Very enjoyable in spite of intermittent downpours. Lots of very interesting nuggets of local farming and culture information . Generous sharing of chocolate and related pieces. Worth the drive, worth the money, worth the time. Thank you, Mason for an outstanding tour.

This was much more educational and inclusive than expected!! Loved it! Learned about not only their chocolate but also how cacao becomes chocolate for consumption and tasted some of the best they have as well as some amazing fruits grown on their property. Would recommend!

So fun! We learned so much about locally sourced farms and tasted amazing chocolate, along with various fruits and honeys. Highly recommend.

Excellent tour - Jenna was superb. Very educational. Nice sampling comparison
Will never see or taste chocolate the same way again. They also grow vanilla which was also very interesting!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and tasting! Thank you, Mason, for sharing a lot of information in an engaging and fun way! Mason infused just the right amount of humor throughout the three hour tour and was great with our 12-year old grandson. Mustn't forget to mention how delicious the chocolate was!

This was so much more than a chocolate tour! We learned about canoe plants and other varieties of plants growing on the property, such as vanilla. We used some natural ‘shampoo.’ We tasted several different fruits, such as soursop and dragonfruit. We learned all about the cacao growing process and chocolate creation process. And lastly, we sampled a TON of really yummy chocolate. This tour was hands down one of the best activities on our trip to Kaua‘i and O‘ahu. Shout out to Henry, he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Just went on this tour today and it was great!! So worth the price, especially knowing that everything you're paying for is helping to keep the farm running and employees employed. First and foremost, I appreciated that the tour started on time considering I was on another tour yesterday and we were delayed 45 minutes waiting for people who showed up late. I appreciate that this farm respected our time. Mason was our tour guide and he was hilarious, informative and passionate. I learned a lot not only about chocolate but about fruits and plants too. We got to try different fruits in addition to the chocolate. The chocolate was amazing and I'm not usually a fan of dark chocolate (although we tried a variety). I had to buy some to take home to family and friends. Amazing tour and very worth the time and price in my opinion!

If you have the chance to go, definitely make this a stop during your time in Kauai. We came here on our last day and it was such a cool experience! Their gardens are beautiful and our guide Brooke was extremely knowledgeable as she went through the process of how chocolate is made from the cacao seed to finished product. It was so cool to learn about chocolate and you will get more than enough samples to broaden your palate. Plus I really loved learning about the sustainability of their farm too. All in all, I highly recommend.

The Lydgate Chocolate Tasting tour exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Mason, explained and showed us how vanilla, honey, and chocolate evolves from raw materials to what we see in stores. You will sample their farm-grown foods at multiple stations. The farm is expansive, beautiful, well-maintained, and rife with biodiversity. The people on the farm are hard-working and hospitable. They appreciate visitors and their enthusiasm for their craft shows. This is a wonderful, enriching way to spend a half day in Kauai.

The Lydgate Chocolate Farm tour was an unforgettable experience! Jess, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about chocolate. I learned so much about the process, from cacao cultivation to chocolate-making, more than I ever thought possible.
The highlights of the tour included tasting cacao shell tea, which was amazing, as well as rare fruits like white pineapple, soursop, starfruit, apple banana, and cacao fruit. These were flavors I had never experienced before, and it really made the visit special.
We had such a great time overall. The only downside was that the chocolates were on the expensive side, and we wished they offered smaller pieces at more affordable prices so we could share the treats with family back home. Despite the cost, we ended up buying some for ourselves, and I have to say, the chocolates held up perfectly during travel—no melting at all!
If you're a chocolate lover or just want to learn something new while enjoying delicious flavors, this tour is definitely worth it!

Education and variety of sampling. Our kids, 9 and 12 , enjoyed as well! Learned about a variety of flora. The cacao, fruit, and honey samples were great. Henry, our guide, was top notch!

This is some good tourism. You experience the cacao and vanilla farming side of world class small batch chocolate. You get to do so in a beautiful place, with a lovely staff who have a passion for sustainable agriculture. And of course, they feed you samples of all kinds of amazing chocolate. Everyone wins! Thanks Jess, you crushed it like a cacao bean.

Very informative and entertaining tour by Mason. It was apparent that he knew a lot about the business and the local flora. So much information and then the tastings. For a gardener, the science of growing cacao plants was appreciated. The tasting of Kauai-grown fruit was a plus. Be prepared to eat some chocolate!

From start to finish everything was thought of for our comfort but on top of that we learned so much and the ability to sample so many delicious fruits, honeys and most importantly chocolate was amazing! The chocolate was life changing and I hope to start taking greater care in not only my chocolate experiences but in everything i choose to eat.

We really enjoyed the tour. Our guide was great and provided alot of great information. It's not a huge area so limited walking.

I was hoping this would be a great excursion that would round out our trip but it was just okay and overpriced. I would not really recommend as I feel we wasted not only our money- would pay$25 per person tops and our precious time in this trip.
Beware to families as we rely a lot on these reviews and I felt while it was interesting it was not worth the money

The tour is well organized. Jess was a great guide. We learned so much about how cocoa is harvested and processed, tasted several exotic fruits, and about a dozen different kinds of chocolate, as well as some local honey. A good balance of walking and sitting under a roofed structure.

Definitely a must do ! Grounds were also beautiful! Our guide was amazing! We even got to taste some native fruits and honey.

What a great experience! A little bit of walking, a whole lot of learning. Great guides! Only “bean to bar” chocolate for me now!

Interesting, fun, and delicious tour. Jenna was delightful, sweet, knowledgeable, and funny. The grounds were beautiful and the history and education was fascinating. Great way to spend 3 hours.

We stopped by the shop not the plantation which was perfect! The shop provides a no-cost tasting tour of how they make the chocolate they grow on the island. It was such an experience and we definitely had to buy some for when we got home. The in-shop tour was comparable to a high school 101 & we learned the plantation tour is comparable to a college 101. The chocolate is exquisite and learning all about it was so valuable. I highly recommend stopping in and giving it a try!

We really enjoyed the chocolate tasting tour. Brooke was our guide and she was knowledgeable and entertaining. We loved learning about the growing and making process and of course getting to taste all of the wonderful chocolate and fruits. It was a fun and engaging tour and I would highly recommend checking them out when you are on Kauai!

We expected an enjoyable tour with a bit of education in the process of making chocolate. We got that plus much more chocolate samples than we expected along with the chance to taste several new fruits and even some honey. Our guide, Brooke, was very friendly, informative and fun. We definitely felt like we got our money’s worth!

We were impressed with our tour of Lydgate Farms. Mason was engaging, informative, & clearly enjoys sharing the farm with visitors.
We enjoyed multiple tastings, an overview of cacao & vanilla farming, and an interactive botanical garden tour. The cacao shell tea was a treat I've never seen before. The tastings were varied, including local fruits, Lydgate Farm products, raw cacao, & other manufacturer's chocolates to truly educate our palates. The description of the process to take cacao from tree to bar was a nice introduction & questions from those of us with background on the subject were encouraged. We left with an understanding of how Lydgate fits into the big picture in the chocolate world.
Everything we experienced was well organized, curated, & carefully planned. Everything we saw on the grounds was clean, tended, & in good repair.
Our only disappointment is that the bee tour was not available on the day we could visit.
As a chocolate lover & former artisan chocolatier, our experience exceeded my expectations. My non-chocolate-lover partner also left singing praises of the farm & Mason's tour. In all, a great morning during our trip!

Awesome tour with the most enthusiastic and sincere guide, Henry! In one tour Henry taught me chocolate and honey is more than a tasty treat but a gateway into the very souls and essence of where it comes from and the people who dedicate their time to making it. Following the tour I debated getting Henry’s face tattooed on my chest but according to my wife that would be “weird”. Regardless, great tour, awesome guide!

Our tour guide was Jess . She was excellent , interesting , informative. The tour is fantastic. It was fun , informative , interesting , very enjoyable and the tastings were excellent . It was wonderful to compare one chocolate with another . She exposed us to unusual island fruits and Honeys that was a real treat . The farm is beautiful , sustainable and environmentally maintained . The tour was worth every cost ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5 star

My husband and I went just this morning and it was an awesome experience! Brook, our tour guide was so nice, welcoming, and just the best presence! We would highly recommend this tour to meet awesome people, eat some amazing treat, and learn so much about chocolate!

I did not know what to expect. I thought it was just a chocolate tasting and some chit chat, but I was so wrong! We learned so much about the process of a chocolate bar. We started with a tea made from the cacao shells-yummy-then some pieces of chocolate. Our guide, Jess was so bubbly & informational. We did a tour of the grounds and everything around kept me engaged and wanting to see more. I’m big on sweets and after doing this tour, I’m going to be extra picky about my chocolate. It was a great experience. I would totally do it again!

Jess was our tour guide , she was excellent . The tour was fantastic, fun , informative and interesting . The tastings were amazing . Well worth the cost . Best tour on the island

Genna was very nice and explained everything all the questions, very helpful information . Thank you for your beautiful place farm

This tour was amazing. It was not only informative but the views were spectacular. The fruit trees and the cacao trees were unbelievable! We loved it and our guide Brook was incredible. Highly recommend this awesome farm. You’ll taste amazing chocolate 😍😍😍

My second tour and my daughter's first. Our guide was full of information, most of which was new! He was very funny, and the time flew by. The tasting is wonderful and helps to distinguish the difference between quality chocolate and everyday candy bar chocolate. Highly recommend this tour.

Best tour of the island! The tour guide was great. She was knowledgeable, funny, and engaging with the tour group. The was plenty of chocolate to taste, which was world-class, above and beyond the other world's chocolate producers. Great environment, no baking in the sun from the the heat, and a great way to start the day. Recommend the 10 AM tour.

Loved this tour. Was presented very well. McKenna super friendly and knowledgeable about the bee ecology. 🐝 if you are interested in the fascinating world of bees, this is your tour. I highly recommend.

We walked in knowing we were chocolate lovers but walked out so much more knowledgeable about cacao farming and the process of making chocolate from the cacao fruit. We also now have great appreciation for the difference between craft chocolate and commercial processed chocolate. Our tour guide, Jess, was phenomenal and her passion for the farm and her knowledge was infectious. She is a true gem!

Wonderful! This is a must for chocolate lovers and foodies! You will learn so much about the cacao plant and how it is processed to become chocolate. And the tastings are terrific. Our guide was Jenna and she was informative and enthusiastic and charming. The grounds are beautiful also.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! Brooke is a wealth of knowledge and delivered the information with a sense of humor.

Great experience learning about how the chocolate is grown and processed. Tasted chocolate, honey and local fruits. So much fun and our guide sherry was great!

Fantastic tour with a passionate and fun tour guide who revealed the wonders of cacao and the care it takes to produce world-class chocolate. The farm also produces hand pollinated vanilla and amazing honey. Learning how all of the plants, birds and insects are interconnected deepened our own connection to Kauai. Fun (and tasty) for all ages!

Jess was our tour guide from Iowa, and she was outstanding - but so was Ryan and the other staff there. Learned a lot. Ate a lot of amazing chocolate and other fruits. Such a nice change of pace in terms of a tour in Hawaii/Kauai - strongly recommend!

Mason was funny, entertaining, and extremely knowledgeable- what a great tour guide! We learned so much and enjoyed the farm and ended up buying chocolate to take back as gifts. It was great to be able to taste everything and to try some new fruits! Highly recommend

Mason was our tour guide, and he was so fun, funny and knowledgeable! We loved seeing the chocolate plants growing, along with the vanilla, and other exotic species! And it was really fun to taste the exotic fruits, and 10 different types/brands of chocolate! It was definitely worth the visit!

Amazing experience. Learned so much about chocolate. This is a must do, Jess was a great guide, very knowledgeable and delightful.

Truly fascinating to see where chocolate comes from. It was a lot of fun. Our tour guide, Sherri(?), was wonderful and clearly cared about the farm and its mission. The grounds were beautiful, too. Even our 16-year-old daughter had a great time.
Oh, and the chocolate is delicious! I purchased far too much to bring home for friends and family.
Highly, highly recommended.

Sherri was amazing, friendly, and kept everyone engaged during the tour. Our 3 teens enjoyed it and appreciate everything they learned and of course the chocolate and fruits they tasted. Highly recommend taking a break from the beaches and taking this tour

This tour was one of the most informative and interesting food tours that we’ve ever experienced. Obviously the chocolate is amazing, but the scenery and expertise of the tour guide really pushed this experience over the top. This farm is doing some great things and we were happy to get a glimpse of many of them. Special thanks to Jenna for leading our tour.

We had so much fun on our very informative and treat filled tour today! Henry was our guide and he was so passionate about the plants, history, and tasting process. Best tour guide we’ve had on this trip by far. 3 hours flew by, highly recommend!

Our guide Jess was amazing, we learned so much about Cocoa, the whole process to produce Chocolate and the farms of Kauai! 10/10 There was a lot of chocolate tasting involved and delicious tropical fruits as well. Discovered a new favourite fruit (white pineapple!)

Mel was a fabulous tour guide. She obviously loves her job, and enjoys teaching others about cacao, chocolate, and all things Kauai. I learned A LOT and Mel made it so much fun. You might think 3 hours is too long for a tour, but I assure you it is not. A bit of walking, but not much. And they have transportation if needed. Highly recommend!

We had a very pleasant experience. Sheri was our guide, and was friendly & shared her extensive chocolate knowledge with us. The farm was beautiful, and all of the staff members were friendly. The chocolate was divine.

Tour was fun and tasty! Lots of sampling! Our guide Sherri was amazing and very knowledgeable! Took home several of their items.

After this tour, you’ll be delighted and eager to spend $18 for a bar of chocolate—in fact, you’ll buy and savor multiple bars, because every taste will remind you of a unique, unforgettable experience! Jess is a savvy, professional tour guide with an encyclopedic memory who is also extremely personable and draws you into the experience. The 3 hours go by quickly as you learn how unique cacao fruit is, especially in Hawaii, and how Lydgate has become one of the world’s most awarded chocolatiers. You’ll understand how they use other plants to control weeds and pests, and even watch how vanilla plants are hand-pollinated, and why vanilla is so expensive. You’ll taste many kinds of honey that come from native Hawaiian flowers, and you’ll taste strange fruits and learn where you can buy them at certain farmers’ markets. And boy, will you get your fill of chocolate tasting, and understand the difference between craft chocolate and candy. We look forward to treating our friends in Colorado with an evening of chocolate tasting. This is a must-do, and we look forward to revisiting with extended family.

We did this tour to kill some time before our flight. It was perfect!
In this tour we were taught how to properly taste chocolate-as you would a wine.
We learned the chocolate making process from soup to nuts while walking the farm and learning about other fruits as well.
Then came the chocolate tastings-there were so many that even the most seasoned chocolate eater (like myself) wanted a salty burger afterwards. But in a good way.
This farm is really in a league of their own. Go and find out!
Would do this again. Money well spent.

Such an amazing tour, a highlight of our trip so far….we learned so much about chocolate and the process from tree to chocolate bar and all the sustainable practices that Lydgate follows! Even though the tour was 3+ hours, my husband, 2 teens, and I were riveted and sampled some amazing fruits, nuts, and honeys as well! Such an informative and relaxing experience, being surrounded by lush beauty! Jess was the best guide! TYSM!

We had a wonderful time with Jenna on our chocolate tour. We learned a lot and ate a lot of delicious chocolate. The difference in taste between the different chocolates was astounding. Jenna was fun and a great tour leader. We will be eating our purchases for some time and enjoying it greatly. Was a great thing to do when the weather wasn't great, but would be worthwhile even if the weather is beautiful!

Not only was Mason the best tour guide we met in Hawaii, he was the best in three years of US exploring around!! Make sure you visit and hope he’s your guide! 🙏

We had a great time and purchased the deluxe add on for our tour.. we were instructed to carry on our honey when traveling ..and just a heads up tsa will not let you carry on liquids in excess of 3.4 oz.. the honey you sold was. 9oz needless to say the honey we were excited to take home was surrendered to tsa lost 2 jars

The tour is amazing! So educational and the chocolate is amazing. My husband lost his wallet during the tour but we were able to find it . A huge Mahalo to the team for taking the time to help us find it. You will never taste chocolate the same again. So much good information and the property is stunning. Jess was a great tour guide. Totally worth your time to visit.

We had so much fun on this tour and learned a ton along the way! Our guide, Henry, was absolutely amazing—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does. He not only walked us through the chocolate-making process but also pointed out other plants on the farm, sharing their uses, history, and importance. It made the whole experience feel rich and immersive.
We sampled a lot of chocolate—so much that I actually saved some to bring home! Even though I’m not usually a big fan of dark chocolate, everything we tried was delicious—not too bitter at all. A few of the younger kids in our group weren’t into the dark chocolate, but we also got to try some milk chocolate, white chocolate, and even honey from their own hives.
I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kauai. Whether you're a chocolate lover or just looking for something unique and educational, it’s a fantastic way to spend a few hours!

Jess was an amazing guide. Was definitely worth the money, we highly recommend this tour. Great information, out of this world chocolate experience. We are probably going to have to bring my mother in-law when she joins us in April for our vacation.

Fascinating experience learning into how cacao is grown and turned into chocolate. Great insights to the Lydgate family and their motivations. And there was much more than just chocolate, we got to sample several kinds of tropical fruit. But of course, the chocolate sampling was the best. Jenna was a super enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide!
Lydgate is doing a great job getting Hawaii on the map as a world class craft chocolate producer. Looking forward coming back in a few a years and seeing how things continue to grow.

Brooke, our tour guide was so informative, and very engaging. She explained the differences in Cocoa, how it is grown, the differences in taste, and also some of the local fruits grown on the property. She was extremely knowledgeable about the world of cocoa, and its production process. She made this tour very informative, entertaining and wanting to learn more. We would highly recommend taking this tour. Ask for Brooke as your guide. You will not be disapptointed.

Shari (Sherry) our tour leader did an absolutely amazing job. We are so happy to have chosen Lydgate Farms for our chocolate tour. We got to taste lots of chocolates from around the world. The tour was very informative.

We so enjoyed this tour! Our guides Kenna and Sarah were so fabulous, fun and knowledgeable! We learned so much about bees, bee keeping and honey! We suited up, got to hold a plate, observed honey being harvested, we sampled that fresh honey and honeycomb- it was so delicious! Highly recommend this tour!

We joined the tour expecting to learn about how the farm makes chocolate and left immensely enriched - we learned much more than just about chocolate. Sheri was a great tour guide, and the tour itself was very well organized. One of the highlights of our visit to Kauai.

The chocolate was incredible. I will not taste chocolate the same again. Jessie was wonderful. She was patient and enthusiastic. I would take the tour again on my next trip to Kauai. Loved it!

This tour far exceeded my expectations. It was a well laid out well done experience. I would highly recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed.

Best tour on Kaua'i. Thinking it is too expensive? No! It is so worth every cent and every minute of your time. We all loved it. Everyone was so nice.
Tips: Use your own big spray. I used mi e and no bites. My husband and kids used what they supplied...covered with mosquito bites.
Shipping: at the end of the tour you can buy all you want and ship it for $30. We bought many gifts and have the luxury of having them shipped.

Lydgate Chocolate Farm tour was excellent. Jenna was a great and knowledgeable guide, despite her saying she was only a theatre arts and drama major. Answered all questions...very little she didn't know. The chocolates and honey were terrific. Can never get enough of that stuff. Would go again.

Rain or shine, this will be a top trip highlight! Mason was our guide for the chocolate tour and tasting. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and has a terrific sense of humour! We learned so much about Lydgate chocolate, the terroir, and their small batch craft process. But there were so many more amazing extras! Every 5 feet of the tour, we would be learning about pollenating vanilla, or picking and tasting tropical fruits and herbs, or spotting exotic birds… the list goes on. Whether you are a chocoholic, foodie, wine lover, gardener, or just love Hawaii, this tour will teach you something new. The chocolate tasting will definitely spoil you! Regardless of your chocolate knowledge and background, your palate will never be the same after trying Lydgate chocolate. There is a good reason why it wins awards year after year. (We think that Mason should win an award as well! He’s a pro!)

We were so impressed with our beekeeper expert McKenna and Sarah as everything was top notch throughout our tour. Very knowledgeable about the process of beekeeping and the history of the industry on Kauai. We enjoyed learning about the pollen to honey journey!! Would recommend this tour with great enthusiasm!!

Our tour guide Mason made the tour so much fun! He was informative, funny and knowledgeable. We learned so much, not only about chocolate, but also about the ecosystem of Kauai! I would definitely recommend this tour to family and friends!

Our guide was Mel and she was fantastic! Unfortunately, we are now chocolate snobs. There is a little walking but not much, mostly tasting, both chocolate as well as new fruits. There's plenty of chocolate sampling, enough to make you feel educated about what are the different types and qualities. It's a beautiful farm, with so many fruit trees.

I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when first booking this tour. I’m so happy that I did.
When you first arrive, there are fresh macadamia nuts that you are able to crack yourself and eat. And there is also some chocolate honey tea, which is really good. This was a very good first impression and they also gave us bananas.
As they were explaining things about chocolate and some of the history, there was a bird that would fly close to us because they had a nest close to the entrance. It made the experience, very immersive and fun.
Next week we got to see some of the vanilla and chocolate trees, which is awesome. And then there were many more fun things to come.
Here’s a little taste of what happened on our tour. I only gave you the first part of the experience. I very much recommend going.

Before we went, we wondered if it would be worth the cost. We were impressed with what a great experience it was. Our tour guide, Jenna, was very knowledgeable, as well as engaging and funny. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about cacoa and the process of making chocolate. It was really a neat experience and very worth it!

This was an awesome tour that I would highly recommend to others. It was informative, fun and a totally unique experience. Our guides, McKenna and Jewel, were very knowledgeable and did an excellent job educating us about the bees and the process of making honey. We all had an opportunity to be involved and even got to taste the honey fresh off the frame!

That tour was so much fun and very educational! We were in love with the surrounding and the people..it was so green and even with a few showers during the tour, we were very comfortable.

Amazing! It was a 3 hour experience and well worth it. Beautiful grounds and I learned so much about chocolate growing, farming and making it into chocolate. This is NOT your regular chocolate and as a vegan this was heaven! Dark chocolate that melted in my mouth and no bitterness! Tons of flavor. I learned about other Hawaiian fruits and most surprising was the vanilla bean plant. Come to find out so much about it and why true vanilla costs so much! Jen was awesome!

Such a great tour. Tasted fruit, chocolate and honey. Learned about the island and of course chocolate growing. Henry was an amazing tour guide. During part of our tour it poured! We were under cover. The Lydgate farm team activated making sure the paths were safe, providing umbrellas and offering to drive people if the terrain was too challenging. Fantastic service. The grounds are beautiful and sometimes hilly, but there is always a ride available - older visitors will be fine.
We definitely recommend this tour! Such fun

Wonderful experience, fantastic chocolate and fruit! The farm was gorgeous to walk. Humor with history done tastefully during our time.

This was an amazing experience. I would highly recommend. we learned so much about the local plants and how cocoa trees grow. we tasted chocolate from around the world. Their chocolate is just amazing. the staff was friendly knowledgeable and great!

This was super interesting. I had no idea how or where chocolate originated. The tour was so informative, not only about chocolate, but vanilla and birds and plants. Loved it. Plus the chocolate tasting was amazing. :)

Jess was an awesome tour guide for us through the farm. We learned so much about the chocolate making process from farm to factory. Lots of other interesting fruits , plants and trees to see as well. Well worth the stop.

Mason was our tour guide and did an amazing job. He is full of information from a lay perspective as well as the science behind cacao trees, the making of different types of chocolate and the business aspects of craft chocolate vs high volume manufacturing. This was definitely one of the top tours we did.

Our guide was Jess. She was well spoken, thorough with her presentation and showed great respect for nature and the environment. The chocolate tasting rivaled any wine tasting we’ve ever had. Jess helped us pick out the subtle tastes that are wiped away by the mass production products typically available through most chocolate outlets. She pointed out the fruits and other flavors that a finely crafted chocolate can have. She also showed us how the same chocolate can display a different taste profile by the way it is made, adding salt or bourbon for example. While one of us found the chocolate only good, they were blown away by the Lydgate Botanical garden showcasing vanilla orchids (everywhere!), other orchids, ferns, peppers and, of course, the cacao farm amongst the rainforest.

This tour and Sheri our tour guide were both awesome. Her knowledge, humor, and passion showed everywhere during the tour. I had a mobility issue and the Farm staff were extremely accommodating so I could attend the whole tour. The chocolate and fruit tastings were both educational and yummy. I highly recommend this tour; it's well worth the cost.

Great tour that’s gives wonderful details on how chocolate is made and what plants are used. The guide was very funny and helped keeps the kids entertained

One of the most enjoyable as well as informative attractions I've been on. I recommend if you are able don't pass it up. I never thought it could happen, but I was choclated out by the end of the tour, my wife says she was not. Brook was a great tour guide.

Sheri was our guide. She was superb, couldn’t have had anyone better. This was a tour we added to our visit while in Kauai. It included more than we expected and we enjoyed all of it. The farm is actually a botanical garden as well. If you love plants, you’ll love this space. With tasting fruits and chocolate there’s a wide variety to explore. I appreciate having a greater understanding of tasting and experiencing chocolate. It’s very similar to wine tasting. Learning to appreciate flavors leads to a better life. I would like to see and learn more about the actual chocolate production sometime. If I lived near here I would look into trying to get a job here.

Lydgate chocolate is some of the best in the world. Look at their reviews! Do their tasting and you will be convinced. Everyone there is wonderful and fun. We paid for the chocolate at the end of the tour because the chocolate is soooooo worth it. BTW their popsicles at the end are one of the best things they make, don’t miss it.
The tour is perfectly informative and fun.

Very informative and tasty. Jenna did a great job! Enjoyed being able to sample the different fruits, chocolate and honey. Hope to be able to visit again.

What a tour!!! Our guide, Mason, was so knowledgeable and so funny! Saw the cacao tree and cacao fruits at different stages of development, the cacao fruit whole and then cut and taken apart (taste sampling the flesh and seeds), and the seed being ground to cacao powder. Sample tasted the various Lydgate Farm chocolates by cacao percentage noting the undertone flavors and then sampling some other chocolates from around the world for comparison. Saw vanilla bean vines, flowers and seeds as well as papaya trees and pineapple and sugar cane plants. Sample tasted various tropical fruits (some of which I had never heard of before) as well as the Lydgate honey. The tour was so interesting and fun that the 3 hours flew by! A must do experience!

Great tour guide, Brooke, very knowledgeable, funny and friendly! Not very much walking and we were seated during tastings. Very interesting and great chocolate and fruit! High recommend to try!

Great tour, mason was our guide. Was so good I left a 100 tip. Hopefully it made it to him as I handed it to another employee.

A very fun tour with a knowledgeable guide. Beautiful plantation with all organic plants. Lots of tasting chocolate and Mac nut products. Learned all about how chocolate is made. Come hungry.

Lydgate keeps evolving and adding to its farm, tour alot different in just 18 months since last tour, wonderful fun ! Thank you Brook!

Such a peasant experience for our family to enjoy andbe surrounded by such beauty as we learned all about the chocolate process and taste delicious chocolate and different fruits.

This tour is a must when you visit Kauai! It is an in depth look into the emerging world of high-end craft chocolate, with lots of tasting opportunities and stunning photos. Our tour guide, Henry, provided extensive knowledge about the growing and production of cacao and chocolate, we learned so much! I definitely have a new found appreciation for my favorite treat, and look forward to Lydgate farms and other Hawaiian grown chocolate pioneering the craft chocolate movement.

Such a wonderful experience! My daughter and I learned so much (we really had no idea about the cacao industry), tasted AMAZING chocolate, honey and tropical fruit. Brooke was a joy and is obviously passionate about her work. The whole operation is so well run. You have earned a Lydgate chocolate buyer for life!

We had an amazing time with McKena and Ronnie learning about honey production on this quaint farm. They truly embodied the aloha spirit as they shared their knowledge and made us feel so comfortable. The honey is absolutely divine and this experience will be one I will always remember. If you love honey definitely go check this out. You will leave with a sense of awe and wonder and a greater appreciation of bees.

Learned so much about cacao and could taste the variety of flavors in each sample. Henry, our guide, was great and everyone at the farm was so helpful and kind. This is a must-do and you can take (or ship) some deliciousness home. Online store, too. Support local Hawaiian businesses and enjoy some outstanding chocolate! They also have honey (my fav was the macadamia nut honey) and we tasted a few lesser-known tropical fruits in addition to the chocolate. It’s not inexpensive, but we feel with the tour and all the delicious samples we definitely got our money’s worth. Highly recommend!

The tour was amazing. The farm is beautiful and the tour was incredibly informative. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. This far surpassed my expectations. It is a “must do” while you are on Kauai. By the end of the three hour tour we had the chance to sample multiple locally grown fruits in addition to more than 10 different varieties of chocolate.

This was way more than I had imagined. The beautiful walk through all the trees and plants. But I learned so much in a fun and delicious tasting. I never knew there was so much to learn about cocoa.

The tour was great. The three hours went by fast and our guide, Jess, was wonderful!
We learned a lot about the chocolate making process as well as other plants and trees on the Island.
Lydgate clearly cares about what they do and their impact on the planet. I think it shows in the chocolate!

Mel was our tour guide and was very fantastic!. You can tell she loves her job and working for the Lyndgate family. She is very open to questions, very interactive and informative.
My recommendation would be to bring a refillable water bottle, eat a high protein meal before the tour because you will be doing a lot of chocolate and honey tasting.
I would also suggest some crackers or a palate cleanser.
Not for people who can’t have alot of sugar or sit for long periods of time.

We thoroughly appreciate nd enjoyed Jess’s information tour while on tour at the farm.
We learned a lot of new information about the farming process and tasted at lot of chocolate 🤪

What a fantastic experience! Our guide, Jess, was not only knowledgeable, she was passionate about her work at Lydgate Farm. So, so many chocolate and macadamia nut samples were distributed throughout the tour. The tour was well thought out, comfort and safety as you walked through different areas of the farm were taken into consideration by Jess and the organizers. A definite must do when you are in Kaua’i!

The tour was by far the best tour I've ever been on in Hawaii or anywhere for that matter. Our guides Sarah and Mackenna were so knowledgeable and made the tour so much fun. We had a great time learning about Bees but also the best part was tasting the honey we harvested as a group!!! So so good, the various kinds of honey were so interesting to taste, I personally loved the Macadamia Nut flower honey, and took a jar home with me too!!! Definitely do this tour if you are even thinking about booking it!!!

This was the best chocolate tour I’ve ever experienced. Our guide was so funny and so detailed. The most interesting place to visit and beautiful!!

Henry was a fantastic tour guide, incredibly knowledgeable about his craft and full of interesting bits of information about chocolate. We ate so much chocolate but the local honey from their ship was the highlight of unexpected goodness!

Great experience! Mason was a very knowledgeable tour guide and the chocolate was great! Highly recommend this to everyone!

Fun, educational and tasty! I highly recommend this tour. I never knew chocolate could taste this good.

This was the best chocolate farm tour I have ever taken, absolutely worth the money! We booked the first tour at 9am and we ended up with a smaller group so it felt more specialized. Mason was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We started with a brief fruit tasting and history lesson of the farm. After that we walked through the farm and saw many different plants. We saw vanilla plants and learned about that crop as well. The walk was easy and there was a cart available for those wanting help. We tried about 8 different chocolates/products, fresh tropical fruits and honey from the other part of the farm. The complete experience was about 3 hours and totally worth it.

We learned a great deal about chocolate and other things from Jenna, our tour guide. She is very knowledgeable about chocolate production.

We had an excellent tour. Very informative. Definitely changed the way we viewed chocolate. I normally am not a big fan of dark chocolate but Lydgate Farms produces phenomenal chocolate. Big shout out to our tour guide Sherry. She was very knowledgeable and you could tell she really enjoys her job. I would highly recommend. It was worth every penny.

I loved everything about this farm chocolate tour. The leaders are well informed and interesting. They have thought of everything including water jugs at numerous locations during the tour, umbrellas for the sun and rain, fresh fruit, and chocolate! I learned a lot and couldn’t believe that more than 3 hours had passed when it was finished. The goodies I purchased were packed in a fancy insulated bag with ice packs to keep the chocolate from melting. I highly recommend this experience. Well with the time and money!

We did this tour today with our 2 teenage boys. We all loved it! Learned a ton not only about cacao but other tropical crops (like vanilla) and were thoroughly entertained by Mason. He obviously loves his job and kept everyone engaged for the whole 3 hours (which flew by). We have a whole new appreciation for really good chocolate. 100% recommend this "must do" tour!!

Did not know what to expect but it was terrific. Our guide was so knowledgeable and super friendly. It lasted 3 hours and the time flew by. So much chocolate to sample along with certain fruits. The grounds are beautiful. Kudos to our guide Jenna. She was awesome and went above and beyond to make our visit special. Even our kids ages 7 thru 13 were captivated.

Mason was our tour guide and mixed education with laughter. We tasted some of the fruit that grow on the property while also getting to smell the fragrance of All Spice leaves and the Kaffir Lime leaves. There is an opportunity to taste the honey (they have a beehive tour which I would recommend doing after experiencing this tour) that was smooth. And of course, Macadamia nuts!
However, the highlight of the tour is cocoa that isn’t simply self proclaimed to be the best chocolate in the world but is actually the best chocolate in the world because Lydgate Farms has won the cocoa of excellence award in Paris *three times*. If you love chocolate, you won’t want to miss this experience. However, if you want to continue to enjoy your mass produced chocolate, just pass your samples to your right or left because you won’t be able to taste chocolate the same again.
True story- this morning (chocolate is a fruit- so no judgy), I reached over for some Trader Joe’s chocolate… and… I spat it out. This is the same chocolate I was enjoying less than a month ago before my exposure to Lydgate Farms. My tastebuds have been awakened to the true taste of chocolate.

Our chocolate tour was so much fun and our tour guide Sheri was amazing. She was knowledgeable, engaging and accommodating. I have a whole new prospective on dark chocolate which was my favorite of all the chocolate we tried. Truly worth the time, effort and money if you get a chance to go, DO IT as you won’t be disappointed.

OMG, so fun! Bees are the most amazing creatures and I really enjoyed learning all about them on this tour. Lydgate Farms does such an great job of hosting a tour, they really anticipate your every need. Jess and Jules were wonderful tour guides and Jules really went above and beyond with the beautiful delicious fruit plates she created to enjoy with the delicious honey. Just keep calm and enjoy the bees!

Enjoy a fabulous tour of Lydgate Farms on New Year’s Eve. Learned so much, and tasted so much chocolate! Mel, our tour guide, was absolutely tops. She deserves ten stars! Grateful for the experience. Mahalo. 🧡🍫

Excellent tour. Sheri was knowledgeable, fun and energetic. The chocolate was delicious. Enjoyed seeing the grounds and various types of plants and vegetation.

I arrived as just a casual fan of chocolate, and came away with a deep appreciation for all that goes into the process. The tour was terrifically informational and fun.

Alexandria was beyond wonderful as a tour guide, and provided such interesting details about cacao, the farm, and all the fruits, flowers, and other plants grown there. We were captivated the entire time, and were able to taste the most delicious chocolate and honey we had ever had. My 21 year old son was captivated the entire time, and so were another couple’s grade school aged children. Great for families or friends that are interested in learning and tasting decadence!

From arrival to the end of the tour, it was top notch. All of the staff were friendly, answered so many questions without making anyone feel silly for asking questions. Jenna, our Guide was wonderful. Super knowledgable, engaging, easy to understand, and very enthusiatsic about what she does for Lydgate Farms

The tour exceeded our expectations. Our tour leader, Alexandria was knowledgeable and passionate about the farm and the slight nuances of chocolate. I would recommend this tour for families and visitors desiring to step off the beaten path.

Our guide, Henry, did an amazing job of showing us around Lydgate Farms, which is much like a botanical garden. There were lots of different fruits, mac nuts, honey, and chocolates to taste. It was lots of fun, and you can tell everything about the tour is really well thought-out and planned. Highly recommend!

We had a great time on this 3-1/2-hour tour. Melanie, our tour guide was animated, entertaining, and extremely knowledgeable about the history of chocolate from the earliest records of human consumption to chocolate as we know and love it today. We saw the tiny flowers that grow primarily on the trunks of trees and the mature cacao fruit along with other fruit grown on the farm. We sampled the wet cacao seeds, some of their fruit, honey, and of course chocolate sourced from their farm along with chocolate sourced from other countries. Orchids used to produce vanilla and awapuhi, the Hawaiian name for Shampoo Ginger were also part of the tour. I highly recommend this tour.

I can't recommend this tour highly enough. The time, information and fun you receive are well worth the price. Our tour guide, Jess, was whip smart, warm, and clearly loves the work she does at this farm. It was such a pleasure to learn about not just chocolate but so many other interesting foods, plants, and insects. And then there's Rumples, the bird that follows the tour around. Great time, incredible chocolate, and it's so gratifying to support such a terrific, responsible business.

The tour was amazing and we learned so much about craft chocolate. Beautiful location and would most definitely visit again. Sheri and Ronnie were amazing!

Well worth the stop. Informative, fun and overall interesting. Our guide was entertaining and engaging. Truly appreciate the process of how choc is grown, harvested and refined.

We had a wonderful experience on our Lydgate Farms Chocolate Tour. The setting was beautiful, and the host was both knowledgeable and engaging. The tastings were extensive and informative — we learned so much about the chocolate-making process from bean to bar, and got to sample a wide variety of unique and delicious chocolates. You will be full! It was great to be able to purchase our favorites at the end to take a bit of Kauai home with us. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the island!

Our guide Jenna was a wealth of knowledge!! I learned so much about cocoa pods! The chocolate tasting was unbelievable, this should be classified as a food tour really :). Not much walking so it’s easy on the feet. Make this a definite stop on your island visit!

This was an awesome experience! Henry was a great guide and you could tell he really loves his job and chocolate. We learned so much more about chocolate than I thought possible. I will never look at (or eat) a piece of chocolate the same way again!

We booked the Lydgate Chocolate Farm tour based on other reviews as a top attraction to visit and learn about chocolate and how it’s produced. Jenna, our tour guide did not disappoint! She was excellent and the grounds of the farm are spectacular and the chocolate and honey are simply amazing. It was educational, very tasty and a fun time!

it was incredible, the best tour we have done so far. the experience actually seeing the honey be harvested, McKenna and Sarah were great guides and facilitated an environment for questions and even conversation about the other plants on the farm we had questions about. their passion was obvious and now has us strategizing about getting into beekeeping (even though we currently live in a city apartment 🤣) highly highly recommended, would 100000% even go again.

This was by far one of the most amazing tours. I learned so much about agriculture in Hawaii. I have a new appreciation for chocolate

Our time at the farm was very special. From our greeting as we arrived to the tour conducted by Jess, our experience was both enjoyable and memorable. The chocolate is amazing! I strongly encourage anyone interested in not only chocolate but agriculture in Kauai to put this on their priority list!

Our tour guide, Mason, was very knowledgeable, funny, kind and considerate of everyone’s taste and interests. The farm is an exemplar of Hawaiian agriculture. Their chocolate is the world’s best…really!

We learned so much about cacao fruit and how it becomes chocolate. We got to taste so many varieties of chocolate and now know our favorites. We highly recommend this experience.

My wife and I had an excellent time at Lydgate Farms! Our tour guide was funny and informative. The chocolate was the icing on the cake.

One of the best tours we've been on. I wondered how you were going to spend 3 hours talking about chocolate but the whole thing was very engaging. Our guide , Sheri was fabulous. You walk through the grounds and get to see all kinds of plants and one stop is an exploration of exotic fruits. The last stop is almost more chocolate than you can eat, includes tastings of other brands that shows you different results by others, good and bad. My wife and I both loved it.

Amazing tour and tasting! Brooke was amazing. My husband and I are so glad we did this tour. I never thought I would become a chocolate snob but now I know not all chocolate is created equal. Such hard work they do providing such an amazing treat. A must do on the island!

Decided to add this tour to our trip itinterary after a last minute reccomendation. It ended up being a highlight of the trip! Our tour guide Jess was so knowledgable and passionate about the farm. Three hours seems like a long time but, it truly flew by. We got to learn so much about regnerative farming, ethical chocolate making, and tried many delicious fruits. We did the earliest tour of the day and it was not too crowded which was nice. This tour is perfect for chocoholics and will give you a new appreciation for the sweet treat.

This was a delicious and informative tour! Mason’s knowledge and passion was evident throughout! We loved tasting unique fruit, honey and chocolate from the farm! Would highly recommend!

Not just educational but felt like a family atmosphere where they value their product and those that come to experience their passion of raising a sustainable product.

Loved learning about how chocolate is made and about the native and invasive plant species. I highly recommend this tour.

We absolutely loved our chocolate farm tour at Lydgate Farms in Kauai! The highlight of the experience was, without a doubt, Mason, our guide. He was incredibly charismatic and funny — we laughed at every one of his jokes and genuinely enjoyed every minute with him. Beyond the humor, we learned so much from him. He’s a wealth of knowledge and it’s clear he’s deeply passionate about what he does. You can tell he truly loves sharing his expertise and enthusiasm with others, and that made the tour unforgettable. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kauai — and if you’re lucky enough to get Mason as your guide, you’ll definitely have the best time!

A top tier experience for sure. Amazing information and phenomenal staff. The tasting portion is wonderful. Alexandria was an amazing, knowledgeable, and passionate guide! My wife and I would do it over again and again!

Jess really knew her stuff. She made it interesting and fun. A day without chocolate is totally unnecessary. I learned a lot about chocolate that I didn't know. The fruit information was a good additional

Took this tour with my wife, 7 year old daughter and mother and it was a perfect family tour. We learned a lot about the nuances of chocolate and got to sample tons of different varieties. Also got to eat some delicious fruits we’ve never even heard of as well as different varieties of honey. Beautiful views and scenery on the farm. A little bit of walking involved but nothing crazy. Mostly just sitting and listening and eating chocolate. Our guide was Melanie (Mel) and she did a phenomenal job describing everything and was very enthusiastic about it. You could tell she really likes chocolate.

Our tour guide was delightful, knowledgeable and friendly, she is an asset to your team. Thank you!!!

Spent the morning with Roni and McKenna on the bee hive honey tour. What an amazing experience. I have gained a new appreciation for nature's hardest working insects. McKenna and Roni are so knowledgeable but also so personable that our time together flew by. There was time to answer every question and taste a bunch of products of Lydgate Farms each more tasty than the last. Our 11 and 9 year old loved the experience as well. I cannot endorse this experience enough. If you appreciate nature, science, and some amazing new tastes this tour is for you.

Mel was our chocolate guide and she was wonderful. She explained how chocolate is made and how to find quality chocolate.

What an amazing tour. To start with what was among the biggest surprises, the cacao shell tea, really set the tone for the afternoon.
Mel, our guide for the day was a ton of fun, all enthusiasm and knowledge, and was an integral part of the great time we had that day. Between the informative tour of the grounds and the illuminating chocolate tasting, she really struck a home run with our group.
I didn't expect the chocolate to be as interesting as it ended up being. The flavor profiles really surprised all of us, such that we ended up sending a number of bars home and to friends and family. Even people skeptical about the uniqueness of a bar of chocolate as a gift were surprised at the quality and depth of flavor.

Very informative tour about the chocolate farm and their other offerings. Was slightly hoping for more exotic fruits but it may have been the time of year we visited.

This is so much more than a chocolate tasting tour. Henry, our guide, was very knowledgeable and welcomed questions. You can expect to learn about other plants and trees on the farm as well as the process for chocolate production on the farm. We had the opportunity to taste fruit, honey, and of course chocolate. You will walk a little, but nothing strenuous. They have golf carts for those that might have an issue with mobility. It was a wonderful way to spend a few hours.

This is well worth it!! We had an amazing guide (Jenna) and enjoyed every minute of this tour. The tastings are fun and delicious plus there was so so much to learn about the farm and chocolate process. Highly recommend!

Excellent tour! Henry was so knowledgeable and insightful. We had a blast learning about cacao and chocolate.

5 out of 5. Jenna was a great tour guide through the farm. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all the questions. She enjoyed talking and eating the chocolate, fruit, and honey during the tour.

great tour and guide learned alot and got to taste alot of different food. beautiful place friendly staff

Me and my husband visited the Lydgate Chocolate Farm because we are passionates of chocolate. We really liked the experience because we got to see a lot of things in the farm, including vanilla plantations and other fruits. We were able to try some exotic fruits that were delicious, as well as some of the best chocolate we have ever tried. The tour was very complete and you get to see some amazing flowers on the way, including lots of cacao trees!

Great immersive experience. Loved the tastings especially the fruit. It could have an an hour shorter. Also too many OPC tastings. They should have ended on their chocolate not someone else's.

Sheri was awesome! We had such a great time learning about chocolate. We loved the grounds and would recommend this tour if you like learning and are interested in the process not just sitting around and eating chocolate, but you also get to do that.

My family and I had a great time. Our tour guide was amazing, she was kind and very knowledgeable about the different fruits, chocolates, and history of the farm. The tasting of different fruits, chocolate, and even honey was better than I expected. The variety of plants on the farm are so pretty.

I was so impressed with this tour - learned so much about how chocolate is made - our guide Mason was absolutely amazing - so knowledgeable and very fun!! Highly recommend this tour - the chocolate is the best Ive ever had 👍👍

First off, this chocolate will change everything you thought you loved about chocolate. It is THE best (bar none) out there!
We spent an amazing morning at Lydgate Farms today! After a week of tours and different perspectives on Hawaiian history, who could have imagined there was so much more (and so fascinating!) to learn! The depth of history of the Lydgate family, the expansion of the creation of all-Hawaiian artisanal chocolate is wild! The farm is gorgeous - worth the trip and price of admission in and of itself. But the docent-led tour and tastings were incredibly informative, interesting and entertaining! From the first person who greeted us upon arrival through to the tour and the gift shop (how much chocolate can I get in my suitcase??) - everyone was upbeat, gracious, helpful and kind. Our guide (Mason) was so passionate about the role of agriculture in the community and particularly about the role of cacao and vanilla (and bees!) farming on Kauai. And about the creation of the chocolate itself. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and totally entertaining. This was a blast! So glad we did this. Can’t recommend enough!

This was an amazing tour! We sampled chocolate, honey and leaned about native trees and plants. Sherry was an outstanding guide who had a breadth and depth of knowledge. I highly recommend this tour!

This your was so fun!! We got to put the bee suit on and everything! We leaned all about the honey bee population in Kauai and how they are thriving. We watched the bees at work and tasted their incredible honey! Made me appreciate the bees that much more! 🐝 the tour was informative and you can tell that these bee keepers love their jobs! Thanks for a great tour, Makenna and Alex! We loved it 😍

Mason did a fabulous job directing this tour. We really enjoyed his commentary and he was very knowledgeable about the subject matter. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

I enjoyed every minute of this little over 3 hours tour! The farm workers very knowledgeable about what they are doing, and hard workers, it was fascinating to learn about chocolate, and other local plants. The farm itself beautiful, and everything I tasted was delicious, including plenty of chocolate samples and exotic fruits! Mahalo for being so friendly!

Was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I learned about growing cacao and ate a fair amount of chocolate. Lovely area and well designed tour. Would recommend.

Very informative tour of the farm with many different opportunities to taste both chocolate as well as other unusual crops. The presentation was very thorough and kept us engaged. You could see and feel the passion of the presenters.

Super informative tour, lots of the history of chocolate, vanilla and the local edible species, many many different types of tastings, so much plant knowledge regarding native and invasive species. We enjoyed educational depth about how the chocolate industry works worldwide.

This chocolate farm tour was the highlight of our trip to Kauaʻi the guides were friendly, funny and so passionate it made the whole thing super engaging and memorable. Walking through the farm was gorgeous and the tastings were out of this world – fresh tropical fruit, local honey, and some of the best chocolate I’ve ever had. Every bite showed how much love and care goes into what they do. It wasn’t just delicious, it was fun and educational too, the perfect mix of learning and indulgence. We left happy and with a whole new appreciation for chocolate. If you only do one tour on the island this is the one you don’t want to miss.

The 3 of us (adults, who normally seek out more physically engaging activities), wondered if a 3 hour chocolate tasting outing would be worth the time & money. 100% YES! Our “chocolate guide” Henry, was not only knowledgeable & engaging, but also works at the farm. Henry’s working knowledge of the farm, in addition to his travels & experiences at chocolate farms in other parts of the world, brought insights & authenticity. And yes, you do get to taste and learn about many chocolates, honey & local fruits! We came thinking of chocolate as “candy” & left with a better appreciation of what true, authentic chocolate is! Pure goodness!

WOW, what a great tour. high ratings on Trip Advisor and I had a coworker that went last year and raved about the tour. Beautiful grounds learned a lot about chocolate and how it is ma. plus got to taste a lot of good chocolate. I love dark chocolate, and they have some of the best I have tasted. They had one that is made jointly with Koloa Rum. It was very good I put myself on the waitlist for it. The staff was very knowledgeable and entertaining at the same time. I would highly recommend this tour.

Had a great time. First, I’m so glad we drove up there. Seeing the lush vegetation of Kauai was gorgeous. Kauai has not changed much over the decades. The tour is incredibly well done. It was so thorough, our guide (Mel) was perfect in every way and we did a great job of purchasing ‘supplies’ at the end. The location is so relaxing and tropical. So glad we went.

This was such a wonderful experience. Learning where chocolate comes from and how it is made, touring the farm and tasting so many delicious fruits, and of course tasting the best chocolate I have ever had has ruined me for all other chocolate forever. Mason was so knowledgeable and humorous and made the tour so much fun. 1000% recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Cacao pod. I never knew they came from a pod, and who would have thought there were so many different kinds

What an amazing experience! So glad we did this. Learned a lot about cocao farming, harvest and processing and ate delicious chocolate and local fruits. What an incredible legacy for your family and Kauai you have created. Our presenter and buddy for the morning, Jess, was extremely well spoken, knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. Thanks for the super cool experience.
For those of you on the fence about doing this....this is totally worth it!

Amazing experience, I definitely recommend the chocolate tour for anyone visiting Kauai. Our tour guide Henry was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot on the tour. The chocolate tasted amazing and the views were beautiful. Bring bug spray and wear long pants for mosquitos!

We loved this unique chocolate tour. I personally learned a lot and loved seeing all the different plants, fruits, flowers. It was amazing. Our tour guide Mel was a great educator and also funny and kept everyone interested. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is a LONG activity that could be condensed into a much shorter visit. I am honestly surprised by the number of positive reviews. My mother is a nature lover and would love this tour for all of the insights into the land, the background on what is growing, and the tastings. I'm not a gardener and don't revel in plant types so this wasn't a highlight for me.
The history was interesting. Tasting new fruit for me was fun. We learned about real chocolate makers which was cool, but we likely could have gotten this from the tasting room in town. Everything within this activity took so long. We had 2 people who couldn't walk well in our group so moving between stations took extra time to get them rides.
The stories and jokes were awkwardly scripted and I got several irritating bug bites despite using their homemade bug spray. It was also way too much chocolate. We like fine chocolate but we don't typically consume this much sugar in a week, let alone within one sitting. Lydgate chocolate is very good, the activity was very educational, and we support this establishment. But save yourself the time, expense, and enjoyment and check out their tasting room in town. I'm certain you'll have a similar, if not much better, experience.

This was an outstanding tour. Jessica was our guide. She was fabulous. Very informative about the growing and processing of cacao. OD'd on chocolate samples / tasting. This was one of our three top tours in our Hawaiian cruise. Six star quality.

This is a three hour tour and the time flies by. There is an interactive experience and tasting Fridays, handcrafted, chocolate, fruits, and worried about botanical flowers on the property. Our guide, Sheri, extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, and personable. It was a very enjoyable and interesting experience. Would do it again.

This tour was amazing! Jess was such a great and enthusiastic tour guide for chocolate. We learned so much about the chocolate and vanilla industry and will never think the same of white chocolate again! The passion Jess shows for her work and the history of Lydgate Farms was the best. All the plants in the botanical garden are just breathtaking! I highly recommend coming for the tour and yes you really need the full 3 hours. They supply bug spray make sure and wear some if mosquitoes love you. Thanks again for the great time on a rainy day in Kauai.

Mason was our guide and is obviously passionate about Lydgate Farms but also agriculture in general. The farm is gorgeous and the knowledge shared is so interesting! I thought I knew enough about how chocolate was made but learned I really knew nothing, I may also be scarred after getting to sample craft chocolate, and i can't forget the HONEY - yum.
The 3 hour time is the perfect about to see, learn and taste. Your palate will appreciate this experience as much as your mind.

I highly recommend this tour! It is very informative, and you get to taste many different fruits grown on the island, as well as chocolate from around the world!

We weren't sure what to expect other than trying some chocolates and fruit, but the tour and tasting were much better than expected. Our guide, Brooke, was fantastic. Everyone was friendly. The chocolate and fruit were amazing. And we learned a lot about how good chocolate is made. We would highly recommend this tour.

We had a great tour with Mason! So kind and funny!! We were celebrating my mom's 90th birthday! Wheather you are young or old, this tour is full of knowledge about chocolate, vanilla and fruits! We really enjoyed ourselves and definitely brought home chocolate to share with our family.. Thank you!! Julie & Family

A wonderful experience. Henry (tour guide) was very knowledgeable, funny, and interested in making everyone comfortable and aware of the difference between Chocolate and chocolate candy,
All the staff were attentive and wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable and cared for -they delivered umbrellas to all once we started the tour and were away from the welcome center. We arrived early and were greeted and welcomed immediately. The farm tour was amazing, very educational and included samples of local fruit, macadamia nuts and chocolate! The farm is using regenerative, sustainable agricultural practices. A great experience and well worth the time and money,

This was worth every penny! Brooke was amaaing and a wealth of knowledge. We learned so much, sampled so much and it was a great family outing.I highly recommend Brooke when you go!

Excellent tour guide with lots of details on chocolate and differences between each types, tasting samples each one. Plenty of companion plants and flowers explained during the tour.

So, most people who visit Kauai come for the golf and relaxed vibe. In keeping what that relaxed vibe, a chocolate farm tour should be right up your alley. Did you know that the chocolate industry is booming in the Hawaiian islands? I had no idea (I thought pineapples ?!), so this tour gave all the background info on how the cacao tree crops are grown, the cacao pods harvested, the fermentation and finally the end product. Our tour guide, Jenna, was so well-educated and she kept our attention.
We sampled all kinds of chocolate varieties; I have to mention that I'm a "Team Milk" but this tasting has changed my mind or at least opened my mind and palate.
Bottom line, this is a super informative lesson in chocolate farming/making (they are award winners too) and a worth while side trip on your vacation.

Sherry did an excellent job of explaining the whole process of the world of chocolate. We highly recommend this tour and especially Sherry as your guide. The tour enlightened you of the different types of chocolate, and what to buy when you are in the mood for chocolate. Highly recommend this to tour.

Absolutely amazing. Ours lasted a little over three hours and included chocolate, fruit, honey, and macadamia nut tastings. Very generous servings of all. Our guide Jenna was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the farm and chocolate in general. The farm used to be a botanical garden so we learned many things about native/invasive Hawaiian plants in addition to the cacao trees. Super cool to see vanilla plants, too!! Very expensive products in the gift shop, but the quality of all of them is extremely high.

Our guide was knowledgeable, kind and made it a great event! We learned a lot about chocolate which was fun and enjoyed the beautiful farm!

This was a great tour! Would highly recommend Lydgate Farms. Our guide, Mason, was excellent! Very personable and kept things interesting. And though the tour is pricey, be assured that they are very generous with the samples - so many samples!! We tasted all sorts of chocolate (at least a dozen) and also various fruits, some macadamia nuts, etc. Really nice time.

Very enlightening!! Our host was very knowledgeable and her excitement was addictive. The chocolate is outstanding, especially the one soaked in rum. I just wish it wasn’t sold out of it.

What a wonderful way to spend a morning. Learn all about the farms and chocolate’s history on Kauai. Our tour guide Jess was awesome — knowledgeable and kind, patient with the group’s many questions. Tons of tasting options, including to-die-for tropical fruit, honey, and of course, chocolate! Loved the thoughtful packaging that will make taking home our treats easier. Beautiful scenery and not too difficult to traverse. Had water, bug spray and hand sanitizer at every stop. Even umbrellas to borrow for free at the beginning should they be needed. Recommend bringing a water bottle just so you can have it with you but small cups are available. Love their sustainability, easy parking and over all hospitality. Would definitely recommend for couples. Loved that our tour was child free.

A must do experience. Henry was best tour guide. He was so informative. So pleasant, so fun and truly loves his job. Get finest chocolate tasting....not candy. You get fruit tasting, botanical plant information and chocolate from ground to mouth, you will not regret this.

Our guide Henry taught us so much about the farm, what they are growing there and the process of making chocolate from start to finish. Even though the tour was 3 hours it was never boring. We learned also about honey, vanilla and tropical fruit. We tasted a lot and really got the nuance of chocolate from the agricultural perspective, which helped to understand the flavor profiles. I would highly recommend this tour!!

Brooke was amazing! So engaging & knowledgable about the chocolate making process, super generous with the chocolate, and we definitely got our moneys worth in tasting tropical fruits & honey as well!

I went with a 9 and 11 year old who both thoroughly enjoyed this tour! Our tour guide Henry was enthusiastic and so knowledgeable. He made learning fun for all ages. We loved the fruit and honey tasting element as well as the information about the different plants on the farm. I expected great chocolate and it did not disappoint but the fruit, honey and macadamian nut tasting was a bonus! I highly recommend this tour and tour guide. Thank you for caring so much about educating us on chocolate!

The tour was incredible and the tastings were great! Was fun to try some other fruits in addition to the chocolate.
Jess was a fantastic guide and would recommend trying to get her if you can.

This tour is a mix fun and education with a whole lot of chocolate. In fact, so much chocolate that I had to stop eating. I did sample all the Lydgate chocolate though because it was amazing. The part where there were other chocolates to sample, nope! I only wanted Lydgate. The grounds are also beautiful and Jenna, our guide, was exceptional. Also we tasted fruit and honey...all delicious. This was definitely a day we will remember!

Fun tasting experience. The chocolate is amazing. The tasting guide was fun and energetic. Would highly recommend going

The Lydgate Farm’s setting is beautiful, with its botanical garden and all the lush tropical plants…we even experienced a brief downpour and umbrellas were readily available for anyone who wanted one. Our guide, Jess, was wonderful — cheerful, welcoming, knowledgeable, prepared, professional. Couldn’t ask for more! We learned so much about the art, history and process of craft chocolate making, tasted “exotic” fruits we’d never tried before (the white pineapple and rambutan were favorites!) and just basically added to our appreciation of Kauai. The chocolate and honey tastings really helped you understand all the different flavors you can taste if you know what to look for. We had a great tour and the time flew by! Huge recommendation to book…you won’t be disappointed!

Wow- SO much fun! Well run, gorgeous farm, very cool- would recommend to everyone! Tour guides were fabulous- engaging and knowledgeable. Went out of their way to make sure everyone was attended to- I would definitely do this again. Learned so much about bees, pollen & honey- and yes, there is a HUGE difference between types! Didnt push the souvenirs, which was appreciated, but you will want to buy one of each anyway!! Love you guys 💕

Mason was an awesome tour guide! He made it fun and was a wealth of knowledge. We've been to two chocolate tours on Kauai, and we believe this one is by far the best. Our grandsons, 12 and 14, thoroughly enjoyed the tastings and learned so much. We live near Hershey, PA, and the 14 year old commented that he'll never look at Hershey's chocolate the same way again! :-)

This tour far exceeded our expectations. Be prepared to taste test for three hours straight! Learned so much about growing cacao and processing it into chocolate bars. Even got to taste cacao fruit as well as other produce grown in and around the farm. The freezer pack and insulated bag with purchase was greatly appreciated as we were headed to the airport shortly after our visit. Took lots of goodies home to friends and family!

What a fabulous, informative adventure! Our guides were McKenna and Jules. These kind ladies were amazing with their knowledge, friendlessness, and food prep! We enjoyed experiencing the bee hives and bees up close and personal but in complete safety. We sampled several honey flavors as well as one directly from the hive which they gave us a sample of to take with us. They also shared some recommendations of other places to visit in the area. 10/10 for this tour, staff, and Lydgate Farms! They also have a chocolate tour which was fabulous, 10/10! Do both, guaranteed a great time and unique experiences!

This is an excellent tour that is so well organized and presented. Our guide Jess is first rate! She was knowledgeable and so delightful to interact with. She continually welcomed questions and gave thoughtful, informative answers. The tour is 3 full hours and chock full of details about the farm and its vegetation as well as the cocao growing, harvesting and processing of the cocoa beans. Numerous tastings of not only chocolate but also tropical fruit and honey from the farm. It is helpful and appreciated if you arrive early. There is very helpful signage to direct you to the farm which made it quite easy to find. They provide water, umbrellas, and botanical bug spray! We had a couple of rain showers during our tour so the umbrella was a plus. They also have sheltered stops along the tour which kept us dry during one of the showers. The terrain is mostly flat but there is some downhill walking (and back up). However, they offer golf cart transport if needed. We won’t think the same about chocolate after this tour - it left us with an indelible appreciation of craft chocolate. Easily worth with the cost and highly recommended.

Very educational and a pretty place…. But bugs were bad, facilities were lacking… porta potties…and too sales focused

My husband and I visited Lydgate Farm in winter, 2024, but we didn't book the full tour. We still bought many of their chocolates to bring home to family and friends. So worth it! When we returned to Kaua'i, I didn't want to leave without going back to Lydgate. We visited the new tasting room in Kapa'a and signed up for the full chocolate experience. It was well worth the trip, and not just for the chocolate. I love learning more about all the local fruit trees and being in the mountains with fresh air and greenery. Vanilla bean vines weaved through the space. Birds called in the treetops. Along with the cacao trees, soursop, papaya, and other fruit trees thrived in the climate. Taro grew along the creek, and bamboo thonked together with the wind. Total tranquility. And, of course, we gorged ourselves on delectable, world-class chocolate, honey, and fruit. The spirit of Aloha gave us one last hug before we left the islands, full of chocolate and memories. I'll be going back to Lydgate Farms every time we visit Kaua'i.

Took the tour as a family with two young girls. McKenna and Jess were both great, lots of enthusiasm and energy, learned a lot about bees, and they were great with taking questions. Also learned a lot about cocoa. The honey was delicious, and we had a tasting with a few varieties afterwards. Including eating some honeycomb that was maybe 5 or 10 minutes out of the hive. We all came away with small jars. I left thinking, damn, I really want to go home and start our own hive. And the diversity in honey flavor was eye-opening. Highly recommend, and you may come back with a deep appreciation of bees and honey.

Such an informative tour and so much chocolate. Almost reached my wife’s chocolate capacity. Mason is an amazing guide and chocolate farmer/sommelier.

Our tour guide was Mason and he was a 10/10! He was so informative, friendly, funny and talented! Not only did we learn so much about how chocolate is made, but he also sang the wedding song in Hawaiian for us as many of us in our tour group were celebrating anniversaries. We tasted so many different kinds of chocolate, macadamia nuts, and fruits. What a unique experience! The farm is beautiful with so many plants and trees to see and to learn about. All the staff members were so friendly too. We highly recommend visiting Lydgate Farms!

Awesome tour. I would definitely recommend. Our guide was Jess and she was very knowledgeable. We sampled fruit and chocolate.

Excellent info on cacao, chocolate making, types of chocolate. Add to that the info on tropical fruit. Add to that seeing all the plants with fruit growing. Add to that the tasting and tasting. Also vanilla explained and seen, including the demo of having to pollinate by hand.
Sherry was a great tour guide, thank you your majesty. 😉

Brooke was a wonderful guide. Provoded a great cacao education in a fun way. Enjoyed the chocolate and all of the flowers and trees on the farm property.

Friendly, extensive, interesting, lots of new and very helpful staff. Highly recommended to all who want to learn something

The tour was wonderful and educational. Brook was very well informed. The tasting was awesome! So many different flavors in chocolate. Ate my fill!! They definitely didn't skimp on the tasting samples

An overall view about agriculture what Lydgate Farm produces and what plants and fruits they have in this beautiful part of the island. Our guide Alexandra explained in an entertaining way everything worth knowing first in theory and later on on site. She was funny, friendly and very sympathetic and answered all questions and gave tips for island exploration

We loved this 3 hour chocolate tasting tour! Our guide mason was super cheerful entertaining and knowledgeable. Pro tip, bring a water bottle and wear long sleeves and long pants!! There are a ton of mosquitos and you won’t regret covering up :)
They provide water, snacks, and bug spray

So beautiful a setting for the tour. Great tour leader, Jess, who was knowledgeable and personable. She knows her stuff. Fascinating education about chocolate.

What an amazing experience. Our tour guide Jess was friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. The whole experience was the perfect balance of walking, sitting, enjoying the farm and the gorgeous setting. The chocolate was out of this world! And there was plenty of it. It was a surprise to also taste various fruits and their home grown honey.
Jess MADE the experience! We really feel like we lucked out with this tour! HIGHLY recommend!!

Of all the places we visited on Kauai, this was hands-down our favorite! It's more than just a tour - it's a story about the journey that their chocolate takes. The entire staff takes incredible care of their groups, including providing cold water and essentials along the way. We left with bellies full of chocolate and fruit samples and a far better understanding of not only their process, but chocolate in general. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and the areas we stopped for extended education and sampling had seating and shade. And of course, we had to pick up a few items at the gift shop at the end. Highly recommend!

This tour was fantastic! So much more than just chocolate - it was a botanical garden tour, honey tasting, exotic fruit tasting, and chocolate tasting all in one. We learned so much about plants and of course the cacao growing process & refinement into different types of chocolate. Highly recommend!! Henry was our tour guide and he was great, very informative and friendly.

Great family experience! Enjoyed the fruit tasting, which included ice cream bananas, starfruit, dragonfruit, and white pineapple. Enjoyed learning about the farm to bar process. Especially enjoyed the chocolate experience and purchased at the end to take home. Our host, Jess, was very knowledgeable.

Super educational, fun tasting all the samples and experiencing the the farm on foot. Lots of stop and rest stations with water and insect spray

We recently were in Kauai and did the Chocolate Tour at Lydgate Farms….what an outstanding experience. It was three hours of very interesting education along with delicious tasting treats of chocolate, fruit and honey. Our tour guide Jess did a great job with her knowledge, her eagerness to have us try different things and her overall pleasant personality! This was hands down one of the best tours we have ever taken. Highly recommended if you are in Kauai!

Sheri was our tour guide, and did a fabulous job telling us about the history of Lydgate, the process of chocolate making, seed to square. What a wonderful time we had, and the chocolate and fruit tasting were exquisite! Such a wonderful experience for us folks from Minnesota.

We had a perfect time with our host Brooke !
The tour was super interesting, the products we tasted were really exotic, delicious and top tier quality and the farm itself is a stunning luxurious place. We also bought several delicious products, chocolate and honey. I would recommend anyone who is in Kauai to do the chocolate tour! Thank you very much to the team

This was such an informative tour and blended with perfect chocolate! Such a great experience! There was so much to try and sample. Mason showed us the process from growing to making quality chocolate and why there is a difference! Not a long walk a family could easily do this! We will be back to do this tour again!

The Lydgate Farms artisanal chocolate making tour is fantastic and combines learning and deliciousness in the best way possible. Our guide, Sheri, was so knowledgeable with a great sense of humor and storytelling - and she wasn’t stingy with the chocolate! I learned a lot about truly enjoying each bite while paying attention to the unique qualities in flavor, scent, smoothness - the undertones of fruit, the specifics of this particular cacao harvest. Oh boy, I might be headed toward chocolate snobbery…
Kidding / Not kidding 🌺

There is much to know, apparently, about where your chocolate bar comes from and what makes your hot mocha drink taste so delicious. This is a great tour for gardeners, chocolate lovers, botanists, honey connoisseurs, and anyone interested in the science of developing the cocoa fruit which makes it all happen. Exceedingly well presented tour and information along with delicious chocolate, fruit, and honey tasting. A world champion gold medal awarded farm experience.

We visited on April 24th 2025 with Sherri as our guide. We learned Sherri was a Maryland native and immediately bonded. Sherri was full of energy, funny, very informative and an overall pleasure to have as a guide. The farm was lovely. Also, the chocolate and surprise additional fruit and honey were all DELICIOUS! This was a fun day and will always be a memorable experience in Kauai. We love Kauai, Lydgate and we WILL return. Thanks!

The chocolate tour was a highlight of our Kauai vacation. Along with amazing chocolate tastings throughout, we learned so much about the island’s biodiversity and where our food comes from. Our tour guide, Henry, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The farm is beautiful. So glad we took the time to do this.

Jess was a fantastic tour guide, great experience all around, she was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed all the tasting!

I’m starting to finish the property captivated us, the guide was not only incredibly entertaining, but we were blown away the amount of information he gave us. And the chocolate was phenomenal. This is one of those places you revolve your entire trip around. 10/10

Excellent tour! Learned a lot about chocolate growing and harvesting. Learned about honey, vanilla and fruit. Tasted honey and several fruits. Tasted a lot of chocolate! They are very generous in the 12 or so samples! Great tour!

If you think you knew about chocolate, this tour will take your knowledge to an entirely different level. And will do so in a fun, informative and fascinating way. The grounds are spectacular with its birds, foliage, trees and plants (shout out to the Japanese Red Lantern blooms). The tour is well organized with small groups and our tour guide was simply stated: amazing. She was extremely knowledgeable and kept us engaged the entire time. You cant "fake" this job and there is no doubt our guide had a true love for what she does. It showed the entire time. The entire chocolate process is explained from beginning to end and is fascinating in every aspect. This is a 100% must do tour. It is a solid 3 hours and rest assured, we had so much chocolate at the end, my family and I could not eat another piece. After this tour, you will never eat another store bought, commercial candy bar again, guaranteed. Don't miss this!

We really enjoyed this tour of Lydgate Farms. We booked this last minute when we saw rain on the forecast and we learned so much about the history of plants on Kauai as well as the process of making artisanal chocolate. Great time and a beautiful setting!

This tour was very conceptually created. Each station and narrative was well planned and executed. Jenna, was very thoughtful, creative and expert in chocolates, fruits and local geography. Her story telling art, with clues and knowledge about chocolate was exceptional. I highly recommend the place and if you miss this place, you missed an amazing opportunity to not know the best place in Kauai. Absolutely recommend and do try every fruit!

The tour was everything I was hoping it would be. Informative and I interactive. Makena and Roni's live for the farm and the bees, their bees, came through in an authentic way that made me love the bees too. I asked so many questions and Makena and Roni graciously and enthusiasticly answered thrm all. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone interested in learning about bees and honey, and so much more.

This was a fabulous tour, made even better with our tour guide Jess! It isn’t just a tour about cacao and tasting chocolate, it is a very well rounded botanical experience. Jess gave us a comprehensive history of the cacao growers as well as the history of Lydgate Farms specifically. We then toured the farm. Her knowledge and ability to answer an array of questions was very impressive. The farm tour didn’t just focus on the cacao, but also on everything that was growing there. Because of that, it felt like a great botanical garden tour. We then had a fruit and honey tasting that was really great tasting as well as informative. Lastly was the chocolate tasting which was a great finale!!
I would strongly recommend this tour while you are on the island of Kaua’i. And if you are lucky enough to have Jess as your guide you will have a wonderful experience!!!

We were pretty excited about this tour as we love chocolate and the prospect of visiting an actual farm where the cacao beans were grown and learning about the process seemed interesting. This tour was about much more than just chocolate and helped us to learn many fascinating and little known details about Hawaii and it's abundant fruit crops. We had the opportunity to taste several native Hawaiian fruits along with many chocolate varieties. Our guide, Brooke, had extensive knowledge about the farm and it's processes and was very enthusiastic. We were quite impressed and are still enjoying the delicious chocolate bars we purchased to bring home with us. If you are on the fence about taking this tour because of the cost, be assured that it is well worth the price!

Last day on the island with a late flight so decided to do the Kauai Chocolate Tasting tour. It was really fun. Jenna was an amazing guide and it is a very interesting and very TASTY EXPERIENCE! If you are on the fence about how the experience will be, definitely go! It was a great experience to end our trip to Kauai.

I was initially hesitant about the price, but this tour turned out to be absolutely worth it. The three hours flew by thanks to the perfect balance of walking, sitting, and tasting. I loved that it wasn’t just about chocolate, it included cacao, tropical fruits, honey, and fascinating plant life. Our guide Henry was fantastic, he was informative, engaging, and full of great insights. The samples were incredibly generous and I nearly tapped out! If you're on the fence, just go. This tour was a treat!

Our guide Henry was excellent. He took great care of us. We waked around and looked at the plants and he explained everything to us. We sampled several native fruits and 10 chocolates which we were able to compare and give a personal rating. This tour is for everyone! They have a motorized small vehicle that assists those who need it. It was well worth the price as it was a 3 hour tour. Also, this is an activity you can do rain or shine. Umbrellas were provided for use. It was an amazing tour and I highly recommend it. Reserve early as it does sell out.

Superb tour..left me with a lot of knowledge about chocolate. Henry was a superb guide and took his time explaining in great detail the cacao fruit and the histroy of chocolate. The tour itself was excellent with fruit and chocolate tasting. Highly recommend.

It was me and my wife’s first time on Kauai and we signed up for the Lydgate Farm chocolate tour before arriving. It was fantastic! Henry was our tour guide and did a phenomenal job. He provided a tremendous amount of information about the process of making chocolate, as well as all of the plant life and fruits grown locally. It was obvious that Henry has both a knowledge and passion for his job! And of course, we purchased some chocolate to go when we finished the tour and we have been noshing on it since!

Lydgate Chocolate Farm tour is amazing! It’s like being in a botanical garden and learning all about growing chocolate. We walked to several covered areas for (generous) tasting. They have a golf cart to help those (like me) who need it. Worth your time and money!

Exceptional tour of the Lydgate Chocolate Farm. 3 hours that went by quickly as it was so interesting. Shari, who was probably the best tour guide I’ve ever had, led us on a fascinating walk that went from fertilization to finished product, explaining all things chocolate. Highly recommended!

What a beautiful way to learn about how chocolate is grown and see all of the amazing vegetation that thrives in Kauai. We were blessed with a light rain while the sun shined down. Tasted some of the best chocolate I have ever had and bonus….they also make honey and vanilla beans!!!

We were so excited for this tour but it turned out to be our least favorite day on the island so far. The tour was very long and boring. Everyone in my family was so ready for it to be done at the two hour mark. During this vacation we also went to Kauai Coffee and Allerton/McBryde Gardens. Both were great!
The Lydgate Farms tour is scripted including canned jokes and greetings between staff and a lot of self-enhancing about their chocolate. In a nutshell I'd describe the tour as a lot of sitting and standing while listening to a lecture. A lecture that could easily be covered in 1 hour.
The fruit and honey tasting was great and we all enjoyed that section of the tour. The rest was pretty slow and we didn't really love the chocolate. We kept asking each other how it's possible that the reviews are so high. it just doesn't make sense. It appeared to us that everyone on our tour was bored and they got in their cars and left very quickly.
All in all it was a 6 hour excursion (drive time, quick lunch in Kapa'a, tour, drive back) and took up basically our whole day. It was not worth the time spent (even if it had been free) and it was easily the most expensive day we've had on the island.

Excellent tour by Sheri. We learned so much about chocolate farming and the entire process. Tasted yummy chocolate in all different stages as well as tropical fruits and honey. Explanations were easy to understand without being “dumbed down”. Very well done and highly recommended!

The tour was an excellent presentation on the islands honey.
To actually suit up and experience removal of the honey was exciting! Then of course, tasting that fresh honey was a delight.
Makenna and Sara shared interesting facts on the bees and how the hive works.
Definitely a must go to tour.

This is best excursion (tour) I did while in Kauai (and I did several). Extremely detailed information was provided. I learned so much about local fruits and the chocolate making process. You walk for the tour but there is nothing challenging about the walk and they break it up with sitting down. You spend time tasting the fruit then later on the tour, you taste the great chocolate! The tour guide did a great job!

Wow… amazing experience.. Henry was our guide.. very funny, informative & knowledgeable about cocoa and all other botanic Kauai things. I feel so much smarter .. officially converted to cocoa snob .. hard to be surprised at my age .. all our family enjoyed !! Highly recommend!

We had a blast at the Lydgate Farms Chocolate Tour! Lots of taste testing and learned a bunch of cool things abut how chocolate is made. Fun tour and worth it!

We had such an amazing experience. McKenna and Jules were so amazing, knowledgeable, talented, comfortable, funny, and all around just so nice to be around. We would love to come back in the future, especially if we get McKenna and Jules again! Those two make such a perfect work duo together!
Thank you again!
-Jack and Olivia Agostini (and our little babe on the way really enjoyed when I ate the honey!!) ❤️

One of the best tours I’ve been on. Very informative. Our guide Jesse was terrific. Tried various local fruits and plenty of chocolate. I highly recommend this tour.

This tour was a suggestion from our travel planner, and WOW! Jess was our tour guide and we found out how cacao is grown, tried some local fruit, and then took a trip into chocolate tastebud reprogramming.
If you love chocolate and only ever buy from the store, your tastebuds are bored. You don’t know what you are missing. And Jess was a great guide, but everyone at Lydgate is great!
Must take this tour!!!!

We had an amazing experience during our cacao farm tour! Brook was our guide and she is not only knowledgeable but also passionate about farming, cacao, and the beauty of Kauai. Her enthusiasm is infectious! The tour lasted three hours but passed so quickly! We learned about cacao growing and processing and got to taste several samples of the most delicious chocolate! We also learned about growing vanilla and several fruits. We even picked fruit off the trees and tasted them too. Don’t worry about the weather or mosquitos. They have umbrellas and covered areas with seating and homemade natural bug repellent for you to use. If you get the chance to take this tour, don’t pass it up. We’ll be enjoying our tour long after we are home with all the chocolate we are bringing back with us!

Awesome Experience. Learned so much and the chocolate tasting was so delicious. Brooke, our guide, was very knowledgeable.

Mason was our tour guide and he was super engaging and informative! Learned so much about what goes into artisan chocolate made in the US

This tour was so fun and educational. Our guide Mason was hilarious and full of so much information about not only chocolate but about all of the different trees and flora that grows on the farm. Well worth the price of the ticket. Amazing chocolate. We really enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend.

This tour and tasting was the best event of our vacation. It was fun, educational, interesting and entertaining. Jess was our guide, and she was fantastic. And the chocolate! Wow! Excellent!

This was our second trip to Lydgate farms. We brought friends with us this time! Jess did an excellent job explaining the regenerative farming practices and was knowledgeable, engaging and entertaining. We loved every minute! Oh, and you will never want a “candy” bar made of cheap chocolate again!

We had an amazing tour! The guide was very knowledgeable about the chocolate making process as well as all of the other plants being grown on property. This is a must do for any Kauai visit!

This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of our trip to Kauai!! We knew nothing about the Chocolate Farm and made our decision to go relying totally on the Trip Advisor reviews that we read. Jess was our tour guide and she was so knowledgeable, so clear in her explanations, so energetic and passionate about the farm and it's processes and frankly, she was just so friendly we could not have possibly asked for more. She answered all of our questions, taught us so much and we enjoyed so many chocolate and honey samples. Also met Will, the owner, and he was very nice as well. Do this tour!! You will surely want to add to the positive reviews. Worth every cent and every minute and a memory we will cherish for a long, long time. Thank-you, Jess for making this such a great day for us.

The tour was fun and educational. Our guide, Alexandria, was knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share her knowledge. The chocolate was beyond good. I wish they would hire me to market their products in New England. It would be so much fun.

We had an excellent experience at Lydgate Chocolate Farm on Kauai, and would recommend it highly as an informative and entertaining tour. The tour is a well done compilation of cacao cultivation, chocolate creation, and chocolate tasting (think wine tasting but with chocolate). This is coupled with a walking tour of their grounds which hold very diverse and interesting tropical plant species in addition to the cacao trees. The products they sell at the end of the tour are of excellent quality (honeys as well as chocolates). We also highly recommend Henry who was our tour guide at Lydgate. He was among the best tour guides we’ve ever had, and we have experienced a number of tour guides internationally. Bring good walking footwear and be prepared for a full three hour tour - well worth it.

AMAZING experience! Sheri, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgable and friendly! We learned about the tedious and intricate care that goes behind farming cacao, vanilla, and other exotic fruits! The quality of the chocolate and fruits were fantastic. We HIGHLY recommend this tour!

Excellent tour with tons of information that I didn't know about chocolate. My mother was from England and, as a child, she would keep the chocolate boxes when they were empty so that she could smell the aroma. Opened my eyes to all that is involved with preparing the chocolate that I also love.

Great tour. Learned so much about local chocolate fruit and honey. I would highly recommend this tour. We sampled at least 9 varieties of chocolate.

Henry, our guide, was so knowledgeable and obviously enjoyed his work at the farm. He answered questions well. The younger children were having a great experience as well. The tasting and botany lessons were top notch.

The experience was super nice after I’ve found the place. I would recommend to leave earlier for the tour as it was a little difficult to locate the place. Great place and super nice vibe.

Henry was AWESOME!! He was super knowledgeable, engaging, and very friendly. The experience was less about throwing out facts (although we did learn lots of interesting facts) and more about telling the story of the farm as well as chocolate. I would list this as one of my favorite tours ever and recommend it to all!!

This was an amazing tour. We tried so many different chocolates AND fruits. Sheri was amazing and my youngest figured out quickly that saying “yes your majesty” would get him extra (he fully took advantage of this). We learned a lot about the chocolate process and I found dark chocolate I actually like!!

We enjoyed our tour and tasting. Our guide was awesome. You could tell she loved her job and liked to share!

Great Tour of their gardens and cocoa farm. Very in depth discussions of cocoa and chocolate in general. They also have a botanical garden that includes vanilla beans, peppercorns, star fruit, dragon fruit, rambutan, sugar cane, a palm tree with coconuts, and honey bees. We were able to sample most of their fruit, their chocolate, and their honey. We loved the knowledge of our guide. I highly recommend

We had the best tour of Lydgate Farms, sampling Kauaʻi Chocolate grown locally at their farm in Olohena! It was a great experience walking through the lush agriculture of the island while exploring all of the unique flavorings Hawaiʻi has to offer. 100% recommend if you're visiting Kauaʻi!

This was such an amazing experience! Our tour guide, Sheri, was super knowledgeable and funny. My family and I learned so much about chocolate, vanilla, tropical fruit, and so much more. Our view on chocolate has changed for the better. We also met our “sassy” Sam Mewis look alike who greeted us and started the tour off on a good note. Totally worth it and can’t wait to return to do the bee hive experience!

I will never look at (or eat) a Hershey bar the same way again after learning how quality chocolate is made.
Our guide, Jenna, was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, had answers to all our questions as she showed us the cacao pods while still on their trees and then shared with us many samples of chocolate — Lydgate Farms’ own, plus samples from other companies — that made very real (tasting is believing) over the course of our full three hours how everything from when you harvest the pods to how you ferment the cacao fruit translates directly into how the finished chocolate tastes.
We did some honey tasting as well, and watched as Jenna pollinated one of the farm’s many vanilla plants by hand.
A very worthwhile afternoon in a great setting. The place is a 26-acre botanical garden as well as a working farm.

Jess was our guide. She is fantastic and very knowledgeable! Her commentary flowed beautifully. You can tell how passionate she is. When we asked questions about the foliage or a process, she knew it all and didn’t skip a beat resuming the commentary where she left off. She made me a believer in the craftsmanship!
Only thing I might change a bit is asking about what we smelled. Went on little too

This was an amazing experience! We learned about cacao farming & were able to sample several local fruits. I ate so much chocolate. It was probably the best tour I’ve done in the islands. Highly recommend. Sheri, our guide, was incredible! I’m excited to watch the farm grow & see the ever evolving products they create.

This was a fun way to spend a few hours. There was so much chocolate to taste! It was also great that they included items other than chocolate. The Hawaiian fruit tasting was a highlight. It was also helpful that a list of the different fruits was provided to take with you to one of the local Farmer’s Markets. Our guide Jess was both enthusiastic and informative. Overall this was an entertaining and very well organized tour.

The tour far exceeded our expectations - it was super informative, engaging and fun! Didn't think we could spend 3 hours but our tour guide was amazing! He was super knowledgeable and engaging. And best of all - so much chocolate! Highly recommended!

We just returned from our chocolate tasting tour at Lydgate Farms. What a treat it was! We were hesitant to book it because of the cost, but after reading the reviews and how people were raving about the tour, we decided to take it. We are so glad we did.
Our guide for the three hour tour was Brooke. She is passionate and so knowledgeable about everything chocolate related. And not only did the tour include facts and information about chocolate, we also received information about responsible, forming and native fruits of Hawaii.
The tour started in a covered area where we were introduced to some of the basics about chocolate. We then walk a short distance where we see the cocoa plants and seeds and told more about the process. Along the way Brooke pointed out various fruits that were still hanging in the trees. One of the interesting things we saw were vanilla beans. From there, we went to another covered area where we were introduced to native fruits, and we were able to sample several different fruits. After another short walk. we went to another covered area where we did the chocolate tasting. Here we received several samples of different types of chocolates, along with more information and instructions on the chocolate processing.
The entire 3hour tour was just so informative. I will never look at chocolate the same again. In the gift area we had the opportunity to purchase different chocolate products and they were put into an insulated bag so that we could get them home without melting.
We found the tour to be well worth the price and we are so glad that we booked it. Just know we that there is walking and standing involved as well as sitting for the instruction portion of the presentation. Young children may not enjoy this activity, but for adults, it was a great experience and one we would do again.

I was running late due to traffic and they called to check in with me so I wouldn’t miss anything- so even before I arrived the staff went above and beyond. I toured with Mason and it was such a spectacular time. At no point are you just meandering and bored, I have a short attention span and I was locked in the entire time. Our guide, Mason, was hilarious, engaging, and incredibly personable. He remembered many of our names throughout the tour somehow as well. The grounds are easy to navigate and they provide transport for those with disabilities. Along the way you get a chance to try a few different fruits they have on the grounds and smell some cool plants too. They don’t just inform you about chocolate, they talk about a lot more and it was all around a lovely time. I’m so glad I found this tour. Also- the chocolate is the best I’ve ever had. If you’re a foodie don’t miss this.
Overall:
Experience: engaging and fun
Guide: 15/10
Taste: unbelievable

I had so much fun learning about the farm and how the chocolate was made, the guide was wonderful and entertaining. (if only I was 30 years younger ;) haha) I was never a real chocolate fan before but tasting Lydgate chocolate made a me a lover of Lydgate chocolate. I was really nice to learn so much about the farm and how it works. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Absolutely LOVED the Chocolate Farm Tour at Lydgate Farms! These folks have thought of everything to help you enjoy your visit here. As a professional chef with many years experience in event planning, I notice when a business has anticipated the needs of their guests. Above and beyond! The chocolate tasting was so expertly conducted and truly delicious. You will leave having learned a ton about cacao and the cultivation of it and having tasted SO much of the highest quality chocolate! What Will Lydgate and the entire staff is doing on this farm is truly special and you CANNOT miss this place if you are on Kauai.

If you like chocolate, you will love Lydgate Chocolate. Take the tour with Mel. She was funny and informative. A must see!

Upon arrival we were greated, checked in and directed to parking by Ronni….she was warm welcoming and professional!
Jess was our guide/instructor she discussed the cacao trees how they grow with the pods bursting from the trunk mot branches. The farm is truly organic….compost goes into their orchards.
We tasted many Hawaiian specific fruit… we had 12-15 chocolate samples and comparisons.
We saw many tropical plants and the vanilla vines!
jess was very warm and welcoming of all questions.
She loves her job and farm!
Educational dialogue!
Wear long sleeves and pants comfortable shoes. Umbrellas provided. Not a tour for kids…
Informative and Delicious Tour and Tasting
Henry was a fabulous tour guide. Very knowledgable; easy to understand and helpful with many thing Kauai. Not only on the culture of cacao beans and processing of it into delicious chocolate, but tasting all the different varieties of chocolate that they make in-house. Additionally, lectures cover all sorts of flora in the area and how their chocolate is entirely done in house: from planting to harvesting to processing the beans into finished chocolate. Try the Cacao Tea also!!! A well spent morning; learned a lot about Kauai and agriculture of this wonderful food.
