Awesome family beach

By Amanda H |

This is a very friendly and safe family beach. It has everything you will need for a great family day out, volleyball, children's play area, restrooms and showers, also a beach shack serving hot snacks or take your own charcoal and use one of the many bar-b-que's available. The sunsets are not to be missed at this beautiful beach.
There is a small fee to park your car.

Great little beach for family's

By Sussex001 |

Each year we travel back to Spring Hill and visit pine island beach. It is well maintained and the water is warm and shallow so great for young children. Today we saw dolphins just playing about near to the shore. Great little snack bar to. Make sure you arrive early as the beach is very popular and the car park is small with limited spaces. Its $5 to park for the whole day.

Hidden Gem in Hernando County

By Pamela W |

This is a lovely gem of a park in Hernando County, near Wickee-Wachee. Not too crowded, not too desolate with a delightful breeze coming in off the Gulf. There is a convenient food shack and plenty of shaded picnic tables. Tons of parking. Separate swimming area the is VERY child friendly (shallow). Separately you can launch kayaks or cast a line. Nice & clean!

First time in 30 years

By Sherry L |

I hadn't remembered the beach but now I know why. It was rather unimpressive with the sand at the water line very mucky. Tiptoed around LOTS of seagull poop. There were lots of people surprisingly but we didn't stay long. Won't visit again.

Local attraction

By Vacationers |

Seems more geared towards locals than tourists, which we loved. Great food at the little beach grill on top of it.

Rude and racist remark

By catherine g |

The old white guy on the gate is rude. I was about to pay the gate and he said “ do you speak english?” just because I have a brown skin doesnt mean I dont know how to. and why would you even ask that for a person who id about to pay the entrance. I said yes and he said “ Just asking”. SO RUDE”and i find it as being racist stereotyping brown skin people to not know how to speak english.

Ok Park

By MrMiamiExplorer |

Not to be confused with a few other Pine Island Parks, this one is located in Plantation, West Broward County, FL. It is located just behind the Westland Broward mall. Admission and parking are free. The park has a small playground as well as wide open areas of green space for football, baseball, soccer and other recreational activities. There was also a concession stand that was closed, as well as restrooms that frustratingly were locked (even though it was early on a Sunday afternoon). I guess the park staff want guests to relieve themselves on the trees. As pretty much the only foliage was a few large trees, not a lot of wildlife was observed. I only saw a few grackle birds and a perched osprey (who later took flight holding what appeared to be a fish in his talons)

Late afternoon walk

By Gege B |

Beautiful beach and views of the gulf and little islands around. Kids loved playing in the midst sand at low tide and observing hermit crabs.

Beach

By wnallison14 |

Nice spot to go for a swim or just lay back and relax. Canteen on site. Not a big parking lot so fills up quickly on nice days.

just your average beach

By Sandra F |

No great food truck or frills of any kind. Way too long a drive to get there unless you live in the comunity.

Beautiful Gulf Sunset

By newtapper |

Beautiful Gulfside park with playground for the kids, beach, boating and picnicking access. Small eatery on the property that takes cash only. Worth the drive and the view!

My favorite go to place for a beach close to home

By scarter9 |

While not your "typical" beach with big waves and miles of sand, it's lovely. It has simply wonderful sunsets, soft white sand and a nice cash only cafe for snacks or a meal. Parking is at a premium during busy times and costs between $2-$5 depending on the time of day and season. There are some pavilions if you need shade or want a family gathering. Otherwise, just bring a beach chair, your favorite book and a camera to get the seagulls and black skimmers and enjoy your time here! I have seen dolphins a couple of times out in the water and you can wade out about 150 feet without getting wet above your waist. You can also launch a kayak from here, which I plan to do soon!

Great place to catch a sunset on the Gulf

By Elise S |

It looked like a nice little beach to take the family during the day, but we just drove down to see the sunset. Even though it was cloudy, it was a great sunset, with a nice deck to watch it on, and a nice change from our usual position at Hernando Beach.

Famify Beach

By JimLake132 |

Beautiful place, but get there early we got there about 11:15 a.m.and there was a waiting line but it only took us about 5 minutes by the time we got a place to park. Nice little food stand and the prices are reasonable. Also they have BBQ pits but bring your charcoal. Playground for the little ones and you can walk out a 2 to 300 ft and only have water up to your knees.

Sweet beach

By boggypeak |

We really enjoyed this place. I went twice - once early in the morning and then two days later in the afternoon. I would recommend a morning visit because there are far fewer people - both both times were fun. A sign warned us that the lot was full to capacity so I was all set to just drop off my teenagers, but once we arrived, three spaces had opened up. There is literally no place to park other than the parking lot - there's a $115 fine for parking on the street (outside the lot), so that's a bit of a drag. I brought googles and saw a manta ray, needle fish and crabs. I was there for both high and low tides. Low tides were fun because of the little crabs. It was a great place to cool off, and quite clean. We had a drink at the cabana. It was very relaxing.

Cute little park

By danrodz |

This is a nice place to have a picnic, take a stroll, do some wading. Not much more to it than that. A nice concessions stand that we didnt try.

Nice little coadtal park

By gary s |

$5 parking fee, but its worth it. Clean rest rooms, drink vending machines, playground and sun/rain shelters with nice big benches.
This area is a way out from route 19, so bring what you will need. Feels remote as this is a small peninsula pointing out to sea. Calm waters and magical sunsets. We saw bottlenose dolphins at sunset!

Enjoy Low Tide

By Kimberly S |

During low tide you can walk along the beach exploring in the sand and grass while watching numerous fish. During the week it is fairly quiet in the number of people on the beach. A nice time to go. Once the tide is in, it is shallow but still interesting enough to venture out. The beach is very clean. Bring some chairs, a cooler of food and relax a bit.

Nice small park

By Steve C |

Wife and I was there New Years Day, beautiful day, $5 per car fee was waived. Crystal clear water, white sand and warm water for Jan. Tiki bar! Nice bath house and snack bar. Definitely will visit again

Nice small beach

By Tartsis |

It was difficult to find parking space for the car. Beach was clean, small, windy and beatiful. Picnic places, toilets, cafee etc..

Place to get beautiful sunset pics

By EdieL. |

by day a nice beachy area, kind of brackish water, sometimes you see dolphins. wonderful place to watch and photograph sunsets, picnic tables, playground, small food concession. there are outside showers to rinse off as well as bathrooms, I think there is a 5 dollar charge.

It's ok

By JennandC |

It's a beach. If you're in the area and want to go to a beach then this is your only choice. Not beautiful at all compared to other Florida beaches.

great local beach!!

By bz2qk3 |

Very clean white beach. clean bathrooms and small food store. You can walk out 400 yards and still be only up to your waist. Great for families with small kids

Great place to take the little ones

By Britaussiedude |

A pretty little spot with white sandy beaches that slide down into a sandy bottom that goes for 50 yards or more at knee depth, depending on the tide.

The warm waters of the gulf make this a great spot even when the weather is a little cool.

An amazing place to watch sunsets! Snack bar & restrooms. Parking fee.

A little gem!

By Angela J |

Great little beach. Lots of shade under palm trees or the shelters with picnic tables. There is a place to buy something to eat, and restrooms/changing facilities. Water is clear but greenish in colour due to the nearby reeds etc. Beach is sandy but not manicured like Clearwater. It was just a lovely spot to chill. Very safe for children too as water was shallow for quite a distance, and no real waves to worry about. They can even go looking for crabs! We saw dolphins and a pelican whilst there, and lots of fish when looking over the end of the small wooden dock. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it took us 2 hours from Kissimmee. Think there are closer beaches. However, if you like it less crowded and less commercial this is definitely a beach worth visiting. Sunsets are wonderful too!

Wonderful little surprise

By Sullivans207 |

Took a daytrip here while visiting my 77 year old mother. At first we thought, well, cute but maybe we will just look around and then goto another beach. So, glad we stayed! There is a small parking lot, keeps the number of visitors low! $5 to park...bringing our lunch made this a super cheap day, but there was a very active food spot on site and folks seemed to really enjoy it.

Bathrooms were clean a great plus at a small place for sure! Not a great deal of area to walk around but, the air was wonderful, soft, warm and fresh. The sand was clean, warm and soft! Lots of families with little kids, but again, not over crowded and the shallow water made it great for little kids and older folks. My mom got into and out of the water easily, (there are a few stairs, but very managable -- and she enjoyed/appreciated the covered tables to sit at! The palm trees offer shade, and are very Lorax-ish:)

The beach was clean, little crabs and fish were cute. We thought we would stay just a bit, we stayed the whole afternoon. The location is quiet, relaxing and peaceful, glad we did not leave! The gulf water was warm and very calm. It is shallow, no deep swimming here and at low tide....even shallower. Bring a beach chair if you can.

Lovely little park....not a lot to do but that made it perfect, we relaxed, napped, enjoyed the water and views and just appreciated a lovely quiet Thursday afternoon in Florida. Calm and quiet.

I loved it since it was my first time in Florida

By Sundae P |

Just want to know why you can't swim past the signs. Water was warm no tide one side of the park had signs warning you about crocodile

For beach lovers

By blzfan |

We ended up here while roaming around the area. It is definitely for the beach goer which we are not. We paid the $5 parking fee and were there for about a half hour. Did see a number of blue crab from the observation deck and got to enjoy some gulf coast scenery.

Nice park with some great views.

By disneyhero |

We took my granddaughter to the Pine Island Park and had a great time. The park has an entry fee of $3.00 which includes parking, a kids playground, nice bathrooms and some great views. The park also has a nice snack bar. There were a lot of people there on an unusually 80+ degree December day - most getting some sun and even a few in the water. We will be back on our next visit!

Nice Beach!

By Gr8BrdLovr |

Great place to spend the day or even an afternoon. Nice beach and Willys Cafe is there if you need something to snack on. Be prepared to pay $5 for entry starting mid February!

Great to see some sun and sand!

By Travis O |

Visiting from Michigan to look at houses in Hudson and stopped here for a day. It was a very small beach area and we were told prior to coming not to get in the water because there had been high bacteria/fecal counts in the water in the past so that kind of sucked. It was a decent place to visit in general but could have been a lot better. They had some snack options which was nice.

Families, couples and individuals alike will enjoy this beach.

By FLworldwanderer |

A great place to take the entire family for a fun,and relaxing day. $5 to park, then find a nice location, spread the blanket, and enjoy. Food is available, but you can bring your own. The summer months are crowded, so plan your visit in a timely manner. Shallow water off the beach, so you can hold your young children by the hand, and have fun together. Try it ... you may like it! Hope this helps.

Very nice park!

By Sue H |

while visiting the park we saw dolphins in the Gulf :) That was a highlight for us :) The park was very nice and clean too!

Nice park

By Don37273727 |

This is a nice park if you want to lay on the beach or search in the water, but I don't recommend it for swimming. They also offer concessions there in the park. I knew that this was not a swimming park before I went so my expectations were met. Parking is a bit expensive at five dollars for the day as compared to other areas but I was staying 10 minutes away so didn't mind paying the extra for the quick drive.

Nice place.

By Kirk B |

One of the only beaches in the area and it is pretty nice. The water is pretty shallow so great for younger kids, there are some amenities around as well. Good view also.

island getaway

By Suzi S |

As always with KOA we had friendly helpful people and a wonderful stay. 1st time in a kabin and we loved it. The island is a great place to explore and ride bikes...absolutely beautiful

Lovely small beach

By jpinet |

Pretty small beach, clean and scenic. Public restrooms. Was $2 to park on the day we went. Not at all crowded. Before getting to the beach, there is a walking/auto road on the left side of the entrance road. We parked on this road to walk and view more of the area. A nice flat short walking tail that is easy for most.

Sunset

By Richard M |

Small quiet park with boat launch and a few picnic tables. Great for relaxing sunset views. No beach or swimming.

Beautiful!

By JLZplus4 |

Beautiful park with a small playground, a snack stand, bathrooms, and outdoor shower. Lots of times you will get lucky and see dolphins.

Day at the Beach

By Don T |

This a small but well-maintained beach. The restrooms are clean, and there outdoor showers. There are covered picnic tables, and there is a concession stand. There is a fishing area at the far end of the beach. It's a nice place to spend a day.

Very nice beach

By Marcus D |

This is a very nice beach to visit, perfect for families and small children. There are some picnic tables and pavilions, but they seem to fill up fast. There is a pretty good sized playground available. The place can get pretty crowded, but it's not uncomfortable. We were there on two different days. The first day we arrived around 3:30pm and stayed until sunset. The second day we arrived around 10am and stayed until 3pm. The crowd in the morning is much more laid back than what you get in the afternoon. This beach offers some amazing sunset photo opportunities. There's a decent small restaurant on site as well. A $5 parking fee is required.

Off the beaten track

By gloriahayswi |

A small beach, it can be hard to find a place to park on a weekend. The water is shallow & warmer then the wide open Gulf, it's more of a bay. Sometimes pods of dolphins play, there's a playground, grills & covered shelters, also an outdoor cafe with decent food but it's a little pricey.

Visiting Mom

By Louis M |

Nice park and beach with lots of parking (but still not enough during Spring Break). Nice day trip destination on the Gulf Coast near great fishing at Aripeka. Not far from Weeki Wachee Springs.

A Nice Little Hernando County Park

By divaonthego2017 |

This is a nice little Hernando County Park overlooking the Gulf. It's the perfect place to take in a sunset. There is a concession snack bar with a varied menu and reasonable prices. The small beach is a nice quiet place to work on your tan lines as well as to take the children. Amenities include a playground, picnic tables, showers and bathroom facilities, and an observation deck. The parking fee is $5.00 daily and parking is at a premium, especially mid-day. There just aren't enough parking places and that is my only complaint. There is room for more people than there are parking spaces. I am ranking this destination a 4 versus a 5 because of the parking. I have been there several times and driven around for 30-45 minutes to no avail in an effort to get a parking space.

Beautiful Sunsets

By sthomas0616 |

We went to this park several times to watch the sunset; it also has a beach, park for the kids and a Tiki Bar serving food during the day. The first time we came we actually were witness to a couple getting married at sunset; beautiful location! Put this on your 'to do' list when visiting this area.

Heaven for Kids

By Tammy B |

This is a family oriented beach with a playground in the middle of the parking lot. It has the beach for kids, playground, and a nice tiki hut outside for the adults.

Visiting

By Sumich52 |

Love this park. Bring family whenever they visit. Love seeing dolphins. Food at snack bar great. Always a great family time

Cute little beach area

By Gilda H |

Adorable beach, perfect if you have children as it is very calm and the playground is great. Nice beach volleyball court too.

Pine Island Park

By 387indy |

Pine Island Park has a beach with white sand a few pine needles, places to park. They have trails, an area for young children, and its maintained.

More than I expected

By Risacapone |

Great little beach. Loved the snack shack. It's definitely worth hitting if you want a quiet day at the beach. It's not too crowded at all.

Beautiful

By Sara B |

Love visiting Pine Island when in the area, the beach is cleaned daily and has golden sand. The water is shallow and pretty clear. As it is off the track it is usually very quiet. $5 all day parking is great value.
Seeing dolphins frolicking just off the shoreline is an added bonus.
Will be back in December.

Nice little spot

By jgolden86 |

I had never been to a gulf beach before...surprise...no waves. That was a little different. Without the sound of the waves it felt more like visiting a lake. But the are was pretty, well laid out. They had playground equipment for kids and a little beach diner. Because there wasn't much water movement, the water on one side of the park was stagnant and seemed a little dirty. Other than that, it was a nice place to spend a few hours to relax.

Best Beach on the Nature Coast of Hernando County!

By LORRIE S |

Same as: Alfred McKethan / Pine Island Park

Some of the beaches around this area leave a lot to be desired and unless you're willing to travel another 50 miles south-this one is the best. It's not like the large, over-crowed touristy beaches, more of a laid-back local country beach.

Located on the Gulf of Mexico with clear, calm water with little waves and white sands. A large roped off swimming area that you can walk out quite a long distance before it gets deep-great for kids. No lifeguards on duty. Its waters are tested every year and if ever found unsafe, they would post it.

There is an area by the wall that has rocks (very slippery) where you can see crabs during the low tide.

There are covered picnic tables, grills, an outdoor shower, restrooms, playground, and a volleyball court. Willy's Tropical Breeze Cafe is located here also.

Open from 8 am-8 pm. Parking is $5 ($2 after 5 pm).

Alcohol not permitted.

There is a wood deck jutting out over the water that is great for pictures. (We actually saw a very sweet wedding vows done here at sunset.)

Beach day

By clpjr2000 |

The park has a nice size beach for not being in one of the highly known areas. Parking is good sized and the beach is well maintained and clean. There is a playground for younger kids nice size and in great shape. Good beach bathroom facilities also well maintained. 5 dollar parking fee used for the up keep. The water is clear and for large area 3 to 5 feet deep in the entire swim area with gentle to no waves. The water is dived into 3 parts once you get in. First is the wash area with some sea grass floating around. Second sandy bottom with none to very little floating. Third is sand and grass bottom with little to nothing floating. The grass bottom mixed with sang changes in density. As tide rolls out crabs and hermit crabs are seen or can be found. Some fish swimming around but I have never seen a school of them. As the tide rolls out you can walk well past the swim line this is a shallow water area. We really enjoyed this location in all. Not the busy beach seen as this is more laid back. Will return again and again.

Don't drive to Clearwater beach

By alozam |

Don't waste the hour and a half ride if you're in Springhill. Go west on Cortez route 50 and about 6 miles out you will come to Pine Island bring cash cost five dollars to park and has a really nice Fish hut restaurant that has great food there also barbecues a cabana on the beach bring your snorkel because I've seen dolphins 20 feet from the shore. At Lowtide you can walk out a quarter of a mile and be up to your knees there's a jetty stay off of it I've seen a couple of people get hurt really bad here around the jetty very sharp oysters and they will open you up like a scalpel Great place I like it much better than all the other beaches hardly anybody is ever there

Pretty

By Brenda R |

Small and not much water but a good place to set and enjoy sun and family time. Beautiful sand and sun.

Beautiful Scenery

By w00dsyrice |

This is not the "usual" park or beach, by any means. But in this area, where beaches are scare, its beautiful and unique. The water is warm, kid-friendly--but watch out, the small parking area for the beach fills up early!

Perfect for families and small children

By oralynnq2 |

We couldn't get into Weeki Wachee springs (it was at capacity) so we came to this beach to have some fun. It had several picnic pavilions with shade. There was a playground that the kids (5yrs and 3yrs old) had a blast playing on. The sand on the beach is soft and the water is shallow. The kids and I walked out in to the water and we went quite a ways and they could still touch the bottom. I felt like it was a safe place for small children who don't swim well. It was shallow and there were no big waves. They played in the water and were able to have a lot of freedom because it was so shallow. There are bathrooms that you can use to change into your swim suits or clothes. Outdoor showers are available to rinse off the salt and sand. There's a concession stand that serves food and treats. Parking is $5, less if you go after 5pm. It was a great day.

Beach

By Michael S |

Went there earlier this month. The beech and facilities are generally keep quite clean, there is usually ample parking, and there are restrooms (changing rooms also) and a snack bar there. The water levels are very shallow so the best on can do is walk around in the water rather than really swim.

Sweet little beach

By Chi |

Pine Island beach, is not for everyone. You won't find loud music, drinking or volley ball. What you will find is quiet and peace on the gulf. Small groups of families with young children, seniors and their friends and a mix of locals and tourists. Parking is very limited which means you never feel crowded. A snack bar serves sandwiches as well as frozen treats. It is carefully patrolled and clean.

Perfect day for a kayak trip

By TPPChef |

A great spot to avoid the summer storm that was building inland. The current was not to bad. I tried to paddle up to the dolphin show, but they were moving too quickly. I spotted several rays, a snook, mackerel, and sheepshead. A family was on the hunt for crab. They were really small though. Most of my paddling was in less than one foot of water. $5 to park all day. This is definitely a locals spot. Great views of the gulf.

Very nice beach

By John M |

Have gone to pine island every time we visited My folks in Hernando Beach, Florida for the past 30 years. It just gets better. Great for families with kids.

Great little gem!

By Linsey J |

I visited this beach because we were at Weeki Wachee and I when I googled public beaches in the area this was listed. I loved everything about this park. Covered picnic benches near the water, palm trees to provide shade, snack bar, close parking to beach area, and bathrooms close by. It was by far one of the best beaches I have ever visited. The water was shallow enough you could just float for hours without being hit by crashing waves. Parking was $5 but well worth it! Very clean amenities and an easy stroll to the water from wherever you pitch your umbrella :)

Very soft, sandy beach is nice for wading and swimming

By katmai8 |

Beach has shallow water a ways out so is good for kids, also has a big playground. There are cold-water showers and changing rooms. Can be tough to find a place to park.

By Jennifer K |

Been here in summer and had to leave as there were no parking spaces (the attendent won't let any people in if the lot is full. It's a small parking lot too). There is limited parking, houses surrounding man made beach that isn't very deep. I guess if you had little kids they could play on the playground. If you just drive an hour or so south you'll find much better beaches. Or drive to the springs which are a lot nicer than this beach.

sunset

By Angel R |

We went to Pine Island to watch another sunset and was greeted with a drum circle. They normal come out to celebrate the full moon during the sunset. there was about 10 people with drums drumming and one or two women dancing in the middle of the circle. It was very cool to see this for the first time at Pine Island. We love going there for the sunsets and have a simple dinner there. We are so close that we don't go often enough to enjoy it. Must make more trips for sunsets there since we are so close to it.

Go

By Vince B |

$5 parking is very fair the beach in spotless we've been twice in the 1st week of September & seen Dolphins both times go down the car park & turn left to park the beach is the best

Beautiful piece of Florida

By flavin60 |

We visited this beach to see what it was all about. Only $5 to park for as long as you wish. Cute place to eat called Willys. Nice little waves for a good ocean experience. My understanding is that dogs can use the beach during the winter months. I will be checking on that. Have a dog who loves to swim. Beach is not huge, but very adequate. The ride there was very beautiful and in the process, discovered other points of interest. Will be visiting here again real soon. Clean and friendly. Nice playground for the little ones.

Nice park

By Brad D |

A very nice small beach. The day we were there a number of dolphins came swimming by. Nice drive down to it and spend a relaxing day.

Open water and hot sandy beaches.

By June G |

You can see for miles, over the open water. Several pavillions are available to keep you out of the sun, or spread out your towels and chairs to enjoy the heat. Changing rooms, and restrooms are available.

Great Beautiful Beach !

By Jean V |

Great for the whole family. Parking is easy and not expensive. There is a nice small restaurant for lunch opens about 11am. Great clean water and you want out a long long way before it gets deep. Love it.!!

Beachy fun in the sun

By Linda T |

Pine island beach is just a great wonderful beach , where you can relax with children and not worry about waves pulling you out of reach . It's year calm ,not very salty and not to deep or to shallow quite good for non swimmers or children. You have to get there early or you might not get in once the parking is full it's like the springs you can't get in until someone leaves which is not a problem people come and go frequently . My granddaughters loved this beach they got to play without fear of waves or not being able to see underwater because the water was very clear just a little black seaweed in spots ,I look forward to returning to this beach . They also have a small place to buy food or ice cream which is a plus if you don't think to bring a lunch .we brought a picnic lunch and bought ice cream before we left ,we were there for at least 3 hours it was wonderful very relaxing !

Nice little beach

By travelingtart |

Must get there early or plan to wait in line, they only have limited space, but it's a nice little spot to sit by the water, have a picnic, swim, etc.

A little slice of Paradise

By Gary S |

A lovely spot on the Gulf of Mexico just down 5 miles from Weeki Wachee attraction on the South Suncoast Hwy (Rt. 19) at (Rt. 50). Nice outdoor showers to rinse off after swimming and nice bathrooms and snack shack. Great picnic area. Nice drive along scenic two lane road surrounded by water to the island.

PINE ISLAND USED TO BE SO NICE...NOW HORRIBLE..AND PRICE INCREASE

By HAROLD Y |

The park is now in horrible condition. The seaweed on the beach is never cleaned! the price is now 5.00 and for what? No life guards, dirty stinking seaweed on the once beautiful sand. On the weekends there is a vendor operated inflatable water slide that is way too big for this mall beach...oh yea...11.00 to use it!! it is surrounded by orange plastic construction fence which they leave up after the water slide is taken down during the week. The County Park Attendant, Donald, was very rude to me last visit when I questioned the ugly plastic fence being there..IN fact he called me a "Disabled Idiot" I am a Disabled Veteran. He has been reported and yet the park office does not seem to care because he and the situation is unchanged. Save your $$$$..and watch the news for the next case of disease to come from this park. The slide vendor, PRIVATE, also uses county water on this slide and we are restricted to watering our lawns!! The bathrooms are not being cleaned as they used to also!

Relaxing and beautiful!!

By Amanda S |

I was in town for the week so I went to check this place out! It's beautiful and has a park for the kids to play and a food snack. Only thing is that they only take cash which was a bummer! I enjoyed it! 5$ to park

Small but pretty beach

By foodieb2014 |

Pretty beach, white sand --- lovely drive off SR50 to get there.
Parking can be an issue, and you have to pay.

There is a food stand, pretty good but not cheap, a pavilion to watch the sunset if you like. Boat dock for small boats too.
All in all, very pretty little local beach that can get very crowded parking sometimes.

Beautiful, shallow-water beach and sunsets!

By Brian R |

The park costs to park your car. It's worth it. Willy's cafe in the park is an icon......must see/eat. Super nice beach and not crowded. Warm water, very shallow, would be nice for kids along with the playground.

Beach Park

By Idnasflorida |

Very busy with people waiting for parking space. robably because we went on Saturday. $ 5 dollar fee--correct change or credit card, by machine.Beach area is small--15 ft. to water , but long. There were so many people I did not care for it at all. There are benches and pavilions, restaurant, rest rooms , volley ball court and coke machines. We probably wd not go back if in the area.

Nice Place!!

By Cindy D |

Small beach area with limited parking. Nice place, snack shack with a variety of food and drinks with cute picnic tables with umbrellas.

Nice day out

By Stan D |

Take the grandkids there when visiting from the north. Nice playground, beach area and snack bar. Get there early on weekends, it does fill up to capacity at times.

A Great Beach for the Family!

By Jean V |

Nice beach but go early as the last time we had to wait to find a parking space.
Great beach and you can walk out very far when low tide and be up to your knees. Lots of beach area and a great good food restaurants. The bathrooms are easy to get to and clean.
I love this beach , in the afternoon you can see dolphins.
$5.00 to park for the day.

By Jillean |

Don't miss the Sunsets. Worth the $2 parking fee. Restrooms are clean. No lifeguard on duty. Great playground for the kids.

By plasticman1234 |

We got to the beach a little late and had to wait a while for a parking spot. Beach was clean and it is close to our Florida home. The restrooms where clean Get their early
We will go back again

Park is Nice but Small

This is a nice park, has a decent beach but is pretty small. Could stroll the whole beach in 15- 20 minutes. Y

Great sunset

By Angela J |

Love coming for sunset, very relaxing and love the shallow water for what seems miles! Kids love it!

Family spot

By HPSGene |

Ok park area with accessible water for kids. Looks like a good place to take smaller kids. The water is warm calm and not too deep. The kids that were there were having a lot of fun.
Picnic tables under shelters, restrooms and food concessions (not open on the day we visited) would make this a nice little adventure for the kids.

Great Suprise

By Kendra L |

Close to Wiki Watchee. A gem of a small uncrowded beach and such a cool view. Clear waters with shallow water for half a mile and great park all together

HIDDEN GEM right on the waterfront!!

By Ernestine B |

Stopped by today while out exploring the area! Great little beach with picnic area, snack shop, plenty of room for sunbathing...was pleasantly surprised to find this way out in the boonies!!

Sorry I went

By trishwishes4 |

I went the last week of Sept. 2015. I guess there are more activities at other times of year. After discovering that the boat ride was the only activity my family could partake in we left and asked for our money back and were told no refunds. The beach was open but one of the men in my group was in a wheelchair and d/n swim. We spent $13.00 per person for a very unhappy time at a FLORIDA STATE PARK EVENT. I think Governor Rick Scott should go there with his family and then atleast they may take down the no refund signs.

A nice afternoon drive

By John I |

We have actually gone here twice and likely to go again. We love seeing interesting birds and found several there on each visit. It is a nice drive with very little traffic.

By Hannah H |

This is a wonderful beach! There is limited parking, so get there early! They do not allow alcoholic drinks or pets, so plan accordingly. There is also a little beach cafe with good food, cash only. All in all, a great spot!

Beautiful Sunsets and swim with the Dolphins!

By Nancy S. |

Small private beach, $5.00 to park the car and that's it. Alcohol is allowed only in a solo cup! LOL There is a cafe there called Willy's the best hamburgers in the world! Slushy drinks, soda and water. Clean restrooms. Children's play park, sand, palm trees, a small viewing deck, cabana for a picnic, just a perfect day on the Gulf of Mexico!

Fantastic sunset

By walkingshu2 |

This was my second visit to Pine Island. If you go after 4p.m. there is no charge.Water is shallow and there is a sandy beach area.
Great park for kids as there is a play area and playground equipment. BBQ grills available and picnic tables.

Absolutely love it here

By handj114 |

This is one of my most favorite spots in Florida. Absolute heaven. It's never crowded as car park isn't huge. It's very quiet and brilliant for families with children. If you want huge beaches with loud music this place probs isn't for you. There is a small snack bar, tables with cover for picnics , very clean toilets and outside showers to wash off sand. We've been here many times usually in May and June and a couple of times in December. Sand is white and soft (although not like flour in other parts of the Gulf such as Fort Myers). We drove here from Orlando, it's lovely drive
once off US 27 took about 2 hours. Sun sets are the best I've ever seen. I would love to rent a house here to watch the sunset and dolphins.

Nice little hidden gem of a beach/park

By bill5k |

$5 cash (ATM on site) gets you into a decidedly small parking area (it's a small beach). One must arrive before 10:30 am weekends to get a parking spot.

Beautiful, picturesque, clean, safe and shallow water Florida beach and picnic area. Bring your kayak and/or fishing gear. Relax under a palm tree or one of the pavilions. BBQ grills on site. RR facilities and a pricey (of course) eclectic concession stand area, serving wraps, burgers and dogs, etc.

Nice and quiet even when at capacity.

Beautiful day

By Lori L |

Spent the afternoon at Pine Island, nice small beach and park. The food bar is good. The water isn't your blue tropical water but it's still nice. A guy on a 6 wheeler kept driving thru people on the beach. That was quite annoying. He was emptying trash and would make people move if he couldn't drive thru. Then he was just driving all over. Other than that it was a great day at the beach.

beach Day Fun

By Suka81 |

This is a small beach on the golf. There is limited parking so plan to arrive early in the day. The beach is clean. There is a playground and a small take-out restaurant.

Nice sunset

By sprinklermanst |

It was a long drive,to a very small park, you can not swim here, the water is only ankle deep, and nasty, there were thousands of seagulls all over the sand it was like I was in a Hitchcock film. It stunk of rotten fish, and bird poop. it cost 5 dollars to park and be annoyed by birds. After all of that it was a nice sunset, but not sure it was worth all the trouble.

Beautiful, clean, secluded beach

By Glen H |

Great little state park. Clean, beautiful spot. Can get crowded on the weekend and the lot is small so can fill up fast. Only $5 to park, the concession stand food was pretty decent and mostly reasonably priced.

Low key and nice sand

By Vitsemp |

Pine Island park is a nice family place. Nice soft sand and pretty clean. There is a $5 entrance fee by carload.

Attended a Wedding on the Beach

By Arvid |

We attended a wedding this past weekend on the beach. A rainstorm earlier in the day cooled things down and probably improved the parking situation. It was a very nice venue for the event.

Local & tourist favorite.

By FLworldwanderer |

Now reopened from Hurricane Hermine, this beach area offers an ideal place to bring your young children, as the waters offshore are shallow. It also offers a quiet getaway for those who wish to relax, read a book, or just enjoy nature and the outdoors. Food is available for purchase, or bring your own. There are some pavilions & grills available. Parking fee @ $5. Plan your time accordingly, as this is a popular location, and fills up fast during the summer months.

Fun for our Grandchildren (and the oldsters)

By Charles H |

Our son and his wife, along with three grandchildren were visiting us and, as usual, we needed some outdoor activities for them. They took picnic lunches to Pine Island and had a great time. Beach was clean, parking was reasonable. A good day!

Beautiful sunset!

By Cindy B |

Lovely place to see the sunset. We even saw someone get engaged during the sunset! Plenty of parking, and and there were more seagulls around than I have ever seen in one place! Amazing!

Cute little beach park for swimming and sunset watching

By l5antti |

We got beach recommendation from Weeki Wachee and we headed to Pine Island beach. Along the road there is Bayport Inn which is great place to eat. Pine Island is nice small cape beach. Parking fee was $5. There was space in the small parking lot. Beach was nice sandy and very shallow water perfectly suibtable for small kids. Water and sand was brown like bit muddy but warm. All facilities were present: bathrooms, cafe, grills, shelters and playground. Some palm trees can give shadow.

People came here to watch sunset and it was really awesome view. The whole small beach park was fantastic spot absolutely worth visit if you need beach.

Beautiful beach

By Cindy R |

Nice beach. Very shallow warm water. Shower to rinse off. Beautiful sunset view. Not sure why restaurant is not open for food at 5 pm in middle of summer? But we found another place to eat.

Great place for a sunset and sea creatures

By The DayDreamer Fam |

We stopped in for a sunset. No pay after 4:30. The kids got to see crabs, stingray, horseshoe crab and dolphins. It was a nice time.

Long drive for nothing

By Stuart H |

Never got past the car park.
All we could see was a $5 car park, a snack shack and a mediocre beach. Admittedly not the best of days have but we decided not to get out of the car

10,000 NEGATIVE STARS!

By Sheldon I |

We drove up to the gate and had the parking attendant window shut in our faces as we pulled up by some old, surly, and VERY RUDE, woman who wouldn't even tell us what was going on. She pretty much shut the gate in our faces!

Therefore, we got the "H" out of there because the obviously DO NOT WANT OUR BUSINESS!

Plus, the water line was broken so you could not use the bathroom facilities, etc.

How can the restaurants operate without water? They should be forced to close down, according to code! Yet, they were still open and operating!

DO NOT GO HERE!!! VERY RUDE EMPLOYEES THAT OBVIOUSLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!!!!!!!!!!

If this is how they treat a family on Mother's Day, how do they treat them other days of the year?

Pine Island

By rjfla95 |

Pine Island is a small beach/park that guests can soak up some sun, enjoy the warm gulf waters, and just have a nice relaxing day. The park is relatively small compared to other beach destinations and it is recommend to arrive early especially if you want a pavilion. But the waters are warm, the sand is soft, and the sun is hot! Be sure to check out the volleyball courts, as well as the snack shack (get the mozzarella sticks)!

Check It Out If You Need a Quick Pit Stop

By Adrienne L |

I was expecting an area where we could roam and find seashells. This reminded me of Chicago's Lake Michigan except with palm trees. In my opinion, the only interesting part was me posing next to a palm tree.

Like having your own private beach

By Jason |

The pictures do not do this place justice.

Pros:

- limited parking keeps the crowds away and it feels like a private beach.
- water is shallow very far out
- modest waves
- amazing sunsets
- concessions
- very very clean
- dolphins and wildlife

Cons:

During spring break or summer months get there before 10am or come after 3pm. They lock the gate and there is no where to park in the area. It’s not a fair con because it’s just popular as the only real beach nearby.

I see signs that say to watch for barnacles on the rocks. Others have mentioned being cut. Stay off the rocks and consider wearing water shoes. I walked on the rocks barefooted and also saw many people without shoes on and seemed fine!

Nice beach, not enough parking!

By Exploration551577 |

Feb. 2016 Update - parking is now $5 and there isn't enough parking!! This beach had become easy too popular. Yesterday, I drove around the lot four times (on a weekday) and could not get a spot. All the streets are marked "no parking" outside the park.

Great Beach For Families With Small Kids

By Toni S |

Great park, very well kept up. Nice beach area. Water very shallow and great for small children. However, if you have older kids or teens, they will be disappointed as the water didn't get any higher than our ankles. No waves to play in or shoreline to walk. It was like a lake from Minnesota. We ended up going to Clearwater for a bigger beach. I will say there some cool crabs too look at at the Pine Island Park.

Great spot!

By CreativeK |

Went here while visiting family in spring hill. Amazing beach and views and water! the water on the gulf coast is so serene! there are no waves and you can sit in the water and relax. Lots of horseshoe crabs and flora and fauna.

Happy accidental find!

By Sandra K |

The best $5 we spent all year-clean sandy beach, crystal clear water, great playground for kids; plenty of sun, tress and shaded areas.

Beautiful Sunsets

By RovingRoadies |

We came to the park to view the sunset while visiting in the area. It is a wonderful place to do this. We also saw several dolphins while we were there. We did not use any of the amenities but this seemed to be a very nice clean park and there were lots of families there and people taking sunset photos. Be aware there is a $5 all day parking fee which we tried to pay using the automated machine, since no attendant was present, but the machine wouldn’t work. If we return to the area I would definitely come back to spend more time to picnic and watch another sunset.

Hey, it's basically the ONLY Hernando County public beach!

By Carrie P |

Small and man-made but fun especially for little kids. Super busy on the weekends so beware! Nice soft sand and not many shells (in case you were hoping to find treasures).

Beautiful sunsets

By Bigfoot208 |

went 2 nights in a row after 5pm admission is $2 for the car. saw great sunsets better than at Treasure Island. kinda tricky to find but well woth visit. park and beach were clean.

Great Beach

By Dan G |

What a wonderful beach lots of sand and shallow water to walk around in. They have a great snack bar as well.

Great little beach - ssshhh, don't tell anyone!

By thatannegirl |

We visit Pine Island regularly. It's a great place for picnics, fun in the sun, dolphin spotting, and watching the sunset. The water is shallow and calm, the facilities are great - lots of shelter and BBQs. We see dolphins every time and sometimes they come very close to shore.

Cannot Beat This One for a Beach Joint

By hardbottomfishing |

Great food, fair prices and super location on an island in the Gulf. Do lunch! Burgers are great, fries are good as well. It is rare to be at the beach and walk to a good place.... Enjoy!!

Great Relaxing Time - Clean Beach

By Rebecca G |

So, the water is pretty shallow at this beach. If you want waves, you wont find it here. What you will find is a sandy beach, lots of palm trees, covered picnic area, play ground, and a great little place to get a cold drink, snacks, or even a meal. The water is refreshing and a great place for curious minds to explore. There is a parking fee of $5. There are not beach chairs or umbrellas to rent, so bring your beach gear and expect to have a relaxing day.

Love this beach

By efoden |

Love it here we always see dolphins. It is a nice little park and so shallow for a long way out. Clea and tidy beach and got facilities for food and restrooms

Very easy parking and access to flat, sandy beach

By PacoToonces |

Not the powder sands of some Florida gulf beaches, but clean, flat, sandy, and sunny. Also, many picnic tables with shade cabanas.

Pine Island Beach

By MaryJane C |

The beach was small, but perfect. Sand was white, the water was beautiful, and the bottom of the water was very walk-able barefoot! The parking is awesome. there was a playground nearby as well as a restaurant. We had brought our own water and snacks, so we did not visit. Would recommend for everyone!

Good for little kids

By prospecthackett |

Tide was low and you couldn't swim. But it was nice wading through the water. We saw sting rays, crabs and ballyhoo. Nice picnic areas too

Little jewel

By Redvette69 |

We've been coming here since the '80's and have watched it grow from a primitive little point to what it is now. Larger, more stable, organized parking, adequate restrooms, a nice snack shop, It's very shallow, and goes an easy block before it starts fo fall off so it's great for kids. No life guards that I recall and I believe $5 for parking. Well maintained, and very family orientated.

Just beachy

By Doug G |

We've got to Pine Island a few times and enjoyed ourselves. No one will ever mistake it for Clearwater Beach but it's not bad for an area not known for beaches. It's nice that there's a rest room/changing area and small food stand (though it is a tad overpriced). Biggest drawback is the charge for parking.

Visiting

By psu3312 |

Nice clean beach..... Great sunsets..... Tiki food shack has good food a little pricey but beats going back into townhouse.... Shallow waters... Great for the little ones

Just a nice beach

By Rich R |

Nothing special. $5 parking. Man made beach. Moderately busy. Sunsets might be nice but it was overcast so we left early. Not sure we'd go back. Long drive to a remote beach that just wasn't really worth it.

Good for Sunsets

By George T |

Nice park in the Weeki Wachee area. It takes a bit of driving to get there but the view of the sunsets are great.
Unfortunately you must pay to access the beach

Great sunsets

By beachlover207 |

Pine Island is great for families with small children or if you are just looking for a place to watch a beautiful Gulf sunset. The water is very shallow so it's good for little ones.

Relaxing Beach Space

By Anne A |

What a lovely surprise to find this relaxing beach when I had a few hours to spare. Very clean. Plenty of sitting options in the shade (and out of the rain) during my visit. Nice having a changing room so I didn’t have to change in the bathroom. Great place to go and sit and watch people and children having fun.

Wonderful spot!

By chickychick35217 |

Took the grandson and stayed for a couple of hours. The water was chilly but the beach was very clean and quiet. My grandson absolutely loved the playground and ran from one end to the other on the pirate ship. It's a great park and paying $5 is a bargain. We did see a dolphin and the beach was full of a variety of birds but they didn't bother us. A must visit while in the area.

Beach days all week

By Troy L |

This beach was amazing! Dolphins every day around 3 or 4 PM. The area is clean and there is a nice place to get drinks. The beach is alcohol free. The hamburgers at the stand are really good to. There is only a place to rent chairs and no umbrellas if you need one. The swimming was also great and very clean water!

Lovely small beach on Gulf of Mexico

By monoceros1222 |

We left the Weeki Wachee mermaid show, hadn't been to the Gulf in quite a while. Took a look at map and saw Pine Island was only about 6 miles away. Just a small town park but right on the Gulf of Mexico with nice sand and decent facilities. Midweek in mid-December, wasn't crowded at all!

cute

By Verniamk |

it was a small park but cute and quiet good place to go and just hang out and enjoy the water and sun. we stumbled across it and yes would go back just to hang out. there is a place to eat but we didn't try it. and clean wasrooms

Spring Hill - Weeki Wachee, FL awesome beach to enjoy with the family.

By DJ R |

While vacationing in Weeki Wachee, Florida, our family visited this place 3 days out of our 7-day stay. It was just a leisurely 15-minute drive. Get there early in the morning because of limited parking which is only $5 a day. Restrooms, a concession stand, covered picnic tables, charcoal grills, play area for the kids with slides and swings. Great water and a place to fish. Lots of room for sunbathing. This is our 4th year going and always a super time.

Amazing

By Cindi S |

Beautiful beach with fishing area. Suggest you get there early by 10 am the place is packed. We got there at low tide and we're able to walk quite away out. Amazing to watch the tide come in. If you plan on staying for the day find a tree so you have some shade.

Cute park, nice beach

By Janna64 |

It's off the beaten track and very nice. We saw lots of fish and blue crabs in the water. That makes me think the water is clean and nice. It wasn't too busy today so that was nice also. I've been here a couple times and it is always nice. It's small and popular with families.

Dolphin Encounter

By Cyndi |

While swimming off the beach we were suddenly surrounded by a pod of about a dozen dolphins who were playing and having fun with themselves and us! It was surreal like a dolphin encounter with trained animals!

Much better than initial impression

By Grant W |

We had seen Pine Island on Tripadvisor and Google and it had been recommended to us.

It was a scenic drive to get their, but our initial views were mixed - there looked like some dubious folks on the beach and there was an underlying swampy smell. However it grew on us quickly and the folks were all very friendly, polite and helpful. The beach is small and very white and the water is shallow for about 100 yards in all directions, and as such very warm. Its great to go padding and look for crabs, although we also saw much bigger fish and some predators (not sure if it was a catfish or small shark), which was quite fascinating.

The beach being white and the water being close mean its very bright so do take your sunnies, and at weekends cover is hard to come by so take your own shade.

the beach BBQ's were in use by many large familly groups and the smells were delicious !

Shallow water great for kids

By Michelle L |

I am a beach person. That being said I like white sand, sea shells and clear water. This had white sand. The weather was beautiful but I was not impressed with the beach.

Shallow, not for swimming

By LittleSchmidts |

This would be great for families with toddlers as the water is very shallow for a long way. Tweens & teens that want to swim will be disappointed. There was also some seaweed in the swimming area which deterred my children from doing too much in the water. The beach was nice, large playground area, easily accessible bathroom & changing facilities.

A wonderful out of the way beach on the Nature Coast

By lynn34667 |

We love Pine Island! I should keep quiet and not tell you what a sweet little beach this is. It might be the best kept secret of Hernando County! It has lovely sand and a small concession stand with food and drink. This is the only beach on the Gulf of Mexico in Hernando County.

BEST Gulf Coast family beach

By Lazearopinion |

We visit FL to see family and each time we visit this park. This is the nicest small beach anywhere! White sand, you can see your feet in the bottom of the water, there's no alcohol permitted, the parking is only $5, the restaurant has good food(a little pricier) and CASH only for food.

Life's a Beach

By Brooke C |

This is by far my favorite beach around. It's not very large, but it wraps around like an "island" so there are many spots to chose from. My favorite is near the restrooms (which are impeccably Clean at all times) and near the food hut (which has Amazing food-especially the cheese fries ($4.50) and shrimp). Willys tropical breeze cafe is a little tiki style food hut which serves everything from ice cream (about $2) to burger meals ($10) Parking is $5 and that may seem like alot, but it definitely weeds out (for lack of better terms) people and they really do use the money to take care of the place, If your not there by 9:30-10 on a weekend you wont get a spot! The water is very shallow which is great for kids.I dont have to worry about my daughter getting swept away by waves while filling her sand bucket with water! You can stick your beach chair in the water and pretend your in Jamaica! This beach reminds me of the same beach in Montego bay we vacationed at. There are several pavilions with picnic tables scattered thoughout. My kids love the play area with slides and swings and the adults enjoy the sand volleyball. Very relaxing with all the palm trees and if your lucky you will see the dolphins jumping in the distance (we have several times). There is a showering stand with a few areas to clean your feet etc. The drive into the area is amazing...reminds me of Key west. Water on both sides with palm trees lining the street. Nice beach homes to look out before you get there.. Overall i love this place and will be looking forward to spending time here with my kids this summer!

Pine island

By Jedand F |

Parking was good 2.00 for the day which isn't bad at all. . Small food stand good prices but ice cream was pricey... very clean not to packed..

A fantastic family entertainment spot

By Richard W |

This is the only place in Hernando County that a family can enjoy a great beach.
Very clean and a great view

nice quiet beach

By Kathy C |

Pine Island Park was a nice surprise. The beach was comfortable. Plenty of tables, a very nice playground for children, and a snack hut if hungry. You are able to walk out very far in shallow water, which makes it perfect for children to play in the water.

Quaint and Relaxing

By 1966cindys |

Small and quaint beach. Safe for small ones, water is not very deep. Kids can play in water and on beach.

Beautiful beach

By Deronda L |

the beach is beautiful. White sand. Concrete pathway for handicapped. Brown waters. Water is too shallow and along way off shore.

No Dogs Allowed😟

By Diane B |

Would have been nice if the web site indicated this! Made a 40 Minute Drive to sadly discover it. Nice looking beach area.

Pleasant Clean Beach - great for families with little ones.

By Linda H |

Pleasant Clean Beach - Parking was $5 for the day. When tide is out, it is perfect for little ones because the water is very shallow with no shells or rocks to hurt feet. Quite a few people had nets trying to catch the small crabs that were in the shallows by the smooth rocks. They have clean bathrooms, covered areas to eat and bbq. There is also a food stand but we didn't check it out. There is a small play area for children but with the sun beating down, most of the equipment like the slides would be too hot to play on. We had a very pleasant time there and will definitely bring our grandson there when they visit.

A Little Wave Action

By TheBlondeGrape |

Small park that has people loading and unloading boats. I like the pier for fishing and a nice area to just come sit and read and listen to the waves break.

Wonderful place

By kman1130 |

Friends took us to the beach a d what a wonderful place, park for kids, low tide allows you to walk on beach and the water is not too deep so can enjoy the warm waters. Playground, and restrooms as well as parking.

Beach for locals, and tourists alike!

By FLworldwanderer |

First things first ... this is not a Clearwater or St. Petersburg beach. This beach is man made, with enough sand and permanent sitting areas for families to enjoy. Perfect place to take your young children by the hand, and wade out into the shallow waters. There is a snack bar nearby, to enjoy lunch. Often, you can find individual adults, enjoying the water, breeze, and a good book to read. During the summer season, there is a $5 parking fee. Give it a try, so you can make your own judgement.

By Laurie W |

Excellent, well maintained beach with a snack bar. Water is not too deep for the children and no waves crashing in...

Sunset

By Julie Z |

No dogs allowed. Our sunset view was marred by signs in the water. $5 parking. Otherwise an ok beach.

ANYONE KNOW IF IS OPEN AGAIN????WE COME IN JUNE 21ST,2024

By Sunshine560940 |

Always a lovely day at small beach ,warm sea, great cabin for snacks, meals, drinks, all good price for a beach where you have no choice but to pay their prices, staff all lovely, never issue on beach, shallow warm water, great for kids, dolphins come in close

great place if you have small kids

By Wendy L |

When we arrived at the park the lot was full, gate attendant (very friendly) said we could pull up and wait for a space, drive around outside and check back in a bit or check with home owners outside the gate to see if you could park, we found a space right out side the gate gave the homeowner our $5, if you walk in the gate no fee. Nice sheltered picnic areas with grills, big stretches of sandy beach, water is calm but vey shallow, great for young children, nice play ground for kids, snack bar available with a fairly large menu, averages prices, decent bathrooms, great for sunbathers. Nice way to spend an afternoon.

Great place

By bandguy54 |

This is the only beach in Hernando County, but it's a great little beach. I like to go there when I'm visiting my house in Spring Hill, Florida. Unfortunately, it has become some popular that often times there are no parking places available and you get turned away. Even when all the parking is full there is still adequate room on the beach. I wish they would find a way to make at least a few more parking places. The closest real beach to go to when this one is full is an hour away, so it's disappointing when you can't get in.

Great Beach

By Jennifer A |

A small hidden beach with beautiful views of the gulf! The water is shallow and you can walk out for awhile. Parking cost a couple bucks but well worth it. There is a playground, grills and covered shelters. Nice place to just sit and relax!

Lovely, quiet beach

By 92evelynt |

This is a nice, quiet beach to relax, sun and float. The water is not deep and there are no waves. Parking is $5 and gets crowded. Great beach for little kids (if quiet) . Lots of seniors on the beach.

Nice place, shame about the visitors!

By David |

We visited as we were holidaying in the area. A lovely place with good facilities. It was off putting though because there were some visitors who used their phones loudly and punctuated their conversations with endless swear words.

Day Trips

By cj61754 |

A nice clean well kept area. Not really for swimming. Heard there is wildlife danger at time. here is a small snack shack, shade, tables, and restrooms.

Lovely beach if you are lucky you see wild Dolphins

By OttawaHondagirl |

We have visited here twice, very nice beach area with a restaurant on the beach.First time we saw dolphins around 3.00 pm.Well kept area only $5 to park for the day .It was only 10 mins from where we were staying so a big plus .

Fantastic Beach!

By Debbie S |

It cost a few bucks to park, but so worth it. Once parking is full, no one can get in. There's volleyball. Fishing, a pair, a nice Sandy beach. Shelter houses. And the food is great. Try the fried Grouper sandwich & you'll be hooked. The swimming is separate from the fishing. There's a playground for the kids, something for all. You are on a little island, very private, & unlike other beaches, not crowed because of the parking limitations. You will get the best sunset pictures you've ever seen from here. It's my favorite place to take pics. If you're in the area, please take a drive West as far as it can go, and there's Pine Island, a very peaceful spot for everyone!

Beautiful beach

By Aeswyn |

We just spent a few hours paddling around in the slightly cooler than anticipated waters. Two dolphins played in the shallows, but quickly swam away as more folks became interested in them. I can imagine the beach would get very busy in the high season, but we got there on a relatively quiet day. There are good facilities, a café and plenty of parking. The beach is clean and litter free with picnicking and barbecue areas. Lovely!

A huge surprize for sunsets

By Mary J |

The hotel clerk recommends coming here for the sunsets. The grands loved the new playground and we all loved the spectacular sunset. It a photographers dream. Make a side trip just for the sunset.

Nice, small beach

By Maura L |

The sandy beach is on a peninsula that just out into the gulf with water on three sides. The parking lot is small—which limits the number of people. Nice for small children—there's a playground, clean restrooms and a snack bar. Perfect setting for a half day excursion!

Excellent

By Ana Maria P |

It’s a perfect place for who want to be relaxed. The water is clean. You have place to take a shower after beach. The restaurant is good.

Nice county park

By DK2RP |

Nice park. The beach is ok, the swimming area large. We swam, saw others boating and fishing. There are facilities and it is 10 minutes from US 19.

Simple, unique, uncrowded.

By SusanThorn |

I love to go here alone, parking is limited, so when it's full, it limits the amount of people. The water is shallow, so good for kids or non-swimmers. Covered bbq areas, and a decent cafe with outside seating. Waterside showers are convenient, they also have lockers available. No pets allowed though.

Nice little beach area

By Troy T |

Interesting little area. We brought our beach chairs and umbrella and just relaxed by the water for a few hours. Being a state park the bathrooms were clean and stocked and there is a place to get drinks and food if you desire, we did not. Also, a playground if you bring your children. Nice place to spend a couple of hours.

Great to view sunsets

By Carolyn I |

The water is very shallow for quite a distance and you won't find seashells here. There is a small playground and snack shack. It's a great place to watch the sun set.

Kinda...eww

By Aricha97 |

We were in the area and wanted to spend a few hours at a beach. The park is highly rated so we thought we'd check it out. Pretty small beach area, play ground and snack bar...but we came for the beach. There were cigarette butts everywhere we looked in the beach. The beach itself is small- around 15' between the sea wall and water in most spots and only several inches of trucked in sand over a dirt/clay base. $5 for all day parking. We won't be coming back.

Family Fun Waiting

By 2Celebrate |

Pine Island may not be a huge park; but, that is a major plus when you want to have a day of fun with your family. Beautifully kept up beach park that has so much to offer for everyone - large sandy beach area for sunning, covered tables with benches offering a grill at the end of each one, great playground area for the young ones, volleyball court, launching area for smaller water crafts, and the not-to-be missed cafe "Willy's Tropical Breeze." Find yourself a perfect spot, throw down a blanket, and get ready to have fun with your family. Be sure to arrive early to get a parking place. Many days, if you come after 11 - 12, you may have to turn around and try again another day, because the park will be full. Remember your manners before thinking about bothering the residents because you plan to beg, buy, or come up with some creative excuse trying to get them to let you park in their driveways (think about it, would you want to have people interrupting your day to relax wanting to park in your driveway?). Anyways, truly a wonderful place to have fun and make sure to stay or come back to see the sunset; they are not to be missed.

Sewage pipe

By Pam B |

Sewage pipe broke; swimming not recommended. Hopefully the water will be back to normal soon so people can get in it and have a good time.

Great for the Sesame Street crowd

By OrlandoFunGuy |

Was so surprised that this park with a swimming area has no swimming areas. Yes there is water (brackish with more fresh than salt water) but it is only 3-4 feet deep at its deepest. As a grown man, I was able to walk for a long time and the water never got as high as my swim trunks. I had to sit in the water to get wet. Yes people had fun looking for crabs, and we saw dolphins way out in the water, and there were some trees for some shade. But it was still, a little smelly, no waves, no salt air, no depth and tons of kids under 8 years. We thought it would be water and swimming north of Clearwater Beach, but it was more like a Kiddie pool.

Beach

By Will Beynon |

A reasonably small beach with very shallow water, which definitely suits young children, but I have never seen it overcrowded. Palm trees are scattered around the area, just a nice place to visit. There is a small car park fee but not pricey.

Small beach partk

By konacoco |

Nice Gulf of Mexico beach park. Calm water. Lots to do for the kids. Firm sidewalk/board walk for the older kids. Restrooms. Beach café. Cookout grills and shelters available to make a full day of it.

First visit to florida

By Rob |

I loved it here small playground for children. Lots of birds. clean and nice picnic pavillions. And small beach area. Concessions and bathrooms. Smaller area. Around $5.00 or so to park. Nice for kids.

Great place to watch the sunset and grab a bite to eat.

By Bob & Penny |

They keep their beach area clean and have lots of covered picnic table shelters with grills. They also have Willy's Tropical Breeze cooking up some delicious burgers and pork tenderloin sandwiches along with a lot of other items if you don't want to do the cooking yourself. Just be sure to check on the their hours before you plan on eating there. The kids will love their ice cream and the playground at the park.

Family friendly local beach

By Debra9414 |

A local place to enjoy the gulf w/o a long drive into Tampa, St Pete or Clearwater. Min waves and shells. Family oriented.

Beautiful

By Emma R |

We found this little gem after a visit to the Week Wachee springs where a local gave us the recommendation. We got here after a rain shower, so it was quiet and peaceful. We spotted fins in the sea and a local family explained that dolphins often swam in the bay and so we all sat in the warm waters a dolphins swam around us. Total bliss and another rick on my bucket list without the big price tag of some of the more famous dolphin attractions! I almost don't want to let others know it is there, but we had such an amazing afternoon that it is definitely worth a visit. Please treat ithis place and the animals in it with the respect they deserve and do not touch them. They will happily swim around you, if you let them be.

nice and clean, peaceful

By pgordu |

Nice and clean, peaceful. Shallow water not much of a beach for Floridian standards but the place is not much of a tourist attraction anyway. Lots of marshland it is ideal for a kayak or canoe trip in my opinion.

A hidden treasure

By juroek |

An absolutely beautiful beach in the golf! Even the drive to get to it was enjoyable. I spent 2 days at this spot-worth the 1/2 hour to get to! Beaches were very clean. I even got to see 2 dolphins, what a treat! I highly recommend this spot! Worth the $5 parking fee!

Sunsets!!!!

By Tim D |

We have watched many a sunset at Pine Island, often going far out of our way just to see it. The shallow water makes this a great place for children and usually isn't terribly crowded. Not much of a beach, but nice wading anyway.

The most beautiful sunsets in Florida

By gorsky71 |

We have had the opportunity to visit Pine Island in Spring Hill a number of times. Towards sunset many people flock to the island to wait and watch for the sun to set. We were also there to see a wedding take place.---Extremely beautiful, well kept, and it even has a snack bar. SUPER EXCELLENT

Relaxing

By Cherie J |

Pine Island is a hidden gem! We were visiting from upstate NY and found this place when browsing the internet. Beautiful scenery and very relaxing, although I am sure it is busy during the summer months.

Grandchildren Love This Park!

By Mike L |

My grandchildren just absolutely love this park, it’s perfect for younger children. This time we were entertained by a group of dolphins! The swings, jungle gym is a nice break from the water also. There is a small fee of $5 per car for the day, where can you go for $5 and have this type of enjoyment.

Small but clean beach

By shelley s |

This is a pretty park, but its compact. There are a few palm trees, some boardwalk restaurants, and some equipment rental places. It costs $3 to park.

Relaxing atmosphere

By Karen M |

A friend told me about this small yet relaxing beach area not that far from home so today we went... Smaller then most yet very relaxing. Plus they offer covered shelter with bbq grills by each, public restrooms and outdoor shower areas. They also have a snack concession stand with hotdogs, sausage and fries. The water is very shallow you could walk a mile and still only be waste deep, but very pleasant and also has a kids playground. I liked it... Parking is 5$ for the day...

Cold Day

By Cathy V |

Had been here 5 years ago, came back and brought my husband. Love this place. The tide was out this time so looked totally different from 5 years ago. It was cold and windy but still loved the view.

Nice place to watch birds and the water

By Yessyhara |

Nice little park with a small, sandy beach. Lots of birds, some space to picnic and play in the sand. Not worth planning a major trip to visit but nice for a short stop.

Peaceful Beach

By Micaya777 |

It is best to get there early to truly enjoy the peace and quiet out here. Unfortunately closed often due to bacteria in the water.

Not Picturesque, Depends on Tide, Great for Toddlers

By Tara B |

We picked this beach because many of the reviews said it was good for toddlers/families and it wasn't super crowded (lack of parking helps with that).

To begin with, this beach is not your typical post card beach. If that's what you've got in mind, you will be disappointed. There also is a shortage of parking, but it keeps the crowds manageable. We arrived at 10am and got one of the last spots. There's a nice playground, but no shade over it, so it gets hot. There's also a few pavilions, volleyball areas and grills. One side of the beach has palms for shade, the other does not. It's worth it to scope out the area before settling down.

When the tide is out, you can walk out super far and it is knee deep at most. This is great if you have toddlers. We saw many parents who just let their kids go and kinda followed along. So nice not to have to worry that much. The sand is more brown with clay and the low tide attracts groups of birth who leave quite a mess. We were able to mostly avoid it. The birds were attracted to all the crabs that were easily visible with low tide. Our toddler got a bit scared after she noticed them, so maybe avoid pointing them out like we did. Unless of course they're used to that stuff, then it's really cool.

We left and then came back at about 4pm. Parking was opening up again and the tide was in. The water was deeper, but due to having our toddler, we didn't venture out far, so not sure how deep it gets. The tide was pretty gentle when we were there too; more like a lake.

Bathrooms were a bit gross in the afternoon, but that's what you get with wet bodies and toilet paper. Just be sure to wear shoes.

Overall, if you're gonna be in the area, it's a nice place to stop. We probably wouldn't drive down from GA again though for the sole purpose of visiting this beach. On the way through to somewhere else though, sure.

Its a gem!

By melba r |

What a great place to relax by the water, Nothing but the water as far as you can see.A great playground, clean restrooms and nice sand on the beach. What a fantastic place to spend the day.

Not pet friendly

By erfiegel |

Very misleading advertising. No pets are allowed and we drove an hour here. Very disappointing, no dog parks nearby

Average

By nikolemiddleton |

It's ok. A small beach with A snack bar and playground. I would be a good place to go with kids. Parking is $5 for a car

A nice place for a restful day at the beach (I believe the weekend might be crowded).

By Sebastian222 |

A nice quiet state park. The beach is clean. You can swim there. A fee is charged for parking. There is a quick food restaurant.

Young Children need to be aware.

By Kristan T |

Pine Island is a very good "beach". The water is nice, clear, and clean. Not a good place for young children, there are many horse shoe crabs, stingrays, and huge crabs. It's a nice beach, from my experience from living in Weeki Wachee all my life. It's affordable, nice, lovely café, a little pricey but manageable.

Super great beach for family

By Jean V |

Love this beach .Easy to find and easy to park. Great beach and the water is not deep for a long way. Dolphins come by every afternoon at 3 pm...food available to buy. Just ani e place for fun with the whole family. Get there early, park ing $5.00 for the day..

Sunset and crabs

By Vi S |

This seems like a dream. I loved it. A beautiful sunset. Little crabs hiding everywhere. Ability to walk out into the gulf. The best pictures we have ever taken as a family.

Cute little beach

By Danette N |

We've been here several times now and love it!! It's small but perfect for a little beach day not far from home. Each time we've visited we've been lucky enough to see pods of dolphins swimming close to us.

Very tranquil area

By 332tedd |

Weeke Wachee was a very nice area, slower pace very nice beach we would go back. Restaurants were fairly easy to get into. You may be had to wait a little bit but not like going to the Saint Pete’s area.

Best Beach in the area

By Marc R |

A short drive from Bushnell, through Brooksville, lies one of the best beaches in Central Florida.

Clean, a nice kiddie park, clean restrooms and a small restaurant.

A nice white sand beach with a short retaining wall at the high tide mark. You can swim, walk, look for shells and even fish. We saw tons of fish jumping as the tide was rolling in.

Lots of parking. No pets. $2 parking fee. Great place to spend the day and watch the sunset...

Only Game In Town

By RickTickCanton_NY |

only sand beach choice in area; small beach area but ok; fee for parking here; concession stands available; good for young families

Calm, relaxing place to chill

By Debbie S |

This beach is always kept clean. The little food stand they have there is very nice. They also have grills with tables that are also very clean. Nice little playground if you have kids. Excellent place to watch the sunset

Awful beach with inexplicable parking fee

By Mikegrif |

This is a small, dirty beach with a small parking lot that demands $5 to park. Not a much of a beach to speak of, no view at all, dirty water, and questionable crowd. It is far better to drive south to get to a real beach.

Always nice when High Tide

By Sam Boebert |

Good place to go to get away for a few hours... Just make sure you go when it is high tide. Not a large beach but still the beach!

Beautiful little community park

By DHerrin |

Love all the ammenities at this wonderful little community park. We go often to sit on the beach, enjoy the day and always plan to have lunch or a snack at the snack bar

Awesome beach

By Blancolo |

Nearest real beach to WEEKI Wachee. Downside is having to pay for the car park . Plus side is the white sand and clear waters of the gulf. Handy snack shack there serving dogs ices and beers .

Fun beach day

By Capephotobug |

I took my 4 year old grandson here. It was great, the water is not rough or deep perfect for little children. Also they have a pirate ship playground that is good for younger and older children. They have bathroom, outdoor showers to since off and a neat little snack bar. The Orange Icey was a perfect drink after playing all day. It cost $5. a caseload and well worth the money!

Nice hidden beach park

By Hiltin |

My husband and I visited the park after seeing a picture of it on the news. We had never been to Weeki Wachi and thought we would explore the park. It was a beautiful but very hot day. We packed a picnic lunch which we enjoyed under a very spacious and clean gazebo with picnic tables and plenty of trash cans. Despite the heat, the gazebo was comfortable and we felt the breezes off of the water which was approximately 50 feet from our table. The beach was full of people sitting on the shore and many snorkeling or wading in the shallow water. There is an on site restaurant, which was busy, as well as parking next to the restaurant, beach, gazebo and children's playground. Overall it was a very nice experience and I would recommend it if one is in the area. Parking is five dollars and the lot is on the smaller side.

Best Beach I've been to in Florida

By DDD-FL |

Living east of Orlando, I generally frequent the beaches on the Atlantic side. This was one of the first times I've been truly impressed with the water and ocean quality of the Gulf Coast. It was extremely clear, and an abundance of fish and crabs could be seen next to you while you were in the water. Really enjoyed our time at Pine Island.

Fun afternoon

By vicky e |

Nice beach, $5 to get in. We went on a weekday and had no trouble parking. Covered pavilions, picnic tables and grills for cooking.

Would be nicer if people didn't think it fun to throw food to sea gulls as it makes them swoop down when you are cooking as they then think everyone will feed them. They were disappointed with us....

Water was warm and shallow. We walked out a little further and although it was still only knee deep we saw stingrays that we must have disturbed when we were wading, so they are out there - just do the shuffle. A nice way to spend an afternoon.

Our beautiful piece of paradise here in Weeki Wachee.

By kmomalex |

We have been here for 3 years and this is my perfect to go place. If you want shade there are tiki pavillions or palm tree. If you want food there is a great food shack with great food and reasonable prices. It has pristine sand and is clean and well maintained. Give it a try you will love. Just s little off the beaten path but well worth the ride.

Shallow water

By iheartadam |

We spent about an hour here as a way to relax after kayaking. It was $5 to park. The ocean is extremely shallow and no waves. This is a great beach for small kids. They have a concession stand too.

Nice Park

By bjn1257 |

This is a small park with a family atmosphere - there are a few pavilions and and area to purchase food. The park is limited by a small parking are - the positive is that this keeps the park from being overcrowded.

Nice and Relaxing by the Water

By Tyrone D |

The weather was awesome the day after Thanksgiving so we decided to spend some time at the beach. We watched dolphins playing around. There is a snack bar there if you get hungry along with clean bathrooms. It's not deep water which is good for little children. The sand is white and fine. Nice place, great time.

Great Beach area

By Ian W |

Pine island is the beach area associated with Weeki Wache Spings, it is a lovely beach area forvenjoying the abuntant Florida sunshine. It has a lovely cafe and park area for young children.

Mr. & Mrs. B.

By wjjl83 |

Absolutely beautiful- very private. My husband and I went to enjoy the sunset- romantic place to spend the evening. The beach is open until 9:00 p.m.

Great to splash around and watch the sunset

By Ginny C |

One of the very few beaches in the area, a very nice location with shallow water perfect for kids . It has very nice facilities picnic benchs and grills, clean resturants and food concessions.

Great place to hang out and watch the sunset, hard to find parking
and get in during peak season.

Pine Island Park

By laa23 |

I live in Spring Hill, FL and sometimes visit at sunset. During a warm day is a different story. It's so very small and not nearly enough parking. Very disappointing. :(

Beautiful Little Beach

By Michelle R |

Small and quiet beach area with all you need to enjoy some time but not at all tourist-y. The tide is very shallow and great for just paddling, restrooms, showers, BBQ areas with shaded areas out of the sun. There is a small park and also a place to eat. $5 a day for parking which I didn't begrudge at all as the area is so well kept. We were lucky enough to experience some wild dolphin who came is as close as 4ft away playing in the shallows and hunting the fish. Gorgeous area, so pleased it's not been ruined with "too much". Loved it.

Nice to see the sunset

By Jabggb |

Real nice place to sit and relax to see the sunset, nice park. It has nice sand for the kids to play in and a small area to walk.

Should be called Palm Island

By CharlesOwen84 |

I made a recent trip out to Pine Island to see what the only beach in Hernando County is like. Also a fair warning, there is no beach in Hernando Beach, it's just a community with a misleading name. I've been asked about this "Hernando Beach "beach" and I want to clarify; Pine Island is the only beach in Hernando County! Anyway I'm more of a fresh water guy so hence the reason for the 4 stars. Also if you're a beach person this pales in comparison to Clearwater Beach which all the youth rave about. Also the name is kind of stupid, there are literally no Pine trees on the whole island as it is nothing more than palm trees everywhere less a scrub oak here and there. A fair warning, Willy's Tropical Breeze (diner at Pine Island) is expensive! Like $3.50 for a plain hot dog, I doubt it's even all beef. Serious busting heads out there with the food prices but I guess you pay for the remoteness of it. The drummers show up every other Sunday to bang out the island beats while some gypsy-esque ladies do a dance with fabric. Pretty cool to say the least, pretty cool.

Not bad

By slidermuzz |

I came here with a buddy and it’s quite relaxing. It was not crowded so I liked that. Parking is $5 but it’s fine. We spent a couple hours here, it’s a nice place to get away. We saw places to rent kayaks also.

Slice of heaven!

By P1939ITcristinad |

This is a beautiful little island of a beach. STUNNING sunsets. We were literally 25 feet away from dolphins playing one time that we went. Gorgeous sand and palm trees. Perfect place for a wedding, if they allow them. Also a dogpark on some weekend mornings for a fee.

Pine Island

white sandy beach on the gulf of Mexico--arrive early limit parking, this is Florida State Park cost three dollars to park--if you have a handi-cap sticker you park free

Grandson's Wedding

By Joseph K |

This is a very nice park/beach that is located right on the Gulf of Mexico.
It is well maintained and a beautiful location for watching Sunsets.

Great for families with small children!

By jforgie2 |

It was so nice to be able to take my four-year-old daughter to the beach and not have to worry about her being swept out to sea. The water ranged between my calves and the top of my knee. She had a great time being able to have some freedom. I was able to sit in a chair at the edge of the water and watch her and feel safe. There is a playground, a pavilion and a restaurant/concession stand. There was a five dollar entrance fee. It's a very small park so you really want to get there early. It's not a place I would recommend to go to hang out with friends. It really caters towards families with small children. The concession stand was out of most of the ice cream choices. We ended up going to Wawa on the way out for smoothies.

Love this beach

By MARS |

Great beach...food hut was well priced for great taste. Water is clear and salty. Lots of fish to view.

A few of hours at Pine Island

By Carol A |

It seemed like a nice beach. Liked the warm water. seems peaceful. Bathrooms for the most part were pretty clean. Don't like having to pay $5 every time visited or that you have to swim at your own risk.
I wasn't there when water slide was there, but I think there shouldn't be a charge to use it.
Also worried about this flesh eating disease in the gulf waters. Which is a shame for all beaches in Florida. So......I won't be going to this beach or others in Florida for a very long time.

WOW ~

By Frank W |

VERY stunning lace to take the fami for a picnic and a walk into the Gulf. Very clean and lots of pic opportunities. There is also a food shack, however, it was open when I got there. Only $5 entrance fee, not sure if they offer a disabled discount.

Great beach for swimming, snorkeling, seeing sea life

By NAMAHM |

We've always found warm waters, plenty to see in the Gulf waters, including fish, rays, dolphin, and more. Snorkeling is a great option too in the channels. It's $5 per auto to come in and if you leave you pay to come back in. There is a food shack to purchase from, bathrooms, outside showers and playground equipment.

we go to watch the sunset

By amma71 |

a million dollar sunsets most of the time. Nature at its best. we have seen dolphins many times. slides, swings for the kids: shelters for people to sit / have picnics or just idle.

Quiet relaxing beach

By Joyce K |

Quiet relaxing small beach. Shallow clear water. Shower and dressing rooms clean. Not crowded a Saturday. Saw needlefish and other small fish.

Nice afternoon stroll

By Phuku P |

Peaceful place for a walk has informative signs placed around. Boat ramps also in area so plenty of action if you like to people watch.

A little gem!

By Anne K |

Finding Pine Island was the highlight of my trip! This beach is clean and beautiful. I love that it has palm trees on the beach too. The on-site food place called, Willys Tropical Breeze had the best coconut shrimp. The only downside is that I live 1,200 miles away!

Beach, picnic tables, sunset view!

By CarolinaTravelers2 |

Our hotel staff recommended that we go to Pine Island to watch the sunset, and we were not disappointed. Arriving well before sunset, we watched families on the beach and in the shallow water, groups at picnic tables under shelters, people of all ages and ethnicities enjoying the evening, and we had a glimpse of dolphins swimming past the observation platform. Because we arrived late in the day, there was no parking fee.

Small beach but nice facilities for family outings

By Bradley K |

The beach is small, by Florida Standards. But great if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the large beaches. Nice place to spend some time for getting back to nature

Beautiful white sand beach!

By Jennifer P |

Had a fabulous time! Beautiful white sand beach. Water was shallow quite far out. Very clean! Get there early to get a parking spot. We arrived around 12pm and almost did not get into the beach.

Dolphins!!!

By Donna S |

Not your typical beach with waves and deeper water. You. An walk out very far and only be waist deep. Water was clear and wonderful. And the best part was the dolphins we saw swimming by. Three groups! They were beautiful!!! Highly recommend for a lazy afternoon!!

Great little beach and friendly staff.

By h00snels0n |

We stopped by the park for lunch. The food was very tasty considering it is a little vendor by the beach. We had a delightful time. We would go back if we had more time.

Great place for little ones at LowTide

By Bradley P |

Checked out this place about a month ago (August). Easy access and a little remote. It was about $5.00 for the day to park but you park close to the beach. At low tide the ager is only a few feet deep and very warm in Aug. There is a small viewing dock and a decent size beech. Restrooms were clean and the little snack shack had a variety of ice cream/natcho/hotdogs and such. It had rained A LOT the last few days so the water had become "tinted" and not so clear. WE saw a couple Dolphins come in very close. The sunset was spectacular and well worth the trip! Next time we're on the west side we'll come back for sure.

Lovely little hidden gem !

By rosieflum |

We loved this beach ! It's absolutely perfect for kids. We are from Tallahassee and we have been to many beaches. I can't think of one as kid friendly .The water is pretty shallow for a ways out. It was so nice to see such diversity in all that visitors. It really is a place for everyone ! I highly reccomend visiting Willy's Tropical Breeze Cafe that is right inside the park. There is areas for grilling, a volley ball court and nice play ground .We really loved that is was such a small beach and small park. Definately get there early to get your spot. Parking is limited and entry is limited !Once the parking is full they on let a car in when one leaves.

Beautiful Beach

By AdeleH444 |

The water was always shallow. You could walk out so far and the water was too shallow to swim After hurricane Ian it's now swimmable. Beautiful and Must place to go

Fun beach and great water!!

By Travelin M |

This is an awesome beach for families. During low tide the water is shallow and never got above the knees. When the tide came in water was chest deep and great for kids to snorkel. The snack shack was good with a variety of foods and ice cream. Very clean place.

Nice to visit!!

By seagal63 |

Wanted some time outside so chose Pine Island Park. First time to visit. See the webcam all the time on Bay News 9 !! It was nice to walk along the shore as the tide was out that day. Great place to sit and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Has a play area for children and a nice snack bar. However, it is not the kind of beach you would want to plan to build sandcastles or play in the sand, not very pretty sand.

Nice little park

By awaywegoto |

There is a small shack to grab a drink-Pine island willys' a playground and a few pavillion/covered areas. It is a unique area where the gulf and the river are meeting. Lots of shelling at low tide and other things revealed. You can walk way out at low tide. We visited to get a feel for the place but didn't have time to stay longer.

Nice because if you're in the area

By ShaFlorida |

It's a nice, shallow area. I'm not sure if that's usual or not. My 2 year old was able to walk out all the way to the "No swimming beyond this point" sign because it was so shallow. It was also weird there were no waves. My kids enjoyed using their snorkels to look at fish and a crab under the water. It also has a nice, small playground and covered picnic tables.

Relaxing Visit

By jkhadley8236 |

This is a small, quiet beach. It was relaxing just to sit at one of the pavilions. This would be a nice place for a picnic. If you get in the water, you need to watch that you do not slip or get cut on the bottom of your foot. Saw this happen to one person.

Super park

By Becky |

This park was awesome. The beach was nice and clean. It wasn’t too crowded. There were nice picnic shelters and a cool restaurant/snack bar. The showers and changing area were convenient. We had fun on the beach volleyball court and playground. I highly recommend it!

Great location.

By Ray M |

What a refreshing place to drive to for the day, or less, to sit and enjoy the clean beach, or just the Gulf view. The entrance fee ($5.00) is well worth it. There are several areas offering beach access, covered shelters with picnic tables & BBQ stands, Rest Rooms, a small Burger & sandwich place. Although the park is relatively small, it appears to be weel managed and maintained. Best of all it was fairly quiet making our time there more enjoyable. There is a fishing area however, it was on the canal and not used while we were at the park. The parking is limited but well managed by the staff. I highly recommend a visit for the day of swimming, sunbathing, or just relaxing. I hope you find this review helpful in making your next travel plans.

Watch tide tables...

By Jim E |

Chose Pine Island Park due to the red tide along the beaches south of Tampa; didn't know the tide would effect the beach as much as it did. We arrived just as the tide was coming back in. Beach is pretty much a hard pack sand when tide is out. You can walk out to the "No Swimming Beyond This Point" signs and only be in water about knee deep. Did see some hermit crabs. Tide came back in and filled the area back up nicely. Great park for children as the water is quite shallow and they can have a great time playing in it. There is also a very nice playground with lots of things to climb on and over. There are restroom facilities on site as well as a place to get food. There was a wedding taking place on the beach the day we were there. Nice spot but don't go expecting to find any shells.

Awful

By Nina F |

First of all unless you arrive there early in the morning you are not going to get in for the lack of parking. January 1st we went there around noon, waited in line to get in for 30 min. and then rite at the gate the man told us that the park is full and we have to come back in 30 min. to check. Keep in mind the line of 20 or more cars behind us, so we had to give our space in line and come back... It happened to us 2-3 times prior to January 1st, when we could not get in. At this point, I said never again we are going to that frog pond. That brings us to the second downfall of that place. At high tide at the deepest spot you are lucky if you get in a water up to you waist, at low tide all it is you will get in up to you knees. Overcrowded, lack of parking, absence of swim-able depths-all that makes that place a no go for us. If I have to wake up early, I might as well drive to Honey Moon Island and enjoy the real beach.

Not a beach for adults but good for kids... lots of sand blowing in our faces.

By Lovin' Life |

We knew there are no beaches in this area of Florida, but just wanted to sit near some water and chill for a few hours. When we got there, the parking lot had just reopened after being full. There's a $5 fee to park. There is a playground for the kids, a snack bar, which has lots of food variety, covered benches to picnic, and a small beach area with shallow water. We sat on some beach towels on the sand, and the wind was so bad that we had sand in our eyes, ears and hair. We're not sure if it's always this windy, but we threw in the "towel" after an hour or so. You can't walk the beach as it isn't really a beach. But if you just want to be near water and maybe hang out for an hour or two, this fits the bill. If you have small kids, they probably with enjoy it there.

Pleasant Place to Spend an Evening

By Samantha S |

Pine Island is a nice little park to spend an evening at the beach. I think it's $5 if you go earlier in the day, but we went it was $2 to park. There are pavillions, a playground, a snack hut, a boardwalk sort of thing, and lots and sandy beach. We went the tide was out and it was fun to walk waaaaay out into the water and see all the neat things that you usually can't. The water isn't the best quality (think lake or river rather than clear blue ocean water), but it was refreshing to dip in. I'd definitely go back for a picnic or something.

Horrible Experience

By Williamewing |

Great time if you enjoy laying on beach towel inches away from other peoples beach towels.Everyone packed on the beach like sardines. The park allows a certain number of cars but they don't take into consideration that every one of those cars has at least five people in them.

It would be better if it weren't for all the smokers.

By JULIA K |

We drive here occasionally to watch the sunset but we rarely get out of our car to linger because there are so many people and most of them are smokers. Cigarette smoke does not agree with me, but I think I'm in the minority. There are also a large congregation of skimmers and terns (birds) that would probably like to warm up on the sand before the Sun goes down, but everyone chases them like a game, stirring them up and making dozens and dozens of them fly/poop everywhere. It bugs. The water has been closed in the past for a high fecal content, so... I would not swim here, ever.

uncongested Florida Gulf beach gem

By Jerry P |

If you're looking for a Florida Gulf beach destination that has all the basics, but lacks the
big city congestion and crowds, Pine Island Park near Weeki Wachee is the place to go.
Great beach with shallow water and playground for families with small children. Enjoy your
own picnic lunch at several picnic tables with shelters, or buy simple food items at the theme
diner. Yes, parking is limited, but that tends to keep the crowd size down. If you are in the area,
this is a great place to enjoy the gulf and some of the best sunsets Florida has to offer.

So very nice!

By Wanda B |

I took my daughter here a few weeks ago for her very first beach/ocean experience, and it was exactly what we both needed. Clean, large enough that we did not feel at all crowded, and picturesque! She was smiling ear-to-ear the entire time. I'm actually planning on making the 1165 mile drive back, for Christmas!

limited

By CHKMT1996 |

This is a very clean park. The water was warm and shallow, great for yoinger kids, butwe all had a good time. Limited parking so you may have to wait for someone to leave before you get a parkong spot,

Very Kid Friendly

By MilitaryMama4 |

Try and go when the tide is going out, the horseshoe crab and dolphins are everywhere. Has a great play area. Parking is limited so go early.

Lovely beach

By Karen K |

We drove there two weeks ago from Clermont Fla. Was very surprised to see how clean the beach is. Nice picnic areas and great for children no big crashing waves. very nice beach to have a picnic or Barb.B Q on one of there grills on the beach. They do have a snack bar if you want to purchase food or drinks. The restrooms were clean and also had showers. Great place for a little get a way.

What a stunning place...

By Mytallman |

Arrived around 9 on a perfect Wednesday morning after a relaxing drive... A few cars in the parking lot... Paid $5 for a whole day parking... Bargain... Went down to the waters edge and did our 19old month had a ball in the shallow water... Played around for about an hour and then went off to the playground in the middle of the parking lot... Every place is very neat and tidy... In the next hour or so the parking lot filled up rapidly... There is a tuck shop (only cash) and clean bathrooms... You can BBQ and have a wonderful picnic under shelters or on the beach... Wonderful views.. This will become a sure stop on our next visits... Stunning place

Fun Beach for the Family

By Jim A |

We had a small child and 4 teenagers with us, and it was really fun for the little one, who could go out far into the water safely. There was a food stand there, with a good variety of lunch and snack foods. A nice beach area and picnic tables.

Great place to visit!

By Sherri9360 |

What a great place to spend the day relaxing! Love the atmosphere and the peace! This is a must if you are in the area.

Great little beach

By Grant D |

This is a great little beach good for walking or sunning. Clean restrooms, grills and picnic shelters, and a small snack bar. The only negative is limited parking and once it is full the gate is closed so you better plan on getting there before noon.
Parking is $5 for the day.

Fun time and not too many people

By Pck1611 |

We go to Pine Island Park beach about every day we are in the area. The water is typically really calm and shallow. Great place to bring small kids. The food at the concession is a little expensive and only ok tasting. But, the beach is worth it.

Great for Kids

By Amanda L |

This is a great place to take little ones to. It is $5 to park during peak season but worth it. They have a cantina where you can get something to eat but you can also bring some charcoal and BBQ for your group. You can walk out quite a ways and the water will still only be up to your knees and no waves. Having little ones it makes it nice because you can just sit in the water and enjoy. We have seen a small hammer head here before in winter months because they feed on the crabs. They also have volleyball nets and play equipment for the children.

Water Slide at Pine Island

By Tspaz82 |

To be CLEAR..... I was one of the water slide vendors. We PAID for the use of water that trickled on the slide to keep it wet. The 11.00 was for an all day wrist band there were other options. We had no control over the fencing that was the county. Our intention as a business was to bring fun to the beach....affordable fun and do something different. We had tons of positive feedback and, continue to receive emails and calls wondering why we are no longee there. Sometimes things just arnt worth the headache. To leave such a review without facts isnt fair to the people looking here for reviews on the beach. Your opinion is fine but dont state facts when you dont have any.

Great swimming!

By Pam T |

You need to go early and pay to park, but it's a great place for fun and food! There is also a play area there for younger children, and they seem to really enjoy it!

SUNSETS AT PINE ISLAND

By wmoffjr |

Nice little beach for a quick family outing, play ground for the kids, and picnic areas for small or large groups Great Place for SUNSETS!!

Nice

By Cameron S |

Fairly clean not to over crowded during the week and the morning. Tide was way out so the water was not deep at all. Would,be,a great place for kids. Didn't try the food, but looked and smelled great. Get here early because it will full up quickly. I wish smoking was not allowed at beached at all is my only complaint.

Lovely safe beach

By Robert Y |

At the end of the road out between pine trees and houses on stilts this small beach has all you need for a day at the beach . Plenty for the children to do pavilions with benches for picnics a beach cafe and restrooms. A bit of the main drag but worth the effort.

Love this place

By Tasha W |

We love this place we come here all the time. Highly recommend for any and everyone very nice place. My teenage children ask to go daily

Site seeing

By 492georgej |

A pleasant drive for site seeing and education also, You can fish from the dock or launch your boat/canoe/kayak and enjoy the gulf or marsh

Nice beach for a sunset stop

By Cynthia in Florida |

We wanted to stop at Clearwater on our way north but it was so crazy crowded that we passed on by and started looking for other beach options. This place is worth the extra half hour over and back if you are in the area! They have a small parking fee, but decent parking options, bathroom, sandy areas, picnic tables (some covered), a station to wash off sand, and accessible paths to get you nearer the water if interested. The water was pretty shallow when we visited, and the sunset was awesome. Their snack bar had a good variety of our favorite junk foods. We went with their custom-made potato chips. Really tasty if you like such things. We also ordered a grape and a cherry slush puppy. My only complaint was that the slush puppy tasted salty. Not sure if it is their water or the cups take on the tang? No huge issue, but worth noting if you are looking for a sweet drink. Can recommend stopping over to this beach if the weather is nicer on the gulf side. We will be back.

Weekend getaway

By robin d |

Very clean, spacious park, surrounded by water on three sides. Not much shade. A few covered pavilions with picnic tables and grills. Great playground. Easy water access/beach. Concession stand, with shaded picnic tables, looks very new and clean. Outdoor showers. Great place for outdoor beach wedding ceremony. Romantic sunset.

Beautiful beach and well maintained location

By Maria F |

This park is well organized with parking, beach area, picnic area and fishing area. There are also some food kiosks for those who don't want to bring a picnic. We visited when it was too cool for the beach to be full of people but it was still a beautiful place to visit and wander around. Not sure when the kiosks are open as there were no signs indicating times. Some people may complain that they have to pay for parking but it is a small price to pay for a well maintained park. Great place to take kids.

Best Place for Sunset Views in Hernando County (TripAdvisor Take Notice!)

By Rose333 |

It's a really nice beach, fresh water on one side, salty on the other, there are almost ALWAYS DOLPHINS HERE, fishing I guess? The water is usually very nice and warm because it's very shallow around the island.

I took one star away because THE STATE NEEDS TO BUY SOME OF THE EMPTY LOTS ON THE ISLAND AND BUILD MORE PARKING!!!

Shallow beach

By Robert C |

It's a good park for kids. They have a nice concession stand and the park is clean. You must pay admission which is strange for a county park, but Hernando county charges for most parks.

nice little beach

By HARRY P |

It's a bit of a drive to get there but it's very scenic. The beach and park itself are small but beautiful with a great view. They have a nice little play area for the kids.
It's only $5 a car to park so very cheap family outing.

Fairly quiet beach area

By Brady M |

Made the drive up to pine island park. For the most part it was a family spot. Large beach area and picnic areas are available. Parking is $5.

There is also a small snack bar that sells a variety of food options.

During the week prior to the March break was much more enjoyable then during the break. Couple rowdy folks showed up on the weekend...

Saw many small groups of dolphins swimming just off the shore as well.

Great for those of us who despise large crowds!

By imatreke2 |

My fav relaxing spot! You need to look at tides before going though.. low tide there is no water and high tide it can get over the wall some times, big difference. I love snorkeling here, lots of life. The dolphins come in daily and on occasion the manatees as well.. I have had the most amazing days here! ♥

Nice white sandy beach, clean gulf water.

By Keith F |

Word of mouth sent us here as we were having some difficulty finding a beach setting in this part of the Florida coastline. Pleasantly surprised to find this little gem of a beach. We are retired, so we went on a weekday. Small crowd made the visit very casual and comfortable. We visited Clearwater and Tampa beaches which we found to be only average. Plus they were an hour and a half ride. We have been back to Pine Island because we simply like it there, and it is not at far away as the Tampa area beaches.

Great little Beach

By Julie V |

I used to live near here, and we always come back and visit. It can get very full quickly, so come early for parking. There is almost always some sort of sea life to see here, dolphins one day, jellyfish the next, stingrays another... yes, we've even seen small sharks. The small food shack has excellent food, but cash only. There are a few covered picnic BBQ areas also, but they get claimed fast, so get up early to get one. The sand is soft in some areas for sand castle building, and hard in others. There is also a big playground for kids. Very family friendly.

It was a small, pretty beach.

By Megan N |

We got to swim with some wild dolphins and a turtle!!! It got crowed after lunch but the morning was great. Parking was $5 for the day and there were plenty of spots around the park if you arrive early.

Cute

By BeckyH55 |

It’s s A nice place. Really clean bathrooms! Nice sandy beach area. Lots of picnic tables with shelters. No shells. Big playground area for kids of all sizes!

Nice small beach with calm shallow water

By Carrie K |

Nice small little beach. $5 entry. Cute playground. Nice little cafe with some good eats! Calm warm water. Very shallow though so the older kids might not like it. No waves. Good for snorkeling. Bring a raft and float around.

Fake Beach

By Kate C |

Ok so I didn't do any read up on this place before I went, I know, my bad. Anyway, I get there and pay maybe 5$ for several hours parking. I walk out...and am completely underwhelmed. This is a man made beach. I walked into the water, I cant really tell you how far but it was a little ways, and the level never changed. The water feels warm and stagnant. The "sand" is muddy. It is super packed for all of this and if you were laying out you would be squeezed next to some stranger like a sardine. I do not recommend. Much better is Honeymoon and Caledesi (sp) Islands, the walking trails are great and you have actual nature made beach. Honeymoon beach is a little rocky...well you can read about that in its own review. :)

best beach in area......................................................................

shallow water at low tide. Difficult to swim...............................................................................................

Lovely beach

By nic08surrey |

We first visited this beach one afternoon to check it out and see what was what. We ended up staying for a drink and some lunch at Willy's Tropical Beach Cafe, which is great! The lady serving was brilliant and really friendly and helpful.
The beach looked clean and the toilet facilities were perfect for what you need. There is plenty of parking and great picnic areas.
We later came back to watch the sunset which was lovely, great the parking is only $2 after 5pm also!
Would recommend this beach.
