This river is very clear and fun. You can see the bottom of the river for almost the entire length of it. There are two brief spots that are very fun rapids, and if your not careful can be a little treacherous, but if your careful your fine. One of the highlights of the river is the 3ft tall waterfall, that you go over, but you go over it with much ease. The water fall looks scarier than it actually is. Another highlight of the river is the calm and relaxed feeling you get for the last 30 minutes to an hour. The water moves you to your destination at a good pace, so you don't have to paddle a whole lot. Overall Lower Mountain Fork River, was amazing. (Make sure you watch the video that the canoe/kayaking places give you to watch, its very important so that you make all the correct turns).

Kayaking below Broken Bow lake on the mountain fork is amazing. The water is slow flowing and perfect for the inexperienced/novice. The water is clear and cool year round with great scenery. You can take your own craft or utilize one of the many outfitters in the area. I recommend Ambush outfitters on Hwy 70 east of Broken Bow. They will take you up river and you end up back at their location. Call for reservations on weekends and holidays!

This place is gorgeous. Nature at it's best, the water is cold and clear. It is fun as heck to kayak or canoe. Nice places to pull over and have lunch or swing from a rope into the river.

3 of us rented kayaks from Yippee Kayo Kayaks on July 4th for the top 3 miles of the river. They were a couple of very hospitable people, ready to help and teach and answer any questions. We dropped into the river at 9am and spent the next 5 hours splashing, getting wet, seeing beautiful southern Oklahoma and having a blast. The cool water was perfect against the pulsing sun, I didn't sweat one bit! The river was crowded, but I was not surprised. We were able to paddle in a way to keep to ourselves the majority of the time.
I was nervous about Presbyterian Falls in the beginning, but the rapids leading to it get you well prepared. I had an amazing time. I wish I could paddle Mt Fork every day!!
