My daughter, myself and a friend hung out here on a Saturday. We had a great time. Everyone was glad to be out and enjoying the weather and water. Due to the recent virus issues it was just nice to be our and about while we still practiced safe measures. Great atmosphere, people were all nice and of various age groups. Nice place to enjoy the day as a family, couple or with friends.

Pleasant, Busy, Shopping & Restaurants abundant.
Take your time & enjoy the visit. Casual atmosphere and fun.

This was a neat experience to walk along the same streets as some really cool famous surfers and singers. This area has some great stores that you can obtain some gifts.

This is a " must see" area. There are many shops to brouse thru. And plenty of places to dine. From sit down dining to fast food, there is something here for everyone. On Tuesdays, they close Main St. for about 6 hours to allow vendors to set up their wares as well as a fresh Farmers Market to buy from. Live music was playing and they set up rock walls and other obstacle courses. They had a petting zoo there for the kids as well. You can take a self guided walking tour that shows many locations that were around in the 50's thru current times.

Stopped for a little beach clothing shopping. Lots of nice stores and cool clothing. I like the area, its many shops, and restaurants. One of my favourite areas of the USA. I’ve been coming here for over 25 years.

There are many places to see and visit here. Souvenir shops are rather expensive though. Better to save your money!

Main Street is fun Tuesday nights when they block off the street and have a farmers market, local entertainment, vendors and fun things for the kids. I go around the corner to Sanchos tacos on PCH for taco Tuesday. It's more of a community vibe and lots of fun to check out. The restaurants and bars are open for business too.

All the restaurants and shops are conveniently located within a couple blocks. Lots of outdoor seating and friendly locals

Its a small downtown thats easily accessable from Huntington beach by walking, bikes or a vehicle, the square block radius holds feativals and has resturants throughout, we enjoyed downtown and its shops and would visit the area again!

There are so many places here to eat and drink you will be able to find what you are looking for on main street.

We stayed nearby, just so we could enjoy the beautiful walk, shop the shops that you don't see in the malls and eat at some fun restaurants!

I love supporting local merchants. Great stores with reasonable prices. Prefer Main Street over the shops at Pacific City.

There are a lot of unique stores in the area and some wonderful restaurants. We had a wonderful time shopping and eating while we were there.

Got dropped off here by an Uber as I wanted to go to Huntington Beach but I saw all the cool shops restaurants. Here before heading to the beach really neat little stores with little trinkets and many many restaurants

Surf City Nights with Main Street shut down, music and food and a good time. I'm also a big fan of the store that serves the best funnel cake.

Im sorry but Downtown HB is very overrated. There are only a handful of GREAT restaurants and the area is very trashy, literally.I live in HB and am always so disappointed with the up keep of this area. Also tons of homeless young adults frequent the area, lots of drugs and drunk people as it has a popular bar scene. Don't eat from the bars, just a warning. Also lots of drunk drivers in the area and not too much police force.

Plenty of food and music. Fun vibe. Shopping plentiful. Beach amazing. So clean can walk for miles and miles. Shells galore to pick and take home.

We hang out here after my weekend runs at the beach. Good fun and first class people watching. My favorite place to go.

A nice walk; lot's of shops and restaurants to peek into. Be sure to catch the Surf Museum on a cross street about half way up.
The Huntington Beach pier connects at the bottom of Main St., and you should walk out to the end of it. You see lots of surfers and fishermen; and a few shops. Get the kids a shark tooth necklace for $5.

Downtown Huntington Beach is a great spot to visit. Tons of shopping and a great place to people watch as well. Very busy however so be prepared for the crowds.

Tuesday is the day to visit Downtown. After 5pm there is a farmers market with various entertainment thru the downtown street corners. Taco Tuesday is at most restaurants and the farmers market has food vendors that have delicious offerings including tacos. Stroll across the PCH highway and watch the sunset .

The HB downtown is a great place to walk and shop. The choices for eating are great as well. If you get a chance head downtown on a Tuesday evening. The street is blocked to traffic and there are many fun things to see and partake in at that time.

We went there to shop and ran into a Farmers Market . It was the great place of all. Lot of things to choose from.

Always a good time and you can stretch your dog's legs, grab some grub and take in the sights. Lots of cool local art and people watching. Highlight is catching the sunset off the pier.

We enjoyed walking around the downtown area. Lots of shops and people watching. Plenty of trendy food establishments that I would have loved to try. Additionally there were several surf and clothing shops. When we arrived there were several sidewalk sales probably from surfing competition.

Cool atmosphere! Main Street is closed to traffic and the entire street is lined with tents and vendors. There was also a climbing wall, bungee jump for kids, and live band. It gets very crowded and parking was a little tricky.

Nice clean area near the Huntington Pier. Lots of shops and food options. On Tuesdays they have a farmers market year round. They also shut down the streets for parades.

Back in my teens and early 20's, hanging out in Huntington Beach was almost a daily occurrence when school let out. We would take bus #57 all the way to the beach and then hoof it to downtown Huntington Beach in the evening.
A lot has changed over the years. It's gotten much more crowded. During the summer it's like Costo at Christmas. It's impossible to have any personal space. It gets the same way on most of the major holidays. Even though I have seen all manner of people, downtown Huntington Beach caters mostly to teens and 20 somethings. There are some really fun bars. My personal favorite is Perqs. It actually caters to a pretty mixed crowd. There are also some good, albeit overpriced restaurants. There are also a few surf shops as well. It's a nice place to stroll in the evening when the crowds have thinned out.
Nice place to stroll, but personally I prefer to stroll on the pier, as it's not so hectic and frantic as downtown. It's a few notches slower. Much more relaxing.

We love to hang out here. We like to eat at many of the restaurants, or just drink coffee and people watch. Since we are motorcyclists, we visit the area by Starbucks where you can see some of the neatest bikes. People are friendly and there are all kinds. Summer gets really busy but everyone is having a good time. There are a lot of shops and lots of events all year round, especially Tuesday Surf City Nights with entertainment and food for all and Farmer's Market on Friday afternoons. There is still a small town feel, though it is disappearing. Still we enjoy it and totally support our local police who keep the peace!

Great place to shop surfing gears and clothes
And they had some markets on the streets at the weekend
Nice town

We were visiting friends who live walking distance from downtown. We had the opportunity to visit many places for meals or drinks! I would recommend this area. The beach area was awesome as well!

Nice set of shops but nothing special. It is your typical town with bars and shops that are good for local and people from out of town

Very beautiful at night to walk and grab a beer or a drink with friends also there are many restaurants and shops specially souvenirs shops and surfing things. I loved how active it is and there is always something special there. When I was there there was a food exhibition. You must go there while in Huntington

There are lots of individual shops and Pacific City mall which has Lot 579. Plenty to keep you busy here.

Enjoyed the shops, lots of restaurants, a close walk to the pier parking lot for $15 per day or a per hour fee that was reasonable. Great beach with nice boardwalk for miles.

From Main street to Fifth Street...lots of shops and great restaurants! So many places to choose from where to start???
Places open early for breakfast, etc...
Parking available for $2.00 by the CVS!
Great atmosphere!
Dog Friendly!!!

Main St is the place to visit when in Huntington Beach. Everything is here. Great restaurants, shopping and nick nack stores, Shopping for surf apparel there are two great stores at the end of main st at PCH
Tuesdays are great to visit because they close Main Street from PCH to Orange and have a street fair with vendors bring their goods to sell.
Oh yea don't forget the restaurants along Main Street.

The downtown area has shops, restaurants, bars, and a mall. It's really nice and upscale in a beachy kind of way. It gets crowded so parking is tough to find. There are meters everywhere that only go for 2 hours at a time. I was always going back to put money in the meter. But really nice time. They put some new stores and a new hotel down the PCH about a half mile that is more like a mall with restaurants. Super town.

Bucket list checked off.
Make it a long day for this area.
Beach in the morning, visit the shops and restaurants during the day.
Easy walking distance.
Too bad my bags were already full and could not shop some more.

Travel back-in-time to Jimmy Gilmer & the Fireballs, the Beach Boys and anything Surf City related. This place has great food and nostalgic memories.

Lots of specialty shops and great places to eat. People watching, walking onto the Pier, watching the surfers and the sunsets, eating, drinking, shopping - downtown has it all !!!!!!!!!!!!

A beautiful beach city with plenty of shops and restaurants. They have a Tuesday night farmers market with plenty of booths of a wide variety of items and produce. It is on Tuesday's year round.

I've lived here for 30 years and seen many changes. Every teen in town wants to work at one of the surf stores. Main St and PCH is great people watching, shopping for non surfers and eating out. Tuesday nights are for closing the street to become a pedestrian mall, Farmer's Market and craft seller stalls. Always a fun time for all ages.

Main Street Huntington Beach turns into a fair atmosphere on Tuesday's. Lots of vendors sale gift items, jewelry, cloths and unique specialty. Also you will find great food selections, flowers, fruits and many other. Side walk cafes line up on the sidewalk. I enjoyed sitting on one of th m with taco and beer and do a little people watching as everyone just cruising down the street. The street is closed for traffic open only for foot traffic. Great day to spend the evening

The little shops are not what you expect or have seen elsewhere. Want a unique souvenir? Head for the board shop and snag a t-shirt.

Downtown Huntington Beach is a typical "beach city" with a downtown of funky shops and restaurants from fast food to fine dining. Every Tuesday is a street fair with fresh fruits and veggies, pop-up restaurants, live music and other attractions for adults and kids.
You will see locals roaming the streets in beach attire and tourists wandering.
A few blocks down Pacific Coast Highway is Pacific City and brand new facility with many more shops and restaurants. At the West end of Main Street and the Huntington Beach Pier.

We came to visit the awesome beach, and spent some time visiting and shopping. Was very clean and relaxing.

Wow- what a beautiful beach and downtown district. Lots of beachy type stores to browse, restaurants on the beach, and the most fun was renting a 6 seater bicycle and pedalling up and down the beach. Worth the drive from LA>

It's getting more and more crowded, so if that's your thing, this is a good place to be. More stores and hotels are opening, so expansion is continual. I live here so it's difficult to assess the tourist factor - but the beach is a nice draw.

Came here for walk and there was a car show. Tons of cars lined the street and lots of shopping along way.

This is nice place to see and enjoy foods. You can combine with seeing Huntington Beach Pier. More vendors on the street on every Tuesday afternoon. It is great if you be here on July 4th parade day and during the US Open Surfing Week too.

This is a spot to enjoy and people watch. They have bars that let you do your pub crawl. Tuesday nights they have the street fair. Farmers come out and you have your fresh veggies. They offer street food and kids rides. If yo have not been there before, you must try visit.

Grew up here most of my life. It's way too crowded for me but I'm an introvert. People love going to downtown HB for the variety of restaurants, bars, shops and also people watching. The beach is directly across the street as is the pier. It's great for people visiting the area, less for locals living nearby but hey, they know where they are. It's a lot more affordable than the new Pacific City that recently opened 2 mins away.

We ate at Sandys then did some shopping. Great surf and souvenir shops. The US Open for surfing was being set up while we were there which was neat to see.

A beautiful place to visit. Restaurants, shopping and sight seeing. Walk to the pier in the evening and watch the sunset.

nice beach town with lots of surf shops, places to eat and tourist shops to get souviners. Parking kinda sucks so just do a meter parking a couple of blocks away and walk.

So many shops and restaurants. Parking on street is very tricky and they do have parking structures. Pretty packed with people. Some restaurants have ocean view. The parade in July goes thru here.

What used to be a quiet and unpretentious place to hang out and enjoy the sun is now a tourist hot spot. Gone is the quaint Main Street with its unique shops and restaurants. It now feels like a busy tourist destination. Very sad indeed.

It's a bit expensive but not too bad with lots of shopping and many different food and bar options.
It's a great spot to sit and grab a beer and watch the world go by, especially on a Tuesday night when the street is closed for the market.

Downtown was awesome. The dining on Main Street is so cool. Loved browsing through the stores. Walks along the boardwalk was nice in the late afternoon

Great family spot to visit. If you go on a Tuesday evening the streets are closed and people can walk and see street vendors. Highly recommended.

Downtown Huntington Beach has a variety of great stores and restaurants for all tastes. If you are a surfer, there are surf shops. If you want a place to eat, there is Chinese, Mexican , American, Japanese, etc.
Don't forget to pick up a Huntington Beach t-shirt, and walk the pier.

Was here for the weekend for a marathon race. Beaches are clean and patrolled. Bathrooms, plenty of beach to play on, volley ball courts, and fire pits. Bike path runs a long the beach. There are several parking lots(fees). Stores are clean, tons of restaurants to choose from. Several places to rent bikes, surf stuff, etc.

We visited Huntington Beach during a beaches tour with Anaheim Tour Company.
This beach is a good surf beach and has a very long pier.
The beach is lovely and wide with the area quite vibrant with many bars restaurants and retail shops.
Plenty to do and a recommended beach to visit.

Every Tuesday night, all year and long, Main Street is the place to be. The street is barricaded from traffic to allow pedestrians to safely access the wide variety of vendors selling their unique goods, services, and delectable treats. I love it when the Irish bar sells street tacos. They are amazing and cheap. Go figure!

We hit Downtown HB quite often when visiting family. Lots of shops, from the usual touristy kind to the nice clothing shops, coffee shops, and a really great chocolate shop.

Lots of surf type shops, gift shops, sidewalk cafes, people watching and pricey shopping opportunities. A must go to when in the area. Beautiful beach with lots of people. Great for watching the classic cars that cruise up and down the Avenue.

I love the downtown. So much to do, see and places to eat. You can walk on the pier, the sand or down Main St. so many great places to have a drink and great places to drink. On certain days you can go to a street fair or open market. You can have a malt and watch the surfing.

I really like what the did with the downtown
Huntington Beach,so much life in a small area. I lived in Huntington Beach several years ago, and I was amazed by the changes. Lots restaurants, shops, pubs.
Hotels, condos and the beach very appealing.

Busy street fair atmosphere... nothing high end, but fun people watching! Try the bar at the STRAND HOTEL, amazing one of a kind cocktails!!

Went with two couples for a casual dinner. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Different entertainment during the street fair and plenty of stands setup along the street selling everything from fruits, nuts, salsa, tamales, paintings, woodwork, etc.

I have lived in Huntington Beach all my life. We went downtown and Main St. was filthy. The homeless were sleeping on the planters and sidewalk. Trash cans were overflowing. HB CC wake up and do something before it's too late. All those highend hotels? People are not going to pay $500 a night to look at the mess you ahve allowed to happen downtown.

Tourist all the way. It reminds me of disneyland with all the restaurants at Pacific City. So crowed but the vibe is great! All ages welcomed! The food court is not quite Anaheim packing house. Obviously the cost of restaurant food is high at restaurants with a view but not sure it's worth it. It's worth one visit though. Will visit again in off season.

Tuesday night street fair is always fun great to check out all the happy hour specials. Lots of restaurants/bars competing for business take a stroll and see what you like! Kind of like shopping for the best deal or that and your preference of food

Lovely town for dining, drinking, shopping or to just chill with the locals. I love the surf shops here as well as the quaint little pubs and restaurants. There is also a Rubys Diner at the end of the pier.

Loved everything about this place, so clean and such a great community feel. Everything is convenient

Great place to check out the people and watch the amazing rides go by. My wife loves to shop and this downtown offers eclectic shopping

Downtown HB Surf City USA there is a kind of umbeance here that is so full energy. The atmosphere and the vibration in the air is electrifying, you suddenly feel charged. Everyone is so full of life, your naturally drawn to it. There is a kind of electricity in the air, like a vibration of energy and youth. There is so much going on here. Tuedays Night when they close down Main Street and all the local artist and vendors come out. Fun for all ages, Free Live Music, Live Entertainment and even small rides for kids, every kind of food and lots to see. Then there is the Main Street Surfing Walk of Fame, it's really cool (it's like the one in Hollywood). The restraunts have tables and seating out on the boardwalk and some of them even allow your dogs. You can ride your bike from Angel Stadium to the Beach that pours you right on to the sand at the River Jetties. This place has so much going on, there is always something to do here. HB is home to one of the larges world wide Surfing Competitions, attacking all the big names. They have every kind of food you could ever want to eat downtown and lots of cool shops. Every surfing brand in the world is here. There is at least 20 different night clubs open till 2am on the weekends. And after that you can go get breakfast right there at International House of Pancakes. The Women clothing shops, they have some of the cuties clothes I've ever seen. There is so much going on that it's hard to imagine living anywhere else. I love it here...

What a terrific selection the many shops on Main Street have for suits and coverups. I LOVE the variety of athletic worthy styles for
double digit sizes! Poke around on Tuesdays for great values on high end gear.

Downtown is great every day - lots of restaurants, unique shops, lots of surfing and swimming stores - but summer Tuesdays are best. That's when Main Street is closed for several blocks and vendors and entertainers come from all around to make it a huge street party. Good food, happy people and kids, great music make for a memorable evening.

Huntington Beach is a nice, walkable downtown area with tons of restaurants and shops.
Make sure you keep the parking meter paid!

Had many many shops to choose from. Many souvenirs to buy. Close to walk to pier. Had many restaurants to choose
from. Many friendly people. Would go again.

Downtown HB is a mix of experiences depending on where you are. Main St. has a variety of local bars and restaurants, the Strand (6th St.) Is more unique chain restaurants. Pacific City is upscale tourist orientated. Take your pick based on your personality. HB is a drinking town, so be prepared for loud neighbor's.

The whole reason for my trip to Huntington Beach was to visit Perqs Nite Club and Bar Spiritual home of Blues giant Walter Trout of whom i'm a big fan. The bar is situated right on Main in the heart of downtown in the second oldest property in Huntington It is a typical bar. Great beer. Great atmosphere and when i said i was from Scotland searching for the home of Walter Trout,i received a welcome i will never forget. Matt, the very friendly barman giving me a souvenir T Shirt for free, something that would rarely happen in Scotland. Trip advisor didn't recognise this place in its own right so i'm using downtown Huntington to achieve this. As a frequent reviewer i am getting very tired of trying to review places not recognised. The "Are we missing a place" function just does not serm to operate at all. I've already lost several reviews because of this which negates the whole purpose of trying to pass on info to fellow travellers.????

During the summer months the downtown area can be fun but difficult at times. Parking is a major problem and the HBPD do a good job of giving out parking tickets so beware.
There are plenty of restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner. All casual, all relatively inexpensive and all very busy.
For live music and dancing Hurricanes is a fun place for a younger group. Perq's has live music as well and more designed for an older client base. During the more quiet times in the fall and winter us locals enjoy downtown much more...we kind of hide out on the sand in the summer.

As you stroll around you get the feel of one that a small town has with little shops and restaurants. Definitely something for everyone. Just enjoy the weather and the people with a laid back vibe.

Stopped for a little beach clothing shopping. Lots of nice stores and cool clothing. I like the area, its many shops, and restaurants. One of my favourite areas of the USA. I’ve been coming here for over 25 years.

We recently took a trip to the Los Angeles area and made our one Saturday day stop at Huntington beach. We were fortunate to be able to take in the Vans cup surfing the day we were there and it was amazing. The pier is so beautiful with it's views of the ocean and couple of cute little shops for picking up souvenirs. We also got to make a stop at the Surfing Museum,.. a must if you are a fan of surfing at all. We can't wait to go back again and make this our destination point and stay to immerse ourselves in the whole experience.

Downtown HB feels like an on going frat party!
If that's your thing...this is the place for you! Be advised the cops are everywhere!!! Policing it can't be easy and it is made more difficult by this frat party mentality by people that never grow up at any age. Most cops still act like jerks to all (that's a well known fact for decades.)
Downtown HB has tried (and succeeded) to improve itself with newer housing and buildings and overall the look is clean and fresh. There is a vibe, however, that is very strong here and it's not pleasant. The locals reek of stuck up behavior and seem to detest anyone who isn't "HB".
Rarely do we visit this area but when we have to (business) it's the same. The only difference now is more traffic. Parking is the worst!
Not a fan.
I prefer Seal Beach or Long Beach!!!

A beach town out of central casting. Fun, lively and lots to see and eat. The beach is beautiful and everything looks wonderful.

Winter months have always been my favorite time of year here. Less tourists, less wait times in restaurants, easier parking. The weather is perfect and you get a real local feel.

Lots of shops Great prices. Lots of restaurants quick and sit down to chose from. Area is very clean. Had a great time and everyone was friendly

The Tuesday farmers market was outstanding all venders were good food and products. We tried several of the restaurants and the food was well cooked and prepared to our liking. This is a must see location while you're there.

So much to do while visiting the downtown area of Huntington Beach! Duke's Barefoot Bar, on the beach at Main Street and Pier Plaza, has AMAZING hamburgers!!! Take a walk on the pier and enjoy the sunset with a nice warm coffee, cocoa or hot tea on a chilly winter evening, or enjoy a delicious gelato on a warm summer evening. Festivals, air shows, Tuesday night market on Main Street are all great things to do. Halloween night is a great time for safe family fun on Main Street!

Other than the nearby mall, which has a nice variety of stores, the actual downtown is mainly surf shops and restaurants. If you are looking for tshirts this is the place. We had hoped for a bit more variety and uniqueness. When we didn’t find that, we went to the mall which was good.

Lots of choices for restaurants and bars, and lots of stores for shopping. Clothes, active lifestyle, surfing, bikes, the pier, and anything you would want to do.

Downtown HB is thee best place for a day visit. Lots of things to do even in the winter. There is lots of shops, places to eat, and some nightlife. You can rent a bike for the day and go around the beach or just walk around and shop a little. There is something for everyone. I suggest sugar shack if you are there early enough for their breakfast. Its always busy so be flexible to wait or sit outside. There are some cool vintage shops located on the next street over. Make sure you respect the locals who live there and don't be one of those people. Clean up after yourself!

Okay but filled primarily with chain stores like Billabong and Hurley. I'd recommend Seal Beach for cute, local shops over Huntington. Nice beach, though - fun place to watch the surfers!

A typical beach town. With souvenir stores, surf shops, coffee shops and restaurants. Small area to walk and window shop

Tuesday nights are Surf City Nights, they close Main Street for entertainment, shopping and food vendors. Fridays are Farmer's Market. Classic cars pop up frequently in the summer on Main Street, and so much more, you really never know what else is in store.

Good options for a nice evening hangout.
Stopped by at a couple pins and a sushi bar... altogether pretty good package

Really try to avoid this area like the plague. There are tons of other places along PCH to go, like the new mall they just put up like 2 lights down from this place. Fred's is MEH. BJs there has crap service. All the bars there are filled with lame bros most of the time and its a pain to get a drink.

Need a wind breaker , sunglasses or lotion ? Walking along the streets across from Huntington Beach Pier you will find many surf commodities. Pricey but so is the real estate.

The pier has amazing shops and restaurants. If you are there on Tuesdays, there is a street fair / farmers market right down Main Street. Lots of various vendors with jewelry, candles, ocean themed pictures, etc. great variety of fruits, veggies, nuts, cakes, cookies, cheesecake in a cup, a killer tamale booth, and clothes. There are a few restaurants that do taco Tuesday too. Right now the pier is lit up for Christmas, you'll have a great time with nice photo ops!

Restaurants in open air parking on street just enough shops to keep it interesting good for people watching.

Brings back great memories coming back to Main street. Great atmoshpere. Plenty of places to dine, drink and people watch. Definitely a must when you're in HB

Haven’t been here in years and boy has it upgraded!! Lots of very nice shops with plenty of restaurants and bars to hang at. Nice for a stroll after beach time!!

We stayed down the street at The Hilton so downtown HB was within walking distance. Great little downtown with a lot of shops and eateries! I was surprised that many of the stores were open before 9:00 am Monday, although many of them catered to the surfing crowd. With the Pier just across the street there are many things to do that would appeal to all age groups!

I love Downtown Huntington Beach, even in a pandemic. It is actually nice to have it not so busy and crowded ... although some dining establishments were blatantly ignoring safe Covid-19 precautions. We just avoided those. Stayed outdoors, wore masks and felt safe. Very nice police presence. One of my favorite places in the USA.

There is anything you need from surf wear to beer. Shopping for tourist cloths to restaurants .HB has all things you could wish for

Surfing is deep in the culture of Huntington Beach. There is a a bit of a walk of fame for surfers. It doesn't mean much to me, but if you have interest in the surfing culture, you´ll appreciate how this main street is maintained. The shops around lean abit on the tourist side, with some rather serious surf shops amid them.

Geez depends on the time of year and holiday. It is a bit crazy on holidays. I love the winter. Restaurant are mostly blah blah...frozen crap. This place is mostly for tourist and local diners. I would recommend pacific city for better food. There are some okay restaurants on Main Street but fewer. Tuesday is fair /farmers market. This is kinda cool. Love the music and energy. Food vendors have been blah blah too.
Btw there is a old library up the street, lake park up the street, art center up the street. Good Thai, veggie, and Italian across/adjacent from library.
Still love the walking downtown and city lights all year long

Easy walking area. Can drop into any number of great restaurants or watering holes. So-so shopping but still fun/ This is not a high end place, but walk a few blocks south and you will enter an area with very high end dining and shopping - right on Pacific Coast Highway. Forget the name. But Lovely!

Downtown Huntington Beach is a great place to visit. Safe, clean, and exciting. So much to see and do... shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, spas, hotels, and candy shops.. you name it and downtown Huntington Beach has it... you will love the vibe... dress up... dress comfortable, or even wear a bathing suit... it doesn't matter... you will see it all downtown... much more mellow and family like than Venice beach. At night it is a bit more for adults and on weekends the bar scene can get crazy... Tuesdays are family night and more farmers market like. Must see place.

I love Huntington Beach, so chilled, so much to do. Love the atmosphere of the place. Great bars, food, Beach and the pier is so good for watching the surf.
Can't wait to go back

I have found some of best flip flops and cover ups for the best price downtown Huntington Beach. Also, the food is fantastic.
Everyone always ask "where did you get that cover up?". It doesn't matter if I am in Aruba, Canada or Florida. I always say Huntington Beach, Cali.

Such a great area. Shops, restaurants, very near the beach.
Not super upscale, but that is OKAY!
Loved the surf shops and there is a great coffee place near the Equinox.

Friendly merchants with a feeling of a small town. Nice place to stroll up and down the street with your dog.

We enjoyed walking round this area both during the day and during the night! Lively safe atmosphere were locals and holiday makers mix well.

Lemonade in Pacific City is a fun place to meet for lunch. You can even sample salads before you actually purchase one...or more.

Great place to just walk around and mingle. Beach ind pier are right there lots to eat and drink. Nice shops everywhere

Typical tourist scene...restaurants, bars, shops and 7 day a week limited metered street parking. Definitely a young persons destination.

We spend a lot of time walking around HB and there are shops all along the way and the HB Pier is right there
to talk a long walk and see the sights. There are many food places along Main street and they have built more shops very close.

Every Tuesday night they close down a few blocks of Main St. from PCHwy to Orange Ave. and open it to vendors, very nice place to take family, date, friends or just stroll it on a occasion, like i do!

There is a lot of activity along Main St both day and night. Be careful crossing the street as not all cars and pedestrians understand who has the right of way and when. There are many different restaurants, bars, pubs, shops and stores along the beach and stretching for blocks inland.

Huntington Beach was a nice beach town. Nothing special though and seemed very dirty. The night scene seemed very sketchy

This area has many quaint shops and restaurants. It's very clean and safe. The people are friendly and active. The weather and views are magnificent.

We were in downtown HB on a Tuesday night when they have their street fair from 5-9. It is a great venue for people watching and there are a few interesting crafts on order. Also, a Happy Hour beer at the Huntington Beach Beer Company is never a bad choice!

I walked quite a few blocks of the Downtown area on a perfect day & found it clean & lively. Browsed the upscale shops where the Locals are friendly.
Booths were being set up for Tuesday Surf City Nights & the Farmers Market. Wish I could have stayed for a few more hours.
Adjacent to the awesome Huntington Beach, just days away from the Open, I loved the cool vibe.

Orange County is peppered with dozens of beach cities. I have always been partial to Huntington Beach due to the Main Street atmosphere. Roughly 3 blocks of restaurants, bars, and shopping with a good mix of locals and tourists. Prices are reasonable enough to not chase away the locals. There is plenty of parking, including a garage that accepts validations off Olive St in the heart of downtown. Go for the bar hopping, stay for a magnificent sunset over the pier. Tuesday evenings they shut down Main St to vehicle traffic and have a street fair/farmer's market that is a blast. Great mix of local retailers, food vendors, and locally grown produce. I highly recommend checking it out.

Downtown Huntington Beach has a variety of shops and restaurants to choose from. The only con I have is that you have to pay for parking.

It was great just to walk from the Hotel to Main Street. Their is plenty of restaurants, shops and a Starbucks. The beach is right across the street. Just sitting on the beach was awesome. Beautiful even if it's only a day trip. Well worth it.

Lots going on, tons of shops and restaurants. Always crowded and loud with lots of motorcycles revving their engines down Main St. Young crowd with lots of kids hanging out. Parking is difficult, especially nights & weekends.

Lots of shops; clean atmosphere. We went on Tuesday evening and there was a nice farmers market going on. We enjoyed looking into several of the surf shops and the fruit in the market was amazing.

This area used to be nice, quaint and comfortable. Now it is just one big tourist trap and hangout for little rich kids.

One of my very favorite places. Take an easy stroll down Main St and check out all the cool little shops or sit outside and grab a bite at one of the restaurants and people watch. Be sure to catch Tuesday night farmers market. Dog friendly town so bring your furry family members for a stroll. Then cross over PCH and head to the famous HB pier and watch the surfers catch some waves.

This place is never boring. There are so many restaurants to choose from, many of which have lunch specials. It's interesting watching people from all different cities or countries enjoying the sites & eateries.

Friendly atmosphere for couples and families. Easy to walk around to loads of shops and eateries. Different eateries available that appeal to a variety of budgets. Good shopping including Seafolly swimwear. Directly across from the beach. Tons of outdoor seating available for everyone to enjoy the ocean view without having to make a purchase at a restaurant. Plus there is a Philz coffee.

This the busiest part of the beach and offers a lot of activity. It is like a meeting point and a junction of beach versus the downtown city life...surfing cool. A tourist place with gifts and goodies...of course PRC..made🤣

A great downtown beach venue that directly fronts the Huntington Beach Pier, California Dreaming right here. Crowded during summer and surf events.

I think downtown is one of the nicer beach towns. It feels more "beachy" than Santa Monica, although it is touristy, especially at certain times of the year (mainly spring break and summertime).

Nice place to spend an afternoon. Outdoor dining and some allow dogs, which is nice. In December, Santa sits out on one sidewalk and poses for pictures. Lots of bars, usually busy when the weather is nice.

We walked around the downtown area, watching people and checking out the shopping. Nice downtown and great for watching people.

CCSA amateur surfing contest was a blast! Well done! Spent the rest of the day downtown enjoying food, people and fellowship!

Downtown Huntington Beach still has the small town memories. Though it is growing, some of past remains. It is fun to stroll the streets, window shop, eat in one of the great restaurants, stop for coffee or ice cream or just people watch. I am from out of state but have lived in Huntington Beach for decades. I so enjoy the downtown and events that go on all year.

This downtown has more entertainment venues unlike other beach areas.
More bars and restaurants here than shops.
The shops here are mostly geared towards surfing wear and gear.

Really cool area with lots of shopping (mostly surf shops) and restaurants. Absolutely awesome people watching and some great spots to grab dessert or ice cream after a warm day on the beach. Such a relaxed and friendly area, not overbuilt or overcrowded. Highly recommended!

Downtown is a nice place for breakfast lunch or dinner restaurants. Surf clothing shops are plenti and cute little boutiques up and down the street. Tuesday evenings is Farmers Market with a lot of home grown selections.

If anyone went to Huntington beach as kid and went now you would be so disappointed. Reasons:
1. Restaurants and stores have zero concept of hygiene, have no idea how they are still open.
2. Famous musicians used to want to open restaurants here because they crowd was diverse and from all over the world.. now only certain types of people come here, and they love having oil wells near their houses let’s just say… they don’t make eye contact or smile at people… so interesting restaurants don’t come here and bring interesting food because no one wants to be around a bunch of grumpy grandpas having breakfast at the same place for 30 years, with their hateful ideologies and diversity hating tendencies. Why else is the most interesting place to get ice cream a baskin robins? Can you imagine a beach town with only one or two ice cream spots? One a chain?! Welcome to Huntington.
3. They let hateful protestors yell at people on the street, “you need Jesus to save you or you’re dammed” kind of thing… give it a rest Huntington, how do you regulate companies from having patio seating but can’t stop people from being heckled at? The police roam around constantly but can’t stop my kids from being told they’re going to hell by a random guy on the street? Thanks a lot, I see where your priorities are.
4. It full of sports bars and muscle cars, if you’re looking to drown yourself in toxic masculinity and not get any sleep because of roaring engines the literally block the sound of the beach this is your stop.
Everyone from out of town looking for a beach vacation please go to laguna beach and have a good time. I’m never going to Huntington ever ever again! Their weird politics have literally killed it’s economy but I’m sure they’re happy with themselves even if no one else is. I’m sure even Duke Kahanamoku cries in his grave seeing it now.

Great town to be in when it’s hot .
The cool ocean breezes are a great part of this town.
Awesome place to people watch.
Tons of shopping .
Too many restaurants to name .
A new mall.
Parking could be difficult at times.
Great place to walk out on the pier.
Enjoy your day at the beach .....

Having travelled at least ten times to Huntington Beach CA , I never cease to totally enjoy my time spent in downtown Huntington Beach! The beach-themed stores , great restaurants, and views of the Pacific are always welcoming. Last year, I actually experienced the solar eclipse on the pier with a group of strangers who suddenly became friends. Highly recommended!

It is what it is. Good walking area. Main Street is where most of the shops and restaurants are. Lots of shops for surf stuff, as you'd expect. Lots of pedestrians walking around but not overly crowded. Only saw one sketchy character.
Main Street ends on the Pacific Coast Highway right across from the Pier. I'd skip the Pier but recommend Duke's at the start of the Pier.

Main street. they close the streets on Tuesday. Please visit it. Is totally fun, family, dogs, children. Alive music, organic fruit, vegetables., fruit. fresh food. do you want more?... the beach is there. enjoy it.

There were crafter huts, rentals (bike, surf boards) places to get a snack. On the day we were there they had a beach volleyball tournament and a band shell with live music.

On our ninth wedding anniversary, we went to Huntington Beach for a nice romantic weekend. It is a fun bar and restaurant scene in a quaint downtown area. Right on the ocean which is a bonus

This area of town is horrible and dangerous. Avoid going here. Especially Sock Harbor and American Vintage Clothing who maintain a staff that is both intimidating and mean. I did not feel safe at all while downtown.

We happened to be visiting during a farmers market day. It was Sooo fun!! Live music, lots of vendors, yummy foods and lots of samples! Great ambiance, fresh air, sunny and lots of people. Kids Loved it!

great weather all year long.. shopping restaurants hotels, great surfing across the street from north or south side. Disney and Knots berry farm about 20 minutes away

Strolling through the streets of downtown Huntington beach is fun that costs nothing. There's lots of shops, boutiques and cafes to view.

The atmosphere on main street is the most exciting and positive. Lots of shops to choose from and tons of restaurants to eat at! Definitely recommend.

Such a clean place— beautiful shops with things to buy for all the family. The quaint shops and good customer service- friendly and helpful.

Downtown HB has an awesome variety of surfshops, souvenir shops and restaurants. Every imaginable ethnicity is seen here. There are a number of bars and grills as well. Sunday is perfect for brunchs here at downtown HB. A new facility (Pacific City) has been put up and has many restaurants and shops The offseason brings a more relaxing atmosphere to the downtown area with more locals than tourists. This happens from around Labor day to Memorial day. Summers are much more hectic.

Walking distance to the beach and our hotel. Very clean and trendy area with specialty shops, surf shops, flip flop shops, and plenty of places to have a drink or a bite

Came here to look for dining options and was not disappointed. There are also shops that sells tourist stuff and beach wear etc which I gave it a pass but I am sure they are popular with most visitors.

Great place to walk and catch a cocktail or snack while the Mrs. shops. Remember to look up there are some great places on the second story.

Went there for a surf trip with some friends.
Crap surfing conditions for the whole week bar one day, freezing water temps even though it was the middle of summer.
Local surfers were friendly and cool however there seem to be a lot of wanna bes floating around main street. Not the Cali i was looking for!
Think ill keep to aussie beaches where surf tends to be better conditions and people keep it real.

I live in Hintington Beach and love coming to the downtown area and strolling through it. Many different restaurants to go to, places to shop at and a wonderful pier to walk on. If you enjoy a stroll at the beach, or people watching, or good food, this is definitely a place you dont want to miss. Always something new here.

We always spend a day here when we are visiting LA. Lots to see and do, great beach and shopping. Plenty of parking too.

It’s not a very long street but it’s pack with shops and restaurants. The HB pier is just across the street. If you go there HB. This is a must see.

Fun grunge surf town atmosphere....some great spots and great Tuesda street fair in the evening. I personally like pacific cit better for nights.

The 3-4 blocks of the Main Street of Huntington Beach is comfortable and inviting. Grab a drink or a meal or some new shades. Regardless, enjoy Downtown!!

Definitely don't miss a walk through "surf city" if you have a spare couple of hours. From the many varieties of stores, restaurants & bars located in Main St too going for a stroll along the magnificent HB Pier. There is plenty of people watching going on at the beach so make sure you bring your sunglasses 😎.

Go to the Irish pub killarney's...Order a large beer....OMG so big....great time there...Lots of good places to eat,and so close to a beautiful beach...Enjoyed a great few days there...will be back

After a day of surfing and beach, hanging out downtown is probably the best thing to do. And Huntington has some of the best beach food and surf shops around.

We were so happy to discover a Baskin Robbins, Irish sports bar and cute shops that line Main Street. Sessions, on PCH, is not to be missed. Great sandwiches, coffee, chips and beer. : )

I’ve been back several times now—with my wife, with my kids and with friends, and this place always accommodates! There’s so much to do and see—from the pier and beach to the shops and restaurants. Come early and stay late!

Endless restaurants and bars, craft beers, gifts, chocolate, nightlife. OMG we went here everyday! So much ti see and do!

Went to Breakfast at IHOP and the service was great.
The environment was relaxed and the facility was clean.

Downtown Huntington Beach is a great place to shop and offers many places to eat. Still down main Street solo or as a family and enjoy the variety of things. Oh and if u keep walking to the end of main Street you will be in front of the Huntington Beach Pier! Make a day of it! Enjoy! I did. Aloha.

Clean as can be, beautiful street with public restrooms. There is plenty of shopping and great bargins

Plenty of cool shops, bars and restaurants. Awesome people watching from locals to tourists. Just a couple of blocks from awesome beach.

The Main St. area has a lot going on. Lots of variety for dining. Rocky Mountain candy, Starbucks, 31 Flavors, plenty of places from dives to full restuarants. You can meander over to the block west and find a few things to see.

Took a short walk along the main strip. The shops were typical touristy places. Good to pick up some souvenirs, but that's about it. We were there on St. Patrick's day, so lots of festivities going on at the pubs.

surfer beach, several great restaurants with great views, surf attire stores and others, very walkable, laidback, charming atmosphere

Main Street, Huntington Beach, is an interesting brief walk of several blocks. The beach culture is on display. Several blocks off the beach is a Starbucks, which offeres a good stopping point for those who enjoy moseying along the way.

It is the Main Street of the premier beach destination.Huntington city is nicknamed as ‘surf city’ as the ocean is suitable for surfing year-round.The nine and half mile stretch of sandy beach is favourite spot for family outings.Wander through the street lined with shops, eateries, gift shops.Take a long walk on the beach or sit down and enjoy the ocean. It is told that there will be farmers market on Tuesday after 5pm.Go for a walk on the pier till the end to have beautiful views of coastline and surfers.Neatness needs to be improved in the beach.

I have stayed several placed in the area, but this was the first chance I had to stay in Huntington Beach. I found a wonderful hotel that was close to this downtown area. It was a nice walk and I enjoyed shopping in the area and just enjoying the weather. A clean safe area.

Typical high-end beach town with shops and restaurants. Parking is available and payable with credit card - bit pricy, but normal for this area. Good place to hang out after time on the beach.

Take time out to wander on the Golden sand, watch beach volleyball or people taking the surf. This is a people place with the locals. The Pacific Ocean can be cold so that's why everyone is in a wet suit.

This IS Southern California! Plenty of shops, abundant places to eat with great variety, so many people to watch, and adequate parking available.

A very special sunny day walking in the Main St. So much people at restaurants and spending time on the street.

We walked around this area after visiting the beach. The parking was convenient and plentiful. There is a nice variety of stores and restaurants to choose from.

A busy beach scene. The pier is really nice. This can be a very busy place, so prepare for Activity. Parking not the best. The beach is very beautuful and expansive

Got it all and near the surf. Beer, fries, and burgers. The three food groups are available in downtown Huntington Beach. Great place to hang.
.

I am not sure what is up with Huntington but we were treated badly no matter where we went. From a police officer who yelled at us when we asked directions to rude servers and hotel staff! Go down the road to Newport where people are truly welcoming!

A diverse set of establishments.
Tons of gift shops, eateries and some sweets shops.
Great place to people watch and bring people from out of town.

I think you will be hard pressed another in CA to match it for beauty, laid back atmosphere and affordability. Additionally, they always seem to have something going on. I would suggest parking a vouple of blocks away as it tends to be overrun by people traffic.

Downtown HB is filled with some shops, restaurants, and bars. Pretty nice spot after spending a day at the beach. The town has gotten pretty touristy and is using its pristine beach for tourism which is totally fine. Would really like to see some more restaurants and clothing shops come down here. Definitely a nice visit and a spot to return to.

We visited on a Tuesday and were lucky enough to be there for Surf City Nights Farmer's Market. The whole street was full of vendors, and there was live music. Lots of shops and restaurants along the way to check out. Great people watching. Coming from the East Coast, this is so different than home. We definitely got the West Coast surf vibe here. Fun place to visit!!

When in Orange County, downtown HB is a must stop to bask in the sun, experience the hustle and bustle, and the laissez faire mentality. As you walk on Main Street, you’ll be struck with tourists from distant places, all in search of what Surf City can offer. The pier is a short walk, the golden beach is littered with volleyball players practicing or just having fun, not to mention the surfers. Every Tuesday after 5:00 pm, downtown is a host of the farmers market and arts & crafts vendors. It is a truly nice place to hang out.

I live in HB and have since the 90's. Anyone who visited HB back then can tell you it was a wonderful city. Today, the homelessness and drug use on the streets has taken over. The beaches are covered with transients and some are mean and approach you while walking down the board walk. The city's answer is to just move them from street to street but not remove them from the city. The answer would be to build institutions on inexpensive property inland to place these individuals in these facilities permanently and assist them in either drug rehab, mental illness issues or a facility that offers training in a trade and place these folks in jobs. The city should provide the elderly transients with a permanent nursing home. Most of the street people want to do drugs and panhandle and live on the streets. I only see this city going down hill further and further.

Tuesday night the Main street is closed just for pedestrians, on both sides are stalls with gifts and produce and music .Also shops and restaurants . No dogs allowed

Many places to eat, and alot cheaper than Pacific City. I love hawaiian place for breakfast. Plenty of happy hour places. If want upscale, go to Pacific City, otherwise alot of eateries and bars on main street

It is so nice to walk around Downtown Huntington Beach during summer time. There are a lot of restaurants, shops, Cafe even an antique shop

Full on in the evenings, with loads of surf and beach wear shops, and plenty of places to eat. Tuesday evenings become a market place selling everything from hand made soap to specialist dog products. We were here for 7 nights but after the fourth visit to downtown we were looking for something else to do, if your under 30 it’s the perfect place to be.

I have lived in HB since 1990 when I opened the beautiful Waterfront Hilton Beach Resort! I run my friend's bar ALOHA GRILL on Main St. that features the World Famous RAINBOW DRINK! Downtown is a a unique experience with the old Surf City feel compared to the touristy Pacific City that is over priced and the restaurants don't have the same feel of our city. Leave it for the tourists!
We have the International Surf Museum and the Surf Walk of Fame that has all the surfing legends that have been surfing HB Surf City for generations many who live here and still frequent the bars today!
Come on down the water is fine.....one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere!

I'm walking on main and the pier/boardwalk most every morning and night. Lots of good food, sports bars, and entertainment. A bit noisy on Fri/Sat (or when the US Open is in town). But a great place to live and play.

This used to be a sleepy locals town years ago. It's gown up and offers many different things for visitors now. There are many restaurant and shopping options as well as a local surfing museum. One street over from Main street you can rent bikes too.

After visiting the pier and beach, you can walk down Main Street to this little town. There are a great number of shops here, such as surf shops, restaurants, and t-shirt shops. You have more choices here to find a place to eat after playing on the beach. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed. People seem this way when eating on the benches or walking their dogs. After a long walk, you can also have some ice cream here or go to Starbucks.

If you stay near the beach your kids would love this place. But the moment you go near the restaurants anytime after lunch and dinner you will find your self surrounded by young people having a great time while drinking alcohol and behaving like drunk behave when having too much fun.

Was in town for 3 days and walked through downtown multiple times. Definitely a cross between the locals and out of towners. I visit several times per year and visit downtown while staying at sunset vista campground. Lots of fun places to eat, fun shops like Jacks and fun to sit and watch the crowds. Could be a little cleaner and you do run into the homeless, yet it’s Beach and touristy and you just breath in the salty air and take it as an adventure.

The Huntington Beach downtown area has several blocks of small shops and restaurants. It's great for people watching or grabbing something to eat. The Pacific Coast Highway runs along the waterfront end of downtown, but the main street runs perpendicular and has much less traffic.

Although there are many places to eat in HB, the quality of many places looked questionable? If you are into surf shops- then you have to go here!! Otherwise, there aren't any particular "go to" shops...it's a nice place to stroll if the weather's nice and definitely go across the street to the Pier!

Main Street can get real busy in nice weather. Street parking will be hard to come by. Some restaurants and shops will validate garage parking. But this is where the action is when it's not surfing time.

This is close to the water with live bands quite often. Many events take place such as beach volleyball, surfing events and group gatherings. There are multi restaurants and beach shops. It is a multi age place.

A stroll along Maon Street in Huntington Beach has something for everyone to enjoy. Adjacent to Main, just a block away, expands your dining and shopping options, even offering a Forever 21. There are several skate/surf shops with the latest in clothing, skate boards, surfboards and shoes. The dining options are unlimited in every price range. If you are lucky enough to visit on Tuesday evenings, there is a street fair where you can enjoy pedestrian friendly environment while you stroll through the varied vendors offerings. There are orchids, produce, clothing, jewelry, specialty food items and more.
There are hair and nail salons, bike shops, a library where you can learn about the history of Huntington Beach, as well as a post office and a surf and art museum. Pacific City is a short walk away with more boutiques and ding and Main Street is within walking distance of many excellent Hotels including a Hyatt, Hilton, Pasea and the Shorebreak.

Great place to shop and great restaurants along the strip; very peaceful and laid back atmosphere; great family atmosphere and a lot of different activities to do while visiting downtown Huntington Beach.

Downtown or Main st is a whole lot of fun! There are lots of shops featuring surf and skate lifestyle, and so many restaurants you will have a hard time deciding where to eat. The street is usually open to cars and you will see some variety from classics to exotics and lots of Motorcycles. Fun vibe with a little surf punk edge. Great place to walk and enjoy the crowd.

Love downtown Huntington Beach. Caters for families and surfers.
Great place to visit.
Anytime of the day or night.

We thought it was beautiful and elegant. It was fun but it used to be the quintessential beach town and that vibe is gone. No more margarita fish taco stands. Ice cream on the beach down Main Street. It’s fancy now.

Not a place really for the over 50s but still a nice place to stroll through during the day. Partyville at night! Good selection of different shops & dining options. Nice place.

I’ve lived in Huntington Beach since the late ‘60s. Yes, today there are some cool shops and restaurants, and I still like the surf shops. Yes, the buzz of energy can be invigorating. But I much preferred the older Huntington Beach downtown area. It was funkier, less pricey, less obviously commercial, and far less crowded, with less traffic and easy parking. I used to go there every day, when it was more laid back, less go-go-go. I liked it when we could just drive up, park wherever we wanted (for free), and grab a bite or go body-surfing without fighting huge crowds. Now it seems as though every day is the way July 4th used to be. So I tend to stay away nearly every day, just as I used to do only on holidays. For a different vibe, try a stroll down Main Street in Seal Beach or even Second Street in Belmont Shore.

It was our first time visiting and is in off season so not much going on . But the shops are great and lots of options and lots of dining options so we still had a fun day ! Would love to return in the summer .

Perfect place to walk. Pier, restaurants, coffee and Drinks. Many choices and places to stop. Fall is perfect time.

Lots of shopping & went to a Baskin Robbins.
Ate dinner also. There were booths of things, expensive stores, reasonable stores, as well as souvenir shops.

Great tone to be in huntington is during surf competitions. Great to watch from the pier and great restaurants at the pier. Parking gets rough though as it is a popular spot. Take light jackets as it gets pretty cool at night. Great shopping all over the area.

Musicians, food, a great atmosphere! Always one of the things we love to do while in Huntington to visit family! Check it out. Tuesday nights!

Lots of food and music.... active fun vibe even in colder weather! Beach is long and beautiful... shopping great!

I see this part of So Cal maybe every 3-4 years. Nice night life, good stores, and very good restaurants. You won't be disappointed.

There is so much to do and see. Shops, restaurants and the beach. We felt safe walking around. The beach is super clean but the restrooms at the beach could use a lot of attention.

A very walkable venue with nearby parking. Lots of places to eat and drink. Many surf shops and fun stores. Coffee shops and bars are plentiful.

We stayed in town and were able to walk everywhere. No matter what you want, ice cream, breakfast, shopping or dinner, you will find it on Main Street and beyond

Shops, restaurants, convenience and the beach, what more could you ask for? It was wonderful and FUN!

Lots of shops and restaurants to choose from and a hop, skip and jump from the beach. I developed a surf shop addiction in California and the area had plenty to visit.

Spent 4 days in Huntington.... what a chilled place!
It oozes charm and coolness... people of all ages on bikes and skateboards and a Main Street full of surf shops!
Not the cheapest place to visit or stay, but it is something rather special. It feels safe and the town is very clean.
We liked the pier for the walk, the view of surfers and the beach volleyball courts...
Lots of bars and restaurants - we liked Hurricanes for drinks, BJ’s for lunch and Sugar Shack for breakfast. The Kimpton hotel is wonderful.
Fantastic place - we have to come back in the future.

We came during the week and quite a bit was closed. Ended up walking the pier and beach. Have to say the worst public toilets I’ve ever seen and I’ve hiked the UP in Michigan! Ate at Sandy’s Beach Shack - good food!

An interesting combination of small mom and pop stores/restaurants and well-known chains. If you enjoy people watching, this is the place.

On the positive side, this is a fun (or it should be, anyway) pedestrian friendly strip of shopping just off the beach. So many good opportunities for dining, shopping, and walking are among the highlights of strolling this stretch of Main Street.
But it is very, very congested (almost always) and any good dining opportunities are few and far between. Lots of nice fast food quickie spots though. Forget about BJ's as it is a madhouse, packed shoulder-to-shoulder with noise levels off-the-charts.
Maybe the best alternative is to find some good food and bring it on back to dine in your room. Wish we would have done that, BJ's pub was pure insanity and it takes a lot of poor service for us to register our displeasure and leave a $3 tip (yes, it was all that bad). Cold pizza, poor service, consider your options!
Still, Main Street/downtown has places to waste some time and maybe some money. Can't say this is a super-strong draw for us but it is nice to have a "Downtown" so close to the beach.
One of our great finds (oh, well , it should have been, anyway) was a small Shawarma shop, "Charlies", on Main Street. The owner is from Jerusalem so thought we'd give him a try. Our Shawarma/Doner Kabop taste buds are pretty sophisticated (having been honed in Europe at some of our favorite places) but ... the truth if it is, I make far better shawarma than this wonderful man makes. Chalk this up for a failure.
You can't win them all.

I love downtown Huntington Beach. It has just enough to do, awesome restaurants, great people watching and it's right on the ocean. What more could you want?

enjoy mornings, afternoons and evenings. there is something for every person in the family. you can not go wrong

A few hours away from home. I am sure I did not check every business or restaurant but I might in the future.
It is a pleasant, nice and peaceful area with many shopping options.
It is also close to great surfing spots and that makes Huntington a perfect place to hang around.

If I had to choose my favorite spot on this planet it would be Downtown HB and Main Street to be exact. I love the energy its none stop!!

Some fab. clothing stores on the walk, the prices are good, especially at the end on the left general shop is great they have everything, and the famous Jacks surf shop! The food places are spot on too!

Even in the early morning, the shopping, cafe, bars, and restaurant area close to the Huntington Beach Pier is buzzing with activity. We stopped for an early morning coffee and people watching.

Main Street is always a nice stroll , Dukes restaurant has a great view.
Lots of great little shops, The surfing museum has lots of great history

Great town to hang out next to the beach and the pier. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars to choose from. What a beautiful day

Lots and lots of shops, food, carts, activities, old car shows, friendly people. Really enjoyed just walking and talking to new people and enjoying the beautiful weather !!

Standard surf and beach town stuff. Walk to Starbucks for a coffee but know that the vintage clothing stores aren't much to write home about.

Lots of restaurants every thing from Mexican to Japanese’a food. Lots of bars and cantina style sitting outside. You’ll always find some fun and delicious no mater what time of the day it is.

We love it here and are repeat visitors! Surf stuff, sports stuff, upscale shopping, restaurants, ice cream stops, clean and pleasant to walk around. Great sunsets on the beach!

There's a big parking garage a block off of Main Street making it easy to access the area and it's priced reasonably.
As you walk around you'll have tons of options for food and lots of beachy shopping. And since you're a block from the sand you'll have lots of scantily clad beachgoers cruising around for some nice eye candy. You can't ask for much more.

Downtown is a wonderful place to walk around and see the sites. Stop and have a coffee and people/dog watch. It's a very friendly dog city! I enjoyed the shops. Make it Tuesday night to the market which is really great fun.

Main street is such a great place to stroll down before or after a trip to the pier. People watching and plenty of shops to visit. Ended up eating pizza and drinking cold craft beer. The best of both worlds!

SURF CITY USA is a fairly typical beach community with the usual attractions: ice cream shops, T-shirt and souvenir stores, cafes, bars, restaurants, surf shops and lots of people. This downtown area has been recently refurbished, so the face of it is relatively new. The best of the new area is Pacific City. The rest is still a bit tired, though there is paid parking available in most places. It is midbrow level in sophistication. No fine dining exists here, but there are a few view restaurants and lots of action on the street. Watch for street people. Across from downtown is the beach.

Huntington Beach is a cute town. I enjoyed walking the streets and admiring the shops. Stopped for a coffee after walking the beach. The shops seem more upscale/new and more plentiful than at nearby Newport Beach.

Enjoyed sightseeing here will recommend for everyone to visit. Close to Costa Mesa huge Mall there. Had a great time

I brought my family along on a recent work trip. We took a stroll through downtown and to the pier - beautiful surroundings and lots of options for dining and shopping.

Was recommended to visit here from our concierge at the Newport Coast Villas. Ate dinner at Dukes close by then was able to enjoy all of the sights, music, great food, vendors, and amazing farmers market, So glad we had the opportunity to visit here on a Tuesday night! Such a great ambiance with a nice variety!

Good place to go with friends for something to drink or eat, lot of places to choose, great surf shops with lot of brands

It's a nice place to visit and shop. Also go to the the pier in the beach and have fun in the sun. Great restaurants too.

There are a number of good restaurants and cute shops, not to mention the great surf shops!
But again, as with Pier Plaza, there are a number of regular groups that hang out. At the Visitors Center steps outside the 7-Eleven, next to the PostOffice and at the corner across from Starbucks. They'll ask for change, and lounge around, other than that they don't really interact, but generally speaking, the areas aren't left clean. Food and candy wrappers, cigarettes butts, straws and cups.
Great shops and restaurants!

I used to go to Huntington beach for a leisurely Sunday breakfast, and to hang out and watch the crowd. H.B. has gone from homey, easy going surf crowds, to upscale, corporate and fast-paced action. It was almost 20 years ago when I first visited, and you do expect changes, but the makeover of Main Street is remarkable. Nice stores, and the restaurants are very polished and higher end, but it's not a sleepy surf town any more. It is a place that you will want to visit, if you're in the area. The police have a reputation for being hard-nosed, so take care where you park, if you can find a place. That's a tough one - the parking is really hard on the crowded weekends.

There is nothing special about this downtown. Its very tourist and seemed dirty. Then late night the party scene takes over the small downtown.

I visit downtown when ever I'm in town to see what the latest in trends are for beach goers and water athletes alike. I'm never disappointed. To food in the area will likely be a wait and I typically eat at the beach or bring my own. It's worth the stroll. Coming from a little town in the Midwest some of the shops are out of my price range but there are a few of your nickel and dime gift shops also.

I've lived in HB for 30+ years. Even though it has lost much of its unique charm it remains a beautiful beach city. Most of the 8 mile strip of beach is without buildings. The few small structures scattered are placed to allow rentals & your regular beach food. The reconstructed pier is a great place to watch surfers & the occasional dolphin. Some very nice shops in the downtown area & plenty of restaurants to choose from. Several excellent hotels. I definitely choose downtown over nearby Pacific City.

I really liked the feel oh HB. Way more relaxed than its more northerly beach brothers. It is a great place to shop and relax off the main beaten track.

Was good to check out downtown Huntington Beach, Surf City USA, the cultural home of surfing on the US west coast. All the famous names on the sidewalk were good to see and all the surfwear companies with shops straight across from the beach.

The shops and displays in Huntington Beach are timeless but they are also updated. Main Street looks directly down on the pier and it is near the fabulous new shopping area. Shop, eat and watch the guys and gals. The weather is mostly great.

I just love the Huntington Beach area! It's chill, beautiful, with lots to offer like great restaurants and shopping. The beach itself is immaculate and there are fire pits for the public to use every night! I would love to live here!

stopped at a few stores and bought glasses and clothes at the little boutique and a huge store (names escape me) but it was fun walking and strolling along and stopping in at the little mom/pop shops

We were so shocked to see how beautiful and adorable this town was. They are not letting the pandemic stop them- as most of the shops and restaurants are open. There are few little boutiques and surf shops as well. The food at the restaurants are amazing, a few Mexican places, seafood, ice cream and more. Definitely recommend visiting and staying at one of the hotels nearby!

Huntington Beach, where the surfers hang ten.
And the town has outdoor restaurants.
Which are so great to have for the locals and tourists.
Every weekend has a special event to attend.
The biggest Main Street July 4th parade around.
The pier is a great spot for fishing and to watch the sunset!
It is just full of families and beach goers and waves that bring the worlds best surfers.
Great hotels and homes to rent by the week!

Lots of restaurants and bars very lively place with a good fun vibe. All the places looked ripe for tourists but everyone seemed to be having fun

Plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and small businesses. There was plenty to do is a few hours. Would need a few visits to try all the restaurants.

Sat on the beach for the day to watch the air show, it was a wonderful day and a spectacular air show. Probably the best I’ve ever seen!

For sure a place I want to come back to, really nice beach. The waves are great, at least for an unexperienced Swede, body boarding was great. Don't expect the water to be warm, it is around 18-20C. We extended our stay with 2 additional days because of the nice hotel and the great beach.

You can find something for everyone. Lots of great places to shop especially for beach wear. Also lots of great places to eat. Plenty of parking and convenient to the beach.

great to explore this beach city on foot. it was clean and felt very safe. we loved exploring all the little shops and people watching... what a fun afternoon:)

Not a safe or fun place anymore. Drug paraphanalia on the streets and beaches, homeless harass residents and visitors, fights, etc. Find a different city to visit.

In town visiting a friend and this area is super trendy and cute. Everyone is friendly. Shopping was a little pricey it over all a great visit.

I enjoy walking down Main Street to the pier. There are always places open to eat with a variety of food choices and great bars to grab a drink. Just a note -- no open alcohol allowed on the streets. On Tuesday evenings, there is a street fair on Main Street with organic produce, vendors with a variety of items for sale, musicians and often a petting zoo and games for kids. Walking the pier in the morning or at sunset is a wonderful way to enjoy the amazing climate. At the end of the pier is Ruby's for a quick milkshake or a hamburger. Pacific City, the Hilton and Hyatt hotels are a short walk away.

With all of the So Cal communities attempting to become so upscale HB has stayed fairly true to being a low-key surf/water sports-oriented place to go to. When I walk out on the pier it is so interesting and fun to hear the comments of vacationers:
Lots of great restaurants
Sitting on main street people watching
Walking on the pier
Going in the water
Farmers market
It still has a "beach culture" that is not "uppity", as do so many others.
They absolutely have the most patriotic and best 4th of July parade and fireworks show.
Christmas time on Main Street is stellar.

Really nice place to stop and check out the sights and sounds. But in typical California way, no where to park thats reasonably priced. Sadly, more and more of these beach areas are for the rich!

Downtown Huntington Beach was AWESOME. Right across the street from the ocean with tons of shops and restaurants. Wish we had more time to take in all the things to do outside. Easy walking distance from hotels and public beach as well. One of my top five places I've visited.

Day or night, this strip invites you into this delightful beach culture. Don't expect a parking space along the street, but you can always find a spot a few blocks away. The food, the shops, and then, of course, the people watching draw us here .

We live nearby so we take bike rides and hangout here ,. Main street is great for people watching. Folks come from all over the world. Their are good restaurants and parking is easy in the structures. Walk to the pier or to Pacific City.
Famers market on Tuesday nights are good and there are car shows, surf contests, parades always going on.

Had a Great time cruising from location to location. We ended at the beach for the day. Loved stopping at the Long Board, Sparks & Dukes

Huntington Beach is one of my most favourite places in California. The Main Street is lively, fully of atmosphere with great restaurants and bars. There was also a market in while we where there. Go visit you won’t be disappointed

Our first full day in the US, and we spent it at Huntington Beach. This place is so chilled. The locals are the nicest people you could ever want to meet. We walked through the market they have at the start of the pier and it is filled with all sorts of great artwork, food and local produce and items. We walked up the main street and could not go past a coffee house without dropping in and tasting the food or drinks. Great surf shops and vintage clothes shops to visit. The beachfront itself was truly heaven. People were just kickin back enjoying the sunshine, the music was playing and we were all out to have a great time. Loved the place. If you want to try a nice area, go to Pacific City Shop Walk and make sure you go to the Jerky House located at the end of the walk just in on the left hand side of the entrance. Amazing treats.

We had a short stay in Huntingdon. Main street is nice with lots of shops and great terraces. Relaxing place to visit.

Very fun place to walk and see the surf culture . Main Street is where it's at! Stroll from the pier onto Main Street and be part of the crowds. Many outdoor and indoor eating places and plenty of shopping. Must stop by the popular Jacks and HSS surf shops. And check out the cement footprints of surfing legends. Very fun for the whole family.

Go down to Main street often. Great place to people watch, a variety of restaurants that are delish and cute boutiques and surf shops to browse in.

Can be a party zone but a fun place to visit. Lot's of shops with the beach vile. Lots of places to eat drink and party.

From shopping, to restaurants, to nightlife and sun, beach and surf, there is something for everyone here. Downtown HB is clean, friendly and safe. Explore the day on land or on sea. If you can't find it here then you aren't looking hard enough!
I lived in HB for 6 years and can recommend the downtown area for a great and relaxing time. It is casual and fun. It is California at its best and is the nicest coastline in Orange county.

Shocked to see nearly 50% of pedestrians on sidewalks and in stores MASKLESS. THIS INCLUDES ALL 5 OF THE POLICE OFFICERS WE SAW. This was a quick CA stop after a trip to Vegas for my mother and I.
Had I known the disregard for safety measures I would not have put us at risk by coming here. We did not sightsee like Id hoped... even the pier felt like target practice around people. Stores, both here and in Newport, allowed people in without masks. Regardless of how one feels about the topic it is a near worldwide mandate, especially with numbers surging again, is a requirement, and regret having made this stop. Nice scenic area but will not be back.

Lot's of people, bars and restaurants. Walking on the Pier is always a good time. It's Surf City USA, but I still long for the old days when it wasn't so developed.

Biked Huntington Beach Trail and downtown Huntington Beach. Beautiful area to bike around and see. Biking the trail was a dream come true!

Lots of outdoor seating for a variety of restaurants. You won't lack for souvenir options as there are many t-shirt shops with affordable prices.

Spend a few hours walking around the main streets of downtown Huntington Beach. Interesting beach shops, good restaurants and great scenery and it's all right across the street from the world famous "Surf City" beach.
We didn’t know it but we were staying at the great Hyatt Regency during the World Surfing Open Championship at Huntington Beach. It was great - being on the beach during the competition was really exciting with competitors biding their time for the perfect wave. We took recommendations from the lovely local residents which were all good for food and things to see. It was great - as was Jumpin’ Jack Benny - the band that played at the hotel on the Saturday night. There are some inconveniences that come with a major international event that we were not aware of but it was a really great experience. Looking forward to going back.
