Well done mural, interesting facts, and picture. Nice views of river if it's not up and gates are open.

Having had no idea that this many famous people were from Missouri, I was fascinated to see the various areas and things for which these people are known.

Our flood wall is not only pretty with murals and the history of this area, it is holding back the mighty Mississippi River. It can hold back up to 53 feet of floodwater. (Just recently it held back 48.86 feet of water, when the river crested). It was built many years ago, but is still serving it's purpose very well. If you visit the downtown Cape Girardeau area this is a must see!

Some of the information was missing so weren't sure who or what they did for Missouri. The area behind the wall was in need of some clean up and weed removal

I really take this for granted living in the area, but the entire downtown area and river walk are a unique way to spend the day. Surrounded by great shopping and restaurants and a few steps away from a close up view of the Mississippi. The train even comes through once in a while! Also offers a great view of the Bill Emerson Bridge which shines at night. Just be aware of surroundings... especially depending on the time of day of your visit. I definitely do not recommend the river at night!

Located at the Worlds only inland Cape. Enjoy a brief walking tour (approximate 15 minutes) reliving Missouri historical figures painted on the floodwall that holds back the mighty mississippi river from breaching the Old downtown.

The wall is a nice enough place to take a walk, but it is just a set of murals with little else. Often the people represented don't have the most direct ties to Missouri. Nice, yes. If you're already in Cape, see it. I wouldn't take a trip there for it.

Great place to see and do. Great history of cape Girardeau! The painting is well done and descriptive. Children and adults would enjoy. Must be able to walk on flat surface for 3-4 blocks.

We happened upon the wall while exploring Cape. This little attraction is done very well. Interesting look into the past even if you're not a big history bluff. We walked the wall and then walked back along the river walk...nice night

Just a collection of amateurish, faded murals. One one side you stand along a railroad and/or asphalt parking lot; the other side is just cement that the beating sun has been heating all day. Foul!

We visited downtown and viewed that amazing wall! We checked out the shops and sports bars and had a great time!

The Missouri Wall of Fame is not an event, per se, but large wall art you can view as you are walking along Water Street in Cape Girardeau. As the name implies, the large painted walls highlight famous folks from Missouri!

Very interesting place
You discover the the local history and curious
You also can see tehe neiborhood hs tha central área

The Missouri Wall of Fame serves it's purpose well. It keeps the Mississippi River from flooding the downtown Cape Girardeau area. This is located in a really cool part of the city. There are various shops and restaurants to enjoy, along with the old buildings. (Many have been totally refurbished, while keeping their original designs intact). The flood wall has a lot of information about our city, and state.

Visited the wall with out of town relatives. It felt good to point out all the great names from Missouri

A bit of a walk but it would have been no problem if it wasn't so hot that day. Very interesting paintings and a great view of the river. A good place to sit & watch the river also.

The Missouri Wall of Fame is very much like murals you see on other leeves (for example, Paduckah KY). Its better than the plain concrete, and a nice addition to a historic downtown. Personally I think the murals in Paduckah and far superior (and larger), but this is still a decent attraction in Cape. Its nice to walk along the river, and see the trains passing by.

It's so good to see the Mississippi River again. The flood gates had been closed since sometime in March, due to all the rains and heavy flooding. The Missouri Wall of Fame is just so very interesting to see, but it also serves it's main purpose, to hold back the mighty river, when it's at or above flood stage.

Love looking at all of the history down town
Loved the Wall of Fame and the artwork, I am handicapped and enjoyed being able to see all of the wall in a car not having to walk

So what do you do when you are trying to revitalize a riverfront downtown? A wall. The Cape is clearly trying to do something with a downtown that has seen better days..this wall is a part of it,

Before heading to Nashville. Each panel of the mural is accompanied by the story behind it. A light rain curbed our stay to 20 minutes and only a few panels. A large sidewalk assures access for all.

They have done the history of the region in a series of HUGE murals along the flood wall downtown. The murals not only seem to project out from the wall, but you can see the shadows produced by the projections.
Ten foot high by twenty foot wide gates allow you access to walk along the river itself.
The city has put a lot of effort into refurbishing the area.

Nice walkway by the river. The murals are super. I loved reading about the history of the area, and the famous people. The area was very clean and tourist friendly.

I was completely amazed by these panels painted on the town's floodwall by the Mississippi. Who thought up these pictures? - they're great, and each has an explanation sign. The quality and drama in each history panel is excellent - and there's actually humor too, and things to hunt for, like the kids having the turtle races or the fish swimming under the flooded car. The artist even painted himself in, up a ladder, working on a section. I had ignored this mural in past trips because I thought it would be boring - big mistake! It's well worth the time to stroll down the street and see these things.

While much better than the truly abysmal murals that came before it (locally called as the "Wall of Shame") these murals are nothing special and barely earn my personal qualification of "art".
The close proximity of train tracks, a street and parking lots make it difficult to appreciate the paintings at an appropriate distance and without obstruction.
These murals (again mainly replaced from the TERRIBLE originals) are a response to the mainly excellent examples on the Ohio River flood wall in Paducah, Kentucky.
While slightly better than bare concrete I find nothing inspiring and guests (both from the U.S.A. and other countries) are unimpressed in both walking and driving tours.

We enjoyed the wall of fame very much and took our time admiring each section. This was an unscheduled stop for us as our riverboat had to go South rather than North due to a damaged lock but we saw murals in several cities.

The wall accurately depicts history and early life in Missouri, and there are images of famous folks who were Missourians! Each time I visit, I see something that I don't remember having seen the last time. Kudos to the painters who participated and to those who did the planning! This is definitely a "must see"!

Many wall along the waterfront have been painted by different artists depicting people places and things to do with the Cape. Truly interesting to see.

This was a great walk downtown along the river, and along the flood retaining wall. The artwork goes on for about a half a mile. It was fun reading about all the famous people that came from Missouri. I especially liked the flood door that you can open and close it was open and then you could walk down by the river.

Interesting murals give significant events of area over hundreds of years; others honor famous persons who were born or lived in Missouri. Plenty of convenient free parking on weekend we were there. Also within walking distance to restaurants.

Hard to miss if you visit downtown Cape Girardeau. This is a very long sea wall that has been painted by local artist. You will walk along the east side on water street and read plaques that provide the history behind all the paintings. A must visit if you find yourself in Cape Girardeau, Mo. I-55 is only 1 mile away.

We loved walking down the wall and seeing all the cool people coming from Missouri. Public facilities would have been appreciated.

Lots of Missouri history is depicted on this Wall located on the banks of the Mississippi River near downtown Cape Girardeau. The left portion of the wall depicts events in Missouri history, while the right portion contains the likenesses of many famous people with Missouri roots - actors, politicians, athletes and others. The wall seems to be well-maintained and is very colorful. We were able to view the wall by driving beside it, although if we had had more time, we could have parked and walked the wall, which would have afforded us the opportunity to read more about the people and events depicted. If we are ever in Cape Girardeau again, we will try to allot more time to enjoying this attraction.

My husband & I went to look around downtown & decided to see it. It was very interesting with lots of information about the town & river. Then enjoying the beauty of the Mississippi River. A must see!!!

I love how locals painted the history for all to see and educate on the walls. It made the blah concrete walls a site for tourists and locals alike to visit and be proud of.

The murals on the flood wall are nicely done and carry historical information - enough, but not too much. It is a pleasant way to spend a half hour or so as you stroll through history.

Super cool to see all the wonderful art work painted on this 1/4mile or so wall. Great history lesson.

we where there in the 1970s late super nice city then well i don t know much else my wife loved walking in the river took lots of photos

Great series of murals that go into great detail about Missouri and especially Southeast Missouri history. Well maintained and easy to get to.

A definite must see when touring The Cape. The Missouri Wall of Fame & Mississippi River Tales Mural is interesting & informative. Begin at Independence & Water Sts., & you may be able to walk through an open floodgate to view the "Great River." It is sectioned off in about 5 year increments, & there are interpretive plates at each section. See if you can find the portraits that DO NOT have their names written next to them, then use the plates to find out who they are. Keep the kids in the game. :-> Also, find the years for high water marks on the flood wall. Amazing to think that it holds back the "Father of All Waters."

This is always a nice walk to take while in downtown Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Lots of history about Missouri on this wall. Nearby restaurants are plentiful, too.

The beautiful drawings on the Mississippi river flood wall in Cape Girardeau, MO depict many aspects of history not only for our local area but for the state of Missouri. Have taken many family and friends to see this wall over the years, everyone enjoys this part of their visit.

If you have to have a flood wall--and they do, you might as well dress it up. The murals were a nice piece of history.

I was visiting with my elderly uncle and he wanted to go and watch river traffic. So we went down to the river front. I enjoyed the murals painted on the flood wall. They are very interesting and tell the story of this area and it history well.
There are benches on the river side which is nice for older folks and normally you don't have to wait long to see traffic on the river. Makes one realize how important the old Mississippi River is to commerce.
This is well worth visiting and near the old part of town with many shops, restaurants,
other things of interest to see and do.

Been to see this multiple times very informative and some interactive options. Generally clean and occasional graffiti on signs along walkway but usually does not last long. One trip I saw graffiti on Monday and Wednesday I went back and it was gone probably kids playing pranks.

This mural stretches for several blocks in old downtown Cape on the flood wall that was built several years ago to contain the Mississippi. If you go down to the edge of the river, you will drive or walk along this wall to get to the opening that lets you on to the levee. There are placards every 20 or 30 feet that tell you what is in front of you.
You will be surprised at some of the famous people who are Missourians, I promise.
While you're there, walk through the opening (which closes when it floods!) and down the levee to the water.
Downtown Cape is fun to poke around in.
This wall provides some great photo opportunities.

I walk along Water Street quite often. The mural is very well done and does a great job of telling the story of Cape Girardeau. There is a rich and varied history in the area. My only disappointment is the condition of some of the signage. I am also looking forward to the area facing Water Street developing some quaint places to get a soft drink or a snack as you are watching. Some days there are vendors. However, if you go on Sunday in the warmer weather, make sure to take water or an umbrella as the walk can get rather warm.

Interesting walk down the riverfront and an excellent face lift for the ugly flood wall. The mural tells the history of Cape Girardeau and the Mississippi River.

Representation of Famous people born in Missouri, names are included to help jog history memories. Only thing to watch for is to stay off the railroad tracks, this is a busy BNSF set of tracks.

Walking along the Mississippi River in downtown Cape Girardeau, came upon this outstanding muriel painted on the flood wall on the shoreline. Very talented artists decorated this wall, that could have been an eyesore otherwise.

I always enjoy bringing out of town guests to see this! The mural is beautiful, the history is interesting, and it's always fun seeing the tow boats pushing barges up and down the Might Mississippi River!

Found this on TripAdvisor and was very educational. Learned a lot of things we hadn’t realized. We walked along the other side of the mural and a couple of artists were on scaffolding and in a cherry picker painting on the other side. One of them was one of the artists that had done the original mural.

As we walked along the sidewalk by the train tracks we looked and the wall of fame and we had not realized how many Missourians had made history.

What an original use of the sea wall. The artwork is amazing. The historical pictorials explicitly display the history of Missouri and its development. The famous folk from Missouri are very recognizable. You could spend several hours here just reading the signage. Great views of old man river as well. A splendid stop

Wall mural along river. Can easily drive in front of it if don’t want to get out of car. Interesting portraits. Cute shopping area nearby.

I was running by the wall halfway through a 20-mile training run. On a run this long, it's always good to have something nice to look at. There were many names and faces I recognized, and many I didn't. I thought that it needed to be updated, because Sheryl Crow is not up there.

Wall of Fame is well done and the artwork is supported with info stands that provide thumbnail info for all persons portrayed on the wall. Sections depicting various eras of the city's history are north of the artwork of the individuals.

If you are in Cape Girardeau, this is something you don't want to miss. The paintings and history are quite good and it dresses up the levee wall.

The paintings on the wall itself were very good, but the informational kiosk scattered out along the walk gave a lot of very interesting history and background information related to the paintings. A couple of the kiosk were in need of repair, but all in all it was an interesting way to spend some time while in the area.

Nice walking tour of the famous folks from Missouri. With this being our bicentennial year it made it even more interesting.

Very colorful. Interesting that those portrayed are Missouri natives. Not what I would call refined representations. Do I recall that they formerly more 2-colors only?

Having lived in Cape Girardeau in the '80's and early '90's, I couldn't miss going downtown to the river walk while visiting recently. I was surprised at the Missouri Wall of Fame since it wasn't there when I lived in Cape. It is a great history lesson and well done.

any business associates I bring to Cape Girardeau I make sure to take them to the Wall of Fame. It even surprises Missouri residents all the famous people from the State

If you get the chance be sure and check the wall out it is a great scene to look at, and the gallery is a great place to go in and see as well.

Loved all the murals. Beautiful and it mint condition. Took numerous pictures and have enjoyed looking at them over and over.

Either with the kids or just your special one a neat place to stroll along the great Mississippi. Oh and if your playing Pokemon Go you will get a special treat the whole street is a Pokestop. My wife and I spoke with several friendly people, stopped for a window ice cream and enjoyed the history lesson (posted on the wall), the ambiance and each others company. Lots of other places around to visit ie pubs, in the evening, little shops during the day

The Wall of Fame is a nice addition to a visit to the river. The details of the wall provide some interesting details on famous Missourians. Worth a few more min of time if you are downtown, not something I would go way out of my way to see.

We really enjoyed the walk. Learned a lot about the area. In particular we were curious as to whether Missouri was a Confederate State or a Union State. Never did quite answer that for us. Turns out - both! Anyway it was a pleasant way to learn about the area and some of the favorite sons/daughters. Behind the mural wall is a beautiful small walk along the river. Quite picturesque!

We love downtown Cape and the murals are just amazing to see. I love that it gives a history about the area.

Skillfully done murals, unlike most murals which look under par. Lots of photo ops by the Mississippi riverbanks inside the wall. Breathtaking to just sit there and savor nature all the time you need.

This is a must see if you are a history buff, or even if you're not. The history of the Mississippi at Cape Girardeau shown through paintings and historic reading on and along the flood wall.

A nice walk with a history lesson that makes you proud to be from Missouri. The mural is wonderful for kids and adults of any age.

Beautiful tribute to those who received less than honor and were told not to wear their uniforms as they arrived back into our country after honorably serving!

My daughter and her friend enjoyed taking pictures in front of the mural. They learned facts about the river town and it's importance. There are also benches and places to enjoy an ice cream as you enjoy the sites of the Mississippi River. The weather was great especially for June.

Very informative about the history & amazing creativity of all those of the area. The river walk is just a bonus

We had never been to Cape Girardeau MO so we were pleasantly surprised when we came upon the Missouri Wall of Fame. It was very informative, interesting, and pleasing to the eye. We enjoyed being up close to the Mississippi River and watching barges going each direction. It was a nice day and we could walk along the river on the walkway along the wall. That area of town is well kept also, with beautiful old buildings and clean and neat streets and sidewalks. We would definitely go back! We were actually impressed with all of Cape Girardeau that we visited.

I visited this site with my husband and our family last November. The weather was a tad chilly for our taste but the Wall was amazing. I am a history buff and love art. This combined both of my favorite things. It was very informative and the murals were beautifully painted. Definitely worth a visit!

I grew up here, and remember when the mural was painted on the flood wall downtown. Its a lovely reminder of Missouri history and the characters the state has produced. Writers, news anchors, athletes, and many others can be seen on the walk, with a lovely view of the river on either end, provided the flood gates are open and the river is cooperative. Maybe not a must see for everyone, but a lovely way to stroll off a bit of over indulgence at one of the downtown areas many great restaurants.

The flood wall in downtown Cape has beautiful murals painted on both sides of the wall. They tell a good overview of Missouri and Cape history. Always enjoy taking visitors here for a stroll and history lesson.

Took a stroll to view the artwork on the wall. The wall is 18000 square feet. Artwork is exquisite. The wall is against the Mississippi River. No cost. Highly recommend. Rating... excellent.

This area is well maintained the the artwork always looks fresh. So much history along the different scenes that are painted along the walkway. It's also interesting in seeing the different flood levels and the years that they had happened.

The artwork is stunning and we really surprised as to how many and specifically who originated from Missouri. However, some of the information signs could use updating once they have passed away. Rush Limbaugh is an example of that.

This was pretty cool to see! It was also neat to see the down town area and be able to walk out to the banks of the Mississippi River! If your passing through you've got to take a few minutes to visit this!

This area of the downtown historic district always has something fun to do! After walking along the Missouri Wall of Fame, or viewing the mighty Mississippi River, be sure to check out the local farmer's market, if your visit is on a Saturday morning. (This market is open from May thru September). Lots of activities take place near the Missouri Wall of Fame throughout the year. Car shows, bicycle tours/races, vintage-motorcycle highway tours, just to name a few. If you get hungry, there are several restaurants nearby. Antique shops are also located within this downtown area. Enjoy!

We seen several river walls out on our trip up thru the Mississippi River, this one was by far our favorite. Very well though out and planed, and all viewable from the warm dry Jeep as it was a very cold rainy day as we passed thru. Don’t forget to check out all other downtown buildings and old church structures.

Some people confuse the Wall of Fame with the River Heritage mural, which is a much nicer attraction. The Wall of fame at the far south end of water street is simply drawings of famous people who are from Missouri (some from Cape). Originally sketched as just outline drawings, it was upgraded to colors a few years ago to improve the appearance. Still not much to look at. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but if you happen to use the parking lot nearby, you could spend a few minutes looking at it. The mural which is painted north of the Wall of Fame is much more detailed and interesting.

The Wall of Fame is a unique presentation of famous Missourians. I only wish they would have permitted Walt Disney's picture to be added.

nice mural's of mo. history , nice place to walk along the river . even learn a few things about Mo. I didn't know

This is a neat wall to walk down slowly and read the fact/history. Doesn't take very long and it's just neat.

All along the riverside, on Water street is this massive flood wall, and about 500 feet of it are painted with multicolored murals, depicting vignettes of local history, political and legendary personalities, historical events. In parts, the wall is painted on both sides. When we visited, the original artist was at work restoring several of the component tableaux.

You can't visit Cape Girardeau without stopping to see the Missouri Wall of Fame. Incredible artwork paintings along the the length of the river flood wall depicting famous individuals born in Missouri. Stations along the walk with information placards detailing the individuals. Very interesting and informative.

There is so much Art work that was put into "The Wall of Missouri's History". So cool to see all the people that have made it to fame, that all came from the state of Missouri. I'm not from Missouri so it had opened my eyes to all the people I have heard of, but never knew they came from Missouri.

This is a relaxing place to walk along and read and enjoy the many murals, about this part of Missouri. There are pictures of many famous people that are also from here. Many restaurants and shops are also in this area. If the flood gates are open do enjoy the view of the Mississippi river and the beautiful Bill Emerson Bridge.

A nice view into Missouri's history. While taking a walk around Old Cape, make sure and check out some great artwork!

It was nice to see that the graffiti was kept to a minimum and the walk was clean. Very relaxing walk I liked the information that was given on the wall.

Every time we visit our family in Jackson we go down to Old Town Cape, right on the river. We think the wall is impressive and the murals are interesting. Old Town is great, antique stores, restaurants it's always fun to peruse.

Great photo shoots here with the river and the murals. The downtown has an old railroad / riverboat vibe and great dining.

Beautiful Murals Representing Periods of History Nice Walk Along The Mississippi Perfect Place for Picture Taking

Its downtown, painted on the town side of the flood wall. Large, great condition murals inform you about local and state history. This would be a great activity for the infirm, as the murals can be enjoyed from a car in the parking lot next to the wall. Have dinner and take a stroll along the murals. Very nice attraction in Cape.

I was very impressed by the wall and its painting representing the history of the area with the year above them. I wish I had more time to study each one.

The Missouri Wall of Fame is painted on the downtown Cape Girardeau, Mo. flood control wall. Prior to the flood wall downtown Cape would flood nearly every year when the Mississippi reached flood stage. The concrete wall made a wonderful blank sheet for local Artist to paint the Missouri Wall of Fame. The Wall makes for a nice walking tour or a slow drive by in your auto. When the flood gates are open, which is most of the time you can walk along a river on a sidewalk and read and view a history of Cape Girardeau. If you are in the area and plan to visit the historic downtown area the Wall of Fame is a must see. As I said in the Title you will most likely will be surprised at some of the famous people from Missouri.
as

As with many cities along the Mississippi, the Missouri Wall of Fame is a series Murals on the sea wall along the waterfront. Here there are several block of murals. Like most art, you make of them what you see.

Enjoyed the wall of fame . It is neat. I did not know all of those people came from MO. Definitely a good place to see and through a couple cold ones back. Merica🇺🇸

When the weather is nice, it's great to walk by the river and check out the flood wall. It covers historical events and famous people from the area.

If you stroll to downtown Cape Girardeau, take a few minutes to walk the flood wall and admire some famous Missourians and the artwork honoring them. Very interesting and educational.

If you're dining or shopping at any of the fabulous old town Cape Girardeau businesses, give yourself an extra 20 minutes to browes the wall and walk by the river (weather permitting, of course).

Visitors can stroll down the wall on the Water Street side or they can look at the paintings on the river side...great photo op on either side

The Wall is actually a number of murals done on the flood control wall. A good use of space. The wall gives a simple yet effective picture of the Cape Girardeau area from the time that Indians were the only inhabitants, through the 20th century. It also depicts a number of the states more famous inhabitants. An enjoyable experience.

It was my boyfriends first time here and he just though it was the coolest thing ever. I highly recommend people to go there and check it out.

Visitors seem to always enjoy seeing this attraction, which is in the historic downtown district of our city. Many little shops, and restaurants within a city block, along with awesome views of the mighty Mississippi River.

Cape GIradeau had to defend itself from Mississippi floods and so built a concrete wall which blocked out views of the river. So what to do? They commissioned a series of murals that show the history of the city and famous people either born in MIssouri or with a very strong connection with the state. It's certainly worth seeing.

the mural is worth the stop. its easy to get to and there is plenty of parking. it looks like it is very maintained

I love seeing all of the different people from Missouri. Without seeing these walls I don't think about all of the famous people who are from Missouri. I am always looking for what went on the walls that aren't painted yet and wondering who will be next. If you love art or just enjoy seeing who is from Mo it is a must see.

If you're going to Cape Girardeau then you have to take the time to take a walk along the wall that serves to protect Cape during times of floods. The murals are beautiful and if the flood gates are open then you can walk through them and walk along the banks of the Mississippi River and take in the view from there. Well worth the time in more ways than one.

This is a very neat way to make history more interesting. There are two sets of murals maybe 3. The main being the Mississippi River Tales, which includes the murals of famous people. Its a very cool way to decorate a safety measure.

These paintings on the wall along the Mississippi river are interesting and depicts history of Capegirdeau

The mural on the Mississippi River wall in downtown Cape Girardeau is unique and insightful. I had no idea of the heritage of Cape or the many famous individuals who were from Missouri. This is worth the time to check out and it totally FREE.

Down at the banks of the Mississippi river is a wall of history info. in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Colorful art tells a story. Worth checking out!

Touring downtown Cape Girardeau by car. Took drive along Water Street observing the Missouri Wall of Fame. This 500 foot 'flood wall' along the Mississippi is an attractive mural depicting 47 famous people who were born or achieved fame in Missouri. At the corner of Themis St and Water St is the movable flood gate depicting the water level marker of floods from 1844 to 2016. It would be nice to return and read each of the information signs.

Interesting artwork and history lesson combined on the city flood wall. The wall protects the old downtown from the Mississippi. If you're in the area of old downtown, it is worth your effort.

This is a quick stop but worth seeing. It provides a great historical view of famous folks from Missouri.

We have visited the Missouri Wall of Fame in Cape Girardeau, MO many times. It is an impressive work of art and a journey through our history. While there, one can also visit the Mississippi River just on the other side of the flood wall. Notice the different river stages during flooding in the area. Downtown Cape Girardeau offers many antique shops, dining and bars starting at just one block from Missouri Wall of Fame. Ample parking on either end of rather wall

Great depiction of Missouri history! Very well done, great color and detail - fun for the entire family!

The flat flood wall murals were so lifelike that they appeared to be 3 dimensional. Really exceptional quality. Having driven here from Paducah, the two cities flood wall murals were of totally different quality. Excellent descriptions on plaques in from of each mural. VERY nicely done !!

The murals on the flood wall were a beautiful solution to an ugly but necessary cement sea wall along the Cape Girardeau riverfront. The paintings tell the history of Cape, the largest river city between St Louis and Memphis.

The wall features murals of the city's history from early Native inhabitants to more recent times. It also has another section dedicated to famous people from Missouri. It's worth of look if you are heading to the downtown area. It's also on a flood wall, which is also an important part of the city's heritage.

very interesting to discover the history of the city, with text and images, near the Mississipi river, and train rail, and a brigde

I love how unique it is. It describes not one aspect of the history of Missouri, but all. It is quite artistic!

The mural is ok. It depicts a history of sorts that has illustrations of many famous Missourians. This takes literally about 5-10 minutes to look at. This is definitely not a must stop and see attraction.

This wall is part of the historic district where you can spend couple of hours always discovering something new.

The mural of walls backs up to the Mississippi. Can view how high the water gets during flood times. The murals give a great appreciation of many outstanding people from the Cape and Missouri.

Wow! Someone or some people had the forethought to create this beautiful mural of Missouri history!!! We loved it and read through the displays and enjoyed the murals. Thank you for having this! It is especially timely with the Missouri 200 being this year. :)

The Missouri Wall of Fame is neat to see once but I doubt that I'd go back again. Due to the hot weather we did not walk the whole thing but rather drove along and stopped for a picture or two since it was not crowded at all and we could pull right up to the people we were looking for. Our kids couldn't have cared less about the whole thing but it was cool to see some of the names I recognized as being from the state. All in all, if you are in the downtown riverfront area it is worth milling about for a while but I don't think that I would make a special trip just for the wall...

I was recently in downtown Cape Girardeau with guests for a meal at Port Cape (excellent restaurant in one of the oldest buildings in Cape). The restaurant sits on the riverfront and across from the floodwall murals. After dining, we got an ice cream cone to go (hand dipped!) and strolled along the murals. I think the murals are well done, and it was interesting to read the signs that go with each one. We also went on the other side of the wall to the river, where there are park benches and places to sit along the river. It was lovely to sit and watch the river boats and people who were out with their children and dogs for a walk. Everyone was friendly, with people visiting with one another, and it felt small town and like a step back in time, away from the busyness of life. The riverfront is all rock or stone, though, so not a grassy park like setting, but more just water and stone steps. There is current construction for more parking and a public restroom area, which will make the riverfront more tourist friendly. All in all, it's my favorite thing to do when we have guests in town, and I recommend it for a leisurely night time outing (especially if there is also music on the lawn of the courthouse) or as a good way to break up a trip on the interstate, with the opportunity to stretch your legs and have an ice cream cone.

Really enjoyed the wall murals. Surprised by some of the Missouri folks included because I didn't realize they were from Missouri.

Walk along the Mississippi River and learn some interesting facts about the history of Cape Girardeau Missouri. Excellent artwork painted on the flood wall takes you back in time, with individual plaques (audio is also available) explaining details of our rich history on the river.

I have seen the wall many times and take visitors to see it when they come to town. The wall not only gives a summary of the history of Cape and shows you famous people from Missouri. While there enjoy views of the Mississippi River.

We have been there several times. The wall is very well done and the plaques in front of each picture is very informative.

Born in Cape, I have been by here a couple of different times throughout my lifetime. I was finally able to bring my family to one of my favorite places in Missouri not named the Gateway Arch. The murals along the flood wall cover historical people and events from all walks of life from astronauts to authors and athletes to actors, if you were anything and from Missouri, you are on the wall. Great photo opportunities and the wall even includes some flood wall history if you look for it. Along the wall you will see markings where water levels were dangerously close to breaching the wall which is a nice feature few notice.

beautiful paintings, great walkway, view of water and bridge. Maybe even the train. great parking, close eating places

Nothing special at all. If you happen to be driving by I guess it's worth a look out your window but that's about it.

It was a pretty day for a walk along the Missouri Wall of Fame on Water Street in downtown Cape Girardeau, MO. Great views of the mighty Mississippi River.

I must say, this is impressive...they seem to keep adding new art all the time. They have done a wonderful job depicting Missouri history. Bring you kids...this is a great learning tool to see history as art. Whoever painted these did a wonderful job...thanks....

This gives you the history of Cape Girardeau and is a good general historical account. The art is very good. It will take no more than an hour to take in this place of interest. I do recommend it. I think it's quite interesting. Port Cape restaurant offers hand dipped ice cream cones at an outside window across the street..

The entire flood wall in downtown Cape Girardeau is a mural depicting the history of the city. Both sides of the wall are painted. You can walk by the river as you peruse the wall. The entire downtown area is historic with fantastic architecture, quaint shops, and great restaurants. There is a lot to see in historic Cape Girardeau!

Walk along the wall to see a mural of Missouri history. You don't need to spend a lot of time here (you can see the entire wall in about 15 minutes). It's a must see if in the area.

It was very neat to see. It is only a short walk to view the whole thing. The only problem was that some of the information signs were faded out and unreadable. I would still recommend people to stop and view this landmark.

My husband and I were visiting Cape Girardeau for the first time and as it was during the winter some of the places we wanted to see were closed. I remembered seeing the wall of fame on TripAdvisor so thought we would check it out. We are very glad that we did. The wall is organized by catagory (sports, cinema etc) and in front of each area/catagory there is a marker offering more description and further explanation on the murals. Also if you go further down the wall there is the continuation of murals showing River Life. Very nice.

The Missouri Wall of Fame in downtown Cape Girardeau, MO offers a nice walk with cool breezes from the Mississippi River. Enjoy reading the history, and seeing all the famous people from our state.

It's been years since I lived and visited Cape. What a pleasant surprise to find an outdoor museum and history lesson, all-in-one! On my husband's first visit to the area, we spent a leisurely few minutes walking by the river and learning of all the greats that hail from the state of Missouri. I must admit, being from New York City, I'm always a skeptic when other folks talk about sight-seeing. This is a sight worth seeing, free of charge. It only takes a few minutes and you can bring 1 or 100 and everyone will have the same great experience. Young or old, you won't want to leave without enjoying this treasure. And don't forget to bring a camera!

We enjoyed walking along The Missouri Wall of Fame today on our way to see the "Nina" and the "Pinta" replica's of Christopher Columbus' ships. They were docked just past this wall, along the mighty Mississippi River. The Columbus Foundation has scheduled stops for these ships eleven months out of the year. Everyone should see these beautiful ships! We took a self-guided tour on each one, and found them to be truly fascinating! There is always something going on in the historic downtown district of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It's usually happening along or near The Missouri Wall of Fame.

If you want a quiet place to take in the views of the Mississippi River, this is a great place. Great to stroll around, have a picnic, or to sit on bench and just relax in this peaceful setting.

The wall is a fun way to see famous Missourians, many of whom you probably didn't know were from Missouri.

Always enjoy taking a little trip along the Wall, reliving some of the historic moments that took place here. Great job!

We were in town for a baseball game so we didn't think we would have time to look around. Due to rain, we were able to eat downtown and decided to walk along the wall. The artwork captures what the placards describe and visually is very appealing. We drove past the wall initially to see if we could guess what the murals depicted before we walked along. I was surprised that there weren't more people walking along the river walk. Overall, kept us nice and busy for an afternoon.

See the history of Missouri in beautiful murals on the flood wall in historic downtown Cape Girardeau, MO. What a great way to decorate a concrete flood wall. One end shows the historic events. The other shows famous Missourians. A written description is displayed at each section to tell about the murals. Walk through the open flood gates to see the Mississippi River on the other side of the wall. Riverboats dock at the wall for passengers to get off and tour down town and the Wall.

The Missouri Wall of Fame in Cape Girardeau, MO is an eye opening bit of history. So many famous people came from MO. So many will surprise you! The paintings are beautiful and worth a look even if you aren't interested in the characters so fantastically displayed. I am especially grateful that someone took the effort to make a flood barrier wall a historical artifact. Absolutely though provoking and education as well.

Come to Cape and walk the Wall of Fame. Pictures and plaques tell the story of years past along the Mississippi River and also make great photo backdrops. If the flood gates are open you can walk along the river, watch the barges and take in a breathtaking view of the Emerson Bridge.

My family recently visited Cape Girardeau and stayed in a downtown apartment. The downtown area is a nice area for strolling, shopping, and eating while visiting. This mural is next to the Mississippi River and railroad tracks. There is no charge to visit and it's an interesting stop while meandering around.

This art display is very interesting. It certainly livens up a wall instead of leaving it blank!!! It has been added to over the last few years.

Nice wall murals down town. Nice history lesson through art. Sunday’s are really not a good time to go if your looking to see the Wall Of Fame and then grab a bite to eat. We found most shops and restaurants were closed. There are lots of bars down there if that’s your thing but for us non drinkers I was disappointed in the food choices. But it is an interesting wall you should go see. There is a walk way behind the wall that you can walk on along the river. We were there without jackets so did not get to walk the walkway. It did look like the walkway took you up by the casino. 🤫🤫🤫🤫 LOL

Very interesting right on the waterfront beautiful beautiful area. Perfect for a stroll along the water after visiting old town which is just so beautiful and historic.

The whole Riverfront area is worth a visit. The history of Missouri/Cape Girardeau and the Wall of Fame are nice improvements to the flood wall.
Very interesting
Weather was very cold or we would have walked along the wall. A lot of very interesting history. Maybe we will get a chance next time.
