and your family are traveling by car and you want to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, this is the best spot! Plenty of parking spaces. Lines to the ferry is not overcrowded and the view of New York City Skyline is breathtaking! Skip the long lines at Battery Park and just drive to Jersey City and to here. There are plenty of paid parking spaces but if you o further towards the Ferry terminal, parking is free and closer to the Empty Sky Memorial.

We drove all over the place trying to find the landing area for the ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. It does not look much like a park once inside it as there is a lot of industrial buildings etc. Very poor marking of directions of the reason most people go there- to take the ferry to Ellis Island/ Statue of Liberty! We managed to find it by asking a lot of people. We had "will call" tickets for the ferry. I reccomend this. There was a line, but it was not long of a wait.
Of course, great views of NYC are to be had from this area.
There are food and drinks available on the ferry at fairly reasonable prices.

Had time to kill before our cruise to the islands so walked around the old train terminal, got lots of pics of the city and tried to stay out of the way of the crew filming a movie or tv show or whatever. Lots of police officers, few guarding the set. Make sure you park here and don't follow google maps directions to the science center.

Just a sunset walk while watching traffic slow down on the Hudson River revives your mind. The warm colors of orange and pale pink reflected on Lower Manhattan never gets old!

Visited liberty state park to watch the sunset based on reviews that LSP is one of the best places to catch the sunset in NJ.
There is a huge walking trail and depending on the weather and winds , one can spend anywhere between 1 -3 hours in winter /non summer season
Note -if your travelling by uber or lyft , you need to enter the address as ' Liberty state park parking lot '. Entering anything else as the destination in the uber or lyft parking lot will take you to another place .
I disnt see any places to eat / drink .
Ensure you have adequate phone battery and a tax or car to head back. Minimum 30 min walk to nearest PATH station.

On a whim we decided to visit this park on our visit to Jersey City December 28th. It was a freezing day, but we bundled up. The park is really nice, the bathrooms were clean. The view of the Statue of Liberty was great. The wind was fierce this day so we didn't stay long. We hope to come back in the spring!

Liberty State Park is #1 place I'll show to my friends. Waterfront, Empty Sky 911 Memorial, Flag Plaza, I'll explore more when entertaining my friends.

its a nice place to spend a weekend with your family and friends. Take a walk, boat or do barbecue. One can spend easily 4 hours or more.

Great place for a bike ride and watch the sunrise. It’s amazing how quiet and peaceful the Hudson River is pre-dawn.

Recently went to Jersey City for my 50th College reunion. Since we arrived early we had a little bit of time to drive over to Liberty Park which did not exist when I went to college. It was fairly easy to find as the signs were posted along the main roads until just before we got there when I guess it figured that we knew where we were going but we went the wrong way anyhow. There was ample parking and clean bathrooms or us when we arrive if we needed them. We walked out to the memorial and then out to the boardwalk along the river. The boardwalk is fairly long with time constraints kept us from going very far. The view from the river Boardwalk was very good except for the fact that of course the Statue of Liberty faces New York even though it's in New Jersey! Having never been there before though it was a site to see and of course the ferry was just down the road if we wanted to go out to the Statue but again time constraints prevent us from doing so. I recommend it as a afternoon stop if you're in Jersey City and have never been there. It's a nice place.

I was suggested to enjoy heading to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty from New Jersey leaving from this park instead of Battery Park in Manhattan, however I have to say I found the place very disappointing… A long walk from the train station with nothing around to see if not cars driving by. Possibly on a hot summer day it can gain some appeal, but there was nothing there when I visited: it was just a big field with run down facilities close to the ferry terminal taking you to the Statue of Liberty. Views on Manhattan are incredible from the boat in itself so really not worth coming to this park particularly if you are heading to Ellis Island. The only potential benefit was possible less queues than from Battery Park, however I would not do it again

You forget how beautiful the statue is. It’s so worth going to the park and being up close and seeing “her” again.

Honestly I wasn't expecting much here after a nearby trip to NYC but I was very pleasantly surprised! What a lovely park!
There is plenty of space for you to run, play sports, bring your kids to run around, and more. It is VERY family friendly, as it features various play structures and slides. Plenty of benches to take a break on. Photo worthy skylines. The perfect spot to relax and soak in the sun.
There is plenty of free parking in the area, too.

Many tourists overlook this place, but it offers tremendous views of Manhattan, and it won’t cost you a penny as you stroll around. Well worth seeking out.

Very nice and well maintained. Very spacious and nice views . Lot of space for barbeques and for children play area

Parking is $7 for all day but they have a free parking lot just past the pay to park lot that’s a 2 hour limit. You should reserve online a few days in advance if you want to go in the crown of the Statue of Liberty or they sell out. You can just show up and take the regular tour to Ellis Island and the Statue and pay the same rate and not really wait long. It’s $18.50 for adults and I believe $9 for kids and under 3 free. This park is easy to get to. The tour stops off at Ellis island and you can leave every 35 min. Gift shops and snack bars are available at the stops.

This is a beautiful part with lots of areas to lay down, and enjoy the shade, or walk alone boardwalks and bridges. It is also home to the 911 monument. Definitely need to walk through it, and experience it. It also offers easy access to the ferry to the islands. Beautiful place to enjoy an afternoon.

New Jersey has been thrilled to have this park. So close to NYC. You can view all the fire works in the summer. People jog, run, paint, picnic and fly kites. It is very clean, with ample parking. Large enough to accommodate big crowds. Many restaurants in the area as well.

Perfect, peaceful place to relax while we waited for family's plane to arrive at Newark. We were able to sit and reconnect.

The park is highly recommended for those looking for a larger and more beautiful view of the NYC skyline. In my opinion it is a delight to walk along that path accompanied by the beautiful view of that incredible city....
Additional for those who have pets...they can take them to enjoy in the area indicated for it.

From the park, you can only see the back of the Statue of Liberty. However, it is a great place to take the ferry to the Statue because it’s less busy than the New York side. Parking for the ferry cost 7 dollars a day, but parking for the park is free (but it does get full quite fast). Also a nice place to see New York’s skyline!

Great place for everyone, nice play ground for kids, good for scooters and bikes too, and beautiful place to hang around (so romantic when sunset) , you can see the back of liberty statue and Down town Manhattan, should be a must seen place for everyone

We really enjoyed this park. Great views of New York, without the large crowds. Nice walking/bike path.

During a recent road trip, my wife and I made a detour to visit this park, and it exceeded all expectations. The views of New York and the Statue of Liberty were amazing, as well as all of the plaques in the area with lessons on the history of this area. The areas set aside for picnicking and play blend well with the land conservation efforts of the state.

A very pleasant, easily accessible park with great views of Manhattan and the harbor. There is a ferry to Manhattan that costs $7 each way to the World Trade Center. There is a science museum on the property.

We were only visiting the Jersey City area for a couple of days prior to our cruise out of Bayonne. We stayed at the Doubletree in Jersey City and found that this was one of the many close by attractions we were able to access quite easily from where we were staying. We spent some time walking around this park, it was quite an enjoyable experience between our visit to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, and was the point of where we took the ferry to those sites as well.

Visited both at night and again during the day. The nighttime view is especially impressive. Just note that the park closes at 10:00 pm.

Just in front of buttery Park to see the liberty tower and the other icons of Manhattan skyscrapers. Between the sky and the mirrors the monument at the 9/11.

The views and sights you can take in at this park are surreal. Lower Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Empty Sky Memorial…so glad we went.

What a treat coming to Liberty State Park. The views of NYC are awesome. We walked for miles and never left the park. Great photo op’s too. We walked our pup along the boardwalk in the pouring rain. Great time!
Helpful? Please let me know and enjoy Liberty State Park!

Great place to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
For some reason, I didn't realize the Statue of Liberty was in between New York city and New Jersey. We were planning on being in the area for another event and looking what we could do in our free time. We discovered the Statue of Liberty was in viewing distance of the New Jersey shore, in fact very close.
I expected a sort of roadside type of park and an area with a view of the Statue of Liberty. Was I surprised! New Jersey has a very spacious state park just behind the statue.
The park was not just a viewing area. It had a nice visitor center (with restrooms), a picnic/family friendly area complete with grills, and very spacious grounds that included a nice WWII memorial.
We did not make it, but there is a walkway to a science center and ferries that run to both Liberty Island and Ellis Island.
We did make it to the nature center just down the road from the viewing area. It was also very nice, with both outdoor and indoor displays of the natural side of things related to the area.
Kudos to the New Jersey State Park Service for such a nice facility.

My mum and I wanted to find the Liberation Holocaust Memorial. It was our first day in New York on a trip we planned to celebrate her upcoming 70th birthday. We took the Subway, Path and light rail only to end up in New Jersey. We then decided to get a taxi to take us as we were clearly not having much luck. The taxi drive dropped us off in Liberty State Park near the old railway. We went in the building to ask for directions, only to find we were still a couple of miles from the monument. This is where Jay, a Liberty State Park worker, saves the day, he drove us to the Memorial which was near his office at that end of the park, meaning my mum could see the Memorial as per her wish, and then drove us back to get the water taxi to NYC. Without Jay’s kindness that day, I don’t think we would have made the Memorial and I wanted to thank him so much. I wasn’t sure how best to go about it but hopefully this review will reach him and if it does, thank you so much Jay!

This park has something for everyone. You can run, walk or ride your bike along the water and see majestic views of New York and the Statue of Liberty. You can have a picnic or barbecue (they provide bins to dump your charcoal afterwards). There are a ton of benches to just sit and admire the scenery.
There are eco kayaking tours that you need to book in advance and are only $20 per person. You can launch your boat into the river or see views of several bridges. The area is massive and there is a ton of free parking.
They also have a huge playground for kids to enjoy. Nice bathrooms on site. Fun for everyone regardless of age.

Had a 6 hour layover at Newark Airport and I escaped to come visit this beauty. It is about 20 mins drive from the airport. Spent good 2-2.5 hours at this place and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The view of NYC skyline and the statue of liberty is great. Must visit

Liberty state park, a nice place to visit with family to relax and specially in the evening. Old port of New York city having good view of New York city skyline. There is a 9/11 memorial also.

A beautiful walk to enjoy an incredible view of the skyline. Lots of space to walk & enjoy the scenery. A bonus was the free parking.

The amazing liberty statute make me in awe. A national park that perpetuates the friendship of America and France.

Excellent large park with views! Dead on view of One World Trade Center. Not the best view for Lady Liberty. But great park to walk, rest, relax, and view lower Manahattan !

A sprawling park on the Hudson River, it's the best place to go if you want to feel like you aren't in an urban area anymore. There are tons of trails and pathways for biking/running/walking, huge fields to picnic or suntan in, and the waterside walkway will give you panoramic views of the NYC Skyline (including the Statue of Liberty, WTC, and Empire State building). If you have a CitiBike membership, biking from one of the stations by the Jersey City Medical Center is a great option.

Very nice park. Paid and free parking. We found free parking on both sides and in the middle where the kids playground is.
We had a picnic near the playground. Seemed to be a lot of picnic tables available in this area and the side near the statue of liberty.

Great place to go for a walk, take the pups and kids. Lots of incredible views and opportunities for pictures. Easy access to the ferries if you want to go into the city or tickets purchase if you want to go to the Statue of Liberty. There are multiple parking lots with free parking, there is one parking lot that you must pay to park (next to ferry terminal). Look at signs in parking lot to see allowable parking time.

The view from public transportation options are equally as good as from here. We do not recommend driving here, but also, do not come here. The views are not as great as touted to be.

It was hard to get here using public transportation, so I ended up taking an Uber. I stopped by since I was taking the State City cruise for Ellis and Liberty Islands. The cruise was using the old railway building as their office. Since I arrived early, I went for a walk around the park.
It is located across the river from Manhattan so it gives a really nice view of the city. There is a walkway which goes along the river, going behind Ellis Island and Liberty Island, giving a different view of the islands.
The pathways were wide and very clean. It was tranquil and quite an easy walk. I didn't have time to explore the entire park, but I did end up walking to the Liberation Monument on Black Tom Island. It was quite scenic to and from the cruise building.
It is easily a nice trip in itself but also a nice side trip if you're in the area and have some time to spare.

Great place to see Manhattan skyline. We just walked quickly thru the park to see the view and board on a boat to Statue of Liberty. Great to board from this side as way less people and you may then continue your trip to Manhattan after visiting the statue and Ellis Island.

Was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle taking some time out to stroll around Liberty State Park with a coffee.

The second day after our arrival at New York, we went the landmark- Liberty State Park to visit the Liberty Statue. We took the ferry to have some great views of the island and of course, the statue itself and the surrounding waters. By the time we got to the island, it started to rain, thus we did not spend sufficient time to explore more. However, it’s nice to have this revisit and surely will return in the future to explor3 more!

My wife and I attended a picnic with our relatives in Liberty State Park to celebrate a birthday in October 2021. I decided to walk around. The park is very good for walking. There is a promenade or esplanade near the Hudson River. There are beautiful views of Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan. I walked to a bridge which goes to Ellis Island but it is only open to employees. I walked back past the entrance and security for the ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty and through the Ferry Terminal. There is also a monument to New Jersey's victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Finally, I walked to the Liberty Landing Ferry and took the ferry to the World Financial Center and Manhattan.

This is a no brainer. Lady Liberty attracts people from all over. The view of New York City and Jersey City is excellent.

On August 5, 2018 I went to a concert in liberty state park it was my very first time. I must say the view overlooking New York City is beautiful. The park has a lot trails where you can ride your bike or have a family panic. Across there is a marina where boats are dock a lovely place and kid friendly.

We like to stop here when friends or family are in town. Everyone enjoys the skyline and it usually starts the conversation for a trip to NY or to the Statue, which we do schedule for next time. I see people biking or walking and some playing with dogs, so it's a great outdoor place.

Liberty Park is the best way to get to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The lines are very short compared to NYC.
The park is nicely landscaped.

I had no idea what to expect when I and my friend decided to make a stop at this place. Man it turned out to be one of the best ever travel moves I have ever made.
What a beautiful view of the Hudson River and of New York City and its skyline.
It was a cool, dreary day and therefore there were not a lot of people around, which made things much more comfortable and easier to get around.
It is a great place to get to see a wonderful view of the area without all the people and traffic. Now when I see all those commercials on television I can now say that I was on that side of the river.
Make an effort to get to this place.

Great place to get photo's of many of the attractions (at a distance) from one location, can see the New York City skyline, they have a 9/11 memorial, also the old train station from the 1920's / 1930's. You can also catch the ferry to the Status of Liberty and Ellis island as well. They have plenty of parking, and great places to take photo's from while waiting to board the ferry. Long curving paved walkway around the water front with benches to enjoy the views and relax.

Outstanding view of New York while walking, jogging or biking on the boardwalk. Picnic tables in the park makes it a good place for family gatherings.

The drive is a pain and parking is tough but once you walk to the edge of the water you'll be wowed by the view of lower Manhattan and the back of the Statue.

Very pretty. We as and just watched the water and boats go bye. There is a playground and places to sit and eat. Parking was easy and free.

A beautiful spot for a wedding with the NYC skyline as a backdrop. Statue of Liberty is also off shore.

Beautiful place to to walk around. You can get nice view of Statue of Liberty from here and ferry tickets can be purchased to visit Liberty Island. It is a park in New Jersey, located on upper New York Bay in Jersey City. It is located opposite to both Liberty Island and Ellis Island.

Was our first time watching the firework show of jersey city and we loved it. We rode our bikes there and had perfect spot to watch it. Not too crowded.

Love my Jersey City Park. Great for walking, running, biking with a fabulous view of Manhattan. Plenty to do and see. Enjoy!

Don't go on a windy day there because you will fly!Afternoon hours are the best for Manhattan view because the sun is behind you.

It was my first time and it was great surprise!
Tourists enjoy and delight these view!
My flight departure from Newark early morning and I decide to stay at the hotel near the airport and enjoy places around there!
It was a Good choice!

fantastic park. not crowded. while waiting for ferry to Statue Island, we manage to walk along the water front and take beautiful pic of NYC/manhanttan from opposite site. only known for local people. so no worries about long queue. so windy that day. but we love the cold weather

We spent a little time looking around here before we went on the ferry to the Statue of Liberty. It wasn't big but was a nice way to spend some time. The have a nice Twin Towers memorial as well. The train station was very cool.

Even though I went for the earth day celebration, I rediscovered that this is an amazing park. The views and the space are incredible. If you can visit the part where the old railroad is located you would be surprised. It's beautiful. You would be able to pick up all the pamphlets you need to spend time in New Jersey. Also you can take the Statue of Liberty cruises or a water taxi to New York.

This is a large park to walk or bike. You can see beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Wish I had more time to spend here

If you have a car it may be a completely different experience. I took the light train and got off right next to the park, but there were no signs pointing to the park. I walked A LOT not really knowing where I was going... mostly looking for the water... Eventually, I found a park map and the walkway. ran into the 9/11 memorial, and saw the statue of liberty from behind. Lots of trails and places to walk by, but nothing really really telling you where to go. There were also very few people and I didnt feel safe.

Liberty State Park is a laid-back oasis in Jersey City, offering green spaces, waterfront views, and a chill vibe. Perfect for picnics, casual walks, and family fun at the Liberty Science Center. It's a go-to spot for a relaxed day out with a great view of the Statue of Liberty – nature, history, and good times in one place.

This place was hard to find coming off the New Jersey Turnpike. Perhaps this was because we haven’t been here in a while and didn’t take the easiest route but signs could be MUCH better coming into this place. Once we got there things were nice. Parking only $7 for the day and the Statue Cruise line was right there to take you to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. You could see Ellis Island close by and the Statue of Liberty in the distance. We bought Ferry tickets in the old Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal station and that place is really pretty both inside and out and I feel it’s underrated, it’s almost ignored despite it’s historical significance. There’s not really much inside the building but it has great architecture. Right next to the park is the new skyscrapers of Jersey city which contrast very nicely with the old Railroad station. This railroad terminal was built in 1889 and it operated until April 30, 1967 and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since September 12, 1975. After being greeted by the Statue of Liberty and processed at Ellis Island, immigrants purchased tickets and boarded trains at the Terminal that took them to their new homes throughout the United States. When coming back to this building after a day of sightseeing on Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty take a good look at the building and take some pics. Views of NYC just in front of this building are amazing. The National Park Service should include information about this building in their Ellis Island-Statue of Liberty brochure or they should have some other printed material on this significant building.

The park is very well maintained, there's some interesting stuff to see and learn, looks safe and clean, parking is available for free, you can rent bicycles to go around which is very fun, can go either at day or night time, this park can be great for picnic, for the kids, to go as a couple or just with your dog... the best part for me was the amazing views!

One of its kind park. Got a very close view of Statue of Liberty. Very scenic night view of Manhattan and Downtown. Lots of benches to rest.

You will enjoy the nice park, the nearby museums, the restaurant... but the real reason to be here is the amazing view of the City. This is THE spot to take your NYC skyline pictures.

Only costs $7.00 to park and $7.00 to ride the ferry to manhattan. Wonderful views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Manhattan.

Was much better than expected. A nice view of the Statue of Liberty, NYC skyline (maybe one of the best places to view it from a distance), several monuments, particularly the one dedicated to victims from NJ of 9-11 attacks. Also several restaurants if that is what you are looking to do. Convenient parking for tickets and ferry ride to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. In fact, was able to get immediately in line from Statue or Liberty for ride home while the line going back to NYC was easily a 1/4 mile long (no exagerration). I would plan on an hour and a half if you are just staying in Liberty State Park, but a full day if you are taking the fery rides to the STatue of Liberty and/or Ellis Island.

Great place to be next to densely crowded Jersey City. Nice place to hang out with family with young kids.

We stayed at hotel Hyatt House and was short walk. It was $7.00 to ride the ferry to manhattan. Wonderful views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Manhattan.
an absolutely must to see; beautiful

Beautiful park. We took a nice walk through the park to get to the boat to see Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

The boat trip to the island. Very nice staff on that vessel. great parking at the park
Beautiful day with perfect weather.
Took my wife, daughter and grand daughter (her first time to see the status)

It’s a very large well maintained park with covered area also for parties and picnic. Nice view of Manhattans and Statue of Liberty, ample parking so why not visit

There's no other way to put it....Liberty State Park is simply beautiful!! It's large, clean, has restroom facilities and some of the best views of the entire NYC Manhattan skyline, you'd rarely find anywhere else in Jersey. There's free as well as paid parking, a complete large children's jungle gym area inside the park, vast areas for biking, jogging, working out, Dog walking, kite flying, skateboarding, fishing, family picnics, Barbecues, and so many more outdoor activities. The Liberty Science Center is located right next to the park as well. And as mentioned in the title it's also " A wonderful place to take amazing outdoor wedding photos."
It's literally a hidden gem located right on the edge of Jersey City. Just 3 or 4 stops on the PATH train if your coming from Downtown Manhattan (Freedom Tower Area). Or if you're traveling by car, just minutes from the Holland Tunnel.

We visited the park to take the Liberty Island and Ellis Island ferry from NJ and avoid going to NYC. Parking is $7, and it was available fairly close to the Railroad Blg. Not many people were there, even on a warm Sunday in July. We made our ticket reservation in advance for 11 am., but that didn't seem necessary when we got there early and were let on board. When we returned on the ferry to the Railroad Museum, we sat inside and rested during a rain shower. The building is interesting, though limited in what it offers. There were a couple historical displays inside, as well as the sculpture of remembrance for the NJ victims of 9/11 outside. One suggestion: the drive from the highway turnoff to the museum is quite a distance, and one or two turns were not well-marked, so allow enough time for that part and the walk from the parking to the ferry pickup.

I really liked this park and would recommend it to all who want to have some peace in the busy life.
Just go here and chill. Feel the cold breeze, take mesmerising view of NYC skyline. Do barbecue and eat and party with friends

Great place for fun and the kids. The lights across Hudson at night is beautiful. A sight to see NY from the other side.

We parked near the helipad and parking was free and plentiful. There is a visitor's building near by and a great jogging trail along the Hudson.

We visited in part to catch the ferry to Liberty Island. The park is well kept and lovely. I wish we had more time to explore. Highly recommended for great view of the city, The Statue of Liberty and a bit of nature in surrounded by cement and other impermeable structures.

I had a family trip to The Liberty State Park at Jersey City. It was an amazing experience there with beautiful view of the Manhattan tall buildings .

parking is free and great views of the NY skyline. You should drive all the way up the park where you fine free parking

We took a couple of walks through different parts of this park. It was clean and safe and many people seemed to be enjoying the artwork, skyline views, visiting with others, taking children to an outdoor movie, etc. We also used this to catch our ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The weather was perfect the two nights we were there.

This attraction was the beginning of journeys into the American interiors. The numerous lines represented different destinations where immigrants went.
This was the final stage after processing. Thus it is important to visit the rest of the attractions, i.e Ellis Museum, and Statue of Liberty.
The modern city of Jersey, is a manifestation of the transformation immigration has had on United States.

We took the PATH for only one stop and walked about. You can see the memorial of the people of New Jersey that died during the 0911 disaster: impressive. But also impressive is the look at Manhattan from there

This is the place to go to see both the skyline and statue of liberty. There is even a playground for children if they get restless (or if you need to bribe them for pictures)

This is a beautiful park, very historic housing the remenents of the Central Railroad of New Jersey. There is a small museum and you can catch a ferry over to Ellis Island and Lady Liberty. There are large picnic areas, a marina and some restaurants and the whole area offers the most majestic views of lower Manhattan and the NY Harbor.

best place to be in - do whatever you want - cycling , water sports, walking , jogging , grilling , big kids area . and the list goes on .
You get the best view on NYC .
good thing is parking is free all across the park
Thanks

Liberty State Park, for those who live nearby, offers a peaceful escape from urban life. It's a beautiful space for biking, walking, running, or simply relaxing with a picnic lunch on the grass. Tourists and resident history buffs alike enjoy the easy access from the park to the Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty ferry, and now that the Central Railroad Terminal is open again, the "historic trilogy" is complete. For travel-weary visitors simply looking for a good photo-op, you can easily drive into the Park, walk down a short path, and get a magnificent view of (the back of) the Statue, Ellis Island, and, of course, the Manhattan skyline. The Park is also home to Liberty Science Center, with tons of hands-on sciency exhibits that kids love. (Note: this review says my visit was "solo" - that was my most recent visit, but I've been many times with many different people. Great for couples, friends, and families with kids of all ages.)

Very pretty park with boarding for Staten Island and the Statue of Liberty at the foot of the park
And the World Trade Center nearby

a large park, with a boardwalk along the Hudson, taking to past the back of the Statue of Liberty.
We went just to get the views of Manhattan, and take skyline photos, but the park itself is lovely, well laid out, with plenty of benches to allow you to sit and relax, lots of space for family picnics and a children's play area.
Plenty of runners and cyclist using the park, but the also the space to make it work.

Gorgeous park, unparalleled views of lower Manhattan, Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and the Verrazano. A must visit for NJ/NYC tourist. Liberty House is a wonderful refresh for food and beverage — outdoor seating on nice days and evenings must be experienced. During the off bird migration period there are beaches and trails that will defy one’s belief of urban ecology.

The best views of the NYC skyline aren't even in New York...but here! A couple business partners and I decided to walk around this park to kill some time, and I'm so glad we did! Not only can you see the entire NYC skyline, but Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty are also clearly visible.
The park was very well-kept, and despite it being the off season (January), the bathrooms were open and all utilities were fully functioning. There is a playground on the premise for children, as well as a plethora of picnic benches. Leashed dogs are welcomed, and the running path is paved and in very good condition.
If you want great views of the NYC skyline, or just want to enjoy being outside, this is the place to be!

Went here to catch the statue cruise ferry to see Ellis Island and the Staute of Liberty. A lot of stuff here. Good place to walk and enjoy the sky line of Manhattan across the river.

There was no availible parking, so I had to wait 40 minutes for someone to leave and when I finally walked out to the pier, the views were nothing compared to others I've seen of New York City and it was completely over run with people. Don't recommend!

It is a great place, Free parking. Nice NY City View from the park. There are several play place for KIDS. Great place to biking and running!

This was our second visit to the park. On our previous trip we explored the south end which is close to the Statue of Liberty, although you see her backside. This time we went to the north side. Besides the incredible views of Manhattan and even the Jersey City skyline, the Empty Sky Memorial is fabulous.
The park also houses the ferry docks that travel to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
There is free parking for the park and pay parking for the Liberty Island tours.

I come here often to take photos of Manhattan and the 9-11 memorial. The park has a nice paved path along the waterfront with great views of Ellis Island and the Statue of liberty. There is also a historic rail station here, which is where you can buy tickets for the Statue of liberty ferry.

This New Jersey park has a good view of the Statue of Liberty and New York's Manhattan and the Ellis Island museum buildings. The parking lots are free and at least in November there was plenty of space. There is also a Liberation Monument in the park.

Living in the area I am able to get here often. This is a beautiful park with a lovely walkway on the water, beautiful view of New York and the Statue of Liberty. This is a great place to run. There is a serene memorial for 911. This is a great place for kids and there are BBQ areas with picnic tables

Fab park, we really enjoyed it..would highly recommend this..great views of the Statue of Liberty and it’s free

It had a very great view of NYC and it’s wonderful, and it’s very good to take pictures, and there’s a port to Ellis island and the Statue of Liberty!!!

I walked around this park. There was no admission cost. It was a little tough to navigate my drive within this park, but I found free parking for two (2) hours. In my belief, this park was safe, but I thought that the adjacent areas were more suspect. There were police officers patrolling this park. I liked the views of Jersey City, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Ellis Island, Liberty Island, and the Verrazzano Bridge. There were ferries available which took people to various attractions. This park had many grasslands for people to host events. There was also a 9/11 memorial.

Great view looking across the Hudson at the NYC skyline. We stayed at the Hyatt on the waterfront so it was a very short walk away. A must see if visiting Jersey City

Keeping it simple Liberty Park is very nice. Yes it free to just park and visit. The views of NY sky line is amazing early AM till sunset. When the lights come on NY comes to life.
2 hour free parking for a short visit or affordable paid parking for longer visits.
You can take the Harbor Ferries from this park to some amazing sites; Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and of course a quick ride to NY.
If your visiting soon dress Warmly 🥶
**Caution ; just make sure you check for last ferry time back and pick up location FROM the NY side. Times and location will vary.

Best place to be if you want to wide view of downtown Manhattan + staten island + Liberty Statue and some portion of Jersey city. In summer this place can be very relaxing for a weekend barbecue party with friends and family. Plenty of greenery and fresh air and water around to make your trip worth the time. If you looking for public transit then the closest light rail station is "Liberty State Park"

We took friends from out of town here for the view of the Statue of Liberty but there was also a small and interesting (and free) museum in the train station. Also miles of trails to walk or bike.

Parked at this large pork on the Jersey side on the way to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Great water views and views of Manhattan. Lots of green space and a few restaurants. Also lots of parking or so. It seemed being restored, which will make the visit even better in the future in terms of the railway depot memorable memorial to 9/11.

We choose this location to take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island - since it is easier to park and less crowded if you have your own vehicle. We purchased our tickets online and picked them up in the old train terminal. The terminal has nice bathrooms - except that they close early so either use the facilities on the ferry or they have some port a potties in the parking lot on the way out that are not as nice.

A beautiful prelude to something so significant to our cherished country AMERICA. The Empty Sky Memorial was a surprise, so beautiful. I loved the history of the train station.

Great views on the waterfront, take the ferry to Ellis Island, and/or Statue of Liberty...Ferry's do get crowded, just try to time everything for each stop.

With beautiful greens everywhere to enjoy picnics and barbecues in the grassy pavilions; and stargazing and exploring at the Liberty Science Center, you can see the skylines of NYC and old time train station.

I truly felt like I hit the lottery when I found this spot! Was nearby in Newark and had wanted to see the Statue of Liberty. Read reviews for this place and decided to check it out; was super glad I did! We got here early in the morning (around 8) and we had the place practically to ourselves. We parked in the free 2-hour parking over by the train station (and later moved to the paid lot - $7 for all day). The abandoned train station was WAY cool! And the view of Ellis Island from the other side was great. It was a bit foggy the morning we were there, which really helped set the mood. :) We ended up taking the water taxi over to lower Manhattan. A quick 15-minute trip which cost $7 for adults and $5 for kids, one way. So great. I would definitely go back if ever in the area.

Originally we planned to spend a day-part by walking around in Liberty State Park. But as we had a (rental) car we decided to take a tour of LSP by car. In that hour we visited couple of highlights: 9/11 memorial, the old railway station, the walkway around the Hudson and Flag plaza, with very nice views of Manhattan and statue of Liberty. All done within 1 hour. If you have plenty of timing, allocating a day-part to walk and relax could be an option. For us the car-tour seemed to be sufficient.

This is one of our favourite parks, the views of the bay are great. It is a really spot for a family barbecue.

Stunning views of Manhattan skyline, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty. Easy to access, flat, great for a run. Lovely flowers in bloom in May - take a camera.

I love taking long romantic walks along the waterfront. This place is great. Walking along the waterfront with a front row view of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Verazzano Bridge, Manhattan skyline was just beautiful. We walked through the old train station and enjoyed seeing history before our very eyes.
Parking was easy and free in the parking lot of of Bayview.
I will have to be back to enjoy this hidden gem oasis just 5 minutes from Newark Airport.

On vacation, I decided to go over to the park for some pictures, parking was a issue but was able to stop for a few seconds to get a few pictures

We took the light rail and walked from Jersey City to get to the park where we were then taking the Statue of Liberty Ferry. It made a nice trip with views to Manhattan across the river and Statue of Liberty in the distance. Other points of interest included Old Rail Terminal and Empty Sky Memorial. On our return we walked along riverside and took a short local Ferry crossing back over to Jersey City for easy walk back to Paulus Hook. There were still large parts of park we hadn’t covered but iwhat we saw and walked contributed to a great day out.

Very beautiful iconic park. Great views especially of the Statue of Liberty and the New York Skyline. Great to walk around and very peaceful. Also has ferries if you want to visit Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. A must see. You can relax, walk, see liberty science center, visit the old train station, and picnic.

Good size park with awesome views of Manhattan Skyline. You get ferries here to reach Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Good place to spend some time with family.

This is a public park with walking paths and a nice building with large stand mounted binoculars to look out to the statue of liberty. We wanted to see the Statue of Liberty but it closes at 4pm. From this park you get a view of the back side of the statue, NOT her face. It is still an opportunity to see it if you don't catch it during the daytime hours. There is a nice public building with restrooms, and a large porch area with binoculars. There is also a nice skyline view of New York city across the water, and it appears that there is a long paved boardwalk that may take you back to the city either walking or riding a bike.

A few times I brought guests from other cities & countries to see Empty Sky Memorial. All of my guests were very impressed with it. Also there is a convenient way from the park to NY City downtown by water taxi.

Easy to get to when visiting the Statue of liberty. B we sure to purchase tickets in advance for access to the Crown.

Some of the best views of the Manhattan sky line! A great place to walk, bike, or jog. Great views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and plenty of space to have a picnic lunch.

Large, clean, and a spectacular view of the NYC and the back side of the Statue of Liberty. Plenty of free parking.

We visited the park to see the Statue of Liberty. It is a huge and beautiful park. The walk to the edge of the harbor was gorgeous amongst the USA flags flying in the wind. The statue is huge and so amazing to see. From the NJ side you are looking at the back but it didn't matter to us. We were not going into NY and we didn't have time to go out to the island but it was an awesome experience. I have wanted to see it for 60 years and finally got to :)
The only disappointment was the park office was not open and we did not see a sign to say why. So no stamp or souvenirs from here :(

One of the best parks in the city.
You can go there for picnic with your family.
You can go for running and biking it has amazing running track.

you won't be disappointed. Liberty State Park is an iconic site in Jersey City. The State of New Jersey has lots of Parks that's why is called the Garden State. As you walk around this Monument Park the view is incredible. Working out is a plus, or just sitting down will make your day.

We did not go to the Liberty Science Center but hard a lot of good things about it. If we go back, would certainly visit.

Extraordinary experience, especially for our four/year old granddaughter. Every exhibit was child friendly, accessible and many were hands-on!

Make sure to pack your patience and to buy your tickets online, otherwise, you will be waiting hours! The coffee at the restaurant is worth the chaos :). It was a long wait but the fairy and the history was worth the experience.

Lived in NJ for 40+ years and have never been here until a few days ago!
What a beautiful serene park! Stunning views of Downtown NYC and the backside of Ms. Liberty (Statue of Liberty)! A nice picnic area and inside restrooms that were very clean! A beautiful walk to the 911 Memorial, Empty Sky! Plenty of places to throw a blanket down and just enjoy the view! I’m sure this park gets packed during the summer, but what a nice place to relax at!

I love coming here to take pictures. The view is very nice especially during sunset. It a great park to relax.

A beautiful park with stunning views of the Statue of Liberty and New York skyline. A very relaxing and enjoyable way to spend vacation time. I was in awe of the views and somber too as I remembered 9/11. Well worth a visit. Bring some water along-it was 82 degrees and sunny and there was only one drinking fountain that I saw in the whole park.

Very organized and quick even snacks and drinks on board. Just was a little difficult to find due no physical address just a cross street

I have been here several times, and every single time I am here for over an hour.
This place has plenty to do from just walking around enjoying the amazing view of the City, Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty to taking the ferry over to the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island.
You are also walking distance to the Liberty Science Center, and "Empty Sky" 9/11 Memorial.
If you are looking for a place to visit, walk or just take in the sites, Liberty State Park is the place.

Really nice park. We only walked in the beautiful promenade. It goes about two miles. There is a picnic area. It's free and even free parking. I had 2 problem...i only saw one resteoom in the whole walk

We used liberty state park to access the Statue city cruises' ferry to the Statue of Liberty's, Liberty Island. GPS. Gets you to the state park just fine, but once in the park, it leads you to the visitor center, which opened at 8:00 a.m., luckily for us. The young man was frei fly and helpful. He pointed us in the right direction. The state park is huge and we easily could have missed out 9:00 a.m. ferry traversing the long and plentiful roads of the park. If you are going for a scheduled ferry, arrive early to figure out where to go. Liberty State Park was beautiful and had lots of great views of New York and Lady Liberty.

There are several entry points to Liberty State Park. You want to make sure you are near the water and the walkway that allows you to see the Statue of Liberty as well as the NYC skyline. Lots of families were also making a day of it when my friend and I were there. We saw people picnicking, relaxing and walking.

we would like to hear more about him... he helps everyone get where they have to go! thank you very much jay!

Liberty State Park is a great place to spend half-a-day easily - there is a little bit of everything.
Parking is a breeze - lot of parking spots and not too costly ($7/day by the ferry terminal, or free if you park in the other parts of the park).
First off, the lines for the ferry to Liberty Island and Ellis Island are much shorter than at Battery Park in NYC. Highly recommend if you are on the New Jersey side.
The 9/11 memorial by the ferry terminal is a bit garish/huge but a poignant reminder of the horrid events. The plaza by the memorial is nice and a good spot for photos with a background of NYC downtown.
There are a couple of playgrounds - one by the Flag plaza on the South end of the park and the other off Freedom way (by the bridge to Ellis Island). Good spots for kids to run around, play, etc. There are numerous other walking and biking paths - along the water, further inland.
Grilling is allowed in parts of the park, though these get occupied/busy on a good day. So, plan in advance.
The Liberty House restaurant on the North end of the park (by the Morris Canal/border of Jersey City) is an *awesome* location. A good place to unwind with a nice cold one after a fun/long day in the park. The drinks are great, the food is decent and the views are one of the best in the NYC metro area.
Overall, a must visit if you are looking to spend a half-day or even a full-day in the area.

I went to Liberty State Park on last Wednesday afternoon. It is weekday and winter, so there is no crowd at all. If you go to ferry parking, you should pay the fee. But the other parking lot is free and plenty of spaces. It is the great place for walking and taking pictures.

After a Google search of Liberty State Park, you would be justified in thinking this is just a spot to catch cruises and ferries for Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. In fact, it is an excellent place for walking and picnicking. The Empty Sky Memorial and the old Central Railway of New Jersey terminal are added bonuses.
We initially had trouble finding the park from I-78. The signs on the highway say ‘New York City – Holland Tunnel Only’. We nearly abandoned the Interstate at that point, but the GPS said keep going. Shortly after a new sign said ‘Jersey City – Next 5 Exits’. Not the first time we were confused with signage. If you live are and are familiar it probably all makes sense but as a tourist be ready to be confused.

This is such an underrated park. It has huge acreage, history, wildlife, Statue of Liberty, great view of the NYC skyline and much more.

We were traveling to DC from NH. We visited the park not only to stretch the legs, but for the views. To me the best park of the park is the flags that are near the visitors center with the Statue of Liberty behind them, and New York City behind her. This is also a very good area for a picnic. There are many picnic tables available, and a few charcoal grills. Take a walk past the flags and get a close up view of the Statue, Ellis Island, the Hudson River, and of course NYC. Well worth a visit if you are in the area!

If you want to get the best skyline view of NYC, go to Liberty State Park. The sunset reflection on the downtown Manhattan skyscrapper window is beautiful. Many tourists forget about the Jersey side when in NYC but it is a true gem.

Free event to walk the park and see Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. Can bring your own picnic if you want.

My husband amd I enjoyed our day at Liberty State park. It was a beautiful day and the views were amazingly gorgeous. You can see lower Manhattan NY with the new Freedom Tower stands tall amongst all the skyscrapers. Amd you can see the Staue of Liberty off in the distance. Just gorgeous! Great place to get away from the city and the rush. A must go.

Liberty state Park is the NJ access point to the statue of Liberty. It is very well designed to handle the large crowds that visit the park/statue. The best part of this is the quality of the staff, both rangers and cruise line people. They do every thing they can to ensure things run smoothly for your visit.
Key thing to visit the park/statue is to plan well in advance. There are strict constraints that impact your visit, especially if you plan on going to the crown of the statue. This is a great day long adventure and a real bargain for all the things you will want to see/experience.
DON'T RUSH YOUR DAY!

My son and I were in town for a hockey tournament on NJ. We had several hours between some games and wanted to take in some sites we have never seen. I found the park and that we could visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island from the Jersey side, yeah!! The park was easy to get to and at the time of our visit (Oct Sunday afternoon), parking was easy. (Parking did cost a few dollars, I think I paid $7 in the ferry lot. There is an hourly lot also.). Bathrooms close to the parking lot, and in other areas as well.
Since we didn’t have a lot of time to spare, we mostly focused on getting onto the ferry to the islands, but the park looked very nice. I loved seeing the old train depot. The 9/11 Memorial was impactful. I didn’t even realize there was one on the NJ side. Views were great.
If we ever are back in NJ and have more time, we would definitely go back and take more time to take it all in,

This is one of the best parks to goto whether it's for a stroll, a workout, or for sightseeing. The skyline view of downtown Manhattan is stunning and the park offers places for BBQing, playing recreational sports, relaxing, and eating. A true gem in Jersey City

Even if you’re staying in New York, it’s worth going across to New Jersey to the park.
It offers a fabulous view of the New York/Manhattan skyline. You can take the ferry across from New York City to Ellis Island/ Liberty Island or the train/metro and ferry is back from Jersey to Battery Park, New York (downtown) via the islands and catch a glimpse of the Statue Of Liberty.
I would recommend keeping half a day in hand, to tour both islands - Ellis Island and Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty.
Beware of scams and people selling fake tickets especially in the battery park area. It’s best to buy them previously online from the official trusted site.
There are sometimes pretty good groupon offers as well so look out for them.
Besides the ferry service, the park is also great for joggers, runners, people walking and even for picnics. It’s pet-friendly and has a playground.
There are public restrooms

This is a wonderful place to visit! I was unaware and I believe others may be as well that when you come here you want to expect to plan an entire day here.. we scheduled to take the 10 a.m. Ferry and by the time we took the ferry to Ellis Island saw everything there was to see there then took the ferry over to the Statue of Liberty saw everything there was to see there went in the pedestal and all the way up to the crown it was around 5 p.m. when we were done with everything.. honestly we could have spent more time at Ellis Island and the statue.. we did not rush but we could have taken more time for sure. There is so much to see at Ellis Island I was so surprised at how interesting and how much there is to actually see there... the audio tour is wonderful....

We took the Ferry to the Liberty Statue and to the Ellis Island and it was an amazing experience! The kids really enjoyed it! They have a very nice cafeteria with good food.

Parking was easy and spacious. The park is very nice (bring your bikes/skates) and it was very easy to take the ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Be prepared for security (it is like the airport).

We were traveling with family and the kids wanted to be able to say they had seen the Statue of Liberty. I was not about to drive into New York with a minivan full of luggage. So we went to the Liberty State Park New Jersey City. We found free parking, walked to the shore and were able to see the skyline and get pictures with the Statue of Liberty in the background. It would have been nice to go to Ellis Island and Liberty Island, put the expense was prohibitive. However, the kids were satisfied to say they had seen it, the park was very pretty, and we were able to be back on the turnpike in 20 minutes. All in all, a good compromise to make people happy.

We visited the park when we were headed to see the Statue of Liberty. The main road into the ferry terminal, in the park, Audrey Zapp road, is a mosaic of stones that is rough riding.
I saw a marina, a restaurant, and the $7 that we had to pay for parking. The historic train station and train yard houses the ferry ticketing for the Statue of Liberty. Since we were in a hurry, I did not get to look over the train station as I would have liked.
The view of NYC is remarkable on the water front. Still, though, this isn’t the back drop for the Liberty Mutual commercials. Ultimately, the park looks safe and well-maintained.

Most of the visitors only knows that steamer operates from NY for Liberty Park. But there is an equal opportunity to take the ride from NJ - Liberty Park and experience the same. Just keep in mind and avail this if your stay is near by NJ area and you want to visit State Park. Plus this area has good trail for waling/running too.

This is a perfect place for bbq, picnics, riding bikes, etc . It also have beautifull views of manhattan.

Amazing experience if you have not been here yet, cruising is always a great idea. I just wish there's better food in the ferry. We didn't go down to the liberty island when we saw how crowded the park is. Though I can tell that by just sitting on the lawn with a beautiful view of the sea, sun and a lemonade from the park's restaurant is very relaxing, it's an experience you can forever keep. There's a really nice mall nearby where there are yachts parked in front, I suggests eating at one of the restaurants there after the cruise. The view from the restaurants is breath taking.

Nice place to go and relax and get some work done on your lap too. Watch the water. Go to the train station area sight see the area around

Great experience to view the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island .plan for it to be all day to see and enjoy the sights . You can bring your food in a small backpack no coolers allowed . They have a cafe on the island but it’s over priced .

I love Liberty Park! The walking, for exercise, the amazing view of Lady Liberty, & the calmness of watching the water & the boats travelling through.
I travel almost 3 hrs, just to experience the zen, of such an amazing place. My service dog loves to explore as well.
You can even have blanket picnics for a family, a couple's date, or a solo date. Either way, you'll enjoy the time spent, at Liberty Park.

I like to visit this park. Its soothing calm and beautiful. View is great. Its a great place to hangout in summer

The best place to view the New York Skyline. The is also the best place to take pictures and relax with family and friends.

This is a large public park that has outstanding views of downtown Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. You can also get a ferry here to the Statue. There is a walking path along the water, there are bike trails and there is a large area for picnics. There are playgrounds scattered about and some monuments. Ample parking is available.

Beautiful view of the lower Manhattan sky line and statue of liberty, there is a monument to those that died in 911, looking between the walls of the monument you will see the location where the twin towers once stood , we did not have the time to take the ferry out to the statue but the building were the tickets are purchased is a historic train station where emigrants from Ellis island came to get there train to where ever they where going

Beautiful views from the waterfront in Jersey City and along Liberty State Park boardwalk. Very walkable and good restaurants

LSP is beautiful and well maintained with gorgeous views across the Hudson. I’m a bit concerned about the area near the decommissioned railroad station, and I would not be at all surprised if some politician sells it off to a contractor and I return to find high rise apartments or condos blocking part of the views, in what I believe to be currently protected Park land. I hope this isn’t the case as is what was (repeatedly) done throughout the waterfront area, pushing hard working blue collars out and giving access to views to only the wealthiest renters/ owners. We shall see! Politics in N.J...nothing would surprise me!

For the breathtaking views of the NY skyline, which is also a pickup point for tourists, this is one unmissable lung space for the New Yorkers, joggers and tourists alike.
The park also has a historic railway station, where the immigrants to the city were received and transported to various places across the country.
It also has a huge restaurant, an ideal place for private parties or a lazy afternoon meal or drink.
Certainly unmissable for the photos and historical relevance.

We stopped by for a quick visit before checking in to our hotel. All I can say is WOW! If you want a great view of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty without the crowds and craziness, you need to stop here. This would be a perfect picnic spot during warmer months!

We drove through Liberty state park on our way to New York and the drive itself is so beautiful, its an old brick road which has the city in one side and the harbour on the other which has so many boats docked and it looks stunning, along with that we can see the Statue of Liberty from backside and its a beautiful drive, you can get down and walk around too. Parking is a lil far but its worth it.

It's worth going to see and enjoy spectacular views of New York. A quiet and safe park, perfect for walking and enjoying all its surroundings.

It was awesome view from the park, particularly in the evening, while watching ferries and city lights.

Get those iconic family pics with the city skyline, Lady Liberty and the harbor in the background for free and on your own time schedule.
If you and Clark Griswold like to linger for all of a minute and a half, this is perfect. If you want to spend the day and bring a picnic, this is perfect. This park was clean and beautiful the day we were there despite the Saturday (yet family friendly) crowd. Good job, Jersey City!

Great experience. Beautiful grounds. So glad we visited. The views are spectacular. The gardens stunning. Gives you a whole new view of the skyline.

We reserved an area, to BBQ, and have a fun time for family and friends, picked a great location, with plenty if parking and very clean. Specially the bathrooms, I have a little girl, so ckean bathrooms are a must.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Statue of Liberty, but it was confusing getting there. The path and parking were poorly labeled, as were lines for tickets and security with our premium tickets. It took us extra time to visit all this and shortened our visiting time. We did the crown access, which requires 3-4 months earlier reservation. It was a difficult climb but I’m glad we did it. I wish we had more time on Ellis Island. Definitely plan 5-6 hours if you really want to take your time and see everything.

Nice place to relax and enjoy the views. You can get a nice view of NYC. Looking from this side, it looks like utopia. The Hudson doesn’t disappoint either. Best times for visit are sunset and sunrise. Parking is ample and park is spacious for large groups. Give it a try and you won’t regret it.

Nice walk across from kaos central...
Seems almost tranquil compared to the hustle & bustle of NYC...

After stopping at the Empty Sky Memorial, decided to explore more of the park. Am already looking forward to a return visit. There is a comfortable walkway that overlooks the harbor and Statue of Liberty. The walkway extents from the Empty Sky Memorial at the north end of the park - all the way to the southern end by the Liberation Monument. There are areas along the way for bird watching and great views of the NYC skyline. Well worth the visit. Looking forward to return visits.

Nice and quiet place with excellent views of NYC skyline. A beautiful park to go for a walk and relax.

Went there to catch a ride to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, but ended up checking out the other exhibits.

One of the best places to view the NY skyline. Amazing views. There’s nothing much to do in the Park as such but you can view the old railroad stations before the subways kicked in. Also the Ferry to the Statue of Liberty is less crowded from here than it is from Battery Park, plus they have a 9/11 memorial as well.

There is a ton of parking here and it was only $5 when my wife and i went. It was so easy and simple and we did not have to pay to get into NYC and then to park there. We loved the whole park from beginning to end. Each place was great. Get the audio tours as they add a lot of extra insight. They even have one made especially for children, which my wife and I liked too.

The best view of NYC skyline. Many acres to spread out and relax. Great for runners because it’s flat.

Liberty State Park is a bit of a hidden gem thanks to its location at the outer edge of Jersey City's waterfront, which is best accessed by car. It is a great place from which to view the skyline, enjoy the large children's playground, fly a kite, or embark on a visit to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Visitors take note: don't let the bridge—visible from the parking lot and located a good half mile from the parking lot—fool you into thinking one can actually walk to Ellis Island. An earlier review from 2011 mentioned that there is "no fee for walking" to the island. This is certainly true but it implies that one is actually allowed to walk on the bridge. The bridge is closed to the public and only accessible for business use. The only way for the public to get to Ellis Island is via the ferry. Give yourself plenty of time (at least 10–15 minutes prior to ferry departure time) to purchase tickets in the old train station (and marvel at the remains of its haunted architecture) and to negotiate the security checkpoint.

Just beware if you have a handicapped person, lots of walking to ferry. Bring a wheelchair...Also lots of airport type security. Be Prepared.

we were here for 4th of july/independence day and even early in the morning (7am), there were already people taking stake of their spot. parking lot is pretty big so there were still a lot of spots left even after they closed a section of it off for the party later that night.
there are portable potties at this park. you can bike, fish, grill, fly a kite... walking around the perimeter of the place is good exercise. park terrain is flat so it's great for little ones and elderlies too.

Walked along the waterfront and checked out the view of the Statue of Liberty. Very cool indeed. Good time to go. There are not a lot of people around. You can hangout at the playgrounds if the kids are with you. Great views of the New York skyline. Probably very great views if you can go at night.

If you like history and you have interest how people use to come into our country to live then this is for you

I retired recently and the Park was on my list to visit. It was a beautiful yet blustery day but it didn’t matter because I was so taken with how beautiful the walkway was along the water. It’s really a great place for quiet contemplation. I’ll surely be adding it to my list of places to take my out of town friends.

The park is huge- and the main attraction for us is the wide brick path that ambles along the shore line of the Hudson presenting unforgettable views of Lady Liberty and the NYC skyline. Park in the parking lot adjacent to the boat launch at the southerly end of the park (adjacent to the Liberty National Golf Course) and walk the walk along the water- Take the path to the old train depot. Bring a few lawn chairs to just sit and relax along the brick paver path where you park- Bring water if you plan on taking the full walk- I would estimate that the round trip length of the path to be approximately four miles. You can also ride your bikes there. Either way you will not be dissapointed. ....and.....the price of admission is FREE.

An excellent place to visit. You have the view of New York City, Statue of Liberty, and Jersey City tall buildings, also the 9/11 memorial and a beautiful train station to the world Trade Center.

It was a beautiful sunny day. Where we entered we had a view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. A stroll up the walkway provided beautiful views of Lower Manhattan. Well worth a couple of hours. Easy walking, great views.
The only downside was the couple sunning themselves under a tree with a large cat wearing a sweater they had brought out in a stroller!

Great place to visit. Beautiful, easy bike ride. Lots of benches along the path. A couple picnic areas.

Liberty State Park is a green oasis south of Jersey City. Unfortunately, there is no direct route from Jersey City Harbor to the park. The park is really big and offers good views of downtown Manhattan. Basically, you could also go to Ellis Island, but this entrance was closed. It seems to me that official access is only possible by water. The view of the Lady Liberty was disappointing. On the one hand you are still relatively away, and on the other hand you can only see them from behind. If you come from the city and are looking for a green change, this is certainly the right place. For myself, the park, or the view was rather disappointing.

This park has beautiful views of the city with Ellis Island and The Statue of Liberty in the distance. We took the ferry to Liberty Island and Ellis Island and then rode the ferry to Battery Park. Great views from the top deck. Security similar to airport security before boarding the ferry.

My husband was in Newark from St. Louis for training the week of 9/11. I flew in & met him the 10th to stay the remainder of the trip. This park was an absolute gem. So much green space, and the views were spectacular. We weren't aware of the Empty Sky Memorial. Absolutely breathtaking.
We are so grateful we made time for several trips here to relax and enjoy everything there is to see.

I went here with my 2 kids (2yo, 4mo old). Parking is free, near the playground, which is massive. The walkways are great for strollers, and the views can't be beat.

Liberty State Park is perfectly situated to see the NYC Skyline and East River entry into NYC bay. The lark has good parking facilities at both ends. A walkway along the Hudson River allows you to stroll through marshes filled with wildlife.
As you walk, you will be able to appreciate views of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

It was quiet at 10am for our first leg to Ellis Island. It was reachable in 15 mins with an $8 Lyft. The only downside was we could have managed a decent coffee before the start and there wasn’t a cafe bar there.

Outstanding view and peace of mind while visiting. Great for meditation/yoga/reading etc. catering of the mind.

Parked here on the way to taking the ferry for Statue of Liberty. Certain parts were well maintained but other parts looked run down, much like most of Jersey City, IMO. The landscaping could use work but there was plenty of parking and as you get closer to the water, it gets cleaner by the waterfront.

A beautiful, expansive park, across the Hudson from NYC. The park offers gorgeous views of the Big Apple and downtwon Jersey City, expansive walking/biking trails, lots of open green spaces, two big playgrounds, ferry to Ellis and Liberty Islands, and water sports. One can have a picnic or a lovely meal at the two beautiful restaurants; our family loves the Liberty Restaurant, with its outdoors sitting area, colorful gardens and oversized chess.

Jersey City, the sixth borough, offers an incredible view of Manhattan that you just cannot get standing inside of Manhattan. Liberty State Park gives you that view uninterrupted. The park has great biking trails, nature observatory for children, the Liberty Science Center, fantastic restaurants (The Liberty House/Maritime Parc), perfect picnic spots, and a calm and beautiful walking path on the pier. Plan a few hours there, as it is worth your time.

We did a combination of walking and driving through the park..on two different visits...This would also be an excellent park for jogging and bike riding.....walks near the shoreline were excellent with various scenic views.....always a good wind off the water too......Go to the Liberty House Restaurant if you can...

Great place, and there's more to do than catch a ferry to New York City or the Statue of Liberty. There's playgrounds, monuments, or just walking around. Just be aware of where you walk because of geese - need I say more?

We came here on the day we was leaving NYC to head home for a quick view of the Statue of Liberty. We were pleasantly surprised by the walking path that went right along the waters edge with a great view of both the statue and the city. I wish we had planned an entire day to spend here exploring the walking paths and the bridge over to Ellis island. There was even a cool playground for the kids and several picnic tables

This Park offers stunning views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Manhattan skyline. It's spacious, peaceful, and perfect for walks, picnics, or catching a ferry - an ideal escape from the city's hustle.

Great park with a brand new playground for the kiddos. Nice trails for walking / running / biking as well as a fitness trail. Highly recommend

I had some time before my conference started and a walk through Liberty park was great! While winter is not the most beautiful time for the park, I imagine, it was quiet. Very close up view of the statue from behind.

We went to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and got the ferry from Liberty State Park in Ne Jersey. What a hidden treasure, the building is very historic and there is also a 9-11 memorial there that is both amazing and moving. As most people go from Battery Park this is not a well used and feels like you are stepping back in time.

There's free parking and way faster lines/ticketing/will call than Manhattan - this is a good sized park with fantastic views of Manhattan, staten, Liberty and Ellis Island. Also the empty sky memorial for 9/11 is here .

I live close by the park and bring there always the friends that visit. Everybody is amazed by the view on NYC which for me is the best one. The park has several parking lots with barbecue places. You can admire the view on Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Manhattan, and many more. Definitely a must-see location if you are in Jersey City or nearby

We visited Liberty State Park to go to dinner at the Liberty House Restaurant! It is a very nice park great views of NYC & the Statute of Liberty ! We celebrated our Nephews engagement!

If you are physically fit is ok. The tickets and security are very very far apart. If you are traveling with handicapped family member with limited walking and no wheelchair, is terrible. No option but to walk. The "handicap parking" will make you walk over 700 yards to the ticketing office to were security is located to board the ferry, very frustrating. No courtesy wheel chair, golf car or at least the ability to dropped them off. Not sure about Ellis Island, The Statue of Liberty with valid ID you can use a wheelchair

Relaxing park with an excellent view of the Statue of Liberty. The Flag Point in the Liberty State Park is the closest land mark to the statue. The view is from the side and rear. There is a large picnic area with lots of BBQ grill stands for those
Long weekends.
Parking is free and the park is free to all. There is bathroom facilities at the park. Nice ocean breeze. I really enjoyed it.

Was able to explore the old railroad terminal while waiting in the boat to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The Park was beautiful. Would have liked to have spent more time there.

This was an excellent FREE short excursion between college baseball games. Walked the beautiful promenade along the waterfront with world-class views of the Statute of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Manhattan skyline. Very well kept park with what looks like plenty of great trails and open areas to do just about anything (Adult flag football game going on even). Bring a camera as the views are amazing. It was windy and cold that AM but it was also that time of year.

We took a day trip to check out the new planetarium at the Liberty Science Center. It is the largest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere. The facility is phenomenal. Fantastic sound and projection capabilities. We discovered that LSC currently has a special exhibit about Star Trek. The exhibit was a fun, interactive experience. It housed several artifacts. The Tesla electricity program was also fun and entertaining as well as very educational.

We met several local family members at the Hyatt Regency and walked the Liberty State Park. It was so much fun and was very well set up for visitors to walk and learn.

This 1,212 acre park is a green oasis nestled in an urban setting. Offerings include nature trails, bike paths and a waterfront walkway with amazing views of the New York Harbor, Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline. Ferry service also runs from Liberty State Park to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty.

Liberty state park is a place that all US citizens should visit. The Statue of Liberty is right there. There is a science building. Restaurants marina and a beautiful 911 attraction. Very humble. Don’t miss this.

If you like to take long walks or are looking to get out for some fresh air, this is a great place to walk around and enjoy the view of the NYC skyline. I will note that if you have scheduled a Statue of Liberty tour, you should be prepared to wait in a line half a mile deep and spend a large portion of the day here.

Liberty State Park is located on the shores of the Hudson River allowing for amazing views of the Manhattan skyline. My mother and I needed a break from our road trip and we were pleasantly surprised with the special views of One World Trade Center and the Statue of Liberty. Although we were seeing Lady Liberty’s backside it was still an amazing view. Free parking and clean bathrooms are available next to Flag Plaza near the south end of the park. There we found a shaded picnic area with access to Liberty Walk Promenade. The promenade stretches the entire length of the park running along the river’s edge. The gps I used for this area was 200 Morris Pesin Dr Jersey City. You can also take Freedom Way Dr to the north side of the park to access the Empty Sky 9/11 Memorial and Ferry services. Paid and limited free parking available. My only con is that handicap parking should be closer or allow a drop-off area for the physically challenged. It is a great distance to reach the promenade from the parking areas.

This is like a park. A mini park with benches only,it is. Peaceful and a beautiful view at night more like lovers lane.

This is a great place to escape from JC and see a rare combo of grand NYC veiews and nature as well. Egrets, even seals, and other wildlife have all been spotted in this refuge. Don’t miss out!

This is a lovely, well maintained park with wonderful views of NYC, Jersey City, Ellis Island and of course, the Statue of Liberty. Not only can you delight in the vistas, you can board a ferry to be at the sites. If picnicking is not your thing, there are a couple of nice restaurants nearby. This was my first visit and I was favorably impressed.

Trip Advisor shows Statue of Liberty in NY-we took the ferry from Liberty State Park. Great spot to hang out with the best view of the city, but also a nice place to get the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Elllis Island. Would love to spend more time walking, riding bike, exploring RR terminal-unexpected gem!

I had a 6 hour layover at Newark EWR Airport and instead of spending the whole 6 hours at the airport took Uber to Liberty Park as it was a nice day with plenty of sunshine. While at the park, spent time at the 9/11 Memorial, took in the city skyline along with plenty of panoramic photos, walked along the trail with views of Ellis Island and then checked out the old Train Terminal. After 2 hours at the park, took Uber back to the airport with plenty of time to spare.

Beautiful park with lots of area for walking and biking trails. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of signage indicating where you are in relation to the ferry or other areas of the park.

We took our grandchildren here while camping nearby. The playground is excellent with bathrooms nearby. We parked in the free lot near the equipment
Later we parked in the 2 hour zone to find the area for our will call tickets for Statue of Liberty tour.

Trip to Ellis Island and the statue were fantastic! But really Jersey! We waited over a half an hour to get out of parking lot. May I suggest you collect cost on the way in? Or better yet— at $30 a person (basically to get into a National Park site that is a free admission!) just have the parking be free!

This is a place with one of the best (if not the best) places to view and take pictures of the NYC skyline. You get to see Ellis Island, Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, etc. and have the opportunity to take some amazing pictures of the city. There is easy access to the park by car and there are parking lots and trails for you to enjoy the scenery. I was there around noon but I bet it is an amazing place to visit during the sunset and sunrise.

This park has great views of the Manhattan skyline, Newark skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and much more. Lots of room to walk on waterfront pathways. Take in the views. It is also a great launching point to Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, and Manhattan.

Came up here with family to avoid hurricane Dorian. With my family off doing other things, I went to liberty Park to Geocache. I would recommend biking it it’s kind of a big park. But I walked it and spent a full day out there Geocaching. If you don’t know what Geocaching is, look it up. If you do there are some great earth Geocaches nearby and some magnificent views of the city and Statue of Liberty and NYC . Recommended.

Great views of the NYC skyline and the statue of liberty. Great climbing frames and picnic areas, still parking, and water fountains need to be upgraded.

If you get an opportunity to check out this park, I think this is one you have to see. I started towards the south end and from there you can see the Statue of Liberty very easily. As you walk along the waterfront you eventually get to Ellis Island and the incredible old (1830s) railroad station.
I ended up walking almost three miles and there is plenty more walking you can do if you really want to. The views are amazing and iconic. On the day I went there were surprisingly few people there.
If you added in some ferry trips to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, it is certainly something you could spend an entire day on, if not longer.
Parking was easy and free where I parked.
Well worth stopping by.

Just across from the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and parts of NYC, this park boasts beautiful views, lots of grassy space, and plenty of opportunity to enjoy the fabulous scenery and stretch your legs.

Have never been here before but better signage of where to turn and park plus where to go after parking is needed. My tickets said my time for security was at 8:00. At 8:30, the security is still closed down and we are all standing in a line with no instruction as to what is going on.

Although it was cold we decided to take a drive to the park to see Statue of Liberty.
We also saw the sun setting in the city.
Within the park is also a tribute to 911. The silver walls are massive. It was worth the stop. So majestic and beautiful.

A beautiful park for couples, whether you are strolling along the waterfront, or running the circuit stations, this is a relaxing spot. At the water's edge, you can view the Statue of Liberty at your right, and see the skyline lit up, toward your left. We only stayed a little while, but it was worth the drive from West Orange, NJ. Have a picnic there and stay awhile. Kids would love it, too!

it was amazing I got to see the fireworks it was so nice that I wanted to take the ferry there and go to the concert but I had work the next day

I went to Liberty State Park with someone special and it was really so experience. I was so happy to be there. Oh God ! You fullfilled my wish. Thank you so much

Lots to see here. Great views of the NYC skyline! Lots of walking trails. I especially enjoyed the Empty Sky memorial and the old train terminal.
There are bathroom facilities available and there was lots of parking on the day we visited.

Great park with plenty of amenities. They have a separate kids and picnic area. Hiking and bike trails that are easily accessible. The Skyline is awesome of NYC. I would suggest going at night to really appreciate the views

The bird sanctuary at Caven Point is awesome, be sure to follow the trail and visit the beach where you will feel like you are in the countryside vs NYC Hudson shoreline. Wonderful park for families.

Stopped in for the view of the city and the experience znc seeing the city the 911 memorial . Very Solomon

We came to snap some pics for the NYC skyline and get a far view of The Statue of Liberty. Stumbled upon the old train station (now used as visitor center) and the New Jersey September 11th memorial.

The RV park is fine but it’s convenient location to ferry and subway make it a fabulous stay. And the Liberty State Park in general is fabulous: great biking!

I'm glad I took the suggestion of the many reviews I had read advising to go to the Statue of Liberty from Liberty State Park. It was a little hard finding it. The address doesn't direct you that close to the park entrance. Thankfully,, our Uber driver didn't want to just leave us stranded and was willing to drive more to get us to a better spot.
The park is nice and it was sobering but wonderful to see the 9/11 memorial of those from New Jersey who perished that day.
There was a line but it wasn't badly crowded. More signage to the park and more signage of where to go for the tour would be very helpful. We wandered for a while trying to figure out where to go.

Went for some alone time. It was very peaceful, clean and relaxing. Great parking and exercise equipment in the back along the trail

Easy parking. Easy access to ferry tickets for the Statue of Liberty. $18 for visitors 12 and up. The lines may seem long, but it goes fast. First stop is Ellis Island, and you can easily spend up to 4 hours here. Next stop is the Statue of Liberty and you can spend at least 2 hours here, without going up into the Statue. Ferry returns you back to Liberty State Park. Expect large crowds, even during the week.

We were delighted as we approached the Garden area, Beautiful Flags were flying, we found there an impressive Large Soldier carrying a wounded victim. The clean fresh well maintained area made for a lovely time for my family. The peaceful quiet area and the sound of the water against rocks as the wind blew just truly making everything perfectly right. The sky was overcast but Liberty did not dissapoint us, it was excitting to look at her with the pride we each hold fast to. Later going to Battery Park we found Liberty Park to give a closer view even without her face Liberty was breath taking. A great family Memory!

Great park with a beautiful view of the city and Statue of Liberty nice trails for walking, biking 🚴♀️ or running 🏃♀️.
Fun park for kids and family to have picnics .
Clean and safe I would recommend it ⭐️

This is a very large park on the New York Harbor with terrific views. It is close to the city, great way to see the Statue and some wonderful views of the Manhattan skyline.

I've watched this park become more and more beautiful over the years! The Science Museum nearby is so awesome! We went on a windy cold day and still enjoyed ourselves! It's a must see for anyone visiting Jersey City! Do whatever you can to walk the park and have a picnic, take selfies with the NYC skyline!

The best place to take a ferry to go to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The park is beautiful and clean and you can see the New York skyline!!!

Went to Liberty State Park mainly to see & take pictures of Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty.
We did that, but enjoyed the 9/11 memorial for New Jersey & the old Central Railroad of New Jersey
Terminal as well. It is hauntingly beautiful!

took the ferry to the statue of liberty and ellis island from here. was easy to get tickets. lines were not long.

Amazing park. Absolutely stunning view of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty/Ellis island. It feels like you are in a 3D postcard. Healthy 3mile walk sipping coffee with our elderly beagle. She loved the high grass and trees next to the walking path. Felt great for her paws to be off the pavement for a while. I highly recommend this for any visitor to the area.

The boat ride, Statue of liberty and Ellis Island. All kinds of people go. Make sure you buy a fresh lemonade. You are not allowed to bring bags or back packs to the buildings. you need to put them in a locker, which you must pay for.

We visited the Statue of Liberty through the Statue Cruises that comes from the Liberty State Park in New Jersey. You will have the best view of Manhattan from the Liberty State Park. There is a free 2 hr parking, not ferry parking.

It's a long walk into the park it you do not have a car and take the light rail. We enjoyed our walk and the views. Was very calm and nice

Huge park, neat and clean park. One can see the new york skyline from here. Ferry service for Ellis island and Statue of liberty start from here. There's a memorial for 9/11 also.

Statue City Cruises is the only company that ferries you to both islands. The departure from Liberty State Park is easy. Lots of free parking and much less crowded than the New York City side. If you are already in NJ, this is the way to go! Reasonable prices too for the ferry and a very workable schedule to both islands.

the ticketing for the ferry can be a bit complicated. Obviously the weather can play havoc with your visit, so pick a mild day and realize the you are on the water. Also, avoid busy or peak times.

I spend about half my life in this park. It is huge, well maintained, and has a beautiful river walk with HANDS DOWN the best views of the NYC skyline you can get. The World Trade Center memorial is amazing, and the ferries take off from here for the Statue of Liberty for tourists who want to visit.
I run anywhere from 40 to 50km every week in this park and I never stop being awestruck by its beauty. I feel lucky to live so close to a place like this. I especially recommend taking a stroll along the river at night on a full moon :)

I'd been here about 20 years ago. Hadn't thought much of returning, not because it was bad, but because I just forget about it. It's so close, you just don't think of going.
So we want to go biking, but heading inland or to the shore when a storm is coming - bad idea.
Why not stay local? Great choice - Liberty State Park is an AWESOME ride. It's not challenging at all, it's flat, so if you're not in great shape, it's fine. But so much to see! Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Manhattan, I forgot the sabotage of Black Tom Island is a key feature (always overlooked - but I FOUND IT!!), and the ride is just plain fun. We rode beneath the funniest cage by the golf course, and when you look up you can see where golf balls have hit the cage by the little dents.
The old train terminal is pretty cool - I wish they'd fix it up and make something of it.
A great, fun day of bike riding. We did 9 1/2 miles in one lazy hour of riding. You can pick up the pace if you're into pushing it...but we weren't. We were enjoying the sights and smells (oh...charcoal, hot dogs...what a great memories those smells bring back) of a fun place to go with family.

When you think of going to the Statue of Liberty, you think of getting on the ferry at Battery Park. Let me encourage you to head to the island from the Jersey side! Liberty State Park is easily accessed and has MUCH shorter lines for the ferry in comparison! Plus you have a beautiful old train station to explore and jaw-dropping views of the Manhattan skyline from this side of the Hudson! The historic train station is absolutely stunning. What a beauty! Take time to enjoy it before you board the ferry.
My only tips to help you out are these: (1) Get your driver to take you all the way to the water's edge before getting out of the car. You'll see the historic train station and know you're in the right spot. If you get out where GPS tells you to go, you'll have quite a hike to get to the train station. (2) If you've already got your tickets, you can bypass the train station and go straight through the white security tent (which is located to the right side of the station as you're looking at the river). If you don't have your tickets, you must go to the desk inside the train station. (3) Make sure you plan to arrive early! There are no employees to point you in the right direction, and it can be a bit confusing to find where you're supposed to go. If you're late, you'll miss the ferry and have to take the next one. (4) Take the earliest ferry option available. The later in the day you wait, the more people that are going to pile on the boat with you.

The park was clean. The area was setup for travelers. The site had some historic buildings. It is a good walk from the car to the ferry, but certainly doable.

LOVED IT!! What a great way to get outside, walk and see some monuments. I spent a good part of my day here. It was just a beautiful day to stroll...a great breeze off the water side and then I found some exercise stations on the road side. Parking was free!!

Best to stay in Jersey City or Hoboken to access this place. Very nice big park with access to the old train station where immigrants came from Ellis Island. Fair bit of parking.
First stop on the Statue Cruises is Ellis Island followed by the Statue of Liberty. It takes no time to get to either site.

So cool to think how much of our history and culture passed through here. The views of the skyline and of both Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty are amazing. The park is wide open and wonderful. There is a great boardwalk all along the river great for walking running or just relaxing

This park has the best view in the world! It is situated right across the river from the Freedom Tower/financial district. You can also see the Empire State Building from here as well as the Statue of Liberty. In addition to this, there’s also a lot of grassy areas to fly kites, have picnics, lay down to read a book, etc. There are walking/cycling trails, playgrounds for the kids, as well as multiple parking lots.

Liberty State Park is an absolute gem, on the waterfront. The view of the NYC skyline is breathtaking, as is the Empty Sky Memorial to those, from NJ, lost on 9/11/01. There are paths for walking or bicycling, and plenty of places to just sit and relax.

This is a great place to bring children. Very fun and educational. They even offer overnight stays for a more intimate experience.

Went as a family with young kids in late September 2018. We came too late to enter the statue of Liberty and did not want to spend $100+ just to take the ferry to the island. We stayed on grounds and had a wonderful two hours. There is a great picnic and playground area (brand new with real bathroom facilities) in the middle of the park and we spent about an hour there. We then moved over to the southern end of the park where you can walk along the boardwalk with a view of the Statue of Liberty. I was calming and relaxing.

So people in RV’s are NOT ALLOWED to park in lots 3 & 4 according to a cop, over a mile away and have to pay when otherwise it’s free to park. Only gave it a 2 bc the cop allowed us 15 minutes to run to see the statue, and you can only see the back of it, ugh. Not worth driving on crappy roads and all the traffic to get there.

This is a beautiful park, spacious and very well maintained. Great view of NYC skyline and Statue of Liberty. Also has a 9-11 memorial in the park. Instead of struggling with driving and parking in the city, would highly recommend taking the ferry from Liberty Landing to New World Trade Center, and explore NYC from there.

Nice walking area and beautiful view of NYC. Would recommend visiting. Very clean and well maintained.

If you want to visit NYC and avoid the cost of driving, this is a good option, go there and take the ferry to NY ($7usd single trip), the only down side it's that the last shuttle departs at 7:45pm from NCY, if you miss that you'll have to use other means to get back here if you leave your car parked here. Great option to leive the real New Yorker commute.
Perfect spot to soak in spectacular views of NYC and relax.
Great for families, couples or alone. Bring a picnic and take a long walk or rent bicycles. Busy on the weekends, especially afternoon. Nicer during quieter times. I live locally and ride my bike here multiple times a week. Feels like a vacation! Easy to access without a car but a bit of walking involved.
