We walked the beach, it was pristine and very private. Lots of walkers and cyclists on the paths, but never felt crowded.

Early morning...all day, or an early evening you can’t go wrong!! Whether you swim, tan, pla or walk or inthe sand no matter your age you will have a good time!

It's Free!
There are many beaches to choose from and the views are nice of both the lake and the city.
We went mid-week and avoided the crowds.
Some beaches had lifeguards, many did not.
Be aware that the 75 foot lighthouse closes earlier than the park.

I have been here in the past during the fall, spring and summer.and enjoyed walking the trails and looking out over the lake. My experience this time was in February; I wasn't dressed warm enough to endure the wind off of the lake for more than a few minutes. I managed to enjoy a beautiful sunset and get some beautiful "ice sculpture" pictures.

Such a wonderful place to just go and relax. Its kinda like being on vacation even I live here. The park is kept very clean and there are so many things to do!

Good location to take the family... clean and safe area, the beaches are nice, good place to ride bikes, visit the monument, go fishing, a lot of stuff to do here.

There are always considerations about charging an entrance fee to this state park, founded in 1921, but local politicians are vehemently against it - the park should remain public property and with it the 13 miles (21 km) of roads, the 21 miles (34 km ) Hiking trails and the 13 beach sections are made accessible to everyone during the season.
In May it still felt like it was “out of season”, i.e. few people, a lot of peace.

I have been to Presque Isle at all times of the year--there is always plenty to do and it is very family friendly, with no entrance fee. The park is great for hiking all year round with trails available and the sidewalk path is great for walking! Weather permitting, the park is also biking friendly, with sharing the road. During the summer, bike rentals are available. It is also great year-round for wildlife and bird viewing. During winter, the park is great for viewing ice on the bay and lake, and sometimes for viewing the ferocity of Lake Erie; in the years the bay freezes over, it provides access for ice fishing and other ice-related events. During the spring, you can view the leaves coming out and a great assortment of spring flowers. During the summer, the miles of beaches are great for beach and waterside fun, including kite flying, with ample shelters and picnic tables for events and picnics. During the fall, the changing colors are great to view.
Whether as a family with young children or older children, a couple, a group, or solo, the park has appeal for all!
The two lighthouses on the park grounds are very photogenic and accessible.
You can also stroll the beaches looking for the coveted Lake Erie beach glass.
The sunsets are spectacular!!
The summer Discover Presque Isle festival is a lot of fun, with food and merchandise vendors, sand-castle building, small boat rides, Rotary pancake breakfast, and more.
Photographic opportunities are abundant, both from on-foot and kayak and canoe perspectives.
You can also book boat tours on the Lady Kate near the Presque Isle Monument during the summer.
Restrooms with changing booths and shower facilities, some including food vending, are scattered about the park.
Watch out for poison ivy, though, if you venture off the beaches and paths.
The park is also nearby to the Waldameer Amusement and Water Park and the Tom Ridge Center, for additional fun.
Sara's Restaurant at the entrance to Presque Isle, during its season, is a great place to enjoy a casual, picnic-table meal of burger-type foods with great ice cream and milkshakes before and after your visit to Presque Isle.

The drive through the park is so peaceful. The beaches are mostly fine sand. The sunsets over Lake Erie are awesome. A must do if you are in the Erie, PA area.

The park was the reason we stopped over in Erie while travelling from Michigan to Massachusetts. It's really beautiful, with lovely beaches all around it. Like any such place, it's crowded on a summer's day. I wonder about some small little town beaches that showed up on my google map.

Quiet, beautiful bike ride and beaches were clean and also beautiful! Great day adventure!! Could have stayed longer, but didn’t realize there was so much to see and do.

This has so many places to walk and ride, glad we got to visit twice during our stay. First day we just walked and looked at the monuments and history. Second day, we sat on the beach. We will be back.

Great beaches picnic facilities trails lots of nature lots to do. Fun for all ages. Great sunsets. Activities all summer long

Always enjoy the easy access to beaches with history , views, nature, bathrooms, etc.
Wonderfull walking and bike trail. Plenty of new parking.

Nice beaches for a Northern State in the lake, clear park with beautiful spots to see and chill. There are no restaurants or coffee shops, respecting the beauty of the environment.

We went just to see the lighthouses but feel in love with everything! It’s a must see if you love nature ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We visited strictly to ride the bike trail. We are newbies to bike riding (although not "newbie's in age)! The trail was nice but rough in several areas. Several parts where you share the road with cars. However the speed limit is low for the cars so not a big problem. Maybe it was our unfamiliarity with the trail but felt signage could be better. Seemed like at times we weren't on the actual trail and not sure where we went wrong.

Whether you want a nice scenic drive or a day at the beach, this park is the place to go. Bay views, city views, at least 2 lighthouses that we made it to, and sweeping beaches on the lake. Plus bikes to rent, playgrounds, and much much more. Wander and make your own discoveries!

Brought back memories from many years ago. Great place for a beach outing in PA.
Scenic ride on the circle and lighthouse was a nice attraction.

THis was our first visit to Erie and we loved it. The state park is huge and I look forward to coming back again and will be prepared a bit better. We mostly drove around, walked a little and spent 2 days on the beach. One day the water was very rough and def reminded me of being at the ocean. The waves were that big! We all had a great time playing in the waves and getting tossed around. The Lifeguards were very attentive and paid close attention to what was going on and where people were, especially the day it was rough. They also had to call people in because of being to far out or for being out where they shouldn't be. They were very polite and I think did a really good job. Looking forward to coming back with my bike and kayak.

We spent last weekend at the lake with our dog and can’t say enough about the beauty of Presque Isle! Such a beautiful sunset! We will be heading back again very soon!

We went to Presque Isle on August 3rd, 2025 and were totally disgusted with the beach area. We have been going here for 45 years and have never seen it like this. Dead fish and a horrible stench at beaches 11, 10, and 9 that we never took our chairs out. Also garbage overflowing at all of the dumpsters because of lack of maintenance. So we ended up on beach 8 which is the only beach really open with lifeguards, etc. Everyone was crammed in here because it was the only beach that was maintained at all. Of course dogs everywhere and in the water. This is the most filthy beach and water we have ever experienced. Don't bother visiting here!!

Whether driving, hiking or bicycling, this State Park is a wonderful experience. A great place to picnic or enjoy one of the many beaches. The picturesque lighthouse is a must stop.

Fall is some of the best time to visit Presque Isle. Beautiful views, sports, and nearly empty beaches just calling for a stroll. Don't think the fun is over after Labor Day.

This time of year the park is good for walking, and we took a drive, as well as some cool pics on the beach.

Be cautious of peak times as it can get very crowded. Overall beach conditions perfect. Lifeguards can get a wee bit whistlehappy.

While in town on a nice fall sunny day- rented bikes from the Yellow bike company and rode around the park. The terrain is easy fro riding - mostly all level and plenty places to stop for nice water views and sandy beaches.

We recently learned about this great park and decided to visit. Worth the drive! It’s now one of my favorite places! Loved riding bikes around the park and hanging out on the beach for sunset! We will go back!

Beautiful, loved the entire Park. Plenty of things to do for everyone, from Pap Pap to the little muffins.

You can't pick a better beach destination. Huge Lake Erie, that occasionally sports surfers! Something for everyone; kids, camps, nature trails, picnic groves, kite sailing, snack bars, safe biking and picturesque light house, plenty of life guards and clean sands.

Visited in November on a cold grey day - nice drive along the lake, unfortunately the lighthouse was closed due to Covid, would like to come back in the summer.

Nature ride on pontoon was very informative and peaceful. A litttle hard to find the location, and they fill up fast, so get there very early, or you will have to get in line for the next one. But a free nature educational tour, good for the whole family.

went here for a walk with my husband great area beuatiful location on the water need to visit again soon .

Just took a drive through the park before heading back to our hotel since was a cold windy night. Scenery was beautiful. Wish we saw the lighthouse, but closed at 5pm. Was free to enter the park.

A beautiful place to visit. It's a must see if visiting Erie. The water was nice, and the variety of beaches was a bonus, too.

Absolutely beautiful park. From the smooth bikes trails to the various well-kept beach areas, everything about this area is a wonderful experience. Even the rest rooms are clean and well taken care of. Presque Isle is one of our favorite places to visit in Erie and would recommend it to anyone of any age.

Had a fabulous time kayaking and biking with my wife! The scenery is breathtaking and the people are very friendly!

For someone from the west, it is hard to find much woods or natural habitat in the east. This place comes close, although the trails are paved. Lots of birds and I would like to come back with a local Audubon group. Good view of sailboats. It bit touristy.

Some things never change. I have not lived in Erie since 1968 but this park and the scenery is almost exactly as I remember it only better. The bay side of the peninsula was pretty industrial and the water was polluted back in the day. It is much nicer now.
Well maintained and beautiful. It’s is obvious that the park is well cared for. Just beautiful.

We found beach #8 to be perfect for us. The parking, cleanliness, lifeguards, and other beach goers were all great. Very family-friendly!

This was my first trip to Presque Isle State Park. I rented a bike from The Yellow Bike Company (about $20 for 2 hours) and did a wonderful two-hour bike around the park, stopping for lots of pictures. No entrance fee to the park! Lots of bathrooms. Multi-use trail was pretty flat and made for enjoyable biking. Beautiful water views. Lots of shade.

Our first time to PISP and absolutely loved it! We rode our bikes around the Island and stopped a couple of times to enjoy the beautiful nature. The ride is 13 miles on a paved trail designated for bikes and walking. We packed our lunch since there's no food available. The next evening we headed to beach 7 & 8 with dinner and drinks and enjoyed a beautiful sunset! Stopped for ice cream on our way out at Sarah's. We would definitely recommend this and would do it again!

This is the perfect place for summer activities, including enjoying a day at the beach, exploring, walking, biking, roller skating and best of all, watching the sunset. I highly recommend coming here during the evenings and choosing a beach, because you’ll enjoy such a beautiful sunset!

The weather in mid-September perfect. The water was cool but still warm enough to for our dog to swim and chase sticks. We didn't ride bicycles this time, but the bike paths are fantastic. We will definitely bring bicycles next time. Going after Labor Day was great because we had a lot of privacy as we hiked and walked the beach. Love this place better than the Atlantic beaches.

Catching the sunset at beach 3 was breath taking. The beach is closely monitored by lifeguards, so if you have little ones, you will feel even more comfortable with them in the water. Bayfront was awesome and beautiful too. Walking along the pier to see the yachts and fisherman was beautiful too. This place is amazing!

Stumbled on this gem by accident! Spent two hours admiring the views, beaches, and peacefulness. Numerous walking/biking trails. Well maintained.

There is so much enjoy on Presque Isle. We drove all around the Isle stopping at points of interest, like Perry Monument, light houses, hiking trails, and beaches. There are places to rent bikes, kayaks, canoes, pontoons and other boats.
We hiked out to Gull Point for some birding. The trail starts out on an easy path that leads to a sometimes difficult to follow sandy beach path along Lake Erie and through bushy marshlands to a clearly defined path roped off to protect sensitive wetland habitats. The roughly 3 mile round-trip is well worth it for bird lovers and those looking for an off the beaten path excursion.

Many activities to do. Several nice hotels with pools. Beach at the lake is always fun. Lots of restaurants to choose from as well.

We were driving through the area and decided to visit the park. We weren’t able to enjoy the beaches since it was a chilly day, but the drive was beautiful. What a treasure!

A well-maintained, beautiful area which we discovered both on fat-tyre bikes (so fun!) and by car. Took so many photos!

Stopped by during a road trip. it was beautiful clean and worth a revisit. We'll be going back in the spring of 2021

We have three grown children and our family of five had a wonderful time!! We've already told others they should go here for a visit.
We spent two full days on the beaches and the Bay side.
We wre able to swim and play in the water with plenty of room away from other people so it made it a nice time with just our family and not feeling like we were with a whole group of strangers. We don't like crowded beaches! With 13 beaches to go to it was easy to find one not crowded. There are life guards on duty and you are not allowed to swim until they get there at noon. There is even a beach that has waves big enough to surf. We enjoyed just body surfing in the waves.
We toured the main lighthouse. The $7 fee is worth the view from the top and the history is interesting. The other two lighthouses do not allow you to go inside of them.
We rented jet skis from the Bay side one day and had a blast. The park does not have jet ski rentals but they do offer other boat and bike rentals. There is even a free pontoon boat ride we didn't have time to take advantage of.
We went during Labor Day weekend and it wasn't crowded so I was really impressed!

We visited Presque Isle three times. Our first was to watch the sunset. Very nice. The next morning we did a complete tour of the peninsula stopping to see Perry's monument and over by the Coast Guard station interesting houseboats. We settled for a couple of hours at beach 10 watching the waves and watching a brave parasailor headed east to Buffalo? The next morning we returned, parked near the entrance and walked on the trail next to the bay side. A mostly shady walk next to calm waters watching fishermen wading into the calm water.
A truly wonderful park. And it's free!

Great bunch of folks that make you feel right at home!
Recommend coming to Erie for a getaway and enjoying the park!

This park is a peninsula that juts out over Lake Erie, and is a natural landmark over 3200 acres. The drive into the park is beautiful, many trees and beaches. Boathouses are popular seasonal residences.

We came here the day before the marathon. We went around the park and checked out the beaches, lighthouses, piers, trails and other beautiful areas. There is a great trail system and a place to rent bikes and other things to get around the park. It was a really pretty park and a great place to bring the family.

Took a Lady Kate sunset cruise. Went out to Lake Erie to catch the sunset. On the way out our captain shared the history of Presque Isle and the role Lake Erie plays in the life of residents and wildlife there. Very informative and fun. Great for both adults and kids. Well spent 90 min and we captured the most beautiful sunset.

Went for the Labor Day weekend. Place was packed for the holiday. Took my bike so I could ride the trail around the park. Also took the 90 minute boat tour that showed all of the lighthouses.

lots of trails to walk or bike on. A beautiful spot surrounded by the lake! Lots of beaches to choose from.

Lots of different activities, and beautiful views! Gorgeous park! Great place to go to exercise, enjoy nature, fit in a little history at the Perry Monument, see a lighthouse, go to the beach, have a picnic, or just watch all the activity - the list goes on! Pet friendly areas. Also just makes for a nice drive.

We only had an hour to spend in Erie and this is what people said we needed to see. Two different ecosystems to see: bayside and lakeside. Lake Erie beaches are beautiful sand beaches. Don't miss the Oliver Perry memorial (hero of the War of 1812) and the lighthouses. It was well worth the time.

The park one of the best ever visited. Multiple venues from hiking, ww rafting,
Pontoons, tours… what ever your ask.
Erie waterfront fun but weekdays less open businesses ROMOLO chocolates… do not miss!!

Amazing !!!!!!!!!!! ! Nature at its finest. Bike, beach, fish, walk, rollerblade, picnic, birdwatch, boat, kayak or just relax and take it all in. Something for everyone. It's incredible that the state of Pennsylvania doesn't charge admission to the beautiful peninsula. Days of free entertainment suitable for any family.

Nature at its best this park a the hidden gem of PA. The park is easy to navigate and many private areas to relax if you want to avoid the crowds. My favorite close to home get away

Well kept park! We love coming to visit the park. Great time this past summer with the sand sculpture contest our little peanut won out of her 4 year old age group.

We toured the park by car stopping at several beach areas and at the lighthouse. It was October so not many people were there but it was a warm beautiful sunny day. I am sure it is a beautiful park during any season but it was nice that there were no crowds there. I thought Erie Lake was just breath taking! I would love to go back and visit another time.

We love Erie great place for families couples and pets so much to see and do, we want to go kayaking next time we visit bringing our family and friends .

The water at beach 11 was so dirty with sea grass all over you, foamy water, bird feathers floating in the water ,we left. The next day we tries beach 6 it was a better beach, and of course they all had algee alerts so we spent little time there.

The 8 sandy beaches are awesome…,7 miles of it….the water is blue. Just beautiful…waves coming off Lake Erie it is so large and deep…. Beautiful sunsets Lots of camping in the Erie area…paddle boats and bikes to rent. Lighthouses to see. Boat tours are available for reasonable rates….parry’s luck will be with you!!

All axcess is free, Explore unwind just go for a hike. ALL FREE !!!! There are explore Presque Isle days with so much to see.

This is a beautiful park with many different beaches and trails Although with Covid and the humidity, it probably wasn't as crowded as normal. If not for the little biting flies , it would be perfect.

This review is just about beach 10. We arrived around 9a.m. on a Thursday morning and there were 2 families already there. Plenty of parking. We dragged our gear to our spot by the trees. We had a nice shaded spot. The water was somewhat cold. There are rocks as you get in. Luckily we had our water shoes. The sea gulls and the small waves reminded me of the ocean.
The bathrooms are clean. Flushing toilets and running water. The website says that there is a food and beverage concession but there was no food available. There were vending machines. One of the vending machines had a sign stating that the concession was open at beaches 6,8 and 11.
There was no lifeguard stationed at the beach. There was a lifeguard on a 4 wheeler doing rounds every now and then blowing the whistle and telling beach goers in the water that they should be 10 feet from the shore and to move closer to the shore.
Overall, a good pleasant experience.

Very nice State Park. Scenic and a nice drive. Speed limit is 25 mph and appears to be strictly enforced.

I visited the park for the first time with my nephew in August 2019. Water temp was beautiful. The beaches were not over crowded. It was beautiful and SO much space to explore. I plan to go again when we have more time to see it all.

Enjoyed a day at beach 6 and beach 8 this weekend. Had a great time swimming in Lake. Had no issues parking at either beach. Beach 8 parking lot is less sandy. Both beaches have places to clean off feet. Food stand not open at beach 8.

Presque isle state park is a beautiful place to experience for everyone, whether you’re young or old. You can tour an old lighthouse, rent a boat or fish.

I visit every year and always have a lovely time on the beach and fishing spots. Park is clean and well maintained.

We rode the bike trail, spent time on the beach, and rented kayaks. It was a wonderful weekend getaway. We will definitely be back!

We enjoyed the views while driving onto the peninsula and plan to come back for a fall bike ride on the trail. We noticed that bike rentals are available and look forward to riding along the water and stopping to take pictures. Relaxing on the beach is great and the water is beautiful! The grandchildren loved it too! Also fun to look at the rocks and search for sea glass and driftwood.

Saw both lighthouses and took the tour on one and got a discount to tour the land lighthouse that this one replaced. Very friendly volunteers who run the lighthouse tours. Lots of places to park and go our on the beach.

DIsappointed that there is no swimming in October. Loved the bike rental. Great birds to see, Quiet beaches - plenty of places to sit at tables to do art or read.

What a nice place to visit the beach! We went to beach #8. The sand was soft and there were a few trees to sit under when the sun was too hot. This beach has a nice refreshment stand and nice, clean restrooms. I would highly recommend it! I never realized that we had a beach so close to home.

We really enjoyed our visit to this State Park, which boasts a number of diverse habitats which we really couldn't do justice to on our one day visit. There are plenty of hiking and cycling trails, although our attempts to hike to Gull Point were scuppered by the high water level in the Lake this summer. Instead, we consoled ourselves with a walk to the Perry Monument, which commemorates the US Navy's victory against the British in the Battle of Lake Erie. The peninaula seems to be teeming with wildlife, most notably a wide variety of birds, although we also spotted rabbits, deer and a great many frogs.

We had such a good time at the park today! There is so much to do we couldn’t fit it all in. This park is well maintained and lots of amenities. Being able to disconnect by walking along the beach listening to the waves crashing was priceless. So relaxing looking out into the lake and watching the boats go by.

Nice morning walk and went up into the lighthouse, beautiful day! Small fee for light house but they are restoring the building to it's original look.

We drove around the Isle on August 6th. It is very easy to maneuver and find you way around. The light houses are a real treat.

Very relaxing. A beautiful lake. Lots of scenery and spots to sit and take photos. Very clean. But being your own toliet paper in the fall!

I had the pleasure of giving it 2 complete loops while running the marathon, and the sitting on the beach after I finished.
Its a very nice place to go with family and friends

Spent a wonderful day touring the park. Lots of great biking & walking trails. Took the Lady Kate boat tour around the peninsula where we saw 3 lighthouses. Beaches were great too!

This is Scenic park worth visiting. We did drive-through but a great place to enjoy for a longer visit. Several activities available.

Great place to ride your bike, jog, take walks, picnic or go to the beach. The park is a 13 mile round trip around the lake.

We had no idea! We have not traveled this way, ever, so what a surprise to come across this park on a beautiful summer day. We had plans to check it out but didn't realize all it offered, even with having done some research. We drove in and just enjoyed the tree cover and natural beauty of the area. We chose a spot to pull over and have our lunch and enjoyed watching boats come and go while feeling a lovely summer breeze cool us off. We checked out that Perry Monument and got our own chairs to just sit under some trees and relax for a while. We also stopped at the Lighthouse and toured that. Beautiful views. For us, this was a hidden gem that we discovered.

Only live 1 1/2 hours away and never been here till now. Absolutely wonderful, beaches were very nice. We took a tour on The Lady Kate which gave us a great view of the water and lighthouses. We toured the one lighthouse where you can go to the top. Awesome. There is so many trails and beaches to explore. We will definitely be coming back.

We love everything about Presque. We’ve been coming for decades. The only thing I would change are the bathrooms, especially the beach bathrooms.

We drove around Presque Isle park and saw some beautiful fall colored trees. A concession is located at the Perry Monument, but we didn't go. Presque Isle park is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset. Allow at least 2 hours. They're are many places to pull off the road to take in Lake Erie and the beaches. We stopped at one of the beaches which was very peaceful.

We wanted to see the lighthouse and took the drive onto the peninsula (the speed limit is low so don't be in a hurry!).
The grounds were well kept and there is a small gift shop where you buy your entry ticket for the lighthouse.
FYI- The parking is just off-site.
Enjoy

We loved exploring up here and observing wildlife. The lake was the perfect spot for a nice picnic and it was fairly quiet as well!

My husband and I enjoyed riding our bikes on the path here. It’s mostly flat and paved the whole way. Afterwards, we tried to find a beach to go to. It was a Sunday afternoon and beaches 8-11 were jam packed with people to the point where it was not enjoyable to be there and swim. After some driving around, we found beach 1, which was sparsely populated and exactly what we were looking for. Although it was rocky, we enjoyed swimming and sunbathing there. We unfortunately did not get to view a sunset here, but I heard they are awesome if it isn’t super cloudy.

Discovered that Presque Isle State Park offers a free pontoon boat tour hosted by park staff. Went with friends for a midday tour and really enjoyed the experience. Got to see some wonderful wildlife up close as well as some park history. The captain and tour guide were knowledgeable and friendly. Looking forward to going again next year.

Always fantastic. Clean and beautiful. Also, taco truck run by federal hill bbq. Came across a beach with a lot of exotic kites. It was great. Took videos so cannot put in photo.

We walked out to the beach after picking up our packers for the Erie marathon. It is a cute little beach.

Presque Isles - In the summer you have the beach to enjoy the sun and the lake. All year round you can walk the nature trails and ride the bike path.

wonderful park rented bikes and went for a ride on the trail; thought the woods very relaxing and peaceful walked by the water watched people fish we will go back again

This park is beautiful and clean. Crowded, but not uncomfortable. The path is well maintained. Get your PA park passport stamp at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. You can rent paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, bikes and more. The beaches are clean and easy to get to. The water levels were very high while we were there. Even if you don't go to the beach, you can easily spend 3-4 hours here. NOTE: All PA State Parks are free to residents and non-residents. Wear your masks inside buildings.

Awesome visit. 2 lighthouses. Plenty of parking and picnic areas. Beautiful beaches. Loved seeing the sail boats. Also had handicap parking. Great trails. Bike / walking lane. Super awesome vibes.

Very nice park with lots of things to do. Beaches are very nice and natural. A quiet, shady spot with a lovely breeze was what we experienced on our visit. Also, had a nice hike through the woods.

A great state park with 11 different beaches, many with facilities, and each with their own vibe. Also bike paths and hiking, lighthouses and attractions and all free.

Some great lake shore beaches at many spots. A couple of good lighthouses and the Perry monument; all good stops. Lots of trails for hiking and bikes. Lots of interesting people!

We drove around the park and stopped at several placed to check out things of interest. If we lived locally we'd spend much more time here, we love it.

Very peaceful and relaxing . Nice place to just get away from everyday turmoil. Saw wildlife in their own habitat, beautiful!

A very nicely maintained PA state park, with lots of beaches and plenty of parking, We were there on a calm day and couldn't get the grandliks out of the water....great swimming (when clam).
We went back and second day when the water was choppy and wouldn't let the kids near the water, but flying kites was perfect.

Great paved trail that is well marked through the park. Beautiful views of the bay and Lake Erie. Cute places to eat near the park entrance.

Beautiful state park discovered! Miles of easy paths for walking or biking. We rented bikes in the park and toured around for several hours. Plenty of areas to stop for a break and get a coke. Be sure to stop at Presque Isle lighthouse. Would recommend renting bikes in the park for touring. The only thing missing was our picnic basket.

For the most part... The drive through was peaceful... Some people drive way to fast. The bikes think they own the road.

Nice quiet relaxing park that’s easy to get around and has plenty to see. It’s a clean and pleasant place to spend a few hours.
If you are within an hours drive, make it happen

The drive is slow but scenic. A great place to take a long walk. It is congested and crowded so be careful

Since Covid is still a very crazy thing, we elected to stay away from the crowded beaches and go see the lighthouse.
We had a nice walk and kept our social distance.
The beaches were WAY TO CROWDED and we felt we weren't taking the risk. However they did look to be nice beaches.

My family & I visited here on August 21 and 22nd. On the 21st, we stopped at beach 8 pettinato beach. We hadn't brough our swim clothes but the kids loved getting their feet wet. We walked the beach. There are waves, just like at the ocean. There are changing rooms, bathrooms and concession stands at the beaches. Concession was not open on beach 8 when we were here, but it said beach 6 was open. They had lifeguards on duty as well.
On august 22nd, we visited the other side of the isle and fished. We fished at the west pier. Nobody seemed to be catching anything but it was rainy. There is a bathroom on west pier. There is also lots of grass and some picnic tables. Would be a great place for a picnic.

Beautiful Area to explore for Everyone. We live about 3 hrs away and went there for the day ...of course it’s not long enough. Many hotels & restaurants around the peninsula..
We drove back the peninsula and stopped often to see as much as possible ...Restrooms were plentiful. We saw them at every Turn.
Both the bay side and the lake side are quite interesting.
Yesterday weather was great but the winds were heavy on the Bay side and very calm on the beach side.
No crowds yesterday 9-3-20.
You can visit the marina too.
We walked along the beach for a few miles. There are great bike paths..
There’s a lot of history at this park.
Very worth the trip.

This beautiful state park is a MUST VISIT when going to the Erie area. The beaches are clean, the facilities are top notch. Loved visiting the different lighthouses, make sure you climb at the Presque Isle lighthouse. Enjoy!

Every state park is unique in its own way. We enjoyed the beauty of this area and walking on the beach. One helpful idea- dont charge for touring the light house..instead charge a flat rate of $10 per car to enter the park and keep the lighthouse free.

If I lived in this area, I would be here all the time. There are so many places to picnic, walk the beach, fish, fish or just hang out. It’s a beautiful peninsula. I really hope to be back. Enough space for a lot of people with 10 beaches. The bathrooms at the light house were very nice. Impressive park.

Came about 7pm and watched sunset slowly into the horizon. Great clean beach with plenty of room to roam and explore! Clean bathrooms We were unable to visit the lighthouse that we were hoping to see but it was ok. 2 and 4 year old with us it was fun for everyone!

Due to the nasty weather we weren't able to take advantage of beaches, but what we saw was amazingly beautiful. Even saw a wild turkey!

My husband and I came to Erie for a week. Usually, we’d only spend a day at one attraction and move on. We endes up spending almost every day of our trip on the Isle; there was just so much to do there!

My wife is a Pittsburgher, who spend her childhood at Prequel. I've grown to love it. Go to beach 9 on the weekends. It's dog friendly, and the craziest kites ever seen. If you go on one of the many boat tours, take a sunset cruise, you will thank me. Minerals on the water make the sky purple. A day trip from Pittsburgh, but please spend the night

I'd planned to be here two years before the solar eclipse happened, even though I'd never been to Erie before, and, know what, it WAS the best place to be for the eclipse.
The peninsula is miles long and has several parking areas and great views on the bay side and the Lake Erie side. The lanes and bicycle/hiking trails are in great shape and very clean.
When we experienced the eclipse we enjoyed the whole range of experiences: the wind rose, the water got choppy, the birds began to gather to roost in the trees and the light was unreal - then totality. Wow! This was the best place for the eclipse.
We spent 3 days in Erie and Presque Isle is just the coolest thing. If I were here in the summer I'd be here AND in neighboring Waldimeer Amusement Park AND the Tom Ridge Environmental Center AND at Sara's hot dog stand - all right by the entrance.
Cool park, cool city, excellent time!

Beautiful views, lots to do this was out first time there so spent much of the time just surveying and investigating what is there. Will return

The beauty of the bay area and Erie can be seen from this park .The perry monument area at the end of the state park offers great picture opportunity. We had a nice drive after eating at Sara's on peninsula to the monument .The area looks like it gets flooded easily since the water seems to be all the way to the edge of the road .

This is a great state park. Really big for a state park. Lots of beaches and trails for biking and hiking. The history of the park is documented with signs and monuments. It was very interesting and really a clean park.

Easy to spend time here - several activities to do.
Beach’s were beautiful ! Such a nice place to hang out. Not sure I saw anywhere to purchase any food & drink, so best be prepared. Washroom facilities at the ‘open for swimming’ beaches need a more regular attendance. The boat tour was only $20 for 90 minutes tour - which I felt was pretty good value. It’s a really nice drive if you just want to pass through. Well worth a visit - very well managed park.

This state park, located on a peninsula in Lake Erie, by Erie, Pennsylvania, was a nice place to visit. The speed limit keeps things at a slow pace, and in some places there is a one way loop. Great views of the lake and Erie too, and some nice beaches. There is also a place to view turtles, a monument to Admiral Perry, trails, and lighthouses to visit. Entrance is free. Restrooms are well located by many beaches and places of interest.

My husband and I, with our 2 kids (8 & 10), planned to stop at Presque Isle for a late afternoon visit…we loved it so much, we came back the entire next day!
There is a ton to do here, but it can get very busy. We did a 2 hour pontoon boat rental, and spent lots of time at the beach. There are a variety of beaches, and they get crowded quickly-get there early to get a parking and beach spot! The water wasn’t too cold in early August, even though it wasn’t super hot outside. Sand was great to play in too. There were bathrooms at our beach, as well as showering/rinse off stations. It’s not the cleanest, but nice to have.
From what we could tell, there isn’t any food or drink sold in the park, so make sure you have enough when you get there-leaving the park and coming back would take some time.
We loved the pontoon boat, but would recommend renting the larger sizes for longer than 2 hours. It takes a little bit of time to get in and out of the rental area which eats into your “boating” time.
We also saw bike and surrey rentals, which we would have like to have done, but we ran out of time. Lots of people are at the park just to walk/jog/ride bikes-it’s a busy place!

Beautiful place to visit. Great place to be on a hot day. Lots of beaches, some with concessions. More than a few interesting places to visit and things to do and see on Presque Isle and nearby

Beautiful park with lots to do. Plenty of trails, nice beaches, picnic shelters, beach volleyball courts and a lot more. This was our second time visiting and we plan on coming back again soon.

Multiple sandy beaches. No entrance fee. Some beaches have concession stands with hot sandwiches. Most have changing rooms with bathrooms.

Came to see the sunset and we were not disappointed!!! It was a bit chill but beautiful scenery and wonderful breezes!!!

Traveling up one side of the peninsula and back the other you pass about 15 beaches
Some have sand volleyball, some have kayak and boat rentals, some have concessions and changing rooms, picnic tables.
Clean sandy beaches
Grab a towel and go for it!

My husband and I decided one day to take a ride to Presque Isle State Park in PA as we have heard so much about it and its less than a 2 hour drive from our house in West Seneca NY. I alsways thought it was just hotels and a casino.....WOW was I wrong.
It is free to enter the park which is nice most state parks charge you to enter a vehicle fee from $5 to $20 dollars
As we drove in, we couldn't believe how pretty it is tons of people walking, biking, out in kayaks having picnics etc. As we drove farther in you seen boats little islands you can drive around, a cute little diner and then we seen signs that said Beach #1, Beach #2 etc etc all the way up to Beach #13. So we were curious we parked got out of the car at several different beaches.....we were SHOCKED to say the least !!!
Each beach is different, some are more kid friendly, some have more shade, some have bigger waves, some are all sun so you have your pick of which one you want to go to. We liked #6 and #13 each beach also has a restroom building which is so nice that you do not have to use a porta potty while at the beach, some even have a shower out front to wash off in before you get back in your car.
We were so impressed at the clean beaches we went home and rented an AIRBNB for 4 days and went back 9 days later to stay so we could have our BEACH VACATION close to home since we haven't been to Mexico since before the pandemic and we really miss the beach life. It was a great replacement and safe, close to home.
We have now decided this will be a yearly trip for us. They also have a full water park right outside the Presque Isle Park called Waldemeer Park and Water World if you have little ones or even adults that love the sun abnd water slides and tubes, it looked like people were having a blast.
Can't wait to go back, lots to experience especially if you love walking and biking

Winter time drive was amazing. The view was incredible. I would recommend.! Will be back in the summer!!

Not the Caribbean but very relaxing. We come here for at least couple days most summers with family.

Presque Island beach makes for a wonderful place to take a walk, read a book, collect shells, or to enjoy a picnic on the beach. Additionally, one can jog, or ride a bike on the roads just behind the beach. In closing, Presque Island beach is a great place to unwind.

One of the most visited state parks in the US. Stay for the sunset! So much to do and see! Bring a bike, a fishing rod or kayak. Or just walk along the beach and look for glass!

This park visitor’s center is in the Tom Ridge Education Center. They do a great job interpreting the importance and history of the park. I would like to revisit this park on a dry day and explore the outdoor areas in greater detail. We had a soaker of a day! The diverse ecosystem of the park is very interesting.

Enjoyed our trip through Erie. We came at the end of the season so there was less happening and there was no swimming allowed due to the toxic algae bloom, but we spent a large chunk of our time in the park. We had a couple of picnic lunches and enjoyed a stroll along the path. I wish we would have brought our bikes. The rental place seemed to be closed even though the open flag was out. We watched a gorgeous sunset from one of the beaches. I would definitely go back, but probably earlier in the season when the algae isn't as much of an issue.

This is a gorgeous park with walking, hiking & biking trails. 11 different beaches so room for everyone.

First time visitors to the park. We absolutely loved it. We are PA state park enthusiasts and this one did not disappoint. So wonderfully different from the rest. I do believe it may have been the first week back to school for the local communities and perhaps that was in our favor. Great variety of activities for all ages and activity levels. Ample parking and restroom/changing facilities. Glorious sunsets over the lake. The rocky sand is a little rough on the feet but nothing a pair of water shoes wouldn't remedy. We rented a Surry at the Yellow Bike rental and took a sunset cruise on the Mary Kate. Other park visitors were respectable and responsible save for some trash left here and there. Encountered congestion at the entrance, at Sara's, but otherwise didn't incur a lot of car traffic. Beach #8 was our personal favorite. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Presque Isle State Park. Never would have imagined eastern PA lake beaches to be anything comparable to ocean beaches in our southern states but I am very impressed!

The free pontoon ride is educational and fun! They give you binoculars to use and tell you what to look for, tell the history of the area and point out things you might not know to look for! It is a busy hopping place in the summer! Camping and bike rentals (even little peddle carts for rent that look like fun( although we didn't rent this time). The beaches are well kept and lifeguards on duty most places. Nice area to visit and we will definitely go back over and over!

Presque Isle is a well maintained park with great views of Lake Erie and the sandy beaches were like paradise

The park is quite large. We were unable to ride bike due to an injury, but the bike path looks very inviting. It is a beautiful park. There are lots of places to park to view the shoreline or to make use of the beaches. We especially enjoyed the 2 lighthouses in the park. The Perry Memorial was very interesting. Due to the COVID shutdown we were unable to experience the lagoon pontoon rides and the Lake Erie cruises. Both sound like great activities.

A beach close to home! When we were craving beach time, we took a road trip to Presque Isle Beach, and were not disappointed! Plenty of sand to sit on, make sandcastles, swim. The view of the gorgeous, sparkling water from the sun and the birds walking nearby on the edge of the water made this place an absolutely wonderful vacation spot or road trip stop. We will definitely be returning!

Presque Isle off the coast of Pennsylvania is a beautiful spot to relax and take in all that is Lake Erie. On several of the beaches there are lifeguards. Be sure to plan ahead if you would like to climb up to the top of the lighthouse, there are set times allotted. Shoes are a must when walking along the beach because there is a lot of driftwood on the sand, but in general the sand is powdery and soft. There are a few concession stands around the island but be creative and pack a picnic lunch and find a secluded spot to enjoy! There are also places to rent bikes, kayaks, and paddle boards. Ample parking at most of the beach locations. Bring your own umbrella or tent if you want some shade, there are not a lot of shady areas close to the water on the beach.

Very nice State Park with nature trails and beaches! We went to the Perry Monument and walked our dog on the beach. We enjoyed the views of Lake Erie and Erie!

When visiting Erie Pa, Presque Isle State Park is a must. Boasting 11 sand filled beaches and sunsets that are something that will aw you, make sure you have your camera close by. Some of the best fishing in Pa is done in Presque Isle from the piers. Along with a paved bike trail, light house, fishing ponds and picnic shelters, don't forget to bring along a bag of charcoal and your favorite hot dogs and burgers. If you forgot your bike or boat, no worries as both are available for rent along with kayaks. A free trip is available to tour the lagoons by pontoon boat in the summer months but you must reserve it in advance. Great place to spend the day, weekend or week if you have the time. Enjoy.

We could see the park from out hotel window and were thrilled to be able to drive over. The park is quite diverse in activities. We saw many people fishing, from the docks, shore and boats as well as paths for runners and walkers and cyclists. Beaches are available during warm weather. There is a monument and lighthouse to explore as well as seeing all the wildlife.

I found a secluded part of the beach overlooking Lake Erie. It was peaceful and relaxing. Other parts of the park had construction in progress so not quite as relaxing. This park seems best suited for families.

Absolutely beautiful state park. It has everything for a magical day. Swimming in pristine beach areas, kayaking biking, hiking, rollerblading, relaxing, and lighthouses. It has free entry. It's open from dawn to dusk. There seems to be plenty of parking wherever you want to stop including restrooms that are nicely maintained. We enjoyed visiting the Bay Area where you can see driftwood and along the back Waters where you can see water lily pads and geese with their little ones.

We were amazed at the size and the beauty of this park. It was well used and enjoyed, but didn't feel crowded. We enjoyed the beaches and the lighthouse. It would be a great place to bike.

Presque Isle is as close to feeling like your at the ocean with out being at the ocean. You can also bike, and walk. We rented a bench bike and my daughter love it.

I love this park. On one side you have the bay and the other side the lake. There are paved trails where you can walk thirteen miles of flat easy walking.

I can honestly say I never knew this gem was amazing.
There are many beach areas from life guarded to “ no swim “ areas, it is all what your looking for.
Make sure you take a day or two and explore the park!!

Great park for a picnic, hiking, biking, boating and swimming. Don't forget to visit the Perry monument and lighthouse. Worth the trip from anywhere!

The weather was surprisingly cold for Memorial Day so we only drove around the park. It looks very nice with extensive biking/walking trails. There's a lighthouse, picnic areas, marshes. It has a nice view of downtown Erie.

Went to Erie (2hrs.from Buffalo) to basically hit the beaches at PI State Park. What a great relaxing time. Park was free which was a pleasant departure from NY. Beaches, there were LOTS of them are well maintained. We opted for beach #9. Quiet and very relaxing. Lots of other TTD while at the park like the lighthouse and Perry Monument which I'll cover in other reviews. Make a day of it !

Nice sandy beaches with decent facilities. Good place for a picnic or a swim, walk, biking, fishing, boat ride. Very much the highlight of the city.

Views are great. Walking and biking trails. Went for a walk along one of the many beaches. Went fishing up near Perry Monument. If you are in Erie, visit here and enjoy the scenery and peaceful atmosphere.

Beach 11 was recommended by the park service for small children due to the calmer water and softer sand. All true. Though there was about 3 feet of washed up grasses at the water edge that made it impossible for the kids to play in the water. So... Park amenities included dressing room ,outdoor shower, and restroom which were clean and nicely maintained!

We very much enjoyed visiting Presque Isle State Park. We drove all around the Park. We especially enjoyed the trip on Lady Kate. I recommend it to anyone who visits there. A young lady named Lisa was the Spokesperson. She was very knowledgeable and spoke for almost 90 minutes. The speaker she wore around her head kept cutting in and out but she repeated information when it did.

An absolute must see when going to Erie we went to sunset beach and it was quite beautiful unfortunately it was a bit chilly and windy but that didnt take away from our time there I highly recommend going there and making sure you see the sunset from the beach it was wonderful.

Well maintained paved (asphalt) trails with mileage indicators, with good scenery and nice views of the waterfront and Erie. The weather cooperated and we experienced a very enjoyable walk.
We did not use the beach areas (too cool), but they looked excellent also.
Lots of parking available.

This is a great place to drive or bike around. It is a peninsula park that has paved roads & bike trails. A lot of beaches & grilling picnic places. Misery Bay is found here, so history as well. Would highly recommend. Free to visit.

Huge state park with lots of beaches. Great spot for the tall ship festival. Good rv park there. Will go back

This park is very nice and is free to get in as well. There are numerous beaches, trails, lighthouses and bike lanes to ride on a real treasure of a park that should no be missed.

We stopped here for the afternoon on our way to Niagara Falls. It was a great place to hike around and check out the lake. Could have spend many more hours at this location! We really enjoyed the lighthouse.

nice lifeguarded beaches, clean, but sand was not the kind you find at the ocean more gravely, they have nice charcoal grills and picnic tables right at the beach to use for free some shaded areas, water seemed clean, roads in the park get flooded and it is along drive around the park nice bicycle paths off the road and rentals available, there are placed to eat in the park also

13 beaches. Great outdoor activities. View of lake erie breathtaking. We rented a 4 person surray....it is harder than we imagineed but fun.

I am wondering why a park as beautiful as Presque Isle has let its trails become not useable. The mixed trails for biking are good, but side trails are washed out, not mowed or cared for
We had to turn sround on 3 trails, a bridge boardwalks needed. Presque Isle is run down from 10 years ago

Presque Isle has something for everyone. It’s beautiful, a great place to walk, run or bike...you can rent canoes at the lagoon, go have ice cream at Sara’s, lay around at the beach or hunt for beach glass. There’s even a historic lighthouse, birds and a bay and lake side for variety in plants and animals. If you are a photographer, Erie is a great place to take beautiful pictures.

A fun detour on our road trip. I wish we had planned more time. It seems to be about a 20 mile scenic drive thru here but we did not allow enough time. We just drove in a few miles, went to the lighthouse (buy your tix in the building in the parking lot).

We stopped here for a break on a road trip. We landed on beach #6. The parking lot was about half full. The beach was fairly crowded by the parking lot but we just walked down a little way and were out of the crowed. This beach had trees and we just threw some towels down and took a quick nap under the trees listening to the sound of the waves crashing into the sandy beach. The beach and water were clean and free from trash. We enjoyed our short time on the beach. The little bit we saw of the park was beautiful and very well maintained.

If you enjoy birdwatching and wildlife viewing, this is the place to be. The highlights center on spotting the various types of herons and other bird species throughout the park. There are dragonflies, turtles, and more. If insects bother you, wear bug spray. Binoculars, a scope, zoom lens, and mucking boots may be helpful. Bring water and snacks, as you may be there for a while. Do not feed the wildlife. There are plenty of available restrooms throughout this state park. Admission is free.

This is why you come to Lake Erie - what a jewel. Lots of beaches, many with clean bathrooms, washing stations, food and lifeguards. Lots of wooded areas for picnics or hiking. Both sides - Bay and Lake - are lovely!

Presque Isle State Park is a natural treasure that people in western PA take for granted. There is a large variety of plant life and animal life that is highlighted by a visit to the Tom Ridge Center on top of the hill at the beginning of the entrance to the peninsula. There are wonderful bike, hiking, and walking trails throughout the area. Fishing is great, especially in the bay area. There are also numerous beautiful beaches with picnic shelters for family events. There is also a water taxi with several stops including the peninsula itself. People can rent bikes and different type of boats by the hour for personal enjoyment. Don't miss Sara for fine quick foods and great tasting desserts.

We took only a driving visit to the park because of cold and wind but enjoyed it very much. Great views on the city and lake sides of the peninsula. I also enjoyed the Perry Memorial and the information placards at the point where the memorial is located.

We live about 90 minutes from Erie and took advantage of a late summer day to visit a park we had passed by several times over the years without stopping. We were glad we did.
Presque Isle is more of a peninsula that shelters the fresh water harbor in Erie, PA. It's easy to get here from I-79 or I-90. Right outside the park there is a water/amusement park (that appeared to be closed due to the pandemic) and lots of smaller shops and restaurants catering to those visiting this park.
The park itself is several square miles covered with bike trails, paths, and wildlife preserves. There are many, many beaches with ample parking all around. We had no trouble with social distancing on what was an extremely nice, if a little cool, day.
We thought the park was clean and well-kept. The beach we visited, for example, was much cleaner than the Mentor Headlands state park in Ohio, about an hour or so to the west. We saw lots of wild birds, including herons, geese, and ducks, as well as many people fishing both from boats and shore.
You can rent bicycles here, as many others did and there are all kinds of facilities such as a sand volleyball court, picnic areas, etc.
The isle is also historically significant. Many of the bodies of water have dangerous sounding names back from a time when all kinds of dangers lurked in the area. I recall "Misery Cove,"and "Graveyard Pond," both of which are very nice today. At the north tip of the island, there is a monument to Oliver Hazard Perry, who won the battle of Lake Erie during the war of 1812. It is much smaller than the one on South Bass Island west of Cleveland, but still a nice part of the park in which it sits. They also have plaques on Erie's industrial heritage and you can city the Erie skyline, such as it is, from various point in the park.
We spent about 3 hours here and very much enjoyed our time.

Nice place to stop and rent a bike, kayak or just sit at a beach (13 in total).
Took a boat tour and was about 90 minutes low and gained allot of information about Presque Island

Lots to do and see. Miles of nature trails, good for walking, biking, fishing, sun bathing and swimming. Clean beaches, clean bath facilities. Lots of spots to grill and picnic for couples, families and large groups. Has a lighthouse for touring, a nature center, monument. Can take boat chuttles to the bayfront. Just a great place.

Intention was to spend an hour on two, but ended up spending most of the day. The non paved trails are beautiful but buggy. Beaches are lovely

Beautiful, peaceful, quite, wooded park with lots of paths for biking and walking. Lots of wonderful sand beaches. We didn't have much time to explore other than walking on a couple of the beaches, seeing the Perry Monument, seeing the outside of the Presque Isle Lighthouse (it wasn't open by the time we had to leave), walking out to the North Pier Lighthouse, and just driving around. Definitely a place to spend time at. We were there early in the morning and hardly saw anyone, but by the time we were leaving a lot of cars were coming in.

A great place to be! Bike trails, hiking, beaches, lighthouse, fishing, boating, bird watching, nature, and picnic areas!!! Spend the day or a few hours bring your lunch or grab one at Sara's on the way in. We love it here. Visit Perry Monument and watch the boats catch a glimpse of the old Niagara sailing vessel. Perfect for families too!

Visited Presque Isle in Erie, PA with close friends. We were amazed by the beautiful sunsets we viewed on beach 9. Most relaxing and fun filled vacation I've had in years. So many things to do at this beautiful park.
We rented out bikes and enjoyed the tunnel of trees during our ride.
We took a relaxing boat tour of the bay and marveled at all of the wild life along the wooded shore. They say it's one of the best places for bird watching! If you like to relax on a beach and take in the sun, fish, enjoy a casual walk along a beautiful walkway, or just enjoy the water, watch people flying kites, this is the place to visit.

We visited after the high season and just wandered around to scout out a future visit. The lighthouse was a delightful stop and worth the time to climb. The bike paths were well used and we want to go back to use them. Grab some food before you get to the island though.

The day we were there was a bit overcast so we drove and stopped several places for pictures. The drive is filled with natural beauty. There is a walking/bicycle path that parallels the road. We stopped and made enjoyed the view of Erie and the marinas. We stopped at Presque Isle beach. It look like an ocean beach since you can't see the other side. The Presque Isle Lighthouse was closed but you can stop and get close enough to get good pictures. It was a very enjoyable drive. There were some open rest rooms. We plan to visit in the summer to maybe catch some rays on the beach!

Very scenic drive surrounded by trees throughout the isle. Plenty of beaches with semi-soft sand along most of the isle. Plenty of picnic and shelter areas. Activities for families and anybody alike. Lighthouse is interesting to go up into and cost is about $8. Can spend a lot of time at this state park!

Visited the park in September. It was just beautiful. Places to eat , trails. Also visited the Lighthouse center/ gift shop.

Better than the ocean. No sharks, jellyfish, sticky salt water, red tide, much shorter drive, no crowds!
Beautiful, relaxing, sometimes good waves to jump in( time of day, weather?)
Plan to go back next summer!

We were out on a business trip in the middle of the week and my meeting got canceled because of COVID. We decided to enjoy the sunshine today instead of just going back home and we drove out on the peninsula for Presque and ended up spending an hour walking the beach. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much out of the shores of Lake Erie but the sunshine and the calmness of the lake was just what we needed to escape the stress of the economic downturn, if only for a short time.

Beautiful! It was very chilly when we were there, so we did not get to swim or spend much time. We would love to go back.

Have been coming here for 50+ years for family fun..and will continue to return again & again! The sparkling water, sandy beaches, & waves are always a treat! We have always enjoyed the Short Jetty beach but this time enjoyed Beach 6 very much. Come early if you need a picnic table and/or a shaded spot. Life guards do a great job. On this trip there was a very big dead fish afloat in the water. Without being told, the Lifeguard saw the smelly problem, & with a shovel, waded out retrieved the fish & removed it. Very much appreciated this & that the beaches are very well clean of debris. Considering that hundreds of folks visit the beaches, this means that they are committed to keeping them clean for all to enjoy!

Beautiful place! Just happened to find this place on a country drive we will def be here a lot more especially during the summer. Lots of beaches trails and beautiful scenery .

Presque Isle State Park is a beautiful park for a drive and to spend some time in. There are many beaches to check out and points of interest. The drive through the park is very nice.

We very much enjoyed our drive through the park. Pretty sure we didn't miss any roads open to the public.
We did spend some time wandering Bundy Beach seeing very few people along the way. It was a great spot to walk with a dog.
The lighthouses and gift shop are currently closed, which, although expected, was disappointing. But you can still wander close and take a photo.
The floating houses near the tip on the peninsula were unexpected and intriguing.

This is the gem of Erie! Beautiful beaches and picnic areas, bicycle and boat rentals, walking paths...every season is gorgeous. A must see when visiting Erie!

Windsurf, kayak, paddleboard, swim, fish, jog, bike, walk, etc...so much to do.
The best part about this is you have access to beaches that are supervised, or you can roll the dice and go an unsupervised beach. The bonus of the unsupervised is you can play sports games in the water, throw the ball for your pet, etc...including taking a pop up tent and just hanging out for hours.
Park is HUGE...and if one beach is crowded just go to the next. There are tons of spots to park and hit the water.
Most have open concessions as well, with reasonably priced items.
Highly recommend visiting.

I visit this park often sometimes with just my spouse, sometimes with guests, often with grandkids. Great hiking trails, Great beaches. Camping, Waldemeer, and restaurants can be found near the entrance.

We drove from Pittsburgh to Erie to rent bikes and ride around Presque Isle State Park. Although COVID-19 is in effect, we were still able to safely rent bikes to ride around in. We both needed an experience like this, ion spite of the pandemic. Beautiful scenery.

The whole park from one end to the other is kept in terrific shape.Staff are freindly and knowledgeable.Facilities are very clean and accessible to the disabled.Really good experience with kids.

I just wanted to dip my toes in Lake Erie, the water was very warm. This is a fantastic State Park. The next day we went back for a lighthouse boat tour, absolutely beautiful lake.

Take a ride. Take a hike. Paddle. Fish. Swim. Enjoy the beach. Bird watch. Presque Isle is a unique park among the state parks. Totally worth whatever you’re after. Take a stroll.

Visited the last weekend of August. This park has it all: beaches/swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, bicycling, picknicking, lighthouses, monument/history, etc. There is literally something for everyone at Presque Isle. Entrance to the park is free, but they accept donations. After making a donation, I received a map which was helpful at illustrating all the trails, beaches, boating/fishing areas, etc. I toured the Presque Isle Lighthouse which cost $10, but had historical exhibits that I viewed before walking to the top. The other lighthouse - the North Pier Light - is not available for tours, but can be viewed from the pier on which it sits. The Perry Monument is within an easy walk to the parking lot and commemorates Oliver Hazard Perry's successful defense of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. There are multiple trails throughout the park and they are easy to walk or bicycle as they are all on level ground. The park offers many parking areas and pull over areas to either walk to beaches, picnic areas or other points of interest. But, the park gets very crowded on the weekends, so plan accordingly and consider going during the week if you have that option. Also, if you can, plan to spend more than 1 day at this place because there are so many outdoor activities to do that you will want to spend more time here.

My wife and I visit every summer for many years. We have come in each season over the years. We absolutely love the area. The beaches are many. As I recall like 10 different ones. Some are waveless some have waves just take your pick. The water is pretty clear and clean. We enjoy setting under an umbrella and reading. Occasionally I go in for a swim. It’s a wonderful property and only 5 hours from me.

In a vicious effort to intimidate beachgoers, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has installed motorized patrols on the beaches of Presque Isle. There have been several accidents where children have been run into by these Chips on ATVs that race down the beaches, presumably looking for criminals on the beach, which there are none. Imagine yourself at your most vulnerable, in a bathing suit, while an ATV whizzes by only inches from your blanket. Parents need to be very careful about letting young children run about on the beach, as the ATVs drive fast and have run into people. The drivers are in full uniform, like policemen, and wear sunglasses so you cannot see their faces. It has become a dangerous place for no reason, and these motorized patrols have ruined a pleasant relaxing beach experience for all who come to Presque Isle. It is a very sad state of affairs.

Presque Isle State Park was great. My family walked the beaches and explored the 2 lighthouses as well as the Perry Monument. There were many kinds of animals to see and the beaches were clean and well-supervised. You could rental a bike or water trike there. The biking path wound around the island. My daughter and I collected beach glass on Beach 1 and had fun walking along the sand.

Presque Isle is just a beautiful place to go and ride your bike or drive around. There are many beaches for you to visit. Today I went on a pontoon ride that is actually free. The guide and the ship's Captain were wonderful. I would highly recommend a visit to this park and a pontoon boat ride if you can get it in before September 7th which is the last day.

Historical area of Erie, PA and Lake Erie. Beautifully maintained park and eco systems. Geese, ducks, herons, turtles. Beaches, walking and biking paths, picnic areas and benches in strategic restful spots. Kayaks, bikes and pond rides for rent. Nice view of Erie, PA. Monument to Commodore Perry on Isle point. Clean restrooms an extra plus.
Great amusement park and campgrounds close to park entrance.

Your experience will vary depending on the weather and day of the week you visit. We had sunset beach entirely to ourselves on a weeknight after an afternoon thunderstorm. Over the weekend we had to share this same beach with dozens of others. We enjoyed a hike on the sidewalk trail but be prepared for ticks... they are everywhere. Most of the other trails were under water during our visit as lake levels were reportedly several feet above normal.

Fun and free place to visit. Beaches are clean, and there are rest rooms nearby. Also lots of history here with the Admiral Perry monument. Beautiful views of both the bay (boats!) and ocean front from the park.

We spent part of a long weekend wandering around this very beautiful park. The grounds are kept very nice. Lots of parking, many trails and walks to explore. Beach access was easy. Overall nice stop on our trip.

This is a beautiful park. Water and beaches were very clean. The only problem we encountered were the life guards not being consistent with their rules. They would scold people for something and then other people would do the same thing and nothing was said to them. The unguarded beaches are not to be used for swimming. I do not understand why they are not just a swim at your own risk beach then. Life guards still come down and scold everybody for being in the water because people tend to do what they want. i say Let them swim at their own risk they know the beaches aren't guarded. Once again the park is beautiful and we can't wait to go back.

Awesome place with many beaches and history galore. Spent the day exploring. Took the boat tour on a beautiful day.

Nice clean state park.great beaches.clean changing areas..grills available..bike rental too.try Sara’s for burgers and great fries...oh and of course shakes.

Visited at the end of September.....no crowds, great weather and a lovely tour by boat on the Mary Jane. Loved walking on the beach and exploring the area. Even got a chance to visit a few local wineries.

Amazing park with wild nature, long sandy beaches and walking trails plus several activities for the whole family. Worth the trip.

Went early 8am. nice and quiet :) Very rocky going into water until you get out 5 feet, then sand. Enjoyed our morning. Could not return the next day as a friend broke her foot and was on crutches so no idea how busy it got on the 4th

Explored trails and historical landmarks during the day and watched a sunset on Beach 8 to end our stay. Really enjoyed walking the beach and hearing the waves.

We would highly recommended this little gem. Because it is a state park there are no restaurants or hotels which makes it a natural beauty. You can ride you bike, relax on the beach, learn about history, hike, fly a kite, grill out, take a walk, and watch the sun set. You don't have to go the ocean to enjoy the beach. There are about 11 or more beaches, fresh water, no sharks!

Beautiful park to bike through with many beaches all offering something different. Unlike most beaches on Lake Erie the beaches are very sandy with few rocks. There are 13 different beaches some with large waves and others that are completely calm. Lots of hiking trails and plenty of wildlife to see.

We drove up to this park looking for the 3 Lake Erie Lighthouses, since 2 are in the park. It is a great park. We ended up driving around it a few times to see everything, then found an observation deck with a wonderful breeze to relax on. Plenty of parking and it's free.

We drove through today - although it was flooding in many areas. It's always beautiful and a nice drive. Many birds and waterfowl to see.

This place has been on my bucket list for quite some time. I am so lucky to have been able to finally visit and it did not disappoint. I felt like I was on an actual beach and there was a lot of room so you didn’t feel stuck up against other people. The whole park is beautiful and clean and just nice to walk around and take in nature.

I grew up going to "the peninsula" and always had a good time while there. I liked going in the water at the various beaches as a kid although I did get an infection once which wasn't pleasant at all. Overall considering the wear and tear Presque Isle gets each year it is not a bad experience. I think that cars should pay a fee to get onto the peninsula--fewer cars and more nature. Presque Isle once had cranberry bogs, but as usual human interference messed that up in time. Presque Isle is best appreciated in the off season.

A nice place to visit. Great lighthouse, places to watch boats go by, even some dog friendly beaches. On the weekends before 3 on beach 9 they often fly the coolest looking kites. But the best thing is watching sunset, from either a western beach, or a boat ride. Something about the water, makes the skies turn purple and red. Bring your camera

We went there unknowing the possibilities. Should have taken bikes and worn walking shoes. Place is beautiful.

Presque isle is a beautiful spot and a top priority place to visit when you are in Erie. There are lots of beaches and great walking trails. If you visit, the sunset cruise on the Lady Kate is fantastic. If the skies are clear, the sunset is drop dead gorgeous and very memorable.

We went to Beach 11. The guarded beach was wonderful, the water shallow and perfect for beginners and splashing. Unfortunately, it was too hot for the playground.

So beautiful !!! What a place to visit. A bit to cold for me still with the winds , but it was a wonderful walk along the beach.

This place was amazing! My family rented a pavilion for a reunion. We could hear the birds as we ate yummy sandwiches in the shade. Not really sure what the “ Hot Coals” were for… Maybe grilling? Anyway the walking paths were thrilling with many twist and turns I felt like I was dancing! that was until I saw a gaggle (group) of geese with there little goslings. Goslings are baby geese. Picture of baby below. Anywho, I pulled out my digital camera to snap a pic but was jumped scared almost to death! The goose opened it big old mouth and hist at me! I took 3 big bob step back and snap a quick pic before continuing my walking journey. The whole trail was around 7 miles but we didn’t start at the tip so we walked 6 miles instead. I had made happy memories as I watched the sail boat glide across the bay. I even saw a cheeky chipmunk cross the path. When we got to the end of the path, I saw an amazing restaurant named Sara’s restaurant. I ate onion rings, a burger, a rooten tooten root beer float! My beloved sister order the chick tenders. Would not recommend. It didn’t have much zing and was ten bucks. My sister’s penut butter yogurt cone just hit different! The restaurant had a vintage vibe but the prices didn’t. After we ate, We took a trip to the beach (across the street). It looked beautiful and I tried to skip a few rocks but was interrupted by the urge to use the restrooms after drinking 3 cups of soda. I went to sara’s and could not find a bathroom! I jumped onto the path thinking I would see a bathroom shortly. Unfortunately I was wrong and I wet my pants after walking 2 miles to find the bathroom . I had an extra pair of pants and was able to get dry. So In conclusion, I loved the park but wished the bathroom situation was better.

Lovely way to spend a day in Erie! Takes nearly an hour to drive this loop on the peninsula and many activities are supported. These include swimming at some 11 beaches, boating, kayaks, bicycle and surrey rentals, fishing in some areas, and even archery while we were there.
There is a lodge area that offers food and other amenities.

Visited the park last weekend. Even though the rain took away beach time, the park is beautiful and we had a great time. Did some kayaking which was very relaxing.

Very nice large park with paths, ponds, lake access, and lovely beaches. Had not been here before and were blessed with late season weather so we could enjoy it. Certainly worth a visit with the friends and family.

Nice destination. We biked the peninsula and spent the evening on one of the beaches for a great sunset.

Wow. What an unexpected gem! This fee-free state park has something for everyone! Natural beauty, historical sites with plenty of beaches, trail, playgrounds and comfort stations. It was definitely worth the drive out there from the interstate on our road trip. Wish we lived closer!

There are plenty of things to do from biking to walking to hiking to kayaking to simply putting your feet in the sand and enjoying the beautiful view. It would be nice if we were allowed to use inner tubes and such but for some reason they don’t allow it and that just doesn’t sit right with me but hey that’s just my opinion

This state park is amazing. Fantastic hikes, walks and cycle parks. Lovely beaches too. All very clean and all very accessible. A great place for a day out.

Driving around the park was nice. Very beautiful. However, when we got out to walk on one of the trails the mosquitos were so bad we had to go back to the car. It had rained a lot in the spring and that made for some swampy areas which also stopped us from walking very far. If we had been able to take a couple of long walks we would have enjoyed ourselves more. We are used to walking in more private areas and due to many campers in the Park that detracted from our enjoyment. Some people probably would not care at all.

The park was great and had plenty of smaller walks and viewpoints to take it.
I mainly wanted to comment on Gull Point Trail (when we were there) - the trail was rerouted around the beach and took about 3 miles roundtrip. Lead to an observation tower. It as a mix of beaches/gravel/grass walk. Overall, the wall and views were not worth the length of the trail.
But the park overall, is great.

Mid-week in July and not very crowded = perfect way to enjoy nature! A lovely park - nature and history at the same time?! Yes, please. Perry Monument taught me things I never knew, Presque Isle lighthouse, the beautiful beaches, the flat and quiet trails.....all of it was just wonderful.

It's been a long time since we were here. We visited and had a picnic with our German Shepherd. He had a blast playing in the waves. We will be coming back.

This was a beautiful drive with some great stops and gorgeous beaches. You can walk or rent a bike or drive your car.

The park has a big shore line with multiple beaches, bike and boat rentals. It is a beautiful park .

It is a great area for walkers, runners and bikers with alot of trails. Many beaches if you wish to sun or swim.Major negative is the many potholes on the unpaved roads and lots.

So beautiful and clean! Our family had a wonderful time biking and playing at the beaches. The beaches are so clean and well maintained. At times the bikeways and roads felt congested, but it is a popular place. Once you go once you will see why!

Haven't been here for decades. First visit ever in the winter. Scenic drive on a bitter cold windy winter day. Saw people ice fishing out on the lake. Long drive to the historic lighthouse.
Winter caution: roads, paths do not seem treated.
Ladies: plan to wait, as rest areas are hot heated.

This was the first time my wife had seen any of the great lakes and looking on the map this park looked like the perfect place even though it was out of our travel route.
As we drove in I was suprised by the number of people here during the week, but I quickly realized why. This park is one any city would be envious of.
There are bike/walking paths throughout the park, parking is plentiful and the views are spectacular. There was an abundance of bike and boat rentals around the park.
You can look back along the coastline or gave out over the expanse of Lake Erie.
We chose a picnic spot overlooking the lake on a sandy beach.
We had a visiting seagull that I think was scouting us out to see if we were an easy mark for some food, we fought the urge and followed the park rules. I’m sure if we had fed him the other hundreds of birds would have swooped upon us from the rocks and trees.
It takes a bit of time to drive the entire park but iot is well worth it.

Visited with my 2 boys. We had a fun day on the beach. Lifeguards were there. Parking was easy. Bathrooms were clean. The only complaint was there weren’t many charcoal grills to cook on. We found one that wasn’t in the best shape but made it work. Will return again. When leaving make sure to stop at Sarah’s for ice cream!!!!

Arriving by car in the off season this is a quiet refuge from the city Biker, runners and walkers enjoy long paths along the bay and the lake front. Free parking made it easy to stop wherever and wlak and take pictures We stopped at the two lighthouses.

Beautiful, clean, spacious beaches and a wonderful, scenic drive! We all loved our visit to Presque Isle (42, 33, 24, 12 and 4) — fun for all ages!

Two Lighthouses, many beaches, rocks, free pontoon ride on the inner waterway...walker/bike trails all around. Sunsets (if not cloudy) beautiful. Well done PA Parks.

We enjoyed our day at Beach 11. There were lifeguards on duty and the concession stand was open and reasonably priced. There was plenty of parking and the beach is clean. There were lots of families there, but plenty of space for everyone.

I traveled about 5 hours from the Harrisburg, PA area to visit Presque Isle and I was not disappointed. It is a beautiful area. We went to the beach which was relaxing, getting in Lake Erie. There are also aqua bikes to ride on a pond and surrey bikes to ride on paved paths - I recommend both of these. You can even take a tour of a lighthouse on the isle. We rode on the Lady Kate boat ride which was a great value ($16/person for about 90 minutes). There are also a lot or restaurants within 5-10 minutes as well. I went with my wife and two teenaged daughters and we all loved it. I hope to return in the future and do it again!

This is a must see park if you are in the Erie area! There are many spots to stop along the roadway.. beaches on the Lake Erie side, picnic areas on the bay side, the Perry Monument, lighthouses. There are so many beautiful water views it would be hard to choose a favorite.

What a great place with so many paths to walk/bike and beaches where you can safely distance from others.

Beautiful scenery, visited beach and light house. Could not get in water. Cold windy day. Light house is closed to public currently.

This is a lovely place to spend a day, swimming, biking, hiking or even a part of a romantic drive. Fabulous, well cared for trails and spotless beaches.

Enjoyed a relaxing and invigorating day in this park hiking and exploring its beaches.. Worth at least a few hours of time spent in fresh air and sunshine. The two lighthouses are picturesque, and the wildlife is abundant. Only tip I would leave is to double check on bike rentals become coming. The rental company was close for weekday rentals, opening only on weekends, while we were there (end of September). Otherwise, a top attraction in this state and deservedly so.

Loved it. Beautiful place to visit. There’s so many beaches, that it’s not really crowded in any area.

Presque Isle is a jewel in Erie, PA. Bike, drive around the entire park, swim, picnic, hike. The place is HUGE and the forests, beaches and woods are pristine. A wonderful way to spend the day.

Have gone to Presque Isle on a number of trips and love the place, from the bike trails to the beaches, everything. Place is clean and well taken care of.Too bad I have to travel from Northeast Ohio to Pennsylvania to find a well taken care of State Park.Great job PA !

We wanted to take the kids and cool off in Lake Erie. We were disgusted with the green, slimy water. Apparently Ohio has thousands of pig factories, and the manure ends up in Lake Erie! Truly disgusting!

We were here in November and it was a different beautiful. So peaceful...I can imagine in the summer..we drove through on a road that takes you in and around and back out..I really enjoyed that.We stopped at a few beaches to have a look ,nice sand and never ending.Excellent! Surrounded by the lake and sand dunes,a few swampy areas, and plenty of places to fish or picnic..What a Treasure! Maybe we'll try it in the summer, hope its not overly crowded and commercialized then...?

You can make an entire day at this park. Drive the entire park, rent a bike to see the park, walk the beaches, see the lighthouse.

My husband and I stayed two nights in Erie. We spent our first day exploring Presque Isle State Park and I'm so glad we did. Lots of wild life, tranquil serring, and clean shoreline.

This definitely scratched my itch of sandy beaches and waves lapping, it’s a beautiful place and much bigger than I expected. There’s plenty of beach areas to choose from and we didn’t see a lot of people which was perfect, almost felt like we had it to ourselves. Looking forward to going back!

The weather was warm but not really enough for me to swim but it was lovely to just walk and sit and enjoy the view and sound of the waves. Only the little kids were playing in the water this day but people were flying kites, reading and just chillin’. Lovely way to spend the day!

We went after the peak season and opted to drive around and walk on the beach. The park is very large and was very quiet. We were hoping there would be more hiking trails but the one we tried looked like it had been submerged recently. There is a paved path along the road and the Perry Monument information was interesting.

Lots going on at the park on a snowy day in February! Ice fishing, ice skating, ice hockey, people walking and getting in a run. Lots of ice, distant views of the water in Lake Erie.

I found this park while reading for possible rest stops during our drive from Cleveland to Niagara Falls, ON. From I-90 it was a slight out of the way detour but very easy to find. I used TA to determine which beaches we would visit with our 2 yr old and decided on beaches 6, 7, and 11. Beach 6 had a life guard, was clean with ample parking. There were volleyball nets and lots of teens. Beach 7 had a jungle-gym type play area that was too advance and big for our toddler but would recommend for grade school children who love to climb. Beach 11 was perfect! Maintenance just raked the beach so it was clean. The playground area is all natural wood and stones. Our LO loved climbing the rocks, picking up sticks, rolling logs, and building a tee pee. There are also swings and open grass for running. The facilities are outdoors, not outhouse, just outside but are easy to get to. No changing tables for diapering. The concessions was opened at beach 6. This was a great stop along our journey to Niagara and highly recommended.

Although it was a gloomy day driving around the island was lovely. We were there in October and the leaves we’re still hanging on in very beautiful. The lighthouse is interesting and the small but well stocked gift shop lovely!

Beautiful sunny breezy day on the beach. School was in so no children except the toddlers. Quiet and peaceful. Beach is usually pristine but there had been a storm the day before. So quite a bit of cigarette butts and small trash on the sand. Usually not that way. Very friendly and plenty of beaches to chose from. Fishing area for handicap was clean and not crowded. Unfortunately this time of year during the week no boat rides are open and no life guards.

Clean, safe, picturesque, romantic, scenic. Lotsa lovelies abound....and the wildlife thereabouts is nice too! ;-) It's PA's next best thing to the Put-In-Bay and the Lake Erie Islands of neighboring OH...

Beautiful day today at beach #6, the weather was perfect! We were a multigenerational group there for swimming and paddle boarding and everyone had a great time EXCEPT that absolutely no floaties were allowed, even a small floatie for an infant.

Beautiful scenery, great for walking, sunbathing, picnics, family gatherings, bird watching, kayaking and boating!!!!!!!!!

It's a super beautiful place for biking or hiking. There are around fifteen beaches and beautiful vegetation throughout. It is very beautiful. Free entry.

WOW what a beautiful place! Traveling thru the state I had to visit & sure glad I stopped. The Visitors center was amazing with great history & info about the area. Drove through the park & stopped at the beaches & the lighthouse for photo opts. So many ways to get around, with rentals in place to enjoy the water or the nature. Cute venue of eats as you enter by the campgrounds, so something for everyone. Would love to swim there, maybe next time.

This park is beautiful. Great in the summer for boating, swimming, biking, and running (almost no change in elevation). We also have been here in the winter and went out on the frozen bay to see the ice boats and ice fishing. The beaches are well maintained. We were recently at beach 8 and the facilities were newly built and top notch for a state park. We plan on coming back yearly.

The key to a great time at Presque Isle State Park lies in the fact that everyone else around you wants to have a great time, too. Do what you should by following beach closures, rip tide warnings, traffic, cycling trail protocols, and giving grace to families experiencing meltdowns and tired toddlers ... mission accomplished.
A beautiful, 74° Saturday in August brings our family out to enjoy the scenery and the challenge to complete the path loop on bicycles. We hope to repeat the experience, as we truly enjoyed the "best day ever" feeling all along our journey.
Our group focused on the 13.5-mile trail that loops the peninsula. Well-marked and cared for, the trail follows the roadway around the park with a few diversions cutting off tight sections or offering a viewing experience
closer to the shoreline and away from automobile traffic.
The paved path begins and ends at the park entrance/exit with mileage markers written on the pavement. Start and finish at any point on the path, attend to road signs (stop signs are well-marked, as are diversions of the path. We began and ended at the 12.1 mile mark, stopping at a few points to wait on other path followers to cross at an intersection, or to wait out congestion of walkers, cyclers, or pedal cars at busy locations.
Yellow Bike, inside the park across from Beach 7, offers rentals from standard to eBikes, as well as pedal carts for not-shocking prices, or feel free to bring your own.
Take along snacks and your choice of hydration, and pack a picnic to enjoy at a picnic area along the way. A leisurely ride will allow stops to enjoy a beach, playground, scenic vistas including lighthouses, monuments, and docks and wharves on the opposite shore. A workout of your choice will provide beautiful sights to last the route and spur you onward.
Take a ride, walk, or run on the Presque Isle trail at your earliest convenience. How
Can you miss?

What a superior Gem Erie has at its doorstep.
I live five minutes away.
I try to get there 4-5 times a week.
Flat paths to walk and bike on while enjoying the beautiful landscape.

Presque Isle is an absolutely beautiful state park! Once inside the park, you don't need to leave for anything. There's dining, bathrooms, changing facilities, camp grounds, and activities.

I grew up on Long Island NY and have lived in NW Pa. since 2011. Presque Isle is my go-to beach “fix!” The nicest factor about Lake Erie is that there are NO SHARKS to worry about! The sound of the water and beauty of the coast-shoreline and delicious breezes are so peaceful and serene!

Beautiful drive, walk, or bike ride. Several nice, clean beaches. Two lighthouses.
Wear shoes in the sand - if the sun is shining, it is easy to burn your feet.

We were just passing through Ohio from Indiana to Buffalo and stopped here to stretch our legs, We wanted to walk for about an hour. We stopped at the first parking spot we found and walked a paved trail, but it was just along the avenue to the main part of the park. It was a very nice walk, peaceful.

What a beautiful spot. The entire property was a treat to behold, so clean, well staffed, and just beautiful. I could not believe there was no fee to enter such a lovely place. It is one of the most well maintained properties we have ever visited. If you need a hotel on the bay, head for the Sheraton rather than the Courtyard

Gorgeous sunset. We were on the beach collecting rocks. There was a woman dressed up as Ariel from The Little Mermaid doing a photo shoot. My kids went over and took pictures with her.

Like the beach but nicer and more relaxing. I think 11 beaches to chose from. A must stop if your in the area. You'll be happy.

Multiple beaches to choose from, along with biking, boating, hiking, fishing and more! You can stop at Sara’s and grab a burger on your way into the park or a bite before heading home. Lake Erie water is clear and reminiscent of Florida’s turquoise water. A must see!

We were here in June & the water was ice cold. I didn’t even go in but the kids did. Keep in mind, july/aug probably would be better. The kids enjoyed going in the water & playing in the sand. We picked one of the last “access” points after the lighthouse. It has a bathroom you could also change in. There was a good amount of geese poop in the sand so that’s something to be aware of. If you stay til dusk there WILL be bugs. So many mosquitos were at our car leaving it was insane.

Presque Isle State Park is a wonderful destination for all ages. The beaches are lovely, well maintained and the water is great. There is a wonderful view both on the lake side and the bay side, with trails for biking and walking. There is a nice amusement park and water park at the entrance to Presque Isle, and Erie has a lot more to offer, including a nice zoo, great restaurants and shopping.

We went to Beach 6 on a Friday in August. Unsurprisingly, people came out to enjoy the sun (bring some sunscreen). This freshwater beach is free to visit, and the only possible issue you may run into is getting a good parking spot. There are lifeguards stationed along the beach, and they only let you swim where there is coverage. The sand is decently clean and easy to walk on, and there is plenty of space to set up your beach, whatever it may be. While the lake is as clean as it has been in recent memory, we still opt to only go in waist-deep, but plenty of people were still swimming.

If you like to fish or hike trails, this place is for you. The park is clean. Some of the beaches are open to swim. The sand is coarse, so I would recommend walking in sandals or some type of footwear. Perry’s Point is worth visiting. There are lighthouses as well.
The very best beaches Lake Erie has to offer!
Presque Isle is one the hidden gems of Lake Erie I feel people are missing. This State Park is a Peninsula that has 12 unique beaches offering something for everyone. Inside the park there is paddle boarding, bike rental, jet skiing, and more. I know when you think of Lake Erie, you think of dirty murky water. However that is not the case here! You can literally stand in water to your chest and see your feet clearly! Do your family a favor and visit this location, you won't regret it.
