This is a must stop garden if you are in the area. A beautiful green oasis in the middle of a very dry part of Washington. We got there early before the day heated up and walked the outer part of the gardens while it was still cool but it heated up quickly!! Spent the remainder of our visit walking in the shade, sitting by a cool pond and just letting the kids enjoy the freedom to explore

A pleasant walk with inspiring landscaping featuring an abundance of flowers and interesting plants. Good guide book and there is even online information.

By AnacortesRobert |

Great place with lots of history. The gardens are very well maintained, and the paths are clear and we'll marked. There are some places that are uneven...care should be taken there. Overall great place to visit

A very quaint garden up on the North end of Wenatchee. They have done a great job over the years to maintain and keep things in order. Take the time and drive up.

By Denise M |

This is an amazing garden with several ponds and beautiful flowers. A must see in Wenatchee. The story behind it is special as well so make sure to pick up a brochure on it. It is a beautiful place to hold an event such as a wedding.

Incredibly beautiful gardens, carved out of the hillside. Stone steps everywhere you go, waterfalls, ponds, amazing views of the valley.

Ohme Gardens was a very nice surprise to find here in Wenatchee. The trees are beautiful and the stonework and ponds were amazing. It was a cool oasis in what was a hot day.

By Joe W |

Wow!!! Was this place cool. Basically a couple worked there whole life landscaping and installing about 10 little ponds, and walk ways all around 9 acres I believe it was. I was impressed with the vision. This place was their own little Shangri-La. It was beautiful. I had to think multiple times how many years it took to lug just the flag stone for the walkways all over this property. Somewhere we learned that he went down to the river and collected it before the Dam was built. Again Impressive amount of work!! Have I mentioned yet that I was VERY IMPRESSED!!! Wow, I bet there was 40 rock benches built into the hillsides, each with nice sloped backs that made for a very comfy resting place. The fire places for a small cozy keep warm kind of fire, or one built for a large group and was the location for when you were in a bon fire mood I guess. We very much enjoyed our afternoon here, maybe a tough get around on the steep hills if you are not steady on your feet. Thats my only caution. Oh, and grab one of the ski poles no matter how good of heath you are in, nice rock trails everywhere, but some are steep and the ski pole helped.

Went there this morning. It is absolutely beautiful and worth the fee. Glad it is there for people to enjoy.

don't go if you find steps hard but go if you love gardens. See what they can do with a very steep sided valley. Mostof the green you see is not grass or trees but a range of ground cover which sets it all off. Views over industrial Wenatchee for the most part but lift you eyes to hills beyond and dream of what you will do for that dark steep bit at home

Must be able to walk, beautiful, serene, and a lot of thought put in to the plantings and natural settings

By Gailcarma D |

What a beautiful, tranquil place! I absolutely loved it! This trip was my first time in eastern Washington; I was exploring a new environment with the possibility of retiring in Wenatchee. I was not "Wowed" when I entered Wenatchee proper but I was wowed when I entered Ohme Gardens because that place is more in tune to my personality and my natural habitat. The history of the creation of the gardens is astonishing! It's exhausting just to think of the difficulties encountered in the manual labor of the couple who built the hidden pools, rock stairs, overlooks, flower gardens, lawns, shelters, waterfalls, etc. Yes, I would rather live in Ohme Gardens than in the city of Wenatchee, if I could!

I do not recommend this tour for anyone who cannot tolerate climbing steep rocky stairs or extreme heat. It would be better to take the tour through the gardens in cooler weather. Also, I do not recommend this tour for small children since the paths are narrow, the stairs are rocky and steep and the pools are not child proof. Children tend to run everywhere and I think it would be difficult for adults to keep them safe on the narrow paths.

Came for a family wedding and it offered a beautiful setting with room for the ceremony and reception. Great views of the Columbia River and valley below. The green landscape provides a calming, cooler feeling among the dry hills that surround it. There is a pond, and uneven areas so parents should stay close to young children. Many photo op areas. Plenty of shaded parking available. It would have been $7 for adults but was free for wedding guests.

We visited here for Mother’s Day. It’s a beautiful area with many kinds of ground flowers, ponds, and small water falls. The paths are paved with flat stones so walking can be tricky along with many steps. Strollers will Not work so children must walk. They do provide hiking sticks if you need one.
There is an area where food and drink can be purchased. The prices are responsible. The admission is $8.00 for adults and children are free.
It will take you approximately 1 to 2 hrs to complete the trails. It all depends on how much time you want to spend at each point.
Ohme Gardens is definitely worth the visit. Choose a beautiful day. There is plenty of shade if the day is hot.
Enjoy

Beautiful garden of never-ending ground covers, trees, waterfalls, pools, stone benches, stone pathways, and views of the Columbia/Wenatchee River Confluence area. High on a bluff.

By Francena C |

I was in the area last July and am delighted to see that they are still beautiful and attracting a large following.
Great stop on the way to or from Leavenworth!

By johntY1641FE |

The Ohme Gardens is a one of a kind place. The view is spectacular and the gardens are just gorgeous and well designed. This place is a must for anyone visiting Wenatchee and like gardening.

By luv2travelbas |

My sister and brother-in-law who live in Washington have been wanting to visit Ohme Gardens for some time and as part of your visit to Leavenworth and Chelan for wine tasting we stopped to visit the Ohme Gardens and were not disappointed. We would love to go back in the spring time when more flowers are in bloom.

However, the beauty of these gardens and the landscaping are so unique to other gardens we have visited. The waterfalls, stone steps, bench areas for sitting from slate rock and landscape were just so amazing. They had plenty of walking sticks to use and I used one. I have a knee replacement and they are helpful when maneuvering the stone steps but there was nothing I couldn't manage.

This was a family visit with no children. We spent about 2 hours at the gardens enjoying the views and taking many photos.

Ohme Gardens is a great place for a hike, picnic, family/portrait picture taking or just relaxing. The surroundings are beautiful and enchanting!

By I. H |

600+ feet above Wenatchee is a beautiful oasis. Trees, ponds, flowers and plenty of trails to enjoy not only the gardens but wonderful views of the surrounding area. You can get a workout just walking the many trails.
The area is now mailntained by Chelan County and they do a wonderful job. If you are in the area, only a 30 minute ride from Leavenworth, do not miss it.

By Keenan W |

We stopped here and were kinda disappointed. Was not very impressed. Ok little walk on old rock path. Ponds were ok to look at, but was crowded and not very eventful.

By Ruthie S |

A beautiful and unexpected lush garden in the midst of sagebrush country! Gorgeous views of the Columbia & Wenatchee Rivers, but the time and care that has gone into creating this beautiful place is inspiring. The family had a beautiful vision that they brought to life for all of us to share. I agree with Highroads - good shoes are a must! And I would go in the morning before it gets too hot.

By KevinMcDowell |

A little pricey to see gardens, but the views are great and the gardens are nice

By Joe Jackson |

A beautiful secrete spot, a bit of HWY noise; but the grounds are stunning. Late Spring is the best time to view the garden and be prepared for a good walk.

By 503trishas |

This place is absolutley stunning. I have been here for a wedding and a celebration of life both very important events and very fitting for any event.

By dainty81 |

While on our road trip, we stopped in Wenatchee. I looked up things to do/places to see there and came across the Ohme Gardens. So we decided to visit. This place is beautiful as are the views! We enjoyed seeing all of it and also reading the history of it. The paths are a bit steep and are all stone/rock , so use caution if you have any knee/leg problems, or if you have younger children. They do offer walking sticks for free!

By debraannmary |

A beautiful place for a stroll though you may have the notion to stop along the way to draw, meditate or just sit and take in the awe. Lovely visit despite the hot and humid temperatures. Upon arrival we were greeted by a staff who was helpful, friendly and informative in a very caring way — not only of what to expect during our visit pointing out facts along the way though also offered the same concern for our personal well being due to the heat. Walking sticks are offered free of charge. Hats off to Mr. Herman Ohme for his vision; his hard work and for all who continue to work hard at keeping the gardens as beautiful and charming as they are. Definitely worth the time.

By Anita T |

Beautiful, peaceful gardens, with seasonal plantings. Get there early for the best experience and fewer people. Take a stroll, and bring a picnic lunch. A great way to relax and spend a few hours off the interstate between Chelan and Seattle.

By mcadams123 |

Who would guess such beautiful gardens are hidden on a rocky bluff in Wenatchee. This is so worth going to. I am so glad we drove there & walked around.

By bwanderer |

It was hot down below, but up in the hills where the Ohme (pronounced OH-ME) (not a flower) Gardens are, a welcome wind kept things cool the day we went. Follow the signs, drive up the hill, and welcome to cooler. Be sure to bring your camera, hat, (most likely) sunglasses, and comfortable walking shoes. If you don't have a walking stick, they have plenty of loaners to choose from!

The parking lot is well shaded, and there are picnic tables in-between. Just to the left of the entry are instructions to a game that can occupy you and/or the youngster(s) that involves finding gnomes and such that are hidden throughout the gardens. We didn't notice this until we exited, but saw some kids rushing from spot to spot and wondered what that was about, speculating that it was for a school project. At the entry, you can get a laminated map with information about the gardens on the back. I highly recommended borrowing this, as the trails are only loosely marked. Just past the entry, on the right, are a collection of walking sticks. Even if you think you're in great shape, I recommend getting a pair per person, as there are elevation gains and drops involving uneven rock steps throughout. Take your time and enjoy the sights to the extent your health and physical capabilities allow you to!

We followed roughly a clockwise pattern, starting from the left of the entry and ascended to a lookout tower and various other lookouts before descending to some modest but beautiful pools, marveling at the fish therein, then ascending back up towards the entry gate by way of the lawn and the log structure. It was an enjoyable, peaceful, relaxing visit.

By nursedude |

It's not very big, but it does have some beautiful gardens and views in which you can get lost in and enjoy nature at its' finest. If you like visiting gardens, do go and enjoy.

By Kerrie S |

It is a wonderful place...got married there 30 years ago. You have optional trails to walk. Take a lunch and spend some time....take our camera...great pictures ...they also have a summer concert series that is wonderful and many other events thru the year.

By AKMWJC |

This is a fun day trip for locals and/or visitors. Pretty way to walk around and burn some calories.

By JIm B |

If you are visiting Wenatchee going to Ohme Gardens is a must. The trees, plantings, flowers, gardens , pools and walks are wonderfull. The views overlooking Wenatchee are superb.

By johng88888 |

Very nice place to unwind. Take your time to enjoy. Bring your camera and tripod. Less than a mile walk with a few steps. Cost was $8 per person.

By Janna S |

We went here with a teen, me the mom, and my parents (senior citizens). It was impressive the rocks and green carved into the previously dry, barren hillside. The rocky paths were impressive and peaceful pools. My teen was disappointed that it wasn’t what she was expecting which was flower gardens. This was more like plants or bushes and lots of rock paths, benches, etc. There were a few types of blooms. So maybe go with the expectation that there are few flowers. And maybe there are more when it is not the end of summer!!

By Tracy |

This was a breathtaking hike and completely enchanting garden! Very challenging at times. Not for small children. Make sure you bring snacks and water. Incredible history! Take the time to scan the QR codes and learn a the family that built it and how! I can’t figure out who in their right mind would leave a bad review. Miserable people will be miserable. Don’t let it stop you from experiencing this one!

By KarenBoe |

This was a nice walk through rocky trails. The views weren't much but the it was a very pleasant and fun time.

By Bing0 |

I wanted to give a 3 but my 6yo wanted to give a 2. Really pretty much a meh!
The trails are rock steps, so not wheelchair accessible. Maybe because we were coming back from the beautiful city of Chelan, but this place did not inspire us at all. Would not recommend to a friend

By Jim W |

On a hill overlooking the Columbia River is the intriguing, serene Ohme Gardens. There are a little over a mile worth of paths that traverse the hilly garden. They recommend good walking shoes, because some of the trails are on the steep side, but it depends on your age. We are in our seventies, took advantage of the free walking poles they have to use and we’re glad for the extra stability, ut kids and younger folks were scampering around us with apparent ease. The gardens themselves were lovely with lots of benches among the water falls and ponds that hug the side of the hill. Wonderful place for families to look for the hidden gnomes and fairies scavenger hunt. We had a delightful couple of hours. Recommend going early in the day and pack a picnic.

By ibcori1 |

Try the gardens off season. A beautiful view and the cool day makes for an invigorating walk along the paths. Try all four seasons for a variety of views...and crowds are less off season.

By Gary W |

It is a wonderful place too go. It is impressive and all the work they did in building it is incredible. Fantastic view of Wenatchee and the surrounding area. I would recommend it too all but I definetly like too let you know that if you have walking disabilities it can be difficult. They do give you walking poles that help for for those unsure on there feet it can be difficult due too some of the unevenness of some of the stone pathway. But you can get around with the walking poles, just take your time and you will do ok. Due take a lunch as they have a wonderful picnic area beside the parking lot.

This place is so beautiful, on a hilltop and with so many different garden areas. One day I will get married here.

By Mary D |

This is a beautiful oasis in the desert! A must visit in Wenatchee! Beautiful flowers, ponds and views of the valley!

By dunadan |

Combine a beautiful park with stunning views of the Columbia River and city of Wenatchee with a amazing garden, and overlay it onto a mountaintop quarry any dwarf would be proud of, and you have a sense of what Ohme Gardens is about.

You can easily spend a couple of hours wandering the paths up and down the mountain side, exploring hidden hooks, secluded spots, and cool water features. Bring a picnic lunch up here on a sunny summer afternoon and you'll have a memory to last a lifetime.

By aldorais |

I was married to my best friend here on Sept 8 2001.
A must see garden if your ever in Washington State.

By sheandken |

Ohme Gardens is such an escape from daily life. If you love the gifts Mother Nature has to offer then escape the rat race and immerse yourself in the beauty of trees, flowers, ponds and spectacular views. We are very fortunate to have this little "heaven on earth" attraction so take some time to stroll along the many trails and "smell the flowers" and soak up the views! ENJOY!

By Polariswidow |

This was a nice break during a road trip. We had no idea there were so many stairs. We made a quick trip out of seeing the garden as there was a wedding about to start. Ponds area beautiful & everything is well kept.

By TheProfsWife |

This was such a great little oasis to explore on a sweltering day. We enjoyed the gardens, and wildlife immensely. The stone pathways were a lot of fun, it felt like a real outdoor adventure to "hike" around and discover little lawns and ponds throughout the park. The young gal at the front gate was friendly and helpful. The laminated map was a must. I don't think we would have been able to navigate the park without it. We especially enjoyed the history of the gardens.

By LINDA H |

I'm used to seeing Gardens filled with flowers in every size, shape and color. Where this garden lacks in flowers it over the top exceeds appreciation for the massive flagstone paths that wind amongst thick fir trees to bring you to glorious water features and amazing view spots where you can check out the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers. Breathtaking.

By CCM196 |

Based on the brochures and website we expected beautiful gardens. We visited in early August and nothing was blooming. Lots of paths crisscrossing the property, but it all looked the same. I'm wondering if it might be nice other times of the year. But do not visit in August. Major disappointment.

By deCyphar |

My wife and I were married here last May. It couldn't have been a more perfect venue. The guests are admitted free when part of a wedding party.

Part of what makes Ohme so special is how "organic" it feels: the paths, flowers, and pools are well integrated into the natural landscape. They also diverge in enough different directions that it's easy to escape any other groups of people if you are looking for some quietude. There are many small sitting areas along the paths, primarily around the pools. None of the paths are too challenging... you won't feel like you are hiking by any means.

By Topazcat8 |

This lovely little park just above Wenatchee is a jewel. Narrow trails meander through a varied alpine setting, with nooks and cranniers, pools, and wildflowers nestling among the evergreens, and expansive views over the Columbia River. It was designed, planted, and nurtured by private owners, but is now publicly owned,

By EPT_57 |

This is a very neat garden in that the meandering paths take you up, down and around the garden, sometimes with a glimpse of the Wenatchee River, and other times into obscured little pockets of trees, ponds and waterfalls. There are plenty of stone benches to rest your weary feet, and at times, it does get very tired. The trails can be challenging to older folks and very young children. For hikers, it gives one the pleasure of navigating uneven grounds, sometimes steep narrow walkways, and lots of steps. There are "easier" paths (not so easy), and "challenging steep paths" and as the name implies, steep and challenging! Near the garden entrance are walking poles provided for guests, and I would suggest you take at least one. They are there for a reason. When we visited the Garden in May, we did not take the walking sticks, and in retrospect, we could have used the extra support when traversing the sometimes uneven and narrow pathways. We enjoyed the visit very much, and would return for a visit in the future. There are not too many flowers at the time of our visit, but the young ferns and evergreens are very soothing to look at. We went early in the morning, around 9:30 on a Saturday, and had the garden almost to ourselves, therefore we were able to enjoy the grounds in relative peace and quiet. Sitting on the stone benches around the ponds were very "zen" like indeed, and with nobody around, one can really appreciate the serenity of the garden. We spent four hours in total in the garden, wandering around, enjoying the sounds and sights, had lunch and did some more exploration.

By Leen829 |

This is a must see if you are in the Wenatchee area. Gardens are amazing. Ponds, small waterfalls and great views. Take the time to visit. You will enjoy the serenity of this wonder place.

By Jules M |

This amazing garden will surprise you on every twist of it's wandering trails. You'll find hidden pools, greenery that doesn't stop and you'll quickly work up a sweat if you take the longer, more challenging trails. Bring a bottle of water!

By Passenger587537 |

I live in Western Washington and am use to lots of different varieties of vegetation, I did not see that here in this garden. This garden is full of Vinca Minor utilized as ground cover, nothing unusual about that!! I have it in my garden. The views of the Columbia Valley are beautiful,!! However, be real careful walking on the stone pathways. They are uneven and have potential to be a dangerous trip hazard. My husband and I visited in October, me thinks spring could be a better opportunity to see their gardens.

By Erika |

Maybe it's more of a 3.5. I guess I was expecting more flowers and like gravel pathways. I took our very capable 2.5 year old, and the stone slab paths were difficult for us to negotiate. I ended up holding his tether AND hand most of the time, and when I let go of his hand, he was tripping all over the place. Many of the paths are downright dangerous for tots and even adults who aren't super stable. Kids under 5 are free and it really did tire him out, though!

The lady at the front was super nice, and I think it was a cool experience overall. It might be more fun with my husband, though I'd probably feel bad about paying $14 for us to hike around for an hour or two!

Several people we saw had trekking poles, and I'd definitely suggest that, especially for those with any joint or even mild stability issues. The older folks with canes we saw were having quite a bit of difficulty, so this is probably not a great place to take anyone who's not a very good walker or average hiker.

I'm pretty good with maps, but didn't find the laminated one the lady gave me to carry along with me helpful - there aren't enough non-Ohme-Gardens landmarks on it to orient yourself well, and it's tough to figure out where to go and how to avoid the super tough trails.

We came, we saw, we hiked, we left. There are some nice views, pretty features and it's good exercise, but that pretty much sums it up.

By Karen R |

Everything is uphill, there is almost nothing that is on level ground.

Yes, it's very pretty and the views are amazing, but don't plan to see much without a lot of stiff walking.

By Beki H |

If I was visiting here without children I would have totally enjoyed myself. The gardens are emaculate and peaceful. However with my little darlings being two and four years old it is pretty much a parental nightmare for me. There are severely steep ledges without railings where the paths are narrow and uneven. I wouldn't call this a safe place for little ones. I still rate it 5 since the age of my children has nothing to do with the quality of the place.

By cokerbud |

Great place for an afternoon walk thru beautiful gardens. It wasn’t crowded and the view of the river is great.

By Annie C |

We love Ohme Gardens. in August it's a green plant filled escape from Wenatchee's desert landscape. Don't expect lots of colorful flowers; you will find delicate purple heather and a green lush landscape that is unique. Some of the paths are steep so you will want to wear good footwear. Keep younger children close to you as there are some steep cliffs and ponds. I'm always amazed at the amount of rock that makes up the paths and the views of the Wenatchee Valley. Our kids had a great time searching for the gnomes and fairies, yet a few of them were extremely difficult to find which frustrated them.

By Patnjack |

Everyone visiting or living in the Wenatchee area should visit Ohme Gardens at least once. It's a great place to take the kids, they'll love the meandering trails and pools with waterfalls. Be sure to wear good shoes as some of the trails or tough to navigate in flip flops. It's a great place to have your family photo taken and a favorite for weddings also.

By Tall66 |

Just an amazing place to hike, stroll or just sit and be surrounded by the solitude. The history of this place is so unique and to think this was created by a husband and wife is mind boggling. Perched on a semi barren mountainside overlooking the Columbia River, the valley views are a bonus, but not the best part. Just so much to experience.

By Chad C |

paid $16 for 2 of us. spent 10 minutes inside. feel so ripped off right now. poorly taken care of, small. waterfall is a backyard fountain.. what a joke,

By vicky d |

Took my auntie there and we had so much fun hiking. Gorgeous area.
Can't wait to go there again. etcetcetcetcetcetcetcetc, is that enough?

By doctordeco |

This natural landscaped garden is groomed to perfection. It is a beautiful, peaceful place to wander.

By Jennifer M |

My grandparents have visited before, and said it was a little spendy, but has hours of trails you can explore and is just beautiful

By B V |

We enjoyed walking up & down the rock pathways in the 40 acre gardens. Shady spots were favoured as the temperature nudged 90+ f., that's 30 something in our degrees! Liked the little waterfalls into cool pools & wishing well. Expected more flowers. Good views of Wenatchee & the confluence of the Columbia & Wenatchee Rivers. The work to build this in a virtual desert environment (9" precipitation annually) is awesome. priced @ usd14 for an hour walk is a tad rich when one considers the state parks e.g., but it's not 'average', so we rate it at VG.

By Warom |

Ohme Gardens overlooks the Wenatchee Valley and has been the sight of many weddings/special occasions because of it's grounds and view. A must visit when in the Wenatchee area.

By Kathryn M |

Very tidy and cute. Lots of rock work, turned to walls, benches and even a table. Overlooking the Wenatchee river.

By ezboss |

A beautiful oasis high above the city of Wenatchee. A fantastic must see.
A garden set 650 feet above the city, built by hand. Gardens, trees, ponds
are all here and you wonder how they are growing when everything around an below is
all open land. Do go see, you will enjoy.

By Kathgip |

Wenatchee is in the desert and everything was very brown. But Ohme Gardens is a lush, green heaven in the Desert. We walked all the trails and it took 2 hours. It was really magical. A lovely cool spot on a hot day.

By Samuel C |

we are in the minority that did not find this garden of be attractive, it is also difficult to negotiate, tons of steps going everywhere, there were no colour for lack of flowers.
maybe there were lots of effort put into it, but the end result is not so good..

By rogersober |

Walked all about the grounds where there is evidence of my trees cut down recently. Flowers bloomed everywhere and the water features were dramatic. The builder was a had working vision making artist.

By Diane N |

Quiet, peaceful location.
Nice place to have picnic style lunch.
Place to be calm and reflect. Cool temperature.
Awesome location for wedding.
Lot of steep stairs to climb. Wear comfortable flat shoes!

By Jason L |

Very pretty gardens built into the hillside.

Please note though, they are not for everyone -- the steps up and down are not uniform, can be narrow, and I would not recommend them for anyone with a cane/trouble climbing steps/etc.

By DC98101 |

We spent a little over an hour touring the gardens as a stop on a weekend trip to Leavenworth. I'm so glad we made this stop!

I hadn't heard of the Ohme Gardens before, but the Ohmes created them beginning in 1929. They really crafted a beautiful oasis on the side of a hill in Wenatchee. There are various different water features. The Sylvan Pool was my favorite. This was a peaceful, shaded area with a rock pool where one could sit and while away the hours.

It is absolutely amazing that so much of the gardens were built by hand with limited modern machinery. It was clearly a labor of love and great that it's open to the public to tour.

By Jean B |

This is a lovely garden started by a family many years ago. It is now maintained by Chelan County. There are many paths and stepping stones that go up and down through beautiful gardens and pools, with several overlooks that look across the gardens or down to Wenatchee and the Columbia River Valley. A very relaxing way to spend a few hours.

By VanCityGirl35 |

BEAUTIFUL! Such a surprise in garden landscape. The property offers beautiful views, waterfalls, lush landscapes and numerous walking trails. It is of no surprise that it is an acclaimed attraction. If you are in the Leavenworth or Wanatchee WA area, this is definitely worth the visit.

By youthministerman |

This was a nice, quiet spot. It is a little pricey for a walking path at $8 a person. It is quiet and serene. It is sad that the view has been obstructed by the highway and industry in the area.

By garjog |

Garden lovers don't want to miss this place. The view at the top of the hill overlooking the river is wonderful. This garden is a unique cultural gem and should not be missed by anyone who loves plants and flowers. Peaceful and stunning views.

By jchristineb |

This is a unique privately owned park created by an orchard owner who wanted a little more green in the desert. It is in full view as you enter the area up on a high cliff face. It is the only spot of green other than the orchards and vineyards of the area. I don't know how they managed to pump the water up there. It is an oasis garden of many greens (not many flowers), ponds, small waterfalls, and great views of the Wenatchee valley and river. It does not take long to walk through its many paths but be prepared for some steep climbs on sometimes uneven stepping stones. I was glad that I still had my hiking shoes on when we went. Some people wearing sandles were not prepared. That night they had a music concert on the small flat area at the apex. Seats were sold out but we wish we could have stayed for the event. The garden was an unexpected treat that we found by following our noses (eyes, actually). If you are in town, it is a lovely diversion.

By Sue M |

We didn’t know what to expect with this one. What a huge surprise. It is absolutely gorgeous! We hiked around the whole property. One couples vision turned this property into a master piece. One of my favorite stops on our cross country trip!!

By valerie b |

An absolutely beautiful garden. A must visit if you are in the Wenatchee area. Take plenty of pictures. There are several amazing pond and waterfalls. Its so peaceful and relaxing there.

By wascocat |

What a testament to two people's vision of turning nothing into something. The scenery and grounds are incredible but you can't quite comprehend the labor of love that went into it's creation. The story behind it is inspiring! Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy

By NorthwestGirl2006 |

Ohme (Oh-me) Gardens is a pretty amazing place. Don't come expecting lush floral displays or cascading waterfalls but do expect a unique landscape of stones, pathways, and fields with sweeping views of the valley below. The gardens reminded me of a labyrinth with pathways leading all over the garden.

I agree that the garden isn't as breathtaking first off as some other gardens may be but considering the history and the work involved with the vision and creation of the gardens they are truly amazing.

A husband and wife created the garden on their private land decades ago to emulate alpine meadows. They had stones hauled up and performed back breaking labor to make the gardens. Before they came along the hill was just any other dry hill with not much vegetation. Definitely look into the history of the garden as it will enrich your appreciation of your visit.

The gardens are extremely well manicured and peaceful. There is a wishing well and several tranquil pools dotting the gardens. There are several stone benches fashioned into the side of the hill.

Ohme Gardens is an ideal destination for a photographer. There was a wedding ceremony going on when were were there and it looked like a beautiful setting for a wedding. Great photo opportunities, too!

I'd recommend Ohme for sure. The steps are not ideal for little kids who might have a hard time walking on the rocks and also not for older people or anyone who isn't completely agile.

By Dave B |

A peaceful place to take a quite walk with your loved ones or just by yourself. The park is well maintained and beautiful. Easy access and well maintained trails. A must see if you are in the wenatchee area!

We recently visited Butchart gardens in Victoria - Those gardens are filled with flowers and Victorian design. Ohme gardens are a tribute to the vision of a couple who devoted their lives to building magical trails out of stone. Adorable little structures - think Snow White & 7 dwarves. Reflecting pools with stone benches. Meandering trails. Majestic vistas. Native plants. We noticed as we were leaving that there was a game to look for some gnome and fairy statues - wish we'd known that coming in. There are very steep stone trails - not suitable for those with mobility issues. Wear closed-toe shoes - hard to traverse in flip flops! A lovely and interesting park.

Went there for a friend's wedding. The day before we were there for a preview (the rehearsal part) and enjoyed the gardens during the day, however, in the evening, at the wedding you could see the sunset and the lights of the town. This is when the high level park truly shines. Nice views and sights.
The walking trails are easy to navigate through during the day and not recommended at night as the trails are narrow and uneven.
Lots of greenery but not a lot of colourful flowers.

If you have a mobility problem, age disability, skip this place. It is very beautiful and serene but the "trails" are rough and steep, both up and down. There are many benches for resting and to enjoy the views. They do provide walking sticks, use them as none of the "stairs" have any rails, and if you use a wheel chair or walker not much you can see. I don't think they emphasize enough how rough it is.

By Kearsen |

These gardens are lovely. The trails meander up and down but are easy to follow. Kids loved doing the gnome search and make sure to take loads of photos from the many gorgeous vantage points.

By Tom I |

When you go to the garden, give yourself at least a couple of hours. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Be ready to walk up and down stairs. Bring either your love or a good friend. The trees, flowers and ground cover is beautiful. The paths and stairs are placed stones. The ponds and waterfalls are peaceful. There are plenty of fun stone benches to set, rest, think and dream.
Take your time and enjoy.

The Ohme Gardens were an unexpected surprise. Up a winding road from a busy Wenatchee intersection, the gardens were cool, quiet, and beautiful, a stark contrast to the rather arid landscape below (the gardens are at the top of a hill). The staff at the site were chatty and informative and there was literature available describing how the Ohme family had created this small preserve from virtually nothing. There are various trails throughout the gardens, with impressive vistas, small secluded ponds, and plenty of benches to contemplate the unhurried pace of the place. We understand that the gardens are a favorite spot for local weddings and receptions. There are nice secluded open areas where one can set up tables and chairs. A nice interlude in an otherwise not terribly interesting Washington agricultural center.

I love the history of this beautiful garden. The garden was born out of a couples love and is still a place of peace and joy. Great paths to walk and get lost for the day.

By Trazitis |

It's almost hard to fathom how beautiful the grounds are kept and how amazing the gardens always make you feel.

By Janet A |

Not sure "garden" describes this attraction. First, be aware that the path thru the garden is slate/stone slabs and there are lots of steps. (They offer you a walking stick to use when you enter.) Second, in late September, there were few/no flowers blooming. Not sure if summer is different. Everything is green. Lots of workers around maintaining the property. It was a peaceful walk, but I was constantly having to watch where my feet were going to go.

By DeeDee P |

I had been here when much younger (45 years ago) and it was still wonderful scenery and more places to walk than I recalled. Next time I will take a walking stick as some of the paths were more of an incline than my arthritic knees were prepared for.

By WA147 |

This is a beautifully done garden literally perched up on a mountaintop. It was a hot day in Wenatchee, but we walked through cool forest paths and sat by mountain ponds. There are great views of the valley, and we had fun exploring all of the woodland paths. It was lovely & very peaceful.

If this sounds like something you would enjoy, go for it. If you are looking for an amusement park, this is not it.

**If anyone in your party has mobility issues or is an unsteady walker, this probably isn't a good idea. Most of the paths & stairs are made from uneven stone, which totally enhances the "enchanted path in the forest made by elves" feel, but are not exactly easy to navigate.

By rlhaas |

This garden truly lives up to their brochure's claim that this is a photographer's paradise! We spend several hours exploring an taking photos. Lots of plants in bloom and great views of the Wenatchee Valley.

By 334lelandm |

A lovely place to visit when in Wenatchee, WA. We attended a wedding there last weekend. Beautiful view of Wenatchee and the valley.

By Richard K |

Amazing place. The most unique garden we have ever been to. The stone paths were amazing and the various pools were unique.

By Tracy |

Went with a friend and we had a great time trying to find as many benches as we could. What beautiful place.

By Zawojska |

Loved the relaxing, natural layout and beautiful views. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful ground covers and unpretentious landscaping. Not for strollers or wheelchairs.

By dhuting |

We had no idea what we were going to be treated to. It was a wonderful oasis of green gardens in a very dry land. If you look up the hillside from Wenatchee, you'll wee this one green area on the hillside and that's the gardens. We walked around for about an hour. The woman at the gate was friendly and engaging, so she started out walk off with good cheer. If you can imagine back to the day when there were few irrigated spots in Wenatchee, you can imagine the bountiful escape that the Ohme Gardens gave and still gives.

By PS802 |

Worth the visit! Very calm, serene place with enough trails, ups and downs to keep my 2 boys 3-7 entertained. The views are beautiful and a must-visit when in Wenatchee.

By Kathleen W |

Recommend visiting the Gardens to escape the hot afternoon.
We liked the Alpine settings, the waterfalls, pools and shade trees as well as the view of the Valley.

By Ronald S |

During the summer of 2013 we took our son and daughter-in-law to Ohme Gardens. We also had our young granddaughter along. I have known of the garden for many years, but had never visited before. My son lives in Wenatchee and we were visiting him and his family. What a wonderful visit we had. The garden is a wonder in the midst of a dry and desolate environment. The founders had a vision that is amazing. It was like being in a western Washington forest. We enjoyed the water features and the trails meandering throughout the gardens. I even bought a few plant starts on the way out. I highly recommend this for experienced and novice gardeners alike.

By Carebear5 |

This is one of our favorite places to take guests in town. Views are beautiful. It's cool on hot days. My boys (ages 6, 8) love going here. They feel like explorers holding the map. Not good for strollers, people with bad knees, or people who cannot walk on unstable ground - but there is a beautiful sitting area where my mom doesn't mind waiting with a book while others walk around. You can do it in an hour or spend 3 hours there. No food inside.

By KommissarKen |

This primarily green garden hangs on a hillside overlooking Wenatchee. Its trails are, at times, steep and always rocky. Good shoes are helpful. It's a peaceful place featuring ponds, trees, shrubs and boulders. When we visited (May) what flowers there were were close to the ground, almost like wildflowers.

By Bill A |

Our daughter was married in a beautiful evening ceremony at Ohme Gardens. It is a forest and garden reserve high above the Columbia River and the city of Wenatchee. Bring a meal to share with family and friends during the day or schedule a special event at this spectacular oasis.

By dmh2662 |

We decided to take a detour to this attraction after seeing the reviews on trip advisor. So worth it. The county took over the land and put in restrooms and admission booth. The walk is almost one mile with varying inclines. There are several benches to rest on. If you are afraid of bees, beware. There is one type of shrub they really love which is everywhere. Just keep moving and you will be fine. Driving away on route 2 you see the oasis the family created and really understand what an undertaking it was. We spent about one hour there.

By Magda Childers |

Beautiful gardens, Breath taking, beautiful views, it is a peaceful place you will love it as I do.
You must go

By pasherry |

Located on a mountain top overlooking the Columbia River and Wenatchee. Admission is $8 adults, $4 ages 6-17. Donated by the Ohme family, this garden was made with love and hard work. Staff will give you a map and you can explore on your own. Be aware that the paths are rocky and some are steep, but they offer complimentary walking poles. Beautiful views of the Cascade Mts and Columbia river valley as well as hidden pools, stone benches, water falls to delight you. Not too strenuous if you take your time, and most of the path is shaded. We spent approximately 1.5 hrs here.

By travelingrm |

We have been to gardens all over the world...This is like nothing we have seen before. Built by one family on the top of a dry mountain on the Cascade Loop, this garden is unique. Local stones were used to create terraces, steps, waterfalls and pond areas. Small local pine trees were carefully planted and watered and are now big. Looking out from this mountain top are more Cascades. ....from every view point, there are more mountains in the distance. Local rocks were used to create beautiful terraces, steps and even seating. Unique secluded areas with falling water and crystal clear ponds with comfortable stone seating are placed throughout the landscape. The alpine plants, planted long ago, have grown into soft green displays. Heather, carnations and black eyed Susan's were in bloom today. This garden is a wonder of human accomplishment. If one thing could be improved, it would be the laminated map. It does not show elevation.

By X9389VHjamesf |

The ohme gardens were a beautiful, peaceful retreat to spend a few hours and the history of the gardens was very delightful.

By Pamila W |

Everytime I go to Ohme Gardens, I swear it is bigger than it really is. You can walk around all day and see new things. It is just simply beautiful; if you like outside gardening and scenic views, you'll enjoy Ohme.

By minjim |

If you love flowers and gardens and do not mind taking a hike this is such a beautiful place to see. The paths are steep so take care and where tennis shoes or hiking boots. A beautiful view.

By Debbie K |

I was born and raised in the Wenatchee Valley and have always loved Ohme Garden. It is a wonderful place to explore. However, we booked this venue for our daughter's wedding (which took place two days ago, Sept. 24) and I was extremely unhappy with the customer service. We signed the contract with the person who was in charge of renting the venue and asked many questions regarding what we could expect and what we were allowed to do while there. Some things apparently changed from the time we signed the contract and when the wedding took place. We were not informed and it caused problems. The staff who were present to work our event were rude and unhelpful. I heard this feedback from a number of people who were involved in the wedding set up. It is a shame that they do not have better customer/management communications because the actual location is magnificent. The issues we encountered made an already emotional and stressful event even more difficult. I would definitely not recommend them for any type of event.

By Ken C |

What a great place to visit. Beautiful cared for gardens, landscaping, waterfalls and trails throughout the gardens. We understand that many weddings occur at Ohme Gardens and private parties. Also has live entertainment at times during the summer.
Definitely a must stop if visiting the Wenatchee area.

By Small Town Traveller |

The grounds of Ohme are a must see in Wenatchee. Give yourself at least an hour to hike around the property. Along the trails there are plenty of benches, usually made from large pieces of stone, to relax and enjoy the view or surroundings. If you are there in summer, check out their summer music series.

By pmjc |

We were on a long-day drive, and decided to pull off and refresh at this spot in Wenatchee. So glad we did. We scampered over the rocks, and around the pools, and up to the lookout, and down through the ferns, and just immersed ourselves in the character of the place. What a work of love and a gift to all of us down through the years. Hard to imagine how the Ohme's were able to create this place, but so glad that they did. Makes me think I should work a little harder in my own back yard.

By LehuaMonsoon |

For $7 you can buy some quiet time and solitude among the spacious gardens that can take you up til one hour to complete exploring or longer (kids 6-17 years old $3.50). Like previous reviewers have mentioned, make sure you are in good shape to negotiate the uneven rocky stairs which is so prevalent on the grounds and adds to its charm. Lots of bees/bugs flying around so if you are allergic, carry Epi-Pen or avoid. Nice clean bathroom. Our child loved the "stump water" which is an tree-shaped spigot that dispenses drinking water near the entrance. Recommend stopping here when in Wenatchee or passing through. Their website is modern and up-to-date listing hours open.

By robert m |

lots to see, great view, spent 2 hours there, relaxed

By Lin B |

If you are passing through Wenatchee you need to visit Ohme Gardens. The flowers, trees and other plants are only part of the visit, The view of the Wenatchee area along with the town is breath taking.

By Tiffany H |

It was a hot day when we visited but the shade of tall evergreen trees helped a lot. Beautiful pools and plants. Lots of vistas of the Wenatchee valley. Staff was very friendly. There are restrooms on the property. This is not a good choice for those who are physically challenged as the paths are sometimes a little steep and footing unpredictable.

By sanget |

A very pleasant surprise to find this fantastic construction project in the middle of a desert atmosphere. The project was completed by Mr. Ohme using rudimentary tools and over a period of several decades. The green areas, the pools, the benches are all impressive feats by a family devoted to bringing beauty to a desolate area. Truly an amazing feat and a very worthwhile stop by anyone in the area.

By Troy D |

Was here on a business get together and the scenery was outstanding. If you have small children and want a great photo opportunity come hear and bring you camera!

By bkkeeper2016 |

A must see when in Wenatchee. It was like an oasis. We had a wonderful time. Be sure and wear sensible shoes.

By harold b |

This "family-designed" garden is on a rocky outcrop above the Columbia river. Very nice layout, albeit with some climbing required.

Small entry fee. Rather hard to find!

Native plants, old trees, beautiful stone-edged ponds. A labor of love for several generations of a local family. Great views of the Columbia valley.

By Highroads |

The Ohme Gardens are an alpine rock, pine tree and flower garden situated on a bluff overlooking the valley. There is a wonderful view of the town, the Cascade Mountains and the river. The history of the place is interesting. Wear good shoes. The terrain is steep in places and the rock paths require sure footing.

By jandjrats |

Ohme Gardens is a remarkable creation. Beautiful, serene and a lovely place for a peaceful walk. Weddings and concerts are often held there and the area lends itself greatly to these events, or a casual stroll.

By Catrina R |

Go on a sunny day and bring your hiking shoes. Winding paths and serene pools make for a peaceful stroll. Plenty of shady spots to sit and enjoy the wonderful landscaping and stunning views. The only con is they will not allow you to bring in food, so no romantic picnic.

By Leona W |

wonderful mini adventure, loved it, I would highly recommend Ohme Gardens, wonderful place to take pictures especial wedding photos.

By ShannaNanna84 |

This place has amazing views and is very beautiful landscaping. You will need good shoes as there are many steps and rough areas. On a cool summer night this is a great place for a reception, and I would love to see it in the fall. My only complaint was the food - not sure if they bring in a catering company or do it themselves, but I wasn't impressed.

By Hal R |

Beautiful views, lakes, falls and ponds BUT we had to leave pretty quick. Trails are rocky and steep. I am recovering from a broken leg. Definatly not a place for me today but 10 years ago yes. Great for kids. They will have a ball. They even offer free use of ski poles to for navigating the trails. Use them.

By TrvlJunkE |

It may be just me but I wasn't all that impressed. I had heard about Ohme gardens for numerous years. I had been there as a child but didn't remember it being more than a park on a hill.

I had visitors in town and they mentioned seeing advertising for Ohme Gardens at their hotel and thought we should check it out.

So we went, walked around, so some grass and flowers, a few ponds and a wishing well. There were a couple of spots where you had a pretty nice lookout but overall I wasn't overly impressed. Maybe back in the day when it was owned and run by the Ohme family it was impressive to see this huge park that was built and cared for by one family. Now that it is run by the state as a park and there are inmates planting the flowers it's just not as impressive.

Nice place to go to contemplate the meaning of life and look over God's beautiful creation but the price of entry being $7 per person I thought that was a little high and since we live in the Pacific Northwest we can see absolutely gorgeous views and vistas and beautiful natural parks within a short drive in any direction.

It's something you gotta do just so you can say you've done it. Just don't plan on it being won of Washington State's top attractions like the website says.

By Deena B |

I really enjoyed our visit here. Luckily there was hardly anyone there when we visited which I think helped us enjoy it more. It was beautiful. I do wish I had worn sturdier shoes as there are some steep climbs in there. You can use the easier paths but with a twelve year old of course that was half the fun. Not a place I would want to take an elderly person unless they are in great shape. The view left a lot to be desired, but who cares-the actual garden was lovely. Would definitely go again.

By Dawn M |

The gardens are beautifully positioned on a vertical expanse of hill overlooking Wenatchee and the Columbia River.

They are comprised of trees, water features, stone pathways and, in season, wildflowers.

It's all very restful and well done. They loan you a map so you don't get lost on the short, multiple trails.

One very strong caution: all the walkways are very uneven rock. The stairs up and down are steep, uneven rock with no handrails. I have a balance issue and going down the steps was a nightmare. I considered leaving but didn't want to be a quiter. My husband had to help me on stairs.

It is well worth the visit if you have no limitations. It's unique and unexpected in little Wenatchee.

By bksgrrrl |

Amazingly beautiful park like gardens perched on a hill outside Wenatchee. Lovely blending of wild and cultivated plantings, outstanding views. The gardens were the life work of Herman and Ruth Ohme, now open to all.

By Wesley |

Worth a visit. The stone work is amazing. The views are nice. The garden is well manicured and beautiful. You can walk the whole thing in about 35 minutes…There are stone benches where you can bring snacks and drinks and enjoy the garden.

By JayPaulTraveler |

Literally an oasis along highway 2 in Wenatchee. Neat trails through the trees leading to great views of the Columbia River Valley below. A worthy place to support.

By Larrytwa2014 |

This journey took us from Spokane to the Ohme Gardens. As a child of 10 or so my Grandma love to explore an visit these beautiful gardens. My mother was also and explorer and twisting her arm to go on an adventure was as hard as asking a child to get candy in a candy store. As a child I remember, but climbing, scurrying around, finding a tree to climb or rocks to hide behind or better the water to teasingly get my other sibling wet, was much more important. Not sure I have matured much, but climbing trees, scurrying, hiding and water fun, seems to be enjoyed by the youngsters that visit now. The garden is a wonderful place to plan a picnic, providing the weather is with you. August is normally hot and the garden is a perfect place to throw a blanket, and literally meditate upon the beauty. Perhaps meditation is capturing all the beauty behind a lens. Or wondering what tales linger behind the eye's of those who lived longer than me. Perhaps it the laughter is watching those kids and you know one of them will find the water and then the bet is who is going in.

Perched above the Columbia, over the apple valleys this is a sight to see and appreciate.

The few dollars for the up keep cannot reward the human sensation and experience. If you have parents that like gardens they will like this place.

Downfall, if they have limited walking they may not be able to enjoy all the garden. However the lawns are well manicured, the paths are delightfully and well balanced into the park.

I recommend this adventure to all.

By Boisenb |

The grounds are great and to think it was the vision of one couple who put so much work & time into it. The ponds are amazing. Great place to spend some time.

By Cchisana |

Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee, WA is a great place to get in your walk on a hot day. Built in the early 1900s, this large wandering garden is mature, well maintained and whimsical. Includes wandering paths which traverse the hilly terrain. Regional flora, huge trees, ponds with decorative fish and of course flowers. Your can chose to follow the "adult" tour or the kids tour which guides children thru the garden looking for elves and fairies. Also recommended for grown-ups who are playful!

By Kathy P |

Beautiful landscaping and water features. Around every turn in the trail system is a wonderful view. Good to go somewhere and stretch the legs for a small hike. Stone pathways with shade and places to take great photos. Top of the hill to a stunning oasis! Fantastic wedding venue. People are very friendly.

By Woodsdweller1 |

I have seen beautiful photos of Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee since moving to Washington and finally had an opportunity to go. Unfortunately I was disappointed for several reasons. I have mobility challenges but don't use assistive devices. I found it very difficult to move around much of the garden. There are some paths that were impossible due to many steep stone steps. Stonework is a feature of the garden. The rest of the stone pathways and lawns were difficult to walk on. The person who sold us our tickets gave us a map showing the difficulty levels of the paths. When I saw the map I was concerned about being able to walk through these paths but didn't want to ask for a refund since we had driven out of our way to see the gardens. I was able to get to less than half of the garden. People in wheelchairs or using assistive devices would see even less. The gardens are on a hill and were originally designed to feature the views. Over the years the views have been dramatically diminished by the commercial growth in the surrounding areas, so I was disappointed by that. I had expected to see flowering trees and shrubs. There didn't seem to be many. The gardeners were in the process of planting annual flowers. What had been planted was pretty but nothing extra special. So...I was disappointed. As you drive into the parking area, there are picnic tables in the shade. My favorite part of my time at the garden was the peaceful picnic lunch my husband and I had there. It was relaxing after my difficult time in the garden.

By Jacquelyn H |

This garden was a work of love by a local couple in the 1930's, who took a piece of high desert on a hilltop and made a a place of beauty and pece. It has many shady nooks on a hot day, and overlooks the city of Wenatchee and the confluence of the Wenatchee River with the Columbia. There are two wedding lawns that give your wedding attendees a wonderful view of the Cascades. There are a few picnic tables and a rustic shelter. Last time I was there, there was no concession stand, so bring your own picnic if you come as a small group. Local caterers can handle larger events. Get a season pass and go several times, spring to fall, for changing floral displays.Stairs are stone and a little uneven, so a walking stick is a god idea for the older visitor.

By JamesB17 |

This is a little OASIS in the hot sun. Up on a hill, great view and peace and quiet. Beautiful place.

By orionsangel2 |

I have been visiting Ohme Gardens since I was 16 years old. I love the gardens to visit/relax and have a nice quiet escape that's close to home.

By ExoticPrincess |

These gardens are amazing! If you were to see the before and after pictures, you cannot fathom that it is the same place. These people had a vision and a determination to make their dreams come true! It just shows what can be done with imagination and hard work. I highly recommend seeing these gardens! You won't regret the $7 admission fee, at all!

By bodori |

Six of us adults went to the Gardens, two had not been there before. Everyone enjoyed our time there. We were there somewhat between seasons, so it was not crowded. It can be very hot later in the season as several parts are exposed. You have to be able to negotiate steep, uneven pathways, so not appropriate for those with gait disabilities or possibly very small children. But it is always beautiful. The story behind it is fascinating.

By Sally V |

Tranquil, beautiful place to wander, sit and read, chat with friends. My husband and I bought a yearly pass just to visit and sit on the benches in a restful spot and read, to get away from the strees of hurried life.

By Chiwaukum |

The Ohme Garden really shouldn't exist given that it is basically in a near-desert, but it does and it is, in its own way, amazing. That someone had the vision to build this terraced sanctuary with its very pleasant small spaces and vistas is astonishing.

You don't visit the Ohme for its plantings—they are pretty common Northwest natives and hearty cultivars. You visit because of the setting.

By Diane B |

Ohme Gardens is a different garden than any I have visited. It is located on top of a high cliff in the middle of the hot dry Wenatchee landscape. It's many pools and waterfalls are a refreshing change from the heat of the valley below. Stone steps wind up and down the sides of the bluff, making exploration of the lush plantings, water features and amazing views a delight. Navigation can only be made by those who are sure of foot.

By Sean E |

Really beautiful and manicured gardens with an outstanding view of the valley. They have concerts here sometimes too, those are really fun and definitely worth looking into!

By supersnookers |

This place is a hidden gem! Absolutely a must see destination! We have driven by the sign for years and never knew what it was. You are transported to a magical garden full of beauty and peace. The work that it took to build this place is unbelievable. We will be going back for sure year after year.

By Jill D |

The staff was very helpful answering the million questions I had regarding the rehearsal and the ceremony and the pictures and the weather and anything else I could come up with. I was married on 8-8-15 and it couldn't have been more perfect. The set up of chairs was exactly like I had requested. (I needed an extra wide isle because I had my dad and step dad walk me down the isle). The gardens were open all day for us to take pictures; although we only went 2 hours early and stayed 1 1/2 hours after the ceremony. The thick, tall trees provided a large amount of shade on the Sunken Wedding Lawn (they shaded 3/4 of the lawn in that area for a 1pm wedding). There was plenty of shade during one of the hottest days of the year. There was also wheelchair access for my grandma, so she was able to attend. My brother played our song, "All of Me" by John Legend and the acoustics were so great, he didn't need an amp or a microphone. Many of my guests enjoyed coming early to walk around the gardens before the ceremony. The gardens provided the perfect backdrop for my wedding pictures! Thank you so much!

This is a must see garden when you are in Wenatchee. Beautiful flowers, greenery, trees and waterfalls. It is a peaceful place to sit, take a rest and enjoy the gardens. The story of how it came about is amazing!

By Patrick B |

Just a wonderful treasure in the Wenatchee area. Worth spending some time here. Great story behind it. And just a lovely place!

By thirty1flvr |

This garden is a great way to spend an hour or two. Would make a nice spot for a picnic. My kids ages 4 and 5 enjoyed picking which path to go down and looking at the fish in the ponds. They really liked throwing a penny in the small wishing well and making a wish. NothIng amazing here but really nice all the same. Plenty of shade on a hot day. Recommended if you've got the time.

By Colleen B |

It might not look like much from below but once you are there walking around the trails you will feel you've been transported to an alpine meadow. It is a lovely gorgeous place. It is well worth a stop if you have time.

By malcnmaggie2015 |

This is a beautiful and quiet place to visit. You travel from a very busy road up to a quiet oasis. With twisting paths taking you to small pools and quiet corners, where you don't realise that you are in a busy town. The history of the gardens is very interesting to read about.

By Brook F |

If you haven't been to Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee, Washington then you need to add it to your list. It is truly an oasis on the slope of a rocky hill once covered with sage brush. The history of this place is remarkable and it is maintained to perfection. My wife and I have shot many weddings here and always love the venue with it's hidden gems. Find out for yourself.....

By KRSimmo |

A gorgeous place of history and splendor. Bring your comfy shoes because you will be stepping on stone stairs with some steep trails, to get to all the nooks and crannies in this beautiful place with wonderful views and wildflowers. Great place to come to read, have a picnic, take family pictures, celebrations. I myself was married up there 16 yrs ago!

By MBC |

A true oasis. As you walk through various gardens and by emerald pools, you get an occasional peek of the city below which makes this lavish paradise even more of a paradise experience. A must do.

By BlewettBlonde |

An oasis of alpine beauty sitting high above the Wenatchee dessert! This is a great spot to spend an afternoon catching up with friends as you meander the paths between lush green madows, beautiful ponds and shaded lookouts.

By 222conceptusa |

This is one of the prettiest setting I have been to in Washington so many beautiful things to experience. Just watch out for wh wedding area. I walked into some nuptuals accidentally!

By GrandmaGoldwing |

this is really a great big rock garden with lots of nice pools, benches and trails with stepping stones.
it's very pretty, but I didn't think that they had a great variety of plants. the plants were sort of ho-hum and not very exciting. there is lots of up and down walking and it was wet, so one needed to be very careful. It was only $7.00' so well worth that amount.

By EdPlateau |

Fun family adventure walking through the maze of beautifully manicured natural grounds exploring and finding waterfalls and pools, taking in the views and just enjoying time stretching your legs outside in a pretty area. The trails were all stone slab pieces which everyone really liked. Staff there are super nice and pleasant too!

By Richard B |

Interesting background of these gardens made it all the more significant. Went first thing in the morning and it was so peaceful with wonderful spring flowers spread among the beautiful trees and water features. Good reason it is the #1 attraction in town.

By Rehsinup19 |

Ohme gardens is a beautiful garden with several waterfalls, ponds and trails to enjoy. There are amazing plants and manicured gardens to view as you walk along the paths. This is worth visiting. We spent half a day and could have stayed longer.

By Molly S |

Our visit to Ohme Gardens was perfect as a peaceful and restorative interlude during our cross-country drive to visit family members out west.

By Gary S |

Ohme Gardens is one of the most beautiful unique gardens you can visit in NCW.
Take time out of your day to go see by yourself ,a loved one ,or friends & acquaintances.

By RAMX13 |

Ohme Gardens is very nice. As far as botanical gardens are concerned, it is average. What is really impressive is the landscaping that the original owners did 80 years ago. The story is wonderful and the gardens are a great way to burn off some energy from sitting too long in the car. Not a place for people with mobility challenges however. Walks and paths are uneven and could be difficult.

By TBearden |

I'm no spring chicken and my knees don't work as well as they once did. So my advice for senior citizens is to accept the offer of a free walking stick and take your time negotiating the stairs. And boy howdy, they do have some stairs. In fact nearly every place you walk is up and down with stairs. Your reward for these exertions is a very nicely designed garden with some great--and some pretty awful views. The confluence of the Columbia and the Wenatchee rivers peeking through the trees is great. But the view of the warehouses and trucking operation at the bottom of the hill are almost shocking in contrast.

This is a small garden but holds some gems.

Not all trails are accessible but it’s worth walking them all. Lots of stone benches, water features and even a stone picnic table.

Just off the road to Leavenworth

By busconi |

Just as you are exiting Wenatchee on your way to Chelan, you can take a look to your left and spot this hillside all covered with green conifers....it seems out of place and captures your eye. If you drive up, you will find Ohme Gardens. The Ohme family spent over 40 years creating this "alpine garden"...complete with ponds, trails, heather, conifers, etc. I think it was the early 90's when the State Park Dept. purchased the land. Today it is a wonderful spot to come and enjoy the serenity much like the Ohme family used to do. A great place for weddings, for a picnic, or just for a walk in the woods. They even have entertainment and yoga classes. A real special oasis.

Ohme Gardens is a secluded gem that it took me a year to discover, and one that I wish I’d check out more often. It’s an excellent place to go to to relax and just be in nature, and the view is almost unparalleled.

By bendcoles |

It was hot and most of the flowers were dead. Would not go again in the summer. Perhaps spring is when to go to see the flowers?

By Neil T |

amazing and so very beautiful worth the effort to climb the stairs if you go there you will see breath taking views of Wenatchee

By debraL1232RC |

This was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. Some lovely landscaping and views. If you have issues with uneven steps without handrails, it might be too hard to do the full tour.

By JPaulTraveler |

This is a pretty amazing little spot of dense greenery and Mountain Goat like trails for people that take you around the gardens.

I recommend stopping here as you travel through the area if you have time or want a break from the drive.

It does not cost much to get in and you can walk part or all of the trails, whatever you like.

If you live in the area, it is definitely worth supporting Ohme Gardens with the purchase of a year long membership that lets you in as much as you want.

Keep a hand on little ones as you wander the steeper trails. Great views from the lookout points.

By AD2DAD |

Ohme gardens is a beautiful park/hiking trail/garden to enjoy on a warm or cool day. It consists of beautiful flowers, ponds with fish, trees, and gazebos to rest when needed. You can also get a nice view of Wenatchee from there. The area is not for handicap since you have to go up and down the steps to get around the garden. Remember to take water and the picnic area is in the parking area since food isn't permitted inside the park. Great place to enjoy the day for a low admission fee.

By Buzz L |

There's a huge network of flagstone trails criss-crossing the gardens with many little pools and waterfalls. Very scenic views overlooking the city. Well worth a visit.

By DAVID U |

The garden is of the alpine variety built on a hill top. Lots of ponds and lovely stone work. Great views of the rivers (albeit they also include many warehouses along the river). Very nicely maintained.

By jason745 |

You have to see this place to believe it. It's amazing that this was done by a family over many years.

By Steve H |

We have to been the Ohme gardens several times in the past. Check out their website to see the history- way cool. An alpine garden in hot, arid Wenatchee. www.ohmegardens.com

If you are older or have mobility problems they have ski poles to help and there is a disabled parking lot that gives you some access.
Words can not decribe the experience. It's only $7 per person

By Richard L |

This is a great place of solitude and beauty. I just wish they could drop in for a week and transform my house to this paradise. A great place to get married I am sure.

By tastiger |

Ohme Gardens is such a surprise! The Wenatchee area without irrigation is dry and desert-like, a land of cheat grass and sagebrush. But magic can be made when you add water. Ohme Gardens is such a place. Transformed by a man with a vision and high on a hill overlooking the beautiful Columbia River, it wanders, climbs and descends the natural topography, beautifully planted with evergreens, flowers, rocks, pools and secret places. It isn't for the sedentary but it is such fun for those who want to explore and see beauty. Kids like it too (but don't bring a stroller!)!

By SnohomishVet |

This is by far a hidden Gem of Wenachee. It open at 9AM, and is peaceful. The views over the valley are spectacular.

By Donna J |

The place is so beautiful, it's hard to capture the experience in photos! Each trail has a little different scenery, and so exciting to see what's around the next bend in the trail. We're from MN, and have never seen anything this beautiful!! We're 60 yrs old, and were able to handle all the trails, but too it slow & cautious using the ski poles. We plan on returning this yr again, but waiting for it to cool down some.

By Jerry9146 |

On top of a bluff Herman Ohme and his wife started a very nicely landscaped garden. His son expanded it in later years. Many plants, pools and a few waterfalls make for a relaxing stroll. All the paths are covered in hand-placed flagstones. There are steps and there are choices for easy or difficult terrain. It is well worth the visit.

By Ellen F |

My family and I spent several hours walking around the grounds of this beautiful, restful garden. It truly offers breathtaking vistas and gorgeous blooming foliage. The gardens are kept in impeccable order, the staff is friendly and gracious. It was an incredible experience! It was nice to be still and just listen to nature and breathe in the glorious scents of the flowers.

By doodlebugakj |

My in-laws have been going to this place for years and we continue to go whenever we are in the area.. Such a beautiful place where you least expect to find it! We took several generations on this visit and there was something for everyone. The beautiful flowers, bushes, rocks and water features throughout this garden are just amazing. You can sit by a cool pool in the shade or on top of a hill that overlooks Wenatchee. There are so many benches that you can stop and have a seat on with great views in every direction!

By ChitchatCanada |

Very quiet and peaceful oasis where we were able to wander thru at leisure. The extensive rock structures and pathways around these gardens are clearly a labor of love and were very well planned and constructed. The water features definitely add to the feeling of a relaxing oasis. There are wonderful views of the Wenatchee river and valley below.

By Nana211 |

Wish I was younger and in better shape. This is a beautiful place but all the paths are mostly straight up and down. They should make a path maybe that is more meandering.

By ryan h |

goregous gardens, fun to walk through and see all the beautiful walk ways, gardens, ponds and waterfalls

By Chetravel7759 |

A very wonderfully different garden. One of the highlights of our trip! Built on a mountain with little rock trails going very way possible. Kind of strenuous, and would probably be slippery if wet. There are ski poles to use for walking sticks and it really helped. A few little pools were nicely landscaped. A lot of overlooks for the city below.

By steveFromHealsburg |

One man and a crappy piece of land... transforms it into a lovely garden. Really motivational if you enjoy landscaping. Sneak a good bottle of wine inside and just sit in one of those nice places he created and enjoy the moment.

By Sachin S |

I was expecting too much based on the reviews on tripadvisor. I have visited a lot of parks in Seattle and Portland however this one did not impress me at all. For one, this park charges a $7 fee for entry per adult, and I think there are much better waterfront parks in Wenatchee that are completely free. The park was very crowded when we visited. They give you a map when you visit, which has extremely cheesy names for attractions that could easily be missed. I was very underimpressed and to be honest the views of the "valley" was basically a view of the highway and Wenatchee valley. If you are someone like me, from the Washington/Oregon area and travelling to Wenatchee, this spot can easily be skipped.
It might be great for kids, however it wasn't much of a thrill for me. The park is pretty small and you can probably go through all major trail paths in one hour. There are some pretty steep paths so if you have elder people you might want to take easier paths.

By dennymas |

This was on our families bucket list for the summer. The night before we were to arrive I read the reviews about the sometimes steep trails and making sure to wear good shoes. I'm so glad I read that or I would have been wearing flimsy flip flops. It was really a beautiful place but because it was almost 100, we didn't spend as long as we would have liked. The trails are marked on a map as easy and hard and although the easy ones weren't too bad, it was a little difficult in the heat. We would have liked to try the harder ones but ran out of water quickly. I found the waterfalls to be more of trickles but still pretty. All the pond water was green and murky but I guess that can't be helped. There is only one bathroom, right at the entrance. I'm really glad we came since we've been wanting to for many years but just wish the weather had been better to enjoy it.

By sasortiz |

I love this park!! Ive gone every year for the past 11 yrs since moving here and every time I am as impressed as the 1st time....hard to believe this isn't a natural setting

By lexaroo |

This garden is amazing. The history is pretty cool. It's a great place to visit and relax after a stressful day.

By Spacecased |

My wife and I discovered Wenatchee years ago when we drove thru this area and decided to stop at Ohme Gardens. It sides astride a hilltop and gives great views as well as a large variety of ponds, plants, trees, flowers etc..... great place to visit, liten to music in the summer, or even special events!

By Denise K |

We visited on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised with how lovely the gardens are no matter what the season. Picture perfect pools for contemplation with benches throughout for rest and meditation. The Ohme Gardens are also a wonderful venue for weddings and we had the treat of seeing a bride at one of the pools posing for photos. A not to be missed place to visit when in the Wenatchee area.

By Sarah Davis H |

We had high expectations for this place, and that might have been to blame... We visited on a Sunday, and thought that the traffic levels would be lower. Instead, there were two Quinceañeras taking pictures at all of the beautiful spots crowding them up. The people were disrespectful, and didn't care that they were ruining the ambiance of the "zen" garden for everyone... If that wasn't enough the beautiful views are ruined by a LARGE warehouse/ junk yard/ industrial zone below the gardens... The gardens themselves are absolutely beautiful, and well maintained which I'm sure takes a lot of effort due to the climate. But to preserve the peaceful setting I wish they would limit the amount of people and Quinceaneras to smaller less intrusive groups...

This place has beautiful stone paths, tables, benches, fireplaces, pools, waterfalls and the craftsmanship is phenomenal. But be aware that the trip hazard for this place is high due to all of the stone steps, walk-ways, etc.

By Mark B |

Ohme Gardens is a fascinating place--a luxuriant garden, replete with many artificial but natural looking water features--created out of a sere desert landscape. The history of how the garden came to be simply adds to the wonder of it all. There are plenty of arid landscapes to enjoy in the Wenatchee area, obviously--this piece of land is one family's monumental effort to create a lush alpine-style garden where they lived. Caution is advised, however. One must be steady on the feet as stone walkways and stairs can be uneven and steep, with handrails mostly absent. With this always in mind, walking along the paths--with peekaboo views of the majestic Columbia River and of Wenatchee far below as magnificent backdrops--is a delightful way to spend an hour or so.

By WolfgangRoberson |

A very nice place to visit and very relaxing. Very good value for the money to visit. I highly reccomend visiting.

By Global_Ir |

A beautiful huge garden on a mountain in the city. Not far away, budget friendly, the home and dairy hunt were amazing. I'd recommend to anyone visiting the area.

By Dee N |

Beautiful Gardens with hiking trails. Water gems with hidden ponds and waterfalls. Loved walking and experiencing the peace and joy of being in such a lovely spot

By sfarringt1 |

Hard to believe that this hill side has been sculpted into a garden.
Interestingly landscaped to make use of the slope of the land.
Oriental in nature , could use a little more color, around various areas.
Was worth the stop and walk

By Korenn M |

Nice little nature walk. Personally I'd rather go hike a short trail in the mountains but it's still nice.

By melancholick |

I've often found myself describing Ohme Gardens as being "a miniature golf course without any miniature golf," due to the eccentricity of its layouts and the "point-to-point" orientation of its hiking paths. That's not a knock on the attraction, but rather a loving appraisal of its slightly goofy charm, particularly when it comes to the variable nature of a visitor's experience (Depending mostly on their age).

For grown-ups, the place offers a charming respite from the late-Spring and summertime heat of Wenatchee, as well as an opportunity to enjoy some truly spectacular views of the town; for kids, it's basically a magical glen filled with rock outcroppings, hiding places, magical reflection pools and tricky little "goat paths" that mom and pop might balk at trying to scale... in as many words, a mildly wild wonderland that's sure to provide an hour or so of unalloyed distraction. Definitely a must-go, even if you're just passing through.

By Lisa W |

Beautiful, relaxing, calming, and in the summer, cooler! We've spent time in Ohme Gardens, just wandering around and we've attended various functions here (such as wine and food tasting events), which are always enjoyable. A great place to take family or visitors!

By Spacecased |

This is a wonderful set of gardens that highlights many of the natural area plants and trees that grow here. It also has other wonderful plants and gardens that are beautiful and well taken care of.

They also have a garden music series in the summers that is very intimate and in a beautiful setting!

By JillyBean9827 |

We visited this park in July of 2013 and found it be absolutely beautiful! Lots of little ponds, waterfalls, and gardens full of colorful flowers. The staff were very friendly and imformative. We truly enjoyed walking around the grounds, and on that note, you should wear comfortable shoes as some of the trails are a little steep. This was an unexptected 'hike' for us and I was wearing sandals. I managed okay but would have been more comfortable in tennis shoes or hiking boots. Some excellent views of the Columbia River and a few little surprises along the way make this a must-see when you visit Wenatchee!

By curtlance |

I had several health issues including morbid obesity, which prevented me from ever visiting here since moving to the area in 2011, but since losing 200 pounds and resolving a number of medical issues, I was finally able to take in this destination spot in Wenatchee.... This is not for the weak or infirm, and you will be walking more than a mile, and most of that is on rock steps, either up or down... Numerous pools, lawn areas, and lookouts provide the traveler a great overview of the Wenatchee Valley, as well as serene and calm areas which invite you to sit on the rock benches placed strategically on the grounds... It is also amazing to realize that the gardens were made by hand in the 30's and 40's, and all the water had to be hauled up before running water became available.... Well worth the price of admission, and a great place to take visitors to our area, as long as all are in good health and have good legs and knees...

By JuneOlympia |

Lovely walk & view of the valley area. Simply amazing what the family had accomplished basically as a labor of love - gorgeous!

By melindae91 |

Staying in Chelan, we decided to pop over and check out this garden. Lots of really beautiful hardscaping. I am sure it is stunning in the spring when the wild flowers are blooming. Some of the trails are more rugged. Wear good walking shoes. Not good for flip flops, toddlers or those with poor balance. This was once a bare hill of sage brush, now it is transformed into a NW oasis. Only water is allowed. Helps keep it clean.

By tvooge |

My family and I have just moved to wenatchee we wanted to find activities to intertwined our three children that were fun and outdoors. Ohme gardens was a lovely intro to our new city. My kids (age 9,7,agenda 18months) all enjoyed the walking pathes, water pools, and colorful flowers. There were many picture opportunities and the fee to get in is low. A nice place to go for a good time at a fair price!

By Geoff M |

Lush and green, the gardens are a monument to one mans' ability to "terraform" the landscape, turning desert into forest. A very nice place to visit or better yet- get married. As one flies over Wenatchee, one can clearly see the Gardens from above.

By Magar0409 |

I took my family on a weekend and it was a nice experience. I strongly suggest for anyone who chooses to visit to wear good walking shoes and wear shorts if the weather permits.

By Daydream09948290211 |

We were lucky the wildfire smoke had cleared and Ohme Gardens were open. Three generations went and I was thankful for loan of walking stick available. It was beautiful. Places to rest and enjoy the views. Clean bathrooms and helpful staff. So happy we went. Very relaxing. Go at your own pace and look for gnomes.

By Chris1A1B1C |

Nice views of the river valley and plenty of shade. It was an interesting contrast to Leavenworth as you are on the edge of desert-like areas here.

We didn't really see any flowers (late July) but there were various water features (ponds, water falls, etc...) and other displays to spruce up the garden.

Note that this is not for mobility-challenged people. The experience mainly comprises of walking up and down trails and many stairs created from flat stones. They have free walking sticks you can borrow. Little kids didn't seem to have any problem, but the elderly might.

By retiredjeweler |

Beautiful garden resulting from a love story. Be prepared to walk on uneven ground and be amazed at the beauty. This garden is on top of a rocky hill.

By Bob R |

Ohme Gardens, on the edge of Wenatchee WA, is a beautiful area to visit, to relax, to compose extraordinary natural photosl It is a common choice for those who prefer not to have a church wedding to gather and enjoy family and friends in a quiet open area. I have officiated weddings there and shared the joy of bride, groom and wedding party.

By susiqsaul |

We have loved visiting Ohme Gardens in the past & for the last two years we've gone to enjoy the Concerts in the Gardens series during the month of July. The gardens are beautiful, the concert setup is great and with the option to purchase beverages and food it's a wonderful evening out! We usually buy a season pass so we can return & hike the venue. They also do a Mother's Day brunch that is perfect--love this place!

By Jan A |

Beautiful views, easy to walk paths, lovely rock pools. An amazing cool oasis, the day we visited was extremely hot, but the trees made it shady and it was relaxing to wander through the greenery. It was only a short trip off the main road, and well worth taking the extra time to have a look.

By Barbara H |

Beautiful hidden gardens. Lots of trees, some ponds. Great place to take photos. It is small, so it is a quick trip.

By PDRtravelbug |

This is our second time visiting the gardens and we are still impressed at the work that went into creating a bit of paradise on top of a dry mountain. The pools and trails are well maintained and it was not very busy.

By MelindaLofgren |

Absolutely Stunning! What an incredible labor of love! My favorite was the Hidden Pool, I could’ve stayed there ALL day watching the Koi in the pond and relaxing! It is absolutely worth the $8 entrance fee. Go early in summer as it does get hot and there’s a fair amount of walking. Wear decent shoes as the trails are rustic stone steps. I had no issue with any of the terrain 10 months after total hip replacement, but they do offer walking sticks as some trails are steeper.

By Evan-canadian |

Was a great outing for the kids. The gnome hunt kept them completely invested in the hike. Gardens were well manicured. Not for those that have ability issues

By Margaret B |

Great place to relax, drink in the scenery and listen to the birds. Walk all around and sit at the pools. Wenatchee can get very hot in the summer so Ohme Gardens is a nice cool place in the desert.

By TheWeatherheads |

This is a total waste time. We were so disappointed. The views of the river would be spectacular if they didn’t overlook the packing warehouses! It is a totally landscaped area including artificial grass which was disappointing. I presumed the waterfalls were natural but they aren’t which makes them really disappointing as they don’t look particularly well maintained. There were no flowers to see other than limited pink geraniums.

By rebaelaine10 |

This place is absolutely breath taking, they do a wonderful job at keeping it up and have so many cool trails and look outs

By Sungron |

Ohme Gardens is unquestionably one of the few beautiful areas in this part of the state. It is a peaceful patch of green on a hill amidst the gray rocks and brown mountains. The history of the place is fascinating and explained by a docent. It provides a superb and peaceful walk around the grounds featuring forestry, pools and greenery. They provide walking sticks as the trails are often steep and very irregular. It has proved to be a great venue for weddings. For those who don't wish to, or can't, walk the trails there is seating in the trees by a large lawn to just rest and think. There is a small gift shop. Any visitor to the Wenatchee area owes himself a couple of hours at Ohme Gardens.

By Pat M |

We’ve been visiting Wenatchee for many years, this week we went to Ohme Gardens for the first time. Wow, had know idea what it was like. It’s a magical walk in the woods with rock paths, pools, and native plants. A definite must visit. Wear good shoes and explore all the paths!

By YakimaPoolGirl |

Of course, I've been back since my family pictures that were taken when I was around ten years old. The place was magical then and still is.

By brynnes |

We learned about Ohme Gardens in a roundabout kind of way, and being fans of gardening decided to visit. A charming spot considering the desert like surroundings of Wenatchee in July! What was most impressive was to know how much work and effort went into creating this garden on the side of the mountain. Would definitely recommend a visit to those that appreciate gardens.

By Jim B |

Gardens that are an oasis of green in the brown hills around Wenatchee, the effect that the original owners were trying to achieve. Very affordable self guided walking tour with wonderful views of the area and the tranquil garden atmosphere for relaxing and just slowing down.

By Michael W |

The Ohme Gardens is a great way to visit an evergreen forest and its own natural state and local environment the access is good in the trails are easy I would suggest you take your time in this part to see it all in spend some time sitting and contemplating

By Yessii M |

This is a beautiful place to walk around. They have tables to sit and relax. They have several different spots where to take pictures and a beautiful view of the valley!

By Motzkus |

I have lived in the area for over 38 years and had never visited. Won free tickets at a golf tournament, boy was I surprised! This place is worth the money to visit. Not expensive and they have several different walks for different levels. I took the hard level and I admit it was a workout but it had wonderful views.

By Freedom R |

This place was really neat. They were setting up for a wedding when we arrived so some of the areas were not available which made paying the entry fee a little harder for me but we did get our monies worth. It probably would have been more beautiful in spring with blooms, however seeing all the different varieties of seedum, little waterfalls and clear pools with Koi, was a good way to spend an afternoon. I would suggest it to couples and small families with older children as the paths are paver stones and there is a lot of steps up and down, narrow trails.

By tripstocker |

My wife and I are in our early 50's and we just enjoyed the cool walk, views, flowers, trees and special locations. This is something special to visit while in Wenatchee.

By Marsha H |

Ohme Garden is a unique treasure in the heart of Central Washington. Beautiful flowers, waterfalls and walking paths. Perfect place to create family memories.

By Jane48_47 |

The gardens are wonderful, and a real oasis. I visited in spring. I would not go in summer as it would be way too hot, I think. The vistas are lovely, if you can overlook the nasty-looking industrial development that obviously was never invisioned when the gardens were first designed.

By Paula N |

The gardens are amazing in such an unexpected place and the serenity is quite comforting and the landscaping is breathtaking!

By Gregg M |

Wonderful, lush landscape's, meadows and forest. It also has nice waterfalls and ponds - pools. Very beautiful. Good hike for all levels, you can take steep trails or moderate one's. A must see if you are in Wenatchee.

By MiaGrace |

We used this venue for wedding and it can accommodate a small to a large party with great pictures! For a thorough walk-about, you should wear good shoes and you can bring a picnic lunch and set-up before entering the park. No alcohol :(

By janicem104 |

The Garden is a stopping spot in the Cashmere locality. These gardens have a variety of flowers, levels, scenic rocks trees, and beautiful pools and waterfalls. Such a beautiful and restful spot. Even though it is small in size, it is big in beauty and tranquilly. It does have difficult walking areas, for those people who have problem with mobility.

By Stay305917 |

Adults enjoyed spectacular views of the valley and beautiful landscaping while kids were busy looking for gnomes and fairies hidden throughout the park.

By Jodacious3 |

The property covers 9 acres. Walking sticks are provided and recommended. Lots of walking over stone and steps.

Several waterfalls, ponds, vista views of the Columbia river and with plenty of stone benches to sit on if you want to take a break to rest or simply take in the serenity and views.

Cost is $8 and worth every penny. We were there for 90 minutes.

Easy to find with lots of road signs.

Ages 5 and up will especially enjoy it. Might be challenging taking Toddlers unless parent is willing to carry.

Had been wanting to come here for a long time and a date finally brought me here. Thoroughly enjoyed the place, particularly the ponds and hunt for fairies.

By FTTSV |

The Ohme Gardens was a beautiful place to take an afternoon walk. There are a lot of steps and some of the paths are more intense then others. Took my two small children and had to keep a close eye on them because of the uneven rocks / steps.

By Anh P |

The views were amazing. The trails were easy to walk. We were very impressed by the amount of work and effort put in by the farmer family to create those stone paths.

By FYRBUG |

Took the whole family here and brought our lunch. Really pretty place to visit. Not crowded and and got the kids out of the house and away from video games!

By simivalley1699 |

We visited the garden beginning of August; it was very windy and refreshing. The pools were the nicest part of the walk; the many tiny stone steps are a bit difficult to negotiate. We were given a laminated map to find our way around. It must be nice when flowers are blooming in the spring. We spent about an hour there. Found it a bit overpriced.

By Rose B |

This garden is a hidden beauty. Take time to stop by and walk through. It has been thoughtfully planned. Be sure to grab one of the walking sticks offered and enjoy the grounds.

During our family vacation to Lake Chelan, my husband just happened on Ohme Gardens as a nearby visit. It is about an hour away from Chelan, WA (depending where you're coming from) and 2.5 hours from Seattle. It is breathtakingly stunning where you'll see ponds, waterfalls, koi fish, several flowers/vegetation, pine trees and more. I absolutely LOVE those attractions where everywhere you turn offers a unique a beautiful view.

It costs $7 for adults and even cheaper for children making it budget-friendly and entirely worth it. I was shocked to see many "unimpressed views" which I found interesting. I'm from Chicago and live in Arizona, so definitely gives an impressive view that I'm used to seeing BUT I have been to several different gardens, botanical gardens, etc in different parts of the world and still felt this was impressive - it was built as the Ohme's backyard and was never meant to be a tourist attraction, so I'm not sure if the negative reviews were factoring that in. Also neat fact that the stone pathways were brought in and laid down by hand! We went in June 2022 and it was not crowded at all.

BE PREPARED: Good shoes for tricky footing/steps, umbrella and/or raincoat (Washington weather was tough to predict), I would grab the walking sticks they offer if you occasionally need them, and be sure you dress for a hike! Also, any items you'd like to relax with: good book, headphones, etc

TIME: I would budget 1-2 hours here with two main factors involved: mobility level of you and your group and how much you and your group stops to take photos or enjoy the view. There are SEVERAL spots to sit throughout the garden, had I known I honestly would have budgeted time to bring my book and just sit here for a little bit

MOBILITY LEVEL: This DEFINITELY has tricky footing. We knew nothing about Ohme Gardens when we got there, but it's built into the side of the hill so the pathways are steps (sometimes semi-steep with no railings), uphill/downhill and some paths can be pretty narrow. There are railings in certain areas, but not everywhere. If you cannot go that far there are some spots that can still be an easier walk that would still offer fantastic views, so I would ask at the front or have someone in your group run ahead and see what is negotiable.

BATHROOMS: There are fully functional bathrooms right behind the admissions/gift shop area. These are your only bathrooms throughout the entire gardens, so plan accordingly :-)

KID-FRIENDLY: We saw several families with kids here and it looked like the kids were interacting with the map to find their way around the gardens which was great! Just keep in mind there are some areas where it's an easy misstep into a pond or down the hill, but overall, it's safe to bring kids

GIFT SHOP: It's small but they have unique items! Definitely stop in here. They also had some bottled drinks for sale and a coffee dispenser inside.

NEARBY: We enjoyed going to Pybus Public Market for lunch (there are several options) walking around their cute shops (olive oil shop, gelato, sandwiches, pizza, Mexican food and more). Leavenworth is about 30 minutes away and their Reindeer Farm and seeing this cute Bavarian town is a MUST do!

At the end of day 1 of our Mystery trip, I took 49 seniors to the first concert in the Ohme Gardens Concert series presented by RLS Productions. Robert helped set us up with wonderful tables and contected me up with Alicia with Tastebuds catering. We were served a magnificent Chicken dinner prior to listening to the Wenatchee Swing Band while overlooking a grand view from atop and amid the beautiful Ohme Gardens! It was a perfect end to a great great day! I can't wait to bring others to the next event.

This is a rare find and if you are interested in gardens, this is something very different and worth seeing. The fact that it was all put together by a couple as a labour of love makes it very special. We were the only ones wandering around at 5.00 pm after a long drive and it was very soothing. Amazing views over the Columbia river.

By T8418GPkarend |

We have attended most of the summer concerts at Ohme gardens they are truly amazing! I love to put my feet on the grass, share some wine and treats. The stage set up off the edge of the cliff creates a wonderful vantage spot for viewing Wenatchee Valley and taking in close up views of the Bands

By MonaG |

We were looking at the park for wedding purposes for my son and fiancé and pretty sure they are doing it there. Great set up. Great views!

By Rosemary H |

We went in September so there were few flowering plants. We knew we were in the mountains but not aware of how steep the grade was. It might be helpful to post that information so that people not familiar with the area can plan better. We navigated the paths okay, glad the three older adults in our party of four chose a walking stick for the paths. The views were beautiful, the ones and falls beautiful as well. The attendants in the gift shop were very nice.

My wife is an avid gardener / landscaper so we included Ohme Gardens on our itinerary during an October visit to Washington. We were not disappointed. Lovely place to meander to enjoy the views and appreciate the realized vision of the developers. It was the very end of the season yet the gardens with their rock formations were still compelling. Would like to return to see them earlier in the spring or summer. The trails are well marked and not too difficult and there were friendly associates available. Terrific way to spend a few hours. This place will probably cost me some money in the long run as the Ohme Gardens inspired my wife to consider a number of new potential "projects" for our property!

What a darling little garden with lots of native plants! The garden is a beautiful oasis on top of a craggy mountain. The history of the place makes it even more darling! Many of the rocks were hauled there by the original creators of the garden. What a wonderful piece of history that has been preserved. I can’t believe I’ve lived in the area for 4 years and just now visited this garden.

I took my mother-in-law, my 10 year old son and 12 year old daughter to explore the gardens one rainy summer day and everyone loved it. (I was wearing sandals for some dumb reason and really didn't have any problems.) The gardens are views are amazing, very serene. They also have a cute little gift shop. It would be an amazing setting for a wedding I am sure.

I assumed that the title word, Garden, meant flowers. Ohme is a lovely tree-filled area with stone step trails winding through Glen's and ponds. It's a serene area with benches to sit and think. Some steep places but even with a weak leg I made it without problems. A nice place to get away for an hour.

Beautiful gardens, walking trails and views for ever of Wenatchee valley. I recommend an hour to two hours of relaxation on top of the mountain

I dragged some coworker here when it was over 100 degrees. I have been here a few times over the past 40 years. It has grown up quite a bit. A surprising oasis of green with nice views out over Wenatchee and the Columbia River

Visit it if you ever get the chance. You won't be disappointed. We got there first thing on a weekday morning and had the place (9 acres) almost to ourselves. WOW.

We went for Fathers Day and they had set up a little miniature golf course for children and parents of all ages.My six year year old granddaughter said she wanted to spend every Fathers day at Ohme Gardens for ever and ever.It is usually a quite place to just wander and enjoy the serene atmosphere but this day you could hear the joy and laughter of children and fathers and families of all ages. It is a difficult walk in places if you have mobilities issues but I just sat when needed and didn't take some of the paths.A beautiful and fun place to see.

I was on a business trip and stopped at the gardens before heading out of town. It was not the best choice for me. The weather was hot (High 80s) so climbing rockery was not all that fun. Also my allergies were in check about half way through the garden. So, I had to leave. I did notice families picnicking, relaxing in the shade by the pools and preparations being made for a wedding. If I was there for that I would have probably enjoyed it more.
We had tried to visit before but we had our dog which were not allowed...bummer.
Also paths are rocky and steep. This adventure would not be good for people with physical challenges. It would be nice it did.
For seven dollars I would have appreciated a guided tour or demonstrations.

My granddaughter had her wedding here just over a year ago. Beautiful ponds, greenery, majestic firs, and beautiful views. Adequate space for parking, guests, and equipment for venues.

The place is a veritable garden in the midst of a major orchard and farming area - shows what can be done with common materials and water, on the eastern side of the Cascade range. Quiet, reflective time - if you take the time. We visited in the midst of a warm Summer and the weather was quite pleasant strolling around due to the large trees and ample water of the landscaping.

Wonderful spot for a hot summer day. You are in and out of the sun, near babbling brooks and serene ponds full of fish. It's an up and down walk with great views of the Wenatchee Valley and Mission Ridge Ski Area. Persons with any physical imparements may have trouble navigating the narrow walks and up and down trails.

Let's start with: Being a woman, I do not like to be out on desolate trails. My companion does. We found these gardens and saw a nice trail to take. We asked some other people coming out if it was OK and nice and they recommended it. It was not a bad stroll and we did not make it all the way through, due to a phone call and it getting dark. If you like to walk an enjoy nature, it's nice.

I have visited Ohme Gardens many times over the years, and never tire of the view of the Wenatchee Valley, the surrounding mountains and the Columbia River. Each time that I go, the gardens are different depending on the time of year.

I was very impressed with the intricacies of this place. Everything was so thoughtfully done. Very peaceful. They were setting up for a wedding which was beautiful. There were beautiful views of the mountains...and the roofs of all the industrial buildings below. That was really the only turn off, that and all the sprinklers attatched to the tops of rocks. I understand things have to be watered but they could have tried a little harder to hide it.

Other then that, this was a very nice place to spend an afternoon and take great pictures!

Visited Ohme Gardens for the first time since moving here a month and ago, and I didn't realize how big it was. I love that there's so many different paths to take and so many beautiful little ponds and waterfalls. I love the little Stone benches where you can relax for a few minutes. It's definitely a great place to get some exercise and clear your head for a while.

It's a really great peaceful place to go relax. We were worried that the kids wouldn't enjoy it but they loved it!

Ohme Gardens is a real one of a kind. It is amazing that Chelan County can support this excellent facility. The community should be very proud that they have preserved the beauty started by the Ohme family so many years ago. Great gardens and magnificent views of the valley and mountains.

Picnic tables, amazing history of the family...just an amazing place to visit. Stopped by there to visit a close friend and met here. Such a nice place to stop and relax but also catch a bit of history of the area. Nice picnic area which would be a nice place for kids.
It isn't free if you want to wander through the gardens. I believe it's about 8 per adult...not sure about kids. You can get season passes for locals.

This is a nice place to visit, with lots of hidden treasures, but a lot of it is not accessible if you are in a wheelchair.

Pleasant spot to walk through some beautiful groomed gardens throughout a mountainous wooded forest. People marry here so loads of photo opps. $8 each is steep.

I was 90 degrees in Wenatchee by 1030 when we got there, and once we stepped through the gate and into the shaded areas it felt like 75! What an incredible difference it was, being surrounded by lush green grass and calm pools with little water falls. The trails just meandered through the gardens, but always seemed to take you to the next little oasis. Really cool stone benches, loveseats and couches are placed in ideal locations for you to walk a little, sit a little. Its location is high above the river, so there are some pretty nice views there as well. NOT for anybody with problems walking. Fantstic way to spend part of a hot summer day!

Not pet friendly. Get a clue America; over 44% of American households have dogs and they like to go on vacations too. Considering how out of the way this place is, I would think you’d accommodate anyone willing to stop and patron your establishment.

These gardens are beautifully maintained. There's probably about equal parts shade and sun. It's a nice place to go for a calm and peaceful afternoon. There was a wedding being held while we were there, but the way the gardens are set up we didn't feel like we were intruding on them and we still got to see everything.

To see the area around Wenatchee in it's stark beauty is one thing. To know that is what was here prior to a single family wanting to create an oasis for all time is something else. This is a wonderful garden to wander along the many trails and see the delightful quiet spots created years ago. This garden is not for the mobility challenged. They can see the upper parts and look out over the panoramic views of the valley, but you need to be nimble to explore the vast hillside. Loved our visit.

Great place to visit Ohme Gardens and enjoy the gardens and the views from the gardens to Wenatchee. The best part of Ohme Gardens this summer for me was yoga classes in the garden!!!!

Ohme Gardens is one of our favorite places to take visitors. It is beautiful, quiet, and refreshing.

A few tips: take water or money to buy something at the gate, wear walking shoes,

It is not a strenuous hike, but the trails are uneven and often terraced. It is not stroller friendly, so bring a pack for the baby. Only the top level is wheel chair friendly. That said it is a must see.

This attraction is a jewel to visit. It is many acres covered with beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers. The history of the Gardens is interesting. The paths are formed by large flat stones. You need to be really well balanced to enjoy them. They do have walking sticks to use if you require one. I used one and found the paths easy to walk. The views of the city from the park are beautiful.. I would recommend a stop here. There is an entry fee but it is reasonable.

There is no place like it.. definitely worth it for the views and unique planting’s and blooms which vary with the season.

Who knew that in a small WA town there would be this incredible, lush garden growing in the desert?! I had only one day here and wish I had the opportunity to come back. The story behind the building of the gardens is very inspirational. This is a must see for anyone who enjoys beauty - it was just incredible. We stayed in Wenatchee but it would be worth a drive from any location to see this.

This garden was mostly stone and ground covers. Lots of water feature and shade areas to contemplate or meditate. Lots of stone benches to sit and relax. The stone path is uneven and rigorous if you choose the stairs. Still uneven and narrow if you don’t . I would not bring toddlers they can’t explore and need to stay close. The older kids enjoyed the Garden Gnome hunt.
The cool shade was wonderful but if you any mobility issue or medical conditions I would pass.

The park is laced by stone paths which take you to many interesting viewpoints and rock formations. Paths can be quite steep so take a walking stick. If you don't have one there a number hanging outside the gift show you may borrow.
