Corp Team Building Fun 😊

By David A |

Took 11 of our Team to Mystery Hill on October 7th.

We all LOVED it, and had an absolute blast.

The Mystery Hill staff was amazing, everyone from Joy who greeted us at the counter, to Ryan who made sure we were hitting the target(s) at the tomahawk throw.

MH is full of history, wonder, and enchantment.

Whether it's family fun or a Corporate event Mystery Hill has you covered.

We will be back again next year.

Thank you for everything,

Dave Albin

How strange . . .

By Stacey W |

I still can't figure out how this place works after numerous visits over the years with my own children. This one is for the little guys who are solid walkers. It is pure cheese but the kiddos can experience the unexplainable, learn some science, and play inside on a rainy mountain day. Well worth at least one visit . . . Even for the adults . . .

fun and wacky place to visit

By Summer B |

this is a fun little stop to go to. just see and experience some funny things. and a big store to shop in after.

Fun and Educational

By Brightorigin |

While visiting Blowing Rock for a ski vacation at Appalachian Mountain, I came across Mystery Hill. It is a throw back to old-school roadside attractions, and a great example of traditional Americana.
Mystery Hill was silly fun, and also a great way to get kids interested in the natural sciences. Clustered alongside Mystery Hill is a private collection Paleontology exhibit and a Native American arrowhead collection. These are very nostalgic in their presentation and are like stepping back to a simpler time. The crowning jewel (excuse the pun) is Doc Rocks gem mine. My kids had fun and actually found some big stones that were nice enough to be cut. Doc Rocks goes over the Rocks you find and gives an educational aspect to the fun of rock hounding. The presentation is unpretentious and a great value. Fun and education all together. Thank you to the family that keeps unique attractions available for our kids, so they will give the technology a break and check out the real world around them. I have fun finding new place to explore and live a good value, and sharing the info with others... hope you can check these out if you're near Blowing Rock. Cheers!

Great fun

Visited with the grands for the first time this summer. Cannot truly believe how awesome it is. You just must experience it to believe it.

Outdated

This would be fun for kids. Everything here is an optical illusion. There is nothing "strange" here. I have a magnetic field reader-- it's normal. The Vortex room simply just isn't level. The floor slants down 20 degrees. It only looks level. My phone has a level for taking better photos. I'll post some that is truly level so you can see the "mystery." Yep the floor goes downhill. Download a bubble level or angle app for your phone-- you'll see. . . Also, umm . . . Look at the building from the outside. It's slanted. . . . People say they feel weird in that room. It's because your inner ear and eyes are not sensing the same information-- so you feel dizzy or ill. It's the brains response to disorientation.

The other exhibits at Mystery Hill are dated and worn.

The museums are ok. Lots of arrowheads!

Overall, it's a steep price to pay for old optical illusions. With the amount of money they bring in, it should be way better.

But it was fun watching people who believe something is up with the gravity there.

Family trip to Mystery Hill.

By FellowTraveler824154 |

Our family vacationed in Boone NC and decided to visit Mystery Hill. We had a great time! It is a do not miss attraction for all ages.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

By BoondocksHydro |

We are pulling out of the parking lot now before I smack the manager !!! I was charged 130 something dollars for my family of 4. I bought the biggest package they offered, on the pamphlet they gave me said my package included the gem mining. All was great until we went to the gem mine at the end.. I was told that it’s no longer included! I politely said that is not what your pamphlet says. I went to the front counter and the lady tells me they haven’t had time to update the pamphlet.. I asked for a manager, and an older fella walks up.. at this time I’m still as calm as I can be and explain to him what has happened.. his response was well we just haven’t had time and that’s it. I asked for a refund or the gem mining to be added, he said no. As I was walking out I let a line of customers know that the pamphlet is incorrect so that they would not have disappointed kids like I did. Then the manager calls me a (dumb ass) in front of all the customers and KIDS!!! Not once did I use any profanity with anyone!! I really would like a call from a higher manager please!! I am beyond ticked off !! I usually give good reviews..

Fun roadside attraction!!

By Jason E |

Fun place to spend a little time. We had our 3 year old Daughter with us. She liked it but wanted out of the "gravity room" or what ever it is. We thought is was pretty cool. 3 year old liked the bubble room. I would have enjoyed more if I could have checked out the illusions a little better but she was ready to move on.

The Dionosaour/fossil museum was a hit with our little one. The staff was great. I did expect the museums to be a little larger but it was ok.

Checking out this anomaly

By Robert H |

This was very entertaining especially when it was only $12.00. They have high school kids taking you on a guided tour but when they finish up you are welcome to go back an explore on you own. When in the area where gravity exhibits this anomaly you will actually feel strange and it does take a while to fully recover. A great place for adults as well as kids.

A great place to visit.

By Becca |

Our kids loved this place! Admission is fairly priced and there is lots to look at and do. I would recommend this attraction to all age groups. We will be visiting again soon!

Mystery Hill is a must if you’re in Blowing Rock, NC

By Vince H |

Doing the whole package is a must!!! Worth every penny 4 hours of solid fun and activities. My family specially loved the Old Time Re-Creation Photos they do. So much fun.

Great find on our anniversary trip

By Ibmrsj2009 |

This was one of the highlights of our trip. Every person there was fantastic, great attitudes, professional, helpful and genuinely wanted to ensure we had a great time. Tomahawk throws were a blast and the guide was great explaining how I should adjust my stance which allowed me to actually hit the target multiple times. The young lady at the Gem mine was awesome as well, they really know their stuff! Our guide for the gravitational anomaly room was awesome, he did a great job explaining the history of everything and had an awesome attitude. Would definitely go again!

Mystery hill

By Brandy H |

We had a great time at mystery hill!! But the best was when we got our old pic made!!! The lady working taking the pic was so great!! Her name was Catherine!!! Thank you so much for a great time!!!!

Whoa pretty trippy place

By The GRAZfather |

The vortex room blew us away. This quirky tourist trap was a good time and we enjoyed it. I highly recommend that you stop here on your vacation.

Fun for all ages

By mariahbaxley |

My 5 year old son loved it and so did my husband and I. However, the gravity room made us adults dizzy.

Well worth a visit!!!

By MauiGregB |

I visited here over 30 years ago and really didn’t remember too much about it. I decided to take my wife and 2 kids (15 and 9) to see if it was as cool as the brochure makes it sound. The basic tour which is what we decided to do is about $12 for adults (they offer a AAA discount of 10%). The tour started out pretty corny but once we stepped into the Vortex room things got weird. We could definitely feel a weird feeling in the room and we spent about 15 minutes just doing some of the experiments in there. Once we left the Vortex room the next room had many neat exhibits some of which were geared toward younger kids and others towards teens. They allowed us to take our dog (an 8 lb Chiweenie) as long as we carried her while we were inside. The staff is very friendly and will answer all of your questions with great patience.

Awesome Mystery Hill visit

By Mindy M |

My kids and I enjoyed The Museum Native American and Dougherty House the best we loved looking at all the arrowheads and learning all about the couple that found them all. Terry was very friendly and told us all about the museum. If my kids had any questions she was happy to help. The guy upstairs Jacob was also very friendly and answered all the questions my kids had about the stuff. He didn’t mind all the questions. They both were the friendliest employee we met that day. Thank you Terry and Jacob for a wonderful visit.

Such a cool place.

By Lisa G |

So much fun for the family. Jordan made it extra fun for all. We all had a blast. So much to do. Love this place.

Check prices before you go!

By Goose007 |

We only wanted to go in the 1903 Dougherty House Museum. I had checked the prices online ahead of time for the "Build Your Own Adventure Package". When we got there they said it would cost DOUBLE what our online cart showed at checkout. ( I did not reserve online because we weren't sure what day we would be going there.) You don't HAVE TO buy tickets online as the website says "Tickets are only available for online reservation". This is just not truthful either. Many other people were walking up and buying tickets in person.
Others walked away after hearing the extremely high admission prices.
Such a shame this establishment has become a way overpriced attraction aka Tourist Trap. We had gone twice to the Gravity room (which IS very fun!) and saw some arrowheads and other exhibits in the same building as the gravity room several years ago and it only cost less than $10 per person. They even had paper coupons in local advertisements then. That was before they added more attractions to the site.

Update of note--they have since removed the House Tour ala carte option from the online reservation site! I have no idea if it is now even available in person or what the REAL price would be.

Tip: Know what it will cost you before you plan your trip so you won't be shocked and/or disappointed !

High priced small experience

By mikekimpics |

My wife and I were visiting Blowing Rock for her birthday. We decided to try Mystery Hill. High priced ($54) for two of us no children. Tour of old house was ok, opportunity to ride bucking bull machine, not interested at our age 60s. View indian arrowhead exhibit was interesting and gravity anomaly was interesting.. Quite a bit more expensive if you have kids.

Fun Memorable Time

By Ashley E |

If you want to do something outside the box, then this should be your first stop!! Absolutely fun and amazing. The gravity room really had us thinking and falling! lol It is easy to get dizzy in there, but that is beyond their control. I've never experienced anything like this, such a cool spot among the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. The arrowhead museum was astounding! The collection is one you'd just have to see for yourself! Thousands of them!! I'd go here again in a heartbeat, if we come up to Boone again

Awesome Family Fun!

By Sharon F |

My husband and I have been wanting to visit Mystery Hillfor a while and decided that March would be a great time, especially since there is a discount on admissions. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour! Our guide was friendly and informative. I highly recommend Mystery Hill for families with children. The children in our group LOVED it!

Affordable Fun Family Day

By Abi E |

Great family fun for all that went ages ranging from 4-45. Lots of activities involved with the visit and the Old Timey Photo was a wonderful vacation keepsake.

Your experience is what you make of it

By UDcc123 |

The experience really is what you make of it. Our tour guide was just awful. Soft spoken to where multiple people in the back asked him to speak up. He gave the impression he's given this tour 1000s of times before and was just going through the motions and checking the boxes with his statements.

That said, you definitely get whatever you put into the experience. Immediately upon the start of the tour, there's some trivia questions as you walk up the ramp. Take your time and look at the back of the signs to get the answers. Take your time in the main room. Everyone in our group pretty much left the room within about 5-10 minutes. We stuck around for another 10 minutes all on our own. Not only did this give us time to play around...it also cleared out the rooms that you go through afterwards (optical illusions, bubbles).

The dinosaur fossil museum and arrowhead museum that comes in your combo ticket were worth the 15 minute walkthrough. There's a good video in the arrowhead museum that talks about the process to purchase and display the arrowheads in the museum. And the upstairs area of the arrowhead museum has some nice old fashioned items (ask your kids to find the telephone!).

The tomahawk throwing area was fine. They also have archery for those that don't wish to throw tomahawks (hatchets). The worker there was very patient with both of my children.

We went with the basic combination package ($20 pp) mainly because my youngest didn't want to get dressed up for the old time photo. I gave them my 2 throws off the combo so they each had 3 throws instead of 2 for the tomahawks/archery. They were completely fine with the 3 throws/arrows they had.

Not sure if I'd recommend this as much for older people/couples...but for people with kids, it's a fun 2 hours and I'd recommend it.

Not worth it! Expensive & Place is run down!

By Sara S |

Very overpriced for what it is. The only worthwhile thing was the mystery room. (& that is good for about 5-10 min)
Everything else was a rip off. Place is in general, very run down. Would not recommend or return! Ax throwing was dangerous… Ax kept coming off handle! !

Very cool place!

By 172vanessa |

The brochure said it best... you just can't explain it, you need to just go! Our kids loved it, and honestly, very inexpensive! Our tour guide was great, and we did the old fashioned pictures, and our photographer was great too! Great rainy day place!

Awesome place to visit as well as stay!!!

By Rhonda B |

Awesome place! Awesome people! The room felt like home! Very cozy comfy!!! We will be coming back here to visit our next stay!!!

Super day with my son

By Norelys k |

It was a day of sharing with my 4 year old son. At first I thought he wouldn't like it but our attitude was to enjoy it and we had a great time. The place is nice you learn about gravity especially for the little ones. Super nice staff. Yes, the price per adult is high for the time you spend there. That would be my only point against it.

Absolutely wonderful for kids and adults!

By Stacey H |

This was our second visit to mystery Hill. Sooo much fun for kids and adults!! We laughed more than we have in a long time that day. Totally awesome. Next visit to the mountains : mystery Hill and booking one of their cabins! I can't wait! Truly one of the most fun places I have ever been to.

Great day at Mistery Hill

By Ary V |

We enjoyed the bull ride a lot, the tour was very informative and entertaining, the museum collection was impressive, the axe throwing was fun and the old pictures experience was great. Also, the gift shops have from beautiful
jewelry to fun and serious artifacts. The staff in this place is amazing, great people! I recommend this place!

Unexpected great time with young adults!

By Pam |

My family (young adult children now)
and I have visited the area for years and finally visited MH!! We bought the "pick 3" and had a great time. The "mystery" was a lot more mind bending than expected, ax throwing was so much fun and Gem mining was cute (but not the one to go to if you are serious about gem mining). And the best part was all of the employees were super nice and attentive. We had a great time!!

Vacation

By liusalbarez15 |

Mystery Hill is wonderful, we enjoyed this moment,is near the street and very easy to find it..we were in December and the weather was great šŸ‘šŸ»

Lots of FUN!

By Pathfinder310296 |

Mystery Hill was a great place to visit. There are so many things to see and do and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. Rachel was my tour guide and she really made the experience fun with her upbeat personality. I really enjoyed all of the museums and seeing so many neat artifacts. On my next visit I will definitely have to rent one of the cabins too. I highly recommend a visit here A++

Great fun if you are a willing participant

By ag032018 |

Fun family time! Don't overthink it, just enjoy and get into the spirit. Great on a rainy day, but get there early to avoid the crowds. We had the place to ourselves but saw mobs of people as we left. Museum not worth it, but comes with the price.

Waste of money, so disappointed

By Megan |

It’s a roadside tourist trap, a fun carnival-like place, but priced way too high. $20 per person for the base ticket added up to a lot of money for our family of 7, and it only kept our attention for under an hour. We wish we had spent that vacation money elsewhere. The rooms smell musty and mildewed, gave me a headache and I couldn’t wait to get out. It would be worthwhile for a fraction of the price, but at a minimum of $20 per person it’s definitely not worth it.

Good Family Fun!

By KevinC751 |

Similar to a Ripleys Believe it or not. A lot of fun for ages 16 and under. Gravity room was great and some of the exhibits were a lot of fun. Will fill about an hour of your time.

Very Enjoyable

By tsepeda16 |

Very friendly and fun. We really enjoyed it, especially, the Vortex room. March is "$ Days" where NC residents get in for $2 each. It's a very good deal and so worth it, even at regular price. Thank you !!

Booo!

By Jennifer P |

I was a little leary when we pulled up and should have followed my gut. Very disappointed. We paid 9 pp to go through the house. The "illusions" were pretty poorly done. The gravity room was neat but was about the only thing. Not worth the admission.

Not an Optical Illusion

By FSexton |

I was very sceptical and just knew it would be a bad optical illusion, but I was wrong. There is definitely something different there. We all agreed. The interior room has a sloped floor, but so does the hallway. The is some sort of magnetic pull on your body inside that room to the point it is hard to stand, and this does not exist in the hallway.

Worth a trip!

Mystery Hill

By Zeb C |

Cool place to visit. Everyone had a great time, especially the kids. It's priceing is reasonable and there are a couple of small musems on the property.

Mystery Hill a Hit

By Dennis K |

Great experience...very intriguing sights to see and experience. Jordan was an amazing guide. Hopefully you'll be fortunate to get him

Save your money

By Borden L |

Not much to this place. Even my kids thought it was underwhelming. Was further disappointed by confederate flag merchandise in gift shop.

kitschy

By grace m |

This isn't the most amazing place in the world, but it was pleasant. We spent a good ten minutes in the mystery room and got some great pictures, though I definitely wouldn't say the 8 of us got $70 worth of fun out of it. I feel like places like this with tacky gifts and cheesy tours aren't very prevalent anymore, so go while you can if that's the kind of thing you enjoy!

Excellent fun At a great price

By Aaron R |

My family and Inhas an amazing time at Mystery Hill. A must do in Boone and Blowing Rock. Excellent price and staff.

Loved It!

By Bill H |

If you don't enjoy this place you're in too bad a mood to enjoy anything. As senior citizens we loved it. Kids that were there were having a great time. Just watching the kids enjoy it was a great time. Plus, the museum was a surprise bonus. Authentic items on display that were professionally displayed and described. If you're into arrowheads there are more on display here than you'll ever see anywhere. There's more bang for the buck here then at most tourist stops.

Interesting Place

By Dave M |

This place is different. The only real attraction here is the vortex gravity room. Everything else is just tourist stop hokey-fluff.
I'm trying to figure out the mystery hill. As an engineer, I feel that the place is nothing more than fancy carpentry work coupled with an optical illusion. Just note the hallway floor compared to the vortex room.
This attraction will take about an hour.
The place offers a guided tour, but the guide disappeared as soon as we entered the vortex room. Maybe this is planned? Odd.

Please note- I'm not really sure I buy into the mystery hill phenomenon, but my wife who suffers frequently from vertigo felt sick for the rest of the day after visiting this place. There was no precautions offered before the tour.

Great visit

By Donald E |

Overall Great place. My kids had a great time. Our guide Tim was friendly and knowledgeable. We did the total experience. My kids enjoyed every part of it. Everything from the tour, throwing axes, And old time photos Would definitely go back.

Mountains 2017

By Michael D |

Cool place. Vortex room is pretty freaky and makes you feel a bit off. Decently priced as you can leave and comeback for the entire day. Wife and kids loved it.

Great time

By Aaron D |

Our second trip here and it never disappoints. Our tour guide Jordan was fantastic! And the guy running the tomahawk throwing was a blast to talk to also! This is our second trip trip to Boone and our whole family loves to come here!

fun with grandson

By Richard A |

Even though it rained the first day we had a terrific time my grandson wanted to attend here for 8 years he loved the hatchet throwing and panning for gold loved the leaning room overall a great time for the whole family

Good for small kids- we were adults

By 99cooks111 |

OK it is cute, but, hokey. I would not have selected stopping but you don't know my wife. She still thinks the road side stops are an American art form

Worth a visit!

By Elayna S |

A neat little attraction with lots to see and do. The Vortex room is the main attraction and it is really amazing. The Hall of Mysteries is fun as well and good for anyone who likes optical illusions or has even a passing interest in science. Definitely a place you should visit at least once!

Really unusual

By Brian B |

Our group of 5 comprised 1 active 50 year old, 2 active 66 year olds, and 2 curious 70+ folks and we all really enjoyed Mystery Hill. It all started with the very friendly, informative and funny clerk. But then it was off with the guide to the Vortex room..On the way we tried a variety of experiments to illustrate brain function in amusing ways but when we arrived at the "vortex room" that was a really unique sensation for all of us..While some reviewers have suggested optical illusion it is science at work..the science of vortex which had us all walking and leaning at various angles feeling extraordinary pressures at various angles and hanging on to rails. Quite extraordinary!! And while none of us had any after effects I can understand how that could affect some folks with vertigo. And then it was off to the house next door filled with Native American artifacts and history. Very low admission price and unique experience..

Way to expensive for what we got

By Deborah B |

The docent ..LOL... in the house we toured was not very talkative. She did offer to answer any questions but was definitely not into her job. For what we paid to tour the house it would have been nice to hear a little history. She did say it was moved from Boone and that all the furnishings were original. I asked those questions. So, if you tour just know you are on your own!!!
The house is very nice!
Thats all we toured!

Dinosaur History Museum Amazing

By Sheri196748 |

What an unexpected find! This hidden museum had a guided tour by a very knowledgeable young man that clearly loves history! The artifacts were amazing! and so much to see inside! Even a rare T-Rex skull and another even more rare T-Rex like dinosaur head comparison! Artifacts from other museums on display and he encouraged us to come back as they are always getting in new items! So reasonable to get in! Children under 4 are free and everyone else is $4.99! You cannot beat the price and don't miss out on such a hidden treasure!

Blew my mind!!!

By Traveling-a-little |

I have never felt this way until I enter the VORTEX Room!!! A strange way it makes you feel. Mother Nature can do anything!

A good visit

By ahumphries |

This was my son's only request on the whole trip. We had a great time and a good visit. The vortex room was our favorite. Make sure you visit the house next door to see the arrowheads!

Experience lived up to my expectation

By Shannon F |

One of the very few attractions in the area that are on the main road. You Almost have to stop and see it because of the name... for 15 bucks a person you are lead on a brief tour of a somewhat cheesy and David portion of the building that leads up to the tilted by gravity is claimed to not exist. Definitely fun for children, but primarily a ploy to generate more money from the visitors...all roads lead gift shop.

Great family fun

By Cheryl M |

Kids LOVED the gravity room. Teens and adults loved the axe throwing. Spent the day. Good mix of things for all ages.
Ryan at axe throwing was awesome! Taylor and Brook took great care of us for our photos!
Definitely recommend!

Family day trip

By Pogosue73 |

Absolutely love this place. Going back this year. Well worth the trip to Blowing Rock. The Gem mine, the coffee shop, and the museum all top off this worthwhile day trip.

Very interesting place

By Chrissti R |

I've been here before and love it..very interesting place that still blows my mind..and can make you dizzy lol. Very friendly staff and helpful.

Gem Mining

By DizzyD |

What fun it is always fun to look for hidden gems. We found a few here. I plan on polishing and adding to my gem base so beautiful these are we had a very good time here.

Believer after the visit!

By JimAimee |

Worth the money! Crazy feeling experiencing the affects of the Iron Virtex. The gift shop is full of wonderful treasures.
Thanks for the experience!

Amazing Service!

By Morgan M |

Jordan was amazing! Best tour guide of Mystery hill! Will definitely recommend him and this place!!!

Mind boggling

By Ellen M |

We stopped here since the weather was a little wet. This place is somewhat mind boggling - and Justin, our tour guide, was fun! We had multiple discussions about what caused the effect we felt - from vortex to optical illusion to magnetite in the earth below. Who knows? A fun place for kids and those young at heart. We left feeling a little out of whack!

Great fun!

By The Johns' |

Jordan was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about Mystery Hill and seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. Thanks for the good time Jordan!

Eh.. just okay..

By Monica C |

Just average. Like a ripleys believe it or not with less stuff. My kid did enjoy the vortex room. But thats about it..not worth the $30 we spent.

What a fabulous mystery to explore.

By ltower6869 |

What an amazing place! It has a vortex that scientists haven't been able to explain. It has a fun hands-on science museum. It has a coffeehouse. And lastly, it has one of the best gemstone mining places in the mountains, attached to a store that sells other great crystals, minerals, and gems. This is a must see stop for people of all ages.

The Gravitational Anomaly Was Great, But The Rest Not So Much

By JJRoperRollTide |

We were looking for something to do for a few hours during a very rainy, foggy, and cold day on our trip to the mountains last week. I read a lot of the reviews about Mystery Hill being a great rainy day destination and being ideally suited for young kids. We have two kids under 3, and we thought that it would be perfect for our almost 3 year old.

The Gravitational Anomaly/Mystery Hill part was cool. It entertained us as parents and our kids thought it was neat. Due to the fact that it's quite a small area, even if you really take your time you'll go through this part easily in 30 minutes or less.

The Dinosaurs/Fossil Museum has the potential to be fun. However, the tour guide on this day, Friday March 1st, should not be doing this job. He was quite rude with another couple on the Mystery Hill cards they had purchased and how those didn't cover the museum. The couple asked him to simply call down to ask the Mystery Hill office about it, and he said he didn't have their number and he couldn't help them. He told them to head back out in the rain and go figure it out with the ticket office. As he got ready to "tour" our family plus one other family, he said loudly, "Uhhgh, Tourists!" before starting our tour. The fossil area is super small, three small rooms, but it's quite interesting(especially to our little girl). We asked to be able to just walk through the rooms ourselves without the "tour", and he said that wasn't allowed. I understand the policy, it was just unfortunate that he was so rude about it(plus they have so many signs in the museum about not touching anything that you really don't need a guide with you every step of the way, just watch your kids). These signs about not touching (exhibits, security systems, etc.) are truly everywhere and one in particular contains a curse word, which is just not ok.

I agree with previous reviews that the Native American artifacts and the Dougherty House take about 5 minutes to go through. They really don't compare at all to the Mystery Hill part, and they won't grab small kids attention in any way.

The only ticket options that I've seen were the Combo, the Ultimate, and the Vortex. We purchased the Combo at $17.99 per adult. It's just not worth $18. Outside of the gravitational part, everything else isn't worth it. Perhaps y'all offer a ticket to buy just the Mystery Hill part without the Fossils, Native American Artifacts, etc. and your office folks just didn't offer it. I would buy just the Mystery Hill part, but the rest of it is not worth that much.

Tourist Trap

By Blowing Rock Local |

Don't waste your money. It's basically a shed with a crooked floor. It is way overpriced and a ridiculous tourist trap!!!

Very interesting and affordable

By foreverluvinthebeach |

My husband, our two teenage sons, and I visited Mystery Hill. It was interesting and affordable. Our sons were glad we stopped here.

Excellent

By paige_guss |

We had the most fun at mystery hill yesterday. I would highly recommend this to any person. It is well worth the drive and experience. It's a one of a kind trip

OK, but not worth going out of your way

By Matt L |

This place is the definition of a tourist trap, but I knew that going in, so this isn't the focus of my review. We have a 5-year-old and a 20-month old. The 5-year old liked the gravity room but the 20-month old just kept smacking into the wall. The bubbles at the end were a hit for both kids, but overall we were here less than 45 minutes. It might be better for slightly older kids (like 7-11) but I think teens would be bored silly.

COOL PLACE

By Jeff W |

I don't know what happens here but its COOL. This is a small attraction but its worth while, we come by every year.
Take the kids they will enjoy it.

A nice stop for the kids

By Mzsbach50 |

Mystery Hill is one of many vortices in the United States. The vortex room is not for those that suffer from vertigo or motion sickness. Entering the room nausea set in pretty quickly but it is amazing to see balls roll uphill, children sitting on a swing that moves without requiring them to kick, water flowing uphill, and brooms standing on end, as well as every person in the room leaning to maintain their balance. We proceeded to the Mystery Room with puzzles and mind games and then to our other favorite, the bubble room. Whether the igneous rock or something else is the cause is uncertain, but it sure was a lot of fun for the kiddos.

Great Experience!

By Allison P |

We ended up here on a rainy day with my 3 and almost 5 year old, we did the route and bubble museum and gem mining. Summer at the front was very helpful in her recommendations geared to my kiddos ages, and Carlos our guide was THE BEST!
I would def suggest going here and taking their advise on what to do!!

Fun but $$$$

By cardscharlotte |

We did purchase the ultimate combo ticket but considering the amount paid to the amount of time spent, it was definitely a tourist trap. While the kids had fun, it’s probably something to do when weather is not nice because there are a lot of other things to do outdoors that cost a lot less.

Cool experience

My wife and I stopped by on a weekend trip to Blowing Rock, enjoyed the "Mystery" would recommend to all ages. Our tour guide Jordan was awesome. If you are in the area stop by and check them out, you will enjoy it...

Loved Mystery Hill

By Judy S |

I was here as a young child and came back as an adult. This place has changed so much! The gravity thing is amazing - still the same, has not changed. The employees are so very friendly. Had a great time.

For kids and adults who like to act like kids

By Pat C |

I used my brother's children as an excuse to experience this fun and educational attraction. Very well done and a great place to visit regardless of the weather.

Saturday Outing

By Ashley A |

When you go in you pay for your admission and they give you a sticker(which you place on your shirt.) Then you wait in a room with other attendees for tour guide. He tells you about the origin of the establishment, he is very informative. He stays with you all the way to the vortex room. Which is absolutely insane. One of the coolest things I’ve ever encountered. Your paid admission includes a tour of the house across the parking lot. We, however, did not go through that part. Definitely worth a quick stop!

Interesting and Unique

By Lesa W |

Like a small Believe it Or Not location. We had a small history of the location, some puzzles and interesting facts and Vortex room (really cool). They also had a Bubble Room that was a lot of fun. Admission was $9 and included a visit to an early home and Natve American Artifacts.

Fun way to spend the afternoon

By melwashere81 |

We were looking for something to do after hiking all day and came across this place. Glad we did! It's a little pricey but you actually get to do a lot so I feel the price is worth it. It was $45 for the all inclusive package which includes the mysterious gravitational anomaly room, hands on science exhibits, the bubble room, 2 museums, axe throwing, bull riding, gem mining, and an old time photo session with one complimentary collage picture. Thats a lot for the price!

The gravitational anomaly room was crazy! We could barely stand up without holding onto the wall and made us both dizzy. It's something you definitely need to experience at least once. The hands on science exhibits are more for kids and so is the bubble room. The museums were interesting. There is the native American museum where one couple found thousands of arrow heads that are on display. The other museum is the replica of a house that the founders lived in complete with antique furnishings. Now to the fun stuff.....

The axe throwing was really fun! A lot harder than I thought it would be but I did hit the target once. The bull riding is a blow up attraction but trust me the landing is NOT that soft! The gem mining was fun but the building is small with limited spots so you may have to wait. Luckily it doesn't take that long to find your gems (you get to keep what you find which is a plus). The photo session was the best part. Although they were running behind and we had to wait 40 minutes to get started, we had a great time and ended up purchasing extra pictures! Honestly I don't think I'll come back. Not that we didn't have a great time but this is more of a one time thing. I do recommend a stop here though! Everyone needs to come at least once....and they do have a HUGE gift shop!

Great time for families!

By Jennifer K |

Wonderful experience at Mystery Hill. Brooke at Professor Finnegan's photos was great at posing us and working with my unhappy toddler. Taylor was super polite and friendly with helping us with our questions. The tour was great and the gravity room was unreal! My toddler did love playing with the bubbles. Ryan at Tomahawk Hill was great at explaing the rules and how to throw the axes. He even hung out and gave us tips on how to throw better and got my little one a foam tomahawk to play with. Great experience and a wonderful atmosphere for families!

Thought it would be cooler

By Bonnielt23 |

We had to see this. Saw the video on line. But this was pretty hokey. The slanted room was cool, but they really need to up date the optical illusions and other things. It was really kinda lame and I'm sad.

What fun my family had!!

By TScrappy |

The weather was raining and cold so we ventured off of our original plans and found this delightfully quirky attraction. The cost was a little high, but my family had fun nonetheless. Bull riding, axe throwing, gem mining and gravitational anomalies. What else could you ask for. :)

Visit to Mystery Mountain

By lstlinnie |

we Visited Mystery Mountain today and really enjoyed our visit. Our guide, Jordan, did an outside job was well knowledgeable and hung around to talk to us after. Thank you

Disappointed

By Robyn S |

The main attraction was definitely the "room". It was fascinating but other than that and overall, the experience was just "blah". Our "guide" literally seemed rushed once we got to the vortex room and literally ran out and we were left not even really understanding where to go next. I actually had questions about the attraction as I was fascinated and I couldn't even catch him before he ran away! The rest of the mystery house and museum seemed tacked on just so you wouldn't pay $9 just to stand in a room. Our experience didn't last long and overall seemed rushed, not sure if it was because late in the day and small group, even tho as it was 4 pm when I arrived, I was assured tickets are typically sold until 5pm and that we had plenty of time. I wanted to ask my questions to the person at the front desk since our guide disappeared, but I couldn't because she was on the phone so after lingering a few minutes we left. The museum next door was ok, but I didn't go to mystery hill to see a heritage history museum, but was assured repeatedly it was "part of the ticket fee" so we went, and it was ok. The rest of the mystery house just kind of smelled bad and wasn't that interesting, again just seemed like little things added in to the main attraction. After we left I pretty much felt like I paid $9 to stand in a room and get nausea.

Day out!

By Wylie C |

Awesome outing. Sara was great, energetic. Old time photo was more than I thought it to be! Enjoyed axe throwing!

Noice

By Hannah A |

Mystery Hill is cool but Jordan is 10/10. Worth it. There are also cool rocks and nachos, but seriously. Go for Jordan. I created an account just to tell you how cool he is.

Touristy

By morganrep |

The kids enjoyed it for an hour or so but it’s a very touristy kind of place.
Myself I was excited for the Native American artifacts only to find out it’s 98% arrowheads found mostly in North Carolina and Georgia.
When I rate it three stars I mean it’s OK. My suggestion is if you’re on a tight timeline and trying to jam it in, I wouldn’t.

Trip to Blowing Rock

By anselgreenwood001 |

While at Blowing Rock we visited Mystery Hill outside of Boone and Blowing Rock, NC. It was fun and to some extent educational. The people there were very friendly. The old homestead was interesting too; it gave you a good insight on how technology has changed and how people used to live. I think families who have children, this is a place worth stopping at.

Mystery Hill is more fun than I expected

By wtgahg |

Mystery Hill is definitely a tourist attraction, but has a lot of fun surprises and our family enjoyed it a great deal.

Lots of fun activities!

By pmkeys |

We had a great time, so many activities all in one place. Finnegans Old Time photos was so much fun, great keepsake photos, our photographer Becky was awesome.

Mystery hill North Carolina

By Lynn I |

The price was way too high. We got sick going into the vortex room definitely was not worth the money.

Unique Experience

By JessBostick |

The staff at Mystery Hill were great and you could tell they really enjoy what they are doing! The gravitational anomaly tour was super interesting and we enjoyed the museums as well.

So fun for us and the kids!

By CookseyMom |

We had a great afternoon visiting here. The Mystery Emporium was awesome...completely wild to go into the "vortex". Had a blast playing in the room that has the big gravitational anomaly. We purchased the "Choice" Bundle so also got to do Tomahawk throwing (very fun), the historic home tour (we enjoyed more than our kids), the fossil tour (interesting) and the gem mining (fun for everyone). Our kids are 13, 11, and 10 and they loved it. Highlight of the trip to them, and something different than all the hiking we were doing. Highly recommend!

Family Fun!!

By Shannon K |

Family fun with 2 teenage boys. We had a great time playing in the mystery house and enjoyed the other exhibits. The staff was very friendly and the axe throwing attendant coached the boys on how to throw bullseyes. We did the gem mining and got some really nice rocks. Again great family fun with awesome staff. We would recommend it.

Great way to spend a cold day!

By Melissa T |

Excellent place to spend a few hours! Our tour guide Jordan was excellent! It was our second trip and it definitely did not disappoint! The Vortex room is crazy!! Our kids loved it (14-15) Tomahawk throwing was tons of fun! Guy working that area was great as well! We enjoyed looking at the second largest collection of Native American arrowheads. Very fascinating place! Don’t forget to book a package that includes Old Time Photos our family had a blast and it’s a great way to take home a great memory!

Been coming for years

By lovetotrip12 |

We love this place it has so many mysterys too it and your tickets are good for all day you can come and go as you please !! The vortex is the strangest thing ever

TOTAL FRAUD

By airbag2011 |

it is similar to a fun house at a carnival. All the so called mystery is contrived. It is done with simple carpentry tricks.

Great Experience šŸ˜€

By Alex NC |

This is a great rainy day activity. Not everyone was practicing mask wearing but almost everyone wore them. I would recommend going on a week day or a Sunday if you can.

A great time

By Bobby B |

I liked the bull riding cause that was a first time experince for me there. Other than that the tour guide was really nice and informative as well

FUN SPOT but the rest needs work.

By Larry Jaason A |

Seems like a lot of money for what you get. The gravity area was amazing and fun but why did we need a tour guide to show us things that had nothing to do with the strange gravity forces and hen leave us in the gravity room and the rest of the museum? Most of the exhibits had nothing to do with the strange phenomenon AND SEEMED LIKE AFTER THOUGHT. If i owned this place that has such amazing properties i would get rid of the things that didn't match up which is all of it except the room and add more information and stories about vortexes and strange annomlies. I would even add local legends and strange bizarre exhibits to this mix. I really do not see what an outhouse and farm equipment has to do with a vortex or bubbles for that matter? They have a real gem of a phenomenon here and the room where gravity is defied is amazing the rest was like a flea market or something and NEEDS to be focused on strange happenings. I would have loved to learn more about the Continental divide and maybe even some cryptologist from THE AREA. this cool vortex is being misused and overpriced. I WANTED TO LOVE THIS PLACE but i did love the anti gravity part.

Interesting but over quick

By Harry & Tamaura Scheeler |

I've always wanted to visit one of these sites. It was really interesting. I felt very nauseated from the vortex pull. The tour does not last long at all. They walk you to a room where the phenomenon takes place and show you four demonstrations. Then let you try them out. There is also an area outside with another vortex. Then there is a small room with examples of optical illusions. Takes no more then 15 minutes. Okay for a one time visit just to say you did it. I don't see the point of returning. They advertise a AAA discount. It was $1 off one ticket only. Came to $48 for 5 people with the big discount.

Gimmicky but fun

By Richard B |

The premise of mystery gravity pull is a bit overdone with a room slanted and a ball that seems to roll uphill.

Fun times for all ages

By Vcm553 |

My girlfriend and I lived this experience. Great for the big kid and little kids alike. Awesome staff. Friendly guides.

I Now Believe

By Bigfish262 |

Wasn’t sure what to expect, initially thinking it was more of a tourist trap than anything else. I stand corrected, there is definitely something weird going on here, and it made for a very memorable visit. My advice is book your tickets in advance, or get there right when it opens…place was packed.

Our kids had such a great time..

By Rodney C |

Loved learning about the Vortex, loved experiencing the Vortex even more! They also had a great game and puzzle room that I found fascinating!
We will probably be back...

Vacation

By Raymond E |

Really neat place. Got to visit the arrow head museum and house. Really enjoyed it. Gravity room was amazing

Mystery Hill is as great fun for all ages!

By slrushing |

Jordan was a great guide with his southern drawl and charming laugh. Activities suitable for those who want to dig in and read or those who just want flit through the obvious such as the life size soap bubble. Extra bonus: Can go back all day long.

Good experience

By V vacation |

Better than expected. It’s a cool stop to see something unique that has some history. Jordan was our guide and was great explaining everything to our small group. We got there on the later side, but we’re able to do most of the activities.

Fun for everyone!

By Kristen V |

My husband and I took our 5 year old and 8 year old. We all really enjoyed it! Jordan was our tour guide and he was great! We also went to the dinosaur museum that's right there. It was small, but the guy working there was very knowledgeable and answered all of our kids' questions! It was a good way to spend a rainy, cold day.

Tourist trap

By Janet M |

I think everyone should stop here once but it was kind of corney. Maybe better for young kids. We did enjoy the hatchet throwing and the tour of the homestead of the founder of Applichan State College.

More than Meets the Eye!

By mountainview2015 |

Mystery Hill is an unusual experience. It's a "natural gravitational anomaly" that fascinates children. There are interesting things to see and do prior to reaching the gravitational room. Also some hands-on science things and bubbles that are fun for all. The Dinosaur and fossil museum next door is interesting especially with a guide. Also the Appalachian Heritage Museum and the Native American Artifacts Museum. Ages 6-12 would most enjoy mystery hill itself. Enjoy!

Yes yes yes!

By YoursTruly |

This place rose above expectations. From the vortex room, to bull riding, axe throwing, old time photos, gem mining… this place kept us busy with all these fun activities. Went with 9 and 11 yr old boys and grandma went too! Everyone enjoyed themselves! Highly recommend. Get there at open if you can.

An absolute tourist trap

By Vane A |

Some State Agency should protect the tourist and not allow places like these to do business at the expense of misleading advertising.
The trap is that they sell you a ticket at approx. $17 under the premise that this place is located in an area with mysterious gravitational conditions, and the reality is that everything is based on an ā€œingeniousā€ construction with visual effects that make you think they challenge gravity (that should be the business offer). In fact, construction is ingenious, but saying that it really defies gravity is an insult to human intelligence. Not to mention that the person who guides you, has no interest or motivation to explain in an understandable way the whole history of the place, it is as if they turned on a recorder that begins to speak without stopping and any emotion (now that I think about it , maybe she feels ashamed to underestimate customers).
Then you go to a children's playroom in decadence, not at all attractive, to finally end up in a "museum" even more disappointing, so disappointing that it is not worth it to spend more time describing it.
Ladies and Gentlemen, if you are on vacation in NC and want to invest your time and money efficiently, avoid this type of tourist traps, go skiing, go hiking which is free and beautiful and visit the beautiful towns around the area.

Quirky Mom and Pop Curiosity Museum

By Jennifer W |

Visited as our last stop attraction on our way out of town. Just as much fun as when I was a kid. Keep in mind this is a roadside attraction in a small mountain town so don't expect too much. The vortex room is fun and so is the bubble room. Not a lot has changed in 20 years which adds to the nostalgia and the quirkiness. The gift shop has a nice selection too for suviners. Friendly staff. Gem mine and coffee shop next door.

Fun place to visit with children, nice gift shop

By jwmcrazynurse |

We have visited Mystery Hill and really enjoyed it. It is basically a neat little fun house with a crazy "vortex" room where every thing is crazy illusions. It fun to walk around and play in the "vortex" room as well as the other optical illusion room and my daughters loved the "bubble" room. For the price of your tickets, you also get to visit 2 neat museums (not big but neat) if you like museums -> there is a native American museum and Appalachian history museum. We enjoyed all three attractions as well as the gift shop. Great honey in quart size jars at a great price !! Traveler tip -> look for the $1.00 off each ticket coupons that can be found in travel catalogs and hotels around the area. Recommend a visit here at least a time or two for the fun house if you have children. Suggestion for the owners => would you consider adding a "mirror maze" or "mirror escape room ?" That would add more fun to your already fun house :)

Fun for the whole family

By ncsmith84 |

We had so much fun visiting Blowing Rock and Mystery Hill with our kids, the two older ones being 2 + 5 years old. They laughed and laughed! Jordan, our tour guide made the experience fun and educational. There’s a place called The Mystery Spot in California also, where we are from...who knew? Ha! If you are in the area, please drop in with the kiddos.

My husband and I really enjoyed the fossil museum-the girl working there is studying to be a paleontologist, so she shared all her knowledge with us during the optional tour. So cool!

The Appalachian Heritage Museum was great, too. It was fascinating to see how they lived over a hundred years ago.

The staff were great and made each activity fun. We were a group of 7 with 1 child and there was something for everyone.

By Maggie B |

so much bang for your buck! Easy to get to and from different activities , helpful staff, and fun!!!

Fun!

By SweetieJr |

Kids and adults love this attraction. Fun for the entire family. Interesting museum tour included in ticket price.

Overpriced

By TB-27529 |

Wasn't sure what to expect. A few things to note before you go.
First, don't bother if you get vertigo. Wish I was warned of this upfront. The moment I stepped into the area that's 'different,' I immediately because nauseous.
Second, don't pay full price. Immediately after paying, I found Dollar off coupons in the shop as well as learned they have AAA discounts. Would have been nice to know a few minutes earlier.
Our tour guide went so fast you couldn't understand him. Disappeared half way through.
Anyhow, overall, my son liked it. Wife said it wasn't worth it, and my daughter and I became nauseated.
Probably spent a total of less than 30 minutes there and in the Native American museum.

Fun Wacky Shack, Mediocre Surrounding Attractions

By tumbleweedchris |

I love a good roadside attraction, so any mystery hole or hill will get a look from me. The NC version is a string of attractions that have tagged onto the original Mystery Hill attraction. The logo for this place is a person in a cage that is bouncing a ball into their crotch. I found this stranger than anything in the attraction. Anywho, there's a full size Denny's menu of ticket options, but you'd be probably better off sticking with the base combo price. For this, you get the Mystery Hill, The Hall of Mystery, Bubblerama, and the Native American Museum. The lead in to the one room mystery shack involves a tour guide, some signs, and a pair of animatronic feet. Once in the mystery shack, you can walk around, play with a ball that appears to go uphill, sit on a swing, and pour water uphill. If you've been in a similar attraction, you know what it's about, but it's still pretty fun. After that is The Hall Of Mystery. This is a small, well, hall that has a handful of optical illusions that you can pass through quickly. The Bubblerama is a room with a couple bubble wands and a larger bubble maker. Again, very small room that takes a couple minutes to do. The adjacent Native American Museum is primarily a boatload of arrowheads in display cases. Not much to read or see overall. The additional attractions seemed to have little appeal. There's tomahawk throwing if that is of interest, a small fossil museum, and a small house museum. There is gem mining, similar to what you can find in any other corner of these mountains. The Mystery Hill area is fun and the highlight, but everything else is just not very engaging. The owners should add on to the namesake attraction and create a longer fun house type attraction. Instead, you have a bunch of small and uninteresting attractions that try to add to the perceived value of the ticket, but fail to do so. It's expensive as a family, but maybe worth it for a couple people that like these sorts of roadside attractions.

definately a fun place

By Brittany P |

This is fun for all ages but I would recommend anyone with balance issues please hold onto the railing in the gravity room! The gravity room was fun but it does make you dizzy and I almost fell 2 times even though I was holding onto the rail, one lady actually did fall down (gently). by far the best part of it was the bubble room. My son loved standing inside a bubble, he said it made him feel like spongebob.
What a lot of people don't realize is that the Native American museum is included in the ticket to mystery hill and they are on the same property. The native American museum was probably the best feature of the entire property. There are so many arrow heads on display but I think the best part was the assortment of fish hooks. For the price of this attraction it's great. a little fun, education, and eccentric all rolled into one.

Fun for kids

By leafsfan927 |

We had a great time here. The axe throwing activity and dinosaur museum ranked highest for us. The gem mining was also fun. The vortex was slightly cheesy. Typical carnival type fare, but our seven year old lived it. Admission price seems somewhat high. Tour in the dinosaur museum was very informative.

Great attraction!

By Steven B |

A simple old roadside attraction that my kids absolutely love! The vortex room is great and good luck getting your little ones out of the bubble room.

It's like a trip back in time. You'll enjoy it. You can come/go all day long too!

Wow what a place

By LordChunky |

Dear All,

Was taken here by friends, have driven past before but this time i went in!
The tour started with an overview of the other vortices in the US.
The Vortex room is quite bizarre, walking Down against gravity!
Rolling balls uphill, and pouring water into an upward sloping pipe very weird.
Brilliant experience

Mystery Hill is a great place for people of all ages!!

By Mindy |

My husband and I stopped by Mystery Hill on our way through NC. We had a blast! Our tour guide went above and beyond his job. He told the stories with so much expression- it shows that he really enjoys his work and made it such a fun experience. I highly recommend.

Excellent time

By Jennifer C |

This was my and my boyfriend's 1st time visiting Mystery Hill ; we really enjoyed ourselves.
Our favorite part was dressing up & taking pictures. Catherine was so much fun!!!! She had us laughing so hard at ourselves. šŸ˜„
The gravity room was a BLAST!!!! I don't recall how many people I bumped into...šŸ˜„ The hall of mystery was interesting, especially "Lose your shadow".
That was our 1st time throwing the Tomahawks and knives. I didn't know how skilled I was...lol.
Our least favorite was the Indian Artifacts. Maybe if there was someone to explain some of the history about the Indians would help people to appreciate the artifacts.
Overall, we loved it and will return one day.

From Fossils to Arrowheads and strange gravity

By David K |

We visited this interesting Attraction in May of this year, while staying in down town Boone,N.C.One word motels are very affordable in May,Boone,N.C.makes a great central location on which to visit many great attractions.Just down the road is Blowing Rock where it is said a native woman saddened by her lover's death threw herself off the summit of Blowing Rock. Her lover's spirit and the help of the sky spirits lifted her back up and set her feet safely on the rock.If you have ever dug or searched for fossils or arrow heads or walking thru a farm house for the 1890's.This is a must see !! Two very large collections put together, some many different types and where they were found.Mystery Hill House has an amazing energy properties,my wife was rather shaken up for a day or two,I felt it too.Near where we live on Anastasia Island in St.Augustine,Fl.From the fifties to late seventies there was a Mystery house here strange things have happened here. Some call it gravity lay lines, back in 74,January we had a huge UFO pass over the innercoastal river.A security guard at the St.Augustine Trawlers and people coming back to their boat was dumbfounded by the sight. It stretched over to each side of that river.Right where our 312 bridge is today.See what forgotten things that visit to Mystery Hill helped me too remember, what will you remember ????

Vortex room fun

By Geoff E |

Had a great time visiting Mystery Hill. This was the first visit with my family. Kids loved it, especially the 8 yr old. He was sad to leave. Loved the Vortex room, we went through it twice. Spent a lot of time in the bubble room and the "science" area after the vortex. Interesting things to do and see. Fossil museum was small but neat and included with the basic ticket so definitely worth walking through, Was a rainy day on a holiday weekend so they were pretty busy. They requested to visit here again on our next trip up the mountain.

Touristy Fun

By Elizabeth D |

We went with our 11 year old and some family with younger kids. The kids loved the vortex room. There is a way around if you get motion sickness. Just be sure to ask because they didn’t mention it on our tour. Adults and kids enjoyed the gem mining. My daughter found her birthstone and we got that faceted.

Great fun!

By Misty E |

The gift shop is very nice. The vortex room is unique. The gravity made me very dizzy and nauseous. It took me a good 10 minutes just to step in there. The room didn't bother my Husband at all. We laughed a lot in there. The bubble room was so much fun. You get to stand inside a bubble. We made some really big bubbles. The museum was interesting. I do recommend this place. You have to experience it.

My family and I have visited Mystery Hill for as long as I can remember and it never gets old. We enjoy everything about it.. From the shopping to the fun & games & history throughout. I will definitely continue the tradition and take family trips there for years to come. Way to go Mystery Hill for many years of family fun!

Awesome

Great tour by Jordan. Thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely recommend to friends and family in the future.

Pre spring

By DMB |

So, the guided tour is a bit cheesy but even the 20 year old enjoyed herself. There was more here than just the hill. The museum of Indian artifacts was very cool! Again we missed some of the activities since we were there before the April opening but it was still worth it!

Interesting Place, fun for the Kids

By btoman |

We were there on a couples trip and thought we'd stop in. It would have been more fun if we had kids with us. I'm not sure that I believe in the whole "Mystery" of Mystery Hill, but it was entertaining. Be careful, the room will make you very dizzy and give you a headache or make your feel sick.

Family trip

By Sandy |

We enjoyed everything about our visit had a Great guide and lots of laughing with Jordan! Went with my daughter and son in law.

Great fun place.

By Linda F |

When I first saw this I was sure it was a bad idea, but I was so suprised. From the strange gravity, which was amazing, to the bubble room, which was fun and then on to the original 1900’s house and the amazing arrowhead collection- which was featured on Strange Inheritance, it was well worth the price of admission! Don’t pass on this one!

A must see attraction!

By happilyathome |

We visited Mystery Hill a couple years ago, and enjoyed it....then went back a few months ago again....and we were blown away! The place looks PHENOMENAL! The gift shop has soooo much updated merchandise, and reasonable prices! We purchased some great items to put away for Christmas gifts! Angie Underwood, who has taken over Merchandising for Mystery Hill, has found her calling......she is working HER magic on the place! If you haven't been, I urge you to go....and if you HAVE been there in the past.....do yourself a favor....revisit it when you are again in the area! You WON'T be sorry! ;)

Fun and interesting

By Lisa S |

This place has several attractions which is fun for all ages. The Vortex is fun and strange. The Native American exhibit of arrowheads is amazing and the dinosaur fossils and such are interesting. They also have Tomahawk throwing and Old Time Photos. Convenient to both Blowing Rock and Boone NC.

By AV73 |

Cute for kids but everything looked so worn out. Time for a fresh coat of paint. Some different displays etc. Kids really enjoyed it though.

A family tradition that’s fun for the whole family

By Flashintheband |

We visit Mystery Hill at least once a year. It’s fun for everyone of all ages. The hall of Mystery has neat games and then there’s the. bubble room. The tour is very interesting as to the history of the mystery. And going on the main room where gravity is defied is an awesome experience! There’s an included tour of the house next door with Native American artifacts. Because it’s Christmas time Mr and Mrs Claus were there too with cookies and hot chocolate. There’s also tomahawk throwing so much fun. And Front Porch eats the snack bar is really good serving food from North Carolina! It’s yummy and just like sitting and dining on a porch. If you haven’t visited Mystery Hill you need to put it on your to do list!!

Fun for kids

By Wing_anda_Prayer1210 |

Not a whole lot off which to base an attraction, but they "padded" it with some fun activities. Everything centers around visual perspective.

Cool place

By Carolyn G |

This place was pretty cool! The gravity room was weird! I didn't think it would mess me up like it did. BEWARE and hang on!! Tomahawk Throw was really fun!

Very Unique Place

By Delaney |

I was here over 50 years ago. I wanted to show my wife this place that I visited more than 50 years ago. Glad it is still around . These places create very good memories . Back in the day there were many places like this along roads. There arent many left. Thats to bad.
Now we will have to take the adult kids and grandkids.
Recommend stopping by just to check it out.
Nice gift shop also.

Shockingly 4 teens agreed this was a great time!

By Dre |

Two adults and 4 teens, boys and girls, (ages 13,13,14,16) had a great time at Mystery Hill. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the crowds put a damper on our other plans so this was a last minute decision. I would plan to spend about 3 hours there if you plan to do everything. All 4 teens agreed, shockingly, the gravity room was their fav but they found the bull riding amusing and enjoyed axe throwing as well. The old timey photos was booked up so if you want to do that I’d make a reservation earlier in day for it. It was a little pricey but everything is these days so I didn’t find it out of the ordinary.

Just Ok

By travelchic24 |

It's not worth going out of your way for but if you're passing by and you have young kids, it's something to do. The "tour guide" didn't offer any explanation of the exhibits and seemed like he didn't really care to be there. They could make this place more fun with a tour guide that makes it fun but for now it just gets an "Eh" in my book.

Great place.

By Shannon B |

Fun morning with our adult children and teens. Very Kitschy but worth the time. Jordan Justice was our amazing tour guide !!!

All of the staff members we encountered were very pleasant. Ryan, our tour guide, was especially thoughtful and patient with my special needs son, who really enjoyed the room with the gravitational anomaly! We just got the basic package pass and didn't see all of the museum offerings; but it was nice to know that our pass was good for the whole day and that we could have come back after we went to get lunch, if we wanted to. You con definitely stay longer and get more out of it than we did. It is a little pricey, but it is a unique experience.

Professor Finnegans old time photos

By Tanya B |

We had a large (17 people) multi-generational family including small children and were very happy with the patience and result of our session. Will definitely do this again when in the area.

Once in a Lifetime and Only Once

By MW |

The pros- nice gift shop area.

The cons- overpriced for what you get, the gravity anomaly is basically an extremely crooked room built to give the illusion that gravity is at work (could be ok for small children who believe this is true) however several people in our group could not tolerate it due to nausea, dizziness, etc., other activities are certainly geared toward younger children as well other than axe throwing which we were not able to do due to rain.

Overall, I would not visit again. We purchased tickets in advance which expedited check in however we booked two rounds at Tomahawk hill which was closed due to rain. We were not offered a refund or an option to switch activities, the only thing available to us was to come back another day. Overall, this is grossly overpriced but if you are ok with that for simply having the opportunity to visit a tourist trap then go for it. Otherwise I would say head to Foggy Mountain Gem Mine in Boone for gems and Elwood's Hatchet House also in Boone for great activities rain or shine.

Pet-friendly option for solo + dog travelers!

By annaxcamille |

My dog and I checked out Mystery Hill while in Blowing Rock and had a great time. The entire place is pet-friendly. My dog is very calm and well-behaved with great leash manners, but I could see how a more energetic dog may get a bit restless during the group tour. Determine your own pet's tolerance before taking them. I personally chose to stay at the back of the group and my dog was on a short leash next to me (50-lb dog) with no issues during the tour. The group moved smoothly through the tour. It is much quicker than the time states on their website, but once through the tour, you are free to enjoy the vortex room and bubble room on your own time. The vortex room really messes with your equilibrium, and you can feel it instantly, but there is an "escape route" hallway behind the room that is flat. My dog and I chose to stay in the entrance to the room and leave through the hallway just for his safety, but he tolerated it well and just braced his legs with no signs of distress or concern. He was more tolerant than most the people in the group!!! My dog and I also took the old time photos and LOVED it! Professor Finnegan's studio is just a few steps away from the main entrance and gift shop. She was so incredibly kind and patient with my dog and I! All in all, this is a great pet-friendly option for solo or group travelers. I did not do any activities that would have been unsafe for my dog to be around, or that did not interest me (axe throw, mechanical bull), but these were also options. We went for the very first tour of the day at 10:15 am on a Thursday and the guide was efficient, not super cheesy, and gave a lot of information about the story of Mystery Hill. Definitely worth checking out, and my dog gives it two paws up!

Change Your Body's Perspective

By Z6810YLnancym |

Fun to experience a change in perspective and see how it makes you feel! This can be the bases of a science discussion with kids about why you have the sensations you have.

Great to experience at least once

By lcdemar |

This was a quick stop that can easily last a few hours if you buy into all the extra activities on the property. (Such as old time photos, 3-4 more museums, and tomahawk throwing.) we were mostly interested in the mystery house tour, which would be much better in smaller groups. We were in a very large group with a lot of small children who talked over the guide and monopolized the entire gravitational anomaly area. There was barely room for us to experience the anomaly without constantly colliding with others. Recommend going early, before it gets too crowded to enjoy. This attraction can cause motion sickness (just by standing inside) so be prepared.

Mystery

By courtney f |

We finally gave this tourist attraction a try because the weather wouldn't allow our plans of hiking. The tour guide was awesome and the kids definitely learned a lot!! I will openly say that while the draw is the "mystery hill"; we spent A LOT of time in the bubble room.

Not much for the regular price

By RobinR-Nc |

If you are local, wait for Dollar Days and save about $10 per person. Worth a look when the price is reduced but not enough to warrant a $10+ entry fee.

Mystery Hill

By Sandra A |

A trip to Mystery Hill May not be fir those faint of heart or with medical problems. The gravational pull may be too much for those with blood pressure problems or other health issues. It is a fun and funny trip for children of all ages that are fit and active. My daughter loved it. She laughed herself to pieces. They have a nice gift shop too with reasonable prices.

Super neat!

By Da A |

It was fun, I’m sure glad we went. The vortex room and the other mysteries were...wow. Our whole family enjoyed it.

LOVED IT!!

By David A |

I know there are several of these type of energy fields all over the world. The story behind Mystery Hill is awesome, it really causes you to think and ask questions about our planet. This vortex is VERY strong so be prepared for that. This family owned and operated business is a real treasure and not to be missed if your visiting the High Country. Loved the Indian Head collection and the Dougherty House and the history behind that family and how it relates to App State University. Very kool experience!!

Mystery Hill

By Michael |

Found this gem while camping in the area. The tour guide, Jordan, was great with information that he shared enthusiastically. We loved the vortex room where balls and water ran uphill. We were amazed at the Indian artifacts in the museum. Highly recommend this as a must see when visiting Blowing Rock, NC.

LOVED

By Rose H |

My husband and I brought our three grandchildren ages 21 ,17 ,and 12 we absolutely loved all of it we paid I think $49 for the tickets apiece and we did the gravity room the bubble room they threw axes, they rode the bull,Got to see the rooms with all the arrowheads they got to mine for gems and we got our picture taken in old Time photos and they gave us plenty of photos we absolutely loved it all this is the whole reason we came to blowing rock was to come to mystery hill we were not disappointed

Great Time

By Sandra |

We had such a wonderful experience today! It was very busy with this holiday weekend but all of the staff was so helpful and friendly. The mystery house was really crazy and we were blown away by the platform. Our guide Rachel was very energetic and made the tour fun for everyone. I would highly recommend checking this place out.

So Much Fun!

By eal24601 |

The whole family had fun! The adults got a little queasy in the vortex room but the kids thought it was great!! Will go again if we're in the area.

Very Interesting visit, Partially guided tour... Kid will love it

By Jeff S |

We stopped here with the grandkids because I figured they would love the room with opposite gravitational pull. I was right. They played until I had to pull them away so we could continue the tour. The Mystery Hill is very intersting, a lot of science related things, the Gravitational Anomaly is the best. There are several other items that you tour through that are hands on. Once your done in that area you move onto to the house that holds the worlds second largest private Native American artifacts collection. After that you go and indulge into some Tomahawk throwing which was a lot of fun and not that easy. Depending on what package your purchased there is more to see, a dinosaur museum, gem mining. I suggest you go and enjoy it all.

Fun time - good to try once!

By Melanie P |

My kids aren't very little anymore (12 and 16), and we did take them when they were younger, but they wanted to go through again. I would compare this to a fun house with a tour guide. It's fun to try (get a coupon out of the visitor's guide to save a little $). The gift shoppe has some really nice items also!

Totally cheesy fun

By Friendbe |

Touristy cheesy fun for teens. A good way to spend the afternoon as long as you expect it will cost a small fortune and just take it for what it is. I didn’t expect much but we laughed our way thru it. Enjoyed the axe throwing and even the corny gem mining, but especially the bill riding! And my adult teens even agreed to old time photos. Overall a good time, people shouldn’t be so hard on these places.

Fun with family

By Heather J |

Nice location for a family outing. The main tour and mystery room was the highlight of our time there. We went on a Monday and there was very little traffic in the museum area. Our tour guide was very nice and full of information. We got him to ourselves and was able to get a lot of extra questions in. The price was a little high for what was offered but seeing how it was a vacation we did it. Something you wouldn't want to do over and over if going to the same location but neat adventure for an hour or so.

Jordan Helped Us Survive The Anomaly!

By James H |

Awesome tour and this anamoly thing is FOR REAL! EXCELLENT tour guide, Jordan! Loved the tomahawk throw.

Mystery Hill Employees work hard to make this an experience to remember.

By 664judyc |

The best thing about Mystery Hill is the service. Wesley and Bryan did their best to make our 3 days a fantastic time for our 11 year old grandson. All the workers at the site were friendly and flexible. Our grandson enjoyed every part of his trip from the bull ridng, gem mining and tomahawk throws. He had lots of individual instruction and some extra tries when bullriding. He was only able to last a few seconds on his first and second tries but was granted a few additional free rides. The pictures turned out great at Professor Finnegan's and one of us was allowed to attend our grandson during the dressing phase. The staff is aware that the experience is expensive but make every effort to provide opportunities for fun and success. We bought the Mon-Thursday package which allowed us to stretch our tickets out for the 3 days we were there. Be sure to ask for individual limits on each event such as two tries for the bull riding, how much time for the tomahawk, and how much weight for the gem mining as these vary from ticket type to ticket type. Be a good customer and you will be treated royally. The website says there is tubing on site. This was not true but you can bring your own tubes and walk to a spot on the river on the Mystery Hill trail to add an additional free experience to stretch your time and fun.

So silly and fun

By Shelby S |

Our tour guide Jordan was friendly and we had a great time! We loved the vortex and bubble rooms! Second time visiting and we will definitely come back.

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY

By Kelly A |

I am not one to write bad reviews but throwing 150$ away will make me do unexpected things. I wasn't actually expecting it to be a scientific anomaly but I was expecting more of a production, I can climb up a hill at home for free. The historic farmyard was 3 rabbits and five chickens, which are in cages and you don't get to interact with them. There was also other features in our package such as gem mining, old time portraits, axe throwing and bull riding. We didn't do the bull riding or portraits but our tiny bag of sand did have 3 or so stones in it and we enjoyed our 5 minutes of awe throwing. The museum is nice for people (like my husband) who are interested in Indian arrowheads and artifacts. For the kids the big finally was the milkshakes and, other than like everything else they were extremely overpriced, they were good. Needless to say we will never be returning.

Disappointed

By Traveling couple |

Over priced and a little run down. Maybe ok for young kids but not worth the admission money. Very disappointed, teens would be bored.

Adults and young teens, and we had an absolute blast!

By rchluth |

This was such a great time! We bought the ultimate ticket, so got to experience everything -- the weird gravity, the cool science/illusion rooms, the 1903 house, the native american artifacts, the tomahawk throwing (this guy was so patient with four ladies who have no skills), the old-time photo (shout out to awesome photography David!), the dinosaur & rocks museum (shout out to awesome tour guide Logan!), and the gem mining (wish I could remember her name!). All of the staff was wonderful. We had a great and weird time!

Great kids fun

By Compass792731 |

My wife and I went one afternoon for something to do. It was very interesting. The family that went through with us had kids and we got a kick out of the reactions of the kids. We kept meeting them in different areas and the kids were having a blast. We enjoyed going through the original house that is decorated in the late 1800s. I have never seen so many arrowheads in my life. The display is overwhelming. My wife enjoyed going through and looking at all the gemstones.

Fun visit

By Julestwo |

We had a good time visiting mystery hill. Walking into the room is an odd experience and one not easily explained. Watching the water flow up and the ball go uphill was weird!! Our kids were fascinated with trying to figure it out. The fossil museum is small, but interesting. It really is a neat little collection they have there. We did not have a lot of time to explore because we came at the end of the day. I believe if you purchase your ticket after 3:00, they allow you to come back to finish anything you did not get a chance to see. I believe adult tickets were $17 and kids 12 and under were $15. My kids were happy to visit and now want to visit some of the other sites around the US.

Fun expeirence

By Liz N |

Fun family outing with 11 year old son. We enjoyed watching the balls, which were the size of tennis balls roll up hill.

Excellent Tour

By Lassie |

My partner and I had an excellent time visiting Mystery Hill! Our tour guide, Rachel, was not only clearly knowledgeable about and invested in the attraction, she was also humorous and engaging. Our favorite parts were the gravity vortex and gem mining next door.

Awesome

By dnsmart2012 |

Went for my first time with my son. I think I had more fun than he did. Their was so much going on throughout the entire place you mind spins. We also visited the Native American museum next door. What an amazing place it was as well. Would recommend this place to anyone no matter the age

Fun for the kids

By Allie16 |

the kids really enjoyed the visit. The mystery house is a bit much for those of us with inner ear issues but they have it fixed so that if you cant handle the weird feeling, you can go around behind it and that was great. I could walk behind the house and the kids could enjoy going inside and doing the fun activities. Fun time and we will be back again!!!

Fun but pricey

By Rachel V |

We enjoyed Mystery Hill but I thought it was over priced, especially given so many items were add-ons.

Fun and educational

By Brightorigin |

Love this place... perfect combo of roadside nostalgia with education. Yes it's kitschy and that's why it's wonderful.... Americana at its best. This is what mountain vacations with kids are all about. Make sure to see the gemstone mining place and Native America Indian arrowhead collection exhibit that are next door.

Awesome fun

By Amy D |

Jordan was our guide and was awesome! So many things to do. Great museum tours and the gem mine was super cool. Great times.

Family Fun

By MDWmson |

Fun place for our whole family. We stopped in with three kids 8-10 yrs old. Needed some rainy day relief and Mystery Hill delivered. Thumbs up for a variety of activities, very nice staff and a great little snack shop.

Way more fun than I thought!

By Mary |

Super fun experience for kids and adults (we took an 11 year old). Jordan was our tour leader and he was wonderful! I was doubtful about the packages that included all the activities but they were surprisingly fun. We spent almost the whole day there and everything we did was great. Who knew I was a champion axe thrower? Grant in the old time photos was a gem. I always thought this was a tourist trap, but I’ve never laughed so hard (in the mystery house defying gravity). Well spent money.

If you have seen Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mtn, A gem Mine, & every other place to visit. Skip this and go home

By cdoc29 |

I remember as a teen going here with my mom 25 years ago and we had such a good time. Sadly this attraction has declined considerably since then. You go in knowing this is a kitschy type place and the guide story telling is what makes it worth it. Alas our guide sucked, we were rushed through the whole thing in about 10 minutes. The rest of the attraction is just as bad. If you have done everything else in the are you can possibly do and are on your 100th visit to the area don't be tempted by this place.

Strange phenomenon

By 504gayle |

This is a very strange place , water rinds upholl and balls roll up instead of down and you can lean over backwards and not fall over! Loved it

Fun

By jldp1 |

It's okay, it's good if you have kids, if you love science. Priced decent. My husband and I checked it out in October 2016.

Interesting

By rdmoody27 |

This is an interesting place to visit. The kids had a good time and prices are reasonable. Makes a good summer day activity.

Fun Fun Fun

By K W |

I have always loved this place as a kid. Our family trips use to be in Boone and Blowing Rock, NC. My children absolutely love this place.

It's a Mystery

By Gayle M |

This is a great place for families. Seeing objects defy gravity. Locally owned and run the Underwoods are a wonderful family. There are so many attractions to see here. From the hatchet throwing to gem mining.

Being able to feel like your going to fall is an awesome and scary feeling.

By pinky3138 |

My husband and granddaughters went.. The look on their faces at some of the stuff there was priceless. Especially where one that is the youngest appeared to be bigger than her older sister..lol

Family Fun!

By Wendy Whittenton |

Great place to visit and explore with you g and older kids! The adults enjoyed visiting here as well!

Overpriced

By Bella |

We spent $75 for the basic ticket for 4 people. Kept the kids entertained for about 30 minutes. $10 per person would be more appropriate for what you are getting.

Amazing!!

By Katie |

The experience was absolutely amazing and would definitely visit again when I'm around the area sometime again!!

Fun Place!

By B J |

We visited this place as kids and were fascinated. Still works as old folks but has some nice added attractions. The Gravity anomaly is such fun. Also Enjoyed the fossil museum. WE Had an extremely knowledgeable young man to answer our questions. Can't say enough good things about him. Across the lot, The Native American artifacts were very well displayed and there were lots and lots of them to see. The 1903 house was nice and had some cool features like a water powered fan. We skipped the tomahawk throw but it seemed to be the hot thing for kids.

Fun visit.

By sherryd57 |

Great for children and adults. Fun activities. Nice staff that do a good job with the tour. Good price.

Good for a short side trip

By IslandSquirrel |

It is an interesting place. It won't take long, but there is enough there to keep occupied for about an hour.
It's a great place if you are looking for something to kill a little time or need to take a break.
Like the other reviewers said - do not go into the mystery building if you suffer from vertigo.
Make sure you check out the upstairs of the little museum next door.

Okay

By Savannah |

Neat to see once. We probably won’t be back but it was interesting. Too expensive for the experience. But again, it was interesting.

Great day

By Tanya |

Staff are super helpful and friendly. Great place with a whole day of fun and activities. Good for teens and kiddos

Lots of Fun!

By Ellie Austin |

Had a great experience! Loved getting to see all the history in the museums and Dougherty house. The Vortex room was awesome. Our tour guide Alex was very well informed and entertaining. Would recommend.

Fun for whole family

By S. Lol |

This is a great way to spend some time playing with geographic anomalies and learning about nature & science. My son, age 11, and I had a great hour there exploring. Our two most favorite spots were the anomalous gravity room (not sure of the exact name) and the bubble room.

Must see destination

By Weirdo3 |

It was so cool to go to such a phenomenal destination. It was amazing to see such unusual accurences. Jordan Justice made the tour such an educational and interesting experience. Mystery hill is a must see location.

Kids like it..very touristy

By Nanskerdoodles |

If you have young kids, they will probably get a kick out of it. It is just an old-fashioned type "tourist trap".

Vortex

By Gluehuffer |

It's a vortex as you would expect. You'll really need to see if for yourself. Our guide was great. Gift shop and museums along with the attraction.

Rainy Day Visit

By Shannon4444 |

It was a rainy, winter day so we were looking for indoor things to do. We have driven by Mystery Hill numerous times and never stopped. It was a hoot! Of course you are paying for the one main attraction, but, it was so cool that it was worth it. You had to tear my family out of the room because they were having so much fun. Everyone that works there is super nice and friendly. We were glad that we finally payed a visit to Mystery Hill!

Awesome experience!

By Micheal Ann Holt |

Shane was a great tour guide! He talked with great energy and really understood what was mysterious about the area! We had so much fun, I would recommend it to anyone wanting to go out for the weekend as a family!

Mystery Hill Axe throwing

By Laura |

The entire mystery hill was a great experience. We took our 5 yr old bc it wasn’t great snow weather and the gravity room was so fun for him. Tons of other cool indoor experiences and then the axe throwing was the best. They have smaller/safe axes for kids as well as the real deal for adults. The staff was awesome too!

It really is a Mystery

By Coastal312604 |

If you enjoy challenges, brain games or even sci-fi, this is a great place to visit. The whole family will enjoy it. Don't leave North Carolina without taking a trip to Blowing Rock, NC and visiting the famous Mystery Hill. It's mind blowing

Awesome adventure

By pinetrees2018 |

Every time we vacation in Blowing Rock, my grandson begs to visit "Mystery Hill." It has awesome fun activities for all ages. Jordan was our guide, he made our tour fun and very educational.
After visiting Mystery Hill, make sure you visit the wonderful "Fossil and Dinosaur Museum," located there.

Great Visit

By C.A. |

Went to mystery hill and had a tour with Jordan, great tour even in the rain! Will come back for a fun outing in the future!

Awesome

By JMR |

Had a blast; the Vortex was awesome, and Jordan was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable of the local history.

Terrible waste of money

By firerunner1965 |

I think this is the first time I have ever given such a score. This place is a hot mess.

1) I am immune compromised and I believe in mask even before corvid, well we get our tickets (a lil over 50 bucks for two of us) and they call us into a room and low and behold, there are 10 to 15 of us in a little room and only 4 of us..had a mask. I almost left then. I should of left then and trusted my gut instinct

2) The so call guide. She stated she was not good a public speaking because she did not make eye contact, but she stated she knew her stuff about this place. Well eye contact is not what makes a speaker, it is having pride in your job and enthusiasm, it is taking an interest in the customer, it is not talking in monotones. If this is the BEST mystery hill can do..then they need to close their doors now.

3) I did not get to enjoy the vortex room, it messed with my neurological disease , which is nbot their fault but be aware if you are chronically ill, then you might not get to see the "main attraction".

4) The hall of Mystery, was outdated and dirty, no sanitizer to be had and the attractions looked like a child could have set them up.

5) Bubblerama - read above just felt dirty and out dated.

6) The native American museum and the Doughtery House museum. The Native American Museum consisted of what I think was thousands and thousands of arrow heads. Seriously you can only look at so many. The Upper floor was the house museum, this we actually enjoyed! Nice layout and some nice antiques.

7) They had some "wildlife" outside consisting of rabbits (3) and road island red chickens (hens)

8) You could toss a tomahawk if you bought that ticket (cost extra)

9) We went to get a soda and a pretzel, and they were out of both!

Overall for 50 plus dollars this was a TERRIBLE experience, from the no mask, to the lack of pride in their jobs, all of it..was terrible.

We will never return to this facility

Hilarious

By gkiser505 |

This is a very fun place to visit, it has some funky things and don’t
miss trying to keep your balance in the upside down room! So much fun and very reasonably priced admission.

Fun for the tourists!

By Jodi B |

So much to see here! Lots of illusions and the guide was awesome! (Wish we could remember his name?? Young guy, long hair :) with the patience of a saint(had a screaming child on our tour who was driving everyone crazy except the guide! ) We were 4 adults on a Fall road trip who wanted to see everything the area had to offer. We enjoyed this stop! The gift shop had lots to offer and the Native American & Appalachian museum(located in 1 house) was neat to explore and was included in your ticket price(very reasonable) . There was a gem mining shop on the grounds(decorated for Halloween and we even found a "finger" in our bucket we purchased!) You could also have old time photos taken in the gift shop. There was a little coffee shop where we purchased coffee, hot chocolate, and homemade baked goods. Overall it was a fun time!drbhw

Wholesome family fun

By Sarah T |

What fabulous, wholesome, family fun! It was great to do low-tech activities that involved and engaged the whole family. Even grumpy teenagers will have a great time. The staff was so welcoming and friendly--made for a great day in the mountains of WNC.

Great family fun

By Gigi M |

Our family reunion started at the gem mining at Mystery Hill. It exceeded our expectations! We had 27 people ranging from 7 months to 70’s. We used the inside mining area which was super nice and easier to keep toddlers safe. The kids really enjoyed breaking their Geo’s. Brittany Becky and Kate treated our big group like the most important visitors they had all week. We will come back

Ms.

By kim y |

We just wanted to give our tour guide Jordan a good review! Me and my boyfriend had such a good time, and we were very well informed on the history of mystery hill!

Family fun

By Alice B |

Great day with the family. This is a great family place to go the kids really enjoy the different activities and the room that is slanted, it has fun and exciting activities along with education and learning my kids always go every year

Your kids will like it

By Melissa P |

This place is a little cheesy and run down, but the kids had a blast. The vortex room was fun for everyone. The guide was just there, it would have been more fun with someone more enthusiastic. It was cool to see that many arrowheads in one place.

Such fun!

By Patricia R |

A bit dis-orienting, but so much fun! Mystery Hill has ā€œthe vortexā€ room where gravity is pulling in two directions, but also a bubble room, puzzle and mind teasers throughout, a Native American artifacts museum, a local historical house, a fossil museum (with a very knowledgeable and animated guide) and gem mining. You are able to come and go throughout the day, so we enjoyed the tour, went home, thought of things we’d like to have tried in the vortex room, and we able to go back and try them.

Second visit

By Geoff E |

My youngest requested we go to Mystery Hill again. We visited a year ago. Had a good time again. Bought the package that includes the Tomahawk throwing, that was a big hit. Went to the Appalachian Heritage Museum for the first time, very interesting. Collection was amazing! Would recommend. Tour Guide was kind of hard to understand but was okay.

Way better than expected

By Jay L |

$9 for adults but $1 off coupons in hotel flyers. Fun gift shop. Old time photos looked like fun but seemed way over priced so we passed on that. It starts with a guided tour of a couple of outdoor exhibits. When we finished that , I thought this was pretty lame. Then , we entered the tilted room and watched water and balls flow up hill. The room itself was really fun but a couple in our group had balance issues and had to withdraw. From there on, the exhibits were entertaining and educational. The big bubbles we a really big hit. Our group was 4 adults and two kids ages 2 & 4. When we finished, we were all laughing and exclaimed what a good time we had. A good time was had by all.

Costs too much

By Scott C |

It costs waaaaay too much. I went there for the first time in the '50s. Seriously. Cost us kids a quarter and we would spend all morning there. Then we took our kids, and then we took our grandkids. Of course the price had to go up over time but it went up way too much. We are done with Mystery Hill.

Best Day!!

By Cyndee B |

I haven't been since it was just the gravity room bldg, so so many years ago. I was keeping my grandkids & they had never been. They are 5 & 7yrs old, so we went. We got there about 11am & closed the place down! It was so much fun & it's arranged conveniently. We did it all & had so much fun! Pan for gold, old time photos, bull riding which the youngest backed out, I can't due to physical issues, so only one rode. But we shopped, had a snack, did gravity room, bubble room & shadow wall which were part of an extensive tour that included more, then off to throw axes! They weren't heavy or hard to throw. The girls got the hang of it & loved it! There was the Indian museum, the old house & feeding the chickens. Lol! A great way to spend the day and it's not that expensive if get the package deals. Photos are extra, but beautifully done. Consider it if going thru Blowing Rock, NC.

Fun for kids. Fossil museum is impressive.

By John |

I am not to crazy about the Mystery House. It is just an optical illusion, but they make up the mystery of the "vortex" to make it fun forthe kids.

There is a bubble room that kids will really enjoy.

You can get ticket packages. We got the basic package which included the mystery house, Native American artifact collection, Appalachian Heritage House (in the DD Doughtery House), Tomahawk throw, and the Fossil Museum.

Mystery house: mostly for kids entertainment

Native American artifact collection: Lots of projectile points, but not much in the way of description. Would be a plus if they had an intern from the anthropology department from the local university give tours/demonstrations.

Appalachian Heritage Museum: This is located in the first president of ASU's home. The home is not in it's original location. House was moved to the Mystery Hill area in about the late 1980s. The tour is only of the main floor. It is mostly self guided, but the interpreter was very good at answering any questions.

Tomahawk throw: Basic package includes two throws, but if it is slow, the staff will let you throw more.

Fossil Museum: This is by far the best part of the attraction, imho. Upstairs of Doc's Rocks next door to Mystery Hill. The collection is from the owner of Doc's Rocks. Really impressive collection of fossils and the two young men on staff where very knowledgeable and excited to tell us about the collection.

Fun stop off

By CeCeatl561 |

Not expensive and there is a $1 off coupon in the tourist books. Takes about an hour to do with kids but it’s a good hands on place for them to do some optical illusion type activities. As a bonus you get to see a little museum with Native American artifacts.

so much history, so much fun!!

By Madisyn Davis |

My family and I visited Mystery Hill on a rainy day. I could not believe I had never heard of it before. We enjoyed learning so much about the history of the establishment on the tour as well as enjoying the fun interactive features. Our tour guide was Jordan. He was such a fun guy and great at his job. He was energetic and funny and made the experience perfect for all of us. Best tour guide I have ever had at a museum!!!

The anomaly was a fun and unique activity, however the "tour guide" was self-deprecating about his weight and spoke way too fast in his gimmicky spiel. It was distracting from the experience, and it was hard to focus on the actual information they had set up on the walls for learning more about the attraction. In general, the mystery hill itself was a bit oversold and overpriced. Fun for kids and adults, but should not be $20/person. I appreciated what the goal of the attraction was, but overall it did not meet expectations with the hefty price and tour guide.

Interesting phenomenon.

By Natalie H |

Had no clue what this was when we showed up but enjoyed the short adventure that it is. It is a little pricey for what you have to experience, but it is surely wicked weird to experience. A feeling like no other!
Worth a stop in when in the area and out of other things to do.

Amazing Gift Shop and Attraction

By Family_Fun_Memeories |

We live 15 minutes from Mystery Hill. When people come from out of town to stay with us, we usually take them here. Our last group of friends loved the room with the vortex (as most friends do)! I was so impressed with the new merchandise in the gift shop and the reasonable prices! There have been a lot of improvements and updates to the property since our last visit. I will definitely be back to the gift shop to do some shopping.

Awesome Gravity anomaly ...highly recommend visitng

By BriteMornenStar S |

This place is Great!! The gravity abnormality was really impressive and mind-blowing. Immediately when you walk into the door, you can feel the change in Gravity. My only recommendation is to not enter on a full stomach. The change in gravity made me nauseous. aside from wanting to constantly grab a bucket to puke in, it was great!!!

Enjoyable Pit Stop

By bbk3e |

This is an experience worth trying out at least once. There are some spots where you are not quite sure how they pulled it off, but it was fun to suspend disbelief. There are also other activities outside of the main Mystery Hill experience like archery and axe throwing. It's nice that they have expanded the experience beyond just the main attraction - it diversifies the interest to a wider age range (in my opinion).

Wow.

By Topsail T |

We were totally freaked out here. My wife honestly could not believe the floors were level. There were lots of cool experiments to do for the kids. Must stop and check it out.

It was fun

By Joan H |

We enjoyed going thru the house and two museums. Not sure if there is a vortex on this property but the science behind some of the experiments were interesting. Definitely a place kids love.

Interesting place

By Kristen B |

Took an afternoon visit here and it was fun. The gravity room is really neat. My husband spent the entire time trying to figure out the "gimmick" . I don't know about a gimmick b/c I suffer from motion sickness and as soon as I went into the gravity room I began to experience the sickness. Had two 13 yo with us and they really enjoyed the experience. Would recommend for something entertaining to do.

Not entertaining

By mel |

We just thought it was a bit run down and "tired." Way over priced for what you get. Save your money for something better.

What a fun place

By jimmybrew1 |

Me and my family went up a couple weeks ago we had a blast.. the gentleman told us all about the history. And how they got started we had a very great time will be going back hope everyone can have this experience

Awesomeness

By Crystal B |

When I was very little my parents took me to mystery Hill and I enjoyed it, I'm 42 now and we decided to take a day trip and go! We arrived and had such an awesome time, the staff very friendly and knowledgeable, I couldn't have ask for a more exciting trip and yes my lil 5 year old had a blast and is asking all the time when were going back! I highly recommend visiting them you will not be sorry!!!!

Great family fun.

By Sam R |

I took my boys to visit and we all had a great time. Fun place to visit. We will be back again to vidit and have more fun.

Anomaly Tour

By Amber T |

It was pretty neat but seriously overpriced….. just for the anomaly tour it was $20 a piece. I wasn’t impressed for the money.

The introduction was somewhat interesting but you could read it online.

By Gayle G |

When you buy your tickets you should be told about the very limited refund policy. If you see the short introductory and then can’t experience the main event because the room causes you to throw up and not be able to stand up, without even crossing the threshold, you are not allowed any refund.

Excellent

By Jamiestaley77 |

We changed plans and went here instead of Tweetsie because of the rain. That was an excellent choice. We were afraid it would disappoint the kids but it surely didn’t. The actual mystery hill was educational and fun however I became very nauseous. I would truly make sure you have your bearings before entering. My husband and two small kids, age 2 and 7, LOVED it. So much so we went back the next day. The fossil museum was great because my children are well behaved but I would NOT recommend it for children that struggle to listen and stay still as there are many things that are not allowed to be touched and it would be easy for them to break something. The gift shop was also fun because it had really funny dinosaur shirts. Gem mining was great because it has an indoor and outdoor section so perfect when raining and Maria was extremely helpful when talking about our gems. She really held my kids attention. The museums were also fun and educational. The tomahawk throws were the best and worth the money. Even though I originally thought the price was high for all the attractions, I disagree now because my family had a great time and my kids wanted to go back the next day. The staff allowed us to go back through mystery hill and I’m so glad they did! I certainly recommend it for families!

Fun Tourist Trap!

By kgedert |

This was a fun stop on our visit. Our boys had fun running through the Vortex room and the gravity room. Never have we seen so many arrow heads in one space!

Jordan and Papa Squat

By Socksy |

This was a great visit for old high school comrades. Jordan was the BESTEST tour guide ever. Axe throwing was a lot of fun and laughter. And who couldn't enjoy the gem mining. Thanks to all.

Kitschy fun in Boone, NC

By Emily M |

Mystery Hill is a kitschy tourist attraction. It has shopping, several attractions, and a confession stand. Probably it's biggest flaw is that is really overpriced. The best part is the gravity room. It was a big hit with our kids. Making the whole thing more enjoyable was our tour guide Jordan. His enthusiasm and humor added a lot to the visit.

Interesting!

By Jennifer W |

Family enjoyed the mystery and puzzles. Doesn't take long to complete. 4 year old and 13 year old enjoyed. Price is reasonable, gift shop has wide range of prices on gifts for everyone. Was our second visit.

It's fun for one time

By daniel h |

My family went to mystery hill today and I can't say much or it will ruin the surprise, but for the money about $8 for an adult it's a good fun couple hours spent with the family for one trip. It's kind of a been there done that thing. Your admission also gets you into the Appalachian heritage museum next door.

Family trip

By Kenneth K |

If you paid for Mystery hill you got to see lots of native American artifacts next door. That were cool. The Vortex room in Mystery Hill made adults feel funny but grand kids liked. It was fun place for kids. If we did not have kids we would not go back.

Do the old photos!

By Anis S |

Amazing experience and worth the money! Fun little trip. Best and favorite thing ever is the photo shoot! Do the old times photo! Best experience ever and best souvenir you’ll get from there!! 100/100 recommend.

You decide

By 196LindaC |

Is this real or is it a hoax. You decide. But before you give it a try, decide if it is worth the exorbitant rate that is charged for each attraction.

Great family fun!

By Marsha's M |

Our whole family had a blast with the variety of activities available. We all enjoyed the guided tour and the mystery room brought a lot of laughs as we were all trying to find our footing. The old timey photos were awesome! The photographer was friendly and helpful which made the whole experience a fun one with lasting memories. The museum is a quick walk through history and the bull riding and tomahawk throwing bring you back to modern fun. Two thumbs up!

Great tour!

By Djsteadman |

We had a great tour by Jordan! Very interesting and informative. Would definitely recommend to friends!

Great for small kids!

By Catherine H |

A friendly tour guide takes you through the building, showing you a series of optical illusions. My husband and I went, as we usually like unique, fun things like this, but this is definitely for younger children. There were a few hallways and rooms with clever riddles/facts, the vortex room (which is a building built on a slant), and a small room with other child games/activities. I definitely suggest going if you have children under the age of 9!! Otherwise, this is a pass for us. Luckily it was only $9 a person!

Great memory making experience!

By Rumsey919 |

I will say...we had pretty low expectations (because we've done activities like this before) BUT WOW was it so much fun. We got the middle of the road package which included the Mystery Hill house tour, axe throwing, bull riding, gem mining and old time pictures. It easily filled most of our afternoon and we all found something super enjoyable (I loved the axe throwing - my 8 year old daughter loved walking through the gravity defying house - and my mom loved the optical illusions and bubble room).

I have always wanted to do old timey photos and Professor Finnegan's didn't disappoint! We had so much fun with our photographer and the pictures were wonderful. Such a fun mother daughter time spent making memories.

Good time passer

By livelife h |

The gravity house was cool. The bubble room was ok a little small. They have a Indian museum and bull riding. If you get the ultimate ticket you get axe throwing and old tyme photos

Really neat and unique

By scout2671 |

We’ve been going here every few years since our kids were little. It is still a fun and unique thing to do. Jordan was our tour guide this time and he was informative and funny. Don’t miss this when you are in the Boone/Blowing Rock area!

The kids will enjoy it

By Brian S |

I went to mystery Hill close to 35 years ago when I was a kid. I was not at all impressed and never desired to go back. My oldest son really wanted to go so we went recently. I've got to say that I was impressed with the improvements that have been made. It was a lot of fun for all of us. Don't forget to see the museum as well, while your there.

Mystery Hill

By makemyownway1 |

We loved the place. The people were nice and it was a lot of fun. I’m glad we went there, when we go that way again we’ll stop back by. We recommend going. šŸ‘

Unusual

Opposite gravitational pull... walking sideways... water running up.. your shadow leaves you.. a crazy phenomenon. Great for kids. Great arrowhead collection. Just a neat place to stop

An incredible day

By Luke Waters |

Myself and my girlfriend found this place by chance and were not disappointed, we started off with a wonderful tour and talked about the sites history, when we arrived I didn't think that the gravity anomaly could even be possible, I was a huge sceptic and was blown away, seeing is believing and this was fantastic!

Afterwards we visited the native American museum, thousands of years of native craftsman ship on display and followed by some tomahawk throwing, with an excellent coach to guide you.

Next we went to the dinosaur museum, the guides had a wealth of knowledge and the artifacts were stunning, they really give you an idea of the scale of the beasts that walked the earth long before us.

And finally we went gem mining and had a great laugh, they let us choose our bucket and told us how to do it and when we were finished they sat down with us and explained what we had found, including some amazing fossils, quartz and even 5 rubies!

If you're thinking about going, just go! You will have a wonderful time and will not regret a thing!

Fun and quirky place!

By Ashleigh M |

My husband and I stumbled upon this when looking for things to do on a rainy day! We thought it would be a little childish but it was kind of interesting to solve the riddles and other odd things displayed. The vortex room was funny and the bubbles were a good time. Short but relatively cheap and tickets let you see another museum!

Vacation

By avenger20 |

This a place to take the kids for a while for their entertainment. Very pleasant employee. Very interesting things.

OK I guess

By laura g |

I wasn't overly impressed but this is a good place to bring the kids. The vortex room made me instantly sick to my stomach, but it had some other cute activities good for a family. This would probably be a good rainy day think to do. Ticket prices are cheap.

Fun and interesting museum in Blowing Rock.

By RDU-Yankee |

As seen on TV, a great place to stop with kids. Even adults will enjoy the various mysteries and phenomenon to be experienced. There are guided tours and don't miss the American Indian Heritage museum which can be added as part of your tour.

Okay for one visit

By Stacia H |

A rainy day ruined our outdoor hikes, so we tried out Mystery Hill. My son liked the house and the bubbles. The rest of the place is just a modge podge of okay, but for the price I wouldn’t go again. Everyone was friendly.

Nice attraction

By Carly B |

The gravity room was the most fun. We purchased the basic package, so we did not do the gem mining or axe throwing. It definitely is a touristy type of place. We had run out of things to do, so we decided to kill time by visiting. The daughtery house and arrowhead museum were a little boring. Bull riding was fun, but that is something you could do anywhere. If you have time to kill it's worth a visit, I just wouldn't put it on your must do list.

Funny and historical

By CatherineB882 |

My family has been coming here for years, although my children are grown they still enjoy coming here for the Vortex room. The staff gives a great informative guide and then you can explore on your own. Great family experience.

Best for families not adult solos

By Amy H |

The ultimate ticket is definitely worth purchasing if you come here, because you get to do a small bucket in Docs Rocks gem mining plus an old time photo. The photo was fantastic because they took single shots and a family shot, gave prints for each paid ticket, AND gave a digital download link included. This would usually cost much more purchased individually somewhere else. Docs gem mine was nice but definitely not as much of a stand alone experience as Foggy Rock, because as soon as you put the sand in the sifter, the treasure appears. At foggy, kids can actually sift manually through gravel to find the treasure. The fossil museum was cool but small. The tour guide was nice. I was a little concerned about the babies in the stroller touching the arsenic labeled fossils, it was a little difficult to keep them away because of a narrow walkway. Everyone was very accommodating of the stroller, but I think a wheelchair might be difficult. The native American museum was really beautiful. Kids of course had a blast in the bubble room and vortex room. It was definitely worth a visit if you have a few hours, but I can't say I'd be anxious to return. Kind of a one time experience. Oh and the staff were all super friendly and nice.

Simple but good!

By ellyn1970 |

This isn't on the level of Ripley's by any means, but it was fun and my son enjoyed it! Upstairs in the house next door was neat...very historical.

Great rainy day activity

By Anne and BobJ |

We had a great time at Mystery Hill. I definitely want to go back with my older grandchildren. I thought the guy leading the tour was a bit over the top with how he portrayed everything, but we still had a good time. Still can figure out how it is all done, yes I have read information online, but it was still very weird the way you feel when you get in the main room.

Mystery Hill

By neilsenja |

Mystery Hill was wonderful & our tour guide, Jordan, was great & enthusiastic! He told us lots about the place & made the tour all the more exciting.

best customer service

By Doug P |

the crew at mysterhill was the best customer service I have ever had on a weekend getway. Blaze and the crew at the gem mine was the greatest they really made us feel welcomed and they knew their job and they was very knowledgeable at what they was trained.I highly recommend this place and I will go back

Kids will like

By sutler4 |

We just did the anomaly. It was a pretty cool experience, but a bit hokey. Kids will love the mystery of it all. Definitely do not go in if you ever suffer with vertigo type issues. I did have a nauseous feeling headache for a while after. I guess it’s worth taking the kids for something to when tthey get bored!

Great for the Gullible and Little Kids - A Little Overpriced for What You Get

By Jenn B |

I tend to be fairly gullible so I was sucked right into the story they tell you about this place when you enter, and when you are on the "tour." The guides/employees are definitely well trained at telling you the "history" of the place in a way that makes it feel like you are visiting an actual historical place with a strange anomaly that only exists in a few places around the country. I had visited those illusion houses that put everything on an angle and make you feel like you're standing at an angle as a kid but knew they were an illusion. It wasn't until after we did the tour here that I realized it's ultimately great story telling and not anything mysterious. I strongly recommend making sure your kids know it's all for fun so they don't go telling their friends and teachers about a place in NC where gravity doesn't work like it should.

Other than the unfortunate realization that I had been duped, this place is very cute and has a lot of fun activities. My biggest complaint really is, if you buy the package that gets you access to everything, including paying for the old time photo packages, be prepared to sit around and waste some time. There is only one room and photographer taking the photos and they spend a LOT of time with each group (in addition to the time it takes for the people to pick clothes and change into them). They'll tell you that you have a reservation for a specific time but, in our experience, they weren't anywhere near ready for us. We arrived 5 minutes before our "reservation" and the place was packed. We checked in while another family was in getting their photos taken. We finally left after waiting 30 minutes and that group still being in the photo room, along with about 20 people in the waiting area. We were told we could just come back and we'd be in the system to get our photos any time so we will see, if when we do return to the area, how things go.

Of everything on the property, we definitely enjoyed the axe throwing the most. My son basically found a new hobby and has asked that I get him involved in it locally as soon as possible. Alas, it began to rain about 20 minutes into our hour so we had to stop early (safety reason).

Overall, if you're up for some ridiculous fun, I'd say this place is worth a stop but, think carefully about what you'd like to do rather than being sucked into the packages that include everything. We paid $112 for the two of us and really, our experience didn't net us feeling like we'd got our monies worth. Really young kiddos will love the handful of silly things to play with after the "tour" but beyond that, if we go back, it'll be to claim our photos we never got, and do the axe throwing only.

So much to see and do!!

By Amber L |

We bought the combo package and it was so worth it! We enjoyed everything this place has to offer. Kids didn't want to leave! The adults enjoyed the history and the attractions as well. The tour guide was Awesome!! We had packed a lunch and ate at one the several picnic tables provided. After the tour was over you are free to go back through as many times as you like throughout the day. I highly recommend visiting here at least once.

Odd and unusual, no explantion

By Crystal W |

This place is astonishing! It’s an unexplained phenomenon! The kids enjoyed it. If you get dizzy or motion sickness the vortex room is not for you! The gravitational pull is strong and unusual to say the least! I’ve never seen anything like it! It’s definitely out there!

Fun and unique.

By jgwisdom |

We stopped by and took the tour and enjoyed it. Really a mind boggling kind of thing, the gravitational anomaly. It was just us older folks, so no kids with us, but I can see how my grandkids would love this place. Worth a stop for a couple of hours. We were there for 1.5 hours just reading the info around the walls, etc.

Kids loved it!

By Stahlko |

My kids could not have been more thrilled with this experience. It didn't take very long and they talked about their experience all day! However, be warned. I am very prone to getting dizzy and the anti-gravity room make me feel sick all day long. In the end, I'm glad we went and the bubble room was amazing!

Childhood dream...realized...

By mf0ster17 |

Every summer, my mom's family got together in the Boone area for a weekend. And we would drive by this place and I would beg to go.
Fast forward...now I'm 40 and the husband and I went to Boone as adults. When we drove by Mystery Hill, I told him I'd always wanted to go there as a kid, but never got to. He said, "Well, let's go." We made a u-turn and pulled in.
For $12 a piece, we got to go on a "tour" of the "vortex." The room where all the "anomalies" are housed is pretty cool. There were about 15 people with us. Since we were unaccompanied by any children, we tried everything last...before we even got to everything, the next group was coming in.
Honestly, the room did feel weird and I'm not 100% sure how the optical illusions operated, so there's some mystery. I'm glad I got to go. But I wouldn't go back. Unless my child begs me.

A cute family experience

By Lisa M |

A friendly tour guide takes you through a series of optical illusions on Mystery Hill. You end with a vortex room, which some of our group found disorienting. The smaller kids liked it, though and had a great time with a "water that flows up hill" spout.

Great place to visit

By renees1973 |

We really enjoyed our visit. Our 7 year old daughter loved it. She enjoyed the gravity room and all of the other activities. All of the staff were really nice and helpful. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Mystery Hill

This is a see for children and adults both! We had an absolute blast! This is also a very educational trip for children of all ages!

Happy family, kid and dog slept all the way home.

By Scott M |

My family visited last Sunday and had an amazing time! We did the entire package deal. It was a long drive from Asheville but well worth it! We were even able to bring the dog which was awesome. The staff gets five stars. We were treated like royalty. You can tell they are genuinely enjoying what they do. We spent about 4 hours there in total. I would definitely go back. Our tour guide for the anomaly James was a natural. Even though we were the only ones getting a tour he certainly brought 100%. He was entertaining, informative and kind. My daughter (10) even told him after that it was the first time she's ever seen an educational speech be entertaining. Every member of the staff made us feel like they were there just for us. Well done Mystery Hill!! Thank you.

Kids Loved It!

By 797colleens |

My kids (7 & 10) loved it. It was perfect for a rainy day activity. It was a little pricey, but with how much my kids loved it, it was worth it. After we did the museum we drank the cafes milkshake while the kids played the giant games. The milkshake was AMAZING, don't skip that part:)

Kids will enjoy, adults...well

By Zep_58 |

A true 1950s tourist attraction. The kids have great time with the visual illusions and activities. The adults will soon recognize the illusions used in creating the attractions. The staff is very courteous and eager to make the visit memorable for the children in the group.

Interesting

By Vera A |

This was a fun little stop on our travels in N.C. The illusion gravity room was terrific and really threw us off balance. It is an all day admission for reasonable price which includes the mystery room, bubble room and two small museum areas. More geared to young kids and I can see how teens may be bored but we loved it! The only thing we didn't love was the tour it felt like it was an afterthought and a bit rushed, but that may be because we were a small group with small fidgety kids.

Mountain visit

By Rosepriceduke |

Very friendly people.Had a great time.Loved old timey photos that were included in price and the gem mineing also.

Entertaining but a bit pricey

By CoastalCode |

It’s entertaining…but pricey… our minds are still blown but it was fun to watch the kids (at kids at heart) tumble around walking sideways! We’ve never experienced anything like it, but for those on a budget you might want to consider this a lower priority event.

I loved this place

By Ivy E |

This place is simple but lots of fun..I was visiting up in that area with a boyfriend and his 10 year old daughter..it was a great time and great bonding experience with his little girl..I am not with him anymore but I miss my littl jessy..I'm glad we had this weekend..

Exploring the area

By Our America |

This was by far the goofiest experience. But it was fun fun fun. We laughed so hard. Amazing how once you step inside the room, you immediately feel the gravitational pull. I experienced a brief moment of vertigo once I stepped inside the room. After it passed, I was able to enjoy the rest of the experience. Highly recommend a visit to Mystery Hill. You just have to ā€œfeel it to believe itā€

A little expensive for the time there

By Cre8tivemaw |

We did the short tour, which lasted less than an hour for $13.00. It's interesting but when you have young ones who are excited they tend to run through the exhibits.

Jordan is a great tour guide’

By cdaley |

I’m sure it would be fun with any guide but Jordan added a special touch! He was excited to give you the ā€œexperienceā€ of mystery hill! His accent just added to the fun!

Fun activity

By UberJ327 |

We visited with two smaller grandchildren and did the anomaly tour only. Was a fun experience and the grandkids got a kick out of it. The bubble room was a hit with them as well as some of the optical illusions.
