Great fun in the City by the Beach, Oceanside

By 101BikeGuy |

If you only go to the Sunset Market for your dinner only you miss much of the fun that happens all around. There is entertainment going on in all of the festival area. Yes there is the bandstand with the Featured Entertainers, but there are more scattered around to make you time unforgettable... And yes you can buy all kind gifts and nifty kids stuff.
Fun for the whole family

A Gem of a Market

By C K |

So many quality choices and well organized so that there were not duplicates. All of us are looking forward to going again!

Tourist fest but good produce sometimes

By Matthew H |

I come here every Thursday and during the summer it is pretty packed with tourists. However they are some good choices here for low calorie sweets and fresh produce from different suppliers. If you do come then bring a bodyguard because it gets pretty crammed on the streets. Forget bringing a bike because you will have to force your way through crowds. Good luck and good shopping.

Alot of food options fun to see

By Markandjennie |

Every thursday night 5-10. Really didnt get fully going until around 6:30. We got there around 5:30 was not crowded yet. Lines of food booths with everyone selling and making fresh food. Very cool place to come eat and b entertained.

Wonderful Night Market

By George Meredith |

This is just the sort of beachside town night market you would design if you were doing it yourself. Live music and a party atmosphere with probably 50 craft and 50 food vendors. Every kind of food from around the world at street fair prices. There is nearby municipal parking and good lighting and security. This is held on Thursdays only so if you're near Oceanside make the trip for a great experience.

Something Special

By JoAnn70820 |

Locals from surrounding towns, recommended this event. They were all right! If you go with someone fun, this can be a really nice evening. The band was perfect, playing songs from the 60's and 70's. Lots of food booths to select from...we could have selected a better booth. Loved the family atmosphere, lots of people had well behaved, beautiful dogs...I'm a dog lover! It was fun to watch families having a good time together. Wish I'd been with someone who wanted to dance.

Great food vendors!

By Dickson Y |

They have a great selection of different food vendors but not many farmers stands during the sunset market. Also a live music band adds a good vibe to the market. Be prepared to bring cash as many vendors don't take credit cards. Parking is getting tougher due to construction across the street.

Thursday Evening Delight

By KRTravels62 |

Families are welcome, all sorts of food, desserts, and live music. it does get pretty packed and you may have to park and walk about 5 minutes but its not a bad walk. fresh fruits and vegetables are also sold here and its minutes walk from the Oceanside Pier for a night of fresh air, walks and good food.

A great taste of Oceanside...

By pitztop2019 |

Oceanside has a nice weekly market on Thursdays all year round. It spans about There's a nice mix of produce, novelty items, food, and local entertainment. Parking can be a bit of a problem unless you don't mind walking a bit.

A Different Point of View

By AtDogBeach |

Oceanside's Sunset Market and Street Fair has been a local happening every Thursday evening for over a decade now. As a resident of Oceanside for over 30 years, I can tell you that downtown "O" has remarkably changed for the better, and the Sunset Market is one of the reasons why.
This isn't your average farmer's market (that takes place in the morning, and is far from average). The Sunset Market is cool. It's hip. It's quirky and funky - with people watching at it's finest.
But I may be biased. I am a vendor. I peddle home made caramels. I love Oceanside and our markets and our funky old school beach town vibe.
Come to the market hungry as the food is world class and enjoy one of life's little pleasures in Oceanside - the Sunset Market!

Awesome!

By sjes90 |

While staying in Oceanside, California my husband read about the sunset market so we decided to check it out and it was so cool! There are tons of vendors of a wide variety and more food than you can imagine!

The place to be on Thursday nights in Oceanside. Always a great time.

By Jim S |

Meet your friends each week. Make new friends. Lots of choices of good food from around the world as well as local food to eat. You cannot go home hungry. Interesting items to purchase for yourself or gifts. Many items are made here locally. One of a kind items. Entertainment each week is different. I understand the Sunset Market in Oceanside is the largest evening market in the state of California now.

This is the place to go!

By CanonPrime |

Didn't know a thing about this happening before we arrived but when we asked someone about the signs me saw for it we HAD to go. While there were some things to buy that weren't food oriented (jewelry, clothing, etc.) it was all of the food stalls that were the stars of the show and our tummies!

You can eat around the world here! We tried Indian, Mexican, Turkish, Jamaican, Filipino, BBQ and on and on. I would seriously be in trouble if I lived close by. The fun, the food, the atmosphere was more than I could hope for. Luv luv luv it!

Put it on your to-do list.

By NCarolina Yeti |

Lots of great vendors with unique items, tons of food tents, live music, hip atmosphere and family friendly.

By snoopywife |

The West African lady and her sambosa (i think) are sooo good. I have eaten them here and at the Vista market as well. My favorite is the spinach one.

Like a fair without the rides.

By hopalongrving |

So many places to buy food from every corner of the world. Many people brought their dogs (though I would caution against this if they have sensitive stomachs as we saw many being opportunistic snackers.) Some of the booths take cards but we would suggest bring cash to ensure you can eat/shop where you want. The market gets increasingly crowded as the evening goes on so if you aren’t into crowds head there early in the night. Parking lots are nearby for a $5

Too crowded for comfort

By Jennifer P |

This market is a repeat idea of the morning market, only many more vendors spread out over many blocks. It also featured live music here and there.

Unfortunately, the place was so packed with people and their dogs it was hard to push through the crowd and visit the various booths. The vendors featured in the evening are different than those in the morning; some of the food vendors were the same, while many were different as well.

Overall, it was way too crowded to be enjoyable, and we very much enjoyed the smaller, morning market much better.

Great Location, Good food and entertainment

By Kim G |

This is such a fun thing to do, go stroll near the beach listien to live music, buy cool stuff, eat some great food, pick up fresh produce and flowets. If you have people visting you take them to the Sunset market everone I have taken there has had a great time. Be sure to check it out.

Fantastic foods offered along the streets

By Frank K |

Tents were lined up along the streets offering food.choices from countries around the world. There was everything from Argentine potatoe cakes to Tunesian quiche. Especially delicious were the lobster rolls made with fresh Maine lobster and followed with amazing powdered beignets for dessert. This is a must attend event for anyone who seeks great food. It's held every Thursday beginning at 5:30 in the evening.

I really enjoy the market

By nmrick |

we go to the market whenever in Oceanside its somthing to do.My wife likes the bands and we like the array of different food booths and all the free samples

Great fun on Thursday night

By vbrother |

This market is great. It's a nice evening out and if you have picky eaters anyone can fine something that will appeal to them from African to good old American home cooking. Many merchants also give samples of the food We had Vietnamese, Hawaiian, Russian food and finished off with great cheesecake cups. The shopping is also a great deal of fun and there are some very talented artisans on site. It is so much more interesting than mall shopping as you can talk to the artisans and see some truly beautiful crafts. There is also live entertainment that was very good.

A great way to spend the evening with family or friends.

Treasures to find!

By Linda W |

We went this morning. Loved visiting with local vendors and made some purchases of unusual treasures. Great place to meander. Looking forward to tasting our amazing fresh European pastries we purchased for later. And returning this evening.

Great way to spend a Thursday evening

By Cindy D |

What could be better then hanging out near the beach with friends while walking through the streets filled with local vendors and great food. We have purchased many items here and go back frequently. Highly recommend.

Lots of variety

By nikkiMemphis |

We enjoyed walking around and sampling all the different food from the vendors. The Vietnamese was our favorite, and lots of desserts, including a large amount of gluten free options. The non food vendors were just okay.

What a fun evening

By rhondarstewart |

We had a great evening here tonight. We had so many options of different kinds of food. There was a live band and many vendors here. The food that we tasted was great. The worst part was having to decide between all the options. You could come here every week and never have to eat the same thing again.

Wow!

By petsitter |

We walked up to the Market after not going to it for about 6 years. It has grown. Last time we came it was more a craft fair. There were so many food booths. All kinds of international foods. Go hungry! We had a big lunch and so could not eat very much. Next time will skip lunch and dinner and indulge.

Food trucks, crafts, local music all in one place!

By Pineapple59 |

I was looking forward to this night event - especially after all the reviews it generated - and we were not disappointed! From the lobster rolls to the local Mariposa homemade ice cream (Mexican chocolate flavor my favorite!)all while strolling to local band playing and families, community out and about - not just tourists in the heart of Oceanside. We cannot stress enough - there will be food for any & all your foodie friends and family - no matter their tastes! We wish this was here when we lived here, but will definitely come back.

Lots of selection

By Daniel C |

Lots of great food and handmade goods vendors! Enjoyed a nice early fall night out with family scoping out the various vendors and enjoying Vietnamese grill and gyros. A great addition to the Oceanside scene

Fun place!

By arlakset |

This is a fun place. Vendors are nice, not too pushy. They offer quality hand made products and great food. There’s also live music. It’s family and pet friendly. Try the popusas (Salvadorian food) They’re delicious! Also the Turkish food is really good!

More than Expected

By O3797BYvictors |

It is a great place to visit. Our friends from Japan really enjoyed their visit. A lot of this to look at and buy from the local vendors and enjoy the music...

Great Evening market

By Marlynn P |

This is the place to be on Thursday evenings when visiting Oceanside. It's not too big but has great options for food, always a live band on stage, lots of fun, unique items available for purchase.

Something for everyone with a pulse!

By pgcorky |

My wife and I love the Sunset Market - even when it's just for a stroll to see people and their pooches. Yes, it is dog friendly and you'll see everything from a 3 lb Chihuahua to 170 lbs of Great Dane. And if the variety of locals and their pets isn't enough, check out the food. Great way for everyone in a group to get their way - without having to compromise. Hawaiian BBQ, Thai, Vegetarian, Sausages and Burgers, Indian, Filipino, and on and on. And personally, I like to stop into Stone Brewing for a fresh pint (or two) to restore my energy when it flags.

Vendors have a fun selection of things - clothing, jewelry, crafts, gifts. My wife bought a pretty sterling silver ring last time - lovely and not too expensive.

Live music is always featured, and it's obvious that it's a draw - though my ears don't let me get too close anymore. Kids are sure to enjoy the large inflatable slide that seems to be a regular attraction.

In all, good fun on a Thursday night in Oceanside.

Great time

By Susan M |

What a fun experience! So many food to choose from. Wish our stomachs could have held more! Great entertainment as well.

meals from around the world

By Doug G |

We were told about it sitting in a hot tub, and decided to go. Well not to be disappointed we found parking (challenge) and walked a block to see an amazing variety of food cooked on the spot and served with a smile or a laugh. We spent half an hour exploring food and then We had planked salmon and ribs both amazingly good and priced very good. Then after more exploring ended up with an amazing creme brule, as yes they had desserts at this cornucopia of food.
If in the area of Oceanside on a Thursday GO TO THE SUNSET MARKET.

Amazing variety of international cuisine

By R8574VYpauls |

Loved this - did not expect such excellent variety made by the real deal - people who come from the countries the booths represented. Argentine empanadas made by Argentineans, Polish Gołąbki and pierogi made by poles, Venezuelan arepas made by Venezuelans. Nice live music, and great craft beer nearby. If I lived in Oceanside, this would be my Thursday night staple.

Thursday night must do!

By Dancingdell |

We usually go to Oceanside each year and make sure our visit includes at least one Thursday so we can go to the market. The good choices are varied and I haven't found anything I didn't like. Atmosphere is great, people are friendly. Give it a try.

Fun for non-surfers, too

By Amy L |

As a non-surfer, I was unsure if this would be of interest, but my whole family enjoyed the visit. It's small, but worth a stop.

ALWAYS LOVE GOING

By Getaway783051 |

We always visit the Oceanside Sunset market when we are in town. This market is huge! Plenty of vendors. Food for days! Not just carnival style food. Quality and variety is what you’re going to find! Some vendors even gave samples! Live music with plenty of seating. Plenty of dessert vendors as well. There’s definitely something for everyone here! We ride our bikes to avoid any parking issues, and they even have a bike corral for us to lock up in. Don’t miss this weekly event! Definitely worth the trip

Worth a Thursday night

By 365TravelRN |

Sunset Market

By REMAXSeagazeRealtor |

More fun for the tourists. Some unique items to buy, lots of good food to try, live music. Since I live in Oceanside, it's kind of the same old thing.

Come in the morning; come back in the evening!

By TNTNMN |

According to the 2025 O'side Tourist book, the market is open 9-1 on Thursdays, year-round. Come back in the evening 5-9 for the food vendors and music. You can download the free book from visitoceansid.org. describing what's available in Oceanside and the area.

Thursday Evening in Oceanside

By Kathleen H |

It had been more than a year since I had stopped by the Sunset Market in downtown Oceanside, and are we glad we did! The food vendors had more than doubled, and it was a lively scene. We tried Philippine pancet noodles (sorry if the spelling is incorrect) with lumpia (eggrolls) and they were awesome. We also sampled and then bought some Thai "street food" which included lobster balls, and barbqued pork.Delicious! I tried a Jamaican beef pie (like an empanada) and it too was tasty, and the chefs were giving samples of talipia fish in a tasty sauce. There is something for everyone including pizzas, steak sandwiches, Greek salads and wraps, West African tamales, chocolate-dipped strawberries, handmade ice creams, donuts, cupcakes. fresh fruit. It is all packed into a few blocks with very reasonable prices and live music. Not much seating, however, so be prepared to walk around with your food. The Sunset Market is right on the coast and it can be chilly in the winter when the fog rolls in, but lots to warm the spirits.

Good variety food vendors and music

By kirby3333 |

Went to the day market and sunset market here four times the 5 weeks we were visiting. The day market is small but nice but the evening market is like a mini state fair. Sooooo many choices of food. A few entertainers. Pony rides for kids. Very dog friendly and good variety of vendors. It's very crowed later on. It's from 5-9. I wish we had something like this where I am from. Good going Oceanside!!!

Fun on a Thursday night!

By mreszka14 |

This market is great. There are so many good food and dessert stands. You can basically find any type of food, so don't worry if you're a picky eater. There are also merchants that sell jewelry, clothes, etc.

This is a must do if you're in Oceanside on a Thursday night!

By Yakky10 |

Please see my review on the farmers market, the sunset market is a must do if you are in Oceanside. Fantastic food of every kind, deserts were to die for.

A Multi-Cultural Dining experience

By Karen M |

Our AirB&B host told us about the Marketplace that takes place on the Main Street of Oceanside on Thursday evening. It was wonderful! There were food booths, with foods from all over the world, prepared as we waited. There were all kinds of crafts, live music, inflatables for the kids, and lots of people - who were are friendly! It was a fun, relaxing atmosphere; a great way to spend an evening!

Wonderful surprise on our whim Oceanside visit

By Caseylf |

The Thursday market and street fair which follows is amazing! There were so many booths, art, entertainment, and reasonably priced items. It was really a great surprise, and kept us in Oceanside longer than we had planned, but made for a great little excursion. I plan to go back any Thursday that I'm in the area.

Great way to spend a Thursday night

By Donald S |

What a fantastic way to spend a night. Hundreds of booths full of crafts, foods and specialty items. There must by near fifty selections of food alone. There is a band singing while you wonder through the booths. The later it gets, the busier it gets. A must visit if you're in the area.

By Martin D |

Not just a great veiw of our beautiful sunset but good food and local music nice to see the whole community come togetger on a thurdays afternoon

Even bigger and better than the daylight Farmer's Market!

By Patricia R |

Unbelievable choices for take out meals, eat on the street meals and an array of food to purchase. I was blown away. I have never been to a Sunset market with so much to buy and all of it nice. Not much tacky stuff at all. My husband and I had the best Sushi and Tempura we have ever tasted. The merchant prepared it right in front of me. Six pieces of shrimp/avocado cost only $6.00. My husband got the Tempura Platter. We watched them prepare it in front of us. Other food booths were equally popular and I am told equally wonderful.

Great surprise

By DanfromNZ |

We decided at the last minute to stay in Oceanside. Stumbled across the market while looking for dinner. Totally awesome market! The stuffed hash browns are great.

Fun for the entire family

By Sean S |

This was our first visit to Oceanside and was told by any people that we had to visit the Sunset market.
We were not disappointed.
The massive amount of food options was incredible. There were so many choices, my wife, myself and our son all had different things to eat. The craft and toy booths were very popular with our young son. He even got his Caricature done!
We all enjoyed the market and will go again the enxt time we visit Oceanside.

Great Community Event!

By beneraphael |

This is a great community event! There is always good food, great music and a variety of vendors.I got my bracelet repaired from a jeweler who was there!

Thursday Night Fun and Food

By Len2014 |

Staying in Escondido we went to the sunset market for an evening. I ate salmon from a place which cooked it on a board over open fire. You could get 4,6, or 8 oz, portion with salad, side or both. It was the best meal for the money I had during our stay in California. My wife had a polled pork sandwich from a nearby vendor which was also good but would have been excellent with a little more sauce. Finished with an ice cream cone, some music and shopping, Great time!

By Ashley954 |

The Oceanside Sunset Market has a lot of food choices to choose from. We tried the artichokes, which were delicious! They have a few fresh fruit and vegetable vendors that offer beautiful suggestions as well. Remember to come hungry! They also have other vendors as well. Good place to people watch. Not a lot of areas to sit. Be prepared to walk.

Great Time!! Good Food!!! Family friendly!

By shellydon |

This is a great time! I have never seen an outside market so big!! So many vendors, live music and great choices in food. Don’t miss this!!

VERY Nice!

By urbanguy |

I read about it, but thought it was just one block long. No, it's way bigger than that.

Lots of people, dogs (too many), non-food vendors, and food vendors. Yes, food of just about every ethnicity. We had a grand time and were very impressed.

Great food!

By HappyDiner2011 |

Great to wander round here and try all the local produce. My husband and I tried some curry, a waffles, homemade lemonade, and ice cream all from different stands. We even took cupcakes to go as well!

good eats

By outtherecamping |

We arrived in Oceanside on a Thursday afternoon, lucky us! Check out the what-to-see stuff & discovered Thursday evening was the Sunset market: crafts, entertainment, & international food of every description. We had ridden our bikes to the event & walked the streets taking in the aromas & sights. It was a surprising highlight to our trip. People were friendly & samples delicious. Choices were difficult to make, but we settled on some real Italian lasagna that was to die for. Keeping international we had Hawaiian ice for dessert. Will definitely put Oceanside on our return list, just for this experience again!

A must do in Oceanside weekly

By Shanonbrant |

The Oceanside Sunset Market every Thursday is a staple of Oceanside that cannot be missed. It is always a great way to spend a Thursday evening indulging in the open air market. There are a lo of local vendors and the street food offered at the many food tents will delight your tastebuds.

best before dark

By eroth40 |

it really has nothing that we have not seen before in other street fairs. The music is really a hit and miss...I don't think they really care about the quality....or perhaps its just fine for those in attendance.
It get really packed and after dark, to me, a bit sketchy.

Sunset Market in Oceanside

By Pamela H |

I love the market it is very well organized and the food it YUMMY! Lots to do at night and I get veggies n the day. Parking is only an issue right now as there is construction going on, but normally there is plenty of parking, I have never walked more than a block! Definitely a must see when in Oceanside!

Big deal in this little town

By Joyce V |

This is a serious Sunset Market. We were happy to discover that the Sunset Market is held every Thursday night, year round! You can find any ethnic food here and the sky is the limit. We've enjoyed Pirogi's, BBQ, gyros, tamales, pizza and gluten free desserts! They have it here for all to enjoy. The bands each week are really good to listen to. Good food and good family fun.

Great eats and music on a budget

By Stitchin'goddess |

The original plan was to wander the market, listen to the music and head out to eat someplace later. After a walk past all the different food offerings, we realized we were crazy not to sample some of the terrific food options available at the market. We all purchased meals from different vendors and enjoyed sampling the vast assortment of cultures represented. The accompanying music was outstanding-a great evening that ended far different than originally planned.

Great Oceanside Attraction

By Brigette S |

Music, food trucks, fresh produce and unique gift items. The Sunset Market is full of events and give everyone something to do for your whole family.
Music is a fun time and the community has a real gem in this event.

Lots Of Food, Eclectic Assortment Of Merchandise

By jayhawkbrian |

My wife & I checked out this market at the recommendation of the concierge at the Oceanside Wyndham where we were staying. Very short walk to it. We bought a few fun odds & ends. Prices were generally good for most of the merchandise. The band playing that night was very good. The number of food vendors was overwhelming & the smells had my mouth watering the whole time until we ate. Just about any kind of ethnic food you could imagine. Overall a very enjoyable outing.

Can't Go Wrong

By Drumraine |

Street markets can be a hit or miss kind of affair but not this one! You can always be sure of great variety of food, terrific quality and items not to be found in most neighborhood markets. All this and live music too!

fun family market

By MonRo01 |

The Market is great -we had a blast. So much to see and everyone so friendly. Don't forget your reusable bags :)

Sunset fun at Oceanside

By Rebecca F |

We were visiting in the area and it was suggested to check out this Thursday night activity. A variety of food vendors as well as other merchants line the streets in Oceanside. There is also live music in different corners of the market. We also walked over to the pier. Beautiful evening to be part of this weekly event. Parking may be the only issue for those attending. Glad we checked it out.

Mostly a Food Market

By Cindy J |

Go hungry - there is an abundance of food booths. The Indian food booth with the samosas was excellent, the creme brulee booth...yum - so many to choose from. I found the crafts somewhat sparse and not to my taste, but enjoyed walking around while grazing the food booths. There is a main stage for music and then 2-3 smaller areas for music at the end of each aisle. The lines can get long and the area between booths can get really crowded, but it all adds a vibe to the event.

Street Vendors and Food Galore

By jlsarae |

This was awesome, definitely recommend it if you like the street fair atmosphere. Lots of great food at reasonable prices. Fun booths to check out and interesting people. Was my second favorite thing we did on vacation (beach was first!)

Where else can you hear live music outdoors on a Thursday? Great fun

By capitollover |

There are about 2 blocks of food and merchandise vendors in the "downtown" part of Oceanside every Thursday evening from 5:00-9:00 p.m. The live band started promptly at 5:00, and was very good. On the night we visited, it was a local Blues band, but there is a different band each week.

The market is both kid and pet friendly (on a leash. The pets, not the kids).

Parking is scarce, as some of the lots are closed for the band staging area and for vendor parking. However, we parked easily about a block away on a cool December evening. I suspect it is not so easy during the height of tourist season. There are also designated (guarded) bike areas, and they encourage locals to bike or walk.

There are ample opportunities to eat any kind of food you can imagine: Kebabs, Greek Gyros, BBQ, smoked salmon, Mexican, etc., etc. Bring your appetite.

The sunset is visible from some parts of the vendor area (middle of the street), but it is only a very short walk over to the pier if you want sunset photos.

What a fun place. Kudos to Oceanside.

A Foodie’s Delight

By Lynner2 |

Oceanside Sunset Market is a lively event with music and lots of vendors selling various items as well as food. The Market is truly a foodies delight! Any kind of ethnic food you crave - from Kenyan to All American BBQ in one place! We make it a point to go every Thursday night to have the amazing poke bowl at Leo’s Kitchen! It’s made to order on the spot - always fresh and delish! To satisfy your sweet tooth, you’ll find an assortment of vendors offering a variety of desserts - some ethnic plus other favs as well! Mark your calendar for Thursday nights at 5:00pm until 9:00pm and come on over to the Market for an unforgettable experience!

The Oceanside Sunset Market is a must if visiting the area.

By smithd071066 |

Several blocks of local vendors, fresh food, live music and entertainment. A big party that is family oriented. Held every Thursday in downtown Oceanside. A very short walk from Springhill Marriott. The only issue we had was trying to decide what food we wanted to eat. The food smells were awesome and very tempting. They don't just have homemade, cooked to order food for sale, there are vendors there selling their homemade goods/art. Very creative people. If you want something unique and made in CA, this is the place to find it. From
fresh flowers/plants grown locally, to roasted almonds, ice cream, homemade pet beds, artwork, etc. They have just about anything a tourist would want. Friendly people who are willing to help and provide excellent customer service.

great time for evening pleasure

By roya973 |

Lots of food and music. Arts and craft booths and very friendly vendors. close to transit station for easy access

Great food, beach and sunset!

By jm6234 |

If you want to enjoy this market, have a little breakfast and that's it for the rest of the day. Then walk around to see all the vendors before trying anything. There's so many options it's unreal, but you'll really enjoy it. To end the evening you can walk across the street to oceanside pier across the boardwalk, watch the surfers, fishing, and beautiful sunset!

Fun place with lots of food options

By ChrisandJudy1000 |

We were lucky enough to arrive in Oceanview on Sunset Market day (Thursday). We prefer a sit-down dinner, so ate before arriving at the market at about 7pm. This may have been a mistake as there was a huge variety of food available - all types/cultures/etc..

The market occupies just a few streets in the downtown area, so it is easy to get to and easy to walk around. There was a big crowd on the night we went, but walking about was still pretty relaxed. We always felt completely safe. Ample public parking available close by.

Cannot imagine not going to this market if you are in Oceanview on the right day. Great way to spend a couple of hours.

Yes I have going to sunset market for 10 years nice and have live in Oceanside for 52 years and love it so nice here

By bradleyd986 |

Love it so nice sunshine in each day I have live here for 52 years the best place see you all there super bbb

Awesome experience

By MephistoSoul |

We changed our schedule to make sure to return to Oceanside for the market. While not sure why to expect we were extremely surprised by this market. The amount of vendors and food choices was phenomenal and while extremely crowded it still was easy to get around and wait times were short. The food that we tried was awesome and our only wish is that we were able to try more items.

Amazing People Watching

By Claudio G |

This place is amazing with so much to see and eat, So many food vendors from good old American Southern BBQ to Vietnamese dishes. There's also please of places to satisfied your sweet tooth.

Fun times all around.

Thursday night only, lots of great food

By mountainpete |

First, street parking at the meters close to the pier is free after 6 pm. Try and get a spot there if you can. The walk to the market is 3 blocks straight inland and through the tunnel from the pier.

More food, less vendors. Lots of great food choices. Loud and crowded the evening we were there. If you like street food, this is the evening to visit.

Sunset Market aka FOOD market :-)

By Wizza87 |

If you feel like eating, this is the place to be. There are so many different stands where you can really get anything for your liking. Being vegetarian there was even enough for us too and also a couple of vegan places. Loved it. A shame you can't sit down somewhere to eat, you have to sit on the curve.

Lots to see but the crowds!

By StefanieMD_69 |

If you have a stroller please keep it at home. This little street fair was jam packed with food vendors, small pop up shops and entertainment. The streets were PACKED! It was a bit difficult to move with the crowds and I saw a man with a stroller just stuck in one place unable to move. Our grandson did enjoy the bounce house obstacle course and the kids were really well behaved (bigger ones helping little ones, super nice to see)!

Life Band

By MeuterMedia |

Thursday is the day to come to Oceanside, Morning market fresh produce until 1 p.m. but than 5 to 9 p.m. let the party begin. Life band, 20 plus food vendors, no food truck stuff, food from all over the world! Korean BBQ, Greek, Italian, Philippine food and much more. Also 50 plus other vendors selling hand made goods. Highly recommended! MeuterMedia

Amazing

By Wendy W |

We stumbled on this ... only open Thursdays and was closed that evening due to rain. But it was great. Artisans in the front, food in the back. Best was Baba Food with a great assortment of hummus, pita, dips, and lots of free samples. And the man running the booth was a riot.... he said the Irish invented hummus (we know that's not true but we laughed a lot). We bought a bunch. Fabulous strawberries and produce.

Great Street Market

By MJWalsh |

The only thing I don't love about this market is that it's on Thursday night, and I'm rarely able to get to Oceanside on a Thursday night. Great local produce, art, hot food, music, and other things to buy, taste, see or hear. Fun for all ages and all interests.

Fun. Good food and music. Get there early. Gets crowded.

By 321gayleh |

Go early, this place can get very crowded. Music in main area is "cover band" type. Fun. people dance. Excellent roasted nuts. Delicious chocolate dipped strawberries. Cheesecake in a cup is a cross between ice cream and cheesecake. Gyros are good. Tacos are pretty good. A little something for everyone. Bounce house etc... for kids. Bought a cashmere wrap there that was super nice. Bought these delicate die cut pop up cards that were interesting. Or, just take a portable chair and people watch.

Great Post-Legoland Excursion

By Juna |

We had plans to spend the day in Legoland and I was looking for a place to hang out, eat, maybe see the beach before we headed back to Mission Beach, where we were staying. I figured it will be just around rush hour traffic when we get out of Legoland.

Bingo! Found this coincided with our planned visit to Legoland! After a short drive, we were there! We parked at the Oceanside Civic Center for free (covered parking) walked easily to the market entrance. We got there early though. The center itself was pretty nice and clean.

The market was a nice combination of all kinds of food as well as other products. They also had entertainers. My grandson got a kick out of the balloon artist...the balloon sword he got kept him busy for a while. They also had a kid play area (be prepared to spend at least $5).

Food was very eclectic. We tasted sea urchins as well as a vegan baklava!

After stuffing ourselves, we decided to walk towards the Oceanside beach. Not to be missed! More street performers, fishermen, surfers, couples....just lots of people-watching opportunities!

By the time we left, traffic had quieted down....so an evening well spent!

A Great Time Every Thursday

By BondVagaBond007 |

This is a great place to come and try some awesome food from local suppliers. You can get anything from almost anywhere from Korean to Mediterranean to Barbecue to Crepes - it’s all here, every week.

There are also some unique niche suppliers that sell everything from home gadgets, crafts, plants, and even one who specializes in Disney Trading Pins.

The only downside is trying to find parking - so if you are coming down to the market, come early! Enjoy the music, some impromptu dancers, and a generally fun vibe that you and the whole family can enjoy!

One of the best things to do in North County SD

By Sandra K |

This weekly street fair is sooooo much fun. Lots of great food, crafts, clothing, art and veggies to purchase. We love the variety of food - there's even African food that's delicious.

Lots of people and a live band always plays. Parking is available on the side streets, but come prepared to walk. Since it's a big crowd, watch your pockets like you would anywhere.

Great Food, Music, People Watching Thursday Evenings

By Patricia F |

Love coming here on Thursday evenings. Lots of food vendors from many international regions. Lots of sweets as well. There are also some vendors selling products, jewelry, clothes, candles, etc. Live music at several locations.

Great Variety of Food

By Terry S |

Make sure you arrive hungry, because this market has an unbelievable variety of food. All nationalities and ethnicities seem to be represented. At 5pm all booths appear ready to serve.

O'side market

By mmg714 |

This is a great place to try new foods. It is like an International food market. Vendors serve food from Africa, New Zealand, Thailand, Italy, etc. American foods like ribs, burgers & pizza are plentiful as well.
They have a band playing with tables and chairs so you can take a break.
Many booths selling typical street fair arts, crafts and junk.
PS. The chocolate and peanut butter cookies form Your Mamas Cookies will put you over the edge! They are heavenly.

Great Vendors

By Kathleen B |

Can't beat the beautiful weather all year long at the Sunset Market. There is a wide variety of vendors from food to shopping, and farmer's market. Love that dogs are welcome, but there are a lot of people (so make sure your dog is friendly!).

Must Visit

By teej760 |

When in the area, This sunset market is a locals only vibe for people who want to get to the heart of downtown oceanside.

Something for everyone

By sparklebirdy |

Truly enjoyed the Sunset Market. It spans down each of the four streets from the intersection of Pier View Way & Tremont. There is a live band playing on the corner. So many varieties of food. Cuban, Mexican, Asian, Indian, American, Thai, Turkish, and the list goes on. I found there to be a nice variety of vendors where you can get a good deal on merchandise without prices being outrageous. We also popped into a couple of the actual stores while we were there. Highly recommend it. It is on every Thursday night, all year round.

Every Thursday Night! Stop if You are in the Area!

By Hilda1828 |

First timer at the Sunset Market and we are so glad we made the effort!! Starts at 5 pm, but people are arriving at 4. We decided to come at three and walk the beach and pier. Super nice and relaxing. By 4:30 we were at the market and just amazed at the number of vendors. Come hungry because there is soooo much variety - hard to pick. We settled on the lobster rolls (they were devine!), tamales, slice of homemade banana cream pie, cheesecake in a cup (Wow flavors) and hot chocolate. We sat in the area where a live band was playing so we had dinner and a show. Wonderful way to spend the evening. There were several vendors as well and we did our share of shopping. Friendly folks and a great venue!! This is well attended so come early. Since we arrived so early we had no problem with parking.

It happens everyweek....Family, Food, Shopping and Music

By Margaretokeefe |

Every Thursday night in Oceanside there is a wonderful street fair that takes place, it is called the Sunset Market. There is Live Music, Many wonderful Food Vendors and Plenty of shopping. Pets (well behaved) Welcome that goes for the 2 legged pets also.
Come and enjoy Oceanside at its Best.

Fun evening for adults and kids alike

By GMAVicki |

We enjoy going as a couple or with family/grandkids. There are so many food choices that there is something for everyone. The desserts are fabulous! They always have some type of entertainment so it is a great way to spend a Thursday night

Nothing Too Exciting

By Rebecca W |

Mostly food and musicians who set themselves up off to the side. Something to do on a Thursday night.

Good food

By iippa23 |

Good food and many options for that. Too bad it's only on thursdays. Another thing that was weird for European, they didn't sell any beer or alcohol in general.

Perfect Way to End a Day

By M. W |

Oceanside Sunset Market is a wonderful weekly event. More than a Farmers' Market it has live music, artisans' booths and a wide and Wonderful selection of fresh and prepared foods. Highly recommend it!

Great outdoor market

By Wayne S |

Great outdoor market. Tons and tons of food options. If you are at OC beach this is a must do. Gets very crowded but we enjoyed it

Nice evening getaway...Just wish it was more local stuff and less imports!

By ocncapt |

I would like the Sunset Market to have less import goods, along with more produce and local items. It's nice just to walk the vendors aisles and snack along the way. Food booths are pretty good, it would be nice if there were more seating available. It is a nice feature to have in Oceanside.

Oceanside Sunset Market

By craigkordic |

Our family once really loved our time at the Oceanside Thursday night Sunset Market. I love the many different kinds of food available from around the world, the people, the items for sale, and all of the fun games, etc. for children to do.

Good event

By rad |

Good street event loaded with people and authentic food. Something for everyone, most places offer samples before purchasing and many have displays of their food choices. Our group didn't go away hungry. Prices were reasonable too. If you are here on Thursdays, stop in and you will be surprised.

Great assortment of food booths

By Karen L |

Stopped here on our way to Carlsbad. So many different types of food to choose from. Crafts and other items for sale. They pack items to go if you do not want to eat while walking or at the few tables. Music was good. Fun to see.

Lots of Goodies

By TallyMaui |

This was a lot of fun had all kinds a venders and great food with live music and nice people. Will go again.

By dexter619 |

Family and I go to this market regular since we live in the area, on Thursday nights when I don't feel like cooking. Since it's year round. depending on the weather it can be packed or empty. It's nice to always find the regular vendors and every once in a while some new ones. There's always a local band and the kids love to dance to the music.

Fun strolling around

By Mtd S |

We arrived on a Thursday which is the day this event occurs. Lots and lots of food options. Also vendors selling their wears and bands playing at various stops along the market. Enjoyed strolling around and had a wonderfule salmon dinner.

Fun

By don d |

Always entertaining. Great food. Great people watching.
Usually the music is great too. Never tire of this venue.

Excellent market

By Laura T |

This is a very large market with a large portion of food booths (which I loved). They have live music as well.

Foodie Paradise

By Valerie S |

I went to this market my first night in Oceanside and got fresh organic juice of my choice which I had for all my subsequent breakfasts, picked up orgainic Thai and fresh African dinners that I could have during my weekend, super PJ's Firehouse Jerky, unbelivable caramels, great music and vibe, lots of live music and people with dogs while the sun sets.

Fun Event

By John B |

We look forward to the sunset market every Thursday night. There are so many types and cultures of food available. You can try a different food each weekend 12 weeks...

A must do on your visit

By Tek25 |

So many great choices of food and treats! Perfect place to take a stroll and try something new. A few places to sit and eat would be great

Outdoor food and fun

By MidtownEats |

Great way to spend a Thursday evening. Family-friendly, laid back, can be crowded but not oppressively so, live music at a pleasant volume. It was nice to see so many ethnic food options. A parking spot can be challenging to find but is either free or cheap.

Best Thursday Night in a Decade

By Bob M |

For a small city, the MainStreet crew put on an amazing event (50 times a year). We arrived in time for dinner and had a difficult time wading through all the possibilities. We landed on what smelled the best and had Philly Cheese Steak Fries and then for what had the best eye appeal - beautiful cupcakes.
We plan to go back next week and make an effort to check out more of the artisans and quirky merchandisers.
I don't know how a small city can pull this off every week but Bravo!

Fun and festive!

By Judy C |

A fun few blocks of tents set up offering jewelry, crafts, produce, music, and primarily food. I was surprised at the wide variety--from the familiar (sliders, corn on the cob, BBQ) to the ethnic unique (Vietnamese, Afghani, Indian, Thai, etc.) Throw in some great desserts (cheesecake, ice cream, cupcakes, gelato), and there's no reason to go home hungry. The atmosphere is festive and perfect for families--we had a great visit with strangers while snacking on octopus!--and perfectly safe (thanks to many yellow-vested safety patrol members). A great evening activity!

music is too loud

By lew w |

I would like to walk around and see the booths without being blasted by music. They should have the music in one area where people that want it can go enjoy. Lots of fun different kinds of food booths. The usual collection merchandise for sale. Same stuff you see at every street fair.

Family Fun

By wavslide J |

The Oceanside Street Fair has a wide variety of foods, nick-knacks, and live entertainment. The bands vary from week to week.

Lively way to pass a Thursday night in Oceanside

By Brackstead |

Its a street market downtown Oceanside and it has a lot going on. Multiple food vendors - probably way more than 12 choices of street food. Usually music and some jumping things for small kids.

It occupies a main street and a couple of side streets.
Has a lot of the usual gift and t shirt stuff you see in street markets. Some produce and a cactus/succulent guy shows up from time to time.

Its a pleasant (and safe) night. If you come in by train - Amtrak, Coaster or Metrolink you can cruise the market and train back home after. Its on the doorstep of several beach front hotels.

We unusually walk around and then drop in Colima's Mexican on Pier View Way for a huge Burrito. The Stone Beer garden is cool too.

Sunset Fun

By mltalks55 |

Oceanside is never dull. This is a fun market with lots to see. Good variety of food. There is music too. You never know what you might see. There is some character that looks like Keith Richards in silver hot shorts. One week, I enjoyed one patron dancing with her dog, no its not Carlsbad but more interesting.

Great food - Gluten Free Options Too!

By MichelleG1998 |

We were on vacation in July and ran into this great outdoor market by chance. Food and atmosphere were fantastic! I am Celiac and found several tasty options. Tacos, tarts, and more. What an awesome spot for locals and tourists! Noticed that they are very dog-friendly too :).

Girlfriend thing to do.. then cocktails after. :)

By Regina T |

Great way to spend some time with friends, try some yummy treats, check out the crafts and of course most of all people watch.

Fun & yum

By Ron R |

The crowds tell the story. Booth after booth of awesome food choices. I can personally verify the dumplings and Huli Huli chicken is some of the best things I ever put in my mouth.

Great place to eat more ethnic dishes than most street markets

By xhotelcritic |

This is a fairly large and popular street market with too many ethnic food vendors to list at reasonable prices (mostly $3-10). There is also a variety of live music in the central area. This is a very popular attraction for both locals and tourists.

Expectations set too high

By on_the_go_98765 |

The morning market was not too different from this evening market. I suppose our hopes (that we would see another crepe making entity) were far too optimistic. Same old crepe company as we saw in the morning (as well as in Little Italy in S.D.) so, what else is there to entice us? We are on the search for dinner!

It almost seems like we saw the same food vendors we saw in the morning market. So, what was new? Not a whole lot.

We checked out the various vendors and decided upon Gyros and decided to buy from one of the booths. How was it? Not great, not bad, pretty much average. We have high standards, having eaten these in Athens, and Turkey, and Spain. If we were to make a suggestion to those looking for a different experience, try the Thai, Filipino, or almost any other non-gyro business. Our dinner consisted of a gyro pita bread sandwich ($8) and a chicken/salad/chopped pita meal for $12.

Would I go back? Probably not. It was okay. We've been to better.

Keep in mind that there are a great number of competitively-priced businesses that border the sunset market. I'd keep it in mind for any future visits.

Fun outdoor market with tons of places to choose from to eat.

By Wklstoywife |

I have been going to this area for years and had never been till this visit. So many food options it will be hard to choose from. I think it only happens one time a month so if you can get there, go. There is music and crafts and things to buy but mostly i think people go for the food. Very nice thing to do.

If There Were Only More Local Items

By ocncapt |

I love street fairs, farmers markets and craft fairs, but they all seem to be carrying the same imported items. I wish this one had more hand crafted, locally made items. Perhaps a whole section of local Southern California made products.

Tons of fun foods, cool to kitschy vendors

By Helga_Little_Horn |

This year was the second time we've vacationed in Oceanside. On our last visit we went to the Thursday morning market, which was quite small, but we bought some produce and pasta and had a pleasant walk around. This year, we happened on the Sunset Market -- oh my! I don't know how anyone can say it's the same as the morning market because it's way, way, way bigger, takes up a lot more street space and is way more crowded. Yes, some of the same vendors are at both but the evening one is a much larger event with many more booths.

We went right at 5 p.m. when it opened and decided on the booths where we wanted to eat: hand-cut fries with homemade garlic aioli, southern BBQ (pulled pork sandwich with mac & cheese side), amazing sweet (Nutella and banana!) and savory empanadas, Hello Dolly bars. One stand called Na Pali Coast sold things like shaved ice but what caught our eye was their "wookie" with ice cream. The wookie is chocolate chip cookie dough cooked on a waffle grill and topped with a tiny scoop of ice cream. The serving is very small but oh so delicious. We paid $6 each and upgraded our wookie with two scoops of ice cream. Not cheap but very, very good.

There is a mix of vendors and, yes, some of the goods are kind of cheap and cheesy but it's all fun to look at. The live music was pretty good -- there were musicians situated in different areas of the market. By 8 p.m. the sidewalks were jammed full and walking around was becoming a bit difficult. We don't love crowds so we'd had enough but the hours we spent there were fun and yummy and we'll definitely go to the evening market again on our next visit.

Have someone drop u off or take public transit, parking is a nightmare!

By gmac729 |

We spent at least half hour looking for parking, got stuck in a traffic jam in parking garage. Apparently this is a popular market, especially in summer, so have someone drop you off! We never got a space, so we left disappointed.

Family friendly fun

By Kimberley G |

Grab the entire family and go to the Oceanside Sunset Market. Lots of great music, dancing and food. Great for the entire family. A must see if you are staying in the area. Every Thursday evening 365 days a year.

By allan b |

After walking at the beach,I Love going here @ Oceanside Sunset Market with my wife, enjoying the variety of food of different country (specially Belgian Fries where i came from) and meeting with friends and enjoying watching live band which is my Favorite coz i love music.

Local stuff

By Ashley |

This is something you can actually do in Oceanside! Every Thursday evening, the few blocks along Pier View full up with local vendors selling everything from food to clothes. There's live music and it's always busy!

Neat, fun and good food

By FloridaBC |

We checked into our hotel and were told that there was. Street market from 5-9 near downtown. We went and were pleasantly surprised, music, treasures and trinkets, and awesome food. Pick your fancy, from what appeared to be clean and varied street vendors. We tried a couple, but would go back to the polish food or grilled. Salmon. Something for everyone and fun time... try it out.

If you can't enjoy this, you aren't trying

By greggo8 |

If you cannot walk up & down streets (due to medical or Big Macs or whatever) then this is not for you. Otherwise, enjoy the buy-ables, food, deserts, music, smells & sounds of the Sunset Market.

AWESOME place to meet and mingle

By Mwallace1390 |

Amazing people and products. The food is wonderful and the music is relaxing. I enjoyed it immensely.

Fun with the Entertainment

By Colin Archibald |

They have bands and musicians that perform while the Market is going on. They had crafts, a farmer's market. Bring a jacket as the cool ocean breezes can drop the temperature quickly

Exotic Food

By Ganda143 |

An amazing place where there are different kinds of food to choose from. Eating while watching a band performance or listening to the music is a plus. I enjoy going there on Thursdays.

Caters to tourists. Not for locals anymore.

By Amanda B |

I used to love the Oceanside Sunset Market. I could shop for my weekly local produce, grab a bite to eat, and browse items from local artisans. Not anymore, unfortunately. The local fresh produce stands are gone. All that's left are huge crowds, barking dogs, lousy bands, overpriced street food and merchandise for sale.

By CheetahBre |

Love all the variety of food and shopping. Remember to carry extra cash to try all the different types of food. Parking can get tricky.

Fun market with great food

By Azsunshinelover |

I call this "Oceanside eat yourself ". A great variety of food options for dinner, all good. Also lots of baked goods . Hard to choose. Also artisans selling their wares. The live band and singers add to the great ambience.

Hard to believe this event is EVERY Thursday!

By Amyrose1 |

The Sunset Market in Oceanside is a great way to spend a Thursday evening. The streets are filled with vendors selling foods of all nations. Definitely come hungry. Something for everyone. There are also lots of stalls with crafts and cool things for sale. There is always a band playing too. A fun night in Oceanside. You can walk to the pier from here too and watch the sunset!

So many types of food

By Paula P |

We were a party of two vegetarians, 1 vegan and 2 meat lovers. The variety and quality of all the food stands was amazing. Stands were clean and the prices reasonable. Almost sensory overload making choices. The crowd was orderly and I felt very safe. Lots of good music also. We had a great time!

We'll be back!

By morris91030 |

Were in Oceanside visiting friends and they took us to this market. What fun! Great music, huge variety of food, interesting tchotchkes for sale. On a warm evening, what's not to love?

A Nice Thursday Evening Event

By killerrat007 |

I like coming here on Thursday nights to just have a bite of food and relax.

There is usually a band playing music, people walking their dogs, people trying to sell you things and lots of vendors.

While you might be able to find things online cheaper - coming here to shop helps out your local community.

It is a nice way to end the week, especially if the weather is not too cold or too hot. I recommend you come here once just to see what it is all about - who knows, you might come back more often after you have some food or dessert.

Hope to see you here.

Oceanside Street Fair Every Thursday

By William H |

Fun and food on Oceanside streets every Thursday is especially fun at sunset. There are many vendors, food booths, free music, fun for the kids, and meeting Oceanside locals and visitors having a great evening. Also fresh local produce, flowers, sweets, and desserts.

Food and entertainment at the Sunset Market

By Cjm7603228 |

Downtown Oceanside is the place to be on Thursday. In the morning there is the Farmers market. And the evening in the Sunset Market. There are lots of booths selling all kinds of items. There is a play area for kids but it cost money. The food booths are amazing. Every nationality of food you can think of such as Mexican, Jamaican, Philippine, Hawaiian, Japanese, and many more. There is a band that plays and tables and chairs to sit and eat. Of course you are only a block from the beach where you can take a walk and watch the sun set. A fun place to spend Thursday evening.

Best Food!

By fairgirl59 |

Go hungry. There is so much amazing food to eat. Lots of meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. This is NOT a farmer's market - no fresh fruit or vegetables. But foods from all around the world - US, Kenya, Indian, Mexican, Asian/Oriental. Appetizers/small eats, salads, soups, entrees, and lots of desserts. There are a few boutiques, and the music is pretty good, too. We were staying on the strand and walked (.8 miles) there and back. A great way to spend an evening.

By Dorcas C |

I live in area and am a regular. Great for families. Live band is
Free. Good food and fun stuff for
Sale. Upbeat friendly happy people
Well mannered dogs on leash

Love going to this Market

By Judy C |

When I am here on Thursday, this is where I always go, love all the food and other vendors, the band playing, walking around so much fun. Oh and the lady who sells the chocolate covered Macaroons, that are so delicious. Highly recommend going if you are there on a Thursday night starts at 5 pm.

Put this on your "to do" list when in Oceanside!

By cdenoi |

My husband and I have been frequenting Oceanside for 30 years plus; when he was in the Marine Corps and now as full-time, retired RV'ers. What a fabulous experience....food for every palette and from across the world, unique items to purchase and fruits/veggies/flowers for sale. We LOVED Surfside Sliders, one of the best sliders we have ever tasted during our travels. The owner, Alysin Uglow, puts a unique spin on this classic mini burger....you have to try one! She also cooks for The Cup in Oceanside on Wisconsin Avenue, her breakfast croissant and breakfast burrito are just as tasty and unique. We highly recommend you visit the Sunset Market on Thursday evenings next time you are in town or if you live in the general vicinity.

Food & Fun is why I go.

By 101BikeGuy |

When I have a free Thursday evening and want to explore the globe for a different food offering I go to Oceanside's Sunset Market. From Thai Burgers, Santa Maria Barbecue to the best Tamales there is something to please. Onstage entertainment makes for a pleasant time. With this great weather they even have a Bike Valet where you can park your bike securely and get it back for just a Tip if you wish. Such fun down by the Pier and Beach.

I love open markets!

By Latnldy1 |

I really enjoy this little market. I have been there three times before and I am never disappointed!

Nice variety

By xanaduyas |

There aren't a ton of vendors, but the ones that are there are varied in what they offer. Prices weren't bad either. We brought our dogs with us, but if yours are not into tight crowds.. leave them home.

Great street market on Thursday nights with easy walk from the Pier

By BancyN |

We were vacationing in the area and came across the Thursday night Sunset Market quite by accident. What a find! They have a little of everything, great entertainment, and the food choices are amazing!! Something for everything -- from international cuisine to wonderful desserts that are locally made. Our only complaint was that we didn't come there very hungry. The location is great -off Pier View Way and close to Oceanside Pier and downtown.

Come hungry!

By Kristine O |

We do not have any weekly markets like this at home in MN, so this was especially interesting. Loved the huge variety of foods, and the fact that there were healthy options was much appreciated! I bought some dips made from cauliflower and some from almonds...all really delicious! It does get REALLY crowded so bring your patience, your wallet and an empty stomach. Yummy, yummy choices of desserts too! A MUST-DO!

By Chelsea |

Fabulous food smells, great food vendors, nice atmosphere with good music. Prices were super reasonable and people were willing to let you sample. There was a little booth that had homemade mousse in a couple different flavors that was great we bought two different kinds. The empanadas were great also a bunch of different flavors available on those. We didn't have the bacon wrapped hot dog but they looked really good and we are planning a trip back specifically for those before we leave next week. There were a lot of shopping vendors, but we we more interested in food and music. The kids also thought it was pretty neat.

Oceanside Sunset Market Thursday Nights

By 14havasu |

When we stay in Oceanside we always check out the Sunset Market on Thursday night, It takes place on Piermont and Tremont streets near the pier parking lot and movie theater. They have many different types of food booths, farmers market, live music, a small kids area and merchant booths-The $10 sunglass booth is our favorite. I believe the hours are 5-9every Thursday.

Weekly Downtown Event

By vagabondginger |

Thursday Farmer's Market is 9AM-1PM & then the Sunset Market is Thursday evenings 5-9PM.
Locals & visitors roam the street vendors for food, crafts & entertainment. And you will be entertained in any of these ways whether it's music, food, shopping or just mingling.
Great location right at Pier & Coast Highway. If you are around Oceanside on Thursdays, then you should be at one or both of these markets. It's great fun.

Eat, dance and be merry

By Coco8464 |

The oceanside sunset market is every Thursday across from the movie theater. They close two streets off and the vendors set up there. It opens around 5-9 ( not 100% on times)

There are a lot of knick knacks, desserts, food and live music. There are a few bars on the street if you want an alcoholic beverage but none offered at the actual street fair.

Gyros, street tacos, roasted corn on the Cobb and different ethnic foods.

It gets really crowded in the summer months and a lot of people bring their dogs with them. The oceanside pier is with walking distance (~5 min walk) .

Come hungry,

By Margaret W |

Great street market. There is every kind of food you can imagine to choose from! Music, ocean breeze and view. Great people watching. Plenty to buy besides food, but be sure and come ready to graze!!!

Mostly Food Booths

On this Halloween night, it was interesting to see the various costumes. That was the only reason review received extra star. We found street parking on corner of North Coast Highway and Sportfisher. This Market was mostly food booths unlike a flea market. We had late lunch and food did not appeal to us. We decided to walk to the pier for a beautiful view of the ocean.

Very Cool!

By Phil M |

Stopped by on a whim, never been to Oceanside before and lucky for me, it was a Thursday I stopped!

The market is Thursdays only, in the evening, and is pretty cool! So many food stalls, ranging from sweet to savoury and lots of traders!

Definitely worth a visit!!

What a gem

By louandgail2 |

We were in Oceanside a few weeks ago visiting our daughter. She lives within walking distance of the market. We spent an enjoyable evening tasting many different and delicious food offering s. We will definitely try it out again on our next visit.

Place for people watching

By Rick W |

The aromas from vast array of food vendors will be the first thing you notice as you approach the Sunset Market. You can choose from African to Mexican to Jamaican and everything in between. We tried the pastrami and cheese sandwich from the "Philly" Cheese Steak tent. What a treat ! Just forget about the calories and enjoy it by taking it to the Stone Brewery on Tremont. Otherwise, you'll have to juggle your food while avoiding the crowds milling around. Someone should put out "bar" table for people to stand around so they can eat in stead of sitting on a curb.

If you are a people watcher, well.. you'll not be disappointed.... and it's "pet friendly".

We have been visiting Oceanside for over ten years and always make this a must do on a Thursday night.

Must go if visiting Oceanside

By S B |

This market happens every Thursday night all year round and if you are visiting Oceanside you should definitely go. There is live music and a ton of local food vendors to choose from. It gets crowded and is more of a food fare than market. Nice, fun evening.

When in OSide on a Thursday this is a MUST

By David F |

Old-school street fair every Thursday evening. All of the usual vendors! The best part is the food choices!! Something for everyone! Bring your dog too. Fun for the whole family! I usually get my food to go and hang out at Stone Brewery. Great local beer on draft, cute oasis hidden behind some fencing, fire pits and they welcome you bringing in food from outside.

loud music and a bit on the expensive side

By agnes l |

the market is a good idea, but the music is way to loud and there are not enough places to sit down and enjoy the food you pay restaurant prices for and have to stay in line waiting for a long time. Some ethnic food ,disappointing Thai ,extreme long wait , we asked for high spice and got bland food after waiting 40 min. Loved the organic fruits and cacti selection but most of the crafts and food is just over prized .

Free Garage Parking

By Harold H |

We arrived at 5pm in the Oceanside Civic Center garage when civic center employees were leaving. We happened luckily to see the free parking at the right time. Take Civic Center, right turn on Ditmar and right on Visitor's Parking. Overhead is Oceanside Civic Center sign on overhead walkway. Google Maps Oceanside Civic Center Parking will get you there.

The Thursday night market has many hot foods and dessert. We especially liked the Tri-tip sandwich. The band music that night did not appeal to me though. The market is nice location to walk down to the fishing pier to view the sunset.

People-watching, great food, great weather, fun

By Maria R |

What better place to be at sundown than at the Oceanside Sunset Market, where you can find all kinds of delicious food, shop for unique and often local goods, enjoy the perfect weather, and be with other people doing the same thing. It is always a fun place. I always take visitors to this market if they are in town on a Thursday afternoon, and they all love it.

By martin310Chester |

We all loved this market it was so cool , live music , over 40 food stores , pony rides , craft shops , and a great crowd of locals

Family food & fun in Oceanside

By Jim44PA |

A friend suggested that we check out this event, but we didn't know what to expect. We found a great parking place, and started strolling. We were greeted by a duo performing acoustic music, and then we walked by a number of booths selling products - some homemade and some commercial. Four city blocks were blocked off in a a "cross" pattern. What really caught our attention at the center of the event were the food booths. These were not your standard pizza and burger booths, but dozens and dozens of ethnic food booths that each had a lines in front of them. There was an area to eat, with a band playing comfortable music. The crowd was diverse, with a lot of families, as well as couples and teens. Everyone was having a good time, and while there was security staff there, it did not look like they were needed. When we have out-of-town visitors in a few weeks, we will take them to this weekly Thursday night event.

Thursday night must

By Mike R |

I've been to Oceanside twice now and the event we look forward to is the Sunset Market on Thursday nights. It has all the amenities of the morning market with the addition of food. The food vendors offer smaller portions allowing you to sample the various offerings with enough variety to cover your desires. We had a grilled artichoke, ceviche, falafel, multiple deep fried offerings and brick oven pizza. Many dessert options but the best is grabbing a fresh apricot or plum from one of the farmers. We love it!

Great Thursday family dinner outing

By Stormcreator |

LOTS of food options with a little bit of crafts. We came for dinner and there was live music and so many food choices. There's even a dessert isle with all kinds of sweets. The cheesecake one was amazing. Great way to spend a few hours listening to music and sampling foods.

I call this a great "Street Fair"!

By Manuel Y |

Wow! Free entertainment, lots of fun food booths, unique products and gift booths, wonderful produce and fruit stands, flower and plant stalls, ice cream, Hawiian Ice and the best Kettle Corn ever! Did I mention they have a food stall that sells outstanding roasted corn? This may not be Disneylad but it feels as safe to me. Lots of police and security presence. Check this place out! You will not leave hungry!

delicious and convenient

By A P |

started eating at the morning farmers market for breakfast and then each member of my family had a different international cuisine for dinner. very crowded, people and dogs but everyone had a good attitude.

Plenty of food options

By fcstcc16 |

If you like having plenty of food options, the Oceanside street fair is exactly where you need to be. Several tents set up offering a variety of food choices from Jamaican to New Zealand meat pies. Prices range from $5-$9, depending on how much food you would like. Come early parking may be hard to find. Definitely worth checking out :)

Food, food, and more food

By stephen g |

Tons of good food, too much to choose from mostly. If you're only here for one of these it will be difficult to find something because everything looks good. Price ranges from cheap to expensive, but you should be able to find something to fit your budget.

The non-food booths are mostly a miss, the usual fair/market type things, nothing really out of this world or unique being sold (at least the week I was there).

Lots of fun and great food!

By arizona-mark |

this is a terrific marketplace. it has just about every type of food you can imagine, and quite a few you cannot imagine. good food, music, and a great place to people-watch.

be sure to go enjoy the sunset at the pier as well.

Weekly Food-Music-Shopping Jam

By apandaoside |

Every Thursday evening in downtown Oceanside, barring rain, between 5 & 9PM. Between 150 & 200 vendors of crafts, trinkets, t-shirts FOOD, music and lots of noise. They even have an entire street of sweets vendors: cakes, cookies, chocolate berries, FUDGE, churros, cupcakes, sugar covered nuts, waffles, kettle korn. And lots of choices for food. Lots of families. One caution: too many people bring big dogs and some appear to be 'unruly'. Although I've never heard of an incident, but caution for little kids. Oh, parking is a problem, so be prepared to walk a bit. Overall, a good time.

Oceanside sunset market

By Rich V |

This was a fun event that is held every Thursday. There is something for everyone: good variety of food, music and craft booths. It is a great way to bring together the local community with visitors to the area

Food!

By KTippetts |

This is the second time we’ve been to this and the food here is fabulous. I can recommend the hand pies, the pierogi, Filipino food (lumpia in particular), paella, Thai satay fries, and Mariposa ice cream. Everything was absolutely delicious.

Nice Hang Out

By SeeTheWorld608 |

There is always some kind of live music. Crowded by 6pm. Lots of food vendors to choose from. It's a nice way to spend the evening.

Not What I was Expecting: Three-and-a-half stars

By NWtripster |

I guess I should have figured it out from the other reviews, but I figured the Sunset Farmer's Market would have arts, crafts, produce, some food stalls, and some music. Wrong. There were about 80 stalls, 90+% of which were food vendors, and a smattering of other vendors, most selling junk, on 4 city blocks arranged in an 'X' configuration. There were 3 live music venues, one larger stage with maybe 30 people listening, and 2 smaller ones scattered about. The selection of food ethnicities on display (Kenyan, Ghanaian, Venezuelan, and other more expected varieties) was pretty amazing, but most of it looked like Americanized takes on the native foods or unappealing to me. I did like the Southern home cooking 'Sweet Potato' dessert stall, with the guy selling cakes & mini-cakes (red velvet, chocolate, key lime, and carrot among others), and pies. The key lime mini-cake and the pecan pie were excellent! I guess the moral is: if you're looking for street fair dinner and music this is a pleasant venue for that. If you're looking for a farmer's market, go to the daytime venue.

Nice street fair

By katbeatina |

Nice street fair. It tends to be the same sellers week after week but it's a nice place to browse. Good food and there is a farmers market. The local bars nearby tend to be for the local Marines only because if any shoppers pop in, they get ignored.

Momma Mia! This is a major street party!!!

By on_the_go_98765 |

When the sun sets, the strings of overhead lights come on and the whole area takes on a festive atmosphere, the likes that we have not seen in any other Farmers Market/Sunset Market anywhere, ever. This was off-the-charts spectacular in every aspect. The shops lining the Market were offering their wares (and brews) so the area really came to life.

Where to start? How about finding food stalls with every imaginable ethnic food available (we are partial to the Turkish wraps), or maybe it is the amusements set up for those who want to bungee chord jump to their hearts delight? Or maybe its the really great musical groups on stage. Or maybe it is all these things mixed together?!?

This should be a carnival by any standards. Loved it. Oceanside, you did this right. We'd come back again and again, just to experience this exciting experience.

oceanside sunset mkt

By dave O |

This is the largest market in the county, tremendous assortment of food vendors, live music, only problem no place to sit if you buy some food.

A Thursday to remember

By lolasan64 |

There's a lot going on along the streets. Music, food ,arts crafts fun interesting people and did I mention lots of delicious desserts. Plus the sunset and walking distance to the ocean. What else can you ask for on a Thursday?!

Local Hotspot

By karieoke |

A fun taste of the local eateries, breweries, vendors, shops, and entertainment. A great opportunity to see what the local flavor is all about; Oceanside locals out for a good time and socializing, spectacular sunset scenes (Davinas Grill & Bar, great spot to hang out), great vacationer event, good live entertainment, just a great market scene because it's by the Oceanside Pier.
What is nice is to go to the Regal Theater and see a movie and walk out for a great eateries and drinks for any desire you have at the moment. So go to a early matinee and enjoy the rest of the evening. It's a great plan for families, couples, ladies night-out, or any excuse you can dream up. HAVE FUN YOU ALL !!

Thursday Night Must Do

By BadDiver |

This is a great way to spend a couple of hours on a Thursday night ... come to eat, shop, listen to live music, or just people watch. The food ranges from hot dogs and burgers to just about any international food you can imagine. Live bands onstage. If you want a more comfortable place to eat rather than perch on the edge of street, go down a bit early and snag a seat at the Stone tasting garden ... then take turns going out to get some food to bring back and eat.

If you don’t know what to eat you will find it there

By Discover638525 |

This is food on steroids. Is held every Thursday night. There are so many choices of vendors offering their specialties. From anything sweet to full-blown meals. There are also other vendors they’re selling products. You go up and down the rows deciding what looks good to you. The only reason it doesn’t get five stars from us is the crowd, to many people.
On the plus side we have eaten a number of different things that we fully enjoyed. Try it out. If crowds don’t bother you you’re in the right place.

Great Evening Market

By mgalex |

This is a great evening market on a beautiful evening. Lots of booths, many of them food. In fact you can eat about any kind of food you could ask for plus lots of sweet treats. Lots of people on a warm evening. A great band playing while you wander, shop and eat.

By 7andersons |

This is more than a farmers market it is more like a Street Fair with lots of different varieties of food and many people selling crafts . There's usually a band playing and the the scene is really enjoyable. Walking distance to the pier

Support Local Shops

By Myles S |

The sunset market gives you a great opportunity to support local vendors. You can purchase everything including food, snacks, arts and crafts, clothing, etc. There are also services available such as phone and tablet screen repairs.

Don't forget to walk along the beach when you are done or stop at one of the local breweries.

All-Inclusive Evening!

By Patty B |

Like a "mini fair" every time I go. International food, such diversion in products to purchase. GREAT place to shopping for different, unusual gifts, while treating yourself to gastronomical, tantalizing tastes.

A great Thursday Night!!

By Virginia W |

This is an awesome place to find yourself on a Thursday night in Oceanside. A great night with friends family or even a date. Two streets cross over each other blocking off about 4 blocks. They are filled with food from all over the world, craft vendors, music and so much more! We loved it! We had fresh made sushi right there on the spot. We could watch them make it. Lobster tacos were also another great find! Very cool set up and I wouldn't miss it if you are in the area.

farmer's market fun

By robertajo |

This is a great place to sample a wide variety of foods and artisan craftsmen. Lots of booths with fresh veges, hand made jewelry and clothing. They typically have a live band playing in the 'food court'. A great place to spend a Thursday night!

Same old stuff

By Phil S |

It's the same stuff you see at every other evening street market. Expensive food and lots of cheap junk that's overpriced. Lots of people, teens and dogs! The morning market is 100% better! Good food, great produce and local stuff

Any Type of Food Available!

By Kathy C |

If you love open markets this is the place to come. Thursday evenings from 5-9. Music, food, flea market type items available. No matter what your food cravings are, you can satisfy them. My husband was in the mood for Caribbean food and I wanted Polish - we found both, plus Greek dessert! So much to choose from. We found some unique gifts walking through the market and the enjoyed a gorgeous sunset at the Oceanside pier, just 2 blocks down. This is a must go if in Oceanside on a Thursday evening.

Great time

By David D |

If you're in Oceanside on a Thursday night after 5 ish check out the sunset market. Many different food's to choose from and a wide variety of vendors. Family and pet friendly. It a Thursday night staple all year round. Love it

Great food with lots of vendors.

By Terry N |

The Oceanside Sunset Market is one of the best in North County. Lots of eclectic food vendors with a nice mix of various other vendors selling everything under the sun. Parking can sometimes be difficult, but the city has installed several parking structures in the area and it has improved. Close to the beach and the pier for strolls after visiting the market.

Interesting

By dulovi |

Happens every thursday nite rain or shine. Types of food from everywhere. African to lobster rolls. Sweets and baked goods. Homade goods, jewelry, and clothes. Also, various types of music. And it's all free. Have been several times as we live here. Plus only a couple blocks from beach.

Every Thursday rain or shine

By Stantrav |

Very nice vibe.......and food! I see these markets in various cities and must say this is one of the better ones. Great selection of food! Some arts/crafts and good music. Laidback!

Food of many nations

By maryannt |

This is a market for everyone in the family. Every Thursday (except Thanksgiving) from 5 to 9pm.
A great variety of food, live music, shopping from T-shirts to jewelry to decorative items. Four blocks in the heart of downtown, two blocks from the beach.
