We visited Molokai in January of 2008. We were lucky to meet Walter Naki (808-558-8184) at the local restaurant. He gives small tours of the Pali Coast from his boat. Calm seas were expected the next day and he already had one couple interested in his boat tour and asked if we would like to go too. We are so glad we went. Walter treated us like old friends. He knows everything there is to know about the area and is happy to share that. The scenery is jaw-dropping. Walter and his friends were really wonderful to meet; they left quite an impression on us and helped us to really experience being there. We also took the trail down to Kalaupapa. (We didn't do the mule ride; we hiked.) Kalaupapa is an unforgettable place. These were two of our most memorable travel experiences ever.

The Na Pali Coast is a MUST see if you end up on the island of KAUAI!! Whether you take a canoe trip, a raft trip, or a boat/catamaran this part of the coastline is absolutely gorgeous. There are many beaches to visit as well, and some great hikes! You must research and find what works best for you, just don't miss out on the experience!

The rugged terrain appears much as it did centuries ago when Hawaiian settlements flourished in these deep, narrow valleys, existing only on the food they could grow and the fish they could catch.

The safest access and best way to explore the Napali Coast is by sea or by air. During summer months, guided kayaking trips bring you up close to soaring cathedral cliff. When conditions are right, raft tours are available to guide you to hidden sea caves and remote beaches.

The northern side of Molokai has the highest ocean cliffs in the world. Some as high as 4,000 feet. The views from the outlook are incredible.....breathtaking. Beautiful.

I always love choices that are conclusive in their resolve to give a mega pulse to an experience. Here there are two choices for reaching the remote, kilometre-long Kalakaua Beach on Kauai's stunning coast. WE have all done the hiking path, taking the riguers in our stride while traversing weather-beaten volcanic slopes that plunge towards the turquoise waters of the Pacific.
This time is by sea kayak, braving woolly seas as our guides provided the necessary propulsion towards a secluded beach framed by tropical greenery and waterfalls. AS we enjoyed the panorama i couldn't help thinking as i sighted the helicopters doing a scenic 60-minute flight over Hawaii's garden Isle.. So now ther are three ways to do this experience.

Google Walter Naki and reserve a Moloka'i Pali coast boat ride and fishing trip - (the water was too high the day we went, but he will also show you how snorkeling is done, on a calmer day - he is the best around all-hawai'i) The cliffs are staggering, the waterfalls
blow you away. Walter is the man. Do it.

Since I suffer vertigo I did not go completely out to the edge......yikes. But the view I did get was spectacular. The windsong throught the pine trees was comforting.

Captain Steve and Marett were AMAZING!! What a wonderful trip for our family. Marett knew so much and shared stories as we traveled the coast. Captain Steve navigated the boat like a boss! Highly recommend!

Easy drive to the lookout over Hanapepe. The best part is walking thru the whispering pines to reach the lookout. You look over to the right to see more cliffs. From the same parking lot you can take a short walk up to see the phallic rock too.

Amazing! Still speechless and breathless... Completely crazy and impressive mountains! A unique place on Earth you must see once in a lifetime!

So beautiful- truly a paradise. The best way to see it is by boat or helicopter and its truly not something to miss.

By SoCalOregonian |

There are many words to describe the Napali Coast…stunning, monumental, magnificent, imposing, awesome and mind-blowing. None of them actually convey the true majesty of this area of Kaua’i. This section of the Kaua’i coast must be seen to appreciate the true beauty that there is to behold. This is a MUST DO at least ONCE IN YOUR LIFETIME!

This was one of my "bucket list" places to experience that I never got around to when living in Hawaii 20 years ago. I'm submitting this review just a day or so since another tragic helicopter crash. I mention this only because we did this tour on a three person "doors off" helicopter ride (including pilot/guide). We used a different helicopter tour company than the one that crashed.

So, while we recommend such a way to see the Na Pali Coast, we understand the hesitancy of others who may want to choose a different way to see this magnificent coast line (i.e. boat/raft tour). We considered hiking since they just reopened the trail. However, we did not have enough time for that.

So, we were fortunate that the weather was safe enough to take our tour and experience this unbelievably beautiful and mangificent coast line. While the coastline is the most well known view, we also toured the interiors with the manificent close views of waterfalls, valleys, etc.

Sadly, accidents happen but if you play it safe and choose the right helicopter company (do your homework online), then you will be able to have a magical time.

This shoreline, remote and uninhabited due to the rough terrain and sea conditions, is a must see if you have the chance. Only access is by a boat, hike or a helicopter ride. But seeing is believing. The work of nature in creating this coastline is truly awesome! In addition to that, there’s dolphins and turtles in the sea and goats, yes, goats in the shore. The sea can be rough, so one needs to be able to stomach the boat ride. This coastline is depicted in the opening credits of Fantasy Island, and so, yes, I’ve been to Fantasy Island!!!!!!

By Sharend |

It is very narrow if you meet another car. Great views. Camping at the water's edge.

By happy4travel |

The colors are breathtaking, especially this time of year. The Na Pali Coast is filled with an abundance of foliage making it even more beautiful! We spent hours just taking in the lovely vistas. Blues, Browns, Greens.....a MUST see for sure!!

By Andy L |

Great to see whether my land, sea or my air. One of the most spectacular coastlines on the planet to experience.

By Blue Jay |

Hands down, the most beautiful place I have ever seen. You MUST take the Na Pali Coast sail AND the Na Pali helicopter tour in order to experience the beauty of this incredible wonder of Mother Nature. We were absolutely blown away by its beauty!

By Peter N |

Some of the highest cliffs in the world, Over 4000 ft dropping straight down to the ocean. Best seen from the air or water.

By Rachel J |

Had an absolute blast on this tour. We saw spinner and bottle nosed dolphins within 20 mins of taking off. Later in the trip we saw multiple whale breeches. The views were breath taking and Drew was an incredible guide! So happy to have shared his company while exploring the na pali coast. 10/10!

By marktosh |

Words can not describe this experience. What a treat for the eyes with lush towering cliffs overlooking secluded beaches and the verdant elevated canyons above the sea. This place has been named among the top 50 most beautiful places on earth by National Geographic.

By combs04 |

We weren’t sure what we were getting into when we called Walter. He was recommended by our tour guide in Kalaupapa. Though the way back was a bit rough for my 78 year old father, the trip was amazing and full of surprises. Walter is knowledgeable and sincere. A few tips: like a Disney ride, you WILL get wet. We suggest putting your wallet/valuables in a ziplock baggie. If you have a dry bag you will want to put your towels in that. Wear a swimsuit or other fast drying clothes. Be ready to have a grand adventure!

By tammyr156 |

The Na Pali coast is beautiful. We explored sea caves, snorkeled, saw spinner dolphins and turtles, waterfalls - just beautiful. One of the highlights of our trip for sure.

By Cyncy S |

If you want to take the best tour on the island give Uncle Walter a call at (808) 213-5655. His tour of the Pali Coast ( tallest sea cliffs in the world) is amazing!
I spent 5 weeks on the island this winter and went out 3 times with various visitors. I would have gone more but Walter left go on his own vacation. He has a deep lifetime love of the area, and it's' waters, and his knowledge is incredible. He will do anything you like, we spent time with whales saw a monk seal, and snorkels, so much fun! Some may think it a pricey tour but 1 tour with Walter Naki is like 3 tours with any one else!

By Roslyn R |

Mersmerising majestic !
Magnificent in all kinds of weather and light levels .
Loved it could do it again tomorrow.
Saw it with captain andy's sunset dinner cruise, thoroughly recommended.

By Elena M |

This was the highlight of our 2 week trip to Hawaii. After visiting 3 other islands this adventure topped everything else. If you love nature. Do this trip

By NanSimpson |

We did not view these cliffs from the sea, which would have been totally awesome. But we did get a good look from the lookout at the end of the road. Taking the donkey ride down to the settlement would have been another great option.

By James S |

An unbelievably beautiful hike down the tallest sea cliffs in the world. A grueling trek with 26 switchbacks and 3.5 miles of stairs. Be sure to take extra water and look for the strawberry guavas near the top of the cliffs. No one can enter Kalaupapa without a sponsor or tour guide but once you enter be ready for one of the most spiritual days of your life in what was once a leper colony. There are mule rides and small planes that can get you to the bottom but my wife and I took the hike and we will never forget the time we spent there. This is a very extreme hike, and do not go when it is raining. You will die.

By oldtravelman62 |

liked the awesome scenic view from the 'free" u.s. park overlook of kalaupapa island & scenic view of pali eastern coast. highest cliffs in the world?

By Cheryl G |

This is a "not to be missed" on your checklist to Kauai. We took Makana Boat Charters and highly recommend this company with Captain Aa. Breathtaking, scenic, fun and safe!

By Jim Deere |

We viewed the Na Pali Coast from the port side suite on the Norwegian Cruise line. Amazing views of this untouched beautiful natural wonder. The pictures we got we're fantastic.

By fiamma11 |

This slice of coastal Kauai is other worldly in its geography and in its beauty. These memories will last for the rest of my life. It is simply spectacular.

By gavin |

TripAdvisor had better check its algorithm because how is this not ranked the #1 thing to do in Kauai? We took a boat ride with Captain J's Adventures on a boat helmed by Andy and his apprentice Ryder.

The sights were out of this world, everything all the other reviews stated. I am glad we got Andy. He got us over some rough waves that were the standard for them but surprising for the first-time visitor. We got used to it pretty quickly.

The snorkeling was just amazing. All of the info he gave us was educational, including some trends on Kauai that have locals upset. (See billionaires buying thousands of acres, eroding local culture.)

This boat ride adventure was one I'll remember forever.

By Rhody19 |

The mule ride to Kalaupapa is very popular while visiting on the Island of Molokai. Instead of riding the mule, I opted to take the small plane ride from the airport in Molokai to the small airport in Kalaupapa, where we joined the group of people who had walked down or had ridden mules to visit the former leper colony. Mule ride & flight were about the same price. We all loaded onto a school bus & were driven through the village, past the numerous churches & special places on the Peninsula. Our driver was very informative & we all came away feeling like we had learned so much & had gained a sense of understanding & appreciation for those who had been forced to live there & those who had cared for them with dedication. Learning about the current residents was most interesting. The scenery, mountains & seaside cliffs are breathtaking.

This is not accessible by car. We watched from our cruise ship. The ship went slower so that we enjoyed the view almost 30 minutes. You can view by helicopter, too. This is a must-see once in a life time.

By jdljr |

We were on the NCL Pride of America cruise and they treat their guests to a sail-by of the Na Pali Coast after departing Nawiliwili. Beautiful, tall cliffs right near the shoreline with stunning waterfalls coming out of the cliffs. Definitely a WOW moment on our cruise. The Hawaiian Ambassador onboard was telling us the only way to see this section of coastline is by hike, air, or sea. Definitely glad our ship took the time to show us this beautiful section of coastline.

By Soraya J |

WONDERFUL place, the nature is exuberant! The forms, the colors, the location, the silence … what a great moment!

By Tom B |

One activity you just don't want to miss out! The views are so surreal. The history of the natives in this area is quite interesting. We were very fortunate to spot mother a Humpback whale with her baby, Bottlenose dolphins along with Spinner dolphins. This trip along the coast was one of our favorites for sure.

By KDJERO |

We viewed this coast from our cruise ship, and all I can say is WOW! We got some amazing family photos from the deck with the coast as a background. Very cool to see.

If you ever have an opportunity to visit Kauai, Hawaii I would highly recommend a trip to the NaPali Coast.  It appears that there are a variety of tours to view the NaPail Coast.  Some people take a rafting excursion, others take a helicopter/small plane tours, and then there are those who attempt to hike the eleven miles on the quite challenging Kalalau Trail. I believe the Sierra Club has rated the NaPali Coast Kalalau Trail a 9 out of 10 for hiking difficulty.  I chose the aircraft (60mins.) option and I must admit it was an amazing trip because it was the easiest option.
I was thrilled to see one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. The NaPail Coast definitely equals unimaginable beauty.  I suggest you add this adventure to your bucket list.  It is well worth your time. However, please do your research before booking any tour because tour choice can make of break your experience. Enjoy your visit to the NaPali Coast!!

This guy is amazing. The sea cliffs are out of this world. Worth every penny. Walter doesn't bother you about long winded stories but they do explain what you're looking at. It's abit choppy in a small boat, but so fun. Our youngest was 10. I wouldn't do to much younger than that. I also wouldn't go if you are advanced elderly.
We stopped a few times and got out, once to a camp site and another to a waterfall, walked in there waterfall, awesome.
It BLEW MY MIND when we drove through the cave.

Walter, if you ever read this, your life is truly blessed.

By GeoBeetles |

You might be forgiven to think you’ve somehow time-traveled to the Jurassic Era as you view the rolling landscapes of Na Pali Coast. Fret not! You’re in the sets of Jurassic Park.

By Anna D |

Unluckily I camped only two nights there, but my short experience was amazing.
If you are in Kauai you can't miss the Na Pali Coast.
My advices for the hiking are:
- pills to filter the water
- a good hammock (you really don't need a tend)
- protein bars
- one jacket in case of rain
ENJOY!!!!

Wow, what a tour! So beautiful, well narrated and a great value as well, We highly recommend this spectacular tour!

By mth58 |

Beautiful are to explore and hike. Take the Kalaupapa hike down to the peninsula. It was a wonderful once in a lifetime experience. So happy he are preserving the history and locals are sharing their knowledge. We decided to walk rather that ride a mule or fly. It was a 2 hr hike each way for us, and didn't seem that difficult. However, our legs were sore for several days after so be careful if you are not used to walking or hiking.

By Michael E |

While we were not able to view the coastline from the water, we did experience it via various hikes and a drive to the "end of the road" past Princeville. Unbelievable views. Highly recommended. Would love to take a "water tour" of the coastline on the next visit.

By Kat S |

cruised the North Shore on a friend's boat. No other humans around! Not one boat. Only saw us and the majestic natural creations.

By sleepykoala007 |

the drive was so slow paced and wonderful. this is the sunday drive! take it slow great little churches to check out the coast line was so beautiful! check it out.

By Finz2010 |

Another beautiful place to see in Kaua'i. The sheer magnificent contours of the land are just amazing. The waterfalls are an added feature to an already wonderful scenery.

By Sammy |

The Na Pali Coast is so beautiful, it looks unreal. We went to Kauai for a day (we were staying in Oahu) with no itinerary and luckily Kauai Sea Tours had an opening. We did the Na Pali Snorkel Raft Adventure that was about 5 hours long. It ended up being my most favorite thing we did during our whole trip, I highly recommend it! You learn a lot about the history of the island, information of the local wildlife, and different movies/shows that took place there. Since we were on a raft, you need to hold on and it can get bumpy. That didn't bother us at all but if you get tired easily, you might want to check their other boat options. Loved our experience and would definitely do it again!

By LCHMLS |

For anyone in shape, the hike to Kalaupapa Peninsula is a must do while on Molokai.

By AdventureSheSaid |

We viewed this coast line from both the Kalalau trail and a boat trip - truly stunning! It's so wonderful how much of the coastline remains pristine and untouched. Unsure how this isn't the top thing to see in Kauai - because you'd be missing out if you went to this island and missed this! Out of this world - if you've seen Jurassic park, lots of footage has come from here!

By Mark42139 |

We enjoyed viewing the NaPali coast. Our highlight on this trip was by a boat ride on Captain Andy's.

By Ed K |

Looking up at the sea cliffs from just above sea level at Kalawao was wonderful. Crashing waves, rainbows and the threat of rain - perfect!

By Jo_M28 |

This tour is a must do when in Kauai. The Na Pali coast is a beautiful sight offering spectacular scenery of cliffs and waterfalls.

We did a catamaran tour that started quite early which is the best time of the day recommended to do such tour. You are then taken around the caves and given information on the location itself. Half way through the tour, you stop for snorkeling and are given all the gear, and also a sandwich as lunch. After that you go back to shore at Hanalei Bay.

An absolute recommendation!

By fiftystatesevenconts |

The fabulous NaPali coast is unlike any other coastline, once you turn the corner and see the western side of Kauai. There is no road, so unless you want to hike in the 26 miles, you need to take a boat tour. Have taken the snorkel tour and dinner cruise and both were fantastic.

By Kim K |

The cliffs are stunning! Water is crystal clear. There is so much history on this island it's just... Tragic, motivating, insightful, touching.

By John D |

The vistas and colors of this coast are fantastic! I was suprised how many people access this remote peninsula and share space with the wildlife living there.

By KingTheWanderlust |

Wow, wow, wow is all I can say about this truly unbelievable masterpiece of nature. I've traveled throughout much of the world and been to some truly beautiful places, and the Na Pali Coast is certainly one that ranks right up there with the most spectacular - and it really needs to be seen by boat to truly appreciate. We booked an excursion with “Na Pali Experience” and so pleased that we were able to see the scenery by boat (as opposed to by air). Being on a small boat was a great, intimate experience and really let us get both up close to the coast and mountains, right inside the caves and truly understand and see what makes this area so beautiful and unusual. The trip with the Na Pali Experience also allowed us to see the local reefs, because we stopped to snorkel for about an hour or so, and being in such a small group was great, because we weren’t bumping into swimmers that way you do with bigger groups. We saw big sea turtles and lots of fish, it was amazing (not too many people to scare them away). Our boat captain (Captain T) was also great as he gave us the history of the area and told us a lot about how the locals live and enjoy this beautiful coast (made me jealous). I will NEVER forget this experience and the beautiful sights. MAKE SURE to bring your best camera and PLENTY of battery power and room on your storage – you will be nonstop clicking away! The memories will stay forever, and we can’t wait to go back.

By lbmonen |

This was such a treat! The vessel UFO and our Capt.Tyler and Red were amazing hosts.
We booked an early morning trip, but they have afternoon and evening as well. As soon as we got going we were greeted by dolphins in the bay, further out we saw sea turtles. The craft is small enough to enter the caves along the coast, I was lucky enough to have the entire boat sing me Happy Birthday inside the cave which was a fun experience! After snorkeling we had a simple lunch which was much needed and hit the spot. Red even busted out his ukelele and sang to us as we headed back to Hanalei. You must put this on your bucketlist!!! Everyone should experience this in your lifetime!! Mahalo!!

By Txislandgirl |

Everything the guide book says and more. You must see to appreciate.

By Audrey C |

We went as a family on the Na Pali trail (2mi that ends at beach). The trail does require effort and good all terrain shoes. We saw all ages on this trail even younger children, the trail is worth it, you get beautiful views and end at the beach. If you are lucky you will get to see the cute island kittens that live near the beach (nice, friendly and cute).

By WyattJohn425 |

A truly breathtaking scene to behold. I would recommend booking one of the countless boat tours to get the full experience, as many of the are best seen from the rich blue waters of Hawaii. The formations are unlike anything I have ever seen. If possible, try to select one of the smaller boats. Not only will this provide for a more quiet and secluded trip, but it will also allow you to explore the sea caves that litter the coast. True wonders of erosion, these caves will truly cause dropping jaws and amazement for all.

By Grant |

Excellent views good road fun drive. Winding along the coastal highway one can make many stops for photos. Take a picnic lunch with you to fully enjoy the drive and the views. Hawaii at its best

By Monadsk |

Blue Dolphin’s Na Pali Coast catamaran Cruise was wonderful. The scenery was exquisite ( we saw so many beautiful dolphins) and Captain Joe, Corey, and Stacey were great and the music was great too! The lunch could have been more vegetarian friendly.
But it was a beautiful day and the scenery truly magical and amazing.

By Svensk11 |

if you've seen the Jurassic Park movies you've seen the Pali Coast. Really spectacular so make an effort to see it in person.

By Mike O |

There are so many boating and helicopter options for viewing Napali, or you can choose to hike it. The hike is tough and a little dangerous it's best for experienced hikers. I personally like the view from the water. However you choose just do it. It is not to be missed. Napali is Kauai's crown on top of this magnificent and beautiful island. The greens, reds and oranges against the deep blue sea and the bright blue sky dotted with cotton candy clouds will amaze your eyes and paint your mind the perfect picture that no camera or photo can do.

By BLMerce |

The Pride of America cruised here with a wonderful narration. Awesome views. If your cruise does not do this, book a tour.

By Terry K |

I was planning on taking a boat tour from Port Arthur up to the NaPali coast. The tour operator indicated that they could not take anyone with a pacemaker or ICD, due to the powerful radars from the Pacific Missle testing range on the SW coast of Kauai. They indicated this could and would have a very negative effect on any such device.

I checked with by EP doctor, who told me to go to Medtronic's customer service. Medtronic indicated they could not recommend the trip, due to the strong electronic signal.

By fierysage |

One of the most memorable sites in Hawaii - seeing the cathedrals on Na Pali Coast. I would highly recommend getting a boat tour and seeing this lovely coastline!

By Silverbullet1955 |

The sea clifts are amazing to see!!! We did a sea clift tour through Molokai Fish & Dive. Included in this tour, we saw Kaulapapa, flew over the 30 mile barrier reef, saw Halawa valley, basically the whole island from the air. It was great!!!

By Laura M |

Beyond excellent, Magical! Highlight of our trip!!!!!!! i
I can't tell you how amazing the company, Na Pali Experience is. What's great about small boats is they get into caves, and there is less chance of people getting sea sick even in choppy waters. Captain Drew was great with his impressive driving skills (negotiating waves & caves) & knowledge. We took the late afternoon (2pm to 7pm) cruise. What's great about that time is we swam with sea turtles, had spinner dolphins at our bow, the light & shadows on the cliffs were breath taking, many rainbows (due to mist). It was the highlight of our trip. Boats take groups of 6 & there was 6 in our own group so we had the boat to ourselves. Book early in your vacation, to make room for rescheduling. The previous day they had to cancel a pm cruise because of large swells. Make sure to look for this particular company, because there are many similar named tour companies. *Actually date we were here was May 2015, I first wrote my review in a different area and the company asked if I would put a review under this heading. Sorry, I finally saw their request.

By LW88 |

We saw this by air on the way over from Maui to Molokai and it was amazing.
We then did the hike down, even more pretty.
Then after it had rained, we got to see it again by air on the flight from Molokai back to Maui and it was even more pretty because all of the waterfalls were running from the rain which we didn't get to see on the trip over.
You can just stare at it for hours.

By James L |

While traveling the Hawaiian Islands on NCL the ship took a afternoon cruise along the beautiful Na Pali Coast. Breathtaking scenery and no wonder why the set for many movies. Incredible from the ocean and equally incredible on a land tour.

By Gary F |

Viewed this area from off the coast in a catamaran. Very impressive coastline with mountains. A must see if you are in Kauai.

By James H |

The Na Pali coast is a must see for any visit to the garden island. My wife and I went on a day cruise and a romantic sunset criuse...both featuring the beautiful Na Pali Coast as a backdrop...BEAUTIUL...

By Sheree E |

Absolutely beautiful. One of God's creations. Go past the first outlook and follow the road to the coast. Awesome views at this point. No words can describe this site. A must see

By Connie L |

Beautiful, beautiful trip. We took a boat cruise in December, and while we didn't see any whales, the views of the coast were not to be missed.

By DannyWasserman |

We enjoyed the Na Pali coastline from a helicopter vantage point. You must take this trip whether you take it by boat ride or helicopter flight, words can't, or photos can't describe this massive coastline of Kauai. Some of the most pristine ocean waters crashing along the coastline. The waters shooting up from the jagged rocks are WOW!! The mountains are spectacular and the geography can't be explained. Take the trip and enjoy.

By Judit T |

We loved this tour. Captain John was really great and the view was amazing. Na Pali coast is beautiful and unforgettable! Must see it on Kauai. Saw sea caves and lots of fish and of course see turtles!!!!

By SavvyReeder |

The Na Pali coast is worth seeing once in your life. The spires of rock and beautiful scenery are breathtaking. Take a chartered boat and spend the day in awe of Kauai's beauty. This is one of my favorite places to visit when we come to Hawaii. There are a smattering of small beaches throughout, so during the summer months, it can be kayaked when the waters calmer. Beware those who get motion sick. If you take a cruise during the winter, you will be encountering large swells.. Otherwise Its worth it!

By Cruisin_Cousin |

We could never go there enough. We save and save to take another trip to a true island paradise. The people there are so warm and friendly it makes me feel like we've lived there forever.

By Worthy Alberg |

3rd time to the Pali coast of Molokai. Twice by land, once by sea. The place never ceases to amaze me. Absolutely stunning views you will see no where else in the world.

By Stefan V. B |

We found a local who took us there on his boat. He has been going there since he was 8 years old, now takes his grandchildren. We are extremely grateful for his generous sharing of his island with us. Of the 1% of visitors who go to Moloka'i, 1% get to see the Pali. Most of them by helicopter. If you can, go like the Hawai'ians, by boat.

By Jeff P |

Beyond words beautiful. Seen from the sea, the beach or best yet hiked trails it will leave you awed and amazed. Pictures and video cannot due it justice...go and immerse yourself in God's natural creation.

By scubabum |

We had an awesome time on the No Doors Helicopter tour of the Na Pali coast. It's unbelievably beautiful, breathtaking. It took me 10 minutes into the trip to finally relax enough to enjoy it, just because I was scared of the no of doors thing. The peaks and valleys and waterfalls. Wow!!
We loved it so much that we did another tour, this time with Blue Dolphin sailboat. It was awe inspiring as well. So gorgeous to see the Na Pali coast from the air and then from the ocean. Out of all the things we saw and did on Kauai the Na Pali coast is the one we talk about most.

By NahanniRafter |

My husband and I saw the cliffs from the Kalaupapa Overlook, we saw them as we rode the mules to and from the former leper colony, we saw them during the tour, and a few days later we hiked west from the Kalaupapa Overlook for different views. All were spectacularly beautiful.

How long you spend here depends on you, your schedule, and your fitness level. Altogether, we spent many hours here during different visits.

By drmikenyc |

As others reviewers write, this is an awesome view and incredible wonder of nature. Probably more people know about 'pali' (Hawai'ian term for sea cliffs) from the movies shot on Kaua'i, such as Jurassic Park, and filmed from the air - often the best or only way. Tiny Moloka'i is said to have the world's tallest sea cliffs. It's very difficult to visit Molokai (by tiny plane or boat) and not be impressed by the cliffs as you approach the tiny, but high-off-the-ground island. By air you can appreciate how truly high the cliffs are, or equally if you approach by boat.

With the Kalaupapa Peninsula just at sea level (in the shape of a 'flat leaf') the isolation colony of Father Damien peers up at sheer cliffs, some images of which I recognize from reviewers' posts. Also this was the backdrop, correctly so, for the movie(s) named "Moloka'i". There are also hiking routes to, down, over and under the pali across Moloka'i, and as in Kaua'i, you get a sense of history, spiritual connection with nature, and different perspective on the world seeing these wonders of nature - throughout the Hawai'ian islands, since ancient days. Do know there's lots of hunting in the east, and you need a 4WD and to know the trails for some of the vantage points. But Moloka'i does have some majestic pali to match the island's history and its people's love of the land and sea.

By Avis S |

This was well worth the money. I loved the boat because it had a canopy for shade. Most that I researched were regular zodiacs which has no shade and makes for a rough ride, especially in the afternoon (hint-take the morning tour). Captain Kevin and first mate Drake were awesome people and had much aloha to spread. Kevin is very knowledgeable, being a hawaiian local, of the Na Pali Coast and we enjoyed his narration. Snorkeling was ok, not many fish, but a nice chance to cool off. Lunch was a nice deli sandwich with drinks and chips. The greatest part were the school of dolphins that found us. Capt. Kevin, took his time and slowed the engine so we all could take pictures. It wasn't until the dolphins left that we got on our way. I was very surprised at the Kevin's boating skills. We reversed into a cave! It was a fun time and I'd take the Na Pali Explorer II again! Mahalo!

By silvertip66 |

The views are amazing. The tallest seaside cliffs in the world. A refreshing change from the more arid south and west shores.

We have just returned from a week in Molokai and our time with Walter on his boat was the best part. When you think you have seen all of Molokai at the West and South beaches, you have not. To really appreciate the sea cliffs you must take Walter's boat trip. Walter likes to males his guest happy as well. If you want to snorkel just ask if you can bring your gear. If you want to cliff jump he will take you to a great spot. He even asked if we wanted to watch his friends spear fish.

My wife and I rode out some abandoned roads off of 480 and got spectacular view to the east and the west. I would give you more detail, but nothing was marked. We just headed west toward the end of 480 and kept making rights (north) toward to beach/cliffs. One of the roads took us past tons of abandoned cars and large appliances. The landscape was almost lunar-like. It was really cool.

Awesome crew aboard a well kept and comfortable catamaran. Beautiful day trip up and down about 3/4 of the breathtaking Napali Coast and then over to Niihau for a snorkel.
I recommend these caring folks who try real hard to be sure everyone is enjoying themselves. I loved seeing Niihau up close.
Worth the price of admission! :)

We had a wonderful adventure with Captain Steve and Marett, we could not be happier! They were very attentive and fun. Great stories by both of them! We went inside the caves which was amazing, we felt like Pirates! The Snorkeling was fun, beautiful, and unrushed. The equipment was first rate too. The boat, owned by Captain Steve was fast and specially made for the Na Pali waters and rode the waves very well.

Be sure to get Captain Steve and Merett, we highly recommend them!

We were fortunate enough to have a port side room on NCL's Pride of America so we got to sail by it's splendor and take it in by ship. Simply stunning and surreal. I had never seen terrain like this in real life so I was in awe. The jagged mountains, rough waters and hidden beaches make me want to come back and do a bit of hiking to get a different perspective.

Took this dinner cruise for our Anniversary, because we had taken one last year on Big Island.
The dinner cruise was not a dinner cruise water was so rough could hardly move around.
Food was taco that is not what I would call a dinner cruise. Couldn't even eat my food.
Wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
The one we took last year over exceeded my expectations.
Several others we also unable to eat and were given plates to go, I was not.

This was our second visit to Hawaii & we wanted to see the wonderful Na Pali coastline from the ocean. We stayed on Oahu & this trip is easily doable as a day trip. We caught the 5.15 a.m. flight from Oahu to Lihue Kauai. Picked up a hire car & drove to the Kikiaola small boat harbour. If you want to view this coatline from a distance, take a leisurely catamaran tour that holds over 50 people. That was not for us. We chose the Na Pali Experience, a smaller boat that only takes 6 people. Our reason for this is the smaller boat can actually get into the sea caves. This company also goes further along the coastline than any of the other boats. We took the trip that commenced at 9a.m., as Na Pali has a reputation for rough seas. If you are prone to seasickness, which I am, take one Bonine tablet the night prior and one in the morning.(only available to purchase in the USA, I couldn't get anything like this in Australia) This trip is approximately 5 hrs with a snack break & time for a snorkel or quick swim, weather permitting. I didn't start to feel sick until about 3 hrs into the trip, took another Bonine & had no problems. This trip is a really exhilarating experience, so if that's what you are after, make sure you do this one. Captain Nate was such an expert in waiting for the right wave to pass, so he could deftly nagivate his way into the sea caves. We saw the cave where Capt Jack Sparrow stood, went into a cave where Mary J. Blige stood on a rock & made a video, went into a nearly pitch black cave and some other caves. The soaring Jurassic Park like cliff face of the Na Pali coastline is like nowhere else on Earth. If you want to get up close to this shoreline & are a little adventurous, make sure you book with the Na Pali Experience. This was one of the best trips we've ever done!

Doors-off helicopter tour with Mauna Loa Helicopters meant we all had front row seats to one of the most beautiful places in the world.

We saw this by ship about a mile from the coast line. Because it was late afternoon we saw the color changes as we approached dusk. WOW, nothing like it on the face of the earth. Will never forget this most spectacular act of nature. You have to see it to believe it.

We saw this coast from an air tour and from a ground tour. Awesome views. Coming from the Virginia Atlantic coast where the land meets the sea at sea level, this was amazingly different. Beautiful!

Simply enjoy the views - be it from the state park, helicopter, hiking or boat. Trying to describe the beauty of this area is futile. In short, the topography and color of the landscape is like no other.

Very bad experience with Walter Naki. On 30 July 2017, the two of us paid US$ 300 cash for what was supposed to be a boat trip along Molokai's North Side sea cliffs. Turned out that boat stopped roughly halfway "to pick up campers" in a bay over there. We waited more than two hours on the anchored tiny motor boat, in the sun, waiting for these fellows to pack up their stuff. Then the overcrowded boat went back to its starting point, Haleiwa Bay on the Eastern tip of Molokai. Total disaster and rip off.

We stayed on the north shore of the island and saw the coast by car( going into Hanalei), by boat and helicopter. One visit was more spectacular than the next. Just gorgeous.

We started the hike at Ke'e beach and went 2 miles stopping at the river and returning. There are many, many slippery spots and I would not recommend doing this hike if it has rained recently. There are so many wonderful views. We got there shortly after 8am and the closest parking lot was already full. By the time we returned to our car the second was full and there were cars parked along the road as we left for quite a long way.

The pali along the North Coast of the Island of Molokai are the tallest sea cliffs in the world. Some of them tower as high as 4,000 above sea level, intertwined with deep beautiful valleys and highlighted by numerous waterfalls, one of them, Papalauea, has a 1200-foot cascade. The lighhouse marking the Kalaupapa Peninsula was the brightest in the world, until relaced by an automated light some years ago. Unfortunately, there are only two ways to really appreciate them - by sea and by air. Once in a while you will find a boat service that will take you along them. Or, many times, while flying from Honolulu to Maui, your airline will fly you along them. If you are fortunate to spend some time on Maui, it will be worth you while to take one of the helicopter tours that will fly you along them and into and out of the valleys. You can see part of them from the Kalaupapa Lookout on Molokai, and more should you take one of the tours down onto the Peninsula itself, but the best view of all will be by helicopter.

We visited the Na Pali coast first by land, then by sea, what an amazing part of the world! The views are utterly spectacular in this region, and unforgettable! From all of the amazing places to stop on the way up to the top of Kokee State Park where the views are incredible, to a fun and and adventurous zodiac tour along the coastline, where we saw spinner dolphins, turtles, monk seals, and of course zipped in and out of caves. We spent 3 weeks in Hawaii, and visited 3 islands, this was our favourite!
