We love the most beautiful beach around, right on Moonstone Drive. Great accommodations and plenty of activities.

Great place to sit and watch the sun go down after walking the boardwalks. A number of hotels on Moonstone Drive as well as a couple of restaurants

The road is parallel to Hwy 1. There are 2 restaurants on the street and MANY hotels. There is a boardwalk the entire road. Good for dogs. Surfers use the beach. Ample parking along the road and boardwalk. The views and ambiance are very nice. At the end of the road is a park which is good for picnics or just relaxing. Recommend this drive.

We had a little trouble finding the trailhead because it looked like we were driving through a residential neighborhood. But at the end of the neighborhood is the beginning of a trail both my husband and myself enjoyed. My husband only has 10% field of vision and so most trails are too rocky for him to manage but this trail is well maintained. Is adequate for wheelchairs and small children. The ocean views are exhilarating. We saw squirrels, deer, lizards, and many types of birds. One of the favorite things we found to do and it didn't cost us any money. For those who better vision and are able to climb over rocks, there are tide pools accessible at the southern end.

Lovely to walk along the boardwalk or the beach. Quiet and a superb view of the sunset. Parking is available along the road adjacent to the walks, but no dogs are allowed on the beach. Enjoy.

This is a great place to walk before your meal or after. Bring a jacket and walking shoes. We went on a walk after finishing our dinner.

We stayed at the Castle Inn on MsDr and as a fluke decided to follow it both N and S to its end! The northern part brings you right along the ocean and it’s interesting to see the differences the wave action, winds, and storms have created along a relatively short stretch. We also walked this part to make sure we could spend more time at spots that caught our interest from the car. South, you get so see what has to be one of the last small coastal communities. Driving very slow, we were treated to a doe, a yearling, and two fawns moving between homes enjoying new grass. Well worth a little of your time!

The most amazing sunset walk with beautiful views, lots of marine and wild life to be seen. Wander down to the sand and see and collect beautiful colored stones. Moonstone are hard to find but they are there!!

The ocean breeze, the sound of waves, friendly passersby, a lovely setting for an easy hour-long or more walk, no steps, handrails all along the way, great photo ops, many restaurants to choose from for a night of fine dining. Plenty of parking, a bicycle trail, art studios, but still secluded. A beautiful dream!

We stayed across the street at the Pelican Inn and loved being able to walk across the street to walk along the boardwalk to visit the beach and watch the sunset, birds and wildlife. Very romantic, peaceful and calming.

Moonstone Beach is a one of kind place. It's very quiet, serene, peaceful and of course, beautiful! Great for a stroll or even doing some tide pool discoveries. Gorgeous sunsets round off this spectacular location.

This is such a beautiful place. It’s a lovely drive with places to park and take pictures. There’s a wood plank boardwalk that makes it easy to walk along the cliffs if you don’t want to walk on the beach. There are often artists there painting or making things out of driftwood.

This was a most enjoyable stroll. Then boardwalk is well maintained, and the views are amazing. You need to make sure to watch the weather, as cool to cold breezes can be chilly to down right freezing. BUT.. when the sun is warm this walk is beautiful, plus you can take advantage of the restaurants should you get hungry. Simply wonderful!

Beautiful walk along the pier (if you don't have the proper shoes) or, even further down going down to the beach itself. Beautiful walk under cloudy or under sunny skies.

This is a much better place to walk than drive! A long boardwalk with additional lookout points provides fantastic views of the coastline. Plenty of nature to observe, both in terms of changes in geology and varied wildlife. It's an especially wonderful place to watch the sun set on the Pacific.

We found this to be a relaxing way to unwind after a long day. Friendly passersby, beautiful beaches, and a peaceful atmosphere make this a great place to visit.

We were traveling with our husky and decided to stay at the Sea Otter Inn, which is right across from the moonstone boardwalk. Lovely, lovely area. We spent our mornings on the boardwalk sitting with our coffee and again in the evening with our wine watching the sunset. If you like to walk and enjoy the view and the cotton tail bunnies that are in abundance in the bush, then this is the place to park or stay. Our husky was quite amused by the bunnies and squirrels! Very soothing place to hangout and hear the ocean. There is access to the beach, however we had our dog in tow and dogs are only allowed on the walkways. Hight recommend if you enjoy serenity!

This a very well maintained stretch of boardwalk where you might encounter a friendly squirrel or two looking for treats by day, and beautiful sunsets by night. From end to end, it's about 2 miles round trip. We always stay at The Fog Catcher on the opposite side of the road, but there are many other hotels along the entire length of the walk as well as wonderful restaurants. There is ample parking along the boardwalk side as well. Benches are also periodically place along the walk to relax and watch the tide and other marine life. Highly recommend the walk. Enjoy!!!

Always something interesting to see along here on nice boardwalk: sea birds, sea lions, blue heron, crashing waves. I like the north end best due to rock formations. Plenty of dog walkers.

A very romantic, sunset-inspiring, breathtaking walk along a slightly windy path with many entrances exits both to the main street, and down to little beaches and nooks for tide pools. A must-do if you're in the area!

Two miles of wooded walkway to enjoy the seaside along side Moonstone Beach. There are many entrances to access the beach and overlooks to enjoy the scenery. The walkway is good for young and old to enjoy the amazing ocean views.

It was a great experience , We enjoyed especially the seals and the overall panorama
We recommend this outing to everybody visiting this area
Also, the sunset was magnificent

We walked here each day, several times a day and night. About one mile long but just keep going towards town for longer walk. Can also walk Moonstone beach.

The board walk on Moonstone Drive provides a wonderful view of the coast. Seals are easy to spot and hundreds of ground squirrels live along the trail. We've also spotted bunnies. A lovely stroll.

Lovely secluded beach, many quaint lodgings and elephant seals made our fast stay at Moonstone Drive very enjoyable. Plenty of photo opportunities

My wife and I have walked along the entire length of the wooden walkways above Moonstone Beach, that it feels like home, every time we go back. Its an easy walk because the wood has some give in it, so its not hard like cement.
We just feel wonderful overtime we walk the walkway, whether its cold and drizzly or warm and sunny or just at the remarkable sunsets each night. A pure 5 star place.

Fun spot with lots of driftwood on the beach to build things with. A wide strip of easily accessible beach to explore.

My wife's family have had a house near this area for many decades. While you won't find a sandy beach that you can sunbathe on, the view is stunning and you won't be disappointed with the constantly changing weather patterns in the area. There is also a public park and swimming pool you can use in the summer months.

Cute restaurants and hotels, can be foggy and cold anytime of the year. Didn’t see anyone in the water in Sept. waves were high and water was cold.

A frontage road off Highway 1 running through Cambria, Moonstone Drive leads you to all the wonderful and welcoming motels and beaches. I can imagine this area is very busy during special events and "season " for visiting the ocean shore. Visitors and locals are walking and running along the road and wooden walkways. All very peaceful and beautiful. Plenty of pullouts for visitors.

Moonstone drive / boardwalk is scenic, just a gem. You will see nature at it's best. Fresh weather. No traffic at least in weekdays. So relaxing

It's a dreary beach and the Broadway doesn't improve that as in not sure what would, far nice beaches and walks to be had on this coastline, whole town was overpriced. The Broadway is free but it's just an inspiring bit of coastline, unsure why everyone raves soo much about Cambria

We had visited this location a while ago and it had made a marked impression, especially when watching the sun setting over the Pacific ocean. This time, we didn't have the time to linger, so we drove, really slowly, along the ocean-side road, enjoying the fantastic view of the birds, the brush, the rocks and the water. It was wonderful. It is worth taking time to visit here.

The drive is a couple of miles long of highway 1. Excellent views, a walkway along the coast and beach access. Lots of motels and places to eat. Cheers!

What a great walk. So many different beautiful wild flowers while walking right next to the fantastic Pacific Ocean. The wild life viewed during our walk included Cotton Tail Rabbits, Beechey Ground Squirrels, Western Fence Lizards (Blue Belly), Harbor Seels, Alligator Lizards and many different birds (sea and land birds).

Nice place for a morning or sunset walk. It is easy to access even if you are not staying at one of the inns/motels across the street. An excellent spot to watch the sunset.

Went with family to walk a few times in several days. Always a fun time. Go anytime for beautiful memories.

Nice place to stroll and enjoy the ocean views. Neat to see the wildlife and enjoy the area. Well worth the stop!

We had a foggy day on our visit to Cambria, but this made the Moonstone beach a unique place to experience. It was like a place suspended in a surreal atmosphere. We really enjoyed it!

Running parallel to highway 1, right by the beach, this drive offers a slightly winding road and lovely vistas of the Pacific ocean. It is almost at sea level, so you can sea and hear the waves crashing on the beach. Sunsets are great, and there are places to stop and enjoy the breeze, the waves and the not unusual wildlife (sea lions, seagulls, etc.).

If you like an easy walk in salt air ,This is it! Dog walkers and fellow travelers love this boardwalk. You won't find this anywhere else. There are several places to climb down to the beach.

This is a beautiful stretch of beach which is relatively uncrowded depending on season and weather. It is a cooler Northern CA type climate. Some parking and stairs leading down to the water.

This is an incredibly beautiful area. There is a very nice boardwalk to stroll or just sit and watch the sea. Parking is on the street.

Very pleasant walkway along the coast, seating at various places to watch the waves along the way.es and sea gulls, enjoy exercise meet many visitors and locals

The boardwalk is nice and I like that there are plenty of benches to enjoy the view. I just wish that the beach was ADA accessible and that I could bring my dog.

This is a wonderful drive and you can take the walking path and see it better. Plenty of places to have lunch to.

It was storming outside (a rare thing) so we headed to the beach to take in the wonders of Nature. The Moonstone Drive Path runs along a bluff above the ocean, so provides a great view with the safety of being out of the waves. Loved the rain, and the big waves.

Boardwalk next to water. Usually windy so bring light jacket. Nice views. No dogs on beach, but several pet friendly motels. Sit outside, dip your favorite beverage and enjoy sunset or sunrise. Aloha

The boardwalk is easy to negotiate and you get a great view of the beach and surrounding area. It can get very windy, so bring a hat with an under the chin tie!

Very pretty drive. The Cali coast in this are is really beautiful. There is a very long boardwalk that suns most of Cambria. Really nice place to take in the views

My wife and I enjoyed waling along the cliff and seeing all the sea life and plants. It is very beautiful and worth seeing.

Beautiful shore line stop and visit tide pools or enjoy the sunset and have a glass of wine eat one of the restaurants

Lovely place to walk along the beach and ocean. Great view and pleasant walk at your own pace. Walk way is wood but it makes the moonstone drive a easy walk.

The boardwalk on Moonstone Beach is so welcome especially to those of us who aren’t as sure footed on beach sand and traversing dunes. Located right across the street from a variety of hotel accommodations and several restaurants, this is why we come to Moonstone. The boardwalk is a great walk way with benches for just sitting and taking in the view. We have our geo-mate and have found several caches right off the boardwalk which adds to our experience. But it is mostly about the sights and sounds.

Kind of drive that you want to take your time to enjoy the scenery. The parking was ok for us even though there were only few spots to park

Beautiful setting for walking, viewing animals (we were surprised to see dolphins playing around about 100 yards off shore), exploring tidepools... stay awhile.

Really, it's not much of a drive with houses and motels on one side and the beach/ocean on the other side.
But the road gets you to where you need to be. Park your car and walk the magnificent boardwalk or during a low tide takes stairs down to the beach, hunt for moonstones and explore the tidepools.

You’ll want to do both here at Moonstone in Cambria. I’ve never really ever heard of Cambria until we drove near it and I now wonder if it’s a secret people hope to keep because it’s unspoiled. If there were hordes of visitors it would certainly lose its appeal. There are gorgeous trees that line the streets, quaint cottages, and a sturdy boardwalk that will allow you to see the beach. There are steps that lead down to the beach and right onto the rock formations where sea lions are resting. Along the boardwalk, we saw squirrels and rabbits. The walk is windy but so flat and pleasant. I am now considering retiring in Cambria as it is such a magical place.

Beautiful walk along the California coast with occasional paths to the shore and beach. Pass by numerous restaurants and quaint hotels. Dogs on leashes allowed. A BEAUTIFUL, very easy walk (probably wheelchair accessible).

As coastal drives in the US go, this is right up there amongst the scenic and memorable ones. There are some hotels along the way .. And it leads to Hearst castle.

Boardwalk on beach side the length of Moonstone Dr. Great view, easy walk and stairs to the beach. Bring your binoculars!

A special slice of the coastline in beautiful Cambria. Great walking path for dogs and people with a full view of the coastline.

Strolling along the beach is always refreshing. Throw in bluffs, offshore rocks, sea life and a well maintained boardwalk, and you have a terrific venue. Now, add several restaurants across the street, and it often feels like heaven. Take a nice mile plus stroll, then refresh yourself at an outdoor cafe - the best.

Beautiful views and long long walks on a lovely boardwalk make this location refreshing for the heart and soul. Seal watching, whale watching, and views to remember

Great place to stay. Has a boardwalk where you can walk along the ocean for at least a mile. View is wonderful. If you can rent on Moonstone Beach Dr., it is well worth the cost.

A must stop on highway 1!! Stopped on the way to LA and didn't expect that much. You can take a peaceful walk next to the amazing coastline, see animals (saw seals really close), eat in one of the great restaurants there and stay and relax at one of the hotels just on the moonstone drive road.

Peaceful, serene and refreshing walk along the boardwalk is a must. The ocean is magnificent and depending on time of year the otters, dolphins and seals abound.

Afternnon walk with a nice sun set view and a dog friendly as well this is a regular routine when we are in cambria

I came here with my husband and dog. What a beautiful walk. It’s just breathtaking. I didn’t go down below to the beach but it looked clean and inviting.

Great place to go walk along the boardwalk on a nice sunny day. Perfect views of the ocean and very peaceful

Beautiful views, easy walk. Lots of friendly wildlife on the path... Weather was gorgeous, even when it was foggy and overcast.

We walked during low tide and were able to go to the tide pools. We got to see elephant seals on the rocks. We saw a beautiful sunset too!

Love this scenic area and a must see if you are heading up or down the coast! Take the time to drive this part of the coast line

Really enjoyed the scenery on this drive. Lots of places to park and take pictures. We walked the boardwalk and on the beach. The coast is really spectacular here. Lots of places to eat along the shore and places to stay. One of the places was flying a Trip Advisor Flag!
Lovely drift wood and pebbles. The shells were pretty beat up by the rocks. Sea birds and harbor seals to watch and even a sea otter or two.
Loved this drive and hatching plans to return.

Great place to stay and watch the sunset. Close to shopping in Cambria and Hearst Castle. Little Sur Inn has rooms with balconies, fantastic!

One of the most beautiful scenic places on the west coast!
We loved taking this walk and would do this again and again.
We watched the sunset. We stayed at the Sea Otter Inn across the street. Will come back again and again.....

A boardwalk that is flat and easily accessible for all. Best times are at sunrise and sunset, but there is no bad time! Watch and listen to the breakers, walk down stairs to the beach---it's all there.

This is a wonderful boardwalk with beach access stairs along the way. Keep your eye out for all the Cottontails that run along the boardwalk. Very different to see Cottontails so close to the ocean. A very peaceful spot along the coast of California.

A lovely boardwalk path to stroll along and enjoy nature. We stayed at the Castle Inn for an overnight on our way from SF to LA. Because we were just traveling through we didn't spend a whole lot of time in Cambria. However, I did manage to enjoy the Moonstone Drive boardwalk path for about 45 minutes early in the morning when I walked a bit of it while drinking my coffee. I would have like to walk the entire thing but time did not allow.

This is about a 2 mile boardwalk that follows the ocean. There are benches along the way to relax and enjoy the sea. You will also see lots of native plant life, some of which have signage explaining what the plants are. The walk is also doggie friendly, so bring Fido !

Great walk with my lady she says she loved the walkways. Lot of drift wood down there it's nice to build stuff out of it on the beach .

Other than the village itself, the prime reason to visit Cambria. Wonderful wooden beach walk the length of Moonstone drive

Beautiful coastal drive. Great for bikes, cars and even walking. All Hotels are are east of the road, so there are no blocked views. A wonderful wooden walkway is about 10 feet off the roadway along the cliffs edge. Take your time and enjoy the sound of the waves, spot a whale spout, keeps your eyes open for quail, squirrels and other wildlife.

We were not sure of the distance but we know both walkers and runners can use the pathway. Incredible views of the ocean.

We clocked 14000 steps along the beach and board walk. We collected many beautiful pebbles and a real moon stone. The fresh air and surf were bracing. We worked up appetites and went to Cambrita's for dinner. Watching the sunset from the board walk was a perfect ending. Hot tub eased the muscles.

Moonstone Drive goes all along Moonstone Beach. There is a boardwalk that goes down the entire stretch. Walking on the boardwalk is both a beautiful and a calming experience. We tried to walk it twice a day. The sunset walk in the evening is breathtaking. You walk through the natural habit as you go along. We ran into squirrels on almost every walk. And seeing the seabirds on the rocks is fun. There are lookout points along the way. Great places to get that perfect picture!

This is one area everyone needs to visit if in the area. The boardwalk is great. Easy walking along the coastline and clean. You can get off and go down to the shore at numerous locations along the boardwalk. Great areas to see the waves washing in and experience the coast view. Parking is easy on weekdays on either side of the highway.

We stay on Moonstsone when in Cambria. We love starting our day with a walk along the mile long Moonstone Drive. We also like to watch the sun set over the ocean. Such a great location.

Is very good to have a quiet and nice walk. with all the nature around it. Arrive early if you want to see the sea calm.

I visited with a couple of friends and really enjoyed the walk and time down at the beach. The wooden path is beautiful and you will come across lizards, some with interesting bright colors on their back. The moonstones on the beach/sand are what make this visit so incredible. Step and dig your bare feet onto the moonstones and get a free foot massage, warmer than you would expect. There is a bathroom up near the parking lot.

Beautiful beach. Great boardwalk for walking anytime of day. Great for people of all ages. Fresh air. Beautiful views. Clean area. Stairs down to beach lead to lovely beach. Can see sea lions sleeping on rocks and sea otters swimming in the water. Great tide pools. We go year after year.

A beautiful and relaxing drive along the coast. Fresh ocean breeze rejuvenates the tired body especially from a busy sightseeing trips.

What a scenic drive !Tons of surfers
Beautyful beach tons of scenic hotels with ocean views for any budget!Great boardwalk with biking and benches to sit on.

This is such a beautiful drive! The kind of drive you don’t want to rush through, take the the time to stop take in the view, take lots of pictures although pictures don’t do it justice.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary in Cambria and Cayucos and highly recommend this destination for any special occasion or just to get away and enjoy nature. Our choice of hotel, Pelican Inn and Suites, was just perfect for us. Instead of driving along Moonstone Beach, find a parking spot and walk it. You’ll be happy you did! It was windy and cool but well worth being close to watch the surfers.

Great views from the boardwalk. Across the street from our hotel. There are outlooks with seals and birds. The sunset from here is gorgeous

Perfect boardwalk to roam the lovely beach from afar. Great vistas, well kept and nice path. Definitely worth the jaunt!

Great walking area on beach or boardwalk along Moonstone Beach Rd. Great spot for pictures. We saw a few people surfing.

Breathtaking view!! Couldn't get enough, wished we'd been able to stay longer. Enjoyed the wildlife.

You can see the whole Moonstone Beach area from the comfort of your car or take a walk along the boardwalk. All good.

Moonstone Beach has a walk way above it for srolling and jogging along with a beautiful ocean view. There's also a wood walk way down to the beach.

Moonstone Drive is a beautiful drive but to do it justice you have to at least park, get out and walk the boardwalk and or the beach below. The views are fantastic as is the sounds and smells of the ocean.
If just driving it you can do it in about 20 minutes but to walk and actually enjoy, expect at least an hour or two. Great for all ages.

The boardwalk is a great leisurely walk from one end of Moonstone Beach to the other. Great view of the beach and various birds.

I come here every year and stay in one of the inns. This is my spot to relax and be away from work. Walking along the baordwak in the morning or the afternoon before relaxing in my room is one of the best things to do in this area. So relaxing and has a great view. There is access to the water where you can walk along the shoreline. I see some surfers. Not too many peole swimming as the water is always cold. You will see some people in the water more in the summer as the water temperature is more tolerable. Overall, a great place to check out or see. Even if you don’t stay here (as it gets pricey), just drive by and see the view.

Park your car and walk the boardwalk for great views. You might see otters. Also a lot of ground squirrels. Easy walking.

This is a great little road along the beach/coast. There is a very long boardwalk that is great to walk on in wet weather or when there is a high tide.

This was a very enjoyable drive that showed off the beautiful coastline and beaches. The road was very easy to navigate and it was in great condition.

Absolutely love this little gem of a town on the ocean! The drive is especially soothing and relaxing if your windows are down and head up off your phone to take in the smells, sights and sounds of the crashing waves against the shoreline!

Its a nice walk along the boardwalk and there is a park on the north and south end. There are areas where you can access the beach but no dogs allowed on beach.

This is such a lovely boardwalk along the coast of Cambria at Moonstone Beach.
You enjoy the dramatic coastline with breathtaking views on this 2.85 mile round-trip boardwalk (not a strenuous walk). There are many entrances and exits along the way, so you can make your walk as long or as short as you wish. Parking alongside the boardwalk is available in many spots. There are lovely "Kodak Moments" for photography with your cell phone or camera.

Great boardwalk for jogging or walking. Outstanding views. Look for the ground squirrels -- they will pop out to beg for food. Very cute.

One of the most beautiful walks you can take on the Central Coast of California. All boardwalk and kept up which makes for a very easy stroll next to the Ocean! Or grab a seat and watch a beautiful sunset. If you come to visit remember to be easy on the water. Every Drop Counts!

This drive has stops where you can park your car, and get out and have access to the boardwalk that they put in a few years back. The boardwalk allows you to get a closer view or access to the ocean. You often see sea otters or dolphins in the ocean and the beaches sometimes have seals on them. Many times if Pismo or Morro Bay have fog or low clouds, this place will be clear.

Running the length of Moonstone Drive, start at the South End and go all North. When you get to San Simeon Pines keep walking and there is a fabulous Coastal edge walk down to the beach!!! Means walking across the parking lot but there are Seals and Surfers making it worth the extra steps.

This place is one of my favorite places to go when I want to go for a quick getaway and feel like so far away from everything and forget that you’re just a little more than a couple of drives away from Los Angeles county. The view of the ocean is so beautiful and sound of the waves makes me feel so peaceful! When walking on the boardwalk , it feels like I’m walking on a garden of Eden ( I actually don’t know what the garden of Eden is but sounds magical:) I’m actually at a loss for words to describe the beauty and the profound feelings I have whenever I’m actually walking the boardwalk. I actually enjoyed the walk with my partner this time. The beautiful plants, trees and vines that are along the boardwalk gives you another kind of beautiful sensation that you feel! The flowers also bloomed that gave so much color to the amazing walks we made on the boardwalk. Truly amazing!

We had so much fun collecting rocks for one of our potted trees as we walked along the shore. I hope there is no law against doing this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sunset was beautiful. Everything is so different when you are by the shore.

This is a nice place to watch the sun set. I love coming up to Cambria with my wife and taking long walks on Moonstone drive. The scenery is breathtaking.

What a nice way to walk (or jog if you prefer) along the beach and see the ocean waves crash onto the beach! Lots of cute ground squirrels begging for little tidbits of food as you walk along breathing the wonderful ocean air.

Whether it was morning or evening the stroll along the drive was beautiful. Birds and wildlife come up to greet you as you stroll along.

Nice views, great sunset, saw sea lions, pet friendly too, relatively easy free parking.I really enjoyed it.

Love the boardwalk that runs along Moonstone Drive...it makes for an easy stroll and breathtaking views of nature...good place to see whales breach too. Lots of restaurants and accommodations across the street which is easy to cross.

It is not a long beach drive. It is worth every minute. Get out of the car and take a walk. It is beautiful.
It is located in Cambria, right off the One. You will see the turn off. There are also some great eateries nearby.
The drive is so calming, not crowded and just a wonderful place to reflect and relax.
Fly a kite on the beach, walk the beautiful field, touch the beach. Have a great time.

You can’t visit Cambria without at least driving Moonstone Drive! But to really enjoy the experience, stop, Park in one of the parking lots, and get out and walk! You can get down to the beach (if you’re lucky, you might find a Moonstone!) or use the boardwalk. Sunsets are beautiful! You won’t be sorry you stopped to explore.

Very relaxing and invigorating way of enjoying natural beauty of the California coast line and wide expanses.

Locals call this Com-bria well that was a joke back when I was a young surfer punk all the old locals with their wine glasses and piles of money and home here looked down their long noses at us kids and asked what we where doing in their Com-bria.....Now these walks are full of tourist all the time don't think there is a off season anymore.Bring your best insulated windbreaker jacket and take your pick from the end to end hotels along this wooden walk way.Buy a home in the area if you have a spare 2 million and 20 thou a year in taxes burning a hole in your pocket....

Worth the walk, drive or stay at one of the wonderful B&B’s along Moonstone Beach. Simply a place to take a deep breath.

This is an enjoyable promenade on Moonstone Beach. It makes walking easier and helps to reduce damage to the bluff environment. Highly recommended.

This wooden walkway extends for a couple miles. There are some broken planks that give you a sinking feeling if you happen to walk on one. There must be over a hundred did different plant species. They made us wish we knew something about these living and diversified plants. Many were just "giant-sized weeds" we see further inland. Everything was in bloom. Bees were everywhere enjoying the sweet necters. It seemed like every few feet we saw something different and more amazing. There were lizards enjoying the sun. What looked similar to chipmunks were "people friendly." They would pose, sometimes, less than a foot away. The many views of the ocean, rocks, surf, beach and driftwood were stunning. It was easy to see the different water depths by their color. All of this was set against a marine layer that ranged from 1000 feet off shore to a couple miles. On one morning we sat and strolled as we watched the Marine layer break-up and move off coast. We saw flocks of, at times, more than fifty seagulls and pelicans fly by throughout the day. There were benches located throughout our walk. Keep in mind that like a road, the walkway has twists and turns, hills and dips, and valleys. So, if you have knee or hip problems you might find it strenuous at times. I have both, but tuffed it out with some pain, sometimes slowly, and sometimes with the help of my wife. The views, plants and the whole experiences were worth the pain (for me anyway.) This is a must "see on" a clear day. Plan on spending a few hours strolling and stopping, soaking it all in. Enjoy part of "California's Gold."

We could hop on the boardwalk right in front of our hotel. We enjoyed a leisurely afternoon stroll, enjoying the majestic views and taking in the surfers. One morning we saw a school of dolphins!

This was a lovely drive and very easy to do. It loops around back to Hwy 1 so you don't have to back track. Beautiful views and plenty of parking if you want to stretch your legs.

This is a wonderful place to visit. Stroll along the boardwalk for whale watching, otters, or just to watch the waves crashing on shore. Many oceanfront hotels are available across the small street making this the best area to stay in Cambria.

Love this stretch of road. You can stroll on the broadwalk and look for whales and stuff. There are benches too and Parkin gets on he road.

Short road with many boutique hotels and a couple restaurants.
Get out and walk along the boardwalk where you can see the beach, harbor seals and lots of wildflowers, just watch out for lots of poison oak!

Great beach with awesome views. Lots of wild flowers along the boardwalk. Don't miss the sunset. Absolutely gorgeous

Short drive from downtown is beautiful Moonstone Drive, Very nice views, Plenty of places to stay, More expensive than downtown Cambria, but if your looking for a Nice walk on the beach and the smell of the ocean its the place to be.
They have a Great Raised wooden walking path that runs pretty much the whole street with plenty of outs to stand and gaze. Only a couple of restaurants on Moonstone Drive, I would recommend The Moonstone Drill, There is usually a wait, but its the best bang for your buck on Moonstone Drive,

A very nice beach to hang out on. Not crowded and maybe a little a windy at times, but pleasant to walk on and look for rocks and shells early in the morning. Great sunsets!
The boardwalk is great for walking your dog or pushing a stroller. Great nature hike!

Hotels and restaurant, easy access to the beach or stroll along the boardwalk. You won't be disappointed.

Moonstone Beach Drive runs along the bluff above the Pacific Ocean. If you are lucky, on this photogenic drive, you can can catch a glimpse of sea lions, sea otters and maybe a gray whale during winter and spring.

This was a fantastic opportunity to see the Elephant seals on their beach reserve. You cannot be on the beach but there is a wooden walk way at the top so you can watch the animals. I could have stood for hours watching the juveniles...it is their beach until December when adults arrive. The young males start to develop the massive Proboscis at six and rear up to mock battle for dominance. We also saw dolphins, pelicans and sea otters. A volunteer from the elephant seal protective society was very helpful in explaining what we were seeing below. Great for all ages

My wife and I have been to Cambria many times and always make an effort effort to spend time walking the “Boardwalk”. It meanders the length of Moonstone Drive.

Breath taking views. I love photographing this area. An artist heaven. Best time of the year is summer.

Moonstone has many nice hotels and a few restaurants. It’s a great place to just take a walk and see the beach.

I love to stay at Cambria Shore Inn. They are the best people, they are very helpful. The place is clean and breath taking.

First visit to this place. So nice to walk the boardwalk and look for Moonstones on the beach. Was very peaceful and not alot of people here. Easy to access for older folks, nice restaurants near by. Definitely a local gem!

The beach below is steep scramble down (yes, there are steps, but steep and eroded), but the boardwalk is pleasant and goes on for a good mile or two – the views are lovely and the folks out walking are pleasant. Hidden & visible benches are plentiful

The boardwalk makes this a great place for a leisurely stroll, and it makes a very accessible, smooth walking surface. Stairs lead down to the beach. There is a parking lot and restroom at the beginning on the walk, near the beach, but you can also park along the street, The view is really lovely. It can get a bit windy, so consider brining a jacket.

This mile-or-so boardwalk along the Pacific Coast offers a good view of sand and waves, along with occasional dolphin, whale or otter. It's an easy and peaceful walk, with a couple of staircase access to the beach below (where there really are moonstones occasionally among the pebbles.) Also, a couple of nice restaurants are just across Moonstone Drive from the boardwalk.

When we are in Cambria, we enjoy walking along Moonstone Beach Boardwalk.
We can enjoy the ocean view and the beach from the boardwalk.

Well defined walking/biking/wheelchair path along the ocean. Lots to see on the beach and beautiful wildflowers abound. It was a great idea to put down the path to protect the land from erosion AND the wildlife...as we rested on one of the benches, A 4ft snake slithered across! It was awesome, but I was really glad I didn't encounter it in the grassy hills. Nothing like making memories ;-)

Worth a drive through but not worth spending anytime there - all a bit dingy and stuck in the 70’s. keep driving is my recommendation

We stayed at the Moonstone landing hotel, which is right on the beach. if you get an ocean front 2nd floor room you have an amazing view.

We stayed at the Fireside Inn which is located on Moonstone Drive recently. The view of the ocean and surrounding area is beautiful. If you have time, stop and take a stroll along the boardwalk that runs between Moonstone Dr. and the ocean. There are stairs down to the beaches along the way and if you are lucky, you might see a whale or two, sea otters and seals. If you do go down to the beaches, make sure and look for Moonstones. They are there, all you have to do is find them. If you are not sure what they are, just ask one of the locals, they will tell you what to look for. Enjoy!

Take the time to visit Moonstone Drive at sunrise or sunset if at all possible. The Pacific Ocean is gorgeous no matter what, but the sun coming or going just adds so much to the view. The boardwalk makes it nice and easy to get out and stretch your legs and add to the pleasure of spending time in the beautiful place.

We love staying in Cambria. Small town feel and doesn't feel overcrowded. Can take a peaceful walk on the boardwalk for as long as your feet can take you looking at the ocean the whole time.

Lovely wooden boardwalk on the bluffs above Moonstone Beach. Easy for those in a wheelchair or hampered by mobility problems to use this to access the coastal vista of the beach below. I do not have mobility problems and walked down the wooden staircases in three areas of the long Moonstone Drive to get the various parts of the beach. A very nice addition for all people!

Wonderful place to walk, think, journal and enjoy the beautiful coastline. The sunsets are beautiful and the views breathtaking. If you are lucky - you will see some otters!

Moonstone Beach Drive in Cambria has a wonderful wooden boardwalk that parallels the ocean and beach. It is well built for walkers and a joy for individuals, families and small groups. It is a well kept secret and rarely crowded. We love walking on the boardwalk...day or night, sun or fog...it's always a delight.

One of the highlights of our Californian road trip. We saw whales in the sea and the most glorious sunset.

I walked up and down this path many times recently and found some answers to my problems in life....

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful spot. I've been to many beaches, but this is my first that has a well kept boardwalk that meanders through lovely wildflowers. Only people and dogs are allowed on this path, so you don't have to worry about being plowed over by bikes of rollerbladers. There are also many turn-outs on the path that overlook points of interest, as well as paths down to the shore. You may want hiking sticks to help you navigate down at the shore, because it is a challenge at points, to even reach the water. It's well worth the effort, because the rock formations and driftwood are a must see.

Stayed in the Castle Inn across the street from this board walk. It went completely the length of the beach making it so easy to enjoy the beauty of this beach and yet be safe from the streets traffic. It was a lovely way to walk, jog, or stroll with a view.

Start at one end and mindfully walk to the other then return. Your senses will LOVE this!!! Many motels and the Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill are on the side opposite the boardwalk & ocean.

This place is famous in Cambria, but Cambria is still one of those "hidden gem" locations so you must first get here to find it!! It is right along the shore line and the ocean couldn't be more beautiful in this location. Typical of many northern California beaches, it is clean, wild, and a little huge and overwhelming! Not a place to bring your toddlers to play in the gentle surf. The wind, waves, and breathtakingly beautiful shoreline all lend themselves to a naturally romantic spot, but young families will also have a blast walking along the surprisingly lengthy wooden boardwalk. Along the way there is lots to see, nature at its finest with tons of wildlife in abundance. You just have to look for it.
Cambria is a sleepy little town and as with other places like this, I highly recommend a mid-week visit to get the "REAL" feel of the town. On the weekends you are going to deal with a ton of tourists just passing through and tourists can be obnoxious (not you, of course!) so please consider the mid-week visit and I promise you will not regret it. Some places may be closed on Mondays so shoot for Tuesday through Friday. If you stay till Friday you will witness first-hand the hordes of loud people coming in for a visit. I hate to sound that way about tourists because I know they bring necessary money to this cute little town, but they can be awful at times!
Either way, GO. Enjoy the ambiance of the town and especially of Moonstone Drive. If you check out some places you will see TONS of places available to rent on Moonstone Beach itself. From hotels, to B & B's to vacation rental by owner type places. There are lots to choose from and as with anything else, the earlier you book, the more selection you will find. So book early!!
One this we like to do is grab a cub of coffee to go from one of the local coffee houses and go to Moonstone Drive to hang out on the beach after walking the boardwalk. Relaxing, nature-filled activity that won't cost you much but delivers HUGELY on relaxation and fun.
Don't forget to bring a hoodie or sweater. It can be windy and/or chilly at times!
Enjoy.

Whether staying in the area of Moonstone Beach or not, the boardwalk is a must see. The views of the coastline from various angles is spectacular, and there are several places with stairs to the beach, if so inclined.
End to end it's about a mile and a half, and worth every step!

I’ve never been to a beach where I’ve experienced complete serenity. I just found it. Looking forward to returning.

Taking a walk on the wooden boardwalk is an excellent way to relax and enjoy the view. We love seeing the crashing waves. Staying at Cambria Landing on Moonstone Beach is our place to stay.

The boardwalk needs a bit of care but the view is gorgeous. You can walk along the sand, if you prefer. Lots of hotels across the road and two restaurants in walking distance.

It was just a beautiful day and a beautiful view. The board walk was busy, but not overly so. So happy to be able to enjoy this wonderful place.

The drive is lovely. The road hugs the shore and there are plenty of places to stop to enjoy the view. A timber boardwalk follows the cliff, with stairs (an easy climb) onto the beach in various locations. I stayed overnight at Moonstone Landing motel and hard dinner at a local restaurant (bar and grill) so walked back to my accommodation via the boardwalk and enjoyed the sunset. I especially enjoyed watching the Sea Otters frolicking in the surf, playing and having fun. The boardwalk is safe for children and relatively suitable for wheelchairs and/or prams.

Great location to stay if in Cambria. What lovely views and a beautiful beach and sunsets. Very quiet. People are friendly.

Spectacular walk along moonstone drive. Amazing views Moonstone Beach doesn't have a lot of sand, just little soft pebbles. A must see! Have your wine and cheese without sand in your mouth! We bring a blanket and sift through all the little moonstone pebbles while listening to the ocean waves!

Great place to visit for a drive or a walk. Plenty of things to do and very relaxing. Worth the visit.

Beautiful peaceful drive. Lovely to pull off the road and watch the sunset. Wonderful boardwak to walk in the mornings or evenings...

This place is so beautiful and perfect! Such a gorgeous setting and views to die for! A must see and do!

Great for a stroll along the shoreline. If your fortunate and have a good eye you may find the precious moonstone along the shore!😎😳

Stayed at the Fogcatcher Inn from October 1st -4th 2018.
Stunnig views, lovely walks. Dolphins swimming just off shore.

We drove a lot of the Pacific coast highway and this was by far the easiest. Without the curves this strip of highway is easy, in town and along a boardwalk.

Well maintained path along the shore. Easy access to the beach. Please note: they do not allow bikes. We saw lots of ground squirrel, birds and other wildlife. Gorgeous walk at sunset

This is our favorite beach to visit when we visit the central coast. There really isn't sand on this beach, just tiny little pebbles aka moonstones. We love our sunrise and sunset walks on the lovely wooden pathways. Such a romantic beach.

Worth exploring on a walk. Nice views of ocean and landscapes. Good area for tide pools. Can be a challenge to find parking during busy months. Nice park area as well.

What a beautiful place with no traffic or large crowds. The two mile long boardwalk was fantastic! Nice places to stay like Pelican Inn & Suites. Great restaurants very close by.

Lovely area to visit and drive through. Lots of lodging available along this route, as well as restaurants. Benches are available for extending viewing of the ocean.

Really a nice promenade. Apparently part of a bigger promenade project that will be 1200 miles long !!!!! Anyway... impressive view over the ocean and lot's to see (Pelicans, dolphins etc.)

When in Cambria always drive down moonstone drive. Walking trails alone road an ocean. Also can find Ocean side an view lodging or just two great beaches an pull outs alone Moonstore drive.

We really enjoyed the boardwalk along Moonstone Drive. Great views of the ocean with several paths down to the beach. Beach covered with lots of driftwood due to the recent rains and storms. Numerous benches along the boardwalk to sit and rest. Also, nice parking spots for vehicles to stop and enjoy the view.

This walkway has beautiful views the entire way. It is easy to walk, has benches to sit and enjoy the views, beach access points. We saw some seals sunbathing. A must do when visiting Cambia.

How many places have a wooden walkway along the ocean? Also with nice lookout areas. Well worth your time if your in the area. We stayed at one of the many motels along the road. If I had to complain it would be ATT cell phone coverage. Very weak.

Breathtakingly beautiful! The view, sounds and smell of the ocean, are soul soothing perfection. Walking along this boardwalk is a great way to unwind and this is one of my new favorite beach walks on the Cali Coast.

Staying along Moonstone Beach Drive is one of my favorite things to do. I like the boardwalk so I do not have to get sand in my shoes to walk along the beach. Always lovely. Warning - if you are staying at any of the properties along the drive - the cell phone coverage is extremely poor.

Moonstone Beach a wonderful place to visit & enjoy view, seashore, tidepools & walk the serene path. Bring your camera. No matter the time of day, you'll capture a spectacular moment.

We stayed at a hotel across the road and was so happy to find out we can walk our dog on the boardwalk. My dog had such good time, she will sits by the door asking us to take her for more walks.
Sometimes it's hard to find places that allow dogs (hotels, parks, etc). So glad this is right outside the hotel door.
We also saw elephant seals by the rocks -after we made a trip to see the elephant seal somewhere else.

This is terrific, a way to walk along the beach and see the ocean and plants without getting your feet sandy. There are plenty of places to step down to the beach for shell or moonstone rock collecting. It is good for walking to either of two restaurants in the vicinty without getting into traffic.

We always make this walk part of our Cambria experience whether we are staying at one of the boutique motels across the street or renting a vacation rental. It is quiet, peaceful, and an easy walk. The boardwalk goes for quite awhile. Moonstone beach is a great place for beachcombing. We have seen sea otters as well as whales jumping in the distance. This month there was a variety of wildflowers which made it even more enjoyable.

The ride along Moonstone Beach is absolutely gorgeous, with views of the ocean and beaches all along. The walk - mostly on a boardwalk - is stunningly beautiful. A must if you are in town or even passing through.

We were only in Cambria for one night unfortunately and the weather was not the best but Moonstone Drive area was still very beautiful and in warmer and finer weather would be amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a beautiful and serene coastal drive. The well-maintained boardwalk is a perfect place for a peaceful walk any time of year; beautiful views of the ocean and beach below all the way.

A nice drive along the ocean, leading to many good restaurants. The early morning walk and bloody mary when ready is the best way to start the day.

A great place to drive along the ocean and see the sunset. The road is narrow, so watch out for pedestrians crossing the street.

Nice drive, lots of scenery, and yes of course nice rocky shore. It is hotel row for Cambria lots of nice places to stay. It would be hard to choose because it is the best view around.

If you are looking for a little walk on the beach while in the Cambria/San Simeon area, this is great place. You can drive your car, park your car at one of several vistas, or enter the beach at one end where the restrooms are located and walk on the beach. Lots of driftwood in one area. The sand is dark brown or almost black in areas. We did not see any seals, etc here, but it was lovely ocean beach scenery. I liked this walk, but didn't think the scenery was as beautiful as Bluff Trail that we walked earlier in day in Cambria.

We stayed at a hotel on the sea front. With a cool breeze coing fro the sea and a cloudless morning, the hike and jog is great here.

A spectacular drive or, if you have the time, a great stroll on the boardwalk. Wonderful surf, beautiful, natural foliage, and the likelihood of seeing a sea lion, whale, or elephant seal combine to make this a must on the southern section of highway 1.

It's simply a great road that extends along the shoreline with plenty of ocean viewing, hotels and restaurants.

the boardwalk is wonderful to walk your pets! everywhere you look is breathtaking for the photographer

This is a long, level boardwalk that takes you along the water. I love that you can get some exercise on a designated walkway, cool and sunny (weather permitting! ), an easy walk in a beautiful place.

We enjoyed the picturesque stroll along Moonstone Drive . Gorgeous , beautiful landscaped and clean .

A sunset walk without sand in your shoes! Take in the Pacific along Cambria's coastline. Parking simple, pet friendly

You great a great view as you walk above the beach on a real boardwalk, very cool! Nice to go there first, then to town, so you can enjoy the beautiful ocean.

I have been to Cambria a few times, and Moonstone Drive is such a great place to walk!! Great to look down and see the seals!

Absolutely love Moonstone Drive. My husband and I stayed at Sand Pebbles Inn, we were able to walk right out of our room onto MoonStone Drive. It was a raining that day-which is my favorite kind of weather. The sand was a bit wet so we found a bench, sat and enjoyed the clean crisp morning air before heading off for breakfast.

We walked along this well boarded walkway, and enjoyed looking for the wildlife and we saw very friendly squirrels and rabbits, with a view of the ocean. A lovely stroll.

Magnificent views from the car or from getting out of the car and walking the boardwalk. Hotels are located on the drive and one can sit out and just enjoy the view.

You have to walk the boardwalk and enjoy the view. The boardwalk is surrounded by beautiful wild flowers and there's a lot of squirrels wandering around. So relaxing just listening to the ocean waves!

Just an absolutely beautiful place to visit and drive and catch a memorable sunset that you will treasure forever 😍

A long board walk just outside of Cambria alongside the Pacific Ocean. Parking lots at both ends and curb side Very pleasant stroll. The inland side of the street is lined with romantic themed motels (but not inexpensive).

beautiful walk along ocean. long stretch, well designed, great for walkers or joggers. view is spectacular

I try to visit Cambria whenever I am near there. So beautiful and wild. Great restaurants and local people.

Moonstone Beach is one of the prettiest beaches on the Central Coast. The drive is dotted with small inns across the road from the ocean. There is a walking boardwalk that follows the coast from one end of Moonstone Beach to the other. Definitely veer off of Highway 1 to drive along this beautiful scenic drive as it loops back up to the highway just past the incredible cypress grove near the end of the Drive. But even better, park your car along the stretch and take a walk along the boardwalk. It's just wide enough for 2 people across. Time it so that you are there at sunset. The sunsets along Moonstone Beach are gorgeous, and there are plenty of spots along the boardwalk to stop and take it all in.

This is the real California Coast in all of its beauty. It doesn't matter where you are able to park the entire drive is lovely.

The drive is pretty short, just a mile of beachfront hotels and ocean vistas. But if you leave the car and walk along the well maintained boardwalk, it is spectacular. The wildflowers are in full bloom, the breakers crash against the huge boulders, and the sunsets are superb.

This small beach is worth a stop along the Central Coast. You are sure to find relaxation and a few moonstones on the beach. Watch out for any sea lions as they are dangerous. Sit down and take in the view.

My biased opinion - this is the most beautiful stretch of beach in California. On this day in February, there were beautiful yellow flowers all along the boardwalk to enhance its beauty. With a decent tide, we also saw 3 surfers. Not a big crowd the week before Valentine's Day, we were able to grab a couple of benches along the way and admire the amazing views.

I was here to jog 4 miles in the morning, it is a beautiful trail. You can see the beaches and the surfers, also you can collect little stones

A wonderful way to spend some time. Stay for a bit or stay longer at one of the many inns along this drive. The beach here is perfect.

You’ll see on one side the beautiful Pacific in all its glory and on the other sweet little “motor courts” that have been lovingly converted to B&Bs

Bikes are not allowed on the boardwalk. Only on the side of the road. I had a lovely ride from end to end on Moonstone Drive. ( our hotel Cambria Beach lodge supplies great bikes) The ocean views are magnificent. There are parks & great views off this lovely street.

This is a beautiful two mile walk along the cambria coast. Thanks to the generous people who donated this property for public access

Moonstone Drive is a road that follows the water and has all kinds of great motels
on the land-side. There are a few restaurants and shoppes among the motels.
On the water side there is a long boardwalk that goes above the beach. This area
has the best ocean views in the town of Cambria. There is also beach access.

We took a delightful late afternoon walk right from our hotel along the meandering wooden boardwalk taking in the beautiful ocean and sunset views while also checking out the various seaside restaurants along the other side of Moonstone Drive.

Been here many times and never get tired of it. The wood walkway is so nice to take really long walks or a bike ride. The hotels along it are beautiful and there’s even a couple of places to eat. Definitely worth staying here for 2-3 days anytime of year.

The drive along this road is so pretty, we never tire of it! It is fun just to drive along this road and take in the beautiful views of Moonstone Beach. :)

Steps from the hotels on Moonstone Beach Drive. Friendly people, dogs, outstanding views. Gets windy!

Great area to walk around with great views and various coves and lookouts to explore. Usually not too crowded.

Cambria's Moonstone Drive is a lovey walk along the ocean, unencumbered by distractions from manmade noise and commotion. The perfect getaway for a relaxing "mind reset" and quiet contemplation of the beauty of nature.

Time out for about a one mile stroll on this special boardwalk. Look carefully to espy bunnies, squirrels, seals, dolphin, whales & variety of sea birds. Steps to the beach for combing for shells, moonstones & treasures. Leave your phones behind & enjoy the best of nature!

One of the prettiest areas along Highway 1. Moonstone Drive has many great lodgings across from the beach with great views. However the walk along the walkway is fantastic. We got up every morning and walked up and down the beach..just fantastic

We stayed across the street from this beautiful boardwalk for a weekend. This is one of the most relaxing walking trails on the central coast. Def will come back!

If you are looking for peace in mind this is the place to be. Nature, silence, serenity! Wonderful..

My husband and I stayed in a hotel on the Drive and overlooking Moonstone beach. this drive is short but long on views. The parking is limited to a couple of access points, but over all well worth the drive and worth the stop.

This drive goes along Moonstone Beach with the ocean on one side and motels, B and Bs, restaurants and lovely homes on the other side..

We stayed here so from our hotel it is literally on the doorstep. We sat here to watch the sunrise and then the sunset, absolutely stunning listening to the crashing waves, wild flowers and a beach below.
Some locals walking their dogs and joggers too. Can be very windy though so wrap up warm.

Enjoyed driving and walking the boardwalk. Did it about 3 times at different times of day. Wasn't too busy and could always find a place to park. Love that area!

It was nice to get away from the hustle an basial of Los Angeles to a small town and beach Quite and peaceful that's for sure.

We stayed across the street at the Castle Inn and went for a stroll on this boardwalk several times a day. I found it most peaceful towards evening - you will see beautiful sunsets, and less people. Early morning joggers are out and about. You won't be sorry.

You can take as long or as little as you want but it is well worth the stop. As we missed on some great views on Big Sur, because it is closed for at least 6 months, this gave us some snippets of what we would have seen all along. Make sure you see it.

My wife and I fully enjoyed this beautiful walk. Walking along the splashing waves and breathtaking views of the ocean was very peaceful yet energizing. We would do it again the next time we visit Cambria.

Really enjoyed this walk despite the fact that it was a little chilly when we were there! Amazing views and very relaxing! Definitely the best thing I did while in the area! Remember to bring some long sleeves even in the summer as the sea breeze makes the air quite cool, especially in the mornings and afternoons.

The views were amazing, the constant sea breeze felt wonderful as the sun was shining. Even got to see some seals resting on huge rocks. The long walk was definitely rewarding. Can’t wait to go back there again.

Stayed at one of hotels on this street, beautiful views of the ocean,
pleasant and nice , worth driving by when visiting the area

We started our scenic drive of the PCH and Moonstone Beach from Cambria. It's a beautiful drive with hairpin turns and fantastic views with scenic viewpoints. We hope to be back.

Are you stressed by the day to day workload? Do you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of bumper to bumper traffic? Would you love to smell the fresh air of nature and soak your feet in cool waters? Well, what have you been waiting for? Cambria, California is waiting for you to enjoy a romantic stroll on the boardwalk. What are you waiting for?

This is a very nice wood plank trail to walk, run, and bike all up and down beautiful Moonstone Beach.

In addition to being a beautiful coastal drive, there is also a wonderful boardwalk along the cliffs, with several benches to stop, rest and enjoy the view. We watched surfers catching the waves.

Best views of p Pacific coast. Never too c crowded. Lots of wildlife and pet friendly.all hotels are across the road from beach.

Breathtaking
Review of Moonstone Drive
Reviewed 3 weeks ago via mobile
This is just a little over a mile long, right along the crashing surf you'd never expect as you turn a corner...a gem of the coast! Park, walk the boardwalk and take in the unobstructed view of the mighty Pacific! Leave the city behind, enjoy the moment and the people you have with you... and breathe!

What a beautiful place to walk & take in the views! There’s a great boardwalk along the ocean. We also saw a lot of surfers that day.

We drove along Moonstone Beach Drive and thought it was beautiful. The sky was blue and the waves were crashing. Could have spent the rest of my life there and been happy.

We stayed as a family with small children at the Cambria beach lodge along moonstone drive. It’s a quaint little spot for a beach vacation away from the crowds.

I love this place. Nice walk and gorgeous view. It gets chilly in the morning. It's not crowded and fun watchng the tiny squirrels.

The best local restaurant in town Great views Great food Great service this is a 10 star Restaurant Jim Carmichael 7-17 2020

just steps away from the motels along Moonstone Beach, this continuous board walk provides experience of walking the beach without having to traverse through the sand. Easy (level) walking with panoramic views of waves, tide pools, and wild life (rabbits and ground squirrels.

I've always loved walking along the Moonstone beach boardwalk! This is the first I could bring my dog and stay with her there. She loved it too- especially the boardwalk walks! It was also special to get to watch the sunset!

Halfway between morro bay and San simeon...easy drive either way... lots of pull-outs and viewing places. Had a great week end.

So much to see and you feel very safe. You will get plenty of easy exercise all day long. Lots of hotel options.

Great place to take a long stroll along a boardwalk next to the ocean. Great place to take some good photos of the ocean. Easy walking.

This is a well maintained wooden walkway to take you the length of Moonstone Beach...good if you want to avoid the sand and gives you a great view.

A very picturesque drive along the seashore. Well worth the few minutes it took to take the drive. Typical seashore views all along this area.

Don't miss the best walk in Cambria! The sea view is gorgeous and there are benches where you can stop and observe the surroundings. It is perfect for everyone in the family.

One of the best places off Route 1 to park up - freely and easily - and just wander.
Unlike most boardwalks this one blends and bends into the landscape providing access to wonderful sea views and close up encounters with the local wildlife.
Seals and sea lions on the rocks and ground squirrels, larks, a Northern Harrier and quail in, or above, the overgrowth were amongst the animals we saw with ease.
There are numerous places to sit and take a break and back the short distance across the main road in Cambria Village are plenty of cafes and restaurants.
One word of warning...the boardwalk is showing its age and some of the screws stand a little proud. If they come into contact with bare feet there will only be one winner. Otherwise...a wonderful place.

We love this walk. Its easy enough for a toddler to walk most of the path and you can see whales pretty often! Its easy to get to and there are many beach accessible
Spots along the way. There are many benches and a fun park at the end for kids and pets. My familymloves cambria! Its a sleepy little town with plenty of outdoor fun.

One of my most favorite places to visit. This place is great! I loved it from the first time we visited and look forward to visiting again and again!

A perfect boardwalk above the equally perfect central coast beach at Moonsone. Dogs on leash are allowed. Stunning sunsets.

We stayed just one night in Cambria, and went to the beach for sunset. Excellent spot, easy to get to, easy to park and walk along a small boardwalk. Kids will like it.

Lovely place to walk after a day's driving. Was relaxing and enjoyable looking for moonstones, and we found quite a few. It was early May so still cool, so can't comment on what it would be like for swimming.

Fantastic place to stroll along the ocean! The wood sidewalk makes for a smooth surface to walk on. There are some mild elevation changes, but no stairs. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. Need about an hour to go from one end to the other(~1 mile, I think). There are a few places to sit and enjoy the few as well.

We went for our babymoon before the arrival of our first child. It was such a beautiful view, we had great weather and it was the perfect workout while away from home. It's pretty busy with locals and visitors but great way to get to know the area.

Beautiful scenery, great place to gather beach treasures. Sunset can be breathtaking. Explore the place

Great date night activity. Stunning views, perfect weather, not too crowded, but hard to find a completely secluded spot. Memorable and relaxing getaway for the evening or weekend.

There are friendly squirrels in the parking lot that a lot of fun. The beach mostly had driftwood more than anything. The term moonstone is used more of a generic term locally. There are nice smooth pebbles if you are a beachcomber for the fun of it. I don't think there is jade or rare stones if you are looking for real treasures. We made a point to go at low tide at 2pm and had an enjoyable time. It was much much cooler than other areas and very windy. Bring a jacket even in july. Parking was easy and gps led us right to where we wanted to be. Sand was soft and was easy to walk on either with shoes or without.

This is a beautiful rocky beach that has breath-taking views. Well worth the stop and photo opportunity.

Our 1st time in this neck of the woods of California, and I now have a brand new place that we just love . Being late September and early October it’s not the busy season. There are still people around, it’s so quiet and laid back and so easy to get around. You are so close to the ocean at all times, how could anybody not feel at peace in such a beautiful setting.

Excellent place to park the car at roadside near a wooden planked path that takes you out to the beautiful seaside. The ocean breeze, the breaking surf and an overhead sea gull puts you at natures best. Enjoy your walk.

Love this place beautiful sites while walking & wonderful nature . Definitely advise visiting Cambria & walk this Beautiful area!

The wooden walk hugs the coasts for a great distance, and it's just a beautiful meditative and peaceful experience. The view is beautiful, obviously, and the whole dynamic of its old-fashioned wood construction, the slow ambling pace, the ocean view and sound, is just singularly lovely.

We went on this drive as well as visiting moonstone beach but I don’t think it was worth the detour in my opinion

We took our dog and went to Cambria for a long weekend. Our hotel was directly across the street from Moonshine Beach and the 2 mile trail. For two mornings at 6am, I took my dog for a long walk on this fabulous trail. The trail, as it turns out, is part of the 1200 mile California Coastal trail. Not only are you walking just above the beach, but there are beautiful wild flowers, small wildlife, little nooks with benches, outcrops with even better views. What better way to start your day.

Just a quick drive along the gorgeous Pacific coast and well worth every minute. Be sure to stop and walk along the boardwalk and relax on any of the many benches. Scenery always changes as the day progresses and the sun sets. Just amazing to be at peace in God's country!

Plan to use this for best views of local ocean scenery. Enjoyed the walk from Cambria Moonstone Beach hotel to local park at far end.

Moonstone which parallels Hwy 1 at the waterfront should be on the “to do” list.
From Fiscalini Ranch on the south end, all the way north up Moonstone Beach is worthy of long walks. Scenic drive, plenty of places to stop and get out of the car. Some shops, some restaurants and lodging options available on the drive.

Very nice boardwalk along Moonstone drive to walk along the beach and watch the sunset. Very convenient if you are staying at one of the hotels along Moonstone, which I recommend.

Wow! What a beautiful place. I'm in heaven every time I drive over! The view is really spectacular and quite a day to be there! Sunny skies, seal adrift, many families there to visit from all over! Would highly recommend for everyone!

You can see sea lions and pretty beaches. However, it was a little crowded. Even during covid! My suggestion, go further north, lots of empty beaches with fun tidepools to explore. Most "pull over " beaches do not have restrooms.

Beautiful... Went up for the Christmas lights at Cambria Pines Lodge and found the most beautiful area.

I would recommend to everyone who stayed in Cambria to take a stroll by the shoreline. Nice facility.

Each and everytime I have driven down this road, I have seen great sunsets and sunrises. The boardwalk is great for people and their dogs.

Really, the drive at moonstone beach, the sea view is impressive and the wood trail is extremely well done. It is not for MTB biking although looks like because is has a very sinuous layout with irregular up and downs.
We went in June and the wind was simply frozen! so a jacket must be wear at all times, even at bright days!
If you are traveling to see the Hearst castle at San Simeon it is worth stopping by.

The drive along the beach is very enjoyable! There is parking all along the way to access the beach boardwalk, and there are restaurants and inns across the street. The park is at one end, and it is very cute.

With Highway 1 blocked, you can always substitute this end. Start and Cambria, stay at Moonstone and drive up. Lot's of pretty stuff, plenty of souvenirs, and throw in a Castle if you want. Stroll the Boardwalk along the beach, pretty quiet in the Fall-worth going.

Moonstone Drive is beautiful, serene, peaceful, gorgeous, welcoming, friendly and "not-to-be-missed-on-a-trip-to-Cambria," place to see.
Simply gorgeous!
Worth walking it for the boardwalk part... then drive up the coast to see sea lions , etc. A convertible would be handy. But this is just a stunning example of amazing nature. Even on a misty day, this is great.
