High quality exhibits and displays

This small center showcases the best of the beach....the ecosystem, specifically, sea turtles. It's small, but worth the visit. It's a must see for everyone that visits the beach! Exhibits include conservation messages, several aquariums (my favorite was the jellyfish), videos and underwater webcams of the reef. It was still a great place to visit, even though they don't have any adopted turtles at this time. They are clearly doing great work protecting sea turtles. Staff were friendly and helpful and did not judge us for looking a mess coming from the beach! :) Nice gift shop with locally made items.

For the love of Sea Turtles

By Brenda B |

Wonderful visit to the Sea Turtle Sanctuary. Greeted by friendly staff who volunteer their time instructing visitors about Sea Turtles and their habitat. Learned about their nesting period and how they're affected by the beach hazards around them. Very informative tour. Cute gift shop with items purchased that can help support the organization.

Nice place!

By skellerman67 |

We visited this center during a trip to Navarre in May 2018. Loved the information about the sea turtles and conservation. Very friendly staff. Nice bike ride to the facility.

Cute and Educational

By natbburg22 |

This was cute and educational. I love the work they are doing to educate the public about sea turtle conservation. Very informative and eye opening!

A hidden gem!

By Natalie T |

There is a lot of love and education packed into the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center. It is run by an all volunteer staff that is passionate about what they do. They have wonderful exhibits and a thoughtful selection of gift items including items made by local craftsman and photographers. Grants, admission and gift shop sales provide funding.

There is plenty to do right in the area to round out the afternoon. Pier for walking and fishing, restaurants, beach access and public bathrooms nearby.

Gotta Love Sweet Pea

By oicrnow |

Visiting the Turtle Center was delightful. It is a small exhibit, but all of the staff have a love for turtles and aquatic creatures. It was quite a special experience. Don't let the hours on Google mislead you. Give them a call to check the hours. Masks required.

Great experience

By Terri S |

The staff was great. We really enjoyed learning about the different turtles. My daughter got to feed the different animals. We had a private tour, masks required inside, hand sanitizer used, and safety first. A memorable experience for sure. A must see!

Great experience for kids

By SFH |

Such a wonderful little place to visit! It’s very small and doesn’t take long to tour. For $5, it’s totally worth it! Awesome educational opportunity for the kiddos and a wonderful little gift shop. We can’t wait to visit again.

Spectacular

By Kate H |

We absolutely loved visiting the NBSTCC! The experience was both educational and entertaining! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Sweet Pea was so adorable. There is good information about how we humans can help the sea turtle population. We will definitely return on another trip.

Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center

By 387indy |

Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center has that beach decor look and feel. They use covid 19 procedures, they have a great staff and give an educated tour. In fact the center is entertaining and educational. The visitors are from the mid west and southern states. Ages children, 30's thru 60's, equally divided male and female.

Seriously underwhelming.

By Erin C |

I’ll preface my review by saying that the sea turtle conservation center undoubtedly does amazing, invaluable work. While the admission fee of $5 per adult initially doesn’t sound very costly, it’s pricey for the lack of a fulfilling experience, and even pricier for those paying admission for larger families. There is an initial impression that the rehabilitation center has more to offer visitors in terms of an educational program than it actually does. Aside from the few aquatic turtles and tortoises on the exterior of the building, there are 3 live specimens on exhibit indide the building that are truly intriguing and worth observing— a lion fish, a small tank of jelly fish and darling Sweet Pea the rescued sea turtle who is beyond rehabilitation and cannot be returned to the wild. Upon arriving at the rehabilitation center, our group of 20 or so visitors was told that we’d be taken on a tour. The tour consisted of entering the building and gathering around Sweet Pea’s swimming pool, where an employee educated us in a 10 or so minute info session on sea turtles in general and shared with us the life story of Sweet Pea and how she came to be a permanent resident of the conservation center. She is the only sea turtle on site, and if this is known up front prior to visiting the center, then expectations can be more reasonable. That was the extent of the “tour”. The group was then left to explore a room with a handful of other specimens and some exhibits and info posted on the walls. There’s also a gift shop. We expected to learn more about the work done by the conservation center and thought that we’d see more than one sea turtle b/c the web site makes reference to multiple. It would also be wonderful to hear other stories of sea turtle rescue and of efforts made to preserve the overall population.

Small but nice

By KJEulinger |

The facility is small, but has very good displays and information about turtle conservation. Kids enjoyed it. There was only one turtle inside though.

wonderful for kids and turtle lovers

By Kayla B |

A friend and I came by because we love turtles. The staff was so friendly and loved questions. They were able to answer all of our questions, and because it was a slow part of the day, we were able to have a one on one with one of the staff, Nikki. She was super friendly and taught us a lot, even recommending other places to visit to see more turtles. 10/10 must stop by!

TURTLE CONSERVATION AT NAVARRE BEACH

By Hazel |

This was a quick, cheap, convenient trip for our two young grand babies. It’s a very small confined area and they did have a guide talking with us about the one large sea turtle they had rescued. Additionally, they had a few aquariums onsite with fish, and some other marine life as well as some interactive wall puzzles for the kids. Upon leaving we landed in a bathroom sized gift shop, which I felt was quite pricey. There was no charge for parking, however, and the entry fee was only $5 per person so we got our monies worth for sure.

Sweet Pea

By librarylady |

I had read that the building was small and while that is true, the building is packed to the brim with exhibits and information. I loved seeing Sweet Pea and I am so glad that she is now living the good life here! The gift shop was reasonably prices and full of items made by local people. It was well worth the $5 and the hour we spent there.

Great place to visit!

By Chelsy S |

We have visited twice now and plan to stop by every time we’re in town! Sweet pea is precious, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly! Definitely a fun stop!

Good Place.

By Tom G |

This a good place to learn about Sea Turtles. They have several in an indoor tank to view. The admission price is $5 or $4 for children and seniors.

Treasure of Navarre Beach

By Kelseywo |

You can't visit Navarre Beach without stopping into the Sea Turtle Conservation Center. The people who run this place are so caring and absolutely unstoppable. This center has grown so much over the years and its really the best part of Navarre Beach in my opinion. It's small but worth every minute. Very informative and always a pleasant surprise to see their resident sea turtle. Wonderful gift shop perfect for any holiday or birthday. There's always new exhibits and animals at the center so it's great to go back year after year!

Small but helpful

By Brooke T. |

When my husband and I went, the turtle was not there and was gone for health reasons. We still decided to go in. It was much smaller than we expected. The best part was that they had a lion fish (which is my favorite fish).. the staff was kind and knowledgeable.

I LOVE this place!

By JamiLynn10 |

I highly recommend a visit to this center! They are doing great things to help sea turtles! My husband and I visited for the Honorary Animal Care Team program last week, and it was a great experience! We loved learning about the different animals and especially enjoyed watching Sweet Pea swim around and eat. It was also a lot of fun getting to feed the tortoises. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable! I highly recommend a visit!

Learn & escape the heat of the day

By Valerie S |

Great way to take a break from the sun and learn about sea life around the area. The conservatory does an amazing job. I could not imagine not visiting the Navarre area and not going by to visit. Say “Hi” to Sweet Pea for me when you go.

All for good cause

By jantraveler9 |

Although when we visited in Feb of 2018 Sweet Pea had not yet made her appearance we found the center to be very interesting and educational. It is a small building but they have a lot of information packed in it. It can only be better now that they have a turtle in the pool. They are doing a lot to help the turtles.

Great experience!

By Gigi71220 |

This a fun family activity! It doesn't cost much and doesn't take a lot of time, but it is so worth it! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the displays are well done.

sweet pea

By summer6008 |

we got there and they were close to closing but enjoyed it,very educational and we loved sweet pea ,the turtle!!!

Educational and entertaining marine museum

By Maryann S |

The hands on approach is so healthy for children and we brought our grandaughter here to learn about the sea turtles. She was very interested and told her mother all about what she learned. We stayed for quite a long time and she spent time with the rescued turtle that is in the main tank.

Very small and disappointing

By Veperr321 |

Extremely small center with one small turtle. I have been to many sea turtle conservation places and this one was a bit of a let down. They charge $5 admission each and we spent less than 5 minutes there. No one talked to us as the one volunteer was talking with another group. If you are looking to see some big sea turtles and other marine life. Make the trip to Gumbo Limbo or Marathon.

Do not let the small size fool you.

By Mel A |

The best place for people to learn how we impact the environment around us. Cute gift shop, but they offer so much more than being a smaller educational exhibit with a live sea turtle. You can take kayak trips in the sound or to the artificial reef on Navarre Brach.

Amazing

By savsgram |

Read about this before our trip and could not wait to visit. If I would have had my grandkids with me they would have loved it. Thanks for all your hard work

Quaint Quality

By Wendy J |

No doubt, this is a very small center...when we went, it was staffed by two volunteers. But they are friendly and informed. Our two young children enjoyed seeing a sea turtle up close and the volunteer was able to answer every question and even came back and got them from the other exhibit area when Gigi (the turtle) started swimming again. They also have a short "scavenger hunt" sheet, which encourages young visitors to read through the exhibit notations (my kids loved this). Not sure that I would drive a long way to visit, but as we were in the area, it was a great stop. Happy to pay the $5/person fee to support conservation efforts.

Awesome place teaching others about helping the environment

By Jarod H |

Had a lot of fun this place can teach you all about sea turtle conservation. Would be a great stop for kids or anyone wanting to learn more. The artificial reef display was really cool and explains what they are doing. I am definitely going to go snorkeling out to see them!

Save the Sea life

By Jettie P |

The Sea Turtle Sanctuary at Navarre Beach Marine Park is amazing. There is a beautiful green turtle who was rescued from a fishing net and who lost a flipper and part of her shell because of getting entangled. She now lives at the sanctuary and has her own in-floor pool in which to live, play, and interact with visitors. Their museum includes sculptures of a sea horse and other items made from trash collected from the ocean and beaches. There are also live sea horses, jelly fish, and other live sea creatures living at the sanctuary. The staff answers questions and provide information on how everyone can protect and preserve life in the ocean. I recommend this place for everyone, especially families with children.

Great way to support sea turtle conservation

By Andrew N |

A great place to visit. Very informative and nice to hear the story of Sweat Pea. We did have to wait about an hour to get in but did get to see a sea turtle that they had just rescued from the pier.

Fun place to visit!

By Guide818478 |

Worth the visit! Meet sweet pea a sea turtle who resides at NBSTCC. There is a small per person charge. You can walk around and look at some of the other residents like jellyfish! Was there during feeding time and that was fun! The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a good addition to a visit to the pier where you can often view sea turtles as well! Fun activity for a great cause!

An Educational and Fun Experience.

By LouNLinda |

We went on a morning it was raining while vacationing in Pensacola. We all learned about turtles and conservation. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

An absolute gem!

By ABC |

Incredibly impressive staff - great experience for the entire family. My children can't wait to go back!

Does a great job with education and conservation

By D C |

I am impressed by the conservation efforts given to save sea turtles. I grew up at a beach in south Alabama and rarely saw sea turtles there. Sea turtles are thriving at Navarre and the well- equipped staff have expertise in rescuing these wonderful creatures.

Love turtles!

By JennyLove82 |

We have been dying to see a sea turtle and stumbled across this place online. So glad we did! There is small entry free. You get to see a sea turtle upclose and personal. Once we learned more about here we took a self guided tour around the building and got to learn more about turtles and other sea life. It was a short (and beautiful) drive from Pensacola Beach. The kids did a scavenger hunt and got a bracelet and tattoo or sticker for participating. It was a really cute little place that takes about 30-60 minutes to visit. Would definitely go again!

Doing good for the sea turtles

By smariel |

If you are looking for an inexpensive quick stop in Navarre, the entry fee is $5 person. If it didn't go to sea turtle conservation then I'd say skip. They had 1 sea turtle outside in a sandy pen. It was hot and although he had shade, I felt sorry for him...not where sea turtles should be. When you first walk in, there is a large pool with 1 sea turtle that was severely injured who now resides there. You can walk in and look at the turtle in the pool and leave but to stay and listen to the brief narrative about the turtle or to go further in, you have to pay the $5 fee. Talk was very brief and they will answer questions at the end. The other area of the small facility has a few tanks with other turtles and fish and a small gift shop. We were there a total of about 10 minutes.
I applaud them for the work they are doing but would be nice to have a bit more to see when charging a fee. Or call the fee a required donation instead...may make people feel better about paying it.

Great experience

By Josh H |

I liked seeing & learning about turtles. The staff is very informative and know what they are talking about. Sadly not able to see Gigi, the big turtle, because she was sick getting checked in Panama City but still had a good time.

Pretty cool

By Kwalls71 |

We went here on a rainy day and spent about an hour. My husband, our 21yo son, and I enjoyed it. They have a rescued turtle and some interesting stuff to see.

Just loved it. What an awesome job they did at this tourist site.

By cappiecoco |

It was great to see the blind turtle, Gi Gi in her very own poole to enjoy. Puts a big smile on your face.

Learned So Much About Gulf Marine Life

By Gail B |

The building is tiny that houses Gigi, the blind sea turtle, but it is packed with information. The guides on hand to answer questions in Gigi's pool area are extremely well informed. The other exhibits, while simple and tiny are well put together. My granddaughter had great fun trying to put together the 3 sea turtle wall puzzles that were simple, yet even made the adults think. My favorite part was learning what we can do to help marine life thrive, simple things that we had never thought about before, but can mean life or death for sea life, especially the turtles. It's small, but at $5/person, I think it is well worth the visit.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE SEA TURTLES?!

By KathyJo69 |

Small facility, but excellent information/exhibits. Loved seeing the tortoise outside & the recovering sea turtle inside. Had a great conversation about conservation & recycling with one of the staff.

Sweat Pea

By Beth D |

Love visiting sweat pea and learning all about the marine life and eco system of the area. Keep u the great work!

Sweet Pea Stole The Show

By Jason B |

We went to the center on a Saturday and didn't have to wait in line which was great. It's $5 for entry, $4 for military and seniors, and Free for 2 and under if I remember the prices correctly. Sweet Pea is the resident Green Sea Turtle that is in the center. She is a permanent resident because due to her injuries she can never be released. The staff is very informative and answers all your questions, and they are very patient with the little ones. There is a small informative area on turtles and other sea life in the center as well. While we were there, there was a tortoise outside for you to look at as well. The center is fairly small, and I could see it filling up quickly on a busy day. I highly recommend going to see Sweet Pea and the staff if you are in the Navarre area!

Great for kids!

By Jeff F |

In spite of not having a sea turtle, it was a really interesting and informative stop. We went at the end of our time in Navarre and learned a lot about the sea life we saw throughout the week, hurricanes that had hit the area over the years, and the artificial reef they have constructed just off the beach near the conservancy. My kids (5 and 4) loved the scavenger hunt in the conservancy and learned a lot in the process. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Generous and informative staff

By D'Marie B |

This is a small place with a lot of heart. The information about turtles was worthy enough and their guest, SweetPea was sort of endearing. There were a couple staffers that basically followed us room to room to continue sharing stories and information. The gift shop was quite rich with desirable and unique works of art. You need time here for dialogue and gift shopping despite a tiny size. My companion had gone once before and found very little staff presence and thus no real information. So the staffing pattern may not be consistent. I had the impression all 'staffing' is provided by volunteers and is therefore variable. This place would really benefit from more financial support from the community.

Great work by the center to protect and rehabilitate the sea turtles

By cabinwoman |

Outstanding experience. A group of very committed volunteers and a small but talented professionals staff are doing good work with injured sea turtles with the ultimate goal of returning them to their natural habitat.

Turtle Center

By Livesonthebeach |

Great place and great addition to Navarre Beach. These people are very serious about the volunteer work they do. Very educational

small but informative

By ritasam2016 |

This attraction took us an hour to get to and we were disappointed by the size of it. Very small but the staff was excellent. They answered any questions and willingly let us hold and get up close to some of the exhibits. The staff were all friendly and shared a lot of stories about the animals there. It is inexpensive so for the information you get, the value was great.

Cute little place.

By Dennis R |

Not a big place but very informative. Workers really seem to care about the wildlife. Cost was very little, I think it may have been $3.00

Fun stop on a foul weather day

By Angela S |

Stopped by to see some rescued turtles and tortoises. Has some fun info about local sea life and how pollution and fishing are affecting the local ecosystem. Great for kids.

Large loggerhead rehabbed

By NKH1944 |

While vacationing on Navarre Beach, we visited the Conservation exhibits. They take very good care of a blind loggerhead that was found on east coast and rehabbed then brought to them to live out her days. Staff is knowledgeable and ready to answer all your questions. The varies exhibits are informative and interesting. There is magnetic puzzle board for all to play. It is not large but is inexpensive and fun. I would take my grandsons if in the area and I would return myself.

Appearances are deceiving

By Diane S |

Visitors who love the ocean and turtles and advocate conservation will stay longer than anticipated on a visit. Our group of seven included four kids, ages 11-14, and three adults. We stayed an hour and a half, fascinated with the quality exhibits in this small space. Basically three rooms, the center features an indoor pool for amputee green turtle Sweet Pea. Here, volunteers give educational talks on Sweet Pea’s survival and behaviors. A L-shaped second room features exhibits on shells, turtle species, aquariums including jelly fish, a sea horse, and turtles. The kids were fascinated with the jars showing different stages of turtle gestation. They also liked an interactive turtle tracking screen which shows the distance traveled and location of turtles being tracked internationally. A small gift shop is packed with great turtle items as well as conservation items like reusable metal straws. Be sure and stay for the Sweet Pea feeding sessions. We were amazed at Sweet Pea’s adaptation which the volunteers explained in an interesting manner.

Family Friendly Activity

By fruitl88p |

It's five bucks a person to enter, and while you wait they have some lovely activities for children to do outside. There are also a couple of tortoises outside as well.

I was surprised to see upon entering that they only had one sea turtle in there, Sweat Pea. She's the sweetest and loves company. Beyond her there isn't much and then there's a gift shop as well. I did find their display about not using white lights on the beach for sea turtle safety very interesting and educational.

It was worth the $5 because I know they give back and help hooked turtles on the pier, etc. They are also planning to expand their facility.

This is a great family-friendly activity, and the pier is super close to go to right after.

Excellent little place to learn about the sea turtles.

By Missy D |

We visited this area after seeing sea turtles on the pier and seeing the volunteers tend to a nest that hatched right outside of our condo! It was a great learning experience and so cute to see Sweet Pea! What she went thru is heartbreaking. Really makes you think about how you leave the environment and how it affects the turtles. She lost a flipper and part of her shell 😢

Loved It!

By Amber |

Our kids love Turtles and wanted to find a location that rescued them. This little gem is what we found! Holly was fantastic with the thousand and one questions from the boys and never missed a beat. They fulfilled the wish of seeing a sea turtle and educated them and us along the visit.
While the building appears small they have lots of little areas that they can go one on one with the kids and teach them. The outdoor area with Safari was neat as well and had a special dig area for the kids. It was an hour and forty-five minutes from our condo but well worth the trip. Navarre is a hidden gem of Florida right along with this conservation group.

Turtle Fun Day

By LaRhonda C |

This was a very interesting place to visit. I learned a lot about sea turtles. We enjoyed watching the turtle there swim in the tank and learn about its history

Disappointed

By 140ginag |

We visited on our last day of vacation. We were not informed before we paid that the only sea turtle on display was not there. We don't mind donating to a good cause, but I feel that we should have been informed beforehand. You can see more at Pet Depot.

Great tour!

By Kelly |

We really enjoyed the conservation. The tour was short & talked all about the one sea turtle they rescued. We enjoyed it though & learned a lot. There are a few exhibits to see as well & a gift shop. They even had tortoises outside while we waited for the tour to start. We would definitely go back again to see Sweet Pea!

Educational!

By Anita C |

Teenagers loved it.
Educational.
Outside activities
It is a very short indoor tour.
Support the center and purchase a keepsake from the gift shop!

An Informative and Exciting Experience!

By aless-nicole_cworld |

An overall wondrous and educational experience! This is my second time going and it was just as enjoyable as the first. Not only do they have fun and interactive learning opportunities but the staff is amazing! They give a very detailed explanations on not only sea turtles but all other types of turtles and tortoises and conservation in general. A must go to and fun for all ages!

Small but mighty

By maldenmusic |

We visited while on a beach trip to Florida. Easy to find and parking available all around facility. The staff were knowledgeable and although we didn't follow a guide we could hear them speaking to others. Nice gift shop with locally made crafts. Sweet Pea, the resident turtle, is the highlight of the trip. There's also a rescued tortoise on site in his own enclosure. A nice way to spend an hour.

Family

By Pamark4 |

We really enjoyed this little place. It doesn't have enough space for lots of people, so I would suggest to go within a group of 4-6. Very informative little introduction about sweet pea the turtle. It has no bathrooms. It has a little gift shop at the end. They accept credit/debit cards. Military discount was provided as well. Regular price is $5 per person/child.

Good work - all volunteers, no gov. funding

By Ohio_traveler_46 |

This impressive organization educates the public and rescues sea turtles, terrapins, and tortoises who are hurt or surrendered by individuals who cannot care for them.
We loved both Safari and Sweet-pea!
I learned so much in a short time and in a relatively small structure.
The gift shop offers a variety of remembrances in a wide price range to suit all budgets.
Suggested donation at entrance is $5 per person.

Disappointed Sweet Pea not there

By sassyone1 |

Was also told not there until after we paid. It was an okay visit, but nothing spectacular. We were there anout 20 minutes. They have a thing where you can sift through sand to look for a sharks tooth, but that's another $10. I would pay a few more, but $10! I live the sea turtles, but wouldn't go back.

Wonderful Center Doing Great Work!

By avalawn |

This center takes in rescued sea turtles and rehabs them. The staff is very informative and willing to answer any question that you may have. The turtles on exhibit are very interesting to watch and learn about. This is a worth while stop while in the Navarre Beach area.

Family vacation 2017

By svcarlyle |

This was a great informational place to go. We learned a lot about sea turtles and how to help protect them.

A great, educational spot

By Gayle B |

This center is really well-done. They have a number of rescued turtles who they care for. Guides were excellent (especially Judy) and we learned a lot.

Worth your time AND concern

By Jonathan T |

A good little "get out of the sun for a bit" activity. My wife loves sea turtles, so while nearby we surprised her with a visit. The facility is quite small and there is limited parking, but the mission and the dedicated volunteers make it a rewarding stop. We enjoyed seeing Sweet Pea and knowing she is being cared for and we thought the exhibits were well done educational and informative. The entrance fee seemed quite reasonable.

Neat little center

By thetopfs |

My family and I were looking for something to do inside since we were at the beach all day yesterday and got alittle burnt lol. This place was inside. It was pretty neat...very small so it doesn’t take long but it was neat. My kids loved sweet pea the sea turtle. They told alittle bit of her history and facts about sea turtles. Pretty interesting little facility.

Will return with other family members!

By MarilynnFromMilton |

I was so happy with our experience that I plan to return next summer with our grandson to the shark school & the following summer to the surf lessons! Would love to come back with other family members as well! Highly recommend!

A great place!

By Jon |

Very informative and Sweat Pea, the little sea turtle, was adorable! The volunteers were kind and knowledgeable. They also have a great gift shop!

Don't miss this one

By Miller T |

Very nice little marine exhibit. Not going to take up alot of time but will worth it. Sea turtles, jellys and other marine life.

Small but packed with helpful information

By pattignv |

I took my granddaughter to this turtle rescue as we have visited others and she’s keen on seeing the turtles and marine life. This is a very small rescue facility, however, they’ve used their space to a maximum and they’ve filled it with lots of information for both children and adults. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly and willing to answer questions. It was immaculate and the resident turtle “Sweet Pea” appeared to be healthy and content.
I’ve seen reviews complaining about how small it is and that it’s a waste of money, I vehemently disagree with these comments. This is small because of the costs associated with running a charity rescue and without donations and support it stays small. I believe in putting your money towards causes that you care about and if you think that it’s too small, you’re wrong. Education can happen in the tiniest of places and those children that have been to this rescue can learn what it takes to keep our seas and marine life safe and thriving. It wasn’t a fee that was unreasonable, your $5 doesn’t really pay for much of anything. But by leaving a donation and educating yourself and your children, that’s money and time well spent.

Family trip to the turtle center

By palmerchad5 |

This small yet impressive place is perfect for animal lovers. The staff members were really kind and knowledgeable. Both of my kids (9 & 7) asked several questions and the staff made sure to answer every single one. The work that this place does is inspirational. When we were there, a call came in for a rescue of 3 more turtles and 2 of the staff members explained what was going on and what their role was in helping rescued animals (as they were getting their truck ready for the rescue). Such a great experience for my kids and myself. Tons of information on aquatic life and environmental issues that may effect habitats. A must do in Navarre Beach!

Visit the sea turtle with 2 small kids

By Randy K |

Small attraction with real life rescued sea turtle. Gift shop, bunch of aquariums with lion fish, turtles. Only 5$ and takes about 15 min to experience. Learn about preserving the turtles, beach, and the Florida marine life. All presented in a kid friendly way that is enjoyable. Great for small children with hands on activities. Outside of this attraction are picnic areas you can have lunch with your family.

Informative and Relaxing

By LoveBeaches1017 |

My daughter and I walked to the Conservation Center from our condo. It is a small place. When we went, we were the only people there. The volunteer was extremely generous with her time and knowledge. We watched Sweet Pea swimming around while the volunteer talked to us about Sweet Pea specifically and sea turtles in general. Learned that we should level our sandcastles when we leave the beach in the evening so that they don't become obstacles for the turtles. The other exhibits were interesting, also. We enjoyed watching the colorful fish they had in an aquarium. The gift shop, too, was fun. Lots of items to choose from, and they are reasonably priced. We really had a great time in a relaxed setting.

Sweet Pea

By PaleoGypsy |

Be aware that your GPS may or may not route you to the precise location. It may be off by 1/10th of a mile and put you in the opposite direction. On some days, the parking lot is full. Look for parking nearby this building. There is a huge turtle on exhibit outside of this center. The cost is $5.00 per adult admission. Sweet Pea takes centerstage at this center. She has the pool to herself. You may watch an employee feed Sweet Pea as another employee tells you about this turtle’s journey. A lot of the exhibits consist of plaques that you may read. Learn as much as you’d like about sea turtles. Learning about their challenges is interesting.

Fun for my grandsons

By lespower53 |

My grandsons, aged 2 and 5, loved this place. They enjoyed seeing Sweet pea, the sea turtle as well as the fish and jellies. The folks running this center were extremely nice and were great at answering questions. Little kids can only stay out in the sun so much. This was a great change of pace and educational. We will go back with our other grandchildren.

Anniversary Trip

By Lindsay J |

We went hoping to see a sea turtle but were sadly told they had to put her down due to health issue. We still toured the exhibit since all money goes to help sea turtles and I'm glad we did! They have a lot of information about sea turtles and hands on stuff. They have a few sea creatures - jellyfish, sea horse, and fish to view. I would recommend. There was also a big box turtle outside. Don't miss him! He looked lonely.

Great sea turtle conservatory! Highly recommend for all ages

By Deb K |

It is amazing how much they pack into one building. We arrived on a friday afternoon and even though there was a line to get in, they moved us along quickly. The staff is VERY knowledgeable and willing to answer all kinds of questions. I only wish they had more turtles to see. The "museum" part was packed full of great information. I found myself reading all the signs and displays and walked out with a much greater appreciation for sea turtles. Our group consisted of young and old and everyone had a great time. Highly recommend! (and their gift shop is superb too!)

Wonderful Visit! Loved Seeing Sweet Pea!

By JGL1973 |

This was a wonderful place to visit in Navarre and I applaud them for the work they are doing there. It’s very educational and seeing Sweet Pea was such an added bonus! She’s a very happy, spoiled girl and you can tell she’s taken care of! I’m so thankful they have given her a home. This is def a place worth visiting on your trip to the beach. You won’t be disappointed :)

WONDERFUL!!

By lynnboone |

I took my 4 little ones ages 3-7 to Shark School the day we left to head back home from vacation! It was 𝕎𝕆ℕ𝔻𝔼ℝ𝔽𝕌𝕃!! The kids loved it. The loved Sweet Pea, the sea turtle that lives there. And they learned more about why our trash can hurt sea animals. They learned so much about sharks, too and so did I!! And then they got to search for shark teeth in the sand and got to keep all of them. ( each child found several) Definitely worth it and another cool part is that all the proceeds from the gift shop go to their conservation efforts so I didn’t mind buying them all a souvenir.

Nice visit with a some turtles. Very informative

By 2cstuff |

This is a small but very informative place to visit. They have several animals to look at, including Sweet Pea, an injured green turtle that cannot be reintroduced to the wild. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and helpful and allow for an endless barrage of questions. It only costs $5 per person. Well worth it!

Worth a Visit

By ry18lee |

The center is small, but a fun little adventure and worth visiting. They have one resident sea turtle, because she cannot be returned to the wild, and the remainder of the center is more educational exhibits. My 4 year old enjoyed it, and we supported a great cause.

Turtles 🐢

By kissthepaw |

You will get an amazing interaction with lots of sea life along with much need information about sea turtles and their habitat.

Love sea turtles

By Shelly L |

The staff here are extremely knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our visit and seeing Sweet Pea. Very informative and the gift shop was great.

Lots of turtles

By xcaligirl |

Lots of turtles there and then swim towards you when they see you thinking they will be fed. Nice
place

Credit for their Conservation Efforts

By Gertexean |

Small, new facility - they were housing a blind sea turtle named Gigi. Seems like a great staff on board. Facility is only open a few hours a day, but very easy to find at the east end of Navarre Beach. Learned a few things - but due to the size of this building, it only takes approx. 1 hour to get through. But again, it was a good visit.

First visit to Navarre

By Sarah J |

Sweet Pea is in PCB with the vet, we were told upon arrival. It was not expensive, less than 20 for the 4 of us. The exhibits were small but educational and worth the trip. The items in the gift shop were well made and the staff was friendly.

Small but very interesting

By maryofnavarre |

This small sea turtle conservation center is packed full of interesting facts about the Gulf as well as Gigi, the sea turtle. Small admission fee and great gift shop. An hour is plenty of time and you won't regret it.

Unexpected find

By Safari663313 |

Was looking for something to this morning until it warned enough to go back on beach and came along this place. Who doesn’t. Like small and large turtles. Short self guided tour but Idid learn new things.

Cute place.

By Jennifer D |

Cute little place to visit. The people were very nice and informative. Kids enjoyed hearing about and seeing Sweat Pea and doing the scavenger hunt.

Kristen was so helpful and sweet! She has a passion for what she does, and did a great job! #sweetpeasupremacy

Must see exhibit.

By Bsspeer1 |

I am so happy we visited Sweet
Pea. Very educational and created an awareness of the dangers to our sea turtles.
This is a much stop in Navarre

A must see!

By Brittany Wood |

My husband and I love sea turtles so we knew we had to stop here! Sweet Pea, the injured green sea turtle, is adorable and very friendly! There is also an rescued tortoise outside named Safari. The volunteers are knowledgeable and answer any questions you have. It’s a must see for everyone! 🐢

It was ok. $5 a person

By dpb_96 |

Do not need more than 30 minutes for this. Very small area with a few fish and turtles. Do it one time and you’ll be good. Right on the beach though and workers were knowledgeable.

Sea Turtle upclose!

By Beachwalker29 |

Beautifully done edcuation center with Gigi the Loggerhead sea turtle as the star of the show. There are also many hands on interactive displays and a gift shop. Great for the whole family to see a large sea turtle up close.

Disappointing and Poor Documentation

By Hairy Peanut |

I just visited the sea turtle conservation Center with my children. This was my second visit with the last been about one year ago. I have an enormous of respect for these kind of conservation activities. Unfortunately, on this visit, their rescue sea turtle was not there. We were told it was “at the Veterinarian.” That circumstance is fine, but we only learned that after we had already paid our admission. Our young kids were very disappointed and the staff or volunteers simply directed us to a sign with small print saying sometimes the turtle will not be present. I appreciate the fact that the care of the turtle is the most important thing, but the sea turtle conservation Center is a tourist attraction and my extended family walked away feeling very disappointed. At the very least, they could’ve offered the opportunity for us to come back on another day when the turtle had returned. As it stood, we were ushered back to the other exhibits. It would’ve been a very simple thing for there to be a small sign that simply said that the turtle was not present. We may still have paid the admission and come in to do the other exhibits, but it would’ve been possible for us to prep the children to avoid an overall negative experience. This may not be the kind of complaint that anyone cares about, but I think It certainly has created a circumstance for our three families, that will result in us not returning. I would strongly encourage the sea turtle conservation center to disclose the status of their star attraction to avoid negative reviews like this one. Having said that, I would also encourage them to come up to good work and take care of our marine neighbors.

Nice local educational activity

By Michelle |

Our family enjoyed our visit here. The volunteers were great and knowledgeable. We had quite a few questions for them about the animals that they were happy to answer. There’s a cute gift shop inside. One of our children wanted to ‘dig’ for shark teeth (you buy a jar of sand and sift through it outside. All together, it probably took 30-45 minutes to get through everything, but we really took our time looking through all the the exhibits and digging for the shark teeth.

GETTING BETTER

By travelingdoc2015 |

N B S T C is a wonderful endeavour and is on its way to becoming something that will result in a very positive undertaking...best wishes

Missed the sea turtle being there

By STM0041 |

It was interesting learning about sea turtles. Their's was at the veterinarian recovering so we missed seeing it. This venue is probably better for those with young children. Plenty of hands on stuff for them to do.

Great for Small Kids

By Julie O |

Staff was friendly; we would have appreciated them telling us that two-piece swim tops are not allowed, (you must be covered-- be sure to wear a t-shirt in or cover with a towel) before you enter. We just came over from the beach, and it was a good center to visit for $5 each. It is kind of small, but it at least gives you an idea of what they do there.

Great place to visit

By Heather A |

A small refuge that does so much for the environment. Staff very knowledgeable and take the time to explain everything. There is a scavenger hunt for the kids and they learn so much.

Halloween

By Bill W |

Took the kids here during Halloween. They had face painting and candy give aways plus all the turtles and eco tour.

They had a great time playing Halloween games and learning at the same time. A great positive experience for Halloween.

Small, but Interesting Conservation Center!

By MKTBE |

The Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center is very small, but interesting and informative. The staff was very friendly and took the time to tell us the history and stories behind the sea animals in the exhibits. Some of the exhibits included: various land and water sea turtles, jellyfish and a few assorted fish. We also enjoyed the large, magnetic sea amimal puzzles! We missed the formal presentation, so it only took about 1/2 - 3/4 of an hour to tour! The fee is $5, with $1 military discount. There is also a small gift shop on site.

Awesome little attraction

By Jimmy W |

This was a great little attraction, the people were very nice and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend. It’s also very informative, while we were there they had rescued a blue crab from a restaurant that was going to be someone’s dinner.

Great indoor activity

By wedgelette |

A really great place to go on a rainy, windy day on the beach. It was really cool to see a sea turtle in real life and the staff was friendly and informative. A few other animals to see as well. I would say it would take about 45 minutes to go through and it is as advertised, so don't go and expect a huge aquarium.

Rain or shine-a must see!

By Teresa G |

We had planned on going to the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservatory-and so when we got rain we went. (but take the time to go even if it doesn't rain). The docent was highly knowledge and had a good sense of humor. You could tell he was passionate about protecting the turtles. We spent about 45 minutes there, learning about and watching Gigi, as well as viewing the displays and other ocean life. They had a scavenger hunt (one for younger kids and a different one for older kids-which I enjoyed doing as an adult) to keep the kids engaged also. Visit the gift shop to support the conservatory. Worth the $5 admittance.

Great collection of Sea Turtle stuff

By Brandon J |

There is only one turtle in the pool as of now. Shes blind and cant be with other turtles. We were hoping to see more turtles but we enjoyed seeing what we saw. Theres a lot of learning stuff for kids. My wife loves sea turtles so she had a smile. They have a nice gift shop as well.

This is a great place

By Ben R |

This is a great place to learn about what’s happening to the turtles in Florida, very informative very wonderful people that work here

Cute little stop for a hot day

By Rebecca M |

Quick little stop for our 2-8 year olds. Kids loved seeing “sweet pea” and the other animals in aquariums. Wouldn’t plan more than 45 minutes to an hour with small kiddos.

Fun and informative

By M S |

Great place to visit. Very informative and a fun place for kids and adults. Turtles can be very interesting Can visit on a rainy day or at heat of the day.

Panhandle Trip

By bpbmooring |

Really enjoyed this turtle center and seeing Sweet pea!! Feel bad for her, but the exhibits were interesting and informative. Well worth the admittance (Seniors $4.00 I think). All visitors to the area should see this and be more informed.

Cute little place, educational

By shellerRenee |

It started to rain so we had to find something indoors to do. This was a good choice, we gave our phone number and waited in the car because they can only have so many people in at a time. We met sweet pea the injured sea turtle. Learned some sea turtle facts, explored the exhibits, and bought some cute turtle stuff from the gift shop. Definitely something you should do while in Navarre!

A must see

By Rick H |

This is a must visit if your down at the beach, it’s a small place but brings a big message.
Sweet Pea is amazing and really emphasizes the message of conservation.
The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable.
Take the time and make a stop here

Worthwhile!

By vkreed |

This place is small, but an excellent way to spend some time plus support a very worthwhile cause. The volunteers who work there are happy to spend time talking and educating folks on the importance of conservation; the small cost of tickets and souvenirs go strictly to supporting the rescue. We got to learn about Sweet Pea and Safari, the two main rescued residents, and had a most enjoyable afternoon. Don’t bypass this!

Very Small

By Lindsey S |

It is not easy to be negative about a place that is a non-profit for something as amazing as sea turtles. However, my family was a little confused about why we needed to pay $35 for a 3 minute walk through a small little shack. Sweet Pea was there, and she was mighty adorable, then we were directed down a crowded hallway that looped right around to a gift shop. The gift shop then lead you right out of the door that you entered through. Like, huh? I appreciate the hard work of conserving these animals, but I feel like this "Center" is marketed as a tourist attraction (and priced like one too) but does not have the substance right now to satisfy paying tourists. I hope they never do, because that would mean wild sea turtles are thriving on their own and don't need assistance... but if you are putting word out there that you are a TURTLE CENTER, have some turtles for kids to look at.(?)

Unexpected treasure!

By Reba L |

We stopped in the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center just to check it out. It was so much more than I thought it would be. Their resident sea turtle passed away, but they are looking to get a new permanent turtle for their large salt water pool soon. There are beautiful tanks of all types of sea life and other types of turtles. Each animal has a name and is lovingly cared for by volunteers who are happy to share information. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours.

A nice place to spend an hour

By stormey29 |

We unfortunately stopped by on a day that Gigi the sea turtle was sick and not at the center, but we still enjoyed it. The staff is great, there are other small animals and exhibits for kids to check out. Hopefully, Gigi will be feeling better and be back soon. That would make the experience even better.

Great place to visit!!

By Jennifer F. |

Super cool place! So enjoyed visiting here and learning about their efforts to help sea turtles. We really learned a lot.

Small but nice.

By Orangebeach |

Overall it was an interesting stop. The staff was friendly and helpful. The 2 turtles that we saw were awesome. I did not know how big they can grow. Thank you for the care you give them. The jellyfish exhibit was beautiful.

Family bonding and adventures

By Rae G |

The center is not just for kids everybody should do it including adults is such an educational thing to do and be aware of the environment and how we can help the sea turtle and other marine mammals

Good start

By 617erinc |

This is a small, seemingly fledgling, sea turtle center. The 'tour' is mostly self guided and there is only one turtle in residence. Nothing like some of the other conservatories but there is big potential. As a long time turtle advocate we hope they keep up the good work growing and educating.

Cool experience

By JY18 |

It gets busy but they facilitate people in and out pretty quickly. Kids had a great time and in my opinion the talk is just right duration.

Visit Sweat Pea!

By Sean R |

First time visiting with my girlfriend, who has been many times. This is a great experience for anyone! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable; and the facility extremely clean. It is obvious this organization really cares about its cause. Seeing Sweat Pea swim after having so many injuries is awesome! Remember to support by visiting the gift shop and making a donation!

What a rip, and I don't mean riptide

By HMS59 |

We have been to other conservation places and were looking forward to it. What a rip. We were in and out in 22 minutes, and we read EVERYTHING. They have 5 -- count them, FIVE - turtles (one outside; a big one inside; and three small ones inside). I cannot believe that TA recommends 1-2 hours for this -- a center housed in a 30x60 foot building, half of which is a pool for the one big turtle.

I consider this a charitable donation, at best.

Must see!

By Connector470614 |

Make this one of your stops in Navarre Beach! Wonderful work they are doing there to preserve our sea turtles. Very interesting and educational, especially for children.

Wasn't open

By Brandon B |

We wanted to visit but it was closed and didn't see anything saying when it would be open. Looked as if it had been closed for sometime.

Sea turtles

By Sneed1208 |

Our family had a great time learning about the sea turtles and how to help. It was a great time and the staff was super friendly.

Small but very informative!

By Cletus57 |

Our family, which included 5 children and 8 adults stayed on Navarre Beach. We really enjoyed the Sea Turtle Reserve. Yes it is very small, however it is very informative and we visited there for an hour or so. It helped break up a rainy day. I would definitely recommend stopping and seeing Sweet Pea!

We Love Sweet Pea !!!

By dustinp036 |

This will be a regular stop when we come to Navarre Beach. Very clean and informative !! Loved seeing Sweet Pea in her personal pool swimming around. Lots of different exhibits ranging from turtles to seahorses and lion fish. For the reviews that say it was “ok” and it was small, keep in mind that this is a rescue and not Sea World. We will definitely be back !!!

Family Fun

By Larry T |

This attraction is interesting and educational. See local sea life and some that were rescued. Located on the gulf and plenty of parking. Kids will enjoy too.

Quaint nature stop

By 919angeliaw |

The place is small but a really big pool inside featuring a green sea turtle. Interesting small educational spot but charming as well. $5 donation per person as you walk in and cute gift shop inside. Nice to give a few dollars to support a good cause.

Wonderful Experience

By Sarah R |

We spent an hour at the NBSTCC just before they closed. We were super impressed by the kid and knowledgeable volunteers. They had a treasure hunt that all three of my girls 9, 11, and 14 enjoyed completing. We all learned new things. I also enjoyed the small gift shop which had a lot of local art and a few books and toys. At first the entry fee seemed a little high for such a small museum, but after experiencing it, we were happy to support their work. We loved Sweetie Pie the sea turtle. ❤️

Small place but was informative

By MISTY C |

We stopped here to see the sea turtles. They only had 1 (Sweet Pea). It was a very short stop. $5 per person entry. The building was small - you may only spend 30 min here.

Wonderful staff

By JoyfulMommy |

We really enjoyed our visit and the staff was wonderful. They had a scavenger hunt for the children and they received a bracelet upon completion. It’s a nice little place to visit when you’re in Navarre Beach.

Good people doing good things!

By Tim A |

We had been planning since our last trip to Destin to come see this place .We were glad we did. The compassion they have for the turtles shines brightly. The young lady talking with the crowd and explaining everything did a really good job. And seeing the injured turtle really brings home the need for this place to exist. (Dont forget to use red lights on the beach at night). Come and support them and buy some of the stuff in the shop too! The shirts are awesome .

Informative

By beachbum0285 |

This building is small but our grandson had a wonderful time there. They had a turtle they were caring for called Sweet Pea. He just loved that turtle. It made him aware of turtle conservation

Love this place!

By Matt A |

I did the painting experience with Safari the tortoise. Keep in mind, this will be done at 8am, before they officially open. If you do this, keep moving so that Safari spreads the paint around! They have a great setup, Sweet Pea is adorable, and if you're "lucky" you may get to see a wild sea turtle that has been rescued.

No Sea Turtle

By RochaPhelpsFamily |

The sea turtle, Giving, was sick and away at another facility. Without her this was not worth $5 per person as there are very few displays. The volunteers were very friendly though.

Unexpected Surprise

By Toni M |

We have two young children and thought we would pop in to cool off after a day of fun at the beach. We did not expect for member of the family to have such a great time.
The staff was amazing as well as knowledgeable, and thanks to a very sweet lady we had a personal experience with one of the turtles. I was super impressed with how clean the facility was and well these caring people love the turtles that have been rescued. We also got a lot of useful information on turtle preservation and marine wildlife. My two year old cried to go back for an hour after we left!

It is truly a must see while in Navarre and I hope they continue the fantastic work! ❤️

Enjoyable time

By Ebony K |

Small but full of educational material. My kids enjoyed reading about conservation efforts for the sea turtles and what we can do to help. Great location right by the beach.

Slightly informative

By Vwmark |

This small exhibit is informative about the lives of local sea turtles. There was no actual sea turtle on exhibit. The person who was at the admission desk told us ahead of time, which is good to know. We enjoyed visiting all the same and had a good time chatting with the docents, who were marine biologists.

Save the turtles!

By SMac_journey |

Wonderful little place! Very educational and provided lots of material on turtle habitat and awareness! Loved Sweet Pea!

Interesting exhibit

By Tom W |

The exhibit has great staff. All were very informative and quick to answer any questions you have.

The main exhibit was Gigi, a blind loggerhead turtle. The young lady who worked with Gigi shares lots of interesting stories. Gigi spent some time at SeaWorld when she was recovering.

There's exhibits about Navarre beach's sea life. We enjoyed watching the staff feed the sea horses.

I was fascinated by the history of the major hurricanes which struck the area.

The admission fee is $5. It takes about an hour to see.

Eh

By SkyDragonfly |

The volunteers are enthusiastic, caring, and knowledgeable. Emily told us about the turtle GiGi and Lisa gave some area information that was great too. Certainly they do have wonderful volunteers here. In Texas I visited something similar to this and there was many turtles to see there. Here the main thing to see, and support with your admission price, is GiGi the turtle. There's a few other things to see and learn about here and they do have a gift shop but it's really not much to see IF you're on a budget and planning family activities. IF you're not on a budget then popping in to see this tiny place may be a great choice for you.

Cute

By Cassie K |

Cute but very small. But the gift shop is amazing and has a lot of original art. I had to buy a tiny turtle lol

Small but cute

By James and Debra |

It’s a small exhibit but we thought it was worth it. Sweet pea is their main sea turtle. The guide talked about her injuries. Hopefully people who go will think more about their choices in plastic and recycling after seeing this poor babies injuries.

Small and informative

By Jennifer B |

We were referred by family who live in Navarre to check out this marine center. We brought our 2 year old daughter who loved Gigi, especially when she was active. There is a small marine life exhibit with information on birds, shells, fish, and sea turtles, as well as marine conservation. I would recommend this to those interested in learning more about sea turtles and even those with young children.

Touch a turtle and feel the life of the sea!!!!

By maferrill |

A wonderful place to stop and spend an hour or two visiting this wonderful place for Turtle
Very thoughtfully designed for the care and treatment of these wonderful sea creatures. Bright, cheerful and a very nice place to visit!!! Always worth a moment to remember the innocents of these friends to man/woman and those creatures around them.
The money you pay to enter this facility continues to pay for the upkeep the maintenance and care of these creatures. Always a joy to visit young or old. Come again often!!!

Cool Experience

By mssoellegant |

I took my 3 kids after leaving the beach and it was a very nice educational experience although there was a discrepancy with cost. Upon arrival I believe there was a sign that said donations are accepted but we were all charged before entering. My only problem is that the family that came in behind us was not charged. I would be prepared to pay if you go.

Neat place

By CAMOGIRL1974 |

Neat and interesting place to visit. I’d recommend it. Sweet pea is the center of attention- she is the sea turtle. There are a few other creatures there and a gift shop. By the way the soap is great from the gift shop. If you are in the area stop by.

Impressive Center

By emcy333 |

You would not imagine that such a great display of information and a gift shop with great products would be in this little building, but there is! Sweet Pea the rescued turtle is housed here along with excellent displays about turtles, beaches and marine life. The gift shop offers items from local artists (jewelry, photographs and paintings) along with the usual products like t-shirts, cups and caps. The volunteers are friendly and helpful. I am glad that we made a stop here!

very interesting

By Nancy F |

It is worth the admission to tour this museum. Our kids especially enjoyed all the exhibits. We had fun looking at all the marine life. It wasn't crowded when we were there so it made it easy to view everything.

Conservation learning experience

By Amy N |

Great visit on fall break. We learned about Sweet Pea, the sea turtle as well as conservation efforts. Sales from the gift shop go straight back to the center. Great stop in between beach time.

Amazing!

By Jessica A |

This facility is small so don't expect to spend even an hour there, but it's a beautiful building. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there are games and hands on things for the little ones. Also getting to see a live sea turtle up close is amazing! I recommend it.

Never opened

By Deborah G |

We have been in Navarre, FL for a week and the Sea Turtle Conservatory has been closed every day. I hope that everything is ok with them; just couldn't get in.

Very interesting

By Tony B |

It was a nice break from the heat and beach time with environmental education about the turtle ecosystem. The lady who gave the talk was very passionate about Sweet Pea and the turtles. We understand the importance of the turtles and their nesting but, didn't like the chastisement of the kids and the nightly crabbing on the beach. Do you really want turtles nesting next to high rise condos when there are miles and miles of undeveloped beaches down the island? It just seems like it would be safer for them to nest down the road farther. The price was very nominal thanks to corporate sponsors and volunteers and the displays and gift shop was nice.

Jeff Baker

By Jeff B |

This was my second visit to this conservation center and I cannot recommend it highly enough to do it justice. The work they do is fantastic, the staff is super-friendly, and the facility itself is fun and educational for any age. Kids love it, but I am 65 and stood at an interactive display with another gentleman at least as old as me and we carried on a conversation about how much information we were getting and it was very enjoyable! Don’t miss this center if you are at all close whether you live in Florida or are just visiting! 🐢 👍 👏

So much fun! A must do!

By Amber C |

My kids LOVED going! My 13 year old requested we go but my 6 year old ended up having the most fun! We learned so much! And enjoyed the gift shop at the end!

Small But Interesting

By Donna E |

Passed this place every time we went to or left our rental on the beach. My husband and I decided to stop in. It is very small but was, to us, very interesting. Unfortunately, the star attraction, Gigi, the blind loggerhead sea turtle, passed away in June. But the woman who welcomed us into the building gave us a history of what was known about Gigi's life and it made me happy to know she had been loved and pampered the last two years of her life. Anyway, there is a small fee to enter, but we didn't mind. The ladies who were there working were so nice and friendly and the few exhibits they had were informative. I'm glad we visited and want to thank the ladies for the work they do and for making us feel like we were good friends.

Absolutely a Must Visit

By Vic A |

Suring our family getaway to mary Rstet/Fort Walton Beach we visited and learned much not only about the turtles (in season) laying eggs on local beaches, but birds too. This is a perfect outing for the family.

Special place!

By Willtravelforfood84 |

The sea turtles are very interesting. The staff are friendly and informative. We gained a whole new perspective about sea turtles and sea creatures in general. Cute gift shop inside and from my understanding they use the proceeds to rescue sea turtles. Highly recommend visiting with the kids!

Awesome visit

By Momtoglife |

While traveling home from visiting family for Christmas we made plans to stop by the conservation center. My kids and I were not disappointed. From the moment we stepped inside the staff were simply awesome. Kaitlyn gave tons of information about sea turtles and how the conservation center was helping them. Such an amazing place and how fortunate we are to have people looking out for these beautiful creatures. My girls loved all the hands on activities like the turtle bones in the pull out cabinet and the shell and coral table with magnifying glasses. There were a few more outdoor ones but it was too cold and windy that day to do those. Maybe on our next trip. The gift shop was neat and there were so many treasures and souvenirs to choose from. Johnette was super helpful in showing my daughters the different items and helping them decide which ones to pick. A few items were handmade with shells, sand, and small pieces of driftwood from Navarre beach. Those were my favorite. Keep up the great work! We will definitely be visiting this center again and can’t wait to see sweet pea again as well!

Learning about sea life

By 297jeniferv |

Very small but neat place to see if you like sea turtles. Sad to see the resident one they had Gigi had passed. Employees very knowledgeable and offer a lot of education on marine life. Small fee to get in , offers military discount. Gift shop has a lot of cute items , very reasonably priced. Located on Navarre beach so after viewing you can hang on the beach for the day !

WONDERFUL!

By AnnoraGilliss |

AMAZING experience! We and our kiddos had a fun time, especially considering how kind and engaging the staff/volunteers are! We all learned valuable information about sea turtles, our oceans and best practices moving forward to ensure the future of the beloved animals that call our oceans “home”.

Interesting

By Heidi S |

Loved seeing the Sea turtle and learning about their way of life. Would suggest this attraction to people of all ages . Great facility and very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Worth a stop

By man0ske |

If you happen to be at Navarre Beach, the Sea Turtle Conservation Center is worth a stop. It is small, but enjoyable. It is next to the beach and air conditioned, so can provide a break from the beach or quick shelter during a rainstorm. And considering the small space they have to work with, they have made it interesting and engaging for both adults and kids.

Fun for the whole family.

By Paula J |

Great group of folks doing an amazing job. The educational and self guided tour only takes about 30-45 minutes. The best few bucks you'll spend while here.

Fun, educational activity

By Oakbug |

Friendly staff and good exhibits. Not enough parking but great fun for kids. Great to see their efforts for sea turtles.

Spent the morning learning about sea turtles

By CAA |

This small building holds an amazing group of people dedicated to our sea life and educating folks on the best practices to protect them.

Simple but Inexpensive

By Cherriesontheweb |

We were told about this place by a ranger at nearby Fort Pickens, and we were glad we made the drive. The conservation center is a very simple facility with only a few displays, but the staff is quite informative and their drive to provide a home for their resident sea turtle and other creatures is admirable. Plan to spend atleast an hour because Gigi, the resident sea turtle, can take that long to rest between coming to the surface of the pool to take a breath. For some in our party it was their first sea turtle encounter, so well worth the $5 admission. The gift shop has unique, handmade items for purchase. The area around the facility is mostly just beach, so it is one of the only things to do besides sunbathe and swim on Navarre, a community that prides itself on its lack of chain restaurants and touristy shops.

Educational, inspiring and entertaining!

By GoPlaces767518 |

Sweetpea, the rescued sea turtle was a complete joy to be around...she makes eye contact with you, and looks soo pleasantly content in her pool- the rest of the center was so very interesting and well put together! The African tortoise outside was just beautiful and heathly looking; I can't wait to bring my friends and family to tour and visit!

Love sea turtles, love this place!!

By Carolyn G |

Amazing little place, all about educating you about sea turtles and helping to keep them safe. There's a turtle inside that you can see (last year was a rescued blind turtle, this year is a poor sweetie that's missing a flipper), who wouldn't survive in the wilds, after having been rehabbed, . Lots of education about sea turtles and other ocean creatures, the ravages of hurricanes that have hit within the last years.. It makes you appreciate the impact we've had on our oceans, and makes you run after a plastic bag you see heading towards the ocean!..It then means so much if you're lucky enough see a sea turtle in the wild (go out on the pier for a better chance!)! Good for any age, wonderful way to spend the day (closed on Sundays and Mondays)! I go every year!

Educational and Fun Place in Navarre Beach

By tedlong29 |

I live in the area and came here for the first time back in the Fall of 2020. Needless to say I was very impressed. The facility is small but packed with information and a very informative staff that you can tell has a passion for what they do. The work they do here is extremely beneficial to the wildlife in our area. Whether you are a local or vacationing here, I highly recommend visiting here and supporting the great work this facility does. It's fun, educational and if you have kids they will absolutely love it.

Support Sweat Pea and conservation

By tscheblo |

Consider this an educational opportunity. The kids participating in our group had excellent questions. We had witnessed a sea turtle(Kemps Ridley)rescue on the Navarre fishing pier on Monday night and felt the need to learn more. Sweet Pea, the lone resident green sea turtle, has suffered damage but seemed perfectly at home swimming around and serving as the ambassador for conservation. This activity doesn’t take a lot of time and it helps support an endangered species. I recommend a visit!

Summer vacation

By dori m |

We took a break and went to visit this place because we thought they would have a bunch of sea turtle. It is not worth the $5 fee they charge to see one sea turtle Sweet Pea and a few fish. If you want to see some turtle visit the Peoria instead and it is $1.

Only saw one turtle with a broken shell

By cme43wishes |

Did not get to see the whole conservation building because it was a fundraiser kids day and were charging $5 per person to enter. We saw one sea turtle with a broken shell swimming in a tank, and decided the $5 admission was not worth it

Learn the survival challenges of sea turtles.

By Terry B |

Interesting look into the challenges sea turtles encounter usually due in part to environmental pollution and human trash. Small but informative museum. Allow an hour plus.

Closed, did not update online

By Syd |

Closed but said they were open online. Very rude staff answered the phone, we drove an hour to visit after flying in for the day. Very disappointing trip.

Teen visit after Christmas

By Kathleen M |

We visited with all 5 kids 21 to 11, and they enjoyed very much, and we did the scavenger hunt in pairs with their dad. Loved the interaction only downside it said in a review they would get a shark tooth if completed but instead got a rubber band bracelet. Which was a little disappointing, but we still very much enjoyed sweet pea and what we learned. Enjoyed the videos of the hatching and hatchling.

OKay

By bayoumcgyver |

Brought my grandkids here to see the sea turtles...problem was. there was only 1 sea turtle. It is a rescue, which was nice, but to be honest I was expecting more. Cost is $5 a head and there a few exhibits to interest the kids. I enjoyed the seahorse aquarium as they were being fed. A small gift shop with some nice items that were bought for the kids. It was air conditioned so on a hot day it's a place to cool off.

A great cause

By Dawn H |

The visit was very informative. The star of the show was Sweet pea, a three flipper green loggerhead turtle. The message was when fishing, take up your fishing line.what happened to Sweet pea was that he got tangled up in fishing line and had to have a flipper amputated as he was in extreme pain. He has adapted well, but he will never be able to return to the ocean.

Nice Place to see

By cwa62 |

We stopped by to learn about the sea turtles. We were very pleased with the information that was available ,

Turtle rescue

By AnnElizabeth97123 |

Only one sea turtle to see here. Admission is by tour only that happens every 20 minutes and fill up quickly (wait was an hour out when I was there on a Tuesday). There was no shade to wait in as their shade was destroyed on a storm. Very educational and a good mission.

Nice place

By Lisa L |

This is a great place for adults and children to learn about sea turtles and other species that live here. Nice staff too.

very educational, fun and interesting!

By travelwimama |

We fell in love with Sweet Pea (turlte), Safari, and Flip Flop (tortoises) and my son also loved the terrapin, which inspired him to learn more on his own. My boys are 11 & 13 and did the free "scavenger hunt" quiz and learned so much. The volunteers there have a passion and are so knowledgeable.
The gift shop items are priced reasonably and some items are significantly cheaper than items in local shops, plus this goes to support such a great mission.
My boys walked almost every day to see Safari and Flip Flop, who are outdoors and there's no cost for admission to see them. They were so impressed with Sea Pea that they begged my husband to go meet her (he was working the day we originally went).
We went right at noon, and no other guests were there. They are strict about distancing and masks, which we greatly appreciated.
We now like them on Facebook and plan to buy things off of the Amazon wishlist for them from time to time.
Thank you for all you do and teaching us to love and be fascinated by sea turtles!

One Turtle

By banker1550 |

A little spot off the beach to kill some time. Nice enough but small. Only one turtle in the pool, but an interesting introduction to turtles in the adjoining room. Don't expect a full sanctuary or a real museum, but an interesting diversion.

Learned A Lot!

By msudoc1495 |

My wife suggested we go to see the sea turtle. Honestly I was not to enthused to go look at a turtle, but if your on vacation and your wife says let’s see a sea turtle, you go see a sea turtle. I kept an open mind. I learned so much about sea turtles and sweet pea tugged a bit on my heart strings. It also drew attention to my actions and the actions of my neighbors with regard to plastics! Did you know Green Sea Turtles can live about 50 years?! Grow to 325 lb? Go and learn you will not be disappointed.

Gigi visit!

By Kayla D |

Wonderful staff made the visit even better! Jam packed with great information about turtles, sea life, and has amazing exhibits!! It's a must visit in Navarre!!

Friendly people, lots of information

By Cynthia J |

This is a small place staffed by helpful and cheerful volunteers. The main turtle was gone on sick leave -- but the staff took time to help us understand more about the turtles.

Cute, Educational, but maybe 10 fish and 4 seahorses.

By IsabelleElsa |

Cute, would be a big hit for little ones. They have about 10 fish, and 4 seahorses, and claim to have a turtle named 'Sweet Pea' that has been at the veterinarian since early July? Admission is cheap and proceeds go to animals so it's something to do on a hot day.

Very neat place!

By Bnunnery |

This place is a must visit in Navarre. My kids loved learning about the turtles and ocean. Be sure to do the Shark Tooth Treasure Hunt!

Wonderful experience for grandsons

By SealArkansas |

Had seen the building but hadn't stopped until this year. So very glad we did! Interesting information with a great staff that were highly knowledgeable and great with the kids. Wonderful leaning experience for entire family. Hands on things for the kids. They also let you borrow sand toys for the day at the beach!

For the love of Turtles

By Staciajc |

IF you are expecting a big museum or aquarium, this is not the place for you. But it's only $5 to get in - and that helps a turtle or 2 - so go anyway! Sweetpea is adorable and swims happily around her tank in the lobby. The staffer told us her story and we took pictures of her and watched her swim with that one good flipper.
Then we ventured in to the "museum" part of the house and read about different turtles and saw exhibits on how long it takes certain things to dissolve in the ocean. 5 years for ONE cigarette butt!!! OMG!!! This was a great place to linger as they have a few other creatures in tanks and lots of stuff in the gift shop to discover. We loved it - but we LOVE TURTLES!!!!!!!!

Go see Gigi!

By Herrin79 |

Great small conservation center with a sea turtle named Gigi. Gigi was swimming and active when we visited. There are other types of turtles, seahorses and fish to watch as well. The staff is friendly and very helpful and informative. The gift shop is full of great treasures - many local crafted items. Great stop!

A Great Place to Stop by and Learn

By PrincessLaundry |

Our family loves the NBSTCC. Very relaxed place to visit and ask questions. It is a small but cozy family of mostly volunteers. Some hands on activities available and great for kids. Watch their website for upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and community happenings which they will be at. This is how we found them!

Grandkids love it

By tuttlesth |

Have gone several times with the grandkids. Great guides and hands-on exibits. Will be going back this Spring.

A must see

By Heather M |

Priced reasonably $5 per person. They do offer military discounts. Very informative. I have teenagers and the whole family learned a lot about turtles. Saw the resident turtle swimming in his pool.

Good things come in small packages

By soggyfred |

Spent about an hour at this well done center learning about Sweet Pea and other sea turtles and and how to protect their seas. Friendly staff. Interesting information. Go see!

Love the Sea Turtle

By iowaloves2travel |

This was a nice place for a short visit. They had one sea turtle and some jelly fish. There were a few displays for education. This is not a large location. There were several families there and the staff took questions from the children. It was a nice way to spend an hour.

No Sweet Pea was at vet

By Ken D |

Didn’t get to see Sweet Pea she was at the Ver. They told us when we arrived and had a sign in her pool. We still decided to visit and our boys did enjoy it. It’s not big and we knew that going in. The cost of $5 each without seeing Sweet Pea was no big deal. Money goes to help rescue these beautiful creatures anyway 🤷🏼‍♂️. It was a good visit staff were very friendly!

Interesting and informative

By 123sh456 |

While small, the center had great info and our "guide" was very knowledgeable and able to quickly answer all questions. Exhibits were interactive and interesting.

Underwhelming

By Seth G |

I guess it’s okay for a rainy day but we waited for about 30 minutes to see a single sea turtle l. The place is super small and can see the whole thing in about 5 minutes. Only $5 per person though.

Meet Sweet Pea

By Jerri L |

We stopped in while exploring Navarre Beach to check out the Conservation Center. There is a minimal fee $5 for entrance to the area which includes the indoor educational displays, a gift shop and a short “tour talk” introducing you to Sweet Pea, the green turtle who has been adopted and serves as ambassador in residence after being found in the beach severely injured. Meeting Sweet Pea was a big portion of the visit. The center has a mission to educate people on the importance of sea turtles and to help instill a sense of responsibility for conservation, emphasizing the damage human behaviors can and are having on threatened and endangered species. There is outdoor area as well with displays but not sure if it was because of visiting in the off season (January) or what, the outside area seemed to be in need of work and was lacking.

Shark School

By Meagan B |

We took our 9 year old son to shark school. It was very informative. The biologist leading the class had great personality, seemed knowledgeable, and was great with the kids. I recommend this class for kids 10 & under for a fun morning activity.

Amazing Place to Visit

By Landon Shadinger |

My wife and I had the opportunity to visit Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center as an activity to do on our way home from an anniversary trip in Destin. It is very much worth it to book the hands-on, private tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and taught us many things we never knew know before visiting. Seeing and learning about the resident sea turtle Sweet Pea, feeding 2 of the outside turtles Safari and Flip Flop, as well as the other portions of the tour made this a great encounter. If you or anyone in your family love animals this makes it an awesome place to visit, young or old. We actually enjoyed our trip to the NBSTCC more than our visit to the Destin Gulfarium just 2 days before. The dolphins, penguin, and other animals at the Gulfarium are neat but none of that really compares to the experience you’ll get with a private tour of Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center. Don’t let the small size of this place fool you! The center is packed with tons of great information and is an adventure like no other. It’s a must if you’re ever in the area.

Great activity for all ages when it is time for a beach break.

By Valerie S |

Knowledgeable & caring staff. They are doing amazing things for the sea turtles and rehabilitation for the injured. Sweet Pea is adorable and fun to watch swim around her tank.

Shark School

By joyous-traveler2015 |

Enrolled 9 of my grandchildren from a12 - 4 year-old in Shark School while they were in town. I was their adult supervisor & we all learned a lot. Lots of interesting information & a fun activity at the end to find shark teeth. Would recommend for children over 6…the 4 & 5 year olds got a bit antsy during the long presentation but loved sifting through the sand for the teeth! The conservator was clean & well arranged. The good bags were honestly just things the kids would throw away. I did laminate the sea shell ID paper so the children could keep that & learn to identify the shells they were finding on the Navarre Beach.

OK Experience

By smeyers2014 |

It was interesting, but it was very small. It only cost $5 to get in, but that's about all I'd be willing to pay. They do have someone who stands around the turtle tank to share a tiny bit of information about "Sweet Pea" (I think that's her name.). The kids enjoyed the attendant that took one of the turtles out of the aquarium so that they could pet him. There are a few tanks of fish and jelly fish. I don't think most people would spend more than 30-45 minutes there. Small gift shop at the end of the tour, but it is stocked with some very nice things. Worth a one-time trip.

Wonderful fun

By Shana H |

A great place to learn and have fun at same time. The displays were bright and fun. Love seeing the different local animals in the tanks. The sea turtle is so cool to see swimming! Great for getting out of the sun on a hot day. Gift shop had cute items too.

Gee Gee the 35 year old, blind sea turtle.

By Kathy J |

Need to visit her and get a quick lesson on how important it is to protect the native wildlife and see Gee Gee in her forever home.

Well Worth The Stop

By mrtjl |

Enjoyed seeing the turtles and the exhibits which are very well done- the staff are so nice to talk to also. And it’s not a big facility just the right size for a good tour.

A hidden gem

By Candiann |

Such a hidden gem and so worth it! My whole family including my 6 year old loved learning about sweet pea and other sea turtles. I would recommend to anyone. Also you get a bucket of sand for $10 to sift for sharks teeth, we found 9 and other small shells from Navarre beach. Parking is tight but they have a turtle shuttles to get you there. And the best part all money spent goes to the conservation center.

New fan of Turtles

By Americana29 |

These people are passionate about these sweet creatures and rightfully so. Meeting Sweet Pea the resident sea turtle was a truly enlightening experience. The staff was willing to spend as much time and you needed to talk and educate visitors to the plight of survival of these lovely creatures.

Family friendly!!!

By Andrea K |

Great experience, especially for the price. Lots of very good information for all ages. You could make a whole day of this, or you could do it in an hour. Great for our family of multiple ages.

A great little conservation center!

By Jessica S |

My 6 year old and 4 year old and I had a great time at the Conservation Center. We learned about sea life, injured turtles, the importance of keeping our bodies of water clean, etc. We did puzzles - large magnetic wall puzzles of sea turtles. We visited the injured sea turtle. The kids loved the outdoor bin of used beach toys rescued from the beach - items that people had left. We borrowed some during our trip and dropped them off when we left. There is a nice little gift shop as well.

Nice place for a quick visit

By Glenn R |

This can be considered a donation, so the admission price ($5/$4 senior) is really not an issue. Not much to see. one sea turtle and some fish and smaller turtles, but the staff was very friendly and informative, eager to explain any questions and so this was a nice, little diversion for an hour or so.

Glad we went to see SweetPea

By Crystalske |

Our favorite part of the experience was hearing the story about Sweat Pea. I saw some people complained in a rating about not much to do for the money so I was prepared but my family and I loved it. My husband said he expected more but was happy with what it was and was one of the best things we did. I think if your a nature/conservation loving family you will enjoy it but it your wanting a lot of entertainment you will not.

really cool place to learn about turtles.

By cowboys1960 |

If you like beach eco systems this is the place to learn stuff. Kids will love this too. Easy in and out and plenty of parking the day we went.

When is this place open?

By DaronDyer |

Been to Navarre Many times. At least three times a year. Every time we drive by. Cars are there, but they are never open?

kids wonderland

By corvette-teddy |

this is a very nice place too take your kids as well as adults very educational for all You can see a few live sea creatures as well

Worth the stop in!

By Lindsay R |

We love this little conservation center. However, we were disappointed that Sweet Pea wasn’t there. This is our third year in a row to try to come see her with no luck. But, we will try next year! We did get to visit with Safari and the kids loved that. They also enjoyed the scavenger hunt throughout the building.

Granddaughters first trip to Beach

By Greatsmag |

My wife & I have made a couple visits to The Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island, so she was excited to bring our granddaughter to the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center. We were both very surprised at how small the Center was and how very little was offered, espicially after paying a $5/person entry fee. The building probably was the size of a small house and offered just 2 turtles for our granddaughter to see. Another major problem with this center is the complete lack of parking. I dropped the family off near the door and ended up parking at a beach parking lot 1/2 mile a way to the center.

I guess if I had never been to another Sea Turtle Center, I wouldnt have known any better, but for the same price, the center on Jekyll Island drawfs this center and offers dozens of Sea Turtles! The personnel here at Navarre Beach were very friendly & knowledegable, and what little they offered in their museum/display area was well dispayed. If you have never visited a Sea Turtle Center, Navarre Beach will give you a good introduction, but if you are serious about wanting to see Sea Turtles, check out Jekyll Island.

Great start up

By Alison F |

This place is a great place to learn about sea turtles and all kinds of turtles. It's still quite new but the compassion for the turtles is felt. Great educational opportunities

Short sea turtle Visit

By Donna M |

Really small and only 1 live sea turtle in a big pool but a few other attractive displays with information. Mostly info about sea turtles. Informative and attractive but short visit. The guide was informative. Was expecting more.

Great Spot!

By Taylor M |

Had some quick fun here with the family. This is a quick stop 25-30 minutes maximum. Kids learned a little bit about the sea turtles and my youngest was very excited to see one in a pool. Highly recommend a quick stop here. It is for a great cause.

Worth the visit

By Kmglmt |

Kids age 6 & 11. Very touch friendly exhibit. Box turtle crawling inside. Very friendly staff. Nice gift shop. Kids loved scavenger hunt and magnetic puzzle wall. Wish it had been warm enough to go check out the man made reef and snorkel. We will be back.

Small Space, Big Information

By Lo S |

We're from Texas, so we've been to the sea turtle rescue in South Padre Island, which is amazing. The Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center does a brilliant job of educating the public. It's different in that it's purpose is not to rescue and rehabilitate sea turtles. Instead, the small center is packed with important information about sea turtles and how we (humanity) can help them to thrive. It's a place to learn about how WE make an impact on the lives of other living beings and there are simple but effective changes we can each make, which collectively can make a huge impact (like not digging and leaving holes on the beach, not using plastic bags which can create entanglements and/or choking hazards, etc.- to learn more go and learn for yourself!) There was a lovely sea turtle in a large pool of water who cannot be released because she's blind. There was an intern there the day we went (I'm so sorry I cannot remember her name), but she was an excellent resource for information. She was able to answer all of my questions. For $5, it's well worth it; remember you're contributing to a good cause.

Small little place but very informative and worth a trip!

By LydiaM24 |

This is a small place and doesn't take much time to go through but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My 1 year old especially loved watching Sweet Pea swimming. She tried to climb the fence to get in with her haha! But it's quite informative and they are really doing a great service. I hope more people continue to go to educate about how cool sea turtles are and how important conservation is.

Very Interesting!

By STLDood |

We've been to Navarre many times so were excited to see this new addition. It was very interesting and inexpensive to tour. Didn't take long to see everything, but it gave us much to think about as far as what humans are doing to endanger the species.
