They charge $2 per taste but it was worth it. We were there on a sunny day and hung out at the picnic tables in front. Bought beer to take back to CA as they don't distribute to West Coast.

Had the pleasure of tasting a few of Maine Beers brews at a place back home so we decided this must be a visit on our trip to Maine. Did not disappoint. Small space overlooking the brewery. Very new with solar panels on the roof and a company mission statement that gives back profits by partnering with 1% for the Planet. Their motto - "Do What's Right". I must say they do whats right brewing great beers. You taste all 8 on draft having the "All IN" flight or buy single glasses. Loved several including Woods and Water, Lunch, Mean Old Tom, Another One, and Zoe. Had a catering company in a tent making some great wood fired pizzas as well. Friendly, informative staff. Adult and kid games to play at every table. Very cool. If you like craft beers, this place is a must

There’s no denying MBC produces good beer but it doesn’t match the price point. Dinner at $8.99 for a 16.9oz bottle breaks down to .53 cents an ounce or $34.08 for a 4pack in 16oz cans. You can get the best ipas in the world for significantly less.

Producing over 45,000 barrels in 2024, MBC is the third largest brewer in Maine. I walked into their tasting room on Tuesday, July 15th, 2025 and tried to order a Dinner Imperial IPA but they didn't have any available on draft when I visited. They did have bottles of Dinner, but I'm always going to choose draft over bottled beer when at a taproom of a brewery, since it's fresher. They released the Dinner DIPA on draft one week later on July 22nd, 2025. Since I was too early for Dinner, I got what I thought would be the next best thing, a 16 oz. Lunch American IPA ($9) on draft. Lunch uses Amarillo, Centennial, and Simcoe hops. I didn't like it at all. It was one and done for me.
In addition to beer, they also offer wine, cocktails, cider, soft drinks as well as pizza, salads, snacks, and a dessert cannoli. There are picnic type tables for seating. They also provide Wi-Fi service for taproom guests. Every single employee I had contact with was super friendly. It was apparent they all enjoy their jobs and are treated very well by their employer. An updated correction to their business's schedule: they are open an hour later, until 9 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays. Allow at least 30 minutes, or longer if you are getting food.

Arrived from Brooklyn NY Saturday late after and was recommended to stop by the brewery.
Being a Saturday night it was quite busy 6pm. With our 7 yo in tow we waited on the upper dining area outside for an outside table.
Ordered our pizzas and beer plus root beer, then played some corn as we waited for a table.
As a table finally got up since they were chatting it up for a good 30 min not eating or drinking anything, we finally got to sit and eat. It did take an hr for our food to come out. But that was expected.
Beer and pizza was delicious, even took 6 btls of “Lunch” to take home.

We came just for beer; you still get assigned a table for that. They were very busy on a Saturday night, but the line moved quickly. Must do destination for craft beer aficionados; many styles of beer to choose from. Staff is paid a living wage.

We visit Freeport 2-3 times a t=year. During our last visit we found this brewery and now we are so fond of this place that we come to Freeport just so we can enjoy this place!

Amazing food and service. A very unique experience. I had the autumn harvest.. absolutely phenomenal! Our whole experience was fantastic

Environmentally responsible beer... Do What's Right.
Happy vibe with great beer and wood fired pizza 😍

Maine beer company is hands down my favorite brewery. My first visit I was skeptical because we waited in line for 3hrs for the dinner release. I was blown away, I almost wanted to hate on it but couldn't. I've been back 3 times since and have always been happy with the visit. The have a wholesome family feel that some of the competition do not. While the price for a case of beer is on the high side, they do great things for the community and keep a clean footprint.

Every time we visit Maine, we make sure to stop at MBC. Their beer and food is fantastic, but it is their philosophy of giving back that really matters. I was so excited to see their growth and expansion of the business. This company deserves every success they have. Be sure to stop by- you won’t be disappointed as everything they have on tap is fantastic.

One of the best brewery's I have ever been too. Owners are great! Donate all tips to environmental issues. Recommend highly

I’m Maine born and raised! Love the beer here, pizza and pretzels too!
Dinner is wonderful and Lunch is awesome my two favorites !
All great until I have to use the MENS Room to pee. Great Urinals , love standing tall , clean and nice. With wonderful area to wash your hands, Until you turn to dry your your hand and see a Tampon dispenser, In the MENS room!!!! If you don’t have MALE genitalia then you’re in the wrong space!
Maine Beer Co stop falling into the Progressive trap,

we live in maine and are very familiar with the beer scene; we have family members who worked at local breweries and friends who are owners of beer themed restaurants.
We love MBC's offerings; esp. Peeper, which on draft is fabulous....and just had some time to kill yesterday and my wife suggested we go there. We grabbed something to eat before arriving, because all they have are popcorn and nuts for snacks. It's a clean, unadorned environment with windows on the brewery, a nice bar, open, clean, comfortable rustic seating. Very busy. It's not a tasting room where you can get free beer and a tour, although maybe they offer that. This is a brewery bar; you buy their beers - glasses, flights of 4, or 8 5 oz serviings, and can get bottles to go.
Lot of fun, superb beers, even the weakest was 3/4 stars on my personal rating scale. Too bad they don't have at least pizza or something but they may be trying to encourage turnover.
Only gripes were that the guy behind the bar was from the Grateful Dead school of personal style and I don't think he could have smiled if he'd had rictus sardonicus. And the gal behind the bar was OK but also seemed a little put out. Not super friendly.
Souvenirs are also available. Well worth the visit. Just south of the main retail street through Freeport. Gritty McDuff's - the original maine brewpub - is just up the street and has good food but MBC has world class beer.

Stopped in here to get a takeout pizza and a couple of beers to take back to our hotel.
It is a nice spot, with a youthful vibe and very well organized. Ordered the pizza and a salad to go, and bought 2 bottles of ales (a Zoe and a Imperial Stout).
The staff are helpful and very efficient, the pizza was ready tin under 10 minutes.
The pizza was delicious, the salad was great and the beer was very, very good. A great combination for as lighter supper.
The Zoe is a lighter ale, the stout darker and not overly sweet. We had the Buffalo pizza, which was super.
Highly recommend.

We were driving by on the way to LL Bean and stopped to see this place. We are avid beer tasters and have been all over the country to various microbreweries. We found this to be on the better side of quality compared with other, more-recognized names. We tasted 4 beers and all of them were superb. We are not particularly "hoppy" people, and most of the beers are IPAs or very hoppy, but nonetheless, they were quite excellent tasting. The staff was very outgoing and friendly.

This place has beer and pretzels (with mustard). That's it in the food and drink department. But the beer there is AMAZING and worth the very easy and quick trip off 295. Even have beer in to go bottles or a tasting room. If you like beer. Go here. It's that simple.

We stopped by the Maine Beer Company after a friend picked us up at the Portland airport. My husband had read a positive review in The Week Magazine. The brewery is located in a quaint white building with a front porch and outdoor seating. The inside is clean and spare with several large tables that could seat eight. A large window allows guests to watch the brewing. It was busy even on a Monday am, and a solo traveler let us join him. Friends in Missouri told him it was a required stop. They have eight beers. You can savor a flight of four or all eight. We opted for a flight of four. Beers are served in small snifters atop a wood tray, recessed for the glasses. The names of the beers are written in chalk on the tray. My favorite beer was golden and grapefruity. Bad Tom was rich and caramely. Great refreshment after a day of flying. So glad we stopped.

For our party of 2 adults and 2 kids we ordered 2 pizzas, 2 salads and cheese sticks. Honestly it was more than we needed. The salad was very leafy with delicious greens and a delicious mustard vinegarette. The pizza is really good with quality toppings and a tasty crust. The beer is $8.00 for 16 oz. The Lunch IPA is pretty renowned and is very balanced. I recommend trying it. Our bill was about 60-70 bucks but it was all delicious and again, more than we needed. Highly recommend MBC.

We stopped here on our way back to Ohio. We were told about this place from a native of Maine, and we were not disappointed. The beer was very good, just seemed to have a lot of IPAs during our visit. I really enjoyed their "Lunch" beer, which is one of their most popular. We also bought a pizza from a local food truck that was at the brewery. It was a very enjoyable stop.

Love this small Maine brewery. Produces some of the best beers - tend to be hoppy and complex flavors.
Four times a year, they release their cult double IPA Dinner. One used to line up overnight, but now they release via a ticketing system which is surprisingly well organized!
The tasting room is small, and no food is served, but you can sample a large variety of their amazing beers (not Dinner except on release dates). It’s small, unpretentious, and friendly ... Maine!
They have a good selection of bottles and some merchandise available for purchase. Many of these varieties cannot be purchased easily even in the best beer stores so this is the best place to buy Maine Beer.
No tours but you can have a peek through glass windows to their production facility.
Definitely worth a trip for craft beer lovers!

Came here on part of our brewery passport adventure. Tried 8 different beers which some were good and some were interesting! The service was great and they knew what they were talking about. It was a good time with my boyfriend!

Visited here while on vacation. We are huge fans of beer, and also visiting breweries. We tried all 8 of the beers for $18 plus tax. Although this did seem a bit pricey, they were all extremely tasty. Loved the Mean Old Tom, Peeper, and Lunch. They were all so delicious!! I understand them charging for samples, but maybe they could give you a little discount if you decide to purchase bottles before leaving? Just seemed a bit pricey.
Also, the guy who waited on us had zero personality. Didn't talk up the beers at all. Thought he might come over and see how we liked everything, but no, he was too busy on his ipod the whole time.

We stopped in for an 8 flight and pizza for lunch today, and it was an excellent experience! Beer selection was diverse and quite good, and the pizza was excellent. The venue had very nice seating areas both inside and out, and beer to go was readily available upon departure. Not overcrowded at lunch, but that will change as the summer season gets underway.
Would definitely go back!!

Nice operation and good beer selections. Wood fired pizza was very good. Self serve on beer and pizza. Very nice inside and out

I'm not a huge fan of super hoppy beers, so most of theirs were not my favorite. I had gotten a bottle of the porter for my birthday though and that was good, so it seemed like a worthwhile stop since we were going to Freeport anyway. Tastings are a bit pricey compared to a lot of other breweries, but I guess a small start-up has to make money somehow, so we just viewed it as an activity. The stout was pretty good (porter was not available as a tasting) and I brought a bottle home. My husband liked the Peeper and bought a bottle of that to bring home. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but if in Freeport, I would certainly recommend stopping. (Sign is in small lettering, so you have to be looking for it from the road or you'll miss it.)

My son, daughter-in-law and 2 year old grandson visited Maine Beer Company after a trip to Wolfe’s Neck Farm. The new remodel is fantastic! Lots of seating in an airy large building, as well as outside tables. Their wood-fired pizza’s are delicious — just order at the bar when you get your beer and they’ll let you know when it is done. We also got the special Capriccio Salad, pictured below. Maine Beer is a mouth-full Maine Craft Beer — many choices, too. Delightful family experience — and on a Tuesday there were lots of kids and babies there. I highly recommend this place for a tasty lunch experience.

By random chance, after getting some fresh lobsta off a buddy's boat and driving to a friends to make dinna, we past this place! Detour ensued. Low and behold, this stuff was actually good. The brewery was new, clean, and fun! Of course, where there is beer there is usually a good time to be had. So we enjoyed it. All three of us Cali kids got the sampler to start and picked out 6 different selections. All tasty suds quite comparable to some out here in San Diego. Loved them all. Very drinkable ales. We ended up purchasing some to bring and share back home with those who appreciate them. Do what's right!

Beer is darn good so always now a must do when in area. Need to go back when "Dinner" is available!!

The beer is very good even if the girl behind the bar was uninspired. Crisp, clean beers that are very good. Pair the beer with the awesome pizza form the food truck and you'll hit a home run. Nice place , but put someone more enthusiastic behind the bar.

We decided to visit the Maine Beer Company on our recent visit to Freeport. Relatively new and beautiful facility that offers a beer hall feel. Wood fired pizzas were very good however the day we visited the beer selection was heavy on IPA’s—which I am not a fan of hoppy beers. Overall the MBC will likely do well but I’ll skip my visit in the future. Friendly and professional service.

This is a well designed building with very friendly and helpful staff and a wide choice of beverages and food to eat.

The tap room is a little small but they do have outside areas available. The beer is great, generous tasting samples. The pizza looked great but we didn't have any. The outside area is dog friendly. Glad we stopped here.

We made a trip just for Maine Beer and were very happy we did. We had the "All in" for $18 which was absolutely reasonable and could be shared by two people. Even though "dinner" wasn't listed as tasting on their website it was available and we were finally able to try it. It was as delicious as expected! We learned that in order to buy bottles of dinner you have to get in line around 4am when it's release and they open at 7am. Maybe another time....
The pretzels are also very good and pair well with the beer tasting. The ambiance is great and everyone there is having a good time. After our sampler tasting we ordered a 10oz dinner and enjoyed it on the picnic tables outside.
Overall a great visit!

Stopped in during our drive up to Freeport and we're so glad we did! Great staff, very friendly, sampled some fabulous beer and got a case to bring home. Our favs were Zoe and red wheelbarrow. Atmosphere clean and simple, very fun!

This place is gorgeous. Plenty of room to walk around and explore. They have a patio for family's. I really loved the indoor fountain, it is awesome. They do have a variety of beers but also offer a white and red wine along with soda for the kiddos. The pizza was amazing. I can not say enough about the crust, yum. They also have great pretzels. MBC is wheelchair accessible and the bathrooms are big enough for any type of assistants. The only thing that I noticed, is no setting at the bar. The people that work there are very knowledgeable and helpful. Love it.

Great selection of beers. Stopped by on a rainy day and tried all eight of the beers on tap. Great tasting beers and a simple fun atmosphere

"Do What'a Right" is their mantra and they do just that their beer and eco-friendly footprint. The first thing you will notice is the large solar panels out front. The second thing is their no tipping policy with all tips going to one of 5 charities that you can choose.
But the main draw here is the beer. They are well known nationally for their hoppy options but also feature excellent Porter/Stouts. They do not have a kitchen but they usually have local cheese and pretzels for sale while you taste their beer. It can get us when the tour bus arrives. It otherwise is calm and quiet. Beer available to go as well.

A good selection of beers were available to try, in two different sizes. I enjoyed my visit and particularly enjoyed the stout/porter.

I had a great pizza here for lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff. Cool funky space for indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs welcome.

Some of the very best brews not only in Maine, but in the entire Northeast. I've been a fan of their beers for a few years now, but today was my first opportunity to visit, and I'm glad I did. The beers are as fresh as they can possibly be, and there is a nice variety. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
They sell a small amount of munchies (peanuts and such), but you'll be here for the beers. Indoor seating includes classic rock playing in the background, but as it was such a beautiful day today, we opted for the picnic tables out front. They're a little low for me, I wish they were about 4-6 inches higher, but the large umbrellas provided shelter from the sun, while letting a nice breeze blow through.
It did seem rather curious to me that the restrooms (I'm speaking strictly about the men's room, mind you) seem to be one-at-a-time instead of multiple stalls. However, I never had to wait, nor did anyone have to wait on me, so it seems to work for them.
Prices for fresh, cold, bottled beer are quite reasonable, and I was glad to leave with several bottles to bring home. This was a quality visit, and I heartily recommend it to anyone who cares about really great craft beer.

Definitely make reservations on their website ahead of time and you won't be disappointed! I heard many people just show up and were upset over the wait, but it was a Friday around dinner time so that's to be expected. Especially at a very popular brewery. In Pennsylvania we pay $18-$20+ per one bottle of Maine Beer. I was almost thinking of skipping this brewery bc I thought it would be too expensive. But to my surprise, they only charge $6.50 to around 8.50 per bottle at the brewery. I was shocked... So our local places in Pennsylvania are really marking this beer up more than I ever expected. So needless to say we bought quite a bit to take home. I can't see myself purchasing it locally in PA again. Everyone working was super nice and helpful and offered suggestions. We really enjoyed our time there. We also ordered a pizza with onions and the cheese bread sticks. Both items came out within minutes of ordering them. Everything was good and we highly recommend visiting.

Stopped into the Tap room after a day of shopping. The staff was very helpful and offered samples. Would recommend this to anyone.

Friendly, easy to deal with, clean, comfortable, easy parking, easy paying, good location.
Beer is outstanding!

We visited here about 8-10 years ago and enjoyed our visit so we decided to go back when we were in the area. We knew there had been an expansion but we were amazed to see it in person. The place is beautiful and so well done. There is a tree fountain in the middle that is just inspiring. We didn't realize that we would need reservations so our tip is to make one. Luckily they let us sit in the beer garden area. In this area you are able to order your food and drinks at the counter and they bring the food to you. We ended up splitting two pizzas and a salad and everything was delicious, especially the farm fresh feta on the salad. Cheers to this place and we will be back again. Merchandise shop was also nice.

Mushroom and pistachio pesto pizza was INCREDIBLE. Charcuterie board was just okay. Cheesy bread was excellent too. The property is fabulous, big open space, and clean - will definitely go back.

Travelled from MD to Maine for brewery tour - Maine Beer Co being one targeted. Love their beer and we appreciated the beer tasting flight options - 4 or 8. Some beer options are available for purchase - singles or be case. Disappointed all beer options were not available for tasting or purchase; ie, Dinner. Go prepared to eat their fire-oven pizza - as good as the beer. Finally, I was surprised they were out of stock on apparel items - only men's small shirts were available.

Got good advice on selecting a beer. Sampler tray a good option if you just don't know which way to go. Found several we liked. They serve decent pizza and it's quick.
Large comfortable room. Helpful staff at beer taps and throughout the room.
Not everything they had on tap was available to purchase - assortment is erratic - but we still were able to take away several we liked - just not our favorite.

Highly recommend this fun place for dinner. My wife and I enjoyed some pizza and beer on a Friday night and there was no wait! The facility is very large and easy can accommodate alot of customers
The food was good and the staff was very friendly and anxious to make sure you have everything you want/need

MBC finished their renovations less than a year ago and the end result is incredible! Wood fired pizza, two floors and fresh, fresh, FRESH beer! Kid friendly, too. Enjoy!

The taproom at Maine Beer Company is a lively spot where you can sit down and enjoy a pint, or have a sample flight of four brews. Cold bottled beer can also be purchased to take home.
Maine Beer Company has flavourful and technically superior beer. Their IPA 'Lunch' and the pale ale 'a tiny beautiful something' are both amazing examples of well-crafted hop-forward ales. (I would bathe in them if I could afford it)
While you are enjoying your brew inside, you can take a peek through the big windows to see the complete beer-making operation. If you want to sit outside, there are picnic tables for you to sip your suds.

I love everything about this place. The atmosphere is wonderful, the people were great, and the beers were fantastic. If I was forced to make a negative comment, I'm sad they no longer make Beer II... forever it shall be my white whale

Should make reservations for a visit, which I didn’t but luckily was able to get in. Tastings are very reasonable at $2.50 for 5 oz which is plenty for light drinkers like me. They also have a limited selection of snacks/appies like pizza and popcorn which I didn’t try. Atmosphere was fun, you have the large beer tanks in the background. No tours, which is fine with me. Just a fun way to spend an hour after a long day of shopping at the outlets.

Really fun space. Staff was very friendly.
We love the beer. Had pizza. Also very good. Bought beer to go home with. Cant wait to go back.

Can’t beat the options offered. I enjoyed each of the IPAs that I had on my flight - one more than the other. Took home some dinner and second dinner. Price for bottles a bit steep, so only a few left with me.
Enjoyed the sausage, fennel pizza on gluten free crust. Awesome flavor and one of the best GF crusts we have ever had. Salad was fresh and delicious.
Great place in terms of family atmosphere, great to kick back and relax, clean and fun.
Only disappointment was that there was no gluten free alcohol option for one in our party. Soda was only choice. I would think adding a local hard cider on draft would be another option and be win-win for all parties. Please consider some option along this line for the GF customer.
Can’t beat the philosophy of this company as well. Take care of planet, workers, causes and customers. Keep up the great work!

Stopped by the tasting room of the brewery and were greeted and assisted immediately. We were very happy with the mission of the brewery to give back. Every staff member we talked to were friendly and happy to share information with us. We asked one person to take our picture and he did and he wanted to check to make sure we were happy with it before he walked off. Post Ride snack was by far the best beer, really enjoyed it.

Great place great taste
Abby you rock
Ran into place on the way to Freeport
Some really good choices .... Lunch ipa was my favorite

Good beers, nice atmosphere. Stopped in after a day of shopping at LL Bean. Enjoyed the beer way more than the shopping!

If you are up in the Freeport area you'll have plenty of breweries to choose from, but I would say that Maine Beer is one not to be missed. Big tip is either go when they first open or make a reservation. This place is very popular and will fill up fast as the day moves along. They have a good selection of beer, a few standards and a few rotating. They have just enough beer on tap to try what you'd like but not feel overwhelmed or that you are missing out on something. If you get hungry they have a few snacks and some good wood fire pizza that fills the brewery with delicious smells. Not to mention they have a great mission and take good care of their employees.

This place is great! The staff is so friendly and helpful. The beer is awesome! We made it for their infamous "dinner" beer and I'm so happy they had it available still- It was goooood! We had a flight of all their beers too and we were not disappointed. Make sure you stop in here if you're in the area!

Excellent place for experiencing great beers accompanied by good food. Most impressive, all tips are donated to charites.

My husband and I are big fans of any beer this company brews. When we found out they have a tasting room, we planned a trip to Freeport. The tasting room has a great vibe and the staff is very accommodating. Beer was great as usual.
They are building a larger tasting room with game and activity areas, which they plan to open in March 2019. Can't wait to see.

We visited several breweries in the Portland/ Freeport area. This had a friendly staff and atmosphere, as well as awesome brews!

First Maine beer has been one of my favorites as the quality is above average there for when in the area I decided I wanted to visit having learned that they make fresh woodfired pizza on site I just started lunch was perfect time to visit. The staff was amazing pizza was fantastic, I had the seasonal vegetable pizza. I would visit again.

I've wanted to go to the Maine Beer Company since they did a collaboration with a local beer company here in So Cal and I was not disappointed! It was a great place to go on an autumn rainy day, though there was basically standing room only (Saturday). There is overflow seating outside under a large tent with space heaters. It is clearly popular with locals and tourists alike (we made our way there from Cape Elizabeth after seeing the Portland Head Light).
We had a flight of four 5 oz beers for $10 and liked every one of them, though I tend to stay away from IPAs. The beers tasted were: Session IPA, Beer V Lager, Mean Old Tom Stout and Zoe Amber Ale. I liked every one of them, especially the stout.
The service was fine, it was easy to find and the parking is accessible to the brewery. Their gear is very cool (caps, stickers, t-shirts, and beer to go!). Don't miss out on this one!

This place is spectacular in every way! The folks that work there provide the best and most friendly service we have ever experienced! Beer was good and our pizza was excellent (sausage & Calabrian chili). Pizza had nice spice and an unusual touch of honey. We had a really nice dinner experience altogether! Busy place so come early and consider a reservation,

Freeport wasn't really on our way from Boston to Bar Harbor, but we made it a point to stop for one reason: the Maine Beer Company. Yes, the beer is expensive, but it's also magnificent. So glad we made the stop, and here's hoping we get their beer in NC soon!

Went for the beer.. was surprised by the delicious food. The pizza was superb and the salad was great. The freshness of the ingredients was over the top..... and the beer wasn't bad either. Nice atmosphere and great staff!

Down to earth brewery not prentitous snobs here. Laid back easy, guy tending the taps super friendly and nice. Glad I can find maine beer in boston but not opposed to driving up again

Love it, Wednesday night with Lunch and a pizza. Not cheap but worth the stop or visit. We sat inside and the pizza was delivered from the outdoor area to our table. After we ate we were able to easily buy a case of bottles to go. Great merchandise available to buy.

LOVE the Maine Beer Company! The beer is exceptional. The food is so delicious! The wine is great! The seating, whether inside or out, is wonderful. The staff are top notch. Plus....the company's philosophy is one to definitely get behind. Don't miss a stop here!

Besides the notoriously phenomenal beer, this place has great fire cooked pizza. It also has toys and coloring books for the kids. Must stop and taste a few!

Thanks to TP I found this brewery. This was my first of four stops for the day. The beers excellent, I had lunch and another one. Both very good. They offer large fresh pretzels with spicy mustard, I think $5.50, looked delicious. Indoor or outdoor seating. This is two miles a south of outlets. Great place to go if you are not a shopper or want a good quick beer.

Great beer by great people that give back to the community. I am a local And love to support local!! Also a great destination for visitors to Freeport area - if you like good beer this is a must visit!

This is quite the large brewery, Impressive in size and the building is very inviting from the minute you walk to the door. They give back to the community with the tips as they pay their employees well. Good selection of beer and they have a wood burning pizza oven. Seating indoor and out. Interesting story how they started to where they are now. A must stop for the brewery enthusiast if you're in freeport!

What could be better? With their new pizza oven in place we decided to take a trip for Fathers Day. The beer is always great and we were really pleased with the pizza - crust is chewy and perfected! My only suggestions would be to have more staff. Granted it was Sunday and Father’s Day but we had to wait in a line to order beer that took 25 minutes and then by the time we were able to order the pizza I was beyond starving. They should either put more staff at register or have wait staff to serve. Except for this I would have given 5 stars!

Went in for a visit after passing by and discovering its existence. We went with the ALL IN which was a generous 5 oz pour of each beer available on tap that night. I would have like a little cheat sheet to take with me as I had to search around for a listing of the beers and descriptions that was in a plastic insert on the bar. They were too busy for the server to do anything except pour and take our money. In addition to needing little explanations to take with us, they need to offer a snack with every 4 beer sampler I think. Needed a crunchy dry or salty palette cleanser between samples.
A good mix of people in the crowd, super busy, good beer (bought several to take home), and worth a visit when in the area!

Maine Beer company has the best beer in Maine. Another one, lunch, Dinner all exceptional. The only problem is the $7 to $8 a pint price tag. For the price of a 12 pack I can get a case of Bissell Brothers or Heady Topper that matter. MBC should consider selling 4 packs and lower the price point.. Again the beer is great.

The beers we tasted were flavorful and well balanced. Pizza is available on-site. The interior of the tasting room has a beautiful metal sculpture tree fountain.

We were there during the “Dinner” beer release. Lots of people hanging out and enjoying the weather (which was the original reason why we stopped when driving by). Beer was good with a few flight options or a single pour. Also had a wood pizza oven if you wanted to order food. Line moved fast, but could see this place exploding into a very busy place over the next couple of years. Recommend a stop if you are in the area and enjoy a beer

Love this beer!! Tasting room is clean and has a good view of the brewing room. Tastings are nice sizes and there is plenty of room to sit and enjoy them. We were worried because we arrived just as the brew bus tour arrived. But, we had no problem getting tastings, bottles to take home, and tshirts in a reasonable amount if time. It was fun! And the beer is so good.. Did I mention the beer is awesome?
Enjoy!!

This is a nice little stop to make when you're in Freeport. Its a little brewery and they have tables outside and in where you can do a beer sampling. Outside they have a pizza oven as well and they looked good but we didnt have one. The beer tasting was interesting to try some local brews. Recommend a stop here!

We went midweek, so maybe that was the problem? We admitted that we don't usually prefer things with high ibu's, we were met with a rather curt "We don't focus on ibu's, we brew for flavor, not ibu's."
So I asked for four samples of whatever she thought was the least bitter beer on tap. I explained we tend to prefer lagers over ales (they didn't have any), we like porter and stouts and reds and generally malty beers. They had one. It was only average. We left four sample glasses half full. Nobody tried to talk to us. Nobody tried to explain anything about the brewery operation. If there was a tour other than the overlook from the sampling area, we certainly weren't invited to take place.
As we were leaving a rather boisterous group of "Bro-dawgs" was entering and they were greated with smiles and cheers. For my money, I'd go back to Gritty McDuffs.
I'm hoping it was a fluke, but it was really a bad experience. My three stars are generous.

Great beer, laid back atmosphere and worth the trip! I love how they have solar panels, LED lights and are as eco friendly as any brewery I have ever been too.

You have to like pale ales and IPAs because that's what they seem to specialize in and was all they had for pours, at least when we visited, with the exception of a nitro stout. We had a flight of two pale ales, the MO and Peeper; two IPAs, the Woods and Waters and Another One; and the Mean Old Tom nitro stout. They were all good, but a few tasted very similar. Our favorites were the Woods and Waters and the Mean Old Tom. It's a huge tasting room with an enclosed outside patio and has a beautiful 'tree fountain'. They also have a mezzanine that overlooks the tasting room and production area, bottles for sale, merchandise, and wood-fired pizza and salads.

I love Maine Beer Company. I will always visit coming through and drink/try a few. So happy they had Dinner on tap! Our bartender/expert was great. Nice outdoor picnic tables so we can sit and have a beer with the dog outside.
I love this beer. I would have given 5 stars but the other guy working (wish I got his name) was a little rude when we asked about A Tiny Beautiful Something that we had tasted a month earlier at our local gastropub. He said it was so not available anywhere local to Freeport in such a rude way- made us feel stupid. I could tell the guy helping us was embarrassed.
I will go back and keep buying their stuff- but if I see this guy, I will look to someone else for help, or comeback another time. Booo to you Mr. Beersnob. Sorry I asked about a beer I thought was outstanding when I visited your place of employment.

Spent part of an afternoon at the Maine Beer Company in Freeport - a nice respite after touring the outlet stores in town. 4 IPAs on draft in the tasting room, all with completely different characters. A stout, a couple of pale ales, and a light lager rounded out the offerings on tap. “Dinner” (their DIPA) is phenomenal. The others are very good. Didn’t try the food - not sure about the other reviews trashing them for the food. It’s a tasting room! It’s about the beer! The pizza and the pretzels are just a bonus.
Love the motto of the brewery: “Do what’s right”. Very eco-friendly and gives back to the community. Worth a stop!

The place is jammed most every day so don't be in a hurry and the tasting room is the place to start. The beer is fresh and extremely tasty and there is no doubt that you could find your next favorite brew right here in Freeport. In warmer months there is a barbecue outside that has smokin' [no pun intended] food.

We're not big IPA fans, so we tried the Prince Percy pilsner, the Peeper pale ale, the No. 47 Black Barn Program pale ale, and the Fall coffee stout. They were all good, although the Fall stout was bitter. We also shared a plain cheese pizza, which was good but a little too salty. The atmosphere and service were great. The Maine Beer Lunch IPA is one of the most popular beers around -- it's featured in a lot of bars and restaurants in Portland and the rest of the state, as well as in New Hampshire.

Nice facility with a good selection of beer, especially the iPad we were looking for. The pizza was excellent. We’d go back.

Excellent selection of beer isn't the only reason to stop here. This popular craft brewery has a large and clean tasting room with a cleaver selection of light food and beverage options (including flights of beer). Indoor and outdoor seating available. Additionally, for those interested in sustainable power, an impressive solar array and other renewable energy solutions are actively engaged in their beer making process. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended for any beer lovers!

We absolutely love MBC and wish that we were able to get their beer in Virginia. The brewers here do amazing things with how they craft the taste. Dinner & lunch (two of the beers they offer) are off the charts good.
But what we love the most about MBC is how they give back to the community. Top notch in so many ways.

Delicious!! We didn’t have a reservation but we’re fortunate enough to get a table. The vibe is relaxed, the pizza really good and the beer, the reason we came. Definitely will come again.

So... Maine Beer Co produces some excellent hop forward beers and you can pick up bottles right from the fridge. They also do samplers as well as full pours. You can't do a brewery tour but you can see the actual brewery through windows from the tasting room. Outside, there's a food truck (crepes when we visited - excellent!) and you can bring the food with you into the tasting room. Staff was very friendly. Oh, and their "Do What's Right" philosophy deserves extra kudos.

Maine Beer Company has quickly risen to become one of my favorite breweries in the country. Their flagship beer is Peeper Ale and it's an amazingly hoppy, delicious treat but lest not forget their other ones as well such as Mo (pale ale), Zoe (amber ale), King Titus (porter), Mean Old Tom (stout), Lunch (ipa), Weez (ipa) and a few others including a few pilots and collaborations. Each one of their beer is carefuly crafted for taste, balance and they pretty much knock it out of the park with each release.
As a matter of fact, a lot of their beers like Lunch, Weez and even Mo are considered to be world-class beers by many and are hard to keep on the shelves for many stores. Most of them are meant to be consumed very fresh as hops don't do well with age and the only exception to the rule would be their Mean Old Tom stout. A lot (most if not al) of the ingredients and hops they use are grown locally and they even contribute 1% of their sales to various environmental groups.
And as if their beer wasn't impressive enough, their tasting room was incredible. Outstanding even. It looks and feels brand new and seats about 15-20 people. It's not all that big but it's very well designed and features a large bar where they have eight of their beers on tap. You can get samples or pints of each of their taps or you can do the 'All In' for $18 which will get you 2 sample trays, of four sample each which will cover all eight of their taps. We did just that, and it was great for sharing and ended up being more than plenty for the both of us.
The staff is very friendly and the place is spotless - best of all you can pickup just about any of their beers on bottle there, for a bit cheaper than you can in retail. Their flagship Peeper Ale goes for $5 a bottle there, and any other beer is $6. Needless to say that I definitely packed a box of 12 bottles... They also carry various merchandise items including shirts, glassware, etc...
I was very impressed, and as a fan of their beer, this visit was well worth it. I will be back in the future as well. It was also neat being able to peer into the brewery downstairs from the tap room. Everything is just so immaculate, it's impressive, especially considering that it's two brothers who run the show.

I stopped to check this place out after having it highly recommended. It was a Sunday afternoon and very crowded. Beer is served in 5 oz and 10 oz glassed and pitchers. Many of the patrons were getting flights of from 4 to 10 or more 5 oz glasses. There were about 6 choices on tap and many others in bottles. I tried a lighter ale, an amber ale and a coffee stout. I enjoyed the beer, especially the stout but I don't rate it quite as highly as some other reviewers. All in all,it's a good stop and I'd definitely go again. Just don't expect too much.

We saw the Maine Beer Company on our way into Freeport and stopped for a cold one (one of their dark varieties) and then purchased a couple of bottles to go as we heard our dinner spot - Harraseeket Lunch $ Lobster - didn't serve alcohol but you are free to bring your own. So we did - the Maine Beer Company products paired well with the Harraseeket lobster. Delicious.

We love to stop at Maine Beer Company while traveling Rt. 1 into Maine from Massachusetts. They have about eight great beers on tap (good variety, too), some brewery-only releases, and usually a food truck outside for snacks. There isn't a tour, but there's an up-close view of the brewery operations through a glass window.

Sell fresh beer by the bottle, try the Peeper Ale. Can also get tap beer and drink inside, sitting on casual picnic tables. So many choices of beer, all delicious! Fresh pretzels too!

Excellent place to try some really nice beer. The room where you can sample beer is clean and the staff are highly organized and know their beer. They are happy to answer questions about the differences between the beers and the place is impeccably clean. Already looking forward to going back and trying some beers we didn't try on this trip.

I went in to buy a half-dozen bottles of various IPAs and some merchandise for a gift and thought it was a good excuse to stay for lunch. I had a glass of their Black Barn Exclusive Caribbean Stout and a cheese pizza with onions and roasted red peppers. Everything was great, including the service and atmosphere.

We went to the Maine Beer Company on a Saturday evening and the tasting room was pleasantly crowded allowing us to sit at a picnic table immediately. The room was really nice and everything about the atmosphere was good. The Maine Beer Company is known for outstanding craft beers and definitely delivered. What I did not expect was how inexpensive a 6 oz snifter was. Definitely a must visit to have a relaxing and reasonably priced tasting of some of Maine's finest craft beer.

Great selection of beer and nice people, both employees and customers.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back.

Love MBC beer selections....not one I do not like. Have been to the brewery twice. Small but cozy tasting room.

We were lucky enough to be staying in a Motel right opposite this place. Being real ale fans (no we don't wear anoraks) we decided to visit early evening as it does close at 7pm.
There was a good range of beers available ranging from light hoppy to dark malty beers.
If you like beer then I can recommend this place. Naturally they are served cold as is the American way and they are not proper real ales. But they are tasty.

Pizza was good. Very basic menu. Tried 4 beers sampler - good but hoppy. Yup - definitely IPAs. Strict on timing - came by to give us a 15 minute warning. When we first arrived they asked if we had a reservation, for lunch, on a weekday (?!).

I planned my brother's bachelor party around this brewery because it is his favorite beer. It was just what we expected. Great time. Great service. Great beer. All the beers are wonderful. All the beers are good, but you must try Lunch. Unfortunately, most people (especially those who live far away) will never get a chance to try Dinner.

in Freeport, Maine? So stopped by Maine Beer Company and got a flight of 8 for the 3 of us. From light to dark, hoppy to flowery to bland. Welcoming staff, inside/outside seating and they are expanding! Get what you taste on-site.

Maine Beer Co is definitely growing up. The expansion is going to be huge and they are going to be able to produce a ton of beer. I like Maine Beer Co but they focus primarily on IPA’s which is fine, they do it well - I just prefer other styles and hate to destroy my pallet after two beers. If you want something other than an IPA and they have Mean Old Tom on nitro... go for it! The nitro smooths out the stout and it’s delicious.
Stopped in today to pick up some “Dinner” since they didn’t sell out on release day (which was surprising)
Some people complain about Maine Beer Co being overpriced. If you buy directly from the source they are quite reasonable.
Definitely go if.... you love IPA’s

If you are a craft beer drinker then you must stop in here. The beers are absolutely amazing. We got the flight and tried them all.

Now we have another reason besides LL Bean to stop at Freeport on our way to Acadia. We must have hit a lull in traffic because the company's website and reservation policy led me to believe we'd be fighting crowds and lined up at the tap, but there weren't many patrons on the early July afternoon we visited, despite the beautifully sunny, warm day. Our covered outdoor seating was a picnic table beneath a large awning. We were disappointed in the limited lunch menu - basically pizza and salads - and somewhat surprised by the limited beer selection, but we like hoppy beers and we came to the right place because that's MBC's specialty. We sampled the 2 pale ales and 2 IPAs on tap, concluded all were somewhere between very good and exceptional - and even the wood-fired pizza was above average. It's a very efficient operation, clearly set up to accommodate larger crowds than we experienced.

The tasting Room in Freeport is awesome. As well as getting a glimpse inside the brewery, you sample delicious Maine beer Company beers and buy some to take home. Maine Beer company makes delicious beers and every single one of them in a winner.
They have ample seating and even a little section that can accommodate little ones.
Go to Maine Beer Company if you like great beer!

Love the vibe in this brewery. They’re environmentally friendly, treat their employees great, and importantly, they have great, hoppy beer. Clean + super green; a must have if you’re in the Freeport area.

After spending time shopping in Freeport, I was thirsty. We stopped at the Maine Beer Company for drink. Nice place with friendly people. Nice selection of beers. Very socially responsible company.

My husband and I stopped by the Maine Beer Company before our shopping trip to Freeport. The tasting room is bright, clean with sleek furnishings. The staff was very laid back, friendly and knowledgeable about each beer we asked about. We chose eight beers to sample. There were four lighter beers and four dark beers to sample. We enjoyed all four of the lighter beers with Peeper and A Tiny Little Something being our favorites. We tried the darker beers, but preferred the lighter ones.

This is the place for IPA's. I recognize that, even though I'm not an IPA fan. I like stouts, brown ales, and pilsners. There was great beer for me too, albeit a smaller selection. We went with a group, including children, for an early lunch. It's a good spot. Plenty of room for children to run around, not to mention very good wood-fired pizza and salads. A warm pretzel with outstanding mustard spread is a good appetizer. I highly recommend this for a light lunch. Go early and avoid the the crowds.

Tried the “peeper” beer. 5oz for $2.50 and $5 for 10oz. Vegetable pizza for $16. We have a wood fired pizza oven at home and can cook a pizza in 1 minute. Service here was slow. Guys are friendly but in no hurry to make the made to order pizzas- guess they want you to stay and drink more beer. It was okay/good but not spectacular. Same for the beer. It was nice outside as the weather was perfect.

True that their offerings do tend to be hoppy, but they also have some good pale ales and the porter is outstanding IMO. Great staff and a nice place to sit and enjoy good beer. Buy a bottle while you are there.

I absolutely love this brewery and it is my favorite that I have every been. Not only do I love all of their beers, but their business model is to be admired. They are very aware of the world around them and give 1% of their earnings to environment charities. The employees's tips also go to environmental charities. They have solar panels set up all around the grounds as well. I love how all the beers have names that are meaningful and they have a story. The pizza here is also quite delicious. I highly recommend this brewery!!

MBC is a marvelous brewery, fueled with heart and making superb product. It's a pleasure and an honor to be there and to interact with their staff. Be prepared, however, for a giant cavernous LOUD LOUD room with nowhere to hide from the volume (the outdoor patio hosts music acts and special events).
This extends to the fact that if you order a pizza, you will not hear your phone alert (text) when it's ready for pickup, no matter how loud your phone is set. Check your phone from time to time. There is zero effort made to make this space anything but loud, white and large.

An awesome, Eco-friendly spot, with even more awesome, palate-friendly beer.
We came to the the brewery because we were already fans of their beer and we left even bigger fans. Great selection of beers to sample and some really nice space to enjoy them, the staff was great as well. We stocked up to take home, can't wait to come back some day.

We really enjoyed our trip to Maine Beer Company. We got 2 trays with all 8 samples and bought a bunch of bottles to take home. The food available was so great - italian sandwiches and pretzels. Really fine beer.

Outstanding IPA. 'Lunch' (IPA) is quite good, and we were lucky enough to be there the week after 'dinner' (double IPA) was released. Dinner was delicious. The other beers were quite interesting as well and they really have a beer for everyone with good selection of rotating taps. Fun tap room. Some snacks for purchase. A nice stop in southern coastal Maine.

Their tagline is "do what's right". From the huge solar panels to the composting and donations they seem to really deliver on that promise. We stopped by the day after a Dinner release. We would have loved to go to the release but couldn't get tickets online (although have huge respect for the way they handle the release tickets online so their customers don't have to wait for hours only to be disappointed). We arrived a few minutes before the tasting room opened and it filled up quickly. We were lucky to get a table because it's a small spot. Every beer I've had from them is delicious, including the Dinner we got to try on tap. We bought some merchandise and bottles to go. Tipped extra because they donate it all. And can't beat the delicious pretzels! We'll be back for sure!!

Spotted this gem while driving up Highway 1 towards Acadia National Park. Outdoor seating with beer, sunny and 72 degrees outside..just lovely. Only reason I had to give it a 4 was that 10 oz pours were $5, whereas normally I expect a pint for $5 when I am at the brewery. Also the beer was good, not great.
On the upside they seem to be very environmentally aware given there huge solar panels....that was pretty cool. Oh and I did not eat one, but the giant pretzels looked delicious.

We loved this place. The beer was fantastic and the atmosphere pretty great. Loved their choice of music. They have a wood fired pizza truck outside with plenty of picnic tables to sit at. We wish they were closer to us because they would be our go to place for great beer. Love that their tips go to charity. They were serving giant pretzels. i didn't have one but they looked amazing.

This was our second visit to Maine Beer Company in a fairly short period of time. Once again we enjoyed it thoroughly.
The first time, we were seated upstairs, which is more pleasant than downstairs, where we were today. You do not get a choice of tables; they are assigned to your reservation. Our upstairs visit was quiet; today the music was loud enough to make conversation difficult.
Each day they offer about a dozen of their beers. There was almost no overlap between the list on our two visits. The first one was more varied; today most were IPAs which I am less fond of. Still, all their products are high quality. They no longer offer a tasting flight. You purchase beers in one of three sizes of glasses, which works fine, and each time we all tasted what everyone had ordered.
This time we had their meal, which was outstanding, though the menu is very limited. Basically, there are five kinds of pizza, two very creative and three very traditional. We had the one with peaches and nduja, which was outstanding; our friends ordered the pepperoni one, which looked excellent and they enjoyed very much. The pizzas are a little pricy ($21-22) but the salad ($12) is a bargain, and easily served four. It has just about anything you could put in a salad aside from tomatoes, with a good dressing.
I recommend this visit enthusiastically. The beer is outstanding and the food, as they undoubtedly planned, goes well with it.

My wife and I met up at the Maine Beer House with friends we hadn't seen in over 40 years. Super ambience for a casual family dinner.
The food was fantastic! The caprese salad was a solidly great dish. We also had a few pizzas and some beer samplers. Everything was very tasty, complemented with a small group of musicians playing some bluegrass music. Coming from the mountains of Virginia, this was like being back home with the plus of seeing one of our oldest friends. A great choice of places to dine...
A must do, this eatery and brewery is top tier!!

Beautiful building, efficient ordering process and good food. The building is lovely, we were seated immediately upon entering and our pizza was delivered about 15 minutes after ordering. The beer is exceptional! We wished we lived closer so we could visit weekly!!

Great place to visit in Freeport if you like drinking some of the best beer ever. They brew several high rated beers. Lunch and Dinner (beer names) are great. Good for the kids too. They have root beer and soft pretzels too.

MBC offers fantastic beer. I'd tried some of their beers which are distributed in Whole Foods and probably a few other grocery stores and always found the quality of the product excellent.
Set in a simple tasting room overlooking the fermentation tanks, the setting is great. Would be nice if MBC offered some food options like a cheese plate or olives but otherwise if you're a beer lover this place is for you!

Outstanding beer and service. Choices were plentiful. Didn't eat, but wish we did. The food coming out looked amazing. The space itself is well laid out and looked like a great space for an event. We'll be back.

This place has garnered quite a bit of popularity in the last couple years and it won't disappoint. A fantastic selection, great beers, and excellent flatbread.

We make an annual trip to Boothbay Harbor and always stop in Freeport. As we were driving down the road we saw a "Fresh Beer" sign and proceeded to make a u-turn. Well worth it!
Great selection of beer. Ranging from IPA to stout like.
These guys are doing it right!

MBC does it right. Period. Incredible selection of beer and the atmosphere is very chill. If you can get Dinner all the better.

Been a few years since we were here last, and wow, has this place ever grown! And for the better.
We had reservations-a must these days. Really enjoyed the pizza, it was delicious. But the best part was having 'Lunch' fresh on tap!!
Our seats were upstairs-bathrooms are downstairs,( there are some on the 2nd floor but they weren't open). So when you go down to order beer/food, visit the toilets first if you have the need, as it's kind of hard to carry your beer into the bathroom...just saying.
Staff is friendly and efficient, and the swag shop has some amazing merchandise.

The brewery is a beautiful facility with a great outdoor space to enjoy a drink or pizza from their oven. We got a flight to sample some of their beer, which was enjoyable but a bit strong for our liking. We were a bit disappointed that it closed at 8pm on a Saturday, but overall it was nice way to spend an hour while visiting Freeport.

When we pulled into our hotel for one night in Freeport, Maine I was pretty tired. But something caught my eye. It was a sign for Maine Beer Company. Our Travel Lodge hotel was directly next door.
It was fate.
I checked their hours and saw they would be closing in an hour. We were only there for one night so this would really be my only opportunity to visit.
I checked into the room and then walked over.
There is seating outside the door where you can enjoy the weather, which is fantastic in the summer. The tap room inside isn't huge but has several tables. You can look through a window and see into the brewery where people are working. Very cool.
I looked over their selection on the board and chose a flight of 4 beers. Service was very friendly and fast.
All 4 were excellent. I had Lunch, Pilot 7, Weez, and Zoe. My favorite was Weez. Very interesting hoppy black ale. Lunch was a very good IPA. Pilot 7 was a hoppy lager. A pilot test batch I'm guessing. Zoe was a close second for me. A hoppy amber ale.
I wish I could have stayed longer but there just wasn't time. I did pick up a cool hat to bring home and bought a bottle to bring home.
Any craft beer fan should try and make it to Maine Beer Company if they are in the area.
They also are very committed to being good neighbors to the area and helping the environment. Lots of solar panels.
Their motto is Do What's Right. I think they are onto something. I would certainly go back over and over if I was a local. A great business to support.
There was a crepe cart located in the parking lot. I don't know if they are always open but they were open on the Saturday I was there.

Small place, but Excellent beer. Visited multiple breweries during our Maine trip and this one was the best. Worth the stop if you are a beer fan.

My boyfriend and I stopped here for a tasting after shopping all day in Freeport. We went with the "All In" as well. We sampled 8 beers, 5 oz. each, for $18. We also picked up some popcorn to snack on while we were there. We would have also liked to have a paper that explained each beer at our table.

If you are someone who loves craft beer, this is one place to visit before you die. The best in craft beer. The selection of beers is absolutely amazing. So far, my favorites are the IPA's. Lunch is as always the favorite. I also love Mo, Another One and peeper. I went with a friend and we took the 8 beer sampler (5 oz each). Please give yourself enough time to drink and recover from it.
The sampler was awesome. It started with peeper, which is an american ale and then worked our way all the way up to Zoe, which the amber ale. Along the way, the tasting included Pilot 10, which is a lager, Thank you, which is an American Wheat, Mo, another one of my favorite Ale's, Beer II, which is Session IPA and then things started getting serious with the more stronger IPA's like Another One and Lunch.
What a selection. Oh and do not forget to buy cases of the beers you like or mix and match the beers you like in the open cases. The price at the store is much cheaper than what you get out in the liquor store and also there is no restriction on how many you can pick. In the liquor store, you get to pick just 1 bottle (max limit / customer), but if you love Lunch, pick as many cases of it as possible at the store.
After the beer tasting, make sure you visit the pizza shop open right outside the building (in the same campus), and try (if possible) all of their pizza's. This pizza is the best I have ever had in my life. The pizza was soooo good. We had the Salty Tomato and the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. We only ordered the salty tomato and my friend said, let's get the buffalo chicken (which was a special yesterday), and if we dont finish, let's bring it home. I said ok and it was gone in 5 mins.
I just absolutely love this place. I think I will have to make this a yearly trip at a minimum. It will take me 2 hours to get there from home.

Ever since I opened my first lunch in 2013, I dreamed of visiting the brewery. 12 years later finally fulfilled! We loved the Peeper besides lunch, the other ales rather pale. We ate a pizza with salsiccia and pepperoni and a salad with feta and pistachios in the tasting room, both good. With the salad, it was positively noticeable that the valuable parts were not only applied as topping performantly, but also sufficiently mixed and enhanced deeper layers of salad. Very fair. Thus not only show with excl. Green stuff. The location is reasonable for a brewery, relatively technically cool but airy, Service is very good. Even though in New England, in terms of crafts, Trillium (Boston) and Bissel Bros. (Portland) to be hyped - lunch remains as a modern classic “Best IPA in Maine”.

Maine Beer Company makes amazing beer and their brewery is certainly worth a visit. Nice selection of bottles and cases of beer for sale. They were even stocked well with "Lunch" the day we visited. Really nice selection of shirts, hats and glasses. Decent amount of seating indoor and outside. Food was available. Parking was tight with their construction going on. Overall, very enjoyable visit.

Went with a couple of friends, no reservations. Dog friendly at the patio area. Amazing pizza, and yummy pretzels. The beer was really good too, friendly staff and super clean bathrooms.

We were here in April 2025.
It is a brewery with a good lounge where you can taste any of its varieties and also have an oven in which they make pizzas.
We had 2 beers for $17

I was in the area for a week this was by far my most favorite brewery in Maine. Small compared to others in the state but what they lack in size they make up in taste.

Maine Beer makes all their beer on the premises (and uses a lot of green technology). You can see the set up from the tasting room. There are several tables to sit and enjoy your beer, which they offer by the pint or by the flight, but it is a busy spot so be prepared to stand. The beer is awesome. At least a 4/5 for the 4 I sampled. I had a flight of 4 5 oz beer for $10; it's not cheap, but neither is the quality. They have a nice variety-ales, IPAs, stouts etc. If you like craft beer, stopping in here is a must.

We drove down US 1 and saw their solar pnels. They actually provide half of their own electricity with solar pnels. We had a full sampler of all their 10 beers currently on tap. Not a bad one among them. Peeper was my favorite. Got a few to the home to Scranton. Do what's right.

We stopped here for the first time on a recommendation to try the beer, and were not disappointed. We were told that the beer tends to be hoppier, and that was certainly the case. While we aren't necessary huge fans of hoppy beer, we did the sampler of all 8 beers, so we were able to taste them all regardless and were able to find some that we really enjoyed. They all tasted very fresh and clean so to speak. The tasting room space is certainly nothing to write home about, but really all you need is a place to try the beer. Another reviewer pointed out that the employees were not unfriendly, but not overly enthusiastic, and I would agree with that assessment. But that can certainly be overlooked, as this is a worthwhile stop to taste some local brews.

Maine Beer Company is such a charming find in Freeport. They did a great job following social distancing guidelines and taking COVID precautions. The staff were kind and attentive. They make their own wood fired pizza right on the premises! SO yummy. Also, the beer is delicious. “Lunch” is one of the best IPA’s I’ve ever had! “Mean Old Tom” is also a winner if you’re into stouts. There is an outdoor tent available so you can enjoy brews even on rainy days! Definitely would go back!

Great beer and food. Very kind and cheerful staff. You can tell everyone likes working there. Great space. Will definitely stop again when back in town!

This is a must visit brewery if you are in Freeport. Without a doubt, one of the best breweries on the East Coast. If you try all 8 samples, get ready for a lot of beer! Well known for their delicious IPA's. If you're hungry, the pizza served outside is AMAZING

A great stop for craft beer lovers. We personally like hoppy brews and they have a really good variety to choose from. I was going to try one or two, but the flight offered ample opportunity to try all and at a very fair price. It was after a long day of visiting the area that we stopped in, so we were also hungry. They don't offer food, but out in the picnic table area where we could sit and enjoy our beer, there's a Wood-fired Pizza vendor - how convenient - and really good pizza too!! Loved the Mo and Beer II - both IPA's. Our bartender was one of the best I've ever had at a brewery - he was very patient with our many questions, and very helpful in suggestions. Gratuity is accepted only in the form of putting your tip toward one of 4 or 5 causes. A must visit - thank you for quenching our thirst at the end of the day, Maine Beer Co!

This is GREAT beer. It's hard to find where I live, so I stopped by the tasting room ready to drop $100 bucks on beer. I left after a $2.50 sample, and, I'm sorry to say, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I've become so accustomed to warm friendly informative people in the craft beer business, it was a real surprise to run into someone who could barely be bothered to wait on us. Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe she's just sick of the tourists at the end of the season. But that's really no excuse. I'll buy the beer locally when I can find it, but I don't think I'll be going back to the tasting room.

Three of the four members of my family on the trip are beer lovers, and we heard that MBC had some good brews. We made a mid-afternoon stop to check it out.
I forget what it was called, but we got what many of the other guests that afternoon ordered, a flight of all eight beers on tap. As our palette-cleanser, we got one of the giant pretzels.
All of the beers were good. We each had our favorites. I was a little disappointed that six of the eight were IPAs. These aren't my top choices when buying beer for myself, but I still liked all six of them.
Where the environmental type of family, so we were pleased to see the giant solar panel that powers at least part of their operation.
While the beer was good, we weren't going to buy a lot of it to take with us. These are some of the most expensive beers I've seen. The flight was a great way to taste them, but a six pack to go would have been more than I wanted to spend.
I absolutely recommend this as a stop for anyone who enjoys sampling local beers.

Came seeking dinner food when other nearby venues were closed with staff shortages. Arrived shortly before closing on a weekday, was able to get an outdoors table. Had the house salad, which was surprisingly good. Got bottled pints for gifts and to sample later. "Lunch" IPA was excellent.

Great little brewery on Route 1 in Freeport advertises when it has freshly brewed beer. Many interesting varieties. No preservatives. Cant be beat.

Phenomenal beers, great food, amazing space! Such a great company! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Word to the wise for traveling visitors though, you can Uber there from downtown Portland with little issue, but you cannot easily get back! It’s about 20 minutes outside the city, busses don’t run frequently if at all, Ubers are not likely to come outside the city and cabs are unreliable. Strongly recommend renting a car via Turo if you’re going to make the journey. I assure you it’s well worth it though!

This was a quick stop on the long drive for dinner and a sample or two ... 2 shared a 4 sample paddle (5oz each). The menu had many IPAs which aren't typically my favorite, but LUNCH was really very good. The stone fire pizza outside was delicious. It's clearly a popular spot locally as about 30 bicyclists pulled in after we sat down to finish their rides. I would visit again, when in the area.

Stopped in to try local brews. Nice selection for me as I prefer pale ales. & IPA,s. My wife had a tough time deciding on flight as she likes Stouts & lighter beers. She was able to choose her flight & was pretty happy with them. The IPA,s offered were delicious. I would recommend to anyone in area to stop in & sample.

We visited Maine Beer and decided that the "All In" tasting flight was the way to go. We had plenty of time and why not try all the beer after making the trip.
Our flight consisted of 8 beers: Peeper. Pilot 10. B1. MO. A1. Lunch. Zoe. Tom. Some we liked better than others but not one to dislike out of the 8. I would say Pilot 10 was exceptional and unfortunately unavailable anywhere except on tap at the brewery. We are told that if it is successful then they will bottle it.
Okay, it is our opinion that it is successful so bottle away.
I'm am very picky about my darker beers and was skeptical of the two available at Maine Beer, Zoe and Tom. They may be dark but to our surprise and pleasure both were exceptional drinking beers that go down much lighter than they appear. "Lunch" the most well known of the Maine Beer Co. selections did not disappoint. I will say that Pilot 10 if produced and bottled will give Lunch a good run.
If traveling a distance bring a cooler. You are going to want to buy bottles at the brewery that you won't find anywhere else. There's a Shaw's Supermarket around the corner where you can buy ice on the way out.
If in the area don't miss this brewery. If not in the area then plan a trip. There are quite a few other breweries not far you can get to as well to round out the tour.
These are beers and craft brewers that make an art out of brewing. You want to taste these beers so don't pack them in all at once.
Plan your trip accordingly and drink responsibly.
Enjoy!

great beers and a great tasting room! Has picnic tables out side where you can sip your beers and bring your dog! If you want a bite they also had a food truck!

Friends from Boston recommended we try Maine Beer. They weren't wrong. They recommended Lunch so we started with a glass of that. We then decided to try the flight of 8. Every beer was delicious. Even the IPA'S and dark beers were smooth with very little bitterness. We will seek out Maine Beer on future trips to the east

We were in Portland on a brew weekend and hubby had to try this beer. About a 20-30 min trip outside Portland, but if you are a beer person, a must try...lots to sample.
My only complaint, and its just not my style I suppose, its very plain..very sterile looking, different from the breweries I have been to.

My husband wanted to go here for some lunch. It was smaller than I thought it would be but had a cozy atmosphere. I enjoyed sampling the beer from the beer flight and cheese pizza was pretty good. My son also enjoyed the pizza. I saw other families bring their young children for lunch. This is a place I'd like to visit again.

A must stop for any beer lover! What a clean and environmentally friendly brewery! And all the tips go to local charities:) The freshest beer you will ever have! We stopped on our way to ANP and pick up 2 cases of vacation beers (1 case lunch and the other was mixed) and then stopped on the way back to airport to pick up beers to take home. Definitely want to spend more time in Freeport the next time we go to Maine!

Some of the best beers in Maine! Dinner, Lunch and Peeper are my favorites... Weekends are a zoo. The facility is awesome and cannot wait for the expansion to open and free up some space. Great job!

We loved this place! They have a great variety of beers but Mean Old Tom was the best! We'd definitely go again if we're in the area. Wish it was closer.

We arrived with no reservation and we were promptly seated. Great brew’s and brick oven pizza was delicious!

Up here for the weekend and heard great things.
Got an 8 beer sampler and a wood fired pizza. Beer is as good as everyone says.
Excellent spot to put on the must visit list.

This place spared nothing when it came to looks inside and it shows. From the metal tree fountain to the large wood-fired pizza oven to the maple wood tables to the extravagant bathrooms.
Yes, it is wondrous to the eye. I have never seen a 6" wide, 6-ft long solid maple plank used to state a beer choice for each offering.
But I found the beers to be nothing special. Lots of a IPA's which everyone makes. The one dark beer was a collaboration with other breweries and just okay.
The beer-tenders were cute but not very knowledgeable or talkative. They didn't even know what hops were used.

No table servive but good quickly delivered when ordered from the bar. Pizza delicious charcuterie board especially good. Staff wasn’t as knowledge about the beer as expected perhaps I asked the wrong person.

We went here tonight as it was highly recommended by our innkeeper. Hubby got a beer, and we also ordered a pizza. While the pizza top was delicious, the bottom of the pizza was very dark/charred. What a disappointment that was!

A wide selection of beer. Nice tap room. They offer some local farm fresh products to eat while you enjoy your pint. A nice plus. A good view of the brewery with large windows from the tap room. It seems like the staff was preoccupied with other things than the customers. Did not seem to want to answer questions about the beer and the history of the brewery.

It had been awhile since visiting MBC and was excited to see the new, expanded tasting room. If you arrived too late in the previous tasting room, there was no room to park, standing room, waiting in line for a beer. This new place addressed all of the previous issues. Enjoyed a King Titus and also a sample of their current Black Barn series. Had a great conversation with one of their quality supervisors. I appreciated the time spent.

Staying at the EconoLodge next door and being a homebrewer, a short walk across the parking lot to the Maine Beer Co was in order. The brew staff was very friendly, the beer was good/fresh and the tasting room nice. During my visit, I discussed brewing will a couple employees who began as homebrewers. I took notes, aided by their flip chart on the bar and discussing each beer with an employee. Sadly, they don't have a kitchen, but will have pizza toward the end of May. Their planned expansion is being constructed now and will enable them to increase their beer output several times the present capacity-that is a good thing. Great group of employees and I would recommend this be an obligatory stop on any beer lover's trip

Besides great beer, the atmosphere was great, really lively with lots of people buying their cases of the new release.
My wife and I sat on the front patio drinking beer and enjoying sushi from the Mr. Tuna
food truck.
Big building expansion going on. Not sure what it is but it must be good news.

We stopped in on our way through Freeport and we're glad we did. The people there were very nice, and the beers were good. My favorites were the Mo and the Peeper, but I also liked the stout they had.
They had a very responsive staff: There were three bartenders, and that is more than plenty for a place that size. With three bar tenders on a Sunday, though, I wish that they had wiped down the tables. Our table was dirty when we got there as well as the one next to it.
The beers were good. This place is set up so it's easy to sample all of the beers. You can order a flight of five or the "all in," which was all the beers they had on tap (eight). A lot of them were hoppy, which is the in thing right now. I don't have a very sophisticated palatte, but it seemed like the hop flavors were all very similar across the eight beers we sampled.

I have enjoyed Maine Beer at several local restaurants and had watched the expansion on our regular trips through Freeport so I was excited to stop in. We were heading to a BYOB place for a lobster dinner. I was looking for a beer to take. We were greeted by a staff member as we entered who directed us to the bar where Spencer helped me select a beer. We had 6 to 8 tastes and picked a beer with hints of grapefruit. We picked up a few bottles and a selection of other beers.
Note that the staff does not accept tips because they receive a living wage! That kind of corporate ethos makes the beer that much more tasty.

Not a great value, quality, atmosphere or attitude. We’ve had much better experiences at other local breweries. Few options for food. $7 pretzel was stale. Most beer choices were IPAs, which are not our favorite. We sampled four others, of which 3 lacked body and robust flavor. We found them weak and watery. The hostess could not have been less interested in seating us. The staff laughed and chatted with each other and ignored the customers. We aren’t fussy, but we are craft beer enthusiasts. We won’t be back.

What a great brewery! Very clean, lots of seating, great beer, great staff, great pizza. Very family friendly. We would definitely go back.

Very clean immaculate brewery. Spacious and very well run. Darts upstairs if so inclined for sport. Refrigerators fully stocked.

Great beer bar with rotating taps, great flights, and a very personable staff. They now have giant pretzels! Don't forget to pick up some beers to go.

Our second visit this year, they have some great beers. I'm not a fan of some but most of them I like a lot. My favorite is Lunch but A Tiny Beautiful Something and Another One are also very good.

I got there a little late (around 7:20 while it closed at 8 pm) but still got a warm welcome. Did get a flight and a couple more beers and got to meet 2 amazing staff members there with whom I actually endend up having dinner. Thank you again so much for everything guys btw!

The beer flights are fun and well-priced. A few snacks are sold on-site and a crepe truck was parked out front on the day we visited. We spent about an hour sampling beer and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon.

The beers are amazing, staff super friendly and did I mention the beer is amazing? As a craft brewery / (D)IPA guy, place was awesome. Fiancé who doesn't love hoppy beers still found more than a few to enjoy. If your in the Portland area of Maine, make the 20 minute drive!

I have been to A LOT of breweries and this is definitely in my top 3 of all time. The place is breathtaking. Absolutely stunning interior. Beer is excellent, pizza is excellent, super family friendly, everyone was super helpful with great service. We will be adjusting future trips so we can go here.

I cannot day enough good things about Maine Beer Company. It is, without a doubt, the best looking brewery I’ve ever seen, and its Dinner IPA is the best beer I’ve ever had. I live about three hours away from Freeport, but I’ve made trips just to come here. If you like good beer and you find yourself anywhere near Freeport, you should definitely stop in. You won’t be disappointed!

While in Freeport we visited this brewery. We are from upstate NY where the breweries are friendly and will fill your growler for you. This place was neither. The beer was ok but they certainly were not receptive and would not fill a growler, you had to buy their bottled beer. I would pass this place by next time .

This is a great place for all ages. It is a delight to see families there enjoying a pizza and beer after the little league games while playing games up in the loft or hanging outside. The beer is fantastic- no need to say more. The addition of the pizza oven has made it perfect. The surroundings are a bit sterile and white but yet offer some hominess with picnic tables and the lovely tree statue. It is one of our favorite places to take friends when they visit.

The beer is very good and the location is very good. The pizza is nice also. Pass on the popcorn. When I was there, there were 8 beers on tap, and a small selection of bottles. There was not an option for flights, though I see they do that sometimes (maybe non-pandemic times?)

I have been about 10 breweries in the past couple years. I LOVE maine beer company's beers I think they are very well made for a decent price. I was at the tasting room the other day with my wife and we had a good time. The tasting room is small and there isnt much to do besides drink but other than that we enjoyed ourselves. I am unsure if I would go back if I was up there again but if I did it would only to buy some of their beers.
They really also do not have any food and should consider this

The new Maine Beer brewery is a definite must if in the Freeport area. It's right off of 295 and on Route 1 in an almost church-like building that's easy to spot. The taproom is immaculate, from the squeaky clean tables to the awesomely handcrafted tap handles (I wish they would sell those little guys). A flight of four 5 oz beers is $10, and the owners kid will write the names on the tray with chalk if she's there - her artwork adorns the back of the bar as well. Was lucky to try a test batch of saison, a collaboration with a Norwegian brewery, and the highly-lauded Lunch IPA which were all delicious. They sell bottles to take home, but no growlers unfortunately. This is definitely worth the trip and without a doubt one of the best breweries in New England.

Often come here especially when we have visitors from overseas. What a place and what super great beers. Friendly staff. Today I really enjoyed Zoe and Fall. The charcuterie board is expensive but excellent presentation and variety. Thank you.

We stopped here for some drinks before dinner. The beer was great! I loved the games that were available as well. The only thing that would've made it better was if there was food ( more than a pretzel or popcorn). We went during a snow storm so it wasn't too busy while we were there. Definitely a must if you're in Freeport and a beer lover!

Great beer and great pizza. Made a quick stop for lunch while traveling....this was one of the best ones.

It's a nice building with beer. If you like your beer with lots of hops (think: IPA), this is your place. Tried four different beers and they all tasted like IPA's. A real disappointment.
Is it better than Bud? Yes. Does the Kölsch taste like an IPA? Yes. Does the pale ale taste like an IPA? Yes. Does the Pilsner taste like an IPA? Also yes. Does the IPA taste like an IPA? No. It was more of an imperial IPA. Bottom line is their brewmaster likes a lot of hops and the correct flavor profiles of other styles of beer are completely lost.
Didn't try the pizza, but lots of other people were, so assume it was pretty good. Parking lot was pretty full.
Gritty's just down the road has better beer. There is also a new place up near the Shaws that might be decent but didn't try it.

This was a great stop on our way to lunch. If we didn't have lunch plans he would've eaten at the awesome pizza truck outside. The brewery had great many beer choices and served uniquely. It's a tiny tasting room with a great atmosphere. The hot pretzels are a great accompaniment to the beers. I highly recommend this if you are a beer lover.

This brewery does have a good story line from using 50% solar power to giving 1% GROSS revenue to environmental charity. Given that the founders are brothers with the same first name as my brother and I, just added to the experience.
Beer is definitely an individual opinion based experience. We tried the full sampler pack (8 beers in 5 oz. glasses). While we enjoyed a few (peeper, lunch), several were too citrusy to our taste and the stout had too much of a coffee/chocolate taste and aroma to our taste (not saying that others would not enjoy it). All in all, we had a good time and very pleasant experience.

If you love great, fresh beer and excellent pizza, this is a 'must do' destination.
We ate outside with our terrier at one if the many picnic tables under their large tent.
The service was personable, even while taking all the necessary precautions against
covid, so that you feel very safe.
We love the Maine Beer Company's beers, especially 'Lunch.' But the pizza was also outstanding. We had a soppressata and olive pizza. Highly recommended!

Aside from the great beer ( they now serve wine) delicious pizza and really fresh salad, Maine Beer has done a phenomenal job of setting up their outside tables to comply with the new COVID protocols. They have widely separated tables, enforce mask wearing when not seated and separate paths to walk in and out of the open seating area. They are constantly cleaning and sanitizing.
Best outdoor dining experience I’ve had so far.

Yeah, they brew excellent beer, and that's the main attraction for most visitors. (You can get a 5-ounce glass of draft for $3.50, if you just want a small taste.) But the pizza, wow! I'm really particular about my pizza, having been born and raised in New York City. So it shocks me to say that Maine Beer Company serves some of the brick-oven best pizza on the planet. We split a Margherita pizza with sausage, and it was out of this world. Wonderful toppings and a perfect crust. If you love pizza and don't go here, you're missing out big time.

They have a great selection of brews, on tap or in bottles. Pretzels are available as well as wood fired pizza. Take time to go!

Great beer, nice tasting room, friendly folks across the bar and a nice place to have a cold one with friends.

We drove out to Freeport (20 minutes) from Portland and glad we did. We tried their sampler of eight beers and purchased half a dozen bottles to take home. I'm not sure of the local laws but this place would benefit by having food service or at least a food truck to boost the atmosphere but I can find no fault with the beer.

Maine Beer Co. in Freeport, ME is not your typical notion of a brewery in warehouse! This is a spectacular beer hall! Even if there is a line at the door, please wait as the hosts will get you in quickly whether you are eating or just there for a beverage. Truly looks like an IKEA & Tesla collaboration!
My wife and I dropped by on a cool but sunny Sunday afternoon to try a sample of brews! I ordered us a flight of 4 (~$12) 5 oz. pours. Many of the selections are IPAs, but even for the faint palates there are tame IPAs, pilsners and porters!
All were excellent beers stand alone, but would pair well with food!
Be sure to pay a visit!

The food is wonderful (as is the beer!) and the atmosphere is casual and fun. Highly recommend any of the wood fired pizzas, house salad, and honestly anything on tap (but am very partial to Dinner and A Tiny Beautiful Something.)

Highly recommend visiting Maine Beer Company when in Portland or Freeport!! All the staff is friendly and accommodating. We went to get a couple beers and get lunch, and ended up doing a 4 beer tasting which I loved. The meal portions are generous! We got the mortadella sandwich and the veggie sandwich, both of which were fantastic. May avoid if you don't like spicy, but we enjoyed it immensely!! Getting there, parking, seating, eating, everything was easy.

Beer we tasted was really good. When we arrived they put our name on a list for reservation for beer and food. After waiting one hour they gave us a menu and directed us to our table. No one said anything to us about needing to go back to the bar and wait in line again in order to place an order for our food. Very disappointed in the the quality of the service we received from the check in and from people walking around the tables. Until we finally stopped someone, we thought someone was going to come to our table and take it order. Needs to be better organized and informative to those of us visiting. Or recommendation is to order you something to eat at the bar and go outside and eat then there is no table waiting

We are so fortunate to have so many good breweries so close by here on the coast. This is by far one of our favorite locations. We love the fair business model, the service and the ambience. Usually bring friends there from out of town for some beer and pretzels. The show stopper is the pretzel by far. Yes, the pizzas is great yes, yes the beer is phenomenal, yes the pretzel is great but the start of the show is the mustard. We just cannot get enough of it. Do yourself a favor when you're there and buy a pretzel and taken over to the pizza oven for them to really get it nice and heart maybe even a little charry (if you like it that way).

Located in Freeport, ME near the giant L.L. Bean headquarters, Maine Beer Company boasts what I consider probably the best quality beer of the breweries in the area. Offering a $10 flight of four or $18 for a flight of eight, this brewery is pretty no-nonsense when it comes to naming their beers (e.g. Four of their beers are called Beer I, Beer II, Beer III, and Beer IV). While the $18 may seem a little steep, their pours are very generous and the beers are very strong, so you’ll be feeling nice and good by the end of it.

Could be one of the finest Brewery/Tap Rooms we have ever been to. And we have been to some of the best in Massachusetts and Vermont. This place is spotless, full of friendly staff, and has a nice variety of locally brewed beer with some good food options. Not a massive list, but inclusive, just the same. Will come back often

The tasting room itself could be better, but the beer is as good as you will find anywhere. I drive 9 hours just for a chance to spend an afternoon with their awesome offerings.

Great atmosphere with fun music and games available. Beer was great. There is a wide variety of flavors. We tried everything there in a few different flights and there was not a single beer I would not order again.

My husband bought a Maine Beer Company beer at a small beer shop in the Hudson Valley where we live. Since we were in Freeport we decided to check out the brewery.
Great tasting room with full glass walls looking down on the beer making facilities.
We shared a flight of four beers. Loved them all. Very different, clean flavors, great noses.
We went home with a case and a couple tshirts.
I agree with other reviewers that some light snacks would be great. A bag of popcorn isn't all that filling. They have a couple cheeses but no crackers (that I could see.)

Being big fans of Maine Brewing Co, this was the first stop on our Maine brewery tours. I was impressed and pleasantly surprised by the feel and decor of the tap room, which felt fresh and clean. We enjoyed our tasting very much, as all the beer was fantastic...and purchased a lot of Dinner for the road. The pizza on-site, an attempt at a more artisan-style pizza, was only 'okay. Overall the place has a nice feel to hang out with friends.

These guys know how to make beer! They recently moved to Freeport so took a road trip from Portland to visit their tasting room. They had all of their beers on tap and 2 "pilot" beers that I've never had - tried both and they were of the same excellent quality as all of their other offerings. A special treat the day I was there was meeting Kjetil from Nogne O brewery - he was in town for the Portland Beer Festival and going to collaborate on a beer with MBC! If you love beer, make the trip to Freeport to the Maine Beer Company...they rule!!

After listening to a craft beer podcast with the owners of MBC, we HAD to go there immediately. So, we did! We planned our Memorial Day trip with MBC being the highlight. It did not disappoint!
I knew the beer would be great, but it was even better coming from the source. The pizza was excellent; I've had many pizzas made at breweries but this ranks among the best. I had the sausage and onion pizza and ate every last bite of it.
Also to note, there are two hotels within walking distance of MBC. If you are a responsible drinker, you may want to consider booking one of them. We stayed at the Econo Lodge next door and it was just a three minute walk to the brewery. In fact, our room overlooked the brewery and we could smell them brewing in the morning!
Maine Beer Company has heart and it worthy of support. Come for a great time, excellent food, and refreshing brews!

If you are in the area and love microbreweries this is a MUST stop. I forget their names but the pale ale is bomb. Same for the Porter, Stout & IPA. We live in San Diego and have some well known microbrews, Saint Archer, Alesmith, Ballast Point, Karl Strauss & this beer is of this high quality.
To make it even better it was right down the road on Highway 1 from our hotel. If you are going to the outlet stores its close. Bad news is they don't serve food.

Enjoyed pizza outdoors at a picnic table. Group enjoyed several different types of pizza, some of which were quite unique. Other couple also had beer, which they enjoyed. “Lunch” is a particular favorite.
Indoor and outdoor dining available for pizza. Dogs welcome on outdoor patio.

This place is huge. Has a large fountain in the dining room. Bathrooms are clean. Staff was nice. We ordered beer and a margarita pizza. I have never had one that they put salt on the pizza. I am a pizza snob, and this was the best. Wish they could deliver to IL!

Called in here on way back from Freeport with friends & kids.
We did the beer flight tasting menu which was fun.
Didn’t eat as we’d had brunch not long before but the pizzas looked amazing!
Lovely outdoor seating area and great bar indoors

The bestest Beer I have ever enjoyed. Great staff plus the pretzels ore out of this world! . Come to the Maine Beer Co. with a good time on your mind.

Each beer is as delicious as the next. The stout and Mo were standouts, but Lunch and Dinner still do it for me. Pretty good pretzel and the pizza looks awesome. I will go out of my way to grab a few beers here.

This was a very fun stop. Beer was great and a very fun crowd on a Friday evening. We stopped for some tastings and chatted with several locals.

Go ahead! Choose four tastings from a broad variety of different beers in a "flight." The Maine Beer Company is a bit pretentious, and more-than-necessarily expensive. Nevertheless, worth a visit.

I've sampled a few of their beers, and they are great. My favorite, however is King Titus Stout! This is a very nice tasting room for beer . Don't expect something more!! You will not, however, be disappointed!

We always enjoy coming here, especially my son whose favorite craft beer is Maine Beer Company's Lunch. He had a flight of mostly IPAs and I had a fancy tequila cocktail. Service here is always great (and their pizza is really good!).

There are 10 or 12 craft beers on offer - non of which are less than 5.5%. I left my wife in the car, partly because it was pouring rain, partly she enjoys reading her kindle whenever possible and also because she really wasn't wanting a beer at this time.
I ordered a flight of 4 for $10 - Red Wheelbarrow; Arrogant - as this review does not accept profanity - the other part of this beer is someone that is born out of wedlock ! ( I just had to have that one); Pilot 7 and Mo. They were all bursting with flavour and strong ! So I decided that since the rain had stopped I'd go get Deb from the car to see if she'd help me finish them. She didn't need a second to make up her mind and happily came in and helped me finish them.
A warning though be careful you don't have too many samples if you are driving as they are all stronger than your average beer !

Great spot if you are heading up to the Freeport outlets and a fan of amazing craft beer. Their IPA offerings are the best in Maine. Some people may complain about pricing but I don't find it to be that off-putting for a 8 beer flight for $18. You can also do single glasses with various pour sizes that are roughly bar prices but the quality is much better than you find elsewhere. Its nice to be able to do some tasting/drinking and buy bottles for takeout as well.

Oven cooked pizza was very good, staff attentive to us. Selection was good & service was fast. I liked the atmosphere.

This brewery is amazing! Delicious pizza and awesome brews!! Our favorite is the “Dinner” IPA and the stout. We visited twice in our 5 day trip to Maine!

Was very excited to taste the beer but the host at the entrance was very negative and rigid not letting us sit outside with out young kid. They don’t seem to be following covid protocol very well at all. Regardless, the attitude was horrible.

Great ambience with some great beers. Sad they didn't have one that I really liked bottled to go. We didn't try any of the food. Bonus: they have a mini-print vending machine.

So, I’ll be honest that this is not a style of beer I enjoy. That being said, I could still tell it was quality, and my husband loved it. They have a pizza oven outside with great pizza, and had n/a drinks and space outside for kids to run around.

Was a "must stop" place while in Maine. Had to stock up on good beer. Love the tap room. Was packed, as usual but had delicious beer and chatted with other patrons.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant/tasting room, great beer, and our pizza and salad were super tasty. Also appreciate their philanthropy efforts and happy to support a company whose motto is “do what’s right.” Definitely worth a stop.

This is by far my favorite brewery in New England. The beer is amazing, the staff is super friendly and there is such a fun vibe inside and on the "patio". Dinner on tap...outstanding!!

As a local, their beer does not really seem as great as many say. Even around Maine there are many better ones - see Bissell Brothers, Foundation, Bunker, etc.
The price for an individual bottle is way too high. Hopefully when their massive expansion is completed they will can and be more reasonable.

We stopped in to try Maine Beer Co. because so many people raved about it. They do have great beers (we got a flight and loved them all) however, the only snacks available were sweet. Pretzels, chips, regular popcorn...anything salty would be better with your beers than caramel corn or kettle corn. The website said there were snacks so we didn't eat before getting there. Next time, we'd bring something or eat prior to arriving.

We arrived July second at 4:48 PM... At 5:03 PM we were told the last pour was at 5:00 PM. If the bartender had been paying attention; he would have noticed we had been waiting for 15 minutes. You just lost loyal customers who have been waiting for the opportunity to visit for the first time. Further more, why would a business whose product is draft beer close at 5:00 PM on a holiday weekend? It's a bold management strategy if your goal is Chapter 11...

Stopped in for a look-see after it came highly recommended. 8 beers on tap...and as their website says, all of them hoppy--even ones not traditionally so. For me---I personally hate hoppy beer--I would say Meh. The Thank You wheat was tasty....but also tasted hoppy. Blech from me. But the rest of the group thought it was fantastic. 3 IPAs, a couple of Pale Ales--and all pretty dang good. They were thrilled and said they'd definitely come back again. One local in our group (a hop fan) says he hasn't met a beer here he didn't like. So if you're into hoppy flavors, plan to come. There is a wood-fire pizza truck on site but the brewery does not sell food. We brought sandwiches and ate outside.

Its great beer served without pretense. Toured the brewery, itself. It was immaculate. You could eat off the floor. I like "hoppy" beer. Love "Peepers. If you like beer, a "must" stop.

Without hesitation I would recommend this facility for the best food around. We had a pizza and veggie sandwich along with the house salad and had food to take home - the portions are huge and the quality of ingredients is superb.

Maine Beer Company has a beautiful facility just south of Freeport. We had such high hopes but we were very disappointed. The beer was average and slightly warm. The bartenders and staff were rather rude and condescending. We don’t stay very long due to the dog fight on the patio and the hoards of ill mannered children running amok throughout the entire place. We won’t even get into what we discovered in the men’s restroom. . .

Stopped by the tasting room to sample some beers. The room is an open space with long tables and games set about for the customers to enjoy. The tasting of all 8 beers is reasonable and served on a neat chalkboard tray where the server writes the name of each beer, Fun! They do have a few snacks to buy and a food truck out front.

We come up to Maine two or three times every summer to fish and always make a stop here. I rarely see their beer, especially Lunch, in New Jersey. Its hard to believe, our very first trip to the Maine Beer Company, they were located in an industrial park in Portland. Anyway, the place in Freeport is green, roomy, and friendly. The beer? Come on, anyone who has tried it knows it is world class.

My husband enjoys Maine beer, so we stopped during our trip to Freeport. We were not disappointed. Unlike several other breweries we have visited, there weren't prescribed limits on the amount of beer you could purchase to take home and there were tastings everyday. We each enjoyed a flight of 4 beers and bought beer to bring home with us. Very friendly staff (who donate 100% of tips received there), quick service and plenty of parking. Very happy we went!

After a hard day of shopping at the outlets up there we stopped in for some beer. The full tasting of all 8 on tap was excellent. The staff was knowable and suggested the order to taste the beer in. I don't think that they make a bad beer.

I have sampled craft beers from the Majestic coast of Oregon to the take your breath away beauty of Key West. The Maine Beer Company brews magic. The true test of a beer is its finish- those precious moments after u have swallowed a few mouthfuls . The finish is mellow and smooth- soothing to the palate.
We arrived on a mid week night- pouring rain 30 minutes to closing- my wife and I were greeted with warmth , enthusiasm, and a cold beer in 10 seconds.
What a greeting!! We had a blast! Thaddeus, Gabe , were great hosts. We returned the next afternoon, stocked up on cases of , Lunch, Tiny , and Mo and hit the road smiling !!
Visit Maine Beer Company!!! Your Quest for perfection has ended!

Fabulous indoor outdoor tasting room-often have a food truck outside-inside are some rather interesting but very good pretzels. This brewery is trying hard to be "as green" as they can be. The beers are awesome. Maybe the most popular around town is LUNCH but they are all great like PEEPER. They all have interesting names and are for the most part New England style hazy IPA's. Brilliant!

My mother and I stopped in for a beer as the brewery was located close to our hotel. What a great stroke of luck. We were so impressed. They are a company with a conscience with 1% of profits (I think) going to charity as well as the server's tips. They have a beautiful setup. Beer is good. You can buy a soft pretzel or wood-fired pizza if you're needed a bite to eat. I'm sure there's other food as well. We highly recommend this place.

Stayed over Night In Freeport and our hotel was not great. it was an Econo lodge. But it happened to be right next to this brewery. It was amazing. We had a flight of 8 to try. The people working there were friendly and helpful. Also we talked with some of the customers and had some nice chats while we tasted them. Highly recommend it.

We loved it and would go back in a heartbeat. It’s a really cool place with a laid back vibe. The pizza is good, and the beer is fantastic. We thought the staff was really helpful and friendly.

They have around 6 beers on tap. They also have beers to go. They have wood fire pizza outside. The pizza is decent.

Oh my goodness is this pizza to die for! We were visiting Maine for 5 days and ending up eating here twice because the pizza is so good! My husband loved the beers as well!

Stopped in before heading up the coast. They were flexible about letting me try some tastes of what they had available in bottles beyond the samples I'd ordered, which I appreciated. It's unique beer, but they have a enough that there's something for everyone and their passion comes through in the product, their service, and the space.

Maine Beer Company is our favorite! All of their beer is so tasty and delicious! How do they do it?! We shared an All-In sampler. They had a wood-fired pizza oven truck outside and it looked delicious, but we had just eaten lunch. We stopped again on the way home, hoping to try the pizza, but the pizza truck wasn't there... too bad. The beer was still great!

Great place to visit, particularly on a rainy afternoon.
Excellent beers and the pizza was to die for.
Can’t wait to visit again

A new brewery in Freeport, I dropped in to sample their brew. The staff offered me a few samples so I could choose some of their beer. I was able to find a couple. Their Zoe Amber ale was excellent. Their store was well laid out and nice and clean. A good choice for local craft beer.

We spent the day checking out some of the Maine brewery's. We enjoyed the environment. We both ordered single beers rather than the flight. It's interesting that you can watch the beer being made.
There is a nice outdoor area with a pizza food truck.
Tips? Tips are accepted but they are actually donated to one of 4 local nonprofit organizations. Pretty cool.

We stopped in for lunch on Sunday before Memorial Day. I cannot say enough good things about this brewery - AND I DON’T EVEN DRINK BEER! But, my husband does. We stopped in after visiting LLBean and outlet area of Freeport.
Here, you (or your party) are actually seated at a table either on the main floor or upstairs. Then, you go to the counter to order your beer, and food, if you want it.
They have an in house pizza oven with several types of 12” pizzas, and they also have a house salad, as well as some snacks to pair with your beer.
My husband’s flight of 4 beers was $12. We also got the mushroom and fontina cheese pizza and the house salad.
While we waited for the food to arrive we noticed:
How clean the entire facility was, from where they brew the beer, to where they serve the beer, to the pizza kitchen, to the gift shop.
The staff were continuously cleaning tables, including sweeping the floor underneath after every party left, as well as disinfecting the tables and the benches after each party left.
They actually don’t allow customers into the pizza ‘show kitchen’ area, for cleanliness reasons, I’m sure.
100% of the staff were wearing masks the entire time.
We could not have been more impressed with their cleanliness standards.
(Also, They do offer soft drinks for non beer drinkers.)
In addition, their food is terrific! The pizza and salad were served at the same time. The pizza was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The salad was vey large (probably could have been split by 3 people instead of just two) made with very fresh greens and had a really nice, light dressing. We got ours with the pistachios on the side. Also, you do not have one server for your table. All servers work all areas. And, customers pick up their own beer selections when they order.
There were a lot of people who just came in to buy beer by the bottle to go. (They may only sell by the bottle, not by the can). And, their food is also available to go.
Finally, they note on their menu, tipping is not required. If you choose to donate something above your final total, they donate those amounts to non profits. Which must mean they pay their staff a decent hourly wage, so they are not reliant on tips.
We were completely impressed by this company. They seem to feature mostly IPA’s.
But, I would encourage even non-beer drinkers to stop in for the food!
We will be back - this week!!
Well done Maine Beer Co.!!

Well this was a nice little surprise. I am not usually a beer drinker but my son-in-law suggested that we stop in and take a peak. It was a warm day and the way this works is you go inside select the beer you'd like to sample and sit at a table and relax and enjoy the taste of different flavors of beer. They serve it up in sampler glasses and you might try two, three or as I saw, eight different flavors. Different but if you like beer, this is a stop not to miss.

This was such a cool brewery! So much story in it and delicious beer and pizza! They are all about treating employees well and helping the environment. Just go!

Since we were staying right next door at the Econo Lodge, this was a nobrainer. We walked over from the hotel on a Sunday afternoon. The taproom wasn't too crowded and we easily got a table. Since we had never been there we tried a flight of eight beers, and I can't decide which I liked more. They were all delicious, and available by the bottle or the case. You could watch the brewing operation through a glass window in the taproom. With a large solar array in the parking lot, and expansion under way, you can tell they are doing well. Friendly staff and a great place for families to come hang out with a stack of games to play.

This was the best brewery stop during out trip. The beer was all very good. The tasting room was set up right. The entire facility appeared to be set up right. And they appear to be running the business right and reducing waste and energy as much as possible.

When in Freeport Maine(this is a must) you need to eat and drink at The Maine Beer Company.Let's keep it simple.....Great Soft Pretzels and Dip......Great Pizza.....And...Some of the best craft beer in Maine.........WELL............What are you waiting for............LETS GO...................

I stopped in to get a trucker hat for my NH son who's a big fan of the Maine Beer Company, especially their Lunch IPA. While I was there, I tried two of their limited edition Black Barn Program beers -- the black ale and and nitro Irish stout -- and they were really good. Gotta try their wood-fired pizza one of these days!

My husband & brother-in-law are craft beer connoisseurs. I recently accompanied my husband to Maine for his second Dinner release, and this time, *I* got in line so that we could get not one, but two cases of a beer that is a creme de la creme. Getting up at 230 in the morning was not fun at all, but we got on line more than early enough to secure getting two cases of dinner. I must say, the ID checking and ticket-giving process for the Dinner release is so well done in an efficient and friendly manner. The door opened at 7am as advertised, the line moved quickly. We were even able to get several other beers that are more commonly produced than Dinner - and my husband got a t-shirt and beer glass, as well. We were out the door right around 730am to make our trip back to NJ. Beer isn't personally my thing, but I was glad to see that Maine Beer Company knows what efficiency and friendliness is all about.

Everyone loves this place (and everyone comes here!!). I love the vibes, the beer, and the food trucks. This place is awesome.

Everything was great until they came up to my table and said "We have a reservation at this table in 15 minutes but no rush." Ummm. Sounds to me like "get out". I've come to this brewery for 10 years and even have the Maine Beer Co logo tatooed on my ankle because of how awesome the beer was and how awesome the company was. WAS being the operative word here. It is now all mainstream and not special at all. Will not be back and will not be ordering Maine Beer when I am out anymore. Sad that such an incredible place has turned into this. Luckily for them it's tourist based and not geared for locals.

The delicious beers, generous pours, and comfortable/airy atmosphere really made Maine Beer Co. stand out. A little pricey for a tasting room, but the beer is worth it. Try "Lunch," you won't be disappointed!

Love visiting the Maine Beer Company, if only to get some dinner and lunch. A must visit if you're in that area!

Loved this place for lunch. We got the pablano pizza a lunch beer. Both were delicious. Loved the location, that they are green, and all tips go to help the environment.
Great smell of brewing beer as well.

We were staying across the street at the Holiday Inn express and stopped in for a flight. We were fortunate they had a porter and a Stout on tap but unfortunately not available for purchase. Indoor and outdoor seating. Pretzels available. Take the time to read the information about their contributions to various nonprofit organizations.

This makes a great stop on Route 1 as you make your way into the town of Freeport. They are doing a huge expansion due to the popularity of their beers - some so popular they only sell by lottery. Love the huge tasty pretzels as well. Looks like this place is filled with enthusiastic beer drinkers all the time.

If you like and understand what great beer is, this is the place. Sure, there are other great breweries in Maine, but in my opinion, Maine Beer Company is the best. Everyone of their brews are top notch. This operation is serious about brewing beer. My only disappointment is that they were brewing Dinner when we were there and would not be available until late August. Being from PA, guess I will never get to try their best brew.

We stopped in during an extremely rainy afternoon and, despite encountering a line when we first arrived and having no reservation, we were seated right away. The brewery is immaculately clean and beautifully appointed. It was very easy to set up a tab and our order came to our table in a matter of minutes. The food menu is limited, but what snacks we ordered were excellent. We did wish we could order flights so we could have tasted more varieties of beer and tours aren’t available, which made it feel less like a brewery and more like a very large, high-capacity bar. A great experience though.

... if you're in the Freeport area. This brewery sits a breath off US 1 and I-295. If you like craft beer, take the time to visit. They have indoor and exterior seating, and the brewery is fitting for a postcard (despite the well intentioned solar panels).
Samples are $2.50 each and pints are $6-$7. They don't have a menu but do offer pretzels to reset a proper tasting. They also have a good stock of their mainline brews in essentially pint sized bottles.
They don't have tours, but servers are chatty if you start a conversation.
Check their Beer Advocate ratings - that doesn't necessarily mean anything, but they consistently score better than the vast majority of breweries. Good stuff. (Lunch recommended).

Stopped here after a day of shopping in Freeport. Lots of choices for flavor, comfortable seating, great beer.

Another top rated US and Maine Brewery worth a visit
Due to its high popularity, I recommend making a reservation on line before you go, so you are assured a table at the time you want.
It is a modern facility that makes a variety of wonderful beers. The only food is fresh wood fired pizza. But what better food to go with beer.
I had a sampler of all 10 variety of their beers and liked their "Lunch" IPA the most.
I also have high praise for their "Peeper" Pale Ale and "Fall" Stout
Their best known for their "Dinner" double IPA
If you like beer you will love Main Beer Company and if you love beer - This is
a place to enjoy some of the best in the USA.

Had lunch here on a Tuesday at around noon and it was surprisingly busy. They take COVID precautions seriously, and I think that is wonderful.
We were seated inside and informed of social distance order. The only food that was even remotely appetizing on the menu was the pizza. Ordered a pizza Margherita. The beer is a different story as they only have about seven or eight beers to choose from.
I think I ordered what was referred to as the Peeper, and it was delicious. I really, really wish this place offered beer flights or maybe a beer flight trio as paying $9 a pint can be a good or bad whereas ordering a flight can incline you to buy more beer. I actually wanted a pint glass, but the woman who suddenly replaced the guy at cashier only seemed concerned with cashing me out rather then ringing up a souvenir pint glass.
Overall a great time, with super tasty beer, however I wish the menu had a more hearty selection and that they offered beer flights.

Maine Beer Co. has been producing excellent beers for a while, but their new (2013) brewery and tasting room finally gives them the venue they deserve. The brewery is immaculate and the tasting room is comfortable, clean and outfitted with 8 taps of some of the best beers made in the great State of Maine. The "Lunch" IPA is a must-try, but nearly as good are "Another One", the elusive "Dinner" and "A Tiny Beautiful Something". Pours are generous 5 oz. and pints are also available along with cold bottles to take home. It's hard to understate the importance of freshness to their beers, and this is as fresh as it gets.

Loved The Brewery And The Staff Was Great And The Beers Was AMAZING.... My favorite of the beers was the Dinner both on tap and in bottles

Love all the beer they brew here. It's a great place to meet friends for a drink as well. Great environment!

You only have to try any of the beers on tap or in bottles and you instantly know that the people who made it are very good at what they do. Not only is the tasting room well laid out with options to try flights of beers but small tastes at no charge are dispensed with the same smile. Let me repeat myself in different words, if you anywhere within driving distance of Freeport Maine then your taste buds will thank you when a glass of "Another One" or "Beer II" slides past them on a refreshing trip. The beer is great and the folks here support the environment as well. I know in the the next few days (probably Saturday) I will be there buying another "Another One" or 6.

Friends told us to go here for dinner. It's a bit intimidating to drive up to in the dark and we struggled to find the entrance but once inside, it was wonderful!
Do know that's big and spread out and has lots of stairs. My mom was with me and she has some mobility issues but she plowed through and it was worth it.
We were greeted by a super friendly host who told us all the ropes and directed us to the bar to order. The employee there was really helpful as I described my favorite beer and she recommended based on that. Lunch and Second Dinner were both fantastic - I only wish Second Dinner had been available to purchase to go.
We ordered pizzas and salads. Both were generously sized and we COULD have split them but had no trouble enjoying it all.
I was so impressed by the company's mission printed on the wall. They seem to really care well for their staff - generous pay, benefits, etc. If I'm ever back in the area, I will for sure return.
It's very loud so be prepared for that if you have older people with you.

Locals had been telling me I needed to drive out to Maine Beer Company (MBC) for a visit and I'm glad I took their advice. While it's a little bit of a drive from Portland vs some of the other breweries, the drive is beautiful and the destination is worth it.
The venue looks brand new or very recently renovated. It has a modern farm-house style with tall ceilings, indoor/outdoor beer gardens and a large pizza oven. This is definitely a place to bring a group to wow your beer-snob friends or anyone who wants a good pic on their socials.
The menu is pretty limited, but the wood-fired pizza was good. It's all about having a reason to wash something down with another refreshing and tasty MBC beer!

If you like beer and you live within a 300 mile radius... well you just have to go to the Maine Beer Company. Beautiful new addition to the original building. Serves food... wood fired pizza... salads..
Clean and inviting. Don’t miss out
Good Beer!!!
We went twice, first time couldn't find parking, went back in a hour.Very clean inside, people very friendly!! place to sit and enjoy different kinds of beer. Food truck outside, privately owed.
Wait for pizza 1 hour!!! We passed.
