3 of 30 Best Attractions in Bryson City

Nice beers with music on the rooftop. The food truck in rear adds what is needed in a good brewery - good food - not just bar food.

It is great Bryson City has a brew pub. When I lived there in the 1990s we could only dream of a place that made good beer. I stopped in this weekend and had a few beers. It was good, not great, but we still enjoyed ourselves.
Inside the place is nice & staff friendly. It has a roof patio, which I assume in nice weather is very nice and popular.
Food? Didn’t see any, but a taco cart was parked in the back lot. Food/menu would have been great.
Beer? It was good, but not the best I ever had. It was great after a day of fishing on a cold evening.
Overall it was fine & I appreciate its presence in a small town like BC.

Oh yes, I love spending time in Asheville, for multiple reasons. But other spots in western NC are great to visit too. We've gone to Bryson City for years--2d home not too far away--and have taken note of how the town keeps progressing. New to the downtown scene is Mountain Layers, located right next to the Tukasegee River. It's a two-story brewery with those gorgeous stainless steel rubs, and there is an AWESOME outside deck on the top floor. Will save that for another visit, when the temps aren't in single digits!
Try the Peacock's Chestnut Ale--different and delicious.. And also Fontana Happiness IPA is an excellent choice.
Here's your double dip: Dinner at The Bistro at the Everett Hotel, then more sips at Mountain Layers.

We love Bryson city and take several trips during the year on our motorcycle. The city is central to some of the best riding in the country and we love visiting. Unfortunately we rarely get to stay overnight as we are always moving but this trip was different as the leaves were changing to peak and the local breweries including Mountain Layers had their fall selections on tap.
This was our first time here but we sat up on the sky deck as it was a beautiful day with clear blue sky. All of the brews were fantastic and the staff members made our stay fun.
We came back in the evening and sat downstairs talking with the other guest and a very nice your lady bartender.
We will be back and highly recommend !

It’s not a bad brewery down sides is they don’t serve food and there’s a nasty food truck outside to get food other down side is too many IPA’s they need more pilsners or light lagers The environment is okay bartenders could use a little more personality but they do make sure your glass is full They don’t have any competition so it’s the only game in town

I didn't check out the patios, but inside is nice and the beer is great! I loved the red & brown selections. Staff is friendly, and I would recommend this place!

Wife and I did day trip to Bryson City. We frequent breweries in our portion of Western North Carolina. The service was very friendly and welcoming. The choices of seating was terrific. The beers we had was some of the smoothest, best tasting craft beer we have had. A number of our beers here are very bitter and hoppy. Would have given five stars and two thumbs way up. There were a group with very loud and rambunctious children, we left shortly after they arrived. I get the whole family atmosphere, but when I spend $6 for a pint of beer, I want to relax. Otherwise I'd drink beer at a playground.

We were in Bryson City for the eclipse -- perfect spot for it, as we found a parking place in the heart of downtown, and the skies were blue and clear -- and decided to have a cold one at a new brewery that has opened since I was last there. I think the barkeep said it had been open about five months.
The upstairs patio was closed for a private eclipse party, and the main tasting room upstair, while pretty large, was crowded, so we snagged a standing spot near the copper vats and had beers ($5) and a flight (I think $7, not sure). All good.
Pleasant atmosphere. Good and varied selection of craft beers. Really friendly staff. And a great location just off the river on Everett Street in the middle of town.

My favorite among all of the six breweries and taprooms we tried in Sylva and Bryson City.
Outstanding service! Lisa Kim was warm and welcoming and immediately we felt at home.
Their hazy IPA hit the spot and though we visited on a rainy day, I imagine that on a sunny day the rooftop is the ticket.
Will visit again...no need to make the rounds of any other spots.

Great beers & very friendly staff. What else does one need? Rooftop seating is the place to be. We wish them all the best. See ya next year!

Day date with my husband. We began at a winery and ended here. What a cool brewery! We entered down stairs where the brewery was and then headed up stairs to the bar. I ordered a frozen moscato and my husband ordered a light beer. Out back was The Rice Truck which served Hawaiian style food. I ordered the ahi tuna which was fantastic. Would definitely visit again!

Stopped in for one beer and went to rooftop to check things out. Local beer was good and price was fair. Everyone wearing mask unless they were consuming I guess...... I say I guess because I think the rule is that you need to be consuming stationary. When we came in a man seated right next to us ordering was enjoying his beer without a mask of course. So at the top of the stairs I decided to take a drink of my beer and look at the t-shirts for sale on the wall. I took a drink of my beer and as soon as I took one stop toward the outside deck I got a very loud "Mam you need to wear your mask at all times" What the heck..... yes she was talking to me she did say Mam but what about the guy at the table with no mask with his glass in front of him. So I guess the rule is you can take your mask off to drink your beer but only when at a table?? Who knows anymore with these crazy times. Just glad to be out and about and I am sure the brewery also is grateful for the business.

I was by myself except for my German Shepherd. NC law prohibits dogs in breweries. I had already had horrible experiences waiting for service at other restaurants. I planned to just walk by but the manager was outside and asked if he could help me after he realized my predicament. That’s right the manager asked to help me while I walked by when waiters wouldn’t give me the type of day at other places. Regular food trucks, a roof deck, a great staff, and river views make this the place to be in BC.

Great selection of beers! I love sours so I wasn't disappointed 🍺 Tasty, refreshing, and perfect for relaxing with friends. Definitely coming back!

My buddies and I stopped off to get a couple of crowlers from these folks for
Our cabin. We were going through Bryson city and their beer was recommended to us by some of the locals.
My buddy got the Kicking Asphalt Black Lager and I got the Big Little Town Brown Ale. They were both excellent. Recommend you pop by this microbrewery if you are swinging through Bryson City.

What a great little place to stop for an in-house made craft beer and a rooftop overlooking the River to enjoy it. If you like well crafted beer, this is a must visit!!

We were impressed with the beer and the service at this brewery. Our bartender helped us choose a beer, then explained that they didn't serve food but recommended we have food delivered from a nearby restaurant. We enjoyed the great beer and the food that was delivered very quickly from across the street. Meanwhile, people in the upstairs bar area were so friendly. Some were locals, others vacationers like us. What a great place!

Great brewery with friendly staff and great beer. Stopped by there twice during our stay in Bryson City. Sat on rooftop to view the sites and sounds of the small downtown area.

My husband and I love this new brewery in Bryson City! Not only are the beers wonderful, so are the owners! We have enjoyed getting to know Mark. He goes out of his way to treat everyone like you are his best friend.
The Scotch Ale is my favorite, but I also enjoy trying different ones and have been very impressed with each! I also love the pale ale. My husband is very impressed with both of the IPA's. The brewery has a large rooftop deck with beautiful views of the mountains. Great place to go! Highly recommend! You will not be disappointed!

We visited in September during a short break in Bryson City and what a great place it is. The welcome we got the first time we walked through the door was terrific - so friendly. There are 2 bar areas one downstairs and a further larger one upstairs with a great outside terrace overlooking the main street. Our barman Eddie was very helpful inassisting us with our choice of their brews giving us a small sample to enable our choice. I was really pleased to see that they offer 5oz, 10oz or 20oz sizes as i am not a big beer drinker and the 5oz was the perfect size for me to give my choice a try. I wish i could remember the name as it was a bit odf a tongue twister but really liked it. We planned to call in the next day and I told Eddie that i would have the 10oz then. Lo and behold when we went in the next day Eddie remembered us, remembered my choice and that i had said i would have the 10oz. What brilliant service and he had only met us once. So for good beer in a great location it is a must visit place in Bryson City oh and they have live music at times and serve food. Enjoy.

We visited this brewery in January (so we didn't get to experience the large rooftop outdoor seating area) but the indoor portion of the bar felt very new and clean. The beer was truly quality beer (we're from Charlotte so we are used to having many great breweries at our fingertips). I highly recommend visiting this brewery if you're in the Bryson City area and I would definitely rate their beer better than the other brewery in BC.

The beer was spot on for each style but the staff take took it to another level! My favorite was the West Coast style IPA. I can’t wait to return to this brewery.

We visited Mountain Layers twice while in Bryson City. Definitely the best brewery in the town. They are really good at brewing Stouts. Never had a bad pour there. The bartenders are very personable and friendly. The owner Mark is great. He even remembered me from two years ago. They have different food trucks there nightly. THey have a really nice rooftop deck. If you like craft brews this is a must stop.

We went to this amazing new brewery on Everett St. today. We have eagerly awaited the completion of this latest brew pub in Bryson City! Once inside, you will have a clear look at the gigantic vats brewing the beers. There is a bar downstairs and a bar on the rooftop overlooking the mountains and the adorable town of Bryson City. You can sit inside or outside at one of the umbrella tables. The manager said that soon there will be an awning covering the rooftop. We sampled 4 of the beers and loved every one. There is a wide variety of wines as well. No food is served here but any restaurant in town will deliver an order to your table. They have all the menus to help you choose. A popular Food Truck will be a permanent fixture by the end of June. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean. There is logo apparel for sale as well - T shirts, zippered hoodies and hats as well as the signature glassware. This is a must visit on a pub crawl of Bryson or just for a single visit. I know you wont want to miss this!

Owners and beer are both wonderful! If you need a mountain location to chill....this is it!
Great trout fishing and beer....tough combo to beat!

I have visited many craft breweries and found this cozy place one of the best I've been to. By far the best in this beautiful mountain town. They have a wide variety of brews (my group tried 8 of the 11 available), I especially liked the Gratzer! The beer is good and cold, the staff is warm, friendly and knowledgeable. They have 2 comfortable, climate controlled bars, a small one downstairs and a larger one upstairs with an outdoor deck, perfect for relaxing with a brew and enjoying the beautiful surrounding mountains. Can't wait to come back.

Picture this: hot, sunny, end of summer Sunday (Labor Day weekend, to be exact). Lazy, lofty walk in "downtown" Bryson City. In all of it's country charm, we found ourselves looking for a cold one and some ....whatever the day had in store. No plans.
Stopped at the Outfitters and visited their adjoining tap room. Super cute and SUPER small but great in its own right. Decided to get a bite as we were passing Montain Layers and noticed a sign on the door that read "RIB CITY BBQ". Hell yeah! Brews and BBQ? Perfection.
Walking into the main entrance of the brewery, we were warmly greeted by a gentleman who directed us to upstairs and told us about the back patio (my husband smokes) and that we would find the BBQ at the back where we could order, get our food and go upstairs to the 2nd story bar and/or rooftop patio. Got our food, took it upstairs and ordered Whaddayear (whit beer) and it was so light and refreshing and not as hevily hopped as some whits that I'd been choosing. I loved it. Best I'd had. Hubby is into reds and they just completed a double red last week so he chose a rye ale which he suprisingly liked. We both liked our slections so much we had 2 (or 3) and then we got the CROWLER! So good and holds 2 servings of your selection and keeps it fresh for (x=amount of days, can't remember because I'd had a couple of them by now). They serve flights and they're served in the cutest, most unique way - it's a little flight picnic table and they'd better patent this little gem. It's briliiant, really.
But wait! There's more!!!
We'd met a few great people from other areas, or areas close by and just enjoyed talking with them so much so hubs needs a smoke. We go out back where Rib City BBQ truck was still serving. BBQDave and Heidi, to be exact. (they'll get their own review that is nothing short of perfect). We bring our beers; keeping in mind Bryson City doesn't allow booze on the sidewalk so we camped out at the picnic table and when a lull in the food orders hit, David and Heidi came to join us. They were instant friends and I can't say enough about the food or the company. A few more people join us and we've now made other friends that I know we will have for years to come.
Out walks a taller, congenial and hospitable man with an inviting smile and the nicest dimples to enhace that lovely smile. Mark. That would be Mark; they owner. Such a nice mild-mannered, transparent person who owns the establishment with his wife, who we didn't have the pleasure of meeting. Mark is an unassuming gentleman with such warmth and kindness and free to share his story and history and all with a smile and genuinely appears to care about his patrons and people in general. With a solid past of observing and serving people, this seems a good fit for him and we will definitley be back. A lot.

We love to try breweries, and so this was a must stop in Bryson City. Very friendly people at both the bar at the street level and the one upstairs. They allowed us to try 4 beers before we settled on one. They even allowed me to have a beer that was half one beer and half another kind (my own snakebite). The deck was comfortable even in 90 degree weather, a large fan kept the air moving and in a shade. Very nice place!

The food truck at the back of the brewery caught my eye as we were walking out of a store. I’m so glad we tried it, it was delicious! I got the chicken catsu, which was good. My husband got the garlic chicken which was amazing! They give you a lot of food. Each of our chicken dishes came with 2 heaping scoops of sticky rice and a macaroni salad. We were able to sit up on the brewery’s rooftop and enjoy the nice weather and scenery as we ate. Would definitely go again!

The best beer we have ever had, it has a bright, full(not heavy) and has a lively flavor. We were told they use all real ingrediants no flavoring. If it says it has lemon, pumpkin or cinnamon in it, then it has the real thing no flavorings.
We are from Monnesota, we like trying new things. The Brewery is very unique, it is clean, fresh and has a new look to it, could be because one of the owners is retired law enforcement. There is a lot of one of a kind fixtures, live wood-edged bar tops, a street signal light in the upper taproom along with a Big Asss fan(that is a brand name).

Beer was good, but sorry bartenders upstairs. If you are not local, don't expect them to acknowledge you are even at the bar. Now, A.C. downstairs was great! Make sure you have him for service.

I would have totally given this place 5 stars but when a bartender tells me he isn’t doing flights when he is busy because it is too much and I should be lucky we caught him before everyone gets there, I am like excuse me????
Loved the setup upstairs, and the outdoor part ( downstairs is a little tight).
They had a few great beers.
I wanted to buy a glass and the bartender gave me a used one that has been used at the bar by other people, when I buy something I want it to be new. I have never had this happen at a brewery.
Your crew can make or break you and today he broke them!

Incredible craft brewery find in Bryson City, NC. We are avid craft brewery visitors! We love trying the wares of various breweries and enjoying the various interpretations of craft brewery staples (IPA, Pilsner, Lager, Brown, Amber, Porter, Stout, etc). Mountain Layers exceeded our expectations. Don't let the storefront fool you - they had 16 craft beers on tap for us to sample and sample we did over two days. I lean dark and their black lager, brown, and amber beers were all quite drinkable! Read their menu for accurate (IMO) descriptions of their beers. My boyfriend leans IPA and both of their IPA's as well as their pilsner and lager were again quite drinkable. We also sampled their Witbeir and Blonde and were again very favorably impressed. In all we sampled 10 beers and every one of them, despite our individual leanings, were something either of us would drink again. In fact, we came back twice for growler fills and the staff greeted us as if we were regulars. HIGHLY recommend!! There is literally something for everyone - whether you drink craft beer, prefer cider, soft drinks or wine. Oh, and the local food trucks are pretty friendly and tasty too! We sincerely appreciate the hospitality of the staff as well!!

Good brews, super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Stopped in during our week in Bryson City. Rooftop seating was comfy, nice fans and shade to take the edge off the heat. Brewery is right beside the river, perfect for people watching or river watching. They don't do food right now but have menus for the local joints. A must visit if you like good craft beer and are in Bryson City.

Small brewery - yet very nice. Had a wide selection of beers, wine slushies and non-alcoholic choices. Went back at night to enjoy the live music on the rooftop. Highly recommend just relaxing on rooftop and enjoying the beers and music.

Excellent beer. Great bartender. No food but you can order great food from across the street and they deliver it right to your table. Great evening.

Excellent beer, excellent service, and the food truck out back was a treat! The teenagers recommend the ‘combo’ - Katsu and Shoyu chicken - very juicy and tender.

Stopped by to have a cold beer and get off our feet. The rooftop deck is a great place to stretch out and have a drink. Flights are available as well as pints, half pints, and samplers. The several different beers we tried were very flavorful.. We deemed this to be the best brewery we visited in Bryson City.

Ordered at food truck behind the restaurant & waited inside for the buzzer to signal food pick up. Nice ambiance, décor & barmaid.
Food truck had ample portions & 2 starches along with the protein-unique flavors-will be back!

Brewery Review-
Mountain Layers Brewing Company Bryson City, NC
After sampling some of their Irish Stout at Blue Ridge Beer Hub and checking them out on FB and online, seeing their solid taplist, paying them a visit was a must since it is about an hour from the house. I have never heard of them until this week-there's good reason why-and that's a positive.
The facility is small but located beside the Tuckasegee River in Downtown Bryson City. Parking is free and ample. It was raining and getting dark when we got there and the indoor seating is limited (we never went upstairs because it was raining and they were at capacity due to restrictions) so we sat in a small area near the front door and the bar.
There is a food truck on site daily. Last night's was Mexican. Fairly authentic street food. Not sure if this is a permanent thing or just to get them open through restrictions-In NC breweries, distilleries and wineries may remain open if they abide by capacity restrictions and have a food truck if they don't have integrated food operations on site.
Clean facility. The people are nice and love beer. All production is done there on a small scale.
Only negative I will give them is the limited selection of non-alcoholic beverages for the non-beer drinker.

Very friendly place! Good beers and you can have a lunch on the upper floor outside! The brewery doesn’t have a kitchen, but the small restaurant opposite delivers to the restaurant! Menu is available! Quick phone call and they deliver within 20 min. The BBQ Pork Burger & the Hot Dogs are awesome!!!

First we tried Nantahala Brewery, but the beer was warm & the service was Fierce. We tried Mountain Layers Brewery! The Beer was Awesome. This became our 2nd home in Bryson City! The beer Is Cold & Fabulous. The Service is Phenomenal!! The Owner, Mark Pettit, introduced himself & visited for awhile even though he was busy. The view of Tuckaseegee River is beautiful & tranquil. We made it a Daily Stop! All sisters agree, Highest Recommendation!!!!

Stopped here a couple times after hiking the park. Each time was pleasant, the bartender was friendly, and the drinks cold and refreshing. Although I'm not much of a beer person (my husband is and had his favorites), I did very nicely with the hard cider. Place is new and still growing, but it's a keeper.

Excellent atmosphere. Actually two taprooms in one. Downstairs is smaller and more quiet. Upstairs is much larger and has outdoor seating, live music, great views of downtown Bryson City and the river. Would definitely recommend.

Friendly service!
Cold brews on tap!
Great selection of craft brews, especially dark brews.
Upper barroom and deck, as well as a lower floor (smaller)

This place is so clean, and the staff on both levels were so friendly and helpful. The rooftop deck was really nice. The only downside is they don't have food here, but the restaurant across the street will deliver, right to the rooftop! Good selection of brews.

I stopped in here because the other brewery in town has lost a little of its feel. The staff here is eager to let you try a small sample without charging you. I tried their Scotch Ale on their recommendation and it was one of the best brews I’ve had. They also have A/C which the other apparently doesn’t so on this hot day it is Mountain Layers for the win.

We loved being out on the deck. Weather was wonderful. Enjoyable trivia. Great Eddie's Burgers from the Rice Wagon food truck. Great pours on the wine also.

This place is awesome! From the amazing beer, to the hospitable owners, to the great ambience...you can’t go wrong. I had the most hilarious/delicious flight (cutest set up), glad I did, I enjoyed every beer. Two thumbs up!!

This place is great. They have some very good beers. My favorite was the Bituminous Stout. It was so good I brought a growler of their stout back home. I met the owner, Mark, who is a great guy. I met all of the staff and they are all great. This place has a rooftop deck and restaurants in the area will deliver to the brewery. If you like to visit small breweries this place is a must in Bryson City.

This is a great small town brewery owned by local residents. They take pride in their beers and in the community. The beer is great, the atmosphere is great, and the location is great. You won’t be disappointed!

What's a beer enthusiast vacationing in the Bryson City area do after a hike? They visit a brewery, of course! The Mountain Layers was a cool place on a hot day. Nice IPA, friendly beer-tender, nice rooftop deck, even spoke with the brewer.

While spending a relaxing weekend in Bryson city, I stopped by for a couple beers at Mountain Layers brewery. Upon entering, the staff let me know that they did not serve food. That was fine and I appreciated them letting me know. The brew tenders were knowledgeable about their beers and provided samples to try. I drank a delicious IPA and enjoyed views of the river and the mountains surrounding Bryson city from the nice roof top deck.

Jeffrey downstairs guided us through their dark beets and ipa s. Great selection, low prices. Scotch ale, dark strong ale, good beers.

We hung out on the first floor and bartender Kim gave us a great orientation on the beer. We had food delivered from Snak Shack and enjoyed several of the beers. There were 12 beers and they have something to please everyone. They are happy to let you taste before you commit. They are all really great and the service was equally is great. Don't miss this place while visiting Bryson City.

Stopped in the sample some beers, and was absolutely thrilled with everything I tried. The Kellerpils was the finest example of the style that I've ever had, but everything they make is wonderful. BONUS...Widespread Panic was playing over the house stereo when I walked in! Home Team! I'll be back ASAP.

We had a beer on the upstairs deck each night we spent in Bryson City. Pleasant second floor deck next to the river. They brew several beers. I liked the IPA, but my companions said others were good. He is pretty small and apparently just sells on the premises. They have no food service, but a couple of restaurants will deliver. An added benefit on Thuresay -Saturday, a food truck serving bar b que serves out back. Hope they do well.

Loved, loved this place. Downstairs bartender made a super great addition to the great beers!! Will definately be back.

As the beer drinker in my family I enjoyed their Playboating Pale Ale and Nydee Effret IPA very much. Had a good cider for my wife and soda in the bottle for my son. Sat on the roof top deck on a beautiful day. Could not have been better.

Food truck had good food to go with our beers. I liked the wide selection of beers including wheat, seasonal, and lagers. Different IPAs to pick from. Rooftop seating was nice as well.

Really terrific beer. If you're a hophead their IPA is very good. There's indoor and outdoor seating and the rooftop is very nice. Service bars on both levels.

We visited Bryson City like so many others it seems, to ride the Polar Express. After the ride, we stopped here for a drink. It was enjoyable, as we took advantage of the second floor deck overlooking the town. Nice selection of craft and local beers. Service was great; very clean too. Only downfall for our family was no elevator being available for elderly parents who have difficulty with stairs. But overall a very good experience at a cool place in downtown Bryson City!

We drove to Bryson City from Cherokee for drinks and dinner. Glad we stopped by Mountain Layers Brewing Company. You enter through a very small room and bar, but upstairs there is a larger bar, other indoor seating and a nice deck. We had a very good IPA and porter, and it was a warm and friendly place to be. There are several restaurants just down the street. We would definitely recommend this taproom.

If you have a wheelchair it'll be tough to hang out on the roof patio overlooking the creek, but otherwise. Beer selection, ambiance, then having a food truck option later for sustenance all welcome. enjoyed the mountain and creek views from that roof top patio just hanging out there although seating is not the most comfortable and it's a steep walk up the stairs.

A nice brew place. Good atmosphere and indoor and outdoor seating. It was clean and with the staff was good. Lots of good drink options. Prices were reasonable.

Great stop for a local brewed beer. Taps up n down stairs. Table games up stairs over looking main Street. Staff friendly

Bryson City is a small, quaint town with a brewery that has great craft beer brewed right below their roof top porch. Laid back, a more intimate setting downstairs with seating for a few, or head upstairs to the larger drinking room that's bright and airy leading to the outside roof top with umbrellas and a birds eye view of the surrounding mountains. Take their flight of beers before deciding what you're settling into a pint. You'll have a hard time deciding which one to order. Hungry? There are several restaurants in the area that deliver as well as an awesome food truck out back that serves a mean Thai Curry and fish tacos!

We've been visiting Bryson City at least every quarter for the last 10 years - Mountain Layers is a great recent addition. Say "hello" and bypass the small downstairs bar and head up to the spacious 2nd floor - half inside and half rooftop. Couple of TVs tuned to sports. Parking on the street or behind the brewery. I tried the Pale Ale and the IPA - both tasty. You can bring food in or they have menus for a couple of restaurants that will deliver. We met the owner - Mark Pettit - friendly guy - we wish him well.

Good indoor/outdoor seating options and my husband enjoyed their beer. It would be a nice addition if they had food available on site.

We were delighted to find a second microbrewery in Bryson City. Mountain Layers serves up some tasty brews with friendly service. The rooftop deck looks amazing but it was raining during our visit. The also offer menus of local restaurants that will deliver. Do not miss this!

I really like these small breweries. The beer seems to be better. Only a few tables downstairs but a nice deck up stairs to people watch downtown. Awesome Scottish ale. Well worth stopping into if in Bryson

We were staying in Bryson City with our hiking group. It was a rainy day so decided to check out the brewery. Extremely friendly staff, good choice of craft beers and a nice outside covered deck up stairs. Definitely worth trying if you like craft beers. We like IPA's and they had several to choose from. All were good.

Awesome little spot to enjoy some really good beer with friends while taking in the beautiful views. Highly recommend stopping in!

Great selection of beers. Very tasty. Tap room down and upstairs. Nice folks that were eager to serve. Stop in when you're in Bryson City.

As a local business owner, I can say that Mountain Layers Brewery has been a wonderful addition to Bryson City. Great atmosphere, beautiful friendly owners, fantastic location, wonderful food truck and of course AMAZING BEER. What more can you ask for? 5 stars all day long!!

Great local brewery. A large selection of beers, had outside seating on roof and in back. We also had dinner from a Hawaiian food truck which was also great. Prices for both were reasonable. Everyone had masks, felt safe, and enjoyed draft beer for the first time in a while.

This was our first ever trip to Bryson City, but I did research beforehand on the two breweries there. While I visited both, Mountain Layers was the BEST! Amazing beer, the bartenders are incredibly awesome, and the atmosphere was the best. They welcome you in and stay great customer service wise the whole time. I couldn’t suggest them enough. They let you sample anything prior to purchasing which is great too. They have an outdoor deck that’s peaceful with the river and views of the smokies. While they don’t have food on site, unless they’re doing a food truck, they have several restaurants you can order from and get delivered to you while there enjoying their brews. If you’re in the area, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed

A great choice of beers, friendly and welcoming staff and a very pleasant upstairs room and terrace. They also have several local restaurants who deliver food - a wonderful concept. Pity it's so far from home!

First visit did not disappoint, great rooftop bar patio overlooking the main street. Everyone was so friendly, will definitely come back.

Great people, great brews in a next-door-neighbor atmosphere. The rooftop bar offers a serene view of the city and they often have music on the patio. Mark and Kim have done an excellent job of offering hospitality in a relaxing atmosphere!

We absolutely loved this place. Situated in a really beautiful part of town with great panoramic views from the rooftop seating. The beer was solid and the staff were genuinely nice folks. The Hawaiian food truck was a surprise hit as well. I had some of the best short rib I've ever had. The garlic chicken and Ahi Tuna were also excellent. We stopped in on a whim ,but now will never miss it when we return to Bryson City.

10 day trip visited several brewing establishments and this one came out on top. The ipa Fontana hands down nailed it. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. Food Truck, The Rice Wagon, out back knocked it out if the park.

The beer is phenomenal, music on the deck in the evening is relaxing, and the view of the mountains from the rooftop area is wonderful! Highly recommend stopping by and grabbing a drink or a taking home a crowler!

a fantastic spot for a great cold one on a beautiful fall afternoon. Did not sample the food truck so can't share that experience but we really enjoyed the upper deck overlooking the river. The "back patio" where the food truck is located was not an atmosphere I would encourage, small and not too lovely. The downstairs bar is quite small but the bar upstairs is very nice and the server was helpful and most pleasant. Everyone on the deck was very friendly and engaging so it was a really fun experience and good beers.

Definitely worth a visit. Second operation to open shop in Bryson City and it's serving up a worthy pint. Definitely need to find some snacks to offer. Rooftop deck is a nice addition.

Love the rooftop seating and instrumental blue grass while we are. So relaxing. The food truck was delicious and reasonable.

This brewery has all kinds of potential. A beautiful location overlooking the Tuckaseigee River in downtown Bryson City. The upper patio and bar will continuously draw a crowd by itself. The beer they have is decent and well made, especially the stout which was my personal favorite and one of the better ones in the region. Those are the positives. The thing they are truly missing is two or three "intro" craft beers. A lightly hopped blonde and brown ale would go a long way in appeasing most beer drinkers who are not necessarily steeped into the craft scene but still willing to try craft beer. I bring large groups to the area to fish regularly and I don't see them or your run of the mill train riders drinking here for lack of said "easy drinkers". Include those and you have yourself a destination brewery.

Excellent brewpub! Finely crafted Ipa's and a stout to die for.knowledgeable staff! A must stop if you are thirsty!

Will be spending more time here. Great brews and a cool bar or spend time on the roof top garden. Also a BYOF, or order in. Wow. 2 Breweries in little old BC.

Great beer selection and atmosphere. Kim and Mark are definitely adding their own "layer" to BC. Great people. Looking forward our next visit!

The ONLY brewery in Bryson City. The owners Mark is a wonderful person. I highly recommend this place. The “other” brewery sold out.

Very nice surprise, great selection of beers that they make right there. Very friendly, nice purple working there. There an upstairs/outdoor bar and 1 inside. Just a few seats at a bar, but tables.
Very glad we stopped

Lovely brewery with a wide range of beers and styles; friendly service and great live music on the deck. Perfect place to watch the sunset and meet some new friends.

Our group of ten stopped by after ziplining. They only serve beer, no food, which is typical of breweries. This place is new and so clean! Loved the upstairs! We sampled the flight and the kids enjoyed Dr Pepper straight out of a glass bottle. They thought that was pretty cool.
Beer was excellent! My fav was the Cider.

I got a flight and I actually enjoyed every beer that was on the flight. This place had a great atmosphere and I love the big deck upstairs, perfect for having a cold beer outside overlooking the town. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable about their beers. It was a great experience and I cannot wait to go back and try what else they have brewed!

New brewery in town to add to the beer scene in Bryson city. We vacation here every summer we love the feel of the town and they’re so much fun stuff to do. Really enjoyed the coffee stout and the rye even took a growler back home with us. They have a great patio and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Jeff is very knowledgeable ask for him he was upstairs at the bar our entire stay.

Great little find. Dedicated to only making good beer and selling onsite. Soon to have food trucks and live music. We will have to check that out

This was our second time stopping here, and it has quickly become one of my favorite breweries. The staff are phenomenal the brews are great, and who can beat sitting on the rooftop looking out at the mountains. Plus we love that you can grab a sandwich from across the street or bring a picnic lunch and have while enjoying some brews!

This is a great little place for a beer after a hike or rafting or just because! The staff were friendly and all of the beers we tried were delicious. There is a small seating area downstairs at the entrance. The larger seating area is upstairs where there is both enclosed and patio seating.

Stopped in for a beer and to catch a bit of the football game...decent beer, cool atmosphere, friendly staff!

This is a great little brewery! The atmosphere was perfect with a rooftop terrace overlooking town and the river. Our bartender Eddie was super friendly and knowledgeable. The beers were excellent! Can't wait to visit again.

Super friendly. Had the Peacock- great beer! Loretta's Snak Shak and Pasqualinos will deliver. Stayed at the bottom bar, then looked upstairs at the rooftop deck before leaving- both areas are great. If we had time, we would have come back again during our week here. Will definitely return next year.

The staff are super friendly, the beers are world-class, and the atmosphere is great! I love this place!

Stopped in to try the new brewery and we're delighted with the rooftop seating and the excellent beer! Staff was friendly and enthusiastic! We had a pizza delivered and enjoyed the evening. I thought they closed too early though. We left and walked to a nearby place to continue, but would have preferred to stay put. Also would have liked to have our dog allowed in like most breweries do. We will definitely be back!

We stopped in after the train ride. Sat downstairs, apparently should have sat upstairs. Beer was good. Lacklustre atmosphere. Bartenders need customer service training and a personality. We left our table and helped a man and his handicapped wife (using a walker) into the bar and to our table. Not one employee lifted a finger to help and when we asked that they wipe the table for the new customers, the bartender handed us a wet cloth to do it ourselves. Wish we could have taken back our tip .

Best beer in town and an awesome, friendly staff. Rooftop deck is the best place for just relaxing. This place is taking the proper steps for COVID-19 and cleaning appropriately. No onsite restaurant but a food truck parks there almost every day.

Nice place to go and relax. Nice river view to enjoy some good local brews. I would recommend to anyone visiting the Bryson City area. Prices are good as there are different sizes you can order to try different brews.

A nice place to hang out, go straight upstairs for the roof top bar. The views are beautiful! The local brews are good! Highly recommend if you like local brews!

My wife loved the beer that had passionfrut in it, all we tried was really well made. Had a great time on the 2nd floor balcony watching the sun set. This place is worth the stop in, they are friendly & the beer is really good. Hope to visit back on my next mountains trip.

Just stopped in for a couple of beers. Great prices and very good beer. We tried their 1887 Amber Ale and The Helles You Say.

Good beer and roof top is nice. Great place to chill in between outdoor activities. Nice view of the mountains from rooftop.

Come for the beer. Really that is all they have. They have an arrangement with a place across the street and the bartender upstairs provided us their menu. We phoned and placed our credit card order including optional delivery person tip. Our wings were good and arrive promptly. But that is not part of this review. Back to Layers: we chatted a bit with Eddie on the ground floor. I presume he is a brewmaster. If not, he was certainly very knowledgeable on what he had to offer. On his suggestion I tried a Scottish Ale (cannot recall the name) and it was outrageous! Seating is very limited downstairs so we went to the upper level. Up there you have the option of being inside or out on the rooftop deck. We had already had our share of sun and chose to sit at the upstairs bar and enjoy the bartender and a/c.

It was a beautiful afternoon. We stopped in for a beer and stayed for more! Sitting on the great roof top patio was wonderful. The beer was great. The service great. If you like beer make sure you stop at Mountain Layers!

We stopped in at Mountain Layers after a short hike with our kids. The rooftop patio was nice to enjoy cold drinks and sit in the fresh air. The beer was great and the kids had chips, water and soda.

Mountain Layers is a great place to stop for craft beer. I went with friends and we started with a flight. My favorite is the Midday Monk, a Belgian Ale. There are two bars, one downstairs and one up, and a rooftop sundeck overlooking downtown Bryson City. Everyone who works there is super friendly and the owners are really nice people!

Behind the building is an outdoor patio area. They have umbrellas and plenty of seating. It was a good spot for our pup, they even provided us with a water dish without us asking. They don’t have food but a food truck parked right out back (best meal hands down).

Enjoyed hanging here (friendly staff). Good selection of brews and ciders. Rooftop tables where you can view the river and Bryson City. There is a food truck out back with delicious food!

Grabbed some lunch at the high test deli down the street. Came here to eat and grab a beer. Some good options. Had the blonde beer. Also tried the honey beer. Also really good. Will be back to try other beers.

We stopped in to Mountain layers brewing Company because it had outdoor seating. It has a view of the main street and a view of the river. They do not serve food but told us a food truck would be there at 5 PM for us to get food. The bartender was very friendly and helpful with choosing a beer that we would like. He gave us a couple of samples and I decided on the honey beer and my husband had the wit. We enjoyed our visit but wished we had planned to stay for the live music.

Great little brewery with a rooftop deck that you can enjoy. They don't offer food, but they have several options including a great little place across the street that delivers to the rooftop deck. They also occasionally have food trucks. Check with them when you go as they also have live music on certain nights. It's just a laid back place with great beer. We have been several times since they opened and it has never disappointed us.

Pretty cool brewery right on the river. They’ll let you sample their different homemade beers. The Honey beer was my favorite. Beautiful views and a great band plays every Friday and Saturday night.

After visiting twice since they opened, Mountain Layers has taken the top spot in my book for best brewery in Bryson. They have a nice variety of great brews, offer flights for sampling different beers, and will fill your growlers for you to take a taste of the mountains home. Plus, their location right on the river with the rooftop bar is awesome, or they offer 2 indoor bars that are *air-conditioned*. We had a great time and will definitely keep returning in the future!

We came in here to check it out and have a few beers while we ate some take out from the food truck outside (also really good!)
The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We really loved the rooftop style patio and we watched the sunset out there while sipping on a wacky but tasty beer (like habanero something) and it was just calming. The vibe is relaxed and the staff were chill. I recommend this place for sure!

My wife and I enjoy microbreweries so on a trip through Bryson City, NC, we decided to stop. We enjoyed the craft beer…excellent quality. The second floor patio that overlooks the river and the town is hard to beat! Great experience. We will stop again when we are in the area.

Mountain Layer Brewing Company is one of the newer places in town. Owner is very friendly and place is clean, prices average with something being on special every night. The open air roof patio is the best place to sit weather permitting. They do not serve food but you can bring in whatever you wish.

I usually enjoy Mexican Lagers. Theirs was 4 out of 5. Rice Wagon is all about carbs and salt. Half the meal was rice. 35% macaroni with mayo. 15% was entree, which could have been delicious were it not very salty. This meal was just under $16 for a cup of onions with mushroom bits and two pieces of broccoli. Disappointing. I had the Tuna last year and it was delicious. Worth every penny. This year I cannot say.

This is one of my favorite breweries I've visited. There is a small bar downstairs with the bigger taproom and rooftop deck upstairs. They had a great beer selection really appeals to all beer lovers, very laid back and friendly staff.

Patrons should be served with a happy demeanor.bartender was irritable and refused letting us taste a brew. We did wear masks. Got into mask conversation with another patron who was sitting a few tables away from ours.

Super cute spot for a nice beer, and food truck. Service was very nice, they are right next to the river, so the view was great. Will definitely stop by again next time we visit.

Visited twice during a recent trip to Bryson City. Great place to enjoy beer in flights or pints on the upper deck.
Second visit a couple were doing live music. Great addition to the outside experience.
Tasty beers available. Each night a food truck was parked adjacent to provide food which may be enjoyed inside.
Great beers and a great outside location overlooking the river.

My wife and I visited Mountain Layers Brewing Company on a weekend after hiking one of the "Road To Nowhere" trails. The beer is quite good and very satisfying. I had the Swain Pale Ale and found it to be excellent with smooth front end and nice finish with a good balance of hops and malt. I highly recommend this little brewery.

The roof top seating was awesome, I had one of their light beers. My husband doesn’t drink alcohol so he got a bottled Pepsi. It would be nice if they had a little more options for those people that don’t drink alcohol.
It was a very nice place to cool down and have a cold beer. Would definitely recommend checking this place out.

Definitely on our must stop every trip to Bryson list. Roof deck is great place to hang out. There is even a bbq truck out back. Friendly staff. Stay as long as you want. Best place to socialize in Bryson.
We stopped in after reading other reviews on a quiet Monday afternoon. Our bartender was super helpful with suggestions, questions and service! I can’t wait to go back and try more of the options.
