Excellent selection and quality of locally grown and made items.

By John S |

Would give the market 5 stars, but their prices tend to be higher than other local retailers on many of their produce and hand made items. Overall, the quality and selection is very good.

So much food

By Russ |

We both had a donut from Ladds. It was great. I wish we did not eat breakfast not long before because all of the food looked so good. I enjoyed watching the people also. I did see a table outside that was really nice. We were on vacation, so it would have been hard to transport.

Lots of Food

By ThoughtsofRS |

Lots of food at the various eateries here and a good meat market as well.
There isn't a lot of other shops in the market (there are a few).
I ate at the Farmers' Cookhouse for a great chicken liver dinner with four huge potato wedges (very good) and cole slaw (nothing special).
If there were a few more interesting stands (in number not quality),I'd give this a five star rating!

Great Shoo Fly Pie

By BernaR3 |

It's very much worth a trip to here to get a shoo fly pie. The chocolate chip cookies were so so.

There are a lot of choices for meat, etc. Not much else though I did get an interesting American Indian copper picture for $5.00!

Fresh Items Always

By Julia M |

My family loves this place! In fact, we just purchased a hindquarter of beef about a month or so ago. Everything was wrapped and labeled to our specifications. Their lemon pickles are out of this world!!! I recommend the Pennsylvania Dutch Market to all my family & friends.

This place is very cool.

By Larry T |

Went here with my wife and really enjoyed it. The prices are fair and the food is delicious. We will be back.

Everything under one roof

By tams528 |

Everything here is so fresh. I love coming for seasoning and herbs, but there are candies, sweets of all kinds, fresh bread, sandwiches and pretzels. There are deli, fresh cheese and produce areas. There is also a furniture and home-goods area for those who are interested. This is an authentic Amish market.

Ehhh

By Mfclingan |

Not a farmers market!!!! I've lived in Lancaster and been to REAL farmers markets (Amish heavy ones too) and this is NOT it!!! That said...it's a place to go and grab a bite of food for dinner from one of the many food venders.

Sky-high prices, not enough healthy food

By Mark |

Prices are excessively high for just about everything. There are lots of fattening baked goods and candies. Spices, mixes, honeys, and jams and jellies are offered as is molassas. There are some good Amish or Mennonite cookbooks and furniture pieces.
Some produce items are good but some seem imported from a supermarket or grocery store. Needs to offer plain Greek yogurt in the yogurt section. It's a fascinating place because of its endless variety and would get 5 stars for that if the pricing weren't so far off from standard or normal and if the cooked meats in the deli-type eating area tasted better generally with more recipes used.

Pleasant experience

By Margaret M |

Enjoy leisurely shopping. Lots of options. My daughter always wants honey sticks and chocolate-covered marshmallows.

Busy and interesting

By Dan L |

While staying in Hagerstown for a couple days, my companion and I stopped at the Pennsylvania Dutch Market. We found it busy, with an interesting assortment of foods. They folks working there were friendly. Unfortunately, there was no place to sit and enjoy lunch so we only purchased snacks but hopefully, next time will be post-COVID, and they may have seating available. If visiting Hagerstown, it worth a walk about.

A cornucopia of goodness!!!!!

By dante w |

There are ,so, so many outstanding hand made items, food, and candy. The building is massive and is a regular stop on weekends for me.

A Lot Of Fun

By travelkitty50 |

We stopped in here because of being in the area and that it was recommended. It is a bit tricky to find if you're coming in from Hwy. 81 since the entrance with the signage is on the side of the building facing the parking lot. Once found, it's really fun to see and sample things, and there are many fruit, veg, snack, drink, and sweets stores from which to choose. There is also a full restaurant with tables from which we got chicken barbecue sandwiches. I got small potatoes as my side and hubby got his usual mashed and some glazed carrots. He ate it all and I ate everything but the plate. Afterward we walked around to look a bit more leisurely and found a half price sale on gourmet chocolates. Just my speed!

A touch of Lancaster

By Tom B |

Great little Dutch market in Hagerstown. A little bit of everything from PA Dutch country. Great bakery (amazing donuts and breads) as well as meats and cheeses. Stopped and bought lots of goodies for our dinner that evening! Great place and worth a stop.

Great fun

By Billie S |

Was curious so decided to go. Fresh fruit, fresh bakery items, candy, and multiple places to have lunch. My recommendation is the BBQ stand. Try the barbeque potatoes. Rack of ribs was so tender. It is a poplar local spot for locals too.

Market

By MikeHessong |

One of the best markets around for fresh deli products to butcher shop quality meats to home furnishings and fresh baked goods

neat selection - great selection

By Jeremiah j |

lots of interesting things that all seem to be of the highest quality. Great produce and bulk foods selection! Wasn't overly crowded for a Friday.

Love love love

By ajbaker924 |

I love the Dutch market!!! Favorites are the fresh pretzels - chicken bacon ranch pretzel log is out of this world! Fresh donuts also a must try- the best!!!! I have tried many things and it is all great!!!!

Lots of Choices

By Dean_Amy-2004 |

Recently visited and found an abundance of food choices. There is a butcher meats section, cheese, bakery, German market, and numerous ready-to-eat food stands.
The food ranges from cold cuts, to Dutch staples like Slippery Pot Pie (have to be/know PA Dutch to know what that is), to bar b q.
The prices were reasonable and the quantity was generous, making this a great value. There was a small area you could choose to eat there or get items to go.
There was also a small bulk foods section with some hard to find items, like spelt flour and dried corn.
Would definitely recommend a stop here if you are looking for meal options or ready to eat food. Give yourself a night off and get dinner to go!

Homemade without the hassel!

By Roxanna O |

I LOVE this place. This market has the "olde time" feel of a few generations ago and it is FAMILY FRIENDLY. Anytime I want to find a special gift, I can usually find something here. When ever I am in the area, I just HAVE to stop in, whether I have a few minutes or several hours to spare! There's just so much to see, enjoy and taste, and there are tables where you can sit and eat items that you have purchased and, if you are a people watcher as am I, watch the happy faces walking by as they choose and select their items for purchase.

Several wonderful food store fronts are happily preparing their wares, filling the air with enticing aromas. You can select from garden fresh fruits and vegetables; homemade items (jams n jellies, canned goods, meals, soups, & sweets) that are delicious and help to keep the buyer from having to be in the kitchen all day to create; Hand bagged/container items for baking and nibbling and such; There is a deli where you can select meats and cheeses to have sliced to your preference, or they will even make you a sandwich or a platter! There is hand crafted furniture, toys, as well as home decorations (doilies, towels, aprons, signs, tin items, etc.).

I'm thrilled to have a place nearby that prepares food/meals with local farm and garden fresh items at a fair price.

No Value

By Jayjay099 |

Having visited the Amish in Sugarcreek Ohio and also in Pennsylvania, I was so looking forward to our Dutch Market stopšŸ˜„ Had lunch in one of the eatery’s and it was average at bestšŸ˜• Not much in hardware itemsšŸ˜• Their whole focus is around meat, deli and bakery. The bakery quality is equal to the large Amish communities we have been toošŸ˜„YET, items are wayyyyyyyy over priced! Example, $14 for an angel food cakešŸ˜‚ Some of their donuts are awesome, but $1.25 for each donut is a hard no! The specialty donuts are worth it😃 A regular cake donut with frosting is a NO, get those anywhere. IF you have no problem spending your money for little value then stop. It was a one time thing for us😮

Great food and selection!

By LoveTravel020 |

I live close to this market and shop there all of the time. There are various food vendors and a vendor who sells furniture and gift items as well. The baked goods vendor offers a large variety of delicious cakes, pies, cookies and other dessert items, and there is a vendor who offers candy, pickles, relishes, salsa, jams, honey, nuts and various other items. Another vendor offers fresh vegetables and fruit, and yet another fresh meats. The food vendors who offer prepared foods are all terrific to include ribs, rotisserie turkey, chicken and waffles, stuffed peppers, homemade soups - the list goes on! This is a great and different place to shop and eat! If you are in the area, don't miss a trip to this place!

Fresh Is Best!

By Sailorsgirl |

On our trip to the Northeast, we decided to include a stop at the Pennsylvania Dutch Market in Hagerstown, Maryland. It's easy to find and there is plenty of parking. We arrived shortly after it opened at 9 a.m. and there were lots of Seniors enjoying breakfast in the little food court. There's lots to choose from, like Lapp's Donuts which are heavenly. We got some coffee and got blueberry and apple fritters. So many choices, so little time. Best fritters EVER! They were still warm, full of fresh fruit, crunchy and sweet on the outside and soft on the inside. The coffee was great too.

There is an Old Time Candy area as well as as sparkling cases full of handmade chocolates. Around the corner is the fresh pasta in bags, flavors I never heard of and would love to try. A large portion of this area is taken up by the bakery where you can watch the ladies turn out beautiful fruit breads, donuts, rolls, etc. Everything looked fresh and delicious.

Toward the back of the Market are the meat counters and ready to eat items, BBQ ribs, chickens and lots of tempting side dishes. There is a beautiful selection of cheeses and dairy products.

At this Market you can find handmade quilts and furniture. A big section of craft items, fresh product and flowers. Outside we found fall mums and comfortable outdoor furniture.

If you are in the area, I highly recommend the Pennsylvania Dutch Market.

Nice selection!

By Kathy B |

This was a fun market with little duplication between the stands. There was a bakery, several stands with prepared food, a meat shop, a great deli, a bulk food store, and furniture - all under one room. It was like a small slice of Lancaster PA in the middle of Hagerstown.

Great Amish made products.

By goldie5978 |

Freshly made food products, candies, bread, cakes, salads , fried chicken. Plus various items for the home . You might to eat before you go there, going there hungry was my mistake.

Amish market

By Cheryl B |

We have been going to the market weekly since it opened. Excellent deli and baked goods and good places to eat. Clean and food is amazing. Open Thur, Fri and Sat

Wow!

By Charlie S |

What an amazing place! Fresh fruits & vegetables; Amish hand-crafted furniture; fresh meats; store-made, mouth-watering donuts, homemade breads, cakes, pies, pickles, soft pretzels, fudge, & candy. And that's just the beginning. The array of prepared food is incredible. Fried chicken, BBQ, subs & sandwiches, and so much more. It's only open on Thursdays, Friday's, & Saturdays. Well worth the trip!

Great shopping!

By mqyoung |

I was impressed with the quality & quantity of items available in the market, the fresh vegetables, prepared meats, pickles & baked goods were exceptional. My granddaughter stocked up on items to share with her school friends.

Great Food! a fried checken dinner

By donna n |

Each vendor is independent so you pay as you go. Amish soft pretzels better than Aunt Annie's and half the price! We bought some cheeses- they had tons of free samples. We bought a fried chicken dinner with homemade au gratin potatoes and a corn casserole that was very good. We also bought Haug wings which were new to us. It is a BBQ ham hock that is split so it has one bone and looks like a chicken wing. Tasted like BBQ ham. But that chicken was the best! I also picked up a jar of pepper jelly. There are Amish workers they also sell some Amish furniture.

Amazing selection!

By loriar |

Something for everyone at this market place. Unique gifts, many food vendors and friendly people. As soon as you walk in, you are hungry. We had pizza from The Pizza Corner and it was absolutely fantastic.

Be careful

By Frances P |

While there are a lot of good things to buy and eat there, one vendor you might be careful with. I have purchased on several different times meats from a vendor in this market and was unhappy with the freshness of the meat when I got it home and ubwrapped it. Then it accrued it me that unlike a supermarket there is no experation dates on thus stuff so unless you can smell the meat looks don't always tell the whole story. I had even asked how fresh the meat was and that didn't help with what I received. After 2 different bad purchases I stopped buying any raw meat products. There are however lots of vendors with grateful foids, candues, bakery items.

Regular customer!

By Jeannie R |

This place just keeps on getting better and better!
So many yummy things to eat!
Beautiful produce, great bakery and cases full of prepared foods for for a queen!

Love the variety!

By Kris W |

I really enjoy shopping at this Market. The food is always fresh. They have awesome meat, bakery and deli items. The best day to go is on a Thursday morning. It is not crowded and their are no lines. Saturday gets pretty busy. Although it is not advertised, the produce section is also open on Wednesday. You will need to call to check the hours for product. Make sure you visit the BBQ section in the back. They have awesome Roast Turkey sandwiches.

I've seen better, prices are high

By jfwilder |

Overall, some pretty good quality goods, but have had a couple clunkers from the bakery...including dry and moldy baked goods. The cheese selection is great and places to eat are pretty good overall, but a little on the high side for pricing. The furniture is priced sky high, even for "amish" furniture, and most are not made of very hard wood (often just pine or maple which scratch easily). The veggies are decent, but again more than any organic stores I've seen everywhere else.

They're only open Thur-Sat...closing at 3pm on Saturday, but start shutting down about an hour earlier. If you're there for lunch, good luck getting a seat....but the food's good.

The bakery used to do a lot more buy one get one or 1/2 price after noon on Saturday, but that's pretty much gone by the wayside. The Pennsylvania Dutch Market in Germantown (not related) does a better job of that for the baked goods. After noon on Saturday there, you can really get some good deals. Not here.

Great Place for Everyone

By Jessi S |

We enjoy going here for lunch or to shop for some fresh produce. I am often tempted by the sweets I must admit, the delicious hand dipped chocolate covered strawberries are irresistible. My young daughters love watching them roll out and twist the dough for pretzels, from behind the viewing glass. If you go into the back you can get a delicious meal with many sides, which you probably wont be able to eat all of. Choices for everyone, and the people are so hard working and friendly. Its like stepping back in time to a day on the market. Love this one!

Great selection, fair prices

By poprox21 |

Where else can you pick up fresh fruit, an end table, and home-made fudge?
Lots of fresh foods for shoppers to choose from and a variety of fresh made snacks to nibble while you shop.
A section in the back displays hand crafted furniture items, and there are more chairs and what nots out front.

Great food

By OBXPearl |

We had beef brisket and rotisserie turkey and both were excellent with ample portions. The brisket was so good that we bought a pound to take home. The prices on the baked goods and produce are a little high but many other food choices are quite reasonable. It was crowded but with food this good it's probably busy most of the time
Overall a very good experience.

Great selection!

By Renee A |

Love this market! Plenty of fresh, beautiful produce to choose from. Awesome candy section. Lots of cheeses, meats and bakery items, too!!

Lots to see

By BBVacation2015 |

First visit. Very busy and hard to get thru all the different areas. Better to go when not so crowded. Made some purchases at the chocolate store and got some cinnamon buns where were fabulous. Had already had lunch but would like to try the food next time go back.

A Hidden Gem

By msuzdak |

A not to miss place on your trip to or thru Hagerstown. Although it is only open Thursday - Saturday it is a definite must stop. The breadth of fresh food and furniture / accessories is wide. Fresh barbecue is available in the parking lot most weekends but you have a very wide assortment of breakfast, lunch and dinner eateries inside. Highly recommended!

The variety is fantastic!

By Bill H |

It is worth a trip to Hagerstown just to visit the Dutch Market! There are butcher shops, bakeries, furniture shops, delis and more.

Great! (P.S. no central cashier; pay vendors directly for items bought at their stand).

By sejirishgirl2k |

We’ve been visiting the Pennsylvania Dutch Market (aka ā€œAmishā€ Market) on a regular basis for at least 6 years. The Market has a large dining area, kept spotlessly clean by a full-time attendant.
Food stands serve everything from soup and sandwiches to full meals, and include items such as: fried chicken, kielbasa/sausage, stuffed peppers, mac&cheese, stuffed chicken breasts, ribs, fresh hot sliced meats, barbecue of various sorts, hot and cold sandwiches, soups, wraps, pizza and much more. There’s also a full salad bar in the fresh produce section.
The deli sells deviled&pickled eggs and beets; various potato/macaroni/vegetable & fruit salads; egg custards & desserts, as well as pre-cooked entrees: cheese stuffed shells, meatloaf, crab cakes, etc., great for microwaving at home. Beside the deli is the cheese & dairy shop: bulk, sliced and spreadable cheee, yoghurts & other dairy.
There’s a bakery (items prepared and baked on site) offering pecan-topped sticky buns, breads of all kinds, cakes&pies&rolls, cookies&filled pastry and more.
The candy store: In addition to all sorts of bulk candy and specialty sweets, the candy store sells snack foods, spices&seasonings, dry beans, pastas, jams&jellies, cake decorating sugars, & hundreds more items.
I can’t forget the huge fresh meat market, or the icecream&soft pretzel stand, or the furniture/home-goods store. And the SBAS nursery, open from late spring to mid-summer, offers lovely annuals&perennials in packs and planters.
Owners, vendors, and staff are all very friendly and pleasant. It’s a fun & happy place to go.

A fine collection of Amish & Mennonite Merchants

By Deborah T |

This is a great place to go. They have a BBQ stand, a quality butcher shop, fresh vegetables, a bakery, pizza shop, deli and furniture shop. If you are looking for fresh and quality products The Pennsylvania Dutch Market should definitely be on your list of places to go. From Pretzels to fresh cut steaks and indoor or outdoor furniture you will find it here!

the Amish do great things

This is the best market within 500 miles of us. They have more unusual foods, confections and so much more. Need something home made, come here

Selection

By DeavBBQ |

Dutch Market is a neat place. Been there many times. Individual shops under one roof. Breakfast or lunch selections offer a lot of variety for fine in or carry out. Great bakery, produce and cheeses.

Great cinnamon rolls

By Bruce M |

The fresh made cinnamon rolls are amazing. Made fresh through out the day. Also they have fresh meats and vegetables and tons of candy.

Not bad, not great

By wm H |

very busy, loud, and crowded. The turkey plater is just deli turkey with some warm (not hot) mashed potatoes. The rotisserie chicken was a bit better. We didn't get the brisket, but it looked good.

One shop place to shop

By 192vanitad |

There are so many food items from fried chicken to candy apples. If you are looking for a place that has fried foods, deli items, sweets, and a bakery; this is the place that you want.

Great Food Nice place to Visit

By Abigail143 |

This is a little off the interstate. But we wanted to check it out. We're glad we did. There products are a little more expensive than in Lancaster Pa. But the whoopie pies are delicious and reasonable priced!
The best was the food oh my! The stuff chicken with gravy and the ribs Oh, My!!! Truly worth it!!!! I highly recommend this Market!!!!

Great food at fair prices.

By mrsagf |

This market was a great find. I am willing to drive a two-hour round trip to get there occasionally and only wish it were nearer. Open Thurs, Fri, Sat (check hours). Free parking lot.

Terrific bakery (try the old-fashioned sand tarts from Ridgeview's Bake Shop, Lancaster County, PA), large deli (great salads, rice custard), cheese counter, candy store, butcher, hot cooked meats, fresh fruit and vegetables, meals to go or to enjoy in casual seating, and more. Some gifts and furniture. Hard working vendors. A cultural throwback and a joy.

There is a sister store in Germantown, MD, just off I-270.

Decent Food Stop

By Al O |

We stopped at the Dutch Market for the first time while in the area. There is a wide variety of food, much of which seems a little over-priced, even though the quality seemed good. That being said, we bought some really good cheese much of which is available for tasting in the cases. The prepared food booths looked inviting, but we opted for the bakery for a couple of delicious sweets. I would definitely stop back next time in the area.

Farmers Cookhouse

By ThoughtsofRS |

Ate at the cookhouse.Stuffed Cabbage is top notch there.
Also bought some pickles at another stand and saw birdhouses crafted and painted for Christmas gifts.
Not as many crafts as you would think and more things for dinner than bulk take home items, but nice to stop by.
Recommend.

Amish products close to home

By Ruth C |

The Pa Dutch Market in Hagerstown is a wonderful place. Great fresh produce, meat and dairy products. Parking is ample in fact lots of space. Variety of products they offered there is nice. Good selection of candy, bakery items are great, and pretzels are awesome. The furniture store is really set up to be totally customer friendly. The food for breakfast was wonderful. I Would recommend the PA Dutch Market as a great place to go.

Authentic Dutch Food

By 1HUSKER |

Although they are open only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays it is worth making a shopping trip there. The deli and fresh bakery items are delicious with a large variety to select from. Love eating lunch there as the food is always wonderful.

A Retreat to A Treat

By Q1530NOlindab |

Get ready to go a on a true culinary experience ! Your taste buds will get goosbumps with the wonderful display of homemade fudge to candied apples as you enter thru their doors, I grabbed a shopping cart because the smells alone informed me that this was going to be a great food shopping experience, They had every type of salad known to man all in a country styled buffet. They gave you samples to help make your decisions. Next in line the dairy counter with wonderful cheeses and fresh milk, Tables were available in the back of the store if you wanted to dine in, Soups, sandwiches, cooked ribs, mac and cheese, chicken and dressing were just a few examples on the menu of food items you could take out or sit and enjoy in the dinning room. A butcher was in the back with displays of fresh meat and poultry, I failed to mention a fruit and vegatable stand from local farmers also ! The very end of my excursion was a table of rolls, pies , cakes, danish all being made fresh right in front of your eyes. The customer service was outstanding "service with a smile", This will be my treat for a retreat a special place with some very special people making some very special food!!!

Great place to visit and shop!

By Gayle1946 |

My daughter and I had a good time looking over all the stuff for sale, and enjoyed a nice lunch. It was a good vacation stop! If I lived here, I'd also shop for groceries!

Pizza, donuts, breads, cheese, BBQ, deli, butcher shop, breakfast, lunch and dinner!

By bassaidai88 |

Whether you want an artisan bread, cakes, pies, donuts, specialty cheese, deli sandwich, fresh produce, candy apple, fudge, ice cream, butcher meats, BBQ or pizza, this place is amazing! Open Thursday-Saturday only, the Dutch Market has it all. Watch for the sunset specials were you can score a $1.99 pretzel log (about 1/2 price) or dinner special. Lots of cheese samples too. And OMG the donuts! They blow Dunkin Donuts out of the water! This place is busy busy busy because the great value and high quality. They serve a full breakfast too. And they also have furniture and crafts as well! I hope that was helpful.

We love stopping here.

By thepoint1942 |

The many food venders within this Market gives everyone an opportunity to select their favorite foods either to eat their or take home to prepare. Great meat section, deli, bakery, and candy shop. Many other interesting items for sale too. Their pig roasts are great too.

Alternative to chain markets

By Jim H |

Varied selection of vendors offering homemade products. Bakery, deli, restaurants. Especially like when they have OX roasts. Large portions and always tasty

Dieters Nightmare

By Sharonb |

cheeses, smoked meats and baked goods make up the majority of this market
It is awesome. There are a lot of spices and hard to get food items, so if you are a foodie you will like it here. The smell of cinnamon buns baking make it impossible not to get some baked good to eat. The craft items are pricey but there is some nice Amish furniture pieces. It is a fun place to spend an afternoon- but come hungry and put your diet on hold!

Interesting place but way overpriced.

By mpdbill |

This market is a very unique place with many different vendors set up inside. If you are a foodie, you definately have to go here. They have complete meals, pizza, bbq, fresh donuts and pastries, and a full meat market. You can also sample many different cheeses and spreads. They also have handmade gifts and many other things. There are 2 bad points though. Everything is expensive and the place is always crowded.

Very cool

By Samantha B |

I love this place, every thing they have is well made and they have a great selection. I love the baked goods section and the candy section is way cool i was able to find stuff i have not seen in years.

Amazing deals and perfect food !

Farm food in a store!

By TgurlRandi |

This is a great place to get great pies or breads, they bake them right there. Lots of fresh canned goods, got a jar of sweet Chow Chow last week, first that I have had since leaving home in the 70's. There's great food in the back, nothing fancy just good farm type food.

Myriad secections

By barbaracW9756XY |

Don't go hungry. You will spend your inheritance. There is such a wide variety of fresh baked, cooked, fried, raw if appropriate, that your head will spin. You can also get breakfast or lunch at several areas. Huge selection of ready made foods, cheeses and fresh meats, in addition to gifts and furniture. The prices are a bit high, but the quality is worth it. While you are there, you will run into friends and spend time catching up on one another's lives.

PA Dutch Market

By mamabear409 |

Great place for breakfast! Home cooked meals. Plenty of seating. Friendly place. Delicious home made donuts!

Amazing

By meanita55 |

A great selection of everything.
The produce is a little pricy but worth every penny. The Cheese, the home made cakes, pies, breads are delicious!!! I have never had coconut bread before, not too sweet, taste wonderful toasted. They make a Fruit pizza with a sugar cookie crust. YUM!
The deli has great meat also. I think they serve the BEST breakfast and hot food in the area. Such wonderful friendly people.Definitely make a trip there.

What a Place!

By William S |

We always thought that this market sold mostly furniture. Wrong. The answer is mostly food, mostly fresh, and mostly variety. The furniture vendors are few, but high quality. I wish we were in need of some furniture having seen the quality here. But the majority of customers on this Saturday were looking for food. Meats, sweets, veggies, pretzels, etc. It was amazing to see the number of boxes of doughnuts leaving this market! I can't wait to see the variety of fresh farm products in the harvesting months of July August, September. I can't wait.

My favorite place to go

By luvgoddess1280 |

The Pennsylvania Dutch Market is a paragon. They offer a plethora of freshness to tantalize anyone’s taste buds. They are only open 3 days a week but they are worth a trip alone. They offer market items, fresh meals to eat now or take home. They offer something for someone on any budget.

Organic home made goodness

By Bethany Ingold |

I love the authenticity that is offered at this market. It is a great place to find those natural home made goodies that are so hard to find in supermarkets. They are more expensive but for those things you need with out additives or chemicals it is a great place to go. There are also many interesting things. Go take a look around!

Lucky to have a place like this !

By 943timothym |

I go to this market often to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food is really good , lots to choose from . Yes it is slightly pricey, but not that bad . One large fried chicken leg is $1.50 , that's not so bad . See! There are three major hot food servers there, one of those also sells cold subs or sandwiches. Two of those three sell some great fresh hot meat sandwiches. Hot ham , hot beef , brisket, hot turkey, all slow cooked fresh. There are ribs , there's chicken wings five or six kinds, chicken bits . A lot of this is sold by the pound as far as price goes. I buy sometimes two chicken wings or three rib bones . You don't have to buy what you don't want . The workers there are very, very nice . Now then there is all the other stuff you can get , there is a deli with all kinds of cold salad item, ham salad ,potatoe salad , etc.. more stuff than you can shake a stick at. There is a bakery, and a candy area. There is a meat counter to buy fresh meats to go . It is all fresh and good quality. There is a vegetable produce area. This place has it all I'm telling ya . Lots of tables to sit and eat , it's clean , nice bathrooms, and handicapped ready. The only bad thing is their only open Thursday,Friday, and Saturday. Not bad . I'm giving this place two thumbs up !

Eclectic Fun

By clay b |

A little bit of lots of food items and some crafts too are what you'll find here. Multiple, independent vendors rent space under one roof and offer a plethora of unusual goodies.

The fun is in the variety of fare. Though not competitively priced with grocery stores, you'll find the multiple vendors offering selections that are in many ways unique.

There are types of cheeses and meats for example that you cannot expect to find in a grocery store. What's more, there are places to sit and eat prepared foods and relax before venturing off to the next area. It's eclectic!

The bakery is a favorite stop within the market, offering freshly baked and sometimes marked-down items that are sure to send your blood-sugar levels to the roof.

Worth the trip

By Jenny B |

Freshly made salads, desserts, baked goods, local cheese, sandwiches, freshly prepared meats, fried chicken and to die for ribs and vegetables... it's all at the Pennsylvania Dutch Market.
Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Everything Amish To Eat/purchase

By Katladt |

This is a great market featuring Amish baked goods (none better), salads, veggies both cooked and fresh, a meat market, fresh soups with places to eat inside or get it to go. They also have reproduction furniture and cookbooks. There is a candy section featuring old-time candies as well as anything new you might like. They have a section devoted to all kinds of flours and ground grains as well as spices of every kind...even the hard to find! A place to spend some time shopping and snacking as you go or buy your complete meals to go.

Lots of good food

By Carol942 |

There were only a few vendors selling arts and crafts items, ranging from furniture to bird houses, but there is a wonderful variety of food, both packaged to go and to eat there. For less than $10, I had an excellent stuffed green pepper, potatoes, and a drink at The Farmer's Cookhouse. Go early because it does get crowded around noon.

Chicken and Waffles so disappointing!

By Karen H |

Love to shop for fresh meats at the Dutch Market and had a great Chicken and Waffles months ago! Reminded me of home, but today's lunch.....horrible! Hardly any waffle, lots of chicken, but the gravy was so salty! Nothing like a couple months ago. So disappointed!

Great food

By Teresa M |

This place is well run and the food is delicious. Something for everyone.Nice handmade furniture.A great market.

First timers

By camden19 |

The place was a fat girl's paradise. All the cakes, pies and food you can think of. We had lunch which was really good and took a few goodies home with us. I just think that it's a little pricey, more expensive than I thought it would be.

Great bakery!

By Ophelia B |

I love going to this market. I love their bakery - and like that they have gluten free options. The deli section is also great - I go there to get the cream cheese-salsa dip and other cheeses. Yummy!

Fun place to shop

By Robert J |

We love Amish themed shops so stopped in while vacationing in the area just to browse. Wide variety of things under one roof from furniture to fresh foods and yummy baked goods. Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful.

Doughnuts

By Sidewindet |

They r the best doughnuts lots of special flavors and big size and the price is great for what u get I will be back

Must See!

By Lynda W |

What an absolute FANTASTIC place to visit! It was amazing to experience this marketplace! Fresh and homemade cookies, pies, pastries, and any type of food you can imagine. The staff was very warm and friendly as well. I will always have fond memories of my visit here and hope to return soon! A definite place to experience!

nice place

By Daniel O |

Food is wonderful and the market part has home made food. Run by local church people who work it. I will go back again and but their food to take haome

What a Great Place!

By UnoMasFla |

Wow! This place is amazing! It has everything, fresh vegetables, meats, bakery (apple cinnamon bread, yum!), prepared foods. The lemon pickles are amazing! If I lived near here I would visit all the time. We also had the bologna rolls with garlic herb cheese, so good! So much to chose from and everything we tried was delicious.

A different culture

By Retiredrn365 |

There are tons of foods to check out and or,buy. They are fresh made and tasty, but not cheap, no bargains here.
I like the bulk foods isle, many things you don't find I your usual grocery store.
There are also crafts and Amish made furniture.
If you are not familiar with the Amish it's interesting to meet the suppliers and interact with them.

Very disappointed...

By Gee D |

I'm not sure why everyone gets excited about this place. If you are looking for an AUTHENTIC Pennsylvania Dutch experience - this isn't it. It is sooooo commercialized and most of the workers are NOT Pennsylvania Dutch - they are dressed in COSTUMES to look like they are (I confirmed this with one of the employees). One ice cream stand was selling commercial Hershey's brand ice cream and honestly, you can just tell by looking at the food that most of it is garbage. IMO, total scam and not worth your time unless you just want to eat a lot of high fat, garbage food served by costumed staff pretending to be something they're not.

Food

By Brian K |

Well start off food food food been there about 8 times loved everything I had there. this week tryed kobosa, bbq carrots.got donuts, pizza pretzel.i was going to post pictures but had to eat it.

Bring Money and Your Appetite

By jenniferbT7848CG |

My family enjoys Pennsylvania Dutch food. And this place will not disappoint. It is a farmer's market and eatery. There are so many little cafes to choose from such as home cooked favorites to barbeque. There is a lot of seating. However, during busy times (we went on a Saturday) there aren't enough seats. It smells amazing there. The doughnuts are the best I ever had. The pretzels are delicious. There is a bakery stand where you can buy pies, cookies, and even cheesecake.

If you enjoy homemade food then you will enjoy this place.

Had to buy a small cup of ice water today

By Darcy K |

I have been coming here for years, always go to the barbecue place in the back of the market. Today I ordered the chicken sandwich $ 10.99. and a cup of ice water, same as always. They ring me up at $ 13.79, I asked why is wasn't $ 10.99, she said it was the drink, I said it is water. She stated they now charge for water because they have to pay for the cup. It is a small clear plastic cup and cost me $ 2.78. I usually don't write bad reviews but this has be eating at me all day. I verified and paid.....completely ridiculous.

Found by accident

By Iralgo |

While driving north on I81 I was in the mood for Amish food. We looked up Amish restaurants in the area and came across the Pennsylvania Dutch Market. We got off the interstate and headed to the market. We were overwhelmed. It is fantastic. Every type of fresh food imaginable. Huge bakery, fresh pretzels fruit stand and cheese amongst other foods. A large eating court. Several home cooked food stands. Highly recommend. Rating...Excellent

Great lunch options

By Jennifer W |

My family and I stayed overnight in Hagerstown on our way home from Hilton Head. We visited Pennsylvania Dutch Market and had so much fun exploring the all of the food options. We ate our way through the different areas. The donuts and pumpkin bread were delicious! We loved the brisket from the BBQ counter along with several salads from the deli. After we ate lunch, we took some time shopping in the home goods section.

Amish furniture is really that expensive!

By John B |

OK, so you are not in the mood to pay $5K on a "rustic" table lovingly handcrafted by the elderly by candlelight. You can still pig out on the barbecue or other goodies inside! Cheap-Not exactly. Food quality-decent. Who knows, after you finish that pile of food you just might go for the $300 lawnchair!

Good PA Dutch food, overpriced crafts

By Pinback |

This is a good place to have a nice lunch and find hard to find Pennsylvania Dutch foods. The crafts are standard variety country style items that are not particularly interesting or typical of the area. Craft prices are high.

Average is generous

By Tasmandevil |

Another "Amish" place. Nothing against the Mennonites or the Amish but they really ought to trademark their names so they don't get overly done as is the case here. Nice produce etc but nothing special. If I lived near here I'd probably get some of my fresh produce here but I didn't see the draw. Small parking lot, which should accommodate more than should come here. Glad we tried it but won't be back. We bought some steaks and asked where they came from "midwest, like maybe Missouri or somewhere". Oh.

It's like going to grandma's house! yummmy food and smells everywhere!

By blizzard425 |

from the moment you walk in the door, you know you are about to find your happy place... watch bread being baked, then buttered... taste testing pickle bar... amazing chip beef gravy...fried asparagus... you can't go wrong...

Excellent Quality

By rmorin49 |

Priced a bit higher than grocery stores but selection and quality is outstanding. Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I would go everyday if I could

By ouijapad |

This place is amazing!!!!! The pretzels are to die for. You cannot go wrong with any of the pretzels. And don't get me started on the donuts. My son loves it here. If it was open more often and closer to my home, this would be the only place I would eat. They have great special nights such as steak night and a fish fry. The pulled pork they offer during the pig and ox roast is some of the best I have ever had. I give kudos to the staff who make the long commutes every weekend to bring us such amazing food.

Amazing Farmers Market

By Sue B |

Always hear great things but hard to get to when just open Thurs, Fri, Sat. Decide had to stop since off work on a Friday. This place has everything. Fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, baked goods, furniture and home decor. Even has food you can eat right there. Place was busy, but service was quick, place was clean, and comfortable. Fresh apple dumplings and fresh peach dessert , sweet corn, blueberries, donuts, soft pretzels, caramel candy apples, and chocolate covered cashews came home with us.

Bummer

By Krista H |

Wanted to like it. Pretty much just food...no shops. The candy was horribly stale. The bakery looked great, but one doughnut was dry and one was raw in the middle. A waste of time and money. Go to Shrewsbury instead.

A good representation of an Amish market.

By steph51454 |

The selection is eclectic but not overwhelming/ Note that it is only certain days and you should check before going.

Great food and great stuff

By Delaney |

You will not be disappointed. The food is fantastic and large portions. They dont skimp.
Amish done as Amish do. First class and quality plus friendly.

Prepare to eat a lot

By LittleMissTasha |

So much to try here. All made locally or in house by the Dutch Amish community. The pie and cake section is a highlight for a sweet tooth. Hot foods available at the back. Deli foods available at the front along with canned and fresh goods.

hope you are hungry!

By 2april |

so many delicious foods to choose from. fresh items to take home and cook yourself or let the vendors serve you a delicious country breakfast or lunch. the homemade candy is wonderful, i love the potato candy.

Come Hungry, Leave Happy

By coachmicheled |

As a born and bred southerner very new to the Pennsylvanian Dutch people, I was in awe of the teenaged Amish (I believe they were anyway) and adults that ran each of their sections. Incredibly friendly and quick on the draw to get you what you need.
I visited on a Saturday afternoon and they were bustling.

There are many counters serving a variety of hot meals: BBQ plates, hot sandwiches, bakery, home style meals (pot roast, potatoes, ect), fried chicken, salads and pastas... Just about anything you could want except oriental or Mexican food. Everything was freshly made and most of the meats that were cooked came from animals they had raised on their own farms.

There is a small section of handmade furniture that had a lot of southern, farm style charm. Pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. Quality, hard word that is unique.

A butcher counter is also available for raw meats to purchase, great prices and you know it came from well tended animals!

Local or tourist, you need to visit this place and get some grub!

High Quality Food

By rmorin49 |

This local market is run mainly by Amish from PA. The food is very high quality and the staff is very friendly. It is only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They sometimes have Ox Roasts outside. They also sell furniture, baking supplies and plants.

Lunch stop

By M2Denis |

This market has a wonderful Pennsylvania Dutch atmosphere. Loads of fresh produce, cheeses, meats, fresh baked goods and home decor. The barbecue is delicious and plan to order extra to go. Seating is open market style. Fresh rolled pretzels, pies, rolls and breads are mouth watering. Great place to pick up lunch or dinner.
Home decor items are perfect for gifts and furnishing a home. Holiday items are also available.

CUSTOMER SERVICE-THE OLD FASHION WAY

By grizzlay47 |

Purchased a custom made farm table, which by the way was the lowest priced of the 4 Amish Markets that I visited, when I was unloading the table I noticed a small 1/8" ding on the edge that I probably could have repaired but I thought it should be brought to their attention. I e-mailed the market at 8pm on a Sunday evening, within 15 min I received a response, the market was open the next day due to the Christmas schedule and at 11am the Market manager arrived at my residence to address the problem. The solutions ranged from a quick touchup to having the edge refinished at the Lancaster shop, I chose the former and was told that the next time I visited the market there would be a gift certificate for me. I visited the market and redeemed my certificate for some wonderful food that is always served there.

Great market

By Andy W |

All kinds of cheeses, meats, sandwiches, sweets, etc. Nice people and good service. Open Thurs, Fri and Sat. Recommend a visit.

Great Market!

By OhioSuzy |

Stopped in to look around. They have well made solid wood furniture and they have a decor section. They have wonderful outdoor furniture too. You can get an amazing breakfast or lunch here. They have a bakery and a bulk foods section. Don't pass by if in the area.

Breakfast Fridays With Trinity Lutheran

By bksearch |

Always have a great breakfast with friends there. Love the creamed chipped beef at Vernas Great food and wonderful service

The food choices are varied and endless!!

By Betsey L |

This is the neatest place to walk through- bulk foods to local mild and butter. You can eat there- many choices of foods. I've never been here when it wasn't crowded!! But it worth facing the crowd! I lingered at the bakery......

Repeat Customer

By ProfExit1 |

The PA Dutch Market sells a variety of foods and furniture. The deli has a wonderful array of traditional PA Dutch and local salads. The cheese is also delicious. There is a bulk foods stand with candy, spices, and other dry goods. The bakery offers cookies, cakes, breads, whoopie pies, pies, and cheesecake. Donuts are also available. Several vendors offer ready to eat foods.

Great Food

By Lou O |

Food is fresh and tastes outstanding; great place for the foodie. Only downside is everything is expensive.

Not for me

By Dunweir |

The place had a dirty feeling to it. I felt very crowded being pushed through the buffet and craft maze. Way, way over priced for bulk food, meat, and cheese choices. I will say they do have quite a selection though.I got a rack of ribs and they were good. My biggest problem was being pushed by the crowd behind us while waiting for the people in front of us to move. And not to be disrespectful, but watch out in the parking lot for the senior drivers.

Great place!

By Sharron M |

Went there as recommended by a family member. The drive for us is about 50 minutes but so worth it. So many different and interestingly food. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. We had lunch and then bought lots of doodles to take home. Be sure you take a cooler to put perishables in. Hard to choose what to bring home. Will be going again soon.

Great food and "neat" stuff

By Angie P |

I work nearby and I like to stop here on Friday evenings to pick up dinner. I usually "need" to go through the bakery and candy areas too to pick up something special for the family. The variety is wonderful and everything I've ever gotten has been very good. There is a sit down area if you want to eat in as well.
I didn't give a full five stars for two reasons: 1-its pricey - I rarely ever by the produce because I can get it cheaper at the grocery store. 2-I don't care for the need to pay at each separate vendor. My bank actually turned off my debit card once due to there being so many individual charges in a short period of time.

A great place to visit when hungry

By Russ |

This was a great place to shop for bakery, produce, cheese, meat, and lunch meat. Cafeteria with fried chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, deli sandwiches, pizza.

Goods eats

By Anita K |

Good place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of homemade items food and furniture. There's fresh produce (a little pricey), dairy, meats, baked goods and bulk candy. Be sure to sample the cheeses.

Delicious and Fairly Priced

By cathyrnt |

This has become our favorite lunch stop on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. I always begin with food from one of the freshly cooked stands- country ham sandwich and soup for me and b-b-q beef, pork, ribs, or wings for my friend. After eating, it’s walk around and decide what to take home- homemade donuts, fresh cheeses, deli meats and sides, fresh poultry or beef, and baked goods. There’s much more, but I can’t list them all. You can’t go wrong- and most stands let you sample the products.

Saturday Breakfast

By idamariehegg |

I have eaten here a few times while in Hagerstown. The food has always been very tasty. Rarely do you fine freshould ham you can cut with a plastic fork. It us always busy because it us all good.

By catsmile2107 |

I enjoyed browsing the PA Dutch Market in Hagerstown. There's plenty of food vendors, and one or two craft/furniture vendors. It is only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Definitely recommended for food lovers!

Dutch Market

By Dusty232 |

They are only open Thursday - Saturday but worth the trip. Plenty of free parking. They have a bakery, a candy shop, a deli, pizza, warm pretzels, fresh meats and produce. You can sample a wide variety of cheeses. There is a place to sit down and enjoy a delicious sandwich. You can browse unique gifts, quilts or furniture. Or if you like to cook they have a large selection of spices and jams. There is even a German shop. They are all friendly hard working people.

Lots of Variety

By J D |

The Dutch Market is located in the Long Meadow Shopping Center which means there is plenty of parking available. They can get very busy so you may have to walk a bit to get from your car to the market. Inside you have a variety of foods to pick from including a full-service bakery and meat counter. Prices are a little higher than other stores, but you visit for the experience as well as the products.

Good food

By Glendon L |

The Pennsylvania Dutch Market have good food at reasonable prices, you can get a nice hot fresh meal for uou and family, you can dine in or take it with you. I love going there for the foid and its friendly atmosphere.

Amazing.

By Chris F |

If your looking for quality food, then go here. They have everything plus more. Everything is fresh, and the taste is like nothing you have ever had.
The prices are fair, and instead of a store, i always get my veggies and bread from here. The donuts are great too.

A heaping helping of Pennsylvania Dutch right here in Hagerstown, Md.

By Ralph E |

A lot to enjoy, all Amish and all under one roof. Amish handcrafted furniture. Amish fresh grown fruits and vegetables. Huge selection of Amish baked goods ..breads cakes, pies, confections of all kinds. And they have an Amish deli, fresh cheeses, meats sandwich meats, cooked meats. They even have a sit down luncheon area with fresh soups and sandwiches to eat on the spot. I forgot to mention the homemade cheese spreads in every imaginable flavor and the huge candy department. If you go one time, you're going to go again. The folks are that nice and products are that great.

Great Selection

By MJW |

the market has something for everyone, sweets, fresh fruit and vegetables, meats and the spice selections are great! Staff at the various booths are friendly and helpful.

Best Market in Town - A Must if in Hagerstown

By Bob G |

Many many food stations all with delicious food. The meat counter is also awesome - I purchase the baby back ribs weekly for grilling. Have purchased my share of vegetables, candies, and salads as well. Also have bought my share of furniture. First timers should plan for a couple of hours.

Nice all around place for fresh baked goods

By Al B |

By DeavBBQ |

The perfect place for Saturday morning breakfast. Verna's sub shop is really good. Huge portions at a reasonable price. All the breakfast classics. And best of all, perfectly cooked scrapple! Try a scrapple wrap.

Anybody hungry?

By Rachel N |

As far as Dutch markets go, this is a great one to go to if you're looking for something delicious to eat. There are many vendors selling food from fully cooked meals to raw meats. The quality of their food is top notch and if you are looking for great ingredients to make a delicious meal, this is the place to go.

This place is great

By Dealy412 |

The quality of the products is great, and the food that they have to eat is also great. I would recommend going there.

Great variety of food and craft items!

By nnash214 |

The Dutch Market has a very wide selection of food, candy, baked goods, produce and crafts. It is a must visit for lunch as they have plenty of options and seating. Everything is a great value! Try the Sour Cream Cheesecake and the Stuffed Pretzel pockets!

Delicious food

By jcjohnson25 |

Very busy because it is so good!! Be prepared to wait in lines but it is so worth it! We have enjoyed almost all of the separate food places and they are all excellent. There is an area to sit and eat if you choose but it tends to get busy and sometimes is hard to find a place to sit. The baked goods are especially good and the donuts in particular, are fantastic!

Not Pennsylania Dutch But still Very Good

By Jim M |

Strictly speaking, if you see Pennsylvania Dutch, you think Amish. But this isn't about splitting hairs, it's about a market, with quite a few different vendors, offering lots of good home made breads, pies, cakes, salads, vegetables, desserts, and crafts.

There are several vendors who offer fresh meats and poultry, both cooked on site for immediate consumption and raw, to take home to cook the way you want to. And if you have a sweet tooth, there is one section that contains just about every confection you can think of, including sugar free.

Best of the almond butter.

By Phillip S |

Have browsed throughout the store on several occasions. Do not have any expertise on anything than the quality and competitive price of the almond butter. Their almond butter does not have a puddle of oil floating on top that drips off a spoon. It has a firm but moist texture that allows eating off the spoon without dripping. Almond butter is great for high blood sugar and high cholesterol.

truly a family market!

By Debbie C |

My family and I visit this market as often as possible. The variety and quality of food is wonderful! When we go , we plan to eat there and allow time to look around at all the crafts, fresh produce, and packaged products. There's always something we may have missed during the last trip. The employees are always very pleasant :)

Fresh

By jramsburg61 |

People are friendly and courteous. Prices are reasonable and it’s clean. Food is awesome! Assorted cheese, cheeses, meats, donuts . You name it they have it. Furniture on premises are all handmade. Their Ox and Pig roast is a big hit !!

Fun and tasty

By Sandy M |

So much to enjoy at this market. From beautiful plants, hanging baskets, outdoor furniture, indoor furniture, ready made meals, fresh produce, awesome pies and cakes, fresh meats, you could spend a couple hours here. Come have breakfast, do some shopping, then have lunch. Friendly vendors

Variety is wonderful!

By Lorena F |

Nice place for lunch with friends. Had a delicious crab cake sandwich and bought Old Bay favored pickles. Yum!! They also have pizza, pretzels, baked goods, and wonderful meats!

Checking them out

By Nihilator |

We stopped by to see how big the market was and what different kinds of items were for sale. They had a wide variety of items. The food items looked wonderful. We found out at one vendor, who said that he had been at the one at Burtonsville,Md. and Laurel, Md. earlier in his career. We loved the one in Burtonsville before it closed. They have a webpage, only happen on a few days. It is in a shopping center. If we are in the area, we will stop by to see what they have and pick up a few goodies.

Olde Timey Goodness

By Lori M |

When you walk in the PDM , it is like taking a step back to simpler, sweeter times. The people are so friendly and helpful to find you exactly what you are looking for. Whether it is a home made lunch, or a load of freshly picked veggies, or some finely crafted furniture , this place has got you covered. Most of the vendors are happy to let you sample any of the goods in order to help you make a decision. There are too many vendors to list, but the cheese case and bakery are not to be missed. Take a group and make an afternoon of it. I promise, you will want to come back.

High quality items priced at market value

By TomV72 |

This small looking building is actually bigger than it looks. Many high quality, fresh items and an assortment of shops. Furniture, vegetables, bakery and deli to name a few. If you are looking to find a deal this isn't quite the place for that- items are priced at their worth.

High Quality Food but at a price

By rmorin49 |

We live within walking distance of this market and have shopped their many times. They have an excellent selection of high quality, fresh meats, salads, produce, bakery items, and deli foods. You get what you pay for as the quality is high but the prices are higher than what you would pay at a grocery store. The market also offers furniture, crafts, live plants and several times of year they have ox roasts, barbecues and other outdoor food items. It is worth a visit.
