Great zoo!

By esm321 |

We were so impressed with this zoo! There was plenty to see, even with some areas being closed due to COVID and a great variety of animals. We liked that it was well organized, lots of shade, and walkable.

A friend of us told us that there was a fountain for the kids to play in, so I'm glad I brought swimsuits and towels, so be sure to do the same.

If we are ever in the Palm Beach area, we'll definitely be stopping here again.

Con: Coming from New Jersey, we were VERY surprised by the lack of mask requirements by guests. We just stayed away from those people.

A terrific experience

By Skip Y |

The zoo has a special going on now. Buy a ticket at full price and you can get in free until September 30. We only saw part of the zoo, but we are going back again to see the rest. There are employees walking around that will tell you about the animals. The zoo itself is very clean and neat and well organized. The only thing I did not care for were the prices of the drinks. $7.99 for a Bud Light and $19.99 for a half bottle of wine. Otherwise, A great place to visit.

great as usual

By Helen S |

love this zoo. not too big, not too small. easy to do in a couple of hours. we make a yearly pilgrimage and enjoy it every time. lots of benches to rest in between exhibits and lots of shade. we took our 3 yo grandchild and she loved it. we'll be back next year

Great zoo

By dlicari26 |

I have been visiting the area for years and never knew they had a zoo until a friend of mine had extra tickets she gave me. They have a nice variety of animals and birds, and all seem very well cared for. My favorite are the bears, one was playing and splashing in his pool while the other snacked on an apple. Definitely bring a camera and something to drink if you are going in summer, they also have a great splash pad for the kids. They do have a nice snack bar area, I did not eat there but they had your usual selections of chicken finger ect… I did notice they provided bug spray which I thought was very nice. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area and I think groupon is offering a discount. I didn't do the excursions because we didn't have time that day but check their website for an additional fee you can have a koala, sloth or anteater experience.

A nice place to spend an afternoon .

By Christopher C |

This is a cute little zoo that features a nice array of animals. You can experience the entire zoo in a few hours because of its smaller than average size. A nice place for children because it's not crowded or overwhelming. Admission is not cheap ($22.00) but look at it as a contribution for the care and maintenance of the animals. Lots of foliage so it wasn't too hot either. Great for families. We had a fun day there.

Waste of time ,only saving grace were the sprinklers at the entry where the kids cooled off
Expensive entry for what they offer

Worth the trip

By Tim F |

A very nice diversion from the beach. We spent about two hours taking in the zoo. They have very informative talks every half hour at different spots where the animals are kept. Great for kids and adults.

Great little zoo

By CamillaBjerke |

We spent a day here and thoroughly enjoyed it! Nice exhibits, great staff, good variation of animals. The zoo has a very cozy feel to it.
We saw the talk about the alligators, and keeper Rebecca did an awesome job!

Such a beautiful zoo

By iluvmy2grls |

What a really nice maintained zoo!! So many animals and very open. Not too crowded and o think we did get to see all of the animals! Participated in the otter experience. So cute and we learned so much! Definitely worth a visit!! Oh, and it's small so won't take up a large part of your day!

Shaded well and walkable

By Amelia8844 |

Great for little ones. Get up very close to animals. Many of the animals seem to be rescued or have been injured in the wild or orphaned so different than traditional zoos. Get there right as it opens and it is not busy at all. Parking is easy and free. Groupon has deals every so often.

Palm Beach Zoo Sloth Encounter

By Pam C |

Excellent, Michele ( educational guide) was very knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend this encounter with any animal lover. We were allowed to feed and touch Wilbur the Sloth.

Great day trip paired with the science museum.

By morgandr1992 |

We had a great time visiting the zoo, even though it was spring break it was not too crowded and most of the animals were easily viewable. We purchased the sloth experience and it was amazing. You get to feed and interact with her, we both highly recommend it.

Beautiful Zoo!

By Lisa C |

I brought my grandson and we had a blast! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the animals are well kept. I was never one to support animals in a cage, but when you read their stories of why they are there, it puts a tear in your eye and you’re just grateful that someone is taking care of these precious little creatures of God.
A bit pricey on the adult tickets and the food, but hey, they have hats in the gift shop when you totally forget yours 😳😬!
We saw every animal in the exhibit, at least one of its kind, except for the bears. Go early before it gets too hot since this is South Florida and it’s summertime pretty much year around!

Great time spent @ Palm Beach Zoo

By David B |

Had a great time at the Zoo. They have very nice exhibits with a good variety of animals and birds. If you are visiting the area it's a must see. Go early !!

Wonderful zoo in good shape

By jptruck |

Our family loved this zoo because there was a good variety of animals with some of the very popular big cats living in nice looking habitats. The jaguars and tigers were favorites but the tapir swimming below the footbridge was a nice surprise. There was construction happening on one of the habitats near some flamingos but we weren't sure what was being built. Based on the rest of this zoo's grounds, I bet it will be nicely done.
The restaurant was really delicious with a pretty varied menu. There was indoor and outdoor seating with a deck that overlooked a pleasant, wind-swept lagoon. Look for the turtles and catfish while waiting for your food to come up.
One of the most unusual animals was an albino alligator living in an indoor enclosure. That was something we'd never seen before at any zoo.

Great Zoo and great event

By Matt M |

We attended the Tom Petty Tribute Night and found the zoo and the event. The exhibits and variety of animals was much better than expected including our favorites the koalas. The food (bbq) was also very good! We would recommend the zoo for anyone in the area plus we had the plus of seeing The Petty Hearts put on a wonderful tribute to Tom Petty! Being from the other coast it is not really close but we will return!

Fun day trip

By Ahmandah |

Beat the heat and go early. Better yet, bring swimwear and cool off in the splash pad! We enjoyed the cafe to cool off also. The Kids loved seeing all the animals. Kids favorites: koala munching on eucalyptus, black bear taking a dip in the pool, flamingos standing on one foot, alligators disguised as logs in a swamp, even a white gator, oxilots, the otters playing & so much more! The panther was sleeping so not much to see there. Who knew porcupines could get that BIG?! Lots to see and a playground area for kids with a carousel (for a fee).

Zoorific

By Craig O |

The zoo was terrific. It was clean and easy to get around. The terrain was flat and offered plenty of shade. The animal were relatively close for easy viewing. Agood place for young kids and the elderly.

Nice little zoo... !!!!!!!

By JP D |

Nice little zoo!!!! ...Been 10 years since I had been many things they had were gone like the reptiles area which was now part of a gift store on the back walls... Many many new improvements the paths/deck were nice way of getting around as the animals had more space in there homes :-)
Some really nice Decorations, Statues, Touches had been added...Sadly it was a hot day and many of the animals were hiding in the shade. Plan on staying the day if you want to see it all and might have to take another trip or two around the 4 sections they have it broken down too to see some of the animals. I also hid inside the Cafe twice for Lunch and later for a early dinner as the cold soda was great. Good food too. Nicely done could give a place like Fridays a run for the money was a highlight of the visit and reasonable! Refillable drink once as to the vending machines $3.00.
Right next to the cafe was a Concession stand with all kinds of treats, ice cream :-) as seating all around the area!
Part of the main entrance they have a Play fountains area so can bring your bathing suits mostly for the kids but saw some parents playing there with the kids :-)
Again a nice little zoo was something different to see and do. Lot of walking but lots of areas to sit and take a break. Considering the hardships this zoo has faced over it's years with money issues... They have done good for themselves! :-) Lots of birds/ducks and Turtles. Lots of potential to grow and even become a nicer zoo if they had the money/donations! Well worth a trip to see :-)

Wonderful

By Heidimarie T |

This was so much better than I had expected. Animals were out alert and I view at all times. They have interactive shows about every hour, and also have a small cafeteria for cold drinks and light food. All in all was a wonderful experience

AWESOME experience / Creepy Cool Reptile Experience

By daniel m |

Just want to say - I went with my animal loving, reptile obsessed 5 year old Son to the Creepy Cool Reptile Experience (available Fri, sat, Sunday)

Rebecca met us early - and she was so awesome. Super friendly, super knowledgeable about all animals - and my son loved every second.

Even as a grown up, it was really cool to see behind the scenes of the zoo's and the other animals (reptiles) that were not on display.

If you have a child that loves reptiles/amphibians/creepy crawlies - this is definitely worth checking out.

Not that impressed

By Joan C |

we were not that impressed with this zoo. The layout takes you around in circles and often you can not really see that much. We are adults. I imagine that kids might still enjoy it. Lots of birds and ducks. free parking. high admission. have been to better small zoos in florida.

What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon

By Jeanne M |

Lovely little zoo in a tropical environment with a variety of attractions. Loved the flamingo exhibit last time I came (it was closed on our most recent trip), the albino alligator, the koalas, sloths, the big cats..feeding the birds..and cooling off in the big fountain in the middle of it all! Admission to places like these are always a good investment in education and conservation, and one that I'm happy to pay. This is a must visit if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed.

A day at the zoo

By Ronald A |

The Palm Beach Zoo is a compact but wonderfully designed county zoo. It has and impressive collection of exotic animals, most of which are housed in natural environments. While the size of these environments could be increased, what is there is in good shape. The animals a well cared for and seem happy in their individual enclosures. The zoo has plenty of trees and vegetation making it bearable in the Florida heat. There are facilities at which to get a quick sandwich or a hot meal. Another attraction for the young at heart is the wading fountain in which they can cool off.

Extremely disappointing.

By NewYorkguy411 |

Real review: extremely disappointing! Very, very few animals and in many of the enclosures you have to really search to find even a single one. Lame is the word that comes to mind. I find it hard to believe this place would have anything higher than even three stars, and that is being generous. The setting is very pretty but it all ends there.

Cute Zoo!

By Ccfx2935 |

While this zoo is much smaller than the zoo in our home city, we still really enjoyed our time here. Really enjoyed the way the zoo was set up, and the fact that animals were really visible in their enclosures. We visited on a zoo boo occasion without realizing it, and even though the lack of parking was evidence to how busy it was, the exhibits never felt “overcrowded.”

Don't waste your money!

By likesto2travel |

We love to visit zoos when we travel to new cities. This was one of the worst considering how expensive the admission is. I can understand that not all zoos can maintain the larger animals. But if a zoo doesn't have giraffes, elephants, lions, rhinos, or even zebras it shouldn't be charging 23 bucks. There were 5 of us and we were there less than an hour. So if you're expectations are low enough and your happy to see a lot of birds and a few monkeys then you'll be happy. But if not, you won't.

Great please to go kids have great day family enjoy all day experience great job for the place good job nice enjoy veryy

By Voyager543657 |

Great place very nice experience I enjoy the place my kids n joy the place and the family have for the first time

Very enriched enclosures and beautiful zoo, healthy active animals, and extra personal close-up animal experience.

By Pook B |

I went to the zoo many times, but wanted a close-up encounter with an animal. They have a couple different experiences and i went with the sloth one. Damian was extremely intelligent and knew his sloth (who's name is Wilbur). We got to feed her, take pictures, and feel her fur. She was very relaxed and super cool in person! The rest of the zoo exceeded my expectations and we visit there quite often now. They have tons of talk shows and activities! I really recommend visiting the zoo, your patronage goes towards conservation and the zoo animals. The zoo has many conservation programs and is really making a difference!

A Complete Waste of Time

By Jon C |

We live in West Palm and took our grandchildren there a couple days ago. We were bitterly disappointed. Other than the one worthwhile exihibit - the tigers - there were few animals of any interest that were visible or interesting. It was dirty, expensive and poorly attended. The giftshop was a joke - the last straw. We will never be back.

Zoo

By David R |

I didn’t eat there and can’t attest to the kitchen. Although the animals look content and they have a large variety of species. All of the viewing areas are good for finding the critters no matter where they’re hiding.

Such a lovely family zoo

By The_Bentons_UK |

We visited the zoo primarily for the Koala encounter. It was such a lovely visit with very friendly and informative staff.
Highlight was definitely the koala encounter but also the Lorikeet walk, where we got to feed them, get walked over by them and pooed on!
Was a great temperature when we went in January and plenty of tree cover for the summer months.
Nice restaurant and a couple of shops.
Great family zoo if you have youngsters

Fun zoo trip

By Catrice L |

This place was so much fun. They have so many different animals to see an some unique ones as well. Such as a white alligator named Marti. And a fun water spot to play in an cool off. And an awesome exhibit that you can feed birds and they land on your hand and drink out of the cup :) and the best part of it is most of the animals were rescues that could not live in the wild anymore or were seized from illegal poaching

up close accessable

By lalou222 |

it was a great family visit with all the animals seriously accessible, the paths were clearly marked, one would wish for larger spaces but it is virtually downtown, staff was personable and friendly
it bit amazing considering it is almost downtown
eat before you go or take a picnic

Enjoyable afternoon

By 111kat111 |

I found this zoo to be above average for the conditions in which the animals are kept-appeared clean and spacious. The staff were knowledgeable, enthusiastic in sharing information about the animals and visibly present throughout the grounds. I do think the admission price is a bit steep...there are coupons available in tourist brochures for a few dollars off the $25 price. We didn’t have them, did ask if we could still get that discount and was denied. Disappointed since would have been a good gesture, easily granted but still enjoyed the outing.

Perfect trip

By Bo Lomeli |

My family and I were looking for something fun to do over the week for vacation. This Zoo was a great idea. All the animals and their habitats were so well kept. There was lots of shade so even though it was a hot day, most of the animals were out and viewable. There were many hands-on exhibits. This Zoo was the perfect family trip or even just to go by yourself and see all the animals.

Low quality zoo

By JustAnUnknownTourist |

Me and my family went to the zoo while on vacation. I noticed all the animals had little space to move around and the animals all looked depressed. They shared the space with other animals which might result in conflict someday. Also the prices were too high and it wasn't worth there. Back where I live the entry prices are at least half of what we payed and all the animals have plenty of room to move around and their own place, plus I have never seen any of them look depressed. If you're going to Florida never go to that zoo.

Easy day or half day

By Susan G |

Highly recommend a trip to the Palm Beach Zoo. This is a mid size Zoo, not too tiny or overwhelming and huge. Very impressed with their credentials in Species Survival Plans and World Wild Life conservation. Lions, Tigers , & Bears ! Also a white alligator, kimono dragon, jaguar , Florida panthers , and a koala exhibit. The Wings Over the Water Show is wonderful. Bring a bathing suit for little kids to play in the water plaza. There is a changing booth available. There is a cafe for a sit down meal on the premises, a snack bar is next to it for treats or simpler menu items. Remember Florida is very hot in the summer months. The Zoo does have some shaded pathways to walk on. Demonstrations and talks are ongoing throughout the day, a map tells you when and where.

Horrible

By Theresa |

Absolutely horrible experience at your zoo today. We went to the carousel (first thing we did)and they told us that my daughter had to pay and my mother can stand next to her. They get onto the carousel and they tell us that my mother has to get off of it. They say it is a state law. Where exactly is the state law because other people were standing on it and the height of a child does not mean that they can do things on their own. If it is a state law, can you tell me where to find it? In the past week I have been standing on a multiple carousels with my daughter since we arrived (in Florida).
So now this gets my daughter upset and we end up having to get our money back and leave. We headed back to where we are staying so she can lay down. So thank you Palm Beach Zoo for ruining our day.

Picture attached of your website. Carousel - fun for all ages? No - it is not.
Where is the law?!?!?

A ZOONORMUS EXPERIENCE

By Captain1002 |

This is one of the most interesting landscapes for a zoo. You are immersed in a local tropical oasis.
The animal collection in not overly large but well diversified. Great for children without wearing them out. They will want to go back again.
Congrats for a job well done.

Zoo Time

The Palm Beach Zoo is a perfect place to go with children. It has tons of shade. The fountain at the center of the zoo entrance is awesomely big and clean. Getting a membership is the way to go if you live in the area.

Koala Experience - a lifelong dream to see them!

By Wendy K |

While visiting my longtime friend Rhiannon in Florida, we took a trek down to Palm Beach Zoo to check see Koalas in person off the top of my bucket list. I was elated to visit with Katherine and Oz who were such sweet gentle creatures. The zookeeper was kind, informative, patient and helpful. They provide a photographer (your experience includes one photograph and you can buy others). It was just amazing to me to not only see my favorite animal up close and personal but to also learn about them; and Kathrine even ventured over to the eucalyptus to eat and pose! The rest of the zoo is fun and full of beautiful and interesting exhibits, well maintained and fun to explore. I really liked the layout of the zoo and the way the animals are grouped together if they can be. The otters and lemurs were fun to watch! Thank you for the wonderful experience and I will definitely be back to visit your koalas again someday!

Great Small Town Zoo

By Mrlipstick |

Wamderful wandering between the exhibits. You are part of the experience. Very children friendly and interactive. Has a great tiger habitat. You will walk away with amazment from some of the animals, they each tell their own stories.

Fantastic Small Zoo

By philrey |

We love the Palm Beach Zoo. When our children were very young, we would buy a yearly membership every year and we would go to the zoo at least once a week. If the kids became restless, we would go to the zoo, they loved it. The zoo has wonderful exhibits, some fun shows, and one of the best large cat exhibits in any Zoo. It is also laid out very well. There is plenty of shade, and You can walk the entire Zoo in under 2 hours.
If you like Zoos or have children and are looking for something to do, you have to go to this zoo.

Great for kids and family

By Nagosto80 |

Great zoo to take the kids and any family. Price wasn't too bad when we went. Zoo is small but there are a lot of animals to see and kids really enjoy it. Staff are friendly and helpful and will answer any questions you may have on a certain species.

Wonderful local zoo

By N W |

The Palm Beach Zoo is a local gem. This zoo feature awesome exhibits , incouding a local historic home, many varieties of animals and even a mini water park. I am pleased to have been a member.

SLOTH Experience is one of a kind!

By Michelle Z |

We absolutely loved the Palm Beach Zoo. We arrived early to have an opportunity to walk around before attending a Sloth experience. We truly enjoyed learning about all of the different species, their origins, and other very interesting facts that were conveniently located on signs in front of each enclosure we passed. It was easy to see all of the animals from where the walking paths are, which has been an issue at other Zoo's we've visited, but not here. As for the Sloth experience, it was truly one of a kind. Our host Damien was so knowledgeable, personable and his passion shined through. We were a group of 8 people and each one of us had the opportunity to take photos, pet, and even feed Wilbur. She was such a gem and surprisingly comical ! It was very entertaining to hear all about her life at the Zoo and how she came to be a full time resident. In addition, she is very well taken care of which was very comforting to see and learn about. We were also able to see three other sloths in enclosures when we walked around in the beginning of our visit. So if you're a Sloth lover or even just an animal lover this place is a must. Thank you Palm Beach Zoo for a great experience, we will be back soon !

Holiday Lights at the Zoo

By AMMSoFL |

What a treat! We get hungry for that Christmas feeling here in South Florida and The Palm Beach Zoo put on a festive display of lights to fill us up!
They have Santa Claus, marshmallow toasting, and more to make the evening extra special.
My favorite is a peacock of changing colors that reflected on the pond.
What a perfect way to spend an evening and support the local zoo!

Great visit!

By Kim H |

Our main purpose in going to the zoo today was to go to 2 animal experiences. Both experiences were outstanding! They were very informative and Michelle and Rebecca did great jobs ! During the tortoise experience,we got to feed and interact with the Aldabra tortoise. It was so much fun and so informative! Rebecca answered any questions we had and showed much love to her tortoises . We then explored the zoo for a while until we went to meet Wilber the sloth . Wow what an amazing time. Michele taught us all about the sloth such as foods , habitats environmental issues that can effect them. There were plenty of picture taking opportunities as well as their own photographer taking pictures that were available for sale at a reasonable price. Both experiences were outstanding !

Fun place to visit!!

By travelgetsbetter |

We obtained a Groupon for this but if you don't get that then paying regular admission is still worth it. The staff that we interacted with were friendly. We enjoyed walking around the zoo and seeing all the different animals. I especially liked seeing the koala bear. The zoo is a great place for people of all ages to visit.

Always a great day

By gtrgrl288 |

Returned to the zoo with family after a few years and not disappointed. We had a range of kids from 6 months to 14 years old and everyone had a great day. It is an easy zoo to navigate with lots of shady areas. The exhibits are clean and most of the animals are easy to spot. Decent on the go food options and a sit down restaurant as well. Kids had a blast cooling off in the splash pad at the end of the day. Never disappointed when we go. Great way to spend the day.

Great place for kids.

By CarolB |

Granddaughter was thrilled seeing the animals particularly the flamingo’s 🦩. She dressed all in pink to meet them. The sprinklers for the kids was such fun!

Zoo experience

By jcress32 |

Zoo is magnificent. Animals are well taken care of given plenty of space. Zoo is well shaded and walkable. We did a Sloth Experience that was outstanding. Kids got to hold and feed the Sloth. It was a 30 minute experience that I would recommend. Offer experiences with 4 other animals. Have been to many zoos with grandchildren this was up there with all of them.

Amazing sloth experience

By Tanya C |

My husband and I were very excited to go to the sloth experience at the Palm Beach Zoo and we were not disappointed. Damian was a great host, providing us with lots of information about Wilbur the sloth and allowing us to touch, feed and take selfies with Wilbur. A professional photographer also took photos for us to take home at the end of the day. The zoo itself was fairly quiet which allowed us to move around and see the animals easily. The lady in the gift shop was extremely helpful with organising our photos with Wilbur. It was a great day out and I would strongly recommend the sloth experience for any sloth-lovers out there.

Very sad.

By Connector00135796916 |

Besides the price that they charged us everything inside was closed all the animals were put away but didn't get we finished the park in an hour besides the little water park that was there that was worth it was the birds feeding the birds there was no monkeys there was no animals all the animals were away. And almost all the exhibits were closed. The stores were closed the the gift shop was nothing in there. At least if or half of the exhibits are closed and this we can't see certain animals that are out why will you charge this so much money to go in there.

Love This Zoo! Perfect for a Day's Adventure

By FLParrotlady |

I've been to the Palm Beach Zoo many times, but it had been almost a year since my last visit. It has always been a lush tropical park, so I was worried that Hurricane Irma in 2017 had caused irreparable damage to the beautiful landscaping. I shouldn't have fretted--the amazing staff worked wonders. There are obvious changes where large trees toppled, but it still was a joy to wander. As for the superstars--the animals--they all seemed content and well cared for by the attentive Keepers we observed. Each enclosure was clean and many had enrichment items to keep the critters engaged and stimulated. It was a cold day when we visited, and we saw that many of the animals had heat lamps and extra bedding for their comfort. We went to our favorite Wings Over Water show. Keepers Maura and Callie highlighted Darla the Southern Ground Hornbill, Picasso the King Vulture, and Sarah the Seriema. Darla is a personal favorite of mine--such a striking bird with gorgeous eyes! You can tell the Keepers have a close relationship with these birds--they are patient and let the birds do their routines in their own ways. I then visited the new Lorikeet Loft. It was late on a busy day so they had stopped selling nectar as the birds were full. But I still loved walking through the pretty garden path surrounded by these vibrant birds. But beware--I have parrots so I didn't mind having one poop on my head, but some visitors might not be thrilled by that. There is a sink and towels, though, by the exit of the Loft so you can clean any unwanted "deposits." But the highlight of my visit had to be meeting the newest celebrity there: Katherine the Koala. She made a long trip from California to meet Oz, the resident male Koala at the Zoo. She is lovely! She and Oz mainly slept the entire time I watched them--no surprise for koalas--but they moved occasionally and graced the visitors with a yawn or two. Keeper Stephanie gave an informative Koala Talk where we learned even more about the species. One thing I always notice about the Palm Beach Zoo is the emphasis on Conservation in the Wild. The talks are focused on what we average folks can do in our own lives to improve the lives of the creatures in their native habitats. Many of the animals here are unreleasable for various reasons. The Keepers strive to impart advice about the dangers of keeping exotics as pets, because so many wind up in dire situations. This is a lovely zoo. I've been to other zoos where you walk long distances in the blazing sun. The Palm Beach Zoo has many lush shady paths and is small enough to cover comfortably in a day. There is a huge interactive fountain in the middle of the zoo where kids (and kids at heart) can play and splash on a warm day. There is a carousel (small extra charge) for rides. There is a pleasant cafe where you can eat indoors with a good variety of food choices, but there is also a food counter service next to it for quicker options. And there are plenty of spots to sit a spell if you get tired. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon.

It was ok …

By JazzinInJersey |

If you coming to see Lyons, Tigers and Bears forget about it. They hide & we wondered f they were even there. Some exhibits only had only 1 of the species , unless a mate as hiding … they had a few unusual animals . Best exhibits the Lorikeets where you go inside and make sure you buy the $2 cup of food ! So cute. They fly onto your hand & eat from
Your cup !! If you are fearful of flying birds, just walk through & watch others feed them

Great day out!!!!

By Linda M |

My grandchildren and I spent the day at the Palm Beach Zoo and it was a wonderful day!! There are many things to do besides seeing the animals, many in their natural habitats. Go, by all means!

Visit

By Krysk |

Enjoyed my visit to your zoo.it appeared neat and clean.I was there first thing in the morning so it was nice to see animals out and moving around. Disappointed the sloth exhibit was closed.

Had the most AMAZING day!

By Victoria B |

We spent the entire day at the zoo and it was wonderful! The animals and their enclosures are incredible and make you feel like you are in a tropical forest. The handlers are very knowledgable and happy to talk to you and give you information/backstory about the animals. We also decided to do the Sloth Encounter which is $35 but you get to take LOTS of photos with Wilbur and can feed and pet her. The encounter also includes a professionally taken photo for each person. They have a bunch of animal encounters that I definitely want to do in the future. Can't stress enough how great of an experience we had at the zoo and the animals are very well cared for (don't worry!).

Just an average smaller zoo

By Andrea G |

This zoo was just so-so for me. We enjoyed the visit, but found it disappointing coming from our world class zoo in St. Louis. When most people think of a zoo, they want to see elephants, rhinos, hippos, zebras, giraffes, gorillas, etc. This zoo had none of those animals. However, they did have some cool black bears, loads of beautiful birds, an active capybara, a Florida panther, an ocelot, a koala, and a tiger. It's a smaller zoo and the lay-out could have been designed better as many paths abruptly ended only for you to turn around and head back to where you came from. The zoo was clean and masks were not needed when outside and able to socially distance from others. The bathrooms were clean. The splash pad was an awesome touch for the kids! There was only one small cafe open with outdoor seating and the carousel, nature playground, and train were closed due to COVID. Overall, it was fine....just not great.

Decent Zoo, Poor Customer Service

By TravelingClayton |

We visited the zoo today, and parking was a nightmare. I follows the signs around the building that said additional parking. I only found an area that had been assigned to valet. One of the valet parking employees came up and rudely told me the lot was full and said I needed to stop. I told him I needed to turn around first, and then he apologized. Once we got inside, we went straight to the food window since it was lunch time. Two of the cashiers were arguing with each other. We waited 20 minutes without our ordering being filled while others behind us were getting their food. We complained and they finally started our order. The animal exhibits were decent, but the employees were unpleasant.

Excellent!

Awesome little Zoo!
Just big enough for my girls to have ole ty too do but not overwhelming, after the walk they played in the water fountains..

I took my kids to this zoo many times when they were growing up. But we hadn't been there for years. We were looking for something festive to do that was new & different from what we've done in past years. So we went to Zoo Lights. The $15 admission was a little steep for what you get. Being night, obviously most animals weren't out. Some that we saw were sleeping. We did see 1 ocelot and a couple squirrel monkeys that were active. We were able to get a close up view of the alligator & the white alligator. But that was about it. So really, you're just paying to see the lights and I was expecting more. Only half the zoo was open and the lights weren't all that spectacular. Maybe since this is their first year, it'll be bigger and better in the future. It was a quick night. We were in line before the gates opened at 6pm. We ate in the cafe and visited the giftshop and were out the gate in less than 90min.

As for the zoo itself, much has changed since we'd last visited. Many reviewers complained about the smell & small enclosures. Only the ocelot enclosure had an odor. I didn't notice any others smelling bad. I also didn't think the enclosures were that small. You won't find many of the traditional "big" animals here...with the exception of the tigers, but it is quaint & shady, and my kids always enjoyed it. Have your young ones wear their bathing suit under their clothes & let them play in the fountain!!

Fun day at the zoo

By patsmom1 |

This is the perfect zoo for younger kids. The exhibits are very close to each other so there is no long walk to keep your children entertained. We really enjoyed the areas where we could feed the birds and wildlife. The flamingos were spectacular. Don’t expect to see elephants and giraffes but this zoo has plenty to wow you. Throughly enjoyed the day and the zoo.

Very pleasant surprise

By Jim R |

This zoo is very clean. The animal enclosures were clean, very large, very diverse. Many of the animals are 'rescues' that for various reasons are not able to survive in the wild. The zoo does a great job of telling the stories of rescue/rehabilitation on the placards near the enclosures. Pretty good diversity for a relatively small zoo.

Worth a visit when in the area

By Frank P |

The shows are particularly good: you can get up close with the animals and the speakers make it fun.

A nice local zoo. Staff very helpfull and grounds are clean.

By Gerald G |

A nice local Zoo Staff attentive and Zoo is kept clean. There is a good selection of animals and plan to take the children they will enjoy the Zoo.

You can get so close to the animals!

By CodyNDansTrips |

This zoo is fantastic, especially with smaller kids. It isn't large, so it doesn't take more than an hour or two to see everything. There are so many animals of all different varieties, the zoo is well kept and, best of all, you can see them all up close. I suggest going earlier in the morning, as I think the animals tend to find shade and sleep as the day wears on and the sun gets stronger. Great spot! Favourite zoo!

Nice Zoo

By Monica2941 |

We went late afternoon after a downpour, not a lot of people were there just camps. It was nice, some of the exhibits we couldn't see anything. Not sure if the animal was hiding or it was empty. We walked around in an hour and a half with my 13 yr old daughter.

Nice selection of wildlife

By tyzon12 |

I was impressed by the many exotic animals I have never seen. The pace is clean and nice to visit with the family. A little crowded even on weekdays, but you can enjoy yourself.

Nice Little Zoo, Without The Crowd

By JaydieGee |

Went here in the morning, specifically for the Koala Experience. It was a perfect time, because we beat the heat, the crowds, the kids, and any other unpleasantries that usually go with a visit to the zoo. ALL of the staff were lovely (except for the couple of clerks at the food court, who were clearly miserable and we could not pry a smile out of no matter how hard we tried). It's definitely a small little menagerie, but a great way to spend a few hours!

Sloth encounter

By Mariah Carol J |

My husband and I had the privilege of meeting Wilbur the 2 toed sloth. She was such a fun animal to meet! She slept until her handler started talking about food. Once she heard the word food she was awake and looking around for where it would come from. The group was small and we all got to go up and feed her multiple times, even got to take “slothies” ( sloth selfies). Definitely a must do if you go to the zoo!

Interesting Visit

By Lizvacation |

We visited the zoo on a rainy day and it appears to be more targeted to families and children. We walked through anyway and saw some very interesting fish! Recommend for families!

Beautiful zoo!

By AlaskaPlease |

First of all, they will hold your suitcase for you- a huge plus if you are on your way to or from the airport!
This zoo is well laid out. You won’t get lost and you will see everything if you travel from one zone to the next in a circle.
Super clean, well taken care of, with nice touches everywhere. No ugly fences or paths- everything is lovely. Birds, waterfowl, and turtles are lurking all over the place.
This zoo has the rare combination of large, well designed enclosures that still allow the guests to see the animals. Cheerful, clean, spacious living areas.
Everyone who worked there was nice and helpful. Lastly, I appreciate their efforts toward being a zero waste facility! They are not just trying to showcase animals; they are teaching about conservation and helping the planet.

Nice zoo

By Mousefan50 |

My son and I visited the zoo while there for Spring Training. A pleasant surprise. The presentations were informative. The lorikeet display was fun.

A wonderful way to celebrate nature

By Tricia G |

I had a lovely time with my sister at this Zoo. It wasn’t too big or too small. The Peacock was extraordinary beautiful when it showed it’s magnificence. And the Tigers were beautiful. We loved the Gift Shop too; Stephanie was quite the saleswoman! We ended up purchasing beautiful souvenirs that were unique treasures. A portion of the cost went to charity. Great job, Stephanie! It was a fun day.

A fun time

By Jeffrey F |

I needed some time to relax due to a death in the family. This was a perfect escape for a couple of hours.
A great variety of animals in clean enclosures. The staff was friendly and answered all of my questions. I have worked with large cats and volunteered in several zoos so I was curious about some of the behind the scenes things.
I loved their lorikeets feeding and was in there three times. I had never previously seen new guinea singing dogs live so that was a thrill.
I signed up for the koala encounter. I was sad that there was a no touching restriction but to be standing inches away from this beautiful animals was a wonderful experience.
The grounds were clean, the enclosures and animals well maintained.
A great experience I highly recommend this experience.
Great job to the staff.

Great family day out

By Anne B |

Good fun for all the family, well run and the keepers were extremely enthusiastic and animals very well cared for. Lots to do.

Really Good Zoo!

By Joanne13018 |

My husband and I visited the zoo. We visited early in the morning. Lots of the animals were out and the enclosures were in very good shape. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We were able to see the panthers being fed which was a treat. It was very easy to make our way through the zoo. The trails were well marked. Keep up the good job.

A great way to spend the day

By Ricofah |

A great day out for the family with a variety of animals to see including quite a few exotic and endangered ones. Lots of birds and tigers and even a rare albino alligator.

Flamingo Experience

By Dori-Anne F |

We had the pleasure of visiting your Zoo last weekend. The zoo itself was very nice and we enjoyed seeing so many different animals. What was also so nice was to see how caring and loving all your staff is to the animals. But our main reason for our visit was to have the Flamingo Experience. It was more than I could have even imagined! First our one on one visit with these amazing birds, learning and just interacting with them was my dream! Especially Catalina - she was just so sweet! Then onto the flamingo parade - just amazing! Thank you so much Palm Beach Zoo and your wonderful staff! We had a "flamazing" time and will definitely be back!

Great Zoo for Kids!

By Scott M |

We loved this zoo for our kids! We had a almost 1 and 4 year old with us. The first thing we noticed was the layout of the zoo; hub style broken into 4 zones with a central hub being the interactive fountain for kids (and adults) to play in. With our kids, we went until we hit a wall and only chose 3 out of the 4 to walk around in. They all had a blast. The favorite was the tiger during his Lasor treatment time. Rejuvenating his muscles and we were so close that it was amazing. Never been that close to a tiger before. This zoo was highly shaded from the sun! Mid 70s in March, and we never felt overly hot. The flamingos were a hit as well. Everyone that worked there was very nice and informative about the animals!

First time visit

By ThompsonDM |

This was our first visit, even though I'm a native Floridian. It was a crowded holiday Sunday. We had to wait for a parking space to open up since the earlier crowd had not yet left. We stayed for nearly 2 hours. It was a hot day but there is a great deal of shade. Many of the kids were playing on the splash pad. None of the exhibits were overcrowded. We saw most of the animals. We especially enjoyed the Panther and the bear. The koala was at the vet. We liked the set up of the zoo. It wasn't too much walking, but there are plenty of benches everywhere.

Another world to visit

By Tomoko M |

Jungle landscapes were absolutely breathdtaking to all visitors. Vast and grand Jungle and pond with wild nature of all sorts of kinds were abundantly displayed. This is a definitely must visit spot for any age group of people. We enjoy tremendously.

Not traditional Zoo

By Veronika K |

I like that Zoo because i can see giraffes, elephants and other big animals everywhere else, but here i saw first time in my life capybara, anteater, tapir and more.
Also the scenery is something what i was interesting in. The butterfly garden is cute, carousel is funny and also i saw free peacock and you can feed parrots if you want.
The only big cons are admissions fee, 22$ is a lot, because we are in West Palm beach, we dont need to pay crazy money (like 3$ for bottled water, in a grocery u can get it for under then 1$) 🤨

Just okay.

By Davidkul |

Nothing special. Some exhibits were fine and others the animals were missing. Not worth the high price of admission.

Very good!

By Kari |

This zoo was great! Lots of animals and they were so close to see. The workers were friendly and knowledgeable- even offered info as they were feeding or walking away. The grounds were clean and beautiful.

Great zoo

By Nanda |

I visited today - so many things were not available because of the covid. But this is a cute zoo, with water play for kids. I would love to see it when the carousel and train were available.

Animal torture

By Benjamin |

This place is a perfect example of why most zoos are torture centers for animals. This place houses hundreds of animals in tiny cages which clearly drives depression. If it were humans we’d call it torture.

They try to dress this up by adding conservation to their title but there are much better ways to support conservation.

Don’t give them money (I didn’t we got in for free).

Lovely manageable zoo

By dznlady |

My 5 yr old grandson really enjoyed this zoo, and it was not too much walking for these two grandparents. Big cats, monkeys, koala bears, even a bald eagle.

Easy to cover. Places to eat. Not overwhelming.

By bendeb49 |

Great place to take the grandkids. Varying exhibits. Different habitats. Easy to do in a few hours. Don’t miss the nearby Sciece Museum.

Fantasy land supreme!!

By tamjan |

This zoo absolutely blew me away. If i could give it 10 stars, i would!! It is deceiving from the outside because you think it's small ... but its HUGE!! Its a bit like Seaworld meets Legoland meets Disneyland. It's a total resort, complete with different worlds based on the animals and birds found around the planet. They have every animal imaginable as well as soom very interactive sections where you can feed them or play with them. There's a cafe, many gift shops and plenty of restrooms. I loved the Mayan section where they recreated ruins, temples and huts. Wear walking shoes and expect to spend 3-4 hours!! Bring cameras! It is $50 for two adults. Kids less expensive - this is fantastic for families! Plenty of benches and strollers.

A Tropical Paradise

By Jeffmcline |

What a beautiful setting for a zoo! It feels like you’re in the middle of a jungle with the scenery just as attractive as the animals. Hard to believe that you’re in an urban area in Florida rather than somewhere in the Amazon. It’d be a shame to go to Palm Beach and miss this lovely, intimate zoo.

Old zoo, poorly set up attractions

By isisjordan |

Very disappointing exhibits, animals seemedcdepressed in their tiny cages and glass rooms. Not very clean, poor set up and dead ends left and right. Animals there aren’t very exotic for fl as we usually see about 70% of the animals showcased there in our backyards and lakes. Our kids were barely able to see any of the animals due to the overcrowded exhibits obscuring the view of animals. Just overall poor set up and very outdated. The food was AWFUL and extremely overpriced. Disney prices for food and it was worse than cafeteria stuff... we will not be going back.

Great local zoo

By Star1029 |

I’ve come here as a kid with my parents and I’ve taken my son his whole life to. Great local zoo. Always been an animal lover

Lovely excursion

By Meryl M |

We went to the zoo after checking out of our hotel and before we had to go to the airport. It is quite charming, with a lovely assortment of animals. The volunteers are very friendly and the place is educational and fun.

An exceptional surprise

By The Pidge |

While I love all zoos, medium-sized ones like this one are typically my favorites- I appreciate not being overwhelmed with too much because it makes me feel pressured to see and do everything. The Palm Beach Zoo satisfies my desire for organization- four main areas can be accessed from a central plaza containing a fountain and they all loop back to it, making it easy and relaxing to explore each section. Speaking of, there is more to see here than initially meets the eye, and some areas feature elaborate and impressive theming. It was a joy to turn each corner and be greeted by creative decor and signage that featured just enough information to be entertaining and informative. I can't wait to return.

Terrible and Sad conditions for the Animals

By Elizabeth B |

I am freaked out. Terrible zoo enclosures for the animals. Not kept up at all. Super sad depressed animals in small dirty captivity. This zoo has a great potential with the location and the layout but everything else was deplorable. They should be ashamed of themselves. The gift shop was a mess with boxes stacked to the ceiling and you couldn’t even walk around. What a strange place … the water attraction at the entrance seemed to be the only reason people were there and why not just take your kids to a splash pad or pool. Won’t be returning. ever.

Local Tropical Zoo

By AndreaUbok |

Beautiful local zoo with a nice selection of local & exotic animals. This small zoo is beautifully landscaped & most of the animals surroundings were equally attractive. We saw the Florida panther, alligator, cranes, flamingos and pretty pink spoonbills. Enjoyed the Australian koalas & kookaburra. The birds were awake, vocal & atttractive. Most of the mammals were pretty unconscious; a zoo keeper shared that there haven't been many visitors & much attention.
We went during the Coronavirus, there were many soap & water washing stations throughout the zoo. There were a lot of birds & reptiles along our path. Admission is $25 for adults & $19 for children. Children under 3 and parking were free. We went for free using our Chase Arts & Culture Pass.

A beautiful mid-sized zoo worth visiting

By musicalmin |

What a lovely zoo! We had a great family afternoon, saw many active animals, good-sized creatively built enclosures, and absolutely beautiful grounds. The layout of four sections with a water splash pad in the center makes it easy to orient yourself. There are lots of cool, shady places to walk and sit so you don't get overheated. If you imagined a well thought-out, midsized zoo in Florida, this is it. Great to see some animals we don't have at our local zoo, like the capybaras, koalas, and panther.

After reading some reviews I was worried that it would be hard to see animals my daughter was excited about, or that we would be done in an hour. When we left after 2.5 hours we had rushed through a bit to finish.

The standout feature was the care and educational value of the keepers. They clearly work hard and enjoy teaching the public about the animals living here. We came across animals - bears, bald eagle, tigers - being fed or cared for and got to learn and ask questions.

The zoo is not cheap. However, we have been to many zoos over the years and it's a fact that most zoos and museums in the US are really expensive unless you have memberships. I'd bet local families with children have yearly memberships to this zoo and come very often, especially because of the splash pad.

Our only issue was the outrageous cost of the drinks and food - not in line with other zoos we've been to recently. This did seem inexcusable and if food/drink items were cheaper, I would have given a five star review.

We definitely look forward to another visit next time we are in Florida!

Great zoo experience

By Christine B |

Great place to visit you should definitely check it out if you’re in the area. My families favorite part was feeding the lorikeets they jumped on your arm and they would eat nectar out of the little cup my kids really enjoyed that. There’s a lot of hidden wildlife everywhere so be sure to keep your eyes open so if you’re looking and exhibits still look around for other animals other than what they have listed because there’s a bunch of iguanas that just go from cage to cage and they’re really cool to look at.

Depressing Day

By Naphtali H |

Poorly maintained small zoo. We spent about two hours here and saw all of it. The place was really shabby and not well cared for. It was not cheap. The zoo in Binghamton NY is more interesting and in better shape. We did not see one exhibit that showed any originality or creativity. The animals looked we’ll cared for and had plenty of room. There were no shows.

I suggest make my the drive to Miami

Beautiful zoo

By michelle k |

Very beautifully designed zoo. Small size, easy to manage with young kids. Great water feature play area so bring swim suits and towels. Only complaint is we wish the dippin dots stand would be open longer. The lady came for a few minutes at a time and we missed it so my kid had a melt down! Lol

An incredible and life-changing event awaits thee, at this amazing and incredible place!

By westpalmjo |

Actually known as the Drether Park Zoo when I was a youngster, 50+ years ago, has always been a five star first class place. I am so old I go back to the days of Toppie, the 7,000 lb Indian elephant was one of the top attractions for people going, also Hammer, the black bear, who was on the Gentle Ben TV show, and the Himalayan Sun bear, and the most amazing, colossal collection of animals ever. None of that has changed, and it has gotten much better. Admission is a nominal thing, as you get more than your moneys worth at this incredible world class zoo. Your children will benefit immeasurably from all of this exposure to the different animals from all over the world. Everything about the Palm Beach Zoo, at Drether Park, has gotten better and better, as time has gone on, with many, many more animals to look at and enjoy. My now adult daughter got so much out of her visits here several times as a child, and I have been attending this incredible facility since I was a child. You are surely missing out if you do not partake in the incredible Palm Beach Zoo at Drether Park.

Sloth experience is great!

By dlar0cca |

Nice size zoo, not to big. Something for everybody. The sloth experience was so much fun!!!! Wilbur is super cute!!!❤️❤️

Amazing Place!!

By Goldenlover2012 |

The zoo was nothing short of fantastic! The animals (many of whom had experienced prior injuries that would prevent them from surviving in the wild) are very well care for by a knowledgeable staff. Although the layout of each of the five “lands” was a bit confusing, the areas were manageable and we were able to see all of the animals. The zoo offers almost a dozen expert talks throughout the facility on a daily basis every day...our favorites were the Tiger Talk and the Wild Things Show. The absolute best part of the day was our Sloth Experience (for an additional fee). We got to meet, touch, and feed Wilbur and she is awesome! We also had photos taken with her and each received our selection as we exited the zoo at the end of the day! Not to be missed!!

This is a great Zoo

By Dani D |

We have had so much fun at this Zoo. They do special nights over the summer. They call them Safari nights and it's open at night so you can observe the animals in the evening instead of the heat of the day. Their behavior is different and it's a very relaxing time. They have different bands and sometimes food trucks and it's just relaxing and wonderful environment.

need more maintenance

By dianne_tjm |

went there yesterday with my friends, its huge but for me the regular price of 24.99 is not worth it, its good for us because have 50% discount bec. it was raining a little bit when we came in , its not pouring so it was nice bec. its not hot to walk around the zoo, for me its dirty and needs more maintenance, we dont see animals that they claim its in there, maybe sleeping or i dont know, but since were there already we did enjoy the zoo i was amaze with the bear though 2 of them were sleeping that time, not much souvenir items in the souvenir shop.the zoo is accessible from 195 not far from the exit.

Not good for animai care.

By Rico |

This place is terrible in every way the water where the animals are is so bad smells terribly the plve looks rundown is a sad place to visit

Nice place

By RicardoL3 |

I went to this zoo on a Monday. It had few people, which greatly facilitated the tour with small children (one of 2 and another of 6 years).
The zoo is well maintained and clean, having few stressed animals (I counted two species).
The diversity of animals is great and there is space for interactivity with birds, in which we can give nectar and they come in our hand.
It's a program that could be done in two hours.

Great zoo!

By kelz350 |

This place is beautiful and interactive. We spent all day there. Lots of great animals to see and you can tell they are taken care of.

Great small zoo

By Toddpet |

We were very impressed with this small zoo. Lots of unique animals and lots of fun things for kids including a splash fountain. The park is very clean and has great tropical plants. Great place!

Nice day at the zoo

By Paul S |

Loved how the zoo is sectioned off into different loops so you can visit one section at a time without missing anything. All of the loops meet at a small sprayground area for the kids to have fun in on hot days. It's not a large zoo and doesnt have as many larger animal breeds so you'll be able to get through it in about three hours. Very well laid out, clean and friendly staff. I bought tickets that allowed us to visit the science center next door too at a combined discounted price. You may need to ask for this. The employed at the science center didnt offer prices or package deals until I mentioned it first.

Escape to the Tropics

Entertaining walk about filled with animals, shows and unforgettable settings has drawn tourists and locals for years. Well maintained and interesting. Season passes available.

Nice show but parking nightmare for 45 minutes

By Joe B |

The parking is a nightmare with improper directions and long walks. Per se the lights at the zoo is a nice event. Bear in mind prices are quite high, a beer is $13

We carefully followed the instructions for parking. Since parking close to the zoo was full, we had to drive all the way to the other side, to the Science Museum. Those parking spots are small and it was already busy, but we managed to park our car safely. Then we started walking. Unfortunately, we were then stopped by parking attendants from the Science Museum and were told that because we were going to the zoo we would not be allowed to park there. Even though the signs said to park there. By now we had spent about 15 minutes trying to find this spot.

We had to leave again and drive back to the zoo. It took a while to get there, or rather the park south of the zoo, but once we finally got there the parking attendant guided us into a small parking lot that seemed full. So, I asked if there were still spaces and he said yes. Once we entered the small parking lot it was completely full, not only with cars parked but also with cars having been directed there. So, it was a nightmare situation where it was very difficult to turn around and exit. The attendant kept sending cars to a full lot that now had every square of asphalt covered in cars. It was a parking drama. We finally got out and found a spot on the grass somewhere else. Of course the shuttle that was supposed to drive us to the zoo had just left. So we walked all the way to the zoo. All in all, it took about 45 minutes from arrival to actually getting into the zoo.

In this case it was just my wife and I, but I can imagine the nightmare having to do this with little children or even a stroller.

Smaller, shady zoo - great family day out

By Sarah S |

As far as zoos go, it’s on the smaller side, but great to get through with young elementary age kids on a hot Florida day. There is a good bit of shade, and a splash pad area to cool off. A wide variety of animals to see as well. My kids loved the tigers, koalas, and anteaters, and many more! They also liked the playground as well as the carousel (just FYI carousel is additional cost). We just moved to the area, and ending up buying season passes so we can enjoy all year. We plan to go back soon!

Sloth Experience

By Julia B |

This was a great experience! Bryan was awesome, very informative!! I really like that the cost of the experience goes directly to the animal you are experiencing! In Wilbur’s case we are helping her get a new habitat!!

Awesome place!

By Jana C |

I have visited a lot of zoo's throughout Florida and I have to say this one is the greatest! It's a small zoo, but staff is great, friendly and maintain their animals. A great family spot and a must see in west palm beach!

What an incredible place to spend the day

By Charles B |

The Palm Beach zoo is well kept with easy to navigate walkways . The animal enclosures are well kept and the animals seem well care for . A great family day . The white alligator was very cool .

Buy the Dual Zoo/Cuz Science Museum Pass

By Nicole F |

This is a nice zoo with an easy to follow set up. It's a bit very large so you can do the whole zoo in a couple of hours. We highly recommend feeding the birds, but purchasing and sharing one cup is plenty! We also recommend buying the dual pad for the Cox Science Museum next store. We easily did both in the same day and it was only a few dollars more.

Bonus! Free mini golf in the Science Museum's outdoor area.

Was not even worth going for free

By Tinka23 |

I went in September and the kids got in free but I should have stayed home. Not many animals/exhibits to see. Most of them just laid around. Absolutely no excitement whatsoever. This zoo needs a major makeover or it should just shut down. The kids were bored the whole time.

By teejenn |

Like that after you pay to park, you can leave and re-enter w/o paying again. Zoo is charming even without elephants. Zoo is shady and built on a hill with great views. There's also a water park in same complex.

Tortoise Private Encounter

By Lavenderrose |

We took our 3 year old and she had a very good time. This is ideal for young children but probably not to exciting for older children or adults. I hate to say that because everyone was so nice however the number and types of animals isn’t very extensive so if you are looking for photo opportunities there aren’t many.
We did the Tortoise Encounter and our expert was really good. However, the overall cost for entry and encounter is a lot.

Fun family experience and lots of animals!

By Corey E |

Love this place. Lots of different animals and I love how shaded the place is. They’ve been working on building and adding more and it’s a great place to spend a few hours if you love animals! Lots of fun!

Great habitats but missing some animals

By Michelle M |

This is a nice, small zoo. The habitats were very well put together. I wished we could’ve seen more animals - many seemed to not be out on exhibit when we visited, including the tiger. Enjoyed the flamingo walk - they were so close! Just the right sized zoo for a family with small children! The big water fountain would have been a big hit if the day were warmer.

Great time at the zoo

By Cliff |

Great zoo ! Went with our son and his wife and our twin 2 yr old grandsons. Although being alittle young for a zoo trip, our boys loved it ! They went on the carousel, played in the sprinkler, we saw two shows besides all of the regular exhibitions. Which by the way were very well kept and clean. You must enter the parrot feeding exhibition, outstanding!

Disappointed and felt very sad for the animals

By Dana D |

This is surprisingly sad. There is something very wrong here. The cost of admission is very high. $100 for 2 adults and 1 senior. Animals all appeared to be listless and sleeping, hiding or no where to be found.
Everything is a bit run down and just looks minimally maintained. Snack bar again, way over priced. $50 for 2 orders of fries, one burger, and Mac and cheese. No drinks. For dropping $150 for 2 plus hours stretching the time, definitely better choices.
Where is the money going? Not for the animals or their benefit.

Wonderful way to spend the day

By Lisa5bee |

We just spent the afternoon at The Palm Beach Zoo and had a fantastic time. We booked the sloth experience and we were so happy thst we did. Damian our guide was wonderful, very informative but the star of the show was definitely Wilbur the sloth. We got to feed her and touch her and she hung out (literally) with us for half an hour. We will definitely book orther animal experience, they have a number of others. The zoo is very well set up, easy to navigate at a leisurely pace. Everyone was friendly and helpful and we can't recommend it enough. They have a lot of events there also tonight was a food truck night, but they also do roar and pour and brew at the zoo so check out the website for those hidden extras.

Hidden gem!

By DeeP67 |

I went to the zoo for the Koala Experience and am not disappointed. The koala experience is at 12:00 and I opted to arrive early and see the rest of the zoo. The staff members and volunteers were very friendly and helpful. I had a great conversation about the bears with one of the volunteers, he was eager to share his knowledge. The zoo is small but a nice variety of animals and shows but to be honest, I was there for the Koalas!
At 11:50 I arrived outside the koala exhibit with 3 other ladies and met Kelly, the photographer. She was so informative and fun! Then Tabitha arrived and brought us into the enclosure (after going over a few of the rules). She was very informative about the koalas and allowed us to get up close and almost personal with them. (You are not allowed to touch them or the leaves they eat and if they get down from the trees, we would have to leave the enclosure). She is very in tune with the animals and was able to tell us about the personalities of Oz and Katherine. For the most part, Oz napped but Katherine showed off her personality all afternoon. She moved a lot, modeled and posed on a couple of branches and was quite entertaining.
These animal experiences are an additional cost to the zoo admission and quite honestly, may be too low but I am a big supporter of small zoos so every penny they made off of me was money well spent.

Capybara experience

By Tiffany C |

I enjoyed the opportunity to meet a capybara in a small group! Very special memory. Fun to learn interesting facts and we fed Iyari banana leaves. A bonus was also leaning about the tapirs too.

Expensive and Over-rated

By GoPlaces59070632143 |

Not impressed- over priced!- two seniors and two children under 12 - $137; one box popcorn $9; two waters $10; two pretzels- $18. Total: $174.
Saw- one brown Bear sleeping; flamingos; birds; three Koala bears; a few alligators; 2 Florida panthers; a few small animals. No tigers; few small monkeys
No elephants; no hippos; no lions; no gorillas- essentially no large animals you would expect to see in a zoo that is worth going to!
Sorry- very disappointed

Great Place

By joefrommass |

This is a nice zoo. They got rid of the shows though. I don't know why. Plenty of animals and a splash pad.

Ok for a two hour experience

It was ok, but nothing too exciting. It was a good two hour experience with a four year old and one year old. It was clean, and people were friendly. Most of the vendors were closed and many of the exhibits were closed.

Great Capybara Experience With Michelle

By austin_manghan |

Because I’m from New York it’s not everyday that you get to see such an exotic animal. I got to learn anything I could’ve wanted to know about capybaras with the help of Michelle. Doris was truly a beautiful animal and much more than just a rodent. Even besides the experience there were many strange yet eye-catching animals like the ant-eater and the weird bear+elephant things. This is a destination to remember that I’m sure I’ll return to.

Be cautious especially with small childrenSerious safety incident

By Caroline A |

I have been coming to this zoo for the past two years with my son. It’s not the best with the upkeep of some things but it’s close and gives me and my son something to do during the week. I’ve seen things that could potentially harm my child and I would steer him away. Accidents do happen but on Friday January 26, 2024 I was left horrified at the injury my son received due to the negligence of the zoo. He was eating lunch and looking at lizards when he hit his head. When I realized he wasn’t calming down I removed his hand and the blood started pooling down his forehead. I rushed over to where he was standing and on the fence there was a post that had fallen off and was cleaned up yet they disregarded the rusty screw that was sticking straight out and had now punctured my 3 year olds head. When I went running to find a zoo worker to call first aid as we waited she thought it was appropriate to tell my son, as the blood is coming from his head and he’s crying, that “it’s not as bad as a shot”. When I looked over at her she said “just trying to lighten the mood” there is nothing to lighten the mood when your three year old has just had a screw puncture his head as he is rightfully upset and in pain. Once first aid arrived we cleaned up the wound as best as possible during this time another zoo employee walked over asked if this is the kid and then walked away only to say on the radio that “everything is fine. The kids okay. Nothing bigger than an eraser head”. While in fact there was nothing fine about this and wether he was okay was still unsure until he was checked by a doctor. After I spoke with the security guard he said “I’m glad I have the staff here to fix it so it doesn’t happen to another child” to which I replied “it shouldn’t have happened at all” and he slightly shrugged his shoulders and said “well…”. I went to the hospital right after to have the wound properly cleaned and to make sure the screw didn’t puncture too far into his head. Luckily for everyone at this time he seems to be okay. I am extremely displeased with the negligence and lack of care during the time of incident from the zoo. This is a place for children to come yet the maintenance bar is set so slow. I would be extremely cautious while coming here especially with your small children.

Zoo is small & over-priced.

By TennizGirl13 |

Lots of construction going on - fenced off zones. Did not see a lot of animals as it was the heat of the day. It’s a pretty small zoo by regular standards. This zoo is good for toddlers based on what I saw. Enclosures looked kind of small for the animals. Save your money. Tried to get a add-on specific animal tour and they only had 1 space left in each time slot - they don’t allow a 10 year old to go with the group nor would they add me in so she could go - so the spot was left empty as most people are travelling with a child or someone. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Great layout

By Matthew M |

One of my favorite zoo's I've ever been to. Perfect size, laid out very well with tons of shade. Our little one loved the big fountain in the middle of the park. Staff was also very nice.

Fantastic

By CWjupiter |

We hadn’t been in about 4-5 years and they have done so much! Our now teens had a lot of fun going around checking out the new and very improved exhibits. I was so impressed. It was a great afternoon. The lorikeet enclosure where you can feed them in a controlled area was so worth it. They just fly around, land and drink. We spent about 20-30 min in there while we each had our cup finished. If you’re in the area- highly recommend our zoo. You can comfortably get through it in about 3 hours. I think we’ll be back sooner than I thought!

Beautiful Small Zoo

By Stephen C |

The Palm Beach Zoo may be relatively small but it's first class all the way. The animal enclosures are large and well maintained. The zoo as a whole is clean. The food is... okay. The employees were friendly and chatted with us as they went about their work maintaining the enclosures and feeding and inspecting the animals.

This is a highly recommended, family-friendly place to visit.

Fun and enjoyable

By Lassie6872 |

We actually started our day with a visit to the zoo. It was an extremely hot day but seeing all the beautiful animals so close helped us to ignore the heat. We got some amazing photos. There are a lot of areas of shade as you walk around and a very clean cafe/restaurant if you need to relax. There are many places to get snacks and drinks and the restrooms are kept very clean.
There are 3 areas and this is great for both children and adults.

Do the Sloth Experience

By 987rachv |

Wilbur the sloth was amazing to learn about. Brooke our expert was very kind and knowledgeable and it was the highlight of trip. Kids are adding Wilbur to our family tree ha ha! The zoo is a great size very doable and the shows weren’t too long or crowded. Excellent facility.

Great Layout and Collection of Animals

By Shane G |

This zoo is a little on the small side, but has a great layout that makes it enjoyable, even on hot days. They have a good variety of animals and shows throughout the day. We have found membership worth the expense and have always had a great experience there.

A visit with the grandchildren

By beprepared8788 |

We loved our trip here even though some exhibits were closed due to COVID restrictions. The children loved the fountains, gift shop, and exhibits.

Lovely zoo

By raymolbert1 |

This was a lovely zoo. My sons (8/9) loved it as well as my husband and I. It’s not the biggest zoo but it’s well laid out, they offer take and feeding of the animals. Very educational. The enclosures are nice sizes and the animals looks cared for. These are animals that can not be released back into the wild for various reasons. This is the kind of zoo, I will gladly pay to visit! Would highly recommend! We stayed for about 3 hours and saw everything!

A Zoo for Every Age

By mfontaine60 |

This is a very unique zoo. They have exotic birds from all over the world. The fuzzy black bears and tigers fascinated children of all ages. The lecture times are posted everywhere so it’s really easy to stop by and listen to them.
A really fun time for the family.

Fun for kids

By islandgirlinstuart |

We visit this zoo every summer and the kids enjoy it. It is quite nice and a decent size; you can probably walk through in less than 2 hours. However, it is very hard to see some of the animals/exhibits, and during our last trip (two weeks ago) we didn’t see any of the “exotic” animals. Also it is rather heartbreaking to see the koalas confined to their tiny indoor rooms.

A superior zoo under lush tropical vegetation

By Nomad |

Superior to other zoos in south Florida such as the Miami zoo and the Naples zoo. Here you will find a tight concentration of surprisingly numerous animal and bird displays within an extremely lush and shaded tropical canopy. The zoo appears to be old enough for mature growth of the botanical attributes. The vegetation beautifully compliments the diverse fauna. Another aspect that I have noticed is that the animal and bird displays are also in close proximity to where one can examine the animals and birds carefully. I would suggest going on a weekday during school months when crowds and children are more sparse so that you can better appreciate the peaceful splendor of this wonderful zoo. The staff are extremely friendly, and, by examining the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the entire location, one can see the pride that they take in this place.

BIG CATS!

By Pumpkinhead44 |

Fantastic!
We really enjoyed our visit today to the Palm Beach Zoo. We were looking for things to do in the area when we found out we were very close to the Zoo.
We really loved the BIG CATS here! The Malayan tigers, the jaguar, the panther, servals, and the ocelots were out favorites!!
Also we did not have to walk a lot to see the whole zoo. There was so much packed into a manageable area that this zoo was doable in like 3 hours. Also most of the paths are shaded so the Florida heat was bearable.
Highly recommend! We will be back!

A delightful place to visit

By Wardnick1 |

This is a well kept and pleasant zoo that is well worth a few hours of your time. They have some tigers, a panther, many sea birds and other exhibits.

The Flamingo Experience!!!! (Yesssss!!!)

By Annette D |

Was given the gift of a Flamingo Experience at the Palm Beach Zoo... wow! The docents were very knowledgeable and fun... learned lots AND got to feed and interact with the Chilean flamingos!

They only allow 6 people per interaction so you really get direct interaction with the beautiful pink gods and goddesses!

Huge Let Down!

By KevNayNay |

Extremely expensive for a very small zoo that has mostly birds and monkies. Quite a few exhibits had no animals. Felt the upkeep of the facility was poor. Almost $10 for two bottles of water!

Save a little money and visit the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne where it’s cleaner, larger, and can interact with some of the animals like hand feeding the giraffes. Or for those who wish to support a good cause and/or on a tight budget, visit Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter.

Nice zoo

By jandtscott8716 |

Smaller zoo, Nicely shaded. Good for families with small children. Decent array of animals. Just a little disappointed that a few exhibits were closed and both live shows were not happening the day I visited.

A really nice zoo

By David C |

This zoo is not the largest but, is very good. To take children, if there are several is very costly.
I hope the management realizes that for a large family, it could be difficult for many to visit regularly.
The exhibits are well done although some are a bit small. The children do love going but also like Bush Wildlife in Jupiter just as much, even though smaller.

Free parking, and lots to see. Not quite Lowery Park Zoo in Tampa, but it has a lot going for it.

By SXM |

Highlights--panther, leopard, and surprisingly well-done Mayan ruins--chac mool, temple, carved stones. Nice wetplay area for kids if it's hot. Glad we went.

Good little zoo great staff

By KeithLBPI |

Great little zoo with animals from 4 regions. No elephants giraffes kangaroos(I like kangaroos) or rhino's but still a perfect zoo get away for a few hours.

Tad pricey but good for 2 months. Wild things show wasn't able to happen due to staffing issues but the impromptu show created was still very entertaining and informal. Great zoo keeper who did it.

A great thing to do in West Palm!

By Brian C |

This is a reasonable priced thing to do in the area. They have great animals, fun activities, and they also have a water play area for hot days. This is a great place especially if you have kids!

Kool way to spend and hour

By Nicole B |

Small zoo, but lots of shade and walking exhibits... the water pad in the middle makes a nice place to let the kids cool off.

Best Zoo

By Léo Galassi |

We've been to lots of zoos, but I can't remember one where the animals are better kept.
This is really a great zoo. Small, pleasant, very nice staff.

What a day!

By frg8328 |

This was worth the long drive from FLL to West Palm. We especially enjoyed the bird exhibit and the one on one feeding time with them. The fountains were a great way to cool off after a long day before heading home.

Amazing for family’s!

By James M |

Once you enter this zoo, you will be meet with a splash pad and small vendors. Under three arches there are different sections for animals based on where they live. Each animal has a beautiful exhibit and they seem well taken care of!

If u like birds

By richard s |

I love going to zoos. Its one way u can see animals that u otherwise what never get to see. The beautiful birds from Australia were fantastic. The flamingos were terrific.
However, the other animals were rare.
Some monkeys, an alligator, a puma and koala bear.
I found the people working there were very knowledgeable and more than willing to spend some time with me answering questions.

Perfect Zoo (review by Bruce The Zoo Guy)

By bruce p |

This zoo is just absolutely gorgeous. It's around $20 to get in but is worth every penny. Parking is free. They do some nice themework in this zoo may have a nice mayan area that has a jaguar, komodo dragon and others. They have a nice Florida area with great enclosures for there alligators and other animals. Awesome tiger exhibit where they have 3 tiger cubs about 10 months old as of April 2021 . They were playing in the river when I was there. There is plenty of coverage on the trails to keep you nice and cool. Couple a nice little cafes. The staff is very friendly. The animal enclosures don't look like just fenced in settings they are all nicely done and they have plenty of area to Roam. I really like the Florida panther. And they have koalas though that exhibit wasn't much more than a Box enclosed, wasnt too thrilled with that . I like the sloths. No elephants or giraffes but overall nice selection of animals. Highly recommend this gem of a zoo. See pics

Palm Beach Zoo 2024

By DadFlad |

Return visit again this year..We always visit zoos ...Philly..Atalanta..San Diego ect. This is a very nice local zoo with some very attractive animals...Their Bears and Big Cats are quite amazing! You will never get this close to the big cats in any zoo and their surroundings are such that even mid-day they are unusually mobile

West Palm Beach Zoo

By Patrick S |

Loved it. After many years, we finally went to the West Palm Beach Zoo and had a great time. Ideal for kids. It is not huge and visit can and done in a morning.

One on one zoo experience

By KarynCT |

A great opportunity to visit w/ animals up close and personal. After an amazing time with 2 of our grandchildren/ we knew it was a must when our others visited from out if state . The staff is extremely knowledgeable- friendly & makes the little feel very comfortable if by chance there’s a bit of shyness . There is an extra charge for this experience but in our opinion well worth it !!

Nice and just the right size

By MikenJimPA |

This zoo is he perfect size to spend 2-4 hours. on a nice afternoon. If you plan you day with time for lunch you can walk the entire zoo and see a few feeding and short presentations. There is plenty of shade and places to relax through out the zoo. The food was typically priced and basic. They do offer a indoor air condition option with wait staff and a few more items on the menu. Parking can get full easily, but its free.

If you're in the area it's worth a visit

By Skip Hicks |

Decent way to spend 4-5 hours. Went on a weekday so it wasn't very crowded and quite a bit to see. Could deff use some upkeep/updates but it's clear they're steadily working on various exhibits and improvements. Didn't have kids with us but I think they would've enjoyed more hands on and interactive parts but given the current pandemic I can understand why those are removed or limited. Not a phenomenal zoo but worth a visit if you're in the area like we were. Prices in the food court/restaurant are a bit outrageous ($15/beer, $5/fries) so if with a family it'd probably be better to bring a lunch or eat before going.

Wonderful local zoo

By Ellie H |

Wonderful local zoo. Both our grandchildren enjoy themselves and their ages 3 1/2 and 12 years old. We will certainly go again.

Fun Small Zoo

By BucketListExpl0rer |

We visited the zoo when we went to West Palm Beach for Thanksgiving week. It was a small zoo that was easy to walk through in a couple hours. My daughter really enjoyed the carousel ride. There was also a train ride available. There were a few school groups there with some misbehaving LOUD children around the fountain area, but overall, it was a great experience and we would recommend visiting!

beach fatigue

By Indiana2025 |

i was in town for 2 weeks on vacation. was tiring with the beach and the place i was at so i went on down to the zoo. i was not disappointed. think it ran close to 26 bucks for entry. one of the smaller zoos for a big city. but certainly had very nice plants and trees everywhere. glass windows for viewing and an island with monkeys on it. even has a place for feeding lorikeets. free parking and walking within the zoo isnt bad at all. the zoo in my hometown is hell with its hills. this is a very nice walking zoo. bit pricy but worth a visit.

Perfect

By Virginie L |

We enjoyed our visit but we would have liked more explanations regarding the origin of the animals and why they were there. Some had them. Very nice visit.

Long winding tree covered paths to see the animals.

By Where-2-go-4-help |

Free parking. There's a zero-entry splash fountain with changing areas.

There's an indoor air conditioned restaurant.

There's some small rides.

Creepy Cool Experience

By Gina E |

Super fun and new experience! We had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see where some of the animals are cared for and we assisted in feeding some dart frogs. We learned some cool things about creepy crawlers. And best part, we encountered some pretty adorable reptiles and an even cuter armadillo! Would definitely recommend this experience! Have already done the capybara experience as well and was not disappointed. Plan on going back soon to scratch all the encounters off our list!

Great zoo

By Rodney H |

I’ve been to this Zoo about a dozen times and the guy from NY who said it was torture is either on drugs, or a plant for some whacko organization and has never been there. The animals are NOT in small cages but in natural habitats, and the place focuses on conservation efforts. Shame on Trip Advisor for letting something like that be posted without validating, and shame on the guy from NY for trying to sully the reputation of one of our local gems. Totally false!

Great start to our Florida visit!

By Theresa B |

A trip to this beautiful zoo was just the event to start out our Florida trip! Nine of us enjoyed roaming through the clean, well -managed zoo. It was a good mix of animals from birds to bears. The zoo was well designed and laid out. I thought it was interesting the way they incorporated imprints of ferns, shells etc. into the cement path. We all had a great time!

Good time!

By spearkaren |

Loved it! The staff was super friendly and welcomed any questions you might have about any of the animals. Very interesting and learned more than I thought I already knew. Very interactive and I would definitely go back!

Dear Michelle

By Thomas R |

I surprised my girlfriend with the Sleepy Sloth experience. We had a rather rude family with us and Michelle as well as the photographer whose name we did not get did an unbelievable job. Despite the UN- Bear-Able people, we had an amazing experience. The staff was all very polite and well trained. This zoo is almost four hours away from where I live next to Lowry park zoo and it IS 100% worth the drive I recommend this to everyone. We had an absolutely fantastic time and it was due to the amazing facilities and the wonderful staff. They even have zoo keepers that are scheduled to come to almost every exhibit and tell you about the specific animals their names a little about their personalities as well as information about the animal species if people were unfamiliar with them.

False advertising/not teen friendly.

By Nada K |

A small, but nice zoo that can be walked through in an hour. You can take a change of clothes and let the kids play in the water fountains. We went because the billboards said children are free for the summer. When we arrived we discovered that it is two children per paying adult and they have to be 12 and under. One adult for four children, three above 12, the expense was much more than expected. Then we couldn’t go into the aviary unless I left my purse outside. Tried to let my youngest go in with my oldest, but they have to be sixteen to take a child. We ended up not going through it. Was a disappointing day for the family. Would not bother with teens.

A Mediocre Zoo...not bad, but not Great!

By Gary S |

I must be spoiled by having lived in Philly (great and 1st zoo in USA), St. Louis (Awesome and FREE zoo), Phoenix (nice zoo but close to San Diego and visited that zoo many times) and now we live in West Palm.
The zoo is not bad, just not great. No real "exotic animals"...just the normal ones that you would expect to see.
Good location off of I-95...not expensive. It is a nice day out. In the SUMMER it is too hot for the animals to be very active (so go in the early am). More activity in the Winter. Easy to walk in 90 minutes or so....it is a relatively small zoo. There are some interactive shows, so make sure to get the schedule when you enter.

Flamingo Walk and Sloth interaction

By USLover1 |

We Booked the interaction with the Flamingos and the Sloth.
Both Sessions were great. Getting so close to Flamingos and a Sloth was so amazing.
We were not allowed to Touch the Flamingos, But to go on a Walk with them, feed them and learned some interesting facts.
The interaction with Wilbur the sloth was also such an amazing experience. We were allowed to touch her, feed her and to take as many pictures as we want to with our Own cam.
Both Sessions had a Photograph as well who Took pictures. One pict is for free But all pictures can be purchased as well.
A Bit negative is that the Photograph was not very motivated and did not take Many pictures.
They also did not Highlight to us when we had a bad Position for taking pictures.
I would Expect some better experienced People who know what they do.
I highly recommend to Tell them what Kind of pictures you want.

Good Zoo!

By Arlen5779 |

It was great to continue visiting the zoo - they do great work with all types of animals and the community.

Great family day...

By Kim B |

My family and I spent 14 days in West Palm, and it was beautiful. Exciting and so much fun for the kids also. Reasonably priced, easy to find, just wonderful. It was nice on a down day- for the whole family. We will definitely go again... and I recommend anyone visiting west palm decide to visit also. It was great.

Nice Little Zoo - Easy to Walk

By Steve D |

This little zoo offers a great deal of variety and animals in a fairly compact area. There are a lot of exhibits to see in this smaller facility. We found this to be as enjoyable as many larger zoos or animal parks. Worth the time to visit when in the area.

Not so good

By Shannon R |

Honestly, this was my 2nd time at the zoo and the first time was much better. THIS time, the customer service was poor from start to finish. As my son and I got there, a school group showed up and rather than pull us aside(who were obviously not with this group), the cashiers just watched us wait in line...until I finally asked one of them if she was also helping people. Then the lady taking the tickets just stood there and watched us until we asked her if we could go in. Her response was "I guess, if you want to". The ONLY good customer service we got was in the small store at the front...two women were in there and they were very friendly and helpful. The animals this time were different as well...as in, they were showing signs of sadness and distress(which I have never seen at another zoo and I also worked at one). The eagles were literally crying and it was heartbreaking to watch. The deer in the back with the emu and the weird mixture of animals was literally getting attacked by the emu and seemed to be asking any people standing there to please help it. The girl selling lorikeet food literally ignored my son and I even though there was no one there in line before us. She was standing there gossiping with another employee...she made eye contact with us twice and continued talking. After about a minute of this, we walked away. I will never go back to this zoo.

Koalas

By froglady53 |

Spent the day at the zoo! The koalas were the highlight of the day! Stephanie the zoo photographer was amazing and so informative! She took our pictures .. told us fun information and was so sweet!! This is a definite must when you visit the zoo! 🐨🐨🐨

Zoo trip

By Sara |

Was a nice zoo to go and see, but was expensive for us to go thru. Was not very big and thru it in less than 2 hours. Had a splash pad for kids, noone in our group to use it though. Had some people around a few animals to talk about them

Day at the zoo

By bassdad60 |

Great time, great place, the kids loved the animals, there is a lot to see, a definite recommendation alot to see, if local they have stuff like food trucks and things at nights and on the weekends.

A Day at The Zoo

By RICHARD L |

I took a stroll down memory lane, and went to the Palm Beach Zoo to relax and remember times when my adult children were just children.
Beautiful scenery, much to see! If you still have little ones, let them wear a bathing suit and enjoy the large water fountain play area! I did this once with my kids back in the day! Its fun for mom and dad too, especially on a warm summer day. Below are a few of my favorite pictures to share. There is so much more to see! Great place for a date, or a romantic stroll, as the foliage is beautiful and shady.

Sunday zoo visit

By Cynthia R |

Zoo features a variety of animals from various continents. Majority of pathways and walkways are shaded which is important in Florida. I'd recommend 2-3 hours if you're at a leisurely pace. If you're a quick walker and not spending alot of time reading information plaques, your visit can be shorter.

Watch out for the gift shop. They shortchanged our child and told us she must be mistaken or have lost her money.

By Avyinc |

Watch out for the gift shop! My daughter attended there today with her summer camp. Shame on us for giving her money and her young age to be able to get a souvenir. She was short changed by the employee at the store, apparently she is the manager. It was only a couple dollars she was short changed it when we called to let the store know she told us that our child must be mistaken. Shortchanging anyone especially a child that is still learning to work money is absolutely unacceptable. She was short changed by $2.89 for her purchase. My daughter never received any coins back for the transaction when I asked Jennifer the store manager about the coins she Responded that she asks everyone about donations. My child was never asked that. Watch your kids when you go there this location will clearly take advantage of young children. Shame on you guys, I sincerely hope that this is a once of case and it’s isn’t a larger situation.

Great day with some beautiful animals

By Esther |

Our family had so much fun. Lots of animals to see. The zoo keepers and staff were very friendly and informative. We fed the parrots which was amazing and such an experience! Would definitely go back.

A great place to enjoy ....

By Cyndy C |

The Palm Beach Zoo was a great experience.
I visited alone to check it out before taking my grand baby boys. At the entrance are fountains for kids to enjoy and run through. There is a natural wood play area for little ones. The surroundings and foliage are beautiful and the cages and animal habitats are very well kept. This is a great little zoo and a fun place to enjoy for all ages.

Great Entertaining Relaxing Animal Adventure Visit

By TravelYourWorld |

The Palm Beach Zoo is one of the best organized, well planed & kept zoos that I've visited. It's not so big that your overwhelmed with walking nor is it too small. It's just right for discovering and enjoying the animals within their natural habitat. I was amazed at the size and activity of their Bengal tiger (the largest I've ever seen live!), entertained by the otters, monkeys & birds, intrigued by the crocks and enchanted by the flamingos! It's very clear that all the animals within this zoo are well cared & provided for. There is a wonderful restaurant nestled in a very pleasant environment that looks to provided some tasty human treats. This Zoo is easy to find, very accessible and the parking is free. I would visit again and suggest that you bring the whole family as well. There is fun for all!

Koala Exhibit

By Dylan S |

I just wanted you to see my post from seeing the koalas last week. Thanks to Tabitha for an awesome koala adventure!

Memories are something we cherish for years after a special moment happens. Sometimes, a dream becomes a reality. Today, an ultimate dream of mine became true at the Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society, where I finally met a Queensland koala. I have been fascinated with koalas for many years and wondered if I would ever meet one. I also adopted Crumbles, a koala after my aunt visited Australia. My own stuffed koala collection could rival anyone in America or Australia.

After moving to Tamarac, I thought the best place to find koalas would be in Miami. I heard of koalas that survived Hurricane Andrew at Zoo Miami. Luckily, the Palm Beach Zoo offered a koala exhibit that allowed me a close-up of my favorite animal. There, Oz and Katherine were the koalas at the exhibit. It was exciting to see two Queensland koalas at the zoo.

My mom and I actually took a selfie next to Oz and Katherine. Luckily, they were fully awake and not sleeping while we were there. We were not able to touch the koalas due to an agreement between the zoo and Australia. Before meeting the koalas, it seemed like everyone wanted to see them. Many parents brought their kids to get a glimpse of Katherine and Oz, who was outside. It is a fun adventure for anyone who brings children to see Queensland koalas at the zoo. I would highly recommend going on the koala tour.

Coming into that day, I thought koalas spent most of their time indoors. After visiting the zoo, Oz and Katherine seemed relaxed while being outside in the intense heat. I knew many koalas were used to the Australian heat and humidity during the warmer months, but I wondered how long they could withstand in before heading back inside their cooler rooms.Tabitha, our tour guide, told us everything about Oz and Catherine, the koalas at the zoo.

Sloth Experience was EXCEPTIONAL!!!

By KPHart1975 |

We have been to many zoos, including the San Diego Zoo, Columbus Ohio Zoo, and Cincinnati Zoo. We had an exceptional experience at the Palm Beach Zoo with the Sloth Experience. The zoo offered the opportunity for you to have an "up close" meeting with a sloth. Although we didn't know what to expect, the 30 minutes spent with the sloth was really a unique opportunity. Damian, the sloth trainer/zoo keeper, was the perfect host. He explained all about sloths, answered all our questions, and provided an opportunity for us to touch the sloth, feed the sloth, and have our picture taken with the sloth. There were only 8 people in the group so it really was a very special event. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ZOO AND THE SLOTH EXPERIENCE!

Nice zoo, lots of greenery

By FLnurseER |

Was looking for something to do with grandkids on a weekend and decided on this zoo. We were not disappointed, the animals look well cared for, and there were some rescue animals we were glad to find out. The walk ways are very relaxing among all the greenery, large iguanas rest freely in the trees. Restaurant on premises is opened from 11 am - 3 pm, serving soups, salads and sandwiches, there are also concession stands throughout. Tickets are reasonable, $20 adults, $18 seniors and $15 children.

Sloth experience was great!

By atlam3 |

Damien was a great host. A little pricey but totally worth it. Wilbur is the cutest! We got to feed her and take photos.

nice place to spend a day (or half day)

By Tourista50 |

we decided to check this out one morning while in the area. taken aback by the price of entry. however the facilty is nice, clean. families with kids should make this a must stop (there's a splash zone near the entrance). seemed like good attempts were being made to have natural settings for the animals. snack bar and restaurant are available. we spent half day but could see this as a full day activity for some. not as grand as some zoos we have visited, but still very nice.

A terrific small zoo

By HarmonyW22 |

This is a smaller zoo than you'll find in big cities, but it's really excellent for its size. Good layout, lots of shade, reasonable concession prices, and would be especially fun for kids 10 and under. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is the admission price, which is quite high for a smaller zoo.

late afternoon

By hibank46 |

We love to go on an early evening visit. We are very lucky to have this zoo so close to us. The staff is very informative and cordial. Always something new or different to see.

Date night

By cassanovadog |

We haven't been in a long time and we must say, it's even better than we thought, if you have young children or are just young at heart, this is the best place for you and your family.

Wonderful Zoo in Natural Surroundings

The Palm Zoo was a delightful experience. Parking is free and admission prices are reasonable. We spent 2.5 hours exploring the park.

Upon entering, there is a Splash Pad for kiddos which was well occupied.

The park is laid out in 4 sections: The Islands, Asia, Tropics of the Americas and Florida Wetlands. There are daily events and interactive animal experiences daily.

We fed the Lorikeets which are very colorful arboreal parrots. The animals are showcased in natural surroundings. A popular attraction is the Koala Exhibit featuring Oz and Katherine. We were present at feeding time and were able to get very close to the mesh enclosure.

Another feature is Mardi, the white alligator, who has a rare genetic mutation called leucism.

There is a broad selection of animals and areas are well marked. The paths go through native vegetation which provides natural air conditioning. The guides are very helpful and informative.

There is a play area for children and small gift shop and cafe. Lovely way to spend the day.

One of the best!

By David Rossiter |

This is an excellent zoo and a memorable experience awaits, in all the right ways. The shady grounds and the high quality of the facilities are all standouts. What really struck me was how seemingly happy, healthy and engaged all the animals are, not just with their handlers but also with the guests. All the employees and volunteers are so friendly and, I can hardly think of a better way to spend a coupe, or few hours. I encountered no crowds on a Sunday and, this marvelous zoo is convenient and close to town.

Enjoyable

Nice, clean, friendly staff. Sad part was seeing the singing dog recently lost its brother and just looked so sad made us want to take it home. But overall it was a nice experience

Nice Zoo

By cindi m |

On the small scale, extremely fun to walk around, easy to navigate and flows well without having to back track to go to another area.

If it is hot, the animals lay low, but have patience, they will move around.

Need about 2 hours if you just want to stroll around.

Fun Day at the Zoo!

By ISLANDGIRL6969 |

First time there love that it was small Great shade and foliage. Plenty of rest areas and picnic areas . Came for the Sloth's and Koala so happy that the keepers were there to feed and entertain them for our viewing. Will definitely be back. And have told so many friends.

Creepy Cool experience

By Andrew F |

Really fun new experience. We fed some dart frogs, held a snake and a lizard, and got up close to an armadillo. The trainers were very knowledgeable and made the experience great. I definitely recommend this is you like reptiles.

Fun sloth

By paws0810 |

Grandson in town. We had the sloth experience. Fun just us and the sloth caretaker. Learned a lot. Even got to feed her.

Great for Younger Kids

By justnoely |

Our family really enjoyed our zoo experience. The zoo is just the right size for younger kids. There is plenty to see. Because of COVID all of the indoor building experiences were closed FYI. There is only one place to eat as well, but it is clean with fast service. Lots of fun animals, a playground, and a splashpad as well

Nice zoo. Koala Experince is amazing

By hjvet7 |

I was pleasantly surprised how many animals this zoo had. We came here for the Koala Experience, which was amazing. We went inside the koala's enclosure to learn about them and take pictures. They were so cute and made my koala loving daughter's day. We also fed the lorikeets. There is also a water area that kids can cool off in. I wish the gift shop had more koala souvenirs to remember the experience. Overall I recommend a visit.

Terrific Zoo

This zoo is great for families and travelers! Very well laid out, easy to navigate. Beautiful landscaping. Very enjoyable way to spend your afternoon.

Excellent

By Karen L |

We were seeing a show at the Kravis Center later in the day, and were coming from a distance. So based on the reviews, I decided to make a day of it, and visit the zoo also. Most of the reviews commented on the zoo being small, and only being a 2 hour visit, not to mention costing $40 for one adult and one child. (Note: parking is free and convenient) So needless to say, I was a little leery. I allotted 3 1/2 hours including lunch. However, I ended up regretting not allowing more time. As I said, most reviews state that it's small, and that 2 hrs is plenty. But I have to agree with another reviewer, that if you take advantage of the talks, and read the information boards, this is very easily a 4 hour+ visit. So the amount of time it takes is highly dependent upon the interest level of the visitors. For older visitors and/or animal enthusiasts, you could spend all day. For a family with small children, 2 hours is about right. The zoo was very clean. The staff was really friendly, helpful, and informative. It was obvious they enjoy their jobs. We started out by feeding the Lorikeets, which was really cool. And we were there early enough to see the Servals being fed. That was fun to watch, as they were given real prey (dead of course) to find, not just food put in a bowl. We attended the Tiger talk and the Lemur talk. We really enjoyed these, as they stressed the issues the animals are facing, and things we can do to help in the conservation effort. (I only visit conservation-minded zoos, and this one did not disappoint.) It took us 2 hours for the first half. We decided to have lunch inside the Cafe. I was pleasantly surprised to find a decent menu. It was a little pricey, but the food was good - MUCH better than other zoos I've visited. AND, as a plus, you can watch the Capybara, ducks, and flamingos in the enclosure on the other side of the glass. (Don't forget quarters, so you can feed the ducks!) There is also the option of eating outside and getting food from the kiosk. It was nice, too, that the Cafe is central. We came to it just as we had finished the first half, and were getting hungry. We went on a day that was not too hot. But they do have a nice water fountain area the kids can run through when it is. I imagine that would make for a happier visit on the hotter days. I must mention that so many reviews dock points for the fact that the zoo is not as big as the city zoos, which I think is unfair. To judge it for precisely what it is (a small local zoo), it is wonderful! I was most impressed with the tiger enclosure. You can't get much closer to their natural habitat - Wow! I have not seen anything that nice in zoos that are 10 times the size. They are not "cagefree", but the enclosures are much truer to nature than those I have seen in the larger zoos, including the "cagefree". The animals all looked healthy and well taken care of. I believe that is how a zoo should be rated, not by how long it takes a spectator to casually walk by all the enclosures. Despite the 1 1/2 hr drive, we will definitely be back!

Great bargain!

By Lojay59 |

Great zoo tucked away in a city! The animal enclosures were beautiful and spacious, the staff knowledgeable and friendly. A great day trip for families!

Lots animals to look at nice walkways and roomy paths. The younger ones really enjoyed the bear and gators

No longer the place to go

By SSC56 |

When my daughter was little (10+ years ago) I used to take here regularly to the Palm Beach Zoo as it was well maintained, shady, clean, many happy animals for us to see and a place we could enjoy in 3 hours. But yesterday.........for New Year's Day I thought I would be fun to take my daughter and a couple friends for something to do outside that would be different to do as they are now teenagers. I was SOOOOOOO disappointed I took them there. The zoo is no longer well maintained, feels dirty and is looking old. Many times IF we could find an animal in an exhibit we questioned if it was even real as there would be one sleeping. IF there were animals on exhibit we felt SO sad for them as their areas needed cleaned up and they all looked SO depressed. We felt so awful for some of the animals. Some were pacing in circles. We just could tell they were not content. We were out of there in just over an hour. Some people we were walking around near to other families without masks, one zoo keeper was right there and saw them and said nothing. There were endless signs to wear masks which was a positive but it was not enforced. We left bummed it wasn't fun and I was so sad the place was not like it was long ago. We definitely did not achieve the New Years Day memory we were hoping for. I really hope someone does something for the poor animals there and steps in and gets the zoo back to its potential. Really sad.....

So much fun!

By RRatel |

Love the interactive exhibits and the intimate nature of this zoo. The lorikeets and our Capybara Experience were our favorite!

Fun at the zoo for seniors

By Monica Shapiro L |

We visited the zoo with friends and got done really nice pictures of the animals. We all had a fun time, and plan to go back!

Enjoyable visit

By AL_Pete |

Our family group of 6 toured the zoo and everyone found things of interest. There were a wide variety of animals and the area was well laid out. I believe they take credit cards, but when we were there the system was not working and we had to pay cash.

Small but mighty memorable

By Catherine P |

Great little zoo and can average about 2 hours and longer if you choose to eat or stop for the water park or merry go round. Overall a quaint, clean, and enjoyable time for all ages. Gets you close enough for some great photo and the animals habitats are well maintained. Restrooms were also maintained well by the staff.

We had a great time at the zoo. Very much appreciated talking with Rebecca who fed Fred and Wilma (the resident alligators). This zoo is a hidden gem and I highly recommend everyone visit. The bird show was also amazing.

Lax with Masks

By AMMSoFL |

The animals are well-cared for and the staff is friendly, eagerly answering questions by patrons. The closings of some areas and directional signs are just some of the ways the zoo is trying to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. What was worrisome to me, and caused a loss of a star in the rating, is that there was roughly a 40% compliance rate to wearing a mask. This lack of courteousness and care for others' health was shown mostly by moms of little ones. The zoo had a police officer on duty and wherever he was, people were more compliant with the mask mandate. At the zoo, I did not see anywhere or anyone to whom I could mention my observation, so I am writing it here.
The date of my visit was 8/18/2020.
And, iguanas have overtaken the zoo! Really big ones were everywhere. At one point a father of three children said to watch out for the baby alligator on the walkway. I was very curious. Then when I saw it, it was not a baby alligator, it was a huge iquana (one of many!).

A lovely day at the zoo

By Averagejoe001 |

So this is a nice little zoo. Not so big you can’t get it all in during an afternoon. A good variety of animals. No big elephants or rhinos or giraffes and such but some cool animals to view. Informative signs. Close views and nicely laid out. A little water play area for the kids. A decent cafe with table service under air conditioning indoors but be aware that closes at about 3 and then it is service from the fast food section outside only after that. There are plenty of outdoor tables. Clean restrooms. Food pretty good. There is the usual gift shop near the exit. The parking directly in the front lot is pretty packed but go around the side and there is plenty of parking with a bit longer walk to the entrance. The kids really had fun. It is worth noting that there is a lot under the shade of trees so you don’t get baked too bad on hot sunny days. Prices were reasonable as well. I believe it was worth visiting if you are in the area and are looking for alternatives. There is a kids science museum adjacent to the zoo if the weather turns on you as well. We had great weather and did not go there though it was there as a back up if needed.

Delightful find

By mlc317 |

The zoo is separated into 4 different areas and the main center has a fountain for people of all ages to cool off. It's very well shaded throughout and there are many experiences you could add on to your tickets.

Cute little zoo

By lauraschaefferaz |

Cute little zoo for little kids. Well maintained and clean but not a lot to see. There are a few small.exhibits and you can see it all in an hour.

Don't Miss This!!

By Nancy S |

Not only is the zoo incredibly beautiful, but there are many extras available for special occasions. Yesterday, 5/19/18, I went with my family to the Sloth Encounter, facilitated by Damien. It far exceeded our expectations! We met Wilbur, the sloth, fed her, touched her, and learned all sorts of new and wonderful things about this interesting creature. Damien was patient, thorough, and very knowledgeable. We even received a free 5x7 photo taken by a professional photographer as one of the perks of this experience. You won't regret a dime you spend on this worthwhile experience!

Great Experience at the Palm Beach Zoo!!!

By mbguy26 |

I visited the Palm Beach Zoo on Memorial Day, (May 28th, 2018) and had a Wonderful visit. I paid a little bit extra for the Koala Experience and it was well worth it. I was lucky enough to not have any other guests during my session with the Koala Bears, however at the most they don't over-crowd the animal experience sessions.

Since the Koalas have been one of my favorite animals for most of my life and I saw they offer experiences that you get to get closer than normal to them and take as many pictures of the koala's as you want and also take pictures of you with the koala bears in the background I thought that was awesome as well. I even had a professional photographer during my session which took some great pictures as well.

All the staff at the zoo was also very friendly and knowledgeable about all the animals as well.

The layout of the zoo is beautiful and I love the nature that each animal has in their enclosure.

Overall I would go back to the Palm Beach Zoo on my next trip to Florida (hopefully next year).

Other than the koala experience I enjoyed the tiger and big cats and liked the various monkeys that they had. I also enjoyed the animals shows and thought the pricing was reasonable with the exception for the cafe (but that's too be expected).

I like how the money spent at the zoo goes directly towards taking care of the animals and costs of the zoo as well.

Thanks again to all staff and volunteers for a great Memorial Day at the Palm Beach Zoo.

Great Little Zoo

By 1198r |

This zoo was very well kept. The layout was very nice. The keepers were very friendly and informative. We really enjoyed ourselves and will try to get back there on our next visit to Florida.
They also have a fountain that your little ones can cool off in on hot days

Expensive

By GEORGE S |

Expensive for what you see. A lot of side paths that lead nowhere. Not sure where the 500 animals were. Not really not worth the price of admission.

A quaint zoo

By renee |

My husband and I visited there because I wanted to do the koala experience. Very few zoos in the US have koalas because they belong to Australia. Part of me would have loved to hold them. (FYI - In Australia only a few select territories allow contact with koalas. If you go there, check the experiences because some only allow you to hold them for a few seconds for a photo op as if they are a toy. I would hold a koala only if the experience is right for and respectful of the koala.) Grayson led the koala experience and was very informative about Oz and Katherine. As we meandered through the zoo, volunteers and zoo employees loved sharing information about the animals who seemed happy and healthy. My husband can't walk far nor for long so he was able to enjoy seeing the animals The gift shops were a bit lacking in selection of swag outside of stuffed animals (but no koalas). We hope to go back next year to see if Oz and Katherine had a little joey. Overall, we liked the size of Palm Beach zoo.

A great place for the Family

By BATMAN & CATWOMAN |

The Palm Beach Zoo is great place to go with the children. The Zoo offers several themes based on the types of animals and their habitat.

When you enter there is a a round area with water fountains for the kids to cool down on a hot day so bring a bathing suit and a change of clothes.

Very Clean & Great Employees

By Robert B |

We walked around & then did the "Sloth Experience". I loved it ! A lot of birds & animals to visit. They did give us a discount with AAA.

Great place!

By s27091503 |

I went here with my parents and I enjoyed every moment of it. The animals at the zoo are very cool and the tiger scared me when it roared. I would come here again 100%

Amazing food

By SimoneGro |

We had a lot of fun at the zoo yesterday. Seeing the animals, hearing from a Zoo employee about the lemurs, petting a python, feeding the birds, playing in the fountain, all was a lot of fun for us and our almost 3 year old. We ate at the outdoor Cafe and were pleasantly surprised: the food was absolutely amazing. I had a gorgeous garden salad and my husband a cheeseburger, which were both delicious. I was also surprised about the amount of beer we could choose from with quite some local brews. As I was getting my single-use plastic cutlery one of the employees was refilling them with wooden ones. Way to go Palm Beach Zoo!! We will be back soon :)

Fun wildlife escape not far from Everlasting Smiles: William Ma DMD

By Everlasting Smiles: William Ma DMD |

I visited the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society on a lovely weekend not far from Everlasting Smiles: William Ma DMD, and it exceeded expectations. The zoo spans ~23 tropical acres of shaded paths, home to animals like Malayan tigers, jaguars, Mexican spider monkeys, and Florida panthers in naturalistic habitats.

I especially enjoyed the keeper talks, the interactive water play area (great for kids on hotter days), and strolling through exhibits at a relaxed pace. The grounds feel manageable — not overwhelming — which makes it family-friendly.

If you have only a few hours, this is a solid choice for a wildlife day trip while staying in the Palm Beach Gardens area.

No animals!

By Agnieszka G |

Dissapointed. Barely saw any animals. Lots of exhibits were empty. Then it stormed so they should've given a refund or at least let us finish another day! Not worth the money.

Poké Trainers Dream

By Massawuhyum |

This place is full of Pokemon stops. So, if you play Pokemon Go, it's worth a visit.

The zoo itself is a really nice locale. The animals are lively and active. The layout is easy to walk. It's just a great experience. The zoo also offers several programs, events, and offerings so it doesn't get stale. My daughter loves animals, so this was a must. I think your kids will love it too.

Side note: talked to a co-worker about the zoo. She had her daughter in summer camp (Zoo Camp). Her daughter was there for the majority of the day, saw and did everything and still asked to go back or stay longer. Food for thought.

We loved the unique animals

By MB B |

We loved the unique animals I am not used to seeing at a zoo. I have to admit we came to see the capybaras since my daughter is a guinea pig lover. I figured with Covid we would not be able to feed them. Also, we saw advertised kids entered free for the month of August but no one mentioned it, so we weren't sure. The capybara was hot and stayed with his rear end facing us in the shade. Note: That's exactly what guinea pigs do. ha! But we did get to see a real one so that was fun! Great tropical animal exhibits.

Awesome experience definitely recommend anyone to go

By Princess N |

Today my husband and I took our sons to the zoo we had an amazing time it was a great family outing!! The staff at the zoo was AMAZING very professional! Definitely recommend going to this zoo to all the animal lovers or for parents taking your kids to this zoo you won’t be disappointed. Victor Willis the manager of the zoo is by far the best thing there very courteous helpful knowledgeable of the animals and operations at the zoo. A walking display of professionalism and he made our experience just that much better such an exceptional guy. Give that young man a raise he is definitely an asset to this zoo.

An enjoyable outing with lots to see

By familyhunter77 |

Cute little zoo. There are all types of animals. The kids enjoyed the splash pad after a hot day of strolling to see the animals. The food in the park is a little pricey but there are places to sit inside to eat and food areas throughout the park.

Beautiful Place great for everyone

By 370theresas |

Great place, wonderful grounds and animal enclosures. This is such a great place with amazing animals. They all look healthy and well cared for. The enclosures are wonderful. We were able to see every single animal except for the bears, as they were taking a nap in the far corner of their wonderful enclosure! Almost all of the zoo is covered in beautiful shade trees and was a pleasure to walk through. We traveled from Bonita Springs and we will definitely be back!

Great local zoo

By JenniferD63 |

I have been to this zoo quite a few times. I absolutely love it. It is located right off of I-95 with ample free parking.

Overall the zoo is a nice size. You can easily (and leisurely) walk through and see everything within a 2-2.5 hour timeframe. The flamingo walk is fun if you have a chance to see it.

Sometimes a volunteer will walk through and provide some background on the animals and habitat. I really like this feature.

I highly recommend the zoo for not only families but couples or individuals on a solo trip.

Horrible place to visit

By Shakera P |

Don't visit here this place is horrible the animals are depressed and showing signs of pacing back and forth from stress being in that small environment. The animals quarters are dirty, they have polluted water. I feel so sorry for these animals the workers seem to not care and they run around doing nothing and worrying about Halloween decorations, are you serious. I really love animals and my kids also so this really changed my mind on zoos. Therefore, I will never visit a zoo again they need to shut this place down. I give this place 0 stars.

Zoo is great and the Capybara Experience with Michelle was AMAZING!!!

By Courtney M |

Had an awesome time today at the Palm Beach Zoo. Great little zoo! We did the capybara experience and I HIGHLY recommend it. Michelle was our zoo keeper for this experience and she was absolutely FABULOUS!! My husband, teenage son and I all had the best time. She was interesting, fun, knew everything there was to know about the capybara and she made our experience perfect. I don’t think we stopped smiling the entire time. We all walked away saying “that was freaking awesome!! That was sooo much fun!!!” If you have the chance I would definitely do the capybara experience with Michelle! She was so good it makes me want to book every experience with her!

Too small for animals. Too many shady goings on.

By wehaveapiperdoone |

The animals aren't happy and their environments are too small. Overpriced for what it is. Go to Miami instead.

Good but could be better

By bals d |

Zoo is small but perfect for toddlers and young kids. Its a great stroller pushing zoo unlike miami zoo which will punish you with so much walking.
I wish they left the small aviary open.
I went on 03/20/2021 and mask was voluntary (sign says: pls wear a mask when you cannot social distance) not mandatory. With spring break bringing huge crowds to places this is not the best time to relax policies. I saw more than 1/3rd without masks.
So we left as early as we could.

Nice, Nice Zoo

By Gene E |

Stopped here with friends on a recent trip. It is smaller than some large city zoos; but for a smaller market has some really nicely constructed, natural habitats for the animals.
Was some what disappointed that they didn't honor our Cleveland, OH membership card; but found the day was worth the price. Can't see lizards fall out of trees in Ohio.

Great Day Trip

By Annette R |

We had never been to the Palm Beach Zoo before so decided to take our 3 year old grandson. The zoo is not overly large so is a great choice for younger kids. It is clean and very well kept. They have a great selection of animals from all different parts of the world. I highly recommend that you check it out.

Very toddler friendly place

By Megan M |

I recently went here from 9-11am on a Wednesday morning with my 3 year old and had a blast. There were a lot of hands on opportunities for her like feeding ducks, feeding lorikeets, and the train. I love all of the trails around - my daughter loved running around and playing with the bronze statues of turtles and monkeys. It's a very nice little zoo.

Palm Beach / Dreher Park Zoo

By rgblank |

The zoo was average for a zoo, but I thought admission price was too high. In most of the exhibits you can't see the animals because they went to areas out of the sun. My visit was in November, but being that it is South Florida, exhibits should be designed so that the animals could be seen even when they are avoiding the hot sun.

WOOOH HOOO IT'S THE ZOOO☆☆☆☆☆

By Jonscraftbeer |

This is a very nice little zoo animals are kept in a natural setting . There is a good variety of animals from different countries . A must see if you are in the area. Veterans get in free

Hey, let me offer, we ran into a great volunteer who knows ALL about koalas.
Sweet, kind, helpful. Doggone! We don't
Remember his name.
Plus, we learned about the New Zealand
Singing dog...

Zoo failure

By Susan W |

My experience was very disappointing. I have been to many Zoo's over the years and this was the worst. Very few animals to be seen...no giraffe, no lion and no elephants. I have never been to a zoo without these! The price for the ticket is too much for the experience you will have. Never again!!

Free entry for veterans and 1/2 off entire family

By heaterguy100 |

Went to the zoo today to check it out. Wasn’t sure what to expect because we went to Lion Country Safari a while ago and that was an absolute waste of time and money. This zoo is well maintained and has a large variety of different animals. Free parking is great and the lot can fill up quickly, but no worries as there is overflow parking around the back part of the zoo. I went there knowing it was $25 per person and I was ok with that, so you can imagine my surprise when I found out Veterans get in for free and the rest of your party gets in for 1/2 off. The total for 4 of us was $37.43. They also give a 10% military discount on food and the gift shops which is very nice of them. We moved here from Philly in June and it took us a while to finally get here, but we will definitely return again to check out all the animals. Keep up the good work🇺🇸👍🏻

Another great Zoo

By Brett A |

Any time we are travelling we will look up to see if there is a zoo. The Palm Beach Zoo is a really nice zoo to visit. The enclosures are nicely set up so viewing is great and accessible for all sizes. Great time!

Beautiful Zoo

By Lynette58 |

This is a great zoo! There is a good variety of animals. Some of the enclosures were closed due to COVID, but there was plenty to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our day at the zoo. The animals seem well cared for, and enclosures clean. All the areas are marked, so it is easy to navigate.

Very nice zoo for all ages

By Lisa M |

Really nice zoo with beautiful habitats. Easy to walkthrough with adults and kids. Grandaughter loved l the various animals . Would recommend

Enjoyable Visit and Flamingo Experience

By Wander_The_W0rld |

We really enjoyed our visit to the zoo which is an easy walk through in about 2 hours. Seemed like there were activities for the kids including a merry go round and splash zone. It's not a huge zoo, the largest animal seemed to be the tiger who was sleeping and we saw him from far away. The cougar and panthers were out so we got a good view of them. Also enjoyed viewing the koalas and sloths. I'm not a fan of animals in cages but these animals are either rescued or from other zoos and cannot be released into the wild. The eagle had been hit by a car and lost part of a wing so rescued by the zoo. At the ticket office it was suggested we do the Flamingo Experience which we did and really enjoyed. We were able to spend 30 minutes interacting with, learning about and feeding four friendly flamimgos. I would highly recommend it. I thought the admission prices and flamingo experince prices were fine because we are supporting the animals.

A great zoo!

I wished my daughter was with me this trip!

Great place to visit with or without kids

By EANMI |

The Palm Beach zoo is a great place to visit with or without kids. We’ve been there several times and plan to go back again with our grandchildren.

Timeline of the Palm Beach Zoo

By pbskateso |

When I fist moved to Florida in 1963 this zoo was a very small zoo and today when I came back to Florida after moving away back in 2002 what a difference and change it was. I was impressed how they built onto and the shows and animals they have put together and how they split up 4 different areas for the animals and shows. The even have a restaurant which is really nice and a gift shop too and other fun things to do. They have adult pricing & Senior pricing & Veterans get in Free which is Awesome for those who are serving and have served.

Koala Encounter!

By kybanez888 |

Our guide was Jessica and she was extremely informative about the lovable little koalas. We got to get up close and personal with the koalas. The zoo itself was already fun as is and the koala encounter made the day even better. They were in perfect care as well and just seemed to enjoy their enclosure. I would 100% recommend this encounter to anyone who visits this zoo.

Good First Time Experience

By Maurice J |

I was skeptical about visiting Palm Beach Zoo. I saw some reviews that didn't paint an exciting picture. However, I decided to still visit with my pre-teen daughter. The zoo isn't too big and not small but the variety of animals did keep our interest piqued. You can take time to observe the animals without feeling rushed to cover territory. The highlight for us is the Rainbow Lorikeets. They are a wonderful attraction that certainly would draw us to the Zoo again.

The tigers topped off a great visit

By AMMSoFL |

The zoo is always a favorite place to take the grandchildren. I was disappointed that already there was a Christmas tree erected over the splash fountain. But other than that, my little granddaughter had a blast. The animals are well cared for and most of them are easy to see.

Lovely Shaded Grounds with Unique Decor

By Kelly L |

We love this local zoo! Fist of all its beautiful with lots of lush tropical trees and foliage which provide much desired shade. Of course the animals are lovely and seem to have very nice habitats. And we love the amazing and unexpected "decor", especially the Mayan ruin recreations in the south America section.

Good little zoo

By Dropsojup |

This zoo has a little something for everyone. It is very easy to maneuver as one section leads into the next. There are special animal encounters that can be done with the Koala, Capybara, etc that we did not pay additional for to patricipate in, but we saw one in progress and every one seemed to be enjoying the one on one with the animals. The parking is free which is nice. We are fortunate that we got half off bc we are members of a reciprocal zoo, not sure I would want to have paid full price as it is a smaller zoo. Overall a nice experience.

Great zoo!

By Scott B |

Spent two hours casually strolling though the zoo. Great variety of animals and it’s definitely recommended.

Very nice zoo

By coaster enthusiast |

This zoo is very nice. It is one very nice zoo and has many different animals. I liked the jaguar area and how close you can see some of the animals. The ones we got to see really close were the bears. It was cool how big they were. The food was good and you could even sit down and eat. Overall I would definitely recommend coming here if you are visiting West palm beach. A really nice place.

Great Experiences

By Javier G |

Last time we were there was just before the pandemic and this place is great if you happen to get the year membership, they have a bunch of special events that our kids loved, the zoo is well kept and they have a nice variety of animals.

Such An Engaging Zoo, With A Variety Animals

By Thomas Peter Carlon |

The Palm Beach Zoo And Conservation Society is truly a great attraction to see if you are traveling to the area. There is definitely a variety of animal-related attractions to see if you are in the area, but The Palm Beach Zoo And Conservation Society definitely offered a close-up view with wildlife and allowed you to get up close and personal with a variety of species. In this respect, the zoo was very expansive and when taking into account all of the wildlife that calls The Palm Beach Zoo And Conservation Society home, it is definitely a great place to visit. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon, and the zoo itself was fairly crowded. We were able to purchase tickets right at the gate and explore at a very leisurely fashion. I love how the zoo is broken up into different areas, and how the animals are organized based on their natural habitat. Out of all the animals at the zoo, we were most intrigued by the panther and the tigers. It was incredible to get so close to all of the animals. The birds were also great to see, and their habitat was very scenic. You could tell that the staff takes great care in watching over the animals, and all of the habitats we witnessed were very well kept. I would recommend The Palm Beach Zoo And Conservation Society, as you can truly get up close with many animals.

Very disappointed to see the decline.

By Tom T |

I have often recommended the Palm Beach Zoo for both visitors and locals. However our recent visits have shown a downward trend. The Palm Beach Zoo is now average at best. Many exhibits are empty, boarded up or so badly overgrown that you cannot see the animals. I am an annual pass holder and the decline is very sad to see.

Lovely little zoo and fabulous experience with the Sloth Experience

By MATraveler335 |

Daughter is a huge sloth fan. We enjoyed the zoo and purchased the sloth experience. While 35.00 seems a lot it is all put back into the care of the animal so I had no problem purchasing the ticket. 30 minute exhibit done by Michelle with Wilbur the Sloth. She was adorable. You get to pat and feed Wilbur and they take photos, which you can buy on a USB but they print 3 free ones for you. Really enjoyed our time there!

Small but lovely gem

By Lisa T |

I spent the afternoon at the zoo with a friend - we're grown-ups...well, at least we're well over the age of majority. What a lovely afternoon!

The Palm Beach Zoo is small, but it beautiful and it has an interesting assortment of animals. Plus there are many kid-friendly activities available.

Relaxing, enjoyable, lovely

Not worth $25, this is a $5 zoo at best

By callmps |

Visited for the first time on a Saturday.
Paid the $25 admission expecting a good experience.
We were terribly disappointed.
Many of the exhibits were closed, for many others you could not see the animals.
The tiger was pacing back and forth in a very small circle, with what appears to be a limp.
It was sad to see.
The layout of the zoo is horrible.
If you don't walk down an unmarked path you missed some of the monkeys.
Signs for directions after the entrance are non-existent.
The white alligator was interesting, that's about it.
Possibly the biggest disappointment was that we did not see a single zoo employee (except for the person in the bird exhibit selling bird nectar) during the entire visit.
There was not a single employee that we saw who could answer a question about an animal or an exhibit.
We have been to other small zoos (Turtleback) where there were more animals at half the admission cost.
$25 for this zoo is a ripoff, sorry.

Not good for mid-afternoon

By 41Pier12 |

Not good for mid-afternoon visit as the heat drive most animals into the shaded spot to sleep (maybe they are the smart ones). The layout is nice, parking is superb, staff very friendly and the "Splash" area is great for the kids. Escaped the heat into the a/c Tropics Cafe which was not crowded, comfortable, and provided a good view of the flamingos. Food was marginally average with expected higher prices. One thing I did not care for is they automatically added a "gratuity" fee for any party 6+. We had 4 adults and 2 infants! Oh well, they lost out because I tip much more than a gratuity fee but not when a gratuity fee is added for infants! Skip the lunch at the cafe and it would have been a 4 star visit.

We had a very fun day at this zoo.

Very nice local zoo to go to and spend a good part of the day. Took our grandchildren here and they had a lot of fun. Also took my camera and got lots of great photos.

Great for small kids

By zouzou_biscuit |

This is a smaller zoo and easy to navigate with little ones. We visited for the first time and took some photos. You're close to the animals and there's a great assortment of animals from around the world. There are also a number of "visitor" animals that just arrive on their own and become part of the scenery. A couple of large lizards and many Ibis. Really enjoyable day.

Nice little zoo

By Manny A |

I remember visiting this zoo almost 20 years ago and being blown away by the detailed theming and overall appearance. Now it is really starting to show it's age. It is still a neat little zoo but a bit shabby in some areas with overgrown or unkept landscaping. A great plus is that there is an actual sit down restaurant right on site with nice air conditioning and pretty good food. Staff was friendly. I see they are doing some construction and adding a new habitat, will give it another try.

A Family Destination

By EDDIE APPLEFELD |

My first visit was a pleasant one. It is not a huge zoo, 23 acres, about 550 animals and 190 species. It's open daily from 9 to 5. Animals range from tigers to lemur monkeys. Adult admission is $24.95. Plan on 2 hours.

Loved every moment, including Wilbur

By Clear C |

All of the workers were friendly, the animals amazing, and the interaction with Wilbur the sloth. Highly recommend going, especially with family.

Sloth is the diva of the zoo

By Darlene S |

What a wonderful experience meeting Wilbur the sloth today. She was so soft we learned interesting facts about sloths . We even got to see a sloths ear. You can’t say you have done that every day

Overpriced and sad-looking

By Amber P |

We have been members since December 2019. Unfortunately, due to COVID, we haven't been able to use our passes as much as we'd like. That being said, we've been to the Palm Beach Zoo a handful of times before and during COVID.

First of all, the cost of admission is drastically overpriced; even more so if you're buying a pass. A lot of exhibits are closed, the paths are poorly designed so they suddenly end. There is poor signage in most parts of the zoo, until you are suddenly at a new exhibit. The efforts the zoo has made for preventing exposure are laughable at best. No one followed one directional pathways, the paths are too narrow at most points to observe proper social distancing, I saw just a couple of hand sanitizer dispensers, masks were not worn by most... ESPECIALLY at the splash pad which has signs everywhere that state splash pad observers need to wear masks.

We were likely spoiled by our own local zoo in Columbia SC (Riverbanks), but we saw them make vast improvements over just a few years, so I know Palm Beach Zoo could do that too if they wanted to. I imagine they don't have the funds judging by the lack of employees and the state of exhibits, let alone not offering any extension of membership during the 3+ months of closure. This is very much a COMMUNITY "ZOO" (really, the name should be changed so one has a better idea of what to expect). Very disappointed and will not be renewing our membership unfortunately.

I am actually shocked by how many positive reviews this zoo has received. It's baffling.

Not thrilled

By Amber W |

This zoo is very disappointing. We’ve been here multiple times when visiting & it’s always the same. My kids had an okay time & enjoyed cooling off in the splash pad, but that’s about it, don’t think we’ll be going back. NO one there, super run down, most of the animals weren’t even out. Don’t have any ‘big’ animals like elephants, giraffes, zebras, etc. & their day tickets & passes cost a lot more then much nicer zoos like Miami or Atlanta.

Amazing Zoo!

By DARYADVO |

Great place, lots of beautiful animals, all aviaries are clean, in perfect condition, amazing staff. Must visit!! Lifetime opportunity to get so close to koala!!! They are adorable!!! Also you have an opportunity to feed sloth!! Strongly recommend for everyone!! (Tip: Koala and Sloth (and other) experience book earlier!)
Thank you, Palm Beach Zoo!!!

Best zoo

By Laurie W |

This zoo has been involving my whole life thanks to my parents and I am in my 40’s. This zoo has also been invoked in my childrens whole life and they are now in their 20’s. My grandchild now enjoys this zoo too!!! This zoo is perfect for family gatherings. We took our scouts here once a month to celebrate their birthdays! I much prefer a smaller we’ll take care for zoo than a huge one.

Amazing small zoo

By wpbdiver2017 |

Emphasis on conservation. This is one of the better zoos I've visited in this country. It may be small, but it makes up for its diminutive size by offering interactive programs for visitors that you won't see elsewhere.

Kids and adults will have lots of fun here

By Evan Braz |

Took my grand kids to visit this local zoo and everyone had a good time watching the animals in a relaxed and compact environment.Plenty of food, parking, and related activities to keep everyone busy and entertained.

Zoo lights

By Douglas R |

Zoo lights
the lights were ok definitely worth the money, but I am writing this review because of the food. Either make it cheaper or better. A can of soda is 4.00, a bottle of water is 5.00. We paid 7 dollars for an empanada that was cold and stale and flavorless, could have bought one twice the size and much better at the dollar store for a buck. The soft pretzel which we tried at another location was hard as a rock and cold and the cheese sauce was just awful. we literally spent as much as we would have going out to eat and it was practically inedible. I didn't even try the funnel cake burn me three times shame on me. I understand its zoo food, but if it's going to be bad how about not gouging the customers.

Good but Expensive for Modest Size

By cmdevlin64 |

We have visited over 200 zoos around the world and enjoyed our visit to Palm Beach Zoo. Enclosures are large and naturalistic, keepers were friendly and approachable, and the Zoo maintains AZA accreditation.

Having said that, we were disappointed that 1) the admission price of $25 per adult equals that of Zoo Miami (which while funded in-part by Miami-Dade County is over 15 times the size); 2) other than two brief presentations in the afternoon there were no keeper (or even volunteer-led) talks; 3) it's OK that the Zoo is "going green" by not printing paper maps but there is only one physical map (located at the Zoo entry) and it is outdated: singing dogs, bush dogs, and coati are no longer on exhibit.

Fun for all ages

Safe and well maintain zoo! with super friendly and polite staff! lots of information an variety of animals.

Great zoo

By Meggyamber |

We absolutely love visiting zoos. So we decided to stop at this one. They have a lot of animals. We got to watch them working with multiple animals so that was great! I definitely recommend this place.

A great escape in the middle of everything!

By whereimat |

You don't have to look far for something to do in West Palm Beach. But what a relaxing, uncrowded midweek escape in the middle of everything! Easy to get to. Great, great opportunity for photography.

Small zoo

By Cyndi B |

Its a small zoo but a nice way to spend a few hours. We were really hoping to see the tiger cubs but they were not out. My favorite animal viewing experience was the otter—he put on a lovely “show” directly in front of us!

Cute Little Zoo

By Christine K |

There is a big fountain area for kids to run through in their swimming suits. Very kid friendly and easy to walk through. We also enjoyed feeding the birds for $2/cup of nectar or $5/3 cups.

The Zoo

By boxofsugar |

The Palm Beach Zoo is awesome. The kids loved the tiger exhibit and the zoo keeper talk about them. It was a bit colder when we visited but lots of animals were out. The Golden Tamarind were one of our favorites. This is a great zoo for kids and adults. It is not super large but well maintained and a fast friendly staff. There are kids rides and a water area too. The Florida Panther was great to see.

wonderful zoo

By Renee R |

This zoo is my favorite zoo. The scale is manageable, the design is beautiful. You never feel like you are looking at animals in cages. They are all in natural habitats. The Tiger stalks the jungle, the monkeys swing and play, the otters run around and swim, and the the flamingoes wade in the water. Kids can play in their swim suits in the center fountain. It is a great day for people of any age.

Family private event

By HamptonInnQueen |

We visit the zoo for a private function. The grounds were immaculate and the animals seemed happy within the environment. We had animal encounters and the keepers were very informative.

OMG TOURS

By Brattybritt92 |

Came for the southern ground hornbill tour. Stayed for the capybara tour. Both were great. No touches but fed lots of treats!! The volunteer gentleman at butterfly area was amazing. Photos reasonably priced but they came in individual heavy paper frame portfolio things. I would’ve rather saved all that paper (my fam got 6 photos) and preferred a digital copy.

Great day with my toddler!

By tripsavage |

What a great afternoon trip with my toddler. He’s just under two and we both loved the animals, exhibits and especially the water fountain park! They have food, snacks, a shop and friendly staff.

One of the best zoo's that I have been too.

By Bob W |

This zoo is quite a small zoo compared to other zoos I have visited in the past, but it was worth every penny. Especially the flamingo walks @ 1230, animal display @ 1300.
