1 of 4 Food & Drink in Le Claire

Stopped in to grab a gift for a friend. Nice place. Staff was knowledgeable and polite. We got there at the tail end of a tasting. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Great craft cocktails and a great patio to enjoy them on. There are a ton of drink options that are unlike any other bar in the area.

Short tour by owner every hour on the hour! Cool place with their distilled spirits and gifts for sale. Friendly, clean very interesting! Bought some unique Christmas presents there.

Hubby heard about this place and we had to stop. Unfortunately hubby was taking meds and could not part take of the samples. I had to sacrifice myself. However not a fan of distilled beverages, I will say I totally enjoyed the smoothness of the vodka, gin and the Cody Road bourbon. They mixed the gin and vodka with a blood orange soda and it was very refreshing. One of the lighter options is the Iowish, which is a cream based liqueur with coffee and whiskey - very satisfying on the tongue. Definitely take the tour which includes the back room where you here about the process. The distillery uses only local grains and codes each bottle as to where the grain is provided, dates, etc. Fantastic visit.

An informative review of distilling during the tour of their facility. The tasting room was our favorite.

The free tour is very well done and cover how the craft distillery came to be; Following the tour there is free tasting of the locally produced spirits. I bought a bottle of their River Baron Artisan Spirit. (Much like a vodka, but with a bit of flavor). It mixes well with many things.

When in LeClaire, be sure to stop by the Mississippi River Distilling Company. The range of spirits is interesting and tasty. The Big Peach Liquor is great - I put some on my ice cream when I arrived home and it was delicious! The River Rose Gin is tasty and a great gin. We did not take the tour but enjoyed the tasting and the staff who was very knowledgable and helpful. Recommend you stop by Mississippi River Distilling Co when in LeClaire, IA

Great little place. Get all their ingredients from local farmers and use distilled mash as animal feed. They were actually distilling when we went on the tour. It was great to actually see the hearts coming off the still.

I've been to MRDC several times but this was the first time since they opened the Cody Road Cocktail House. The staff has created amazing cocktails using the spirits brewed there. Sipping a unique drink under the stars by the river is a great way to end your day. Actually any time is a great time. Try the Bloody Mary and my personal favorite, "Sip Me I'm Iowish". While there, make sure you take the free tour to learn how they make and bottle their incredible products.

In June 2013 I had the pleasure of visiting and taking the tour of the Mississippi River Distilling Company in Le Claire, Iowa. This was my first visit and tour of a distillery; I have toured breweries and microbreweries, but never a distillery. This was a real treat and very educational, not really knowing anything about the process. The gentleman that gave the tour was quite knowledgeable and very open to questions, did I forget to mention he was also very friendly. The operation is small, but well worth the time to take the tour, especially when you get to the tasting room. Here we were invited to taste samples of all that is distilled there and they even offered mixes, so you did not have to taste it straight unless that was your preference. I would recommend this tour to anyone over the age of 21; tours are given on the hour everyday from noon to 4:00pm. My personnel favorite was the Rye Whiskey, but the rest wasn’t bad!

Tour is around 15 minutes followed by sample of 2 of their products. Also have a bar where you can try some of their products. Maple bourbon was good as well as the coffee one and the big peach.

Just came across the Mississippi River Distillery when in LeClaire. Tour was very informative and the tastings were yummy.

The Mississippi River Distilling Company gives free tours several times throughout the day to show and explain the distilling process that they use in making their own spirits.
They use local ingredients whenever possible. For example, the corn that they use is from area farmers within a 25 mile radius.
Everything they make is distilled and bottled on site. They produce a good product. The Big Peach Liqueur as well as Annie's Apple Pie Liqueur are extremely good. Their River Baron Artisan Spirit mixed with Organic Blood Orange soda from Natural Directions will put your taste buds in paradise. A very tasty beverage. I strongly recommend these three.
They make vodka, gin, bourbon, and others. The free tour is educational. Stop in and take a break from your long day of shopping Le Claire, IA. You'll be glad that you did, and the friendly folks at the distillery would be happy to see you.

You've probably toured a brewery or microbrewery, but a microdistillery? Actually, micro is an overstatement. This all happens in a room not much bigger than some living rooms. About 6 or 8 vats, a three part still and a bottling facility the size of a soft drink dispenser. The "tour" is a fairly simple, yet enthusiastic, explanation of what they do and how they do it. Enough to be interesting but not so much as to be boring. Then go to the next room for free samples. An opportunity to buy merchandise (no pressure) and you're done, in under half an hour. Then go for a stroll through this quaint town, while enjoying that warm feeling in your tummy.

Nice atmosphere, great tour. Tour guide was informative, but not overbearing. The bartenders were informative during the tasting.

This is a small distillery in Le Claire, Iowa. They offer free tours several times a day on the hour (about five or six times a day). There is no cost for the tour or tastings and there is no obligation to purchase anything or spend any money. There is very little walking as the entire operation is in one room. We were there on a Tuesday and there was not much to see, no production visible (it was all in the tanks) so the guide just explained the process to us. The tour took about 20 minutes. If you arrive between tour times, you can look around on your own. At the end of the tour you get free samples of the products. I was with my wife and the guide kept pouring a sample into just one cup, like we were supposed to share it, We each wanted our own tastes so I had to ask the guide for a second sample of each product in a separate cup. The alcohol products they sell are a little pricey but that may be because they are made in small batches. We did buy a bottle of their peach liqueur which was very good. They also made bourbon, vodka, gin etc. There is also a bar where you can purchase cocktails by the drink. They have indoor and outdoor seating with a good view of the Mississippi River. No food is served. If you are in the area and have an interest in how alcoholic drinks are made, you can stop in, but if this is not your thing, skip it.

If you like vodka, gin or bourbon you have to stop in for a tour and tasting. This distillery takes farm to bottle seriously and delivers an amazing bottle of spirits.

The tour was very fun and informative. It is great to know that all spirits are made and bottled at the facility and all the grains are grown within 25 miles. The tasting was awesome!

Awesome Bloody Mary, wife had a refreshing vodka lemonade. Sat out on deck overlooking the river. Very peaceful & relaxing. They make an excellant vodka on site.

Another of our Le Clair must see stops for our day trip.
Excellent free tour and explanation for their distilling operation and the types of spirits they make. The tour takes about 15-20 minutes. Then, you can retire to the tasting room! Free small samples of their products, My wife tried the River Baron Artisan Spirit & the Gin. I tried the Cody Road Bourbon, Rye & special release Honey Bourbon.
I purchased the regular Bourbon, there products aren't cheap. But I like to support Iowa breweries & distillers:)
My wife purchased a cook book there that is put out by one of the local chefs.
Overall very enjoyable & enlightening stop.

This is a fairly small shop but the tour of the distillery was great and very informative. The samples provided at the end of the tour helped give a good idea of what you would like to purchase.

My husband and I have stopped in several times to look around and buy local bottles of alcohol. I really like the strawberry vodka. We haven't done the tour, but the staff have been very helpful and knowledgeable.

There is a retail store but we went mainly for the tour. Very informative and interesting. Absolutely worth your time.

This place is spotless. Tour was very informative and had a tasting room after tour. Most of their ingredients are supplied locally. 105 proof bourbon was smooth

One of our favorite spots to hang out and drink a little. Love the tours and always leave with a whiskey of some sort. Definitely recommend a stop into here.

These people really know their booze! They produce a great line of spirits and their bar specializes in signature cocktails. You need to experience it. And while you're there, take the tour. It's fascinating and takes place in the room adjacent to the bar -- you only walk a few feet!

My boyfriend and myself were there yesterday March 28 and really enjoyed the tour and tastings afterwards! Garrett was very nice and was a pleasure to talk to. I'm sure we will visit again! Thanks!

Walking past and saw this little gem offering free tours. We went in and had a lovely tour which lasts 20-25mins followed by some tastings. The products are fantastic, the gin and peach liqueur are awesome! Purchased those and a small tasting glass and then had some cocktails at the bar, excellent service all round!

Fun place to visit. We were greeted warmly and offered samples of their products. They were actually bottling while we were there.

This is one GREAT distillery! Ryan and Garret Burchett and all the crew there have a wonderful addition to the downtown of LeClaire, Iowa. Can't wait to come up for "first Friday" when the new veranda is open. Also fabulous products! I just love the Honey Whiskey!

We stopped here one afternoon after having some of their honey whiskey at a friend’s house the night before..
The premises is comprised of a distillery and a cocktail bar where one can enjoy cocktails made from the locally distilled spirits. We took a tour through the distillery which was free and very informative, and had the opportunity to try some of their products.
We ended up buying a few different bottles to take home, and having some cocktails in the bar. It was a good place to visit and to learn about the history, and also to get some information about the local area.
There is water and snacks provided free for the children.

We had a little time to kill when taking in Le Claire's Tug-of-war festivities, and stopped in at the Mississippi River Distilling Company, located right on the main street above the River Front. We know about Kentucky distilleries, but not Iowa. Yet this seems to be an offshoot of the recent Ethanol industry boom. A Four o'clock Friday afternoon tour was full of interesting facts, though sometimes difficult to hear the guide. The tour ended with a Tasting Room, which led to purchase of a few products.

The current batch of mustard was available for sale while supply lasted. The supply only lasted about 1 hour. The mustard is aged in whiskey barrels to enhanse the flavor, and it's amazing.

This small distillery offers free tours. Two brothers own and operate the business. The Burchetts take great pride in their building and equipment, but most notable is their use of local grains and supplies. At the end of the tour visitors are given free samples of their spirits at a long copper topped bar. Their top shelf vodka is very smooth and silky. We also liked the coffee liquor made with coffee beans roasted in Des Moines. There's a small gift shop with souvenirs and bottles of Mississippi River Distilling Company liquor available. The tour only takes about 30 to 40 minutes, but it’s definitely one of the many fun things to do in this interesting little town.

A nice new distillery that is focused on customer service and experience can be found on the banks of the Mississippi in Le Claire. Free tours are available every hour or two. You are able to learn about the distilling process from the selection of ingredients to the final product. Very interesting stop if you are interested in alcohol or, not. There is a sampling room you visit after the tour and you can purchase products in their retail shop.

Local distillery gives short informative tours on the hour. Free tasting room. Very interesting and informative.

This is a very small distillery but very nice. The tour was free and very informative and you got free samples of there product. I will go back next time I'm in town.

My husband and I came here on Monday, March 23, while in town to see the Freedom Rock, located not too far from this establishment! We were met by Garret, one of the owners, and from the getgo, we felt at ease and knew we were in for a treat. He explained the whole process in excellent detail and even how they buy and sell locally! He allowed me to take all the photos I wanted while my husband was sniffing whiskey!!!! It is a one-room, so to speak, tour, so it doesn't take long, but Garret made it humorous and answered all of our questions. We were allowed samples, of which my husband had 2 and I settled for something "light weight" --
After some great conversation in the sampling room, we chose several items from the gift shop and again, Garret even made that whole transaction fun! He is a great guy and isn't afraid to answer questions or go into further detail. I wish them continued success and will definitely stop there again, when in the area!!

In visiting Le Claire, a friend recommended visiting the distillery. It is an award winning distillery and has good liquor being made.
Inside there distillery, tours are offered for the distillery area with free samples. Children are welcome on the tour. Also, there is a bar inside with various drinks and cocktails sold inside. There is a merchandise stand inside too. The distillery is next door to the distillery.

We do not drink but this was an extended family outing and we enjoyed it very much. Distilling is interesting and time consuming. They had samples and we did taste a couple. The honey one (haha) is the best!

The tour lasted about 10 minutes and consisted of going into the other room to take a look at the equipment. It is a small operation, not much to see I guess. It was interesting, at the end you get to sample the spirits if you want. It was a little too much for me. I couldn't drink the straight stuff. It is a neat place, cool stuff to buy, but since the tour times are limited, I wouldn't rearrange my schedule to catch a tour. You can probably see the same stuff during regular business hours.

The tour was very interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable. Very new business, but I hope they are around for a long time. The samples were delicious and we brought home a bottle of very smooth, award-winning, yet inexpensive vodka. You have to try the peach vodka when you're there!

Started a day trip with a tour of the Mississippi River Distillery. The tour was very informative and the spirits are delicious. Brought home a bottle of SEASONAL No. 12 - Queen Bee Honey Whiskey and will be going back for more.

Stop by for the quick and free tour with samples. Great example of a thriving local business, be sure to support it!

the tour is short and informational. At times it's a bit too much much of a sales pitch though.
The sample room is very nice and has great views of the river. Thier product is wonderful!
I was dissappointed to find out that a facebook discount that they offered was only good if you had a smart phone. Unfortunately for them I found out this after planning a 3 bottle $85 purchase, of which I terminated before buying.

Never toured a distillery - and this one was great! Gin, Vodka, Bourbon, etc - whatever your tastes in the hard stuff. Nice area and town is charming - GO!!!

I was in Moline visiting family and friends when we heard about the Mississippi River Distilling Company. We booked our tour for Sunday at 12:30 and were very impressed with the distillery, spirits and our tour guide, Lily. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely visit again when I come back to Moline.

Seems there are winerys popping up all over the place so it was a unique experience to see how hard liquor is made. Small tours (in a relative small room) make it so everyone can see/hear what is going on. Very informational! The required tasting/selling part of the tour was not high pressure and they even offered the kids some lemonade while they waited. One of the owners was working and chatted with him for a bit.

This entire operation is about community. From the building constructed from many reclaimed items to the locally grown and sourced ingredients. With 4 and 1/2 employees they are shipping IOWA to at least 17 states. This place is worth a stop. The tour is short, but very informative. The beauty is in the building. Photos on display throughout the building from local artists are rotated every two months. The tasting room had a fantastic bar. I would love to have it in my house. I am not much of whiskey or vodka drinker. The first sample I tried I opened my mouth and dumped it in. It tasted like finger nail polish remover. It burned! While there I learned how to taste alcohol. Swirl it, smell it, swish it in your mouth for a few moments, and swallow. The second time around I followed the 4 S. It tasted just like it smelled and no burn. The strawberry vodka and the coffee vodka were delicious.

This is an up and coming place. They have a cool building in a scenic river town that is full of history. I am not a huge Bourbon or Whiskey fan but I have been through this place probably 5 times now. I have not been back since they became a "Cocktail House" but the improvements look nice. Prior to the new Iowa law they used to only be able to serve 2 small samples to try along the tour. The tour is short and sweet but gives you the background on the process. I wish the racks were a part of this tour but its only the main floor. I like the Vodka and the American Spirit, and I have bought a few others as gifts to friends. Worth the stop.

Stopped by the distillery to pick up some of the new Iowish Cream Liqueur. It has a light, unique taste due to being a corn product. This batch will sell out quickly.

If you ever visit Le Claire, be sure to stop by the Mississippi River Distilling Company. Particularly if it is the first Friday of the month. During this time they offer free samples of unique recipes for food and drinks, give you a run down of the distilling process (showing off the equipment used to do it) and allow you to taste any of their liquors. They usually also feature local artists at this event!

Heard about this place from my fiancé’s parents so we decided to check it out. Glad we stopped. We didn’t get there in time for a tour but they have some neat drinks and are on the river with a great view. Stop by and check it out.

The distillery is small only 3 rooms but as we learned on the tour they have room to grow. The brief tour takes place it the room where all the equipment is. You learn about production and their use of local products. After the tour you go into the tasting room. There is a beautiful bar with windows that look out over the Mississippi River, great Blues on the radio and delicious samples to be had. The best is their vodka mixed with their very own Irish Dog Bloody Mary Mix.

We stopped by the Mississippi River Distilling Company on a whim and got there just in time for a tour. The store front and manufacturing tour is very small, but the tour was very informative. Free samples of all their products are offered at the end of the tour.

Great local distillery, offers flights of whiskey and liqueurs, purchase bottles as well, custom orders too, inside and outside seating, very enjoyable, right along main street of town, menus are designed very well - easy to read, know what's in the drinks with price and photo

Very interesting to see this operation so close to my home town. Many locals love to visit and have a drink or two quite often. Very pleasing atmosphere with friendly little-town people! Great place for the men to spend some time having a few drinks while their wife goes on a shopping spree in the many quaint stores in LeClaire. Or a great place to have a few drinks after antiquing the numerous antique stores.

The tour is very informative. They take you from where the local ingredients come from to where it's bottled by volunteers right in the distillery, right where the tour is. Great tasting room, great spirits

Stopped by and was slightly disappointed that yours of the distillery had been discontinued. We did have a tasting flight of four selections. I tried the Single Barrel Bourbon, the Bourbon, the Iwowish Whiskey and their premixed old fashion.
The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great overlooking the Mississippi River.

What a neat place! This distillery has only been open for a few years, but they seem to be thriving, and how wonderful! When I first heard about this distillery, I automatically assumed they only distilled whiskey, but I was quite mistaken. They make several different types of liquor - they have a bourbon, a vodka, a gin, and several more. Plus, they have various seasonal selections. You can go into the tasting bar and try a little thimble of anything. I didn't have time to go on the tour (which is free and offered daily on the hour between noon and 4 pm), but I went in for a quick tasting and enjoyed it very much. Of course, they have a little shop where you can then purchase what you like. The prices are reasonable, and it's a fun little stop if you are ever in the Le Claire area. They also distribute their products, so look for them in your local liquor store!

If you are in town in the afternoon this is a great place to spend a half hour. The tours are not walking but rather standing in the area where they do all of the distilling. The owner was very pleasant and I learned some interesting facts about small distilleries. The tour is free and you get to taste the product at the end.

This is a small local operation but you will learn a lot about the distilling process, all in one room. You then get to taste some of their products. It was very interesting and you can of course buy what they are distilling. We enjoyed ourselves.

Really neat place! Large variety of liquors and many interesting drink recipes. Inside is very nicely done. Outside patio has a great view overlooking the Mississippi River! Worth a stop just for the view, but be sure to take home some of their fine distilled products!

The tour was great and informative. The produce a variety of liquors, all made with local ingredients. They have a great tasting after the tour. I had the peach liquor and it was fantastic. The liquor is available for purchase right at the distillery.

The drinks were AMAZING!! So many different types of drinks - definitely something for everyone and a drink for every time of the day -- morning, noon & night. The bartender was awesome. Had a great time!!

Iowa law now lets you drink more than a sip of their outstanding adult beverages. There's also an outdoor seating area where you can watch the Mississippi River.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The tour was fun along with the generous sampling at the end. Part of our group had to buy a few items to take home with them. A great place to stop while you are in town. Good for all ages!

Very informative tour regarding how they produce their various products. They offered us free tastings. Very kind. The Iowish Creme, the Apple Pie, the Vodka, and the Gin. Do not miss this spot.

This is a nice little distillery in Le Claire. If you drive from the South it's on the right hand side on the main road through the town centre. The tour was free of charge and we had three small samples of their products. Look at their website for opening hours and the tours. It was a nice and informative tour, not long but enough to learn about the distillery and their products. The tour guide when we visited the distillery was one of the owners. There is also a small shop at the entrance,

We happened upon this 2 yr. old distillery and waited for the tour. Tours are FREE. The gentleman who gave the tour was a retired chemist/school principal. He did a great job. We talked with one of the owners and loved to hear the passion he had for his business. They had a nice little set up. There wasn't much walking, we simply stood in one room for the 'tour' but it was very informational! All of the equipment used in the process was explained in great detail. We also enjoyed the video playing in the waiting area of the owner's trip to Germany to learn about the distilling process. It is a very 'green' establishment which we were happy to learn more about. All the products used in the process are from local farmers. All 'waste' is returned back to the local farms for local animals, etc. etc. They even used reclaimed wood in the interior of the building. Nice samples of rum, vodka and whiskey were given at the end of the tour. We look forward to visiting again in the future. When you visit, make sure to look for the 'complaint department'....hint, look up!

We stopped by on our way through town and did the tour. Was short but informative and our guide was a hoot. Tasting after was great. I think between the 4 couples we purchased about at least a dozen assorted bottles. Love the peach liqueur, wish we could get it back home. Beautiful location and very nice building. We will stop again if in the area.

We were the only people in the place on an early Wednesday evening. We enjoyed a tasting and a visit with the very personable employees. We went home with a couple of bottles too. Be sure to try a drink with the salted caramel cream. Yummy!

We ordered a charcuterie board and when it came we were told they were all out of crackers! Are you kidding! We should have refused it but ate some of it and took the rest with us so we could buy some crackers to finish the cheese and sausage later. So disappointing!
And the samples were barely enough to get a good taste!

Went to Mississippi Distilling for an initial visit and found it to be great. The product they serve is very good and the service is superior. Was more than I expected and will definitely be a go-to spot going forward.

We were visiting the Quad Cities/LeClair area from NJ. We have lots of wineries and breweries out by us so we decided to try a distillery for something different. What a great experience!
The description of the whole process from “grain to glass” was explained very nicely. The bottles filled with the different grains were helpful visual aids in knowing what goes into our favorite spirits— and which have gluten. The entire distilling area was clean and neat.
You could sample a few spirits after the tour but then there is a beautiful bar area where you can have drinks. The location is beautiful as it is right on the river.
I loved how all the grains are locally sourced. Each bottle has a hand-numbered sticker and you can go on line to read batch notes. Where else can you know the names of the actual farmers who grew the grains for your drinks?
My husband purchased the Cody Road bourbon and I had to get the coffee liqueur. The bottles are too pretty to put in a cabinet! Every time we have a drink we think of the nice owners and guides at MRDC.
When we come back to Iowa, we will be sure to make another stop here.

We really enjoyed the tour and the history of the startup of this young business. The Iowish Cream Liquor is very, very good. All of the staff are friendly and accommodating.

We were on a 44 hour road trip and decided to make a few adjustments so that we could stop in at this distillery. We arrived just as they opened which allowed us to ask a bunch of questions and have a private tasting. There was not one taste that we had the pucker face. We even liked the gin and we are not gin drinkers! If you are in the area and want to try good spirits you need to build this into your trip.

Two brothers started this business 2 years ago. A big investment in a beautiful new building. Samplings and a short, very intersting tour narrated by one of the owners. They have sold out of the vodka, bourbon, and whiskey on the first day of each new batch. Their focus on local suppliers and traceability is phenomenal. If you're in the area... stop at the Blue Iguana for a very nice Mexican meal, then walk down the sidewalk to the distillery. It's fun.

A friend and I were in Le Claire passing through from vending at a medieval faire and decided to stop for the night. We wandered this city the next day and took the tour offered here. The guide was friendly and we got to meet on the brothers, Ryan, who own the distillery. He took time out of his day to talk to us and give a deeper explanation to my friend who brews his own beer. These people are kind and friendly making this a great experience.

We visited with a group for the tour on a Saturday. Free tour and it is really one large room. I found it interesting but others really didn't care. If you are into distilling or mechanics, go for the tour. Otherwise just wander into the tasting room.
They produce gin, vodka, rye and bourbon as well as several small batch specialties. I tasted the gin, rye and bourbon. I found the bourbon and rye had traditional taste and drink...I liked them both. Gin, normally my favorite, was a little strong on cucumber and other aromatics rather than a big hit of juniper...I did like it but prefer others. In any event, I went home with a few bottles to remember the place. I recommend you stop by, too.
My next visit will be in the summer when I can enjoy the deck.

We have been coming here since they opened. We live in the Des Moines area so when we are in the area this is the first place we stop at. Our home bar is made up with mostly MRDC products. We had Cade as our bartender on a Saturday afternoon; he is young and fairly new (about a month) and friendly and talkative. Good kid. We tried quite a few of their cocktails: Buffalo Bill with MRDC bourbon, maple syrup and flamed orange peel;Getting Figgy: MrDC rye whiskey, apple cider, vanilla, fig syrup. They make all their own syrups. The Dude: Iowish, coffee liqueur and coffee concentrate. Just to name a couple of the drinks we tried. They have quite a listing of cocktails to try (over 20). They now offer a pizza to nosh on while having a drink. We decided to give it a try. It is a frozen product (Mama Bosso) and we got the one that had sausage, red peppers and shaved parm on it. It was actually really good!!! The crust had a good chew to it, the sauce was good and we would try another flavor next time. And the price for it wasn't too bad at $10. This is a must stop (they do offer tours on the hour) and try their bourbon, rye , vodka and their seasonal spirits. You won't go wrong.

Small place, but high quality product! Ended up bring 2 bottles home, and really, really have enjoyed it. Was surprised to see a distillery... and happy to visit.

Distillery tour is interesting, but the highlight of the tour is the tasting room (isn't it always!). They produce Gin, Vodka and most recently a blended American Whiskey. All are good... but pricey!

My wife and I dropped in to the Cody Street Bar while on a brief visit to Iowa. It was a fabulous surprise. I am a bit of a cocktail snob, but the cocktails were excellent. Management appears to have placed a great deal of attention on the small details of making a great cocktail—and a bit of show that does with it. This bar could easily be in any big city charging twice the price. I hope the folks in Eastern Iowa know how lucky they are.
The only slight negative—and it isn’t the bar’s fault—is that Iowa’s silly liquor laws prevent them from using alcohol that isn’t distilled on site. That limits some of the options and creativity. Still, well worth a visit. Kudos!

Tasty, hand crafted liquors! Great cocktails too! Along with fancy mixing techniques. To bad this is 400 miles from home! Great bartending by Ashley! My first choice was a Lost Pilot. Glad I wasn't navigating that night!

Corn is being put to exceptional use at Mississippi River Distilling Company! This local operation has the friendliest staff. We received an impromptu tour and learned that the grains come from a 25 mile radius and that bottling days are run by volunteers. Each bottle is labeled with a batch and bottle number so that people, like myself, can look up your bottle to learn about the farmer who provided the grains and the folks that helped to bottle your libation.
The tasting room has old-world charm displaying local artists' works. I honestly could have spent more time here and will be going back for more 'Iowish' - their take on and Iowan Irish Cream!

This place was really nice. But was kind of distracted by other people coming in and out of the store. Also as the person was giving the tour, some of the employees just stared at you. Felt kind of uncomfortable.

After visiting (aka tasting) at the Wide River Winery tasting room in Le Claire, we strolled right down the street to the Mississippi River Distilling Company to do the same. We missed the distillery tour, but were able to join the group in the tasting room to try some of their product, including rum and gin. Their location is right along the water with big windows overlooking the Mississippi. You can purchase bottles of their liquour, including Cody Road Whisky and River Pilot Vodka. As a random side note, they also sell meat straws for your bloody Mary's which are also made locally in Iowa. I had to bring a pack back for my sister who couldn't make the trip.
There isn't a category for Family (adults) who like to eat and drink, so I'm marking this as a "friends" trip. With my friends being my mom and aunt.
Cheers!

We loved this tour! Lots of information without getting boring. I thought I knew vodka but learned lots more. The tastings were very generous and they even had mixers to go with the tastings. The vodka is very good and it was a great way to taste and learn.

Visited the distillery and had an excellent tasting experience. The tour in minimal but includes tastings. We invested in a bottle of Bourbon and a bottle of the Cherry Liqueur. Bought a flight of the bourbon drinks to sample-wish they bottled the cocktails-very tasty! Said the first Fri of every month they host a free tasting with food as well. Should you be in the area at that time you should definitely check it out. Vodka, Gin, Bourbon, Whiskey, and several liqueurs are all produced here.

I enjoy local distilleries and this one does not disappoint. From Vodka to Bourbon, sample in the tasting room and select which you liked best. The Strawberry Vodka was my favorite. And ingredients are local. It is a new facility nicely laid out with a short tour. The tour is not required for sampling - another plus when on a time crunch.

So disappointed in the customer service there! In town celebrating my mom's 60th birthday and my sister-in-laws 35th . Came in at the end of a tour not realizing it. The four of us wants to try two samples and the bartender was not very helpful. It was like we were discouraged because we miss the tour time :(.

Interesting, short tour of a small distillery and how they produce some of their unique products. There is a tasting at the end of the tour and a small gift shop.

Picked up a couple of bottles of bourbon which I enjoy from the distillery. They just came out with a peach liqueur which we sampled. My wife wanted a bottle so she could put on ice cream. The peach taste was WOW. At least try a sample of it when you are there.

We usually call a distillery or brewery visit a "drinking with strangers" activity. On Friday they open at 10 so we were the first visitors when they opened. This made it a drinking by ourselves visit. Enjoyed a few samples of the more interesting varieties they have. Really like the Apple cider rye whisky, a simple blend of barrel strength rye and fresh cider. Not too sweet and not syrupy at all. Ended up purchasing a bottle of that plus a peach spirit and a Iowish Cream that tastes better than Bailey's. Small casual place. There were no tours at the time, too early, but they said we could walk around into the distilling area.

They provide free tours and tastings on the hour. The tour is very interesting as they explain how the distillery was started two years ago and how their products are made. At the end of the tour they provide tastings of their products. They are limited by state law in how much they can serve. The first Friday of every month they are open in the evening and this has become a real social event! This is a great place to take family and friends visiting from out of town.

We love to hear how things are made so a free tour of the distillery was a must do! They are on the hour most hours, I believe.
Dave the tour guide was a no frills guy, who liked to tell it how it is so was very entertaining.
It takes about 20 minutes to hear how they make their vodka, gin, bourbon, rye and various flavored liquors. Then you get a sample. Try the Irish whiskey, it’s delicious.

You were stop #4 of 8 for us on our 4-state craft distillery tour this weekend!! You tied for 1st place overall in our book! What a phenomenal facility including the production room and the beautiful bar. Loved the tour and the drink menu!! Plus what a view!! Overall, you're doing the craft distillery thing the right way! Keep it up, and good luck!!

The tour is short and sweet but entertaining. The drinks were great—excited to try our Iowish Whisky and Iowish cream. 🙂

The Distilling Company had just opened its cocktail house when we arrived. We took had great tour and learned how this distilling company is all about the community and recycling. Fantastic! Standing at the bar for drinks following, we kinda got ignored for a while, but they are new to serving, so will cut them some space on that. Bought T-shirts, and several bottles of whiskey we sampled during the tour

Make you feel right at home the minute you walked in the door. Explained the procedure for each flavor they produce, and what they do with the by products after they take the premium products to make their booze. Then we into the tasting room, small drinks but seemed limitless. Bought 3 bottles and we don't drink!!!!!

Stumbled on this absolute gem of a place. The tour is informative and fun and the the bar is relaxing with a chance to sample the many products. The Maple Bourbon and Iowish Cream are spectacular. Outstanding staff.

My husband and I stopped for a quick tour and had a great time! We had a 16 year-old, 5 and 3 year old with us. All kids were great. I think we were there about 30 minutes. Interesting story with the tour, free samples and bought a few tasty bottles to take home! Highly recommend!

I've never toured a distillery before, and I found the explanation to be very interesting.
I also loved seeing how the building right on the river had been converted to a distillery. Also the tasting room was beautiful with reclaimed barnwood, a great view of the river, and local artists work rotated on the wall.
Our tour guide was knowledgable, friendly, and helped my wife who had never tried whiskey understand the different kinds.

My wife and I visited on a Friday afternoon. We were greeted by Matt ( he loves his job) we did the tasting. In a word awesome! We had a couple of their signature cocktails... incredible. The bartender really how to make quality drink. Just wish the place was closer.

We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was only one bartender. So wait was long and outside tables were not cleared of empty glasses. To be a success they need waiters to take table orders and clean up. Drinks were reasonable.

Owners give a tour that is free and includes a tasting of the vodkas, gin and bourbons made. They use all local ingredients and suppliers (within a 25 mile range) and are committed to the local economy. The strawberry vodka was wonderful with lemonade! Stop in and enjoy!

Excellent distillery with tours and tastings. They produce bourbon, vodka and other liquors. Very good small batch quality.

The tour is interesting, and did I mention FREE? You don't have to walk far for the tour, and the owners give an interesting talk about making the spirits.

Biggest ears all the time and they are extremely knowledgeable about what they provide. If you have younger kids, if they do get kind of bored but the tour guide does a great job talking to them and answering their questions as well.
They make a really good vodka that is extremely smooth and give great suggestions on mixing it with drinks. Their bourbon is very well as well!

We absolutely loved it here. It was recommended by a friend, free taste testing and tours. Loved learning about the process. Purchased a lot of goodies here.

The place is clean and very informative of how it's made and you can have samples at the end of the tour

The tour was pretty good. The tours start on the hour when open. It was nice hearing the wife provide the information on their facilities and the process. The tasting at the end made me want to buy some before leaving. The Rye Whiskey was phenomenal! I also tried the Strawberry Vodka (seasonal) and it was truly amazing. I ended up getting 2 bottles before I left. It was a completely FREE tour!

We stopped-in to look and ended up taking the tour. It was given by the owners. It was very interesting to learn about their way of distilling spirits there. They seem very committed to using local ingredients to impart unique flavors into their products. Afterwards, it was fun to go into the tasting room and learn first-hand how they tasted. They had just released their seasonal "Big Peach" liquor and it was delicious. A bottle of spirits would be a great souvenir of the day. Well worth the time for a drinking-age group. I would not recommend it for teens or children.

We visited LeClaire over the weekend, as a day trip to Iowa. Stopped in at Mississippi River Distilling Company for a free tour. Tours run on the hour, and you just walk in, so it was a great convenience. Tour of the grounds was great, tour guide (owner) was great, good personality, well spoken, fun and informative. After the tour, free samples were offered, definitely tried out some of their spirits, and left with a bottle! Great find along the main street of LeClaire. Highly recommend visiting.

Located just north of the Quad Cities, The Mississippi River Distilling Company is definately worth a stop. As soon as you enter the building with beautiful views of the River, you'll be surprised that the structure is "new" although composed almost entirely of "old" recycled materials. You'll be greeted by a very personable guide, who presents a short, consise tour followed by very tasty, complimentary samples. You'll probably want to end your tour with something to take home!

Stopped in on a rainy afternoon for a cocktail and found a great local distillery! I love the way Mississippi River finds local farmers and volunteers to create their delicious bourbon. Views were great, and the cocktails were fantastic. A must visit if you're wandering Le Claire. Tours are free on the hour and include a sample.

Favorite place for drinks!!! The choices of their mixed drinks are AWESOME. It is fun to try different ones but I tend to keep ordering my favorite. We have been going there since they first opened and have never been disappointed. Great service and drinks.

This was a nice very little distillery with very high quality liquor. The tour (which was every hour on the hour) was about 30 minutes with a tasting afterwards. The tour is short but describes the alchohol process in detail. The tasting allows you to taste all of the liquor they have and even provides mixers to add to the flavor of the liquor. This place was very good and the liquor was great.

Nice tour and informative. Samples were very generous and what a great treat for the taste buds!
Purchased a bottle and it didn’t last long.
Very clean and neat operation, truly a group effort.
Locally sourced ingredients!

I'm a fan of the Cody Road bourbon and I have stopped in at this place twice. It's a nice little place and they offer a free tour that is interesting. The guide was entertaining and friendly. The tour also includes a visit to the tasting room. They have some cool tshirts and other souvenirs, as well as selling their products. Nice stop. I recommend it.

Who knew that we would come across this distillery while visiting the Quad Cities. They were quite informative about the processes used to make vodka, gin, whisky, and bourbon. We were able sample these items, and boy were they smooth. I'm not much of a whisky drinker, but I was totally impressed with the smoothness. We bought their season item of Big Peach liqueur to share with friends back home, and everyone loved it!

If you go to Le Claire Iowa to us this is a definite place to stop. This was a free short tour with taste testing of their products. It is nice to see a small business trying to make it & just a nice atmosphere. It is really interesting how they started & using local farm products for making whiskeys.

We were in town visiting family. We made a day of Cody Road. This was our first stop. The staff was very friendly. Their tasting room is in the back and along the river. They have a view of the river. They have a wide range of spirits. Many are very good. Some are unique. The tasting was free. There didn't seem to be a limited to what you could taste. Overall a great experience. Glad we stopped by. We bought a few bottles to bring back to Texas. Worth your time. I believe they also do tours but we just did a tasting and talked to the guy for a long time about the area.

Aside from taking the tours and tasting the samples, we've stopped here a couple of times just to run in and purchase items direct from the distillery. The Cody Road Bourbon is pretty good. So is the honey whiskey they make, which is a special run when the honey is ready. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Take the tour, it doesn't take long and it is interesting to learn about their use of local producers as they make their products.

A group of us toured this small distillery, located on the banks of a quaint old Mississippi River steamboat town, Le Claire. Our tour leader/receptionist/gift shop seller/Tasting Room hostess(one-and-the-same!) was full of knowledge and very personable. She is quite well-trained in the distilling processes of their various spirits. It's a fun way to spend part of an afternoon.

Nice little distillery with a very informative and friendly tour guide. Learned all about the different liquors offered and their distilling processes and even about the bottling. They have a free tasting following the tour to sample the goods.

Very nice place. Free tours at the top of the hour starting at noon and is only 20 minutes. Samples available. Locally sourced products and they recycle too.

They make Vodka and Gin here and give a half hour one-room tour, then give out samples. The strawberry vodka and coffee liqueur are real good! The samples are small but they probably don't want a bunch of buzzed tourists staggering around town! LOL

This was a great addition to our day trip to Le Claire. The tour wasn't long as it was a small distillery but the staff was informative and friendly. Found a new favorite drink when doing the free tasting after the tour.

Cute little place. We took the tour and the tasting, very informative. They just opened a small bar area where we tried a couple of different drinks. Also they've added an outdoor deck area where you can order food from surrounding restaurants and enjoy all of it with your drink of choice while taking in the view of the Mississippi River.

Popped into this inviting looking shop. Were warmly greeted by the owners. We didn't take the tour, as were were pressed for time. Bought the Iowish Whiskey and Strawberry Vodka. Our whiskey drinker was impressed with the smoothness and the vodka has yet to be enjoyed. The owner's suggestion was to add to lemonade and if you wish, fresh strawberries. Yum O!
Fun knowing that the corn and strawberries they use are Iowa grown!

Had a great time and the Distillery sampling their spirits. Their Bourbons and Vodka's were awesome and my husband is very picky and he liked them. The Iowan Creme was better than Bailey's. Ended up taking a few bottles home to last until our next visit.

Le Claire is a cute little town on the Mississippi River in Iowa and right next to I-80.
Many gift & antique shops, along with the wine shops. Stopped at the Mississippi River Distilling Co. and had an interesting tour by one of the owners who told us how the entire company uses the local resources and supplies for it's business. Yeah.
We had lunch at the Crane & Pelican which is an old mansion converted into a restaurant with an excellent gourmet flair.
The town also has a Buffalow Bill Museum and Antique Archaeology home of the "American Pickers" TV show. I expected to see a huge warehouse type store, but it turned out to be a small old gas station. We did see a few items that we have seen them purchase on the show.
We toured the town on a weekday to avoid the crowds on the weekend, and it was worth it.

We enjoyed our experience here. We stopped in for cocktails our first night in town. The bartender was friendly and the drinks were yummy. We went back the next day for the tour and of course purchase several bottles to take home. Very interesting tour and tasting was helpful in picking what we liked.

Was visiting a friend down the river in Bettendorf and he drove us up to LeClaire. It's a nice little river town that's visitor friendly. We had to go into the distilling company if for no other reason but to taste their wares. They provide a short tour, tastings and sales. If you like bourbon or specialty alcohol you should stop in.

We were in LeClaire for a family reunion and walked here for the tour. The tour is about 30 minutes and they emphasize the fact that they use all locally grown products to make their products. The alcohol is hand bottled and corked and you can even track information about your bottle online. After the tour you are allowed to sample the products and I tried the vodka with a splash of blood orange Italian soda. It was excellent and if we hasn't had to get on a plane to bring it home we would have bought some.
If you are in LeClaire for the day stop here and check out their tour.

This place has a great story and you do need to make it a stop when you're visiting Le Claire. The people were all very friendly and open about answering questions about what they do and why they do it that way. They are big-time serious about keeping everything local, up to and including the artwork on their walls and a really informative video loop you can watch while you wait for the tour. I appreciate that. They weren't in production the day we visited but the tour guide still gave a really good and energetic explanation.
If we had fallen in love with their product this review would have been 5 stars but I have to confess, the sampling didn't bowl us over. The bourbon is very smooth and drinkable but their vodka and gin (our go-to liquors) weren't really to our taste. Different strokes for different folks I guess because they have won plenty of awards. If you've never visited a distillery before this is a great one to go see it up close, and if you already know how it works, go anyway because they really are a local feel-good story and it's nice to see there are folks who still do business the old-fashioned way. Oh yeah the view of the river from their tasting room is pretty spectacular too.

I took a tour of this place while on a business trip, cool place, owner was funny and interesting, very clean and new, and you could taste test if you wanted at the end.

The volunteer was the best customer service this place had! She was helpful and we bought the peach liquor and the Irish cream because they were both good, but they were the only ones we were allowed to sample. The other employees (2 men) were less than helpful or welcoming.

We didn't take the tour (time issue on our part). The bartender was very friendly and helpful! Drinks were wonderful and the view and indoor/outdoor seating had an awesome view of the Mississippi. I would definitely stop in again!

Took the tour. It was very informative. The gentleman giving the tour answered our questions without any hesitation. I would definitely go back. They gave us samples at the end of the tour to taste. Didn't have any of the strawberry vodka, but the peach was good. Told us when the things they were out of would be available and where the stores were in our area was to purchase their products.

Great fun - enjoyed the tour of the distillery - and hearing about their business - Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoyed a few free samples of the their products - I enjoyed the Cody Road Bourbon and Honey Bourbon and I did buy a bottle. The tour is free - and it is another delightful addition to downtown LeClaire - glad to support a local business - great job.

We stopped by during a weekend getaway and I have to say this place is pretty cool. Set on the banks of the Mississippi with an excellent view. Very comfortable atmosphere and a wide variety of tasty cocktails. We took the tour and Sarah, the tour guide was great! I would highly recommend the Cody Road Single Barrel Rye and Single Barrel Bourbon.

We had some friends in town from Chicago, so we took them to Le Claire. After walking around the area, we knew they would enjoy a nice visit and tour of the Mississippi River Distilling Company. Our friends truly enjoyed the small town feel, and the tour was excellent. This is a very interesting place which has so much to offer.
We always enjoy taking people here.

The tour was interesting. The tasting was even better! Bourbon, vodka and more. Check this place out! Our mistake was not bring home the peach vodka.

We happened to catch a tour as it started. Nice clean establishment. Good, informative tour. The samples afterward had us purchasing a bottle of Cody Road and we will certainly be back for a First Friday function!

This was a really neat place. the old fashion was one of the best I have ever had. A great view over the river. indoor and outdoor seating. I just opened one of the bottles I bought and the rye was very smooth and great flavor.

We highly enjoyed the very informative and intriguing FREE tour. It lasts about 20 minutes, (held on the hr from 1-4pm).
Be sure to allow 15 min extra to watch the video of their inception in the lobby. I'm glad we watched it BEFORE the tour. It made the tour easier to follow and understand. It shares the history, details, and how far they've come in the 5 short years since opening.
They are located in the historic section of town, right against the MS River. It's very easy to find.
They provide free samples of all of their products following the tour. As someone who doesn't appreciate hard alcohol, I was pleasantly surprised to truly enjoy some of them. They also have Italian soda, root beer, etc., for those who choose not to partake in the alcohol.
We were very impressed to hear they use local sources to create their products and souvenir inventory (grains, etched glasses and stitched caps, etc.).
The owners are locals and they make you feel like you're a local too. They treat everyone who comes through their door very special and appreciated.

Free tour and tasting room. A good explanation of the distillation process. Season unique spirits. Smooth bourbon

This Distillery has a great little bar and outdoor seating area! They have tours every hour on the hour with 2 tastings. The tour is free and worth hearing how this distillery was formed! You can also purchase items you taste on sight!

This was our second visit to this distillery. Since it is a one-room operation, it is possible to sit and listen to the very enthusiastic guide explain the distilling process. At the close of the "tour," we were invited to sample some of the products. I'm not a huge fan of the product, but we did buy a couple bottles of "Queen Bee Whiskey," a honey-infused whiskey that is pleasantly sweet.

Stopped in and had a flight of bourbon with my husband. Very tasty, bought some to take home, I wish they could ship but State law says no to that idea

We visited this little gem of a distillery on the banks of the Mississippi River.
It is a small operation but it is some of the best spirits I have ever had. An today I am a. Customer for life.
I will say it is a bit pricey but the quality is worth every cent.

The guide gives a brief 15 - 20 minute tour. All the guests get to sample one of the products. Within walking distance of American Picklers.

We stopped in and a tour was just starting. Love they use mostly locally grown ingredients along with local companies for their products. Had a flight of different types of liquor. Very nice!

This Distillery offers a free tours with free samples. Afterwards, you can purchase their products inside or outside (depending on the weather). It was very nice. I found the prices for samples and cocktails to be reasonable - however, the prices for the bottles were well above the norm. Don't let that deter you form checking this place out.

The owner does a great job meeting and interacting with guests. He takes you through the distillery and provides some information on how the vodka and bourbon is created. He also gives out some samples at the end of the tour.
I did have my children with me on this tour and they were all well behaved and listened. The owner was great while hosting other families with children. The tour is short and sweet!

They offer a free tour and tasting. The alcohol was very good and we ended up purchasing a few bottles. Very smooth flavor.

Cool local operation. Was given a personal tour and watched actual production work. This small distillery uses all local product. Best part- the tasting room. In a word, SMOOTH! Nice selection including Rye, bourbon, vodka, rum, and gin. What else do you need?

The free tour was interesting and informative. The tour guide was very funny and friendly. We would recommend stopping in for the tour and tasting. We are so happy we decided to stop. We did take he a bottle of the seasonal bottle of peach liquor. Great to add to some wine!

We stopped by the distillery during a road trip and had a great time. Our tour guide was very informative and made us laugh. I love that they use locally sourced ingredients to make all of their spirits. The tasting afterwards allowed us to sample some of their products. We ended up buying their honey whiskey (delicious by the way). Highly recommend for folks that are in the area!

Awesome place! Great atmosphere and neat heated huts outside. The drinks were sooo good and our server Madi was the best! Great experience and we will definitely be back!

Walked through the door and loved the smell of whiskey in the air. Asked and found out they don’t serve food, darn it! So it was off to find lunch somewhere else.
We returned before we left to take a tour of the distillery. It’s a small business so everything is in one room. You don’t have to walk around. Just stand and listen to the story of the distilling company and how they make the different items they sell.
When we were done, we received samples of two of the items they make there and they were both very good. I bought a bottle of the maple bourbon and am looking forward to giving that a try.
We will be back some evening with friends for drinks.

Before eating lunch at the Crane and Pelican, take a short (~30 - 45 minute) tour of the Mississippi River Distilling Company.
No reservations are required, just show up on the hour (between noon and 4:00) and walk in. The tour is a single room tour led by the owner Ryan, where you learn all about their story and the distilling process which is followed by a tasting session. All of their ingredients are grown within Iowa or nearby Illinois so they certainly support their local farmers.
You can samply their Bourbon, Vodka, Gin, and Whiskey as well as limited releases and purchase any of them on your way out.
The best part of their business is they offer a Custom Whiskey program where they make a 30 gallon barrel personally for you, allowing you to choose the grain, year, barrel, age, and proof. They also offer a "Whiskey School" and "Adopt-A-Barrel" program. While pricey, these are great ideas if you are a connoisseur of Whiskey and they are more than happy to answer any questions you have if interested.
Make the Mississippi River Distilling Company a stop if you are in LeClaire or passing through.

Someone at work mentioned this place...I'm glad she did it was my favorite part of our little getaway! Tour was not too long maybe half hour tops. Few samples and great recipe ideas. The whiskey here is really something. Never appreciated the process before!! Brought several bottles to bring home!

Stopped in here just to see what it was. Got a taste of their Gin and then ordered that Gin in their cocktail of the month, a Gin New Fashioned. It was SO good. They serve tasting flights as well. The bar is neat, the staff, friendly and helpful. The outside seating is lovely. I didn't take the tour because we were pressed for time, but it's FREE so I would think it would be worth it.

In town for a lunch at Sneaky Pete's, walked up the street and saw Mississippi River Distilling was offering tours on the hour from 12 Noon to 4 pm.
Ducked in and decided to join the group. It was given by an employee who said he has been around about 5 years, and our tour group was roughly 15 people.
The tour is 20 - 30 minutes long, and includes a tasting room session. He gave a pretty detailed explanation of their different products and explained each step of the process, showing off their equipment.
State law only allows them to give 2 ounces of product, but they make it worth while.
Everyone at the distillery was very friendly, even to my 11 year old who was welcomed to join - just not taste.

This trip was really fun. We did the tour and then taste tested the product. I am so impressed they use local grain. Their product is top notch. We will be going back to their monthly open houses to try other products as they become available. By the way, the tour is free and that is even better.

I was going to say this distilling company is a nice little addition to Le Claire and changed it to the Quad Cities. Along with our micro brews in the QC this is really great. I think it is a wonderful place to bring visitors, sample the gin, bourbon, and/or vodka and even buy a favorite. With American Pickers, this place, nice restaurants, gift shops and antique shops, this can make for an enjoyable afternoon.

We love this tour and the products they make. Everything is bought locally, and with conservation in mind. Great informal tour, and the product samples are a wonderful bonus. Come check it out on the First Friday of the month to sample recipes made with the liquors, as well as specialty drink samples made with their liquors. Perfect addition to an already charming downtown area!

We just went in to their Cody Road Cocktail House for a quick drink and WOW, their drinks are amazing! My husband got the Jalapeño Fineapple and it was DELICIOUS! (We are going to try to make this at home but I'm sure we won't get it close to as good as it was there.) I got the Aviation and it was sweet and yummy. Most drinks were around $10 each. The inside is relaxed and easy-going. Service was good. We walked around the inside a little to check out the distillery. Wish we had taken time for a tour or something.

This place has a ton of local charm to it. It is right on the Mississippi and they make as much of their product as they can with local components. Having been on several tours, this one felt the most natural and like we were just friends hanging out. I can’t believe the tour was free and included samples.
Their tasting room has great views and lots of interesting options for drinks. I would highly recommend coming here for a tour and to try some local alcohol.

I grew up a few miles from Le Claire and when I make it back home we like to stop in at the Distillery to buy our Honey whiskey and strawberry vodka, if it's in season. I am happy that our local liquor store in KS is starting to carry some of their bottles. They do offer tours which we do occasionally. A change I noticed this year is that they're selling cocktails and have outdoor seating.

We dropped in for a quick look and drink and it has a great outlook over the Mississippi River. Very friendly staff but I'm not much of a spirits man I'm afraid, I like my beer which they don't stock but well worth a drop in !

My husband LOVED this stop on our trip. Friendly folks, great information and tasting. Came home with several bottles of their goods.

I have been here on several trips to Iowa, and always leave with at least a bottle of Apple Pie, or Big Peach, and also the cream liqueur. The first time took the tour and did samples, now I try some new samples and make my choice. When I go to Iowa now I always try to stop in and say and get a supply of liqueur for myself. this is a great place and you can enjoy a view of the river, since they are right on the river. Give them a try and you will keep going back when you get the chance, just like me.

This distillery is in Le Claire, IA, and we paid it a visit in early August on our road trip on our way to Minnesota. We have been to distilleries in Scotland so it was nice to visit one on our vacation in the USA. It's open from 10 am but the tours start at noon. We joined one and we were quite a few on the tour. We were in one distilling room only and one of the owners talked about the company and the process. After we had the tasting in the tasting room. We tried three kinds of whisky, not much of each but it was enough. The tour was free of charge and there is a little gift shop as well.

The laws just changed in Iowa allowing distilleries to sell their product in a cocktail. We stopped in for a drink. Nice atmosphere that overlooks the river and friendly staff. They offer tours on the hour most of the day. The dry humor from the volunteer was enjoyable. The tour is basically an overview of how the company was started and a snippet of their products. I would say it's a good place to kill an hour and relax!

This place offers a free tour of the Disstillery and sells it products. All the indridents are from a 25 mile radius their products are amazing and are a very good price
In the bar they sell all their own products and they are very tasty with their own home made mixers I would recommend a visit here

I was impressed with the Whiskey. I sampled the honey and bought a bottle. Then I sampled the apple Annie whiskey and bought a bottle. I had to stop sampling. Worth the stop.

I love trying out new breweries and trying new beers. It was a very nice place. The view could not had been better. It was right on the water. Service was good and I liked the beers we selected. It’s a place you should definitely try while in LeClaire.

What a cool place! Very nice inside and excellent staff! Frankie was a great bartender. Super drinks and very friendly. Take the tour. Very neat to find out how truly local this place is.
Sampled several of their spirits. All very good. Their drink menu is expansive and everything we had was truly mixology. Very high quality.
A neat stop that sets itself apart from other local attractions. Make it a must do if you’re in town!

My (adult) son wanted to stop here so we did. It's a small distillery but it was fun and educational at the same time. THey are doing something for the community - they are green as well - and have a good product. The tour is fun and you of course get some samples at the end. I will come back for the First Friday event.
I've been to the Bacardi one in PR, but I had more fun here.

Stopped in here after reading about it on TA and was not disappointed. I actually went through it twice in a matter of 3 days since I went with two different groups and it was great both times! The first tour I took was led by one of the ladies that worked there and she did a great job. The second tour was led by Gary Burchette, one of the co-owners and he did a fantastic job and really gave some insight on their operation. It's great to see a local business like this succeed and to use local ingredients.
I won't say a whole lot about the tour so I don't spoil it for you but it is definitely worth it. At the end of the tour, you have an option to taste some of their products and purchase them as well. We would have loved to buy more than one bottle to bring home but were limited by luggage space. So...we will have to order it online. Be sure to taste the spirit of the month. This month was honey whiskey made with 200lbs of local honey. Outstanding! Next up is a strawberry vodka made with 2000lbs of local strawberries.
The staff at the distillery were very polite and also did a great job of telling us about other local businesses we should see. I'm glad to see they are doing what they can to make their community a success (I grew up in the area and it has changed quite a bit). The chocolate store also uses some of the distillery spirits in their truffles. TRY THEM!!

The tour is free!!! Our guide was friendly and enthusiastic. They are very proud of the fact that they support other local businesses. They are generous with the pour in the tastings bar. The best part in my opinion is they offer mixers if you do not want to taste your sample straight. They had lemonade, blood orange soda, and bloody Mary mix. I bought a bottle of their strawberry vodka on my way out. Make the stop. You will be happy that you did!

Nice information on distillation. Plenty of tasting choices . Good local Business. Staff were helpful and informative

Fun place to stop in and relax with a fun drink. They have so many drinks to try. I think the favorite was the raspberry sour. I had a tiki chi chi and another in our group had a peach drink. It has wonderful views and the service was good. They have a punch card system and we decided we would be back to try other drink options.

Close to home and decided to visit on a Saturday. The tour is really fun and the sampling after is even better. They have a great selection but I definitely prefer the bourbon. We hit the gift shop right after which had a variety of souvenirs.

This place comes with great drinks, fun conversation, as well as a beautiful view and not just talking about their bartenders!
You have to go and try their selection Of drinks or to take a tour!
This place sits right on the river with both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a great drink menu and have figured out how to have flavorful drinks for any pallet!
They do have pizza however they allow you to bring in your own food which is a plus.

You wouldn't think that a tour of a distillery would be the best place to take children, but it was an enjoyable, educational tour that had my children engaged the whole time. It is a free tour, and if you have well behaved kids (mine were 11 & 12 at the time) don't hesitate on taking them with.

We only had time for a short stop and did not take the tour. We were promptly greeted by a friendly staff member as we were looking over the products for sale. We asked to try a sample of the Iowish Cream Liqueur and promptly bought a bottle after tasting! Very good with hint of coffee, cinnamon & vanilla. The building is in a nice location along the Mississippi River. We thought prices seemed reasonable.

FREE. Owner gives a short tour at the start of the hour. I found the tour interesting and even asked some silly questions at the end, which were answered in a fun way. I admitted that I was not a whiskey drinker, so I was instructed on how to do shots of whiskey properly to avoid "the burn". I also sampled various vodkas, straight and with mixes. Several free samples were available and it was darn good stuff! If you purchase a bottle from them, you can take the bottle's unique number, punch it in on the website and find out everything about your bottle - where the ingredients were farmed to who bottled it that day! Interesting stuff! This was probably the highlight of my day in Le Claire, but one of the many small joys of the day.

We went to this distillery while passing through Le Claire. The owners are extremely proud of their place and product and should be! It is beautiful, the product is great and it's all from the heartland! I love that everything they use to make their products is local from the grain to the barrels! Very cool worth stopping. The tour is short and informative.

Staff were Friendly and knowledgeable. Had to wait a bit for the top of the hour tour. Good tasting stuff! nice family operation

We didn't take the tour, but did check out the tasting room. Everyone was very friendly & informative. We did make a few purchases.

I would have given it 4 marks if they were able to sell me the strawberry vodka they made my drink out of. When I asked if I could purchase I bottle, I was told no, they happen to find a box in the basement and that was all they had until May. The drink was good, the staff was nice, but when paying 8.00 for a drink, I would have wished they would have asked the other patron to turn down his phone so the entire bar area didn’t have to listen to his hockey game. We will try it again, when in the area.

Visiting Le Claire to see Antique Archaeology, and stopped at the Distillery. They have a huge variety of drinks to try. The bartenders were very helpful and made some great drinks for us. The Distillery tour was informative and enjoyable. We will be back next year when we visit Iowa for another Girls Road trip of Iowa.

We enjoyed a short tour of distillery, learned about their mission statement and of course loved the tastings, fun thing to do.
Came back with a smooth vodka infuse with real strawberries, perfect for summer cocktails
Good Spirits !!
Went on the tour which explained how they make the whiskey and other spirits. Then on to the tasting room. The bourbons and ryes were very smooth and really good.
