PISMO BEACH in big tall letters for great family photos and selfies, it's a whole new boardwalk and pier with great restaurants and boutiques right close by. Try the slide!

Great place! The pier was just refurbished. It is nice and wide with lots of places to sit and relax. Fishing from the pier is allowed. It is a great place for families too!

We took a short stop for lunch at Pismo Beach as we drove down from Morro Rock via San Luis Obispo on the way to LA. The Pier seemed lively even during lunch so I can imagine what it would be on a summer night. Nice to see the waves breaking out on either side of the pier, the pelicans flying over the Pier.

It'll be so nice when it's completed! There's also a large hotel being built in front of the pier. Should be completed by this fall.

Brand new and clean for now fun to watch the people fishing good parking and plenty of restaurants in area also things for kids to do

The beachfront area in Pismo really is a great place to stroll, day or night. Even parking has gotten a lot easier, now that work on the lot at the east end is finished. We came down after dinner on Memorial Sunday, and watched the last 15 minutes of sun-glow on the water, and then a few stars peaked out between clouds. A couple of families with kids were playing on the swings or in the sand, despite the nip in the air. A really pleasant hour doing not much but watching the surf :-)

I am sure this place would have more crowds if there was no pandemic and with social distancing in place. But with the current situation it was nice to have it the way it is and enjoying the view and surroundings. We will be back in the near future.

Loved watching folks surf from mid pier. Lots to do in this area too. The woman at the Visitors Bureau at the Pier's entrance was a wonderful resource for the area. Great food recs from her. Gotta walk the pier when you're here!

We stopped of in Pismo enroute to santa Barbara. We walked the pier and it was interesting to watch the locals fish and the surfers. We could've spent hours watching the surfers and the crashing waves and amazing coastline. Wish we could've stayed for sunset

This has to be one of the worst places I’ve ever been to on planet Earth. All I can say is that it’s overcrowded, noisy, and so full of people it makes it difficult to hear or breathe. This was a massive disappointment to us and we only stayed for five minutes before leaving, I will never ever come back here ever again. Thank god we stayed a Mile away from this dump - it reminded me of Bognor Regis on a bad day

My husband and I have visited the pier a few times now. It's huge! The views are amazing. There is plenty of nearby parking with public restrooms right at the start of the pier. You can walk down and enjoy the ocean breeze along with the beautiful views of the coastline. We've seen a few surfers and a few people fishing but mostly people just out for a stroll. Plenty of bars/restaurants/shops nearby to visit while you're there.

We came to Pismo Pier while on vacation and loved it. Loved the atmosphere, and there are lots of beaches to sit on. Liked that there ate restrooms and places to wash off your feet.

We had a lovely walk to the end of the pier. Great views, we had sightings of dolphins, alas no whales.
Avoid the little coffee shack at the beginning of the pier. We had 2 coffees for $9 and it was awful, very weak coffee.

Having lived in several California beach towns in my youth, I am always drawn to piers that extend over white sand into the Pacific. The Pismo pier offers a very fine version of this classic California structure. Walking out the broad wood pier, the lack of commercial activity on the pier presents a soothing vibe with surfer capped waves breaking at the side and solitary fisher-persons at the end providing nice framing. We had a sunny day with gentle ocean breezes. We visited the pier on a road trip to Southern California. Just off the 101, the Pismo Pier is a nice stopping point. A parking lot is located at the base of the pier just off Pomeroy Ave. Mid morning on a July weekday, there was good parking availability in the lot and street parking is available nearby. Well worth a visit.

Great place to walk and explore. Good places around the area to eat. Better to visit during the week, The weekend super crowed.

Glad to see it RE-OPEN. Good turn out, safety is important. Great idea for the fishermen. we'll be back

This place is great. Could have stayed here longer.
Very kid friendly.
Nice beach.
Clean and just nice place to visit with kids.
Would come back for sure.

Long pier with plenty of seating and telescopes for whale sightings. No dogs allowed. Small shack which offers souvenirs, snacks and fishing pole rentals.

My wife and I strolled out on the newly renovated pier. Totally beautiful to watch the waves roll in. You can feel the pier move with the water but don't let that scare you. Lots of people on the pier fishing, I did not see anything being caught. Even though it say no dog there were at least 6 of thm on the pier but I am an animal lover so it did not bother me. The lighted Christmas Tree on the end of the pier loos great at night.

This is a great way to unwind with a quiet walk along the pier and walkways. It is a chance to get some great views across the ocean and just take some time out. There is currently significant work being done on the pier itself but the associated walkways all around it are still accessible.

Worth a walk .... The pier is long and wide, allowing you to watch surfers as they catch waves. Pismo Beach is also quite large with soft sand and plenty of space. Public bathrooms aren’t kept very clean but you can grab a coffee or something to eat at a nearby restaurant and use their bathrooms if needed. Metered parking is available along nearby streets and in a parking lot by the pier ($2 per hour).

We (Mac and Karen) had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Love at Susanville California at the Kopper Kettle. He is a very kind hearted Man, It was a breath of fresh air seeing someone like this who still loved his years with his wife (47) and you could see he still felt her loss greatly. His message rings clear and should ring clear to younger people considering or perhaps newly married. IT IS FOR LIFE...Don't go into looking for an escape clause. I pray that God protect him and guide him as he shares his testimony of love to hopefully those that need to hear it the most.....Thank You Mr. Messenger (Rich Love) for a gift you gave both my wife and I at a diner in Lassen County, the gift of you and your story. Mac and Karen MacChamber.

Beautiful views, lots of shops and restaurants. The new upgrades were definitely needed and done well.

Nice old 50s style Pier with surfing on the sides and a bunch of old type taffy stores etc all around it. kinda like a mini Santa Monica store

I was lucky enough to be there on a Wednesday, so I went to the Farmers Market. I purchased some of the sweetest blue berries, caramel and cheese popcorn and corn on the cobb.

The view was amazing and peaceful not a lot of shopping spots which was nice it was all about the view. I saw a lot of otters and a sea lion swimming amongst the surfers. It was quiet. Both in the evening and in the morning.

The Adventure Buddies goes for a walk by the Pismo Pier to get great pictures sunrise or sunset cloudy or sunny. It’s a nice place to explore and walk around whether it’s your first time or return visit!

Thus historic pier is mainly used for fishing now but it’s history goes back more than a century when it served as a dock for ships carrying CA goods to other shores as a bypass to expensive inland rail. At Christmas, there’s a light tree at the end. Easy beach access as well.

On the colder side in March but who cares, your at the beach! The Pier was awesome! The sunset on the Pier was incredible and the views to die for!

Pier is closed for construction for a few months😥 looking forward to seeing the improvements next year!

We have visited before... heard from a local that the pier has just reopened. It's a great place... peaceful, charming... beautiful! We were honored to be there on Veteran's Day this year and caught the celebration on the pier!

Pismo Pier is at the heart of downtown Pismo Beach. We spent a good amount of time here walking the beach, walking the pier, and watching the surfers catch a wave. A lot people come to the pier to fish and others are here to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. It is close to downtown restaurants (good restaurants) and fun, beach-town shops.

so easy to get on the broad walk to the pier. Was nice to have the sun and even the wind at your back. It was a good way to start the day and also watch the sunset. Lovely.

When we first started our walk in the morning, the pier was shrouded in fog. After visiting a couple of the nearby shops, we walked back out onto a bright, sunny pier crowded with tourists. Later, we returned to see a most amazing sunset!

Nice walk out on the big pier. Good to watch the sunset, surfers and just check out the waves in general. I love the live cam from 805 webcams it's a beautiful spot.

On a short trip to San Luis Obispo, we came to visit Pismo Pier and the surrounding neighborhood. We had visited several years ago and enjoyed relaxing on the sand, so we figured it was worth a day trip from San Luis Obispo. The drive from San Luis Obispo isn't more than 15 minutes, and the town is also accessible by bus (Route 10, from the San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Agency), which we opted for on our most recent visit.
The pier itself is nice, stretching far enough into the ocean that we could get some good pictures and videos of the sandy shore, the waves, and the ocean. There is one restaurant, plus one or two shops, all set up in trailers along the pier. Although we didn't stop to browse any of these, they were all fairly crowded with other visitors, which we took as a good sign. The beach itself is large and fairly wide from the street down to the ocean — which isn't always the case at beaches closer to home in the Bay Area, so it made for a nice place to sit and play in the sand.
Surrounding the beach and pier, there are several blocks' worth of restaurants and shops, mostly seeming to cater to tourists visiting Pismo Pier. We walked about 20 minutes to the north end of the beach to dine at Ventana Grill, a Latin and seafood restaurant adjacent to some hotels. Including our meal, we spent about 4 hours at the beach; there is definitely plenty to do and see.
Overall, we enjoyed our return visit to the Pismo Pier. If you're looking for nice views, a chance to play or suntan in the sand, and a beach atmosphere, this area has it, and we'd definitely return again next time we're in the San Luis Obispo/Pismo Beach area.

Entry to the pier is free. And it is a good sized pier. You can stroll along and view the beaches on both sides and the coastline. The pier is also quite wide and when we were there it was not very crowded. This is definitely something to do if you are spending some time in Pismo Beach. No dogs allowed.

We were pleasantly surprised how lovely the beach was. At this point on time only part of the pier was open. It looks like they are repairing part of it. Lovely few hours out and about.I would definitely recommend this for parents with young children

Great place to take a stroll to the end of the pier. The views are stunning...even under the pier. Worth the time to take a look even if it is a bit basic

It’s a mixed bag at the Pier...while stores have signs posted to wear masks and practice safe social distancing, I have to say MANY people were not following these guidelines. The Pier is under construction which will provide an update to this space once completed. It’s a fun spot to watch the sunset and surfers....just know it may be more crowded than you expected.

Sure to covid most of pier is closed off. Even for a Monday there were lots of people so it was difficult to social distance and not everyone wearing masks so we did not stay in the area

This Pier is one of the best- and I have taveled all over the country and pride myself on being a tru BEACH “ expert”. This is a must see, if you really want a good glimpse of the Pacific Coast. The surrounding hotels are hidden gems too.. make sure you go to Harry’s when you visit, dive bar right down the pier that have live bands almost 7 days a week. Pismo Beach— you Rock. 🔥

Pismo itself is amazing but to walk this historic pier and sip on a cup of coffee is amazing.
It’s clean well maintained. If you plan in advance bring a fishing pool and enjoy a few more hours of free fishing 🎣. Yes no permit/ license is required on the pier that’s a rarity for California.
Keeping it simple take the time to walk, talk and smell the fresh ocean breeze on this wonderful land mark you won’t be disappointed.

Great old refurbished pier from the 1800s, the original built in 1865 I think and totally refurbished to the original design in 2017 at an astronomical cost of $6.4m dollars!!
1200 ft long and well worth the walk to watch some very classy surfers challenging the waves and a great view of the lovely seaside town of Pismo. Unlike the UK no tat on it just the boardwalk and plenty of seats and viewing points. Something our American cousins definitely do better than us! 👍🏼☀️😎

Visiting Pismo Pier is a nice enough experience. You can spend money at the shops or enjoy the natural beauty of the beach around you alone or with friends. But to meet someone as genuine as Rich on the pier is something every visitor needs to do at least once. It won't cost a thing. Only a few minutes getting to know someone who genuinely loves people, sings a song to lift your spirits, and can give you a hope for the future with some encouraging words. The man's been through the best and worst and he's there to share wisdom with anyone looking to make their day, even their life, just a little better than it was before. If you see him singing at the pier, give the man a wave at the least but if you really want to make your day and his, say hello. Ask him about his wife. Ask about what it means to love someone with every ounce of himself. He won't disappoint. :)

The new pier (as of October, 2018) looks great. Everything is new and wide open. We walked the pier last night at 9pm and it is well lit and seemed very safe.

The beach and the pier give you fantastic views, especially during the sunset. Lots of restaurants, souvenir shops and other touristic shops are around the area. I was able to easily find free parking by the roads.
There were notices on the pier that no dogs are allowed!

Got somewhat away from the crowds on the beach area and walked out the Pismo beach pier. Lots of fishermen with several catching stingrays while we watched. Great views.

Big wide open pier, always fun to walk to the end and watch people fish or watch the surfers. Looks like there are some food trucks that normally are open on the pier but were closed ( probably due to COVID) .
Tons of food options around the surrounding streets with most now serving outside. Mostly beach food.
Very impressed by the renovations of the area surrounding the pier , clean new looks great.
It was pretty busy for a weekday in Sept , it must be crazy in the Summer.

There is now a huge garish lighted sign near the pier that screams PISMO BEACH in towering block letters. The whole charm Pismo used to have was its laid-back retro quality. Now it looks like Pismo is much more commercially crass. Apparently some idiot involved in Pismo Beach tourism thought it was necessary to ruin the pier's look by screaming out the town's name. Everyone already knows they are in Pismo Beach!

The "new" Pismo Beach Pier was dedicated last year after a complete rebuild to upgrade and meet modern safety standards. It replaced an earlier one that was constructed in 1924, with major repairs twice at the end from storm damage in the early '80s. The new one matches the former one in footprint including the unique "diamond" patterns. Whether you are into fishing or just strolling, a visit to the pier gives you a beautiful perspective up and down the coastline and a great spot for watching whales, sunsets, or maybe just each other. Parking can be challenging in the summer, but the lot ajaccent to the Pier usually proivdes spaces. Surrounding restaurants, beach equipment rental shops, and clothing stores are right there to meet your needs. The Pier itself is free and welcoming year 'round. See you there!

We came to pismo beach to see the surfers, even though it was cold, there were alot of people in the water. The pier is amazing, the beach is clean.
The Only thing is that the restaurants on the pier closes at 21 pm, and that can be a bummer.

lots of restaurants and stores to keep you busy all the time, we especially like Splash Cafe for the Clam Chowder!

This is usually a great area to see a sunset or shop the stores along the streets leading into the pier, but the pier was under construction and closed. Still lots of people enjoying the weather and views.

It’s a wonderful place to enjoy a lovely sunset! What I noticed the most about it was how clean the area was. Didn’t see homeless. We enjoyed walking along the back of the beautiful hotels, too.

This was a real surprise. The pier and boardwalk and shops were a reminder of another time and place. If you're from Northern California... think Santa Cruz in the 60's.

we really loved Pismo beach as a whole and the Pier itself was a great point to see. We went quite early so not a lot of people there, and was a bit cold.

New pier at Pismo is really nice! The beach was clean, wide and long. It’s perfect for an awesome walk and exercise all day.

It's a solid pier, you can walk on it, no lose planks as far we can tell, no pirates or sharks encountered. For some reason it is the "World Famous Pier" at Pismo Beach. Why? not sure...

Beautiful walking pier with a rich history. Fun to watch the surfers ride the waves. We were here on a somewhat rainy day and it was still with the stop!

Fun area. Lots of outside activities for kids. Great for walking. Watch the surfers. Plenty of tourist like shops and restaurants in the area.

Enjoyed a stroll on the pier and the waves crashing onto the beach. They have set up two beautiful Airstreams on the pier. One for food to buy and the other for alcohol. Should be opening soon.

The updated pier is very nice. No more gaps in the wood. I miss the little store being on the pier itself.

The Pismo Beach Pier has an amazing history! It has been built and rebuilt since the late 1800s and the current pier is a hub for fishing and surf watching. Worth checking out!

Grab your partner and take a lovely stroll on the Pismo Beach pier. Perfect spot to watch birds, surfers, the sunsets or just people watch. No dogs allowed. They do have benches so you can take a picnic. You may need a sweater as the breeze can get chilly. Enjoy!!

This was our third pier. Pier was great to walk to the end and just take in the ocean and beach views. Great to watch people watch and all the watersports going on around the pier. Not going to win major prizes for things to do, but it's not as busy as some we walked. Recommended.

Spent a lovely morning here watching the waves, surfers and a few sandpipers! Easy to access and enjoy!

I live in Shell Beach, so I am blessed to have the Pizmo pier in “my backyard“… At this time of the year, there is reconstruction going on, so the pier is off-limits, but what a reconstruction it is! They are making the pier more safe and clearly it will be more attractive! The diamond parts that jut out make the pier one of a kind. Pismo is now a destination point, so they have tried to make it very attractive downtown. There are new hotels going up and more and more tourists. The pier will have some fun things on it when it is finished ..... many restaurants surrounding the area and always Fourth of July fireworks being set off at the end of the pier and of course the lighted Christmas tree. Hopefully by next year the pier should be back in full force! Enjoy your stay and central coast weather!

Beautiful ocean views and just relaxing. You can just sit and hear the ocean or rent bikes and just enjoy the day.

We got a very tasty, somewhat expensive, meal at Sunsets. We were quickly seated. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. It was quite tasty. $3.25 for a bottle of water seems steep.

Some family members told us about this place, so we decided to go down for an overnight stay. We didn't stay in Pismo Beach we stayed in another location with about a 40-minute drive to the beach. Pretty neat place to visit we spent about 4 1/2 hours on the beach along with about an hour of walking in and out of the little town and shops. The beach wasn't too crowded we were able to lay out and enjoy some nice weather, the water was a little chilly, and you have to really be there early or be willing to drive around just to find a parking spot. Make sure you feed the meter if not the Pismo Beach police will surely give you a ticket. The beach was clean along with the restaurants and restrooms on the pier. It kind of reminded me a little bit of Santa Cruz we were there during the middle of the week, so it wasn't too crowded. Also, a great place to do some people watching you can spend a few hours here and have a blast. Highly recommend finding a hotel nearby that you can and stay and enjoy the view.

On our list of things to do in Pismo, was to explore the Pier. However, the main pier was closed via chain link fence. The only life on the pier were dozens and dozens of birds who had the pier all to themselves.
The nearby downtown area was open for exploration, as was a bit of adjacent walking area just at the end of the stores and restaurants to get you down to the beach area.
In front of the chain link that blocked access to the main pier, are a series of restroom stalls, however, these too were blocked from any public access. On the other side of the chain link, were portapotties. So you couldn't go into a proper bathroom, which probably also would have had a sink to wash your hands. Instead, the portable toilets were available, overflowing with poo, and nothing available upon exit for cleaning hands.
While signs are plastered everywhere for mask requirements, we have heard that one of the most important things to do is wash your hands. Stunning that this part of health and hygiene is currently disregarded in the restroom offerings adjacent to the pier.

A beautiful new pier and great access and amenities. Whales and pelicans what could be better? Enjoyed the weather and a walk around the pier.

I go here all the time with my wife. We just love to walk and look at the sights...
and shop and EAT...!

the beach was absolutely breathtaking with the mountains behind it!! would def recommend, but the water was soooooo cold!!

I used to like it but now construction seems to be ongoing, parking is a nightmare, view blocked by new downtown hotels, smokers on the sidewalk. Did I mention parking is a nightmare as is traffic and the inconsiderate smokers on the sidewalk, especially at Harry's dive poser-biker bar.

The new upgrades to the pier make it even more attractive! Most people wore masks. Great for photos and a stroll.

Nice pier. Xmas lights. Nice pier. Nice pier. Xmas lights. Nice pier. Nice pier. Xmas lights. Nice pier.

This is a cool place to walk out on the water and watch the surfers. We also went on a busy holiday weekend and the bathrooms were still clean. Few cute spots to take photos, and you can get right down to the beach from here.

This was our first time on the remodeled pier. It was built well with ample seating and still has great views! I miss the bait shop and telescopes being on the pier, but now the views are unobstructed and lovely.

We had a great time here despite some cooler weather! The area has been re-done and it's great! You can get your pic taken with the Pismo Beach sign and there's a play structure resembling a whale for kids. Also a slide right down to the beach! Mine LOVED that! There was also a farmers market the evening we visited and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby.

Unfortunately the Pier was closed for our visit for renovations. However, can imagine it offering nice views at sunset.

The pier is truly iconic, with a friendly vibe which is so inviting. I love the equally iconic Airstream vendor trailers parked on the pier. The views and salty air on the pier are such a wonderful distraction from the daily grind.

It was a cold morning with temperature around 9 degree centigrade. The chill was roiling in and there were very few people in the water. The peir was the saviour, walked all over and took some amazing photos.

It was fun bein on the pier and watching people fishing while there were quite a few surfers be,ow us. And a beautiful spot for a sunset!

We made a quick stop at the beach, and it was really nice—not your typical West Coast beach. It reminded me more of the Outer Banks. The water is shallow enough to walk out into, and there’s a huge fishing pier along with plenty of dining options. The town itself has a laid-back, small beach-town vibe.

Clean Broad Pier! We found it easy to walk on, as some wooden piers easily trip people. Fishing is permitted without a license and there is a wash station. With all the birds and rookeries we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the pier and the many benches provided. Dogs are not permitted on the pier. Pismo is a smoke free city. No smoking or vaping is permitted in public areas

This was our first trip since the new pier opened. They did an EXCELLENBT job on it. It's so nice and clean and even tho it says "no pets" there were several dogs out there.

boyfriend and I went down Pismo Pier for dinner and beach night on our one year anniversary. Rich Love, Pismo Pier crooner, told us about his love story and sang us songs. lovely way to commemorate our first year together. thanks Rich!

My wife and I visited Pismo Pier during our mini vacation to SLO. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the Pier and it looked like it was recently renovated. Lots of space for untold number of visitors to walk and see the ocean life, surfers and fishing.
This is impressive, with lots of shopping and eating places within walking distance. if you have time you won't be disappointed!

Really beautiful view and a must see when in Pismo Beach. During the day, from the pier, you can follow surfers riding the waves, fishermen catching directly from the pier and take a dip in the cool water. But my favorite time is in the evening at sunset, it's just a beautiful sight🌞
In the area you will also find a lot of restaurants, souvenirs and toilets 🙌

Clean, bright pier - no rides or vendors. Perfect for watching the birds, for fishing or for walking and just enjoying the vistas

As piers go is a fine on. No arcades or nasty food outlets. A nice stroll with surfers on one side and pelicans on the other!

The actual pier was closed for renovation but the area is worth a visit. There are lots of shops and the beach is pretty decent.

The pier is under construction, so it is closed to the public. It looks like it will be completed in Spring 2019

The Beach is clean and has miles of walking. Restaurants and rental shops for surf gear and bikes nearby.

There are tons of good restaurants along the shore and the view from pretty well all of them is terrific. I think my favorite is Marie Callender's, although it's a tough choice.

Watch the sunset from here. But if it is cold and windy bring blankets and dress warm! Super windy on the pier. And go to the bar that faces the pier on the 3rd floor for a drink.

Pismo is a cute sleepy beach town w typical shops and restaurants.nove boardwalk and pier ..looks like bathrooms being improved, ample parking. Beach sand is soft and fine. We enjoyed a few hours here a few days in a row.easy access beach and under pier for views and water access .

Pier was very nice and clean , it wasn't that crowded , you can easily walk from some hotels on the cliff to the pier to seethe amazing sunset.

Growing up here, the Pismo Pier was an icon. The slats you always though you were going to fall through and the little House on the Pier. The updates have ruined it. You can't park in the parking lot anymore without paying. And the decorative "bras" that are flying are a joke. Also the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT THAT THIS IS PISMO BEAHC...DUH!. The area is now so sad. Awful. Should have been left alone.

The build up continues in Pismo and all of San Luis Obispo County for that matter. The powers to be are stacking one upon another all over this county and Pismo is no exception.A huge hotel has taken over most of the open area near the pier but life goes on as it did. There are just more people roaming around looking for food , song and a good time.If your thinking about camping on the sand best get a reservation as I've seen campers turned away with all their beach buggies and gear....Enjoy your place in the sun if you can still find it.....

We were there for a birthday. Had a great time until a wave took out the beach. Also got food poisoning at a local oyster restaurant. Pismo Beach was nice.

One of our favourite towns on the central coast. Walking the pier gives such a different perspective from many angles. Wide. Clean. Peaceful. Already looking forward to our return!

Always something about walking on a pier, just something you have to do during your beach stay if one is available. we always like to watch the surfers. saw a pair of dolphins this last trip. newly renovated, and now has a food truck on site with some killer views while you eat. (get the shrimp tacos) The addition of the PISMO BEACH sign is great, makes for a good photo opp.

Lovely and relaxing walk along the pier and great for watching the surfers and the sunset. Very scenic.

We walked along the pier at night and enjoyed the sounds of the ocean waves. The walk was pleasant and enjoyable along the lengthy pier.

Beautiful place. Nice that it's free to walk on the pier. Some places charge these days. I liked the boardwalk area near it too. And the lighted Pismo Beach sign. It's a small town feel. And nice restaurants near it.

For a relaxing stroll out to sea with little crowding, the Pismo Pier will tick all boxes.
Recently opened - it’s clean, patriotic and blends in well.
Shame about the public toilet opposite - stinking!!

Took a walk onto the pier while visiting pismo beach. Lovely wooden pier, and very much enjoyed watching the surfers catching waves.

We did a California coast drive over 5 days totally not planned and I would have to say Pismo Beach was my favourite stop!
This pier is amazing! Great sunset photos opportunities await and beach views for miles!
Pismo has it all the Pier, clean beaches ,great beach front hotels and the food the cocktails!
This coastal town has it all going on!!
Do yourself the favour and stop over night in Pismo Beach grab a ice cream and walk this fabulous pier, you won’t be disappointed!

My wife and I had a terrific dinner the night before at one of the restaurants while watching the sunset. We decided to come back and enjoy the eam on the beach and the pier as well. There's plenty of free parking early before you have to pay. The air was cold and crisp, just how we wanted it so we could take a brisk walk and enjoy the morning. We saw a lot of people around doing the same thing we were, enjoying the time together and the surroundings. Get up early, put on your walking shoes, grab a jacket with that someone special and head to the beach to take a walk on the pier.

The world famous Pismo Pier is a fantastic place to visit. When the Red Snapper are running, fishing from the pier is a rewarding and lots of fun. Great clam chowder is just up the street and the beaches are the best.

Love love this new pier.
Was here to see a friend, some food, some photo, some beach comb.. lol
Need more time to just enjoy the beach but definitely need a return trip .

Everything was wonderful and beautiful, best experience I can’t wait for vacation next year…. Definitely we are going back there we all were very happy. We stayed at the shore cliff hotel, highly recommended they are very very nice

We visit the Pismo area at least twice a year. I took my youngest out to the pier to go fishing. And we had a great time. Although youth under 16 don't need a state fishing license and I have my annual one. A lot of folks don't know that a fishing license is not required to fish from a public pier. Yes, you can look that up on the CDFW website. So if you feel like dropping a line in the water and didn't get you license this year, or are from out of state just head to the pier.

A must when in Pismo Beach to stroll the pier to appreciate the surrounding cliffs and beach, in the centre looking back to the small town.

Pismo Beach is a really nice beach area, it's clean and beautiful. We like these types of areas where you can wander through shops, grab a bite to eat, walk along the beach and of course, walk out on the pier.
Overall, it's pretty much a standard beach area like you'd find in Capitola or other such towns along the central coast, but if you like the beach, there's nothing not to like here.

This is a wide comfortable pier with several places to sit and a great angle to watch the surfers. It's the kind of place one might sit a figure a lot of things out.

They have done an excellent job with the new pier. It’s huge, lots of benches to view the ocean and sunset. We visit this area yearly and were very happy to find it open again!

This place was so fowl. I took my toddler to the bathroom to change into his swimsuit and immediately wanted to vomit. These are the bathrooms right off the pier, the port o potties were in better shape. Really ruined the day for us. The beach also could use some cleaning up.

We really enjoyed walking along this beautiful pier to the very end. The surfers on both sides of the pier were trying to catch waves, some fishermen were fishing, hoping for a good catch, and we caught a great sun, and it was awesome!

Great place to watch whales. Pier has food and is a great spot to spot sea humpback whales. While we were there a big pod of whales swam by.

A must if visiting...Wednesday is Farmer's Market...vendors and food choices at the beginning of the pier.

You walk out on this pier made of wood...what else can I say? Oh..yes, you look at the ocean in each direction!

Pismo Beach is definitely worth the trip. It is a cool place to chill out or tour around and see the area. Beach House Suites was the perfect location. Nice accommodations as well.

This was the southern terminus of our central coast cruise. It was a super turn North again point. The weather was perfect. The beach on both sides of the pier was crowded with high tide surfers.

Wide pier with a couple of food trucks accessible from the end of the street downtown. Piers are pretty much the same with few exceptions like Santa Monice.

Beautiful , quiet and very clean place , personal friendly y helpfully , the suit neat, and gorgeous I really enjoyed staying in Pismo, and willing to back

In spite of the very cold weather, it was a fascinating view of the pier. Beautiful background of the pier and walking just around the area brings peace.

We spent hours at the pier - walking through nearby shops, eating at food stands, playing in the surf, watching surfers, listening to buskers. The weather was nice and cool, the water lovely. I can only imagine that it is much the same experience people had visiting 30 years ago. Our kids loved it - plenty of slides and other fun activities.

The newly-rebuilt pier has only been open for a few months. It is well constructed and a reasonable walk from most places in Pismo Beach.
Fishing is free from the pier, and while there are no amenities (such as a restaurant at the end), most everything you need is a short walk from the pier. It's fun to watch the surfers ride the waves on both sides of the pier.
You can see a history of the pier posted on a shack right next to the pier entrance. A very interesting history. Check it out!

Was at pier mid week. Not bad as for crowds. traffic etc very good. parking all around. Very enjoyable. were in our 70's . Like mid week travel. for less crowds, better rates etc etc.

But the shopping, food, and the beach were terrific! Well worth the trip to visit if even for a short time like what we did.

Don’t miss walking out to the end at sunset or anytime. It was very clean and feels safe. We also loved the Pismo Beach iconic sign.

The pier is under construction but offers a great photo op for people looking to get photos of surfers, waves, landscapes, etc. from below. It was very quiet the morning I was there with hardly anyone around except a few surfers and walkers on the beach. A nice place to visit early morning with coffee and people watch.

wooden pier, pretty long too and an unusual shape in that it has several half diamond shaped projectories on either side and at the end, good view back and you can see for miles.
This TA catagory is for the pier not the whole town so dont mark the pier down for other short comings.
Pismo was pleasant enough but yes there is a lot of construction work going on at the entrance to the pier for a new plaza area etc. Scheduled to be finished for the summer 2020

We stayed at Pismo Beach for a few days and it wad lovely just wandering along the beach and pier areas. It is clearly a popular spot and was well visited by many of the locals. I am not sure whether I would go swimming - but the beach side walk was very enjoyable. Recommended.

Pismo Pier is situated in the Pismo beach. We enjoyed the walking on the pier and viewing the scenery of Pacific Ocean on the western side.

Just enjoyed walking out on this pier today. The swells were really big. The ‘refurbished’ pier is so nice. I really appreciate how they have the patriotic banners on it, lovely. Thank you.

The Pier has recently been re-built, yesterday we enjoyed a nice walk out on it. Dogs are no longer allowed now and it is very clean. 😎

You can take some cool pictures if you go under the pier. The structure patterns combined with the light/shade and colors make a fantastic setting to stage all kinds of interesting pictures

What a beautiful pier to walk on ...surfers on both sides to watch ...people fishing ..turn around and see the lovely city of pismo

Large pier (passable by car) on the beach of Pismo Beach. Good photo subjects (just at sunset . Sea is to the west). You can watch the anglers on the pier trying to catch (small) sharks - or the tireless wave riders waiting for the perfect wave for minutes on the surfboard.

We got fantastic weather! We had flown from Portland, OR and had several hours to kill before we could get into our Airbnb. Pismo Beach is about 13 minutes from the San Luis Obispo airport, so it was a no brainer to drive there let my grandson run around on the beach and get some lunch. Plenty of good restaurants to choose from. And you have to get your picture in front of the Pismo Beach sign!

great place to spend an entire day with friends/family. there are shops up the street if you would like to grab ice cream. the water is freezing though, but once you're in you'll have a great time! the waves are strong so be careful for little ones

Lots of fun watching the surfers ! The sunsets are outstanding. Very Clean, Nice walk to the end. Enjoy

Call me a snob, but not my crowd of people. Obviously tons of people on road trips during Covid, young students, riff raff, weed smells everywhere.
Hotels very expensive or run down looking ones. Arroyo Grande had some but we turned around and headed back south. ( and fires north)
Positive: newer bathroom building, wide pier. Handful of bars that can accommodate outdoor seating.
Parking at the pier.

If you are near Pismo Beach, then you have to take a walk along the pier! The new sign for the pier is fun and makes for a great photo op! Masks are currently required on the pier. Dogs are not allowed but not many people were following that particular rule when I visited. You can walk out to watch the surfers about midway along the pier or go all the way to the end and check out the recent catches of the fishermen. The view is gorgeous! Take a walk...

It was so easy to park here and we spent most of our time at Pismo Beach here. Loved the laid back atmosphere and the shops

Pier is empty of commercial buildings so it is a fun walk out to the end and be high above the waves and surfers.

This is basically a fishing pier, with several food truck stands during the day. Nice, easy stroll out over the ocean. Pay parking lot is very close by, but you can walk here from most any point in the central beach area.

The new pier is great. A nice walk out over the water. We enjoyed watching the surfers. No dogs allowed by the way.

With beautiful beaches and rolling hills, the pier and the boardwalk are a beautiful place to walk on a sunny morning.

Amazing view, fun for every age. Great place to surf, have a beach day, family fun time and enjoy life.

Was just down in pismo beach watching the waves an listening to rich love on the peir for hours! Super kool guy that over all poors out and opens up to everyone an anyone. If u get a chance ro go to pismo beach California garenteed ull see rich love on the corner giving a great show!🙏🤙

The pier has been remodeled and is great. They have places to sit, playground for the kids, and a large PISMO BEACH sign that lights up and changes colors.
makes a great back drop for a picture.

On the way to San Francisco via PCH, we took a break at Pismo Beach. We arrived here at the time of Sunset, the view was really beautiful. It was not at all crowded, very peaceful. It’s a good place to visit.

Strolling while waiting to be called for a restaurant reservation. Lots of places close by. Pismo bowl. Burger restaurant. Or just simply sit down watch the sunset.

I caught a wave and enjoyed fish and chips at the Pismo Beach Pier! Classically California and charming.

Pismo Beach a little beach town with some charming shops and the usual ice cream, fudge, etc. fare. Go during the week to avoid crowds.

The pier is under construction and looks like it won’t be open for awhile. The boardwalk looks like it needs care. In fact, so much of Pismo was under construction: roads, sidewalks, new buildings, pier. Hard to get around. We were walking and that helped as we would not have found a place to park.

Pismo pier has been one of my favorite recently to have a walk. It has recently been remodeled and it’s so nice they way it was done. It’s more spacious and there’s a lot more benches you can take a seat and admire the beautiful beach. This pier is also great for a mini photo shoot. The weather in late October was perfect , and especially around sunset time.

What a great guy. Susan and I talked with Rich Saturday around 1pm and he is a delight. When you get a chance to go to Pismo and The Pier you will hopefully see Rich. He is a treasure.

A wonderful spot for an easy morning, afternoon or evening stroll. The renovated pier was well designed with leisure moments in mind. They've built attractive picnic tables and benches along the pier ... tempting you to linger and not just walk the pier. Make sure to take a moment (or two) to enjoy it; it's a really pleasant interlude during any visit to Pismo Beach. Bring a snack or a cup of coffee, and maybe stay to embrace the incomparable sunsets.

Pismo beach has a holiday feel to it, with a large sandy beach, wooden pier that would give good view of the area. Unfortunately it was closed for maintenance when we visited.Public toilets were insect infested and incredibly smelly. Many wonderful shops and eateries bordering the seafront where we spent ages browsing. Would like to revisit if in the area again.

This is a great beach to take your pup. After playing on the sand (or in the water) easily walk up and down the Main Street to access all the restaurants and bars. Wooly’s right at the pier allows dogs on their patio.

Love everything about Pismo Beach! The boardwalk the awesome waves and the. Shops and places to eat! Come here!

Loved the pier, watched the dolphins and whales for the longest time from the end of the pier. Great playground for younger kids to play on. Not super crowded

My wife and I visited Pizmo beach in May 2019. A couple of times we took walks out to the pier and on the pier, and watch the surfers and the fisherman. The pier has been renovated in the last year, and is really nice. It’s also very close to several restaurants and shops or you can get souvenirs anything that you want to eat or drink and be to closing. Please note is very nice My wife and I visited Pizmo beach in May 2019. A couple of times we took walks out to the pier and on the pier, and watch the surfers and the fisherman. The pier has been renovated in the last year, and is really nice. It’s also very close to several restaurants and shops or you can get souvenirs, anything that you want to eat or drink and beach clothing. Pismo is a very nice place. I think you should give it a try

I am 65 yrs old now and can remember going out on the pier as a very young child ,to fish off the end. Through the years the pier has been rebuilt and then built onto with walkways along the beach leading to the pier. They have many things for the community , including a huge fireworks show on the 4th of July!

Nice wooden pier - visitors station and quick bites and drinks on pier. Within walking distance to great hotels and shops and restaurants.

Unfortunately, the pier was closed for maintenance or construction when we visited on September 16-17. There are a lot of restaurants and activities near the pier. Beach looked very nice, although it was chilly in the morning and evening in mid September.
The photo of the sunset looked very beautiful.

Spending 4 days in Pismo Beach we saved the wharf for the last day. To our surprise they still have it shut down and have not repaired it. It's been getting worked on since last year. Can we please hurry up now.

The Pismo Beach pier is solid, made from what looks like railroad ties. It is very wide, lots of seating and lookout nooks. The board walk leads to the pier and has stairways to the bac below. We recommend walking the pier and the beach.

This is a great pier for a walk over the water. The parking lot that was formerly at the base of the pier is closed (its not clear if the construction that is currently going on is to build a new parking lot or a new hotel). Assuming that you can find street parking nearby, make sure that you take a walk on the pier.

Towards evening do not miss the sunset from the pier
Background music of various serfist street musicians riding the waves ...
A great atmosphere

Modest pier, located in Pismo, good picture opportunity for family and friends located near great seafood options to satisfy anyone pallet.

walking along the boardwalk- the pier is under construction/renovation, so not accessible. There is also a large construction project underway next to the boardwalk.

A wonderful place to spend the day, and then enjoy the sunset. There is a charge for parking before 6 pm, but the lot is very convenient to the pier. This is a great place to spend the day at the beach.

OK, after coming here for more than 30 years I have to say something. We all know Pismo has a parking problem, that's a given. On busy weelends it's nearly impossible to find a place to park. On premium weekends like the Classic Car Show, it IS impossible. We had to park in the "Heights" at last years car show and walk two miles. I say this because they are currently undergoing a couple of improvement projects in Pismo and Shell Beach. In Pismo the Pier parking lot is being revamped with new bathrooms and more public space but less parking - WHAAAATTT! Shell beach road is undergoing an improvement project putting the power lines underground putting in a walking/bike path and, you guessed it, less parking on both sides of the road. What Einstein working for the city approved this? To rearrange the line from "Field of Dreams" - if you don't provide parking they CAN'T come. This parking problem is not new. They should have begun construction on a multi story parking structure 15-20 years ago. Come before 8am or after 8pm if you want any hope of finding parking. Follow me for other great destinations. Good Luck!!

A great place to visit and hang out. Long pier to walk out on; huge sandy beach; close to town shops etc. Bonus: you might get yo watch some surfer dudes!

We were staying at Pismo Coast Village, and it is an easy walk into town and out to the pier. We always love to walk the pier. All kinds of people watching at the beach and there are a bunch of shops in town as you walk to the pier.

We took a walk on the pier after dinner & it was absolutely beautiful! There are benches & beautiful views with everything lit up at night. It felt very safe too.

I got to the beach around 8:30pm and sadly, I didn't get to stay long. However, most of my time was spent listening to the beautiful love stories of a older gentleman by the name of Rich Love, whom I heard sings beautifully. He showed my family and I many pictures of himself and his beautiful wife and each picture told an amazing story. If you want to hear of an unconditional love story, how to make your present relationship stronger through selfless love, or desire any relationship advice go to Pismo Pier and look for Rich Love. As he told of his amazing love toward his wife, I couldn't help but think of God's unfailing love toward us. It was a beautiful experience at the pier. I just wish I would have come sooner to hear Rich sing.

Beautiful and clean, variety of restaurants and shops, very nice nice people!
Would Highly recommend Pismo Pier area to everyone!

We were returning to the place we grew up, and not too much has changed. The Rose Garden is gone, but Pismo still feels like it did fifty years ago.

At the time of this review the pier was closed for $3M of rebuild and renovation so you can't walk on it, it's fenced off. Due to reopen mid October. The boardwalk however is open and you still have beach access and can walk under the pier.

Lovely pier without any shops restaurants :) that sometimes are taking over the whole experience. Hassle free. Quiet and picturesque. Perfect to watch surfers and sea views.

Visited in June. They are renovating the area right near the pier. It will look really cool! In the mean time there’s limited access and construction.

After being closed for repairs for about a ear, the pier is finally open. They did a nice job on the repairs.

Great pier that’s well cared for. Walked out to check the sunset. Beautiful scenic view with lots of surfers out on the water.

The new is nice but it’s still so crowded that viewing at the end is not that enjoyable pictures are hard come by as well If looking for you and endless ocean with the sun setting! It more you with lots ppl as well

We always make sure to walk the pier when we visit. It gives you a sense of place. The sunsets are great from the pier.

The pier is big and wide. Great to walk out and see what the fisherman are catching. We really enjoyed watching the surfers, too. Nice to just sit and take in the view!

If you are in Pismo Beach this is a must stop. We made sure that we were here for watching the sunset. Lots of people line up here for the sunset view.

we went to a lot of beaches in N CA for run and especially for our dog to run. This beach is one on the top. The sand is very fine, so with watch the beach ground is packed and easy to walk on, the beach also has a long run way into deep water, that's why the suffers love this area. Dogs are free to run and it's a long long nice walking exercise.

there is a visitors center and a restaurant - both in trailers - on the pier and fishing off the end and sides. Great view and perfect place to walk

Stopped here to take a break from driving. Plenty of parking and places to eat. Unfortunately the pier was being refurbished and they were building new homes by the promenade so it was noisy but I can imagine it would be pleasant otherwise.

First time here…and nearly froze to death. Was wearing a turtleneck, wool sweater, jean jacket and a raincoat.
Lovely wooden pier. Fun to watch the surfers in full wetsuits.

Fantastic pier to shop on and enjoy and coffee while enjoying watching at the surfers. Make sure you get a cinnamon roll from the old factory round the corner.

I've wanted to visit here ever since my cousin (who lives here) started posting pictures of the pier and surrounding area. It did not disappoint. There was a marine layer the three days we were there, so I didn't get the spectacular sunset pictures that I wanted, but it was still a great place to go. There were some nice shops and restaurants/cafe's close by. Parking was spendy and hard to find, but if you park a couple of blocks away, it's free.
I stood on the pier and watched the surfers. That was fun. The waves weren't very high, but they were having a good time.
There were only two vendors on the pier itself, one was food, the other was gifts. They were in the silver airstream trailers. I think that in non-covid times there might be more vendors on the pier.

We have been in Pismo a couple of times and each time the pier has been closed during construction
Finally on October 29 we stopped by and the pier was open.
Very nice pier and a great place to watch the sunset

me and my family visited the pier during the Christmas break...pier is very nice and long good for an evening walk..we caught the sunset it was mesmerizing.. my son enjoyed the beach area plenty of space..kids also have swings ..paid parking available also many places to eat ...must visit in pismo beach

A remodeled pier that is great for a stroll , bike ride , or fish from also giving a nice view of Pismo Beach

The pier was very nice and looked to be totally refurbished. Visited on Christmas and the tree at the end was a nice touch. The no dogs on pier was a bummer. My dog traveled with us and could stay in hotel and many pet friendly restaurants, but no walk on pier.

Hi! This is Carrie from Village Inn in Mesa,Az! Had such a lovely time waiting on you both! Such a pleasure! See you next time! Dont forget to stop by!
Sincerely,
Carrie

We were there during the Marching Band competition. Great traffic movement, great waves, lots of places to eat/drink, we had a great picnic and surfing.

We love walking out on the Pier and seeing the waves crash below. We have a picture of this pier (at night) in our living room as a reminder of its splendor. In fact, we are getting married on the beach with the pier in the background. A very romantic place!

The pier is a relaxing place to walk and rest. There are many benches to sit on to watch the ocean activity. There are food trucks and seating to eat and enjoy the hustle and bustle of Pismo ambiance.

A lot of construction going on, but you can see the potential. The beach was open and great, but pier was closed. Can't wait until the final reveal!

We really enjoyed the walkway that been constructed whilst the pier is under re- development . It enabled us to get a great view of the beach and it was lovely seeing everyone out enjoying the space. It is very handy to the street traffic and we enjoyed eating dinner close by. There was also a busker r there that made it a lovely spot to spend the evening .

A great place to spend a quiet evening in Pismo. Lots of tables, benches, and fellow strollers. The view back at the coastal villages is beautiful.

It is relaxing to visit the pier. You have a good view of the people on the beach, but also of the surfers. Sometimes it is really spectaculair!!

We love strolling the Pismo pier, but it really is nothing particularly special over other piers we've visited.

New construction that allowed us to see a whale in the distance along with multiple surfers adjacent to it. Classic california pier

The pier is beautiful and so is the beach. What is NOT visitor friendly is the “paid parking” which is NOT clearly marked. Unbeknown to us, the 90 minute visit cost $85 parking citation. Spaces are not marked. There are small machines in hidden corners where a parking ticket can be bought. No signage. No markings. We out of town suckers don’t know…but boy did we pay. We won’t be back…it felt underhanded, after we had spent about $1500 for RV parking, meals and tours. Small town scheming. Too bad.

New wood nice walk don't know if plans to put anything on it needs restaurant or tackle shop old pier did

We went to Pismo over the 4th of July and had a wonderful time along with hundreds of others. It was great, people were friendly for the most part. Saw numerous American Flags waving in the breeze, just beautiful. On the night of 4th of July the beach was packed. The days before and the days after the beach was pretty much ours. The pier is still being worked on but the restaurants and stores were all open. Going back again next year, felt great.

The pier itself is wonderful with cute playgrounds, very large slides, food, etc, but there are way too many people who do not wear masks and do not keep their distance. This place is not Covid safe. I was constantly dodging people, especially large families. I basically went there briefly and left as soon as possible since it didn’t feel safe at all. It’s unfortunate that people are so inconsiderate, and there is no one to help enforce Covid safe practices. I would not recommend coming here until the Covid situation improves.

Pier is back open and beautiful. Says to wear mask on pier but wtf is going to do that. Lots of great kid attractions near the pier now. Slides, play area, and a great LED Pismo Beach sign. Parking prices are stupid.

The pier is wide and is a nice walk to the end . Very nice views of the surf, beach and landscape of this cool beach town. It has spots designated for fishing .
Fair amount of construction going on across the street when we visited.

Not the most impressive pier to see along the PCH coast but still worth stopping to walk along the beach.

This iconic Pismo Beach Pier is iconic for a reason. It offers something for almost everyone. One can come just to chill and meditate on a solitude with the beautiful ocean view and waves crashing that makes you feel so profoundly relaxed, almost a spiritual experience. Another can come and enjoy watching the surfers surfing. If you are into fishing, you can also do that, or if you’re like me, I like to people watch and enjoy watching everyone that walks by, including watching those people fishing!
I have also just simply walked by the sand along the beach and it was just as much fun and enjoyable!
The only thing that might be a bit challenging I would imagine is the parking. I never had the problem because I was staying at the nearby Vespera Hotel but seeing that there was a parking lot but with limited space, I would think there’s a little bit of a challenge in parking specially on busy days like weekends and holidays. But I think it’s still all be worth your while.

As the title says, it’s great for strolling. There was a surfing contest going on when we visited so it was nice to be able to watch the surfers from the pier. If I recall correctly (it’s been a couple of weeks), no fishing from the pier is allowed, which really makes it nice for people who just want to stroll and relax.

No commercial stuff on the pier - just a wide pier with benches for walking and looking. Scenery is great.

Nothing says “welcome to our town” like an $80 parking ticket slapped on your windshield at 5:30 pm in the off-season, in a lot that was practically empty. My wife and I went for a short walk on the pier, only to come back and find this little “souvenir.” What a joke.
The place itself? Cheesy, run-down, and reeking of animal feces. Whatever charm Pismo Beach thinks it has is buried under a pay-to-park scam that feels designed to gouge tourists. Instead of leaving with a pleasant memory, we left with a bad taste and lighter wallet.
If the goal is to make visitors feel unwelcome and exploited, then mission accomplished. We won’t be back, and I’d suggest anyone considering a stop here keep driving to literally anywhere else on the coast.

We can't wait until the renovation of the Pismo Pier is completed. This area is a fun spot in downtown Pismo Beach, CA. The completed renovation will make it even more enjoyable.

My friends and I went to the pier to watch the sunset. Wonderful weather and very clean beach and pier. Surrounded by small shops and eateries to enjoy also.

This is a great place to walk, sit, watch the people, the birds, the surfers, and just relax. I believe you can even fish from the pier. The surrounding beach is very nice and this would be a fantastic place to take in a sunset.

Views are great, lots of room ,dog friendly. Great place to view a sunset and then go have a glass of wine at one of the several restaurants nearby. Dog friendly, too...

We walked the pier after eating at a nearby restaurant. Had fun watching the surfers and the views were lovely. Very nice first afternoon in Pismo Beach. Even though it was foggy and cool we still enjoyed it. Bring a hoodie or sweatshirt if you haven’t traveled here before. We weren’t expecting the weather to be so varied but after a day we loved it.

If you are an ocean lover, this pier is for you. Nice views. Enjoyable walking experience. Can be a bit crowded on holiday weekends.

great to watch the sergers and beach people. Nice walk to to the end. would be fun to watch the sunset from.

Great place to hang out, watch surfers and see the seaside! Good size pier. Grab a bite then sit and watch the sea life and sea activity around you!

Would you like to visit a beach offering lots of excitement? Like wind surfing, volleyball, fishing, swimming, paddle board and enjoy watching the birds and sea otter? If your answer is yes, then this is the place for you. There’s lots of restaurant, variety of food, friendly visitors and safe environment. Place is beautiful and view is awesome. We really enjoyed our visit.

Beautiful, cheap close parking, not too busy. We had a blast and the view was unbeatable! We will definitely be back to the pier! There are restaurants, souvenir shops, a candy store, frozen yogurt, everything in the area!!

No restaurants and bars on the pier, but always fun to walk out and watch the surfers and the waves come rolling in.

The Pismo Pier was rebuilt a couple of years back and they did an excellent job widening it and making it visitor friendly. They had a very large lite up Christmas tree while we were there which was nice. Parking Tip: there is FREE large parking lot on the south side of the Sea Venture hotel. You will also find a couple of clean public restrooms.

I visit the Pismo Beach Pier occasionally and I usually see Rick Love there sharing his love for music by singing to the passers by. Rick has been performing at the pier for 17 years. If you stop and talk with Rick, he may share a few jewels for happy relationships, including a photo album of his family that bears a photo of him at age 22 and his wife, who passed away in recent years. It's evident that Rick has an enduring love for his wife and children. It's refreshing, in this day and age, to meet someone like Rick. Do take a minute to stop and chat with Rick to gather a few jewels, and fill his cup a little while you're at it.

I love the beach and this is the place to go! It’s right by Wooly’s which is a great restaurant. There is no dogs on the pier but you can take them on the beach (on leash).

The pier has been recently renovated and looks great. It is one of our favorite stops while on the Central Coast. Great people watching.

I have no idea what to say about this pier. It was cool. It was closed for construction when I was there in late June. But there are great views here. Fun restaurants and bars too.

Its nice pier & nohting on the pier, so you can enjoy a nice walk. Not a fancy pier like Santa Barbara or Pier 39 at SF, but if you are at Pismo, its a nice place to come , have some photos and look around.
Good cool breeze blowing

This is definitely an interesting and fun place to visit. The area is well laid out with easy and close access to the beach. If you are photographer, there are very interesting photo opportunities; check our under the pier. Check our the diner named “Cool Cats” for its 1950’s ambience. Very cool place to visit!

You've got to stop and talk and listen to Rich Love talk about life, love and relationships. What a great story!Christmas tree at end of pier makes a romantic walk!

We took a few longs strolls on this newly renovated pier audit was so beautiful. The pier is clean, wide and very inviting. The sunsets from here are just spectacular. Also very nice that there is no charge to enter as some piers do charge.

They were still renovating Pismo Pier when we were there. The view under the pier was great and the typical under-the-pier picture was necessary. I can only imagine what a great view the pier provides in all directions. I will certainly go back to see that.

We saw a sunset from this pier a few days ago. The sunset was fabulous and it was fascinating to see surfers in the ocean still surfing at this time.
Nice pier, good beach and a variety of restaurants to eat at near the beach.
Munir Daya

It's all that you would expect when visiting a pier. The waves were spectacular! Due a storm the night before we couldn't walk on the pier but we walked the sand under the pier.

Pier is done beautifully with every age in mind for teens to pose with the glowing sign to kids well all ages on the slide. Couples and elderly plenty on seating along both sides without disturbing the fisherman. Memories from when I was a kid and thought I would slip thru the boards and feeling it swaying when hit by waves.

I have seen Rich everytime I go to pismo. He is my favorite part of visiting, he is the sweetest man and I always look forward to seeing him near the pier.

Yesterday was Easter Sunday and we chose to take a walk on the newly rebuilt Pismo Pier. The day was bright, sunny with a brisk wind. Waves were rolling well and surfers were catching some nice rides.
The deck and rails of the pier are clean, sturdy and there seems to be no hazard of tripping. Just beautiful ocean as far as the eye can see. Looking south the campers on the Oceano Dunes gleam in the sunlight, looking north the soft tan cliffs of Shell Beach stood in contrast to the green hills and yellow blooms in the hills. Looking due East the homes on the hills stand proud like the Amalfi coast..
All in all an extraordinary day with plenty of room for many to enjoy our beautiful coast.

Shopping, walking the beach and pier. The food is really good at all the little restaurants. Dogs are NOT allowed on the pier. Get there early for parking or you will be on the hunt.

Pismo beach is a busy and fun beach. Tons of restaurants, awesome beach and the Pier is fun to stroll on and take pictures on.

I was on my way to Santa Barbara and heard about this beautiful pier in advance! I wasn't disappointed! Unlike Santa Monica, there are few tourists here and in my opinion the Pismo Pier is also much nicer! You can park right in front of it!

There is nothing on the Pismo Pier. No restaurants, wine tasting or shops. You can find all that close by. This pier attracts those who fish and appreciate an expansive views of the water. Tranquility reigns: If you get up early enough, your only company will be the fishermen and birds.

Open and doing business. Following the guidelines that are in place, even as ridiculous as the state of California guidelines are. Pier is great, food vendors were in compliance and good quality.
One of the most beautiful beaches we have been too. Nothing like what they have allowed the beaches to become in and around the LA area

The Pismo Beach Pier Experience is one to write about! Fun, sun, surf, clam chowder and so much more!
If you’re looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy the ocean vibe. Pizmo beach is the place to go with a great wouldn’t hear that you can just hang out on, fish on, even get something to eat.
The pier also offers a great view of the surfers, beach goers, and people fishing. The adjoining little Marketplace has everything you could want from several great restaurants as well as world famous clown chowder at splash Café. Lots of souvenirs and even beach front hotels and motels. If you get the opportunity just come hang out for the day it is well worth it. Pismo beach the hidden gem of the cost

time well spend. nice view of the beach. good restaurants as well. parking is not free, but not very costly as well.

The Pismo Pier had an amazing view of the sunset. I was clean, quiet, and relaxing. There were enough visitors, but not crowed.

I did not know they had renovated the pier, but did notice the little shop stand was gone, and that it was the cleanest pier I've ever seen! Hardly any bird droppings, they don't allow dogs on the pier, or bikes,..... But, it was a very tranquil walk, passing by the surfers in the water, beyond where the waves are breaking, with hypnotic views of the ocean, and Pismo Beach and town. There are no restaurants or shops on the pier. Just some benches along the way for those wishing to rest, or fish. There are restaurants, shops, & hotels all along the beach and side streets near the pier. It just makes a nice focal point.

We visited the pier and beach briefly following our dinner at Wooly’s. Our two teens were finished eating, so we allowed them to explore the nearby beach while we ate.
The pier was the perfect spot to enjoy a spectacular California sunset. The pier and area around were clean.

The Outlets never disappoint with the discounted deals I always make of the stores with. This trip I saw a gentleman singing old love songs in his motorized wheelchair in the mist with bags covering his stuff so it doesn't get wet from moisture outside. I was so interested in hearing his story that I stopped and asked for a picture with him & had him tell me the story of his beautifl wife of 47 years. Recommend stopping and talking to the sweet man if you see him out when you come. Most people just walk by him awkwardly (which was what compelled me to stop actually) and don't say anything to him. Don't be like those people. Tell him hi and listen to his amazing love story ❤ It'll be worth your while in doing so! 😉

First let me say it is a ideal location and really nice facilities.
The valets where all top of the line Andrew,Emma, Oscar and lenathan where all great.
The only negative I would say is the walls are super thin thats a plus when you want to hear the ocean a minus when you can hear the neighbors snoring through the walls.
That being said before the loud sleeper got there it was great getaway and I would stay there again.

Just a normal wooden pier extends into the cold and foggy Pacific Ocean from the crowds on the streets of Pismo Beach. Sadly, the use of masks is not widely followed, only the very few Don them.

Just visited Pismo Beach and walked on Pismo Pier. I walked on that Pier both in the afternoon and the early morning. It's beautiful and awesome. There were surfers on both sides of the pier.

Went here with my wife and another couple to walk around. Agree with the other comments on here that the bathrooms are terrible but I at least found a close parking spot!

Warning. Most everywhere is pay for park, so double check your location. You will get an $80 ticket if you are cited. Otherwise, it is a nice place to visit.

I would not make a special trip. It's not at the avatar of tourism in Pismo.Great fireworks July 4 watch from somewhere else.

A must see when in Pismo Beach. We watched surfers and enjoyed the great views. You could bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it there.

My girlfriend and I were walking on the pier after dinner on date night. This man said he had to show us something. He pulled out a book with a picture of him caressing his wife. He gave lots of wisdom on relationships and keeping the love on. Some highlights I'll share here and that I encourage someone else to ask about: The tease, brushing her hair, the gentle flick of her hair, giving her confidence in herself, being the security that she wants and needs, and much much more. Thank you Rich for the love songs, for sharing your wisdom and your beautiful family photos!
Keep the love on!

Wonderful views of the ocean!! The beach is clean even though it was full of people enjoying the sunny weather. A must visit stopover you are passing by the area. The eateries around are also nice serving fresh food and beverages.

Very unique to see Airstream trailers ON the pier itself. One is the visitor's bureau and one is a food truck that was quite busy (we didn't try it). The pier itself is in great condition and was nicer than many piers in California (with regard to the crowds being sketchy). Overall, a great pier with a great new plaza on the shore!

This place was packed when we stopped by during a road trip. We strolled to the end of the pier, dodging bird poop. Even the birds like this place. The views are spectacular.

We added the Pismo Pier and boardwalk to our morning walking routine. The views are spectacular both looking out to sea and back at the coastline. The biggest thrill was spying a small seal swimming in the waves among the surfers!

Lovely views of the sunset and pier. Good mix of people and nice place to bring the family.
Unfortunately, there are development works to the pier and nearby area

This was a great stop. Clean beaches, cool pier friendly people and the scene was just right. Cool mix.

Long pier on the ocean. Very clean area. It was in the low 80's at the beach end of the pier and by the time we got out to the end, it was almost chilly. Relaxing to just watch the surfers on both sides of the pier and the fishermen and all the people. LOTS of restaurants around the beach area and shopping opportunities abound.

What a gem, we stopped in Pismo on our way from LA to San Francisco. Pure bliss walking along the pier watching the dolphins and the surfers, topped off with a beautiful sunset this truly is a beautiful place.

Beach is a little dirty and there were a lot of dogs there. Not really a must see when you are there. But you can make nice pics of the ocean.

Wonderful stroll to the end of the pier from where you can look back at the beach with the city and mountains in the background.
You'll find a couple of Airstream trailers on the pier -one houses the Visitors Bureau and the other a restaurant where you can enjoy food and drinks while looking out from the pier.
You can get a selfie next to the Pismo Beach sign on the pier plaza or the kids can enjoy the playground with the slide that goes down to the beach.
Nice stop on our trip up the Pacific Coast highway. Spent a couple of hours walking, watching the surfers and enjoying the view.

Wonderful pier since the rebuilding. Clean and safe filling.
Views up and down the coastline from anywhere on the pier.

The pier is clean and newly renovated in 2017 (as i read). I think many people came here to whale watch and fishing.

Beautiful scenery from the pier with a beautiful beach! The pier has several lookout angles. A couple of places to shop are near the entrance of the pier. We saw a couple of otters playing and several surfers.
Bring a sweater or windbreaker, the air is cool in May. The water temp is 53 degrees.
The pier is connects to a lovely terrace that connects to downtown where there are many shops and food cafes. Splash has an amazing clam chowder bread bowl! Personally, I will skip the lobster roll next time.
Cool Cats has a fun menu and we really enjoyed their burger!
There was only one rental bike shop open on Sunday and Monday - but they had several options to rent.
Overall a wonderful place to visit!

The pier was nicely done but I wish they still had the store on the pier and maybe put a restaurant on the pier.

Yes, the pier is closed but we were able to admire it from a distance as we walked out from the RV park to the beach. We were able to keep social distances with not a lot of people at the beach. It would have been nice to be able to walk up there though.

Panoramic views of coast line. Worth walking on it. Can see surfers surf. Go for the views. 1hour enough to visit it

Just remodeled this year, it is clean and open. You can walk 1200 feet over the ocean. Wonderful boardwalks surrounded as well as good restaurants. Stores are low end tourist crap for the most part. The area of the central coast is one of the most scenic anywhere.

The pier had to be rebuilt and was just recently completed. Very nice for walking or jogging. Lovely views.

The views are great, nice walk just marred by the construction being done. It will be amazing when done! Fun to watch the surfers

It had been a few years since we had been here, but the new pier is beautiful. Wide and great views. There is a lot of construction going on, but it does not take away from the experience. Even though there were signs up "no dogs", we saw a lot of people walking them at night on the pier. Dress warm!!

Pismo is the best place to watch the sunset over the ocean. The sky is so breathtaking and the water is refreshing. Take off your sandals and sink your toes into the sand.

I’ve lived on the central coast for 33 years & was so happy when I went and walked in the brand new remodel of our Pismo pier. It felt so secure, had the latest technology.

With so much construction in the pier area for quite a while, it was so exciting to see the changes. The pier is the nicest I have seen up and down the central coast. A new hotel will also be opening up at the pier area. There are just so many exciting things going in Pismo right now. Summer is going to be such a great time to visit once again.

pier wasn't crowded and loved stroll in morning and evening. it is lit with lots of lights and we felt safe. also clean area for kids. enjoyed watching surfers and waves crashing from above and enjoying coffee from nearby shops.

Came here on labor day weekend (Sunday) and it was a zoo! So crowded with people even during covid-19. There are paid parking lots all over but to be certain, arrive between 9am-10am to find free street parking that are not too far from the beach.
The pier is updated so there are ramps and stairs with showers and bathrooms. You can bring your dog on the beach and I even saw many people drinking beers and spirits. Old West Cinammon Rolls is not to far so head there and grab some rolls as they were delicious!

We visited in December, so the beach was not crowded. Locals walked the pier and gave us some great suggestions for places to eat and things to visit. Everyone was friendly and the views are gorgeous.

My husband and I visited a Pismo Beach and walked along the pier. It is a nice view of the ocean and beach and you can watch the surfers.
Lovely walk
Stunning pier and buzzing with guys fishing and families
Lots of surfers who were mad in the waves
We really loved it
