This is a small museum on the outside. Once inside and speaking with the curator, the museum takes on a whole new scope. Since this museum isn't heavily trafficked, you have a good chance at having a private tour and being treated to some fascinating stories about the people who made Slidell. Slidell had its beginnings as a supplier of foods to New Orleans and as a main station on a new railroad breaking ground for a new route to New Orleans and opening Slidell for many new industries. The museum was built in 1907 as the Town Hall and Jail replacing an older wooden structure. As the curator will explain, it is part of "Old Town" - many of the historic houses and buildings from the town's history - within walking distance. After the museum, if you check out Old Town you'll find great food and some cool bars to visit in the evening.

We live in Slidell and visit Olde Towne often. There's always festivals and Art events. There are many locally owned places to eat and drink as well.

Great little section of Slidell with some outstanding restaurants and shopping with a great small town feel. Lots of events throughout the year including antiques fairs, arts evenings, etc. Small enough to walk around and take it all in.

Great place to live, work, and play! One of a kind shops, art galleries, antiques, alternative medicine, dog groomer/shop, eateries, salons, night life, parks, festivals, events, and more!

Great location in Slidell with lots of history. Try many of the local restaurants and check out the local art galleries and antique shops. This place is especially fun when they have local events. I would not recommend going later at night unless you are used to an often under aged and sometimes under aged crowd. While their are some promising adult venues such as the wine garden, it has a long history of below average bars filled with trouble as the night deepens

We were worried where to park or where not to park. This place is good, but better sign posting needed.

This is a small hidden gem. Indeed the museum building is small but the curator is amazing. A real historian for the area. Locals should take the time for her stories. We were there for 2+hours. What a treat. There is no charge but they accept donations.

Few of my favorite places/restaurants are in Olde Town. It's very cute and I hope it keeps growing! Also, good Pokemon hunting.

Olde Towne Slidell is so Quaint!! They have good restaurants and antique shops and specialty shops too. There is also a small museum too. There is also a Market on Saturdays.

My wife and I visited last Spring on the way from TX to AL in our RV. We stayed at a local Elks and took the short drive to Olde Towne in between the rain storms. The area is an easy walk of about 4 city blocks with several items to see. We were there at lunch time and ate at a corner restaurant filled with locals. There are several bars and restaurants of different food choices. We would return again to look at the painted murals on the walls.
Great place !
Loved our visit to the old town, like stepping back in time. Plenty of bars, restaurants etc and an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
