I had been wanting to see the show he does on Maui every New Years Eve. Ordering the tickets in advance was fine. A few days before the show, they sent an email & I remember 2 things in it. One, will call opens at 5:30 & Bill starts promptly at 8 PM. Well, we’re standing in line at 5:20 & the tickets mgr comes out and says Will call opens at 6. We all said what the email said & he insisted they always opened at 6, but to his credit he took responsibility for the error & got will call open. Bill was supposed to start at 8, try 8:15. This was due to the fact they had a huge crowd & didn’t open doors until 7:40. Bill & his guests were fabulous & he had some surprises including walk ons by Woody Harrelson & Willie Nelson. The center needs to proofread emails before sending them out & better organize crowds, otherwise a good time.

The venue at Castle Theater was perfect. Not a bad seat in the house!

Several performances are held at this incredible architecturally designed performance facility. Events like hula competitions, to one man shows, to symphony performances, to shows like Miss Saigon and now Hunchback of Notre' Dame. It takes a facility that has been designed acoustically to handle many of the performance. This was one was out of the park! Visit the website to see what you could take in while on Maui. Visitors seldom 'find' this place. If they do, they come back each year when they visit Maui.

We saw Wilkie K and Amy Hānaialiʻi, and then Robert Cazimero in theur 2018 Leu Day concert. All were amazing. The first time to see Willie K (an amazing singer and guitar player) and Robert. Roberts voice is heavenly and his fingers seem to float with ease across the keys. Phenomenal.

My friends played a concert here and the views from the stage were amazing! You see this big mountains as you stand there! Great place for concerts, been only once but i loved it!

I found a Kris Kristofferson concert at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center when I was researching Maui activities before a recent trip to Hawaii. I snapped up a couple of tickets and enjoyed a great concert in a great venue.

We have attended several concerts and shows. Their performance of Les Miserables was undoubtedly the best we have seen anywhere (including Broadway). With a very limited budget the director assembled a superb cast of local talent (most of them were Broadway caliber) and the result was magical. We have seen some great perfomances by other national touring artists, but the local talent is just as good.

A beautiful center with a wonderful art exhibit area. We did not have a chance to see an excellent exhibit of bamboo art. We did hot have a chance to attend a concert or performance in one of the theaters in the building but the schedule indicates they have some excellent performances.

MAAC normally sponsors top rate talent. This show was not. The artist is very skilled but not tonight. Several selections were excellent. Many were crude and not worth the tickets price. MAAC should screen better.

We started out the year with Kris Kristofferson and a surprise guest performance by Willie Nelson and just enjoyed The California Honey Drops and Bonnie Raitt!! Beautiful Venue, well organized and perfect weather! Parking can be a challenge and a bit expensive at $10 bucks no matter where you park. Go early to eat dinner there, usually good and not too $$$, but well attended.

We saw Miss Saigon at the MACC and thoroughly enjoyed the evening from start to finish. Good acoustics, friendly and helpful staff, nice restaurant, lovely grounds.

What a great time at reggae festival! Had food carts couple food choices. get your scrips first not to much wait for food or drinks.
Good view from anywhere you sat. Rained begging of concert and they sold rain ponchos. Still had a great time ! Lots of families there kids on lawn while parents danced. We were dropped of so not clear on parking rates. But was parking on street for free so go early for free parking .

For the best of and on Maui, don't miss the MACC! Terrific shows, classes, exhibits, Barry's Maui Film Festival...and Bill Mahr on New Year's Eve!

Both shows were good. First one small in the little theater and the second one Willie K in the big theater. Got the food there and it was good, not special but good. Before show entertainment was good and both shows I would see again. Facility is nice and ushers helpful

We just saw Bill Maher .We spent over $360 for his January 1st show. Our seats were as close as possible. However, we could not make out the dialogue. After the performance we spoke to many other people in the audience. They also had trouble hearing and we're not satisfied. When complaining to management I was told it wasn't their sound system but the entertainment. Boo for Bill Maher !!!

if you are coming to Maui in either June or Oct. make sure to save a Sunday afternoon and take in one of these FREE annual festivals. The Kihou'alu (slack key guitar) festival is in June and the Ukulele festival is in October. These events feature some of the finest local talents and authentic island music that you will ever get and you can't beat the price. they run from 12:30 or 1:00 in the afternoon till 6:00 or 7:00 in the evening

We saw the excellent Ukelele player Jake Shimabukuro with the Maui Pops Orchestra. We had main floor seats, but I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Plenty of parking on site.
Open air restaurant (really more of a snack bar) and an excellent exhibition hall with an amazing silk exhibit.

We went to see Jake Shimabukuro here one night and this place is a great attraction for other reasons. Hula and music shows regularly on the open patio stage as well as food and drinks available. In addition to music at the H. K. L. Castle Theater, the Schaefer International Gallery has great exhibitions from very interesting artists. No shortage of fun for a half day into night!!

Art gallery is free, often special events are free. When they're not they often have world class performers. I went to the free Kī Hō'Alu Festival 27th Slack Guitar concert. 6+ hours of great music from some of the greats.

We were blessed to see Bonnie Raitt and the California Honeydrops at the this awesome venue. How lovely to sit outdoors and enjoy a nice ocean breeze and beautiful sunset before a great concert! The venue is beautiful and makes for a fun evening. Parking is close by and affordable - just a short walk to get to the front gate. The front gate staff may have been a little unprepared as we had VIP tickets but were not given the proper wristbands upon entry. The security staff was very helpful in getting it all straightened out for us tho. There are bars and food vendors - a little pricey but to be expected. The lighting and sound during the concert was awesome and we really enjoyed the bands.

The current exhibit of woodworking is exceptional. Beautiful cabinetry, inlays, sculpture, and wall pieces. Each one unique and striking. Extraordinary craft in every peace. If you are on Maui take some time to go see this one before it closes. You won't be sorry.

We saw a really interesting exhibit on Origami! The exhibit docent was helpful, That was the only thing open when we visited,

What a spectacular center this is! First time there to see Jake Shimabakuro and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. On the positive side, very easy to purchase the tickets, great acoustics and seats were comfy. Negative side--parking lot full and we had to cross a street to the overflow lot. Big deal! Even that lot was well lit and not that far. Can't wait to return.

While on vacation in Maui, we were lucky enough to be there when Journey was playing at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, so we snagged a couple tickets and made our way to Kahului. The MACC campus is large and easy to find. Although the venue charges for parking in the main parking lots, free parking is available in the back if you don't mind a little walk. Food and beverage trucks are in the courtyard before concerts, although the variety is limited. If you have reserved seating (bleacher seats are also sold), you can arrive whenever you want and make your way to the seats. Lots of people are on hand to help. The concert venue is outdoors, making it a great location when the weather cooperates. Even though rain was predicted the night we were there, the evening was beautiful and the concert was great. It's a nice, intimate venue so there isn't a bad seat in the house.

We stay on the MACC mailing list so we know who is appearing before we get here. In December the Maui Film Festival begins with a selective choice of good films in a pleasant venue with fun commentary.

Updated review 2/16/219:
VIP tickets for the UB40 concert with Josh Tatofi and Katchafire as opening guest musicians.
Josh Tatofi and his crew were incredibly talented with several tunes of various genres! Such a beautiful voice and great musicians. I would definitely pay to see them perform again.
Katchafire came from New Zealand and were very disappointing. Every song sounded like the one before and it all seemed like a loud blur.
The biggest disappointment was UB40. We all waited 45 minutes for the band to set up, only to hear a loud blur of noise and echo. Not a single song was recognizable. We left early, as did our friends. We stayed through rain and instrument changes, paid $100 extra for each of us for VIP tickets, only for a dud of a concert. Not worth it and never again.
The venue is nice, lots of security, helpful staff and good food, although overpriced beverages.
Parking cost is atrocious. $25 in the MACC parking lot and $10 in every overflow parking lot. Money making opportunities for the MACC at every turn. A bit much.
2017:
We started out the year with Kris Kristofferson and a surprise guest performance by Willie Nelson and just enjoyed The California Honey Drops and Bonnie Raitt!! Beautiful Venue, well organized and perfect weather!

Perfect weather to seat and enjoy Chicago. They were returning from a short Asian tour.
Paid for center seats but if you want to get General Admission tickets and stand you have a better view. Also GA tickets were $20.00 cheaper. Parked across the street for $10.00, easy in and out.
Descent sound, great show. Would recommend seeing a concert there.

Can't say this enough. Maui has the best weather in the world, so, if they build a world-class outdoor stage and set up seating for a few thousand folks and showcase Boz Scaggs, Michael MacDonald and Donald Fagin all together on one night, well, it's gonna be a hell of a show, which it was. In addition, their art gallery is curated by a world-class conservator, her name is Neida, and the shows at the Shaeffer Gallery are always top notch. refreshments are handled by various Maui restaurants on a rotating basis; there is always something unique on the menu.

The safety bar is very low (maybe just over a few feet - presumably to ensure unobstructed views) and there is no railing to hold on to while walking by people in your row to sit in the seats. The aisle to get to these seats is too narrow to feel safe in my opinion. So if you don't like heights, this isn't like the front row of an upper level of a typical North American stadium. So if you don't like heights, but want balcony seats, I'd go for second row or higher. Otherwise, a nice venue.

I didn't know what to expect and this photo show had a profound impact. It shows the many faces of those who contracted leprosy and were basically "banished" to Kalaupapa. Some at very young ages and some older. Some people lived there their entire lives. It was not until 1969 that the "isolation" laws were abolished. The faces of these people will remain with you long after you leave the exhibit.

The MACC is truly the essence of performance production that the island has yearned for. Have seen numerous concerts over the years; Santana, Diana Ross, Hiroshima..... local favorites such as Willie K, Jake Shimabukuro, etc... were simply awesome. The acoustics & structure of the MACC is unparalleled, as this is an A+ venue. Highly recommended anyone go see a concert whenever they can. ONE disappointing area is the ticket vendors. They should all take a class on how to welcome people, as they act like they are bored with your business.

We have been coming to Maui for 13 years and each year we check the calendar at the MAC before we arrive... This time we saw Iliza and Home Free, last time it was Boz Scags and the Manhattans... Before that it was the Shirelles and Kapono. Each time we are entertained by some quality acts in a first class theatre. Prices vary between shows, but it is no different than prices at home. So, get off the beach, put in a clean shirt and head down to the MAC for some really kool shows...

If you are in Maui and don't want to do the usual visitor sights, check to see what may be playing at the MACC. We were so fortunate to see the 10 year celebration of the Halau "Kekuaokala 'au'ala'iliahi" (one of the schools or halaus that teaches the traditional art of hula). It was truly one of the most unique and beautiful events we have ever attended. The next day was the ukulele festival (which we didn't get to). Nice bar before the event and the food was inexpensive and not too bad. Anyway, the MACC is a wonderful center that provides arts & cultural entertainment for the county of Maui, but if you are visiting it is well worth a visit and you just may be fortunate to see something you would never see anywhere else.

I love the MACC! Where else can you see Elton John perform under the stars - or - see YoYo Ma in an intimate theater? Their annual slack key guitar festival is a gift to the community. And many events have local crafts and local food for sale. Check out their schedule of events for the time you will be visiting here - you won't be disappointed.

We saw trevor hall play at the maui arts and cultural center on maui and the show was incredible! the venue is nice, dynamic and intimate! loved it!

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center is an incredible venue for many different events. It hosts the Film feast, top rated musicians, benefits and much more. I love it that they have food options & a great bar that you can meet up at before attending the events and on the breaks. It's hard to imagine our island without this facility. It's worth your while to go online & research that upcoming events & make your reservations now.

Awesome show. It is a never miss! Beautiful!
Issue is with pricing. The ticket is $24 for an adult, $18 for a teen, each with a $4 fee!
Can't you just say that the price is $28 and $22? What is the fee for anyway? I am sure that the MAC is getting a portion of the ticket price.
Just getting sick of fees.

For the prices they charge you would be better off by watching concerts on public access. No cost to you or just wait till it comes out on You Tube! Not interested in middle aged has beens reviving their comebacks here and stuffy rich folks laying out their own so called culture in our island. Even local attractions here have lost their local roots and catered to the mainland' s version of " culture ". It is like some snooty country club who will let certain people in if they are in a certain tax bracket. Economically, our money deserves to go to better organizations like helping women, children and patientcare!

Wonderful venue in central Maui .. great concerts ..movies and art shows ...call ahead to see what is going on there during your visit to Maui

Several locations for shows. Great talent here. Elton John, Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffett plus lots of local talent here this past year. Cocktails are a little expensive.

The box office is so poorly managed!!! Their online booking system fails but still charges your credit card and does not produce a tickets. Then it takes the box office manager a month to get back to you, blames you as if it your fault that their online system fails, then further blames you as if you are unaware of your charges on your credit card, then claims they spoke to some person from a bank which they did not speak with, and meanwhile the charges are still posted to your credit card for concert tickets that never produced. Basically it as stealing. How pathetic.

We watched the Shanghai Circus perform in January and were thoroughly impressed with both the performance and the auditorium! At intermission they offered food and a beautiful outdoor area to relax in before the second half. Will definitely look into more shows here for future trips!

Can't wait to see the live performance by these two, I've read so much about them all the way back to 2014, wonderful

Ever so grateful tickets were purchased well in advance as this performance sold out. The place was packed for a rollicking evening of zingers and commentary. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The Center handles so many different kinds of events and every time here I've marveled at its excellence.

What a shame that this organization can arrange some wonderful entertainment for a remote island, but they won't address serious problems they have for a ticketing system.
I've given up on donating and buying tickets from the MACC. Every time I go online to buy tickets to a concert or show, I get nothing in return but problems. From multiple charges to my credit card with no confirmation of tickets to an endless loop that leads no where but frustration. And I'm an annual donor!
Had I not called in, I would have had 5 sets of tickets to Evita and never known it. They would have gone unused and when the bill came through, I would have had the surprise of massive charges. It's dangerous to do business with this organization.
An organization as august as this one could be should have a basic ticketing system that works! Truly pathetic!
The MACC board is stuck in the 1990's for technology competence and it needs to change. It is truly pathetic.
Don't bother trying to buy tickets here until they get a new system as it will only end up in huge frustration and hours of bank/credit card problem resolving.
PS I've complained repeatedly and they still don't address the issues.

Just saw Jake Shimabukuro. What a nice event. Sound was at a perfect level, not like some other places that feel louder is better. The crowd was very respectful, enjoying the concert, instead of their cell phones. By far, the best concert we've been to in years. The theater was very charming, reminding us of some old time quaint theaters.

Top Notch Performing Arts venue. Performances are enhanced with the courtyard food and bar offerings and the Scaffer Art Gallery which is always free. The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful and serve with aloha.

Here in Maui we do not have many places to watch concerts or any kind of show. The only place here is the MACC! The space is great and I am grateful to have this space here!!

An island the size of Maui is extremely fortunate to have a world class entertainment facility that, in turn, draws world class entertainers of all genre. From local performers of Hawaiian chant dance and music, such as Willie K, Keali'i Reichel, Uluwehi Guerrero and many others, to the likes of Mikhail Baryshnikov and Sir Elton John. Also, the now famous, Maui Film Festival. The Maui Arts and Cultural Center (MACC) is World Class!

we did not see anything there as there was nothing presented but we did stop by to look at this lovely venue for the arts. Bravo to Maui for its support of the arts and bringing great talent to the island. Far better than the cultural wasteland of Kauai which has so few cultural events outside of Hawaiian music and so little articitic support from the residents. .

We went to the annual Ukelele festival at the Arts Center. It was great fun. We saw a wide variety of acts and picked up a little local atmosphere. Keep your eye on events at this fabulous center!

Indoor is fine but any concerts outdoors are a bit iffy. The seating is just not friendly

Many good shows play there and the venue is very nice. The MACC is very well kept and pleasant to attend shows there.
As above the cost of most performances is fair but the cost of beverages and food is way to high. I believe they think because you are willing to attend kind of a high brow place that they can charge way over average prices.

This beautiful venue offers many varied events throughout the year. They are always well attended, and presented with professionalism flavored with Aloha. The outdoor concerts on the lawn are memorable, whether it's Willie Nelson, John Fogarty, or a lovely local dance ensemble. The plays and musical productions are very worthwhile. The art presentations are interesting and well juried. Since we live on the island, buying an annual membership has been well worth the money.

The Castle Theater is amazing. No matter where you sit you are never further than 90 feet from the stage. The acoustics are very very good. Its considered a smaller venue but it has a majestic feel. If you get a chance support the arts and take in a show you won't be sorry you did.

I saw Slack Key Mastr-Ledward Ka`apana atMCCOY STUDIO THEATER. I am going to MACC this Nov 2011 for another concert...talk about a sweet theater and wonderful people.

The MACC has THE very best movie screen in all Hawaii, plus it has none of that rancid popcorn smell. No drinks nor snacks are allowed inside, Most times an art exhibit is housed there FOR FREE. For mainlanders who want to experience some ALOHA spirit , this is the place to check out. See the local paper for what's playing at the MACC.

We had a wonderful experience at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Our entire family was mesmerized. This is an amazing place to visit and enjoy! The experience was top notch. The Hawaiian music was outstanding. Wonderful, really. The venue perfectly organized, just incredible.

There's always something new coming through & the quality is pretty good. Definitely worth it to keep an eye on what's going on.

This was a big year...supposed to be anyhow. Bill Maher, David Spade & Jeff Ross. So when there's a keyboard and mike on the stage and it sits there for two hours and nobody plays it.... Something was off. Instead of starting with Spade or Ross, out comes Maher and launches into his year in review, and about ten minutes into it announces Spade, who seemed to have no routine or threw some old bits together from memory at the last minute. Ross follows him with a routine meant for a drunken bar crowd, not a pretty much lily white over 50 crowd paying $85 a pop. Even his audience "roast" was lame and when he called on Spade to join him, Spade had virtually nothing to contribute. Ross ended with a nothing guitar piece, and reintroduced Maher, who continued his year in review, launched into some typical bits and seemed to rely heavily on his playbook binder to a point where he just said goodnight. It was like Spade and Ross were late.... Kinda rude and almost like hey do anything this crowd will be ok and pay for nothing.... Twice before we saw Maher solo and things were fine. This troika of clowns just didn't get things going and were so low energy it was hard to tell whether the artists weren't reading their audience or the audience bored of the lack of artistry. And I'm still wondering what the point was to the keyboard.....

get on the mailing list so that you get e-mails of the events @ MACC when you are here
outdoor evening concerts are very enjoyable

Sitting outside out under the clear roof with dinner and a fantastic 5 hour concert by Na Hoku Hano Hano winners. Wow, wow, wow to venue, docents, concert, everything.

Only a small crowd attended an outstanding concert last night. (Maui is not famous for classical music lovers.) But did that enthusiastic crowd ever receive a treat! Kenny Broberg, a 23 year old Silver Medal Winner of the 2017 Van Cliburn Piano Competition gave a mind boggling performance of a very difficult repertoire in the most delightful and uplifting way. We should have this more often her on our little island! Mahalo!

The portrait display was very interesting. Not crowded so you can spend as much time as you want looking.

We have lived here for 3 years and Love the MACC. They offer a wide variety of events and entertainment. Broadway plays to famous musicians to educational and cultural events are all wonderful ways to enjoy Maui. The prices and seats are very good between the two theatres. We love it.

When visiting Maui, it is essential to see what is going on at the Maui Art & Cultural Center! There is likely to be a variety of different events during your stay on the island. We were lucky to catch a hip-hop show of one of our favorite artists (Atmosphere) while we were there this month. Looking at their schedule, there were plenty of other upcoming events to attend. The tickets to the events I was interested in were fair, however, I am sure it depends on the tour or group you are attending. The staff was polite and helpful. The venue was clean, and there was food and drink available for purchase beforehand. Beautiful venue, tucked away in a unique spot on the island.

People were very helpful with ushering, and we saw a wonderful concert. Bathrooms clean, grounds very pretty and all lit up at night.

My wife and I took-in a wonderful performance during a Hawaiian vacation, featuring renowned guest vocalists Debbie Gravitte and Sal Viviano and the world-class Maui Pops Orchestra. The theme of the Spring Pops concert shined a bright light on the Big Band era through the toe-tapping classic creations of Rogers & Hammerstein, Cole Porter and many others. The performance was like watching Frank Sinatra and Eydie Gourme' on stage, supported by a full orchestra. What a great venue and great show!

We went to a SOJA concert here at the A&B Amphitheater. What a great spot! There's plenty of space to enjoy the show, and it's separated into an alcohol half and non-alcohol half. You can get closer to the stage on the non-drinking side since everyone packs into the drinking area. Parking was easy and started at $5. The VIP area really got you nothing extra - just a bar with a shorter line where you still paid full prices, and a few tables to sit before the show. Overall this place was great.

We saw a fantastic exhibit of origami art. The display was well lit and finely curated. The surrounding grounds are lovely, with great mountain views.

Came for a movie premiere with friends. Nice sized event space, good acoustics and comfy seats. Balcony seating is available. Parking area is very large. Staff is super nice.

We went to see Sesame Street. The place is awesome. Really well built and perfect for some big concerts.

They have great seating my opinion. Good acoustics the parking wasn't bad unless you go to an art mixer. Nice field out door shows. I want incubus to come back and john mayer to come out

The movie SAMSARA was incredible! Stunningly shot in panavision super (duper) 70mm film! This film fest will run until the end of Dec. you can view trailers and more at: MauiFilmFestival.com.

It is a great place for a wonderful outdoor concert! We enjoyed the evening at the Art Center even though there were a few light showers! Best place to hear a concert!

Well designed center for the arts. Live theater offerings are surprisingly excellent - with broadway quality productions. Don't be surprised if tickets are available for some difficult to see mainland artists like Santana. On site parking and drinks for sale at most events.

We had so much fun at the free movie night event. It reminded me of the drive in movie days when mom and dad would take us and we would end up playing with the kids from the neighboring cars while they watched the movie. The food vendors were great I bought malasadas and Indian food, oh so good!

I've caught indoor and outdoor shows here and have never been disappointed. They often have food and drink available, at a reasonable price, before the show. Check the schedule before visiting or regularly. The quality and availability of good shows may surprise you!

Artists' Opening and Reception on Sunday was awesome. We had several hours before our flight departed and just hoped MACC was open. A beautiful night and splendid recognition of the 64 artists submitting portraits. When they finally let us into the gallery we were impressed with the quality and variety of the work. A magical evening and the best "non-planned" experience of our trip to Maui!

While making your plans for Maui, check out the calendar of events at the MACC. They have some great shows throughout the year.

A top notch concert facility on Maui with about 1200 seats. All seats seemed to have good sight lines....
We went to see the Society of Seven... sound acoustics was very good.
Convenient parking and simple online ticket purchase available.
We will not hesitate to purchase tickets for this venue in the future.

Took my family here to watch Zootopia for free. We brought blankets to lay down on the grass and we all had a wonderful evening.

An amazing variety of shows, a commitment to professionalism, a jewewl in the middle of the Pacific.

Thank goodnbess fr the MAC. It brings in amazing shows and entertainment for our community. It is a great facility with terrific staff. Mahalo for all you do! Join - and be a member!

A wonderful surprise to see a Center with so much diversity in performances and venues on the same property. I was there for a one man show called Uncensored with Allan Clements, performed in the indoor McCoy Studio Theater. The 300 seat theater was designed at a pitch so every seat allows for maximum view of the stage. Good acoustics and lighting made it easy to hear and see the performance. They offered a light meal and drinks (wine, beer, sodas, water) prior to the performance in a courtyard directly in front of the theater. Highly recommend a visit here and adding to your Maui experiences.

We were wowed by the Maui Cultural Center. This is a truly beautiful venue. We attended the 10th Annual Ukulele Festival, which was free to the public and it was such a great event. We also attended a Ukulele workshop there the day prior in the auditorium. The whole facility is really well laid out and has a great design. Everything was bright and clean with a local feel. Loved the huge Banyan Tree out front.

The Macc is literally the "Cultural Center" of Maui. They have a beautiful outdoor lawn facility where the "big" (relative) concerts play. The Castle Theater for little smaller, indoor, events, this is a fairly cozy, comfortable, venue where even the cheap seats are pretty good, and sound is very good. And they have another smaller indoor venue for even smaller events. I am not going to try and list all the concerts (from Who, James Taylor, Incubus, UB40, Elton John, Maui Brew Fest.....) that I have been to here but to me the Macc is invaluable! Sporting events & concerts are what I missed most being here, Macc helps in a big way with the latter. Staff are primarily volunteers and overall they all do a great job. Residents know, but if you're visiting and have a chance to see a show here, do it.

I saw Ululehi Guerrero at the MACC. It was a uniquely Hawaiian cultural event which showcased the "golden days" of Hawaii. Drinks were a bit expensive, but the seating and service were fine.

Modern, clean, and it seems that every seat in the house is a good one. There are several spaces for meetings, shows, and even great outdoor space.

Most visitors to Maui overlook the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Somehow it doesn't make it onto their radar, but it really should. We get great local, national, and international acts and artists, as well as a wonderful Film Festival, art shows, dance classes, and more in a very nice, upscale venue. It's a great place for a date night! Look up their website and find out what's on while you're here. You may be surprised! :)

we saw jack johnson acoustic show here and it was great. not a bad seat in the house. really lovely green lawn to lounge around and a nice outdoor bar. they pipe the music to the outside so you can listen to opening acts outside during drinks if you don't want to spend the entire show inside. i really loved this venue for music!

We booked tickets to this concert immediately it was announced and expected it to be a significant feature of our holiday. It was - but for the wrong reasons. The concert was outside and the gates opened very early, so we went along with the MAAC and arrived early. Despite being told no cameras in the ticketing advice, when we arrived and asked about mobile phones we told "no problem". The MAAC is divided externally into two large open areas, we entered the first to see multiple food stands, tables and chairs and a festival environment. We were delighted, not what we expected, but looked like fun. We shared a table with some locals for an hour or so and that was great. Bought some merchandise, because we were early and that looked like a bit of a disaster with consumers cards being discovered after they had left and difficulty finding the correct items. At this stage it was still looking pretty good. We moved into the grassed seating area, were ushered to our seats, which had a view straight down a wing aisle. We had been advised that we were in a no standing area, and had already been told no cameras. What a joke!!! I did not see the stage for the first 40 minutes due to several groups of people (without a ticket for the seats they were occupying) standing, filming continuously and dancing at the first song. This could have been just a nuisance if it was not for the three ushers who constantly walked up and down the aisle standing in discussion groups and ensuring that the stage was obscured except for a few glimpses. Santana appeared on stage, chewing gum and obviously disinterested in the audience and proceeded to play a few notes to his band. He spent the concert (that part that I could see) with his back to the audience jamming with his band. Santana was poor and the venue staff were appalling. I have never walked out on a performance, but after 40 minutes of obstruction it was an insult to us. I DO NOT recommend the MAAC for an event and certainly will never attend it again. That was a waste ( theft) of over $300.... (A couple alongside had two extra seats and told us that it was normal behaviour - its not acceptable and not the Hawaiian way...)

This was my second visit to the MACC and I was really looking forward to seeing the inside of the Castle theater. We got front row seats on the Mezzanine level, and we were stoked for a great standup comedy event.
Lets just say that the sound quality in the theater is brutally bad in the upper levels. There are impossible echos that made it all but impossible to hear the comedian. Long story short, if you cant get lower orchestra seats, close to the stage, don't go.

Lots of people, food, crafts, and entertainment. Full day or a couple of hours. Crafts for yourself or gifts.

Cover is lovely but...no stage so all the lovely dancers can't be seen! The next step should be to build a stage for the dancers.
We love to come to see Kealii Reichel on stage inside but we also come for the dinner and entertainment.
It's a shame they are not visible!

On every visit to Maui, before we arrive, we check the MACC website to see the schedule. We always find things to go see or listen to. We have been to a variety of shows there. They have varied from local musicians, vocalists or performers to world renowned performers. It is a beautiful facility. You can have dinner or cocktails, or both, beforehand. Sometimes they have free hawaiian dancers perform in the courtyard before the main performance and if it is available, go have dinner and enjoy the free show.

Great arts and cultural center, very pretty and saw a very cool ballet inspired by David Bowie! Fun night!

My wife and l enjoyed our evening at the MACC! The Brewer's fest was an eclectic event with delicious food, bizarre beer, and island vibes!

We did not go for a show but we are able to look at the current art on display. It was nice. They had a section were the parent had to decide if they wanted the kids to go in or not because the art work contained nudity. I liked that it was sectioned off so the you and your children would not walk and be surprised. The people working at the art and cultural center was very nice and informative. They answered any questions we had about the art work. We were the only people in there and it was great.

We have been to quite a few great concerts at the MACC. The last one was a Leon Russell concert in the Castle Theater. We were in the second row and it was great! We can't wait for the next concert!

This cultural center has great local and name brand entertainment at reasonable prices,, It has a great sound system and unobstructed viewing, check out weekly talent

We went to a concert here, and the seating arrangement was a nightmare for "general admission" the food and drink sales were ridiculous due to the unnecessary extra step of buying "scrips" and not being sure if you are buying too many, not enough, or what, plus you can only use the ones you buy for the specific event. And there are no refunds, which is not displayed, and they don't tell you until after your purchase. The staff are not trained to handle the type of crowd at a concert, and there was a lot of underage drinking. The bathrooms are also a nightmare, a big, beautiful event center, with a ginormous area that could have been real bathrooms, instead they used port a potties, with no light inside, and not enough to handle the amount of people. There were men urinating all over the place. It was gross. The only saving grace here, was the fact that the musician sounded so great, although the pain from falling off the rickety broken, bleachers they erected made it difficult to concentrate.

We just got home from the Sunday afternoon Maui Pops & George Kahumoku slack key guitar concert. Fabulous show. This venue is a real gem on Maui. We have been to dozens of shows here in the Castle Theater, the McCoy Theater and the Ampitheater. Quality of presentation and organization is obvious.

Maui Art and Cultural Center seems to be all about Hawaiian culture most of the time. Many of their events are free. They provide parking, seating out of the sun, and great local and off-island entertainment.

We have attended concerts here as well as wonderful free outdoor performances on temporary stages assembled on their lawn.
The concerts by known artists have been indoors. Modern theaters with good site lines and assigned seating. Acoustics and performances by well-known artists have been wonderful. Hawaiian artists have been especially entertaining.
Some of our most-enjoyed complimentary shows on Maui have been on the MACC's lawn. No assigned seating. Some folks bring blankets or lawn chairs to use if other seating is not available. The Polynesian dancing, chanting and music performances have been some of our favorites in this venue. Bring sun screen and water!

Went here for the Songwriters Show and loved the ambiance of the Venue. We sprung for Gold Circle seats and had access to the restrooms and Bar which was definitely worth the upgrade. The sound was great and loved the size!

The acoustics of the building are impressive, so musical and theatre performances can be enjoyed to the fullest. They have a very special piano that comes to life with a masterful pianist. Don't miss a chance to attend an event at the Castle Theatre.

We attended the 2018 Schaefer Portrait Challenge. This statewide juried exhibition has been held as a triennial since 2003, and continues to present the diversity of Hawai‘i’s people through artist’s explorations in portraiture. This year's entries were quite diverse, and all very interesting. A small but very pleasant exhibit area showing 52 artists' works without being crowded.

Both local and world famous arts, dancers, musicians share their talents with Maui residents and visitor alike.

Watched indoor and outdoor concerts and family oriented shows here, and I must say that so far...I enjoyed all of them! Ushers are really helpful and friendly. Definitely organized and restrooms are well placed with enough stalls to use during intermissions. Facility is well maintained and always improving with renovations and re-modelling every now and then. The type of entertainers brought in are either big international names or just plain great local performers. Loved the fact that map of the venue and seating availability are easily accessible to view and purchase on their website. Though, there is definitely room for improvement on types of food and beverage vendors they are currently contracting with.
For evening outdoor concerts, you might want to bring a light sweater or jacket depending on time of year. A sudden light shower or rain fall with a gust of wind, is a bit chilly and surprising when you're not prepared at all!

An overlooked great entertainment venue that most visitors to island do not know about. In many of the magazines the Maui Arts and Cultural Centre is mentioned...and you must take advantage of it. Check out whats playing at the MACC before your trip and you can book tickets on line. I have been there for a Chicago concert, The Stylistics are coming in December/2015 as well as Last Comic Standing., UB40 Reunited in January. They have Hawaiian History, many different Hawaiian dance performances. Don't be disappointed and book on-line before your vacation. Some events are inside and some outside in open air area with stage. There are usually some yummy refreshments available. Tickets are very reasonable.!

Finding this place is tricky - the GPS put it past the airport when it was actually near the University of Hawaii. No signage we could find. But once we got there it was great. Mostly a local crowd for an excellent concert with a lovely hula dancer as a bonus. Best Hawaiian music so far on Maui.

We have now been to 3 separate events @ the MACC. 1 indoor concert, 1 outdoor concert & a outdoor craft event. We are so impressed with the whole layout and construction! The MACC puts Maui on the map! Whoever had the vision to built this spectacular venue I salute you! The performers that are featured here are not some no name has-been. Highly recommend attending any one of the great events/concerts if you are on Maui. Good prices, great sound, wonderful atmosphere.

We just saw Jekyll & Hyde last night. In a word, Outstanding!! The level of this production rivaled any I've seen in major cities. The singing, acting and sets were suburb. Whether you live on Maui or are just visiting, I highly recommend attending at least one event here. The theater itself is clean, modern and comfortable with great views from all seats, even the cheap ones!

We saw the Dave Mason tour at the MACC and it was a very pleasurable experience!!! The lights, the sound and our seats were excellent. I would highly recommend any concert there.

The MACC is a great venue for live music. Over the past 2 months, while visiting the Island I have attended performances from local, national & international performers. Amy & Willie K, Judy Collins, & Straight No Chaser in the Castle Theatre. The sound is great, not a bad seat in the house. Island Dreams in the McCoy a fabulous small intimate environment to see & listen to these 3 outstanding musicians and last but not least their amazing outdoor venue. The Singer/Songwriter Festival was great this year. Well worth checking out what is going on at the MACC. They also typically have many cultural activities happening too.

Before our trip, I checked the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's website and bought tickets to see Jake Shimabukuro. The concert was wonderful, but any performance at the MACC would be a treat on a holiday. The ambience was friendly with pre concert entertainment in the open area lobby. We should have planned to have a casual supper before the show, but we did have drinks and chatted with others at the large table. There was entertainment at intermission as well as after the show. Our seats were comfortable and although we did not have the most expensive seats, we had good views. The acoustics were great. It was nice to attend something for both locals and tourists. Although it was raining heavily, it took only a 1/2 hr to South Kihei.

We went once to see a comdey show. It is a really cool place. We are renting a place very close to them and we can hear a lot of the outdoor concerts. It better then being there. We have no wait for the restroom and have a fridge full of food and beer just steps away.

Visited Maui multiple times, but had never been to the MACC. We were very impressed, it is a beautiful multidimensional facility. Parking was easy as was picking up pre ordered tickets at Will Call. Ordering tickets online was very easy and straight forward. By the luck of the draw we got the best seats in the house (in our opinion). Will definitely seek out events to attend at the MACC during future trips to the island. Definitely this year's great discovery!

There is something to the concept of too much sun, so found myself here. There was a children's art show being presented. What was both interesting and a little sad was how the spontaneity and joie de vivre of the younger children's work had completely disappeared. I witnessed this same phenomenom at a children's art show in Merida, Yucatan.

I live on Maui and I have been to numerous events at the MACC. The versatility of the property is amazing. The pre show food, bar and refreshments are impeccable. Upon occasion, the ushers can be very rude and mean but overall, it is an amazing place.

Always a good musical event. We've attended for several years and have never been disappointed. Only shortcoming is it's only a single performance.

I recently visited the maui arts and cultural center and saw a great show in the galleries....on the art of lauhala.....also there was the Made in Maui event too.....great to be able to do two things in one location

It is always a great experience no matter what you attend. The inside theater is intimate with good acoustics. We saw Leon Russell. There is a rotating dinner menu and spirits available in a covered courtyard. Don't miss the art gallery which features local artists. With big shows the outdoor venue has a very relaxed atmosphere. You can look at the stars, the stage is viewable from all areas and the food/drink choices are numerous. You can dance inside and outside if it so moves you. This is a true Maui experience.

This venue was more than what we expected. Lots of parking, great catered food, the sound system was awesome. We will be back!!!

MACC brings in Country Music event on Sundays. They need to learn that people the next day and get your act together and start having the events on Friday's or Saturday. They're a lot of country music fun that would love to come to a out door concert but Sundays make it tough for most of us. Start to think about having it on the days mentioned.
Having to purchase tickets on online by logging in so a total joke! Stop making ticket purchasers having to do this. Get your IT to change it to non-member purchase tickets without logging in. Your log in doesn't work most of the time anyway.

We have been members of the MACC for almost ten years. It is a great venue for concerts. We've seen Sheryl Crowe, David Crosby and Graham Nash (Jackson Browne showed up), JamesTaylor and many more. Very intimate. Oh yeah, very nice for local theater too.

If you are resident or visitor and you get a chance to see a play or concert -definetly go . Beautiful setting ,beautiful inside as well and for a concert seats are good and acoustics as well sound great . Three floors and balconies but all pretty good seats . Maui did this right and all should be proud of it .
Have been here for assemblies ,concerts etc. All were enjoyable . So check out what is playing and enjoy.

Everything was awesome!! But the only thing that was really not good is your lawn chairs are way way to Flimsy. As for larger people it's really uncomfortable for them. I would not want to be one of them if those chairs break while I'm sitting on it that would be a huge embarrassment. Maui Arts and cultural Center Should Make an Exception for people who are overweight bring in their own chairs. It's sad I witnessed a similar situation that very night at the front of the stage. where a couple had to be moved to the back because of the chair situation he was too big for the chair. They paid the money to be in the second row up front at the stage they should've just let them bring their chairs in. That was very embarrassing for the couple.

We saw Kealii last March in this beautiful venue. We enjoy the whole experience -- dinner beforehand while we watch the pre-show and enjoy the arts and crafts -- and then move inside for the main show. There are always many wonderful choices for dinner, and the food is always delicious and plentiful. Lots of good desserts, too! The pre-show is always entertaining, with many children's groups doing hula and singing. Once inside for the main show, the room is large and comfortable. although we have never had the very expensive seats, we have always been comfortable and have a good view of the stage. We adore Kealii and never miss his show when he appears.

We have be fortunate to visit the island several times and we are able to choose some local entertainment to include on our agenda. This year we bought tickets to the Maui Pops Holiday Concert with celebrity vocalist Capetha Jenkins. What a very accomplished orchestra and it was only enhanced with Ms. Jenkins! The Castle Theater is a lovely venue, the sound is good and the venue intimate. The host a variety of concerts and events, so I would strongly recommend you check their calendar during you visit and see if there is something you would enjoy seeing. Thank you, MACC, for a great afternoon!

We attended a jazz concert at the Center and were very impressed with the sound, sight lines and ambience. It's a lovely venue to hear music.

Never a wrong step here! The actors and performers are top notch. Never disappointing. I have had many a happy hour attending the events.

This is a place if you want to know about the subject matter that is presented at that time. During the whole year, at different times, they have presented cultural, art and all type's of amazing items.

The cultural stories and displays were great. Farmers market that is a repeat here each week was wonderful and samples were frequent. The stories and history are worth the travel in land to see and experience

We live here and are MAC members. Lots of good concerts and other venues. They also serve food and adult beverages in the courtyard.

Very good experience, bought tickets that day. Beautiful evening for a concert with the palm trees swaying and the sun setting. John Fogerty came out and rocked it non-stop for 2 hours. Doing CCR songs and some of his own. Voice still has it. Very entertaining!!!!! A must to go to Maui Arts Center if there is an act you would like to see, you will not be disappointed.

Made our annual visit to the Symphony and enjoyed music and Broadway vocalists. Another time, saw Hawiian performer Kahana and friends. The MACC offers great variety, superb acoustics throughout the theater and reasonable prices. A treasure.

The MACC reigns supreme when it comes to any kine of cultural or entertainment
event. Multiple venue sites spread out over several acres allows the MACC
to offer lots. From renown juried art exhibits to big name entertainment and not so big (but highly talented), one can have many choices year round to enjoy. Enhance
your World view at the MACC. Disclaimer: I and Family live on Maui, so fortunate to
have this facility just down the mountain ...

I hear that Billy comes each year to celebrate his birthday. I have wanted to hear him forever! Just moved here when he came to perform. He gave the greatest concert! You can tell he is having fun!

Visited for the first time the Maui Arts and Cultural center for a concert. Incredible theatre where the concert was held, not a bad seat in the house.
Lots of things to do here, art displays , two theatre's and gorgeous grounds.
Easy to get to, near the Kahului airport and cruise terminal.
Would highly recommend checking out their schedule to see what is going on here at a time that suits your timeframe.

Great complex with a variety of musical and cultural activities. Saw Chick Correa in concert in the main hall and the acoustics were fabulous! Also has great sight lines. Nice bar inside to visit between sets.
Other parts of the facility housed an art exhibit and a private party of ballroom dancers. Worth the time off the beach for a cultural moment. Check the website and buy tickets in advance.

Each year when we come to Maui we always look at the schedule of artists coming to the Maui Arr & Cultural Center and attend at least one concert. Generally they have food and drink for purchase prior to the show and the shows have been excellent. We have found it to be a nice way to spend an evening away from the crowds of Lahaina.

We attended the Winter Pops Symphony Concert while in Maui. This was a first for us but will not be the last. The Community Orchestra was superb and their guest artist was a fabulous singer. The acoustics are excellent and this theatre would rival any that we have attended.

So many good things happen here, Castle Theater concerts and outdoor festivals where accoustics are needed - indoors or out. Comedy when you need a laugh, to settling your head on serious cultural shows. This venue is wonderful, just right. Come early, have dinner before a show, linger if there are craft tables. Enjoy yourself and this central Maui gem.
Scaeffer Museum usually has interesting displays of art.

You never know who or what will be on (We saw Santana 1 night & Hawaiian music another). They hare food & art shows, there are musicians, artists, lecturers. Ck on line week BEFORE you arrive in Maui to reserve tix to your favorite shows!

Some good shows come to the MACC but watch out for the staff. They can be pretty uptight. Outdoor events can be a blast. The acoustics on indoor events is not always very good.

Most tourists would never find or venture to MACC but we'd highly recommend it.... great opportunity to see 'local' culture, history, society.
We were fortunate enough to see Natalie Ai Kamauu and her husband two Saturdays ago. Being fans of local music and dance, their performance in the McCoy Theatre was wonderful.
Before the show, we sat out in the courtyard where local 'grinds' were available, beer and other refreshments. A ballroom dance class was ongoing and there were many 'local' sites to see.
MACC has a lot of interesting shows booked and it is well worth the 20-30 minute drive from Kaanapali or Wailea to get a real taste of local life.

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center "MACC" is an excellent multiuse venue that offers multiple options. You can see plays, concerts, and dance programs. The MACC is centrally located in Kahului and is easy to get to. We went to the MACC to see Lauryn Hill and we were pleasantly surprised how easy it was to park, not to mention concert parking directly across the street was only $5! The outdoor concert venue is nice and had food and beverage stations along with lots of bathrooms. The ticket prices are usually very reasonable. Overall the MACC is a great venue to see concerts. If you have your ticket at Will Call, you can pick them up before the day of the show, which will save you time waiting in line to get your tickets the evening of the show.

Art Maui is an annual event where you can see amazing works by local artists. The exhibit is open 7 days and admission is free.

We were looking for some authentic Hawaiian artist rather than the endless shlock galleries that seem to have taken over in the major centers. It was a juried show of Hawaiian artists portraits and it was as good as any we have seen anywhere. Big kudos for a great experience. Gave us hope that there were true artists residing on the islands.

What a treat to watch the Mausey and Michals singing duo team up with the talented Maui Pops orchestra and Chorus to review Rogers and Hammerstein's greatest hits. It was a sold out concert for good reason. We look forward to coming back in the future!

Saw Bill Maher, Bob Saget, and Reggie Brown. All were funny as we expected. The facility is very nice and the staff was as friendly as everybody else I’ve met on the island. We pulled into the main parking lot only to find it full but there is more parking directly across the street. Signage could be a little more clear but it was a minor hiccup in an otherwise outstanding evening. If heading there from Kaanapali Beach side of island it’s only 14 miles-ish but took 2 hours due to inexplicably Chicago style traffic. Make sure to check traffic before heading as you may wish to adjust your departure time.

Amazing Art Show with beautiful paintings, sculptures, jewelry, quilts, furniture, photography, etc. - from local artists. Every year around 500 works are submitted to a Jury and around 100 are selected for this Art Exhibition. It was lovely to visit the Shaefer International Art Gallery. The volunteers that sit at the Exhibit are very friendly and make this a lovely event to not miss.

just went to the macc for the made in maui festival.....it was amazing.....more than 130 vendors ....great gifts.....great food......great entertainment......and a superb show of bamboo sculpture from japan

For weeks before a trip to Maui the second week of March, hubby teased me that he had a *special excursion planned that you are going to love.* Three days before the trip, I told my best friend: *I have no idea what to expect or what to even pack. Casual or sequins?* She said, *Oh, its casual. And you're going to love it.* While making a Costco run in Kahului two days before the *excursion,* hubby parked in the Maui Art and Cultural Center lot and went up to the box office. *Hmmmmm,* I thought. *This is interesting.* Two nights later, we parked in the VIP parking section and walked to the venue. Crossing the street, hubby handed me Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band concert tickets. Whoooooopeeeeeeeee. I've read his books, loved his music for years and as a fellow pilot, I have great respect for anyone who can fly an Albatross (a vintage seaplane). Enjoyed several margaritas prior to the concert, bought a Fin Land Tour T-shirt and my only complaint would be the communal port-a-potties. Have never paid nearly $350 for a concert and been relegated to a metal closet to relieve myself. All in all, a great night with wonderful music, dreamy weather and a soft Maui tradewind to blow the beachballs throughout the crowd. Will always check the MAC schedule when planning future island trips.

The place is really a community jewel. We saw Ally II tonight and it was simply marvelous. There's lots of diversity and the place was packed. Ticket acquisition and seat selection can be difficult and it is best to go to box office directly.

We were in Maui, and attended a free concert at the Cultural Center. Really a nice place with plenty of area (take a blanket).

An excellent venue as long as it doesn't rain. The seats are all able to give you an excellent view of the stage and you are not far away even in the back row. Reasonably priced tickets for the shows as we saw Chicago for $75!

Before leaving home while planning our winter vacation to Maui I received an e-mail from the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. To my surprise Keali'i Reichel was performing a Fundraiser on Feb.13&14th 2016 at the Macc. Our family has enjoyed many wonderful performances over the years. This year we were to hit the jackpot. A Super Bowl Party at the Macc and Keali'li Reichel. This would be our third time enjoying his fundraiser. The entire evening was excellent! Entertainment before the Concert was a phenomenal performance of The High School Choir dressed in all white Hawaiian Attire on stage with the Maui Mountains as the backdrop view. We enjoyed Hawaiian Food and the bar was open for cold refreshments. The entire concert was beyond wonderful. The evening was one of the best Valentine Days I have ever had in my life. Thank You and Mahalo to the Macc and to Keali'i and all of his performers. I feel Blessed to have been able to attend this special evening!

Likes:
*Variety of shows available
*Friendly Staff
*Massive seat selections (Book shows ahead!)
*Food/Drinks for sale
Dislikes:
*Once a show is in progress, staff gets testy about you leaving your seat (understandable, but having to go to the bathroom is unavoidable)
*Food prices

They have an indoor theater and an outdoor pavilion. Maui is a favorite stop for entertainers so it's common to see old and young rockers here.

One of the best small town venues that I have ever seen. Maui is so lucky to have the MACC. We saw Mick Fleetwood there recently and it reminded me why it is so great. The outside grounds are fantastic, and the inside theater is fabulous. The acoustics are excellent and every seat is great. Cameron and Yokouchi Families, and all the many volunteers, thank you so much! If there is a concert on Maui and it is at the MACC, go!

Had a wonderful time at the Maui Brewers festival. Excellent venue and staff. Great turnout and an all around great time.

Attended Maui Brewers Festival fundraiser. Great facility with a huge stage and lawn area for entertainment. Lani for seating. The ladies restrooms can accommodate a large crowd. Well planned and layout of the facility. Could use a little more shade areas and seating for Seniors.

We visited the MACC on Dec 11 for the Kris Kristofferson concert.
Before the concert we enjoyed a lovely dinner in the courtyard, from Consuelo's Catering. There were about four dinners to choose from, plus a full bar, and homemade baking for dessert. The mahi mahi was yummy, and the Hawaiian gingerbread cookies were awesome. There were some young people singing in the courtyard that were very good.
The MACC is a very nice venue. Very comfy, with good acoustics. The concert was awesome. Very personal - it felt like we were in Kris' living room. The young people in the courtyard also performed a few songs on-stage, and were amazing. They were from the Hana school, which the benefit concert was supporting.
It was a great way to spend a very enjoyable evening.

beautiful cultural center. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The open air stage features local music and hula with a nice bar and snack bar

Wow, they gave us Matisyahu AND Steel Pulse today. For 40$. Outdoors! A coke for 2$. Free parking, great atmosphere. Guys, this IS paradise!

This would be a great performing arts center in a city of 10X the population of the entire island. Its offerings are eclectic, and the local support of this institution is fantastic. We attended to musical events, an internationally touring band and a local group of musicians who are making a difference in their home state. Check them out during your visit, for music, dance and beyond.

Love the place - every event has been good. Slack Key Festival was good and parking plentiful.
Support the Arts.

We went to a Jake Shimabukuro concert at the MACC. This is such a great facility for a concert. Really nice. and Jake was AMAZING!!

Too many tourists miss this part of the MAAC. Housed near the center, the Schafer Gallery features artists from all over Maui. Every three years is a competition to feature the most "Mauian" work of art. The general public is invited to select their favorite. The winner(s) receive a substantial award. After leaving the gallery, one may head on over to the box office to buy tickets to a performance (outstanding theater!).

What an absolute gem of a facility! We saw the advertisement for the Irish Rovers and bought our tickets quickly. The pre-function was outdoors with food and a bar. The seats were terrific and the concert was fabulous. Nothing negative about this experience!

We went to experience some Hawaii music and immerse ourselves. We got it. Appearing with Henry were five up and coming next generation performers. Great evening of tribute to Henry's songs and talent.

On July 18th I went to the Opera Concert at the Maui Art & Cultural Center. It was an astounding performance. This was my favorite event on my trip to Maui. Attending a show at MACC is a must when you visit Maui.

Walkable distance from up hotel, was not open as they were preparing for an exhibit but the art outside was very nice and enjoyable.
Maui is so lucky to have such a lovely performing arts complex. It opened in 1994. The Studio Theater seats about 300 but feels more intimate. We have enjoyed slack key guitar concerts there. There is often a pre-show simple, reasonably priced meal in the courtyard. The Castle Theater seats about 1500 and is a very nice theater used for larger productions and/or bigger name acts. The outdoor ampitheatre recently featured James Taylor. There is now a covered area outside the Castle Theater for pre-show dining and pre-show musical performances. There is also an art gallery which has very interesting shows, entrance by donation. Prices for performances in the Studio Theater are very reasonable, more expensive in the Castle Theater. It is across the street from the University of Hawaii Maui campus.
