We came on a weekday afternoon. Lots of people here but never felt crowded. Great exhibits -- and there were manatees floating about. They are lovely.

By CuriousCasey |

The manatees come near this facility when the waters are cool as they like to warm themselves in the heated water released from the power plant. But even if there are no manatees in the lagoon when you visit, there is plenty of info on manatees to educate yourself, and the views of the intercoastal are worth the outing.

By ClatonF |

The power plant next door have done a wonderful job taking advantage of their location and the fact that the manatees venture close by during the colder months. It is a beautiful facility with a welcoming feel to it. The staff inside have a really affinity with what they do and try to share their joy with everyone who visits. There is an environmental message but it isn’t too heavy handed. Also there are some manatees. Stop by at 2pm for the free tour

Manatee Lagoon is a great spot to usually see Manatees, othere fish, turtles. Free parking and admission. There usually is a conservation person to a ser any questions. The only caveat is the Manatees are only around when weather gets cooler - December on.

We come to the West Palm Beach area often but just recently learned about this place and decided to check it out. We were very impressed with this attraction and both my 7 and 12 year old enjoyed it. There are a variety of educacional exhibits and many are interactive. There were no manatees, but we knew that going in since I had looked at their website in advance. I was hoping we could at least see a few fishes but the water wasn’t very clear on the day we went. I’d be nice if they had a window on a ground floor for underwater views. The views of the intracoastal alone from the two decks are worth the stop, especially since this is a free attraction. The gift shop has a great variety of items and some really cute manatee gifts. We bought a few souvenirs, snow cones and ice cream and found the prices very reasonable. They also offer activities for kids and even yoga lessons! The place is handicap accessible. Overall, the manatee lagoon is worth the stop and I hope we can return during the winter to see the manatees.

By Leah C |

The place is free which is nice and can be a good place to see wildlife. We didn’t see any manatees the day we were there but will return one day to look!

By Autumn M |

We went and saw one manatee for one second. I was told they there are a lot once it is colder. The place is pretty to walk around. I will definitely go back.

We had a really lovely afternoon at the Manatee Lagoon in West Palm Beach. We attended a free talk, which was really informative and well presented. There are also educational displays throughout the centre and an excellent gift shop, where you can get your own soft toy manatee, which is very cute. Although it was nearly the end of manatee season, we were lucky enough to see one swim past from the observation area. We would highly recommend this free facility for a relaxing and informative couple of hours.

By DonnaS |

I thought this place was amazing! You learn so much about manatees and because we were here in January and the water is cold, you do see more than usual. Had a great time! Parking is free. There is a jar for a donation which we gladly gave (cmon, it’s $5) but if you don’t have it, you are not forced to pay.
Well worth going! Enjoyed it very much!!

By mnsnwbd |

Facility is super clean, new, and you definitely will see manatees if you are here for more than 30 minutes. Has small educational area and gift shop. Clean bathrooms and elevator to second floor balcony. We were just tickled to see 8 manatees our first visit and came back a second time. Admission is FREE. Allow about 45-60 minutes.

By tylerterranova |

It's free to go and it's a great time. They do not feed the manatees so there is no guarantee that they will be there, but if they are, it's well worth the visit. Gift shop has some cute items too.

By 86dmp |

We arrived here not long before closing time. As we walked from parking lot, the guide blew her whistle & announced loudly "Manatee Sighting!" We hurried around to viewing area & got to see one of these enormous creatures. Awesome, especially when we heard none had been in all day until that point. About 10 minutes later a calf & mom slowly swam in.
Educational center was very good too!

This hidden treasure is located right next to the power plant and the mantees come in for the warm water. There is a small informational museum with facts and information about Manatees. It closes at 4 so wer were not able to take full advantafe of its offerings. But the key is to wait on the concrete deck which surrounds the building and wait for the manatees to arrive. At the outset, we were really disppointed because a previous day's storm had filled the observation area with seaweed and debris. But just when we were about to give up, one big manatee decided to join us and give us a good look at him. Wish we had seem more. Just remember, go early go you can enjoy the informational center and be patient. Good parking, but the entrance is tricky to find. It's a small, narrow entrance and we missed it even though the driver had been there before. Not sure about entrance fees because we were so late they just let us in!

The overall size of this facility really impressed me - there is so much room for parking, even an overflow area. Nice park as well, where you can get views of Lake Worth. The day we went there were no manatees to be seen - there is a board in the building that provides information on daily sightings - and online there is streaming video of potential manatee locations in the lagoon. What seems to be most important is the weather forecast - and, unlike most Floridians, you should hope for colder weather, which encourages the manatees to spend time in the artificial lagoon, close to the warmer waters that come out of the FPL building. So, even without the manatees showing up, there are very impressive exhibits indoors, knowledgeable staff, large gift shop, and a full schedule of tours and activities.

This place is beautiful and educational. There were no manatees while we were there. But we still had a great time.

By JoReese5 |

We visited this amazing place with family friends. It is beyond beautiful! Kids ages 8,6,4,5 loved it! They made smashed coins, bought gifts in the gift shop and loved seeing the manatees. I think this place is beyond wonderful for all ages! It is totally worth the trip! Free parking and free admission!

By Kat S |

Came here while visiting family in FL. We were lucky, there were 2 manatees plus a calf. We also saw numerous types of fish and some bull sharks. A great educational center and gift shop.

By J J |

First things first, this is a power plant - not a zoo and it is free. They offer programs for children (check their event calendar for times & prices) and educational exhibits for everyone. We travel here a few times a year to support the lagoon and to relax for a few hours while hoping to catch a glimpse of a curious sea cow.

BRING POLARIZED SUNGLASSES! There are lots of fish that hang out near the viewing area, year round.

If you live close or are passing near this place it is totally worth a stop. You are never guaranteed to see Manatees. They come here because the water is warm. There is a gorgeous viewing deck with plenty of space to walk around.

You don't have to spend a lot of time here, maybe 15-30 minutes, great place to stretch your legs after a long drive. The gift shop has cold drinks, ice cream, and everything you can imagine with a manatee on it.

There is plenty of parking, and no smoking on campus.

For the lady complaining "She only saw one manatee and it was underwater" thank you for the very long laughing fit. Manatees don't come out of the water... and as for crowded? You were there for the same reason everyone else is, to observe the manatees. The world doesn't revolve around you! To rate this place 2 stars based on your ignorance is, well, ignorant.

By tracey h |

We stopped by on our way home. There were 8-10 manatees including a youngster. The water was clear, and they were very close.

By Mark S |

Great Place to see things not seen everyday I love to walk around and read the captions and see pictures they have all around the Exhibit and a wonderful place to take your family everyone will have some thing to do and see...

By toombsdr |

This stop was an unexpected surprise. There were a lot of Manatees in the water and every view was good. Amazing how they come to this particular area. The park and facilities were super clean and well worth the visit.

By Denise H |

I've been here twice. The first time the weather wasn't very cold, so we only saw 3 swim by. We still enjoyed the information centre and read up on the manatees. The second time I went, we saw 50+. It's a very well done centre and wasn't at all invasive towards the manatees. The platforms for viewing were at a reasonable distance as to not disturb them but still close enough to watch these adorable creatures. I will go again!

By BucketListExpl0rer |

We came here to check out manatees and ended up seeing one peep out of the water a couple times. The inside of the building was informative. We did not stay very long as there was not much to see outside.

By Lisa E |

The information building had some fun manatee facts and signs to read. The lagoon is a hot or miss on seeing a manatee. We missed. But did see a cool iguana. It’s a good stop if you’re driving through but not really worth a large detour.

By Laurel E |

What a wonderful education center. They do a nice job of educating the public on manatees, as well as some other oceanic animals, and the need to care for our environment. I was fortunate and able to see some manatees, where they belong- in the wild! Such beautiful creatures and I'm glad I had the chance to stop here in between business appointments.

By Becky P |

This is a nice educational center, with a gift shop, and clean bathrooms. Love to stop in and see if we can see any manatees. Sometimes the water is dark and you only see them when they come up for air. But it is still fun to guess where they will come up next.

By Beth |

We were visiting in mid-March but the weather had been hotter then normal so the manatees were not around. The grounds were pretty and the displays interesting.
In the winter the outflow from the power station next door attracts the manatees. I’d try to see them again if I’m in the area again.

By Glenn M |

Although we didn't see any manatees, they had some great information regarding the manatee, what they eat, where they live, etc., along with other information regarding maritime fish and sea life. Check it out.

By Barbara C |

Stopped at the Manatee Lagoon on our way into West Palm and were very pleasantly surprised. This beautiful exhibit is run by Florida Power and Light and is free to the public. We were lucky to see a mom and her calf in the lagoon the afternoon we visited. The small museum is well done and very informative. The gift shop is well stocked with manatee trinkets, clothing, etc. and the prices are very fair. Thanks FPL for a top quality exhibit.

By dkparks21 |

What a beautiful facility they have built for the education of our manatees. It is very child friendly with lots of educational displays for children. However, we saw no manatees as we had one cold night and was told that we have to have 4 or 5 nights in a row for them to come! Saw lots of fish!

By Matt R |

Great free museum with a good chance to see manatees. They have a little inlet which warm water is pumped into from the power plant. Keeps that area 10-15° warmer for the manatees when the water temp drops. We saw 4 the day we went. The worker said the all time max was over 500!

By SHELBY R |

While it was too warm for manatees, we did see 4 baby sea turtles in the lagoon at the edge of their property. We missed the tour but one of the guides pointed out the turtles and was very excited for us to get to see them, as were we. We went down to the museum and learned a ton about manatees, whose baby's at birth can go up to 100 pounds in weight!

By Miranda |

We loved this place. Our uber driver recommended it and we got to see manitees, cool fish, and sharks!

By ruth4005 |

Very nice, free facility where you can see manatees and fish in the lagoon, as well as learn a lot about manatees and the environment in the area. You can spend an hour or just a few minutes and learn something. The tour was led by a well-versed grad student who answered questions and engaged the younger members of our small group.

By elisesy |

Watched these endangered manatees enjoy the warm water by the FPL plant. They are gentle giants and need to be safe from boaters, nets and garbage.

By Vicki P |

If you are looking for a meeting location with a great view, perfect audio/visual setup included in the rental fee, and a wonderful onsite event organizer - Whitney - this is the place for you. And since I've had the pleasure of organizing a meeting here twice this year, I can highly recommend the Joshua Catering for your F&B needs. Rental space is paid in advance using check (not credit card).Nice gift shop on property as well (accept credit cards). We didn't see manatee either time (April/October) but the storms rolling in/out were fun to watch.

By Angus Ogg |

Greta facility. The kids really enjoyed the inside fish tanks. We went out on the observation deck and were grated by a manatee. There are many different fish in the exhibit area too. f you can go from 2-3, the staff offers a free guided tour. Take time to take the kids here. A fun place

By cmrtraveler |

Nice, easy drive from Marriott resort area. The facility is only 4 years old. Very well kept and amazingly clean. Huge outdoor viewing area on main level and rooftop viewing as well. We only saw 2 manatees swimming nearby but they did not get real close. Inside had a small gift shop with pricey items where a percentage of sales go to facility. We did not buy anything but wanted to make a donation but there was no donation box. Museum area inside had lots of information and photos. Interactive phones for children to enjoy. We were there on a Saturday morning but they also offer workshops for children and daily narrated tours from 2:00-3:00 pm. Will definitely return again and hope to see more of these gentle creatures!

By NRoberts7 |

Beautiful facility that is free to the public. Free parking as well!
Go when the water is cold and there are usually numerous Manatees hanging out, keeping warm.

By Marissa T |

This is a fairly quick winter stop to see manatees. They gather around the power plant for warmth in the winter months, so the best time to catch them is when the temperature is chillier than usual. I love watching them swim slowly along and stick their little cow snouts above the water to take a breath.
There is a little museum/education center in the building, where you can learn more about these fascinating creatures. There’s also a little gift shop inside.

By Charles D |

Got good background information on Manatees from the exhibits. One Manatee was visible in the outdoor lagoon.

By Phyllis K |

The museum part of this spot is so informative and interactively educational that everyone can learn something about our habitats and waterways. While we only got a glimpse of the manatees, the deck and walking esplanade were beautiful.
The nearby power plant feeds warm water to the manatee pool creating a positive environment for them. We totally enjoyed our visit and highly recommended it. Parking is free.

By Lindsey Z |

We did both tours that they offer. The All about Manatees tour gave much of the same information as the inside exhibits. There were bonus artifacts that we could look at, but otherwise, the same info.

The conservation tour was outside and walked through each part of the dock/oceanfront. They identified fish and different water plants, and helped us find a manatee. If you wanted a tour, I would recommend this one.

Otherwise, it is much busier in the early winter months (December through January) because the manatees seek out the warm water of the power plant.

By marylizm47 |

We like to see Florida manatees when possible. This is a great facility, with the information provided, lovely gift shop & of course, the manatees! On a nice day, you could easily spend more than an hour here. And interesting to see the non-touristy area of Palm Beach.

By Becky W |

Educational and informative. Disappointed not to have an opportunity to see any manatees. Understand it’s too hot this time of year to see them as they head further north

By Love2Wander |

I brought my kids here in a beautiful sunny (albeit cooler) day. There were several manatees around (at least two dozen +). Plus on the shade side of the building were several fish (barracuda & a few other species--possibly sheep's head & angel fish). We also saw three nurse sharks swimming around on the bottom! A young green sea turtle was swimming around with the manatees too! The museum & parking are FREE! Lovely exhibit inside about the manatees. Must see when in WPM especially for those with kids & animal lovers!

By Carolyn Hodge-Armstrong |

Fantastic and it was free. It is set up like an educational interactional museum, It was great learned a lot. there is a deck off o the building where one overlook the lagoon for mamatees. Was able to see one. There is also a giftshop. One can spend an hour or hours there. As it is in the lagoon there are benches outside to sit and watch the boats go by. Beautiful.

By Seggs1 |

Very nice, relaxing visit. Best time to visit and see the manatees is when water gets cold and they come to the warm waters. Educational. FAU students take you around the exhibits and point out facts about the manatees and answer questions. There is also a gift shop and outdoor covered area where you could have lunch (you will need to bring it).
Free admission and parking.

By Greg W |

It was a cool 65° day, so we thought we might get to see a lot of Manatee. We did get to see a mother and her calf and one other Manatee. Fortunately, we didn’t have to drive far and there was no cost for this event. So, if it’s a cool day and you have some time to spare and you’re in the neighborhood this is worth stopping by. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to get here.

By Beverly W |

At Manatee Lagoon we enjoyed an unhurried view of a large group of manatees who were calmly swimming or resting in the warm waters of the lagoon. We also learned facts about what a lagoon is and how it's different from an inlet, how this facility came to be, and why manatees gather here. There are indoor exhibits as well as an upper and lower deck from which you have great views of the manatee. The grounds are lovely so you can take a stroll or relax on one of the benches while you enjoy the weather.

By Cathy B |

There were no manatees when we visited but still lots to see. From information about the local sea life to the many fish we saw swimming right outside the building.

Bright and sunny building with plenty of spots outside to sit / picnic and enjoy the view.

By RexFoga |

There are no guarantees you'll see a manatee or three, but when it's just right, they are there and they are so cool to watch. Even if the manatees don't come in, the indoor exhibits are very cool. All of this is free, so it's well worth a visit.

By islgrl2013 |

We were there on a somewhat chilly day and saw dozens of manatee. The information area is interesting and engaging, but the highlight of course are the animals.

By Keith K |

We have always wanted to see the Manatees and learn about them. This was an amazing tour and actually get to see them in there habitat. We also went on the tour inside where the lady explained there lives. The tour is free. Highly recommend this stop on vacation.

By craig c |

I stopped by here on a Saturday morning, a little early in the season to see any manatees. They are doing some construction and expanding the grounds a little. I walked around the building first to the backside where the manatees will congregate once it gets a little cooler. Spent some time watching the birds hanging out on the pilings of the old dock, before heading inside.

As you enter there are a couple of manatee skeletons to the left and a small gift shop to the right. I stopped and bought a magnet and a couple of postcards while passing through. After passing between those points proceed on back to the educational portion. There are displays, p[pictures and videos throughout the facility. Once the manatees start showing up, make your way to the second floor balcony for a great view from above, I assume.

By Lakeview5 |

Went here to see manatees and were not disappointed. Lots of information and viewing area. Lots of fish hanging out in the warmer water as well. Fun

By Dawn S |

We thought it was a place to see/experience Manatees but it isn't. The property/view of the bay is beautiful and very well maintained. The huge Banyan tree is neat.

By Greenvilledan |

Wonderful center, with great short educational presentation all about Manatees. The Manatees are attract to this location because of the warm water discharged from the adjacent power plant.

The center is attractive with good exhibitions.

By suemeserow |

Excellent exhibits and great gift shop. The manatees in the ocean were beautiful to watch. A must-see trip to observe these beautiful creatures.

By tymetraveler222 |

We only saw a couple of manatees, and not real clearly, but they're out there! The visitor center is really nice. They have a museum that covers the manatee, the environment, the waterways of S Florida. Very bright and cheerful inside. Lots of windows. A nice gift shop and clean bathrooms. Snack bar. Good parking lot. There are sidewalks that take you along the water front, and there are a few benches, and flowers. Definitely worth a visit, especially in winter. Free.

By Lynne F |

Very fun place to visit. We were lucky enough to see a mom and her baby.... they would come into the lagoon, stay for about 10/15 minutes and leave. Very informative and great for kids too. Plan on only spending 30-60 minutes there.

By Gina P |

Great for a quick stop! Definitely worth it since it was free. Saw about a dozen manatees and learned some things about them too.

By Beachcomb_33 |

I unfortunately did not see any Manatee during my visit. However the facility is very nice. Very informative display. Nice gift shop. Two story viewing area. Nice picnic area and walkway. I highly recommend stopping by and checking it out. It is free to visit, which is a plus. Hopefully, you will see some Manatee.

By mwhamburger |

there's a lot to be learned here about these marvelous creatures and under the right conditions you can see a lot of them. It's quite a building. Admission is free and so is parking. They have a lovely gift shop.

By Elizabeth M |

We spent an enjoyable time at the Manatee Lagoon in WPB with our son and grandson. It was wonderful to stand on the balconies and watch the manatees swimming below. Beautiful, graceful creatures. The exhibition is informative.

By juancguti |

Manatee Lagoon is a Excellent place to spend time and learn about nature.
Nice to go with kids and family.

By Resis |

I'm so impressed that Manatee Lagoon is free. The exhibits are very well done. The balconies for viewing into the water are very convenient (especially during the pandemic, when we want to limit our minutes indoors).

We did not see manatees when we visited during a warm week in late December, but saw plenty of fish in the rather clear water. Some of these fish were colorful, others were large. Binoculars helped.

Because we had checked the Manatee Lagoon's webcam that morning and the day before, we knew we were unlikely to see manatees during our visit. So we weren't that disappointed.

The next morning, we were lucky enough to see a group of manatees in the Snook Islands Natural Area in Lake Worth. Getting there shortly after sunrise may have made the difference, because manatees may seek warmer water near the shoreline when the weather is cooler.

By David B |

Awesome and informative exhibit. We were blessed to see many manatees and then being surprised to learn that they have fingernails. Yep. Just part of what you will learn from this exhibit. Very helpful people.

By Laura B |

This is a very nicely done Center with lots of good information about manatees as well as a tour that you must sign up for but it is free. Unfortunately, there were no manatees around the day I visited. Tour is very informative.

By PaulaTerese |

A free experience fun for all ages. There is information and educatinal displays on the first floor. Areas on both florrs to view the lagoon. We saw a stingray as well as manatees.

By brisworldtraveller |

We had a really lovely afternoon at the Manatee Lagoon in West Palm Beach. We attended a free talk, which was really informative and well presented. There are also educational displays throughout the centre and an excellent gift shop, where you can get your own soft toy manatee, which is very cute and all the staff there are really friendly and helpful. Although it was nearly the end of manatee season, we were lucky enough to see one swim past from the observation area. We would highly recommend this free facility for a relaxing and informative couple of hours.

By TheItineraryOfLife |

My fiancé and I went to Manatee Lagoon after returning from a short cruise to Grand Bahama. It was raining outside, but there were still manatees in the lagoon! Tiered standing areas outside and wide sidewalks made viewing easy. Very clean facility and grounds. Staff was helpful and courteous. If you’re a gift shop enthusiast, Manatee Lagoon has an excellent one!

By ronp97 |

Watch manatee congregate around the FPL power station when the weather is cool. Many fish also swimming around. Has lower and upper observation landings. Educational kiosks and gift shop for visitors. Many community functions as well.

By FoodBucketList |

We went with few expectations since the experience is listed as free. Our visit was the highlight to our weekend and we cannot wait to return during Manatee season. The park and surrounding area is beautiful. The facility itself is clean and there is quite a lot to see and learn. The educational talk was very informative and the young lady is a great speaker. While we did not see any live manatees, we enjoyed the afternoon.

Highly recommend for a relaxing (free) experience for all ages.

By Mindy B |

Coming from Colorado, I knew nothing about manatees before coming here. I enjoyed the free museum and video they show inside. Then I got to see fish, sharks, turtles and 3 manatees! It was awesome.

By Andy J |

Visited many times between November and March the peak times for viewing manatees.

Two things were consistent, there were never any manatees to be seen and the staff were consistently rude.

I appreciate that you cannot control nature but you can control your employees.

By Kim S |

Small place with interesting info. Take the free tour and support or Manatees. You are only there for about an hour and if you go in cool weather you will see lots of manatees.

By MorningStar1900 |

We stopped by on a fairly warm day (upper 70's) and did not get to see any Manatees, but that was to be expected. The information center is well done and the grounds are very nice, even a little picnic area is available. The view from the upper deck is great and the staff are all very helpful and are happily sharing their knowledge. Note that they are closed on Mondays!

By Gene E |

The lagoon attraction is up to the manatees. They come and go according to the water temp. The information inside is quite educational for the benefit of visitors as well as natives.

By SLG88 |

It's free, on the water, accompanied by a nice , quick, informative, and fun visitors' center, and we spotted the manatees multiple times. Good for all ages, from kids to seniors. Pro tip: although you'd think that spotting the manatees would be easier at ground (sea) level, go up floor to the observation deck up there and you can spot them easier and more often. Also, look for bubbles, flat spots in the water (made by their tail currents) or long dark blobs. Be a little patient.

By banannie711 |

We saw 2-3 manatees while we were there. The educational material inside is decent. It's well maintained and a great PR/marketing gig for the Florida Utility company that owns it (the manatees like to be at this lagoon because all the equipment keep the water warm). Its a short trip - you could do the whole thing in 30 minutes. We went to the Loggerheard Turtle center after this which is only a 15 min drive away.

By crazykathyp |

Great place to see Manatees. Fabulous set up to take your kids to to learn about the marine life of manatee. Very impressive place and it's free!

By Dropsojup |

This is a nice little information center and there is a free tour that you can take, we did not on our visit. Would have been wonderful if there were any manatees the day we went but unfortunately there was not. The visit and parking are free.

By buffettb |

There weren't many Manatee's to see due to the temperature but there was great views and educational tours. The location was easy to find and parking was FREE. Actually the attraction was free. The Manatee Master was accessible and eagerly answered our questions regarding viewing the manatees. Not to be missed.

By OK2122 |

This was a great place to visit! We went on a cold day (high of 55) and there were large pods of manatees because they like the warmer water produced by the power plant. This is a free activity to do, and they offer a cool little museum/information center. There is a gift shop so if you want to purchase something you can. It seems like this power plant does great work to help raise awareness and build a connection between people and manatees. They also help with sea turtle conservation. Definitely worth the visit!

By Michael R |

A beautiful and informative facility. We enjoyed walking the grounds and learning about manatee. We also had the chance to see 3 manatee while we were there. Not the dozens you see in some of the pictures but it still made it interesting. It's not a zoo so you see what you see.

By Leslie S |

Very educational displays with information about manatees and other local waterlife. Beautiful manatee-themed artwork upstairs. We spotted two manatees and some large fish.
Their live web camera let us wave in real-time to our son in Finland! (Knew about this because he and his wife did the same last year).

By Cosmopolitan14274 |

A good place to see and learn about Manatees. Kudos to the power company for providing the museum and park for viewing. The warm water bring released by the power company provides a perfect place for the Manatees to spend the winter.

By Frank N |

Amazing to see that many manatees in one place. FP&L does. very well run project. Can't wait to get back.

By Karen W |

Ample free parking, multiple picnic areas with and without shade. Venue is donations only, and is clean and bright. The staff answers questions from adults and children. The best time to see the manatees is when the water is cold. We did see fish: permit, snook, barracuda and others. For best viewing have polarized lenses ready. We will visit again.

By vlaney |

The Manatees only come after the weather cools down in the middle of November. Then they gather in the warm water outflows of Florida Power and Lights Energy Center. The Manatee Lagoon Discovery Center is a free and pleasant place to see them on a Manatee Cam or from two-tiered decks. There are Manatee skeletons and lots of information on their life cycle and risks they face, like injury from boat propellers. The exhibits are interactive, and interesting for all ages. You can also learn about the Lake Worth Lagoon where the Manatees swim with other marine life. There is a gift shop, and a calendar of activities for visitors. Free parking and admission.

By baldeagle8502 |

Gorgeous location on Intracoastal waterway. Manatees there in cold weather. Educational and free for all.

By GrumpyandtheOldLady |

While most Floridians were complaining how cold it was on the day we visited Manatee Lagoon, we found it balmy. We were hoping the manatees found it cold so we would be able to see them in the warm waters off this power plant. We arrived within 30 minutes of opening and were lucky to see two remaining manatees hanging out a few more minutes before swimming out to intercostal waters. Yes, two manatees were absolutely enough to make the visit worth it. We spent another hour looking at and identifying the abundant local fish and shopping at the gift shop. We visited at the very end of December. I guess January and February would be better months to view manatees. Our teens loved it.

By dianafox415 |

We go there usually in November or December when the weather turns cold in Florida. You can see alot of manatees over there. Their facility is beautiful and their gift shop has alot of great merchandise. I come to see the manatees every year there.

This gem is a FREE attraction and well worth a visit!

Parking is very easy. The location is right on the intracoastal. There are chairs to sit and take in the view. The visitor center has informative displays and a nice little gift shop. There are areas to view the manatees. Since you are viewing wildlife there are no guarantees that you will see manatees. The day we went it was cool outside and the manatees were plentiful.

Also, if you are a local or staying in the area for a bit check out the schedule of events. They offer a nice selection of classes, lectures, and yoga!

A must when manatees are moving on, usually there are a few there that you can see and admire, when we were there a large female had what it looked to be a baby of a few days, quite impressed, thank you Florida Power and Light for allowing this at the warm water release into the Intercostal Waterway.

Such a great place to visit. We visited on a 'chilly' January morning and had the pleasure of viewing about 20 manatees. the site is educational and FREE

By Christy V |

We were hoping to see some manatees in the lagoon but we didn't have any luck. We chalked it up to the mild winter and warmer waters. We will for sure check out the next time we are in the area

By Thomas G |

On vacation and we saw Manatee Lagoon online. Really awesome to see so many manatee congregated in the warm water from the power plant. Really informative displays inside and great views.

By Harmonie |

Nice, but very brief museum. There’s some good information about manatees. They don’t have any interactive exhibits, but the facility is well kept, informative and it’s free to park and enter. I didn’t even see a fish while I visited, but the t was a fairly warm morning. If you love manatees and are in the market, they have a really cute gift shop too.

By DoloresJacoby.Let’sTravel.98368 |

This is a lovely, no stress place to visit. The building is new and architecturally beautiful. The gardens are great to walk. Some sculpture has been added. Indoors there are interesting exhibits as displays to discover, together with a gift shop and conference rooms. Outdoors there’s a large wrap around deck with viewing opportunities along the inter coastal waterway. And the real excitement is to see manatees and large fish in nature. Entrance is free and I highly recommend it.

By originalfirefly |

We actually didn't get to see any manatees, but we still enjoyed the visit. It is free with free parking. There aren't a lot of things like that around! The museum was nice and informative. We spent a solid hour, even without seeing any manatees. (We did see barracudas!)

If in West Palm Beach Manatee Lagoon is a must, specially if accompanied by children. These graceful and gentle animals do a beautiful dance as they swim by one by one, in pairs, and groups. Attracted by the warm waters coming from the Florida Power and Light Company, they convene in this lagoon in the chilly winter months. The visiting center has fantastic interactive exhibits that teach children of all ages all about manatees, their habitat, and the dangers they endure. Nice gift shop. Free admission and free parking! This is an experience worth having - even if there are no children accompanying adults. DO NOT GO DURING THE WARMER FLORIDA MONTHS. They congregate there because the water is warm in the lagoon and cold out of it.

I am a manatee fanatee and this is where I can catch a glimpse of the stars of the Florida waterways. FPL built this brand new eco center in 2016. There is no admission charge to come in. The building is two floors housing manatee displays and a small gift shop. On the outside is a snack bar.

Manatees can be viewed either from the ground floor or the upstairs balcony. They like to gather where the warm water is discharged from the power plant. The best time to see them is in the winter when we get a prolonged cold snap of at least two to three days. They like sunny cold weather. As soon as the waterway temperature equals the discharge water temperature they are back out in search of sea grass. Today was the perfect conditions, there were 169! It is so amazing to watch them in the wild like they are meant to be instead of penned up in an aquarium. You cannot feed them because they are protected wildlife. Just enjoy watching them do what manatees do. Check the manatee cam before you go to see if the manatees are present that day. Thank you FPL for this wonderful center.

By sojourner429 |

Best ever! Go especially when there have been several cold nights in a row and you may see dozens of manatees. The facility itself is well-maintained, clean restrooms, etc., with great viewing areas and picnic tables overlooking the water.

By crunch6 |

You must come and visit during any time of the year to learn about manatees and to see the gift shop. When it is cold in January you can see hundreds of the gentle giants soaking in the warmth of the electric plant water.

By Judy F |

I was told to visit this place because the manatees were seen due to the cold temperatures and the manatees drawn to warmer water. Yes, we did see many manatees, which are very Impressive! But I was also impressed with the educational information inside the center. Very informative and well done!

By Hdm12345 |

This is a great hidden gem (a bit difficult to get to) and well worth the stop. The winter months tend to provide more sitings than some other seasons, but the place has plenty of informative displays for all ages. The water is clear enough to provide you with a nice array of sea life visible from both viewing levels. I was also impressed with their gift shop even though I didn't purchase a thing (this time).

By TravelingFam |

Nov to March is manatee season. Will see them then or cooler weather. But this museum is very pretty and clean. Free but donations accepted. Outdoor seating on the deck. Gift shop inside. We enjoyed this stop even without the manatees, but didn’t stay for more than 30 minutes.

By Sammyb90 |

Really informative exhibits and a lovely location. It was a shame there was no manatee's on the day we visited (but you could check the website before you travel and see if there are manatees in the lagoon).

By Carol B |

This past week with the extreme cold temperatures here in Florida, the manatees are trying to stay warm by swimming around the Florida Power and Light Plant over flow lagoon. This gives the manatees a safe place to stay warm. Manatees have to have water above 70 degrees. this cold snap has put many species in danger. But it also gave many people a rare chance to see hundards of manatees all in one spot.
This is a great education spot to learn about many things the ocean has to offer.
Parking and enterance are free.

By 303henry |

Even though we did not see any manatees, we really enjoyed our visit & did see barracudas, all sorts of interesting sea life. The museum is well laid out & educational, highly recommended!

By HfromMD |

We saw dozens of manatees on a visit in mid January. Check the cam before you go to see if they’re around. Small visitor center. This is a short outing but well worth it if the manatees are around.

By Abygail D |

Great, fun & educational place to view manatees!! Nice area with picnic tables and view of the intercoastal waterway. There is a small building full of educational facts about manatees with a gift shop. Perfect free place to learn about the sea cows.

By FLnurseER |

We have visited after a three day very cold spell in Florida thinking we would see a lot of manatees in the Bay. Unfortunately, on the day that we visited, the weather turned quite warm and sunny 72° and we only saw five manatees. A couple of years ago on a very cold day in January we saw about 80. The facility is very nice, clean, with an expensive gift shop. The upper outside terrace is perfect for viewing the bay and the manatees coming in to enjoy the warm waters. The upstairs restrooms were pristinely clean, even though the center was quite crowded. Parking was busy but after about 10 minute wait we got our spot. If you want to see a lot of manatees, come when the weather is in the 50s, low 60s.

By Diane K |

We stopped by to see if we could spot any manatees. There had been some earlier in the day but none when we were there around 10. Saw some barracuda though. Nice information building about manatees and of course, a gift shop.

By Ladonna H |

Got to see two manatees swim along the side walk and then seen another two before we left. The museum inside is cool. Got to see some fish I haven't seen before.

By TWB |

Cool chance to see manatees with a nice gift shop and informational museum. We didn't see any in the lagoon on our visit, but it was worth the stop to have a solid chance. Snapped a group picture on Earth Cam before taking off.

By Dan B |

We came here hoping to see manatees btu there were none. I guess it is too warm by April. It was a nice diversion. We did see a huge lizard sitting on a pole sticking out of the ocean. That was interesting. Lot of other fish also and pelicans. Make sure its the colder months if you are planning on seeing manatees.

By istrainer1 |

This is as great place to see the Manatee and get up close as well. Kids off all ages will enjoy this. Close to many things, being a picnic and stay awhile and just enjoy.

By johannae937 |

Yet another great free attraction for the entire family. Manatees come and go all day long in our Florida Winters.... I would suggest checking the manatee cam to see if they are there enjoying the power plant's warm waters. They have educational stuff going on.

By PacificCoastie |

Had a great time touring the Manatee Lagoon facility. Although there weren't any manatees around during our visit, the facilities, displays and staff were top-notch. Recommend this to tourists and locals alike, and the best part is that it is free to the public!

By Jholtzman |

Learn and see Manatee in the wild. Great exhibit about the life and survival of Manatees in South Florida. Go when the weather is cool, as the manatees congregate around the warmer waters of the lagoon which receives the warm water from the power plant. At times there are up to 100 of these unusual creatures in the lagoon warming up. Great for all ages. A terrific asset to our community.

By Ed S |

I went one afternoon hoping to see some manatee's. There were probably a hundred manatees gathered in the lagoon. You got an up close experience seeing them huddled together or swimming around. It was late January and it was a bit cold, so they were coming in to get warmed up.

By 50yearOldGirlScout |

Nice exhibits. Excellent information about the area and its development as well as info about other species relationship with the manatee. Just don’t be disappointed if you go in the summer when the mannies are seeking cooler water. Beautiful facility.

By rjh615 |

We saw some manatees but they didnt come up out of the water. However, it was a nice experience as it is in a very pretty setting and there is a small museum and places to sit near the water. Furthermore, the fact that it is free makes it a nice place to take a ride to.

By vpaylor |

Great stop for an hour or two. Nice clean well maintained facility that would be a great place to take the kids or grandkids for an afternoon.

By philosophical45 |

This is a free attraction in a modern facility that, in the cool months of the year, gives you an opportunity to see manatees close up. A terrific place for kids and adults. Well done, FPL

By Ronald T |

Manatees galore !
This is a FPL initiative, the manatees congregate around the hot water outlet of the FPL plant, flowing into the Lake Worth Lagoon / waterway.

FPL has set up a dedicated building with a gift shop and an educational facility for the public to come see and learn about the Florida manatees for FREE, yes for free.

It is of course seasonal, and so very worth it. Lots of free parking, and many spaces to stand along waterfront as the manatees swim by close to the viewers. You will see manatees as well as fish, rays, sharks and the occasional turtle. It is not a zoo, nor aquarium, they are all in their natural environment.
Great for the kids and adults alike.
Worth going back.

By Bklyn21 |

Drove 40 minutes I knew the manatees would not be there this time of year but heard there was things to see in the building. The outside had beautiful views and the water was crystal clear. Inside there was 3 small fish tanks and posters on the wall about manatees. After 5 minutes we left. Drove around found a nice beach and the kids were very happy. I would not recommend this place unless you had other things to do in the area and it was when the Manatees were there.

By Lotiallen |

We went mid April. The manatees were not there as it was high 80’s that week. Cute building. We were there for a 1/2 hour or so. FPL did a nice job!

By RXPOPO |

A free opportunity to possibly view manatees, mainly in the colder months, and visit the information center. This may be a great rainy-day activity. It will not consume your entire day. An hour is probably adequate. The information center has some interesting exhibits and a small gift shop. This is a great example of big business (the power company) working with local community to provide an informative eco-friendly manatee exhibit.

By chrissnelson |

I didn't spend much time in the visitor center but enjoyed the manatees outside. They are only near the beach area in the winter. They camouflage well so just wait as they need to come up for air. It's free.

By geeman52 |

If you happen to be in W. Palm in the winter months, be sure to visit the Manatee Lagoon. It’s free, educational and usually has a group of manatees and large fish seeking warmth from the warm water discharge of the electric plant. We went there on a cool day in January and saw over 40 manatees, several with calves.
Highly recommended.

By Beth M |

Stopped here after a college tour and saw no manatees, however, it was a nice little side trip. It was in a gated area down a dead end street with great views of the water. My kids had fun looking at the huge fish found in the lagoon. (Free)

By mlesser1 |

Sponsored by Florida Power/Light this is a fun way to learn about manatees, see them fairly close-up and experience the visitors center...make sure you go when the temperature is cool outside... the Manatees like water temp below 70 degrees...

By bdfenwick |

We stopped by while on vacation. I love manatees, and we saw several and some cool fish too. It's quick and free to do. Easy parking. Super clean facility. Be sure to go inside and read all the info.

We are two adults, and we had a good time. I'm sure kids would really love it too.

By Smitty_girl59 |

....so if the weather isn’t cool and the Manatees aren’t seeking the warmth of the power plant, it’s not that exciting. There are some cool exhibits to look at inside and we saw a school of fish along the walkway, but the upstairs section was closed for a private function so we weren’t there very long. There’s a good photo op near the entrance with the Manatee sculpture and they have a nice little gift shop with many overpriced Manatee toys, but when conditions aren’t right for Manatees this is just a short distraction.

By OIA |

we hopped there is underwater view to the manatees but there was not, only bay watching, and medium size exhibit with a small gift shop. exterior was better organized and looked nice.

By Mrusso1913 |

We went to see the manatee during a cold spell last winter. They all gather at the Lagoon. The museum was excellent, they had great things to see and next year we will be bringing our grandchildren when the come to visit.

By lltockman |

We watched a mom and baby swim all around the dock. Learned so many interesting things about the cute manatees!

By Jonathan C. |

Loved getting to visit this location. We had an educational tour about manatees inside, and when we stepped out into the lagoon, there was a manatee swimming!

By Amlampert |

Wow! Manatees are swimming all around the building. As you stroll around the building you can see the manatees enjoying the water. Inside has tons of information about the manatees.

By Kimberly C |

Manatee Lagoon was one of our favorite excursions while visiting Palm Beach. We were able to view at least a dozen manatee, sharks, sea turtles, barracuda and other fish. There is no charge to view the manatee. Inside was educational exhibits and a nice gift shop. I would definitely reccomend to couples, families or youth groups.

By 24marlal |

Lovely educational place to visit with friends and family. Upper deck for additional viewing. Nice gift shop with lots of manatee wearables!
Great to see the manatees so close up!

By michelle l |

We must have seen at least 100 manatees. We picked an ideal day to view them because the weather was cool and partly sunny. Because it was a cool day, the manatees gathered in this lagoon because the water was warm. It was a beautiful sight to behold. The best time to see them is between November and March. During the warm weather, the manatees migrate up north. Don't miss this chance to see these amazing creatures.

By Patty531 |

Great visitors center & gift shop. Can earn all about manatee even if there aren't any visiting. Best time to come is when the weather has been cool for a couple of days. You can check the website live camera to see if there are any around. There is no charge for the visit.

By Patricia A D |

I was there in August, so I wasn't there at a good time to see the manatees, which was so disappointing for me! The inside of the building did have some information about the manatees, & the gift shop was nice, although a bit expensive.

By Johnny Jusino |

My wife and I visited the Manatee Lagoon and it was free to visit, but they do have locations where you can leave a donation they also have a gift shop. This is a great day trip location the staff is great and the place is vary nice.

By seahorizon |

I visited this place during winter. I have never seen so many beautiful manatees in one place. They were all trying to warm up in cold winter month by huddling together. If you are in the area definitely stop by to see these lovely mammals.

By Yadira |

Didn’t see any manatees though I did saw a shark which made all worthy.

Is free, but there is not much to see to be frankly.

By Marcela M |

You have to visit here! It was such a great experience. We saw tons of Manatees and the information center was wonderful. Id def go back again! Great for children!

By Tammy C |

Very nice facility with exhibits and a gift shop. No admission fee. Manatees come and go as they please. Visited twice and saw some each time. Can get very busy and parking gets filled up at times.

By John P |

It doesn’t take very long to learn about Manatees and see a few up close.
Great gift shop.
Free Admission.

By Kathy Z |

Temps in the 70s and over 100 Manatees to see. Place was busy on Saturday but everyone was polite and there was plenty of room for viewing the manatee. Lots of educational opportunities and a nice gift shop to help support protecting the manatee mission.

By Sandeew18 |

We actually went here in. If 2019 and were so lucky to see lots of manatees. What a great place for kids and adults. They are such magnificent creatures and we got to see them really close up. Went back today only to find they aren’t open on weekends. Should have checked their website first but we needed a little outing anyway so drove home on scenic A1A. We love their gift shop too.

By Bob S |

Unfortunately we did not see any Manatee's as the weather was warmer and they were not looking for the warm water the power plant pushes out. The barracuda loved it though and we must have seen 25 to 30 of them in the cove along with needle fish and one sting ray. Take the time to explore inside it is really informative.

By lalou222 |

the staff is great they have classes of all kinds
the lagoon is amazing when it is cold and there are 100 manatees all gathered

By CyndyandByron |

Go to this attraction during the cooler winter months and and you will not only get to enjoy the high quality eco exhibit about manatees, but you get to see the real thing. In cooler weather manatees seek warm water to survive. Warmer springs and rivers were the original respite, but recently they have discerned the warmer effluent produced by power plants and seek these alternatives to stay warm. Mothers and babies and older bigger adult manatees flock to the Florida Power and Light Plant in the northern area of West Palm Beach. The boardwalk also gives a view of watercraft and the West Palm Port. Thanks go to FPL for this educational attraction. By the way, it is free to attend.

By Joanne13018 |

We went twice during our stay in West Palm Beach but no Manatee to be seen although that is not the museum’s fault. There is quite a lot of information about manatees. Really nice place to visit. Even if there are no manatees the water and scenery across from the museum is beautiful.

By Nancy M |

Clean, well lit, lots of educational displays. Upstairs is just restrooms and some pictures. Since it wasn't manatee season we didn't get to see any.

By Scott W |

Very nice place lots of good information, everything on line makes it seem like there are lots of Manatees to see, but I guess we came at the wrong time of year. Very nice facility.

By JoeBeg |

When the water temparture is cool enough this becomes a great place to view manatees. There are two different viewing levels. When the water temparture drops (below 72 F or so) the manatees huddle around the warm water coming from the power plant. At times you can see a large varieties of a 100 or more manatees from the very young to mature adults. The center has a lot of ecological information about the manatees as well as Lake Worth. This information includes talks from the staff as well as numerous displays

By PTS P |

This visitor center looks brand new and offers a chance to glimpse Manatees in a natural environment. We did not have the opportunity to see any manatees, but the lack of anything to see or do here limits the chances that we will return. It is essentially a gift shop with a water view.

By LittleTommy1 |

Great place to visit and see manatees swimming around up close. Nice easy walk along the water’s edge, able to lean on guardrail and take lots of photos. Full gift shop and extensive historical area with lots of interesting information regarding manatees. Kid friendly and enough going on to keep the kids attention.

By Pamela W |

We very much enjoyed learning a bit and watching the manatees that seek the warmer waters around the power plant. No. charge so definitely worth it.

By Fireshirts |

Nice facility with lots of information about the manatees, but unfortunately no animals to see, which is a shame. Entry is free, with a gift shop

By Greg G |

Great place to go to learn about manatees and see some in the lagoon. Saw three adults and a baby during a visit on March 15. Seeing them in person is weather-dependent, more on colder mornings and fewer to none on warm afternoons. The facility is really nice and is a great place to visit. Allow about an hour or so for your visit. Best thing - it's free!

By Rosette E |

Didn’t see any manatees, very disappointing. In fact didn’t see any marine life whatsoever. A waste a time.

By MsP |

Unfortunately, we missed the Manatess by a couple weeks.
But, we had a good time. Very nice place, very clean.
They had a little indoor museum where you can learn about the Manatee and why they migrate there in the colder Florida months. They also had fish tanks and a gift shop.
You can also have a picnic on the grounds at the picnic benches.

By janj49 |

It was the perfect day for seeing manatee. The perfect time of year is November to March. We enjoyed watching them pop their heads up. And it was free!!!

By Lee |

Free and provided by Florida Power & Light. Off the beaten path and you might feel you are going the wrong way, but well worth it when you get there. You will learn all about the Manatee and almost always see them in the discharge from the power plant. When we were there we say maybe twenty including a couple of bables. Guided tour at 2pm daily is a must if you really want to know about these amazing creatures.

By brittneybrat86 |

Great place to learn about the Manatees. And its free to enjoy. If you do want to see them however try to go in the "winter" months. They said best to see between November and March. When we went we did a little guide, not much to walk through, but we did learn some facts as well as held a Manatee bone. Learned about the beacons as well. Great little gift shop area, as well as a nice area to enjoy the views outside. We unfortunately didnt get to see an actual Manatee.

By Carey |

This was our first visit here. We went in late March and there were still sweet manatees everywhere. The best time is winter through early spring to see the manatee. The center has lots of educational resources for all ages and a cute gift shop. I could have stayed there all day. The breeze of the water was wonderful. There is a large Banyan tree and seating along the water where people were having a picnic lunch. Great place!

By Judith K |

This is a place to see many manatees & learn about their lives in a local protected place. I swam with them in Crystal Springs on the other side of FL, but it was only if there were sightings, & the water was clear when our boat passed by their habitat. It was an expensive overnight adventure, but this was in my backyard! Free, but with donations well deserved for the nice facility.

By Virginie L |

One of the few free activities in Florida. Very interesting to see, we learned some interesting things about manatees. And we saw some.

By Miles Archer |

My wife and I just recently found out about this facility. It closes at the end of the so-called manatee season after March 31st. We got here just in time. Parking is free and admission is free, courtesy of Florida Power and Light, which supports and maintains this facility. It's nice to know that the check I send every month to FPL for my home power bill funds this place albeit in small part.

The heated discharge water from this facility warms the water year round. During the colder winter months manatees migrate here to keep warm. We saw precious few scattered manatees while we were here. Manatees are one animal that seems pretty much confined to Florida, though its taxonomic cousins live in other parts of the world. Manatees in Florida do get injured by speeding powerboats with propellers that slice into manatee flesh, leaving tell-tale scars.

By Liz R |

Clean and contemporary, good place to stop for an hour to learn more about manatees and the intersection with FPL

By 2011MOM |

A nice stop on our trip to see manatees in the wild. Lovely educational
facility. Sad to be next to power plant but glad they committed to doing something nice to educate public about this amazing creature.

By carmen632 |

Want to see something unique while you are in town? Stop by the Manatee Lagoon. A young graduate student and Manatee Master gave us the details on one of the most interesting native animals. And the manatees were right there swimming outside, so we could see them close up!! Great presentation, interactive exhibits, welcoming center, comfortable facilities.

By Judy M |

Manatee Lagoon is a Florida Power & Light Eco-Discovery Center. This family-friendly venue is very educational and you can see endangered manatees during the cooler months when they come to Lake Worth Lagoon to huddle and snuggle in the warm-water outflows of Florida Power & Light Company's Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center. And, it is FREE!

By Lone Traveler |

To me it felt like a half assed attempt at a being aquarium. The location was kind of bad. It's like right next to some sort of FPL power generating facility, Not really something you would want your kids to play near. It's right on the water but there is no under water viewing. That would have been really nice to be able to look out into the lagoon and see all the underwater fish, plants, and crustaceans. They also promoted how great it was that they have solar panels in the parking lot, One of the panels was directly under some palm tree so that it's getting a lot of shade. Manatee are an important part of the ocean and Florida. We should definitely do more to protect them and their habitat but this doesn't feel like it's actually doing much.

By Ellen K |

Wonderful location with a
Museum that explains all the things you need to know about manatees and other local fish and wildlife. Beautiful promenade to walk and view. We saw many barracudas, but no manatees. We were there in March and they don’t really stay there much as the waters warm. But nevertheless, it was a great and free place to go. We saw many families picnicking at the tables. Such a great place!

By Christine C |

I totally recommend the tour. Very educational. It was an enjoyable experience even though I didn't get to see any live manatees. They are in the lagoon from Nov- March mostly.

By Kauder11 |

Having read the reviews and realising we were out of season to spot Manatees at the lagoon, we still visited to learn some more about these magical creatures.

On arrival we were greeted by ‘Ken’ who was very helpful explaining all about the lagoon and what we should be looking out for. We spent a good half hour walking round the various exhibits inside before going outside to see where all the manatees would congregate in the colder months. Once back inside we stocked up on various manatee items from the gift shop as this is primarily what keeps the place going as entrance is free. When leaving ‘Ken’ informed us of a turtle sanctuary where he also donated his time to the welfare of Florida wildlife. What a man. Thank you.

By Dick S |

This LONG AWAITED center created by FPL is a jewel of Palm Beach County. In the winter time see Manatees that gather close to the warm water release from the adjacent power plant from the outside deck. See other fish and aquatic life throughout the year all around the outside lanai. Inside learn all about the Manatee, how wonderful this gentle creature is, and why it is important to protect it for future generations. Visitor or local, if you love Manatees you need to go here! Depending on season, allow a couple of hours. Also, it is close to the Riviera Beach Marina where you can also enjoy a great venue, food and catch a shuttle to Peanut Island.

By mertz530 |

Manatee Lagoon is a nice location with much manatee information. Building and restrooms are very well maintained. Nice gift shop and friendly for families.
Free parking and no entry fee. Donations suggested.

By Robert P |

Friends took us here for a visit and it was wonderful. I've never seen so many mantees in one place. My wife was enchanted by the relationship of mothers to baby mantees. The facility has a good show and tell exhibit; and it is a great for all members of the family.

By Julia K |

Great place to spend a few hours - we were able to see a manatee (though that is by no means guaranteed!) The educational center has great resources and information and the gift shop is full of adorable manatee trinkets. Overall I'd highly recommend, especially to someone who loves manatees/nature.

By Nelson T |

Very well done attraction highlighting the life of manatees. It is free admission and fully funded by FP&L. Manatees are attracted by the warm water from the power plant. There were lots of manatees, young and old that could be seen when we visited in January. The museum is also worth some time and you will learn just about everything there is to know about this interesting creature. Their range is pretty extensive, the museum has a map showing all the places manatees have been seen. The parking lot nearest the museum gets filled up, but there is another across the street toward the highway. Also a shuttle to pick you up and transport you to the museum entrance.

By CindyMcN |

The day we visited Manatee Lagoon was rainy so we did not get to see any manatees BUT the facility is really nice and fun to walk around. So much to see and very informative. Free to enter. Free and close parking. Definitely recommend.

By Fraser's Travels & Craft Beer |

Whilst driving highway 1 this would be a great stop in ‘Manatee Season’. There is a large car park and the building looks very new. However as it was mid-November when we were there, and not yet cold enough for the Manatees to be seeking the warmth of the power plant, it wasn’t that exciting. There are though a lot of interesting educational exhibits to look at inside especially upstairs.
There is a large gift shop with many overpriced Manatee related items on sale, but on the flip side entry is FREE so they need to raise funds somewhere. As conditions weren’t right for Manatees it was just a short visit.

By M L H |

Fantastic viewing spot to see Manatees! Water was clear and the manatee, fish & even a couple of sharks were active. This free educational center also has good exhibits & knowledgeable, friendly staff and a fun gift store. Can spend as much or little time as you wish with easy access in the Palm Beach area.

Plenty of room to view manatees from different angles and from heights. Nice parking area and a great place to take kids!

By P W |

This is an amazing center to learn and appreciate the manatees. We weren't fortunate to see any the day we visited but we learned a lot and are amazed at the circumstances that brought this partnership together. All gift stores need to add a little extra than normal to help fund their facility. It's not overpriced when you consider the center has NO admission fee. I fee it's worth a stop to learn and appreciate another beautiful thing about the area.

By wcstory |

Manatee Lagoon is a great place to see the majestic Manatees lounging. They're attracted to the warm water coming from the Florida Power and Light electric plant. Even if there are no Manatees there is always an abundance of fish. Small bait fish to the shark we saw the day we visited

By 4Travlrs |

We (2 adults & 2 teens) found Manatee Lagoon as a great thing for our family to do in 60-90 minutes before attending a MLB Spring Training game.

The building is a little hidden off the road but is perfectly located next to a popular inlet to view manatees in the “wild”. The facility is a little more than information boards teaching about manatees, preservation, viewing decks, and a gift shop (shocker, I know!). But it is much more, and nicer, than you would expect for a COMPLETELY free activity.

The visit is well worth it. We had an interesting 60-minutes exploring and learning about manatees.

By andrea |

Was so happy when we had a cold day! We immediately took a ride over to the lagoon where we saw many manatees congregating in the water. It is an amazing site. It is a great educational place for the kids too.

By DebbyLinen |

It was raining today, but a great time to visit the Manatee’s that take advantage of the warm waters coming from the plant. I’m retired from Tennessee Valley Authority and wanted to see the FPL CC site and was pleasantly surprised by the impressive building and information about the Manatee. Thank you FPL for your conservation and the educational information you share about the Marine life in Florida.

By Mj L |

Plenty of manatees, but the water wasn’t clear today. That didn’t stop us from enjoying the manatees and facility. Free. Plenty of parking. The museum is interesting, clean bathrooms, gift shop, and park like atmosphere with pretty views. Check it out!

By dagpel |

Take your friends, visitors, children. This is a great place to learn about this endangered creature and to become familiar with their lives, habits, needs, perils. We saw a bunch of manatees, even babies. Need to go when it's cold up north, that's when they seek shelter down here.

By LADWhitePlains |

Always a treat if the manatees are there. Unfortunately manatees could care less about your schedule. The museum, though, does have some very worthwhile exhibits and its free! Worth a trip.

By Tom O |

This is a one time see. Bunch of fat lazy manatees floating near the power plant. Large gift shop. Not very exciting........

By Edward A |

if you want to see manatees this is the place.there is an upstairs and downstairs for viewing. they come in and out when it is warmer but when it is cooler out they stack up in there. you can also see different types of fish and maybe stingrays jumping.

By Grampy49er |

Great way to spend some time. Cool weather brings the manatees into the warmer water, great close viewing. Also see sharks, barracuda, tarpon and many other kinds of fish. Nice gift shop, clean washrooms.

great spot for kids and families
educational exhibits and beautiful views make for a great daytime outing

By Dawn Marie |

I am a local who have grown up seeing manatees my entire life but this experience was truly amazing & educational for adults. Visit only on really cold days to see the manatees lined up below you to get the warm water discharges from FPL. The museum inside & the tour guides were fantastic. We learned about the outstanding memory & fresh water drinking abilities of these gentle giants. They passed around manatee bones & the educational displays were outstanding. The facility is a must see for adults and children to learn more about our endangered species. I would highly recommend for local looking for a free staycation trip for a few hours visit or for out of town visors to learn more about these amazing mammals.

By janet G |

I love this place. In the winter months hundreds of manatees congregate in the warm water from the FPL facility that comes into a protected lagoon. You can watch the manatees from very close up. We saw lots of mamas and calves, it was very nice. There is also a nice interpretive center/museum that is very well done. They have a lot of events there too. Parking can be a big issue on weekends with lines to get in. go on a weekday if you can.

By baystater |

This free center provides information on manatees, a nice gift shop and if you are lucky, live manatees! Manatees seek out the warm water in the discharges from Florida Power & Light Company. The center is built to oversee where they can often be found - and you will be more likely to see them during the cooler winter months.

We were lucky enough to see one the day that we went. You can view the manatees from the observation deck and balconies at the center. It's a bird's eye view of the creatures, which may or may not be satisfactory. The gift shop has many reasonably priced items and makes for a good short visit either to or from the near by Palm Beach International Airport.

By Richard G |

When they are there, this is a great place to view this awesome creature. They are somewhat weather dependent: if the water is cooler they gather here for the heat. Exhibits are interesting.

By Teresa B |

Good presentation. Tours offered throughout the day, informative and interesting. Manatees will more likely be present on cool days. Lots of barracuda. Clean, well organized. Refuses even donations, total corporate funded.

By Kathy J |

We went on a warm day and still saw a manatee! It was a very nice center- easy parking and free but donations are accepted.

By Donna B |

It is definitely worth seeing the hundreds of manatees gathered in the warm lagoon and the exhibit is informative. We went on a chilly morning and the crowds were large which made parking difficult, however, it is also the best time to see large numbers of manatees gathered.

By blondefish718 |

This is a nice little center with great information about the Lake Worth Lagoon and Manatees. The best times to go for the manatees are in the winter months when there's been a cold snap. They gather together in the warm waters released from the power plant next door. There's an event room upstairs as well which is neat for luncheons, receptions, etc.

By bhood65 |

We were looking for something to do on a rainy afternoon and came across the Manatee Lagoon. Nice facility and great gift shop, We did get to see one manatee but were hoping for more Would recommend to check it out

By Celeste J |

And so educational. Did you know manatees can only see in green and blue? Or that they are closest to an elephant and their memory brings them back to the same places. Don’t miss this free educational attraction.

By wpbdiver2017 |

When cold fronts move through south Florida in the winter, manatees gather here at the outflow from the FPL power plant to stay warm. On good days, there may be upwards of 100 manatees!
The facility itself is top-notch. From manatee skeletons to a very educational interactive display, there is plenty inside to keep visitors interested while they warm up from the cold, too.

By Eugene S |

This place is relatively new. It is closed on Monday's. Best time to visit is between November thru March if you want to see any live Mantee's. The water is warmer as there is an FPL plant here that warms the water so they are here when the water's are cooler. It has free parking and the place is free. There is a nice gift shop there too.

By Rathkids |

We brought some drinks to enjoy the ride - by the time the trip was almost over - everyone was ready to run for a bathroom!

There should be a set of speakers at the front as well as the back - couldn’t hear the captain as he spoke.

Loved seeing the dolphins and manatees.

By Polishfan |

Great place to find out more about the manatee even if none are currently hanging around. And free, which makes it even better.

By CindyMcN |

We visit here every time we visit West Palm. Never guaranteed to see a manatee but it is a great place to visit. On this last visit we saw a stingray. Would definitely recommend.

By Netanders |

Our expectations were pretty low on seeing manatees so we weren't too disappointed to see none. The parking and entrance are free and the museum is well done. So drop by if it is close to where you are staying but don't make a special trip. If the night temp is really cold, you have a better chance of seeing manatees there. Gift shop is cute.

By J E |

We did a sunset tour and the captain of that ship told us about this place. We went the next day. It is FREE. Totally worth your time. We learned a ton and were lucky enough to see one momma and a baby in late November. They have some cute stuff in their gift shop. Free parking as well. We highly recommend stopping. They also have a webex to see the manatees from home.

By JeanneDP |

We stopped by the Manatee Lagon on our way home from West Palm Beach and we are so glad we did. There were dozens of Manatees, including at least one family. Lots of places to see the Manatees and a cafe/gift shop on the premises (we did not go in).
Highly recommend a stop there!

By ItsJenny |

Headline: Big Utility Company Goes Environmental! Dateline: when and where the manatees gather at the warm freshwater effluence of the power plant. Doing well by doing good, Florida Power and Light hosts schoolchildren, adults, elderly and infants! The displays are engaging. We glommed onto a group of high school students (my 11 year old was tall for his age) and got to check the pH of the water, turbidity... all kinds of cool stuff. Don’t miss the gift shop!!

By DCRoemer |

Be sure to consider the time of year before you visit. We visited in March, and that meant no manatees, they were able to find warm water further from shore.
The center has a nice gift shop and staff, and other educational opportunities, though.

By louz971 |

Excellent exhibit for the whole family, informative, interactive plus the lagoon has living examples of this endangered species. Best of all it's free! For the kids they get to see the real deal and from the elevator platform become better informed for spotting manatees in open water, which is where all the danger is. For the environmentalists, this is a good example of an industrial outreach (Florida Power & Light) to use the unintended benefit of what happens when you discharge hot water into a waterway. Everybody loves a hot bath and manatees are no different than us.

By minookajoe |

When the temperature drops to 60 these gentle giants & their calves swim to the warmth of the electric power plant in Lake Worth Lagoon. Joining them might be barracuda, nurse sharks & other sea creatures.

By ruthandvern |

We were so excited to stop on our way south on I-95 and see these lovely creatures enjoying the 73 degree (f) water coming out of the Florida Power and Light power plant. It's been chilly in Florida the past couple of weeks and you could tell by the population. They noted 71 mammals there the day we were there. How exciting. How sad to see the prop marks on so many backs, wish folks would take care around these beauties as they come up to breathe while sleeping. Must See! Great insides also, docents and exhibits and more.

By KC4444 |

We actually drove by this place two times without see the entrance sign. What an awesome free place for all ages to watch and learn more about Manatees . There is two outside balcony and an indoor underwater camera screen to watch for Manatees. When we where there we also saw a shark in the lagoon and several large fish. A must see – just watch out for the entrance sign.

By Bobrom66 |

An easy drive from any of the vacation clubs. Highly recommend to one interested in eco systems and Manatees. Friendly staff and numerous displays. No admission charge... but donations are accepted. Manatees abound during cold months to enjoy the warm waters from the power plant discharge... but leave as local waters warm up. Nevertheless a visit anytime of year is worth an hour or so visit,

By Faith C |

What a gorgeous facility! The employees, displays, and events are wonderful. But, the manatees are the main attraction and they don’t disappoint. We saw over 30 today! The top observation deck has the best views. Highly recommend a trip. Free and ample parking!

By ChristinaFL32 |

We set up a tour for our CFA South Florida Society, as a fun family networking event. It was educational and fun and both the adults and kids had a blast and we all learned more about Manatees. You do need to arrange group tours in advance, and you do see many more manatees on cold days, so we were really lucky it was cooler and we saw so many. The guides are great, and the facilty is first class. You feel really good about FPL and what they are doing locally when you visit it.

By Agnès NM |

Very nice place and saw Lamentins.
Plus, explanations about the Lamentins and free.
So we contributed by buying goodies

By Tawnyrval |

Prior to your visit go on there website and check out the Manatee cam. As one of the managers explained Manatee's are notorious for no-shows. Nonetheless, If you have kids and need something free to do, bring them here.

What they offer? (From their website)
There are other fun family options that are offered at Manatee Lagoon throughout the year. Manatee Lagoon staffers have created an extensive calendar of activities, ranging from daily educational presentations, yoga on the waterfront observation deck, programs for kids to story and more. Visit our events calendar to access the schedule and registration details.

Manatee Lagoon is one of Palm Beach County's fun and engaging family-friendly attractions, with interactive, entertaining exhibits that tickle your curiosity about the environment of the Lake Worth Lagoon and the wonderful world of manatees.

The only downside is I needed to know if they had wheel chairs available and because the city runs it ,the call goes directly to the power and light company which doesn't make sense. If you are not on the property how are you able to answer customers questions?

By James R |

Not a lot to do, we saw Manatee while there and visited the gift shop. We asked around a bit, but nothing that was really outstanding.

By Gary D |

While vacationing in Florida, we stopped in here to explore. While walking up to the building we started seeing the manatees. They are all wild here, and come for the warm water output from the electric plant. It is January and they like warm water. There must have been 100 of them. The museum has a great exhibit with very nice self serve information. Guided tours available. Excellent viewing of the animals. Kids would like this place too. Of course the obligatory gift shop, but admission is free to the museum.

By Angela F |

The view of the water and the mansions on the other side is nice. You can sit and watch boats go by..makes it relaxing. But place is a bit hidden and hard to find. The educational building is very small and the only things to see are some pictures, 2 manatee skeletons and a gift shop. My visit was about 5 minutes. Considering the manatees only visit the lagoon during a specific time of the year..would be nice to have stuff for visitors to look at yearound...aquarium tanks with nice marine life..or marine life exhitits would be nice. I was expective a lot more.

By Marty Bielicki |

Established in early 2016 by Florida Power and Light (FPL), it is has become the center to view the gentle giants, the manatee. Millions of dollars were spent creating the center and pavilion trying to educate and preserve these docile creatures. The pavilion is open from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.

Warm water from the turbines flows into a fairly good size lagoon creating a haven for manatees, protecting them from cold temperatures. When the water gets below 68 degrees, these creatures can suffer from hypothermia and die. There are just over 6300 manatees’ still alive in the state of Florida.

The Lagoon is easy to find. The Power Plant is hard to miss off of Broadway. From the north, take a left onto 59th street. The street is rather narrow and we decided to take 54th Street by the light and go east several blocks. At the end of the road, go north for 5 blocks.

There is plenty of parking at this “free” activity. There is also parking across the street for crowded days. Going to the Lagoon is most popular when the weather turns cold. You are definitely going to see manatees. The day we came it was a balmy 75F. We did manage to see six manatees.

Clean and modern bathrooms are inside the center.

There are a number of displays and a small fish aquarium. The skeleton of a mother and calf manatee is sits at the beginning of the foyer. A good size shop sells standard food stuffs and Manatee tourist items is also available to purchase. Unfortunately, there were no “Manatee License Plates” to buy.

There is a good size walkway that overlooks the famous Intercoastal waterway. The blue waters are inviting, but you cannot swim here.

Giant size yachts can be seen looking southward. The famous Peanut Island is directly Northeast of the center. This island was once the protective bunkers used by the Kennedy’s. The inlet is actually northeast of Peanut Island.

Some people actually bring a picnic basket. There are a number of tables. I like the area by the huge banyan tree which is at the beginning of the entrance. The largest banyan tree in the United States is actually in Maui. The largest in the world is in India.

If you found any helpful tips in this review, please give me a “helpful check” to let me know.

Must visit if you are into wild animals. You can see many many manatees upclose. Beautiful grounds and information center. FREE!

By MicheleN866 |

This is a must see!! Loved it! Saw lots of manatees - momma and babies too! The second floor observation deck has much better views. Can see the manatees and all the fish. Love the new facility. Thank you!!

By Sarah |

Unfortunately the manatees weren't hanging out by the power plant, but we did see manatees in a recent underwater video. They normally hang out in the warm waters put out by the power plant from around December - March. The power plant has a nice, free museum and also a gift store. There are two observation decks (upstairs and downstairs). There are multiple fish tanks, manatee skeletons, and facts about manatees displayed.

By Gouge |

We spent a cool Florida day at the Manatee Lagoon. We were able to see more than 50 manatees that were wintering in the warm water of the nearby power plant. The museum (newly constructed) was very nice with lots of information shared with pictures, posters, and readings. We also took a fery informative guided tour from a young gal who who was knowledgeable and had a passion for manatees. Fun way to spend a day in Florida.

By Polaroids & Drinkin Stories |

Key word: Free! This nice facility is a perfect spot to take in some manatee and other sea life. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty crowded. The parking lot was full but they have a second one across the street. There’s a lot of info inside as well as a gift shop. Also you will find rest rooms and access to the second floor that has a terrace where you might actually get a better view of the manatees. The fay I visited there were a lot of them swimming around as well as some sharks. You’ll probably spend an hour here. But like I mentioned it’s free.

By FLnurseER |

A great stop to see many manatees, especially on a cold day. The manatees gather in the warm-water outflows of Florida Power & Light Company’s in Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center during manatee season. According to the info provided, the best opportunity to witness manatees at Manatee Lagoon is Nov. 15 through March 31. The entrance is free, my grandson enjoyed the educational display inside the visitor's center and well as the life-size manatee skeleton. The best surprise waited for us outside, where we observed a large group of these gentle giants huddling together, we counted about 160, many with small calves. Even though there were a lot of people, we did not have a problem finding a great viewing spot on the ground level and on the second floor. I would recommend visiting the Lagoon wholeheartedly, even a walk along the intercostal on a wide promenade with benches to rest upon. Parking is plentiful and free, and we observed 2 electrical charging stations near the entrance.

By TNMom |

Beautiful, clean, facility, with educational exhibits and programs (check their Calendar online). We saw a small family group of manatees during our late March visit. It was a great way to spend an hour with family along the beautiful Intercoastal a little north of West Palm Beach.

By Lily W |

So much fun and so much information! It's a really beautiful area. Fun thing to do with any crowd. Manatees come in the first part of the year.

By Bridget W |

Saw several manatees enjoying the warmer waters. Go to 2nd observation deck for best views. Nice selection in gift shop.

By Ana M |

Pretty place to walk around, didn't see any manatees because they said it's not quite the right season yet. Reason for 3 star review is because we knew we probably wouldn't see a manatee, but their Google page that had been updated 2 weeks ago said they were open, and when we got there the education center was closed. The guy we asked who worked the grounds very abruptly told us that won't open until November, and acted like we were idiots for thinking otherwise.

By Jenny J |

Perfect educational facility to learn more about the Manatees. Beautiful facility and perfect for a family to visit, especially on colder days. Lot of important information to help understand the life of a Manatee.

By cmdevlin64 |

The manatees are well represented by the excellent tour and interpretations at the Manatee Lagoon. There are lots of kid friendly activities and we definitely saw several manatees swimming nearby.

By Alvin C |

This centre is small. There is no admission and there's free parking.

But if you come in and just read the exhibition, it'll be boring.

Instead you should be there for the daily 2pm exhibition tour. Staff Krystina gave a very insightful explanation of the life of manatees. You won't be disappointed.

But seeing actual manatees in the summer months will be a disappointment as its too hot for these animals. We were lucky and saw two in July 2019. But Krystina told us that in the winter months, there were at least 200 coming in daily.

Hope the above info helps.

The Manatee Lagoon (A Florida Power and Light - Eco-Discovery Center) is a great free attraction. It is located immediately adjacent to a FPL power power which discharges warm water into the Manatee Lagoon. The warm water in the lagoon attracts the manatees.

The Manatee Lagoon is geared to appeal to both kids and adults and has displays catering to all age groups. Whether or not you actually see any manatees is dependent on a number of factors -- the biggest of which is the weather. We were there during the Manatee Festival which attracted a large number of people -- and fortunately - a number of manatees. We spotted 3 or 4 in the lagoon and another 4 or 5 in the open waters just outside the lagoon.

This is a fascinating center and the best part is that it's FREE. It should appeal to both adults and children.

By stanandbeth |

We were unable to take the tour, however that didn't stop us from learning about the Manatees and their environment. And yes we did see Manatees on our visit. The center is very well light, inviting, and brimming with information about the local area. A pleasant visit. Will go again

By David |

It was about 70 degrees and the Manatees flock to warm water sources. About 50 in the lagoon by the FLP power plant water discharge, which is clean water just circulated to cool the power plant. They are very close, yet cannot be bothered by humans. I was amazed at how inquisitive they are as a rubber flip flop was floating and they all checked it out.
It is sad at the amount that have propeller marks. The water is a rich green, not clear like most local water.
Educational building on site that was full of families but we did not go in.

By FLnurseER |

Amazing and very educational introduction to Florida manatees for visitors of all ages. Large free parking lot, free entrance, best to visit on a very cold day in January. There are various tours and programs at this discovery center, small gift shop, clean bathrooms. Large outdoor terraces offer a good view of the Manatee Lagoon, and the surrounding Lake Worth Lagoon.

By GNadelbach |

We went the first week of March and did not view any manatees. We will go back next December or January. Hopefully we will be luckier. We did enjoy the exhibition center and bought some items in the nice gift shop.

By John G |

A nice way to spend an hour or so. Family friendly and informative. It is a small center, and the viewing and adjacent park area is about the area of city block so do not expect to spend too much time here unless there are lots of manatee to view.

By coaster enthusiast |

Great natural place to see manatees. You can see many manatees and see them from many angles. It is a great place to come to see animals in the wild and to learn something.

By Jodie |

.......its a quick place to stop with the family. If your lucky you’ll see some marine life. I was on my way to the Henry Flagler Museum which was a few miles south. I didnt see much but thats okay as I live in Florida anyways. The building looked really new and everything was well maintained.

By Simone |

What an absolute JOY finding this place! Beautifully laid out. Lovey displays. Knowledgeable & polite staff. AND the manatees!! We were so blessed to see a mama manatee and her pup! Totally made our day!

By Leanne S |

This place is awesome! With free parking, free entry, and free tours, it's very hard to find something to complain about. We searched ahead online, and easily found the hours of operation, and activity schedule.
We arrived just in time for the free afternoon tour though the air-conditioned facility. Our tour guide was very professional, and was able to educated each guest while answering questions and including fun trivia.
The building itself is set up with an aquarium or museum like layout, so that you can easily get the same information in a self-guided format if you do not participate in the 30-45 minute group tour.
While most of the activities and information are located on the first floor- along with the small gift shop and penny press for souvenirs- we were also able to visit the second floor, which features a large activity room, and wrap-around balcony. The entire building is filled with local art, manatee skeletons, and interactive maps. Additionally, there is a large outdoor space, complete with picnic areas, waterfront manatee viewing area, and a manatee sculpture.

By Elizabeth N |

It had been cooler the few days before we went and there were over 50 manatees huddled in the viewing area. There is some educational things inside to look at and an upper le so viewing area. It's a neat place to visit in the peak mantee viewing months around December to April.

By AndreaUbok |

Very informative free manatee center with free parking, clean restrooms and a large gift shop. Lots of volunteers answering questions in the awesome center. We enjoyed walking along the shore down to the pier following schools of fish and many large inanities the came up often enough for air.

By steph3stout |

I didn't see any manatees but it was well kept and clean. You can't control if the manatees are there and I went in the afternoon.

By Donna M |

Clean great way to see manatees. Very informative exhibit hall. We saw 1 manatee several times along with a stingray and shark

By Odysseus T |

We didn't see any manatees unfortunately. They have little museum that's entertaining for about 30 minutes for young children.

By Lara Rodrigues |

great place to know more about manatees! super fun and beautiful, its a amazing place to see manatees in the wild!

By Barry B |

We were there on a sunny cool morning & there must have been 20 of them swimming right below us. Great viewing of one of the great creatures of world. No cost for the ample close in parking nor for the informative museum. They apparently survive on gift shop sales (we bought four for our grandkids) and grants. The warm (but clean) water discharged from the adjacent power plant is the draw that brings them to the side of the museum. They are free swimming and not restrained in any way. An online "Manatee Cam" lets you check out whether they're in residence before heading over.

By Gary G |

They present special programs for kids at no cost. It is necessary to go online and register ahead of time. Seats are limited. Nice educational exhibits. You might even see a manatee.

By Tess M |

Absolutely loved seeing the manatees in the open water--not in an aquarium. Information and displays were incredibly informative, and souvenir gift shop was nice touch. Well worth the stop!

By Steve S |

Visited this to view manatees. Not disappointed. This was not here 5 years ago, which was our previous trip to North Palm. Plenty of staff available to answer questions. Nice gift shop. Plenty of parking. Plenty of manatees. Free!

By Pamela H |

Went this am and there were mothers and babies. Clear water so you could see a lot of fish as well. Parking is a little hard so go early. Free. Nice exhibits, bathrooms, gift shop. Hard to find! Out GPS was not finding it on North Flagler, so we went on 95, got iff at Blue Heron, went down to Broadway, took a right, take a left on 59 st after the bridge, not 5hevfirst left, but the second left after the light.

By Steve2Q |

Very nice facility. We saw 5 manatees in 1/2 hour. Plenty of exhibits for adults and children. Good explanations of the manatees life cycle.

By victoriabO2792YC |

Amazing wee gem. Manatee surround the area due to the power plant releasing warmer water and the manatee not having protection from the cold. We were lucky enough to see around 20 enjoying the warm waters. Fascinating information centre and lovely gift shop. A real gem and free entry.

By Case1096 |

When you first arrive you wonder if you are the right neighborhood. But once you get to the parking lot everything is ok. If it's crowded they have a second lot across from the main exit. This is a less than an hour activity. Very educational. Be sure to view from the 2nd floor, much easier to see in the water.

By Catherine P |

The place is impeccably clean and d well maintained. A nice place to spend 1-1 1/2 hours to learn about manatees and perhaps catch a glimpse of them. They are more present from November till March so try to plan your visit around then if you want me to see them. Really cute gift shop and large selection of choices.- wear polarized sunglasses for best viewing!

By Island Dude |

Manatees group up in the warm waters at the discharge of the FLP plant on cool days. Up close and personal...plus its free!

By JM0003 |

This is a great place to visit and bring family to or visitors. Free to enter and free parking, very nice venue and you can learn a lot. There is a great gift store inside too. A must see when you come to West Palm Beach!

By Ken W |

We went to enjoy the facilities and check out the Manatees. Beautiful place with lots of free parking. We brought a picnic lunch and enjoyed it at one of the tables by the water. After lunch , we checked out the facilities. It is free and open daily 9am to 4 pm from November 15th to March 31st and closed on Mondays during the remainder of the year (April 1st to November 14th). It has a small gift shop and lots of interesting information about Manatees and their behavior. We saw lots of manatees and a lot of different types of fish. This is a fantastic place to visit and it has a lot to offer for people of all ages. Highly recommended!

By EyeForget |

This is so wonderful. We spent the whole time in the gift shop. The children loved it. Definitely go.

By Michael H |

I went in the summer and they did not have a single Manatee in sight. To be fair it just wasn’t the season for them. The gift shop and small museum area had lots of information. Total time spent 30 mins.

By Travelerwrld90 |

Great location to spend some time watching at the manatees and turtles. relaxing... There is also a museum to visit to learn more about them

By Andrew M |

This is a great free stop for the family to learn about the Manatee and maybe get to see some in their lagoon. The tours are self guided and staff were there to answer any questions that you may have.

By Cheryl K |

The tour which runs daily at 2 p.m. is worth taking. It's free and the guides are university students who are very knowledgeable. The grounds are lovely on the intercostal and there are manatees swimming in the warm waters beside the lagoon.

I totally enjoyed the whole experience, we did not see any Manatee they are in warm water all over the area. The manatee lagoon building is very informative and people are very pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend this in cooler weather but anytime you can get a lot of information on these magnificent creatures.

We love to see the manatees and there were several in the lagoon the day we were there. Sadly it was cloudy and windy so it was hard to see down into the water so it wasn't as good as it would be on a sunny day that was still. Since it was chilly they like to hang out by the power plant where the water is warm. The Visitors Center is excellent and there is lots to learn there about this endangered species.

The place is basically a small lagoon near the power plant. As the water is heated by the plant many Manatees come to eat there. There is a small museaum with friendly people who will tell you everything you need to know. During my visit there were more than 50 Manatees, I believe this number was due the low temperatures due to the cold wave from the north, but I was impressed to see so many and so close.
It is a 30 minutes visit, but worth going. The entrance is a little tricky as you will probably end on the power plant if you miss a sign.

This is a very small but amazing place to learn about manatees! I’ve been here many times whenever I go to Florida and it always makes me happy. I have never been turning manatee season so I usually only see 1-2 manatees in the manatee viewing area but I’m sure when you doing during the official season you see many more! It is free admission and optional to donate money as an entry fee. There is also a really cute gift shop to help the manatee conservation efforts they have. There are no manatees in captivity which makes me happy!

If you want to see the Manatees, you have to go when there is a cold spell (Late November thru February and sometimes March) as they go to there for the warm waters. Otherwise, it is free to go and learn all about the manatees with the very interesting exhibits. They also do painting classes during the off season and yoga classes too.

The gift shop and manatee viewing area are both fun to look around from, but most of the action is out on the walkways where you can watch the manatees hang out near the warm incoming water. Not a lot of activity, but great for kids and free!

The warm water expelled by the power plant attracts Manatees on cold days. I guess if you’ve never seen a Manatee before this might be interesting but truthfully, I was underwhelmed. The displays in the information center could use a more creative touch.

I like Manatee Lagoon quite a bit - professional, clean, and well run. It's simply just a quick stop rather than a true destination. That and the manatees are in the lagoon typically during colder times of the year, making it a Seasonal Manatee Lagoon. Nice place to stop by for an hour.

A wonderful, free experience to learn about our beloved sea cows. This is an fun, interactive lagoon and museum for all. Headed there when waters were chilly so we really got to see many manatee. Easy parking and fun for the kids.

Beautiful, free spot to watch boats but no manatees to view. They like to visit this area cuz the water is warm from the power plant but on this particular day the ocean was warm enough so they stayed away. Nice, expensive gift shop has nice manatee-inspired things and some fish tanks with interesting coral and creatures. Overall a nice visit but no manatee sighting.

This is a well designed, clean beautiful facility. Tons of information about manatees and the local area. Best part is that it’s free!

Free. Right next to the power plant, which provides warm water with your drawls in the winter. Had a lot of cool information and a couple of fish tanks. There was some art upstairs for sale, does super expensive but interesting. Went by myself took about an hour or less

They are closed due to COVID. Should update the site to reflect this. I can see this place is spectacular, but better luck next time!

Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to see the rabbits there. A stop for nothing, then. But the place is modern, with a promenade facing the sea, aquariums and educational info

Well constructed viewing areas enable people to see these peaceful and quiet manatees up close. Warm waters attract the manatees in the cold of winter, and after viewing the manatees, go inside to view the many exhibits giving information on manatees. Great for adults and children.
