Cool area of downtown Omaha with cobblestone streets. A lot of places to eat and drink. Horse drawn carriages available also. Check out The Passageway - really pretty alley.

We literally went there every day during our stay and tried restaurants ranging from luxury to bargain, tourist to upscale. Spend some time in the huge park called Gene Leahy Mall (not a retail mall) at the Riverfront, which is adjacent to Old Market. We loved upscale V. Mertz restaurant in The Passage for a special event dinner. We also had meals at Jam's--touristy but lots of choices on the menu; Tupelo Honey, Southern inspired food with some modern touches; Twisted Fork Grill and Bar, also touristy but with great outside seating to enjoy the view. It's a fun place to walk, a renovated old warehouse and manufacturing district, and you can read about or ask about the history of the various buildings. Lots of security on weekend nights but we never felt unsafe walking.

Nice to see the old buildings and imagine the wholesale activities that would have taken place a century ago. Pretty good variety of food but higher price than I felt justified.

Fun area especially if you are visiting from out of town. M's is a personal favorite but many great options and quirky shopping options.

Always Love driving through old Market Downtown Omaha also a great place to stretch your legs a variety of shops something for everyone on weekends sometimes hard to find a parking spot.

I will admit that some of my American friends from the east were making fun of me for staying in Omaha. Myself, I am so happy that I did not listen to them and that I stayed in town. The Old Market is as many here say a must see. Great shops, food, sweets, I even found a pinball museum. I felt like a big kid again.
Also been a foreigner and out of town, I was greeted so often and when they heard where I live, the locals made me feel very welcome.
Seriously, if you have the opportunity to visit Omaha, don't miss the Old Market. I was tempted to spend a fortune here. Luckily my credit card has a limit.
Enjoy

Spent a few hours looking around at the fun shops and had lunch. Lots of antique and unique shops. Great area of town!

Fun place to hang out> Many restaurants, bars and places to walk and browse. Nice patio areas to sit outside too

There are probably more places to eat than to shop or see as an attraction/thing to do in the Old Market.
I think Ted and Wallys ,if you are looking for ice cream, and Fairmont Mercantile, for antique/novelty shopping, are both a must if you have interest in either or both.

Went to Old Market several times during our weekend visit. Lots of restaurants and bars. Great for people watching! We sat outside on patio at several restaurants

We had a great time visiting the Old Market. There is something here for everyone. We stayed at the Embassy so we could be right across the street and just walk wherever we wanted to go. I am definitely looking forward to returning in the spring.
There are a wide variety of different craft shops and antique shops. If you are hungry, there is very little you will not find down here and probably just around the corner. Definitely a place you must check out if you are in the Omaha area.

Plenty of places to eat and enjoy an adult beverage, but not a ton in the way of shopping. Some places are not open on Monday or Tuesday and several places don’t open up till the afternoon, so check hours of operation before you go. I recommend Upstate Brewing Company for a meal and beer flight while you watch a game. It is open 7 days a week and offered some of the best food we had while in Omaha! You can walk here from some of the hotels in the area, such as the Embassy Suites. The Old Candy shop just across from the Embassy Suites offers chocolates, jelly bellies and delicious soft serve ice cream.

Dinning, shopping, entertainment with a neighborhood community feeling. I've enjoyed this area since I was child.

Loved the Old Market area on our recent trip to Omaha. Lots of restaurants and shops all close to on another. We were there on a Monday evening in late August with family. Enjoyed the atmosphere and quaint feeling. Highly recommend. I wish we had spent more time here.

Several city blocks of historic buildings that have been converted into restaurants, clubs, and stores. Street entertainment on weekend nights and a nice atmosphere enjoy dinner among the cobblestone streets and brick buildings.

Not much changes from visit to visit. Though I've lived in Omaha for 35 years I only visit a couple times a year as I'm not a drinker or late night party person. There are a couple of events like the arts festival that are fun. Also, the farmer's market is worth a walk around. Most shops are rather eclectic and pricey. Good area for visitors and that's what it seems geared toward. So, if you are in town for CWS or any other event it's a good way to spend some spare time. If you are a local well, you already know all about the Old Market.

Looking for a day filled with shopping, and dining all at one of a kind shops, stores, and restaurants in historic Omaha? If your answer is yes, then the Old Market in downtown Omaha is where you want to go! I spend time in this area every week and I'm always finding something new to enjoy! The carriage rides in the evening or nights are very romantic for couples and a for sure smile on your children's face!

This is a great place to walk around and find great new stuff and reminisce on old stuff as well. So many great shops in the Old Market to find adventure, laughs and maybe even the perfect gem!

There is great shops, restaurants, carriage rides great old buildings and beautiful flowers during the summer!💐

We liked this area a lot, it had a lot of good resturants to chose from, and shoping which we were not as interested in. The resturants were mostly in old revamped buildings with a lot offering outside seating, which we like.

so many great restaurants, the best farmers market on saturday morning, and has some fun shops to try as well. A must stop for those visiting the town

Omaha’s downtown Old Market is a vibrant and active downtown with tons of eateries and shops. The sidewalks however are tripping hazards.

The OM is some of the finest OMAHA has to offer. Food, bars, hotels. Try it out you’ll enjoy the dining and just strolling through the area.

If you like crazy noise and people this place is for!!! Others than seeing the college World Series games, this area is not for upper aged people!,,

Fun place to visit. Great shops and variety of eating places. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Family friendly places to eat and visit. Must hit the candy shops!

Many small and charming stores and galleries, wonderful restaurant and cafe selection. Easy to walk around. If in Omaha, need to visit this neighbourhood.

My husband and I were on a cross country trip and stayed in Omaha for a night. We were pleasantly surprised by the Old Market area where our hotel was. The buildings and the cobblestone streets created a great vibe. There were lots of fantastic restaurants, shops and art! We ate at the Twisted Fork, which was delicious. Hollywood Candy was a super fun, quirky store! There was a lot to do - we’d love to go back and spend more time there!

When in town do go and visit this area as it has been completely renovated and is a good mix of shops and food. Furthermore there is the farmer’s market in the morning if you’re interested. In short it’s worthwhile

This was a wonderful surprise! Lots of character, fun shops, and great restaurants. Very quirky and not to be missed.

The old market is a must see when visiting Omaha. A lot of history can e discovered just by browsing through the many different shops.

Quaint area. Cobblestone streets. Lots to do. Tough to find parking...but worth it. Very fun experience. My kids were amazed at the “old buildings” and the “brick road” it was a lot of walking and so worth it. I think it would be fun to visit around Christmas to see how they decorated. Seemed clean and a lot of eye candy. Some quirky shops. Lots of food choices. Horse drawn carriage rides. When back in town during a different season will head back.

Went here to revisit our old stomping grounds. It is even better than before. Love Spaghetti Works. Nearby is a great water recreation area with a wonderful outdoor skating rink.

Old Market is a trip back in time. Lots of brick on the buildings and on the streets. Other cities have comparable settings, but, perhaps not as popular as this one. I understand that Omahans fill the streets on Saturdays for months on end.

Excellent area in downtown Omaha. Lots of shops and very unique restaurants. Clean, safe well lighted area, plenty of parking.

Great place to go walk around and look at the shops, pop in the bars and have a drink, or even a cigar! With several hotels nearby, and lots of great eateries, you can't go wrong visiting here.

I had the opportunity to stay within walking distance of the Old Market on a business trip.
It was fun walking around the market. Many interesting gift shops and music stores to choose from. There is also a great variety of food and drink options.

Old market is a great place to visit. We saw horse drawn carriages. We went to this really cool vintage shop and old time candy shop. We had really great burgers at a place called Monster Grill.

Walking distance from any "Old Market" listed hotel. Just a few blocks of eclectic shops, bars and eateries. Too small to get lost in but enough choices to hit any pallet.

The beating heart of the social part of downtown Omaha this part is filled with bars, restaurants, tourist shops and nice boutiques.
We ate here every evening for a week, trying a different bar and/or restaurant every night.
Why go anywhere else?!

Fun place to walk around and shop. Lots of places to eat and drink. You won't be disappointed. Great candy store too.

The old market is a funky part of downtown Omaha which is undergoing a bit of a revival. This area was warehousing and escaped being totally leveled in a period where renovation and restoring saved an interesting area. Warehouses became restaurants and stores, an old gas station an ice cream parlor.
We eaten at several restaurants in visits over the years and it is a fun place.

Walked through on a Sunday afternoon. Mainly pubs, restaurants, and shops. Nightlife looks like it would be fun atmosphere.

The old market in Omaha is absolutely beautiful. They have much construction which makes it kind of difficult. The atmosphere and restaurants are top notch.

This is your average old market found in most large cities. What makes it good is it's close proximity to the riverfront.

Take a step back to a true early midwestern town atmosphere. Old brick buildings transformed into great shops, restaurants and novelty stores. Great night life too. On Saturday mornings, visit the local farmers market.

Trendy neighborhood replete with restaurants and shops quite reminiscent of a "big ten" college town or repurposed old urban wholesale market area. We were there early evening on a Saturday for an out of town wedding guest dinner at Stokes Grill and Bar walking over (10 minutes) from our hotel. The area was teeming with young people as you might expect. I guess you might consider this area to Omaha as Faneuil Hall is to Boston.

Always love the old market! Whether dining alfresco, just walking around or shopping the farmers market. Always enjoy the atmosphere!

While traveling to Denver, we stopped for a day/evening in Omaha and had the pleasure if spending the afternoon/evening inthe Old Maket Section of Omaha. Great Restaurants and shops. They are also building a Riverwalk. We had a very nice time,

There was so much to do all packed in a very walkable distance. I stayed at the Hyatt Place in the Market. There was a wonderful ice cream shop, Ted & Wally's, directly across the street. On the other corner were three Breweries and one also had a distillery. On the other corner was the Hollywood Candy Company. Please don't assume it was rinky dink, oh no it was Walmart super center size plus. I'm fairly sure you haven't seen anything like it. The Durham Museum totally blew my mind. I was there about four hours and still missed reading some of the exhibits. It is huge. Most fascinating is they have a signed letter from Charles Dickens. Walking on the Bob Kerry Bridge from Nebraska to Iowa was not only unique and interesting but fun also. That being said I would highly recommend you go see for yourself. However, I believe Nebraska should stop saying Nebraska isn't for everyone. It was definitely for this person.

We just go down to walk and shop had some custom jewlery made by 2 of the stores there, the Christmas shop is always a favorite. Plenty of places to eat. M's, Stokes, Julio's, and so many others.

Went during the day and visited several of the little clothing boutiques as well as having lunch at a nice little spot. Brick Street and just a charming little area.

shopping not so good unless you want to spend alot on nothing. Food places are nice places are hard to find. so if you go make a list and make your own map.

If you can't find what you're looking for in Old Market, it probably isn't in Omaha. We found candy shops, ice cream, restaurants, drinks, coffee, antiques and general shopping here for several days. Breweries, a wine tasting room, tequila and most everything else. I loved this place!

If you enjoy history and out of the usual eating places, this is definitely a place to visit. The horse and buggy can make for a romantic evening out. But if you want a standard burger or have dietary restraints I would suggest not visiting until after you have ate elsewhere.

Nice area! I visited on a frigid winter day, so there were not a lot of people out and about, but I nevertheless enjoyed my time in this area of the city and anticipate that on a nice spring, summer, or fall day the area would be even better.
Cool architecture--a lot of pretty warehouse-style buildings that are well-preserved. The area is easily explored in about half a day. It's a nice concentration of local businesses, restaurants, and hotels. I liked that there were not very many chains, and some of the stores had quirky character.
There were a lot of appealing dining options, ranging from craft breweries with casual atmospheres to some fancier places with beautiful dining rooms. A nice mix of cuisines, too--Mexican, Asian, seafood, steak, etc. And some coffee shops, too.
Definitely a great place to check out when in Omaha and, have to say, a neighborhood of this character was a pleasant surprise for this business traveler, even on a cold winter day!

My wife and I stopped at the Scooters after a morning run near the river. It was pretty nice and quiet as most folks weren’t on the move yet. Not a lot of activity here on a Sunday morning which was just fine with us.

Shopping, restaurants and photo ops all on cobblestone streets highlight this Omaha attraction. While not anything spectacular or original, it's still a must-see if you're in Omaha. Walkable and quiet, though there is the occasional solicitor on a corner or two.

Go there if you are in the Old Market in Omaha. Luckily we found this place on a recommendation by a local we met at a street corner stop light. Always ask a local for a restaurant recommendation -- you have an 80 percent chance of success in our experience in our opinion.
I

Great historic area with shops and lots of places for eating and drinking, cobblestone roads (don't wear heels, elderly beware!). Parking was very affordable. Staying at the Hyatt was a great location and it's a decent hotel, clean with no issues. I can imagine this place is very busy in the summer, In late October it was quite but all the shops seemed to still be open. I took off the one star only because of the homeless issues this area seems to be plagued with. It makes it less desireable of an area because of it and older reviews from as far back as 2015 suggest this has been a long going problem.

My daughters (8&3) and myself had so much fun just walking around and exploring Old Market. So many great options for meals and shopping. We also enjoyed the horse and carriage ride!

Ahem in Omaha from eateries to shopping it has the whole package you will love it and go back often it is a very special place in Omaha

Great food and great beer. It's a great place to eat and it's really a wonderful building. My husband had the put roast which he loved and I had the steak tip Stroganoff which was really great.

great area to walk around, have a bite to eat or do some shopping. lots of great, unique restaurants. easy walking distance from downtown

Great shops and restaurants. Plenty to do, pet and kid friendly.
Wanted to stay longer so we could try more restaurants. Something for everyone..

Was there for a night out with my wife. There were several groups of rough looking young men roaming around, openly smoking pot in public, making a lot of noise. We walked past what really looked like a drug deal going down. In short, we did not feel safe and left instead of going for a drink after dinner.
Omaha needs to police this area better, especially with the new park areas, or it is going to go downhill very fast. Still, there are many establishments there...M's Pub, Blue, Boiler Room, etc. that are excellent! I would rate them separately much higher.

Not only are there great shops, restaurants & architecture, but the Saturday farmer's market is top notch - Not to miss!

We visited the area but noticed most of the businesses were dining establishments. Yes, there were other types of business but mostly dining. We did like looking at all the old buildings and driving on the brick roads.

Always enjoy a day at the Market. No matter the weather rain or shine cold or hot, Old Market fun. Great variety of places to eat with some excellent venues. Shopping interesting and fun. Little stores here and there from candy to furs, antiques to tattoos could miss some places if not looking around. Active night life as well, great for dates. Fun events there throughout the year too. A must if visiting Omaha.

This is an outstanding location to walk around and dine which is very lively at night. Several high-end restaurants are located here and it’s definitely the place to go for lunch or dinner. Given that most of the restaurants are high end, it is recommended that reservations were made

Very good shops and restaurants. Plank is very cool and Jackson Street Tavern. Some locations are better than others. Know the location. A few homeless. Worth 2-3 days. Similar to FQ in NOLA but not as "historic".

I first walked here in the morning and there was really nothing open. We went back on a Friday night and it was a busy place with lots of people. The city is still working on revitalization and has a way to go but Old Market is a good start for nightlife and restaurants.

Fun place to walk around and check out the shops snd restaurants that are now housed in former industrial buildings. Very touristy of course, but then I am a tourist.

Had another great evening strolling the Old Market. Great places to eat or drink. Lots of stores to look thru. A little bit of everything for everyone

We walked around to check out the area on a mid-morning Saturday before having our lunch and were pleasantly surprised. They had a weekend market that was in full swing with plenty of local vendors, snacks, performers, etc. Great spot for people watching. I would definitely recommend that you stop in if you have the time.

I express that walking the old market was exactly what I needed during my hardship in life, it was relaxing to my mind and soul. I enjoyed everything I seen from the carriages to the different people all around me.I mostly enjoyed the people that played music on the corners or did a magical truck for a small donation.

I was at Omaha on a business trip and was looking for nearby gateway to spend my weekend. I stayed at Hilton Omaha and from that hotel Old Market is just few miles away.
Old Market gives you a nice Rustic look with old beautiful buildings. What I liked the most are these buildings exteriors are built in similar fashion with some flowers put up on exteriors of wall. There are quite a lot of options for you to explore interms of food and shopping.
They also have few good street music to pass by. People around are friendly and they guide you wherever possible. Best part which were fancy for me were the horse chariot and a mini bicycle based beer vehicles where you can take a small tour around old Market, sip beer and meanwhile bycycle. It’s the best thing to explore.

We enjoyed the food at several restaurants in this area. All were good. Best of all was the homemade ice cream place.

I wanted an old market place to walk through artsy places with good food so we went there, but the sidewalks were very dirty. Not a fun place to walk. Looking for something kept up a little better. It has potential, but needs a bath. Cigarette butts, litter, and just dirt needs to be picked up and washed. Old charm is one thing, but it's simply not appealing to be that dirty. Probably wouldn't go back. Probably wouldn't recommend. It's obviously good people trying hard, but missing curb appeal. All it would take is clean up.

Make sure to visit the Old Market area. Great atmosphere and severly lacking franchise stores. Get there before the Olive Gardens and Johnny Rockets move in. Awesome local stores and bars. Be sure to check out the Chocolate shop!

The Old Market has many nice restaurants and bars. Many areas are still being renovated so it looks like the best is yet to come.

we got there late on a Sunday, and most stores were closed....parking was expensive. Lots of cute shops and places to eat...also a nice chocolate shop!

Little bit of EVERYTHING!!
We found old style candy, unusual bars/pubs (all serving food), unusual boutiques, antique shops, clothing... EVERYTHING! only downside we could bit find hours of shops on line. We went late afternoon and everything was open. You could spend hours in this district alone. Well worth the walk. Parking is at a minimum go early and it's easy. Would recommend!

The old market has something for everyone. Food, different specialty stores, treats, bars, and pleasant atmosphere. If you can just walk around, there is plenty to see. If the weather is nice, the outdoor seating at the Spaghetti Works let's you watch all the activity as well as the horse drawn carriages.

Go to Old Market for the restaurants and bars, but don’t expect great shopping. There’s one lady’s boutique and some art galleries but not much else. We were here 2 years ago, and I swear a few of these places have the same tie dye merchandise; there are lots of candles and incense. Hopefully someday it will attract some great boutiques. Saw one window sign showing their support of city burning hate group, so that was a no. The policemen on the corner were a welcome sight. We took a TukTuk ride back to the stadium, and that was super nice.

The old market is a great shopping and dining destination! My girlfriend Tammy and I love spending time there browsing and shopping. Then a great meal at any restaurant there.

Came here because of the reviews. It is more run down than charming. It was a Monday afternoon, and lots of things were open, I just missed the charm everyone was talking about.

Meter street parking, uneven cobblestone streets and walking distance to hotels and green spaces. Nice restoration of historic buildings into galleries, specialty stores, cafes and restaurants. We had an enjoyable day walking around the Old Market District and through the adjacent parks.

We thoroughly enjoyed wandering one evening in this area. Wonderful shops and too many restaurants to count. Worth a few hours at least.

We went to Hollywood candy store all kinds of candy from years back, statues of Elvis, the blues Brothers, old soda fountain with jute boxes on them great flash back. Would like to see more of market place.

Enjoy shopping in old market. The restaurants are fantastic. Went to a nearby nail salon and they did a great job on my manicure and pedicure. Visited a couple restaurants while I was there and had great meals. Would definitely recommend.

We used to eat and shop in the Old Market years ago. Moved out of town and when we returned we were 180 blocks away so it took us a while to get back. We were very disappointed. Lots of restaurants (most of them very good), very few retail stores. But the worst was the trash and pigeon droppings. There were places on sidewalks we actually went in the street to avoid because of pigeon dropppings - extremely dirty and piled high. We will probably go back to Kaneko and to some of the restaurants but will be very aware of where we park and where we have to walk in deciding on restaurant.

It is so fun to walk around and look at all restaurants and shops. we ate at several restaurants and there is a lot of variety

In town attending a conference and it was recommended to visit the Old Market. Nothing was really appealing, the area needs updating to the sidewalks which are falling apart. Expected more shops to be available showcasing the area, but it ended up being bars and some restaurants, none really that busy. In fact, the are surrounding wasn’t very busy for a weekday at 6pm. I wanted to enjoy it, but I wouldn’t bother.

We went to lunch and dinner every day down in the Old Market District. Great restaurants, very walkable, speaks highly of Omaha!

Such a pleasant place to roam! Overland is my favorite shop - always have to pick up some gorgeous gloves!

Cute cobblestone streets with restaurants & shops. Near hotels and entertainment venues as well. Even bustling during the pandemic! Most places ask you wear a mask when entering but outside seems optional.

I have been here three times and maybe I’m being a Karen and showing my age. Oh well. Our hotel was great, but the OM gets sketchy at night. Definitely be either inside a nice eating establishment or inside your hotel by 10:00. Lots of litter. Lots of smells that reminded me of the subway in Chicago. It seems like most of the stores are occult-based or have a good amount of occult merchandise. I had one passerby growl at me (?) . Overall, our teens found stuff to do here (pinball arcade and haunted house), but there’s not much for younger kids. The best stores, IMO, are Hollywood Candy, the Christmas shop, the ice cream shop and the fudge shop. There were a couple of women’s clothing boutiques that were okay. The Passageway is the coolest part of the OM and it’s worth taking a few pictures in there. I don’t think I could fill more than a half day here, so it’s good that we had a car.

Good food, but the area itself is unremarkable compared to similar districts in Dallas, San Diego, or Kansas City. It's an area with some niche shops and good restaurants, but didn't have much of a vibe to it (at least the day I was there)

To me this is the most interesting area in Omaha. Small cafes, bars, etc. in old historic buildings. Not all the offerings are great but worth walking around to get a feel of the old industrial market area.

Temperature was perfect to walk this old market with stores and restaurants. I love it being outdoors in Omaha with amazing weather. A dream comes true!

Great night for out on the town. Unique shops, wonderful food and drinks. Love this area especially on a nice night for a drink on the patio

Maybe it was because it was such a nice evening, but my only complaint was parking. It was tough to find a spot, but once you so, there is plenty to do at the Market. A must if you are visiting Omaha. Plus other attractions are within walking distance.

Old Town Omaha is a fun place to walk around and explore. Lots of quirky shops and great restaurants. Recommend the Christmas Shop, Leather Shop, Spaghetti Works. Lots of art galleries, ice cream shops and fun stuff to do. Go and enjoy yourself.

Toured the Old Market on a Saturday morning. Wonderfully restored old buildings with great shops and food. Beautiful area!

Quaint little walking area with cool restaurants and shops! It was COLD when we were there but I can see
Where it be a really fun time Go for sure!

Some very unique and interesting shops in the Old Market area. The Embassy Suites hotel is right in the area so it's a nice little walk.

We liked this area for waking, looking at architecture and the preserved historical buildings were enjoyable to see. Lots of restaurants in the area with not much in the way of shopping. Weather was perfect for evening walking.

I absolutely love The Old Market area, it’s so cute and packed with fun places to see. We went to the farmer’s market then walked around a bit & grabbed lunch. I want to go back again and again! Love the brick roads, flower pots along the rooftops & all the outdoor patios.

This area is a renovated group of fruit and vegetable warehouses centered on 11th Street and Howard. The Overland Sheepskin Company, for example, was the banana warehouse. Go inside and look up to see the hooks where they displayed bunches of bananas for neighborhood grocers to inspect before purchasing. I used to work at this company as a seamstress. Other storefronts specialized in other types of produce, potatoes, melons, carrots, etc.
The Old Market is now a wonderful place to eat, shop, peruse art galleries, find antiques, take a walk through a memory land style candy shop, and check out used book stores. It truly has something for everyone.

Really nice, quaint place to walk around, visit restaurants, unique candy shop and clothing stores, really nice.

All kinds of neat shops and restaurants. $10.50 to park was a little high but it’s worth it if you’re going to spend a lot of time there. I like that you can walk comfortably around throughout the market area

In town for college World Series. Had a blast shopping here. Wonderful shops!! Outside seating at the restaurants was fun to watch the people

Nice area to stroll around. Lovely old street nd great historical architecture brought back to life in recent years.
Loved the architecture and the feel of the place. For me it was great due to the proximity of some of the key galleries.

What an amazing area to visit and enjoy. We had so much fun looking at all the different places and shops. One of my favorite places in Omaha.

This is a great part of town. The old buildings have been preserved and now hold shops, restaurants, and taverns. Beware of the parking police waiting for meters to expire. There are however, parking lots that allow parking for a full day for a very, very low cost.

It's very pretty. There are homeless sleeping in corners. Tons of places to eat. A really cool huge ventage toy store that has a mix of new and antique toys of all types. It's always a great place to visit.

I want them to do well, but quite frankly felt the whole place needed a good powerwasher to the sidewalks and streets. Old can be interesting, but dirty is something else. Although I had high hopes for the experience (and that it's close to where I live so I would be likely to frequent) several in our group stated they had no desire to go back with the lack of cleanliness being most common complaint. Seems easy enough to fix...if they do. Otherwise it was nice.

Not sure what I'm reviewing here, I assume it's the old market AREA, which has a variety of shops & restaurants. It's not all touristy - there is a good used bookstore, among other things.

Old market is a perfect place to spend a few hours one evening. Eclectic shops, all sorts of dining options and outstanding ice cream to finish it off.

What is going on in Omaha? The old market is where many homeless people are"living". It is not a safe area at all. I'm mad and sad at the same time. Is the city just ignoring this population of people? This was in the winter (February) and it was so cold. We had an incident in our Old Market hotel where a homeless person had gotten into the hotel stairway via the parking garage and started a fire. He was so cold. Having young kids there playing volleyball at the CHI Event Center, the kiddos wanted to explore Old Market, but it was not safe. I personally was confronted by a mentally ill man who got agitated because he thought I was ignoring him but I could not understand him. People leave leftover food on top of the trash containers for the homeless.

We were surprised to see so much open during June 2020. We wore masks some of the time and were able to visit so many shops and enjoy a beverage at a brewery. It was great.

My partner and I were completing a 50-state tour by visiting Omaha this past summer. We stayed at the Hyatt Place right near the Old Market area. It was convenient to stay there as there are many restaurants in the Old Market, so we had choices for lunch and dinner. During our stay, we stopped at the Upstream Brewing Company, Jams American Grille, La Buvette and the Omaha Prime restaurant. The latter two were my favorites. La Buvette served us the most delicious cheese plate along with fine wine in a glorious outside patio atmosphere that made me feel like I was in Paris..... and the steak at Omaha Prime was to die for - a delicious cut of savory beef that makes my mouth water just thinking about it! Don't miss the zoo if you are visiting Omaha, it's superb and I highly recommend walking around the Old Market area and visiting the shops and restaurants. The buildings are old warehouses that used to be trading places for farmers selling their wares. They are brick structures with lots of character. Enjoy your time in Omaha, we did.

The Old Market is one of the places in Omaha that you need to go check out. Most of the high rated restaurants are here like Plank Provisions and M's Pub. There's plenty of cheap parking so you dont have to worry about how long you are there.

Old buildings with multiple restaurants and shops worth visiting. The surprise came from the number of memorabilia and antique shops. The used book store is also first class. Lots of interesting places to explore.

My dad drought me to the old Market as a teen and I’ve been in love with the area ever since. Cool specialty shops, hip bars & restaurants with a great local art scene. I lived in the market and throughly enjoyed it. Strolling around and people watching is relaxing and entertaining. Grab a glass of wine or a cocktail and just chill. Try it you’ll like it !

Fun place to listen to music, check out bars and fun little places to eat. Some fun shops too. Cute brick streets.

Great area for weekend, day-time or night-time activities. Excellent ships, some of the best restaurants in the US and great bars also.

Every year for our Anniversary we stay at Embassy Suites which is right by The Old Market. We love going to the shops, bars and restaurants. The Imaginarium is our favorite shop. It's full of antiques and collectables. And for sure you have to go to the HOLLYWOOD CANDY STORE. Always a fun time for young and old.

We enjoyed walking around the Old Market area. There are lots of restaurants and bars. I was disappointed that there weren't more shops in the area though. There are several antique shops which seem more like junk stores, with a large variety of stuff. From empty, old beer cans to jewelry. There are some nice things but you need to look hard to find them.

very easy to find good array of shops make sure you look down or you will miss shops pleanty of places to eat good market on saturdays

I want to start this review by thanking the Mercer family who put millions and millions of investment dollars into saving this historical downtown Omaha restaurant and shopping district. In the 1960s, Omaha’s downtown was declining as large shopping centers were moving to the suburbs into giant malls. The Mercer’s as well as others invested great time and money in saving these old buildings, fixing them up to modern standards, and making them cool and profitable. Within a 4 block area, you will find 20 excellent restaurants, at least as many moderate to high-end shops, clothing, cigar shops, music stores, bars with live music, neighborhood hang out bars, spas, coffee shops, and several great parks to walk and relax in. Winter summer fall or spring, it’s a cool place to hang out. It makes me think of the song Dancing in the Moonlight, people who hang out in Omaha‘s old market “they don’t bark and they don’t bite, they keep things loose they keep things alive, everybody’s dancing in the moonlight“!

Old town has a variety of food and drink.
Go. You won't be disappointed.
You may have to walk. Be prepared to park away further.

My wife and I love spending a weekend in the old market. Walk around and check out all of the shops and bars. There is always something new to discover, and people watching is the best down there. Find a place at one of the bars outside and sit back, talk, relax, and watch all of the goings on. It really is quite entertaining.

Had a good time. So many places to choosed from. Ice Cream and candy to die for. Saw my friend Henry who i have not seen in almost 20 years. Plus the sights were great. Felt very welcome.

Walked around during the farmer's market. Neat and quaint. Cobblestone roads...... unique character.

Nice walk on a beautiful night. We were able to walk from our hotel downtown.
Many restaurants to choose from. Cute shops.

We had a good meal at one of the bars in Old Market but there really isn't anything else to do in the area.

Lovely downtown area with cute shops and delicious restaurants. Easy to spend an afternoon or evening in the Old Market area.

Great place to take the kids and check out the Christmas lights!!! Lots of great places to eat! Awesome shops!

The Old Market doesn't skimp on flowers and atmosphere. Many people of all ages were enjoying being there. I didn't walk the whole area as I chose the Durham Museum for most of my time. Being with others would make the market district more fun.

Not good for anyone who is unsteady on their feet. There’s a cobblestone street that’s pretty rough and also the sidewalks had not been cleared well after a big snow a couple weeks earlier, so the snow has been well compacted into ice. Lots of ice. The Christmas shop and lunch at the Irish pub were very good (but lunch service was quite slow.) The trees In the city were pretty with the snow clinging to their branches.

We enjoyed our time browsing around the Old Market District. We were fortunate that it was within walking distance of our hotel and it was nice to have it nearby. We spent one afternoon browsing the shops—there were so many fun local shops and local products, which we appreciated. We grabbed dinner at the Spaghetti Works, which is right in the Old Market District. It’s definitely worth planning a couple of hours, at least, to wander around this charming neighborhood if you find yourself in Omaha!

The Old Market is a collection of shops and restaurants. Cobblestone streets and converted loft space. Parts of it almost have a New Orleans / French Quarter feel to it. Many Omaha icons of varying quality (but icons nonetheless) are still located here - Spaghetti Works, Zio's Pizza, Drastic Plastic, Mr. Toad, Old Market Candy Shop, Tannenbaum Christmas Shop, Joe's Collectibles... too many to name. And the new Hyatt Hotel in the Old Market is a great place to stay.

The Old Market is somewhat overrated. There are very few shops here, so it is mostly restaurants. If that's all you want, that's fine. But to me, an old market implies a lot more.

There is plenty of fun shopping, and anyone can find a new favorite with lots of food options. What a gem right in the middle of town!!

Busy as a bee neighborhood loaded with food options. Many places have outdoor seating. Parking is tight of course but does open up- so be patient and wait for your opening

Lived in Omaha for the past 20 years and have made a number of visits to the Old Market. We particularly like visiting La Beuvette and M's Pub for their uniqueness but we also love several other restaurants there as well. There are a number of interesting shops to spend time at as well.

Area itself is pretty cool. Lot of different places to eat and shops to pop in and out of. Parking was fairly easy as well. We found a lot for $1 an hour or $10 the whole day. Pretty enjoyable way to kill some time with the family.

We were recommended to stop by Old Market while we were in town, and while we were skeptical at first, were pleasantly surprised by this charming little section of town.
Lots of cute little shops to stop by, beautiful old-school architecture and brick work, lots of streets musicians (including some really, phenomenally bad musicians), and a really cute vibe all the way around.
Be sure to stop by the Hollywood Candy Store, the cupcake shop, and all the rest.

EVERYTHING! Not one thing in particular. I did not have a lot of time so I did not go into places except Taka Lino (Tiki Bar). I did not stay to eat or drink because I did not have time! BUT the inside was amazing! I walked as many streets as I could and just peeked inside and took pictures outside. The market was amazing! OLD AND BEAUTIFUL! Everyone I met was super friendly!

Traveled our way here and was met first by the farmer's market. Bonus! Lots of variety, lots of hidden gems. There are directories around to help you navigate. We spent just over 3 hours here and only got through about a 1/4 of the total market area. Most shopkeepers were awesome. You must check out Chocolate Abeille if you love chocolate and/or honey. Moksha had some beautiful wares from India. Hollywood Candy lets you travel down memory lane with all their retro toys, decor and candy. The ladies at Tannenbaum Christmas store are wonderful and they have all kinds of things. Jackson bookstore had an overflowing collection, but make sure you have tome to look through it all to find what you want. Loved it and look forward to seeing it again.

Old Market is an eclectic shopping and dining area. The buildings are all a century old, lending it an aura of authenticity. There's a range of stores and restaurants ranging from fairly high-end boutiques and restaurants to dive bars and inexpensive retail. The result is a visitor mix that is neither too bougie nor too gritty. That said, it's pretty limited and not very scenic with the exception of the verdant Old Market Alleyway.

We went Saturday morning to the Farmer's Market and it was a beautiful day for it! Many different vendors, lots of produce (LOTS of dogs!)- a bit congested but not terrible. After that we ate brunch at Stokes Grill and Bar, sitting outside. Again, beautiful day and fun to watch people and visit. Lots of interesting shops and places to eat. We went back in the evening and ate at Blue Sushi Sake Grill (excellent!) and looked at more shops. Many people out and there were carriages offering rides. My biggest peeve was the crazy scooters that (I assume) you can rent. Several times we almost collided with kids zipping down the sidewalk on them, especially when it started to get dark. Parking is also challenging, but there are several public parking garages (for a fee) as well as private ones that charged $3-5. The parking meters are 3 hour, and it's $3.75 for 3 hours (debit cards accepted). Highly recommend spending time there!

If you like to walk, shop, and eat then swing by the Old Market area! Tons of restaurants, cool shops, and history packed into a few blocks! You could easily spend all day here.

I was expecting more shops in this area, but the ones that are there are, for the most part, full of junk. That said, lots of bars and restaurants and street musicians give the place ambiance.

The Old Market area is rich in history. Cobblestone streets, restored buildings, musicians, horse carriages, unique shops and more.
Several good restaurants to enjoy. Fun to walk around. Decorated seasonal. Close to event centers.

We had ice cream at Ted & Wallys, visited the Dolci ice cream store and the candy store :) We also took a carriage ride for my twin daughters 13th bday!

The staff and seafood at the Plank restaurant was great, and quite busy on a Sunday. But walking here wasn't the most pleasant when you had to dodge the hobos who seemingly love yelling at tourists.
Comments by reviewers Renae W and others from 2015/16 still seem valid even today in 2023. Why not give the hobos a home away from the Old Market?
While we're at it, a few more sheltered walkways in case of rain. And a coat of paint for some of the historic buildings.
Currently it's definitely below potential.

Old market had a selection of any and everything to do and try. We walked around all the shops. Staff were so nice except for a wine place. They were rude and we left which was sad because we would have loved to buy wine and drink at the hotel after our fun outting. The Christmas lights gave the market a beautiful feel. The closed in alley area and shops were very cute, nice rest place, and beautifully decorated. We spend several hours trying various shops, cupcakes, and cigar shops. Cool place, will be a visit again when in area:) Eat and drink at Upstream! Worth it!

A nice place to walk around. Have dinner. Get candy. Buy souvenirs. Clothing stores. Christmas ornament store. Used book store. Antique toy store. Lots of shops on old town streets.

Cobblestone Streets are the most obvious sign that you are in Omaha’s Old Market, which is a several square block area in downtown Omaha, filled with hotels, quaint restaurants and bars, unique shopping, interesting museums, and great people watching. Make sure not to miss the Old Market on your next trip to Omaha!

Looking for flowers during the week was impossible but on the weekend got some directly from the farmers

Went to eat and tried the scooters for fiance's birthday. It is not posted that you cannot ride the scooters on the sidewalk and then we got picked out of a lot of people and given a ticket that goes on our driving record. It was a trap and the cops even felt bad that they had to do it all because of the Mayor wants tickets. Totally not ethical! Will not be going back.

Very good place to walk and eat, many restarurants and bars around, many options to eat. I stay in the area was very good experience.

Great historic area! We enjoyed our time browsing around the Old Market District.
Many boutiques, shops and galleries, restaurants and local pubs, cafes and jazz clubs make the Old Market a favorite stop when visiting Omaha. We walked around to check out the area for 2 hours before having our late lunch at Mouth Of The South - Old Market. Easy parking.

I really enjoy Omaha. The people are fantastic and this area of the city is so quaint. Shops are nice. A good variety of restaurants. Just overall gives me the feels.

We stopped in the Old Market on the way to the airport and found a great restaurant to have lunch (Upstream Brewing Company). We walked around for about 20 minutes looking around but didn't have much time after lunch to get to the airport. Would have liked to look into some of the boutiques. Nice area and when in Omaha is a stop for sure.

This old area is meant to be visited if you’re visiting Omaha. We loved the variety casual dining sites. Local fare mixed with a variety of international cuisine: French, Persian, Indian, Mexican, Italian, etc.... we were surprised at the many unique shops, galleries and specialty shops on our walk.
,

If you’re in Omaha make sure to walk around Old Market. Quaint and has lots of charm. Fantastic restaurants and shops. The old brick on the streets makes it feel even more unique.

The entire area is a gem-restaurants, attractions, history, outdoor activities are all at your fingertips and feet. This city has a lot to offer with a personality and charm that is sure to please. We'll be back. 😎

Was the cutest little art shops. Stopped by the oil and handmade soaps. Brought s soap that smelled of coconut pineapple mango the smell is amazing ❤️

Just a beautiful place, with so much charm. The old brick buildings and streets have such history. Nice to stroll and peek in the shops.

Nice sights andf local people o felt like a local person. People went out offs there way to help me. I will be there tomorrow

There are a lot of interesting shops and restaurants in the Old Market! Definitely worth your time if you are in the area!

I will definitely return in warmer weather to spend much more time exploring the art galleries, restaurants and antique malls.

Very quaint and charming little area of Omaha. I thought it would be a lot larger - but it's just a few blocks. Easy enough to cover in a couple hours. There are a lot of interesting restaurants and the Old Market Passageway was also cute. It gets 4 stars because we liked the charm of it, but the stores were junky.

Lots of shops and restaurants as well as street music and entertainment. I saw carriage rides too. Great place to people watch. Probably 1-2 hrs or 3-4 if you eat too.

We only had one evening in Omaha to spend...so on the advice of our hotel desk clerk we headed down to "The Old Market" to find a place to eat. The area covers @20 blocks with numerous restaurants, art galleries and more. On our visit there were carriage rides and strolling musicians to entertain. The area was quite busy despite the fact that it was a Tuesday evening. We chose to eat in one of the historically preserved buildings and was quite satisfied with our choice. The atmosphere here is energetic and friendly. I only wish was that we had more time to walk through the area to see more of what the area had to offer.
The time you would spend here would depend on what your interests were.

This is a must go place in Omaha. With buildings and streets revealing its history, you can walk around and explore shops, restaurants and bars. A fun place to enjoy.

We came into town on a Sunday so not everything was open (and it is COVID) but we still had a great time walking around, drinking and eating. This place would be a blast next summer when COVID is over and on a Friday or Saturday when everything is open. There are so many shops, galleries, antique stores, etc. so much to do, see, eat, and drink.

Come here often for the variety and atmosphere. Service is always great. Why no 5 stars? Last 2 trip, calamari appetizer was terrible....all batter and crumbs. No third strike here. My personal favorite is the Jambalaya.

My teenager and I enjoyed a couple hours browsing around the independent shops. Made a few purchases and loved the cobblestone streets!

Great places to eat and shop. Can't come to Omaha without visiting here. You can spend an hour or a whole day and never be bored.

There are a lot of fun shops, restaurants, and bars to go to! It is pretty day and night and there is a wide variety of options.

We were there on a Saturday night and it was vey busy. We are not from a city and the meters and paid parking was a learning curve. Most restaurants were very busy and we ended up waiting 30 minutes for a table. The area was clean and felt safe. I would love to go back and explore it again. There are tons of restaurants and shops to explore.

As a person who lives hours away, I’ve been coming to the Old Market since the late 90’s. It never gets old. The food, the restaurants, everything is still beautiful in the old market. I love the smallness of the lil area. Hotels are within walking distance should you choose to spend the night.
They lit up the trees for the holidays. It feels magical. No picture can do it justice.

We enjoyed walking around even though it was very hot days. The stores were interesting, quite a variety of things to see. Art, food places, Fairmont antique/candy store was amazing - it took me back to my grandparents days and when I was little.
Only on Saturdays they close off the street and have a farmers market. That was so nice to go, people bring out their dogs, the fresh goods and homemade items and food.
What was totally amazing was the HoneyBee stall. This was the best. There was so much variety of flavors of jellies, jams made from honey. I wanted to buy everything, unfortunately we are not allowed to bring it through customs 😭

The Market Place area is very nice. There are some interesting shops and some great restaurants. You can find any type of food you want in the area.

This is a very neat historic venue. It is a nice place to walk around and take in all the brick buildings. It has a ton of bars and even has horse and buggy rides. Plenty of places to eat with a huge variety from bar food to 5 star restaurants and everything between. this is a place for the over 21 crowd for sure

I used to love to hang out in the Market when I was younger, but besides making sure that I get a great meal at M's Pub.....I don't feel too safe down there when I visit anymore.

I love the Old Market shops, galleries, restaurants and bars, but the streets and sidewalks need a good cleaning. It has been that way for years and isn’t getting better. Bring a fire truck over and hose it down before the annual Berkshire Hathaway meeting and do this once a month.

We spent an evening walking thru here and enjoyed it. A few stores were faves. One has a blast from past that my family ages 14-67 enjoyed. There was reminders from all of our childhoods. Very fun and worth a walk. Can’t remember the name but Donald Duck statue held door open. We didn’t get to see all stores but it was fun to explore some. Streets and store fronts are made or restored as originals from 1920s. Was really cool place to take a break from the long drive.

It was great fun to just wander the streets, in and out of shops and pubs, and see everything Old Market had to offer. On my next trip to Omaha I plan to stay in a hotel that is right there, in the middle of all the City Center action.

Lots of fun walking though the Old Market and visiting stores and eateries. Lots of places to visit, lots of places to eat and drink.

It’s a great area to walk around especially in the evenings. There are many restaurants close by that are great, and there are a bunch of unique shops in between those that are really great to check out. The cobble stone streets also help make it even more interesting of an experience.

Visited here and it was a cute atmosphere. Quaint shops, great restaurants, trees lit for the wintertime and brick roads. Whatever you are looking for, food or drinks it’s here.

Glad we stayed in the nearby Magnolia hotel. Quick walk to the market district. I was impressed with how revitalized and vibrant the area was. We traveled with two young children, and had a great time walking the area, going to different restaurants and shops.

This quaint old factory town with cobblestone streets, horse carriages, and cinderella rides, has some fun and delicious restaurants packed in the renovated factory buildings. Extremely walkable area for all restaurants in Old Market. On nice weather days/nights, the many outdoor terraces are chock full of people enjoying their time outside. There's a famous bar bike called The Patio Ride which meanders (lively) through the streets of Old Market. With the many parks and trails around the Old Market, walking it off never seemed so good. From microbrew beer to consignment stores to interesting shops, restaurants aren't the only thing that dot Old Market. Its a pretty cool place and one that pleasantly surprises most visitors.

A several block area of restaurants, shops, bars, and street musicians. Unfortunately there were a few beggars. The restaurants offer a wide assortment of foods. On Saturday morning there is a fun farmers market with an unbelievable assortment of vegetables. We saw chefs there buying for their restaurants. It must be a local favorite for pictures as we saw a groom and groomsmen in a photo shoot on Saturday morning.

Upscale chic stores occupy the buildings of the old market which is around 9 square blocks. The buildings are great. They are lined by wide covered sidewalks that make strolling them very pleasant even in the worst weather. The cobblestone streets around these buildings really set off the market. We went to this area for dinner each night as there are several very good restaurants. Afterwards we visited the stores which are upscale and modern (this is not throw-back western ‘old market’). In in town, visit this area.

I’ve been to this area each time I’ve been in Omaha. I love it. The restaurants are plentiful as are the great little shops. My favorite restaurant is Plank Seafood and Provisions. The food there is amazing as is the service. I highly recommend the area.

Visiting the Old Market village was like a step back in time. The streets were all paved with cobblestone. You can eat, visit shops, take a carriage ride, plus much more. A must stop to do.

A great place to visit during the Christmas season. Beautiful lights and the shops are opened with great decorations. The young children would love it.

Growing up in the 60's my dad ran a gas station on 12th and Jackson, now Ted and Wally's Premium ice cream shop. I would walk down to the market which was a farmers market and warehouse district. It is really neat to see what the old market place has transformed into. It is an in-spot to go to. Lot's of great restaurants and shops. A revitalization. Just a fun spot to go to meet people and have fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Old Market. So many awesome restaurants. Unique shops, pubs, and really liked Overland. I will be back!

Cute strip of shops and snacks downtown. It can be hard to navigate what is part of the market and what isn’t initially. Also recommend visiting on a nicer day since you do have to walk outside between shops

Our family women spent a weekend in the Old Market. Lots of variety fir all and plenty of good options. Is there a detailed map of stores and location? We would have loved one.

If you like to be in a downtown location with restaurants, bars and shops this is where you want to be. We always end up staying in the Old Market. Everything is within walking distance.

Loved the old market in omaha! This place has lots of things to do and see and especially the candy shop they have! If you have a sweet tooth then that is the place to go! All kinds of shops for everything you are looking for!

We enjoyed exploring the Old Market area. The stores and architecture are lovely, and the old brick streets seem original. There was a nice mix of families, locals and tourists. Would like to return someday to explore some more.

We stayed at a hotel nearby, and took walks in the Old Market. Very fun and cute, with good ice cream shops and cobblestones.

Lots of great developments happening all around Omaha, but none can replace the ambience of the original, the Old Market. With local and one of a kind shopping, drinking and eating options, the most fun may still be walking Howard, Jackson, and Harney streets.

This is a must see part of Omaha, it is really beautiful specially in this time of year with all the Christmas decorations. It has a few stores and a lot of restaurants. It is definitely worth the visit to walk around and explore this beautiful part of the city.

I went here during a snowy January day and while there weren’t many places to get away from the snow, especially because each store was so expensive, it was a charming area. The indoor part of the shopping area was beautiful and there are also some cool galleries.

Old market was a cute area just thought it was gonna be bigger.... the best was Ted and Wallys ice cream... they have cute shops and plenty of options for eating... also a market on sat but it's over around lunch so don't wait to late, we only caught 10mins of it and it was so cute, hated we missed the whole thing...

This was basically number one on the things to do in Omaha list so we had to see it. It’s a really nice area with lots of shops and restaurants. There are a good variety of little shops. My favorite was the Christmas shop. Parking is metered but wasn’t too bad price wise. My only gripe was that the maps were a little confusing. We were looking for a certain shop and where it was on the map didn’t exactly match up with the real streets. It’s a nice area to walk around for sure though.

The Old Market is the best spot in town to hang out. I have several local spots I frequent when come into town.
Good food, good wine, Live bands, and shopping! Such a cute, quaint, comfortable old spot!

We really enjoyed our time at Old Market we went back 3 times. So many places to eat and lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Parking is cheap either by cc or coins. Plenty of parking. So many restaurants you can’t choose

If you’re in town, definite worth a visit. There’s something for everyone from curio shops to diverse eating options. Be a little wary of traffic going through though!

Our visit was okay. I didn’t find a lot to do within my interests. I had lunch and explored a few shops. The buildings were really pretty.

What a pleasant surprise! My wife and I had a couple of hours before our flight home, and we decided to hit the Old Market for dinner. We did find a great restaurant, but there was so much more to see. We wished we had been able to come earlier and explore some more; it seems like you could spend several hours here and still not see everything.
We were there on a very rainy day, but it was still a great visit. Way to go Omaha!

If you're in Omaha for a short visit, plan an afternoon stroll in the Old Market area. Lots of creative shops focused on local artists. Plenty of restaurants to choose. If that's your thing, then Old Market is for you. LGBTQ and pet friendly.

Great time. We visited the Air and Space museum and stayed near the Old Market area. The city is very walkable, beautiful

Mostly restaurants and antique stores. Was hoping for more gifts type shops. Certainly a wide choice of places to eat. And charming little areas

Old Market is a charming blend of history and modernity. Its cobblestone streets are lined with eclectic shops, cozy cafes, and vibrant street performers. The lively atmosphere and unique finds make it a must-visit destination for those seeking a taste of the past with a contemporary twist.

Very cool historic market area in the middle of Omaha. The market consists of a few blocks of nice little shops, bars, restaurants and art galleries in a very historic area.
Parking van be a little difficult on weekend but if you're patient, you'll eventually find a spot. It's worth the effort as it's a very enjoyable area to pass a few hours.
-The Power Trippers

A few more venues would help all the existing facilities in the area. Mostly bars and run of the mill average food! Even the locals are tired of it and the new restaurants and bars closer to the baseball field have HUGELY hurt businesses in the area. There are absolutely no restaurants here above average.

I was looking for an independent bookstore called Our Bookstore. It wasn’t easy to find because the area has lots of little walkways and uses alleys well. I enjoyed mooching around.

Plenty of places to eat. Places to get dessert if you like. Check them out as I did and it was worth it.

If you like a variety of restaurants and shops, you will love the Omaha Old Market! From the bookstore, to a holiday shop, to a museum of haunted items and so many places in between, there is something for everyone. The restaurants are amazing, the people are friendly, and the overall experience is always enjoyable for my husband and me.

Old Market is the premier place to spend time in downtown Omaha. There are so many restaurants and parking is fairly inexpensive. Definitely recommend this area to all business and leisure travelers.

The Old Market area in downtown Omaha is a revitalized area of shops, restaurants, and drinking establishments. There is a little something here for everyone from quirky to expensive, casual to sophisticated, clothing, arts and crafts, home decor, etc. You could spend hours exploring the Old Market area or you can do a quick pass and hit the highlights.

We went during a chilly, drizzly day but the friendliness and generosity of the vendors kept us plenty warm ! Coffee samples and fresh bread and jerky, who needed breakfast?!
The variety of items was astounding and it was nice to be able to pop into the downtown shops and check them out also.

The old market is a quaint little area with cobblestone streets and restaurant. There are some interesting shops to browse in but for the most part you can do the whole thing in half an hour.
You would think with the history of Omaha that the old market could be better presented. The area around the old market is being renovated. For what??? Turned water into grass. The 30 year plan to bring Omaha to the future. Why not expand the past

Love the shops! Lots to do!! Definitely worth grabbing a meal and hanging out there when visiting Omaha.

One of the highlights of our trip home! We were staying at a hotel right across the street from the Old Market and decided to walk across the street and sample many of the restaurants and shops. A definite stop for any visit to Omaha

Very great shops and restaurants along this street that make it a very unique feature of the whole town and a great meeting spot.

The Old Market is wonderful for walking, shopping, and eating. It is a way to get an idea of the way Omaha used to be, but in a revitalized atmosphere.

This is a fun, family friendly downtown area. There are lots of shops to wander through, but many empty storefronts also. There are lots of great restaurants to choose from. Some areas seemed more run down, but still lots of options. There is a retro candy store/ Mercantile that all ages should enjoy.

The Old Market in Omaha is a great place to dine and shop. The cobbled streets give it that old time feel. There is a lot of outside dining on the wide covered porches that run along the streets. There are some really unique shops along the main drag.

We came to the Old Market area to see unique shops while in the area. I would say a majority of the businesses are food and/or bars. It’s a neat area to walk around in but don’t allot a large amount of time to it. Lots of dining options, a couple candy/ice cream shops, and a few shops. Since I’ve seen it, I probably wouldn’t come back unless I was going to a restaurant in the area. The cobblestone streets are neat but watch your step 😉

If we learned nothing else about Omaha, we found out that this is a foodies' town! We had some amazing meals in the Old Market area. Trinins Mexican, Nicholi's Italian, JAMS for brunch, La Buvette for wine and cheese and The Brownie Bar for dessert! All delicious!!!! Shops are limited and this area is still coming into itself. Omaha is doing a nice job of making this a destination.

The city has done a great job with this renovated area. Lots to see. A good vibe to the area. If you can't find a place to eat here, you're not looking!

The place really came alive on Saturday night. Good place to walk around during the day and people watch.

Great downtown neighborhood of Omaha. Shops, fun restaurants, fascinating candy/antique store. Wonderful place to spend an afternoon or evening.

Great place for a nice date night, dinner, shopping and a nice carrage ride. Beatufil in the winter with all the lights

I love a good downtown area, however this experience was a bit of a let down. They had a few good restaurants. The sidewalks were a disaster, I spent more time tripping than walking. Everything was tired and old, I would definitely not bring children here. If you are looking to do some shopping just forget it, there is virtually no shops.

New to Omaha. Upon our arrival we made a list of things to do & see. I can assure you. Visiting Old Market was very disappointing. I found it tasteless, dirty & to be honest. We found to be an utter waste of our time. O reason to ever go bk.

The lights, sounds, horses and goodies go on and on around every corner. Lolly gagging the day away from store to store, restaurant to brewery, sunrise to sundown and beyond.

I live the Ild Market! Love the many great restaurants, the horse and carriage rides, the rental bikes and scooters, the unique ice cream shops, and the general artsy vibe. There are lots of great things to do here if you're a window shopper, a beer drinker, a fine dining lover, or like, a person who loves to just sit drink wine and PEOPLE WATCH!

The Old Market has so much to offer, if you enjoy revitalized buildings that retain much of their former architecture. The warehouses now house restaurants and shops. Walking around the area is very interesting. There is also a farmer’s market on Saturday mornings.

Must go for Omaha! A very cool place to spend a morning or afternoon in Omaha. Awesome eating, great pubs and bars, and some very neat stores. I highly recommend Hollywood Candy!! Such an cool experience!!

Great place to walk and browse. There are cute little shops, lots of restaurants to choose from and it’s close to many hotels. I always make a point of visiting the market area when I’m in Omaha.

Do you want nightlife in Omaha? This is your one stop shop. Omaha has really stepped up it's game in the nightlife and restaurant department and you can definitely see it in this neighborhood.

We were there on a Sunday evening so there was not a lot of people around but there was still plenty to do. We were still able to have a variety of restaurants to eat at even though it was nearly 9pm. Probably about half the restaurants were open late.

Nice walkabout area with shops and restaurants. Lots of activity for all ages to be entertained. City is revitalizing many old buildings creating an amazing retail and entertainment environment.

This is about a four block by four block area of old brick buildings from the late 1800s that have been converted into residential lofts, restaurants of all types and price points, and stores from clothing to vintage items of all kinds. It’s a great walk around and great people watching. Very clean and safe. Definitely plan to spend at least a few hours checking out the great architecture and unique retail concepts and dining options. A ton of ethnic options as well that I noticed as well as a lot of family friendly places.

Crowds are ever present and parking can be an issue, but the Old Market has some great bars and restaurants and is a good use of a lot of old buildings on the city's east end.

Super cute area with lots of little shops. A nice variety of shopping, treats, restaurants, bars, and vintage shops. Could definitely spend and an entire day down here. Lots of personality.

Before the show, we select a restaurant to have supper. Nicola's is a favorite! There is a restaurant for all tastes. Plenty of ethnic choices along with American standards. Mr. Toad's is our goto for a quiet drink after dinner.

We arrived at 10am and found that nothing opened until 11am. The historic area covers about five square blocks so it is easy to navigate the area. Lots of restaurants to cover just about any taste. My favorite shop was Fairmont Antiques and Mercantile. It’s a walk back in time. Tannenbaum Christmas Shop has many unique and interesting Christmas items.

Lots of bars and restaurants, some boutiques and candy shops, within walking distance to the Riverfront Park, quite a few homeless people

Old Market is what you would expect....a good collection of bars, restaurants and shops that attracts visitors day and night. Lots of foot and car traffic, but a fun vibe. Certainly worth a visit....

Christmas is a special time to visit the Old Market and take a carriage ride--especially if you have a grandchild to accompany you.

Fun part of town with many restaurants and interesting shops. The area is safe and very walkable with many hotels nearby. Street musicians add to the char,. A fun place to psend a relaxing evening.

Our hotel was situated on the edge of the Old Market area. The area has numerous drinking and eating establishments as well as numerous specialty stores. I was in a wheelchair that was difficult to push due to uneven sidewalks. The store items were rather expensive, but unique! It is worth visiting but plan on only a few hours needed to explore.

Fun, fun, fun. Loved the candy shop, the Passageway, the shops, the tobacco shop, the old-timey feeling.

Once you find a parking spot, Old Market is a great place to eat, shop, walk and just hang out. They've managed to keep the same intimacy and charm for many years.

WONDERFUL we had a nice romantic dinner and shared a dessert and the setting and the courtesy of the waiter was fenominal. Even though it was busy it was nice an quiet. 100% a must exprience this place . I recommend thsi to everyone. Thank you Old market

The Old Market in the heart of Omaha downtown has a boutique vibe with its cobble stone streets , lamps and horse and carriages.... cute retail stores, a unique Christmas store open all year round and plenty of food and beverage establishments to choose from all types of cuisine, excellent for families , couples , friends gatherings

Large Historic area with a big selection of shops and restaurants. Clean, safe, well maintained. Block-long Lovely awnings covered with blooming petunias. Friendly shopkeepers.

If you stay in Omaha, stay at one of the Old Market hotels. You can enjoy an extended weekend without ever getting in your car. Boutique shops, unique shops, a wide variety of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. If you want a quiet stroll, go early, the evenings get crowded.

I love the shopping, food, atmosphere, and history of the old market. Carriage rides available for a romantic evening. Great variety of restaurants.

Interesting area with cobblestone and brick streets, lots of restaurants and places to have a drink. Great place to relax after sightseeing in Omaha.

This piece of downtown is an absolute gem. I was walking around wondering where all the cute shops might be hidden, but I was in the business district. I meandered down here and was immediately dazzled. There is so much to do! Plan to spend the afternoon down there again today!

Beautiful venue which embodies the spirit of Omaha. Fun place for shopping and entertainment. All sorts of restaurants, bars and sweets shops provide a great variety edibles while you fill your shopping bags with any number of clothing, novelties or gifts all in a vintage feel of old, repurposed buildings and brick paved streets. Want to stay longer? Ample hotels within walking distance as well as an amazing assortment of apartments and lofts above the attractions. Also within a short walking distance from even more entertainment options along the Missouri River a la Louis & Clark Landing.

We flew in from Michigan to see John Melloncamp at the Orpheum theater. Never been to Nebraska, never wanted to. Friends razzed us for wasting our time coming here. Well let me tell you, Omaha is a great place. Shopping, restaurants, parks, museums, we could not do or see everything in three days. The city is clean, feels very safe. Spread the word, Omaha is fun!

Was passing through Omaha and looking to kill some time. Came around 11 on a Sunday morning and a majority of businesses were still closed. Fortunately, the businesses that were open were all so kind and friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking to shop in Omaha!

We stayed at a nearby hotel and found it an easy walk to this area. There were loads of restaurants to chose from. We would recommend this area to others visiting.

This is written from someone who’s lived in Omaha, but hasn’t been back for a few years. Old Town still has charm, but I was surprised to see so many shops closed, and begging on the streets. The riverfront park in downtown Omaha is under construction and there just wasn’t the charm my family and I remembered. We’ll be back when the park is finished because I’m sure it will be beautiful.

This was a highlight of our trip to Omaha. We love getting into the local scene instead of touristy stuff and this fit the bill. Tons of unique shops and restaurants/bars. We would definitely go back if ever in Omaha again.

Stop at M's for a cocktail and lahvosh. Great place to walk around and pop into a few places for a drink.

Old Market in Omaha is a really atmospheric location. The cobblestone streets and the old buildings have lots of charm. There are many restaurants to choose from and there are a lot of unique shops. I loved the outdoors patios and balconies.

Very cute area with fun and unique shops and restaurants. Definitely worth a stop while in Omaha. Would go back again.

What a beautiful part of town. It’s nice to see how they re-purposed older buildings. The brick streets gave the area a historic feel. Lots lots lots of restaurants and shopping. It was a great place for a work trip being right in front of our hotel. Store are mostly boutiques and there is a huge variety of restaurants from sushi, Mexican, Indian to Steak. — there is also a walking path along the river. One one the best work trips yet!!

While parking can be a challenge, there are lots of fun things to do here and you will have a great time and experience! Lots of great restaurants and fun shops that stay open later!

That’s my opinion to go at night to see beautiful lights but go there around 3 pm on weekend since parking lot always full.
You guys can walk to check all the stores and can ride the horse carriage or rent bicycles 🚲 or open bar with bicycle to ride with 6 people. It’s cool... plus can walk to Arena if there is any events or Heartland Park.

More Food and Bars than anything else. There are some shops that are very nice. Over all very good place to spend several hours down town. Good place to go for any size group.

Love walking around here, ate at Jackson Street tavern worst service ever. Food not very good. No flavor.

Old Market has interesting restaurants, fun and surprising shops. There is always entertainment of all sorts in restaurants and shops, but also on the street corners. Take a carriage ride through the market and don’t forget the Gene Leahy mall Park in the middle of it all.
You can spend an hour or all day and you will get the distinct feeling of small town, big city Nebraska!

Walking around this part of Omaha is very easy and close to the river. Several inexpensive restaurants and many shops. Particularly liked the leather place. Sidewalks are uneven so be careful.

I was here several times while visiting Omaha. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, etc. to keep pretty much anyone interested. There is something for everybody.

Started our walk at the Farmers Market and then went to the surrounding stores. Played pinball at the candy store and laughed at the tshirt shop. Loved the road made of bricks.

A lot of great shops, bars, restaurants, and a couple of breweries. Geared more towards nightlife as most places do not open until 11:00 am. Was really impressed with the Farmers Market on Saturday morning, a lot of produce.

I was looking forward to visiting the area but with all the rain during our visit, it was not a good rainy day location.

My husband & I were in Omaha for a few days & we enjoy visiting the Farmers Markets everywhere we travel.
We first followed the directions that took us to a parking garage, not “Old Town” downtown.
There are lovely shops in the area, and actually one of my favorite areas of Omaha. The Farmers Market isn’t huge, but still has lots of locally grown vegetables, fruits, meat, flowers, etc.

This is a beautiful quaint old market with cobblestone streets. Lots of unique shops , and restaurants. This is a pleasant experience. A must in Omaha.

Found the area by accident walking to the Amtrak station. It was decorated for the holidays and full of restaurants and small shops. Would like to have learned about the history and the two repurposed train stations close by.

We love to stroll the old market. The cobblestone roads and all the little shops. Plus there are a ton of restaurants to choose from.
Nice area. You can spend a whole day here. Prices are typical, nice shops and restaurants. Me and my wife enjoyed walking the streets and shopping. Stopped in at Jams for lunch. Really liked this area. Plenty of parking and something for everyone. The shops have some cool stuff. A little pricey but expected for the area. Still bought some really cool hard to find stuff.
