A Bit of Peace and Quite in a College Town

By HoustonTripTaker |

The Little Chapel in the Woods is located on the campus of Texas Woman's University. It is just inside the entrance and does not require any special permissions to visit. The church is quaint and beautiful with many architectural details. It sits in a slightly wooded area just of the parking lot. Looking like a set from a wedding movie, it is an ideal place to have a picnic or sit and meditate for a while. The upstairs balcony offers a lovely viewpoint of the stained glass.

I was married there in 1986. I'm still married. Must have worked.

By Peabodytex |

Old stone chapel in the woods. Now featuring air conditioning. You will have great memories if you choose this for your wedding. Lots of parking nearby. Quaint. Not too big, not too small. For the unpretentious wedding planners.

Family wedding

Went to the chapel for a wedding. It was cute and intimate. Would recommend for small ceromities. Not alot of room

Architectural "Jewel Box" in Denton

By Triaero |

If you are interested in Texas regional architecture be sure to stop by and examine the Little Chapel in the Woods, designed b y O'neal Ford. You will admire its beauty and its simplicity.

Nice walk with the family

By Carly B |

My husband and I took our small children and we parked near the University and just walked to the chapel. The walk was leading up to the Chapel was beautiful as well not just the Chapel alone. We didn't stay long. Took some pictures and we left. Just it was a nice time with my family.

Noth worth the trip

By edcmoverman |

Nice little Chapel - but not worth the trip - parking is bad - and directions to the Chapel is bad. I have seen many Chapel all over the world. Pass on this and visit the Court house.

Wedding Location in August of 1991

By Jason S |

My bride of 25 years and I were married in this little chapel and was one of the most wonderful places for a wedding as I can imagine. From the handcrafted wood interior to the incredible stain glassed windows this little church has a palatable warmth and quiet beauty that no larger church can compete with. After 25 years of happy marriage we visited the Little Chapel, just the two of us, and took our places from those many years ago and privately renewed our vows.

My bride and I highly recommend The Little Chapel in the Woods for those that wish for a small, elegant, and intimate wedding.

The name says it all!

By IrishTraveler2014 |

We had my daughter's wedding here and it was PERFECT. We had everyone seated with the doors closed and then the organ started to play and the doors were thrown open and there she stood with her father, bathed in light. It was a beautiful, dramatic moment. It lends itself well to all the pictures and the outside grounds are very pretty too. All in all, we could not have asked for a better venue

Gorgeous!

By PUDTP |

We had our wedding here and loved everything about it. Seating is limited, but very intimate. Stained glasses beautiful at sunset.

Got Married Here!!

By ScrappinSportzMom |

I went to school at TWU and lived in the dorms that tower over the Little Chapel in the Woods. It's a lovely old fashioned chapel. The lighting can be a little dark, so if you want pictures, make sure the photographer has the ability and appropriate equipment to take nice pictures.

Quiet time

By ElaineandJim A |

Stopped by here to have quiet mediation time. It is very beautiful and serene. It is easier to find parking when there are no college classes.

Very beautful and worth seeing

By Irish4love |

My boyfriend is an architect and is familiar with O'Neil Ford, who designed this chapel in 1939. We were impressed with the workmanship and detail as well as the renovation done in 2001. The setting is picturesque and perfect for a wedding or any special service.

Cute

By RBuddies |

I went to the chapel for service and it was very nice in there. Very small too. However there were two things that were disappointing. The booths were wobbly and every time you sat down on it, it would creek. Also, it is hard to hear the speaker in there. Need microphones or a speaker system. Overall it was nice and cute and I could feel the lord’s presence.

Do take the time to stop!

By Susan M |

I was with my son-in-law and two granddaughters for a day in Denton and after driving around the Courthouse Square this was an impulse stop. I had read about the Chapel and wasn't sure my family would enjoy it. But we were close... So glad we stopped! We had the place to ourselves which was especially nice. The stained glass windows are wonderful. We all enjoyed our time in the Chapel for different reasons. My youngest granddaughter loved walking around the rock garden next to the Chapel. A lovely visit!

This is a fabulous venue. We attended a wedding reception here and so enjoyed the rustic surroundings and large ballroom.

Lovely Historic Chapel

By Violet D |

The lovely and historic "Little Chapel in the Woods" on the TWU campus in Denton, TX is really a must-see. It's a stone chapel built entirely by a group of TWU students in the 1930s, and Eleanor Roosevelt spoke at the dedication. It's a small chapel (seats about 125), but it's an absolutely gorgeous place for a wedding (our son was married there). However, if you're thinking of planning a wedding there, you should know that it is highly sought-after, and you should make reservations far in advance (TWU students get a discounted rate). The acoustics are amazing in the chapel (you don't even need a sound system) and the lighting through the stained glass windows is really breathtaking. The gardens just outside the chapel also provide a beautiful photo spot for families and couples.

Beautiful Chapel

By TexasMomkp |

We loved visiting this Chapel nestled in the trees. The stained glass was stunning! Reading about the history was fun too!

An Architectural Delight

By kathy r |

I am admittedly prejudiced about the charm of this historical gem as I was married here over 50 years ago. It has stood the test of time and is as lovely now as when it was built. It is a must see!

A beautiful chapel on TWU campus

By RON T |

I've attended many weddings and ither services in the chapel. It's a beautiful setting nestled in the woods on the TWU campus. It would provide comfortable seating for probably 100-125 people.

Lovely venue for a small wedding

By Txpoolgirl |

This is a jewel of a non-denominational chapel in the heart of TWU campus. Very unique and a fabulous local for a small wedding.

Visited this chapel many times on campus

By R0430 |

I attended TWU for 3 years finally graduating in May. I would always walk in this little chapel as a way just to take a break from the stress of classes. Such a nice little chapel, my only regret is not witnessing a wedding in it.

Beautiful, peaceful - just what the name says - Chapel in the Woods.

By RoseBowlTraveler |

I believe it was recently renovated/preserved but is a beautiful little gem on the TWU campus - which is a lovely place to stroll.

Check out the little pond next to Chapel - home to dozens of turtles that like to hang out on the rocks getting some sunshine.

Stained glass galore

By 490fitness |

Located on the campus at the Texas Women's University.....just park and walk through. There was one attendant there however, they were going over wedding plans with a couple. What a neat historical church. So beautiful and seeing the architecture was astounding. It's been named one of Texas' most outstanding architectural achievements. It was built during the great depression by O'Neil Ford. It is open to public with no fee

A Refuge Within The City

By Big Boss |

This small, intimate chapel is designated one of Texas' 20 most outstanding architectural achievements by the Texas Society of Architects. Located on the campus of Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. I believe it is the only chapel in the state and nation to only feature women in its stained glass windows. A very special spot to contemplate in silence and tranquility removed from the noise of the city.

Absolutely Beautiful

By DianneK |

Little Chapel in the Woods is located on the TWU campus. Designed by O'Neil Ford, it was dedicated by Eleanor Roosevelt in 1939. Many choose the chapel for their wedding location since it is so quaint and provides a beautiful backdrop. It is also a great place just to visit and reflect. If you visit the Denton area, this is a good place to send some time.

Beautiful chapel

By Jess_T_Hogue |

We are Denton natives who happened to be on the TWU campus for an event. We came upon the Little Chapel as we were leaving and decided to see if it was open and IT WAS! Lovely interior with gorgeous stained glass. A couple of years later, we had the privilege of attending a wedding there. WOW! The Chapel really came alive.

Great place to go visit.

By cadillacartandframe |

This is a great place to go visit located at Texas Woman's University in Denton Texas. So if you're in an area..stop by..

The title says it all!

By annh0ust0n |

It is definitely "a little chapel in the woods." Still, it is on the TWU campus, nestled in a beautiful little garden area and surrounded by native oak trees. Perfect setting for small meaningful events such as weddings, honorariums or memorials. The nearby town center of Denton, TX is filled with all levels of restaurants...from beer gardens to fine dining and music to go with everything. Often called "Little Austin", it is a charming place.

I stopped by to pray one lovely day!

By John T |

If you want an awesome place to get alone with the Lord...this is a very wonderful little chapel on the campus of Texas Women's Univ. in Denton, TX

By andersst0921 |

At first glace from outside I was not sure. It looked so small. I toured the beautiful grounds first. It has a small nature trail and a pond full of about a bunch of turtles. Which I thought was very neat. Then I went into the chapel to be overwhelmed by its simplistic beauty. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend seeing it! Just call to make sure there isn't a wedding going on.

Nice chapel for a wedding

By S6blr |

We visited it due to a family wedding and found it pleasant though a bit sparsely apportioned. You need to get there EARLY for a wedding or you'll have a trek in the heat if its summer.

Quaint, Special

By SCUBA_Fletch |

I got married in this chapel in 1993 - and it is one of the most beautiful and quaint chapels around, located on the Texas Women's University campus. Beautiful stained glass windows with details of the Proverbs 31 woman, it's the perfect place for a SMALL wedding. We did just that, and had a big reception nearby at Hubbard Hall.

Cute little chapel

By EnigmaPDX |

I was here for a wedding and it was perfect size for a small wedding party. Stained glass windows are very pretty. Chapel is a little dark, making photography challenging, but can be done.

By Maggie and Carl M |

It is on the campus of my former school, and I love going there as it brings many good memories to my mind.

Great Backdrop for Pictures!

By SpikeRudy |

The Little Chapel is nestled in a beautiful, natural setting on TWU's campus. It is a favorite area for professional and amateur photographers alike to snap wedding, prom and senior pictures. Different settings are clustered within close proximity- there's a pond with a bridge, a rustic rocky trail, tall trees with lush clearings, etc. We took senior pictures and promo pictures there. It does get busy for prom, however. Hundreds of people were at the scene at the same time, so there was a wait for some of the more popular spots.

Wonderful place for a wedding.

By Stewfoot |

A beautiful break chapel that shoes the historic roots of Denton and the Texas Woman's Normal School (now the Texas Woman's University.) A wonderful chapel for a wedding or other religious ceremony. Very open with good acoustics.

Great for weddings

By txabby |

The atmosphere. Love to play my harp there and the organ also it is a fantastic instrument sounds like some of the pipe organs in the cathedrals in Europe.

preppy

By ssss |

So like its giving preppylicous vibe but like at the same time it's giving the conjuring movie so like idk. but like I lvd it

Hallowed Ground

By Letha D |

This beautiful chapel is open generous hours. For an historic location, it's nice not to have shortened hours. It feels, instead, like it's open for all who need a moment's solace. My daughter's wedding was held in this chapel 2 years ago. The University (Texas Woman's University) was very helpful and professional in planning our event. But, more importantly, once inside you can feel the spirit of the students and other souls who've come in here with love. Gorgeous and meaningful stained glass windows. Soaring ceiling. It feels much larger inside than it looks from the outside. Beautiful setting under majestic trees = wonderful and quiet picnic spot.

Little Chapel

By Susan M |

O'Neil Ford designed this small chapel on the TWU campus. I have been going to this chapel for over 60 years. It is a beautiful place for a small wedding. The surrounding grounds are well landscaped and the tulips in spring are magnificent.

Little Chapel at TWU

By Leslie1957 |

I've played in and attended many weddings and events in this chapel. It has a unique and charming atmosphere which is perfect for weddings or other services.

By The-Randall-Clan |

If you are on the TWU campus it is worth stopping and checking it out. Not sure how this is making the top rating or the rave reviews. Much of the restoration work deteriorated from the experience IMO. Still if you are there it is worth seeing for a few minutes and getting a few good pictures.

Little But Awesome

By i_am_brendanc |

The TWU campus is quite beautiful. The Little Chapel in the Woods is located in a nice, well treed (the woods) part of the campus. As a local, I've been here for a variety of reasons; weddings, musical performances and just visiting while enjoying the environment. The chapel was designed by O'Neil Ford, an architect popular for designing many structures in the region. If you're a Denton resident and you've not been here, you really need to get out of your house and do something. If you're visiting Denton, stop by the Little Chapel in the Woods. The Chapel and the grounds around it are quite nice.

Great Modernist Stained Glass

By Richard Selby |

For a state obsesses with 'big', Texas can does small chapels surprisingly well. This was buit post Workd War 2, so it is modernist in design. Lovely tranquil atmosphere. Great architcture. Exceptional stained glass windows. And sited in a pleasant corner of the TWU campus. If you've made it this far, do visit the TWU library which is next door.

Beautiful setting on Texas Women's University

By Steve M |

The Little Chapel in the Woods is a rustic, peaceful setting. I have attended several weddings held in the Chapel.

Don't Understand the Hype

By youngini |

This is just an unremarkable little building on the north edge of TWU campus. Maybe I'm just an old philistine, but it does nothing for me. We had family photos taken in the grounds surrounding the chapel. It's a nice location for photos. But the chapel itself . . . I don't think it's worth a trip to north Denton.

Charming

By Lynda V |

In this new age of Large wedding venues it's still nice to go to a wedding in this beautiful old chapel. I've only been to two weddings here but they have been my favorites for ambiance.

Beautiful!

By Shelly M |

This chapel was beautiful! I loved the stain glass windows and it was set in a wooded area. Great for a church service or a small wedding.

A must see

By Kate S |

Beautiful, woman empowering site. Nestled in TWU's rock garden and other landscaping.

Must visit

By Laurie W |

This is a special place for us. Our daughter was married here, as well as a number of friends over many years. We've also attended a few memorial services. It is best on a sunny day to fully appreciate the stained glass windows, made by TWU students, under faculty supervision and design many years ago. The date is inaccurate, there was no way in the program to put in all the dates over the last almost 30 years that I have visited this landmark.

Beautiful little chapel...

By southpadre17 |

This is a beautiful little chapel.. The name fits it perfectly... My son and daughter in law were married in the chapel... It is beautiful inside with it's stained glass windows ... Nice tile floors and old wooden church pews.. I went back again a few months ago to attend another wedding.

So beautiful you want to stay

By ArtGlassEnsembles |

One of the real treasures in Denton. The stained glass windows are so beautiful, and the stonework and woodwork of the architecture make this an oasis of cool and calm and tranquility. I've performed chambre music here and the accoustics are fabulous too. Weddings are intimate and stunningly beautiful. My sister was married here. Always a joy to visit.

Interesting

By RbrtH |

Nice place to visit if you are on campus. I've attended several weddings there and it makes a great wedding venue, but otherwise not a lot to see. You can probably see it all in less than 30 minutes.

By Mir T |

VERY beautiful place! Old wooden pews, incredibly high ceilings, and a decent size stage considering the size of the place. Small rooms in the back for dressing before wedding, etc. Set on beautiful grounds that are always nicely maintained. Parking is horrible when classes are in session (on campus at TWU).

TWU has a gem in its midst!!

By peppermama |

Little Chapel in the Woods is on the campus of Texas Woman's University. Built in 1939 it is still in perfect shape. Beautiful stained glass and a little staircase to the balcony. Lots of weddings are performed here. A must see if you are visiting Denton, TX! Free to visit.

Lovely and picturesque

By WKW123 |

The chapel is well known as a beautiful backdrop for weddings, formal photos, and private events in Denton. Located on the Texas Woman's University campus, with limited parking.

A unique gem in North Texas

By Aubree E |

This chapel makes me proud to be an woman and also to work at TWU. The stained glass inside is not like anything I've seen anywhere in the world. It represents women over time.

Beautiful... But don't go out of your way

By ktmoefun |

While the chapel is beautiful for events and nestled in a great part of campus with gorgeous landscaping, I would not call this an attraction. Great venue for small weddings, but not a site worth visiting for no reason.

A Real Gem!!

By Tupelo010835 |

Denton is fortunate to have such a really cool little place. Even during the hottest days of the summer it's pleasant to visit the chapel and the grounds around the chapel. I especially love the expansive Crepe Myrtles that are close by. I'm told that booking the chapel requires doing so WELL in advance.
Very Neat Place!!

Wedding

By Momma P |

This is one of the most beautiful wedding venues Denton Texas has to offer. It is small, but oh so quaint. Parking is limited unless you want to walk a little ways.

If you are interested, make your reservations early. It is in high demand.

Small but Beautiful

By RCollins13 |

Nice place for quiet meditation; stained glass is both historic and beautiful. May have trouble parking nearby, but it's a short walk to the visitor parking by the student center.

The Whole Experience Exceeded Our Expectations - Add it to Your List

By bprsurf |

This is not like a beautiful fancy Cathedral you come across in Europe - but if you are looking for a little adventure and a pleasant way to experience and attraction, you'll love this. The hardest part is parking for this place - you need to find it on a nearby street (see below). Beyond that - its not just a beautiful chapel with stained glass, but a lovely walk past a beautiful greenhouse, over a bridge with turtles waiting to be fed, and a path filled not only with lovely flowers but also stones filled with fossils. Its really a great little trip for the whole family that shouldn't take more than an hour.
Hint #1: Use the corner of N. Oakland and Austin street (this is S.W. of the chapel)
Hint #2: Walk toward the chapel past the dorms and beautiful greenhouse to the park.
Hint #3: Bring some lettuce to feed the turtles when you cross the bridges over the large pond.
Hint#4: Take the path through the garden instead of the concrete walk and parking lot. While on it enjoy the flowers and stones filled with fossils.
Great family outing or Romantic stroll and maybe picnic.

Beautiful!

By Carla |

It's really such a beautiful little chapel. Saw this while visiting my friends at TWU. The interior is amazing and the exterior is too! It looks like that of a children's book.
If you're nearby TWU, stop and take a look!
You'll be glad you did!

Wedding!

By HailsPayne |

We recently had our wedding ceremony at the Little Chapel in the Woods. It is such a special and magical place. They have open visiting hours through the week as long as there is not a special event. My wedding was everything I can possibly hope for. The Chapel was gorgeous, and the building attendant, Anne, was invaluable. Without her, I'm not sure what I would've done!

Beautiful for a wedding!

By bkono |

We just came back from a wedding that we helped to throw, and this church was the most amazing setting for it! It is quaint, but not overly small as it may appear to be. The glass windows and candles all along the rows and behind the stage added the most beautiful touch, plus there are rooms for both a bride and groom on either side, as well as a back door entrance for both. There are three private spots in the back, but they lead right into the back entrance of where our bride was for easy access.

I loved this church, it was stunning and made her feel like a princess!

great wedding venue

By laniecraig |

My parents got married here 46 years ago. Such a beautiful little unknown gem. It is super tiny but has great views and serves as a wonderful place to say your vows.

Beautiful little jewel of a chapel.

By Siefkindo |

Wonderful place for a wedding or memorial. The gardens are beautiful, too. My daughter married there and on 20th wedding anniversity went back and took pics with hubby holding pics of wedding. Cute idea.

TWU historical site

By BlueberryBuckle |

This is a historical site on the campus of Texas Women's University. It is very cute. I advise taking the tour of the university, it includes the chapel. My daughter was looking at colleges and she was excited to see the chapel on the campus.

Little Chapel in the Woods - A Great Place to Wed

By Janet B |

Are you planning a small intimate wedding in Denton, Texas. If so, The Little Chapel in the Woods should be your choice for location. Located on the campus of Texas Women's University it is small buy extremely cozy. The surrounding grounds also offer multiple ideal locations for saving your day in pictures.

Not what I expected

By PrettyLady4u |

Perhaps I didn't know where I was going (but it's small) and I didn't see much to it. In my opinion it was boring.

Lovely Chapel

By John W |

Scheduled daughters wedding at the TWU chapel, beautiful facility for small weddings. Staff was great, wonderful time at TWU. As the chapel is located by numerous dorms parking is a problem, recommend you park across the street in large parking lot. Restroom facilities for men is also a problem...as they don't exist, really. Just remember its a Women's university and you'll be alright...ha

While visiting here, check out the TWU library!!

By Cedar F |

This little unassuming building was stunning on the inside. Worth a quick visit. While you are here, visit the equally stunning Texas Womens University Library! WOW!

Attended a Wedding

By Ruth G |

Attended a wedding that was lovely. The chapel is quaint and beautiful. It was the perfect size for a small wedding not too cramped.

Quaint little church in the woods

By darcykim |

Beautiful little church right smack on the grounds of the university. I was expecting it to be a little more secluded.

Needs some improvement

By Rosalee R |

The wait was very long and the food was bad. It was a wedding party so of course it was slower than it probably ever was.

The place

By Rob H |

If you are trying to find a classic place for a marriage in Denton County this is it. This is simply a treasure in this region and to share with your family and friends will be a true treat for all! It's also a good place to do photos as the garden area is quite nice too.

Inspiring spot

By LDOtraveler |

Walking up to the chapel I can see myself sitting down under any of those amazing trees with a book! The chapel is very unique and the history very interesting, everything inside is an art piece!

Beautiful setting for an intimate wedding

By ster313 |

Beautiful setting for an intimate wedding. A lovely place tucked on the campus of TWU in Denton, Texas

By Sandra D |

A dear friend had her wedding at this chapel. It's a beautiful chapel with an intimate feel. There are large trees and nice landscaping around it, which allow for great pictures.

Son's wedding

By J S |

It was a lovely, stained glass chapel, perfect for a small, intimate wedding. On the Women's campus of the University, and built by women, it is gorgeous and has an impressive organ.

What a gem-- such a nice find!

By Debbie M |

Wow! We discovered this gem at a recent family wedding. What a wonderful wedding setting! A small intimate chapel, gorgeous trees, award winning architecture. We then followed with a nice reception at Hubbard Hall.

Beautiful and intimate for weddings

By gen07 |

Been to a couple of weddings Here. A fabulous old chapel. Just a wonderful ambience for the place. So personal.

Beautiful Gardens

By Amanda T |

We have visited the Chapel several times. It is surrounded by a beautiful landscape which is perfect for taking pictures. It is also a great place for an afternoon picnic.

Cute chapel and surrounding area

By Hilary M |

This is a small, but cute little chapel on the TWU campus. Right next to the chapel is a little walking path through a small picturesque flower garden. It looked like there would normally be a fountain flowing through this area, but it was not on the day we visited. There were several turtles in a nearby pond that were fun for kids to watch. This place is free and a nice spot to visit.

Very peaceful!

By Ashley R |

Great place to go and get your mind off of things. It is extremely small but it's peaceful. It's located on the TWU campus. If you get lucky you might even see a wedding take place!

Quiet reflection

By Kathy S |

The chapel is located on the Texas Woman's University grounds. It is a beautiful little chapel and a step back in time. This is a place for some quiet reflection. Well worth the visit.

Beautiful intimate setting for a small wedding

By efloriani |

The chapel is on the campus of Texas Women's University in Denton TX. It is small and intimate, but still has stained glass windows and a real sanctuary. There is even an organ to play the traditional wedding music. We felt so close to the wedding couple and the other guests because of the size of the venue. The outdoor surroundings have greenery, flowering bushes and trees and a few statues surrounded by stone benches. The photographer noted that you'd never know that you're on a college campus and there were many settings that offered beautiful backgrounds for wedding pictures. We will remember this wedding for a long time.

One Of Texas' Greatest Architectual works.

By Watch Dog Never Sleeps |

Upon entering the chapel in 2007, I knew that this is where I would exchange my wedding vows. On December 26, 2015, I did so. I was awe struck by it's beauty from first sight. Built by TWU students, and dedicated by Eleanor Roosevelt in 1939. A must see if your stopping in Denton, TX.

Little Gem

By TexasBuddy01 |

Of course, I may be partial because I had my wedding here in the summer of 2008 but this little chapel is absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful architecture and stunning stain glass crafted by the students of TWU make this chapel one of a kind. The grounds surrounding the chapel are just as beautiful and a great place for portraits to be taken.

Cute small chapel

By ksufan88 |

We arrived on campus on a Friday morning and parked in the recommended parking lot (from the chapel’s website). We were pleased to find plenty of available parking spots. It was then a pleasant walk across the campus to reach the chapel. The chapel’s stained glass was the highlight and contained lots of blue shades with occasional vibrant reds. The style of the stained glass was fairly modern and would be much easier to see on a sunny day (it was cloudy during our visit). There isn’t all that much to see here, and most visitors will only need less than 10 minutes to see everything.

Little Chapel

By Jerry P |

We learned about the Chapel from reading about it in a book on regions to visit in Texas. We found it difficult to locate once on campus. When walking around WD asked a couple of students where it was located. One sent us to the wrong place. Another seemed uncertain but sent us in the right direction. It is a lovely building inside and outside. Parking is also a concern.

Visit to the Little Chapel in the Woods

By rmccas61 |

An architectural marvel, beautiful and serene, with a great history. Put it on you list of things to see in Denton!

Wedding

By Frank P |

Beautiful wedding venue for ceremony, small capacity aprox. 200,, set on Texas Women’s University campus, trees trees, gardens, reception elsewhere

Best bridal venue in Denton County, TX

By Nancy D |

We used this beautiful chapel for my daughter's wedding and it was absolutely gorgeous. The administration worked extremely well with us to to over every detail and make sure no stones were unturned. We also used Hubbard Hall as our reception area and it turned out beautifully, also. The price is inclusive. The chapel is well located to ensure guests have access to nice hotels on both the west side and south side of the city. The only drawback is the size as the chapel only seats 100 people and if you have a large family or lots of friends, it probably won't do!

Small weddings come here

By 613deborahp |

perfect spot for a small wedding, stone church photographs so well, and the grounds are beautiful in the spring

Perfect wedding spot

By XUXUXUXU |

This is a beautiful spot for a smallish wedding. The chapel itself is really pretty and the surrounding grounds make for a perfect backdrop for pictures before or after the ceremony. There are lots of big trees and pretty flowers. It's a popular spot so book early!

By MFountain |

Went to a friends wedding sometime ago and it was beautiful! The staff and everyone around we're extremely helpful and very nice.

I got married here, and I stop by all the time

By Kimberly A G |

It's just a tiny little place, built by CCC work crews during the Depression and decorated by Texas Woman's University's art students, but it is beguiling. Famed architect O'Neil Ford designed the building, so if you are an aficionado of architecture, you will appreciate his use of native materials and colors in his design. This chapel is located on the Texas Woman's University's main campus in Denton, and each stained glass window panel depicts a scene showing how women serve mankind--nursing, teaching, mothering, etc. It is a lovely chapel for a wedding and calming spot for respite. There's an iron, spiral staircase which will carry the slender and the brave to the balcony. I believe the main level seats about 100 people.

Architectural attraction in Denton.

By Evan H |

I went because of the architect Mr. O'neil Ford. A famous architect in TX and the Southwest. He designed "The Tower of Americas, La Vilata, 26 buildings at Trinity University all in San Antonio and lots more.
He grew up in Denton, got an education in Denton and returned to Denton after a very successful career.

I was not disappointed!!

Charming on the outside and a mini-cathedral inside. Beautiful!!!!!!
For weddings...Perfect, soooo nice and intimate with preparation rooms on either side of the pulpit and
Easy to find. Right in the shadow of the 2 Towers. Can't miss them. Parking is 100 yards away.
During Covid you need an appointment.
Worth the stop.

Beautiful, historic chapel on the Texas Woman's University campus

By BarbaraKP |

The stained glass windows were made by students and are worth a trip to see the chapel. Some restoration has been done and it is a beautiful building.

A Beautiful Place For A Wedding!!

Our son and his fianc'ee had a beautiful wedding at the Little Chapel in the Woods this past Saturday!! The Little Chapel has a rich history at TWU and is a terrific wedding spot! The TWU staff is fantastic!

Afternoon walk

By jtaylor924 |

This was a very pleasant and peaceful, chapel. It is located on the campus at Texas Women's University. It was great to finally visit this local landmark

A campus icon

By texasgal1260 |

The Little Chapel has been a part of the TWU campus since 1938. The stained glass windows on each side depict women and their roles in life. Ecumenical services are held on Sundays when the university is in session.
