Great place to visit with friends and family or alone. You can walk across the dam or around the park and also thru some trails, all with the beautiful views of Canyon Lake. The Corps of Engineers has done a great job in keeping this area very nice for everyone to enjoy.

Crowded, but justifiably so, nice views of the lake. Can find a quiet spot, although not if you want to go swimming on a weekend. Looks like a nice walk on the dam. Lots of places to have a scenic picnic at this park.

Found this place by accident, beautiful view and easy to get to. Get there early due to the parking.

Hiking and walking along the Canyon Lake dam, and a nature trail near the dam.
Also, a new trail--the Gorge trail is a great experience very close to Overlook Park.

This FREE park is located at the top of Canyon Lake Dam. It is open from dawn till dusk and offers a fantastic view of the dam and lake especially at sunset.
There are benches and tables and free parking available seven days per week.
At the base of this park you can take a trail down to the water and an area where some like to swim and sun.
Most days you can step out on top of the dam and walk it's length. From the top of the dam the view is expansive in both directions. One side is the lake the other side offers a view of the hill country and the river escaping the lake.
This park is within two miles of the entrance to River Road which crosses the river seven times on your way to New Braunfels. A wonderful drive for sure.
You won’t be disappointed with your visit to Overlook Park.

Beautiful View of Canyon Lake from the dam. You can walk on the dam, or walk down to the water. Take a picnic lunch and sit by the water and watch the boats.

Close by Canyon City and Sattler. Lots of things to do besides great lake diving. Helicopter tours of the lake are available and there is a dive shop, Canyon Lake Divers nearby for tank fills and equipment rentals.

The website says it open on Sunday at 630 am. Family and arrived at 730 and the gates are closed at both entrances, really upsetting after an hour and a half drive to get here.

Beautiful park! Wonderful views and easy walk atop the dam. Trail down to the water is easy going down but coming back up is easier if the trail is followed around instead of going straight back up. Clean and peaceful area. Water is so clean and pretty. Park was really busy on weekend, go during the week if possible if you are looking for a quiet little get away. We really enjoyed!

Although the "park host," as it read on her truck, was unpleasant to my family, the views surpassed her ignorance and rudeness.
The Overlook Park is a must see if you're in the area. I visited on a Thursday, it wasn't crowded, be prepared for a rough rocky walk down if you take the upper path, otherwise take the first pathway.

The trail to the water not bad coming up a little trying for us 60 year olds. Stoney where water shoes.

Phenomenal views that we weren’t expecting driving up. Trails, facilities and history on the 2002 flood. A nice time to visit during more of the off season

Beautiful park with gorgeous views. There are park benches under huge oak trees overlooking the lake.

Nice view of the dam and lake. Park benches set up and trails down to the water and easy walking on the dam. So peaceful and relaxing to watch the sun set over the lake!

Perfect for an hour of walking down to the lake and in top of the dam. Walking the dam from end to end is 0.8 of a mile or just over 1.5 miles back and forth. Terrific views of the lake! There are trails down to the lake that are pretty easy and take just a few minutes. Volunteer efforts have kept the area pretty much litter free. Recommend visiting this park if your short on time.

I was there on a Saturday, and if you get there early enough (10 or 11am) you'll have the place all to yourself. After lunch time it started getting pretty packed, but thankfully we already had our hammock spots set up and everyone else was posted at the shoreline.
The water is crystal clear blue, a beauty as you walk to it from the short, steep hike down to get there. The park is free entry and bathrooms are available at the entrance.
If you walk down the shoreline away from the dam, there are some big boulders about 8 feet above the water that are perfect to jump from if you want some adrenaline. Otherwise, the water is perfect to wade in and I liked playing in the gentle waves as the boats passed by.
Pack some snacks and plenty of water, and BRING A TRASH BAG. That was the one downfall is how littered the park is. Other than that, highly recommend for a nice day trip!

My husband and I visited here while on vacation in October 2019. It was a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy the scenery.

Even under hot summer rays, the view top of this dam was pretty nice. The dam has a gated entrance. Walkway is free, paved, maybe a mile long. Overlooking the water in one side and hill country on otherside. If it snowed, one would wish to sled down the grassy side, although the ride would be long and steep. The dam is near a park where some walk down to reach the water to swim or sit under umbrella. Minimal shade. Few boats out on the water (prob coming from nearby marina). Nice area for sightseeing. Parking is free.

Overlook Park is on a hilltop near the south end of Canyon Dam, it is open from 7 am until sunset. It was our favorite place to walk with a beautiful view of the lake on one side and a beautiful green landscape on the other. Restrooms and visitor parking are available. There are no camping or picnic area. The use of this park is free of charge.
Many people walk with their dogs. It was a little windy in April, but what fresh air at this time of year. And what beautiful blooming fields with wildflowers all around, bluebonnet and how wonderful they smell!!

Could be a beautiful place. There was trash and beer cans all over the trails. The bathrooms were filthy. We tried to ignore the trash and just enjoy but there was just too much.

Great view of Canyon Lake and the valley below. Good place for a run across the dam or for a walk with the family. Easily accessible

Water was so gorgeous my family and I walked the dam and sat at the lake.Good work out on top of that

Went in the middle of the day and walked along the dam. The walk was 0.8 miles one way but with a nice, large path that allowed everyone to walk comfortably. The park is pet friendly (a plus) and definitely a family favorite. The gate to get to the walkway on the dam wasn't accessible for a wheelchair so I would call in advance as they have a gate that they can open. All in all, stunning views and a relaxing way to spend your time.

Overlook Park provides Great Lake views and tremendous photo opportunities. This is probably the best spot for snapping ever-changing sunsets. The walk across the dam is a popular flat surface walking opportunity which is hard to find in the area. The park closes at sunset.

This is a free park that has awesome views. The hill down to the little beach area is a little steep, but not too bad. Wear good shoes. It’s a clean park and there are restrooms at the top of the trail. We will definitely visit again

Loved this place! It was so pretty definitely a must see! Great for kids and adults, also fur babies, lol.

You can walk across the dam on a paved road or just sit under an oak tree and enjoy the view. I like watching people and their dogs too. We also drove over and looked at the outflow from the dam/power generation.

We took my mom on a walk along the dam. She is on a walker & was able to navigate really well on the smooth surface. Thankfully there was a nice breeze off the water so it wasn't too hot. Decent bathroom too.

While on a drive up from San Antonio to see Canyon Lake, we noticed that Overlook Park was the number one rated attraction at the lake. We decided that it was worth a visit, so we drove over to the park. We were not disappointed. What a beautiful location with great views of the lake. While at the park, we enjoyed watching two road runners with our granddaughter, a rare sight for visitors from Vermont.
This park is popular as we notice lots of people visiting. It was not crowded though, at least on the day we visited.

Really nice area to visit and relax.
We go there every few months. Love Canyon Lake.
Watch out for the hawks if you have a small dog.

Very clean park with great observation areas overseeing the dam and the lake. Amazingly awesome views! Great place to explore the great outdoors!

you can catch a very beautiful sunset over the Canyon Lake from this place.
Warning
1. One side of the pathway is a straight fall down a rocky slide
2. the other side is a fall down grass
3. there are no walls or fences - if you are travelling with kids, please be sure to hold their hands and do not let them run

You can walk in the dam too. Nice trees. You can walk down the trails to lake side. A little rough walk with rocks and a bit steep to water.
But nice lark to enjoy views and outdoors.
No charge to get in,

The park offered a nice view of the dam and the lake. The walk across the top of the dam was great. On busy days, parking is insufficient and the public restrooms are quite nasty.

Was here for a visit and was not aware of this great dam and view of the lake! While out sight seeing we ran across this beautiful lake. Got out to take pictures and realized there was a paved road to walk across. We loved it. Was a great way to get a little exercise and see the dam and the view of the lake!

You get a great view of Canyon Lake, and the Guadalupe River outflow. The park has restroom facilities and picnic tables. This park is open year around and has a walking trail over the dam. A must see when visiting the Canyon Lake and New Braunfels area.

You can walk along the dam to get a very nice view of the lake. Some people were walking down a trail (a little steep) to the lake that had a little sandy area. Free.

The walkway across the top of the massive dam offers spectacular views of the lake. Almost a mile long, it’s an easy flat walk which can be enjoyed by old and young alike. There’s also a Park for picnicking, trails down to the lakeshore, and an interpretive kiosk detailing the construction of the dam. There’s no charge to access the dam or park.

We enjoyed hiking around the lake; easy rock climbing (stepping over/on rocks); LOTS OF TRASH!!! I was saddened by the amount of litter!!!! Spent most of my day wishing I had another day available to go back with a trash bag!! Such a shame people who litter don't have more respect for the area around them.

The view from the dam is gorgeous. We wish we knew about it sooner but now we know where we're going to swim at next year!

I used to bring everyone here but since they closed the dam walk way I don't care to use this park. Me as well as many others are praying those in charge will come to their senses and reopen the walk way

Great views of a special lake in a very nice location in the Texas Hill Country. We live relatively close by and love the lake and the geography nearby.

I really enjoyed the park. It was hot as Hades as it is still be expected during the Texas summer. We received some respite when the sun went behind the clouds. We took a walk on the dam which had a great view of the lake and even spotted a squirrel living amongst the rocks on the lake side of the dam. We also hiked down to the water and although we didn't get in the water looked great. It was very clean and there were several families swimming. There wasn't a beach entrance so it was a little rocky, but not bad. It's a great way to spend time enjoying the water and to get great views of the lake. The park is free and closes at sunset.

The guide that signed us in said he was new and couldn't answer any of our questions. He was kind though.

We drove up to the parking area here from our cabin. We then walked down to the lake with the dog, not for people with mobility issues. There is a place a little further down with benches and a nice view for people with physical restrictions. The water was surprisingly clear and our dog enjoyed the walk.

My new breathtaking oasis. As soon as I pulled into the lot, the lake was picturesque and brought immediate satisfaction. Overlook Park is the ideal space for immersing in nature. There are areas for hiking, elevation along the dam, and walking along the lake, within feet of stepping in the water. This is also a therapeutic space with the soothing sounds of the water, the rustling of the winds, and the motors of boats and airplanes nearby. No entry passes are needed and convenient parking is located in the vicinity. This is certainly worth adventuring.

omg, the place is super, my camera did not capture the beauty. Its best seen with your eyes. What a wonder.

My family and I learned about this place while staying in New Braunfels for Labor Day weekend.
We were traveling with 3 teenagers and a 7 year old.
We absolutely loved this place! The views are amazing!
We hiked down to get to the lake and it was quite a work out so make sure you wear hiking shoes/sandals.
I'd also bring along sun screen, water shoes, water, wear comfortable clothing, hiking shoes/sandals and something to cover yourself from the sun. I also saw a family that brought foldable chairs and a small cooler. I thought that was genius!
The water was clear and cool. Perfect for a hot summer day. There were several boulders to sit on while watching my little one enjoy the cool water. AGAIN wear water shoes! The floor of the lake is made up of rocks! And they hurt your feet pretty bad so you tend to stay In one spot and not move as I did.
We were able to see small fish swimming since the water is very clear. We also saw several insects all amazing to my little one and also deer grazing.
I was shocked that even my teens were in awe of how beautiful this place is.
It's in our come back list since we were heading back home when we stopped, we feel that we didn't quite enjoy the park or were prepared for the visit.
I highly recommend a visit to this park.
P.S. In spite of it being Labor Day weekend there was not a crowd, the perfect amount of families visiting. We figured this must be a hidden gem. ;)

This trail runs along the dam alongside lake. It is very beautiful with about a 1.7 mile trail. There are many walkers and runners. Good views of the hill country too.

Absolutely gorgeous view of Canyon Lake from the hills above as well as the lake shore. Nice gravel trails, very clean and beautiful view of Canyon Dam and the Lake. Wear comfortable hiking shoes as trails are endless..... definitely worth a stop when you're in the area...

It was nice to walk across the dam with the family, and overlooking the lake was beautiful. We walked down to the water, and there were a few families swimming, but it was pretty rocky along the edge.

Very beautiful and well-kept park. Be aware - it closes at sunset set. The caretaker drove his truck to the edge of the dam, sounded a siren and announced the time of the sunset and that the gates would be locked at that time. It seemed to disrupt the mood, since one might feel compelled to race to their car to ensure they don't get locked in. In other case you can actually walk out on the dam, but you must navigate around the closed gate, preventing a vehicle or wheelchair from gaining access to the dam. There are benches where you can watch the sunset... but the best view is from the dam.

We loved the view from the top of the dam. The lake is beautiful. We have a small dog that is eager to sniff and explore which made me nervous being so high up with steep drops on both sides! Didn’t explore the trails to the lake as we are seniors and don’t hike. There were a lot of families that were at the shoreline so looks doable.

The park provides some nice views of the lake if you are willing to walk along the trails. You can also stroll along the waters edge.
There is some trash on the trails and along the waters edge left by knuckle heads.
If you have some time to kill or have some kids in need of burning energy you can do it on the trails or skipping rocks along the edge of the lake.
You can walk across the dam on a nice walkway. Sometimes it is closed for maintenance.

The Overlook Park did not have enough designated parking and had no trash cans. It was too steep for childen on the path to Canyon Lake.

Nice view of the lake. Short hike to the water. The water is aqua blue and clear as glass. Beautiful.

The last few times we visited the Overlook Park, we didn't go on the Nature trail by the river. This time we did. It was nice. It took about 1:1/2 hour to walk the whole trail. Beautiful view of the river. Quiet and peaceful. At the Overlook Park you walk across the Dam, it takes approximately 30 minutes to walk across and back. beautiful view of the lake. Good exercise. Dogs have to be on a leash.

We sure enjoyed the Canyon Lake Tx Dam and Overlook Park. It is safe for little ones to walk on the dam and on the trails. Also, do go below the dam and hike along or in the stream, too. Great family outing!!

Friends couldn't believe we were on Texas. Great place to take photos and watch the white sails on the boats.
Wonderful day.

We walked across the dam and the view is beautiful. Very pretty lake. It is nearly a mile across the dam. Great place to get a walk in.

It's a nice area to swim and sun and nice park but.... if you're going to swim be sure to have plans to stay a while as the walk d

N to the water is very steep and a good trek back up. I don't suggest those with health issues to make this trek as the climb back up is horrible. This comes from a firefighter and EMT.

My wife and I were encouraged to visit this park by the extremely helpful ladies who worked in the local chamber of commerce visitors centre. It was a short drive up to the park. There was no fee. From the park, we walked just under a mile across the top of the dam to the other side. It was steady stroll over the flat path - no need for walking shoes here. There was plenty of raptor action - the birds seem to be posing to provide the best profile. This is a highly recommended stop if you wish to enjoy tranquillity and a scenic vista.

I enjoyed the overlook of the dam and the lake. There were also hiking trails and some fishing areas. This is a nice over view of the dam and lake construction.

The location identified on this Park is incorrect. It is located on the South end of Canyon Lake Dam, North Park is located on the opposite end. The location shown here is in Johnson City, TX. Not sure what they are calling city center but if North Park is 4 miles then Overlook Park is about the same. The Corp of Engineers Office is located at this Park with lots of parking. The walk across the Dam about a mile starts here. You can also walk down to the beach from the parking. This is the only park at the lake that does not charge a fee for use. The park closes at dusk. The Canyon Lake Gorge Tour also starts at this Park. You can get a look at the full length of Canyon Lake from this Park and only this Park.

The views of the lake from the dam were gorgeous. We didn't make it for the sunset, but I'm sure that would be a beautiful place to watch the sunset. We also enjoyed the Guadalupe river trail the starts at the foot of the dam before you turn to go up to the park.

We walked the dam, & spent a little time walking the trails down by the water. Some nice scenery, including panoramic views of the area. Very pleasant, & would recommend to anybody who wants some not-so-strenuous exercise.

we arrived about an hour before sunset and walked around the park. if you are military, you can enter on that side of the park-- which stays open longer. then we had a campfire and snacks--- while enjoying the beautiful sunset and stars. lovely area--- nicely developed and maintained with restrooms, areas for campfire, picnic tables with covers, and campsites.

We went here to do some hiking and take some pictures but quickly found out this is a local hang out for swimming. It's just beautiful there are two ways to get down to the water the way we went was tough climbing with the loose rocks and complicated footing, i don't recommend for older people or younger children we had quite the time getting swimming gear and coolers down this cliff on top of the heat it takes a lot out of you. Once your down it great , there is a rock shore to sit on and some nice shallows to swim before it gets deep. Go in the morning before it really hot because there is no shade by the water either. All in all its a great place to be the dam is breathtaking and the deer will stand long enough for you to snap a few good shots , no picnic tables only benches and they do have restrooms. You won't be disappointed but I recommend going down to the water by the dam and not the Cliffside.

DAY USE ONLY
Hours: 7am -Sunset Daily
Season: Open All Year
Overlook Park is on a hilltop at the south end of Canyon Dam and is the location of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers headquarters at Canyon Lake. The park offers a scenic view to Canyon Lake and Dam. There is access to the Verada Real walking trail across Canyon Dam. A restroom at the top of the hill and visitor parking is available. There are no camping or picnic facilities but you are welcome to hike and picnic.

We checked this place out on our last day. It is beautiful. Give yourself time to walk it and appreciate the views. I also recommend swimming and kayaking.

We walked every morning at 730am first week of May 2022. The view was outstanding and great breeze coming of the lake.

This is a great view of Canyon Lake and the hill country. FREE parking and no entry fee. It was a nice walk to see all of the Lake and the surrounding hill country.

A steep, short hike down to a mini-beach by the dam is a fun spot to play in the water. My boys loved playing with the rocks. They didn’t swim far out - we were a bit nervous as to how sharply it shelved. It’s a v popular spot for families to spend the whole day - lugging down boats, inflatables, tents, grills, coolers ...easier going down than up! We had other places to visit so only stayed an hour, left around 1pm. People were still arriving as we left, so imagine it gets packed all weekends and holidays (this was Memorial Weekend, Sunday). Parking is limited, plus only one restroom each male/female at the Overlook. There were also porta-potties, but no toilet paper or hand washing facilities there.

We were pleasantly surprised with this little park. There is alot of parking, quite a few very easy hiking trails but what is nice is that you can get right on shore and walk the part of the lake from the trails. Sometimes you cant get anywhere near the water so it was nice to have a park that lets you enjoy the views and put your toes in if you wish. Would go back again and spend some time on the shore. Over good walking hike but not real difficulty to the trails.

The views of the water are lovely, and the trail is nice (though I wouldn't recommend it for people who are unsteady on their feet). Nice place for a quick hike or a picnic or even a swim.
Plenty of parking. There are bathrooms, but I didn't use them so I'm not sure how clean they are. My only complaint is that the dumpster was overflowing when I was there.

This is a beautiful place to take a walk and get a good view of Canyon Lake.
The dam is very large and you can walk along the top or bottom and get a great scenic view of Canyon Lake.

Look at the lake or stroll across the dam. You can walk down to the lake level and do a little fishing. Restrooms and a limited number of pinic tables. Mostly a place for a long walk across the dam and enjoy the scenery. If you are looking for a place for the kids you might want to try one of the other parks on the lake.

This park is actually the Canyon Lake Dam itself. One can walk or bike across the dam to another park, there are some picnic tables and shade, and the "Canyon Lake Gorge" is partially viewed from the second parking lot. It is up on a tall hill as the dam was constructed between two large hills. There are some trails to the water but the water frontage is mostly rocky here. It's free and has a great view of the lake and surrounding areas which is hard to find for free at Canyon Lake.

A nice walk across the dam. Safe for kids (we took our 3 year old all the way across and back). Great place to take pics of the lake. Can get windy on the dam - take a light jacket. You can walk down and swim. I saw some people fishing. My kid had fun throwing rocks into the water. Area closes at sunset. Great nature trails very close by.

I grew up hiking the So Cal mountains so traversing rocks and enjoying fresh water is, hands down, some of my best memories of growing up. To find a small taste of this in Texas?! Holy smokes, Canyon Lake has scored! Beautifully clear water. We visited during a holiday weekend and were told the crowds would be overwhelming...not! It was hilarious to us to hear the Canyon Lake locals speak of how busy it was because, well, it really wasn't. LOL!

The walk down is steep and parking is challenging. Once you get to the water there is a small, crowded area filled with rocks. Some of the pictures make it look like a beach but it is far from a beach. In the water there are large rocks below the surface that you have to do your best to avoid for your shins sake. The water is beautiful but the effort to get to it isn’t worth the trouble. We paid 10$ at Jacobs creek park and had a MUCH better experience. You can park right by the water, there is covered seating, and a true beach entry with sand. It’s beautiful and convenient. We would not return to overlook park.

Park closes at sunset. Just make sure you have timed it so you are walking back toward the car when the sun sets. The Sheriff came by and told us all we had ten minutes. After ten minutes he announced to return to your car immediately or you will be cited! I walked as fast as I could, but could not run it!

Went to visit Canyon Lake for the first time and hard to believe water this turquoise /blue and clear exists in Texas and a lake to boot! Overlook Park is pretty especially walking along the dam area to watch the boats go by or the sun set. Getting down to the water and back up can get tricky and the slope is steep but pack lightly and you should be set. The drop offs are steep so watch your kiddos and weak swimmers and make sure life jackets are put on. My family and I found a nice quiet area on a Tuesday and we pretty had the place to ourselves, except for a group of ladies who bought their kayaks and kept to themselves; a family here and there and the nice sound of kids’ laughter and the waves all contributed to a wonderful time . We came back Thursday thinking it’s still the same but alas, the nastiness of humanity all showed up. There were people who decided to plop their stuff less than 6 feet away and seem to be oblivious to the idea of social distancing. The place is pretty big so I have no clue why these people felt like they needed to be near us. I had to keep asking people to keep their distance. Then there are those that feel it’s their duty to play music loud enough for the whole lake to hear. This makes the place lose its tranquil vibe and I really hate people that behave like this. Not everyone is there to listen to your music so please keep your volume in check. Damn, the place would have been really perfect if not for the riff raff, self entitled trash that showed up that day.

Great for a walk! The view is so nice. Even though it was cold when we came, it was completely worth it. Make sure to explore everywhere here. There are some hidden spots.

Absolutely beautiful views from the dam overlooking Canyon lake. The walkway is probably a mile long. Not sure if there is park or play area for kids there but well worth the visit if you are visiting the Canyon Lake area on Hill Country, TX.

Provides an elevated view of Canyon Lake from atop the dam. You can also walk across the dam (0.8 miles one-way).
Although we did not, it appears you can swim here. A little walk down a path to the lake has what appears to be reasonable access to get wet.

Have you ever noticed how some people are easier to draw out if they’re physically active? Well that’s the case in our family, and for honest heart to heart chats - this is a great place. You’re outside and for the most part it’s pretty peaceful and easy to stay focused on each other. Enjoy nature ✨

My husband and I went to Outlook Park for a short visit on a Saturday afternoon. There are great views of the lake and benches to sit on. There are no picnic tables. The park is hardly ever crowded. The restroom was clean and spacious but there were no paper towels, no hand driers, no heater or A/C. There is walking access to cross the dam.

The lake is clear and gorgeous. Very relaxing and refreshing! This park has some of the best views. We took amazing photos here.

Canyon Lake Dam has a viewing park that shouldn't be missed. You can walk out on the Dam and catch views of people fishing, walking, and just enjoying Canyon Lake. There is a information center just up the hill from the parking area, but we didn't go there. Met several folks also enjoying the views from on top of the Dam. Next time I go, I will take the grandchildren--we've been camping on FM 306 many times, but I've never taken them to see the Dam. You can picnic, walk down to the lake, jog, swim, dive, or just soak in the scenery. I understand the small-mouth bass like to hang out just below the Dam.

We went for an evening walk across the dam tonight. It was dam beautiful!! The breeze was perfect. We sat along the edge as the sun went down and strolled our way back before the sun went completely down. The park closes at sunset but I would recommend visiting early in the morning or for sunset. The heat of summer would be HOT up there and the winter breeze would be pretty cold but we will come back this fall to enjoy this experience again with the dogs. Maybe we will come a little earlier to enjoy more of the actual park as well.
We saw children of all ages and a few people with leashed dogs. P.S. Bring bags to pick up after your pet!

Trails are not marked and it can be challenging going down to the lake and back, climbing rocks. The path above the lake and dam is paved and wide so very nice for walking or running, out and back. Beautiful views! Plenty of parking!

This place is just beautiful, We found it out of luck while looking for a grocery store. So glad that I was able to experience the Over Look with my family. Took lots of pictures to show back home. Loved it

Easy drive to the dam headquarters with picnic area, etc.
The restrooms are filthy, so plan to leave the overlook area for facilities.

This is the Overlook Park.
In February they havel eaves.
However we came to see the Overlook Park.
The Canyon Lake was huge.
Some take a boat for fun!
We enjoyed the Canyon Lake.
There were many people looking at the Canyon Lake.
We had fun! Truly beautiful!

we seen this lake for the first time this year and never knew there was such a beautiful place to swim like this in Texas! we have been many times since July and am looking forward to next summer now that we know about this amazing place!!! a gorgeous sight to see especially near sunset!

Overlook Park has a great view of the lake, and a path down to the lake for swimming. Also, there are hiking trails around the lake which were fun to walk around on.

Fun to walk across the dam and catch a rock squirrel on your path! The lake views are sensational! We loved the views!

Beautiful view, nice park. Benches to enjoy the scenery. .8 mile walk across the dam. Head down to the lake and go swimming.

Don't miss this beautiful lake view. Wear walking shoes and of it's summer, go early or late, to avoid the sun. Only a little shade available. Best of all, it's free...

This is a nice place to view the Dam and the lake. Not the greatest place to swim, but you can at your own risk. It is really pretty at sunrise and sunset.

Nice place to walk the dam. Can be crowded on the weekends. Some trails to get down to the lake. Restrooms in the back parking area.

What a view! I was able to walk on the dam and get some very beautiful pictures of the lake. If in the area, it is worth stopping by and snapping a picture!

We always come to walk and look over the lake from this site.
Lake was down 21 feet. It is free. Great view.

Enjoying the beautifully warm weather we ventured over to Canyon Lake. This is a beautiful lake and we were able to walk across the dam and back.

This is our favorite place to walk with new visitors to the lake. Great view of the lake and river below the dam.

Walk the almost mile long dam. Take photos of beautiful sunsets. Hike down to the lake shore to swim or set under the oaks.

Wonderful view and great place to take a swim. Lake is so clear and clean. Great trails and parking.
Nice view of Canyon Lake
There are some benches where you can sit and look at the lake. There is a path down to lake where there are BIG rocks to sit on and look at lake. Think there are some paths you can walk as well. Very pretty spot.
