Not a bad seat in the house. Have visited many time and every seat was good. Parking garage is very close

We came up to see a comedy show. We had a great time. The theater is absolutely beautiful. The seats were fine. They had a little area where you could sit and get drinks and food before the show. Never knew this place was in the middle of Schenectady. We'll definitely look to coming to more shows here. Really beautiful

Proctor's Theatre is an old Vaudeville Theatre that's been beautifully renovated and is home to Broadway shows, special events and movies. The building itself also houses a weekly Sunday Greenmarket (inside during Fall and Winter months) as well as a cafe where you can buy something to eat or drink and comfortably sit to chat with friends and family. The GE Theatre is also inside the building; it's a smaller venue for special events and movies. Key Hall, a connected part of the old bank building next door, is used as an extension of the Greenmarket and also plays host to numerous special events. Proctor's is a wonderful part of the beautifully developed downtown Schenectady area, which contains restaurants, pubs and cafes pleasing to any palate or propensity. Well lit up at night, you can walk to Proctor's, the Jay Street pedestrian mall, the Bow Tie Cinema movie theatre, a restaurant or cafe. You can take a historic walk down Erie Boulevard, once home to a body of water known as the Erie Canal. I'm a fan of Schenectady's downtown and recommend you check it out.

Everytime I walk into Proctors, I feel Like Abe Lincoln walking into Fords Theater. The decor is unbelievable and the surroundings are comfortable. I understand they recently installed new seats. The ushers are always polite and helpful. The drink prices are actually not bad. The sound and lighting are always professional. The only problem I have is with ticket pricing. All the ad ons are bogus. Proctors is well worth the trip for shows concerts or comedians.

This is such a wonderful venue for Broadway shows ,musicals, and movies. I have attended several beautiful graduations at Proctors.

I cannot say enough about Proctors. Just the Theater itself is amazing and beats any theater on Broadway. The variety of shows is great from the Broadway series to comedy shows. If you get a chance to go to a show you won't be disappointed. Also many nice places to have dinner before show in walking distance.

girls night out with the Temptations and four tops it was great singing along with the oldies and just having fun!!

I started going to Proctors in the early 1970's, as a teenager, to see movies. After having been out of State for 37 years, I recently returned and saw a musical at Proctors in February, 2018, and we just loved the theater. It has not changed, and the old-fashion wood paneling is just gorgeous. The theater has tons of character, which certainly adds to whatever you are seeing there.

Beautiful Vaudeville type theatre in downtown Schenectady, NY. Newly renovated and host to many Broadway traveling shows. Check the website for their schedule. You could be lucky enough to catch Kenny Rodgers in town, or maybe catch a matinée performance of "Rent" or "The Wiz". No bad seats. I've sat everywhere in the theatre and the acoustics are next to perfect from anywhere. Last show I saw was a performance by the band "Chicago". Can't wait to see them again.

Love love love Proctors We get tickets whenever there is a show we like, usually the off Broadway musicals.

every time we go ushers are friendly and helpful, prices pretty reasonable most shows. times are pretty good. hate the parking and neighborhood but always worth the aggrevation

We went up to the Proctor Theater to see "The Book of Mormon". The Show was fabulous, but I couldn't stop looking at this amazing Theater. It is meticulously redone, it looks brand new. The seats are comfortable, and I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. It is quite a ride from downstate to see a show here, but I would do it again, just because of this amazing venue.

Great show, beautiful theater, not much else to do around town that we could find with teenagers but the show was superb and the seats were comfortable and staff were friendly. Good venue.

Great, not as good as movie! The fact that I was hungry did not help matters! Proctor's is always a great night!!

Proctors is an experience all its own. Even though I attend shows there many times each year I always marvel at the beauty of the theater itself. The shows are great! The Broadway shows are every bit as good as those on Broadway. I've been to shows both places so I am qualified to judge. Parking is free. Ambassadors are there for directions and safe street crossing.

Proctors is a beautiful and historic theater in Schenectady, NY in the middle of a bustling downtown. The shows are Broadway quality, and there are plenty of hotels and restaurants to make an enjoyable night out.

Proctor's Theater is absolutely beautiful and reminiscent of days gone by. Built in 1926 as a Vaudeville stage, it was renovated in 1979 and has been hosting Broadway theater shows, local artists, movies and other events. The theater is small so that every seat is good. Our wonderful seats for The Lion King were Orchestra Left row E which were perfect! There's not much to do in Schenectady, but this is worth making the trip. The Hampton Inn is next door to the theater and there are a few good restaurants within walking distance.

Great theater and roster of shows in nice part of town! Nicely decorated and near great restaurants and shops.

This was a travel back in time at the Groovin 60's and 70's show. It was a musical journey and the talent was outstanding! The artists looked and sounded like the originals...a great time was had by all.

To start with, Proctor's is gorgeous. It has been well-maintained and restored over the years and is a true gem. Great place to see movies, Broadway shows, music and whatever else they've got on offer. There's an eclectic mix of events and there's always something new to discover. The people who work there are lovely, very helpful and kind. I love everything about this place and I've been attending events here for 45 years.

Went to the Proctors to see the musical "Rock of Ages" the tenth anniversary tour!
The inside at first glance is majestic. You can almost feel the history this venue has experienced throughout the years.
Many shows and concerts have performed here.... the orchestra is graduated, the side boxes look like Regal sleighs, and the balcony extends over the a good portion of the lower seating.
Sitting in the lower level and looking up at the ceiling you can appreciate the art and architecture of the era.
All that said in the first twelve rows closest to the stage are not graduated and many of the seats are directly behind one another. This makes it impossible to see the whole stage because the person in front of you completely blocks your sight lines.
The seats in the back of the orchestra are better than the ones closest to the stage.
Enjoy the SHOW!

Very nice and comfortable venue for some super performances. Always something good going on at Proctors. Staff (lots of volunteers) are awesome.

This historical theater is gorgeous! The sound is excellent throughout, and it is really quite an experience to attend a show here!
The whole production of "Once" was top-notch...acting, costumes and especially the wonderful music performed by the amazing cast!
Truly enjoyable evening!

This place was just so wonderful. We really enjoyed our visit and show. We will be back again soon.

Have been here numerous times for plays. Nice and small and all seats have a great view. Kids sometimes have a hard time seeing over the people in front of them when up front.

Was in the states on a business trip staying close by. We decided to go see Les Mis. The theatre has a great atmosphere, very old fashioned from the architecture to the confectionery with a classy vintage style to it. The show was excellent, amazing sets and the lighting and props were very impressive. The sound in the theatre carried very well, we were seated on the balcony to the right as we bought tickets late, but we could still see relatively well and hear everything.
A slight blind spot from far back on the right of the stage but it's to be expected. I'd definitely buy more central seats and closer next time. Also the seats can be very uncomfortable if you are sitting for long periods of time, they're very close together and not much cushioning, plus they don't really have any flexibility so you end up shifting around your own body a lot to stop from cramping. That was the only real annoying thing.
Overall this is a great spot and if you're thinking of going to a show here you should definitely check it out, you won't be disappointed. I'd give it full marks if the seats were more comfortable.

Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Show was fabulous!! Beautiful place to visit. Top quality shows offered.

Theater staff and volunteers are exceptionally nice and helpful. Performances are always high quality and reasonably priced. The theater is clean and seats are comfortable. There is a history museum room -- lots of history in this well maintained theater. Neighborhood is safe and well-lighted. Great eateries conveniently located near the venue.

Went to Proctor's to see Blazing Saddles and Mel Brooks. The theatre was absolutely beautiful. It has been refurbished and they are fortunate to have a strong lineup of shows, many from NYC. The event was sold out and Proctor's had enough staff/volunteers to provide assistance for people. The downtown area of Schenectady has really been transformed over the last decade. There are a few hotels and a number of restaurant near the theatre. We parked a couple blocks away. Walking back to the car someone did stop us, trying to ask for money. We felt safe and, being from Philadelphia, just kept walking, thus it didn't phase us.

Comfy seats! Visited theater for a presentation for Ellis Hospital. Good amount of seating, air conditioned. Clean bathrooms.

Clean bathrooms and facilities plenty of affordable parking. Great shows and walk to dining. Uncrowded and clean streets surrounding the venue.

Went to Proctor's last week to see "something rotten". Each time I go I observe all the upkeep and improvements that are being done. We are so fortunate to have this beautiful theater in our midst!!

We have attended numerous plays, musicals, concerts and movies over the years. The facility, staff and offerings are always top-notch.
Probably ranks as the most beautiful venue upstate and easily surpasses many Broadway (NYC) theater district houses which have not been kept up.
Highly recommend !!!

Had a great time. Nice theater. Show was great and not bad seat in the house. Nice location close to restaurants and hotels

Smaller theater so most seats are good seats. We had a great time and will definetely go again. Only complaint is my husband is pretty tall and the seats are a little small. So not much leg room. But that wouldn't deter us from going again.

From Broadway shows to local theatre to movies, you can always find a great show at a great price. Beautiful old world charm inside and out awaits you at Proctors in Schenectady. They have many other small theaters within the building. Have a quick bite or a gourmet meal at the many restaurants in and around Proctors. Shop in the many unique stores in the Arcade. Something for everyone awaits you when you visit Proctors... Schenectady's jewel.

Well i have to say that Proctors is a very nice theatre. I've never been there before. There is alot of seating, some balcony seating. We went there this past weekend for Graduation. They did a very nice job. So Im sure shows there would be very good!

My wife and I visited Proctor's to see "Fun Home" after not making the hour drive from the Berkshires for many years. We had forgotten how easy the trip was, and how beautiful and comfortable the theater is. Parking was free in a convenient garage right near the theater. We arrived early and had a wonderful lunch in one of the many restaurants just a block away from Proctor's. We hope to visit much more regularly and look forward to receiving notices of upcoming performances and events.

We enjoyed the lovely setting, and the historical architecture of this building. We are always happy to see restoration and preservation.

Love this place! It is very beautiful! We usually sit center balcony. No bad seats though. We saw the Lion King this time. Spectacular show! Must see for sure!

This is a gorgeous theater and it seemed that any seat would have a very good view of the stage. Facility was clean and staff were extremely friendly. The down side....the seats...extremely uncomfortable and tight....I am not that large of a person and it felt cramped...and the seats were well worn....after 2.5 hours for a great show, it was quite uncomfortable. I hope they upgrade those soon and then this would be an A+ venue.

this review is more about the show than the venue. Brain Candy with Adam Savage (formerly with MythBusters) and some YouTube guy (Michael somebody or other). It was funny, educational and went by way too fast. The tickets were for my son from his sister, she was supposed to go but didn't get back from NoLa in time, so I went. I enjoyed it immensely as did my 20 year old son. Proctor's continues to get quality shows booked. Thumbs up to them

The roaring '20s come back to life in the fully restored grandeur of Proctor's theatre. The inside is a treat to behold. In addition to Broadway shows and world-class performers, Proctors hosts innumerable events either within its large lobbies or a side theatre, including art-themed summer camps, film festivals, farmer's markets, themed events and musical performances. It is surrounded by great places to eat and a vibrant rejuvenated and walkable downtown with convenient parking. It is the centerpiece of downtown Schenectady.

Have been a long-time patron of this theater but am now a first-time subscriber to their series of musicals for the 2015-2016 season. Saw the first play of the season on September 25th and it was wonderful; the acting was superb and the sets and costumes were fantastic. Proctor's is gorgeous and the staff members and volunteers are very helpful and friendly.

Our daughter drove up from CT to join us for "Something Rotten," which she had seen on Broadway and was excited to see it again. We really loved the show, as well as appreciative of the historic setting of Proctor's, truly a cultural jewel that we are fortunate to have in the Capital District.

Proctor's has part of the amazing history of Schenectady, New York. It has been completely renovated to its historic beauty. The acoustics are great and the talent they attract is Broadway quality.
This is a place you have to visit!

This is a beautiful theatre with plenty of character. Wonderful live performances and movies. A real class act

Proctors has become a premiere entertainment facility with multiple venues offering great events. Every day the Theatre is open, there is a event to bring in an audience. It has become the gem of the Capital Region.

Date of visit: Saturday, January 18th, 2020
We went to the proctor's theatre to see the show "Once on This Island" starring Tamyra Gray.
The theatre is a grand place with a beautiful marquee and street front appearance.
This was our first time going to this theatre and we really enjoyed it. It is beautiful and very grand. A great space to see a show.
They have a nice entranceway concession area seating and stage.
There is a parking garage around the corner which was free of charge when we were there.

I have been for multiple shows and a graduation at Proctors. I swear there is no such thing as a bad seat here. It's a beautiful theater, some seats seem tighter than others sometimes on the hips, but it's always a great view regardless. Park in the parking garage and its a close walk to the back of Proctors.

Beautiful theater and seating. Cute shops and small concessions. Free parking. Lots of places to eat nearby but you probably need a reservation. Only wish Proctor's would spend some of their profits on updating their bathrooms and bathroom supplies (super thin toilet tissue paper, old/crummy paper towel holders, ancient soap dispensers, dirty grout and lighting appliances). Would come again for the right show.

We made a five hour drive to see Neil deGrasse Tyson. Of course the show was brilliant but the theater really provided an excellent setting. Great acoustics, comfortable seats, ambience wonderful. The staff was also excellent. They immediately resolved a ticket issue with a third party seller, were lovely to deal with and were amiable throughout. Drinks and nibbles were reasonably priced unlike ballpark prices. Fine venue.

The show was fantastic and we all enjoyed it. There doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house as far as being able to see the show. Not exactly the most comfortable seats, but worth it for the fantastic shows!

If you have not experienced a Broadway show at Proctor's Theater, you are really, really missing out! We have just seen 2 phenomenal shows the last couple of months, An American In Paris and Dirty Dancing. The sets were amazing as well as the cast, the costumes, and the orchestra. Both shows were excellent. And you see all of this while sitting in this beautiful, old, ornate theater that reminds me of being in Europe! Proctor's also shows movies and offers a variety of events throughout the year including singers, comedians, variety shows, orchestras, dance recitals, etc. that should also not be missed.

We love the historic theaters and drove from Rochester just to see Celtic Woman here. The staff was very friendly, although one of the volunteers assumed I was video taping the bagpipes. Didn't like that. But all in all the sound and seats were amazing.

I remember going here to see movies as a kid, it was quite a theater. It has come a long way with its shoes and remodeling and additions, Great place to see shows and bring the family. comfortable seats and friendly greeters, Great shows for every ones entertainment, Love going there .

This is a staple for our community and maintains culture in downtown Schenectady. Always entertaining and bringing good shows close to home.

We go to a lot of shows of all kinds at Proctors and we're never disappointed. Recently renovated, the main stage hall is beautiful and like stepping back in time. The sound is quite good throughout the hall and seats have a good view of the stage. Proctors is a cultural hub for the region and well worth a visit and a show.

This year my husband bought a subscription for the 2917-2018 season. This was a great purchase. Proctor's is a great place to see a Broadway show. I have seen many great shows here and have enjoyed them all. Great sound quality and a beautiful theatre.

We had the chance to see “the King and I” and totally loved it. Wonderful costumes, stage sets, orchestra and cast. Loved the voices as well as the story. Packed theater but helpful volunteers/ushers.

Staff are polite and friendly. Always a pleasure to see shows there. The volunteers are also great in helping people with finding their seats in the theater.

We absolutely love Proctor's! Always great shows and the theater is beautiful. Every seat is perfect. If you haven't seen a show here, go!

They don't make them like this anymore. Absolutely breathtaking. Worth coming to Schenectady just to see this place.

Wife and I saw Something Rotten during January at Proctor's Theater. The cast was excellent; we had unbelievable seats in the 4th row center. We also saw both of the Deconstructing the Beatles in the GE theater @ Proctor's.

Awesome venue to see any type of show or concert. Beautifully restored. Decent acoustics. Relatively tight seating as many theaters from that era, but seats are comfortable. Relatively easy access from/to highway. Easy access to parking. Many wonderful restaurants within walking distance.

Our most recent visit was to see Martin Short and Steve Martin, a terrific show! And our first time back since new seating (YAY!) was installed. Always an excellent experience for every age! My husband and I took family members to a show 2 years ago my niece was using crutches and a wheelchair post surgery and the staff was so kind getting us in and her seated(as well as others with needs), the wheelchair stowed just ahead of the doors opening to all

Saw Body Guard. Excellent fantastic musical. Would go back and see it again. Proctors is a great venue. Great service, sound and lighting system. Excellent and helpful staff. highly recommend Proctors

It was my first time at proctors and I saw the two man show from "who's line is it anyway". Great show! Very funny! The staff was extremely helpful with helping us find our seats. The drinks were affordable. The theater was very clean. The theater is so beautiful and historical. Plenty of parking at the theater and a nearby parking garage. You pay to park at the theater although I heard the parking garage is free. Had a great time. Can't wait to go there for another show.

On January 5, 2018, I attended a performance of "Chicago" which was excellent. However, only twenty minutes after the show, I was locked out of the theater and forced into 3 degree weather by the custodian. I was unable to walk to the parking garage due to age and disabilities and was waiting for my ride, when he insisted that I leave the premises and go out into the cold. He was steadfastly unconcerned about my health and well-being in the extreme temperature outside. Despite my protests he forced me to leave. Never again will I attend any performance at this theater.

Good show. They oversold the premium seats,so I had a NY style confrontation with the person in the reserved seats I paid for. I AM NOT FROM THE RUDEST STATE IN THE NATION. I have learned to be just as rude as them.
I have neen back for other performances and didn't have to act like a New York native

We have been to several shows here and have never been disappointed. From musical groups to films and plays it has been a joy. It is nice to see the theater restored to it's glory days. They have done an excellent job with it.
They are able to book big name groups here and top notch plays. We will continue to come.

First off, this is about Procter’s for which Schenectady is forever grateful. There are a variety of shows and entertainment throughout the year that is wonderful. My only issue is...I want more, more often!
Last seen was the Boston Pops Holiday Concert. Fabulous. They are always great! Check out a play or concert there and keep the stage lit.

We have been to quite a few shows at proctors and we always have a good experience. The only tricky thing is finding a good parking spot, oftentimes you have to pay extra to park. The last show we were at was pretty empty and the staff let us move into better seats closer to the front.

Over the years, I have attended many, many shows at this beautiful and historic theater, sitting everywhere from the front row in the orchestra to the last row on the balcony. There is simply not a bad seat in the house. The sound quality is great and I have always found it to be very clean. Every year I look forward to receiving their season brochure to see which wonderful Broadway shows are being brought to Schenectady at a fraction of the cost. Free parking is available in a covered garage just steps from the building. Exiting after a show gets busy and time-consuming, but that is to be expected at any venue and you can't beat the price.

THe theatre is beautifully maintained, the staff are friendly and helpful and this production was wonderful

Proctor's Theater is an absolutely great venue in downtown Schenectady for plays, movies and live shows. We went see Something's Rotten....a Broadway show making its first appearance since closing down in NYC. The theater has Broadway cache without NYC prices and is the heart of Downtown Schenectady leading a revitalization of shops and great restaurants. No need to schlep down to NYC's crowds and prices to enjoy an evening at the theater. Proctor's is the way to go!!!

no matter where you sat the view was great. it's beautiful inside. It has a lot of room where you can meet family and friends.

My husband and I saw that the Broadway travel show of the Lion King was on stage here so we traveled down for an impromptu date night. This theater is a beautifully restored place with great seats anywhere you sit. The staff was helpful and engaging and we had a wonderful time. The theater is easy to access, there are several snack bars and even an adult bar for beverages. I was surprised that they allowed drinks and food in the seating area. Outside the theater, there is a promenade type walkway with a cafe, a few small shops and inside access to the Parker Inn hotel which is also a treat. We will absolutely look for other shows here in the future!

Went last Friday to see Cirque Eloize Hotel. The music, staging, and performances were all very entertaining.

Proctors is a great place to see a show. Centrally located in the downtown area. They are replacing all the seating this summer which will make it even better. Quality, broadway shows can be seen here for a reasonable price without traveling to NYC. They always have a great lineup with something for all tastes. Free parking is available in the nearby garage for any evening show after 5 pm. Also many nearby restaurants within walking distance.

I have seen many shows here from inside the big theater to the sometimes unknown small theater where they have great comedic acts. The Theater its self is beautifully kept, the parking is plentiful behind the theater and across the side street. They have top acts and if you want to spend a fraction of what you would in some of the NYC theaters who aren't even as nice as this then this is the place to go to. It's a diamond in the Capital District Area. I've never been disappointed seeing a show here.

Its a nice old small historical theatre. I saw Beetlejuice here. There really isn't too many bad seats here. I was in the third row. Just be aware that the theater was from the 1920's. People were skinny back there. This is to say its very tight seating with your arms to your body the whole time. I would come back here.

No matter what the entertainment is.....whether you enjoyed it or not...Proctors beauty is breath taking. Easy to go through, comfortable seating and there truly is not a bad seat in the house. The history runs throughout the theater....if you close your eyes you can hear the performances of the past.....

Attended several shows and a wine festival. The location has a parking garage and is conveniently located next to several restaurants for before or after dinner/drinks. The line of site to the stage is good from every seat. They offer a wide variety of Broadway productions, comedy, music and events. Old architecture is wonderful.

We've had a subscription to Proctor's for several years but recently I visited the box office to switch my tickets. Although the tickets were clearly marked that they were not exchangeable, I explained I was unable to make the performance due to family surgery. I could not have been treated nicer. Not only were the tickets exchanged but the box office employee worked hard to find seats in the same general location as my usual seats. I cannot thank the lovely employee enough for his kindness and understanding. Another reason to love Proctor's.

This is a must see location while you're in the Schenectady area. It offers a wide variety of celebrity concerts and Broadway performances. There's also a movie theater in the complex. Its been totally renovated and restored to its original charm. Most seating is great for any performance. However, don't get a seat near the front corners of the stage. You won't be see everything on stage.

This is a must see if you come near the Capitol region. I saw many movies at this Theater when I was a kid ( 2 features, news, & a cartoon) - great 50"s hangout. Vaudeville was big here from the early 20's on.This theater was completely revamped ( it's beautiful) in the last several yrs and is a main attraction for great musicals and various entertainment that has appeared in NY City as well in other major US cities. There are shows for all (kids, young adults & older folks) and tickets go quick for top rated entertainment. Purchase a beverage, get ushered to your seat (if necessary) relax & enjoy some terrific evening.

Love this place. I grew up coming to this theater for dance recitals and orchestra. Beautiful theater.

Beautiful old vaudeville theater is the gem of Schenectady with theater offerings throughout the year. Wonderful variety of entertainment. Not to be missed!

This NYC theater enthusiast is a big Proctor's fan but today I had an incredible experience. I completed an online order and realized I'd made a mistake while selecting seats. I immediately went to the Box Office with my reservation in hand and I was blow away by the gracious, accommodating customer service provided by this theater. Peter was a prince. He completely understood what I'd done and did everything he could to fix my mess. I encourage anyone who lives in the area or who visits to support this incredible performing arts venue. The shows are great, the theater is gorgeous, and I can't say enough about customer service. The Box Office staff could teach lessons on how to make the public feel valued. Three cheers!

I am a subscription holder and attend plays and other activities at Proctors. The venue is outstanding. If you enjoy theater you should visit Proctors.

I've been going to Proctor's Theatre since I was a child and catch a show every chance I get. I love the nostalgia of this old vaudeville theatre including the beautiful detailed décor throughout. Also going to a movie there is just as special, especially sitting in the balcony. If you can't make it to Broadway, eventually some shows make it to Proctor's. This theatre is the best thing Schenectady has to offer and I hope it continues to stay open for years to come.

This theater has such a storied history. It is an awesome venue for all types of events. My two daughters performed there many times as a conclusion to dance lessons with recitals. I have seen so many performances, but one really got my attention about how special this place is. During a Tony Bennett concert, Mr. Bennett stops everything and starts talking about how much of a gem this place is. He talked about how unfortunate it would be for any bad to happen to it and goes on to show us why. He unplugs his microphone and proceeds to sing, "Fly Me to the Moon" without any back up and it is clear that the folks in the back row can hear him loud and clear. What a special place. We see movies, comedy shows, Broadway hits, and other concerts in the main theater and other venues inside. If you have not been there..........go!!

Recently attended a Christmas show at this beautiful theater. It was worth the 3 hour trip from Massachusetts.

Beautiful theater with a physical presence that is reminiscence another era. Excellent lines of sight and acoustically pleasing. It is possible to have glitches in ticket process or an annoying seat neighbor but that can be said of any venue. I've never had a bad experience and I appreciate the effort the volunteers put forward. We went to listen to David Brooks the NY Times columnist and PBS political analyst and his discussion and the setting of Proctor's made for an uplifting evening. PS dinner at Johnny's across the street was delightful, but that's another review.

Second time to Proctor's Theater. Nice venue about 20 minutes from Albany. Variety of entertainment. We have only seen comedy here and enjoyed it both times. Seats are a little small (I am not a big person) and can be tight. Overall beautiful venue with dining, drinks and Hampton Inn very nearby.

Great theater! Decorations are over the top with gold foil! The shows are always really amazing. Highly reccomend

Proctors is a gem with outstanding shows on a regular basis that bring thousands of people to downtown Schenectady. This supports the any restaurants in the downtown area also. No matrer.what the reason you go to.Proctors, it is a special.place you can enjoy.

1st time @ Proctor's and was impressed with the theater & staff. Beautiful theater! The show, Shen Yun, was very disppointing. Some theater goers left the show early. I just felt something was off and couldn't put my finger on it until on the way home, Googled the show. It's not a dance program but a religious & political cult. The backdrops were videos and very strange with heavenly skies & figures, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there were subliminal messages in those videos. Pure brainwashing. Advertising overload - supposedly a non-profit enterprise. MC'S teaching the audience "I love shen yun" in Chinese. At end of show giving out free posters...propaganda.
I will rate the theater 5 stars and the show 0 stars

Mamma Mia was perfectly entertaining! Thoroughly enjoyable show through and through.
The Theater is grand; reminiscent of earlier theaters in New York. Take advantage of one
of Schenectady's highlights-see a play, watch a Christmas show, enjoy music like Everest
Rising. It's there and it's worth a visit!

The Theater was upgraded so it is more majectic than ever. The ditrector, Philip Morris, is a champion organizer and is irreplaceable. Many of the same shows that are on Broadway are presented here. we saw Wicked and it was excelent

yes it is a bit dated but love to come here for many different shows, parking is not bad either pay or if you get there early and want to walk a short distance you can park on the street,

I was very disappointed in the quality of the movie Star Trek II. Film very grainy and dark. Sound was no better than a Hi-Fi set back in the 50's. On the other hand the question and answer session with William Shatner was great. Probably a great place to go to for a show, but not a movie. Cost for this event was way to high.

Great annual show by the Schenectady Youth singing and music groups again this year
Money raised goes to the children's cancer center a Albany Med
Great cause and the theater is always packed for all four shows.

What a lovely evening! My father-in-law was in town celebrating his 70th birthday and we wanted a night out. The Melodies program was beautifully done and, as always, there isn't a bad seat in the house!

Went to the amazing Proctor's Theater in Schenectady to see "On Your Feet". The theater is comfortable and beautiful to see a show. There is not a bad seat. Be sure to check out all the details of the architecture. Highly recommend that if you are in the area to check it out.

My wife and I along with another couple attended the Proctor's Theatre recently for a concert featuring vocal groups from the sixties. What a beautiful building. This theatre was opened in December 1926, but became very run down and in a bad state during the 60's and 70's. In late 2007 a multi million dollar expansion and refurbishment to make it what is today was completed. It is one of the nicest theatres that we have been in and the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. The seats were comfortable and roomy. The acoustics were great and the view of the stage was perfect. The furnishings are all very nice and really add to this Grand Old Theatre. The people of Schenectady have a place to be proud of and we hope to return some day soon.

I recently attended a performance of The Lion King at Proctors in Schenectady. Although this review is not of the performance itself, I can't help but comment on the absolute beauty of this production. The play itself was a true work of art, and the cast was superb. The theatre is lovely, and the acoustics were excellent. There were a few issues though that I wanted to comment on that detracted from our overall experience. While the theatre is lovely, our group felt very uncomfortable with the size of the seats - they are rather small and not terribly comfortable. I was literally touching shoulders with the person next to me - since I wasn't acquainted with this person, I didn't find this to be particularly comfortable throughout the performance and I felt like I was trying to shift right the whole time. I am of a 5-8 135 pound woman so if they felt tight to me, then I would imagine that they feel a bit tight to many. It seems a shame in such a beautiful venue to have seats that detract from the experience. Perhaps on a future renovation they can upgrade the seating. The other issue we had was with the crowd control prior to the performance. We arrived a full hour before the performance and the halls were lined with theatre goers and no where to get onto the line without being outside so we were told to come into the middle and wait till the doors opened. We did that, but then were not allowed onto the existing line, but were redirected OUTSIDE to get at the end of the line as people were coming in from the outside. This was after being there for a full hour prior to showtime. We were continually pushed and shoved and quite honestly I found people to be quite uncivil. We weren't going to get anywhere any faster, and by the time I was seated I was a bit tired of feeling the crowd pressing in on me. I personally feel that they need to do a better job of crowd control and I overheard many people expressing this sentiment as we were waiting to get into the theatre. It is a shame that the seats and the crowds detracted from an otherwise fantastic experience. I really hope that Proctors will try to remedy both of these situations because other than that, this theatre really is a little gem.

Look around you and you are transported back almost 100 years, right back to the vaudeville days. Beauty surrounds you and the productions here are always first class. The good news is that you don't have to travel very far from home. What a jewel.

I've seen many productions here: Wicked, Shrek, Lion King, Jersey Boys, Carmen and most recently Les Miserables. I don't know why I've never thought to review Proctors. Perhaps because it's down the street I take it for granted. Our theater competes with any of that on Broadway.

The "road" shows that come to Proctors are as good or better than the originals! Saw Book of Mormon on b'way and then at Proctors. Frankly, the Proctors production was better, for example.

Have attended many shows throughout the years and can attest to the value of each and every show offerring

We have been to Proctor's many times and absolutely love it. It is a beautiful old theater in downtown Schenectady and has a wonderful feel to it. The shows are great and the staff is always helpful and polite to everyone. Parking, free, is convenient in a parking garage just a two minute walk from the theater. It has quality shows and I recommend it highly.

It is nice to have this theater right in our back yard. There is a wide array of offerings from Broadway shows to concerts to beer festivals to comedy, etc

Been here countless times and it’s a gem of a theatre. New York Broadway productions at half the price. I would suggest it should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Great venue. The first Wednesday matinee was a disappointment. Raoul was weak and Christine was overwhelmed by the Phantom.

I love proctors. I go frequently, by myself, with my sons and looking forward to taking my grandson.

The show was fantastic and the performers and orchestra were top notch! What an opportunity for these kids! They put their heart and soul into the performance and you could see it in their faces.

Proctor's has become the "community center" for Schenectady. In fact, Proctor's has contributed significantly to the revitalization of Schenectady. How? Restaurants depend on the theater customers. That is, the theater brings popular plays from NYC (and other places) as well as great artists to our city. Many restaurants remain open extra hours after Proctor's events. In fact, there are Proctor's dinners in each restaurant. These are meals that are prepared especially for theater goers. They are good and quick to serve. Proctors is also an educational venue and many of the debates for city mayor have taken place at the GE theater. Proctors often shows foreign movies or movies which are pretty good but didn't make it to our commercial theaters.
Proctors brings many popular plays which are much less expensive than if you watched them in Manhattan. It is a comfortable venue, it seats around 2500 people and has many places to eat before and after the event.

Large conference room (named G.E. Room, I think). Acoustics were good, awesome large screen for power point presentation, but room lighting was terrible. Very dark in some spots and other spots had overhead flood lights shining in their faces.

This is a really pretty theatre. The performance are just as great as the shows in NYC. We really enjoy going here less traffic easy to park. There are also many very good restaurants in the area.

Key Hall is adjacent to Proctor's. Went to a wedding last night. The room is the old Key Bank buidling attached to Proctors and run by Proctors. The food was good. Cocktail orderves here excellant. The room is gorgeous the acoustics are awful. The high ceilings and shape of the room made the music and conversation difficult. Why don't these places put some kind of fabric hanging or something for the walls? I will attach a few photos they aren't the greatest I took them with my cell phone.

I've been several times and it's always amazing, the history, the acoustics and the volunteers. We've seen shows and movies. They give a tour that explains the vaudeville history of the building.

I have been to a lot of shows at this place, but one is so special. The acoustics this venue are amazing as shown by no other than Tony Bennett. During his performance, he stopped the show and started talking about the amazing acoustics for a place that sears over 3,000. He unplugged and started singing Fly Me to The Moon and when he stopped he addressed the back row and asked if they heard that and the place erupted with applause. A very special moment from a very special guy. Love this place!!

A must visit and watch the play at Proctor's if you are in and around Schenectady. Watched a Broadway camp and it was fabolously performed by college students. Theatre has a good Architecture. Small gift shop is good to pick some souvenirs.

Proctors always has first rate shows ad movies.
The Melodies at Christmas is a must see and the money goes to the Children's Cancer center at Albany Medical
Free parking in the parking garage.

Wonderful theater, I have been for only a few plays and went with the preschool group once. It's a very ornate and beautiful theater with not really a bad seat in the place!!

Have been to several traveling musicals at this venue. The quality of the performances is consistently good. Proctor's is a beautiful old theater, although there are some acoustical problems with such a large venue.

All events were canceled back in mid march so called to have a refund to credit card which they have on file and was assured it would be.It has been over a month and three phone calls and told my name was on the list for refunds. Now I have had to cancel trip and flights for march and the refund was there in a week or less.It seems they are just incompetent or happy to hold onto my money and many others as long as they can.Areal sham operation.

My husband and I have been season subscribers now for 6 years. This is our 7th season. Our season entitles us to 6 plays at a discount price. We had first access this past summer to see Hamilton. Most people that aren't subscribers couldn't even get
tickets for Hamilton. We just saw Frozen a week ago and really enjoyed it. Are there ever plays that we aren't interested in seeing? Occasionally. We can exchange our
tickets for another play or return them and get a credit to use at another time. Proctors is a beautiful theatre. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. Treat yourself to a night at the theatre!

Always a perfect experience. The musicals are prime entertainment and are first class.
Like to go in the fall and winter seasons.

I've been to several plays at Proctors and found the actors are excellent. Getting in and out is pretty easy as long as you know your way around. Parking garage on side street. My biggest issue is the seating is the worse I've ever experienced seeing a play or show. I've seen them in all kinds of places including New York City. The chairs are very close together and there isn't enough rise in the rows to offset people sitting in front of you blocking your view. I probably won't go there again until they fix the seats or I get a front row seat.

Brought me back to being 16 again!! I just love Proctors Theater..there's just no better venue!! Whether it's a movie or Broadway show..always stunning!!

Now that Proctors has renovated and expanded their stage I can see the top shows and not have to go to NYC. Lion King awesome....Cats spectacular....Rent fantastic....all the best shows.

Great revised version of the Broadway play with the road company. Especially loved the performance of the actor portraying the Wizard! So talented! Really enjoyed the scenic designs & special effects. The soundtrack is a favorite of ours.

This gorgeous vaudeville era theater has been lovingly restored and presents first rate shows all year. You can see musicals, concerts, dance, even inexpensive movies. There is a whole new crop of good restaurants nearby to feed the theater goers. The building also houses a gallery, cafe, and a black box theater for small shows. Easy parking behind the building or in the big lot across the street.

This a great venue to see a broadway type of show, or a movie on the big screen. We are season subscribers to the Broadway shows, so we go @ 6 times a year. The volunteers are great, the snacks are good, and the cafe across the way is fantastic. There is a parking garage nearby, so you just can't beat Proctors!!

Proctor's gets a lot of really good shows that have been on Broadway. We like to come here because parking is easy in the garage across the street and you can see where your seats are before you purchase tickets.

They have awesome shows on all levels! I don't think that there's a bad seat in the house. I have gone there since I was a little kid.

Whether you fancy Broadway shows or folk music at the in-residence Eighth Step coffeehouse, Proctor's Theater is an amazing venue. I have seen "Phantom of the Opera" and a Motown review at this venue, as well vintage movies, and am a regular at productions of the Eighth Step. They also have an outstanding exhibition in the hallway of historical artifacts from the vaudeville days, when the theater hosted shows featuring people such as George Burns and Jimmy Durante. Next week I will be going to the Irving Berlin Christmas revue. You can find something that will suit your fancy at Proctor's.

We are so lucky to have Proctors so close to home. It is an evening of pure enjoyment. We recently saw Chicago and it was amazing!!!!

Proctor's provides a beautiful venue for touring Broadway shows at affordable prices with complimentary parking conveniently located across the street in the parking garage. Several nice restaurants are located a stone's throw from the theater as well as a cafe inside the lobby. Tickets need to be purchased in advance from the box office or on line.

Love going to see shows at Proctor's. We have a family tradition to see the Christmas shows each year. We also see Melodies of Christmas each year. Love the beauty of the building.

There are so many Broadway shows that Proctors offer. Love the ambience, place and crowd. Register on their site to get pre-offers, coupons etc.

There are no bad seats in this theater ...one of the best places to see a show or a movie...the sounds is always perfect and the stages they create are phenomenal...

While this venue has 50+ years of my own personal memories it continues to grow in style, popularity, and support. It has everything needed by a performer, producer, and audience. It seems like every city had an old theatre that has tried to be saved. Proctors received the help it needed and more. The restoration was a slow process but it never stopped. Improvements and additions have made Proctors the best of old and new.

We were able to take a “back stage” tour of Proctors. So much to see and learn. Was an excellent tour conducted by Marylin. Took us places that you can only see on a tour like this. What history and saw much of what goes on behind the scenes. Was fantastic. Thank you Proctors and Marilyn

We attended a packed performance of The Sound of Music over the weekend. Proctors is marginally able to handle a crowd like this. There was a 20-minute intermission and this was not enough time to for everyone to go to the bathroom. The men’s room that I used had soap in only one dispenser and it was subsequently taken over by women due to the great length of their line. It is really insulting, annoying, and frankly absurd to have ushers telling a large line that that the show starts in 4 minutes. We all paid significant dollars to attend this show and should not have to feel this tension due to the lack of appropriate bathroom facilities. Come on Proctors let’s get it together. Either create more bathrooms or stop harassing the bathroom lines and have a longer intermission.

Proctors is a treasure. Sure it's a theater but it's so much more to the community. It's a fantastic piece of architecture that's been lovingly restored to its original splendor. It's a large venue but acoustics are good. The best thing about Proctors, though is the amazing array of off-Broadway plays. Top quality entertainment can always be found here. And with the huge array of great food options nearby you can put together a night out on the town to remember. Parking is usually not an issue although it can take a while to get out of town after a show.

Saw Summer: The Donna Summer Musical at Proctor's. Music and actors were wonderful. Set design was lacking. A chronicle of Donna Summers' life. An interesting story line. Proctor's is an older theater. Seats are on the narrow side. It is wheelchair accessible, but only available seats are in the rear of the auditorium. Staff was very accommodating and found appropriate seating for my scooter. Did not visit restroom.

I attended the Sunday afternoon matinee of "Something Rotten" with a few co-workers and we truly enjoyed our Proctors experience. All of the staff members we encountered from the box office to the ushers were extremely friendly and efficient. The show was fantastic and had us laughing from start to end. The only negative comment/bit of advice I have is that the seats in the balcony are extremely tight and leave little leg room. Taller people should take that into consideration when making seating selections. Despite this, I believe Proctors Theater to be a true gem of the capital region.

Every seat is amazing its so elegant inside. I love going to see the musicals and concerts there. Lion King was fantastic saw Cinderella there and Jersey Boys.

Proctors was rehabilitated and we almost lost this beautiful place. Been going there to see movies on the screen. They have a gift shop too. So when a Broadway musical come to town, they gave gifts from that show. Come and see for yourself.

Proctors is the best place to go to see a concert or a play. The sound system is awesome. The place is old with a lot of history there. It's worth any price. There is no bad seat either.

Have been to Proctor's several times over the past few years...and I've never been disappointed. Seats have been distributed in different areas - but as of yet - haven't found a "bad" place to enjoy a concert on the main stage. Getting there early is also a treat, as we frequent the available wine bar located inside. A quaint place, nice to sit and enjoy a fine glass of wine before the main event. Can't wait to go back in June to see Little River Band - a blast from the past!!!
Parking - have never had a horrible experience finding a place to park, but it certainly helps to get there early, and avoid squeezing into an area already packed with cars.

The John Cleese / Monty Python show was indicating it was Sold Out online. I called the box office and inquired about tickets (I only needed 1) and was told there are "limited view" tickets still available. They advised to get a ticket the night of the performance at the box office to save the online fees. I arrived and was able to get one of those tickets that was located in the "loge" section of the theatre. My view wasn't limited, just at an awkward angle that was acceptable. The only piece of info they left out was that the seat was not a regular theatre seat but a banquet type chair. That was the only "uncomfortable" part of the whole last minute ticket purchase.
As always, the volunteer staff at the theatre was very helpful and always at hand to offer assistance. The beer was cold and the popcorn was fresh, can't ask for much more.... The show was great too!

The singing, dancing, costumes, stage settings and SNOW...unbelievable! The talent & production tops anything I've seen on Broadway. What an absolutely delightful show right here in Schenectady!

I’m a subscriber so I purchase tickets for most shows. The box office is easy to deal with, good customer service skills. Theatre is clean. Decent selection of shows each year. Parking is plentiful and close.

Great "off Broadway" adventure the huge list of performances, for everybody, full of rich history, magnificent.

Mark this on your calendar as a must do for next year... if your Christmas spirit is lacking in anyway this program, the dancers and these young musicians will take care of this!Fun for all ages!

What a fantastic show!!!! The proctor is a beautiful theater that makes you just sit in your seat a look around and marvel at the architecture. The staff are friendly & efficient for the most part, during intermission it took a few minutes to get refreshments due to older staff not being able to use credit card scanner/swipers. But other than that it is a wonderful place to go. We attended a matinee and it was a perfect afternoon. We had great parking in front of theater (no charge on weekends) and there are many restaurants & pubs to have lunch and a drink at before or after.
I will definitely be checking their yearly program schedule & making the trip again.

I plain love this place even with its age blemishes-hey millenials just you wait to start to grow old

My family is from this area. I used to go to Proctors with my Grammas when I was a little girl. Each time I go, I step back in time. I love the facility from the comfortable seats (and I'm chubby) to the wallpaper and beautiful lights. The sound is awesome,,,but honestly I love the memories of a time gone by. I can almost hear my Grandmother whispering in my ear when I'm there...."welcome back". We just saw "Something Rotten" and it was fabulous. We have seen other shows as well.

A wonderful theater for great stage shows. Beautifully restored thanks to many people.
Everything is first-class.

Almost every seat is great at Proctor's Theater! The many attendants make the experience wonderful, and provide help and direction as needed. Parking is usually not a problem and buses are welcomed. There are snacks available for purchase as well as roomy bathroom facilities. As for the show, you will think you are at a Broadway-like performance. Acoustics are great! This is fun venue.

Oh Proctors... You're not the prettiest theatre around, but we love you because you're a theatre in the heart of Schenectady and you bring us amazing international shows and performances right to our little town.
Went to a couple of performances here. Small theatre, but VERY capable. World class performance and setup. Enjoyed every moment.
Only reason for a 4 instead of a 5 is that the building is once again showing its age in so many ways. Needs a bit of attention. Hopefully they can secure additional funding.
We would definitely recommend a visit. Schenectady's "little theatre that could".

What a great little movie theater with some top notch films! I've been able to see Book Club, the Mr Rogers movie and 3 Identical Strangers. Both documentaries were fascinating

We have been to this theater many times for shows. The place is always beautiful and clean. Staff is excellent and helpful. LOVE LOVE dancing 🕺 💃

A delight to visit. Big theater, small town. I have attended plays and quilt shows there. Both times I found parking right outside. Plus went to dinner at a nearby restaurant.

This is a historic venue with great sight lines, and is simply a beautiful performance venue in the city where industrial genius was born.
Go to an event there you will enjoy it.
the Doctor.

Proctor's brings high quality, world renoun shows to the Capital District. Easy ticket purchases available online and friendly ushers at every show.

Attended a chess tournament held here on the second floor of the building. The theater is a great location, free parking in the rear of the building when there is not an event. State street has many options for a quick bite to eat.

Old beautiful theater from Vaudeville days....center of Schenectady night life for all types of entertainment, . Great attraction for the new Rivers Casino and Resort. Take a backstage tour when offered or visit the theater museum on mezzanine during a show for great historical info. Free parking at parking garage across the back entrance to the theater complex for most shows at the theater....(at desk to see if you need to have validation)

We went to see the Book of Mormon. The play was excellent and so was the theater. The employees were friendly and the seating was excellent. The water fountains in the theatre could use a little work. Sub-par pressure and draining.

Three generations of my family attended The Phantom of The Opera at Proctor's Theater. We thought showing up an hour early would be wise. Unfortunately, there was no one giving clear directions to everyone that showed up early, which led to multiple moving lines leading to locked doors into the seating area. It felt like this was the first show the was hosted here. No written signs posted or employees giving direction to the crowd...
The show started late. I would be surprised to hear that everyone made it into their seat on time
after using the necessary restroom. The show was well done but while some patrons remarked how the dialogue was too muted, others were uncomfortable with the volume being to loud?
Nice theater, good show. I feel sympathetic for the ladies waiting in the long line for a bathroom break...

Proctor's bring great shows to the Schenectady market. We have never had a bad seat, I think every seat has a great view of the stage. The volunteers are very friendly and helpful in seating you.

Great shows organ recitals theater tours the shows are on a old vaudaville stage. Alot of old preformers have been at this theater. If you get a chance to take the theater tour take it 1 1\2 hr tour. Cant beat the price. The ticket office usually knows when the tours are scheduled. Alot of nastalgia in the old carl display windows about the theater. The arcade has alot of memrobelia about the thearer also. Ask someone that works for proctors about the history of proctors and the arcade at the entrance of the theaters.

Went to see a show and were treated wonderfully! The venue is spectacular!ly beautiful! I will definitely see more shows there!

Alas I wasn't there for any live performance but did see a film in their boutique film room, and later toured the venue. The interior is really quite spectacular and either beautifully renovated or incredibly well-maintained from its 1926 origin: the performance theater, the murals, the chandeliers and the original fireplaces - all wonderful. There seems to be a vast variety of performances scheduled at all times of the year from theater to opera. I took a program should I be back again. The staff was delightful and there is even a cafe for snacks and meals. The place is a real gem and even among modern theatrical events, you feel transported back in history to a more genteel time.

With parking and restaurants nearby, it's always an enjoyable experience. The nearby garage is always free during shows. Quality if talent is very good.

I have never had a bad experience at Proctors. The staff is very friendly and the building is beautiful. My only complaint is that the seats are pretty uncomfortable and you better be friendly with the person next to you because you will certainly be close.

nice & good seating small theater good performances, is also used for graduation, has a balcony section

Love seeing anything in this beautiful gem of a theater. Several times shows are are well staged as the Broadway versions! Sounds like it was for Lion King, spectacular staging!

Broadway shows. Singers. Dancers. Music. Comedians. What do you want? It's here. And at half or two-thirds of what you'd pay in New York City. Free parking in the garage just across Broadway. They even have a seating chart giving the width of every seat in the entire theater just in case you're looking for a wider seat. If you're tall, leg room might be a problem upstairs (except for row "A" in the balcony). And you might lose some of the stage if you're sitting way, way over to the left or right downstairs. There's a coat check just outside the theater in the arcade. Acoustics are good. I think I've enjoyed everything I've ever seen there. Oh, wait. I forgot. The play "Rent." I managed to sit through the first act and left during intermission with half the audience. Hey, they can't all be diamonds.

We took our kids to see the lion king on april 9th we loved the show. we are planning to take our kids to see another show soon

Nicely renovated old time theater reminiscent of my childhood Community Theater. Not too big. easy parking close by and excellent acoustics. Saw the Irish Tenors here and it was a great show with good views even from near the rear

Always enjoy going to this local theater. I have seen a couple of shows already. I have usually come with friends and this time it was with my husband. Their is a lot of history and help a lot in the community.

Proctor's is definitely growing by Leaps and Bounds. Theaters are big enough but not too big. They still have the main stage with its old charm and two new stages. It really is a beautiful theater old and young alike. It's nice to see the modern sleek lighting and the cozy warm feel in one place. The snack selection is limited but you're only there for a couple hours so you won't starve. Overall Proctor's is definitely one of the best places to go in downtown.

So many great shows! In a historic and beautiful theater! I have seen Broadway quality shows here and it is close to many incredible restaurants. Worth the trip from anywhere.

We have always been season ticket holders for the Proctors Broadway series of touring live Broadway shows. This historic venue also hosts live concerts on the main stage, concerts at the GE Theater, sponsored by the Eighth Step group (classic live folk stars), and big screen classic movies at the Addy theater, also at Proctors.

Second time I've seen melodies of Christmas with the family. This time was even better than the first. And part of what makes it so great is how beautiful Proctor's is. The tickets were reasonable and the experience was delightful- we will be back again for sure.

Proctor's is a great place to see a show. We have been coming here for years to see all kinds of shows. It is starting to show some wear and tear though, our seats were practically broken and I think the ones behind us were shot. And the ushers were quite rude and pushy. Every time an usher asked if we needed help, we would decline but they would try to insist on helping anyway. One woman grabbed my husband's ticket out of his hand and then dropped it. No big deal, it just makes for bad feelings.
That aside, we are very grateful to Proctors for bringing Bryan Ferry to the Capital District!

This is such a wonderful theater. And the people who assist you, are so very kind! FYI--if you are with an elderly person, the attendants will allow you to let them sit in chairs just in front of the entrance door so that they do not have to stand in the lines! Really beneficial. Also, if you go to the candy booth, you can borrow booster seats for kids--be prepared to leave you drivers license in exchange... Melodies of Christmas always puts us in the correct Holiday Spirit! And even if you get bored while waiting for your entertainment to begin....well you can take in all of the eye candy in the auditorium. The chandeliers and ornate decorations inside are just amazing! What a grand place!

Beautiful venue and a memorable, fantastic performance. One can see the entire performance from any seat in the theater. However, for Wicked which is very long, the seats became very uncomfortable. In fact, you cant cross your legs and I'm 5'4" tall. No leg room and very tight. That being said, it is an experience not to miss and a piece of history to enjoy.

We took our adult children and our grandchildren to see the Wizard of Oz at Proctors Theater! It was easy to find parking, and there are money dining options in the area. The Play was outstanding, and we all love the live performance of The Wizard of Oz! We can not wait to return to view other productions at this great Theater! Also the staff is supper friendly and helpful to get you to your seats and ready for the show. The concessions seem to have a nice choice of items and they serve alcohol in the lobby too! Need to see a Broadway show but do not wish to drive to NYC then drive to Proctors Theater in Schenectady, NY for a great Theater experience!

No need to go all the way to NYC for broadway magic - Proctors has it all! The line up gets better every year and we are proud to be supporters of this gem of a theater that evokes the glamour of theater in the big city!

My family and I saw The Lion King at Proctor's and absolutely loved it. Proctor's is such a wonderful theater for any kind of performance. There is not a bad seat in the house, however, we prefer to sit in the Balcony because the seats are cheaper and you can still see everything.

I recommend Proctors to everyone. Friends, family, or just an evening to yourself this is the place to go.

We weren't sure how this theatre would turn out but it was spectacular. The theatre, the show and everything about it was wonderful

Re-modelled theater with many plays during the season. !st run broadway productions and other events.

Went as a couple to the New Years eve party. Great place to attend Big band music for the older generation that evening.
Have been there many time for Broadway shows, music review. Beautiful Historic theater. Great place to go for any age group.

So beautiful with amazing details and ambience; just as incredible as nyc theaters right in our backyard!

Proctors is old and beautiful. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. We've seen many shows here and have always had a nice time, and good seat.

The show, (Wicked) was Wonderful! I was very distressed that 3 of the 5 bathroom stalls were broken upstairs .Due to this I couldn't use it during intermission and had to wait till the end of the show. Paying over $600 for tickets, you think the bathrooms would work properly!

Opening night at Proctors for Hamilton was wonderful. This is a magnificent setting for a large stage production. Everything worked. Acting, Staging, Costumes, Music, Lyrics and on and on. The Albany Times Union and Schenectady Gazette Reviews were far more eloquent than I can be. Please read them.

When I moved to Schenectady more than 40 years ago, Proctor's was undervalued. With much contractions and expansions in Schenectady's economic climate, Proctor's has become the gem. Wonderful programs, vibrant talent, and with GE Proctor's Theater, so many new and exciting events.

Wonderful production! Very talented cast. Best local theater around. As good as anything on Broadway. They try and get as many new shows as they can every season. Each season is better than the last.

breathtaking theater with world class entertainment - don't miss an opportunity to visit Proctor's - two theaters, tasty snack bar.

This is a great place to see a show! Live music or full scale broadway shows. The beauty of the theater in its self is well worth the visit.

I haven't been to Proctor's since I was in college - and its lost none of its charm. Never a bad seat in the house, excellent sound, and comfortable seats. The Book of Mormon was hilarious, and well worth the trip!

Great venue for a wonderful evening out. Great acoustics and wonderful atmosphere. Volunteers are helpful and snack bars and cocktail bars offer something for everyone.

My daughter, older sister & I went to see a performance of Cinderella in 2015 at Proctors and wow was it amazing. First of all, parking was unexpectedly convenient & then the walk from the lot to the theater was really lovely. The inside of the theater was beautiful--like a throwback to the times when theaters were really special. In addition there were many different vendors of goods & foods to browse or choose from. The inside of the theater was very ornate & so lovely. I highly recommend anyone who wants to enjoy a nice afternoon or evening at the theater to choose Proctors.

I have seen many Broadway run shows and concerts at Proctors and it is as wonderful an experience as I have had on Broadway NYC. I have also seen the Lion King at Proctors as well as on Broadway and Proctors was incredible! Proctors is an amazingly beautiful theater, not to mention the fantastic array of local cuisine and nightlife. Do yourself a favor and check out a show or concert a Proctors. Make an evening of it in Downtown Schenectady. You will NOT be disappointed.

We recently saw "An American In Paris" here. The show was great, but the one thing that was a bit annoying was the house, which should have opened at 7:30 PM, thirty minutes before curtain, only opened at about 7:45 PM. It's frustrating to have to stand in line in the lobby when there are seats such a short distance away.
We also witnessed something I don't believe I have ever seen before, at any theater, from audience members at this theater. As soon as the curtain came down, people started leaving in droves, without staying to acknowledge, with their applause, the talented actors and musicians that had just entertained them for close to three hours. Those patrons rushing to beat the traffic should be ashamed of themselves.
The theater is large, and probably not the best place to watch a show if you wind up with seats that are not up front, so be careful of that as well.

I have visited Proctor's on several occasions, for a variety of events, and always find myself in complete enjoyment with the experience. Seating line of view and acoustics are superb. They eve run old movies that one might never get a chance to see on the big screen. Plenty of parking, hotels and quaint eateries nearby.

We have been going to performances at Proctors Theater for over 30 years. The overall quality of the facility is superior - main stage, back stage, seating lobby, marquis, etc. The continuing improvements are able to attract the top performers and shows to this area. This has been the "spark plug" for the resurgence of downtown Schenectady.

We have been to Proctors Theater many, many times and seen wonderful Broadway shows such as The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, and Jersey Boys and many more, as well as Oldies concerts, Celtic Woman, Blue Man Group and others. There is also a smaller theater on the premises where we recently saw a wonderful comedian whose show was called, Men are from Mars, a women are from Venus. It was very good.
The Broadway shows and musical that come to Proctors are top notch shows. Usually many of the actors and actresses are the same who performed on Broadway in the show. We have seen Phantom of the Opera in NYC twice, in London, and at Proctors. In the opinion of my husband and me, the show at Proctors was the best.
The theater also shows movies and has lunchtime concerts where local musicians play Goldie the Organ. Terrific lunchtime entertainment.
Can't rate Proctors high enough. It is a beautiful theater built almost a hundred years ago. Try it, you'll like it!!!

It was an awesome show. I would go to see it again. I have been to the Proctor Theater on several occasions to see shows and love it.

Proctor's is a beautiful theater that attracts many off-broadway shows. I have seen many shows here over the years, both big and small productions. Recently, I saw Girl's Night with a friend. Great place for a show.

Went to see Melodies of Christmas - nothing puts you more in the holiday spirit and mood than this annual event. This theater has been totally renovated, whether you sit downstairs in the orchestra or upstairs in the balcony you will thoroughly enjoy any show you see there. Great venue !!!

Date night. First time at Proctors. Beautiful older venue. Sat a little too close this time, will adjust that for the next visit. Great show and venue overall.

Always amazed and delighted that this little corner of the world can attract talented performers and performances to the stage year after year. But really, one walks inside this stunning piece of architectural and artistic history and can readily imagine the well-behaved audience of a century past displaying their best evening dresses, suits, and tophats ready to absorb the finest entertainment of their time. How lucky we are that Proctor's still breathes an active life and remains a beautiful and timeless reminder of the craftsmanship of so many varied artists whether they be on stage, in the pit, behind the scenes, or those who left behind their artwork on the ceiling, walls, and woodwork that adorns this venue. Go. You won't be disappointed.

This is a truly classic theatre. Shows rival N.Y.C. !!! In the heart of a revived downtown with numerous restaurants in the immediate area

Went there to watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The live actors that performed along with the movie were fun to watch. The VIP seating t appeared to be less comfortable then the regular seats though.
The interior of the theatre was very nice.

Proctor is a wonderful place to see a show. Many of the Broadway shows come to Proctors. The prices are good and there are many different options. GE theater has local bands, comedy show and dinner shows.

Beautiful old theater with great look and old time feel. Every time I have been at Proctors it's been a quality show and friendly service.

proctors is a gorgeously impressive theatre and offers quality entertainment. I have seen broadway shows, music groups, and plays there. The sound system is extraordinary. Why go to NY when you can go to Proctors. Beautiful is coming in April and is supposed to be wonderful. I can't wait to see it!

Of course this is a beautiful theater and I have been coming most of my life. It seems that the seats and rows are shrinking though not much leg room. This is a great place to watch a show and we are very lucky to have this so close to our home. Parking is pretty good if you use the garage it's free .

I recently saw the sound of music which was excellent. My constant problem with Proctors is they charge the same amount or more as a show I would see in NYC and Schenectady is not NYC. They have the most uncomfortable seating and no matter where you sit if you are short you won't be able to see. The rise in the floor is not enough of an elevation for good viewing. I would rather go to CapitalRep anyday.

This is a beautiful theater that has many different show offerings - Broadway shows, plays, movies, etc. Many high school & college graduations are held here. There are many wonderful restorations that have been done over the years.

This season's shows at Proctor's are absolutely the BEST ever! The season tickets are definitely well worth the money. Being a fan of Broadway and any theater really, I didn't expect the quality of the performances to be as great as they have been this year. Every show tops the ones before. If you love theater, get season tickets and enjoy them all!

Proctors was originally a vaudeville theater built in the 20's I think. It recently underwent a huge restoration. It is a great little theater where you can see movies to concerts to Broadway shows and musicals. The theater has been wonderfully preserved. The restoration really increased the beauty of the theater. Sound reproduction can be a little tough in some spots, but for an overall nice theater experience, you can't beat it. Parking is across the street in a nice garage, and is free in the for the shows.

Beautiful theatre with friendly staff. Things are so well done here. They recently updated the seating and that was nice as well! Such a gem!

Enjoyed movies, plays and atmosphere. We enjoyed The Four Seasons play. Great seats and atmosphere. It was a great night and I enjoyed the performance.

I will be first to say that I remember this theater from the 70s, when it still had a hint of grandeur left, but had devolved into a badly tattered condition then. I was saddened to see it in that condition, as I had recalled a much more vibrant Schenectady in my youth. With the pullback and urban problems during the 60s through the 80s, other grand theaters, stores and institutions in the City had succumbed to the wrecking ball in the name of urban renewal. One of the most visible of these failures was the demise of our beautiful Union train station to be replaced by a soulless, trailer-looking box of a structure. For a time, it looked like Proctors would suffer the same fate. But then, along came Hal Holbrook, who saw the bones of the structure, and instantly recognized that this City had something very special, and knew it was at risk of disappearing. During one of his performance runs at Proctors, Hal went public on the news and basically called out the rich and well heeled of the town (cough cough GE cough cough) - saying he could not understand how such an incredible and irreplaceable gem could be left to ruin through neglect. That was over 30 years ago.
Fast forward to this Summer, when the last of (I believe) seven levels or phases of restoration have been completed, tens of millions spent on restoration and expansion, including a backstage area that can support full Broadway productions, plus a theater that is restored to its original 1926 grandeur. Now, when you enter Proctors for a musical, symphonic performance or a host of other performances, you feel in awe of the sheer beauty of this place, and proud to be a part of something that could not be created today for any amount of money. The artisan-ship of Proctors is something to see, and being there for a performance of any kind is a special treat. I feel so fortunate to be able to walk from my door to Proctors, but even if I moved two hours away, I would still choose to find my way back here, just for the experience. It is that special a place. If you have not been here before, please find a reason to come and see for yourself. You will be proud of Proctors as well. It is truly one of a kind.

We attended the Jacques and Claudine Pepin Master Chef lecture this April at Proctor's Theater. We had a very fun night, and thought the theater was beautiful. We have a historical theater in our home town, but it is nothing like Proctor's. The seating was comfortable, and we could see and hear everything without any issues.
I would definitely return to this venue in the future, and would recommend this theater as well.

I booked 2 tickets for Dirty Dancing for my wife and i to see. We had a nice night out. What i really appreciated is that i could also get coffee in place of a cocktail, being that we had to drive a distance to get there. Nice setting, old theater!

Excellent choice for graduation event for very large attendance for BOCE nurses. Will definitely go back and highly recommend to others

Just like going to Broadway! Every show and cast we have seen were outstanding. Love being a season ticket holder with my seat and all the great shows.

Proctor's rivals any venue in the city in terms of the quality of shows..and the appearance is amazing..It's an old time theater that was renovated without losing it's charm..Without Proctor's downtown Schenectady would have died

I actually did not get to go to the show I wanted. I grew up in Schenectady and love that Proctors has been renovated and successful. I tried to get tickets as soon as I saw the posting for Beetlejuice. I was shocked at the prices! They advertise affordable seats, but impossible to get them. It seems as though the venue is catering to the wealthy.

Went to Proctors to see "Frozen" and what a fantastic show. Lighting, props, costumes and sounds were all fantastic. Proctors always has some great shows and everyone there is always so helpful. All parts of the facility is very well done. Really enjoy attending productions there

Beautiful venue, sound was great (Gov't Mule show) and staff very friendly and efficient. They really need to do a better job at managing the aisles. I get it that people will stand for the whole show, that is why I hot aisle seats. There was no aisle managment so the aisle quickly filled with camper from the back rows. not only is this a fire / evacuation concern, but it blocked our view for most of the show. Probably won't return unless I get a front row balcony seat.

I should preface this review by stating that I am a resident of Schenectady and have been for over 30 years. In that time I have seen Proctor's go from being on the verge of demolition to becoming one of the most prominent entertainment venues in the Capitol District. Restored to its original grandeur, the visit alone, without a show, is well worth the time. The attendant entertainment areas as equally awesome, with the Eighth Step Coffeehouse chef among them.

The theater has been lovingly restored, as has the atrium. The GE Theater is an awesome, smaller venue. The snack bar is also very nice. Many people deserve credit for bringing this theater back from the brink. Very highly recommended!

Proctor's Theater is absolutely lovely. The inside of the theater takes one back in time to a bygone era of majestic theaters. There is not a bad seat in the house, although I prefer the center orchestra area. The seats were updated a few years ago, and they are more comfortable than the old seats. Yet they are made for people with a smaller body type. We have attended many plays and performances at Proctor's over the years and the acoustics are very good in the theater. It is one of our favorite theaters.

I have been there many times for Broadway shows, movies, entertainment. If you are in the area you should check it out. The arcade is always open, but they dont always have plays or movies. You will fall in love with Proctors

We saw Frozen. It was amazing! My 5 year old was enthralled even though the show started after her bed time! The theater is beautiful, clean, well organized and has an amazing array of entertainment. I have never been disappointed with a Proctor’s show! Highly recommend.

Fantastic venue easily located from the highway or train surrounded by great restaurants and nightlife

You will never be disappointed when visiting Proctor's Theater, what an experience, they always put great quality of shows for everyone's enjoyment.

When I moved upstate 27 years ago, one of the most thrilling finds was discovering Proctor's. I had been been paying top dollar for shows in NYC and I found shows at Proctor's that were just as spectacular at a much lower cost than in the city AND I could afford to bring my family. The theater itself is beautiful and almost every time I go to see someone perform, they make reference to how beautiful the theater is and how much they enjoy performing there. I don't think the performers say that at every venue. There seems to be a certain magic at Proctor's when a performance begins . My only objection to seeing a show here, and I wish the management would hear the comments of so many who agree with me, is the selling of snacks and drinks during the shows. There is nothing worse than being in the middle of a phenomenal performance only to hear papers being unwrapped, water bottles opening and people slurping their drinks. I know this brings extra money in but I wonder how many people stay away from certain shows because of the distraction of people snacking. I feel this is a poor decision on the part of management. I enjoyed it much more before food was sold. That having been said, This is a lovely theater and a chance to go back in time when great pride was taken in a town's performing arts center. The selection of shows is varied and usually appeals to a diverse audience. If you live here and haven't gone, get there as fast as your feet can carry you and if you are from out of town, definitely add this to your list of things to do!!!!!!!

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Beautifully restored theater that has been resurrected. Great musicals, as good as Broadway right in Schenectady. People travel miles to see the plays, bands , concerts etc, etc. it is our gem!!

Went to see Colin and Brad do their improve show last night. AMAZING! Proctors Theater is not only beautiful, it has an exceptional sound and lighting system (or staff.) The place is a gem and we are lucky to have it so close to home. The shows are always worth seeing. The venue is perfect.

We attended the show TWAS A GIRLS NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS during the holidays and was extremely disappointed in the type of performance that was given. The theater should be ashamed to support such a show. There were children in attendance and the language and suggestions were disgusting. Not what I would call a holiday program And certainly a waste of money. I'm not sure I would attend or recommend shows at this theater again if they cannot choose appropriate shows

I saw Love Me Tender in this theater when I was a teenager. So glad it has been renovated many times over the years. I have seen many different performances. I have to say the audience made the difference with Kinky Boots. They were so responsive to the show. I had seen it on Broadway and enjoyed it much more at Proctors. We were in the balcony unfortunately. The tickets sold out quickly. Would definitely go again.

Beautiful old theater, seating a bit small depending on location can mean limited leg room. Can be a wait for ladies room during intermission with limited bathroom facilities in the theater.

Fantastic comedians..great food after the performers..I would rate a 10+, However, not so much for the Joey Thomas Big Band..not one Earth, Wind and Fire song, as billed..Most of the younger people left and those who were somewhat older stayed. Next year try a different band..there are so many out there..but the rest was top shelf!

Excellent theater for shows. Greatly recommend. Easy access a lot available close by. That's all I have to share.

Proctor's is the place not only for Broadway shows, but true folk culture in the Eighth Step GE Theater offerings. I love this place.

An exciting theatre for so much, from Broadway plays to local event space. Just beautiful architecture and lots of things to do

Over the course of my years living in the area, Proctors is an amazing venue for concerts, comedians, Broadway musicals, plays, dance groups etc. The theater is beautiful; the staff is helpful. There are many places to eat in Schenectady right near the theater on State street within walking distance- however, make a reservation if you are smart...they get crowded fast.
I would highly recommend attending any performance and will be a lifetime patron.

Went to the Proctor to see Saturday Night Fever. It was my first time there and I truly enjoyed it. There are shops and restaurants all in walking distance so you ca really make a day of it. The theater itself is beautiful and the chairs are comfortable. It's small enough that where ever you sit you'd have a good view. I had so much fun I bought tickets to see Foreigner and the Doobie Bros in April!

Our family attends a large number of musicals every year and enjoy visiting different theaters in the Northeast. Proctor’s is nice. This restored historical theater is interesting and the layout of the surrounding shops was convenient. There is food and drink available in multiple places on-site and they also had a vendor selling show merchandise.
The staff was pleasant and helpful.
There are also multiple restaurants within walking distance of the theater.
We would absolutely return.

Proctors is a local institution. There is not a bad seat in the house, and the events are top notch!

I frequent this venue quite often. It is beautiful and the staff is very friendly .. always helping you find your seat, or directing the crowds in an efficient manner. I finally got tickets for Melodies of Christmas this year! I also bought tickets for The Lion King. The seats appear to be a little tight for some people. I sat next to a gentleman who was about 300 lbs. and he was literally stuffed in to the seat. Sometimes looking over the heads of others in front of me is very annoying if someone quite tall sits in front of me, but that doesn't take away from my five star rating. This is a top-notch theater with off-Broadway type shows. Also, there are small shops in the entrance to the theater. I have purchased many unique items in these shops.

I have been to Proctors many times over the years and it never fails to impress me. The old style charm of the decor is great. The volunteer staff is always super helpful and there is not a bad seat in the theater. Most recently I have seen a concert and a play in the last month and as usual the experience was as I expected, top notch. If you are considering seeing a show here and have never been, I highly recommend it.

The shows, the seats, the sound, the theatre are all fabulous. The theatre is better maintained and more accessible than anything you will find in NYC and the shows are the same ones you will find in the city. What a treasure we have in Schenectady.

We went to see the Sound of Music at Proctors and I can easily tell you the musical was incredible but the theatre it self was something spectacular. Sometimes you just get distracted looking at the theatre and it definitely is worth another trip and it definitely feels like Broadway!

We all had a wonderful night at Proctor's seeing Wicked. I love the Theater and there really isn't a bad seat in the house! The show was wonderful.

Proctor's Theater has a Broadway series that offers Broadway shows at substantial savings, and with free parking across the street. The are several good restaurants in the immediate area. My favorite is Zen, a Thai restaurant across the street from the theater, with great food & prices, and excellent service. I've stayed several times at the English Garden B&B, which is lovely, and the owner serves an outrageously good breakfast in a beautiful setting.

If you want to go back in time and visit a truly historic theater that will take you back in time...then go see a play at Proctors! We went to see Motown the Musical, which was great...but seeing the ornate theater was worth the price of admission. Proctors has been refurbished over the past decade and now is a venue that hosts full scale Broadway plays. If you are in the Albany, Schenectady area and you want to get a small taste of Broadway...then go see a play.

Over the years I've attended many shows at Proctors, watching it evolve as an entertainment venue. Now it is at the top of its game. The excitement of going to a show at Proctors, whether a local program, an organ recital or Broadway touring show is amazing. The acoustics in this old vaudeville theatre, beautifully restored, are fantastic.
Recently seeing "Hamilton" there was one of the most memorable theatre experiences I've had since in this theatre they were able to duplicate all that Broadway could offer. So wonderful having this theatrical institution in our backyard!

I love Proctors. It is like having Broadway down the street from me. I feel lucky to live close enough to go regularly. Phillip Morris has done a great job with renovations and getting great shows. I just saw An American in Paris and the production was superb. We are members and joined at the level of being able to use the Guild Room. It's not amazing benefits, but it's nice to have a place to get a glass of wine or tea or water during intermission. I appreciate the private bathrooms that are available to members. If you are just visiting or live here, you are missing a prize jewel if you don't get there. The theater is beautiful and the performances are worth the price. I highly recommend going.

We went here to see Alton Brown's 'Eat your Science' tour. This is a spectacular old theater. It is gorgeous. The employees were great too. Every thing was perfect for the show. Only issue is when I left there could really be some help clearing the traffic at some of the intersections. The streets there are not mean to handle a large amount of cars trying to get out at the same time.

Went to see The Book Of Mormons. The play was top notch but while our seats were in a good location the seats were really small & very close together. At one point I found myself with my arms pinned at my side to avoid being invasive to the person seated next to me. Once intermission started I ran from my seat to give my knees a rest from their cramped position. Also, the bathroom situation is deplorable. The line for the ladies room was 40 people long. Proctor's really has to start putting money in the comfort of their patrons. The place is beautiful & run like a fine machine, but they really need to think of their clientele with more concern for comfort. I will think twice before I shell out $100 for a ticket to be cramped in a space only a small child could fit in comfortably.

Proctor's brings us the best of the best plays and other entertainment. The theater is beautiful, the seating is comfortable, the prices are reasonable and affordable. The shows are amazing. I've seen so many of them over the years--Annie, Pippin, Cats' Beauty and the Beast-- so many. I can't believe you'd see any better on Broadway,

The musicals I've seen there have all been superb - "Lion King", "Phantom of the Opera", "Evita", "Avenue Q", "Book of Mormon" to name a few. In addition to the main theater there is a large screen movie theater (the GE Theater). The cafe has really tasty snacks and coffee as well as beer & wine.

Schenectady's crown jewel is at the center of the incredible rebound in our downtown. Heard Tony Bennet once heap praise on the place!

Always an excellent experience at Proctors !!
Off Broadway that overly excells all expectations right here in our own backyard!!!

My granddaughter was in a recital there. It is a beautiful theater. Much like the theaters in NYC. Love going there.

I have been to this theatre so many times, for Broadway shows to graduation ceremonies, to comedy shows. Which is what my son and I went to for New Year's Eve. My son was 16 at this time, and we wanted to do something a little different for New Years, so we saw the comedy show from 8pm to 10 pm. So so funny ! There were several different comedians and each were funny. We had a great time, laughed so hard and just overall enjoyed ourselves. I wouldn't recommend it for kids under 15-17. Only due to the fact you never know what the comedian might say , my sons she was just right. This theatre is such an old glamorous beauty, I love just being in there every time I go I still sit and look all over .

My wife and I... sometimes with friends... sometimes with our adult children... we have watched many shows here. The theater itself is stunning and takes you back in time. We always enjoy grabbing a bite at any of the many eateries before a show, and even walking around the town afterwards. Been there many times and the last show was in October.

Couldn't think of better place to host future cities with the historic character of Proctors set in Schnectady that is in major city redevelopment. As many times as we've been here for plays it was first opportunity to go upstairs where actors rooms are and the kids performed their presentations. Truly is the heart of this area. Parking always a pain even with the garage and simple renovation outdoors of common areas would make such a huge difference but once inside Proctors you think your in a time capsule of the finest in history, art and theatre.

I'm not a big fan of plays or musicals. On this last occasion we enjoyed An American In Paris set in post WW-II, timewise. The production was amazingly great in terms of staging, characters, music, songs and the like. Our visit was one of the last shows before the company moved on to London. It seems they used the US tour to perfect their presentation. Since you are outta-luck to see this same show, let me talk a bit about the Proctors Theater.
Proctors is a gem in the crown for downtown Schenectady. It is a historic landmark. It is beautiful inside with its ornate ambience from a bygone era. Treat yourself to a visit to Proctors for anything just to enjoy the theatre. Evening parking is normally free at the adjacent multi-level parking garage. Other paid parking is also sometimes available.

Whether you are seeing a Broadway show, comedian, dancer, or any artist Proctors is the best venue. Restaurants in walking distance, free parking, and new renovations. Come see for yourself.

We took our granddaughter to see Alvin and the Chipmunks on Veteran's Day at Proctors and we totally enjoyed the performance. Proctors is a beautiful venue and was the perfect setting for this event. This show employed traditional props and some high tech visuals that created the backdrops of many cities on the USA. It was truly fascinating. This is a must see show for any child at any age. It was clean fun with much audience participation. The children sang and danced for almost an hour and a good time was had by all.

this had to be one of the most amazing memorable theatre experiences of my life! i can not recommend this HIGHLY ENOUGH! there are no words to describe the brilliance of this show!

This removated historical theatre is host to local events as well as Broadway shows and celebrities from film, music and TV.

This theatre is a treasure, they offer a variety of shows, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

I’ve been to Proctors many times. It is a great theater. The architecture is gorgeous and they get a lot of great shows.
I wish there were more concession booths and more bathroom stalls so the lines would be less long, but that may not be possible due to the close space of a historic building.

I purchased tickets to see the Illusionist's after my Husband saw the TV commercial. We had center seats about halfway back and the view was fine. Spent less than $300 for the tickets. Easy to print at home and avoid waiting in two lines. The line to enter the theater was fast moving and ushers directed you to the correct aisles/rows/seats. The seats aren't terrible, I've sat in much worse. Parking is plentiful with numerous garages and outside lots. I choose an outside lot for $5 instead of the free parking garage. It seems like an easier exit than waiting to get out of the garage. Quick two minute walk to Proctor's; lighted sidewalks, plenty of cafes and such for before the show, crossing guards and police presence make it a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
Available: coat check, refreshments, souvenirs

If you've never been to this one it's a must! They have so many vendors from all over the area/state. We found the best pesto ever and fantastic cheese. There are too many good ones to list.

We met a group of friends at Proctors Theater last night to see Saturday Night Fever. It was terrible. Singing, dancing, props, pretty much everything was bad. This is the second out-of-tune mess we have attended in the last couple of months. What is going on there? I am not going to keep spending money on bad productions. Hopefully the Casino will have some better shows...

A remarkably beautiful theater with classic architecture and design. The chandelier light hanging from the gold leaf ceiling is amazing. We've attended many performances and plays here. The most recent visit was for the Neil deGrasse Tyson presentation. We had seats in the balcony. It looked like every seat in the theater was taken! Proctor's is on the National Register of Historic Places. A beautiful gem in Schenectady.

Beautiful theater, High quality performances. We have introduced our granddaughter to live theater thru Proctors.

This past Thursday we enjoyed our first visit to Proctor's to see Shucked. We love theater, and travel all over to see shows that we enjoy. This theater is about 2 1/2 hours from our home, so we stayed overnight in a nearby hotel.
The theater is beautiful...in the same era as Landmark Theater in Syracuse where we are season ticket holders (both around 1926). The staff was wonderful. We sat in row AA and CC...but hubby was able to move up to AA after intermission, as the 4 people next to me did not show up.
We will definitely be back to enjoy some great Broadway touring!!!

We have been to Proctor's many times over the years and we have always enjoyed our visits. Our most recent trip was with our grandchildren to see the "Lion King" which was outstanding. The play, the venue, all contributed to a wonderful evening.

You do not have to travel to NYC, or any other big city to enjoy quality shows. Proctors offers the best in a quality house. If you have never been here, you are missing a great night out.

Went to Proctors for the Weird Al Yankovic show - seen him before a great show he has so much energy - never stops changes outfits and so does his band - a video going all during the show - the best entertainment show - well worth seeing - the seats are very close and not much leg room - with all the upgrades they should re-do the seats - parking across the street in the parking garage - crossing guards very friendly.
Excellent Broadway productions in Schenectady. All shows I have seen here have been amazing. The theatre is beautiful and easily accessible.
