This park is one of the coldest I've visited in this area. Otherwise, it is fine, but the cold wind keeps me away most of the time. It is clean and has covered tables, etc. so would love to go there more often but would take a very hot day.

Next to Embassy Suites and a very nice beach. Great for picnicking and swimming. If you get hungry or want a stiff drink the Embassy Suites has a bar and restaurant. Clean restrooms and picnic tables. There is a charge for parking.

By Ojainel |

Too crowded for me. With so much open beach all around, why go with the crowds?

By Nancy S |

In our short walk on the beach, we saw 4 dead birds, and thousands of dead crabs in the surf. and a seagull who was acting very strangely. Our hotel had a sign saying -- wipe the TAR off your feet -- after walking on the beach. Whats up? What's happening here? We were surprised --- we did have TAR on our feet.

We briedly visited this beach area but the weather wasn't inviting so our visit was not as enjoyable as it might have been under different weather conditions. We'll have to return in warmer times, to stay longer, and really have the inclination to experience more.

By worldtraveler267 |

This is a good beach and it's one of my favorites. It's long and perfect for walks along the coast. Some areas are more popular and others have fewer people, but it's a nice beach overall.

By Enrique L |

My family loves going to this park. My kids call it the Pirate Park because of its playground theme. I particularly enjoy the playground area due to there being NO sand. The have a soft foam rubber ground instead, which is much less messy. However, if you don't mind sand, the vast green grass park practically sits right on the beach. The walkway around the park separates the grass from the sand. The park is vast enough to play games/sports on the grass, have parties or picnics. It's simply a fun place.

By Carlin35 |

Lots of parking. Great place for kids with associated play yard equipment. Expansive grass area. Nice place to walk with wide sidewalks. Very clean and well maintained. You can walk to the beach in a sidewalk. Good for those who need assistance in walking. Nice to watch the waves come and the surfers on a windy day. Restrooms available.

A romantic stroll along a SoCal beach can present problems — crowds, filthy water, trash-strewn beaches and expensive parking.
But Hollywood Beach in Oxnard is the perfect place for a surfside stroll — without any of the downsides of other beaches.

At the shoreline, the sand is clean, flat and smooth, without rock outcroppings or other obstacles. Scan the ocean for occasional dolphins or sea lions.

Free parking is available on side streets a short walk from the beach. The waves aren’t usually very big but they do draw some surfers. For swimmers, water temps are on the chilly side but are refreshing on a hot summer day.

A few eateries, including the Hollywood Beach Cafe, are a short walk from the beach.
Ocean Drive parallels the coastline, so park on one of the cross streets.

Hollywood Beach is a hidden gem and one of the best beaches in Southern California.

This is a smaller quiet beach area. If you're looking for some down time, this is the beach area for Oxnard. It's not a bad spot to find a rental nearby. Not far away from attractions. Major freeway easy to get
to.

By Delia D |

This was such a beautiful beach. It was not crowded at all. The sunsets were breathtaking. There was a log of some sort that had washed up on the beach which made a comfortable spot to sit on to watch the sunset. The photos are a little foggy looking because we went when there was a wildfire nearby. That didn't stop us though!

By Debbie K |

Where else can you have a big beautiful grass park to have a special party our BBQ on a beach with wheelchair access, one of the largest stretches of sand with dunes and a walking path for you and your furry kid? The Bomb!

By Lisa P |

Fun place to get your toes in the sand. I brought a take-out lunch. Plenty of picnic tables. Fun to watch the surfers.

By Marco V |

Very clean and welcoming beach. In sunny days you can enjoy the weather with your friends and have fun in the ocean

By oneeddy1 |

big play area for kids. not as many tourists than up north or down south. when u walk to beach, showers and restrooms. u do have to pay to park. i wouldnt go back on holidays, due to parking extremely limited and many tickets and tows possible. outside of that, my kids really like coming here

By Renee002 |

Nice to take a walk and look at birds and people and waves!

By FAKOOO |

Beautifully maintained City Park with large playground for kiddies (Pirate ship and many other swings, slides etc. Besides many nicely maintained picnic tables with BBQ's and a short 200 yard walk you are on the sand with a paved walking, biking path on the beach with many benches to rest and take in the beautiful ocean view of the Channel Islands (Anacapa & Santa Cruz Islands). The beach walk is handicap accessible. You will enjoy it!

By drwsurf |

we were here in October during the week and there were very few people on the beach though many walking on the walkway and biking also. The beach was very clean, quiet and wide. Great place for a picnic or a swim or a day reading a book and watching the ocean.

By LaNita W |

My Cali fam setup a beautiful "retreat" for an afternoon at the beach. We enjoyed several activities such as volleyball, kite flying, a catered lunch, photography, and of course, the beach!

By klbinco |

Took our wheelchair-bound nephew to this park and it was perfect. We were able to push him right out on the sand. Had to carry him a bit closer so we could be close to the water to watch the little ones play, but we loved it. Clean, nice people there. Nearby bathrooms. GREAT!

By Mommy D |

Quite a distance from beach water to parking but they have clean bathrooms and sidewalks. It was so nice, tons of room. Where I was, there were no life guards.

By sakland |

It was ok. Not crowded at all. However, the beach was a little dirty. Overall, ok.Saw some dolphins though which was great for our kids to see.

By john r |

Beautiful beach area. Limited parking with many visitors. Family friendly. Cool weather most of the time except during part of the summer.

By Traci H |

Nice big beach. No crowds. Nice sand and lifeguards. Bathrooms at some locations. Free parking. No seaweed! Only downfall is no outdoor showers to wash off and strong undercurrent in ocean. Would come again for sure!

By Helen H |

The sand is nice and soft. It is quite isolated. Can take a dog for a walk on the beach. It is fantastic!

By as4beatles |

How do you rate a beach and park? It's got great waves and nice trees? Well, this park is great. It's clean, right next to the beach and the Embassy Suites. The park is large enough for picnics, BBQs and games with the family and friends. There are paths for biking and roller skating. The parking is plentiful. It's also near Channel Islands Harbor which has some great places to eat. When the weather is triple digits in other areas, about an hour away, Oxnard is usually 72.

By gary c |

I stopped by the park today between jobs! The water was excellent and the views were suburb. Because of El-Nino the waves were very high and powerful... I got some great video of that but did not take a boat out to see the grey whales so I missed it, even though they are there now!!!!!.....migrating!!!!!!

By kristinrye |

While there is not a lot do do in Oxnard compared to other beach towns, if you just want a nice beach, Oxnard is top shelf. The sand is soft and almost fluffy. The waves are pretty consultant and are big enough to to some decent surfing or good boogie boarding. If you go out past the surf breakpoint, paddle boarding is also quite pleasant. However, the best part is that in the middle of July, on the weekend, when the weather is perfect, it is fairly vacant. We spent the week on the beach and were pleasantly surprised by the lack of crowds and bustle.

By EvelynSpeaks |

Nice beach but be careful as you get closer to the water the sand dips and this causes the waves to crash in,

By Dan R |

Oxnard beach is one of the best kept secrets in California. I hope we can keep it that way. The beach is never crowded, never dirty. Sunsets are fabulous ... just remember, when the sun goes down it gets cold. In fact, it can be pretty chilly anytime. Bring a sweater and get ready to walk a beach that extends three miles that hardly anyone uses.

By Mariselda J |

It's very private and relaxing. There are a few people walking around, but it is really nice.

By Jim L |

This is a beautiful local beach with minimal facilities but great for families. It has restrooms, paid parking and is a good hike to the ocean...some swings and climbing apparatus and playing field.

By KTOBRYAN |

Beautiful beach. We just walked and enjoyed. Benches and sidewalks. Good kids playground. Kids seemed to be enjoying.
Park was clean, garbage emptied!

By kicaikai |

I love going to Oxnard state beach because it’s less crowded and much nicer beach compared to Venice, Malibu, Huntington, etc... It’s like going to a private beach without having to pay for entrance and parking.

By csscott1023 |

We walked this spectacular beach! Totally empty! The homes are right on the beach! No one around! Beautiful!

By raymondj990 |

The Beach offers excellent views of the Channel Islands! You might even see a migrating whale or a dolphin pod! Clean beaches well patrolled unfortunately no free parking!

By retire03 |

in Southern California is Hollywood Beach in Oxnard. It is a very broad beach and basically very clean. If you want your solitude while contemplating the waves and don't especially want to brush shoulders with others, this is the place to come to. I hardly ever see more than a dozen or so other beach lovers at "OUR" beach. Of course, during the "beach season " you might see a few dozen or more within this beach expanse. There are also benches along paved walk-ways where one can take in some sun and enjoy the waves and the birds and the occasional home-made 2 -seater mini planes as they go by. ......and by the way, Malibu beach has absolutely nothing over Hollywood Beach located in Oxnard's Channel Islands area.

By LosPosas |

Great escape for the day at the beach. Sandy beaches and surf, with a playground added in. Close to Oxnard for quick trip to the beach.

Hope you can enjoy soon.

By martin k |

There is a park next to the mandalay bay resort with a public beach as well. The park has a large playground for kids of all ages and a large picnic area as well as sport area. Beach access is easy.

By Laura M |

Well groomed, great park, free parking, convenient. Quiet, not overcrowded. Truly, can't say enough!

By William B |

One thing about the southern california beaches is that there well cared for. I like places that are safe, clean, and well taken care of. and you never know who you'll meet there.

By PearlCanada |

We've walked a few beaches in our travels, but none as impressive as Oxnard Shores! Loved it! The huge expanse of beach was easy to walk and very clean. Go there!

By Paula M |

This is a great beach. So clean and plenty of room to run wild and build sand castles and have fun. The park was clean also and the playground area was a lot of fun.

By ironmom69 |

This is a great place to bring the family for a picnic. Lots of picnic sites and BBQ's. Huge new playground for the kids and grassy area to play on. Park is right on the beach and has paved walking path.

By JimL_in_SD |

Clean water, wide beach, nice sand. We even saw a number of dolphins swimming back and forth just offshore. The only negative is that sometimes you get some tar on your feet.

By SunDaisy11 |

Lovely, long stretch of sandy beach which is wonderful for an early morning walk or an evening stroll. Because the beach is so long and wide it tends to be less crowded than others. Worth noting that the parking lot closes at dusk although there is plenty of available street parking should you choose to forego the parking lot in order to stay later. If you do watch the sunset, make sure you stick around to watch the stars come out. Beautiful, quiet, mystical.

By Carole D |

Nice park and beach area for flying kites, riding bikes, scooters and walking dogs. Kids playground is great and there are always kids under 12 playing and running. Had my grand kids there today. You won't be sorry. I even saw some Yoga classes going on.

By littleoldlady2015 |

It offers a lark park with benches. you can then walk through the dunes to go and watch the surf breaking. There is also benches available on the beach. There are walk and cycles pathways that take you all the way back towards the harbour. On the Sunday in the park families were ready to picnic and play soccer. On the beach you might even see a microlight.pass over head. There are toilets avaible.

By Deanna S |

Our room was okay not the best location for our room however the hotel is very close to the beach and beach stores. Stayed at worst and better hotels.

By Kayleigh M |

This place is so clean and people have really looked after it to ensure others can enjoy. Well worth a visit with some big waves!

By MaceyK |

There are all kinds of tables and overhead protection. Even so, it is difficult to find a spot because this place is so well used. There are many parking spots also.
It i s just a small hike over the sand dune to the beach with a wonderful view of the Channel Islands.

By sunburnt_curt |

My wife and I spent a Friday afternoon on this beach. The section of the beach we were on wasn’t overly busy because it was before 4pm on Friday, but there weren't any lifeguards in the area so that might have caused fewer people to hang out there. I saw a lot more people farther north on the beach. The sand was nice and clean where we were at.

Parking at the time we were there wasn't a problem. We seemed to have found a smaller parking lot towards the end of the beach rather than a more central one. Parking was free, but the downside is that because we were on the end of the beach, it was a long walk to the bathroom towards the middle of the beach.

There were decent size waves but without lifeguards in that area, I wouldn't be inclined to let kids get too far into the surf.

By leigh4455 |

This beach was right outside our hotel. It was clean, quiet and full of active people taking advantage of all the bike path along the water. There was a free yoga group having a session too.

By LaTreece B |

Just the beginning of this month I was out at the beach with a few of my friends we had a little picnic talking reminiscing having a good time enjoying the waves if you're not from Southern California come make State Beach a place to visit

By Nikki S |

I visited here on a Saturday morning/afternoon. It was super quiet and peaceful. The beach was clean and had plenty of trash cans and benches.

By Susie532 |

Took our 7 grandchildren here. All had a great time. They aged from 15 to 6. Clean beach, great grass area and wonderful pirateship play area. Parking was easy and at only $5 was a bargan. Will diffinitly make this a stop the next time we are visiting the area.

By ablancarte71 |

small city but I love to come here since my mother and my father worked here for 40 years.
no much to see except going to Los Angeles

By erikkieser |

One of my favorite beaches in this area. Usually not crowded. Good walking and thinking beach, great place to put a towel down and read or just watch the ocean.

By lovecomfort |

This is not exactly Oxnard State Beach, but close by. One of the best kept secrets in California is the beautiful wide beach in Oxnard near Port Hueneme called Silverstrand Beach. On any given holiday the hundred yard wide beach is often nearly empty, simply because people don't really know about it. They just don't think of Oxnard when they think of beach, but this attraction is absolutely pristine and lovely. There is a yacht harbor nearby and another stretch of beach on the other side of the harbor called Hollywood Beach. Both strips of beach have houses for rent both right on the beach and across the street from the beach. You can find a house for rent by googling "Silverstrand Beach houses for rent" or going to Coldwell Banker site which handles a lot of the rentals. There are also hotels nearby such as Embassy Suites Channel Island Harbor. The latter is wonderful for families. In the Hollywood Beach area there is a Sunday farmers market, boat rides, and at least one really good restaurant which serves Brazilian Food. We go to Silverstrand almost every summer. A wonderful gem of a place.

By Dolores F |

Worth beach park to visit. They have a $10 entrance fee to go in. Pretty beach. I was surprised that it was not crowded on a holiday weekend.

By Cindy W |

This park has a great playground for kids 12 and under. With two large structures for the kids to play on with protective flooring. Also has two swing sets and other fun toys for the kids to play on. For me and other parents or grandparents plunty of benches around the playground area. Great cooking areas that can be reserved for large parties and several smaller ones on a first come bases. Very large and open area park with areas big enough for flag football, soccor and volleyball sand pit areas. Restrooms are locked up at 6pm which was a bummer for some. The park is right by the beech and easy walking distance. There was a couple of venders sailing ice cream and kids toys. Overall nice place to visit. One more thing they have a walking path and a separate bike paths going around the park.

By NewYorker12 |

Waves are huge which is great if that's the action you want. The beach is not sand, but rather small pebbles or stones.

By Yehbut |

We found this cool beach park near The Oxnard Marina. This place is great for walking your dog. Located very close to the beach you can walk right threw the park to the beach. There are walking pathways in and around the neighborhood and park. They have a outdoor playground for small kids. Not ever crowded at all. We love this place. Nice clean park with the beach a few steps away!

By oxnarddragonlady |

Oxnard State Beach is one of the best beaches in Southern California. The beach is huge - very deep with soft white sand - and hardly any visitors. There are bathroom facilities so spending the day is easy. The park behind the beach has green grass, picnic facilities and a playground - but in my opinion, with the beach so close - why spend the time here? Actually, it is a great place to eat, with picnic tables making it easier for a meal. On holidays many families spend the day, so come early if that is the only day you can visit. Most other days, not many people use the area, so you can have it mostly to yourself. It is also a great place to fly kites, and you can often see them soaring towards the clouds. The one draw back - cold water that plagues California. But, generally the waves are not to strong and there is a gentle slope, so those who want to brave the water, and many do, can do so safely. A perfect place to get your toes in the sand and the sun on your shoulders.

By Sean O |

I needed that sand dune, more that it needed me. Beautiful well manicured park, plentiful parking, clean, facilities. We walked out on the beach it was clear and warm in the sun. I sat against a dune and watched the water lap onto the beach. WOW nature, it can be so cleansing. Check this park out and hit up the beach :) Hopefully you have a moment like I had.

By William E |

My wife and I walk every day. Starting at the park there is a wide walkway all the way to the harbor (about a mile). Very pleasant walk. The walkway and the park are in a good clean safe area. Both are well lite in the evening. The beach is clean and well kept and has play ground equipment for kids. A nice touch to add to a walk on the beach is is a few sand dunes. Not very high but fun to climb, especially for kids. The sunset is a beautiful site. My wife was disappointed because there were no complete shells to pick up. She does this at every beach we go to. Yes, she brings them all home too. This beach has the feel of a private beach because it is lined by a hotel/timeshare type area. Not many access areas and limited parking. I am sure it will be more crowded in the summer season, but if you go even in good weather in the spring (80 degrees) it still is not crowded. We stayed in a time share for a week and will definitely return.

By Cory K |

Oxnard State Beach and Park is beautiful in every sense of the word. Very clean, safe, ample parking. Views are astounding.

By SLFEG |

The beach across from the Embassy Suites has a light crowd and fun waves. It was a little rocky in the water, but the sand was perfect.

By Larry-L0v3 |

Came here with the family. This place is real nice as beaches goes. Like all Southern California Beaches the water is cold and the waves can be HUGE! Not the best place for little kids as it also get deep pretty quick. The park is awesome as well. Kids loved it.

By Fred1021 |

We have been to this beach on several occasions and we have noticed that this place seldom gets a big crowd. There were sand dunes and the sand was smooth. The beach was relatively clean during our visits. There's a very well kept and well-manicured park where people can play outdoor games while having a picnic. The park charges a small parking fee of $1 for every hour of stay.

By Ryan K |

Good place to escape, great beach, pier and walk. Pity the parking not cheaper for short visits. Always busy with people and families... Nice fresh air...

By patriotic |

Loved this little beachfront park. It is very clean and pretty. It has a nice playground and lots of areas for picnics and grilling.

By Jack P |

Took our 2 year old Grandson to the park from MSResort. People still smile, even say hi . And the Park is beautiful even with a drought. Seven BIG BUSES were in queu. In the park. A huge assemby of college age students were lining up for a BIG BBQ get together. Like I said I felt like I was in Heaven. I've felt this way before and recognize the feeling and try to ask questions. Hi , what group is this ,where are you from. Smiles ,we are Masters College Santa Clarita. Very pleasant , Great kids ! From their we hit the cement path to the beach...Beautiful. Memory Bench Lane AWESOME. THE DUNES !! Wonderful afternoon ! got back to Neptune Sq. Mandaly Shore Resort asked my son in law , who's Master's College? An Incredible religious school with VERY strong athletics. Took my wife to the OSB& Park. She had the same vibe !

By Ryan A |

This State Beach Park was great, not that many people coz of Covid probably, but it was good, it had a bike lane, and lots of picnic tables, nice place to relax...

By Daniel A |

The first thing you’ll notice besides the ocean, which is in the far back behind the park, is the beautifully lined palm trees. This park has everything you can imagine, baseball field, volleyball areas, shaded bbq areas, unshaded bbq areas, very nice grass, a little marsh and then after a short walk you have a very clean white sand beach. Who can ask for anything more? Oh really no food so you have to bring your own food or buy some vending snacks and drinks.

By Boricua1 |

Great to go for a beach walk. Very close to downtown Oxnard. Pay for parking, but rate was cheap when I was there on a weekday.

By Mark H |

Beautiful palm lined park offers parking, picnic areas, volley ball courts, beach side walk way, and restrooms. The beach access is across a broad sandy beach to the ocean. Crowds are non existent and a variety of sea birds and even dolphins may be spotted. There are no life guards at this beach and rip tide warnings are posted. Just to the south, Hollywood beach has on duty life guards. Be prepared to deal with inevitable tar on your feed if you head to the high tide line.

By Deana H |

On a recent visit to Oxnard we found ourselves in need of a beach fix. We were staying at the nearby Hampton Inn and were directed by the hotel staff to head here for our fix. It was a wonderful suggestion. We were very surprised at how clean the beach was. It was also a surprise at how long it was, at least a mile of undisturbed beach front. A definite great location to bring your family or for a romantic stroll with a loved one.

By Philrum |

The park is well kept with walking paths and lots or grassy places for kids to play and adults to practice Yoga. You have a park connected to the beach. The best of both worlds.

By Robin B |

Good to go and see the natural surroundings of the area and the wildlife. Sand dunes, and various waterfowl can be seen. Once I walked past a kite hawk at close range, early in the morning.

By Debra D |

Went there with my sisters visiting another sister we hadn't seen in years. A great place to have a reunion.

By Ken J |

Nice place to play on a long beach and swim. This beach and Silverstrand are beaches that families will enjoy.

By rwheeler |

This park has a lot to offer from a large grassy area to the beach within walking distance. The playground is great fun for kids of all ages. The bathrooms were clean and they had a great BBQ pit that was locked up but I'm sure could be rented for large parties.

On the downside parking does cost but it is doable at one dollar per hour.

By John J |

I know what you are thinking, how nice would a state park be? Five dollars to park (beach was free) and we found the Oxnard beach; very wide, miles long and water a nice blue green. Very clean beach. Dogs are allowed. No vendors or restaurants or hotels on the beach. Several houses and condos at stretches. The lightly yellow sand had a fine gravel feel to it, and the waves tended to break close to the beach, so it created a quick drop off. The water temperature was cool, but not really cold. All similar to how I remember Oahu in Hawaii, other than much wider. Restrooms are available at the park, prior to walking to the beach. Park itself is very nice, large, family friendly, grills to cook, softball, volleyball, Frisbee, etc. Tables must be reserved in advance.

By OnVacationGirl |

Beach and facilities clean, well maintained and peaceful. No crowds. Parking 1.00 per hour or 5.00 per day.

By explorer |

Very nice weather and the seals in marina were very cute. Food was good and we enjoy the view as well when we were eating. The Olołkoy Beach Park is very big and nice too, highly recomnded

By mikki777 |

Go to Oxnard State Beach if you don't mind paying for parking, want to have a more traditional location with picnic areas / bbq's and bathrooms. But expect crowds. If you want to be off the beaten path and away from crowds, go further sound down Harbor Blvd. to Hollywood Beach. It's hard to tell where that is though.... (I don't think I saw a sign that said that name. But it was on our map) The Welcome Center guy told us about it. There is only one bathroom facility on the North side of the beach. Which we found that part first so we could park as close to there as possible. And the street that leads to the bathroom is called Le Brea. On the other side of Harbor is Channel Islands Harbor which is pretty. We were fortunate enough to find a spot right on Le Brea but I think that was unusual for a Sunday on a holiday weekend. The beach is quiet.

By Robert R |

This park has a lovely setting for people who would love to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather and Ventura county.

By James H |

We visited Oxnard and strolled the beach. It is clean and very inviting for families. Not crowded and provides room for the kids to roam. Sandy with some rocky areas but the views are terrific.
A very good place to spend the day or walk the beach with someone special.

By barkus1968 |

Nice walk to the beach. There were just too many options friendly official signs. I especially didn’t like the threat of locking my car in the parking lot at dusk. It’s very arbitrary.

By SusieRussell |

Nice beach and park. We really enjoyed walking around, always love the ocean and it was a beautiful day.

By Quest307135 |

This is a very beautiful park with ample amenities. The beach is huge and the views are awesome. Parking fees are reasonable at $1/hr or $5/day.

By Vacationmom132014 |

This park leads you right to the beach. There is plenty of room for a picnic, playground for the kids, beach volleyball court, large bike riding/jogging path. All paths lead to the beach.
Parking can be difficult.

By David |

Oxnard State Beach Park is between the Oxnard Shores neighborhood and the Embassy Suites hotel; it's a great place for a walk or BBQ. It can get crowded on weekends, especially holidays.
There are clean restrooms and volleyball courts. There is a large children's playground.
It is also the home of Yoga by the Sea, available at 9.30AM and 5.30PM most days.

By culturelink |

This is a nice beach park. There are sand dunes, a long stretch of nice, not so crowded beach, and a park with picnic areas. I took my aging parents there, and it wasn't easy to get around since it was a long way from the park to the actual water, but it was clean, beautiful, not so many people, etc. My kids loved it. There's a resort nearby where you can rent bicycles.

By on_the_go_98765 |

There is no physical division line separating the 3 beaches and Oxnard Beach provides a nice long expanse for a pleasurable walk on the beach. Mandalay Beach (on one end) is characterized by the Power Plant stacks while Hollywood Beach (at the other end) is defined by the proximity to the Harbor. TA does provide for reviews of all 3 beaches so (for simplicity's sake) this review covers the central, most beautiful stretch of beach bordered by the grassy park, Embassy Suites hotel complex, and the walking paths therein. More or less.

During our week long stay on Oxnard Beach, we walked beach regularly and the sunsets were particularly spectacular. The storms blowing through made for impressive sunset reflections off of those clouds.

Daytime walks near the park followed a path lined with benches and the memorials they bore in honor of loved ones. Dogs chased frisbees with their human partners, children played in the park's grass, and the rugged beauty of the green growing among the towering heights of the sand dunes underscored a perfectly executed artistic rendering by Mother Nature.

The beach is huge both in length and breadth. It never feels crowded but, hey, this is January after all and not all of us have Polar Bear in our ancestral genes. Viking maybe ...

By polobear99 |

Beautiful park and easy walk to the beach. Lots of age appropriate playground equipment for kids and not super crowded like the southern beaches. Parking will cost you but is worth it.

By teachkindy |

This beach is rarely crowded, so it's a nice beach to go to with young kids. There are plenty of restaurants in the area to go to after a visit. The weather is usually on the chillier side at this beach, but it's clean and safe during the day.

By worldtraveler267 |

This beach is very well kept and is clean. The sand is soft and feels very good when you walk on it. It is very long and you can easily spend hours on it. The ocean is also very nice at this beach and is at a nice, cool temperature.

By Flamenquera |

I found a pretty quiet and secluded beach. hardly anyone at this beach and made it perfect for meditation and watching the sunset.

By jrzj42 |

Good beach to hang-out and get a tan. Not certain of the water is always safe to enter, as there is a waste water treatment facility and small power production plant nearby.

By RonA_Plymouth |

We came here to find a spot to have lunch in our RV, quite beach and nicely busy park. Locals were playing sport and setting up tents for barbeques etc. Great facilities.

By LuisaSul |

We leave in Ventura, but we love to go often to Oxnard State Beach and Park, for a after work walk along the the beautiful paved pathway just along the beach. The sunsets here are beautiful, you can see the sun going into the water. It's very nicely landscaped, safe, serene and the beach is so long and large and it is possible to see the entire coast.
Also, spectacular spot to do yoga by the water.

By dalugoz |

Nice place for a walk and restaurants near by. There are different activities through out the year in the Oxnard area so plan accordingly.

By flexibleflier |

I didn't visit the park area but the actual beach is beautiful. We parked at the corner of Mandalay Beach Rd and W 5th St which is practically on the sand. It's the northern most point of the beach if you are in to long walks. As a reference point, I walked about 2 miles south and ended up going past Oxnard Beach Park and the Embassy Suites Resort before turning around. (Beach kept going for what looked like forever!)

The high points are beautiful blue water, perfect size waves, clean sand, and no rocks or seaweed. I was there on a Sunday in May and it was not crowded at all.

One word of advice: Wear aqua shoes. Like all SoCal beaches, there's a good chance you will step in tar. (It's invisible until it's on the bottom of your feet.) Also, sections of this beach can be quite gravely and therefore, harsh on bare feet.

I like to do a morning walk around this park each morning as the sun is rising and it is quiet. It is also a great place to catch the sunset as it sets behind the Channel Islands. There are lots of benches to stop and sit on, both at the park and on the back side of the sand dunes. This is such a unique, relaxing spot to watch the waves and destress.

Easy access from Harbor Blvd. Close to beach park with handicap access. Not crowded. No lifeguards. West facing with great views of the Santa Barbara Channel and the Channel Islands but quite windy much of year. Spectacular sunsets.

On our last day of vacation we found this beach. I wish we would have skipped Santa Monica beach and just spent the day here. Quiet and clean for our family to unwind and take in the ocean views. We walked up and down the beach dodging the waves. Best way to wrap up a vacation on a high note.

We went out to Oxnard Beach to explore the Pacific Ocean for a few hours. The beach was clean, beautiful and breezy. We put our feet in the water and took a few photos! The palm trees are everywhere and beautiful! Quite an experience!:-)

We were visiting Santa Barbara at the end of July/14, rented a car & explored different beaches in the area. With two kids aged 6yrs & 4yrs old we headed for Oxnard State Beach Park. There is a very nice playground area which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. The beach was very nice, it was quite windy the day we went so the waves were a little bit intimidating for the kids. The only down side was the visible garbage on the beach, I wish people would pick up after themselves. otherwise we had a great time.

Just oK, wouldn't recommend. It was dirty, people don't throw their trash in the trash bins. Smells of fish and seaweed.

Great visit and the water was cold. No one was around as it was a Tuesday morning. Very peaceful way to start out the morning with a walk on the beach

We went to Oxnard Beach Park to bring our 2 dogs and we had a great time playing in the sand. I took my elderly dad as well who brought his wheelchair and the beach is wheelchair accessible, so that was so nice! Us two and the 2 dogs had a nice time. Parking was about $1 per hour.

Just to walk around, play with your kids, have your yoga or just be. Here is very peaceful on working days and more lively on weekends.

The Oxnard Beach is a picture perfect California beach of postcards with its expanse of wide white sand and blue waterline. Beach is free, but parking has a reasonable fee. Bathrooms on the beach. Pleasant place. ...

Beach was very clean and convenient. Couldn't swim as weather was too cold, but we waded and the water was clean. Want to go back when warmer.
