2 of 59 Best Attractions in State College

PSU is known for its high rank among the universities in the USA. Marvelous campus, outstanding management and professors, neat dorms.

I've been to State College several times ... personal & business; this time I made a point to drive around the campus. NOW I see why people are excited to go to Penn State; no wonder the alumni are PROUD!!

I have been visiting this area for many years .. I now have a daughter that is a freshman here and it is a fantastic University! Clean and friendly people everywhere and lots of places to eat and shop.

Walking along College Ave is a must! Lots of stores and restaurants. We love McLanahans, they have everything:)

One of the best colleges in the country. Campus is beautiful. Always a pleasure to visit. Don't forget a stop at the Creamery and Bookstore.

Class of 1980. The campus has changed....but for the better. If you love trees, you'll love the many different species of trees. Plus other planting areas. The arboretum is beautiful ( I'm a Master Gardener). It's peaceful ( on a non-football weekend) and highly energetic on a football weekend. Downtown State College has not changed all that much since I was there. Plenty to see and plenty of restaurants.

They nickel and dime you to death. You make a mistake and you get little support and even less sympathy. "Pay up your balance. We don't care where you get the money." Well we paid up and we're getting the diploma because we're already neck deep in debt. But you aren't getting a single cent more and even less love from us.

What more is there to say about the HAPPIEST VALLEY on Earth! The BEST University and Best College town anywhere.

Penn State is awesome. The landscape, architecture and atmosphere are fantastic. The college tour was awesome (Thanks Mike and Jacob). The campus layout is great and easy to navigate. The campus buses get you where you need to go efficiently. The dorms were nicer than a lot of colleges we visited and are also going through renovations to make them even better. Beaver Stadium? What more can I say. It’s huge and full of energy, even when it rains and is freezing. Definitely the top two choices for our son (along with Clemson University).

The university is a beautiful blend of the historic town and modern university. Beautiful architecture in both the old buildings and the new. Great walkable campus, very well landscaped and maintained. Sits right next to town so it all blends nicely together. The pride you feel on this campus and for their sports is unlike anywhere else I have been. I was very impressed with everything we did and saw. One of the largest football stadiums in the nation and huge student participation. And by the way, the best football tailgating I have ever seen, college or pro, amazing.......

Beautiful campus that has quite some history but comfortable enough to be on your own. The seasons only enhance the beauty of this campus.
Use the free bus shuttles to get around.

This is college town that us the best of small town mixed with the flavor of a bog city. If you like to mountain bike its 5 minutes outside town. At the same time you can attend a concert or play and go to dinner backintown. That aside this town is home to the best academic institution in the U.S.

Pretty impressive facilities, and the whole quaint town revolves around this mega-college. Stone houses and big trees are rife.

This is what college is all about. A beautiful college in a small town. The mall is lined with dutch elm trees with an expansive greenbelt for any activity. Most buildings are over 100 years old with a nice mix of modern.

Always love going to Berkey Creamery for the best ice cream in the world and being served by the best college students in the country.

My visit to the PSU campus was during the UofArizona v PSU baseball series in May 2019.
I will walk campus as I enjoy the exercise. Since PSUs campus covers 7, 958 acres, UofAs 380 acres, I toured the campus by vehicle.
The campus is tree & lawn covered with extensive roadways providing access to all parts. The spacious area allows for plenty of room between buildings and ease of travel for 40,000+ student body. The buildings, facilities and roadways are well maintained.
With the athletic facilities set at the southeast adjacent to the campus, the access roads and large parking lots provide entrance/exit with little impact on campus pedestrian traffic. I only visited the baseball park and it is a great venue for attending a game. $5 GA seats in the field level allows seating next to your teams dugout. Its well designed and maintained. The outfield wall, distance, height & angles, are the same as Pittsburg Pirates PNC Park. Mt Nittany provides a great background view above the outfield wall.
I enjoyed everything about my visit to PSU and the surrounding area. The baseball games were welled played and officated with UofA winning all 3 games by scores of 11-2, 15-5 & 9-5. Thank you PSU Baseball staff, fans & stadium personnel for you hospility during our visit. Looking forward to PSU Baseball visit to UofA in May 2020!

Calm & peaceful, green & happy, lovely place to stay :)
Was there for a conference long back, enjoyed my 2 days in Penn state university.

Good food, pleasant atmosphere. Friendly servers. Reasonable prices! Everything I look for when I eat away from home!

Beautiful college. Son went for 4 years and loved it. Great College Town. If you love college football there is no other place like it in the world!

Sports Museum in the Stadium is beautiful. They ask for a small donation. Its worth it. they are so nice and accommodating, mostly volunteers. Free simple stadium tour. Campus is great. 4 miles long. easy to tour. If you are a fan, its a must go. I am not but as a football fan in general it was a great experience. Nice place.

My husband and I toured campus while our daughter met with professors. This campus is beautiful and in pristine condition. We visited in March, so nothing was blooming or leafed out yet, but all the lawns still looked well manicured, sidewalks were in like new condition and there was no trash to be seen anywhere. The buildings on campus were amazing to see, so many very large structures! The views of the mountains around campus were beautiful. We loved our walking tour of this campus.

School spirt is everywhere at penn state. Beautiful campus. Great college town with lots of stores and restaurants.

I have lived in State College since 1951...with Penn State University being part of our Town & Gown! The Campus has wonderful activites to be involved with all the time.
The atmosphere of the is always upbeat and friendly.
WE ARE........Penn State!

I’ll start with decent place but… Overpriced, underwhelming and lacking in the usual and customary services one would expect after $1300/night stay in the middle of the metropolis that is Penn State University… We went for our son’s graduation and felt as though we were simply ripped off. I get it that it’s graduation weekend, but I think people in general would be ok with paying a more reasonable rate per night. At this per night rate, you would think that you may get a complimentary breakfast, which is usual and customary at MANY hotels. Not here and certainly not for a measly $1300/night rate. Don't forget the 20% PA effective hospitality tax rate. Apparently, there isn’t enough profit margin for $10 eggs, $5 muffins, or $2 coffee for a 2 person stay. Not even a 2 oz small box of cheerios! Save the supply and demand argument, because nothing has changed at any of the area hotels which justify a rate of $1300/night at Penn State, where the average daily rate is $190 to $250. These hotels just jack up the prices to unconscionable levels and just steal your money with very little service. I don't think they've updated their elevators in 30+ years, to the point that I was hesitant to even ride the elevator to my floor. Think of all the people who must scrimp and save a ton of money just to go to the graduation ceremony to see their child graduate after 4 years who can’t really afford this. And it’s abhorrent even for the people who can afford it, they should be ripped off? Why? Save your money, watch the graduation live stream on YouTube and keep these hotels empty.

Visiting campus and the stadium is a must when traveling to State College. People are polite and the area is beautiful.

I bleed blue and white (so I might be biased) but PSU is a really beautiful campus to walk around, even if you aren't affiliated with the university in anyway. There's lots of nooks and crannies with pretty fountains and landscaping. Plus there are lots of cool things to check out- the Palmer Museum of Art and nearby sculpture garden, the All Sports Museum, and what visit would be complete without a trip the to Creamery!

One of the best organized campuses I have ever visited. Plenty of parking if you are willing to walk a bit. Recommend using a bike to get around, or ride the carta buses if walking is not your thing. The Hub has all kinds of food, or take your pick on college ave which borders the southern side of campus. Hotels and chain restaurants on east and northern side of campus.

I had the opportunity to visit the University this summer. The building are all made of bricks and there has been some construction going on.
I spent a couple of hours at their garden. It's gorgeous and really well maintained.
The creamery is the place to go if you have a sweet tooth.

Walked campus at night after a football game, totally slammed up drunk students everywhere. Loud crude and falling down drunks too, not quiet ones. Shameful display and I am an alumni. Tailgates with fully stocked bar and cheap-o malt liquor cans galore.

One of the best Universities in the Country. Beautiful campus with tons of things to do. Plenty of Restaurants nearby

The PSU Alumni Association planned a fabulous week for the Alumni Achievement Awards! It was an experience I'll never forget!

Got a BS from State. Great academics, athletics, and networking/involvement programs. Will be going back to visit for football for years to come.

We love this university and the area. It's really so nice... We also attended their Graduation program. It was so organize. We love the place.

Summer is an awesome time to visit the penn state campus! We enroll our 8 year old in the art day camp, which he LOVES! We walk approx 7 miles a day taking in the sights on campus, downtown & the surrounding areas. Some of our favorite activities or locations: the creamery, the duck pond at the graduate building, the Earth & Mineral museum (not to be missed), the anthropology museum (shrunken heads), the HUB, Shavers Creek, Penns Cave, hiking Mt Nittany, the arboretum, Arts Fest, Astro Fest, coffee & a newspaper at a cafe, the restaurants, Palmer art museum, the All Sports museum, Millbrook Marsh Nature Center, the Nittany Lion Shrine & all the nooks & crannies of campus. It's the most relaxing vaca we take, and we come back every year.

Went to the Penn State Michigan game and had to find handicap parking. Those directly traffic were rude and did not help at all. We drove for an hour around in heavy traffic trying to find someone who could tell us were to park.

When you think of a classic college campus from a movie, it will look like Penn State! The campus continues to be a pleasure even after 30 years of building and changes. Go early and wear your walking shoes.

Went to Penn State for the July 4 fireworks. Has been advertised as one of the best displays in the country. Admission was only $10 per vehicle. You park set up you lawn chairs and enjoy a tailgate atmosphere until the fireworks start. They were fantastic the best display I have seen anywhere and it is set to music. I can say I have never seen an ending that compares to the one at Penn State. Plenty of parking and at the end officials had traffic moving and everyone was back on the road in no time. Not anywhere like the traffic mess in some others areas we have been to. Great evening and the kids loved it. We had two cars full. Definitely going back.

Typically go there for lunch with friends or for drinks before Penn State wrestling matches in nearby Rec Hall. Lunch on none University event days is fine but limited offerings. Drinks on event days is nearly impossible to enjoy due to the overcrowding. It seems that the University food services administrative leadership seems the ignore the need for a much larger bar. This results is staff that is overworked and makes it difficult for them to serve the large crowd that overwhelms the facilities. Parking is an additional factor that makes going to the Nittany Lion Inn which houses the Whisker's Bar.Both the bar and parking need to be expanded significantly.

Lovely campus in agricultural area. Must stop for farm fresh, homemade ice cream. Large campus and neat town.

Beautiful college campus with many winding sidewalks and enjoyable scenes and campus activity. Excellent football, sporting activities, arts and entertainment if you desire. WPS you.com offers a full calendar of events. Don't miss the Berkey creamery for the world-famous Penn State ice cream. I highly recommend the scholar chip The one size and one choice only ice cream cones or dishes. Ben and Jerry here!

Best in class university campus we have ever seen or visited. Green, serene, spread out and really enjoyed walking around and exploring. Ended the visit to superb Beaver stadium and Bryce Jordan center.

The grounds are beautiful. A great walk around the campus was interesting. Great old buildings with incredible architecture. Lush gardens, food available along my walk and homemade ice cream that was made fresh and tasted delicious. You can actually access the very cute downtown area around PSU via campus tours. Lots of cute little stores and TONS of eateries offering everything you could want. A walk back to the campus was like taking a walk through a historic area with SO much to see.

No. 1 son graduated from here and No. 2 is now attending. Though the campus is sprawling and has tons of students, the atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly. Even going to the financial aid office to get something resolved was painless and efficiently handled. The social and professional network the school offers is unsurpassed. If you have a son or daughter considering colleges, look no further!

This University is very friendly! I'm having a great time studying here! There is a lot of beautiful places to take great pics!

Talk about an impressive campus and football stadium ! Very historical, the campus was so clean and 9 of of 10 students I encountered had Penn State attire on, showing there is great school sprit on campus

Campus was nice and clean. Drove around a bit and stopped at the stadium and then the creamery to get some ice cream. I would have enjoyed going to college here - seemed like everything was well kept and the town has everything you need.

This is my alma matter and i love coming back here. Great memories. Great places to visit especially Beaver Stadium and the sports museum which is free! There are plenty of great hotels and restaurants in the area. The setting is in beautiful Nittany Valley with picturesque views of Mount nittany and Tussey Ridge.

We hadn't been back in a while and there have been some changes, but we love to walk the campus - especially in the summer when things are quieter. Always a beautiful place.

Grand and prestigious university with spectacular buildings, people, and sites. The campus is beyond beautiful, I would say breathtaking! Great education and social community involvement! Proud to be an alumni!

This was an admission tour for my son. The university had a way of making such a huge campus feel so small and friendly. The meteorology department went above and beyond with our family. A professor meet with us without even having an appointment to explain what my son can expect as a student of PSU.

When you think of the perfect college setting, Penn State is the place. What makes it so special? There's an energy you feel walking around campus. The buildings are spectacular and the grounds are amazing to walk. There are cool places for a picture (Nittany Lion shrine) and a stop at the Creamery for ice cream is a must. You can't describe what it's like to be at a football game, until you've attended one. This school has everything and years after graduating, you'll have connections with people from your past as well as meeting graduates who may benefit your career.

Never a dull moment at Penn State University. There is always something going on from sports to lectures to theatre and music.

Pennsylvania State University (aka Penn State or PSU) is the land grant institution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and was established in 1855. It is located in the Borough of State College within Centre County, central Pennsylvania. It is ALMOST the geographic center of the state. The actual geographic center is only a few miles north towards Bellefonte, located in a field that was formerly part of the farms of Rockview State Prison. Yes - the Pennsylvania State prison at Rockview. A common joke made for decades by high school students is "are you going to Penn State or to the State pen? Remember that Penn State is not the University of Pennsylvania. These are two vastly different universities. The University of Pennsylvania (U of P) is much older, established in the 1740s by Benjamin Franklin and is located in the city of Philadelphia, 200 miles southeast of Penn State.
The PSU is situated in State College, a town that is half local residents and half university students, around 70,000 in total. Perhaps 20 people know that Penn State is NOT located in University Park. This common error is due to the fact that there is a United States Post office on the campus that uses the designation "University Park" for zip code 16803. Since everyone mails things to this post office address, everyone thinks Penn State is in University Park - but that is wrong. In fact the actual location of the "real" University Park is the home of the University of MARYLAND, lol. So just point your vehicle towards central Pennsylvania and not due south and you will get there. Both the campus at Penn State and the borough of State College are good locations for visitors as well as future students. The university campus is rather huge so it is essential to wear comfortable shoes for walking. Any visit should focus on one major event or attraction because it is not possible to see and do everything in one visit. Major sports events take place in several locations at PSU. Football games draw over 100,000 people on weekends and take place inside the university's Beaver Stadium, the second largest in the USA. Basketball events, concerts and other major events take place inside the 15,000+ seat Bryce Jordan Center. Wrestling, volleyball and gymnastics are held in Rec Hall on the west end of campus, drawing 6000 to 8,000 people per event. There is a lovely Arboretum on the northeast end of campus, the Palmer Museum in central campus and social events at the Hetzel Union Building (HUB)/Robeson Center in south-central campus.
The town and surrounding municipalities (Patton, Ferguson, College and Harris townships) have numerous hotels, motels, restaurants and retail shops to suit almost everyone's taste. The bulk of activity takes place in a small stretch along College Avenue and Beaver avenue so that on football weekends it looks much like New York City crowds with sidewalks and shops packed to capacity. On campus every visitor should stop at the university's ice cream factory known as "the Creamery." Penn State, of course, is an agricultural and engineering behemoth and the students who major in Dairy Science produce the ice cream and cheeses sold in the Creamery. The department is a major player in dairy research and most famous ice cream brands, including "Ben and Jerry's" learned how to make ice cream at Penn State.
When you visit this university it is important to plan in advance whenever possible. Book hotels online or call for reservations because events like football and graduation make it nearly impossible to find a place to stay within 40 miles. Rates also skyrocket from a normal $55 room to a $600 room for football weekends. Most hotels will book up to one year in advance so it saves you aggravation if you check availability before you arrive. There is an airport nearby, actually owned by Penn State University and called the "University Park Airport" (see, even Penn Staters do not know where they live, lol). For flight information use airport code SCE. Like most American cities, parking your car can be a hassle but at least it is not that expensive in State College. There is an adequate public transportation system (CATA) that gets better the closer you are to the campus, including a free bus that circles the campus to save you some walking.
If you are coming to the area for a football game then be prepared for HUGE traffic congestion and long waits to park your car in or around the stadium. It is best to park your car at your hotel. Travel as a group in one car or walk to the stadium with thousands of others. Believe all the stories about tailgating - it is a major social event before and after the games. Bring lots of food. If you drive then remember where you are parked or it could take hours to find your own car. In fact it is best to remain in the parking lots for another 3 hours to let everyone else leave - have another picnic and relax.
Crime is not significant in the area but - of course - it happens. So lock your car all the time, put valuables into the hotel safe, use very good judgment. Penn State has a very good reputation for hospitality but there is always a thief somewhere in the crowd, stay alert. Have fun. Travel safely. Live long and prosper.

The Penn State event parking is ridiculous and a complete rip off! $20 per car for an event for which we had already paid $50+ each for tickets. You have to either put an app on your phone to pay or you have to pay onsite via your phone using a credit card before you go into the arena. The parking "assistants" don't do anything but give you a piece of paper with the info about paying - they don't control traffic flow or help guide you into where you are supposed to park. The Penn State parking situation for other things is also ridiculous especially for folk who are in town for just a few days visit as we do - for example, the former free parking to visit their arboretum has disappeared and now you have to load the app. We've stopped going to the arboretum, because of this, because of the parking ridiculousness!

I love the muesem at penn state. Lots of history plus love seeing things on joe pa. The field was the highlight for me. Great experience people go check this out

A beautiful campus. A great university education awaits those who will take advantage of the incredible opportunities and the breadth and depth of experiences. Educational outcomes are the product of both what is provided and what the student makes the effort to acquire. The opportunities here are incredible, but you have act in an adult manner and devote the effort to benefit. No reason to not enjoy all the craziness in the social whirl, but you must keep things in perspective. Yes there are huge numbers of people, but you can personalized help if you make the effort. It's worth it!

I always enjoy my visits with my son. We drive around the campus and town. It is a very beautiful campus with a lot of great architecture and history.

I travel a lot due to my job at a university in the Central Europe. I found PennState as one of the best university in geosciences - geography, geology, environmental science etc. The city centre is a heart of the university and everything in State College related to PennState. You see young people and many places to study, eat and relax.

The campus is huge! There are a lot of historic buildings mixed with new buildings. It is peaceful to walk through the campus in the evening and see everything lit up. Make sure you stop at the creamery on your tour!

The location itself is terrible. Coming from CA, it was a big change. There's not much to do, except go to bars, enjoy nature, or shop around merch stores. If you're into that, great! If you want something more, you're out of luck unless you own a car and willing to drive a few hours. Finding good flights from the tiny local airport is difficult. Pittsburgh Airport is a 3 hour drive away.

We go to Penn State often, for all football games, the Artsfest in July, 4th fest, spring game as well as other sporting events and just for fun. Always a great time.
Art

I graduated from here, so I may be a little biased. I enjoyed this place 15 years ago, when I went there, and still enjoy returning. It always has a very nice atmosphere. Make sure you get your picture with the Lion statue.

Penn State is a lovely college town to tour. It is in the middle of a very rural area. The buildings here are pretty and the rural farms and fields are very pretty throughout the various seasons.

Attended the Central PA Arts Festival. The Campus is a great place to walk and enjoys the arts. Many attractions and stuff to do in the area.

An absolutely beautiful campus! I recently attended my 50th Class Reunion and was inducted into the Pioneers. We had a wonderful visit to both the campus and downtown State College.

Good for family, friends or business. So much to see and enjoy. Good to visit in any season lots to do. Pick something you enjoy, lakes, swimming, golf, flowers, outdoors, education. Even camping in cabins close by or visiting a cavern and going for a walk in the caves.

My daughter will be an upcoming freshmen this fall at Penn State. She's majoring in Aerospace Engineering. She was offered the opportunity to join the PREF Program and I must say I was taken aback on how the staff and current students participating in running this program were very informative and knowledgeable. I was very impressed and felt safe in leaving my daughter in their care.
The campus itself is beautiful. And everyone seems to be supportive of each other.

Huge ice rink and comfortable seats everywhere. Check in was quick and easy and bathrooms clean and big

The most amazing atmosphere and incredible fans! This event is great for any age. Tailgating is the way to go to enjoy food and drink while socializing. Alcohol is not served in this venue so you could imagine the tailgating lol everyone was super friendly.

Beautiful campus to walk or drive around. Expect a line at the Nittany Lion shrine for pictures. The creamery and stadium are a must see when you're here.

I ended up checking out the campus on foot and a little by car. What a beautiful place! The architecture, mixture of old and new, history, views, landscaping. Most of us are aware of the negative or/and controversial events over the years, but not the beauty of its campus. It's like nothing I've ever seen before...so are the prices in the campus store, but that doesn't take away from it. I couldn't get enough of taking every turn on my path just to see what might come into my view few steps away. The mountains in the distance haven't spoiled the view either. Stroll through the streets of the campus and you'll see what I mean.

This is a very impressive University and I have visited a lot over the last several years. I am in charge of Research and Development at a fairly large company. This university has so many different disciplines that they are in the top 10 of the US, it makes it a one time stop for several specialties for me.
Staff and Faculty are amazing and very willing to work with Industry.

Daughter is a freshman at University Park. She is loving every minute of it. Such great school spirit

Took trip out to Pen St with my daughter who is very interested to attend. Impressed with all we saw..big but very small campus if makes sense? Easily walk to all points of campus..including downtown...programs seem top notch..along with support from academia which is huge....nice trip

I liked my time spent in Penn State and State College area. Its always alive there, a lot of restaurants and bars. I love the fact the the whole town is surrounded by mountains, such a great view.

Did a two day visit after son was accepted. Thankfully walking shoes on and 15k steps on my Fitbit completed by 3pm. It simply took our breathe away, the buildings, the investment in the architecture, the students and the professors is very evident. Yes it's a big school, yes it's not new york or Boston but we didn't meet a person who didn't should "we are" without s level of passion.
The school was very organised for the tours and the information delivered was well laid out. The anthropology Professor Kirk French was a standout for us. Top tips:. Nittany Inn is a great location, super clean and great staff. Really make sure you are geared to walk and it is still pretty chilly in March so hat, scarf, jacket (we had snow) are essential.

Berkey creamery, not to be missed. Watch the staff never mix-up an order eventhough the line up can be snaking till outside the main entrance.

I returned back not having visited in 20 years. It was Fall, so the campus was beautiful (not yet a frozen wasteland).
The campus had grown. The addition of parking decks was helpful.
It would have been good if things like the geology museum was open on the weekend, but it was not.
It was easy to navigate around campus as there was decent signage.

Mom and I both attended PSU, as did my grandmother, my grandfather, my pop Joe, my brother and uncle. We're a Penn State family. Seeing the beauty of the campus, well maintained, the new buildings and the always friendly Happy Valley staff made our hearts swell! We're very proud to say "We are Penn State!!!"

This is my first visit to the campus and I am totally blown away by it's beauty. The campus has the old building charm with new construction mixed in. I love how convenient the downtown is for the students to take care of all their needs. I agree that it is Happy Valley and I am certain my son will be very happy here!

PSU is in a very nice area, very safe. There is so much to do and lots of great school spirit ! I can see now why they call it Happy Valley!

Excellent school and grounds! Took a self guided tour and easily navigated with a map and took the blue loop campus bus.

We never imagined there was so much to offer to students who are fortunate enough to study here. The campus is impressive as it sits in a very picturesque setting with a town that offers everything and is built around the campus. The sports facilities are like no other, and attending a football game with it's student involvement and excitement they exude at the games made attending an NFL game seem dull. The school offers so many majors and best of all, the alumni networking helps their graduates find placement in the workplace. This is the perfect place for my kids to attend college!

Had an opportunity to visit the campus after a Field hockey tournament. This place is fantastic. Campus was found to be very clean and we'll cared for. Kids had fun visiting all of the buildings.

Absolutely the best football atmosphere I've ever seen. Tailgaters as far as you can see and unlike some college fans, everyone at PSU was nice. Highly recommend even if you're not a PSU fan... or even a football fan.

All kinds of things to do here like see Billy Joel in concert (GREAT Show) or go watch a football game (go Nittany Lions!) or go to the Creamery (YUM). This will have you ready to go back for another degree.

Visited Campus for first time. Nice place to take a walk in the summer as most students are gone. Pretty as far as college campuses go

Had a lovely interview weekend for the PhD program! The students were amazing hosts! A beautiful place to study! Surrounded by hills and valleys and small streams, and right there in its midst comes Penn State! Wonderful!

It is always a good time when we visit or kids at PSU. There is a lot to do there on campus. We went to see a show on campus performed by the students.

This is one of the best if not the best University in Pennsylvania. It offers a great education to the students, provides a great entertainment to the center region, and hosts the opportunities for families and visitors.l

Founded in 1855 as the Pennsylvania Farmers High School, it was then known as the Agricultural College of Pennsylvania in 1862, renamed the Pennsylvania State College in 1874 and finally in 1953 named Pennsylvania State University.
The campus is huge and a map from the visitors' center was a big help. We walked the grounds in November and can only image what it would look like in the spring and summer. There is an arboretum on campus, though the campus itself looks like one. There is the iconic (c.1930) Old Main, the centerpiece of campus, huge Beaver stadium, the Jordan Center, attractive architecture and landscaping, history, as well as the wonderful Berkey Creamery. In 1892 Penn State became the 1st University to offer courses in ice cream production management. They also have a very nice, but expensive bookstore.
On campus there is also the classic (c.1931) Nittany Lion Inn that was unfortunately closed due to Covid? It looks like renovations are ongoing and hopefully it will return to its status as the finest lodging in State College. Around 46,000 fortunate students call Penn State home.

I went during Parents and Family weekend. It was a wonderful weekend with great activities for EVERYONE. We attended the AstroNight and tour of Beaver Stadium. If you ever get a chance, you should really visit, it's a wonderful experience.

Went to Penn State for a college visit. The entire campus is very large and laid out well. The grounds are well kept and it is apparent they take pride in the upkeep. Everyone we spoke with was vey personal able and laid back. Hopefully we will return sometime.

50th reunion for class of 72! Alumni association did fantastic join. University Park is wonderfully quiet and beautiful during summer months.

A great university with many proud alumni! A fun college town but wonderful curricula. A PSU diploma is impressive. Lots of after class activities. Wide range of studies. Beautiful new buildings. Great place to visit as well. Then there’s always football (and hockey, wrestling, volleyball etc.).

enjoyed our visit to Penn State. Toured with our college daughter. Loved our weekend accommodations at Best Western Plus. Great weekend

As an alumni I have returned with my children for more than 40 years. It is always fun to come back and go to a fall football game. One must also visit the Berkey Creamery is a must. The best ice cream. One comment is that Beaver Stadium needs to be updated and the university is doing a study to renovate. The reason I say this is that the benches in most of the stadium are labeled for people weighing 100 pounds so the rows are quite packed and close together. Nonetheless the games are a fantastic event.

This is one of the best University campuses. The grounds are always perfectly maintained and the campus is very safe and offers a ton of options for public transportation. It is located in the middle of the state, with State College Borough and many other smaller municipalities border the campus. Awesome place with tons of things to do around town any time of the year.

We were given a very extensive tour of the stadium and athletic hall of fame. Very interesting and the alum who guided us seemed to have as much time as we wanted. Its indeed a magnificent facility!

Being from a well known southern university with a storied football program and campus, it was a treat to finally see and walk the campus, and meet the people of Penn State.
The first thing that struck me was the overall energy and beauty of the grounds. There are old buildings intermixed with ultra modern buildings, and yet it all flows together. I particularly enjoyed the little historical markers describing past academic success.
There is a vibrant “strip” of shops, bars, and restaurants on the downhill side of the University. I’m sure these are really hopping on football weekends.
Part of its allure is its relative isolation and surrounding natural beauty. I flew in to the State College Airport, which reminds me of airports that serve small Caribbean islands. This puts you about a 5 minutes drive from the stadium side of campus. Some colleagues flew into Harrisburg, I believe the next closest option, and drove a couple hours.
The athletic facilities appear top notch, with Beaver stadium the crown jewel. It’s glowing Lion logo lights up the night.
We were involved with some engineering activities on campus, and we were amazed by the sheer size and numbers of facilities that were available. The learning factory appears to be a great resource. The other degree disciplines also were well represented in this very large university. It took us about 25 minutes to walk from one end to the other, so bring comfortable shoes.
This is an overall great place to visit and explore. I could see why people go to school here, and why they are passionate about their school.

Visiting with friends for a football game, we were struck by the friendliness of everyone we met of all ages. The campus is easy to walk with sidewalks and historic plaques to keep it interesting in addition to the lovely landscaping and architecture. Great walking campus!

We took an enjoyable walk through campus and visited the Penn State Creamery. It was interesting to see both the historic buildings alongside new construction on this ever growing campus.

I went to PSU from 2007-2011 and I would trade those years is for anything. Met the best people learned from the best professors and got a great job. Can't go wrong. WE ARE!!!!

Penn State University Park Campus in State College, PA is a great place to visit. There are a variety of interesting places to see including the Arboretum, Palmer Art Museum, Bryce Jordan Center and Beaver Stadium. Beautifully kept campus is nice to tour. Recommend Myers Dairy on the south side of town rather than Berkey Creamery for ice cream.

There are many museums, displays, exhibits and things to see on campus. From the Library to the sports museum, from bugs to weather. An excellent place to take children who will learn there are many exciting things to learn about and to study. Before you visit, go to the PSU website and do some planning. There are places to eat and a visit to the Creamery is a must.

Their football stadium looks like a NFL stadium status from the outside. Another thing the universty is very charming. Third there is a sature of the Nitney Lion.Finelly it is easy to get around.

A large campus. If walking is a problem there is a bus to tour the campus! Very well kept grounds with so much to see. The new law building is a must see. Arrange in advance for a tour. The stadium is across from law building with a museum-a must see for sports fans.
So much to see on campus with huge shade trees and benches to rest while sight seeing. Try one of the restaurants
And don't pass up the creamery !

We were in State College for the Bruce Springsteen concert but arrived five hours early and had a great time wandering around the beautiful campus (of course it helped that it was sunny with blue skies and just a little cooling breeze). The Art Gallery was closed but looked good. Wonderful student union. The frescoes located on the upper walls of Old Main’s lobby are definitely worth a visit. The grounds are well kept and the folks on campus are very friendly and helpful (at least three people asked us at various times if we needed directions when we were just wandering around rather aimlessly - we didn't appreciated the offers). Great creamery.

Visited PSU to leave my son in college. Campus is beautiful to walk around and State College town right next to campus offers plenty of dining and shopping options.
Surrounding area is very nice to drive around.

I had a Daughter (Michelle Madden) Graduate from there in 2006. Her Nittany Lion education has really proven to be a Good One... The Job Fairs that the State College students get to experience are like no other in America..!! Cheers to all of the Friendly and Helpful people at Penn State...!! The Administration, the Faculty, the Athletic Staff and all the Lucky Students...!!! WE ARE PENN STATE...!!!!

Penn State is a great University, with an absolutely beautiful campus. Education aside (which is great), the campus is wonderful to walk or drive through, and is very scenic in many areas.
Definitely spend some time here......

The university campus is a beautiful location to spend a few hours. Among the things to see the lion shrine, symbol of the university, the duck pond, the library, and all the statues that, during time alumni donated to the university.

One must visit penn state university campus when in state College. You can see a nice combination of modern and contemporary design in the campus along with grand lush green grounds.

This campus is beautiful, clean with a friendly atmosphere. It was easy to find your way and people are very friendly. The food is tasty, the hotel is clean and cheap. Wonderful shuttle service. I love the University with a lot of great opportunity for the kids, except I won't be able to afford the tuition. I will love to go back.

Disclosure: I've been attending Penn State football games since before I was born, I studied here for 4 years, and I am currently a season ticket holder. I love this place and everything that it stands for. It offers an amazing education because the university attracts some of the best staff and researchers in the world. The campus is HUGE but if you love walking you don't mind; if you do, it is a bike friendly campus and there are buses. The buildings are mostly gorgeous; some are historic while others are new and modern looking and still others are in need of renovations. There are hundreds of clubs and organizations for students to get involved in, if you have an interest, there is a club for it!

A beautiful special place with an equally great town. What a super University with so many opportunities for a great education and a great place to make lasting friendships and relationships. The best career chances with an outstanding recruitment fair for future professionals. Consistently ranked as one of the best in the country. A University with great character and outstanding professors and faculty. A true gem! So much to do outside of academia...top sports, beautiful countryside, super facilities, theatre, golf, swimming, and so much more. A Very Happy Valley

Love this campus and all the wonderful kids you see go by. Everyone is always with a smile on their face and they have always been super friendly to me. Clean and spacious walkways and beautiful buildings. Love the old and the new contemporary buildings. Great campus feel.

We were here for a concert and had a great time! We have also been here for week long volleyball camps. There is so much to do and the campus is amazing! We visited the store, the sports museum and the creamery...All great! The campus is very clean and we felt very safe at all times. We stayed in the freshman dorms three years in a row, they definitely left something to be desired! The buildings we stayed in had no air conditioning and stunk, but that is the only negative thing we encountered...

We were in town for a swim meet and the kids loved seeing where it all began. The Nittany lion statue, old main, college avenue bars, the library, etc. The facilities are superb and well taken care of.

We stopped to see the campus. It was a gorgeous day and the campus was beautiful. Lots of blooming trees everywhere. If you enjoy seeing other campuses, this one is worth a stop and walk around. We learned more about land grant colleges. Stopped for yummy ice cream. There are maps all around to help you navigate the college.

Best advice to visitors: ditch the car and walk!
Buildings: from 100+ year old to very modern, many styles
Campus: huge, with a wonderful collection of trees of all kinds including the grand procession of Elms on the mall. Enjoy extensive pedestrian only walkways.
Treasure hunt: find the "whispering wall" along College Ave, the obelisk "detector", the banana plant, and the great creamery that claims to have invented mint chocolate chip ice cream. There are lots of exhibits and galleries scattered around the campus plus a main art museum. Some great golf links are on the west side of campus.
PSU is also all about people. A huge student body supports all sorts of intramural and collegiate sports. The outdoor club is huge and covers all sorts of fitness events.
Look around at one of the finest locations in central Pennsylvania - its called Happy Valley for a reason. Fall foliage is as big here as Cherry Blossoms are to Wash DC.
I spent 6 years here as an undergraduate and the campus is event better now. Met my future wife. Made great long lasting friendships. Study abroad. Living off campus in a cool home. All good.
Saw some good football in the Franco Harris era. We are......

When my daughter was applying to colleges almost two years ago, she made a list of priorities for her first choice:
1) the school had to be large
2) the campus and the surrounding area had to be attractive and inviting
3) the school had to have her major and interesting coarses for her to study
4) it had to have a lot of clubs and other activities for her to join ( important- she bores easily)
5) it had to have some diversity a large population of the opposite sex!
6) it had to have a vibrant sports team; somewhere with student pride and spirit
And after almost fifteen schools and several merciless campus visits, the decision was a no brainer: Penn State University Park!
She is maturing and taking advantage of all the opportunities the university can provide. Is it perfect, no ( out of state tuition is a little high) but for a school to meet 5 out 6 of her requirements is pretty good and worth it.
So now I shout , “ We Are” from the top of my lungs ( to the utter dismay of my daughter) at the students when I see them at Welcome Weekend or whenever we visit.
I guess it’s false to say Disney World is the “ happiest place on earth”; Penn States Happy Valley can claim that distinction!😄😄😄

Penn State is a beautiful campus to walk around. The Elm trees in Fall are a must see. Everything is within walking distance to downtown which made the visit so convenient. You get the small town feeling at a big Campus.

While at Penn State University, I couldn't help but notice Mesha - the hardest working person on campus. He moved me by his attention to detail and his dedication to his job. After approaching Mesha to compliment him on his hardworking nature, I quickly learned he is much more than a hard worker. He's friendly, caring, compassionate and truly takes great pride in his work. Penn State is blessed to have Mesha and I feel honored to have met such an inspiring individual!

Had the opportunity to tour the Penn State Creamery. A must if in State College. Toured Beaver Stadium as well. Very cool.

Went on a college tour of the school. Was impressed by the campus. Good presentation by the admissions office and tour guides. Only weakness was the dorm room at Pollack. Liked downtown being so accessible.

To experience the best of Penn State's campus, spend an hour or two on a leisurely walking tour. The diverse architecture alone is reason to do so, but it will give you a chance to interact with students as well. Regardless of the season, there is always something fun to do. Palmer Museum of Art is well worth a visit (check out Docent's tours on Sundays). We love catching hockey games at Pagula Ice Arena, volleyball and gymnastics at Rec Hall, basketball, wrestling and concerts at Bryce Jordan Center. Don't miss the Arboretum!!!! So beautiful! Good lunch options are Whiskers Pub (inside Nittany Lion Inn) or Au Bon Pain in the Kern Graduate Building.

Peen state University in Pennsylvania has a wonderful campus. Good to tour inside the University to experience such a great campus. The campus merges between old and new buildings in a nice way.
Great facilities and near by the downtown of state college.
Good to visit and tour inside such great University.

While I am a PSU grad, I did not graduate from this campus, however, I have a lot of family history here. The Frear building is named after my Great Uncle. I love the history, and walk the campus to read the historical placards. I was on campus in the evening, and loved watching the sun set behind Old Main. The architecture on campus is great too, from the Old Main area with the older buildings to Beaver Stadium, The Paterno Library, to the Bryce Jordan Center. The construction is amazing and a great place to walk and earn my "steps" with the fitbit.

I'll admit I am biased due to attending Penn State University and have lived in the area for 20 years. This expansive campus is awesome. Old world buildings that are carefully maintained are mixed with bright new structures on the cutting edge. Plenty of trees and landscaping make this huge university homey. The grounds are always spotless. Visit any time of year for a unique experience. There is always an event to attend! There are too many things to see and do to include in this brief review. Go to their website: psu.edu for more. The drawbacks I would mention are constant construction, high car traffic and parking is at a premium. Don't let this deter a visit; just plan ahead.

I am a proud graduate of PSU and love visiting the campus and downtown. The Lion Shrine is a MUST do attraction while you are there to visit, plus the obvious stop at the Creamery, Beaver Stadium, Palmer Museum, and other local attractions on campus. The campus has changed dramatically over the years and walking around is easy. Nice to see some of the old building again but I wonder if a place like Chambers is ever gonna get a facelift!! WE ARE!!!

Love this university--lovely place, wonderful facilities, and great to tour on a sunny fall day. Be sure to see the Cafe Laura and maybe catch a great football game, or women's volleyball!

This was a city, albeit a very well outfitted university with lots of well kept building and campuses with campuses. The size is intimidating.

Had a gymnastics meet then went and watched a college meet very enjoyable. Wanted to go to the creamery but line was way too long due to it opening for the first time after the renovations

Freshman move in day.
Great organization and easy move in day.
Extremely helpful employees directing you. I wish I was the student....
Great school

The energy at this campus is electric. We had a wonderful time at the New Student Orientation (NSO) for our son this year. There is so much to do on and off campus. Hiking Skiing, sports events and the food and shopping choices made it a memorable occasion. So nervous about sending him off to the middle of the state, but he is loving it and we are so proud of him. My daughter can't wait to go when she graduates.
If you are going to go visit for certain events, make sure you plan far in advance. Hotels and lodging sell out very fast.

We visited Penn St. on a college visit and loved the school. Beautiful campus and grounds. Make sure to visit the CREAMERY for ice cream! you will not want to miss it.

This was a nostalgic trip as my father, mother, and three nieces graduated from Penn State. They have managed to meld the Old with the new seamlessly, and we were able to navigate the campus with ease, and even managed some photo ops at the Nittany Lion Shrine, entrance to Old Main, and Braver Stadium. We’ve been to many college campuses over the years, but Penn State is one of the prettiest and most well-maintained. I was thrilled to have my picture taken at the spot where my mom had hers taken in the 1940’s. We are . . .

We did a college tour on July 29th. One of the freshmen dorms are fairly new and clean, just didn't like that there werent any hand towels in the hall bathrooms to dry your hands. The campus is huge, but walkable. It's a racist town outside of the campus, just make note before sending your child there for college.

If you have kids heading for college take time off and visit this campus and stay at the Nittany Lion Inn. This is the classic American college campus experience with all bells and whistles with a visit to the stadium as icing on the cake (reserve a stadium tour well in advance or show up at the gate).

It takes some moxie to qualify for freshman placement on Penn State's main campus, but those who merit it are bound for a grand time both socially and academically. Penn State never disappoints. Of course you "can't get there from here," so all of the customs, traditions, and culture are "home grown," so to speak, but students, academicians, if I may, and locals seem to have a knack for making this major university an attraction as well as a top flight center of higher education.

While at Penn State I saw a show at the Eisenhower Theater. The theater is awesome, with a ton space in the isle and a lot of seat room. The show was a Broadway show for a lot less than you pay in NYC. I would travel the distance again to see a show there.

Located in Central Pennsylvania the drive will take you through and along some wonderful scenic areas from any approach. The campus and surrouding town are as large as many cities, but near no large city. Penn States Ice Cream parlor is famous and worth a stop.

Most reviewers of Penn State have focused on the education & campus. Whereas I am a proud grad & endorse the positives that others have mentioned, my review reveals a hidden culinary treasure. When I went to college is the 60's, dormitory dining halls did not serve haute cuisine. In fact, I would be hard-pressed to mention a dish that I remember fondly. But recently, I have had the opportunity to dine (I choose the word deliberately) in the Penn State dormitory dining halls. I found the choices to be nearly overwhelming from salad bars to a grilled entree station to made-to-order omelettes to pasta & pizza. Add in fresh-baked & still warm cookies, day to day special pastries, & make-your-own ice cream cones & bowls with toppings (of course featuring Penn State's famous Creamery ice cream), & you have dined, not just had lunch. Best of all, this array is not limited to students. Anyone can take advantage of this dining opportunity. The rules are that it's credit card only & one price (currently $11 & change for lunch) covers all of the choices. So if you still have a bad taste in your mouth from the food you subsisted on when you were in college ages ago, treat yourself to the new world of dormitory cuisine the next time you are on campus.

Just not a place that reeks of anything except PSU-speak. Not impressed as it lacked a lot of culture as far as we saw.

The quintessential college experience. Penn State offers big school choices in a small town setting. Clean, safe, lots of fun.

On a recent college tour with my daughter we visited Penn State. What an amazing campus. It's very big, so if you're not afraid of how large it is you will find it spectacular. They've thought of everything on this campus and the surrounding city of State College has everything students will need during their time their. If you visit you must try the ice cream shoppe on campus, it's a must visit and eat!

While visiting the area, we went on campus to walk around. Holy cow! If you haven't been there, it's worth it just to visit the arboretum. There are other buildings worth seeing, not to mention the incredible football stadium (the second largest in the country). Oh, and for goodness sake, if you're there, you HAVE to go to the creamery. It is, no exaggeration, the BEST ice cream I've ever had, and I'm seventy years old! They make their own ice cream, literally from cows that they own on the property, and I had one scoop in a cone that equaled about two and a half scoops anywhere else. It took me about a half hour to eat the dang thing. Just throw out your concerns of high cholesterol and your weight for one day -- it's worth it!
I could go on and on, but just know that you'll be blown away by the campus, and also just strolling along College Ave. right outside the campus.

I did not attend Penn State, but our daughter did and I loved every minute of our time there as a PSU family. Talk about school spirit!

Graduated in 1970. Visited granddaughter following in the tradition. Campus is beautiful and very friendly. I love coming back.

This was my first trip to Happy. Valley and I can say I left happy. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of artist and the number of vendors was extraordinary! Go!!

the campus is impressive to just drive around and also great for walking through as a park. We enjoyed baby bunnies and baby ducklings , quite tame on our stroll with our grandchildren.

Not a huge place but lots of different plants and flowers to see. It's within walking distance of the PSU Creamery and fun to double-up. The Halloween pumpkin fest and summer concerts are also a lot of fun.

I got in love with the campus, I want my kids to study here! The academic personnel I had the luck to met in the symposium I assist was extraordinary in knowledge and professionalism.

Was only here temporarily in their metabolomics lab, but it was really quite fun to explore the HUGE campus. The surrounding downtown area is very college-centric and the visiting alumni (as well as students) were quite friendly. Watch out for the random rain showers and humidity west coasters!

I came here for Arts fest weekend 2016 and it was such a great campus to walk around on. The creamery is a must stop. There is so much to do and see. The campus has a small downtown area with restaurants/shops and bars. Great little town.

PENN STATE UNIVERSITY STATE COLLEGE is a beautiful academic environment in close proximity to nice Hotels and Tourist attractions. The college is equipped with modern day facilities conducive to academic and research programs. My son who attends this college has made visiting this campus an exciting moment to look forward to as there is never a dull moment whenever my family visits. As a member of PARENTS AND FAMILY ASSOCIATION, my wife and I appears integrated into the university system for vital decision making process which make us vital and valuable.

A quality education surrounded by rolling hills a lively student body and the best ice cream in the state of Pennsylvania what's not to love

We are alumni returning for a visit to enjoy Artfest. Lots of positive changes and more on the way. Blue loop bus was nice. Alumni hall was nice. Of coarse a picture with the Lion Shrine a must do as well as a stop at The Creamy

First time there and found it to be a great little town with great service wherever we went. Everything was easy to find and always helpful people around if needed. Look forward to returning.

OK, I'm biased since I am an alumni, but this is one of the greatest locations on this planet. I love the people, the campus, the school spirit and of course the terrific education I received.
The town-gown relationship is perfect and I can just go on and on but there are plenty of rankings that explain it all.
WE ARE PENN STATE!

My daughter goes to Penn State University and she LOVES it the teachers are very nice and they actually help there students until they know what there doing!

Absolutely beautiful college campus. My alma mater is one of the nicest and largest campuses to stroll along with so much to do. Old Main and The Mall boast a true vintage college atmosphere. Carnegie, Willard, and Sparks are just a few of the many historic classroom buildings. The Business Building and Law School showcase modern architecture and are beautiful. The HUB (student center) is a nice visit with the official Bookstore inside. Countless Division One sports games to attend, all stadiums are amazing. The Arboretum shouldn't be missed. All in all, a real college campus that truly defines a large University. I would recommend capping off your visit with ice cream from the Berkey Creamery, a real Penn State tradition.

We were at Penn State for three days for our child's high school science competition. Other than the wild weather (rain, snow, sun, sleet and lots of wind in May), there is a lot to do on or near campus, including sight see, shop, eat, wineries, craft breweries and movies.

What an amazing institution. The entire State College area is geared towards the University. Beaver Stadium is surreal. The new Ice Hockey Arena is spectacular. The University Philanthropy is beyond belief.

This college campus is very clean yielding visitors a good feeling. The campus itself is not that big, but certainly their well known football stadium is huge with a well organized parking areas/spots. Visitors should take note of their special markings on their grass and other nearby areas.

I've been Penn State three times and was always pleased. The new Pegula Ice arena is a state of the art arena that matches most in the AHL and even NHL arenas and has a loud fan base. Bryce Jordan Center is a nice place to see a basketball game. I didn't see a game at Medlar Field at Lubrano park but what I saw looked nice. And of course Beaver Stadium, can't find a better place to watch college football.

Penn State has a very beautiful campus. We were driving through to New York and decided to spend a day in State College. We walked all over campus, as it was summer so there were not that many people on campus. There are some great trees, there are plaques explaining the history of some of the trees, especially around the Botany building. The campus was very clean and tidy, we enjoyed our walk.

Penn State is a college experience unlike all others with a small town feel and a world class facilities.

Football games are great time to be at the university but the hotel gets booked well in advance. So go to the university visit when there is no football game.

Fantastic celebration in Beaver Stadium. While it would have been nice to have been able to bring more family to the stadium to celebrate, it was a perfect day for those of us lucky enough to have an in-person graduation.

A huge, clean, well run operation. Tell them scoop or shake, get moved to scooper for flavor, and tell them cone or cup, and be prepared. One size fits all and it's HUGE and only about $3. Excellent service and ice cream. And a quick trip in and out. Fantastic.

My son attended Penn State for his undergraduate studies and just recently earned his EMBA.
He was very pleased with his education.
I visited the campus for his graduation. The campus is beautiful, the buildings are well maintained and the grounds are manicured and litter free.

I took the opportunity during alumni weekend to go to the top of Old Main and view the university and countryside from the bell tower. It was an impressive view, but a difficult climb for older people.

My daughter graduates today from PSU. We toured the Campus and I was floored. It is huge, clean, organized, and awe inspiring. If you want to see what a campus looks like that is just about a small city, I highly recommend the Penn State University Park Campus in State College, PA. If you get a chance to go to the Creamery there, I would suggest the Lion Smores ice cream. Best ice cream I ever had.

State College and the campus as a whole might be the most overrated location I have ever experienced. I lived in the town for three years (not as a student) and once you get past football weekends it is nothing more than a town isolated in the middle of the state that caters to partying students. November through March have terrible weather and it is difficult to enjoy anything outdoors. The campus is nothing special especially when you have seen many others across the country. The bottom line is PSU is a cult in the state driven entirely by their worship of football.

Great School! Just wish that tuition for out of state students was a little less expensive! Beautiful campus and am
amazing ice cream!

Love staying at the Nittany lnn best way to walk to campus. I think the university has great things happening. From the games to art to the creamery. We are Penn State

Extremely large campus, walkable and feeling of a safe area. Great little shops in town for food and beverages. Gitta check out the ice cream at the creamery!

Impressive academic resources.
Beautiful and very clean campus.
Excellent signage for first time guests; friendly staff.
Decent Ice-cream bar selections; they make very good ice cream.

Greatest thing I've ever done with my life is going to Penn state. It's a small city with everything. It's downtown area consists of college and beaver avenues. You can walk everywhere. No car needed. The people I met, even the Pittsburgh folks, are still my best friends today. The life lessons learned are invaluable. The parties are great and there are 25 bars you can walk to if you live downtown. A fool to apply anywhere else. Don't screw this up.

We went for a tour of the U:
-well run
-nice student tour guides
-clean campus, very well kept
-collegiate feel
-good admissions presentation
-student lunch provided was edible lol

There's ALWAYS something to do, somewhere to go, something to learn, and the campus is beautiful. Full of life and of course, students everywhere. Such a nice, friendly atmosphere. Love walking and exploring Downtown State College and the quaint little stores and galleries. Be very careful driving though. Did I mention there are students EVERYWHERE!!

Always a delight visiting the campus. We brought 4 Grandchildren to the Blue and White Game and stayed for the weekend. Mtheyi lived it all.

I never went to college, but my oldest daughter has here. My 1st day for my wife and I to walk around and look. Beautiful. Spring is just starting and a little of trees and flowers are starting to bloom. College is clean and very cool. Wish I could have a do over.

We went to the creamery and walked around. It was nice to show the kids. We will do it again when we are in the area. Always something to do in and around campus.

The PSU campus is lovely at any time of the year thanks to the loving care the Horticultual students and groundskeeper give it. The buildings - both historic and new - provide interesting architecture to view. The Nittany Lion statue/shrine is a must for a photo. Loads of activities are available at any given time whatever your interest. Broadway troupes and national stars are sometimes in for a show in addition to the local talent. The downtown of State College is almost an extension of the University campus featuring lots of shops, restaurants, pubs, and more. Parking can be a bit difficult on campus although there are several garages. One has to scope that out in advance. The downtown has parking on street and in garages and is an easy walk to campus. If one can get a Thursday paper, the insert lists all the activities for the weekend and following week. Local transportation is good with bus and taxi service available. A free local magazine “Town & Gown” also lists activities and has interesting articles on local folk.
Strip Malls on each end of town offer more hotels, shops, supermarkets, Attractions out of town such as state and local parks and historic towns like Bellefonte offer added opportunities. Your other reviewer has it right. Be sure to go to the Creamery - or the Meyers Dairy on S.Atherton that features not only great ice cream but products right from their farm. Warning: if you are not coming for a football game, you may want to come at another time as lodgings, restaurants and streets are crowded then.

THE premier state school in Pennsylvania! Fantastic facility, educational environment and opportunities are endless. Locate in the quaint town of State College, a perfect blend of a small town atmosphere with "big city" educational opportunities.

My daughter went her for her under grad in Biology and then her Masters in education. It is a great school, clean safe, and lots going on!! I would recommend this University to anyone!! Make sure you take in the football games, the wrestling and also the women's ice hockey!!

I've been to almost all of the Big 10 stadiums: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan state and of course the big house and the horseshoe... compared to Beaver stadium and their relentless student section, this was the mot enjoyable in person football experience I've had since my own college days as a player. Throw in tailgating with your Senior Son and it was a great experience!

My son was doing some research up at Penn State and the family decided to take a vacation to see the area. Beautiful place, I couldn't believe how nice and friendly the people were.

Traveled a bit of the campus and was really surprised at how vast the area is and the proximity to downtown amenities. Got to visit the Lion Shrine and took pictures with the ROTC squad that was "guarding" it during Homecoming week. A fun time.

Huge campus.
Pales in comparison to other colleges we visited but it might be due to it being a younger college.
What they do well is exemplary. Their agriculture and creamery are unmatched. The grounds are fairly clean. We noticed some light poles and such that needed to be fixed.
The tour for admissions left a lot to be desired.

We visited for a high school prospective student tour and admission presentation. The campus is beautiful, historic buildings, close proximity between residence halls and class areas. Overall it felt safe, though we were there before move in day so it was pretty bare as far as student population. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and shared good tidbits of info on how to make a large college more of a personal experience. Lunch in the main eatery was ok, despite being there at a peak time for food it didn’t really appear fresh. Chicken was dry, burger was burnt, etc. There was a plethora of options, all in buffet style, always nice to see the students dont eat the same thing everyday, unless of course they choose to. Food aside, this is a college worth considering.

The college is beautiful. The students and faculty were knowledgeable and what a great atmosphere. can't wait to visit when our daughter is officially there

Love visiting this beautiful campus and the downtown area. There is such a happy vibe everywhere you are. Can't wait to go back!

Penn State University is a great campus, along with beautiful gardens. The stadiums are well maintained. The Creamery, around the corner, is a must to visit.

We took the grandchildren------ages 7 and 10 to Eisenhower Auditorium to see the Nutcracker. It was a great weekend filled with memories!

I feel old, I am old, I can't find my way around. Still a place that east coast kids should experience as part of growing up. Has culture for the uncultured, diversity for the unaware, and sports monoculture for those who want it.

What hasn't been said before about PSU? Phenomenal school, awesome athletics, fantastic programs. What else could one ask for in a school?
Now that Sandusky is locked away, I highly recommend everybody's child to one of the best learning institutions in the world!
I know I'll be sending mine eventually. I wonder if they take well behaved dogs... hmmm

This is my alma mater, and an enormous campus. It has changed a bit in the last 50 years or so. It is worth visiting, but be prepared to walk, as parking is scarce. It has a lot more than football to offer.

Did a self-guided college tour with family. Go to visitor center, get a parking pass. Park somewhere on campus rather than near stadium. Walked through housing areas - through the "commons" (places to eat); Business School; Library; Hub (student center) and then downtown. Technically, you will need a 9am to 12 noon plus time for lunch; shop for Penn State stuff downtown and exit by 2pm...

I came here last month to visit my cousin and this place was awesome. Alot to do around the area and alot to see. Really diverse too

My first trip to Penn State and I finally understand all the hype. The campus is old with stunning architecture and centuries old trees. The landscaping is just breathtaking! The Arboretum is a great spot for a sunset stroll and Pegula Ice Arena hosted our group for an evening social. The surrounding town is definitely a college feel but welcoming and lively...would visit the area again

This school is amazing. The State College area is large and there is so much support for the students. The friendly atmosphere and comoderie of PSU is just amazing. My son is a student here and there is so much history and so much to see here. Don't forget to take a picture at the Nittany Lion Shrine!

University Park offers a beautiful campus, walk through amazing landscaped gardens and tree lined pathways. Adjacent to main street for shopping and dining.

Is there anything else to say? LOL- ok as a graduate of PSU Harrisburg I tend to enjoy most things Blue and White. However, specifically the PSU University Park campus has AMAZINGGGG camps for kids in science, forensics, leadership, and engineering. My daughter attended a number of those camps (and in outcomes she is now a full-time, on scholarship engineering student). She was offered a place at the Honors engineering school at PSU and decided she needed a smaller campus experience. However, we wouldn't trade those summer camps for anything!

My favorites to show visitors include: arboretum, Palmer museum, fish tank at HUB (student union), Berkey creamery, Hintz alumni center and grounds including ducks, library (especially Paterno family room that's designed to look like NY public library reading room), the Nittany Lion shrine, "We Are" sculpture, stadium. That should keep you busy for a while!

You can sign up for the campus tour through the admissions office. The tour takes a little over an hour and they provide a lot of information on the school and campus. Thanks to our guides.

I was a student at Penn State in the 80's and now my son will be attending in the fall. It's a beautiful campus and a nice downtown area. This is a large university so it's not for everyone but I loved it and my son is looking forward to starting his college career.

Please do not miss the opportunity to visit the Penn State Sports Museum located right next to Beaver Stadium. Liz at the front desk and Lewis our tour guide were so friendly and helpful and this is so very affordable! PSU and State College keep growing and changing but the charm of the campus is the same of always!

I went here 1967-71. My father went here. Two of my sons and their wives went here. My nephew's son just started here. Finest college campus and surrounding college town as you will ever find.

Many sports event/venues; some free. Famous creamery with much more than just ice cream. Museums: Art, anthropology, entomology, mineral sciences. Fine dining at the Nittany Lion Inn and Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. Fast foods in several locations. Big Barnes and Noble Student Bookstore with Starbucks. Impressive Arboretum and many innovative classroom buildings. And photos at the Nittany Lion Shrine.

Absolutely the best experience. We are so proud two of our children attend PSU. These young people give of themselves fir the children. Over 10 million raised

Recently accompanied a group of high school students on a visit to PSU. Could not have picked a better day. The weather was clear, brisk and the leaves were beginning to turn, which made the campus look even more beautiful. Was impressed by the facilities and the overall helpfulness of both staff and students.

lots of things to see here. huge buildings, nice museums, fresh ice cream at the creamery, and of course the nittanny lion statue!

Had a great tiem touring the campus both during the day and at night. Female students, as well as, male, students seemed to walk during the evening without reservation for their safety...great! Coming from teh metropolitan area, that's a big plus! The blue lights were clearly placed in case of safety problems. The campus is extremyl well kept and inviting. loved he Federal style architecture!

Wow. This is an absolutely gorgeous campus with an amazing mix of architecture, beautiful mature landscaping, and incredible professors. The history here stands on its own. Add scholastic and athletic talent and you're in the top in the nation. You want to be here. Did you know the Nittany Lion statue is the 2nd most photographed item in PA? Second only to the Liberty Bell. Great place to just visit or get an amazing education!

Classic college campus that is the heart of Happy Valley. Every season has its charms, but walking around in the fall, with or without a football game, is a special experience!
TIP: Stop by the creamery for a sugar boost to help you walk all day.

I use to attend here and decided to take my teens up for a visit. It was Arts Fest and as always it never disappoints. Plenty of craftsmen to see, gerat shopping of their wares and PSU gear.
Be sure to check out the Creamery and the Nittany Shrine.

I attended a graduation at the ice arena. Although it seemed to be run smoothly, I was unable to hear/understand the majority of speakers. Mostly due to a poor sound system and maybe the dialect of the speakers.

Safe, well lit, fun campus ideal for families and couples. Love the atmosphere in this town. Great variety in local shops and eateries too!

We were there for a two hour guided tour, and my oh my.... What a place. It was chilly out, and yet, time flew by. We got to see a lot of the school and were guided by two wonderful students who showed us around and shared their experiences. Unique!!!! Dont miss their ice cream shop.. made on campus!!!!

Innovation, simplicity, and design are the best words to describe the visit to PennState's Maker Spaces area. If you are interested in any type of technology it is a fantastic place to go.

The only thing better then Penn State in the Spring is PSU in the fall! Take a tour or take time yourself to enjoy one of the most beautiful campuses in the country!

In the middle of rural Pennsylvania, this seems an unlikely place to find such an institution, but take a look at the rankings. A wonderful place to study!

I thought move-on day was going to be crazy and it would take hours, but it didn't. Was very organized and took only 20 minutes to get all of the kids stuff into the dorm room. Beautiful campus and very nice staff.

It is not just a unversity- it's a whole region of the state. The campus is huge and offers some of interest for everyone. Take a tour - from the Berkeley Creamery, the sports, the plantarium, you truly feel the aroma- WE ARE PENN STATE!

Beautiful campus in the middle of rural Pennsylvania. All of the facilities are top notch and the town of state college is great.

Walking around Penn State campus is as pretty as it gets. The Old Main building is picturesque. Big beautiful trees 🌲 line the “mall”. Visiting the Hub where they have a food court that won’t disappoint.

Great to see how happy your kids are at Happy Valley. Great education in and out of the classroom. Top school for job recruiting per Forbes.

The university has expanded a lot siince I grew up there, but it still is a great place to walk the grounds and take in the quiet intensity of focused learning. Stop by and see Old Main ... classic!

Penn state university has really fulfilled my expectations. I was able to ake some undergraduate studies. No complaints. 5 stars.

If your son or daughter is thinking of going to Penn State you should know this - it's a huge school with 40,000 undergraduates that spreads out in many directions. The school offers many different academic majors and your child will definitely be entertained here by Big Ten sports, hundreds of clubs and many activities. But it's up to him or her to decide if you're going to get the personal attention you need here or just become a number among the throngs, lost in a crowd.

Whether it's a basketball, a concert or a hockey game there is always something going on at Penn State University. And the best ending of any night is a stop at the Creamery

We had a great time just walking around and enjoying the State college area, shopping and looking in the shops in the down town area and visited a local framers market.

We attended the Summer 2018 Commencement here. Wonderful experience! All the pomp and circumstance you could ask for!

We had a business dinner at the stadium, what a beautiful stadium it is. Staff was very friendly.
Very interesting to see the place empty.
The food wasn't the best but the trip was worth while.

We were there for my niece’s graduation. I can’t talk about their academics (although I’m sure it’s one of the best in the world) but I can talk of their campus. It is beautiful. Located in a small town, everything is catered to the university and its students. The school spirit is high and it looked like a safe campus.

A very welcoming community feeling. Even as a parent I have gotten into the Penn State spirit. Going to a football game is an amazing experience. Highly recommend this university.

I'm an alumnus, so no doubt I'm prejudiced about PSU, but I really think that it is one of the most beautiful campuses I've seen--and I've been to a heck of a lot of campuses. Some of the new buildings leave me more than cold because they seem built to impress rather than for use. But fortunately there aren't that many of them,

A big campus. Spacious. Very quiet and green. Amazing place for a stroll or for jugging. Several places to grab breakfast or lunch if you're hungry. Don't forget the visit that Nittany lion.

We visited during move-in week and enjoyed walking the campus and trying a few local restaurants. The campus is very walkable but if you do drive around there are plenty of inexpensive parking lots.
If I were young again I'd want to be a Nittany Lion.

Such a beautiful campus! I love walking around at different times of the year to see it change with the seasons! The university is top notch as well!

We happened to visit during spring break, so not much going on but a great time to drive around and check out the campus. The Creamery was open and there is a parking garage behind the Creamery. It would be much nicer in warmer weather to walk around. The stadium was impressive and there is a sports museum there. I would recommend going to the visitor center on campus.

Loved being able to self tour the campus by car the day before a football game. Looks like a great place to learn!

Well it only takes on visit to Penn State to see they take there sports very seriously. The football stadium is the largest College Football Stadium in the USA and the rest of the sports fields are huge. They have a massive hockey rink, basketball, soccer and baseball stadiums. This is a huge campus with lots of pretty brick buildings. Seems like a really fun school to go to and the town of State College is really cool too...

Spend a summer day at Penn State Main Campus was the best college tour we have done. Everyone is super friendly, we have been on 8 college tours, Penn State's was by far the best!

Awesome campus! Well mannered students, beautiful views. My daughter is looking forward to attending one day.

Gorgeous campus, beautiful, peaceful drive there. Very friendly people everywhere we went. Lots of fun before during and after the football game.

This weekend my family and I attended our first Penn State game in Happy Valley and we were blown away. Beaver stadium is absolutely incredible and the university has event logistics down to a science. Beautiful area, especially in the Fall season with an electric crowd. So much fun watching the game and getting to experience Penn State athletics. It was a veteran's appreciation game and and I have to say they catered well to the military members and their families. Great entertainment and an impressive marching band. Concessions were available and moderately priced. Even in the low temperatures of the night the event was worth staying until the last minute. Put this on your bucket list!

Dropped my daughter off and the campus is large and beautiful. It is like a mini city. Awesome stadium. Within 1 mile of stores (Target, Walmart, TJ Maxx, Panera etc.). Love all the brick buildings.

This is a great university fighting through some unfortunate scandals by a few stupidi, demented people. The architecture is inconsistent (always has been) but there are also examples of classic design along with modern. Penn State has, and will contribute to our society by producing leaders in science, industry, education, law, politics, and sports. A visit should include the library, the graduate and law school buildings, the HUB student union building, the various stadiums, performing arts building, the agronomy and animal science locations and, of course the famous creamery! Downtown State College is loaded with quaint stores.

As an alumnus, as well as having a daughter currently attending Penn State, I can honestly say that it is a wonderful place to attend college, and opens doors to bright futures.
The campus is safe and has many opportunities for sports, arts and cultural activities.

Arts Festival interesting with a wide range of artist wares in all price points. Very nice food venue great crowd of people

If you want a terrific college football experience be sure the Nitly Lions are on your list! Tailgating is a fantastic way to enjoy the spirit and atmosphere of a truly great college town. Fans are loud, friendly and spiriteD. Be sure to tour the campus and surrounding college town to round out the trip. Do not leave without a trip to the on campus creamery for some of the best ice cream outside of Texas!!

Road tripped LA to NY via PSU. 20 yrs since I was last here.
They are gutting the East Halls to put in A/C!!! Students should suffer like we did! ha ha . Nice to visit old haunts and bars.

I was at a conference at the Nittany Inn, quite a lovely place and had some time to look around. Its an enormous place with an agricultural area as well as the usual buildings. It deserves a real tour- there is so much going on.. I had an insider show me around but I think if you are in the area, its worth a detour even if you have nothing on at the University.

I visited for the first time this past week while my son participated in the Penn State weather camp. What a beautiful campus. We were beyond impressed by the campus, how meticulous the grounds are, the camp and how nice everyone we interacted with was. I was also impressed by how evident the Penn State pride is on campus. Almost everyone we walked by or saw was sporting some type of Penn State apparel. A great visit.

The creamery at Penn State University in Sate College, Pennsylvania produces a far superior ice cream to those on your grocer's shelf. I think my favorite is more seasonal, Pumpkin Pie. But "Death by Chocolate" is fantastic.

The campus is sprawling, filled with trees and beautiful. It's fun to drive by the huge stadium and look at the architecture of the various buildings, old and new. Get off College Avenue and drive through the smaller streets in the campus. When you're ready for a snack, you have lots of choices on College Ave.

After several visits visiting my son who attends school here, I have to say it is a beautiful campus and is very well kept. Places are fairly well marked and it is easy to navigate the campus. There are placards with history and points of interest. It would be nice to just stroll around with a camera to take pictures of the buildings, grounds, and of course many squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks!

Campus is huge. Do yourself a favor ask for the map of campus before you arrive!! Don't forget to go by all the sports areas even stop by beaver stadium on off game days as they love to show you their field!! Staff is super friendly and eager to proudly help especially the people who work at sports museum!!

My daughter spent 4 spectacular yrs there.Get involved. She was editor and chief of the yr book. Getting involved made all the difference in her experience

the campus is well kept and clean. i picked up my son from freshman year. the RA was prompt with clearing his room. the mail/key room was quick and easy. other students had too man lion points on their card when we went to get a snack and offered to pay for it with their points bc they expire. love the drive in the mountains and the energy in the air at campus. WE ARE!

I've been here many times and took an official tour when looking for colleges. This is no doubt a great school.

Came here for a celebratory dinner with a large group. I understand that with a large group that the food will take some time, however this establishment exceed that by a long shot. The food was just ok, although I would not recommend the schnitzel. The service by Abby was excellent. Do not know why this place is so popular. Will not come back.

Great college town. Nice local flavor. You can walk around the city. See the lion. See history of the town and campus. Catch a game. Basketball volleyball football soccer rugby baseball. You can't go wrong.

This is our 3rd year of Art Camp/vacation. My son signs up for camp from 9-4 each day, we choose a different local hotel each year, and I spend my days on campus and in town walking, exploring, shopping & relaxing. At the end of Camp, when I pick him up each day, we do a different local activity (community pool, museum, nature preserve, Penns Cave, Shavers Creek, etc) and then try a new restaurant for dinner or frequent one of our favorites.
This campus can't be beat for a working mom who needs time to herself out of the house.

Penn State is the quintessential college campus, located in the heart of Central Pennsylvania it is convenient to no one and well worth the time to travel there. Distinctive architecture, landscaping, high quality sport and sporting events, incredible research facilities and a family friendly atmosphere. Looking for a great place to send your kid to school? Check out PSU.

Such a beautiful university! The tour we went on was great. Our guide, Rachel, was throughout and clearly knew what she was talking about!

a beautiful stadium and the sports museum was very good they even let you see the whole stadium and what it looks like.

This is a classic college campus that looks like a movie set. Every season has its own beauty, but the peopel make it great. On student move in day, you could not find a more polite group taking turns in traffic or lending a hand in the hall. Happy Valley!

Truly one the best Universities in the nation. The campus is very large and beautiful. It is located in the the town of State College.

Visited for a week for recruiting events. Great faculty and student base. Clean campus with a very helpful staff. The student base for which I was recruiting came prepared for discussions.

My son just graduated from PSU and has stated constantly that it has been the best 4 years of his life. Loaded with tons to do along with a phenomenal education receiving a Summa Cum Laude diploma!!

Drove through PSU and was surprised by the size of the campus. Not a lot of upscale dining as the town appears to effectively be there to service the college students.

PSU has a very user friendly campus. Also, a must stop is the Creamery - some awesome ice cream! Great education, great location and the town of State College has a lot of friendly folks there.

We love coming here for an overnight. The kids love seeing where they will attend some day. Summer is quiet which makes a good time for visits. Kids brought scooters and rolled around campus while we walk d. Check out:
The creamery
The corner room
The arboretum
The stadium of course

Having graduated from PSU in 91 it is always great to come back and see what has changed. The campus is growing and is even more beautiful. Keep up the good work. It is just a nice place to stroll and ride your bike. Especially on The Weekend when it is a little quieter.

A great college town sets the backdrop for the popular university. Spread out with a great student union in the center of the campus. Large library with multiple department level libraries across the campus. Best of all they make and sell their own ice cream on campus.

P.S.U was one of the happiest days of my life. It is out in the open near mountains. Wish I would have had time to go on nature walks. However, I spent some days walking 3 hours to classes. The classes in the freshman and second level classes were way too crowded. Glad to have gone to PSU Lehigh Valley in Fogelsville where I started a choir for credit and it was extremely personal. What a financial bargain that is and that is how I would recommend you start or community college till you get used to it. The smaller classes in the upper level were fantastic. i took a course on flowers and we identified them by microscope. I never remember having so much fun learning.

It's always a good time to visit Happy Valley. Top notch school in a serene mountain setting. Any season is great as long as you bundle up in the winter.

The atmosphere is amazing. The campus, the town, the food and drinks, the stadium... You won't be disappointed.

a great campus to walk around..although various parking garages throughout campus..pictures at the lion a must do ..so much to do.so little space to share

THE Pennsylvania State University is among the most beautiful college campuses in the United States. But, unless you are a student or alumni, why visit? Because the campus is beautiful, accessible, and interesting. Here's a few tips:
- Get ice cream on campus!
- Visit the Penn State sports museum and tour the football stadium - even if you're not a fan! I haven't found a better college sports museum.
- Of course, the best time to visit is when school is not in session. Then parking is easy and free.
- Walk around the campus and take in the fantastic mountain views. How does anyone get anything done here?

If you visit just one thing at Penn State, make it the Nittany Lion! The Nittany Lion Inn is beautiful also, but currently being utilized to house students.

What a beautiful campus! It is kept so clean and orderly. The buildings on campus are architecturally interesting and diverse, thus providing many photo opportunities.
The grounds are immaculate. Kudos to the grounds maintenance staff.
It's so beautiful on campus, day and night. Definitely a place to visit and walk around if you're in State College.

Always a wonderful explore to see what is changed and new, does my heart proud to be an Alum and see the care, art, architecture of this world-wide respected college

Finally ventured out to this great university to visit all the iconic sites and purchase PS Wrestling gear.
It was refreshing to watch all the students walking to classes and mulling around town.
Walked from store to store, toured the area, sightseeing from landmark to landmark, stadium, Lion statute, the Creamery, the Hub, etc.
Really wonderful place!
We are!

I visited for the first time in May 2017 for the graduation. The campus was beautiful and there was so much to do. One full day wasn't enough to explore. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The is a wide range in architecture from old to new on the campus. If you do go visit, be sure to visit the Nittany Lion shrine!

What a place. 5hrs by train to nearby town or take the bus, either way see some great nature along the way. Town itself is excellent. Great restaurants and bars. College town but not in your face so quiet when you want loud when you want. Campus is great and the football stadium (110,000 people), well just something to experience. Every age group, whole families spanning generations with everybody happy. Really liked the fact that from the house we could walk everywhere we wanted except for golf in the hills. Fabulous courses around but a little gem hidden away....see if you can find it.

We started campus visits to several universities and by far we considered PSU the most impressive admission info session and student-guided tour - even better than an Ivy League university.
The admission officer use very creative Prezi presentation, which included useful info, enrolment statistics, video of current students sharing their experiences, leading the the student-guided tours.
The student guides were well trained, well prepared, conducted the entire hour-long tour with passion and patience, and converted a good variety of buildings and interesting facts about PSU. The tour wrapped up with a free lunch at a student cafeteria, a nice gesture and treat for future students and their parents.
It gets better! Two days later I visited the department of landscape architecture with my daughter, and we were treated to a 2-hour long private orientation tour and talk, by a program manager. We started with a walk of the famous Stuckeman Family Building, which is the home of both architecture and landscape architecture programs, and a LEED certified building. We were truly impressed by the facilities and the technology that the students could use.
Our guide continued to provide us with lively, interesting and valuable information which helped my daughter to not only have a good understanding of the program, but guided her the direction to continue her exploration leading to the actual admission process.
My daughter, who was previously concerned with the huge enrolment at PSU, now feels much more comfortable with the support and community spirit of the school.
We look forward to the day returning to PSU as an enrolled student and parent!

Did PSU tour - well organized. Saw educators presentations on varied majors: Engineering and Communications. Very impressive. Eric the Assoc Dean of Eng is hilarious!

We have a daughter attending her 3rd year at PSU and all of us LOVE this school for a number of reasons. The environment is like no other and we visited several schools before selecting PSU. There's a PSU pride that no school can match. They really do bleed blue & white and they really are Penn State! Now don't get me wrong, PSU is still in America so don't get it confused, there are still issues that America is dealing with that are being discussed & being addressed at PSU, but when you look at large universities, PSU stands out well above the others. The education is TOP NOTCH and even their finals are more difficult than ivy league schools and they use a +/- grading system which makes getting an "A" a bit more difficult (you have to score a 95 or higher to get an "A"), but the Alumni Association is the BEST IN THE WORLD and you're only limited on your success by your imagination. If you're an intelligent, outgoing, socially adjusted person, this school might be a good fit for you.

We toured Penn State as a perspective freshman. The campus is large and spread out but very nice. The students were friendly and the information sessions were very helpful.

Engineering, and Business degrees are the no 1 recruited majors in the country. Numerous other majors are great as well. My frustration though, is I think PSU feels they are doing you a favor to let you attend.

I am a proud alumni of PENN STATE.
Happy Valley is a fantastic campus and the whole region is centered around the university.

I was a student here for four years and two bachelors degrees. I love the Campus and all of its facilities. It is very well maintained both inside and out. The faculty, staff, and students are amazing. I started here after four years in the Military and as the title says, it was one of the best experiences of my life.
The meal was good; friendships great. I have so many friend and family members that have walked the grounds of PSU as students. It just feels really nice to be here.
