Prien Lake Park Reviews

It is really beautiful out here. The boat slip was no cool and we saw a bunch of boating activities for folks here. It is paved and has benches on the dock on both sides where you can sit when you are fishing from the dock.

Its nice to just walk along the lake and its scenic. Nothing else here really. More for locals to walk and jog. A small water park is there for kids. Worth visiting if you have nothing else to do.

If you are in Lake Charles make sure you go to this beautiful park absolutely gorgeous and very well kept up really really beautiful.

Family friendly. Has walking path, water feature for kids as well as a play area. Nice view next of Prien Lake and boat launch. Boat launch is closed for renovations.

This is a nice peaceful park with many amenities. We fish here often. I always see others walking with their dogs or walking for exercise. There are small and large pavilions on the grounds.

Safe walking with great views. Real southern environment to chill and get away from the busy town. Good for a sunday afternoon walk.

This park is well kept. One can easy go for a run or go for a walk around the grounds, or even have a picnic. There has been some recent construction which destroys the scenery.

I come here often. Sometimes to fish, sometimes just to stroll around. But it’s always so pretty, especially when we drove through around Christmas! The lights were great!

It was a beautiful day at the park charcoal grills would have topped it off. I enjoyed looking at the memorial for the veterans reminding us of other peoples sacrifices for our country.

A lovely clean constructed park by the lake. Nice for a brief stroll and a picnic, but only worth an hour or so

Prien Lake Park is right there on the lake with easy freeway, and surface street, access & ample free parking. Has boat launching ramps & picnic areas under the old live oak trees with hanging Spanish moss. Perfect for a barbecue as well. Bring the bug spray - this is Louisiana & beaucoup Mosquitoes love to bite...

This park is very nice. Great facilities for events. Nice splash pad for the kids. Great fishing on the lake. Nice walking trail.

If you want to get a way for a few minutes or your lunch hour, this is the place to visit. It has interactive water, walking path, shaded benches and tables.

Very nice place to take pictures, play with the dog, splash pad for children, great views of the lake and a wonderful walking track.

I live not far from this park. It was completely redone a few years ago. They have a really nice building you can rent and it is very reasonable. It took me a while to find out how to rent it. You have to go through the department of parks and recreation.

They have family movies on Friday nights in the spring, which is great for the kids. The movies are always G rated. You can bring you on blankets and food and have a picnic.

They also have a water fountain that the kids can play in.

They is a walking trail, and ample place to walk your dog.

Did a photo shoot here last year. There are multiple playgrounds for the kids, walking tracks, pet places, and places just to sit and enjoy a beautiful day. Definitely one of the better parks I have seen in the city. All kinds of people were there. So if you like to people watch, this may be a place to do that... but isn't that a bit creepy? People watching?
If you are looking for a place with some great backdrops for a photoshoot, this has many.

Large park overlooking the water with lots of space, parking and activities to do. It was probably a little too manicured for my liking as I prefer more natural settings but it would be a great place for a picnic or to let off steam (you or the kids).

Everyone should enjoy this park. It is family friendly and dog friendly. Great place for exercise! Very close to much of the city, including shopping.

This park is beautiful. It is right on the water. There are a few different play areas, as well as a walking track and a few pavilions. You can also have a wedding or birthday party here.

This could well be an intoxicating park. Alas! there were quite a few intoxicated guys of no home address in this park.

I've been here a few times and it's a nice quite park. Very large by the lake. We took family photos there a few years ago and they turned out nicely.

I go to Prien Lake Park often during my lunch break. I enjoy the beauty and peacefulness away from the office for a few minutes. It is very hard to leave and go back to my office to finish out the day!

This park is well-maintained and has nice views of the waterfront and 210 bridge. It's a good place to walk for exercise and has a good (safe) surrounding neighborhood. My favorite park in Lake Charles!

recently renovated, this park is right on the lake. there's lots to do and in the Spring, there are family movie nights.,

Beautiful park. I only wish the walking/running walk was longer and less confusing. Seems there is no clear route. My fave pure park to walk in the lake charles area.

Paved walk around the public park on the lakefront is a great place to walk/ run to get your exercise while soaking up the sunshine. Pavilions available to bar-b-q or cook some burgers if you want-also boat and kayak launch are located at the park. Just a neat friendly public space.

It's good to visit, to pause. There are places to sit, relax unwind. There are places to be able to BBQ yourself, and large areas that have activities

It is nice to go in the evening and watch the sunset. Take a walk around the park on the path and lighted boradway. It is also nice when they have Movie in the Park. You bring your chair or blanket and sit out under the stars and watch the movie. Fun for the whole family

This is anice park! Has a trail for walking or jogging. I mainly use it as a quick place to go fishing. Depending on the weather I have caught some decent fish here.

I enjoyed this park the times I have been there and many places for kids to play and other places you can use to spend time with family and even large numbers of people. There is a walking path that surrounds it and always some people out there fishing also. A nice park overall and recommended as a place to go and enjoy the great outdoors or just take in some sun! :)

Good views and quiet appeal. I go here frequently to unwind and refresh. Great walking track and numerous benches available for seating. Great views of the lake; however the petrochemical facilities and port on the other side of the lake are not aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Prien Lake Park, situated on beautiful Prien Lake, is great for many things: for kids there are the water fountains and monkey bars, for runners there is the picturesque walk around the entire park, for family functions there are several cooking areas and covered reunion areas.
Bring your camera and spend an hour or the day.

I would visit this park in a morning to just sit and watch the world go by. It's really quiet and very clean. There are lots of places to sit. Parking is not an issue in the mornings, but it does fill up later in the day. The views of the bridge are great. They had almost finished putting up the Christmas lights when I was there last and they should look stunning once they are lit. It's a great place to read a book.

This is a real pretty park, recently redone, with several pavilions, including an indoor one that some couples get married in. It also includes several fountains, a splash pad, a playground, and a creek. It is right on Prien Lake with a view of La Fleur Bridge. There is a boat launch as well.

It's real close to L'auberge Du Lac and the soon to be open Golden Nugget.

Last time I went here I took my son and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

This park has the best sunsets! It has nice concrete walking trails, splash park for kids, a playground for kids,an ampatheater, and a boat launch. Through ought the park you will also find many beautiful water fountains. It is kept very clean as well.

We found this to be a great place to walk and bring grandchildren to. In April they have outdoor movies in the park on Friday evenings. Bring some bug repellant.and enjoy some family rated movies.

Take a lunch and plan in enjoying the scenery while you take a break from going to and fro.
I've no family in town so those large summer events that are in every area are not my thing but I still enjoy walking about and watching the kids play in the water spouts. Take a kayak and use the waterway to get some peace and enjoy the birdsongs and the beautiful houses along the way. There's a boat launch that seems busy.
Local park that's well maintained and crowded on the weekends..

This park is beautifully kept up and features a wonderful walking trail by Prien Lake as well as calisthenics and exercise stations along the way. Dogs are allowed if one picks up their droppings and there is a large pavilion for group picnics and parties. There are also restroom facilities. The lovely view of the lake enhances your experience.

Has a good walking track and water play area for kids. The sunset view of the lake is very beautiful. There are pavilions for outside dining and looks like a meetin room as well.

Great park for walking on newly paved paths, canoe launch and pavilions. Great way to spend a sunny day.

This park is so nice for walking, jogging, or just hanging out. Good energy, clean, and a beautiful view of the 210 bridge!

Drove into Lake Charles from Fort Polk for the day. Went for run at Prien Lake Park. Not really big enough for a good run, but very nice park with a lot of amenities

Nice walking/running paths that are big enough & smooth enough for a double stroller. Nice view of the lake, very calming & peaceful. The parks hosts outdoor movies & gets a pretty decent crowd. If you go at the right time of day there are ducks that can be fed. Also has a nice little playground for little ones. Mine are under 5 and enjoy the playground.

Wide open spaces, nice walk/ jog paths. The dogs love it here as well. Boat launch, pavilions, BBQ areas, great for frisbees and kites.

This is a nice little park right next to St. Patrick's Hospital. It's one of the oldest in Lake Charles. There is a running track and some playscape areas.

One secret about the park that not everyone knows is that there is a portion that goes directly to Shell Beach Drive next to the mansions on the lake. It's a great way to get to the lake and see the mansions, as it leads to the sidewalk next to the mansions.

A lot of people drive Shell Beach Drive to see the mansions, if you want to get out and see them, this is the best way.

I love going here. You can bring your pets, fish, launch your boat, kayak, exercise, throw birthday parties and receptions. Plenty of tables around that are covered. I usually grab a few pizzas and bring my family just to enjoy the view. There is also a small water park for the kids and a playground to play on,

Well kept park with walking/jogging paths. Exercise areas and nice view of the lake. Picnic and barbecue areas for family gatherings. Clean restrooms through out.

The clean and well tended park is, for the lack of a better phrase, built to walk (or run) or just kick back and enjoy.. It is beside a very wide spot in the river the locals call Prien Lake. It is green with (usually) gentle breezes. There are places to sit and enjoy just relaxing and looking at the water and birds.

It is good to remember that in Louisiana rain is a regular event so sitting on what appears to be dry isn't. The ground is damp and sitting on it for a bit will leave a "wet spot."

However, I like the place.

The park is great. My husband and I walk there and enjoy the lake view, the walking track, the cleanliness of the park, the exercise equipment placed sporadically around the track - It's great for families. Safe and beautiful park.

Took a short morning drive and walk to the little park. It is not far from Golden Nugget but is across the highway and down the road. It is a small, clean park and has two short walkways. There is a nice playground and convenient restrooms. Part of the walkway was under construction but still walked the open portion. Parking lot is right a start of walkways.

We have done a walk on the sun it was very nice. You have some table with bbq. Also some sport equipments. A lot of people are running and walking. Kids have a little park to play.

I have been a regular visitor to Prien Lake Park since 1956. Our family has had reunions here, along with great bar-b-que, fish fry's, boating and fishing, water sports out on the lake, gumbo suppers, weddings, church picnics. There's so much available for just about any event at Prien Lake Park.

On sunny mornings I enjoy going to the park to walk and people watch.The view of the lake imakes me happy. I have watched many people their dogs, setting up for picnics, bar bques or birthday parties. Ienjoy the beautiful flowers and trees.It is an excelent place for all these activities.

City of Lake Charles has done a great job on this park and maintain it very well, great for walks, parties, family gatherings, young kids have a small water park - great parking - it's a must park to go to

Great place to go with your pet. Nice walking paths. Pavillions are available for birthday parties, cook outs, family gatherings, etc. There is also a boat launch on site if you wish to bring a boat and enjoy the lake

The park right by the lake is beautiful! It is a very relaxing place to sit and enjoy the sights. They were setting up for Mardi Gras Parades so there was a lot of activity and commotion but the lake is relaxing and the entire drive around just beautiful!

My Wife and I have been here many times to walk and enjoy the view of lake Charles and get a little fresh air. Very nice, wide walking paths and it's particularly nice when decorated for Christmas. My youngest daughter was even married here and it was lovely.

We went to this park while visiting Lake Charles. There should be a park like this in every town. It is well kept. While there we saw people catching crabs, fishing, jogging, using the exercise stations, etc. There are plenty of park benches and several restroom areas at the pavilions. There are several pavilion areas for groups. There are plenty of parking areas. It wasn't crowded, even though we went on a federal holiday. A great place to enjoy when in the area.

Great family place, a place for toddlers to play, great place to walk and picnic, there are fountains and a nice large lake with boat launch grill facilities for cooking. Tip get there early if you plan on cooking. If fishing in lake get proper fishing license from local sporting goods store.

The park has changed over the years. I stop by the park at least once a year when I'm in town. Nice place, usually clean and safe.

Beautiful, well manicured park with lots of sitting in the shade areas. Clean waterpark for the kids. Lovely water view. Many organization use it for their "walks" for charity. Very nice.

I love Prien Lake Park for so many different reasons. My wife and I used to grab some sandwiches and go eat out on the lawn when we were dating. When the weather is nice, it is the perfect place to just go and sit by the water and soak it all in. The path is a great place to go for a walk or a run and the park is very clean!

We went with our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren over the christmas break. Nice view over the lake at night. The christmas lights were a nice seasonal addition. You can walk, watch an evening movie (seasonal) or have an event at the provided facility. You feel safe and it has convenient access.

I really love this park. It’s got it all! A great play area and splash pad for the kids and a great walking trail for exercising or dog walking. The lake views are gorgeous and this is by far the beat place to view July 4th fireworks!

My husband and I walk frequently with our kids. They have a water play area as well as a small playground for the kids to play. They have an events center, amphitheater, pavilion, and many covered picnic areas with bbq pits.

Manicured landscaping with water views and very nice pavilions that seem to be used by local people who enjoy having fun.

Beautiful, well maintained park! We visit the park frequently to walk our dog. We have also launched our boat & kayaks from here as well. The separate kayak launch makes it very easy. However my favorite part about the park is the beautiful views & amazing sunsets. A great place for a picnic & to just enjoy being outside.

We were so happy to get out of the house in February and take in the fresh air and sunshine. The park is late, clean, has ample parking and is a great place to exercise our four legged family members.

I jog on the walkway along the lake almost everyday! It has a beautiful view of Prien Lake and is a great place to Jog,walk your dog or just relax. Plenty of picnic sites and nice clean restrooms.

It had plenty of spots to view the sunset. I walked my dog around, and it was a dog-friendly place with a dog water fountain and waste trash cans. It was clean and well kept. The only issue was there was someone who ate a piece of chicken and left the drumstick on the ground, which my dog tried to eat. It was covered in ants as I was trying to get it out of her mouth. Overall, it is a great place to watch the sunset and relax. There were also a lot of good fishing spots.

The park has several pavilions for meetings = air conditioned, etc. There are playgrounds, boat launches and plenty of grass to play in. The day we were there we had a breeze off the lake and it was so beautiful and peaceful.

This is a very pretty, well-maintained park. A nice playground, walking/jogging paths, pet-friendly, and a water feature for children to play in.

It is definitely a family oriented park, looking out on Prien Lake. It has a great walking/jogging trail in & around the entire park. There is plenty of parking within the park. There is lots of traffic along the main street on its east side.

Nice area fir jogging and spend time with family and friends. You can barbecue there and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. Also it's a open place just to relax

Real nice park to bring the family we was visiting my friend and she told me about this parkFamily's was have a great time fishing boating and just enjoying the sun. My daughter had a wonderful time playing at the playground.

This park has it all. Bathroom facilities, exercise paths, fishing wharf, picnic tables and benches convenient parking and an unspoiled view of the Lake of Lake Charles. Each winter the City of Lake Charles installs one of the best Christmas Light arrangements in southwest Louisiana. A must see for families during the holidays, The park is safe and secure and provides facilities for family of corporate functions. A great location to visit.

Another good place to walk and talk and get a little outdoor exercise! Lots of water fowl and wildlife and we really enjoyed that!

This is one of our favorite places to bring a lunch and hike. The view is good, the cleanliness excellent and the people polite. I'm here at least once a week.

This Lake Charles gem is an excellent locale for those looking for a jogging path or a perfect picnic spot! With wonderful views of the lake, Prien Lake Park serves many interests. If you are looking for great photo ops or just enjoying the outdoors this is the park for you!

The park is scenic and beautiful, and is conducive to peaceful quiet on the grounds, as well as family gatherings in the pavilions. The view of the lake and the massive curved bridge are inspiring.

This park has added so much for all ages of the community. For the very young it has a playground surrounded by a fence with a gate so you can bring a little one and know they can't get away. In there is equipment to climb on, slides, tire like equipment to swing from and poles. In another area there's a water sprayer area for the little bit bigger childern to play in. The whole park has a walking path enjoyed by runners, walkers and bicycle riders. The surrounding scene is Prien Lake which is beautiful just to look at it. All around the park are picnic tables. There's an outdoor covered pavilion and an enclosed pavilion with two large rooms, all of which can be rented for special events. Along the water are places to fish and at one end there is a boat launch. On Spring Fridays they show movies in the park. It's a well used great area for all ages!

PL Park is an outdoor gem where you can exercise, launch your boat, walk your dog, hold a private party (pavilions for rent,) enjoy a picnic..all while gazing at the beautiful lake. Especially nice at sunset.

Visited here and found it to be a great place to walk as well as sit and enjoy the view of the water. Family friendly.

Great improvements to the boat launch and parking areas. It is nice to have pavement instead of shell after all these years. It has never been so nice!!

You walk on comfortable trails and boardwalks as you watch sunset on the lake or sun glistening on the lake during the morning. There are places to stop and rest or even to do special exercises. This park was well planned and is great! It is even dog friendly!

This park has been built to encourage people to exercise The scenery is beautifu lwith the walking paths and the places to stop to perform certain exercises. It has a water play area which is on during the summer when the kiddos want to cool off. It is dog friendly with watering bowl for dogs and if you like people watching this is the place for you. It has an ampetheater .and has movies during the summer. Right now it;s a little hard to get to because of road work. You also can see the curved bridge that crosses the lake to give you access to Sulphur and Westlake, La.

I love this park; it's a great place to have a nice walk or jog before or after a long day. A true gem in Lake Charles.

This park just keeps getting better! The sidewalk takes you by the water to enjoy sunsets and watch folks fishing or boating. The young trees are starting to grow and soon will be offering better shade. The picnic areas and group enclosures are kept clean (as long as people don't trash them too much!) as are the bathrooms. This is a great asset for the area...and the holiday lights were outstanding!

The park is very lovely. It has buildings for events and there are seats near the lake to sit . It was a beautiful spot for the wedding we attended. It is well kept up.

Love to walk at this park, evening or morning views a breathtaking. I have been walking at this park for 8 years...great place to take families to picnic, water play, or kite fly! It feels safe.

Drove over to Lake Charles from the Orange TX area to shop, eat dinner, look at lights. Beautiful job around the civic center and park area! Family-friendly park with pavilions and fishing piers. We saw horse and carriage rides! Beautiful homes around the lake were decorated for Christmas. Very nice!

We walk at the park a lot. Its very nice with several paths. There is a view of the lake. You can fish here as well. There is a place to launch a kayak. The boat launch is large & there is a wooden dock around it. Kids enjoy the water park & playground area. Nice restrooms & water fountains for people & dogs. BBQ pits & covered picnic areas.

This scenic park is on a lake with gorgeous spots to sit, visit, observe and watch sunsets. Sidewalks provide great walking paths for pets and people to exercise. Restrooms are clean and well maintained. Excellent area for children to play on equipment or in water playground.

Beautiful and safe place for the whole family. Exercise or relaxation or meeting place for a larger gathering.

Rented both rooms of Harbors Edge @Prien Lake Park. Nice Building and awesome attendant. Full kitchen privileges and long and round tables on hand. You must setup the tables, however, you can wave the cleanup
Deposit and they will do it. You can rent either the large room or the small or both depending upon your need.The parking lot is lighted but not light enough for night usage. Absolutely no smoking anywhere on the property. But, you can have alcohol.

Super nice park typically very quiet, tend to go there to unwind and need a lone time.

Can get overcrowded at certain times which I avoid.

This is a very clean park with a great walking/running path and play areas for kids. The picnic areas and restrooms are great. This park is well maintained.

Great place for a walk or fishing or launching a boat. They also have pavillions for group events. The winter light show is setting up to be great.

Prien Lake Park is absolutely stunning. Great photo opportunities, long walking and jogging path. The park is a parish park and unlike our city parks, the park is pet friendly. It has large grassy areas for a picnic and BBQ pits are conveniently located near covered benches and tables. There is also a playground for kids that is fenced in for their safety. The kids can also enjoy the water park. There are at least 4 areas that can be reserved for special occasions such as weddings, family reunions or whatever you like within reason. The view of the Israel Lafluer bridge over Prien Lake is absolutely stunning. There is a boat launch and a kayak launch also. Fishing is also allowed. The park is about half a mile from the casinos .If you're not from the area, just use your GPS to find it. You won't be disappointed. Did I mention the amphitheater?

Prien Lake is a beautiful park, located on the water. It has nice walking paths for exercise. There is a playground for children. It even has a splash pad area for kids. Late afternoon is the perfect time to visit to enjoy the sunset.

I visited Prien Lake park shortly after some strong thunderstorms and heavy rain. The park was a little soggy but it is a very scenic location and offers nice spots to walk and visit.

There are Christmas lights set up for evening and I’ll have to return to see them lit up!

Overall it was a very enjoyable visit and I look forward to returning!

This park is my favorite, always so pretty and relaxing. We come here whenever we are in town. Perfect location too.

I was looking for a place to run while in town and Prien Lake Park was perfect! Nice little sidewalk trail about a 3/4 mile around on the water, great views and lots of shade.

It's lit up at night for Christmas! We drove around the town and ended up at Prien Lake Park. Such a pretty, clean, spacious park. Walking trails, exercise stations along the pathways, a great view of the water, fishing pier at the far end. Clean restrooms and a very nice event room with a nice view of the lake.

Tiny park beside the lake. Nice pathways to walk/run, and benches to sit on to stare at the water. However, the picnic spots are often occupied by groups that play music very loudly and then it becomes a nuisance. The park authorities should restrict the decibel levels so that everyone can enjoy on their own terms.

We love to take the grandkids bike riding and this is one of our best places to do so. It's clean, it's safe and with the proper safety precautions, there are a couple of nice places to eat nearby. Construction has been a problem.

Mom and I took a nice walk with the dogs on Christmas Day. Lots of folks taking advantage of the nice weather and relaxing scenery to enjoy the walking paths at the park. Always like coming here.

We came here for an evening stroll and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They view was quaint and peaceful and as long as you can get past the affectionate couples you will enjoy your time here ☀️

Very peaceful. Nice place to take a jog. There is also a little area for kids to play. Around the track, there are little stops you can do to some exercise. Reminds me of the military track on Dover Air Base in Delaware.

I love Prien Lake Park. There is a wonderful walking/jogging path. There are restrooms & pavilions with picnic tables. There is a Kayak/Paddle Board launch which is very nice. There is a small splash pad & a small playground. Dogs are allowed if kept on a leash. This is a very family friendly place with a great view of the lake.

you have plenty of room for walking, you have covered area's to rest. there is also a play ground for the kids. Friday night Movies under the Stars during the spring are a lot of fun as well.

All I can say is Simply Beautiful.... the view of the water and peaceful ambiance of the park setting is a must see for everyone.

This is a beautiful family and pet family park. Great for walking with a lake as a backdrop. A local favorite!

This park is a must see park which is well designed for multiple purposes such as walking or jogging. Very peaceful and friendly people with an outstanding view of nature at it's best. When visiting Lake Charles, take time to visit this beautiful park.

I go for my walks in this park every Sunday. The mosquitoes can be annoying but overall it’s a great park.

This is a beautiful park with a wonderful walking path. The view of the lake is so relaxing. We feel safe here!

I walk my dog there about once a month and bring my binoculars to view migratory song birds that often can be observed. The family part of the park is at the mouth of Henderson Bayou and Prien Lake. A huge slab was recently poured for the fishermen and boaters to the north of the family area. It appears that a new boat launch was also constructed. This park is well-maintained as opposed to some of the other parks in the area and is suitable to a number of family activities.

My son and daughter in law brought me to this park while I was visiting Louisiana from Oregon. It was a beautiful park with many areas of interest. A spray park for the kids, a couple water features, a nice walking path and many areas to sit and enjoy nature.

always clean. has interactive waterfountain for kids to play in, great for walking with exercise stations along the path. complimentary doggie poop bag stations and drinking water fountains with lower dog fountains

We attended an Anniversary celebration with friends and loved the layout. Great view, warm room. If you're looking for a clean room for an event, give this venue a look-see.

The park is well maintained and is a safe area in LCH. The walking path is perfect for exercise with a lovely view of the lake and I-210 bridge. The fountain is nice also. Lots of ways to enjoy the outdoors at Prien Lake Park.

I like Prein Lake because everything you need is on the street. They have the mall, best buy, target, ross, and a host of restaurants. Try OCharles is a great place to eat also

This is a beautiful park with walking trails, pavillions, children's recreation area, and a gorgeous view . There is movies under the stars on Fridays. It also has a boat ramp. It is a lot of fun for the whole family.

Beautiful spot to take a break from your travels on I 10.. Take the golden nugget Blvd exit and head south less than a mile. Walk the dogs. let the kids run wild in the play ground. Mayor Roach was instrumental in turning this once eye sore into a gem in Lake Charles.. Kudos Mr. Mayor
