This is a beautiful area to visit. Nice beach small town with two main streets. One is beachside with small shops, restaurants, very quaint. The other is on mainland also with shops restaurants. They’ve managed to keep the small town feel.

Awesome beach that stretches for miles. Warm water in the summer and fall, plenty of lifeguards, very little undertow. Take a surfing lesson. Drive on the beach. Visit the restaurants, shops, and bars along Flagler Avenue. Stargaze at night. The possibilities are endless.

While it was chilly and windy the day we were here this is still a great beach to walk. It is well kept and cars are allowed to drive on the beach. Not a lot of winter action but I am positive this is a happening summer attraction.

For most brits this will be off the beaten track
But 20 miles south of Daytona and an hour and half from Orlando
It's well worth the visit
No high rise buildings on Flagler avenue heading to the beach so looks like colonial America still
Get yer self over

Nice beach. Many people walk in the mornings and all day long. The sand dunes open up into a long stretch of sand beach. Very nice light colored sand. This is a nice spot to visit and take the family or go for a vacation with your significant other or friends.

We enjoyed the beach, it was clean and the sunrise was beautiful. What was plain to see was the racial bigotry all over from the locals. One individual tried to ram my wife with his shoulder, until I intervened and he coward away. If you enjoy a place where there is intolerance of color and heritage. This is the place for you.

This beach off of 27th Ave is by far my favorite and I've been coming to this area for many years and used to live in the area as well! It has a beautiful Ocean front park with picnic tables, a play area for kids, restrooms and outdoor showers to rinse off the sand after a day at the beach! They have the side where you can drive on the beach and the side where you can enjoy the beach (esp. with young children), where you don't have to worry about the safety with cars! The only "gripe" I have is that they are charging now to even just park in the lot that used to be free! Even during these colder months that I visited! I was annoyed that I would have to pay $10.00 to just park and walk the beach for a short while! This fee is acceptable I suppose, in the warm months if you're going to stay all day at the beach, but not good for those who just want stay a bit and stroll the beach!

Had such a great time in New Smyrna! It was my first time visiting and I am planning another trip next month! Beautiful vibrant beach town with lots of restaurants , bars, and shopping, as well as a beautiful beach that you can drive on. We rented chairs and umbrellas from private vendors at the beach for the day. Very walkable town, but easy to get an Uber too if needed. Definitely check out The Garlic for dinner!

Visiting here for the first time and I have no idea what is special about this place. The beach is not expansive and not powdery-you walk on shells. The water is typical of the area, not clear or blue. Not much going on here at all. If you are looking for a peaceful family spot with wide soft sandy beaches, St. Augustine Beach is much prettier. If you want clear water, go further south. If you want action and energy, I'd choose Miami. If you like beauty, I'd go to the gulf side. Florida has so much to offer, I can't imagine gravitating to this area.

The beach is an island with two bridges. On the weekends there is total traffic gridlock going to and from the beach and on the island. The beach is a long way from the major highways and you find out when you get close to the beach it's closed due to no parking. There ought to be signs saying the beach is full before you exit. It is too crowded. If you stay overnight and walk the beach at the end of the day you see how much trash the people parking on the beach leave. There are diapers, water bottles, chip bags, cigarette butts, cans and other picnic remnants. it's disgusting and shameful people leave their trash on the beautiful beach.

A friend recommended that I visit NSB.
I can say I am so glad I did ..
I just fell in love from the moment I arrived .
It happened to be bike week but even with all that was going on I had a blast !
The locals where so nice , every restaurant and bar I went to absolutely great service , every where I ate had delicious food .
And talk about feeling safe , I left my room unlocked the whole time at the hotel I stayed in.. not saying anyone should nor recommending that anyone should . Just using as an example how safe it is .. lots to do and close to St. Augustine and Daytona ..
I highly recommend NSB..

Although we have a beach that is closer, this is our favorite by far. Always interesting things to do nearby including restaurants and shops. Check it out.

Spent 3 hours on the beach from 1pm. The sand is beautiful, clean and soft. There were chairs and parasols for hire. There was a food wagon on the part of the beach were we were although we did not use it.
There is driving allowed on the beach and all drivers kept to the 10mph speed limit. They were not many car moving so this was ok. The sea was warm, it did not have the North Atlantic chill factor that we are used to.
The sea was coming in during this period so we had to relocate three times. There were so good waves to mess around on a boogie board. The beach was litter free as well which was good.

This place is awesome I have been coming here since I was 10 and went on my 55th bithday this year and it felt as if time had stood still...very cool to have that feeling

New Smyrna Beach is a small town that isn’t touristy. There are shops along the beach. A section of drive and no drive beach. Clean, not crowded, friendly people. 30 min to Daytona and 90 min to Orlando. Great place for families.

Spent late afternoon enjoying a few rays and couple of beers. Lovely spot, nice to relax on and did not get crowded. Recommended if you like a beach as the sand is nice to wiggle your toes in and the sea is warm. We'll do it again, soon!

Beautiful little town right on the beach , good restaurants, clean beach , very good on prices !! A lot of fun !

The beach was beautiful, but we aren't from Florida so we weren't aware of safety precautions or about high tide. The guy at the gate didn't warn or instruct us when we should leave just took our money.
As we were leaving our van got stuck on the 3rd st on ramp at the entrance. We tried getting our van out and the tide came in and sank the back tire. Sheriff stopped and told us he'd notify coast guard to help. But he couldn't help.
Coast guard wouldn't help, told us we had eyes we should of known better and that it was a liability and we needed to contact tow truck gave us a number of a truck service. And sat there and watched us struggle for an hour. Neighbors that were watching the whole thing came down in disbelief that coast guard would leave a vehicle with children and sit and watch as the water was rising. The neighbors from the beach tried to help.
Water was coming in and rising up and they sat there and watched.
Tow truck finally came and got us out!.
Note our van was on the 3rd st. On ramp exiting and one of our tires sank.
Safety precautions should be posted, coast guard should have drove down the beach notifying people of high tide. We aren't from Florida. Coast guard blew it on this one. I don't think we'll be revisiting.
Thank u vacationers who helped!!!

I’ve lived in Florida almost 40 years and this is still my favorite beach for so many reasons. Even though the last few years it’s gotten more crowded particularly on the weekends. There are so many amazing places to eat and little shops to explore. The wildlife is cool to see. There are parts of the beach you can drive on and a part you can’t which is nice when you have little kids with you. Lots of condos to rent to stay longer than the day which we like to do when we aren’t boating at Disappearing Island.

Great small beach town...laid back & friendly. Usually some sort of art, craft, car or bike show every weekend. Driveable beach w/soft white sand.

New Smyrna Beach is a quiet town with all the amenities you may need. The people are friendly and the main town road, Flagler Avenue, has many quaint shops. There is also a shopping center nearby for all your needs. I didn't see many hotels. There was mostly condominiums. It wasn't a party town but a place for family fun and relaxation. JB's Fish Camp was a great find for food, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking and music.

We love this little beach town! It is a very restaurant rich environment so it makes dining hard to choose. Love the beaches, just stunning! My happy place!

The east coast is the place to go for waves. Lots of surfers (although I won't do THAT) and lots of boogie boarders (more my speed). We had another beautiful day at the beach.

Drive on the sand beach. $20 per vehicle/per day, with one exit/reentry. Plenty of restaurants and shopping. Lots of retirees.

The sand here is heaven. Powdery white sand. The ocean is warm and waves aren't too big. A nice place to relax for the day.

We had a wonderful time! The weather was perfect, we almost had the beach to ourselves every day, and the days we went shopping weren't overcrowded. That time of year is the absolute best!

Once a year after Thanksgiving on Saturday there is an awesome arts n crafts market downtown next to the Farmers market. Also a children’s dance show to show off their local talents.

We have visited New Smyrna Beach for the past 3 years as the beach is clean, easy for walking or sun bathing in the Atlantic Ocean about an hours drive to Orlando, and a 20 minute drive to Daytona Beach. Parking may be difficult in the warmer months.

We stayed at coconut palms on the beach. You can drive your car on the beach and pay just one price or walk on for free. The town was very quiet at night and there aren't many things to do, but you can find so good eateries around the area. Check out the Tree top restaurant not too far away. We would definitely come back.

For the past 17 years I have been going to this beach and it is great! We own a beachfront condo and it’s amazing waking up to the sun rising! I highly recommend anyone, especially people who live near it to come visit! Well worth the time! There are a few one-of-a-kind places to eat such as Bagel World Chases on the Beach and Blackbeard’s. Highly recommend going to Blackbeard’s (ask for Jimmy if you go!) Also Bob Ross lived and painted here as well.

Today the waves were wicked and strong but the beach itself was nice and flat and wide so plenty of room. Surprisingly you can drive on the beach. The sand seems packed so it’s easier to walk on it rather than the very sandy or rocky type sand found in other beaches.

Being able to park on the beach has its advantages. I am able to make a day trip with all the gear within a few feet. For just a day trip it certainly is convenient. When the tide is out, there is gobs of beach to roam on.

Great town. Lots of shops and restaurants and drinking spots
Everyone is really nice.
Beach is so clean and lots of fun in the waves. Lots of surfers and parking on the beach.
Fun place to visit. Highly recommend New Smyrna Beach!!

The beach is awesome, some of the people not so much. Beach patrol on site. Saturday’s parking on the beach fills up quick, get there early.

Great beach with awesome restaurants nearby! Beautiful sunrise! Clean beaches and nice area parks to stop if bathroom breaks are needed!

Unfortunately, the weather was bad, but we still had a great time exploring the shops and restaurants. We will be back!

Stay out of NSB! Too many tourists enjoying excellent shopping, solid restaurants and beautiful beach.
Orlando and Disney World are calling your name. Lots to do in Mickey’s town. Don’t forget to spend quality time at Cape Canaveral. Daytona’s Bike week is the experience of a life time. The Florida keys offer some of the world’s best fishing. Do it once here and you’ll be back.

We really enjoyed all the amenities the little Beach Town had to offer. We had not been there before so this was a nice little surprise. The French Pastry Shop was oh soooo delicious!

Met friends here while on a trip to ride motorcycles. Rode through here to meet them, and loved the little town beach. It's super easy access & was quiet. Such a great little town!

Whether you want to get in the beach, spend some time relaxing, go fishing or ride a rented golf cart... this is the best place to go!

Loved this town so much we bought a house here. All you negative social distance idiots stay in your liberal states. Don’t need you in Florida.

Love this beach because it’s super wide and hard packed making it easy to walk on. Cars are also allowed on the beach for $20 and don’t present any conflict with the walkers. The beach itself goes on for at least five miles with excellent shelling at low tide. Honestly, one of my favorite beaches.

If you are blessed with good weather this is the perfect beach for walking. The only thing against it is the vehicles that are allowed on the beach, but, as per most beaches in this area, you just have to accept it.
As far as swimming is concerned the main danger is the occasional shark that might want to have a quick chew at your leg.

I had read here on trip advisor that 27th Avenue has public bathroom so we decided to park there. It was a great recommendation! You can choose to either park in a paved parking lot and bring your things down to the beach (where cars aren’t allowed) or pay to park on the beach. The area of 27th Ave has a nice place to wash off all of the sand. They have nice clean restrooms. There are also covered pavilions if you want to eat in the shade. This area is wonderful if you have small children.

This is a great beach. Well maintained and with vigilant life guards. There are only a few beaches where you can drive your car on to the beach, ok its $20 for the day. You can’t stay late as high tide in June is 7pm by 5pm is approaching the roadway. Free beach shower. Smooth sandy beach. Good surf. North beach is more popular than south side.

This review is for 27th Street Beach only - it does not reflect the conditions at any of the City’s other beach areas, such as Flagler Avenue. First, I was heartsick to see that the devastation from last year’s hurricanes has only gotten worse at this beach. The beach access stairs and ramps have been reduced to rubble. The lovely viewing area that led to the stairs is a crumbling shambles - blocked by chain link fence with warning signs. It is in far worse condition now than in the weeks just after the hurricanes. Mid way between high and low tide on a relatively calm day there was no beach area even if we could have gotten to it. We’ve been coming to this beach for over 40 years - we’re somewhat local living about 35 miles to the west - and were absolutely crushed to see the beach like this. The children’s playground, public restrooms and showers are still open and operational but the beach is just … gone.

My SIL recommended this beach to us while visiting in Florida. Since I didn't want to brave the crowds of more popular beaches over spring break, this seemed perfect. And it was! Packed, fine sands to play in, easy beach access, shallow water for quite a bit...
Be sure you know which sides of the beach can be driven on. If you want to bring your vehicle down to can for $20, but you need to get out before the tide comes up. Otherwise parking is available for $10 and there is a side cars can't drive on.
BUT! Check your tide times! Even if you aren't driving! The breakwater isn't far back enough to allow you any beach when the tide rises. It stays shallow, but there won't be any dry spots. Wish we had known this is advance as we would have planned for an earlier beach day. Still had fun though! Plus there were fresh water showers and bathrooms where we parked.

One of our favorite places to go as a couple or to hang out with friends. Great for socializing, riding bicycles and being outdoors.

Limited social distancing and hardly anyone wears a mask unless mandated. We love it here usually but NOT safe amid the COVID pandemic.... stay home until COVID is over

Next time that we stay in NSB, Florida we will never ever stay in a Best Western, but we will come back to this beach. Even though our hotel stay was the worst one ever, we loved the beach. I would have rather slept on the beach instead of sleeping on springs from the mattress popping me in my back.

This is the perfect beach for families with convenience stations nearby (showers and restrooms), lifeguards (seasonal), parking spaces (pay for parking on the beach or nearby convenient lots), plenty of beach area for having a picnic, flying kites, playing beach games or building sand castles. Shells can be found especially as the tide recedes. The grandkids loved their first beach experience. Waves were quite high (temperatures were comfortable 70 but winds were high) the day we visited and being in the water was not advised but we were able to wade in the surf, find shells, enjoy lunch and build sandcastles.

A very nice and clean beach. Family friendly. Spent the morning there walking the beach and had an enjoyable time. Paid 10.00 to park on the beach. Pass was good for all day. Enjoyed every minute there.

My partner and I stayed here for a night while on a Florida road trip. This beach was beautiful. You could drive on some of it. We got up early on the morning just to see the sun come up. We walked along it for 2 hours either way. Fantastic. Not busy at that time of the morning but did get before end of walk. Great seeing people making the most out of the birds for photos opportunities and everyone seemed so friendly.

Enjoyed my first time at NSB. Loved staying on the ocean! Loved the small resort town feel. So many great individually owned restaurants and very few chains. Lots to do and see for a newbie. Needs more restaurants on the ocean to dine and enjoy the roaring waves. Chase"s restaurant on the ocean is a must do. It was remodeled after the last hurricane and is gorgeous inside (outside is still being worked on). A great place to unwind and take in the ocean breeze and a cocktail.
Look forward to coming back to NSB next year.

Izzy’s island Ice Cream & Coffee was exactly what we were looking for. Wanted some fresh seafood and sweet treats. The shrimp tacos are amazing! Soft serve ice cream was also amazing. Everyone in my family thoroughly enjoyed everything they ordered.

Lovely beach and only an hour from where we live in Orlando. We entered the beach at from Flager Ave.
We could drive our car on the beach for $20 and we rented 2 loungers & umbrella ($40) from a golf cart who drives up and down the beach delivering chair & umbrella rentals. We can with no food or drink and their are no nearby concession stores. Next time we would bring our gear and stop at a deli on Flager Ave to take our sandwiches for lunch.
Best time to go is 9am / 10am then high tide arrives at 1pm. It is crowded on holiday weekend and everyone brings their gear. It’s perfect for 3/4 hours but I could not do longer. Kids had so much fun boogie boarding and I also loved having access to car right by us.

I was looking for a new place to go and decided to try New Smyrna. The town is so low key and has a great relaxed vibe. There is great food, beaches and hotels. Definitely will be coming back and have already recommended to several friends.

New Smyrna Beach is the local hangout for those who appreciate less of a tourist based atmosphere. Beautiful beach town much more in tune with the environment than the larger areas further north on A1A. If you are in the area and looking for a family based beach head down you will happy to see the difference.

Love the variety of things to see; wildlife, pounding surf, surfers, lighthouse. So many miles of beautiful sand beach.

New Smyrna Beach has become my family's favorite beach since we moved down from Pennsylvania to live in Orlando a year ago... we love the convince of being able to drive right up onto the beach; allowing us to bring all our beach gear (chairs, umbrellas, cooler, etc) without having to haul it across busy streets and burning sand.
We also begun to explore some of the businesses, particularly along Flagler Avenue, such as restaurants, bars, ice cream shops and other interesting little shops.
That brings us to Flagler's Tavern, the first full fledged eating establishment we have visited at New Smyrna Beach. Located on Flagler's Avenue just a couple of short blocks up from the beach entrance... there we enjoyed a very good margarita made with coconut liquor and a very interesting "Tavern Bloody Mary" that was trimmed with Old Bay and salt around it's lip and sported a garnish that included a shrimp, pepperoni slice, two stuffed olives and both a lemon and lime wedge. Interestingly it came with a small 5oz glass of beer as a chaser.... the black & blue mussels with fettuccine in a white wine garlic sauce and the fish & chips, sporting a huge piece of haddock, were excellent... The Buffalo Chicken sandwich was huge but not very tasty and the accompanying sweet potato fries were cold. The shrimp cocktail and fried mozzarella sticks were common place but the marinara sauce was quite tasty.
For location, atmosphere and tantalizing drinks it come highly recommended... but be a bit selective with the food menu.

Woa!, car parking is limited in this part of town, therefore you can park your car at the beach. It is a nice beach, convenient, with clean water and some dunes. And it has great waves for surfers.

If your looking for a great weekend get away or just a day trip!! This is the town your looking for!! There's always something going on !! A must go to is Flagler ave for a great day of people watching while having a cocktail on one of the restaurants decks!! All in all a great place!!

If you're looking for a chill beach vibe in central Florida on the east coast, New Smyrna is your choice. As a native, I've been going to this beach for 60 years. Yes, there's driving on the beach, but that's what I grew up on so who cares. The beach itself is family friendly, clean and fun. There are several restaurants on the beach with great views and delicious food. If in central Florida and looking for a relaxing spot, NSB is it.

Has lots of good places to eat .nice beach .easy parking. Just nice place to visit small town street venders

One of the best, less crowded and beautiful beaches in Florida. Hidden in a small town full of great restaurants.

Spent week there. Area we stayed in was not over populated. Great place for family vacation. We were on the no drive beach.

A beautiful and clean beach, everyone is so friendly,I love being able to drive and park on the beach

This beach is so beautiful. Shocks me that cars etc are allowed on the beach. Such a shame. The weather wasn’t great the day we visited do we didn’t stay at the beach long but would go back. The shops in town are many. Lovely places. Bad news limited parking. To park in the beach $20. To park in the lot it’s $10 all day. We had a couple of hours so it wasn’t worth $10 but there are no other pay options. This should be changed. It should have hourly parking. Gets more people in and out too.

Stayed down the beach. This whole stretch of beach is beautiful. Great for body surfing, boogie boarding and swimming. Shallow for kids. Sometimes cars on beach but they drive slowly and aren't a problem.

Been coming to New Smyrna Beach for over 25 years. Spend 2 weeks there every summer. Has something for everybody. Unique places to visit and good places to eat. Love the beach, especially the no drive area. Downtown is right by the ocean. It has grown a lot over the years because people are finding about the area.

It was cool and very windy . The day was low visibility. But we still enjoyed driving right on the beach .

Enjoyed a picnic at the sheltered tables and then walked the amazing beach! The picnic area and restrooms were clean and well maintained. The beach is gorgeous with powder sand. Great spot for family fun!

Big burgers at Breakers on the beach👍.
But get your brews at Half Wall Brewpub; awesome oatmeal stout🍻

Love the clean beach, soft sand, the ability to drive and park on the beach, walk to local eateries, and just hang out and have a great time! It does get busy in the warmer seasons so go early to get your spot!

It’s a beautiful beach just south of Daytona beach. It is a beach where you can drive up and relax and watch the sunset and the water is cold I would come in July or August

Loved this beach especially for flying kites. 10 dollars to drive on the beach if you are not a resident. Watch the tide as can come in quickly. The lifeguard patrol will keep you advised of the situation.

New Smyrna Town Beach is a typical Florida beach. Clean sand, beautiful water and incredible views. Lifeguards on the beach, restrooms nearby and a couple places to purchase food. Jolly Chriss

I love this beach because you can take your car on it. It’s great when you have little ones and elderly who can’t walk as far or use a wheel chair. Park and unload. You’re set for the day. I guess the down side is you do have to watch little ones from running into the car path. For us that was a better option than lugging are stuff from a parking lot and maneuvering a wheelchair. If you have a handicapped tag there is no charge to enter. It was just perfect for us.

We have been to numerous beaches in many different states/countries. The attraction is the peaceful atmosphere and relaxing view of the horizon. We were shocked to find our view from our beach chairs being obstructed by cars/suv's driving on the beach in front of us! Its an uneasy feeling to have people looking down at you just a few feet from your toes in the sand! Not to mention, blockng the view, especially when they sit there to enjoy the view from their vehicles! We saw kids playing catch who had to move due to cars. The danger alone with kids on the beach should be enough to stop this practice. Speed limits and car lanes were not being adhered to. If I wanted to watch a parade of cars. I would go stand out near the street. This is not what we come to the beach for. So sad really! Won't be back.

The Dunes with the Boardwalk are amazing. One day we saw many of the tortoises. Being able to drive on the beach is great.
There are great restaurants and places to eat. We enjoyed Uncle Chickens, The Backbeard Inn, Cafe del Soul and Colts Pig Stand.
The highlight of our trip was going to Blue Springs State Park to see the Manatees. Well worth taking the drive.
It was very windy but we had a good vacation.

has any business and service that may possibly be needed and close together because small town so travel and hectic traffic is avoided. Beaches and great weather. main places and methods of entertainment are fine bars and restaurant bars, bowling ally, library walks in nice weather and the beach.

We spent Thanksgiving 2023 here in New Smyrna Beach for the first time ever. What a great town it is. Everything was great.
We did a fishing charter with a local captain by the name of Drew Cavanaugh and he had so many places for us to go here. We ate at the Garlic twice! Phenomenal place. The River Deck for our lunches. We did a manatee dolphin tour as well and just fantastic! The national seashore was so beautiful. We are back in July!
We will be coming here from now on for our family holidays!

Spent an hour in the evening after hurricane Irma. Superb to walk on firm sand with water licking your feet softly
Whilst we were walking a guy who was wind surfing on the sand in some kind of skate board with a sail fell flat on his face and was bleeding from his nose my friend called 911 and they were there in less than 5 minutes. Fortunately not much harm but just a fall and the guy went away. Happy at the way 911 responded and told him that they will do a full check up st no cost to him but the guy refused
Back to the beach which was relatively unaffected by the storm of September 11 except for some weeds on the shore washed in by the tide and some roofs of the houses on the shoreline damaged

Not over crowded. You can drive on beach and park all-day for reasonable fee. Easy access off beach to bars and restaurants.

This was one of the better beaches we walked. Sand is hard making it easier to walk. Not many people. We didn’t see any cars. There was an abundance of shells. We liked this town so much, we are looking into moving here from Kansas.

My wife and I rented a property in New Smyrna Beach, FL, in early 2025. While the location and amenities were satisfactory, I regret to say that I would not rent from this owner again due to two significant shortcomings. The condo was advertised as having beachfront access. Upon arrival, we discovered that both the private and adjacent public beach accesses were out of service due to a prior storm. The owner did not disclose this crucial information about beach access in the listing advertising the property’s availability, although beach access directions were provided in the welcome package.
Secondly, our lease included access to a gym located in another building owned by the same proprietor. Gym access was a decisive factor in choosing this unit. Despite several attempts, I was unable to access the gym. The owner gave explanations and suggestions, but never provided the gym access key. By the end of our stay, the owner accused us of losing the key, which we never received. Notably, the welcome instructions for the gym did not mention a key.
A general observation is that the listing greatly exaggerated the property's condition. It was not as pristine as described. My family has been involved in real estate for decades, so I have a credible perspective in these matters. Accessing cable services was a daily frustration, as we found nine remote controls. Not one would turn on the television, and the batteries were dead. We foraged through all the batteries and found two that worked. The owner mentioned spare batteries in the cupboard, but there were none, prompting us to purchase them. Furthermore, the method for accessing cable TV involved a cumbersome set of instructions, leading me to contact Spectrum Cable three times. Additionally, my wife was frightened by an extremely aggressive dog owned by a resident in a nearby another unit on the same floor.
The owner’s ambivalence left me with the impression that the owner had not visited the property for some time. For instance, sea wall construction on the building south of Point East had been ongoing for months, yet the owner seemed unaware. The clocks were an hour off due to the semi-annual time change not being adjusted. Throughout our stay, the owner did not resolve any of the issues we raised and became dismissive when pressed.

It is a nice beach, it used to be way nicer but that was when half of the world didn't know about it, now it's so crowded all the time. It's so uncorftable because you can't even get there peacefully. I am a local and I'm witness of how clean it was this beach and now with all these people coming down to it, it seems many of them don't care about to keep it clean, they throw trash all over the place even though there are reashbins. The restaurants around this area are fine, I recommend though either go to Norwoods, the garlic or Boston fish house, these last three are the best in the whole area. Never ever go to limoncello, this one is the worst restaurant in the whole area, and I've tried almost all of the restaurants, to not say all of them around these towns.

A local Deland resident recommended this beach over Daytona, as the place where the locals all go. Easy to get to, lots of the usual beach facing townhouses, rentals and hotels. There are public parking lots scattered around and we paid $10 (minimum charge) for up to a 24 hour stay (thought that was a little steep). The beach itself is beautiful and we enjoyed walking on the very compact fine sand. Lots of broken shells so you have to be careful if walking barefoot, and lots of space to set up beach towels if spending the day there. It was great watching the waves crash in and if you are a beach person this is a great beach to visit. Nothing commercial on the beach so this is truly a place to just spend quiet time on the beach

Very nice beach - sand hard-packed, easy to set up beach canopy. Cars can drive right down on the beach and part for the day. People you meet are friendly. Very enjoyable.

I was here for a friends wedding and was blown away by how nice the sand was. It was basically like walking on powdered sugar. They also allow cars to park on the beach and people can tailgate on the sand. Which I thought was cool and I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Rain?!?! Unfortunately, heavy rains rolled in for a couple hours but cleared out in time for a little bit of beach activity. The beach town is small and has shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc. there is a boardwalk here but didn’t get a chance to walk along it due to the rain. There is a public parking area for $20/day. No dogs, glass or alcohol at this beach, but you can drive on it. There is a lifeguard.

New Smyrna Beach is a great place to take your Family. The waves are nice and the environment is clean. Great rental properties on the shore, great view and full of peace. On the beach parking is $20

You are allowed to drive on beach and park in designated areas. There is approximately 5-6 miles of driving beach. There are several vendors located along the beach that offer food, beach chairs/tents and also golf cart rental. The beach is also close to the Flagler Ave shopping and restaurants. There is metered parking on Flagler Ave at the end along the ocean front. Very nice area to relax, surf or wade in the water. When tide is out there is a lot of area to play games.

We enjoyed our week stay at NSB. The town was friendly and the beaches clean. We expected it to be a little tattered after the hurricane, but everything was up and running. There was a little washed up piles of seaweed in some areas, but overall the whole stretch of beach was great.

We love traveling the short distance from our home to the ocean at New SMyrna! We have grown up here and have been coming here for over 40 years....it just keeps getting better and better!

We had a delightful time on our first visit to New Smyrna, town and beach. Just a restorative and pleasant visit. The beach was awesome, and you could park your car on the beach itself, for a fee, which made it unnecessary to haul all our beach paraphernalia. Just lift the hatch and everything you brought with you is assessable. It's a very firm, packed beach with lots of shells, even at mid-day. We are going back again this week.

This is a drive on beach. Entrance was $20 which I thought a bit expensive but there was no shortage of takers. Parking is on top side of beach, driving down centre and the sitting is on the seaside. The sand is compacted for driving and is a few miles south of Daytona Beach, famous for its beach racing. We had a lovely afternoon, plenty of sodas and goodies from the cool box and the sea was warm to paddle. I didn't fancy a swim as rumours abound about shark attacks! There were hundreds of cars parked up and this enormous beach just catered for them easily. Great experience, will do this again!

We drove up from Disney World on a Sunday to visit New Smyrna beach and it was so nice! You are able to drive your car right onto the beach which is great because you don't have to drag all your stuff down to the water. The water was so warm. We all voted it our favorite beach ever!

The beach was absolutely amazing. We drove right onto the beach and parked. We were able to basically lounge right from the back or our trucks. There was an ice cream truck on the beach and the beach was impeccably clean! Will be returning again!

We recently spent 2 nights in New Smyrna Beach and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beach is very wide, firm sand and simply a great place to walk ride bikes, catch a little sun or just relax. The beach was very clean and had clean public restrooms close by. There were also vendors on the beach for food, bikes, chairs and umbrella .there are several restaurants within an easy walk from the beach. We would definitely return.

Beautiful beach and weather! Beach was not crowded. Great waves and on beach vehicles access. Life guards on duty. New Smyrna is a great beach to visit!

I loved the laid back feel of this beach. It was clean and relaxing! We went during Memorial Day weekend and we didn't have any problems finding parking. I would definitely go back!

I have been coming to New Smyrna Beach for over 50 years.Certainly many changes have occurred. It is a beautiful recreational white sand beach.I have been surfing here since I was 14 years old.It is always very clean and you can drive on it.There are great bars and restaurants nearby. The best are the Breakers and Tony and Joes. The best surfing spots are the Inlet just down from the rock jetty,3rd street, and Bethune Beach. New Smyrna Beach is a wonderful town!

Great day for Monster Trucks first time out, very busy but very entertaining.
Love the loud trucks and the acrobatics of the motorcycles.
Tickets were a great price with Groupon. The food and drinks, highway robbery! Noy bad for a first timer. Next time will get there earlier for better seating.

My family has been visiting New Smyrna Beach every summer for the last 38 years...from when I was a toddler through now having my own teenage kids. There is no place like it. Wide beaches perfect for games, gentle but fun waves, a tremendous energy. Can't go wrong here- just watch for cars.

Free parking or drive on the beach for a fee. Picnic tables and some benches - some under a cover - are available adjacent to the parking lot. Lot is crushed shell, not paved so be prepared to carry some of the beach back into your vehicle. Shower /bathhouse available. Easy access to the beach from Flagler Ave. Used to be a great place but now the noise from the tiki bar over the junk/arcade on the corner and the band from the hipster place just south of there ruin the sounds and sights of the true beach.

Nice beach that is patrolled by lifeguard. It is kept clean. You can drive in and park off Flagler. Restaurants and shops within walking distance

Great place to visit and enjoy the sun and the beach. Not as busy as other better known locations. Fun shops.

Beautiful beach but why would you allow everyone’s stupid trucks to block the view? We paid $2 to park in the lot and now we have to see everyone else’s vehicles up and down the beach. Stupid, unsafe and unacceptable. Love the soft sand and waves. We will not be back.

We have been coming to NSB for years now and love it. So clean and many things to do. Not touristy at all.

Perfect sand beach with lots of life guards and rules to protect little ones. Town has cute shops and friendly people.

This quaint beach was clean and friendly - just a short walk from our B&B when we stayed at NSB. My hubby and I watched the sunrise in a very peaceful and romantic way. Picture taking at its best with coffee in hand and a man by my side. The beach was patrolled cautiously and very clean.

New Smyrna is a great area and the beach is gorgeous! Parking for the day was $20. It’s so cool that you can park your car on the beach and have your stuff so close to you. Saves you from having to pack a lot back and forth from a parking lot. The water is shallow for a while so it’s fun to walk around! The beach is HUGE! Plenty of room for everyone to spread out. An ice cream truck even came by! While it is the shark bite capital of the world, I did not see any in my visit. I highly recommend coming here!

Great beach town, my home town born and raised. The beach, bars, restaurants, shops are all very unique.

Best thing about NSB is you have both styles of beach in one. Meaning you have the first section which you can drive on and the second half no vehicles are aloud on the beach.

New Smyrna Beach during COVID-19 was awesome. Not a hot zone, so the beach stayed open for walking, bike rides, fishing, exercise basically but keeping a safe distance from one another was doable.
Spring Breakers went home, shops closed, some restaurants stayed open take-away orders.
It's a beautiful spot, loads of Green space, open space. Quaint Flagler Ave, awesome Dunes Park, National Seashore Park, armadillos, Gopher tortoise, osprey, eagles, sharks, dolphins, brown pelicans, shore birds.
Feb-Mar and Oct- Jan perfect times.

My wife and I love New Smyrna Beach and visit quite often. Love to drive on the beach at the end of our day lying on the sand.
But on this visit the beach had much debris from some heavy seas a few weeks ago. The vegetation left by the storm gives off a nasty odor. Locals say it will wash back in.
Most beach communities get a tractor out and remove it. Getting $10 a car per day with thousands of cars should give a generous budget to keep clean the number one attraction in the area.

We visit NSB each year and stay down the beach, but always come to Flagler Ave and the town beach. Fun atmosphere and people watching. Great time to hang and relax.

Love this beach - clean, family-friendly atmosphere. We enjoy walking and riding bikes on the beach!

Beautiful view, sandy Beach. Will return when sun is shinning and water isn't danger close.Park your vehicle and walk everywhere.

We did a fishing charter with Captain Drew Cavanaugh a week ago and had a wonderful day with him. When we originally booked with him I was going to stay in Daytona this time, glad we did not. NSB is so nice. You must see it!

My husband and I recently visited this beach for the first time. It was great! You can actually drive on the beach for a small fee. This is great because you can load up all your beach gear (umbrella, tents, coolers etc) and drive to a spot and unload all your gear right from your vehicle. If you don't want to carry food and drinks, there are vendors on the beach so you don't have to walk very far fpr refreshments. I wish we had a place like this on the Alabama seashore.

Just thought I'd post this so people know it's $20 per day to park here. There is no option for less than a day. Unfortunately for us, just after we paid our parking, a cold front moved through bringing rain and a 10-15 degree drop in temperatures. $20 is a lot to pay for 30 minutes at the beach. But such is life, and it's not their fault. On a nice day it looks like a good place to enjoy the beach and $20 would be a fair price for a full day at the beach.

We stayed here for a few days & loved the idyllic 2.5 mile sandy beach. It is very wide & the only thing slightly marring the beach was the fact that they allow cars to park during the day, but they weren't a major problem & didn't affect our enjoyment.

Wow!
What a beach! This beach is oh so beautiful with fantastic waves! This is Florida!
I love the little town, especially Flagler avenue.,. However, with that said, this is not a beach I would swim at. The waves are big, perfect for relaxing to the sound of and for photographing. They do allow parking on the beach. $10.00 This is not a beach for children to take off and swim.....Florida has plenty of family friendly beaches but this is not one of them.

nice beach, much more relaxed than Daytona Beach. Less crowded, and more room to spread out. Love coming here.

This beach is a great beach to visit, especially the southern part. You can park your car on the beach or walk to the beach. The best times to go are early in the morning (around 7:30 AM in summer) and evening, when the sunrises/sunsets can be beautiful.
The beach is easily accessible, as it can be reached from the Flagler Avenue area or along A1A (Florida Road 44), via one of the numbered streets.
The beach is not usually crowded and is very clean because dogs are not allowed, although bicycles are allowed.
After spending the earlier half of the day in the New Smyrna Beach area, this is a nice place to relax. Anyone who visits New Smyrna Beach should go to this beach.

While one can drive on the beach here, we prefer to walk. Stay out of the traffic lanes, however, because few attend to the "strict"speed limit. This is a great beach to walk because of the firmness of the sand. Very clean. Lots of families.

This beach town is beautiful and the beach is nice BUT THIS BEACH IS ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS BEACHES IN THE COUNTRY!!!! we spoke to the lifeguards because the water "wasn't quite right"...it was warm but no one was in the water so we were informed that there are always shark attacks (*very warm water). Needless to say we enjoyed the scenery and there was plenty to walk around and experience....JUST DONT GET IN THE WATER!!!

Cute little town, reminds me of 1950-60s
Beach town. Very quaint. Very friendly people. Beautiful clean white beaches
Almost no crime
Safe to walk streets anytime

Golf carts, beach, shops, small town feel. Super friendly. Quaint, not quite as "touristy" as other places I've been in Fl. My FAVORITE place to go in Fl. If you want relaxed and drinks beachside this is your place. Ocean Breeze Tiki Bar & Grill. Excellent food and service everytime I've been. Brunch & Bottomless Mimosas on Sunday! I would live here if I could. 🤞🤞 maybe someday!

There are a couple of different shopping areas to enjoy. So, make sure you visit the businesses in the historic district as well as the ones just off of 44 that dead ends into the beach. Plenty of places to pick up sunscreen, goodies, clothing and some great items from local artists.

I have only been to this beach in November and December...the water may be cold....but the sand is warm and there are all sorts of fun things you can do in the surf to cool off

New Smyrna is a nice little beach town. There are paid parking lots with beach access. There was a bathroom available, although it was small and not very clean. The beach was nice but it's best not to sit too close to the water or you will have to move along with the tide. The town itself has quite a few places to grab a bite to eat, or a drink, and lots of live music. We enjoyed the day!

Of course when you go on vacation you have to spend time at the beach. This is more than just a beach though. It is one of the gems of the East Coast. There are very few beaches that allow driving and parking ON the beach! It is very unique. The Beach is very wide and flat. It allows for easy navigation of the beach. There is hard and soft sand so you can choose your preference. The flat sand allows for easy driving, biking and walking for exercise, playing of games at the ocean shore. This is my favorite beach.

The sand is well packed and easy to walk on,not crowded at all. easy access from parking or for a small fee you can drive on the beach.

Fascinating - cars parked right on the beach and you see them coming and going. The beach looked like the sand was hard enough to make it easy to walk on.

This is a lovely beach with driving access. It cost $20 for the day but it was pretty cool to cruize up and down the beach!

This has it all. Great for walking in the sury, on the sand, driving on the beach. Go further south to Bethune. Shopping, dining and fun. Go up to the Inlet for more dining options although you need not. Lots of stuff within walking distance. We stayed at Springhill which very convenient.

I was surprised at how clean this public beach was, especially with so many picnicking families. I wasn't necessarily a fan of all of the cars and beach traffic but the width of the beach and shallows was great. It was ok for a little football, time in the sun, walking, surfer watching. Loved the rocks/pier area. But, the pedestrian only beach was crazy busy. We left and went back to the side with cars. There wasn't any convenient food or drink service on the beach or accessible from the beach. The hotels on the beach seemed dated. We enjoyed our visit but I would not consider this beach a top priority return without updates.

We love this drive-on beach! It’s so easy to set up for the day. It’s clean, safe and has many amenities like restrooms and restaurants near by. There are beach chair, umbrella, golf cart, bike and food truck vendors on the beach. Lifeguards are posted along the beach as well as a police patrol. There’s even a small downtown you can walk to with many shops, bars and restaurants. It’s a cool place!

Took a friend here for first visit, and she loved it. Lots of quaint little Crafty shops, and a gorgeous Beach to drive on. Lots of eating places, and you wont struggle to find a good bar.

My girlfriend and her family are all from near this area...and I got tired of hearing about how great it was. Turns out, it is pretty dog-gone great...I wouldn't mind going back for a longer stay!

March 2, 2025, pretty area, but not great today, high tide, cars and driving lane took up the whole beach... we were asked to either sit by the water where blankets get wet or sit behind the cars where you can't see the water... noisy cars/trucks with too much exhaust, the beach was pretty and the birds where nice to watch, the morning was lovely, but with all the cars taking up what tiny beach was out and having to move for more cars to come in and park, we didn't love this location :D it would be nicer if they did not have cars/trucks... especially when the higher tide is in at least

We did a couple of walks on this beach, once in brilliant sunshine and the other in dense fog - I think I enjoyed the foggy day the most - much more atmospheric and we didn't get too hot. Not too many people surfing that day !

We were there on a chilly windy day so not many people out and about. There are plenty of restuarants nearby and parking available. Very pleasent beach

We enjoyed this area a lot better than Daytona. It was clean and had many options for food and drinks.

Not to many places you can go where there are no brand restaurants & every shop is privately owned. You get the old time Florida feel as you park & stroll the main street. Or access the beach in your car, driving up & down on the sand something that's been down since the invention of the car!

With multiple entrances, this beach fairly invites you to pack up the umbrella, folding chair, and cooler for a day in the sun by the sea. Well marked driving/parking areas, and vigilant lifeguards make for a safe, simple, and carefree day away.
The shallow water and sand-bars make great surf watching with 4-5-6 rows of breakers coming ashore. Watching the surfers is great, even better watching is when a couple of kite surfers compete for speed and air-hang-time as they skim over the waves.

We went here with locals after the high tide went back out. The beach wasn't crowded, it was really relaxing.
You could park right on the beach for a fee, which I had never seen anywhere else before.

New Smyrna is a great beach to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean. It’s quite busy and vehicles are allowed to ride on the beach, please be cautious if you have small children. It’s a great place to swim, layout and enjoy your day. I highly recommend this beach.

We sat in our beach chairs at this beautiful beach on December 31st! We wore windbreakers because of the chill in the air, but the chill did not seem to faze the visitors we saw shelling, flying a kite, surfing, playing cornhole, building sandcastles, rescuing a dolphin who was stranded in shallow water, and even swimming. The beach is WIDE, with packed sand that makes strolling along the ocean's edge relatively easy. The water was clean and the waves were high. I am so happy that we didn't let a slight chill keep us away from such an awesome time at this beach!

This is a great family-friendly beach with lots of touristy shops and restaurants within walking distance. There's no free parking, so prepare to pay. Beware that this beach also has one of the highest instances of shark bites in Fl. The beach also allows paid beach parking for vehicles with 4x4

We are from North Carolina where you can not drive on the majority of the beaches so to be able to drive on the beach was super fun and different. The strand is wide and perfect for the kids to be able to play in the sand and surf.

The area where we went on the beach was a drive-on area. It was convenient for ANY car to be able to drive to a spot to set up, BUT this also means cars are driving back and forth, people in golf cart/buggies, bikes, scooters, all going up and down a beach that isn’t very wide. Sitting closer, on the opposite side of the “road” put you closer to the water, and the tide comes up too high. There were also Portuguese Man of War ALL OVER as well as in the water, so swimming isn’t ideal.

We were actually staying on Daytona Beach. We took a drive to New Smyrna Beach to look around. We loved the quaint area and the beach was beautiful!! We didn't spend any time actually on the beach. But, enjoyed the view looking!! We may consider staying here next vacation

We came by the bus load! Two buses of retirees out for a day at the beach. It was wonderful. Packed sand was easy to walk on (cars also allowed). Easy access to the water with very gentle, sloping entry (no sudden drop offs). Umbrellas and lounge chairs available for rent and they even drill into the sand and set up your umbrella for you! Several bar/restaurants nearby when you want a break for lunch. I'm already planning a return trip with a few friends. Be on the lookout for sharks. NSB supposedly the shark attack capital of the world. I don't know if that's true.

We walked the shops on Flagler and then onto the beautiful white sandy beach. Loved the ambiance of the area with local shops and restaurants. Ample walking space on sidewalks and not crowded. Nice quaint area to visit and enjoy local flavor.

Great beach town to stay in. Loved our kayak tour with Marine Discovery Center. Just a great place to be.

Drove here to spend the day. The beach is nice and clean with white soft sand. We had to pay $10 to park for the day. There is parking on the street, but we thought the parking lot would be safer. The parking lot was right on the beach. There were showers, restrooms and some tables in the shade. The pay parking machines do accept credit cards. We did not come prepared with cash. There are a few places to eat that are walking distance from the beach and there are vendors on the beach that rent umbrellas and chairs for the day. The life guards seemed to keep a good watch on the swimmers. If you choose to, you can park on the beach for $10. I don't really like to see cars driving down the beach. But the traffic lanes are well marked and we sat with the traffic lanes to our back and a beautiful ocean in front of us. We had a great day.

We come here with friends from all over the world every April. We go for an early morning run, we watch the moon rise and we enjoy a pretty laid-back beach setting. The shops are nice, the restaurants are good, and we keep coming back!

A really good beach and town. Lots of shops and good places to eat. If you are from out of town this is the beach for you. Check it out.

Firet time visitors here. Our family was very impressed with the amenities here. Clean beach that is very wide and spacious. Public parking nearby as well on the beach. Lifeguards are present as well as public safety personnel.
Lots of points of interest nearby like food and drink. Public restrooms are nearby too.

It looks like it would be a great town to walk through. Parking was easy. We enjoyed our stroll and would like to come back during an event. We have walked the town a few times. Shops close at night and its too hot during the day to enjoy the trip. One time there was some live music. We were hopeful for more live music or street musicians. The potential is there but it looks like most of the time its just a place to stop and eat in a restaurant.

We are new to the area and recently started visiting NSB so we can ride bikes on the beach. Its cool to be able to drive your truck on the beach and park with all your stuff right with you. No carrying all your toys.

We enjoy the beach during offseason; you can literally walk for miles in solitude. The Atlantic has pretty good surf, water is a little bit murky; we prefer the Gulf Coast. Not a lot of loose sand; beach is hard-packed and accommodates driving. There is easy vehicle access and parking for $10 per day. Restrooms and showers are available and there are bars and restaurants nearby for beach goers. Overall a decent Atlantic beach.

Lengthy, wide, clean, white sand beach, quiet, relaxing, driving and parking on the beach, constant monitoring by beach patrol, plenty of space for swimming and fishing, shelling, etc.

Spent all day here with friends & family! People drive on the water side of beach & in October part of the beach near the greenery is closed off for turtle nesting season. Clean sand, some very basic shells.

Took the day off and enjoyed a day at the beach with my wife. Beach is always clean, water warm, relaxing. Need to do this more often. I stay away on weekends, very crowded.

Very long clean beach. Magnificent vistas of rolling surf. Although you can walk barefoot I would suggest that do take footwear as there are areas which has lots of broken shells and stones.

NSB has plenty of history if you take the time to explore. It has a sweet little shopping district off the beach, which is family-friendly and popular with surfers.

Loved this beach! We took a long walk and enjoyed the firm sand and rolling surf. We were lucky to have great weather. We also enjoyed the small town and its varied shops.

Excellent day at the beach - 1st timer - park on the Beach or in the Beach parking lot-(fee) life guard on duty - tons of white beach = very quaint beach town - all within walking distance - lots of little shops- restaurants to choose from - The beach was not loud or crowded. PERFECT - will definitely go back - Loved it...Only took little over an hour from Orlando to get there great way to spend a day when in Florida.

Not much has changed about this little beach town. The beach is still the same. Crowded but not unbearable. Parking is still hard to find and very expensive. It went up to $21.00 a day. Most parking spots turn over three to five times a day. A real money maker for the city.
Shopping is typically for tourist. Tee shirts, swim suites and related stuff.
You can still drive on the beach for $10.00

We love this beach. Introduced to it about 20 years ago when vacationing with some friends who have a time share on the beach. Have stayed at other towns/beaches on the Florida Atlantic coast, but always seem to end up back here at NSB. Flat wide beaches and great surf for body surfing or boogie boarding. Town is starting to grow but still maintains its slower paced, small town atmosphere.

This a is a beautiful wide beach with soft soft sand and a nice boardwalk along the edge. You can walk right up into town and visit many shops and have something to eat. This is a very beautiful place.

The beach is clean, and the sand is beautiful! We arrived early, and were able to park in a municipal lot right at the sand. The water was warm, and it is very shallow, for a very long distance out. We were there for both low tide and high tide, and it never got much deeper.

Want to go back and ride bikes on this beach. Very clean beach with many pedestrians. Perfect for a morning walk or run.

We rented a golf cart ($45/hr) which included the entrance fee to drive it on the beach. It was fun, something a little different. You have to drive any vehicle REALLY SLOWLY because people are laying on beach towels only feet from your wheels. I found that kind of strange but as the owner of the motel we stayed at said, it's been allowed since the 50's and won't change any time soon. The beach itself is nice.

Charming shops, restaurants, bars and drive on beach!
No big box stores not chain stores, quite the relief. Here you get to talk to the store owner. Buy here helps the small shop owner live their dream!
Clean town, friendly and helpful people(locals). The beach is white sand, well maintained, clean with lots trash and recycling containers. Patrolled by lifeguards on four wheelers and rescue trucks.
Our favorite town and beach!

Pretty beach but it cost to park. Some construction going in right now ..so if you are following the Ways app make sure to pay attention for detours.

A little piece of heaven on earth!! The beach is very clean and you can get lost for hours just walking up and down the beach poking into little beach bars.
The water was cold but with near record breaking temps this week it was refreshing.

The New Smyrna beach is probably the nicest beach in Florida. It is very large, the sand is like powder, you can go out a very long piece, and you can park on the beach. This is a perfect place for relaxing, playing beach games and swimming. Perfect.

I love this beach. First off, it’s big and wide, with the sand compressed making it easy to walk. And can you walk - from Flagler Avenue, left to the jetty is maybe 2 miles, while to the right goes for more than five miles - that’s where I turned around and walked back. Cars can drive and park on the beach for $20. Here you can people watch, see surfers, talk to fishermen, ride bikes, or walk until you’re bone tired. Like I said, just the perfect beach.

Clean beach with easy access. Set up your pop up tent and put out the chairs...great day to enjoy the sun and surf!

This used to be a great place to visit. Family friendly with plenty to do between the beach, parks, local shops and restaurants it was the areas best kept secret. Emphasis on used to be! Now it has become an over developed tourist trap! Where it appeared that city officials took pride in the family friendly atmosphere, this also has changed and not for the better. As soon as the sun sets the focus is one big drunk fest! People walking down the sidewalks with open containers, being rowdy and profain. The back streets smell like urine! And the local police are rude and discourteous. Ask for directions and they treat you like you just interrupted the most memorable time in there lives. Sounds pretty critical I kno , just a shame to see such a neat place turn into another St. Augustine, and don't even get me started on the homeless population!

We enjoyed the beach notice in some areas cars was driving on the beach but there is a fee for that. which I was not happy about. But love the town and the stores downtown lot's of historic homes there too.

Enjoying the beach at NSB used to be a great experience, but the governments got in the way. Unless you live in the area, you will experience:
A big daily(Volusia County) toll to enter the beach with your car, and there might be no place to park, and maybe the tides are coming in
A $10 daily fee to park in the NSB parking lots next to the beach. Yes, that’s $10 a day regardless of how much time you spend. But they do have excellent rest rooms.
A think NSB and Volusia County have decided they don’t want tourists.

Our favorite beach, we love to drive to the jetty, set up and walk around past the jetty where it is usually very quiet and nice.

The beach has life guards. That’s a plus. After we arrived I was told by a local there are more shark bites here than any where in the world. Also the rip currents are terrible here. So I googled it on the way home and yes. Those things are true. The current is very strong and the suction of the water returning out to sea is very very strong here. So be careful. The locals seem nice. The town could use more activities. Would go back

A hidden gem is New Smyrna Beach. Everyone knows Daytona but New Smyrna has everything that Daytona has without the crowds. Love it!

One of the best beaches in Florida. $20 to drive on the beach for the day, but worth it. You can bring your vehicle right onto the beach and relax. Our family loves it.

Totally awesome experience! This beach is very, very drive-able!!!! A complete surprise to us that just “made our day”! We had no idea of that possibility when we entered the entrance to the beach! We just thought we were headed to the beach parking lot. As a passenger in the truck, I thought we were just paying $20 for a parking space to go to the beach. Was I surprised! Totally surprised! We drove the truck along the hard-packed sand with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and houses/ high-rises on the other. I had heard of driving on Daytona Beach but never even saw that beach when we drove through Daytona! The waves at New Smyrna beach were awesome! We were aware that this beach coast has sharks very close to the water’s edge, so we didn’t go into the ocean. We drove a couple of miles south on the beach and then further north to another exit. The beach is wide, white sand, and perfect for walking, which we did for about a mile. Absolutely perfect beach for sunning too though it was chilly last week when we were there. All in all, a wonderful beach!

We loved walking down the beach and sitting in the sun. There were lots of vehicles and people. Pelicans flying overhead.

We enjoyed our time on this beautiful beach. The sunrise was amazing this morning. The sand is solid along the water which makes it nice for jogging or walking. I've heard it is usually very crowded, but we did not experience that this time of year! There are many fun restaurants and little shops in the area. I do not like the fact that cars are allowed on the beach. It does make it a convenient spot to bring your own chairs, umbrellas and snacks. I think it is a safety issue. The beach does have life guards and patrol cars that pass by quite frequently. There are public restrooms and a picnic pavilion.

Very clean family oriented beach. I chose this one because it was close to Orlando, it was not Daytona & I had read some reviews. New Smyrna Beach did not disappoint

I love this beach and hope to move there one day, It is like my second home and my aunt just moved back there to live. It is a beautiful beach and les crowded than Daytona.

While it is not far from Daytona the beach seems to be a little more powdery. Cars can still drive on the beach just like Daytona which is a neat experience. Very nice beach to hang out at.

New Smyrna is a great place to visit, nice restaurants, shops, and very friendly atmosphere. Stop for the day or stay a few days

We loved the beach here. Beautiful and clean. So fun that card can still drive on the beach! Nice, family atmosphere. A few bars/restaurants overlooking the beach.

This beach is wonderful, clean, and quiet. The waters are pristine as are many of Florida's beaches. It's about a 40-minute drive from Orlando, Florida (traffic not withholding) and well worth the drive.

One of the most pristine beaches in all of FL. Super wide powdered sugar beaches, local feel with no resorts and very few hotels. Very quiet old world beach vibe. Lots of options for good food and good waves. Also beach service with lounges, umbrellas and boards.

The best beach resort ever it's so cool here we'll come back here over and over it's clean and friendly yuri and alex are the best servers in the world

Well, actually wanted to go to our usual beach. But, it was closed. So, we went to Smyrna. First time there. It was just as nice. Not as crowded because of the upcoming Hurricane. Low tide was far out, so there was plenty of beach Saturday. Went a little further south along the beach and hardly anyone around. Most little shops were closed and boarded up. Hotels were asking guests to voluntarily leave early. We stayed till Sunday. And the beach was a totally deferent. High tide and crashing waves. But the time we did spend there. We had fun.

Heard so much about the beach here, was looking forward but I’ve seen better. Some papers tauted this place as one of the best in Florida ranking but I didn’t think so.

Beach was not crowded and was very clean. You can park on the beach for $25. We felt very safe and enjoyed riding bikes along the beach

$20 to park in the lot whether you stay 1 hour or 10 hours. No beach access by stairs so need to walk down the ramp along with the cars. Very few lifeguards on duty so beach space & swimming near them gets crowded. Fun play area for the kids with nearby bathrooms- also accessible only by walking where cars are driving. Cars are allowed on one side of the beach so you need to be mindful of your children if you go on that side. Clean beach, relaxing day for the family. Bring tools to build a sand castle and best to go during low tide for maximum beach space.

very nice city. some of the people look at you funny. but over all it was nice the beach was beautiful

New Smyrna beach 🌴🌴 Great beach styleing place , Beautiful place to walk the shoreline smelling the fresh air listen to the waves break see the sunrise just gorgeous many great memories ⛲️🎻🎻🍮

Very nice beach clean good facility & good parking easy to locate Outside good dining restaurants & very near to Orlando just one hour from my home

Nothing special - just another small beach. Only thing different than most beaches is that you are allowed to drive on this one.

I have been coming to the beach at NSB for 48+ years. The weekends are just way too crowded especially during the Summer. It is best to come during the week if possible. May and October are my favorite months.

The parking is at a premium, so you can drive and park on the sand, very convenient especially with kids and older folks.

I think the draw is the laid back atmosphere, small town vibe. Nice beach, you can drive on it though there is a fee.

Excellent beach with well behaved cars unlike some other local beaches. Employees at gates were friendly. Will definitely be back.

Laid back beach you can drive on. Very relaxing to take a morning walk or look for seashells. Multiple beach access points.

Stayed at Ocean Club South in New Smyrna for 4 nights. Nice condo where mostly snow birds and extended stay people live. Seriously some of the nicest strangers I've ever met! Great beach location. Nice pool with a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean.

We paid 10 bucks to park on the beach for the day. There are rental available, food, or you can bring your everything (boogie boards, umbrellas, tents, chairs). This was my second visit I loved it!

Beautiful sandy beach just off the avenue! Super clean and beautiful sunsets! Walked the shops on the avenue and stepped right off onto the soft sandy beach!
Hope to return soon!

Incredible, fantastic views, such a beautiful place. The locals are friendly and helpful. There are also life guards on duty and patrolling. So much to say, a great beach to relax or fish.

I love this beach especially for sunrise, as there’s free parking until 9:00 am, and nearby coffee shops open at 7:00 am.
It’s a popular spot so can be crowded, but the sand is fine and white, and there are a FEW shells to discover (not overwhelming like the West coast of Florida).
Be careful with kids. There are cars allowed on this beach. $10 to park for the day or $10 to go onto the beach.

We stayed in a condo on the beach and had a great time. The beach is clean and you can drive on certain parts or park and walk. In the evening we had it to ourselves for bocci ball and made for a great place to walk for an evening stroll.

This is a drive in beach. Water temperature was nice. Great for beginners surfing and skim boarding. Lots of fish too.

Lovely long beach. Plenty room for everyone but gets very busy weekends. $10 to Park on beach but well worth it. No alcohol allowed. Decent toilet facilities. Be careful hiring sun beds. 2 beds and umbrella were $40. Very expensive and beds are poor quality.

NSB is great! Seems to be always clean & not overly crowded unless we are just going at the perfect time of day...It looks like officials keep a good eye on the crowd & parking of cars.

This is absolutely beautiful. We were there on a chilly day (Florida standards) and not very busy. Can walk of drive on it. We were just on beginning of it in city.Taking vehicles require a daily fee of $30 ( I think that's the correct amount). Well worth it for a great experience. Walking is free. Wouldn't miss it. Was told it get's very busy when it's nice or in season. I could listen to the surf and waves forever.

Our family love to walk the beach. This is a clean white sand beach that allows vehicles to drive on the beach. Always fun to people watch.

Paradise Cove @NSB - A Coastal Paradise Cove of Comfort and Style.
From the moment we arrived at this beautiful vacation home, we were enveloped in a sense of tranquility and comfort that only a well-thought-out newly remodeled space could provide. The property, a mere three-minute walk from New Smyrna Beach, is a gem nestled in your classic serene coastal neighborhood.
The home itself is a testament to tasteful remodeling. Every corner of the house has been touched with thoughtful design, blending modern aesthetics with a warm, inviting ambiance. The open floor plan, coupled with the abundant natural light, creates a spacious yet cozy atmosphere perfect for relaxation and entertainment.
The kitchen, equipped with new state-of-the-art appliances, was a delight! The bedroom offered restful sleep after our beach adventures. Like the rest of the house, the bathroom was immaculate and updated with modern fixtures.
But what truly sets this home apart is its proximity to the beach and the cozy restaurants. The convenience of being able to leisurely stroll back and forth between the beach, Flagler Ave, and Atlantic Ave restaurants is unmatched.
Our temporary home added an extra layer of relaxation to our vacation, and the outside courtyard surrounded by palm trees was also a delightful surprise, a brand-new grill, and a cornhole game set were loads of fun.
This vacation home is more than just a place to stay. It's a beautifully remodeled sanctuary, a stone's throw away from the beach, where every detail has been considered for your comfort. We left feeling rejuvenated and with a suitcase full of beautiful memories. We can't wait to return and highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a cozy beach getaway.

Great experience! We were able to set up just steps from our van! Make sure to take a beach umbrella or canopy!

Enjoyed another great day in New Smyrna Beach, what I call a hidden gem. I first heard about it when visiting Central Florida. So I, put it on my bucket list of places to go. I love the beach! These days, I live by the idea in mind to create new memories and enjoy life, and go on
stay-cations as much as possible. A wonderful place to visit with your family.

The beach was very clean, and very well protected
There was life guards and flags, you can also drive on the beach for a fee

My family including my mother with all of her children, grands, great-grands, and even by big Goldendoodle all embarked on an extended vacation to enjoy her birthday and Thanksgiving. We all stayed in condos rented through VRBO. Two were on the beach/ Sea Ward and mine was about a mile away, Sea Woods. All of us were on the beach every day (except the dog/ not allowed on New Smyrna). Meals were made easy in our residences and we also ate at local establishments which included; The Third Wave, JB's Fish Camp, and Norwoods. New Smyrna's laid back atmosphere, sunny days, and shelling pleased everyone from age two to age eighty! "Just the very best way to enjoy each other and be together!"

We headed up from Orlando on a very hot afternoon. It was 96 degrees with 90% humidity so walking around outside at one of the theme parks in Orlando was not a good option. We were headed in the direction of Daytona but opted to head here instead and were pleasantly surprised to find a small fun beach town with so much to do within walking distance of our Condo. I would definitely choose New Smyrna over Daytona.

Even after 2 Major hurricanes this each is beautiful!
Such a shame some of dunes and Board walks had been washed away !
But the charm of the place remains !

Since we had lunch in New Smyrna we decided we would take a drive down the beach. We were very impressed with the way things are set up for people who want to park or drive on the beach. Sadly, since New Smyrna and most of the Florida Coast is not visible from the road, this is a great way to see the Atlantic. You ought to do it once just for the view and experience.

This was our first time at New Smyrna Beach, and it definitely won't be our last. The town is really quaint and laid-back with many nice shops and restaurants. The beach itself is way better than I expected; not as great as Clearwater beach, but much better than Cocoa beach. We will definitely be back here again soon.

This beach is kept very clean and it always looks beautiful. Finding a parking spot is hard and usually expensive. This area is FILLED with tourists and it’s sometimes hard to find a spot on the beach. The life guards are always watching and making sure everyone is safe.

Went there many times. Coming from New England I could not believe how wonderful this was. Clean, warm water and so much fun. Good beach for children. And you can take your car on the beach for a very low price. Food from the beach vendors was so good

Im from Izmir from Turkey. In past, izmir is called as Smyrna .so before I came there,I m so curious about there .it is beautiful place especially beach side but in Turkey, İzmir is perfect no judge 😁

Walked in the area for about an hour last night and enjoyed the old style southern charm. The streets were quiet and the atmosphere very laid back. We'll definitely be back there again in the near future.

Volusia County does not allow dogs on the beach... Better to stay in St. Augustine where they LOVE DOGS!!! There are no "NoDogs" signs on the beach. I was staying in a private ocean front cottage and the first day I took my 10# Maltese for a short walk ....had my poop bag in hand. This was at dusk and I see this lifeguard car with lights on came up to me and informed me about the "no dog" policy. He took my name, birthday and went back to "check up on me"....felt like an episode of Cops. When I was cleared...he said he wouldn't fine me but this was my warning??? I'm 73 years old and I informed him there are no "no dogs" signs on the beach...I didn't know. No, I won't be coming back here again...
.I think they should implement a winter set of rules that allow dogs between a certain timetable like from October 1 to April 1...Also, $20.00 to drive on the beach...
I will be going to St. Augustine from now on..

Love new Smyrna beach, very small town beach village, great locals, very vibrant, great shops that are owned locally that take pride in their services, great waves to surf & fishing & some of the best restaurants in the state! You will not be disappointed with a vacation here!

Small sidewalks so hard to keep social distancing. However we loved being able to be in an old town with shops. Bought some clothes and a souvenir to hang on the wall. Right next to the beach which was our next stop.

$10 allows you to drive down the beach, set up "camp" and spend a wonderful day at the beach. Clean, well patrolled and family friendly beach.

Love NSB but it was mobbed! The snowbirds have descended upon our quaint little beach town. Love our beach but too many cars blocking our access. Hopefully, will calm down & back to normal.

New Smyrna Beach is a beautiful. Great shops, restaurants, etc. The beach is very nice. Nice sand, ocean water, and just a great beach.

Impressive white sand beach, 13 mile long according to our hosts. Cars drive along and park up so convenient if lots of kiddie stuff to take along. We cycled part of it which was fun, and the sea breeze helped as the heat was intense. Lots of families having group games, good atmosphere, ideal place to spend the day.

Was there for 6 weeks. The beach is beautiful great for walking and bike riding. Collected a lot of angel wing shells but no sharks teeth which you think you would fine with all the sharks in the water. Some great restaurants and easy to get around by car

Very nice beach - seems popular and clean - you have to pay for parking. We never went in the water, but for a quick walk and some pictures, it was very nice. Nice little Florida town.

New Smyrna Town Beach sits at the end of Flagler Ave. The fee to take your car onto the beach is $10/day. If you prefer not to take your vehicle onto the beach there is paid public parking to the right of the beach access ramp. The non beach parking goes fast so you'll need to arrive early or prepare to find nearby parking. It is a nice area to be to allow you to enjoy the beach as well as Flagler Ave. This is a great place for families, couples or solos.

The small quaint downtown atmosphere. The small Mom and Pop stores. The cleanliness of the streets. The selection of the shops.

Awesome walking. My daughter and I walked 20 minutes one way and 20 minutes back to our Time Share. Not many people out in December but it was great for walking. The birds liked it.

Wonderful soft sand beach, vibrant & quaint Flagler ave shops, restaurants, all within walking distance.

Spend Mermorial weekend in town with friends and visited here for the day. We loved it. It was a hot day with cool water. The only thing we got stung by jelly fish. We cried a bit but still went into the water later. Kids loved it and vibes was great.

i have lived in NSB for 5 years. I met a group of people who like to see the sunrise like me everyday. We meet and BS each other and then go on with our day. The beach views are good and my wife and her friends walk about everyday for 20-25 mins. We love the place.

The ocean is awesome the night breeze the Moon glistening on the water at night it's just breathtaking my advice is to not stay at the Aloha Motel and apartments there's a new manager there and she's very sneaky while you're away from your apartment she will be checking out your belongings she goes in all the apartments she claims to reset the WiFi or finds another reason why she was in your apartment while you are not there the price isn't worth what it cost you to be there sorry to say it almost cost me my life

A few miles down the road from the Daytona Beach is a friendly little town called New Smyrna Beach. It's claim to fame I suppose is the self rewarded title as "The surfer capital" of Florida. Imposed or imposture I know not which. Without debate and very limited with knowledge other than common sense about ocean waves and their surf conditions I have visited this area of east coast Florida off and on for the past 25 years or so. In fact the only instances of "heavy surf" I recall are the days preceding and post from a hurricane I lived through some years ago. That epic visit (to look in on a friend's property while he was out of country) took on new meaning when I arrived two days prior to the hurricane as you might imagine. Unfortunately his three hundred year old tree also visited the living room via the hole in the roof during the festivities. Quite an adventure and a long lasting memory of what is a very pleasant area of Florida to visit when wanting a bit of rest and relaxation during a Florida drive about - minus the hurricane. Check it out and be sure to bring along your surfer outfit just in case surf's up.

Nice beach located in a funky classic Florida beach town. For a $10 fee you can drive a car onto the beach and tailgate all day. The beach is clean and well maintained.

Beautiful wide beach with nice size waves for swimming and play. Nice pay parking area with showers and bathrooms. Many great restaurants and snack bars within walking distance on Flagler avenue or right on the beach. This is a charming little beach town

A wonderful beach to visit, enjoy, and return to. We have just celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary there,
returning with excitement each year.
The sunrises are amazing, the beach
is soft to walk or jog on. The beach is fun to ride bikes on. The beach is
fun to drive your car on and park while enjoying the day there.
The ocean is beautiful with powerful waves. Nice to watch the ocean waves, dip in, walk in, swim in, or surf in, depending on your preferences and skills. Bring your sandles, beach
towel, etc. Have a blast.

beautiful sand that you can drive on or lay down and soak up the sun. The water was a little cold in early March.

The New Smyrna Beach is so beautiful and the sand is like so soft and silky. Had many enjoyable walks while here.

We have been coming to New Smyrna Beach with family for decades. We used to walk from our condo to the jetty and not all of us were able to make the walk this visit, so we rented three six person golf carts and were not only able to go to the jetty, but to the other end where car traffic is permitted.

we have been coming here for the last 5 years
this one of the cleanest beaches we have been
the surf is great and access to the beach is plentiful
this is Florida's best kept secret

The best of all beach worlds is right here in NSB! Drive-on beach, public restrooms, downtown NSB access (restaurants, clubs, shopping), and miles of gorgeous sands. We get the annual beach pass so we can drive-on anytime (pays for itself after 5 visits) and soak up the rays of sunshine, swim in the ocean, ride our bikes on the beach, play bocce ball, picnic, birding, and whatever else comes our way (many people fish off the beach or jetties).
We come here year-round! We love to ride our bikes from the Ponce Inlet down to the 27th Ave beachfront park. We also love this beach because it's family-friendly and people are very respectful towards each other.

Having lived in NSB for a number of years now, I can honestly say it is one of the best beach towns I have ever visited.
Amazing restaurants and the beach sand is soft and lush. (Unless you are further South on the island where it gets more course.)
One of the few beaches that you can cycle on and from 27th on North, you can drive too.
Parking is expensive and you will pay higher prices for food as it is a destination location.
Best to not come on a holiday as the crowds can be difficult and you may not even get on the beach.
Overall, we love NSB!

Fun time, clean beach and lotsa shells too ! Was a little cool, but the kids still went barefoot and my 5 year old grand daughter tripped and got her butt soaked !

I cannot speak to what the beach is like when it gets warmer, or during the day. When my wife and I were in NSB for our anniversary, we roused ourselves early to make it to the beach for sunrise.
And we were not disappointed! The close-packed sand was easy to walk on, the beach was not too crowded, so that my wife and I felt alone even though there were other people out. And the sunrise itself was as lovely as any beach sunset I have ever seen.

We went here the day before Memorial Day in May 2017. It was not very crowded at all. The beach is extremely clean, with no trash or rocks or seaweed. The beach isn't a white sandy beach to be honest, but it was still quite pleasant overall.
The water was just a tad rough, but you can walk out fairly far before the water becomes deep. Parking was $10 to park on the beach, which is what we did. I'd recommend parking on the street or in a private lot (cost more) if you plan to stay past 7:00pm, because that's when cars need to be off the beach if you don't want a ticket.

You can drive your car right into the beach for $10, very convenient! It's a straight beach that stretches in both directions as far as you can see. Fine sand, gentle surf, just gorgeous.

My family has been coming here for 30 years and now I bring my kids! Love this place as it’s kid friendly and not overcrowded!

Beautiful drive on beach with lots of lively shops & restaurants on the Flagler boulevard. Plenty of action & fun events.
Something for everyone!

This is my home town, born and raised. The beach is fantastic. We have areas where you can drive and areas where you can’t. The parks allow dogs and have great places to walk, fish and swim. Food and drinks galore.

Reminds me of Delray Beach 10 yrs ago.
Small local shops, many many locsl restaurants
People having fun and a awesome beach with the addituonal of being able to park your car in the sand, in the beach and jus go swimming. Or kayaking in the river
Will be back

In a windy afternoon went for a group walk on the beach. The beach is very wide, flat and sand is very firm and nice for a long walk. Be sure to take along a windbreaker or a warm cover this time of the year.

You can drive directly on the beach. You have easy access to a number of small restaurants and food trucks.

My husband and myself are snowbirds from Canada who spend 5 months south each year. We usually stay in California but decided to try Florida this year as it is so much closer. The beach is beautiful and stretches for miles. The downtown is full of quaint restaurants, shops, hotels and stores. There is a lift bridge over the Indian River and you can get caught with the bridge rising and have to wait until the boats go through. There is a family of hens and roosters that reside in the middle of town and crow frequently for the delight of the tourists.

Great beach you can drive onto. The area of Flagler ave has cute shops and restaurants. Quintessential beachy vibe throughout easy to get to and no problem parking.

Quaint, old school, mom and pop, until recently, those were adjectives people used to describe this hidden gem of a beach town. Radical rezoning and development, courtesy of the mayor and city council have now killed the old charm of the beach side. Grid-lock, wall to wall people, jam packed bars and restaurants and stressful desperate searches for a parking spot are now the norm. High rise condos, town homes and hotels are being built one after another. The infrastructure is now overwhelmed in the tourist district and about to get worse as a new, giant hotel one block from the beach is about to open. If you must go, try to go mid week and go early to grab a spot. Just five years ago this place was so unique, sadly it is now turning into another Daytona Beach.
Drive onto the beach, set up your umbrella or tent to spend a memorable day. Best days are weekdays, far less crowded. The upper end of the beach close to the inlet is where you can watch the surfers.
