My husband and I saw Mamma Mia at the Solvang venue. What a fun evening. The cast was fabulous. Thanks for a beautiful evening out.

Recently saw Newsies outdoors in Solvang. A beautiful outdoor setting with incredibly good acting. If you're passing through and need a great evening's worth of entertainment, this is it.

I live.three hours away from Solvang but made the trip to see Beauty and the Beast last week. Was it worth the drive? Absolutely -- a million times. The production was the best small venue live theater I have ever attended and trust me, I have attended many. Wonderful acting, costumes and singing for a delightful wonderful evening. Thank you, PCPA for giving me an evening I will never forget!

This is our eighth season of performances at the PCPA Theaterfest. This seasons plays were fantastic- 39 Steps, Hairspray, and My Fairytale were great. I had a smile on my face throughout each performance. The U.S. Premier of the Hans Christian Andersen story "My Fairytale" continues through September 25, 2011. If you have an opportunity to see it.... Go!

Where else can you get a great view anywhere in the house for under $35, with first class talent, sets, costumes and lighting! Thanks to Actors Equity, you will recognize many of the performers who have been in major productions!

Take advantage of the various Theaterfest packages that are available in Solvang. We stay at the Wine Valley Inn and get a room, breakfast, a bottle of wine, and 2 great seats for the Theaterfest for $159 (that is for two people). It is a great deal, and we hope they offer the same deal for the 2012 Season (Wine Valley in is a great Boutique Hotel). There are other nice Hotels in Solvang, but for our money, the Wine Valley Inn offers the best value and service as well as completely upgraded rooms.

What an amazing production! As a fan of "The Grapes of Wrath" and having spent time around Salinas, and the whole valley down to Bakersfield, this was an awesome story line! It was so well supported by professional and truly delicious acting! The set was lovely and provided the perfect support for the story and the amazing actors/actresses who made it come alive!

We live in Solvang and this is our 2nd year of season tickets. The productions have been wonderful, the tickets are affordable, the theatre design is friendly and intimate. None bad seats in the house. Great fun, bring warm clothes as temperature drops once sun sets.

By 123tamit |

Charming outdoor theatre. All seats are great. More than anything I enjoyed the cast. Four talented young men. Show is filled with humor and upbeat 50's / 60's music to enjoy by all. Excellent choreography . Don't miss out on this great production! You won't be disappointed .

Attended pre-opening and cast did a splendid job...thoroughly enjoyed Los Patricios! I'd have to be a nit-picker to complain!

By Theresa S |

WOW! We thoroughly enjoyed this outstanding production of The Sound of Music!! A must see for all ages! The Central Coast is so fortunate to have PCPA! They put on the best productions and it's a great value for top notch, live theater.

By Olywajdock |

We have been to 4 different productions and each one has been amazing!. The seating is wonderful in both theatres with a very initimate feel. The staging, lighting and sets are very well done and all seats are comfortable. The configuration of the theatre is nice so can see well from any location. The acoustics in the Marian theatre have been wonderful for the musicians we attended. The cast for all three have been excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our attendance. You won't be disappointed!

I worked for this traveling show. It Is a great musical. The new cast is better than the previous old cast of 2 years time! I guarantee will love it!!!

By Italianfirely |

All their plays are excellent. We saw the whole season. Great acting, beautiful set & costume design—a very professional theater. One of the best things about living in Santa Maria.

By Marlena D |

This show is excellent. Very funny and entertaining. The cast was outstanding. Great show for all to see.

By Yolanda M |

PCPA is good entertainment. Actors are great, plays are entertaining. Seating is comfortable and the venue is not very large.

By Marlena920 |

The PCPA did a fantastic performance in Man of LaMancha.
It was very entertaining and the show performers were professional.
Just fantastic

By stanh616 |

Every production we have seen has been tremendous. The professionalism of the actors and all the support staff is uncompromising. This is a great venue for all local and visiting guests. Pick your play and be prepared to be entertained.

PCPA has produced many professional actors, designers, etc and the productions are almost always perfect. I've been attending the shows more than 30 years - and always excellent! Youthful enthusiasm & quality performances make for special event. Tickets are very reasonable but sell out for musicals. Highly recommended!!!

By Tom J |

Top notch entertainment. For a small community, they rival the big Broadway productions. I have seen both. This is good .

By ajfeather |

Had a totally awesome family visit to see Mamma Mia in Solvang. Great to be in an outdoor venue. Performance and setting were first class.

By Linda M |

I have had season tickets for two years now and I haven't seen a bad performance yet. The students and instructors, who make up a sort of repertory company, are talented, professional and always a delight. Do you love musicals? You're in luck, they produce several each season, including some original ones. I highly recommend them to residents and visitors alike.

By GeoSpock2 |

The best value for my money I've had in a mighty long time. Great venue, Great performance, Great location. We saw the Hans Christian Andersen story "My Fairytale" and enjoyed every minute.

By kayak4kris10 |

My love for the productions done by PCPA apply to both PCPA on the Alan Hancock College Campus and the Solvang venue. Both with outstanding acting, sets, and twists and turns; pure pleasure. As I highlight the next section, it applies only to the outdoor Solvang Festival Theater. As the sun sets, and the crickets begin a chirping chorus, you feel as if you've been transported to a magical place. There are no poor seats for seeing it all, and remember to bring a blanket. If you forget yours, no worries, you can rent one at a nominal price. If you've been out tasting the wines of the valley, you are welcome to come early and bring your own picnic and wine supper basket. A local school has a fundraising snack bar complete with cocoa and coffee.
Even with all those extras as a distraction to the focus for attending PCPA, the acting, sound, and sets provide an outstanding theatrical experience!

The outdoor theater in Solvang is not to be missed. Shrek was incredible. If you have an opportunity to see a show here, you will not be disappointed.

By ailee |

We bought a 2d home in Santa Ynez and finally got around to trying the Solvang Festival Theater with a PCPA production of "Lend Me A Tenor." I have to admit that we had lowered our expectations, figuring a small Central Coast theater would only be able to put on a modest production with 2nd tier talent. Boy, were we wrong! Such a pleasant surprise to see high quality sets, costumes and most important, TALENT! The show was wildly entertaining and it is so easy to see a show there - no hassle parking, etc. The theater itself is adorable and provides a large assortment of snacks and beverages, as well as seat cushion and blanket rentals for chilly nights. The ticket pricing was also budget friendly. Since we are spending more and more time in the beautiful Central Coast wine country, we are thrilled to know we can get a theater fix in on near par to the Ahmanson and Pantages theaters in LA. Highly recommend for locals and tourists alike, especially since evening entertainment options are limited in the Valley. Kudos to PCPA!

By Steve R |

I tend to do live theater a lot. A lot for people that live in the "Central Coast" region, anyways. I've been to PCPA shows with regularity for at least 6 years. Not all the shows, but at least 3 per year, usually more.

That being the case ... and having seen shows in LA, SF, Ashland, etc., I can say that this place is far far better than any "regional" company I've been to.

It is hard to see a bad show at PCPA ... most are really good. I would suggest seeing one of their "popular" shows (like those at Xmastime), one of their Summer performances outside in Solvang (really a worthwhile experience in it's own right) and also a show in March in the Severson Theater which give you a really up-close opportunity to see all the action and drama.

By sjharman4 |

Attended "Beauty and the Beast" while on vacation in California. It was a beautiful, comfortable outdoor venue with all seats having a great view. It was top-notch in every way: the actors, singing, sets, everything. Highly recommend.

By SanDiegobound2012 |

PCPA continues it's excellent directing, choreography, costuming, acting and singing with Cinderella. The show was humorous (oh, that stepsister!), had a point which I don't ever remember any other Cinderella bringing out, and magical (oh that twirl!!) Every voice was pure joy for my listening pleasure.

By bjl22 |

Watching a play under the stars in an amphitheater of this quality is very enjoyable! Literally every seat in the house provides an excellent view!

Staff was friendly and helpful.

The "stars" of the play, (My Fair Lady) were fantastic! Really liked Erik Stein's rendition of Alfred P. Doolittle. He was hilarious!

By sgbslo |

This is a wonderful place to see a show. The PCPA group almost always puts on very well done shows and the Solvang setting is wonderful. You can picnic on the grounds before the show or enjoy a glass of wine in the charming garden. It gets chilly so you'll want to bring a blanket or rent one there.
We recently saw the production of Hairspray and loved it. I saw the original Broadway production and I enjoyed this one just as much.

By MJ93455 |

Wow! What a show!! Been to several performances and they never disappoint me! These actors are amazing, so talented and decided to their profession. Great scenery, sound and lighting. Looking forward to our next play at PCPA!

By troydawson369 |

It's been quite a few years since I've been to the theater in Santa Maria, but I remember it being cozy and a little more intimate than the theater in Solvang. The production and play itself was expertly done, the audio system made it very easy to follow the storyline and I would definitely go again.

By Olywajdock |

This was our first visit to the Marian Theatre. We recently bought a home in the area and the PCPA theatre experience will be one of our favorite nights out. Every seat is great, the acoustics are very nice and should accommodate almost everyone with such a warm intimate feel from any seat. We particulary were interested in seeing "In the Heights". What a fabulous production company excellent in almost every scene. This is a must see for anyone who loves musicals. We hope to see it again before it closes. Thank you PCPA for bringing this show to our area. BRAVO.

By Dee B |

My husband was in one of the first plays that was produced at PCPA. We have enjoyed going to their productions now for about 50 years. I love the musicals the best, but all are worth seeing. If you go to their productions at the Theaterfest in Solvang, be sure to dress warm and take a blanket. But it is great to see their performances at that venue as well.

By 458debbia |

Truly amazing performers - all dance, act, and sing - in the Little Mermaid there was also areal feats straight out of a circus. It was the little details that spark deep appreciation: the costumes and make up, how the characters undulated gracefully in the background (they're underwater creatures) just as the real creatures in the ocean would, the expressions of genuine delight and enjoyment on the actors' faces
These are usually all sold out shows. As pointed out by other reviewers this is a small venue and all the seats are good ones so no worries about trying to get center stage seats. You can see perfectly well from any of the seats. The Solvang outdoor theater really is a wonderful experience - bring cash to put in the baskets held by different characters after the performance which supports the PCPA program.

By Eliz H |

We got the last two tickets and I'm so glad we did! I read about some of the famous graduates of the school of fine arts so thought I'd check it out. I saw a wonderful production of the Tempest. A great break from a long business trip!

By Veturanto |

We usually go to the PAC or the Clark Center for theatre-type entertainment, but we were pleasantly surprised how nice this venue is. The scenery was very good and we were pleased by the quality of the acting. One minor problem was the early time of the performance (7:00). It forced us to eat dinner much earlier than we we are accustomed to. Perhaps this was an unusual occurrence and most plays are later.

By Marcia S |

The venue was beautiful however, Arcadia was a disappointment.
Very difficult to follow and the actors dialog was so fast and not loud enough. Even though the set design was good it never changed. Boring! We left at intermission.

By Paula G |

I love each and every performance this group puts on, especially when it's in Solvang. I used to have season passes to the Pantages in LA when I lived down there. PCPA puts on an almost equal performance. It's good, I tell ya!

By pclarno |

Have visited PCPA theaters in both Solvang and Santa Maria on several occasions, most recently for Man of La Mancha. The high caliber of performance and reasonable ticket prices make for a very enjoyable evening. We've also attended several holiday shows in Santa Maria including both Mary Poppins and Peter Pan with our kids and grandkids. It is a great way to spend time together.

By Theroadwarrior12 |

Attended an opening production of Shrek- the Musical at the Solvang Theaterfest.
This production is not to be missed. Not only is it staged in a gorgeous outdoor theater, but the production is flawlessly professional and first rate. Don't miss it or choose another summer production in this quaint village.

By Ventura001 |

Very Good Show... Excellent Vocals... Very Good Venue... Highly Recommend... Refreshments and light snacks available at intermission. Check the weather. Take - or rent - a blanket and seat cushion if necessary. It can get chilly at night.

By Sue L |

This school attracts the best singer and dancers. No musical has ever disappointed. I go with a group. of friends on Preview Night. Seldom have I heard a faltering or stumbling line. The sets, costuming and dance numbers are faultless. Many of the student performers sing and act at a professional level.
Last night we saw "Brighton Beach Memories". Perfect casting, comedy timing was faultless and the staging and costumes were just right.

By kariedwards |

My husband and I took our 8 yr old twins to see the Christmas play. We love going and giving our children exposure to the arts.

By Kathy R |

Have seen several productions at the PCPA and so far this has been the best.Well, performed. Can't wait to go see it again in Solvang.

By Kathleen O |

"In the Heights" was a fantastic show. So much talent, singing and dancing!! Highly recommend seeing this musical! It's a Tony winning musical!

By Travelaunt58 |

We recently saw Richard III and several months ago saw the Pirates of Penzance at PCPA. We have seen other productions by this company in Santa Maria over the years and have never been let down. Richard III was excellent - Andrew Philpot gives an outstanding performance as always, and other members of the cast were exemplary. If they ever have the Pirates of Penzance again I will take my grandchildren to see it - it was so entertaining and creative. Richard is, of course, for more mature audiences - the settings stark and moody, befitting the play. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and at least 2 sections of the theatre were virtually empty. This is a real shame since PCPA's productions are so well crafted and not overly priced. I would recommend PCPA to anyone.

By Sandi M |

We spent a wonderful evening at PCPA's production of "Mary Poppins". It was every bit as good as the Broadway production. My eleven year old grandchild was enchanted! Worth the money! We may even go again during the Christmas Vacation.

By Lyle D |

Never dissapointed with the quality of the plays.
Take your kids and watch their imaginations grow as the magic of live theatre carries them away to another time and place filled with excitement and adventure.
It’s also great for large groups of friends.

By Mike Busch |

I recently attended a PCPA performance of the musical "In The Heights" with my girlfriend. We both enjoyed it immensely. The singing and dancing were wonderful, the script was clever and funny, and the professionalism of the entire production far exceeded our expectations. We're looking forward to returning for another PCPA performance soon.

By TravelerCharlotte |

I love everything about PCPA...the acting, costumes, lighting, scenery, venue (both SM and Solvang), price. I am always shocked when I talk to locals who have never been. It is a true gem of the Central Coast.

By Vita M |

We saw the musical "Shrek", it was very entertaining and well done. I have always enjoyed the performances by the PCPA. They are a class act.

By GeeAMouse |

Top shelf productions with the best professional and student performers. Good for the whole family, visitors or all by yourself.

By Bruce B |

The players are college students and, for the most part, local actors with regular day jobs. This isn't high falutin' Broadway of top-of-the-line Shakespeare, but it's a cool local place to catch a good play.

By 15shawnam |

PCPA never disappoints. For a small, local theater company they always put on a top notch professional production!

By itchntotravel |

Check out PCPA’s current production of the Hunchback from Notre Dame. Strong cast with a mixture of student interns, resident faculty and professional actors. Beautiful scenery, costuming, music and so much more. This is a show not to miss in a lovely theatre. How fortunate for the central coast to have such a thriving company and supportive community! Congratulations, this is a treasure . ( Catch this production in Solvang in June/ July if you miss it here in Santa Maria)

By Renee R |

My husband and I went with two grandkids and it was amazing the kids truly enjoyed the whole show it gave me goosebumps it was better than watching the movie

By MimaSLO |

My husband and I recently took our granddaughter to see Mamma Mia! for her birthday. We had the best seats and the show was superb! So fun! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I only had to cover our granddaughter's eyes during one part of the play, which was a bit too suggestive for a just-turned 12 year old.

By Zenon8818 |

It doesn't get any better than PCPA. We are really fortunate to have such a quality theater in the Central Coast. It is a school, and a very high quality one at that. All productions feature 'equity' players for main roles and students in supporting roles and production roles. I've never seen a bad production and I've been going here 20 years.

By Lola D |

This wonderful outdoor theater hasn't got a bad seat in the house. The amphitheater design makes for great sight-lines from just about anywhere. The cast, sets and costumes are always top-notch. We've been attending at least one production each summer for the past decade and always look forward to a wonderful experience. Our most recent trip was for the Hunchback of Notre Dame, a musical, which was exceptional. The cast was incredibly talented and the leads were amazing. What talent! So glad we were able to get tickets. We plan to meet other family members in August to see Mama Mia.

By psadams52 |

The quality of the productions at PCPA is amazing. We laughed during Legally Blonde and The Rivals! Both incredible productions!!!

By Erin G |

I took my 14yo granddaughter as part of our summer adventure to Solvang. Her face was in awe the entire time. She told me she was going to be the last person still clapping as she enjoyed it that much. It can be challenging to spark excitement and enthusiasm in teenagers, but she loved the show so much she asked if we can go see plays/musicals once a month! Thank you for an amazing experience and a truly wonderful performance. We loved everything about it!

By MicBagby |

I have grown up traveling an hour to Santa Maria to enjoy their productions...I now am taking my children (and my mom too who first introduced us!)and we just came back from their Christmas production of Beauty and the Beast. The play could not have been improved upon. It was classic and magical, brimming with music and humor. It's been a real treat to watch my favorite Oceano Melodrama actors continue their craft with PCPA.
I've traveled further but haven't found anyone who could hold a 'candlestick' to PCPA.
Also, do not miss their summer productions outside at Solvang theater. NOTHING has compared to the one year of the production of Evita when she was singing 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina" when that full moon rose behind her. It was breathtaking.
And my other favorite (which I dearly miss...hint hint) is their take on 'Joseph and His Amazing Tech. Deamcoat'. Wish they could do that one each and every Christmas.
I also want to have a 'shout-out' to the gentleman in the box office the evening we went to see B&B, I had forgotten my tickets at home (an hour away) and he went and reproduced them for us...THANK YOU AGAIN! This is why I LOVE community theater.

By Michael G |

PCPA is a gem! We have never been disappointed with a PCPA production. Great acting, great venue and great shows. Our most recent experience was "Bright Star". We thoroughly enjoyed this production and enthusiastically recommend PCPA productions.

By Aurora012 |

I have been a season subscriber for the last two years. Up until this last show, Arcadia,
every show has been stunning, beautifully performed, great stage plays.
Arcadia was a huge disappointment. We could hardly hear the dialogue most of the time, and when we did, it was very difficult to follow. We left after the first half as did about a third of the audience.

By SLOcyn |

We just saw Beauty and the Beast. It is so good, so professional. Actors, costumes and sets all top notch. It's not Broadway, but we paid very reasonable prices for a great performance. Highly recommend it. Because it is stadium seating, the viewing area was good. We were on the far right, section six and still had good sight.

By catheeb |

PCPA can be counted on to deliver professional high quality performances whether in solvang at the outdoor theater or at the Marian theater in Santa Maria! The small venues make it hard not to have a good seat. It's one if our central coast gems!

By Marcy Y |

My daughter and I came to see The Crucible. The ticket fee was whatever you wanted to pay which we couldn't pass up. We've attended a show every November since 2004. We are usually quite pleased with the performances. We have sat in just about every area of the theater and even the side seats are not too bad. We like this venue and will continue to come back.

By deborah8882018 |

Mama Mia - what a wonderful and uplifting show, consistent with all of the other excellent PCPA performances I have attended over the years. The acting, singing, musical accompaniment, staging were just amazing. Highly recommended show.

By Marlena920 |

We have been going to see the plays at PCPA for years. They have top notch actors/actresses in the plays. Even though some are students, they are outstanding. We have never seen a bad play or players all these years.

By misha_t |

This NOT a community college "let's put on a show" acting-class project: the plays and musicals at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts feature professional actors who are members of Actors Equity, and graduates of PCPA's Conservatory in addition to full-time students and interns. The PCPA is celebrating the 50th anniversary this year of bringing professional live theater to Santa Maria.

Our favorite productions are musicals but not exclusively. As subscribers we have seen Mary Poppins, Daddy Long Legs, Peter Pan, Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, West Side Story, A Christmas Carol, and more, and we're looking forward to seeing Oklahoma this summer.

The two theaters on the campus of Allan Hancock College have been recently renovated. Parking on campus is free: for performances on school days, you'll receive a parking pass with your tickets.

PCPA also performs outdoors in the summer at the Solvang Theaterfest, about 30 miles south of Santa Maria.

Tickets are priced in three tiers: adults, seniors, students. A show at PCPA is a great night out!

By Delia G |

I love to attend the plays at PCPA. They are a very professional at performing. Every seat is a good seat. I enjoy taking my family. The ushers are friendly and helpful. The snacks are simple and quick. We always enjoy ourselves

By 718charlener |

I would recommend this musical. It was very good and had a very good ploy to it. It makes you think about a lot of different issues.

By brotherroy |

Have seen several productions at PCPA and they have all been excellent. Their summer theater in Solvang is definitely a bonus to a region known for wine tourism. Really good quality of actors.

By Cheryl G |

We have seen many plays here and are never disappointed. A great variety of plays with a wide range of appeal.

By Kathy C |

More than one would expect from a local theatre.
But the casts are Pros that is why the acting is first rate
It is unbelievable the variety of shows presented in a season, it is hard to imagine all the work behind the scenes to create these qulity performances with the best of constumes and stage sets
I always feel sad when people are unaware of how good the theatre is here in Solvang
New Yorkers have commented that 'it is as good as Broadway'
Dress warm for when the sun sets it is a bit chilly in this outdoor theater
They do rent blankets and seat cushions for a nominal fare
Besides the great shows it is just fun just to watch the scenes change and sip on your wine or hot chocolate in the open air
You leave happy

By Norma F |

We have attended many performances at PCPA over the last 13 years. They have all been top quality - good acting, staging, sets, sound, music, etc. It's in the half round, and all seats have a good view. Very comfortable theater.

By William S |

My wife and I, as well as some close friends have been attending various productions at PCPA for several years now. And we have never had anything less than a wonderful experience. Whether it's Shakespeare, O'Neill, or Gilbert and Sullivan, the quality is always excellent.

It's also great to watch PCPA students develop in their skills and crafts.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

By John H |

Have seen two productions in the last 2 months. Both were fabulous. Santa Maria is indoors, Solvang is outside which can be a little cool.

By BeckyD934 |

If you're traveling along the Central Coast of California allow yourself a exceptional treat. Try to attend any performance at PCPA. I have never been disappointed and I have been attending plays there for more than 30 years. The cast is made up of professional actors or students who want to become professionals in theater. That includes set, lighting and sound design and they do an extraordinary job and for much less than what you would pay for LA tickets. Shakespeare and drama are my favorites, but musicals and comedy are also incredibly well done. During the intermission of Music Man, a visitor asked me if the plays were always that good. The answer was certainly, "Yes", which is why I've had season tickets for a number of years now.

By KenVC_11 |

The PCPA is one of those things that gives you something different to do. It almost always has some some good acting. You won.t be dissapointed.

By Nancy W |

Outstanding theater!! Excellent actors! Extremely creative sets and costumes. I have been to both the Marian Theater in Santa Maria and the outdoor theater in Solvang. Both offer superb theater experiences. I am always astounded by the talent of the actors and the set designers. Costumes designers have never disappointed me either.

The Solvang theater is an evening-only outdoor theater and a unique experience offering the same professional, polished performances by PCPA's troupe.

I've seen plays in New York City and Los Angeles in addition to our annual season tickets for productions in Santa Barbara and Ventura, CA. Local theater should not be overlooked as our season tickets are worth the money. You don't have to be in New York to experience good theater!.

By SYGal |

My husband and I have attended plays at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles and at several theaters on Broadway over the years. With a smaller budget and more modest facility, PCPA still manages to produce a quality performance well worth attending and we've never been disappointed. Our favorite part has been to take our family and friends as our guests, some of them seeing a live play for the first time. It makes theater fans out of all of them every time! Check out the PCPA Theatrefest with its outdoor amphitheater during the summer months, too, for an especially enjoyable evening in the neighboring city of Solvang.

By Barry M |

THE PCPA continues to put on some of the best live performances on the Central Coast. Good for all ages, and true entertainment at it's best. Bravo PCPA, keep us the good work.

By bghanson |

The student performers you see there on stage at the PCPA will be on big-city theater stages throughout the next decade or more. Backing them up are truly professional technicians and instructors. Over the twenty years I have been in the area, I have never seen a bad show.

By ojaiquilter |

The productions put on by PCPA are ALWAYS excellent! During the cool months we attend them in Santa Maria's Marian Theatre and in the warmer summer months we see the plays at the Solvang Outdoor Theatre.

By Joe M |

It's worth going just because the ticket prices are so good. Once you experience the quality of the actors, the value becomes obvious and you'll want a season pass regardless whether you get one. Great performances!

By Diane S |

I bought tickets for Much Ado About Nothing in Santa Maria as a Valentine"s Day gift for my husband . This was a first for us to visit PCPA at the performing arts school venue. We went to the matinee yesterday and as always the show was amazingly performed and entertaining. We have enjoyed shows performed by PCPA more than the same show seen in Los Angeles, with traveling Broadway productions. I'm glad we drove the extra distance this time, to see a show during there winter season.
We usually enjoy PCPA productions during the summer in Solvang with family and friends.

By soulart99 |

A strong production of a challenging play, Arcadia, by Tom Stoppard. PCPA nailed it on every level. Intelligent direction, diverse casting, strong acting, and a

By Jeaton8 |

The quality of work at the PCPA over the years is great. Top quality talent, production, and implementation. Go support this great resource. Their work is the best

By roshw2017 |

Attending any production by PCPA is more than just a theatrical experience, it is an opportunity to immerse oneself in the sights, sounds, emotions, dramas, laughs, tears and antics of a group of highly talented actors under the direction of a truly creative director. Knowing that one is also supporting a conservatory from which future talent will emerge adds to the joy. Whether in Santa Maria or Solvang, it is well worth the effort.

By tmcdevitt |

We have been season subscribers for two years and the plays keep getting better which we thought was impossible to do. The quality of the shows is amazing and their choices are always entertaining and enlightening. Take advantage of shows at either the campus theater or in Solvang. Both settings are awesome in their own way.

By Jennifer O |

We have been to PCPA before, but it's been a long time. On the spur of the moment I purchased two of the last four tickets available, on far stage left. There really is no bad seat in the house, because the seats were AWESOME! We could see everything just fine, in spite of the fact that I wouldn't have normally chosen those seats.

This play is extremely well done, interactive, and visually appealing. The costumes were fantastic! There wasn't a dull moment, and each and every actor was stupendous! Especially if you live on the Central Coast, PCPA is a gem, and if you haven't experienced it, it's well worth the trip.

Order your intermission snacks prior to the show for a pleasant, leisurely snack, as opposed to spending 10 of your 15 minutes waiting in line for your coffee and cookie (there are other yummy snacks, as well). Bring your older kids, too, so you can introduce them to the wonder of live theater. Actually there were lots of children at this show, from about age 5 and up, and I only saw one who was unhappy. The rest of them seemed to be enthralled, which made my heart happy.

By Kristin W |

PCPA always puts on a fantastic production. My Fair Lady was no exception. Great acting, singing & dancing. Always leave PCPA with a huge smile on my face. Can't wait for Man of La Mancha.

PS....be sure to bring a blanket, nights get cold in Solvange.

By Jessica A |

Amazing show! Amazing cast! Amazing time! Cast members came out to interact with the crowd prior to showtime, making it a great experience. We had a wonderful time!

By MsMochi |

I have been taking my nephew to PCPA every holiday season since he was 5 (and he's turning 12 this year). We go to In & Out and then a Saturday or Sunday matinee. The local talent we have in SM is top notch and amazing. He is beginning to recognize the actors and which parts they played the previous years!

Get your tickets early - shows sell out fast and while there are no terrible seats in the theater, it is better to be in the middle section than off on the sides.

During the summer we go to the Theaterfest in Solvang.

Great place for professional live theater. Never seen a show, I didn't like here. The students are amazing! Great atmosphere, fun and entertaining!

was my grandsons graduation Love the area and also love the college campus. it is close the the ocean and the weather was perfect for that time of the year.

We saw the performance of Million Dollar Quartet - at the PCPA in Solvang.
It was unbelievably good! They do quite a number of different plays throughout the season. The venue is superb - not a bad seat in the place. Must have been 15 rows in a semi-circle facing the state.
Not only that, there is a wonderful picnic area with perhaps 12 large tables where you can bring in your own food (and wine) - as long as you take anything left back to your car or hotel before entering the seating area. We loved this aspect. It opens 1.5 hours ahead of the performance.
They also serve various refreshments at the venue. But even in the summer, be aware that it can get cool/cold after dark, so bring blankets! You can rent a seat cushion for $1 if you want as well.
This place was a total suprise and unexpected treat!

This is a company of students and a few more experienced performers who put on an enthusiastic performance every time. The Marion Theater in Santa Maria is intimate and versatile. In the summer months, each production has a run in the Solvang Festival Theater as well. An outdoor theater in the 3/4 round under the stars. No bad seating. Bring a seat cushion and a blanket-- or rent some at the venue.

By SMGrandma |

This venue offers wonderful dramas and musicals. There is plenty of parking on the campus where this theater is located. They have 'artists in residence' that appear in each production, along with other gifted actors. Very professional. Their second location, an amphitheater, in Solvang, is a unique outdoor experience. It's recommended that you bring a jacket and/or a blanket for that theater. Parking there is on the street near the theater. Ordering tickets online is very easy and better than getting tickets at the box office. They offer group sales, too.

By ksharum |

My first time experiencing this outdoor theater in Solvang. It was very fun! The production was excellent and quite funny. My friend and I had a picnic in Los Olivos before the show - I planned for cold but the weather was comfortable - the sound and set great. A first class event that I would highly recommend.

By Joanne H |

We attended the Million Dollar Quartet show on June 29th and were highly impressed with the talent these young men displayed. Their performance was exceptional! Our favorite was the actor that played Jerry Lee Lewis. He was so talented, and we thought he was even better than Jerry Lee Lewis himself! We are senior citizens who grew up listening to these singers, and we thoroughly enjoyed their show. Johnny Cash was also right on and Elvis had the right moves. Carl Perkins ability to play that guitar was great! We would highly recommend seeing this show.

We love driving to Santa Maria for plays at PCPA! We live in San Luis Obispo so I try to get to shows in the afternoon. Yesterday saw that a charter bus had come from Santa Barbara, I am glad to know that folks from there come up, that PCPA is recognized there as the premier theater company it is. After the play there was a Talk Back with the cast. While I had known it was part of Hancock College, I had not known how the educational part worked, but three of the cast were teachers, and three were students. Last play I saw was The Little Mermaid - it was spectacular - wonderful for people of all ages. The staging, singing, costumes and acrobatics were unbelievable.

By BobD686 |

We have been season ticket holders for years (mostly at the Marian theater in Santa Maria)and never has there been a disappointing performance. Shakespeare, Comedy, Musicals, they do everything. The venue is semi circular and there isn't a bad seat in the house. We recently attended the performance, Oklahoma and it was great, much enthusiasm and enjoyment by the performers. Parking is great and the prices are quite reasonable.

By Melissa Musgrove |

PCPA has wonderful shows and great talent. Every seat is a good one, so don't stress about where to sit. An all around great value, and fabulous experience to enjoy.

By Kelly R |

Great show, so much fun. Great actors and wonderful seating. Great selection of snacks and they had blankets for rent.

By paulV7906UT |

I was very skeptical. San Diego has world class theater (Old Globe) and I was nervous that a small theater in Santa Maria would be disappointing. OK, I admit it!! I was very pleasantly surprised. The set for In The Heights was beautiful. The acting superb. The music (LIVE!!!) was wonderful. I'll be back. I encourage others to check it out.

By GrandTour812597 |

Love going to the PCPA! Actors are very professional, stage is always well put together, and the theater is comfortable.

By Bobbi G |

We just saw native gardens this weekend at the theaterfest in Solvang. We thoroughly enjoyed the production but wanted to express these observations and comments. The show was a little difficult to understand in the beginning. There was loud background music that overshadowed the actors voices. I don’t believe the actors were wearing Microphones and it was hard to hear them. This background music I assume was meant to set a tone and ambience from each house but was very distracting. Things got better as the show progressed and we especially appreciated and enjoyed it during the second half after intermission. The storyline is quite timely, quirky and right on cue! We walked away with big smiles on our faces. PCPA always does a fantastic job, no matter what their production. We will come again and again.

By pmwslo |

We've been season subscribers for the last several years. We've never been disappointed in any play. This is a top notch theater company! The venue in Solvang is intimate. We always arrive early to absorb the ambiance of the grounds before the play.

By kimberleeq2015 |

I have been going to PCPA for almost 30 years! I love this place! I always have. PCPA takes excellent care of our local scouting and school groups too! We don't have to travel anywhere else lto see great plays, laugh at uproarious comedies, or use lots of tissues at tear jerking dramas. And, of course, we love Miss Kitty! Grab your whole family, all your friends and see a play tonight!

By Cynthia R |

The show started prompt as usual, staff was very polite, and accomadateing.actors were well prepared.I enjoyed myself very much it brought fond memeries of when my family would attend plays when i was younger.

By roberthD2925AX |

A play for all seasons. We have enjoyed the amazingly vibrant and professional open air performances at the PCPA Solvang theater fest as well as performances at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria for more than 20 years. Any musical any venue any production none have left us disappointed. It is quite an artistic as well as engineering feat what they accomplish on a smaller Shakespearean style stage.

By Rachael D |

Frankly, I have only seen two shows; but I still say they are always amazing.
My first show was a high school field trip in 2014 to see a take on Mary Poppins. After the show, our class got to go backstage to see all the effort they put into every show. Seeing that convinced me of two things: 1) I could never do what they do 2) The PCPA's productions are/must/will be amazing.

By sbtraveler162 |

I have been going for years to their shows and have never been disappointed. The price is such a bargain for shows of this caliber. The theater is a great venue, all the seats are good. The acting and sets are first rate.

By cheers2u22 |

PCPA always has a wonderful line up of plays to enjoy every season. Some of my favorites are held in the outdoor theater in Solvang or the special productions that occur around the holidays between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have enjoyed the productions for many years and am always impressed by not only the talent but the ways in which the stages are constructed to make the scenes.

By carindenyce |

Always a good time no matter the event. Good venue for family fun, a romantic night out or as a way to impress out of town guests.

By Sayonarapikachu |

This is a lovely theater and even the cheap seats have good views, the performers move around on stage so that everyone can enjoy the action! Little Shop of Horrors was just as cute as could be, lots of innuendo, puns, and sarcasm. Not to mention referrals to the 50's and 60's. Most enjoyable show!

By J Javier S |

Went to the Santa Maria AHC PCPA theatre to see a Documentary of a young man who came to America looking for the American Dream to become a well known person and he did, after lots of hard work, and then he got an education and became an author to the Book called Short Circuit,

By 805london1 |

This production was out of this world! The singing, dancing and dialogue could not have been easy but the performers were flawless in their timing and made it look easy! It was so much fun...We enjoyed the whole experience so much I bought my son and his girlfriend tickets for this Sunday. The outdoor theater and general atmosphere are absolutely lovely and together with a show as well-done as this; life just doesn't get any better. We'll be back for the next show as soon as we can! We recommend bringing a small cushion to sit on and maybe bring a sweater too.

By Meandlee |

Wasn’t expecting the reimagining of this production, Cabaret. It was so powerful and yet fun, and yet completely relevant in today’s landscape. The character of Sally Bowles played by Erika Olson and the MC played by Diva LaMarr were outstanding, brilliant and complex. We were excited and filled with exuberance, but also left feeling devastated, humbled and somber with the retelling of the ending. What a rollercoaster we went on. Thank you PCPA.

By Nancy B |

We look forward to enjoying theater productions every summer in the PCPA outdoor theater in Solvang! It's magical sitting outside in their crisp, clear, starry nights enjoying excellent theater productions! Every seat is good and their productions are exceptional! We've always been able to find parking close by in addition to the lot at the end of the block. They also have great coffee and goodies during intermission and a cute park-like setting to enjoy them in! There are also a variety of fun restaurants to have dinner before the production! We've never been disappointed! Love the experience!

By Ashley |

I'm a theater superfan and see literally everything that's produced in NYC. This has made me jaded and not easy to please, even with Broadway these days. I thought our tickets to Oklahoma! would be just a cute diversion on our trip to Solvang. Not so! This was a top-notch production, as good as and better than many things I've seen in NYC recently. Talented actors, great direction, adorable theater. They just need to work on their sound system and they'll be perfect. All around, a really lovely night and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

And yeah. Pack a sweater. I failed on that one.

By Justin |

the PCPA is Santa Maria’s greatest thing to do. It’s totally worth it every time. I’ve never been disappointed by an experience here.

By Mark J |

PCPA's plays never cease feeling too-good-to-be-true.
Once again, Cinderella (now over) was flawless top-to-bottom: music, choreography, acting and vocal talent- had nowhere to hide in that intimate venue. It's like watching a miracle. Every time.

My wife and I see the big plays at the big auditoriums in LA, and they're great. But for us, the PCPA theater is where you are actually part of the experience.

By Quiltlady1127 |

PCPA Can't be beat for local entertainment. Very high quality productions. Worth every penny and a real bargain compared to the high priced theatres in LA or SF. If you're in town when something is playing you won't be disappointed.

By Janice G |

My husband and I attended the production, "Bright Star" in Santa Maria. We read some of the reviews and expected the show to be very good, but we were amazed at the quality of the performance. We couldn't have been more pleased. The actors' voices were wonderful. After seeing this play, I'm definitely going to buy tickets for other performances.

By Cuando P |

The show was amazing. The actors were extremely talented. The tickets were very affordable. The entire family had a ton of fun. Would highly recommend if anyone finds themselves in Solvang to take in the show.

By CRJolicoeur |

My daughter and I went to see The Crucible in February, 2018. The theater in the round is one of my favorite parts about this theater. Every seat is a great seat. The lighting and sound is very professional. The actors are highly talented. It's reasonably priced, too.

By Cynthia R |

Much better than I expected. Costumes were great, actors were very talented.
There is something special about watching a play under the stars with your favorite snuggly blanket and a glass of wine in your hand.

By psadams52 |

Thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Christmas Eve seeing The Wizard of Oz! These productions are always 'top notch'. Amazing talent and creativity. This type of production makes it fun to support the Arts!

By Kerry M |

I've been coming to PCPA shows for over 20 years now, and have never been disappointed. I was lucky enough to see Mother Road this weekend, and was blown away by the performances of the whole ensemble, the lighting and the sets. Next up is Stephen Sondheim's Into The Woods, and I know this is going to be another Stella show. If you're looking for good quality theatre, comparable to Broadway quality, don't hesitate to book tickets at PCPA. Highly recommended!

By spark1 |

The acting is superb...amazing performances. We've been to several but failed to review until now. Do not pass up on an opportunity to go to the plays. I've never been to one that wasn't great. Because the venues are so close to the actors you feel part of the play.

By Julia S |

Since I am a transplant form the SF Bay Area, it is wonderful to have such talent and entertainment in my new home town. I have seen several performances through out the last 12 years with family, teens, pre-teens and girlfriends. also, if you are visiting Solvang, I highly recommend getting tickets to PCPA's outdoor theater during the summer.

By cajun12017 |

The cast is amazingly talented. Joe and George are out of this world and perfect in their roles. The entire cast is super talented, making this a fun, fun event!

By Nancy F |

What a great asset for the community and visitors to the area. High quality entertainment in a local setting and reasonable cost.

By panoramarick |

I've been attending plays here for over 30 years. They never fail to impress me with the high quality of stage craft, acting, lighting and overall professionalism. Truly, a jewel of the Central Coast.

By CentralCoastLady |

Simply amazing. What a fantastic evening. My FairvLady was done so well, I sat in my seat with an uncontrollable grin the entire time. PCPA is a amazing and Santa Maria is lucky to have it!

By Evalene C |

Great Theater with outstanding actors! Just saw "Lend Me A Tenor" and it was fabulous! I really look forward to the plays at this theather!

By _thistletea |

Love going to the outdoor venue in Solvang. It does get chilly so bring blankets or you can rent them. Everything we have seen there has been delightful!

By LCGWPM |

Great place to meet friends & family. Large menu: sandwiches,
salads, al a carte & full.meals
Good desserts, too! Can't wait til they rpen after the fire!

By Kelly G |

Having attended no less than 15 plays at PCPA and walked away pleased each time, I am confident that anyone who enjoys theater will be delighted by the fabulous performances this Company of actors always provides.

By Pauline H |

Not a bad seat in the house. We saw Cinderella and it was a bit of a different story but was very captivating for adults and 8 and 9 year olds alike. Affordable and easy to get there.

By Zaena B |

The PCPA is a wonderful way to pass an afternoon or evening. The Theater can boast of several professional actors who have participated at various times in this wonderful Conservatory- Powers Booth, the late, great Robin Williams, and Mark Harelik to name a few.
Always stylish and professional, this Conservatory takes pride in offering up not only fabulous old favorites, but new, contemporary plays as well. You won't regret any time spent at the Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts, in Santa Maria, CA.

By thawsout |

PCPA has conistently put on top notch performances over the years we have been attending. The Christmas season special plays are always a memorable family treat we cherish long after. The level of professionalism is unsurpassed in local or other small town venues and the quality of the plays is the best.
Whether you enjoy the plays at the Alan Hancock College campus or in the lovely summer Solvang Theatrefest, don't miss your opportunity for 1st class entertainment at reasonable prices and a friendly, well staged setting.

By SLOnative |

Kathy Bates and Zac Efron are some former amateurs who have performed in numerous plays in their two Allen Hancock College theatres and at their outdoor theatre in Solvang. I've seen numerous productions in all three theatres. PCPA even produces original plays and musicals. One of my favorites was "The Wildest !!!" a world premier featuring the music of Louis Prima and Keely Smith in the summer of 2004. I even got a chance to talk to Keely Smith at a reception in this historic Santa Maria Inn before the opening. Keely was wowed not only by the actors, but also the saxophone player in the band, whom she offered a job during the standing ovation. Check it out. PCPA was my mother's favorite local entertainment in the 20th century. Students come from around the U.S. and compete for all positions. Yes, I saw Zac perform when he was about ten.

By cbo49r |

Fun and well done theatre, very fair family friendly cost, and kid friendly snacks and intermission.

By Irishgrammy |

We took our two grand kids to see Shrek - The Musical and they loved it. It was so well done and everything was so professional. The actors were fantastic and several of them really shone and went above and beyond!!!! I love PCPA and we are never disappointed! The Solvang outdoor theater is beautiful! It is such a fun event!

By Footprints398936 |

LOVED the funny, true to life and even touching story of Brighton Beach Memoirs! ALL of the actors were superb - especially Momma and Eugene!! Great seats and an elaborate set! A MUST SEE! A+

By Marlena920 |

Saw the play Elf. Was fantastic. ALL the show at PCPA are fantastic. I have season tickets and have been going for years. Have not seen a bad show yet. Performance and cast are the best.

By macwendi |

We are never disappointed. PCPA offers spectacular shows with wonderful Singing, Dancing and acting. A professional show for sure.

By Iva V |

We have had the privilege to attend two performances at PCPA. This year we saw Beauty and the Beast. The performance was well-cast. The audience was delighted with great acting and singing. The sets were very elaborate and were easily transitioned as needed. We will look forward to future shows when we are in the area again.

By Helen Y |

We never miss a PCPA Performance. Their shows are always wonderful. Don’t miss seeing them. Our adult daughter with disabilities loves the musicals. We do too!

By Saraleemacdonald |

The musical production was a magical and wonderful experience.Should be Broadway Bound! Broad appeal

By Stephanie G |

Awesome place and always has great venues for family outings and for fiends to have a great time. Outside open air makes this place a refreshing, comfortable, relaxing, positive environment.

By kimberleeq2015 |

For 20 years "The Little Mermaid" has been my favorite Disney movie and the PCPA production of this beloved story is amazing in it's own right. The music, singing, costumes, arial work and intimacy of this performance had me entranced the entire time. The actors' energy was contagious. "Urusula", you are wicked indeed and that maniacal laugh will haunt me for awhile! Ariel, where did you get those amazing pipes?! Scuttle, you're Tommy Tutone in disguise?! Yes, we recognize that number! You don't need to call Jenny for a good time, call PCPA and get tickets and take everyone you know to see this wondrous underwater adventure, before it swims away!

By dswenk |

Wonderful acting at an affordable price. I never am disappointed when we attend the PCPA. they have a great group of actors with a diversity of shows.

By dlb0758 |

We have been attending plays at this venue for years. It is a true gem. Quality actors (pro and student), great production value, lighting, set design and friendly volunteer ushers. Low tickets prices and plentiful free parking makes this a GREAT date night.

By pacair |

We've held sesaon tickets to the delightful PCPA summer play series for more than 20 years.

It's truly a joy to see the productions staged by the staff, students and visiting actors associated with Alan Hancock College. The Theater it self is an outdoor bowl, set under giant Oak trees and a nice garden area, with seating for perhaps 500. Since it is a training institution as well, this small venue is fully staffed with Box office services, ushers, snack bar and a nice wine bar.

Many will bring a bottle of wine or a light dinner to enjoy in the garden before the show. Sine the evenings generally begin to cool fairly quickly after sunset, a light jacket or throw blanket will make many people more comfortable. Casual dress is in order. Blankets and seat cushions are available for rent for a nominal fee.

If your going to be in the Santa Ynez valley during the summer or fall months, you should consider attending even if you are not normally a fan of live stage. You may well be pleasantly surprised.

By jmnuke |

Excellent cast. Very funny and entertaining play. Excellent Theatre, stage is visible from any seat in the house. Now playing in Solvang theatre.

By CA Gal |

Saw Forever Plaid at the theater in Solvang. What a great way to spend the evening!! The show was so good! Absolutely loved it!!!

By Cynthia C |

The most professional acting and dancing between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Even the side seats are good, great acoustics, absolutely spectacular plays and dance ensembles throughout the year, including an always family appropriate holiday season production. A smaller, intimate adjoining theater, the Severson, hosts intimate plays, readings and performances. One of the central coast's most precious resources for a seriously enjoyable experience.

By Marlena920 |

Peter Pan was an excellent show. Everyone would enjoy seeing this performance. the characters fly through the air. Captain Hook was outstanding. I can't say enough about how great this show is.

By Tami B |

Hadn't been to PCPA in a few years but it was amazing, as it was the last time I was there. Performance was excellent!!

By jberb |

This outdoor theatre was so much fun! It was a beautiful evening and they do such a good job with concessions that you should definitely arrive early and enjoy the grounds and a glass of wine or a coffee. Quality of the performers was top-notch! We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more - treat yourself to a fantastic evening!

By slorev |

My wife and I attended PCPA's official opening performance of "Hairspray" on June 18, and if there's ONE show you want to plan on going to see this summer - THIS IS IT! It runs through July 2 at the Marian Theatre in Santa Maria, and then July 8-31 at the Festival Theatre in Solvang. The cast is amazing, the sets & costumes are wonderful, and Michael Jenkinson's direction and choreography may well be his best work to date.

By Heywoodjo |

Very enjoyable production by a first class organization! Have never seen a poor show. Love the Marian Theater. PCPA is a wonderful asset on the Central Coast

By Ruth F |

PCPA is a great way to spend an afternoon. The actors work really hard to give a great show to the public. Hard work pays off. Well spent money.

By steve mcdermott |

Every single cast member was exceptional. Perfectly cast. The staging was top rate, one of the best I've seen at PCPA both in Santa Maria and Solvang. If you want a special evening out in this area, this is it.

By CLSvoboda |

You can NEVER go wrong with a PCPA play and their current production of "Noises Off" is a complete delight. I had heard such good things about how funny it was, that I expected to be disappointed. No chance. I laughed so hard at one point my face ached. The actors are fantastic - their timing, their physicality, their awareness of what works and what doesn't. This is simply the best theater available here on the central coast. Stop reading this review. Buy your tickets and have a terrific time!

By Tamar H |

There are two theaters that alternate the production of PCPA. One is in Santa Maria, Ca and is connected to the student theatre program at the local college. PCPA also employs professional actors for their top-notch productions. After the run is finished in Santa Maria, it moves to the theater in Solvang, Ca. Solvang's theater is a duplicate of Shakespere's Globe Theater, in the round and outdoors under the stars. The PCPA productions are all of Broadway caliber. Great sets, great singers, magnificent actors.
Highly recommend!

By slorev |

We had the pleasure of seeing the closing performance or Arthur Miller's "All My Son's" at PCPA's Severson Theatre in Santa Maria. It was an AMAZING show, and the intimate confines of the Severson made the audience feel as if we were almost a part of the action rather than just watching it unfold before us. Chekhov's "Three Sisters" will be presented in the same space in September - be sure and attend if you possibly can!

By CharleySays |

The quality of theatre produced at PCPA is top notch. There is a full season of shows and often other events at beautiful theatre, Having been going to events there on and off for decades, I was amazed that i had not reviewed the theatre. All production I have seen have been enjoyable, and the theatre with the thrust stage makes all the seats good, and of course the closer seats better. If you are a theatre type, (I know not everyone is) look them up on the web and see a performance when you travel through. Break a leg as they say!

By 841seaside |

The Solvang theater is a beautiful outdoor venue; however, Arcadia was one of the worst shows that my husband and I have seen. We couldn't figure out the plot to the play (nor could our daughter and son-in-law who went with us) and had trouble hearing the cast. All of us left at intermission.

By Theroadwarrior12 |

We took our family to see the latest PCPA holiday production of Mary Poppins. Stellar cast, truly professional.
Many of the shows are already sold out through Christmas.
It was truly wonderful.

By Darylfrom |

We found the PCPA outdoor theater in Solvang by chance last year when they were performing Newsies. My wife saw that Mamma Mia was on this year, so we booked our flights from Hong Kong to watch the show. Had our friends from Cypress join us, so it was quite an evening. We enjoyed the show and performance. The outdoor theatre was beautiful and the performance was a lot of fun. My teenage kids loved the musical. The only issue we had was it was cold that evening. I don't know how the actors performed so well in the light costumes.
Thank you for the enjoyable memories.

By Steven |

PCPA certainly did do the Neil Simon play, Brighton Beach Memoirs justice. It was an intense and moving production with wonderful, and needed, comic relief.

By kayjoannreid |

I have been attendiing PCPA plays for 40 years and LOVE all of them. This
one beats them all!! So fantastic!

By CUtravelling |

This was my first experience with the theater. The presentation of The Sound of Music was phenomenal. The actors where as good as Broadway performers. Little Gretl stole the show with her acting, singing and dancing. The scenery, stage movement, costumes, props and lighting was perfection. I highly recommend this theater for high quality productions in a beautiful setting. Every seat is a great view of the stage. Enjoy!

By Lily1Z2897ZJmichaels |

This is his Tony winning Musical that preceded Hamilton! Excellent show, wonderful cast and well choreographed! We took visitors to see the very first performance and really enjoyed. Probably got better and better. 👍👍👍👍👍

By Surfr4evr |

This truly is theatre at its best. You get to see up and coming students working with SAG professionals in comedies, musicals and even Shakespeare. Go to the outdoor theatre in Solvang or the PCPA center in Santa Maria, and you will be very pleasantly surprised. Have never seen a bad production yet, always top notch.

We attended Cabaret on Sunday, July 21 at 1:30 pm; we enjoyed the performance, as we always do. This is a big show with lots of dancing and a live band, full of energy, and playing to a full house.

This was our first time at a Sunday matinee (we had to change the date and time we could go, but were still able to get seats in row J, the top row, where we always sit because of my difficulty navigating the stairs).

We saw many people in the audience who also had mobility issues, some with canes, some with walkers, some in wheel chairs. At intermission we saw a patron who was having noticeable difficulty coming up the stairs. Her friends also had difficulty with the stairs. We saw an able-bodied younger patron get up out of her seat, go down the stairs to meet that person and help her; she took her arm and held on to her as she moved up each step. Her friends were unable to help her, and the ushers are not expected to do that.

We would like to suggest to patrons with mobility issues that they explain this when ordering tickets by phone, so that they can request seating in the top two rows. Perhaps the PCPA mailings and website could even advise patrons with handicaps to speak with someone at the box office about this when placing ticket orders.

This is a must visit if you are traveling on the central coast. But you probably need to be sure to have reservations in advance. This is a not too large live theater with a staff of regular paid actors, which also incorporates college level actor in supporting roles. Everything is top notch! Great plays and musicals with outstanding sets. I remember seeing Kathy Bates here in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST many years ago! A great Venus!

By GLW1953 |

A fantastic production for a local company. We really enjoyed it. I was surprised at the quality of the production.

By Baxter M |

Each year we visit The Solvang Festival Theater in early August to see a play with family and friends. Though it may be hot during the day, it is always in the fifties at night. so dress warm. The play this year was Newsies, lots of music and dancing. The PCPA does a great job with all facets to their work.
Dress warm and try the cookies.

By 458debbia |

Outstanding show and my teen aged daughter loved it as well. Design of the theater was nifty and the actors are super talented. Only wish there was a way for those of us who are hard of hearing to catch all the dialogue. The actors project well and the acoustics are great however if the actor is turned away from where I'm sitting to face another actor, I miss some of what they're saying due to my hearing impairment. Planning to attend more shows in the future!!

By djcreati0ns |

Every product put on by the PCPA theater is wonderful. There are a few professionals who fill in each production, but the majority of the players are Allen Hancock students. The costume and stage settings are a 10 out of 10. You can't go wrong with any performance by the PCPA

By Bostongirl33051 |

Cast, designers, stage designers, wonderful theater! Thanks PCPA for another great evening! Actors are really great. I have seen productions in NY, LA and London and these young people hold their own with the best. A really fun evening!

By Storyteller625939 |

We went to see the “Addams family” and “A gentleman’s guide to love and murder” at the Marian theatre in Santa Maria. The venue is small with no bad seat in the house. We were given a military discount on our tickets which helped with the cost! The same shows play in the outdoor theatre in solvang. Highly recommend for live theatre productions.

By Elaine H |

Haven't laughed so much in ages! Fabulous actors/actresses who made Neil Simon's play come so alive!!!!

By stephany38 |

This is the greatest theater. The quality of the plays is beyond belief. I am a season ticket holder and I have seen plays here that equal or best those in NYC

By Califia |

PCPA is a resident professional theater company in Santa Maria on the Central Coast located on the Alan Hancock College campus. They have an outdoor theater in Solvang where they produce summer stock from June to October. For decades, PCPA has been presenting wonderful theater producing amazing quality entertainment for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara county residents. We recently attended a performance of "Legally Blond" and took our grandchildren. They'd never seen theater up close and personal. Even our grandson loved it! Price is right. Location is right off Highway 101, and parking are plentiful and easy.

By ArcticBird23 |

A great local date night. Talented performers entertain under the stars in quaint Solvang. Plenty of fun treats to eat and drink before and during the intermission. I hope to attend at least one show per summer if not more.

Absolutely beautiful outdoor venue in Solvang...saw In The Heights with a top notch cast, costumes, set, direction, music, etc. We were so thrilled to finally see the show on a beautiful summer night in this amazing venue. We will definitely return!

The best acting around. PCPA brings culture to Santa Maria. Each production is professional in all areas ; scenery, producing, acting, casting, lighting, and costuming. Even the pricing is reasonable and quite worth it.

By Clarice77 |

All of the PCPA productions are fantastic! The main actor did a wonderful job. He was the main character in The Whipping Man. I enjoyed him so much that I made sure that I saw him again in Fences! Top notch production, from the entire cast!!!

By Paul B |

Nice theatre, well attended, meager concessions, and always just frigid there. My wife and I have been several times and have nearly frozen to death each time. No, it's not just cold - bring every blanket you own, or that electric underwear you've been saving to climb Everest with! Great plays, always enjoyed the actors and actresses, they see to get real quality players, but the indoor venue in Santa Maria is WAY more enjoyable.

By LarryBuellton |

Excellent production of Shrek! The Dragon, alone, was worth the price of admission. Great acting, song, and voice projection, speaking as a hearing aide user. PCPA always has great productions and puts Hollywood to shame! My only gripe are the hard seats (bring/rent a cushion) and the cold nights in the middle of summer! The Santa Maria productions are great also but usually are a warm-up for the open air productions in Solvang.

By gloria M |

We went to the show in Solvang, which is part of the theaterfest, and it was very good. The theater is outdoors, so bring a blanket and a sweater. Actors were believable and good. Would definitely go to another show.

By S A |

Great place to take the family. The shows are always professionally done and never disappoint. Will definitely go back.

By 56kristenl |

I took my daughter to Cinderella. We both loved the performance. Fantastic acting, singing...and loved the jokes for the grown-ups. I went back for Pirates of Penzance in the spring. So GREAT!!! We are so lucky to have such a high-quality theater group on the Central Coast. I'll always go back.

By Sightseer714196 |

PCPA consistently puts on quality plays every season. From stage setting to live off-stage music to excellent acting- simply wonderful. I saw The Adams Family last week in Santa Maria- which was so much fun ( as part of my season package). I'm determined to splurge beyond my package and catch Million Dollar Quartet during this last week of run in Solvang.

By Franklin W |

Love every performance. Superior actors!! Good wine & snacks available at intermission. Be prepared for some intense subject matter along with musicals & light hearted plays. PCPA does it all!

By Jim and Susie |

Absolutely outstanding plays...they continue to "out do" themselves show after show. Prices are a little high for Santa Maria...I actually paid less to see a play on Broadway but it is pretty much the only show in town. Theater is generally excellent for viewing because of the "stadium seating", but don't believe it when they tell you there are no bad seats in the house. There are some on the sides where you are actually behind most of the action...these seats are bad. Get a better seat and you will really enjoy the productions.

By tbsmca |

I have seen productions of Les Mis, White Christmas, Peter Pan, and more here. Cannot wait for Wizard of Oz this November.

Zac Effron, Kathy Bates, and Robin Williams are notable alumni but everyone in the company is outstanding!

By SMFarley |

PCPA puts on top notch shows both in their Santa Maria theatre and Solvang outdoor theatre. If going to the outdoor theatre (even in the summer) bring jackets and blankest. They rent them to you, but bring your own. Pack a picnic and eat dinner before the show on the theatre lawn.

By Irene D |

For top-quality theater entertainment, this is where you want to go. The actors put magic into every show. Great entertainment.

By Jim R |

It was the best thing she did this past summer. She totally loved the experience. The whole family got to see several plays and we were all amazed by the talent in this sleepy little area.

By Martin M |

The PCPA in Santa Maria has for years been amazing. It's is part of Allan Hancock Jr. College, but don't let that scare you away. Along with the local actors, they have what they call "actors in residence". These are professional actors who are enjoying their craft and getting perks like teaching class (paid of course), free rent, etc. It was once (and may still be) the number 1 theatre of the round in the nation and has had such actors as Kathy Bates and Robin Williams (and many more)as allumni. If you want a real treat, see one of their plays in Solvang 30 minutes south. It's outdoor and an amazing time. You can also bring wine, food, etc. in, as long as it's not in glass(ony in the Solvang theater, you'll be asked to leave in the AHC theater in SM)! My wife and I just saw the play "Rivals" last Friday and it was the funniest play I've ever seen in my life-great acting, timing, story, set, and lines.

We attended the PCPA Solvang Theaterfest last weekend for the Monty Python parody Spamalot. The play was uproariously funny and we certainly enjoyed ourselves. It helps to be prepared though, for this outdoor theater that holds about 700 people. Tickets may be purchased online, by phone or in person. We attended an evening show (8PM) in early August in Solvang. Daytime temperatures can be in the 90’s, but situated in the Central Coast of California, the night time can be a real surprise for someone from outside the area. Temperatures can dip to the low 60’s to mid 50’s. We actually saw fog roll across the stage in the second act! So dress warmly. Long pants, jackets, hooddies and blankets are essential to keep you focused on the play rather than your goose bumps. Blankets can be rented there also. The Theaterfest also sells beer, wine and an assortment of goodies that may be brought into the theater. It certainly makes for an entertaining evening.

By LOwinemerchantcafe |

We are locals who make time to see at least one to two PCPA plays each season. Some of our most cherished family memories are watching the performances in the outdoor Solvang theatre while all bundled up in our blankets on a cool evening. This is a professional theatre company that continues to pull incredible talent and produce exceptional performances. Thank you PCPA! Keep up the good work!

By LisaThompsonkw |

This is a lovely venue and quality theater! Very good value for the money. Suitable for adults or teens.

By HawaiiloverChicago |

The plays and musicals at PCPA just keep getting better. They are doing SPAMALOT now. Saw it and it was hilarious. We subscribe for the entire season. They are remodeling the Marion Theater in Santa Maria so some of the plays are at the Solvang Festival Theater - an outdoor venue. Not a bad seat in either theater.

By JohnLinder |

The Wizzard of Oz was one great production and I would return to view it again if it were playing this month. PCPA really created a wonderful play with this one. Hope they do it again very soon.

By Linda P |

I took a group of 25 people to see the Brighton Beach Memoirs in Santa Maria. The theater was clean and beautiful, the people working were very helpful. My group rep Kelly was amazing and this production was OUTSTANDING. My group laughed non-stop. The cast was perfection.

By INDIATRAVELER95 |

I've been going to PCPA productions for more than 20 years. They are always first class. The staging of classics of the theater such as the "The Rivals," "A Flea in her Ear." and this one are rare and especially welcome. The Queen margaret role was done by the same performer that had done Mrs Palaprop previously. It was wonderful.

By FrogGirl83 |

The performances by PCPA are always great. They always cast the right person for the part. This past visit was to see Beauty and the Beast. Gaston and Belle were perfectly cast - both their demeanor and voices were just right. I loved the chemistry between all of the major characters.

By nocostcritique |

Really well done play. Professional acting and singing, beautifully choreographed, gorgeous costumes...just excellent. Hard to believe you're not in Broadway.

By Linda A |

Although we attend PCPA yearly it has been several years since we have attended a performance at the Solvang Theatrefest. We were thrilled with our seats and moreover we thoroughly enjoyed the performance of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”. The cast was superb. We will be returning again very soon.

By FunTimeExpert |

My wife and I have attended a number of plays both here in Santa Maria and in Solvang. Every play was superb. The actors at PCPA are every bit as good and enjoyable as those on Broadway and Hollywood. You won't be disappointed. But, be sure to select plays that meet your fancy, and take jackets, coats, blankets during the winter months if visiting the Solvang production.

By dinanorwood |

Ditch the movie theater and concert and get the best of both by going to a performance at PCPA! The amount of talent from the actors, to the singers, to the dancers, costume, stage and overall venue will astound you! Plan to be "hooked on Theater" and tell your friends. You must GO!

By Colleen G |

Solvang Outdoor Theatre was quite charming venue, will definitely attend another event there. Mamma Mia was good production, my other complaint was that some of the singing was just the right volume but other times could barely hear it. It appeared to come & go during the song. Maybe because our seats were top back row, not sure but hoping next time sound better

By DennisFamilyCorpus |

I grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley and try to return each summer to see my family. One of my first questions is, "What's showing at PCPA?" There is nothing more quaint and special than this open air theater. Not only is the acting and the set interpretation always impressive, but to watch while sitting under the stars, covered with a blanket, drinking hot cider is just too much fun.

In July 2016, we had 18 in our party to see Shrek the Mucical - with ages from 11-79. Everyone loved it and it was the highlight of our visit home.

By Ron Y |

We relocated to the Central Coast nearly 15 years ago and until last summer never attended PCPA in Solvang during the summer. I can tell you that after my first step inside this quaint, open air theater, I was hooked and new it was going to be a seasonal endeavor. The acting both years has been professional and one is left singing and dancing up the aisles upon completion. We sat far off to the side this year with seats in the middle obviously being better. If you attend once, and live in the area, I predict you will attend many times. If you're from out of town it's worth the destination (although I'd personally opt to not stay in Solvang but rather check out Los Olivos or Buellton or even Los Alamos). Solvang is as touristy as it gets, so if you like that sort of thing enjoy. Again, I would personally have dinner in Los Alamos or Los Olivos and leave enough time to park and get to the theater. This summer we purchased picnic items at the local grocery store (New Frontiers) and had a picnic on the lawn prior to the theater. We will likely choose that option for future plays. In summary: do yourself a favor and experience PCPA in Solvang. You will never regret it!

By Mbaprofessor |

My husband and two daughters (ages 11 & 15) have seen one production every summer for 5 years now. The productions are excellent and worth double the ticket price. The theater is small, open air and comfortable (bring a jacket or blanket thougj as it can get chilly evev during the summer). It is simply one of our favorite summer excursions.

We typically arrive the morning of a production, spend the afternoon strolling the cute streets and shops of Solvang, have some late afternoom wine at a tasting bar in town, eat dinner, and then head to PCPA. We stay at a hotel and then head back home (to LA) the next morning after a yummy breakfast at one of Solvang's many Danish bakeries.

By Bryan |

Good for small events like childrens plays. Not a bad seat in the place and ticket prices are pretty reasonable.

By Marian M |

PCPA is quality theatre on the central coast. From the artists in residence to the students and the tech crew, PCPA is always a good time.

By Lsiembieda |

Wonderful production! Amazing performance by lead actor. The California Central Coast is very fortunate to have PCPA❤️

By gaylestrip |

They have had one successful performance after another! This is a wonderful season not to be missed!

By Wintrs101 |

This small and intimate theater presents as fine a production as anything on Broadway! We've been attending PCPA theaterfest for over 30 years, and it's still the biggest treat ever.

By Cosmopolitan620344 |

PCPA is the best small town theatre offering great plays every season. Because this is a college Performing Arts Theater, the audience is able to see live performances of students before they go on and become award winning actors and actresses. The resident artists are some of my favorites!

By Marlena920 |

This is a live performance theatre. We were at their Santa Maria Show of
Mamma Mia. This was a fantastic show with a lot of talented people.

By Heidi F |

This local gem is fantastic! We were lucky enough to get last minute tickets for The Million Dollar Quartet ~ a fantastic play. The amphitheater is outside so either dress warmly or you can rent a seat cushion and blanket for next to nothing. They have beer & wine, snacks and bakery sweets from the local bakery. It was such a neat spot in Solvang to experience!

By RetroFan |

For decades we have enjoyed the productions here and they just keep getting better! They have a corps of talented professionals who work alongside students in acting as well as behind-the-scenes activities and the result is a top notch performance every time. The theater itself isn't huge so visibility is always excellent; plenty of parking and amenities make it easy to attend here. The direction, choreography, lighting and costumes are consistently excellent providing a polished performance to rival any Broadway show. In recent years, the innovative use of puppetry has added a new dimension to an old art form, giving it a contemporary freshness. See a show!

By Alison S |

Fantastic gem in Santa Maria. Puts on quality productions. It's a wonderful way to spend an evening, good for dates, or if the play is appropriate fun for a family outing. Their kid friendly productions are a fantastic way to introduce children to theater. They have a small wine and beer selection, including wine produced by the college. Clean and professionally ran.

By Carole B |

Wonderful theater, all the seats are great. We saw the matinee with a 10-year-old and a 7-year-old. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon, the costumes were great, the sound was perfect, the actors all did a very nice job. I loved the way the scenery was minimal but perfect. The cast seemed to be enjoying themselves, and gave a great performance.

By Michael G |

What a fantastic show. You can sure see the musical links to Hamilton. The cast each had a chance to show their talent and there was plenty of talent. We were just grinning through the whole thing. Plus, it is fun to go to an outdoor theater that is well run and organized. Just be sure to be prepared for the evening turning cold. That is part of the experience. We love the Heights!! Try to get there before it closes.

By nataliekL7579HH |

Having just visited New York, I have to say that Michael Jenkison's staging of "Newsies" is a masterpiece....just like a performance on Broadway. The dancers are amazing as well as the singing. Being a dancer myself, I was very much impressed, and I will continue to support this theatre of fine quality. Keep up the great work, and if you haven't seen a show here, make sure you don't miss out! You can chill in the lawn area with food and drinks and then enjoy an amazing performance under the stars.

By Zorro805 |

I've not been disappointed with the theater performances by PCPA and I've been to quite a few. Shakespeare and recent Broadway plays are presented in the round and in an intimate setting. The actors are experienced and the performances have been very professional. What a jewel we have available in this small town!

By kewlbreezes51 |

I have been going to productions staged by this college and group for over 30 years. They utilize the Marian Theatre at Alan Hancock college in Santa Maria and the Solvang Outdoor Theatre (in summer). I just saw their production of "Peter and the Starcatcher", which was excellent. I have a degree in Theatreso I am not a fan of overacting or cheesy live theatre. I have never seen anything resembling anything except high quality from this organization. You should go see one of their productions!

By susieQbee |

In the Heights was fabulous! Went with my adult daughter and she went a 2nd time a few days later. Alas, I was too busy to go again or I would have. Have seen big production plays in LA and SF and these actors were right up there. In the Heights was particularly fun.
Not a bad seat in the house and you feel almost like you are right in the action. I had a seat next to one of the open "tunnel" entrances and it was very cool to hear the singing resonating out from there as the actors came out.
We are fortunate locally-I am in Los Osos-to have these talented performers in a great venue!

By ann |

My boys took me to see Waitress for Mother’s Day and I absolutely loved it. I cried/laughed so hard and truly was living it. Amazing voices and acting. I’m going to the Solvang show this summer with a bunch of girlfriends so they can experience the pure joy it was to experience.

By Scott A |

With the new renovations, they enhanced an already excellent venue for plays. Add that to the high quality actors, this equates to a great cultural experience within almost everyone's budget!!!

By suzlevy |

Gone to Broadway shows and LA shows - PCPA shows are just as good if not better because there is not a bad seat in the house. The stadium style thrust stage makes you feel like you are part of the show. No matter what is showing, it will be great!

By Regina S |

I have gone to several plays at PCPA and all have been excellent! I highly recommend this venue. Many famous actors have trained here so you may see an up and coming star.

By viaggiaresmart |

This is our first time seeing PCPA performance and it won't be the last. Cannot believe the talents and professionalism we have in the central coast, lucky us. The outdoor setting at Festival Theater in Solvang was a nice change to the typical. Keep up the good work.

By Dee P |

Two theaters from which to choose: indoors at the Santa Maria Alan Hancock College, or outdoors in a replica of the Globe theatre in Solvang. EAven though it's summer in Solvang, its still ccccooolllddd when the sun sets (bring a blanket!)

Little Shop of Horrors

I went to the Sunday matinee, and I have seen this play four times. The first time was when it opened off-Broadway in Manhattan's East Village in 1982.
I can honestly say this is the best performance of this play so far. If you are lucky enough to get tickets prepare to laugh and be entertained the entire show!

We are so lucky to have this theater company and talent in our area! ❤️

By Shalom C |

My Daughter and I went to see Mary Poppins and were blown away by the actors and the props as well as the comfort of the theatre itself!!

By MyMeta4 |

We live in Santa Barbara and the last few years make it to at least two performances at PCPA based on much a given production entices us. We have seen nothing but wonderful performances. We have been very impressed with the depth of talent we have seen in the plays, especially the musicals. The small intimate theater with a rounded stage front that brings the performers closer in proximity to the audience really enhances the sense of connection to the energy and quality of the performance.

By Anne J |

We heard that "The Play That Went Wrong" was funny. Well, that was quite the understatement. All 4 of us said at the intermission that our cheeks hurt so much from laughing so hard. We had no idea what it was about (we just love this venue anyway), and I'm so glad we didn't. It was absolutely hysterical. Even if you don't see this same play, we've been to several over the years and they are fantastic. The skills of these actors and support staff are excellent, and we are so fortunate to be able to enjoy their work and passion is such an incredible outdoor venue (Solvang). Do not miss a chance to go. It's worth every penny!

By LT7744 |

We came up mid-week to Solvang to spend a couple of days. I had given the PCPA - Solvang Theatre Festival tickets as a Christmas gift and we made a mini-vacation out of coming up see to see the play "Mama Mia". The Solvang theatre is a wonderful site right in the middle of the downtown. Lots of nearby restaurants (all in walking distance) for a pre-theatre dinner. The performance and staging was first class. The Solvang theatre is a wonderful open-air site with intimate seating. To look up and see the stars at night made for a great evening of theater & music. Definitely will make the trip from the Pasadena area up to this wonderful summertime productions.

By vonthal |

We are regular customers of the PCPA. Their productions are unparalleled in the Central Coast. Major actors are regulars and invited to perform in superbly choreographed and acted plays and musicals. We recommend it 100%

By Theresa S |

A great production of outstanding actors with an amazing set. This was so funny and a heartwarming story. We frequent PCPA often and they always provide the best live theater.

By hikerm0m |

Every production at PCPA is high quality entertainment. They also have an outdoor theatre in Solvang that is especially fun during the summer. Their holiday show (November and December) is always a favorite.

By Michael C |

I've never seen a bad show at PCPA. That's too negative. I should say, Every one of there productions has been beyond excellent. This was no exception: moving story, good acting, excellent production. We are lucky to have Broadway here on the West Coast.

By Angelly2014 |

Great performances, well worth the price in spite of the uncomfortable seating. The actors are all very good.

By Dawn L |

Having attended several PCPA shows at the Solvang Festival Theater, I can attest to the fact that it is always a fun night out for family, friends, or even on your own. The shows are very well done. The theater is intimate. The bathrooms are clean. The refreshments are yummy. Definitely bring a blanket or rent one there. No matter how warm the day, it gets chilly when the sun goes down. Great night out any day of the week. Have dinner at a nearby restaurant or bring a picnic and enjoy it under the trees in the courtyard before the show.

By Keffco |

Outstanding production of SONGS FOR NOBODIES. One woman show with extraordinary ability to have the audience believing she is singers Patsy Cline, Judy Garland, Edith Pilaf, Billie Halliday and Maria Callas. Deserved long standing ovation at the end of the opening night. Don’t miss this show. Would suggest a sweater or jacket as the theater can be cold. Not a bad seat.

By Ralph B |

This is the most professional theatre group between Lon Angeles and San Francisco, their plays are always outstanding and in the warm summer months, they do outdoor theatre in Solvang which adds to the fun.

By Retiredtraveller27 |

Outstanding production of Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach. From the set, the theatre to the excellent cast, this was theatre at its very best. Top notch for a very reasonable $38 ticket price. Not a bad seat in the house in my opinion.

By Steve C |

Great local theater production... a variety of entertaining theater exceptionally well executed...

By MsUniverse |

I've seen quite a few performances ranging from drama to musicals
Amazing how this place can put out performances of high caliber
Performers are a mix of seasoned actors and students of acting, set design , etc
I highly recommend seeing a performance if one is ever in the central coast of California
It is situated in the Allan Hancock college campus in Santa Maria
Not be missed!

By BarbieOrlando |

While taking a week to drive the Pacific Coast Hwy, my husband and I took a chance and stopped in at the Solvang Festival Theater for an evening show. What an unexpected pleasure! Coming from Orlando (land of never-ending entertainment), we were shocked at the quality performance of the Pacific Conservatory Theater. It was a stellar show. Don't drive by this pleasant little outdoor stage- there are big things going on here! Newsies and Twelfth Night are still being preformed this summer. Grab your blanket (it gets a bit chilly once the sun goes down) and get your seat! You won't be disappointed!

By afk |

We recently saw In the Heights and it was super. Energetic singing and dancing delighted our senses. There are no bad seats in Marian Theater, and we look forward to seeing more PCPA productions.

By wrldtravelerami |

We are always amazed at the quality of PCPA performances. We feel so fortunate to live in a small town that produces stellar shows. This isn"t Broadway, but it is never hokey or amateurish. I never thought they could possibly "pull off" MaMa Mia, but they did it beautifully.

By SMGrandma |

We live in Santa Maria, so we are pleased to have such wonderful theater in our area. They have quality productions and reasonable prices for an evening's entertainment. We recently attended a matinee of "Freaky Friday". Thoroughly enjoyed it.

By Helen Y |

The best performance of it's kind I've seen in decades. PCPA is always number one. Don't miss an opportunity to see all of their performances.

By THOMAS J |

This is a rare gem if you like live theater. The main actor 's are premiere talents, and the 'students' are hard to identify they are on nearly the same plane with the pro's. I have been to small theater in many towns we travel to, this has been the best. Venues are fun,and intimate. The productions are always first rate, set are beautiful

By LovingLifeSoCal |

We saw Bright Star and laughed and cried. The acting, stag props, music and play were all well done. Staff were kind and helpful. It’s a small outdoor theatre with no bad seats. Bring blankets and coats because when the sun goes down it gets chilly. The food is good too.

By katarinaca |

highly professional shows! beautiful outdoor venue - love going here for music or plays - don't miss it!

By Tybeegeorgia |

These are professionals and it shows! The acting, singing, sets, choreography, stage management--and all those things I am not aware of that go into putting together such productions--are always stellar. I am so glad they are hear on the central coast to enjoy.

By jsofla |

First visit to the theater to see "Mamma Mia". All seats good. Production was delightful.
The performance was outstanding and gave new meaning to wonderful songs. Parking is available nearby.

By Ian D |

This was my playground as a child. My dad, brother and many life-long friends used to work there. Excellent theatre in the 70s & 80s. Not as good now, but good theatre for a small community, which gives it greater value!

Whether you are visiting the Solvang area or you live on the Central Coast, this is a must for everyone! The PCPA productions are always outstanding, there is not a bad seat in the house and the whole outside theater experience is just plain fun. But be sure to dress warm and bring a blanket as it will likely get cold. Live theater under the stars is fun for the whole family and makes for a great romantic getaway too!
