Beautiful historic courthouse with open steps up to the top with views in all directions. Some nice historic photos on the floor below the top. You can just walk in when the building is open.

One of my goals as a photographer is to capture all 254 county courthouses in Texas. Presidio County in Marfa is one of the best. Well restored externally, even better when you venture inside. The dome and stairs inside, along with the flooring and time period furniture makes this an inviting courthouse. Congrats to the county for maintaining this building for the generations to follow.
Be sure to see the old jail across the street, and several churches on the square built in the same time period. Further, venture down the street to the Presidio Museum, as they have images of Marfa and this great courthouse from almost 100 years ago. Worth your time to spend some time in Marfa!

We have climbed the five flights of stairs to the top where you get a panoramic view of the town and surrounding area on s number of occasions but this time took the elevator tucked away on the west side of the building to the third floor and then walked up the last two flights. The view is worth climbing up five flights but just as good only going up the last two.

Must go to top floor, see the entire town. It is a step back in time when craftsmanship was the name of the game. We entered the courtroom ( not occupied) and Wer struck by the wood work throughout knowing that it has stayed the same many, many years. It was a small peek back in history of a town that is proud of its past . Your trip is not complete without walking the circular staircase to the top.

There are some terrific photo opportunities here. The color of the stone, the unusual architecture, and the well-kept square make it a great place to wander by and take some pictures.

Most Every rural county in a Texas has 19th century courthouse at the center of the county seat. Marfa is no exception. The JP and county judge still holds court here. A climb to the cupola offers a 360 degree of Marfa, a weird town that has to be the most eclectic mix of rich art snobs and poor People in America.

This domed masterpiece dominates Marfa and the surrounding area. Take a stroll inside and marvel at the beautiful architecture.

I've been to all 254 Texas courthouses (usually good places to find a clean public restroom), and this is a nice one. Be sure to climb up into the copula (2 sets of steep stairs after elevator to 3rd floor) for nice views in all directions.
Disclaimer: My father practiced law in Marfa in the 1920's and undoubtedly spent much time in this building.

The Presidio County Courthouse has been recently renovated, it has original wood doors, floors and banisters. The three story building has stairs and an elevator so you can see all floors, the original courtroom. The Dome on the top is stairs only, but worth the climb, to see the panoramic view of Marfa and west Texas.
Pet friendly lawn has large established trees and benches for a quiet picnic or just a stroll through town.

We hoped to enjoy a creative lunch in Marfa and found our first six choices closed due to the day being Monday. Ended up eating at Dairy Queen after calling, driving around and googling for a place open for a good hour. Also, the museum was closed. So, call ahead and check schedules which we did not do. Our drive was only 20 miles so no big deal. We still enjoyed seeing the town and stopped at the hotel arcade for coffee.

This old building has been kept in great shape and it's fun to walk through and see the old wooden stairs and railings, the courtroom that looks like we expect a courtroom to look, and a couple of beautiful chandeliers. It just takes a few minutes to walk through and it is well worth it.

Just waltz on in and head all the way up. The rest of the courthouse is beautiful, but make sure you get to the top.

Wonderful place on a quiet square in the center of town. Take the time to visit. The most interesting thing in town.

It is an attractive old courthouse that is worth photographing, and the region has a lot of interesting history.

Worth a visit. I can visualize the john grisham novels unfolding in the old courtroom. The cupola is great place to get some pics of Marfa if the weather is agreeable.

If you are in Marfa, you must tour the Courthouse. Fully restored to its pristine glory and several stories high, its the best view in Marfa. The lightening rods even have their original glass balls.

We walked around the town a bit. We stayed in a VRBO off Columbia and Austin. Great location. We were able to walk around pretty much anywhere in Marfa since it is such a small town. We did the courthouse which allows you to go to the top and check out 360 views of Marfa. It is hard to miss the courthouse since it seems to be the tallest building in Marfa. Don't expect anything out of the ordinary! Marfa is a small town and is a SLOW town. Walking up to your a courthouse is the highlight!

The Presidio County courthouse is an excellent example of West Texas courthouses and has been restored to its old glory. I especially recommend walking to the cupola which provides a fantastic panorama of Marfa and the surrounding countryside. A perfect way to spend 30 minutes of your time in Marfa

This building sits at the head (or end, whichever way you're going!) of Main St. in Marfa, TX and is incredibly beautiful. It really is the centerpiece of town and especially nice lit up at night.

The wife and I are always looking for these historical courhouses. We visitied this one and the one in Fort Davis today. Both were great and we love the architecture of these old courthous.

It's the centerpiece of Marfa, right downtown, and a great example of Midwestern municipal architecture. Beautiful all through the day and especially at night.

Beautiful interior that is mostly unchanged from when it was first built. Beautiful woodwork. The courtroom is stunning.

I was standing out in the middle of the street taking pictures of main street and the courthouse when a motorcyclist yelled "coming thru" as I was about to take a picture. How considerate. Really. This is the local landmark by which you get your bearings. Worth a look.

Nice historic courthouse. You can visit the dome and get a great view of the entire town and surrounding area. It also houses a small collection of historical photos from the town's early days. Certainly worth 20 minutes while taking a break from shopping.

This is a very well maintained Texas county courthouse, and I absolutely love the architecture! Located right downtown Marfa (not that there's THAT much to Marfa to begin with). Check it out!

I really enjoyed my DIY tour of the Presidio County courthouse. It is famous in Texas and justifiably so. You can reach the cupola by taking the elevator to the third floor and then stairs up to the top. It offers a 360-degree view of Marfa and the surrounding countryside, including the Davis Mountains in the distance. The district court courtroom is available when court is not in session. An excellent example of 19th century Texas courthouses.

Beautiful historic courthouse in downtown Marfa. One of the nicest courthouses in the state of Texas.

Always enjoy seeing the courthouse in Marfa. It is one of the outstanding courthouses, architectually, in Texas.

The courthouse is nice but has seen better days. Still, the view from the top floor should not be missed. Plus, it's free!

The courthouse is beautiful from the outside, but do yourself a favor and check out the interior. The courtroom on the second floor could be a movie set -- it's spectacular. The staircases are stunning and the view from the top is worth the walk up.

One of the prettiest Texas courthouses I've seen inside and out. The courtroom is classic carved wood and high ceilings. Unfortunately the stairway to the top was closed so I didn't get to see the views others write about.

This is a very traditional Texas courthouse. It was restored in the early 2000s and it is lovely inside. From the top floor you can a miles wide view of the area.

It was closed when we got there but if you love old Texas courthouses then this one will not disappoint. It's a beautiful color and looks great in the Texas sun.

The courthouse is a typical historic Texas style - very interesting. The town is small and it is a short walk from the two major hotels in town - Hotel St. George and Paisano.

It is a beautiful stone work of art, worth a stroll around. Go inside and take the elevator to the 3rd floor, then climb the last 2 floors for a great view of Marfa spreading out for 6 blocks all around you. :)

Surprisingly nice building for a town of 2000. Great views from the top floor. Lovely woodwork but nothing else to see. Not worth a special trip but if you are walking around in the are, go in.

I enjoyed the easy walk to the top and the slightly precarious walk back down. It is a working courthouse so quiet is in order.

Open M-F only worth a look if it is open. The courtroom is open and the steps upstairs provides a fun photo opportunity

Free entry is a bonus into this slice of history.Get right to the cupola and take a look at Marfa unfold. A real treat to visit

The Presido County Courthouse is an impressive, late 19th Century structure that looms over the tiny town of Marfa, TX. It has been beautifully restored and commands respect as the seat of the county government from the days of the Wild West until today. I am told that visitors are often able to visit the cupola for a view of the vast desert that surrounds Marfa, TX.

I'm a fifth generation Texan and love old courthouses. My small town was the county seat so I grew up with one that I saw nearly daily and it's beautiful. This one is just bigger and prettier.

Definitely warrants a visit if you are in Marfa. Atmospheric. Climb to the very top and enjoy a view. Well, the view is not breathtaking, but you will get a good feel for the area.

Does any state have better county courthouses than Texas. C'mon, no way!
And this is a good one, remodeled just in the past 15 years or so. Very attractive pink stucco exterior, lovely inside, too.
Be sure to climb to the top for a great 360 degree view of Marfa!

This courthouse is located in the city center of Marfa. It's usually closed on the weekends, but it is very pretty and a unique center of attraction in the middle of town. Stop by and check it out if you're in town.

Situated in a most beautiful position in Marfa with a lovely lawn surrounding it. We sat there to eat our lunch and watched lots of people enjoying the scenery too. The building itself is impressive.

There isn't much to see in this historic building, but you have to walk all the way to the top of the dome to get a great view of Marfa. The day we were there, the wind was blowing so hard, it scared my 25 year old daughter, she had to leave the room, as the windows shook. It's also great exercise, although a little narrow, and if you are afraid of heights a bit scary. I do not suggest racing up the stairs with your 15 year old. I pulled a muscle, and was sore days later. So glad my brother in law who is in the area, suggested a quick stop. Be quiet it is a working courthouse. Also there are restrooms if you need them, a must if you are walking around Marfa.

One of the few "original" early post-Civil War courthouses. You can just walk through all parts -- the spectacular main court room, the magnificent cupola with views for hundreds of miles. If he's available, drop by to meet County Judge (who in Texas is also the chief county administrator) Paul Hunt -- a sophisticated and most interesting individual.

Kudos to the citizens of Marfa for restoring & preserving this grand old building. Beautiful place for justice to happen. Glad we went on a day when the building was open to the top for touring. I'm sure there are many tales to be told from inside this beautiful building.

This is a step back in time, especially when you take a seat in the second floor court room. You can just imagine a rustler being sentenced to a hanging back in the old west days.
The view from the top floor (4th) gives you some pretty good site lines of the town.
The hall ways and stair cases add to the old west flavor.
And... the old jail and water tower are just across the street.

Avoid that town at any rate! Cops are just waiting to fine out of town folks. Do not drive through that town. There were two police cars simultaneously stopping out of town folks on the same road and same time fining them! We got a fine, because the auto registration expired by just a few weeks!!! Usually one would get a warning. We emailed the judge's office and told them that we got the registration. They still made us pay a HUGE fine! STAY AWAY from that town.

Visitors can go up to the dome of the courthouse and view the city. We just took the elevator to the third floor and walked up the remaining steps. Because it is all windows it gets hot up there but the view is spectacular. It's free but not something posted. We found out about this from a local (our sincerest thanks to him).

Though town has changed DRAMATICALLY over the last 35 yrs, once we got used to the new Marfa, we still always enjoy our visits. It's still possible to walk right down the middle of almost every street and not get run down. The architecture on the main drag off 90 is still mostly beautiful. The shopkeepers are still talkative and friendly. And the skies are still almost always that unbelievable blue!

My husband and I love to view and walk around the old Texas court houses. The Presidio County Courthouse in Marfa is a beautiful courthouse as well. If you are in Marfa, the courthouse and square is certainly worth a short stop and a picture.

This courthouse is a beautiful piece of history. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful courtroom and all the woodwork. It is kept very clean and it is nice to be able to wander around inside while the offices are still in use. I was a little disappointed that there was no one to ask questions, and the top level was closed off. I was most looking forward to going all the way to the top after reading another review about that.

The architecture is striking. Looks like they are doing some work on it. The woodwork on the inside is fantastic. Wish the trees didn't block the facade from the street. Fall or spring visitors would likely get a better unobstructed view for pictures.

I stopped and spent an hour or so walking around the town of Marfa Texas. The town is small but the folks are friendly and are willing to share the history of the area including the Marfa Mystery Lights. Located in the center of downtown is the Presidio County Courthouse which was dedicated in 1887 and is still the seat of Presidio County. I visited Marfa on a Sunday Morning and the courthouse was closed so I couldn't enjoy the view from the dome, but I did enjoy walking around the grounds and views this beautiful building that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

While visiting Marfa we decided to venture into the Presidio County Courthouse. The Courthouse itself seems to have been recently renovated and is quite beautiful. It's the short, but winding climb to the top that really makes this a must do. Once you are at the top, it is the most breathtaking 360 degree view of Marfa and the surrounding countryside imaginable.

This was an unexpected pleasure. The buildings interior is beautiful, the staircase incredible and the view from the cupola is outstanding. I didn’t think it would be as great as it was. Just follow the stairs up...no hassle, no drama. Just plain cool.

We walked up and down the courthouse, magnificent building made out of wood which are in good condition and well maintain. The people who work there very friendly and if you asked a question they answer with great pride. Architecturally stunning. It is a gem in that area and a must to see and visit.

When the tower is open you can see the whole Marfa Plateau. This building is gorgeous. Inside and out. During the holiday season, the Christmas lights make it the focal point of the town.

The courthouse is a beautiful building and the most impressive structure in Marfa. There is something to see on every floor, and the crowning glory is the top where you can get panoramic views of Marfa and the entire area.

Nice century-old, typical Texas courthouse. Walk up to top for 360º view of area. If you're in Marfa, this counts as high entertainment. Not much here.

One of the most beautiful courthouses in Texas. It is opened to the public to walk the stairs to the top and get a great view of the town.

The Presidio County Courthouse if a well preserved, well maintained, and functioning edifice that is the center of Marfa. The pink stucco exterior blends with the brown pastels of the chihuahua desert and the cupola towers above the town for a tremendous view of the entire area.
Drop by and climb to the top of the Courthouse for the best (and only) 360 degree view of Marfa. The Courthouse is, by far, the tallest building in Marfa, and the cupola gives a such a picaresque view that it's well worth the climb (the building has an elevator to floors 1-3, which house various offices, but the design of the upstairs doesn't really leave room for an elevator.)
Beautiful woodwork and antique furniture are lovely, too. You have to ask someone to climb up to the top and I was told Fridays were the day, but I went on Thursday and they let me visit and take photographs of their lovely town.

This historic courthouse is worth the visit just to see the interior. Although still clearly a working courthouse, you can still see and appreciate the history. The best part, though, are the views from the top as it is the highest building in this small town. It is free and easy to walk in so definitely do not miss it.

I want sure what to expect exactly. I read things would be closed at certain times of the week or open during a limited timeframe. However, I didn’t expect closures on practically everything!
Restaurants were either closed, ran out of food, open during half the day (so no dinner), closed after 5, or required reservations. Most were closed. A coffee place was actually close in the early morning too! LOL We we’re so desperate to eat, I had to go to the small grocery store to pick up a frozen pizza.
In addition to restaurants being closed, so we’re the shops and museums.
People were NOT friendly at all and didn’t care to do business with you. This place, while out of the middle of no where, has no excuses for their atmosphere because Alpine and Fort Davis, Texas are also neighborhood towns and everything was open and way friendlier.
Marfa, TX made me realize that the future generation of America sucks.

Quaint, historical building... worth climbing all the way up to the top for a majestic view.

It's free. It's old. It's a courthouse. Not much else going on here, but the it's a nice thing to do in Marfa, not that there is much to do in Marfa but art, food, and more art.

well maintained grounds and building in the top spot in Marfa....loved seeing it again. Needs a bit of garden care, as weeds abound....and maybe a mow. It was Easter weekend.

We just passed thru Marfa, but had to stop at this beautiful building at the end or head of the street. It is the centerpiece of the town! Worth seeing inside and outside.

Built in 1886. Beautiful wooden staircase to the dome, but they recently closed the dome for the public.

Quaint old courthouse with easy access to all floors but make the climb to the very top for a complete view of Marfa!

The building is beautiful and very well maintained. The originality of the building is preserved. The square is good fro walking.

Court house anchors the only version of downtown. Worth a cruise by not really worth going in side. Typical Texas court house nicely kept up.

The building is just remarkable. The woodwork throughout is incredible. Love love love the circular ceiling. Unfortunately renovation was going on while we were there so we didn't make it to the top. Stop awhile and enjoy a stroll. We even picked a bag full of pecans from the outside. Yummy!

Wonderful Texas courthouse with neat streets leading to. Very clean. Weather was perfect for walk up and down street.

Stopped for a break as we drove through Marfa. Enjoyed walking the Courthouse lawn. There's several beautiful churches and old buildings to see.

This is a gem. It is a lovely old building in good shape. Worth a trip by to visit. Friendly locals. Nice walk around the courthouse.

Take a few minutes or so to visit this historic building. One of Texas’ county courthouses. Interesting courtroom. Stairs are lovely.

Visit the Presidio County Courthouse. You can't miss it as it occupies a place of prominence in town. But go inside during business hours and explore. Even if you're not an architectural history buff you'll appreciate the nineteenth century details which still remain. And you can climb all the way to the top and get a great view.

Although we did not tour the inside of the building, we enjoyed admiring this registered historic landmark when we stopped for lunch in Marfa (the restaurant Squeeze is opposite and recommended for tasty sandwiches. ) The building was completed in 1887 and built with locally quarried stone and brick. Set in Maria’s town square, it dominates the more modest surrounding townscape.

Rumores are true. The Attic Octagon is free and open the public. Respect the Courthouse proceedings that may be going on the 2nd floor. Continue up and around the next two staircases. The lower annex floor has some historic pictures but the showstopper is the portico filled with sunshine and 360 degree views this side of West Texas. Thank goodness the county supervisor just didn't put a lock on this. I applaud your building and splendor it brings to visitors like us.

This 1880's county courthouse was a complete surprise. A short block from the Hotel Paisano on Highland Street, this beautiful pink granite, three story structure makes it's presence felt immediately. The courthouse was open so we went in and walked around the main floor admiring the well maintained wooden staircase that rose toward the dome. Presidio County Courthouse is a real eye-catcher and worth a visit if you're in the area.

Picturesque. Take pictures from all angles. Do take some morning and evening shots to catch it from different lighting.

The place is beautiful but it was closed to public unless you had business so we didn’t get to see the city view from the top.

In the middle of nowhere exists an amazing building that is so unique and simply beautiful. It’s like a step back in time with the original woodwork, the original offices where just a few have been repurposed. It is truly the center of town where folks picnic on the lawn, listen to music or listen to readings that various organizations produce. The style of the building is not replicated anywhere in the Transpecos area which makes even more random.

A must visit if in Marfa. Beautiful building that offers a look into history. Would highly recommend a visit. Can be viewed in 30 minutes.

Hadn't been here for years.. courthouse still great! Rotunda open this trip!! Beautiful view from top room...360°. Stairways &walls very beautiful wood &squeaky! Kept clean &still in use! Met the sheriff Danny Dominguez ..busy guy!

It's only 4 flights with plenty of landing area to rest as you climb the 77 stairs..take the stairs! I'll admit the stairs can be steep up towards the top.
This is a real working as well as historic building.
Along the way, terrific woodwork as well as working offices/courtroom.
At the top, you're rewarded with great views of Marfa thru the closed windows in the very stuffy and hot top.
Yes yes yes

Texas has many beautiful courthouses. This is one to see. A quiet little county courthouse with an interesting group of stairs to the steeple.Be careful! Very difficult to come down due to design.

Worth climbing to the top tower and watching a train go through this tiny, but special town. There’s a pecan tree in front of the courthouse, look around, you might find a snack!

Awesome little historical building, with a great view from the dome on top. Just happened to walk past it while stretching our legs on a road trip, and very glad to have popped our heads inside! I would also recommend heading down the road to Manny's for a huge lunch, afterward. Anybody in town will be able to tell you exactly where it is, and the prices were practically free compared to Chicago. Win!

This is a working courthouse, although almost eerily quiet on the Wednesday afternoon I visited. There is no reception desk but just inside the door facing the main business street is a podium with an article about the restoration done in 2001. Check out the picture of the newly constructed courthouse and jail in 1886 with nothing at all around it.
The elevator is in an alcove near the end of the hallway that leads to the left, or west. The elevator goes to the third floor then there are two flights of curved stairs to the windowed cupola. It is a climb but doable and worth the effort.
Eight sets of arched double windows give a panoramic view of the Marfa Plateau and the mountains which keep it from being miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles. Closer in is the view south down Highland Boulevard to the edge of town and an overview of the Presidio County jails, both old and new.

I have traveled all over the state of Texas, photographing old courthouses, and this is one of the good ones. It is a pink granite and is unlike many of the other old buildings.

This is a magnificent old courthouse which is still in use. The rotunda & staircase are beautiful. The outdoor grounds are also pretty. Nearby is a beautiful old stone church

This is an amazing building a the end of the street just north of the "downtown" area. I
We went in through the south entrance that opened up right to the staircase. We slowly wandered through the building as there were a couple of historical markers, boards, artifacts to see. WE finally made our way to the viewing area, 4th floor, and the views of the town and the desert/prairie beyond were pretty nice.
This is definitely worth a few minutes to look around. The actual courtroom is pretty amazing as well. They don't build them like this anymore.

Definitely worth seeing AND climbing all the way to the top of the dome. It is only 86 steps and offers quite an expansive view of the area. the building is lovely as are the furnishings.

We took a stroll in and around the courthouse just as they were opening. Beautiful building both inside and out. They do have the very top closed off but it is still something to go see!

If you’re walking around Marfa this is worth the stop. What else you gonna do in Marfa? Take the time. Nice view from the top of the courthouse. Take the time to look at the historic photos just before the top level. Be mindful of the altitude as you climb the steps. You may get winded.

This is a beautiful building in downtown Marfa! If you love architecture this is a must stop in a small but unique town!

Loved to look at the old photos and the grand staircase was gorgeous. A quick stop by is worth it. just a little look on the way to hit the hotel bars.

In the middle of the desert, this architecturally rich building stands out. The center of activity in the county, it's still in full operation. If you go on the weekend, walk around the outside, read the history, look at the old jail across the street, and enjoy this unique piece of history. If you can go during the week, it's even better, with stunning design inside, including a classic courtroom, and the great view from the top of the courthouse.

Stopping here while in Marfa to hunt some geocaches walked around the courthouse and downtown a few shops nearby and a couple of good restaurants. There is a hotel there that was in the movie Giant!!!

If you're able-bodied and careful, climb the stairs to the cupola for dramatic views of the Marfa area. (I advise caution due to the lack of railings in some spots.)

Even though it doesn't need the Christmas lights to make it the centerpiece of the town, it was nice to see it decked out .. like so many of our Texas cities and towns do this time of year. To me, the creativity and craftsmanship of the structure is both symbolic or the kind of people who settled this harshly beautiful land and the resolve they must have had to make it not only habitable, but civilized. This is the lesson that we all much keep and live. A great tribute to the many who came before .. and well worth spending time inside and out.

The courthouse is the prominent land mark in downtown Marfa. The building is well maintained and is open to the public. It's worth a quick visit and, if you have a chance, sit in the gallery of the second floor courthouse in the old wooden rows of seats and let your mind wonder about how justice may have been served in West Texas back when.

go to the top floor and check out the 360 degree view of the enite town
fantastic and nicely preserved building still being used today

This building is a treasure. Be sure to climb all the way to the top. It is worth it. The view from the top is beautiful.

The courthouse is beautiful building on the outside but somewhat plain on the inside but make your way up three floors and two more flights of stairs up to the tower to get a great view of marfa and surroundings! No reception or info so you have to find your own way but it's very easy to navigate. It's free!!

you have to climb the courthouse stairs. you must see the view. hey--- there is not much to do in this town so you have to do what is there. it is worth the climb. NOTE: there is an elevator that takes you part way. don't make my mistake. i climbed all the way. i could barely walk the next day. the courthouse is very nice.

Pretty Courthouse, and easily accessible from the main drag in Marfa. We didn't go inside, but it was pretty enough from the outside. The Courthouse isn't in the center of a town square like many Texas towns, but it's more at the "head of the table," so to speak. One of the nicest buildings in town.

Stopped by the square while passing through Marfa and got some good pictures. The courthouse was closed at the time but still worth a look. The area of the town square was very quaint. Most of the "action" (hotels, entertainment, etc.) for lack of a better description appears to be on the south side of the square.

Beautiful historical building right by the Paisano Hotel. We were able to check out the courtroom as well. The lawn around the building is a nice place to walk around and check out the architecture.

It is impossible to miss this lovely court house. An icon of Texas. A MUST visit. Highly recommended.

I guess you have to be in to western history or architecture to appreciate this place. It was an unexpected site in this small town and was interesting to see it. However, after a few moments, I had had enough and wanted to move on.

We visited on a Monday during spring break. The observation room at the top was closed. We wandered around the courthouse floors without seeing anyone. The rotunda is beautiful and interesting. We saw a court room which was classic old style. The visitors center said the view from the top is not to be missed.

You'll really know you're in Marfa when you spot this beautiful icon of a building right in the center of town. Worth a stop and photo op. You can walk your dog around on the grass, legally, I think. They even have some park-supplied poop bags for your doggie.
Beautifully lit at night!

Beautiful old courthouse, which was lit up for Christmas. The courthouse was very easy to find. There was plenty places to park.

You wouldn't want to miss the richly textured interior of this well-preserved building. It's grandeur seems a bit out of character for this modest, retro-style town, but that's it's attraction.

This courthouse is beautiful. It has a lot of precious wood all through it. There is five floors. The courtroom on the 2nd floor is beautiful. The wood is unbelievable on the walls and the ceiling The chandelier is made of metal is a very unique design. This is the only thing to see in Marfa unless you want to see a new hotel which is plain and an art shop. I was very disappointed in Marfa.

Speed Trap Town - Go to: Speedtrap.org. They steal from the Tourist that they try to attract. The trees surrounding the court house make it almost impossible to get a decent photo. The Marfa lights will most likely be the Red and Blue flashing lights as you get pulled over for some ridiculous traffic violation. This place is a Joke!

i have much enjoyed my recent months to help keep this building clean and safely maintained. With most of my life doing custodial work this now is the peak of my odd jobs around town. As a 'social scientist, historian, and all around colorfull character using a bike and cargo trailer to do my dozen clients in Marfa i get the opertunity to talk to visitors when asked for information . But sadly was reminded that maybe i shud direct any inquires to the towns visitor center for answers. Any i hope to Do Gud Deed's and continue to help when asked. We have allot to offer and hope all visitors can leave with a great sense of contentment if not satisfaction. So , Enjoy...

Definitely worth visiting. You can climb to the cupola for a lovely view! An elevator takes you up several floors and you climb the last.

The architecture is iconic and the interior has been restored too. Well worth visiting, particularly the district courtroom.

When strolling thru the town, it's worth the short walk into the old building to see the beautiful staircase and court rooms.
It's old. It's there. You can't miss it.
It's a pretty old court house. Nice architecture and in the middle of downtown Marfa (which isn't saying much- downtown barely warrants the designator 'town'. There is no other reason to go to, unless you want to see some funky art in the middle of nowhere. This town barely warrants a spot on the map.
