This was a wonderful experience. We spent the day here and truly enjoyed skylift! I have never been able to experience the zoo like this. You rode a lift cart over the top of the zoo and were able to see all the animals underneath your feet. It was so amazing!

This is a very good zoo. Obviously it is not in the class of a Memphis Zoo, however, I must say I think it is better than the Nashville Zoo and the Chattanooga Zoo. I feel the people in charge of this zoo have done a wonderful job. I enjoyed the elephants the most. They were in rare form on the day we visited recently. The only negatives I have regarding this zoo are: Some of the signage has not been updated/repainted since the eighties or nineties. New signage would make zoo visitors feel they are attempting to keep the zoo modern. More restrooms and food/drink vendors are also needed. A small vendor stand in each section would do wonders during the hot, humid Alabama summer. Great Job on this zoo!

I love this zoo. It’s our home zoo and we are members. It is sometimes dirty, they don’t keep guest areas as clean as I would like. I love the multi species hoofstock displays. The African display with multiple viewpoints is one of the greatest in park hoofstock displays I’ve ever seen. I can’t speak to affordability, we bought a membership and I can’t remember the prices. The restaurant has really good food, but a little pricy.

This was our family-friendly outing for indepence day! What a great choice! Will do it again!! Our daughter (3) was so thrilled with the experience! Ask could we go back the next day!

I have always loved this zoo but the structures are looking rather tired and appear to need extensive repairs, including the animal enclosures and sitting areas. I was also rather disappointed to see many of the animals that have always been in pairs to now be alone.
Staff was friendly and the sky lift is fun. I would also recommend the different opportunities to feed the animals.

By LJ Seidl |

as for the only time I went it was pretty good meeting animals were great in Montgomery especially the giraffes IT LICKED MY HAND

By Laura R |

Beautiful, shady landscaping and water sprays made a walk around the zoo very pleasant and comfortable. There were plenty of benches. The sky ride over the giraffes and other animals was very fun and interesting; we also took the train ride which made a pleasant place to rest after walking. Highly recommended! There is a great playground for small children as well, but my 14-year-old liked the zoo very much too.

By dp457 |

My five kids and I enjoyed visiting here on a cooler day. The temperature was just about perfect in March, but it was a bit too cool for the parakeets in the bird house to be out and about like they normally are, so that was a bit disappointing.
Make sure you attend the lion training at 1:30pm. The staff is super friendly and will be available to answer any questions you have about the lions or any of the other animals at that time.

I used to come to the zoo when I was a child, and I enjoyed it, now that I am an adult, it's ok, I feel that the prices are way too high though.

By Kayla B |

We had so much fun here - the skylift is awesome, definitely worth the extra 5$ a person. The parakeet cove where you can feed them and they come right on your hands. Definitely some interactive experiences that are great for kids and adults.

By Katie B |

This zoo was one of the worst we have ever visited. The animal cages were all unkept. We went end of may and about 5 major of attractions were under renovations. The whole zoo looks like they have done zero updates since it opened. Very very sad for the animals.

By mindylucious |

have nice things for the kids..... the prices are good and they also offer things in a gift shop.... The staff offers great information on the animals that are housed there...

By katiebugga |

Very clean, we spent nearly 3 hours there walking around looking at all the animals. Just a couple of tips to help anyone planning a visit there. From there website...

"Picnics and outside food are allowed in all areas of the Zoo with the exception of the Overlook. Guests and visitors may have picnic lunches and snacks at the various shelters, grassy areas, benches, tent areas and the new playground area. No cup lids and/or straws will be allowed for the protection of our animals. All areas must be cleaned after usage to keep our Zoo as clean as you found it."

Wear your walking shoes, this place is huge. If you don't plan on having a picnic, at least bring a water bottle they have water fountains throughout the zoo. Water from the gift shop is $2.99. To feed the animals bring $1's and $5's for the vending machine. You can buy train tickets from a vending machine too or purchase them from the gift shop.

We will be visiting again, we had a great time.

Four generations recently visited the zoo without a stroller and we managed just fine. There are plenty of benches when anybody in our party needed to take a break. A few extra signs would have been nice but the zoo is not huge so some backtracking was not that much of an inconvenience. The large cafe pavilion was situated where you can see animals while having lunch. The zoo train tickets were reasonably priced at $3 per person. The animal exhibits were nicely done with a large variety of animals on display. Naturally, we fed the parakeets.

By Laura N |

When we visited it was very quiet which made it really relaxing to stroll around. I got to see some species I had never seen before such as the black bear and the sloth bear. The environments and enclosures for the animals seem to be in keeping with their natural habitats. You could feed the giraffes for $3 which was a great experience and something I had always wanted to do. The giraffes were Ashley and Willie and they'd had a little baby giraffe too! We also fed the parakeets. For $2 you get a little stick of seeds and they come and perch on it with a little coaxing. They are beautiful, colourful birds. The $15 entrance fee seemed extremely good value and I like how the animals are split into the continents they originate from.

My granddaughter of 5, was so excited to ride the train around the zoo, and her grandmother was so grateful to sit down. She could have touched one of the new stingrays but like me, she could not make herself do it. She loves there playground, and giraffes and lions. Montgomery Zoo is my favorite zoo, the animals seem to be in a better environment than cages.

By TeeJay0675 |

The Montgomery Zoo, is a nice small zoo. It is not as big as the zoos that you would see in Birmingham or Atlanta, but will still make for a nice outing for the kids.

By lisaterry7 |

We were in Montgomery visiting family and wanted something fun to do with the kids, so to the zoo we went! The heat is stifling, so we arrived when they opened at 9:00am. For the first hour or, we were the only people around! It was definitely quiet the whole time we were there. We enjoyed seeing the exhibits. I didn't like the fact that all of the "big" stuff (train ride, pedal boats, sky cab) were extra $. We did pay extra to feed the giraffes, which was a big hit. We live near Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, and Montgomery certainly doesn't hold a candle to that (much larger) zoo. After 3 hours, we were totally finished. Overall, it's nice to have a zoo in the area, but be prepared that it is not a stellar zoo :)

By Kyle C |

Honestly I under estimated it. I didn't think it was going to be no where near as good as it was. Nice place for a day outing. The museum is neat too. Not going to break any worlds best zoo records or anything but definitely a nice place to goes if you are close to the area.

By James L |

You cannot go wrong with a visit to the Montgomery Zoo. It is wonderful and clean. The exhibits are well taken care of. The associates are top notch. This is very family friendly, and an easy walk. The little train is fabulous, Montgomery should be very proud of this attraction.

Reasonably priced with large variety of animals. Very clean grounds and enclosures. Helpful & knowledgeable staff.

This is truly a hidden gem, on a Sunday with perfect weather in mid to low 70’s hardly anyone is here???? I almost wanted to not write this to keep this secret to ourselves! This was our second time and I knew I was going to review so I made sure we did and saw it all from the numerous laps around the zoo, the train ride, feeding the giraffes, and the very best – the skylift ride. Being from Colorado I used to call these ski lifts, same thing without the snow ha ha. Super awesome to see the animals from an aerial view and my 4 and 5 year old boys loved this. It was a nice break in between the walking and train ride. The two times we have been (it’s a 4 hour round trip drive from Pensacola) but so worth this trip, has not been anything but perfect from the playground, petting zoo, and the up close and personal views of the animals here. I also love they don’t look miserable and mistreated, lots of room and natural habitat from what we saw. Its educational, fun, and lots to do in a day, pack a lunch and stay hours!!!! We got a bonus of leaving the zoo lights already came on but we didn’t want to pay the extra to stay since we were done at 5pm and had to drive two hours home. This being said, this is one of my favorite zoo’s from Denver to Dallas, Montgomery zoo is a small best kept secret, hands down love this place!

By Kelli N |

Great place to visit! Went with the sweet grands (4,2, and 3m) as well as our 12yo. Everyone had a great time! We packed a lunch, and ate after seeing the zoo at the tables at the playground. It was a great day! Don’t forget (like I did 😳) to look for coupons/ most schools sell books that have discounts! I could have saved several $$$!!!

By Daisygirl2018 |

My sister was visiting from Oklahoma and we thought we would go to the zoo. I had heard good things. I have been to several zoos and this was the worst zoo that we had been too. It was just a step up from a animal prison. Way overpriced and the staff was very rude. Several of the animals looked malnourished and some were hurt. Don’t waste your money.

By Marci H |

We have had family passes here for a few years and our kids love going here. We enjoy the abundance of shade when we are walking through the zoo. My children enjoy the exhibits and the playground. They especially enjoy petting stingrays. This is a family friendly location that we definitely enjoy.

By Caroline R |

Great place to visit, no pandas or gorillas but still a wonderful zoo with a variety of animals. It takes about two hours to walk around, and there are student, military, and AAA discounts available

By FZaleski |

One of the best small zoos in the South. I've watched it grow over the years and it just gets better. Now they have added a pamphlet to use with the zoo map for additional learning experience. I was.there with a 12, 4, 3, and 1 yr old. All of the enjoyed it. Meals are a little pricey at the zoo cafe but good. Or pack a lunch instead!

By Jonathan C |

This is a small zoo, but its the perfect way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon with the children. The exhibits are nice and clean. The zoo is clean too. They have lots of activities too. There's a sky lift, the train ride and paddle boats. They have a restaurant with a view of the savannah. There's a big children's park area to take a break with the children with a petting zoo and a nice museum that costs just a little extra to visit. We really enjoy it and go at least once a year.

By TheFireMedic501 |

Montgomery has a very nice zoo, with animals from tropical birds to big cats, and north american black bears.

Very family oriented, and a great place to take the family for a fun day out. The ski-lift style ride over the park is a show-stopper, and a great way to see some of the exhibits from a unique perspective.

Most kids love the train ride around the park!

The exhibits are well-maintained, and the animals are well cared for.

An outstanding family experience!

By brewColumbus_Georgia |

Took my son and granddaughters and we had a blast. The animals were out and acting playful. We rode the train and then took the Gondola for a view from the air. It was a week day and the crowds were small so we really enjoyed it. Montgomery should really be proud of this accomplishment.

If you are looking for a relaxing place to go on the weekend, this is it. We went on a Saturday and enjoyed the zoo without feeling as if we were bumping into people everywhere we went. The animals are beautiful and their natural habitats are well kept. Lots of waterfalls all over the park. Very pretty! There is a nice play park for the littles with slides and swings and picnic tables. For an extra fee, you can do the sky lift which will take you over the park and there is a train ride. It was a nice long, relaxing ride and it was a great way to end our day at the zoo.

There is a restaurant on site that sits in the center of the beautiful savannah. You can sit and watch the giraffes and other animals as you eat. Very nice. The food isn't all that great, but it isn't horrible either. Just a little cold.

If you want to extend your day here, you can also rent peddle boats on the lake. Looked like fun!

This zoo is small and quaint, nothing like your big city zoos with an abundance of attractions, but the animals here are gorgeous and there's a lot of animals here that the Birmingham zoo doesn't have. I recommend it.

It is always a good time to be had at the Montgomery Zoo! It is great for all ages. I took my daughter on her first birthday.

By navypoppop |

We love going to zoos when playing tourist in our travels. This zoo did not disappoint us. The city of Montgomery can pat themselves on the back for maintaining a fine example of what a zoo should be. It is clean, well laid out and the employees are very friendly. We had lunch here and even a little pricey it was hot and delicious. We would recommend anyone to see this zoo.

By TERRENCE B |

Zoo is smaller than some of the zoos we have visited. Dc, Nashville, Atlanta and OKC. It’s not a really large zoo, it took my family about an 1:30 to see everything. That’s with 2 adults and a 7 and 13 year old. Now negative about the zoo. Prices are very nice especially for large families. $5 per person for the sky line, yes I said ski line and $3 per person for the train. Fun visit. Support your local and all zoos!

By curiositykeeper |

A pleasant morning's walk for two Hurricane Irma refugees, with free admission for my daughter due to the emergency; thank you for that. We enjoyed the Skylift (please be aware that it is very high), and the animals all seemed to be very well cared for. A surprising number of charismatic megafauna for such a small zoo. The goat whisperer at the petting zoo was especially nice and informative, and all the other staff I encountered were very nice as well. The place was nearly empty though, which was very odd; I hope it's not having problems. My only issues were the nickeling-and-diming - the parrot seed sticks were $2 and had only a half inch of seed, the giraffe feed was gone in 3 seconds (it was hay in a cup), and bottled water was almost $4 (we forgot our waterbottles when we evacuated, I usually don't buy single use plastic). Definitely worth going though.

By studer0311 |

One of the best zoos I've been too. They had everything. It was also well shaded with plenty of trees. It's designed so you can get up close and personal with the animals. It only cost $3 to feed and pet a giraffe. Amazing zoo.

By TravelR779 |

I've been to quite a few zoo's in the world but the Montgomery Zoo is the one I like the most. Apart from weekends, this zoo is quiet and has no queues when you want to see the 'have to see' animals.

The price is very reasonable ($15) and the facilities are good. It can be very hot in Montgomery (it was 36 celsius / 97 fahrenheit) however the nice people at the zoo placed sprinklers throughout the zoo which spray mist like water which cools you down without gerting completely wet.

This place is suitable for people who have difficulty walking or are in a wheelchair. There is even a cable lift which will take you conveniently through the zoo.

By Reality |

This is by far my favorite zoo. It is always very clean and they do not have that horrible animal smell that lingers so they clean poo and stuff often. Prices are very reasonable but plan in having cash. As with everything else all is not included in price however not very expensive either the sky lift and train are $5 each which is great. You can buy and give food to various animals. Make sure you look for all the trainer talks and learning lectures for the animals very interesting

By Janet H |

Wasnt very crowded...The kids had a blast...there were 11 of us...The gift shop was nice...and I have a bad knee so I rented a drive around cart...saved the day...I was able to enjoy the park with my Grand Babies without being in pain...Would love to come visit again.

I drove from Birmingham to Montgomery to see the zoo.
It was worth the drive. For a small zoo they have wonderful animal. i enjoyed seeing the all the animal, especialy the baby hippo!!!really cute
Worth visiting again !!!

By suedan30928 |

No need to rush, take your time and see everything. Not a really big zoo but has something for everyone. Gives a military discount for admission.

By Laura H |

Montgomery has a great zoo! They keep it clean, animals seem to be treated well. We enjoy the chairlift that hoes over a lot of animals. The train ride is also nice.. and they have paddle boats! We became zoo members! We bring a lot of company...

By Stephanie W |

My colleague and I took our classes to the zoo for a field trip and it went really well. This zoo has a lot for kids to see and do. The museum was fantastic and the chair lift ride gave a fantastic view of the zoo people couldn't see before.

By Peggy B |

I invited my friend to go just for a relaxing day out & it was more than that. We fell in love with the zoo & the animals right off. The extra cost for the museum was worth it. Had wanted to ride the sky lift & train but ran out of time. Zoo may be small but well kept & worth the visit.

By Johanna-Jerry B |

Great place to spend a morning or afternoon, visit the Montgomery Zoo. Many animals to see, it is great family fun for me and my grandchildren to.

By Erin M |

We went once and bought a year pass. Great for families. So many animals and interactive activities. Love that you can do it all in a day, but never get bored!
It just feels like you have a chance to get up close & personal with the critters.

By Charlotte M |

We visited the zoo recently for a fundraiser and were amazed at all the animals on display even in the early evening. This venue is perfect for a large gathering of people or a big party. And the animals were so cooperative and fun to watch! Of course the zoo can't control that, but it was definitely a nice perk of the evening.

By Donna B |

A great place to see various animals in their habitats. You can see them by train, skylift or walking. Also extra large picnic areas and FUN playground! And don't forget to visit the bird habitat where you can feed the birds!

By Debbie W |

Beautiful, clean and lots of stuff for different ages to enjoy.Lots of seasonal things like Boo Zoo that I'm looking forward to. Good value/ Ove the overview in the skylift that goes across the zoo.

By LenHill04 |

We took our 5 and 7 year olds to this zoo. We all had a nice time. It's a small zoo, but there were enough exhibits to keep them entertained for a good long while. The best part was the parakeet aviary: getting to feed the little birds; they land all over you. They had a train and a sky lift, but we just didn't have enough time to ride them. There were a few hands on items, like a playground, petting zoo and stingray bay, plus feeding some of the other animals as well.

By Katrina S |

We went here on Nov.17,2016 it was so much fun ,the prettiest animals you have ever seen, we'll cared for and maintained landscaping the area where the Lions,Tigers and elephants are kept is breathtaking the gift shop is Amazing and the staff is so sweet and helpful I spent almost 100 and had to show restraint,if you ever in the area it's worth checking out

By jaymeh133 |

I was not expecting much for this area after visiting zoos in larger metro area like st louis. But it surprised and the Christmas edition with lights was very well done too.

By Maria D |

Very reasonably priced. It is setup nicely. I enjoyed the enclosures. The gift shop was great. There is food available

By Jeff F |

We took our Grand Daughter to see the Christmas lights at the Zoo and we road the chair lift over the zoo to see all of the Christmas lights. She we had a great time.

By jat53 |

I always enjoy the zoo and with the overhead ride it is now even more enjoyable. The train ride
is still disappointing as you really see nothing but shrubbery during the ride. The zoo looked to
be well kept and fairly clean. Wish we had ridden the overhead ride more than once. It was
a very fair price for such a great view.

By Chaslolo |

The staff was great. An extremely hot day and they really helped keep the energy up. Loved the turtles.

By Iris W |

It is a nice small zoo, but not a lot to do but walk around and see the animals. There is a park the there for the kids to plays, so that is a huge plus. ZooBoo could have been better because the wait lines were long and there were only two rides for the kids.

By Cassie W |

When it comes to zoos sometimes you pay way too much to see very little in the summer months. Montgomery Zoo has a cool way for you to see animals even if they may be napping or hiding out the heat. The ski lift that takes you over exhibits is both unique and entertaining and the multi level ways to view different animals makes it fun when looking at land and water animals such as otters and alligators.

By John V |

A Zoo with a chair lift and old type of train ride. Very good, and worth a visit. You can feed the Giraffe and see the animals in a free situation, in the main.

By Gina F |

When we first moved to the area 17 years ago it was a nice zoo for the size and area. We haven't been since 2017 but went today. It's very run down. The grounds are unkept, except for the entrance area. The exhibits look unkept with overgrown weeds. The otter exhibit is closed. The lions and tiger look underweight. The rhino was rubbing it's head against the wall like it had lost it's mind. The giraffe was licking the wall. The animals don't seem to have any enrichments. Lots of empty exhibits.
They used to have paddle boats, petting zoo, horse rides and an area to touch stingrays (I think) so there's lots of potential.
Like I said, we used to have a membership and go very often. I was very disappointed. 3 adults with train ride & chair lift ride was $72.00.

By Amos2006 |

My family was able to attend the Montgomery Zoo this past weekend. I had not been there for many years. While we did have a good time overall, I left feeling very sad for the animals at the zoo. Many of them appeared unhappy, possibly not getting enough stimulation. It seemed that much more emphasis was being placed on customer happiness than animal conservation. People were throwing food at the animals, spitting at them, and in one instance a man reached out and was touching the rhino on the head. Now, I realize that you cannot control all the actions of visitors, but some of these things could have been avoided. First of all, the rhino exhibit should not be designed so poorly that you can simply reach over and touch it. That should never have been possible. Secondly, where were the zoo workers? I only saw one person on our entire walk. There need to be more zookeepers present throughout the grounds. I hate to be so negative, but I was just very disappointed.

By 2chiles |

Great zoo, well designed lot of shade on paths to each exhibit. Large viewing windows to see the animals. We really like the areal ride for viewing the animals got some great shots. Staff are very friendly. The zoo has large population of birds many different kinds. Last no bad smells or unhappy looking animals. All n all great zoo.

By Debbie W |

The Montgomery Zoo does an excellent job of delivering value. We loved the sky tram that gives you an overview of the Zoo and surrounding areas. They have a lot of promotions throughout the year. There is plenty of parking. We got the season pass and it was worth it.

By Meg A |

For those who come from a big city with large zoos this venue will underwhelm, however, it is a nice little zoo that has special events throughout the year and currently has a young giraffe which the children will enjoy.

There is also a large playground and a train ride. There is also a sky ride that gives a nice view of the entire zoo. You may wish to be mindful of toddlers riding this as the single bar crossing the lap would not be enough to contain a small child from slipping through and falling to the ground.

By Brenda S |

Saw everything in 2 hours. Ok if looking for something slow and quiet to do. Very Hot in July. Not crowded first thing in am. Also have to find it down winding road

By Sheryl S |

I have been to several zoos, and the Montgomery Zoo is excellent. The areas are so well kept, and the animals looked healthy and enjoying themselves. The Giraffe exhibit was so much fun, and I cannot wait to see the Stingray exhibit being built. This is a little treasure, in my opinion.

By Tonya Bailey |

My family and I visited the Montgomery Zoo on our trip to Montgomery, AL. The zoo is opened daily from 9am-4pm. The admission is Adults (13+) $18, Child (3-12) $14, Seniors (65+) $16, and Toddlers (0-2) FREE. The zoo is wheelchair accessible. There is plenty of parking located in the parking lot on sit, it is FREE to park. It takes about 3 hours to self-tour the zoo. If you're a penny smasher collector, they are located at this zoo. At the Montgomery Zoo its divided into different continents. They have the South American, North American, Asia, and Africa sections. They also have a Reptile Building, Waters of the World Building, Mann Wildlife Learning Museum, and a Petting Zoo. We had a snack at the Overlook Cafe to rest. Extra cost things they have are Giraffe Encounters ($3 per person), Train Ride ($3 per person), Zoofari Skylift ride ($5 per person).

My wife and I took our 8yo son here for spring break, and we all had a blast! The zoo has a lot to offer, aside from just walking around and looking at the animals. There is an awesome SkyLift (looks/feels like a ski lift), that takes you up in the air over the giraffes, lions, zebras, and more. It's well worth the extra few bucks to see the zoo from a whole new vantage point. There is also a small train (actually on tracks, not a fake one with wheels) that runs throughout the park. We didn't ride the train, because the weather was perfect and we pretty much had the park to ourselves, so we decided to walk. But the tracks ran just about everywhere we walked, so it would be a fun ride.

Many of the exhibits have glass viewing areas, which allow you to get up close and personal with the animals. We had tigers literally staring us in the face just inches away on the other side of the glass, and it was amazing to be that close. The viewing areas throughout the zoo are designed very well, so you have multiple vantage points to view the animals. Elephants, tigers, bears, monkeys, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, and so much more to see here! The park also has an area where you can rent pedalboats, and some great areas for picnicking.

If you're in Montgomery, and have a few extra hours, it's definitely worth a trip out to the zoo! Or if you're looking for a place for a nice day trip like we were, it's well worth a couple hours drive to visit.

By Tammy P |

I'm a travel nurse. So I visited the zoo alone. It was nice. I really enjoyed feeding the giraffe. The chairlift was also nice because it gave me a better view of the giraffes! I went early on a Wednesday so it wasn't crowed. I was probably in and out in 2.5 hrs. It's nicer than the Atlanta Zoo to me.

By gracefuljoy |

This is not the largest zoo you’ll find, but it is perfect for a day out with families. Our kids loved the ski lift ride over the zoo. Their favorite part of the day was feeding the giraffes and seeing the hippos swimming. We also took the train ride through the zoo. We enjoyed the aviary, seeing the big cats, and the zebras. Our only disappointment was finding “monkey island” closed that day.

By Jerilyn L |

We visited this zoo one Friday afternoon. We found it to be an excellent showcase of animals. The staff was very friendly and our kids had a great time. It was hot, but there were misters throughout the zoo to cool you down. Our family really enjoyed the alpine ride across the zoo.

By mikeg20182018 |

Take your family on a wonderful outing and visit the Zoo. There is so much to see so take your camera with you. I have been here and enjoyed it. They offer AAA and military discount too.

By TripDec2015 |

This is a small zoo that has a great variety for everyone. They keep it very clean. My family has visited many times over the years and have alway's enjoyed it. Caution: Watch out for traffic cameras in Montgomery.

By Holly M |

We love zoos, have been to many of them in the USA and have a membership at our home zoo. While this zoo is not large in comparison to many, it is really pretty and the exhibits are very nice.

Highlights: the tigers - so close, my heart actually sped up a bit, but it was amazing to be that close, the alligators - nice walk over the water, the elephants such a large viewing area. Skyline is awesome and so relaxing. You travel over several exhibits, including the giraffes, zebra, deer, etc. And we loved the pygmy hippos...so cute! The zoo also has some animals we have not seen before.

One area I would love to see improve - the river otter exhibit. It is very small. I am a bit biased though because I love otters and have seen some great exhibits. They do have a machine you can get some feed to feed them, but it was empty, so we did not do that.

We also participated in the Elephant Experience. Amazing! Friendly and knowledgeable staff...great to see behind the scenes and chat with the folks who care for these amazing creatures on a daily basis. Love our artwork that Tina created for us...it will have a special place in our home.

Highlight of our trip to Alabama!

By jaspereb |

The admission cost was pricey and the animal’s habitats were small and sad and not well kept. I’m not usually one that feels sorry for animals in zoos but I did at this one. They have a decent amount of animals and some of the habitats are large but the ones that weren’t, really weren’t.

By Saundra O |

So area cities don't have anything on Montgomery's zoo. Price so reasonable! Just the right size for half a day. I've been many times and enjoy myself more each time. I rode the skylift thingy though and won't be doing that again!

By Susan S |

Let me start by saying... I have been to so many different zoos. We love visiting zoos all over.
Montgomery Zoo is one of the cleanest I’ve ever been to. (That makes a big difference) All the animals were well taken care of, the zookeepers were informative and friendly and the food was pretty good too!

By SM |

The zoo is lacking management , customer service and is not worth the money to see. We took our grandchildren today and what a disappointment 😥. The grounds were poorly tended, few animals to see and no one to assist us with any questions. We tried to buy drinks in the Mann Museum and waited over 10 minutes while the clerk talked on the phone before being able to pay. We won't be back ....save your money .

By JaneArt |

We loved our visit at this zoo! The Playground was fun. The food was good and reasonable priced! And we fed the giraffes! A highlight! I would def. recommend it!

By BELMONT Ipswich |

This zoo is on the north side of Montgomery. We arrived too early to check in to our hotel so we decided to go to the zoo. It was a pleasant enough couple of hours, but it was fairly average. On many occasions it was difficult to take photos due to fine mesh barriers or you could not get near enough to the bars to photograph the animals without the bars getting in the way. I know safety is paramount but this is not always a problem at other zoos. Many of the glass windows were very dirty so photos could not be taken, this could have been avoided.

By Amber S |

Took my four year old to this zoo and he loved it! It was just the right size to enjoy everything, but not so big you have to get there early and walk all day just to see everything. We ended up getting the package deal to see the museum as well and thoroughly enjoyed it. The price was reasonable and most animals were out and you could see them from different angles. There is a sky lift also which I thought was neat. If you have little ones it might be a little high and it does actually go over the cheetah enclosure. The drinks and food were a little high for what it was but that is to be expected at any attraction. I recommend going at least once, but I'm sure you'll want to go back.

My husband and I walked around the zoo for the first time ever without our children as they are grown. It did make us miss them being young but I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My favorite part of the day was the giraffe encounter. The giraffe is such a beautiful animal. We enjoyed the train ride as well.

Had a great time visiting Montgomery zoo. Great exhibit space and very well laid out. Animals all looked very well cared for and all staff showed a lot of knowledge. Looking forward to coming back and spending more time.

By CherylABentley |

Enjoyed all the animals from small to large exotic! The museum which highlighted a variety of animals from all over the country was very interesting! Riding the train and sky lift was a great way to see the zoo as well!

My grandkids are 17 and 13 They suggested I visit the Zoo. I have been to bigger Zoos. This one is small but had a variety of animals. It was nicely planned out . It is better for children under 10 . My grandkids enjoyed showing me something different during my visit

Although I found some of the exhibits a bit depressing (like the sparse hippo enclosure up front), most of the zoo was very inviting, especially the African exhibit. We were very impressed with the array of animals to see. Our favorites included the hippos, alligators, river otters, giraffes, elephants, big cats, monkeys, and birds.

The Montgomery Zoo was a wonderful attraction. Great family atmosphere and easy access to the animals. Not much interaction with the animals but a top notch zoo.

By Kathleen Q |

Very nice zoo, it is small -- we made it around in about 3 hours. The kids loved the train ride. There is shade everywhere. Lots of water fountains available.

By l2l76 |

We have visited this zoo twice to date. My children enjoy the playground more than the rest of the zoo. Not that the zoo is bad, it has a pretty good selection of animals for a south U.S. zoo. We had a great time on each visit.

By Lolli219 |

Enjoyed the trip! The zoo is smaller than some but was great for my toddler granddaughter. Watch out though, I got a speeding ticket on the road leading there!

By phil032015 |

This zoo was okay but certainly not the best. The hours are set to close at 5:30, however, the animals are taken off of display at 4:30. That's not public friendly. The staff was not very friendly and just appeared to be waiting for closing time. We won't visit again when we're in that area. Maybe everything was so blah because it was a Sunday afternoon. Oh and let me not forget to mention that the Gift Shop attendant turned the lights off on us while we were attempting to find the baby a souvenir. She said "we're closing in 5 minutes."..wow!

It's so nice to see a small zoo do such a good job with habitat for its wildlife. The Montgomery Zoo, being a city-supported zoo, is also to be commended for having such a diverse wildlife population. It covers all the major groups of animals with separate habitats for North America, Australia, Africa, Asia, and South America. It's particularly interesting to see animals from Asia, including the larger mammals. We toured the zoo on a warm December afternoon when there were very few people there so both the weather and lack of other tourists there were very pleasant. Make sure you pick up a map because the paths wind around and you may miss some of the exhibits unless you double back. This is the kind of zoo that people in the area should buy a membership to and visit frequently to spend time studying just one of the habitats to really get to know the animals instead of trying to rush through and see everything in a couple of hours.

We tend to stop at a lot of zoos on our travels and were not sure about this one after some of the reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. There is a nice variety of animals. Some of the newer exhibits are done very well, allowing for good viewing. The Outlook area is really nice where you can get a chance to see a nice mix of animals and have a bite to eat as well. The food is as you would expect for a zoo - overpriced and not the best, but it was exactly as expected do not a letdown.

The zoo is on the smaller side, but they still have some larger animals like elephants and lions. I really enjoyed some of the larger habitats where they had multiple species occupying the same space.

Some suggestions - the zoo is segmented by continent which is nice, but some marker on the path to guide you through the exhibits would be nice. Maybe different paw prints for each of the regions. That way you don't have to try to follow the map to make sure Tully got through everything.

Also, watch the bracelets. Not even sure why they are required after entry, but we had pink ones and ended up with pink stains on our clothing. It came out with a little soap and water, but it was inconvenient.

All the extras are an additional fee, and probably a little too steep. I think we would have tried them out if they were more reasonably priced. The sky ride and train were mostly empty through the day.

But overall we did enjoy the experience. It is a nice little zoo.

By Daniel |

You won't be blown away since this zoo is pretty much like any other zoo, but it's definitely worth the trip if you are in the Montgomery area as there is plenty to see and do. They have a playground, paddle boats, train rides, sky lift and much more for everyone to enjoy. And it's a pretty large zoo at that. You can easily put in a full day at this particular zoo.

By Celena B |

This is a wonderful little city zoo. We spent about 2 hours here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The animals and their enclosures all looked well cared for and healthy. We also did the chairlift, which was nice. You get to travel over the cheetah and giraffe enclosures, but not much else. It's about a 10-15 minute loop. We really enjoyed the park.

By 690aliced |

While my spouse and I was in Montgomery, Al we visited the Zoo and it was very nice. The location is great not far from the hotel I stays at when I visit Montgomery, Al.

By theren2017 |

Great zoo, the staff was friendly and there were lots of cool animals. A great family day at a reasonable price.

By P0laris600 |

The Montgomery Zoo is an immaculately kept facility that arranges its exhibits by continents. Its exhibits span Australia, South America, North America, Asia and Africa. It is laid out in two loops (sort of a figure eight) configuration with a restaurant and pavilion at the intersection of the two loops. In addition to the animals, there is a Skytram and Train that both enable views of the Zoo that are different from the walking paths. For the young ones, there is also a well equipped playground. The Montgomery Zoo lost its AZA membership, so it is no longer affiliated with most zoos. Its new membership with ZAA is almost meaningless, as it has few Zoos in the network, and most are in places seldom visited. As such, annual membership has lost much of its benefits. Nonetheless, it is an excellent zoo, and is attached to a good wildlife museum as well. Visitors should plan a minimum of 3 hours -- and probably 5-6 hours to fully see all exhibits, especially if visiting the Mann Museum as well.

By Momma9273 |

Great time for a half day outing. Updated natural exhibits. Nice layout. The train ride was a favorite for the children and adults. Also the sky view buckets provided a super view from above. Concession stand/lunch pavilion somewhat crowded but plenty of outside seating. Petting zoo fun for little ones.

By Sharon W |

The zoo was very nice. My students had a wonderful time especially the play ground. They also enjoyed the animals and the train.

By Callsign "Atlas" |

The Montgomery Zoo is great for families or anyone needing an afternoon outdoors. Bring a picnic and plan to spend a few hours. Very good exhibits and always new exhibits.Montgomery has a tough non smoking ordinance in the zoo..so that makes it enjoyable for small children.

By sunny1 |

My husband and I had a couple of hours to spare I'm Montgomery and thought we would visit the zoo. We were a little disappointed with the number of animals on show. It was a very hot afternoon and perhaps some were resting in the shade but even so compared, with other zoos we have seen all over the world this seemed a bit sparse. The cable cars and railway were an interesting addition.

By Pamela S |

A great zoo with a variety of animals and reptiles. Worth a visit ! Nice gift shop. We stopped at the park which the kids enjoyed after lunch.

By Catherine H |

A good family experience. Alot of animals to see, though some like to hide out. Would like to have the animal details explained a little more though . Prices on food and drinks are really to high though for a family outing.

By Martinaatyahoo |

The zoo was awesome, the little one was tired out before we got to ride the train but she had a blast and so did we.

By EaglesFan27 |

We got to the zoo around 1 in the afternoon and stayed until about 4. The tickets weren't cheap but not too expensive. There are plenty of animals on display and you can get pretty close to them. It was not too busy on a Tuesday afternoon, so we were able to take our time at each viewpoint. I liked they included an indoor museum with wildlife displays. We had a lot of fun at the zoo!

By JohnathanPhillips615 |

I can remember when this Zoo was relatively small in the distant past. With the addition of elephants and an entire lake with paddle boats not to mention a sky lift, this place is a major year round attraction for most anyone any age. The trees are mature so there is nice shade in Montgomery's sultry summers. There seems to be a holiday festival for every season. There are hands on areas that are safe for children to interact with the animals w/supervision of course. Ride the train and feed the geese. Great exercise too.

By ashlynboulton |

I have now been to this zoo twice. I loved it the first time, but my second trip blew my first trip out of the water! My boyfriend and I went on a Thursday and got there at 1:30 PM just in time for the lion training session. The zoo was not busy at all, hardly anyone was there which was so nice to get to see all of the exhibits without fighting a crowd. There is also an elephant keeper chat at 2:30 PM. Admission is $15 a piece for adults. We have a membership to another zoo so we got half off the admission price. They have a skylift that takes you over the zoo and gives you a great new perspective of the zoo! It is so cool to see all of the different exhibits from above. We bought our skylift tickets at the gate with our admission, it's $5 per person and it is about a ten minute ride. Completely worth it! Don't pass up a ride on the skylift while you're here. They have a train ride as well as paddle boats but the paddle boats are seasonal. You can get feed out of a machine at the otter exhibit to feed their adorable otters. I did the giraffe encounter for $3 in which they give you a cup full of food and you get to keep the cup. They have four giraffes and two of them came right up to the feeding deck and we were the only people on the feeding deck at that time so we got it all to ourselves. Also a super enjoyable experience that I highly recommend, especially if you love giraffes!! We got to see so many animals up close, some even came right up to us when we were looking at their exhibit. A major plus was that a lot of the animals were super active and not hiding or sleeping. The jaguar there had babies so we got to see four baby jaguars, which were so cute. They also have a white tiger, which was absolutely beautiful, as well as a Bengal tiger. They have four cheetahs as well. We just had a really great time! We spent about two and a half hours here and we learned that they allow outside drinks so we brought drinks from sonic in with us since it was so hot outside. Such a wonderful experience. We will be back for sure! Don't miss out on this zoo! I feel like it is so underrated and I truly don't want it to get overlooked. It is worth every penny coming here and supporting the zoo. It's great for all ages! Their variety of animals is great, particularly all of their cats, and you can tell they take care of their animals. Please check this place out if you're in Montgomery, it really is a hidden gem. All of their staff is super friendly and helpful. Overall a great zoo!!

By Sara P |

We visited the zoo for this past Mother's Day and it was a pretty good time. The overall lay out of the zoo is not the best so it was tough to move through it without doubling back past something again. We loved some of the larger exhibits though with numerous animals throughout. We also loved seeing the baby giraffe.

By Barelymoo |

We love zoos. We go to small zoos and large zoos and always have a good time. Montgomery Zoo was no exception, we had a very good time while there. The big benefit to most small zoos is that you have closer access to the animals (I am sure the animals would prefer more room but it is a catch-22). We enjoyed our day at the zoo but we did notice a few problems from zoo veteran opinions. First, the zoo map was confusing. My wife usually plans out our route by using the zoo map and we seldom have problems. In Montgomery Zoo we found ourselves forced to backtrack to cover everything. There were plenty of signs around the zoo but unfortunately they were all saying "Donated by" insert name or this activity is only so much extra cost. I know the zoo has to support itself but I found it a little disappointing. The lack of educational material about the individual animals also was disappointing. School kids as well as us old folks go to a zoo to learn about animals that we would not see normally. I also was concerned about the large habitats for Africa, South America, etc. While I am sure that is a great way to display them I had a hard time picking out the individual animals and learning about them. There were a few of the Habitats that I really liked. The Lion habitat was my favorite while my friend was very enthused about the elephant exhibit. My wife really enjoyed being able to get such good pictures of the animals while going through. All in all, we would go back. It is a nice small zoo, wish it had AZA reciprocity with more zoos as we are members of other zoos already.

The Montgomery Zoo was a fantastic weekend getaway for my family. We got there early. Weather was perfect,no lines, and allowed us to roam without the crowds. It is well kept and animal attractions are secure for little ones. My favorite attraction was the skyline. It took us over the zoo and was a comfortable ride for my husband, myself, and our three year old.

By Flightmed29 |

Fun exhibits. You can spend the whole day walking with your family. You can pet some animals, there is a parakeet cage that they land on you. They have lions, tigers, bears, rhinoceros', monkeys, pigs, giraffes, and birds. We'll go back. The food is expensive and gross. You can leave and come back (that's what we did).

By June C |

Enjoy a good experience for families and larger groups. Fun for all ages as well as educational programs offered. Special seasonal programs as well.

By lindakerr8 |

What a surprise! Took the entire family son, spouse, 3 grandchildren and us; got a military discount which was great. The zoo was clean, animals were well taken care of and a perfect day for the family. Noticed that you can bring a picnic lunch if you wish which would save $$$$ also an added bonus. Small train to ride which is an additional $5.00, for a 10 min ride, kids love it so a must, didn't do sky lift as we had visions of my grandson jumping from chair. Parakeet cage was a hit for our 5 and 7 yr old....a great 4-5 hr day for the price!!!

By KatNap24 |

The Montgomery zoo is small, but it has a lot to offer. The staff is great and grounds are always clean. We are zoo members. Don't miss the Animal Enrichment days that occur several times a year!

By Dropsojup |

The animals seemed well taken care of and had good habitats. There is plenty of shade throughout the park so it is comfortable even on a hot day.

By Dustin H |

Plenty to do. The bird "cage" is fun for children. The giraffes are truly awesome and easy to get close to. Many of the exhibits are easily viewed. The train is fun but a large portion of the ride is not the best of views. If you live here go ahead and get the pass. Saves money.

By Harry395 |

I'm a big fan of zoos and the Montgomery Zoo is a nice place to spend and afternoon. The free-roaming birds and giraffes are main attractions.

By DocT |

Stopped by on my way back from Troy U
Animals are well taken care of.
Takes only about 2 hours to get through the entire zoo.

By chericarmel |

I think this zoo is awesome! The animals seem to be happy and are pretty active. The staff is awesome they are super informative and helpful. The park area is pretty big, the train ride and sky lift are super fun. We can spend 6hrs here and there is still more to see. My kids live it. Montgomery does lots of fun stuff for families so the zoo has tons of fun cool things to do. We have enjoyed it so much I got an annual pass. We will be going again tomorrow.
Also the organization that runs the Montgomery zoo is affiliated with a bunch of other zoos so your annual pass gets you into those zoos for free also, and ones that are not free are discounted. Which I think is awesome being we travel often and always visit the zoos where we go. I definitely recommend this zoo for a fun filled day if your in Montgomery

By randolph |

This zoo is very clean and the animals are well taken care of, the animals looked very healthy. They have a parakeet place where you can feed the birds, you have to pay a small price for food that comes on a stick and the parakeets will sit right on your hand. Giraffes you can feed also for a small price. They also have a small children's zoo that is free , where the children can hand brush the goats and llamas. You can bring your own food and drink in this zoo. Would very much recommend this zoo.

By tinkerbsb |

The have lots of free parking across the street. I have a feeling it would get quite crowded on certain days, like say a weekend. We went on a weekday and still saw a lot of people. But we managed to see everything without too many people in our way and were leaving just as it started to get hot. We did take water with us which was a good thing and an umbrella tucked away just in case it rained but it didn't. They have bathrooms in a couple different spots and a wild array of animals. The gift shop was ok we each brought a couple of things.

I LOVE going to Zoos in different areas, but nothing beats the hometown view! Love this zoo and I will always come back.

By KenS7 |

I loved this zoo. It's not a big as the Birmingham Zoo, but the Mann Museum made it worth going. Also loved the Skylift, and I'm afraid of heights!

By Tishmango |

The zoo was fun! The sky lift was particularly fun for sightseeing. Our children enjoyed the playground too. Many habitats but several seemed very small, especially for black panther. ☹️

By srp09 |

We stopped to break up a road trip to the beach. The zoo seemed run down and not well taken care of. There were also wasps everywhere. The one positive thing I will say is there was a lot of shade along the paths. Birmingham's zoo is a lot better for same price.

By Cherylnfamily |

We purchased a family membership (with train oasis) and have not been disappointed! If you are considering a zoo membership, they reduce prices in march during their membership drive. Kids live the playground, and there is a lot of variety to see. We love visiting the tigers, feeding the giraffes (about$3), the elephants and spider monkeys.

By madmanmike1980 |

Decent zoo. Small, but still has a wide variety of animals much like Birmingham Zoo, This zoo has one advantage over Birmingham Zoo due to the fact that this zoo has the Mann Nature Museum. It's a must-see!

By Tonya A |

I love the montgomery zoo. This was the first time ever riding the skylift. The trees were really tall and our feet hit some of the leaves. We had a blast but it was so hot.!!

By Cyn G |

We're not regular zoo visitors so this zoo seemed huge but it's probably because we had to back track several times to see the animals we were looking for. We also had to stop employees at one point. Their maps are awful & they have next to ZERO markings to indicate directions. It was very frustrating. The park was clean & there were many patrons on labor day weekend. Only a few exhibits were closed. All of the animals were inactive so decent photos were almost impossible. They don't exercise them enough. Plus interaction with the animals is extremely poor. I couldn't even get a decent picture of a monkey because they were so far away. The train was ok. Lasted longer then I expected. Brush was overgrown so we couldn't see the animals the conducter was pointing out. Need to improve the maps, need closer interactions to all the animals, & road markers (hippos left, rhinos right etc)

By Carlie |

Absolutely love Montgomery and try to take my children a few times a year since we are only 2 hours away. WELL KEPT UNLIKE BIRMINGHAM. If you are making a trip for a zoo, Montgomery is the best option!! The birds even talk back to you!

By Harry S |

Although the zoo "closes" at 5:30, the animals go into their cages at 4:00 so don't bother going if you can't get to the zoo by 2:00.

By Malinda U |

We enjoyed our visit to the Montgomery Zoo. It is a small zoo, and a little older, but you can really get up close to the animals. Our kids loved the otter exhibit where you can feed the otter as well as watching him in the water and in his enclosure. You can also feed the sting rays - a unique experience. One of the best parts of the zoo was the playground - it was large, well maintained, and a great place to run off some energy.

By CUSH1976 |

I came for a Zoo conference and had a very good time visiting the Zoo. The layout is great and there are several ways to see the Zoo There is a sky ride that takes you over some of the exhibits, a train that takes you around the Zoo and spacious walking paths. They have a well rounded collection of animals and birds many cohabitant as they would in the wild..

By Walter S |

Went with our granddaughter(12). I found it to be reasonably priced with quite a variety of animals. We’ve visited a lot of zoos over the years and have not seen a number of species found here in Montgomery. Rode the sky lift which takes you above the giraffes and lions. Nice view. Only thing I did not like was the pricing to feed some of the animals. Expensive for all the food received. If not for that I would have rated it a 5.

By tab845 |

I was escaping Hurricane Matthew at my sisters house in Alabama when she and her son took us to the zoo. It was a wonderful sunny day and the zoo was charming and the animals well cared for. I highly recommend the $3 private walk out to the giraffes. Clean bathroom and friendly staff, especially in the gift shop.

By Mama B |

The Montgomery zoo is not large of particularly impressive. It has good walking paths and a nice playground. You can bring your own food which helps lower your costs. They've added the Mann museum as part of the membership price and that's nice because it is not worth paying for separately. If you are local it is worth it otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way to see this zoo.

By homewood_traveler41 |

This zoo isn't as big as some others but has many animals I've never saw before and I've visited most of the zoos located in the southeast. Very clean , fair price for admission and gift store items.

By Connie L |

We hadn't been to a zoo in a few years and our son had requested a zoo trip. We had high expectations of the zoo as we are familiar with the larger St. Louis MO Zoo. This zoo was much smaller. I was a little disappointed in the price. We were charged an admission as well as extra for the sky lift and feeding the giraffes. The zoo really needed to do some cleaning. There was a lot of trash around and in the cages. It was a very friendly atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We would return if in the area again.

By SteveK28762 |

We arrived early morning (having planned to visit the previous day but arrived to find the zoo closed for a private event), so were ready to as soon as the gates opened.
Very nice place to visit, with a large variety of animals to see, all looked after very well. Definitely worth a visit.

By Tim G |

If you are looking for a fun outing that the kids will love, checkout the Montgomery Zoo. There are zoos that are larger, but none more animal and visitor friendly. Confinement to small displays are limited to those animals which would endanger other animals or the public - or would fly away. The exhibits attempt to replicate the residents' natural habitat. Every attempt is made to provide ample room for movement and exercise.

The public enjoys spacious walkways, trees, and other foliage, as well. The refreshment pavilion is located near the center of the park. Shade, food, beverages, and rest rooms offer the opportunity to take a break and discuss what the next adventure affords. Children of all ages enjoy the train ride and the sky lift elevating the riders across the zoo's grounds. There is also a playground to accommodate the more energetic kids.

You will not be disappointed in your visit to the Montgomery Zoo in Montgomery, Alabama.

By Greg2117 |

The Montgomery zoo is pretty decent size for this area. It’s also reasonably priced and has some exciting and well laid out exhibits. The enclosures have great views of the animals and they have all of the big attraction animals you can ask for. They do a great job of educating the public and their zoo day is a huge help attraction with additional things for the kids to do like bounce houses, rock walls, and other assorted characters walking around. I highly recommend it.

By Ladonna I |

I visited this zoo the first time in 98. It was good then and it is even better now. They obviously pay a lot of attention to providing good habitats. The size of the zoo and the layout make it perfect to take children of all ages. The layout is a hub and spoke design. So that you can walk around the perimeter with children and when grandparents get tired they can rest in a central courtyard that is assessable through each spoke of the zoo. They have added a sky lift that is very nice, there is a train, some paddle boats, a place where you can feed a giraffe, a playground, and much more. Not really enamoured with the Mann Wildlife and Learning Center which is co-located with the zoo. The center is packed with the trophies of a Alabamian hunter that seems to seek to aggrandize Mr Mann's love of hunting. Not my cup of tea. You will find plenty to do and see without that portion, don't waste your money on that part.

By mmelvin98 |

This is a well maintained little zoo. The animals looked well taken care of and happy/content. Some unusual species too. The only drawback was the train. You really cannot see anything from the train like other zoos. The Mann museum was great. It really let's you get up close and personal with many large predators. The kids as well as adults loved it.

By Steve D |

The layout is open and natural. There is a well defined path from exhibit to exhibit. All of the animals are housed in appropriate environments considering the inherent limitations of keeping animals in confined areas. You do see animals laying about and taking naps. But thats what animals do when they are not hunting for food. Since their food is delivered to them daily, they don't have much reason to put on a show for the tourists. The elephant exhibit was kind of sad. Elephants are very intelligent animals and sometimes will stand and sway back and forth for hours. The smallest elephant was doing that when we got to that part of the zoo and was still at it when we left him an hour later.

If you go, take your own food. We made the mistake of eating at their snack bar/restaurant. It is clearly run by the lowest bidder. The food is mediocre and overpriced. And the lowest bidder was clearly not service oriented. It took us over an hour just to get the food.

Its a great smaller zoo and would make a good outing for the family.

By kableton |

The zoo offers a wonderful experience with well-maintained exhibits, friendly staff, and a great variety of animals. Perfect for families and nature lovers. Fun for all ages.

By Danny C |

Not a huge zoo but has a ton of things to see packed into it. Lots of animals on open type areas and even a lift that takes you over the entire zoo for a great overview. Food is available and there s even a train that runs through the entire property that both kids and adults will enjoy. Always clean and staff is very helpful.

By Beth H |

I love to go to any zoo but it can be hard to get my family to want to stop. It was super hot that day but my daughter loves wall art painted by animals and we knew they had some. I’m so glad we stopped. It’s a very nice small zoo. Luckily it rained a little so we could cool off. I really enjoyed the zoo. Unfortunately their animal art was not as good as others we’ve found and it was expensive so we never purchased any. Hopefully they can keep working on it.

By Gennie B |

I loved visiting this zoo, it was clean and very well maintained. It's a great place to take your family or for field trips. Their museum was very nice and interesting. They have a lot of exhibits and the sky lift is awesome. The staff is very nice and friendly. Will visit there again.

By Victor H |

We loved this zoo! We brought a five and two year old and spent close to four hours here (we might have stayed longer but it was closing time). The price seemed reasonable compared to other zoos and aquariums we have been to in the area. It is extra to do any of the extras (train ride, sky lift, feed the giraffes), but they are definitely with it.

By LisaMH01 |

Zoobilation is the Anniversary celebration of the local zoo. Tickets are sold on-line as well as through the zoo and local papers.
There are local restaurants as well as beverage companies represented and beer and wine available in the evening. Local band and news personality help to host this event that brings in an annual fund used to further the attractiveness of the zoo and to expand upon the current zoo outlay.
Zoobilation is a great time for family and friends.

Visited with the daughter and grandson and had a great time. Got a discounted rate that made the first impression great. Large zoo with the full gambit of wildlife and it appears that the staff is well trained and attentive. There's the typical zoo cafeteria with zoo prices so be prepared for that. Overall a really good experience. Enjoy!

The people in charge is very nice and try to meke your visit a pleasant one.
We happen to visit sonce we had to evacuate Florida due to hurricane Irma and the zoo had special rates for the evaquees; from my heart thanks

My wife loves zoos and I travel for work so we've been through several. This one was great, the zoo layout makes it impossible to get lost. It's not the biggest zoo, but in this case it's a good thing. The food was reasonably priced, and the selection and condition of the animals was great.

By lexicsmith3 |

My family and I went while bringing along some of my younger cousins and they loved it! From the kangaroos to the buffalos, they loved it all! They also really loved getting to pick out a stuffed animal at the gift shop!

A great zoo, well laid out with many themes and animals. I was surprised. We will return to see what we missed or view what is new.

By Jonathan C |

I have been to the Montgomery Zoo plenty of times. Every time is more fun than the last. My family and I go every chance we get. They are always improving the Zoo. And they are always adding something new for everyone to enjoy.

By CJ B |

The Montgomery Zoo is a nice medium sized zoo. The animals are divided by continent and you can easily spend 4 hours wandering if you take your time. I would like to see more interactive exhibits and shows, but it is still a nice, well maintained facility.

By Nwojlo |

Nice zoo not very big but lot to see. Very clean and people were nice. Have a sky lift ride also a train ride for kids and paddle boats. Just $15 a person to get in. How ever that don't include the sky lift or boats. But still not bad for a fun day with the family.

By Twinmom1313 |

I think we have been to about nine zoos. This one is smaller so I really didn't expect much. I was quite surprised! The layout was good. There were rides/activities. I must say that the animals looked happy and well taken care of. The staff was friendly. The Mann Museum is a must see!

I first took my granddaughter when she was very young, and she seemed mesmerized with all the animals and people, sights, and sounds!!! Last Christmas, we took her on the train ride to see the C'mas lights, and she was really impressed (at age 3)!

By Lisa D |

Save your money! We took our granddaughter today and it was very disappointing! It's been a few years since we have gone and it will be a while til we ever return! It used to be a great zoo! Not sure if funding is low or attendance to support the zoo. So many exhibits closed, very dated enclosures, no more petting zoo and my favorite, no more bird cage enclosure to go into and pet the birds! The only good part was the Mann exhibit building. The rhinos nor the hippo enclosures had water for the animals to soak or play in. The sky lift was shut down. The train ride was so boring with no animals to even look at! More kids playing on the playground than walking inside the zoo seeing animals! The grounds used to be pretty bit it's just old leaves and dirt and lacks luster. The inside exhibit for the reptiles was so dingy and not much to see. There were more cobwebs to look at vs. the reptiles! I'm sad this used to be so fun.

This is an excellent zoo for a small city. They have many animals that are normally found in larger zoos. My wife especially enjoyed the petting zoo. We took the train ride. This was pretty much a waste of time. I thought the train would take us through the zoo and close to the animals. This was not the case. Skip the train and walk the zoo. It is a bit pricey but it is worth it.

By viatorterrarum |

The zoo is very well designed and kept, animals have lots of space and visitors can stroll around the grounds enjoying the beautiful scenery and peace of the environs

By Stang315 |

This is a very nice zoo. It's not large but does have a good variety of animals, birds and most of everything you would expect to see at a zoo. They do a good job of showing the animals in somewhat their natural habitat. We've been twice over a two year period as we do not visit Montgomery all that often but both times a big part of the displays in the "reptile house" have always been closed for repair or upgrades. Don't know what's up with that.

By Victoria S |

It was a nice place to take the kids alot of interesting things to look at and do.the kids enjoyed it.

By Clementine M |

My grand kids and I spent time at the Montgomery Zoo (approximately 2 1/2 hours). It was quite "hot" during our visit however, this was a planned visit with a 12 year-old and a two-year old. While our experience was nothing less than a positive one it was too hot for the animals to come out of their natural habitats to allow visitors to see them . Interestingly, we did see the tiger and elephants at their best. Enjoyed the quality time with my grands.

By tommyjenks5 |

We had a great day at the zoo! The Cafe is expensive but that's to be expected. The birds were a lot of fun and the sky lift was great to look out over the zoo.

By Southernnow |

We've been to much larger zoos, but this one is very clean, well laid out. Was surprised at just how many animals we saw. Mid-week in Feb. had very few visitors. Nice gift shop also.

By brittanybee38 |

Though you could easily spend $40 on a single person here, it is completely worth it. From feeding the giraffes to take a lift over the zoo this place is great for friends and family. My friends have gone at least five times in the past few years.

By Kenneth O |

Had some extra time and decided to go to this zoo. Didn't expect much because of the size. --Was I wrong! This zoo although small in size was Terrific. So many animals close up. I live in San Antonio and been to the Large Zoo there. This Alabama zoo was so much more enjoyable because their animals weren't hidden away or so far away you can't see them. Several exhibits had Live staff present speaking to guests with lots of information. Very Nice and well done landscaping. I actually went in October 2022 . I write this review now because I will be visiting again in October 2024. Probably going to visit again. Worth the visit!

By hollings04unc |

Last minute decision that we are glad we did. It was hot but worth the walk. Enjoyed the water mist that the zoo provided through the walk

By crkoenigsfeld |

Clean, easy walking, not crowded, animals were moving around. The kids were able to easily see the animals. Allow 2-2 1/2 hours.

By Afoye77 |

Beautiful zoo loved how close the animals are. Went in early Oct the Weather was amazing animals seemed to love it, but crazy that it's $15 a person. Will only visit once a year

By Tommie S |

This is an awesome zoo! Be prepared to spend the whole day here. There is so much to see and do. Be sure to check out montgomeryzoo.com to plan your day around chair lift rides and giraffe feedings, along with the fabulous food.

By cbrady0625 |

Love the Montgomery zoo. Very clean and helpful staff. Even when they have larger crowds for different events, they have a way of helping the crowd flow move smoothly.

By canaansnana |

The grounds were clean. The thrashroofs in animal pens are torn and in need of repair. The animals have lots of room in most pens. There were not many animals. Birmingham zoo is so much better.

By Bryson C |

We visited this zoo on our way to Fort Morgan. Small zoo and pricey for the size. It was $52 for 2 adults and a 3 year old and a 9 year old. For comparison, this zoo is 40 acres...Louisville Zoo is 135 acres....Louisville costs us $56 to visit. We paid to feed the giraffes and me and my wife both had to buy a cup of food ($5 a cup) even though we were just wanting to take a pic and supervise the children while they fed. The zoo was clean however and the staff was friendly. Paid to feed to birds as well, and not one bird came out to eat. This isn't the zoo's fault, just stinks to pay and not even see a bird come out of the cages. All in all not a bad to just kill some time I suppose.

By Shaina M |

We came on a family outing and had a great time! This Zoo is just the right size and has something for all ages. Our two girls are 21 months and 7 years. They enjoyed all the animals, especially the petting zoo. They also loved the playground. My 7 year old enjoyed feeding the giraffes. Overall, an enjoyable trip! So glad we came!

By Jason W |

I really do enjoy visiting they Montgomery zoo when I get an opportunity to. We got there the later part of the afternoon but we still had plenty of time to visit as we wanted to.The one thing that I did not like was that the train tokens were in a vending machine and they were getting hung up just like a bag of potato chips! I think that it would just be easier to buy your tokens from the train driver and save some time. Other than that it was a pretty cool experience!

By houseofgraces |

This is a great zoo, the set up is easy to follow and enjoy. The enclosures were very tidy and all the animals were visible. Very enjoyable

By Alvin G |

Me and my family loved this zoo. We especially liked the air shuttle ride above the zoo it was beautiful. It was a little scary though because only a little belt is holding you in. They have a train ride that is fun for The kids. Food is pricey. I recommend bringing your own but I think you have to eat outside the zoo. Feeding the giraffes is pretty cool. In the summer months wear sunblock, shades and hats. They isn't much shade. All mother's get in free on Mother's day.

By MaShawn S |

The Zoo experience was nice! The children really enjoyed feeding the giraffes. The Museum experience is a must! It is very educational, as well as entertaining.
The weather was nice too...

By Vyomita |

Just go there on weekend , best time to visit is october to december , also will be good weather too.

By LilyandTatesMom |

Our family visited on our way from St. Louis to Destin. The zoo wasn't crowded, the staff was helpful and pleasant and all of the animals except the monkeys were visible. We were able to see the Pygmy hippo baby and the Jaguar twins up close and watch them interact with their moms and the ability to feed the giraffes was amazing. This was a great stop during our trip to the beach with a toddler.

By Glenda D |

I loved it ..
It was a great experience...easy to move around.great for adults and kids...a place to go if ur go to this area

By Emma M |

Enjoyed the zoo very much. Great seating and resting area for us seniors. A lot of interesting animals there, grands enjoyed it very much.

By Gail Z |

Spent a beautiful day in a great little zoo! Very clean and good variety of animals. Some of the walkways were a little rough in spots but, overall easy going. Good place for walking. Will definitely be visiting again & often.

By Gretchen T |

This was a great zoo with lots of shade and nice, big enclosures for the animals. We spent almost a whole day minus about an hour and a half. There were animal training demonstrations for the lions and the elephants which were interesting. The restaurant was situated in the center of the zoo and overlooked a few of the animals making lunch a little more fun! One of my favorite things was feeding the giraffes. It's $3 for a cup of straw, but well worth it since you get up close and personal with them. Otherwise you have to look at them from a little more of a distance. All the animals looked healthy and comfortable and were fairly active making for a fun day!

By asweets148 |

We just moved here from northern VA and were very impressed with this zoo! It's a must see for families with children of all ages! We bought a membership and plan on coming back often!

By Vince S |

had a blast. lots of interaction with the animals and the sky lift is great
love the otters and the Alligators

By ashlynboulton |

My boyfriend and I went on a Monday afternoon; we got there around 12:45 PM and did not leave until 4. Perfect day to go because it was not packed or super crowded. The zoo offered a lion training session at 1:30, which we went to and was fun to watch. There was also an elephant keeper chat at 2:30 which was also really neat because the elephants were pretty up close and the elephant keeper was super friendly and very knowledgeable. The zoo is a decent size, they have a pretty good amount of animals and a nice variety. They let the peacocks roam around freely. Some enclosures are relatively small for the animals that are in them particularly the big cats. We loved the skylift they have that you can ride for $5 each that takes you over the entire zoo. So cool to be able to see the zoo and the animals from above. Also we really enjoyed the giraffe encounter, in which you get to feed the two giraffes they have at the zoo. It is $3 each and they give you food to feed the giraffes and a souvenir cup to keep! Overall, a nice zoo. Would definitely recommend!

By Maerina |

My grandkids absolutely loved our visit especially feeding the baby giraffe and watching the monkeys play! The Overlook Cafe was great!

By PaulaLaLaB |

Fun day at the zoo with my family. Teen liked it. Nice exhibits. Small zoo. Friendly staff. Clean. We fed the giraffes and did the sky rail ride. Lots to do. Overall a fun day. We were able to see the zoo and the Mann museum within 3 hours. I probably wouldn’t do the museum again. It was ok.

By jbj90 |

My wife and I stopped here while traveling back from a weekend getaway. At first, I didn't expect much, but my mind was quickly changed. This zoo appears to be an older zoo, and could use some updating (particularly at the signs of each exhibit). However, the most of the exhibits were very nice and seemed more than adequate for the animals. They offer a train ride for $3 and a chair lift ride for $5. We did the train, but I wish we had did the chair lift instead. One does not see anything special on the train; it just drives around the perimeter of the zoo. One particular thing that impressed me is the care that they took to make sure every exhibit is handicap accessible. They even had things set up so a lady in a wheel-chair could ride the train. If you are ever in Montgomery, take the time to visit this zoo.

By Julie |

While I did choose one of the hottest days of the year to visit the Montgomery zoo last August, it was an enjoyable experience. We have a Birmingham Zoo membership and appreciate the reciprocity with many other zoos across the nation (our New Orleans zoo membership unfortunately does not have this feature). The zoo was well laid out by geographic region (Africa, Australia, North America, etc) and admission also included the Mann Wildlife Learning Museum. The Mann Museum was older, but a welcomed air conditioned retreat from the hot, August humidity. My son loved not only seeing the animals roaming outside, but also the stingray pools and opportunities to ride the train. Ample parking is available close to the entrance which makes it easy to run back out to the car if needed.

By Tara O |

We always have fun at the zoo. Lots to do for a great price! Try the sky lift or the train, ride a pony, feed the birds.

By Bill S |

It may appear small but has a lot of different aminals and birds. They are well displayed and cared for.

By Alane H |

I have been to the zoo several times in the past, but this was the worst experience I have had. They are doing some construction and landscaping. There were tractors and small trucks going down the walking paths loaded down with tree limbs. It would’ve been better if they had shut down the zoo for a week and done that work. When I went to buy tickets, I was told that everyone going out to the giraffe encounter had to pay. When we got to the giraffe encounter, it said two and under are free, yet I had paid for my 18 month old granddaughter. When we went to ride the train, there was a sign saying that the train ran every hour on the hour. We had just missed it and it was one of our last stops so we did not get to ride the train. Had we been told when we purchased our tickets what the train schedule was we would have planned our visit differently. The aquarium facility had very few live animals in it. There were several outdoor animal exhibits with no animals. Some of the exhibits had animals, but we did not see them because they had gone inside. The reptile facility was closed, and they were several exhibits that were being reconstructed or newly constructed. All in all it just wasn’t worth going to.

By Headhunter2001 |

You can walk/see the entire zoo in just a few hours (no hills) but there are plenty of animals to see in natural enclosures. I was not expecting to see elephants and tigers. The giraffe feeding is neat for the kids (you can buy food and hand feed them). We also enjoyed the ski lift type sky ride. Also a petting zoo and playground. Well worth a visit if in the area or a membership if local

By camille1919 |

$15.00 per person just for zoo, nothing else. Zoo had limited motorized scooters, so i did not get one. I had to walk entire zoo with my cane, taking many breaks to sit down. I found this zoo to be dirty. The animals had very little if any places to get out of the sun, and the watering holes provided were not deep enough, nor clean. I felt sorry for the animals that were use to submerzing themselves in cool water to escape the heat, there was nothing like that here that they needed at this zoo. The money this zoo makes per person should be used in taking care of its animals, making them comfortable, having clean accesable water to cool off in as well as to drink. Very disappointed.

By camran1101 |

Loved this zoo! Saw baby hippo, fed the giraffe family and rode the train. The zoo is easy to navigate and the staff very helpful. There is a huge playground with benches and plenty of trees with restrooms close by. Had a fun visit and will be back.

By Cheryl S |

The staff were friendly and helpful. The zoo is well kept and animals were well cared for. Sky tram was awesome. The train ride takes you around the perimeter and you don't see any animals. We really enjoyed this zoo!

By Linda M |

We used to live in Montgomery and now come back to visit. My older son (12) loved this place when he was younger and we introduced his sister (3) to the zoo over Memorial Day weekend. She loved feeding the giraffes and the parakeets. The petting zoo and playground were a hit. Riding the train through the zoo is great. Both kids still enjoyed it. Well worth the admission.

By cpr101 |

Great time and very clean. The lay out is not confusing and the Walk way are nice and clean. Price is very reasonable. Staff is friendly the cafe is really expensive

By Noelle K |

We enjoyed the zoo! I purchased a year membership and went with my son's class field trip. It was a great time! We loved the layout of the zoo, there was more shade than I was expecting. The cafe was great! I enjoyed their burger and loved the A/C. The kids LOVED the food and the park at the zoo. The park has play equipment that is different from the other parks around town. We also had the chance to ride the train and pet/brush the animals in the petting zoo. It was a great day!

By Justin C |

Very old zoo didn't seem to well kept. I came from Florida to visit family and decided the zoo would be a great place to take them. But got there and it was empty. The animals seemed super stressed and some of them even looked very sick. Not saying it was a bad trip but could have been much better.

By 262patriciaa |

I've been coming to the zoo for many years, over 37 years. It has really grown. The kids love to ride the train, especially when there are decorations like during Christmas or Halloween. We usually eat at the restaurant and the food is fairly tasty. The kids always have a great time. There is a pray ground for the kids to play on while a parent rests on a bench. Very enjoyable!!

By Timothy B |

A easy walk around the animals ,with many having different viewing areas.great for the family or a little get away.most educational for the young and young at heart.

By TennesseePostcard |

It’s bigger than the map makes it look. The staff was friendly and the grounds were well maintained. Military receive $1 off admission ($17). Free parking. $3 giraffe encounters. They also have a sky lift, but I didn’t see anyone use it. The gift shop was pricey. A magnet cost me $8. I was disappointed they didn’t have any postcards.

By Robi |

Good visit. Clarity in signage may need addressing. Sunday may not be the best day for a visit. Concessions closed. Minimal staffing.
Train ride not the best. It was just a ride. PA system appeared to be in place during the ride but the conductor offered no insight about the attractions. His rapport with customers needs improving. As soon as the ride stopped he was
Gone. We all were on our own.
Vending machine for tickets needs attention

By Ashlee S |

We took our daughter here for her birthday and she loved it. She's 4. There are lots of animals to see and even a park for the kids to play.

By paganpast |

Upon entering the zoo, you are given a wristband and a map of the zoo. Although the attraction's parking lot was full, we did not get the sensation of overcrowding. There is a great variety of large and small land and aquatic animals. The kids will especially like the petting zoo. Much of the area of the zoo consists of a large lake, and you can rent paddle boats to explore this body of water. There is also a train ride that encircles the area, and a skylift for a different perspective. Plenty of benches for those who tire of walking. It is small enough to take in in one day, but that is a pretty complete day. We found the trip very worthwhile.

By rposey6844 |

This zoo reminds me of what I think safari lands would look like! We really enjoyed the open expanse. Be sure to ride the ski lift cars over the animals!

By Donnie B |

This is a great zoo. Families love it, it has really grown, lots of animals, really a beautiful, neat place to spend a day with the family!!

By LeeLee |

We visited on a sunny Monday. It was $42 for me and my niece for admission, train ride, and sky lift. We paid an additional $2 to feed the parakeets. It was toasty on the sky lift on such a hot day. The train ride was pleasant and provided a cool breeze.
I loved that the majority of animals had partners, buddies, or families. There was a turtle in the reptile house that I thought needed a bigger tank or at least more water; he was pretty big. The zoo is full of turtles which I love! I have five of my own. And I loved the baby hippos!
The only disappointment was the petting zoo was closed. The engineer thanked us for riding the train. I left my pennies in the car for the smooshed penny machine, and the lady in the gift shop gave me two. We loved the visit, and the staff was great! I was impressed by the special needs playground, and they had several water fountains on the grounds.

By Susan H |

Great little zoo and better than many in cities twice this size! Well taken care of animals, thoughtful placing of exhibits. Up to date habitats. I've been a member for many years and never tire of going. We've been to many zoos all over, and this is still one of our favorites. Well done.

By Cornelius F |

No flamboyant paragraphs this time. Great spot for a spontaneous fun outing......or maybe a quick date. Sky ride costs 5 per person (dont lose your shoes in the lake like my son did).

By Heatherk321 |

This zoo is very small compared to others that I’ve been to. The animals are in small cages and don’t look well taken care of. The flamingos don’t have any room and their area smells awful. The black panther and other animal are in a very small cages with no room to run around. A few animals were off exhibit. The train ride was the highlight of the zoo. My 4 year old loved the train and we rode it 2 times.

By David M |

The Montgomery Zoo is a great zoo. I've enjoyed visiting this zoo for my entire life and I love taking my kids now too. They have several different world regions on display including North America, South America, Africa, a reptile house, and many other exhibits to enjoy. They even have a Sky Lift where you can ride up over some of the exhibits to get a birds' eye view of the animals. The only thing that I would like to see improved is for the quality of food to match the pricing. Don't forget to check out the Mann Wildlife Museum and also to take the kids on the train ride around the zoo.

By SusanfromtheSouth |

This zoo is so well done and the animals are well cared for and in thoughtful habitats. It's surprisingly nice for this size a city and the indoor Mann museum is an extra bonus. I've lost count of the times we've been. A great and shady place to walk around at leisure and the staff is friendly and helpful. Membership is a great value as well if you live nearby!

By THE-TW0-BEES |

I'm reviewing this as a grandmother who took her 4 year old and 18 month old grandkids for a day out. This zoo was perfect! Just enough animals to keep them interested but not so many that you have to walk miles to see. Speaking of walking, this zoo is FLAT for the most part and easily walkable, stroller and wheelchair friendly. Property was super clean and all the employees there were so friendly and helpful. For $3 you can ride a train that goes around the outer limits of the zoo, you don't get to see very many animals but the kids loved it. $3 will also let you feed the giraffes but not much food is given. Moving to the parakeet sanctuary, $2 will get you a stick with birdseed on it. Hold the stick out and they will come! I had one land on my head, my grandson thought it was hilarious. They have plenty of picnic tables in the shade and even water misting stations for those hot summer days. And, if the kids still have tons of energy and you need a break, they have a huge playground with everything you can imagine, let them play and take a seat in the shade. It's right next to the petting zoo. Had a great time. I hope you do too.

Tips: pack some snacks, food and drinks are allowed, just please check their website for restrictions. (No glass, plastic tops or straws, etc.)
Take some cash $1, $5. Ones especially. Most food comes from vending machines so there are no long lines. Makes it very convenient. If not, you will have to get them at the gift shop or ticket counter.

By oldvetsailor |

We've visited the zoo a number of times, and have always had a positive experience. Considering the size of the city as compared to some with quite notable zoos, Montgomery has a top shelf zoo. A great place to visit, with or without the kids. Educational and entertaining both!

By AroundTheGlobe69 |

We are not from Montgomery but were pleasantly surprised by how special the montgomery zoo is. Well kept/maintained with a nice array of animal exhibits. Not near as large as our Atlanta zoo but a truly special day for the family. In the past few years they've added several interactive exhibits such as hand feeding parakeets and hand feeding giraffes. The sky bucket is a new activity and the kids play ground is a really great stop during your day. We enjoyed it so much we became members on our very first visit.

By Donna C |

We spent $82.00 at the gate and then 20 minutes after we entered the zoo a creepy man with a hunters orange knit cap started following us everywhere we went. When we walked he followed and when we stopped he stopped and stared at the exhibit like he just happened to be at the same place we where. When we changed directions and started the other way he followed us again. I did not see any security except for one small older man riding around in a cart and he said the man was harmless that he was a regular zoo member. I was very uncomfortable so I told my granddaughter we would just come back another day and left. I don't think we will be back at that zoo

By April G |

The prices to get in were quite high for this small zoo. The animal enclosures are so small that I felt mostly bad for the animals. Some attractions were not available and with no explanation for it. Overall, just an average zoo experience.

By austintxdb |

It's not a huge zoo, easy to cover in a couple hours and a nice day out for a family with young children. It had some nice exhibits, and some of the major animals that you'd hope to see at a zoo, lions, tiger, giraffes, etc. I particularly enjoyed the young elephant swimming and playing in the water on such a hot day. There are also some activities that were available for a small fee, that were not out of line, sky ride, paddle boats, train, etc,, including the Mann Museum, which was a nice quiet place, with soothing music and air conditioning and many exhibits, which was a nice way to escape the oppressive heat of the day. It was a nice way to spend the day.

By Muslimah S |

I love the facility but everytime me and my husband visit some of the land animals are zoned out and laying down or sad maybe, I'm not sure. Perhaps they can hire someone to come in and help with this, to improve the health of the animals and make them feel loved.

By travelinggists |

We loved our visit to the Montgomery Zoo! They have Christmas lights during December and our 7 year old loved them. They also have great Halloween decorations and fun for the kids. We went to both! The Montgomery zoo is the best zoo in Alabama!

By Jennifer Z |

This was our first visit to this zoo and we were pleasantly surprised! It’s small, but there are a lot of animals and activities packed in there. The Mann Museum was impressive too- lots of exhibits.

By April G |

There was a monkey, a tiger, a rhino, and a bear that were all in their enclosures with no other animals of the same type. These animals are social animals and were alone. A lot of the animals looked sad and lazy... it was a disappointing experience.

By Vanessa W |

Nice zoo we spent a couple hours, recommend the lion training was pretty cool to see how close (without getting in the cage) they get to them. The elephant was pretty cool good photo opps since they are giving them treats so they are moving.

By psherum |

While able to get up close and personal with the animals, the zoo is a bit dated. There are several areas that are corded off that I think should either be fixed/repaired or torn out.
My main gripe is of all the times I've been to the playground area over the past 5 years, the concession stand is NEVER tended/open. A lot of money could be made if this was available to patrons. If not, put some drink/snack vending machines in. The water cooler next to the restrooms didn't work.......it get hot and kids/parents get thirsty....drinks/snacks would be wonderful on location.
The cost of $2 for feeding sticks for the budgies is high compared to the tiny amount of food. To save money, I began picking up the old/used sticks out of the garbage can and let the birds eat off of them.
Our Saturday morning visit and the ticket booth was so slow. Even people who bought tickets on line had to wait in line to get in. There were upwards of 40+ groups/families waiting in line to get in.....could use more than 1 booth open.
Also, I wish there was more seating areas........benches along the paths would be great.

By Msilverman70 |

My wife and I went to the Montgomery Zoo with low expectations. Montgomery, right? Well, we were really blown away by the exhibits and modern facilities. Animals appear to be very well taken care of and the staff strives to really involve the community. We came away impressed and plan on returning.

By Dens_lady |

Visited zoo with granddaughter & family. Our 2 1/2 yr. old Great-grandson enjoyed the open places he was able to walk and be free. Able to hand-feed the giraffes and ride the train. And he loved the interaction with the parakeets. He was able to get one to light on his finger, and it made a great kodak-moment picture to take back home with me. A very nice zoo, but not so 'crazy big' that little ones and great-grandparents can't enjoy it too.

By Holly S |

The zoo has a sky lift that goes over the animals. They also do holiday events which are always fun. There is a gift shop and cafeteria as well as a train you can ride. Great place to take the kids to learn about animals.

By Stemic B |

Most of the zoo was nice. The museum was great and some of the animals in the zoo we could see clearly or up close. Train ride was a bust. Can’t see any animals from the train, only trees and buildings even though their signs say otherwise. Sky ride risky and limited views. Food was extremely over priced. Some of the experiences were broken, closed or remodeling.

By Bill A |

Very nice Zoo, all the animals look very happy and healthy. The staff we talked to were very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. Several different species here so something for everyone.

By BaylorMom |

Not a bad little zoo if you are looking for something outside to do. You could do the whole zoo between 2/3 hours. Skip the train, really wasn’t worth the extra $3 a person. Train was supposed to depart at 1:00 per sign, driver showed about 1:15 and obviously, wanted to be anywhere else but there. There was an issue with purchasing tickets from driver, so instead of taking tickets from those who had purchased at window, the whole line was held up. Finally, someone suggested, those who needed tickets to go to the gift shop - this took about 35 minutes to figure out. You don’t see many animals on the ride so you won’t miss anything by skipping this part. Zoo is dated in areas, but there were repairs happening while we were there. Small zoo, but nice couple of hours to spend outside.

By Zeewoman |

Been years since I've been here. Several exhibits need to be upgraded. Animals look unhappy. Nice easy walking set up.

By Dean A |

This probably one of the worst experiences we have had for a family. It costs $15 for everyone, unless you were 3 or under. We had four in our household so it was $60. There were NO discounts either. All you saw were the xmas lights. The train was working so as an alternative they let you ride the ski lift. The only animals we saw out were the ones in the petting zoo (lama, goats, and ducks), saw some flamingo's, and some guess. It was really a huge waste of time and especially the money. Save your money and go during the day when you can see all the animals. If you want to see lights drive around the city or other areas and save your money cause this ain't worth it.

By Rhonda H |

Beautiful zoo! Great environment...my grandchildren loved it. I am glad that Montgomery has such a zoo.

By Ann B |

My children gave my husband and I a yearly pass to the Montgomery Zoo. On many occasions we have taken our grandchildren. We enjoy having a picnic lunch, riding the train, and playing on the playground. The zoo is always very clean. A great place to have family time without spending a ton. We will definitely renew our membership.

By L J F |

My grandson chose this as what he wanted to do on Saturday. It is a small but he had a great time. The kids can ride the train and there is also a sky-lift which takes you across the zoo and back. The thing he liked best was feeding the giraffes. We had a great time. The train, lift and giraffes are not included in the price of admission, but the price is not bad. Be sure to take extra cash.

We have two toddlers and since Montgomery doesn't really have much to offer, the Zoo is the place to be!!
Every year we get the membership for the family. They have an AMAZING playground which both kids really enjoy! Also, their petting zoo is really cute and fun. You can feed the goats by purchasing food through the vending machine ($2). You can Also feed the Giraffes ($3). They have a cute little cafe in there where you can have like a picnic. Also there are designated tables you can rent out for a birthday party, it's right by the playground. There are times when you can see the zookeeper talk about the animals (usually around 2:30).
The gift shop has some neat things and ice cream to cool you off on those summer days. Oh, and you can also rent out strollers from them, not sure how much they are though, we've never had to; we just always brought our own stroller or the radio flyer wagon. The sky lift and train are a favorite of ours, and of course they cost extra too. At the entrance you'll get a map that tells you where each animal is.
Highly recommend the Zoo!!

The Montgomery Zoo has always been a favorite spot for my family and I. The animals are well taken care of and the staff are very knowledgeable on care taking. They also have certain times for certain animals when they do training and Q&A's. It's definitely worth the visit!

By Lacy C |

The entrance fee was $15/person with no discounts for any reason and was not worth it. We were very disappointed. If you wanted to get the free train ride, the wait in line was two hours.

One of the cleanest, interesting zoos I've visited. Adult & child friendly, & also a fun chair lift for view from the air. Especially fun at night during Christmas.

By oldvetsailor |

Very well maintained and highly rated zoo. Very much worth a day's visit for all!! Highly recommended for singles, couples or families

By Pufftastic |

Great zoo for such a small city. Variety of large and small animals. Has a big playground as well for the kids to run off their energy. The only down side is that they start putting the animals away at 4:30 so try not to get there after about 3pm. 9am on Sunday's is best because there are few crowds and it's still cool. I highly recommend the annual members you see yourself going more than twice as it will pay for itself.

By mvidich |

Great zoo for a trip with our 2 and 4 year old grandkids. Had animals, train ride, and a zip line. The big hit with the kids was being allowed in the bird aviary and getting to buy food sticks to hold so that the birds could perch. We went during the heat of the day and the animals were a little sluggish. Don't know if the heat caused this or not. Should have researched and found out when they would feed animals. I have other family members that also went last year and the animals were active. We bought food at the zoo and it was OK. Carry your own drinks and food if you want to save money. We enjoyed this zoo better than the Birmingham Zoo that we visited 7 years ago.

Spent an entire day with all three kids ages 21 months to 9 years. Advice : being a little cash for feeding animals and train tickets. It's worth renting a stroller since they have steering wheels and a shade cover. Totally kept the baby occupied! Bring sack lunches as the Cafe is WAY over priced for what you get. The animals are amazing!! The park is well kept. We loved our visit!

Having a young daughter means that zoo memberships are a "must have." The Montgomery Zoo compares favorably with zoos in Oklahoma City, Tucson, and Phoenix. All have a similar vibe and set of attractions. Feeding the parakeets is a favorite in Montgomery. They also have a pair of black panther cubs, although mom is the real attraction!!! Easy to walk around in an hour or spend the whole day…well worth the visit.

By meganlouise |

So, the zoo itself was great!
Lots of animals in giant, "natural habitats". Nothing in tiny cages.
Our toddler was obsessed with the train that runs through the whole zoo. (unfortunately every ride is $3)
It's really big, tons to look at. Animals are well taken care of and property is clean.
My one complaint is the location, which obviously isn't something they can change.
We got lost on our way and ended up in surrounding neighborhoods. They were not one's you would dare stop for directions. I was a little nervous about all the belongings in our car, but it was fine.
Just don't get lost!

My 8 year old and I like to visit zoos when we travel to new places. The reviews weren’t that good for the zoo however since we were not in a hurry and was passing it, we decided to stop by. It was very disappointing.

First of all, it was a very hot day. Next, all the animals were either asleep or not out were we could see them. Lastly, the exhibits were spread out which meant a lot of walking just to see nothing. We cut our visit short and headed for the exit.

Not a good experience; actually it was kind of sad thinking about those poor unhappy hot animals. This one, you can skip.

Reasonably priced and lots to do. Family friendly. Petting Zoo, train, chair lift, and play ground. Only thing expensive here is the concessions, which is to be expected.

By ajmingram |

I've visited the Montgomery Zoo many, many times over the course of my life. There have been many improvements over all to what it once was when I was a child.

I have 2 cons for the zoo which is why I gave it 3 stars. 1) It is over priced. From cost of admission to feeding the birds to food or the sky lift you need to be prepared to invest some money. As a zoo member you have some relief from this but it doesn't help those from out of town. 2) Once you've gone to a special event you have seen it. There is rarely new events or exhibits (temporary or permanent). The special events don't change and there is little reason to visit those events year after year.

It was a hot Alabama morning but we still enjoyed the zoo immensely as it has been nicely planned with a lot of tree/plant coverage along the walks for shading. By and large they have decent pens/holding areas for the animals which seemed to be well taken care of. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Due to Covid-19 exhibits and special offerings were very limited. We were still able to enjoy the train ride, which of course is a huge thrill for the kids. A real nice experience.

By rlegal78 |

Animals were well kept and clean habitats. The animals came up close to the glass or cages. It was really neat and they had elephants. I really love going to the zoo and I can say this was a good one to visit. This zoo had a train and sky lift chair you could ride, along with paddle boat rentals. It also was a good size zoo. There is a museum of stuffed animals which was neat and fur pelts you could touch along with information to read. That was really neat as well.

By sherrillk2014 |

The Montgomery, Alabama, Zoo works to improve it's exhibits and give everyone who visits a special time. Fun favorites are the Budgie Aviary where you can feed the beautiful little parakeets and they flock you, as well as the sky ride - a long enjoyable tree top ride over the zoo. The giraffe feeding station is a personal favorite where giraffes lick their black tongues for a bit of hay. The animals all look healthy and well cared for. Visit Montgomery and take a view of the Zoo - you won't be disappointed!

The family went with mother-in-law and brother-in-law. Lights were pretty and the staff was helpful. If you go try to find a time when it is not too hot or cold. We cut the visit short due to cold. Yes, it gets cold in AL. Kids really enjoyed the lights and animals.

By Laura B |

This is a great place to take your family. There's a roof top restaurant that serves good food and lots of nice cold drinks. I especially enjoy the read a longs about each animal that can be a sharing time for children and parents. I also love the train ride and the paddle boats.

I have been to many zoos around the US and the world. While this was not the worst zoo I've ever been to, it was not as good as I expected based on the reviews. Most of the enclosures were woefully small and inadequate for the animals they housed. One of the worst was the Andean Condors. These incredible birds have a wingspan of about ten feet, and the round enclosure was no more than 12 feet in diameter. It was not possible for these two huge birds to fly anywhere. Heartbreaking. The sign in front of the tiny Jaguar enclosure noted their affinity for the water and aptitude for swimming. The "pond" next to them was smaller than a kiddie pool with only a couple of inches of water. Disturbingly, the Emperor Tamarin was missing about 2/3 of its tail and was housed alone, in spite of the fact that these are incredibly social creatures. The sign noted that they often lived amongst other species of monkeys, and there was a large group of spider monkeys nearby, so I wondered why he wasn't with them or some other appropriate group. Very sad. These are just a few of the examples, but most of the other exhibits were obviously too small and had very little enrichment. The admission is pretty cheap, so I guess you get what you paid for. There was also a very notable lack of staffing, so when all the school kids were banging on EVERY window (clearly marked "Please do not tap on the glass"), no one was there to reprimand them, and the chaperones obviously don't care. If you go to this zoo, you absolutely will see most every animal there because there is no where for them to hide.

By dave_meister_67 |

This zoo is very nice, very clean and just an excellent way to spend the day.
We went to the zoo in the late spring and the temp was comfortable. The animals were playful and entertaining to watch. They have a wide variety of animals and some are within reach.

For as far as zoos go...I've been to worse and I've been to better. With Montgomery being the capitol of Alabama, I assumed the zoo would be a large one, but it wasn't. It's an average zoo with the typical animals you would expect...elephants, tigers, lions, monkeys, birds, reptiles, etc. It was a very hot day, so several of the animals weren't out, like the tigers and rhinos. And other animals weren't really active, which isn't the zoo's fault & I understand fully.

Things that make this zoo unique: a ride through the zoo on what it calls a "sky ride" (which is a ski lift that takes you around the zoo), interesting animals that aren't normally featured in zoos (like the Mata Mata Turtle, Albino Reticulated Python, Pygmy Hippo and Jaguar). It also included a learning museum that's included with the admission of the zoo.

By Judy B |

This zoo is perfect for younger children. It had a good variety of animals but not far to walk between exhibits.

By halo_ing |

Montgomery Zoo is always a blast…less when it is super crowded with field trips but even then, it’s a great experience!
The zoo is well maintained. The animals appear to be well cared for, healthy, and content.
There is also a museum that you can walk through to learn more about local animal life.
There are gift shops for the zoo and the museum. Pricing in the gift shops is comparable to that of other gift shops. The food plaza area has an adequate selection of food and drink. You may bring in your own food/drink. The zoo is stroller friendly.

I have been a zoo patron for several years and plan to return in the future.

This is a small zoo, but its the perfect way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon with the children. The animal exhibits are very well kept and the park is clean. There's a lot of animals to look at, the otters being my favorite and there are lots of activities to do, as well. There's a sky lift, the train ride, paddle boats...a restaurant with amazing covered seating that has a 360 degree view of the savannah, and I can't forget the up-close encounter with the giraffes. There's an awesome park area to take a break with the children and a pretty great museum that costs just a little extra to visit. It's well worth the visit at least once to see the larger than life animal exhibits inside.

Restrooms are clean, staff is friendly. We love this place so much we became members and enjoy it year round, even though its an hour drive from our home.

One of the smallest but BEST zoos we’ve ever visited. We went early on a Sunday morning and the were only a handful of other families. The animals all appear to be happy and healthy. The zoo is extremely clean and well-kept. The enclosures are situated in a way that makes it seem as if you are very close to the animals. The grounds offer lots of shade trees and benches to rest. There extra activities (train ride, feeding a giraffe) are very cheaply priced but lots of fun. The petting zoo was a surprisingly big hit with our children (5 & 12) and the playground was a great way to burn off extra energy. Loved it!

By Ailyag |

When my niece and nephews were younger we took them several times and they always had a good time. They have different things to see at different times of the year,

By R. P. |

Was a wonderful day at the zoo. All the animals were out having a good time. Today was enrichment day. Staff decorated the enclosures with different story book classics with food hidden inside each one. Then the animals were released to have fun with their version of story time and dinner.

By Stephanie B |

When you pull into the zoo, which isn't really near much anything else, you may not think much about it but the zoo is a really expanse in its diverse animals and attractions. We rarely see it all in one trip!

By angiehailey |

We had a great time actually brought my kids and they really enjoyed there selves they offer something for every age

By Lashay C |

Was absolutely great. All about the kids. Was so fun .. And the animals were awsome. Especially feeding the giraffe.

By dromano13 |

Love everything about the zoo. We have gone dozens of times and it is always a joy. The best part is feeding giraffes from a deck. The children love it! Food is decent and reasonably priced. Some exhibits are getting worn and outdated but the zoo continues to upgrade! Great family day!

By bless235 |

I took 3 of out preteen grandkids for the day and we had a great time seeing all the animals and riding the rides. It was a good day!

By bj75nt |

Surprisingly good! A really good collection of animals, well kept in a nice layout, clean enclosures and clearly well maintained. Go along for the lighting of the Christmas light if you are around at the time. Love the giraffes

By Pianoandy13 |

Small but well designed park with a lot packed in. Fun train ride, nice Pavillion, great shaded paths for hot summers. Truly, for a small park, it packs a big impact and is preferable to other Zoos I have visited. Tons of animals. Love the otters.
The old part of the park is in dire need of update though the reptile room and caged bird walks through are fun. The stinky wolves HAVE to go. A big reason I don't go much as they smell a large part of the Zoo as the smell is unbearable.
The large animal enclosures are extremely small, especially for elephants and giraffes, nearly to the point I feel uncomfortable about it.
I still love this park and enjoy every visit. Wish the city could expand this small gem.

We love the zoo. I recommend a family season pass with train pass if you plan to go more then once a year.

By james n |

Lots of animals and exhibits to see allow at least four hours to see everything. Children will love the experience.

By Merle C |

It's not the San Diego Zoo but it was fun. Our 8 year old sons really enjoyed it even though it was HOT! Lots of shade and we saw some things we never saw before like the jaguar. Feeding the giraffe was also fun for the twins. Overall it was a clean place to visit but wish they could find some more corporate sponsors to spruce things up. An affordable and memorable experience for sure.

By Blazer_Guy |

We would check out the zoo. I love zoo's. This had a quite large varsity of animals, birds, which you feed with nectar cups, Kids love this. Reptile and snakes. They even have a sky ride which takes you over the park, and you can see the animals looking right down over them . For 50 cents or so, you can feed the Giraffes, and have their tongues eat out of your hand. That was awesome.

The one thing that did disturb me was the small amount of roaming area for the elephants, and other large animals. You can see the are very well taken care of but I felt like they were all living in a small condo . Would come back again for sure

By gatorbyrd23 |

We were pleasantly surprised on how big and entertaining the zoo was. There is a train ride, pedal boats and you can feed giraffes. Had a blast and so did my 12 and 14 year old.

By jeffjourney2016 |

We are traveling through the area and wanted an interesting stop to spend a few hours. It took us 3 hrs to amble past all the exhibits including the natural history museum. Our party included a wide age range: me, my adult daughter, my 14 yo son and 10 yo daughter. The variety of animals and being able to get fairly close to many of the animals provided enjoyment for us all. We didn't opt to take part in any of the for pay experiences nor did we eat here. I found the Mann natural history museum interesting as I have a son interested in bow hunting. There are displays of many bows and arrows complete with handwritten letters explaining the history and use of the bows. Also being able to get close to preserved specimens of many poisonous insects and other creatures can be a great education tool.

My son loved this zoo. Although we have been to a bigger zoo (in London UK), this one was quite nice. It had animals from 5 continents and it was really interesting. My son even made a "friend". One of the birds started to chase him around and tried to land on his shoulder. It was littlebit funny (my son thought that too). We took the train around the zoo, I would say, we should have skipped it. But the skyride was worth it.

By ramram14 |

We drove down from Birmingham on a Saturday because we were looking for something different to do, and based on the other reviews we decided to give it a shot.

When we got there the line to purchase tickets was rather long but it moved surprisingly quickly and the employees were friendly and personable. Once inside, the zoo is not as big as what you find in larger cities but that's okay because they've done a lot with the space they have. Plus it's not nearly as crowded as larger zoos tend to be, which was a huge bonus for us because there was no pushing and shoving to try and get a glimpse of the animals. In addition to the animal exhibits there's also a playground and petting zoo for the kids. These are right next to each other and were, understandably, the most crowded areas. We took our time walking through each area and really enjoyed ourselves.

Our favorite part was probably the skylift, which I highly recommend. It was a unique way to view the zoo and, in my opinion, it's one of the features that truly sets this facility apart.

While parts of the facility are noticeably aged, overall the entire area was very clean and you can tell there are quite a few people putting a lot of hard work into making this a nice zoo. We spent a nice, relaxing few hours here (without breaking the bank!). We thoroughly enjoyed the Montgomery Zoo and will definitely be back!

By Bobby K |

We’ve been coming here for years, like 15. It’s a great place for young kids and lots of great animals. Get the membership so you can come multiple times throughout the year. It’s a lot to take in in one day. Make sure and feed the giraffes and see the rhino. I think the rhino is the oldest in the world. I might have made that up, but he is old. Go enjoy the zoo and ride the train. 🚂

By Kandice H |

Perhaps I am just used to the Riverbanks Zoo in SC, but I was really disappointed with this zoo. We walked the zoo in less than 2 hours. There was hardly anyone there. Either the animals were just put away due to the heat or they are working on a lot of exhibits right now. The South America section had the fewest exhibits. The zoo did not seem well kept. There was even trash in some of the exhibits. Some of them seemed too small for the animals. If you are coming to Montgomery to visit, don't waste your time and money here. It was not worth the $15/person.

By David R |

The Montgomery Zoo is a "sleeper" --- one of those zoo's you don't think will amount to much, and then you discover that it's a very highly rated, professionally staffed, wonderful zoo!

By melissa c |

Literally best Zoo we’ve ever been to. Better than DC, Hawaii, Tokyo. Never been able to get so close to the animals before! And they all appear to be really healthy. Grounds are very clean. So much fun to feed the parakeets in the little aviary, the train is adorable, wonderful way to spend the day. Very walkable, very manageable. Super fun automated ice cream machine and the Mann center.

By Sandi M |

I thought this Zoo have very interesting animals. There were a few that I had never seen before such as a pygmy hippo. The staff was friendly and ready to answer questions. The museum located on the premises was informative and self-guided. You can pay extra to feed the birds, feed the giraffes, and ride the lift or train. We fed the birds which was in chanting. I feel that areas of the zoo could definitely use some upgrading, such as the enclosures for the animals And the overall structure is throughout the park. It was a nice walk. Lovely paths to stroll on to get to each exhibit. The maps are helpful, However the signage in the part could be more clear. I would definitely recommend this place to visit with children and family. It’s a nice way to meet some interesting animals and have a nice day in a park like atmosphere

By imafoodlover67 |

Brought my family here today and we really enjoyed ourselves. It’s clean. The animals look well taken care of. They have the typical little train that rides through but even cooler is that that have a chairlift that takes you over the zoo so you can see the animals from above them. My teenage son and his girlfriend loved that. The gift shop was nice and it was clean. The staff in the gift shop (and at the entrance) were all very nice. They have paintings some of the animals painted and they come with a photo of the animal that painted it while it’s painting that particular piece which I that was nice. Those are very reasonably priced. It’s a little pricey but worth it.

By Ghoney2003 |

I spent some time visiting the zoo with my family. The zoo had several animals but had a very small selection. The tickets are also overpriced.

By 996candy |

A good diversion. We went at odd time, but it was warm enough that the animals were all out basking. The ski chairlift thing is worth it to get an overview of the zoo. Our favorite was the red hog. What a sweet creature! Like a dog!

By creggwood |

This zoo has a large array of animals to see, all of which look well looked after. The zoo itself is sorted into continents which is interesting and there is a train and a chairlift which you can pay extra to go on. The staff are friendly and you can also pay an extra $3 to feed the giraffes.

By alexis m |

I've been more than a few times and it never gets old, usually an all day event. We love the train ride and the bird house but my favorite is the sky lift. And after all that, there is still the awesome playground to wear out the kids before the drive home.

By T605TZshannons |

Took 3 (13 yr olds) to the zoo on 4th of July. Great Zoo for a smaller area. Pricey though. We spent over $100 for entrance, train ride (wouldn't do again, and chair lift (great views!). That was with military discount.

By RamonaF123 |

The train stopped midway through the light tour and the character lights in the daylight were in very bad condition. Still enjoyed it but they really need some updating and at the prices they charge they should be able to afford it.

By RLL913 |

This is a wonderful and inexpensive experience for the entire family, especially for a city the size of Montgomery. You can see most every type of animal from Africa, Asia, and the U.S. You can walk from venue to venue or ride the train all the way around the zoo, or even take a sky lift over the animals' habitats - innovative and fun. There's a playground, reptile house, and places all around to feed the animals. This is great and wholesome fun for the entire family.
