Ordinary Park

By Akhilesh Solanki |

This is very ordinary park, nothing to visit as such and not a tourism place. There is no point in visiting for the tourists. Could be good for local joggers. There is one train which takes you around the part but nothing special as such

An Amazing Park

By Robert P |

What a beautiful park! Pullen Park, dedicated in 1887, was the first public park in North Carolina. It is the fifth oldest operating amusement park in the United States and the sixteenth 16th oldest in the world. It consists of nearly 65 acres with a community center, the Gustave A. Dentzel Carousel, kiddie boats, a one-third size, near-replica of the C.P. Huntington train, peddle boats, aquatic center, arts center, cafes, shelters, and much more. The people of Raleigh should be justly proud of this urban jewel. It was cold and raining when we were there but there were still quite a few visitors at the park. I imagine it will be packed on warm days. Despite the weather we enjoyed strolling along the paths.

Perfect for a clear spring break day

By Bronwen J |

Not huge, but great playground, train was only $1 each, and it was very very pretty. Well maintained and the tulips and daffodils were gorgeous

Lots to do for the kids!

By travelgman |

It has been many years since I visited Pullen Park, and what a change! Lots of amenities in addition to a great carousel, train and paddle boats...my grandkids loved it!

Pullen Park, Great place for families

By jescobedo7 |

Have been to Pullen Park many times. My children and grandchildren love the train. We have had many family outings there and have always been able to find a table and a grill. Love Pullen Park and will be going back again many more times.

Beautiful city based park.

By David Meth |

We spent a few hours here on a nice March late morning. Some of the trees were blooming. A very well kept and peaceful place to walk. Bathrooms were clean and refreshments were available

great pulled pork with sauces to allow you to choose your spice level

By William B |

Their basic chopped pork is delicious as it comes, if you like spicier the sauce is on the table.. The service was very fast.

Beautiful stop

By dooskie |

Beautiful little park - lovely to walk around and even rode the miniature train with our teens to get a nice tour. (Did an excellent job of making us feel Covid safe on the train). Nice stop on a nice day.

A gem in the city for kids!

By kurokitty |

Came by with my 3-year-old and had no idea this would be such a great place for kids! She loved the train and seeing the large playground but most of all having space to run around near the Andy Griffith statue.

It was nice they also had a stand where we could get some snacks and drinks to get ready for the next round of fun!

A great place to go with kids

By Pedro S |

It's a nice place to go with kids. The little train is the main attraction and the pedal boats are great. You have to wait in line for some time but totally worth it. The park is free, you only pay tickets for the attractions.

Needed to rest

By DDinNC |

We recently needed a quiet place in Raleigh to catch our breath while dealing with our pet being checked at NC State Vet School campus. We asked at a restaurant on Wake Forest Road, "is there an area lake nearby?" The unanimous choice among the employees...Pullen Park. Easy to find I later realized that we entered the park at a "side" entrance. Had we entered the main entrance we would have found a beautiful lake, paddle boats and much more. But, our spot worked out perfectly for us. All we wanted was a nicely shaded area to rest and relax for a while. It's an active place with lots of people coming and going. Near NC State campus.

Spacious park with great photo spots

By Susan L |

We visited recently and had a very nice experience. We were traveling with my 90+ year old mother, and she had a wonderful time sitting and watching all the children skipping into the park. Sadly, the train was not running, so there were some disappointed kids. But there are a number of great spots for photography - I can see why this is a popular senior portrait spot. Nice way to spend a fall afternoon.

Nice park for All ages

By VChapman11 |

Pullen Park has something for everyone. The have a separate playground for older children and then one for toddlers. This makes it nice so the smaller children have their own space. The sand area is set up the same way, one for older children one for toddlers. They also have paddle boats, kiddie water boatt rides, train ride and carousel.
They also have a nice cafe with fresh and seasonal food. Everything is from NC. They place was super crowded as the weather was really nice but the park was clean and you could see staff members walking around.

One of my all time favorite parks

By Carrie v |

This is one of my family’s favorite parks! The carousel, the train, the paddle boats, the paths, the playground, the food - what is there not to like? This is a gem in the middle of Raleigh. Need a place to take visiting family and friends with kids? Grandparents in town? Want a great place for a picnic? This is the ticket! Fun for all ages.

Great family outing!

By SueHJ |

This popular park is a wonderful place to spend a few hours with the kids or grandkids. Not only does it have trails and climbing equipment for tykes and older kids, it also has a train, carousel, pedal boats, and boat ride for small children. Rides are reasonably priced, and snacks can be purchased. Best to come early to find parking.

love Pullen Park

By Nccrreporter |

I have been going to Pullen since my girls were little. Even now that they’re teenagers, they still like to go there. Love the tennis courts.

Good place to spend a few hours with the kids

By coinsbytom |

Our grandkids really like the Merry-go-round, boats and train. I suggest that you bring your own food and have a picnic. Restrooms are normally clean. A safe park, but as always, stay with your kids.

wonderful park

By jaxdancers |

In town and stopped to see based on reviews and was glad we did. Beautiful park to walk and see and enjoyed seeing the train, carousel, Andy Griffith/Opie statue and beautiful gardens. Well worth the stop. Spent a couple hours slow walking the grounds.

Great for the entire family!

By Sct_12 |

One of the great parks in the city of Raleigh! Entry is free but there are several activities for pay like the Carousel, the train, the paddle boats, etc. Great place to bring the family and spend the day if you want but realize on the weekends it is especially crowded.

Great Place for Kids!

By Chichiro01 |

This is a great place to take young kids! From the playground, to the train, and the Merry-Go-Round, there is something to keep everyone's attention!

A must for newbies to Raleigh

By Lyn H |

Pullen Park is an icon. There is so much to do with the kiddos. They revamped it a few years ago and it is a beautiful park. From the paddle boats, to the outstanding playground equipment, to the carousel to the beauty of the park. Its a great place to spend the day. Also, the food at the snack bar is actually really good and has healthy options. I highly recommend taking the family to this Raleigh landmark.

A Fun Place to Visit

By propilot6682 |

A super place for a getaway near downtown Raleigh. Pullen Park is free and filled with lots of things to do and see even though it is not large. The 1911 carousel and train trip around the park is a must. Tickets are $1.50 each(cash or credit). Children must be 42" to ride the carousel alone or they must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. They also have paddle boats for use on their lake (4 tickets). The park is clean and has several nice restrooms. Numerous pavilions and grills are located in the park and are perfect for a picnic. Will keep this place on my list to return to next time I visit Raleigh. Check the website for opening times since they change depending on the month.

Fun for all

By mindyg1979 |

Have been coming here for 20+ years. Since they have redone the park it is better than ever. The ride are great for the younger ones and ticket prices are low enough to make it an affordable day out for the family. Parking can be hard on really busy days.

Pullen Park

By wilmbchluvernc |

Great greenspace.... excellent for family outings... well manicured.... an absolutely wonderful place for children --- riding the train, riding the historic carousel, all the swings, picnicing, paddle boating on the little lake, food is available.... first time I had been there in decades & enjoyed being out in the sunshine & fresh air

Still Fun on a Holiday When Closed

By Ginny B |

A very spacious, well kept park that has lots to do for all ages. We went on a holiday so the park was closed, but still had a great time walking around and playing the playground.
We will come back when the rides are open and spend more time. Plenty of parking and a great place for families.

Great place for kids

By Wendy Whittenton |

We enjoy visiting Pullen Park with my now, 5 y.o. We’ve been going since he was 2. There’s plenty for the young children to do and see as well as the older children! Beautiful place to visit!

Marvelous Carousel

By Bertram S |

We came here to ride the Dentzel carousel. This carousel is beautiful – the animals, carved by Salvatore Cernigliaro in 1900 (some say 1912), have many ornate in creative designs carved into them. Several animals are in prancing position, with two feet up in the air. This is a sign that they may have been carved around 1890. My personal favorite animals were the cats – two have the usual fish in their mouths, but two more have birds in their mouths instead. Each animal has been carefully restored and painted exactly as it was in 1912. The chariots were unique – 3 seats instead of 2. The price was great too - $1 a ride. We took only a few moments to glance at the rest of the park – it looked very nice. We appreciated the gift shop where we were able to buy an ornament – it’s nice to have a souvenir from this carousel.

Best for families

By GustavoSantos |

Great place for families. Has pedal boats, train, playground and carousel. Dogs leashes are allowed too.

Relaxing

By Ellie Wilk |

This is a perfect place to come and relax. It’s not that big, but the waterfall is relaxing. Very nice to check out!

My favorite park

By Lauren Bailey |

Pullen Park is one of my favorite places in my local town. I really love coming here, whether I am alone of together with others. The park gives me a clear peace of mind. The views of the lake are very nice, specially during summer months.

A Raleigh tradition

By David P |

This is a beautiful park, right next to NC State. Lots of walking trails, a small train, and don't forget the gorgeous carousel.

Gem in the city.

By Z9163IOalanh |

A terrific place that has had recent renovations. Parking is improved. A great place to take little ones. Be sure to have time for the carousel and the train. An aquatic center is nearby, too!

Nice place to take the kids for the afternoon

By Joanna B |

Great local park to rent shelters, have cookouts / parties. Kids always love the beautiful carousel and the train rides.

Family time

By Lechemi816 |

The park is amazingly clean and peaceful. The carousel and train ride were smooth and enjoyable. The staff was very perlite.

Fun times

By DScharett |

Great outlet to relax with little ones and unwind. They enjoy the safety of the playground. With the inexpensive rides boats, train, and carousel being a bonus. Always a good time and great memories with the little ones.

Too beautiful

By Agustin C |

It is nice to walk and walk here. It has a nostalgic atmosphere. Generally the price is affordable. Too beautiful for a park.

A City Gem for Generations

By wbmama |

As a child I enjoyed the wonders of Pullen Park. As a college student, the green space was a respite. As a grandparent, Pullen Park allowed me to relive happy times on the train, the play area and on the unique carousel. There are separate areas in the play spaces for little ones and older children. There are climbing areas, swings, sand/water play and even a train caboose to walk through.
Raleigh has done a terrific job of restoring and keeping our park updated, thank you!

Perfect Pullen Park

By Sharen G |

This park is so beautiful and an amazing place to take the whole family. It is great that both parking and entrance is free and tickets for the train and carousel are less than $2 per ticket (age 1 and below ride for free)...

We love taking our girls here, there are different playgrounds depending on age but all are so fun!!! If your children love playing in the sand, then definitely take some sand toys because they have a wonderful sand area for them to play in.

It's also a nice place to takea stroll or have a picnic. There are plenty of benches, picnic tables, and grassy areas for the whole family to enjoy!

**Tip: when buying tickets, we buy enough for two trips there, because the lines could get rather long especially on the weekends**

Great Way to Spend a Morning

By Kirsty |

Beautiful grounds, and lovely walk/play areas. Free to explore, but tickets need to be purchased ($2 p/p) from the ticket office at entrance (though I would recommend using RecLink). <1yr olds ride free with an adult.

Took our 8month old on the peddle boats and carousel, and walked around the park seeing many cardinals and squirrels on our way.

Toilets have change facilities for those with babies.

Make sure the train is operating ahead of time, as we arrived late morning on a Wednesday and unfortunately it was not running until the weekend.

Nice park

By Adrianna M |

We visited Pullen Park to kill some time before another activity. It is a very nice park. We had a good walk, just checking it all out. We were there early, before train, paddle boats, and carousel were open. There is also a playground. Looks like a fun place.

Nice day out for kids.

By JANal50 |

Nice park in the city.
Take a paddle boat ride on small lake, train ride for kids also.
Small park for picnic maybe

Very pretty place to spend a day

By Hazel M |

My friend and I spent a nice day walking around Pullen Park. It's very pretty and we took some nice photos. Lots of young families which was nice.

It's been a long time since we were back, but it is an excellent park.

By Clair C |

We rode the train around its track and it was fun to ride it. The park was excellent to visit bu itself.

We road the train around the park on its travels. The park itself is an excellent park to visit and walk around.

Unique Park

By PVH1954 |

This is a beautiful park, with an unusual area for kids entertainment (and adults) and a historic carousel. Great areas for picnics and walking.

Lovely park for a picnic or stroll

By tunitravels |

Great for a picnic and stroll through the park! They have a carousel and cute train. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and then walked the small park.

I visit all the time

By 398ethanl |

This is one of the best hidden secrets of Raleigh. There are so many things to do including just sitting, relaxing and enjoying being outdoors. Thank you Pullen Park for always getting better too!

Just the best for the kids.

By John L |

We live a few hours from Raleigh but this park is a wonderful way for the whole family to get out without spending too much $. Amazing park.

Beautiful place to go for a quiet afternoon.

By SHARON S |

We took our dog and strolled the park. It was a relaxing afternoon. It is beautifully landscaped and there are plenty of things for children to do. The paddle boats looked fun, as did the train.

A slice of my childhood 40 years later

By Victoria B |

Oh Pullen Park! This place is a slice of my childhood! I can still remember the smell of the carousel with it's shavings on the floor when it was outside and I have pictures of myself as a tiny tot riding the boats and playing on the playground. What a treat that it's still here and my own children (40 years later) can enjoy it! We did just that this past July (and in May of 2024 for a birthday party at the Fountain Terrace, just past the carousel). On the July day, there was something wrong with the scanners, so we either rode the train and/or the boats free of charge. Yay! Horray! Thanks staff for allowing us to do that instead of shutting them both down! My kids were pumped!

Fun rides for the kids

By NaNee68 |

This is a fun inexpensive park for taking young children. There are several rides the children enjoy, especially the train. Tickets are cheap.
The food is not particularly good. I would suggest you take a picnic lunch when you go.

Perfect for children

By Clement L |

Magnificent park located at the gates of the city.
Easy parking if you arrive early.
Entrance is free and only the attractions require a fee, but there is a play park for children.

Beautiful Family Park

By k8rpot8r |

I have been to Pullen several times, once with my nephew, and for hosting a carnival back in 2015. It has truly grown into a beautiful family park. They have different playgrounds for different aged children. If they want to go on a few rides, they have the train which travels around the entirety of the Park. They also have a carousel that they have restored to its glorious beauty and when it’s warm they have paddle boats. If you get hungry just stop at one of their few small food stands. It is just a beautiful park and I look forward to talking my children one day! Bravo, Pullen!

Fun for the whole family.

By Michael R |

We brought our two grandchildren with Mom and Dad and we all had fun watching them climb on the various kid friendly attractions as well as riding the train. Lunch was good and there was plenty for all to choose from.

Beautiful

By anjpanj55 |

Gorgeous park! We went in the evening time and the train and everything was shut down, but it was a beautiful time to be in the park at sunset. My son rollerbladed all over the place and we enjoyed the peaceful walk.

Morning outing

By penny142016 |

This is a very nice park. We enjoyed the train ride, and the walk around the pond. It is a nice park with lots of things to see and do.

Raleigh landmark

By akls96 |

Beautiful park near downtown Raleigh and NC State University. You can take a train ride through the park, play on the playground, or rent boats at the lake.

Great place for the kids

By Gary M |

This is a great place for the kids to play, they offer a variety of things to do, they have paddle boats you can rent, the kids can ride the train, they can ride the little boats that go around in circles (mostly for the smaller kids), they have a train carriage that you can go inside, and see what they are like. They offer food, they have a merri-go-round also. Nice little walk around the park too, they have swings, and a slide, and other playground stuff for the kids to climb on and play in.

Highly recommended for small kids under 12.

Something for the entire family.

By cooleemee |

Traveling with a family from China with twin 6 year olds, Pullen Park was a great choice for an outing. The train ride, paddle boats, playground equipment, carrousel, etc were all big hits. A fun time for all.

Full of natural beauty

By Crystal M |

Great place to have a picnic or just walk and see all of the flowers and gardens. We took our dogs and they were ready to drop by the time we got done walking all the paths. Plus if you have kids, there are plenty of playgrounds, carnival activities and an indoor carousel. But everything is spaced out enough that if you don't want to go near the kids stuff, you can have a quiet walk. Plus there are paddle boats on the lake.

Fun Activities and Park

By Myrna A |

Beautiful park. We enjoyed the paddle boats, carousel and train. Our niece thoroughly enjoyed exploring the park.

Great place for kids

By MaximII |

The Good:
This place is great for kids. They have a playground, a train to ride, and even a carousel. The walk around the pond the really nice and the grounds are well kept. They have several bridges that make for picturesque photo opportunities. They also seem to be a home to several turtles and geese. There also is a statue of Andy Griffith and his son, which is pretty cool. The plaque has a Q-Code that you can scan with your phone to get more info.

The Not So Good:
The park has really limited parking. Also, the park is located next to a major highway, so all you can really hear is the highway all day.

Great place to take the kids....

By bkhd |

Great place to take the kids....I wish I had known about this place when my adult sons were small...A great place for couples young and old to walk around and enjoy the scenery as well as the Merry-Go-Round and train ride....Plan on bringing the grand-kids here when I am giving the privilege of having some....Can't wait for the fall to get here to be able to fully enjoy being outside to walk around with a nice cool breeze to go along with the beautiful fall foliage....Looking forward to getting back here to enjoy the train ride I miss out on when I was here last.....

great city park for everyone

By rexhans |

This is a great park and very busy. parking was a little difficult but not impossible. we visited later in the afternoon and there were a lot of families with young children. there is an enclosed antique carousel as well as a miniature train that circles the park. the train costs $1.50 per ticket, not sure about the carousel but imagine it is probably the same. there are also paved paths around and throughout the park. lots of green spaces also. great place to spend an afternoon

Awesome Park

By lilyfayesherman |

There are many rides and it is a wonderful experience. There is a carousal, paddle boats, a train ride and amazing trails. I would definitely recommend this!!!!!

Great for the family

By CSItraveller |

This place is great for the family, but caution - it can get very, very crowded - and with that parking becomes almost impossible, though an overflow parking lot (not far from the Park) helps - a little. During the summer, the paddle boats are in operation. The train, and carousel is year-round, the lines are long. Tip - buy a string of tickets as soon as you get into the park (free entry) for the rides. Plenty of space for picnics on the higher lawns.

Took the Grandkids

By Kay R |

We had a wonderful time... great places to walk around... favorite thing is the carousel... an old-fashioned treat!

Old school awesomeness

By alliemacmor |

Pulled Park has been a Raleigh treasure for decades. It has a gorgeous merry-go-round, paddle boats on a duck pond, refreshments for sale, a mini train that circuits the grounds, and more. It is fantastic!,,

We will go back and look forward to pumpkin season

A must for fans of the Andy Griffith Show

By gatortunor |

Pulled park has beautiful surroundings, a merry go round, train rides and walking trails for all ages, but my favorite thing is the statue of Andy and Opie walking to their fishing hole with rods slung over their shoulders.

By clamb627 |

Beautiful old carousel, most rides one dollar, park is very clean with several picnic areas, parking is good but some what limited on good weather weekends

Visit Daughter

By paul h |

Stopped in while visiting our daughter. Although we didn't ride the amusements, the walk thru the park and along the lake was very enjoyable. Well worth the visit.

Pullen Park is a gem!

By TrixieNC |

Take your kids for a ride in the beautiful carousel, enjoy the swings and slides, the open area, the pond and ducks. A lovely little gem right in town. If you are visiting, going to museums and such, this is a great place for your kids to run around before heading home. They also have a nice consession for snacks or lunch.

Beautiful Gardens

By Talaya D |

Parking is an issue, but wonderful venue for family picnics, walking, outdoor fun or relaxation. There is a snack shop. One can also rent paddle boats.

Fun for kids

By Emily P |

This is a great place to take the kids to run around like little heathens when the weather is good. They can go bonkers on the train ride, or lose their little minds choosing what to ride on the carousel. And, admittedly, as an adult, you may go a little bananasammich yourself, but you can relax near the lake if you need a break, which really is picturesque. Highly recommend Pullen Park!

Fun family friendly afternoon

By John D |

Playgrounds, swings, train, carousel, paddle (foot) boats, and kids boat ride. Inexpensive and fun. The tickets are $1.50 each and it's one ticket for each ride except paddle boats which are 4 tickets for four people. I didn't go on them this trip. The playground and grounds are all free, only the rides cost extra. Bathrooms were clean. Great for kids of all ages. Excellent for a few hours for kids. There are food and drinks on site which I didn't visit this trip.

Fun

By Sam B |

Went here as a child and now taking 3 grand kids. Fun place if it is not to hot or cold or raining. Good cafe and many fun things to do.

Quaint, sweet place for families

By Mark S |

Any family in the triangle with Children under 8 needs to go here! It is sweet, typically not very crowded, and best of all no lines!!! I still have memories of our youngest son's delight at sitting in a "real boat" and pretending to steer as it went around in circles....

And if you don't have kids? You should go too, the merry go round is awesome.

This place is a hidden gem, in my view.

Love this park!

By elizabethpY4385KN |

This is the best value for entertainment in Raleigh. A great place for birthdays and reunions! Love the rain that is $1.00 a ride and the Carosel same price. Lots of swings and slides.. get there early for a parking spot!

Tranquil Day at the Park

By gwkelley |

We visited the park last year and enjoyed our visit so we thought we would go back and visit again. We rode the train, paddle boats, and was able to walk around and enjoy the beautiful park.

A great place

By Ralph R |

This Raleigh City park boasts a real caliope and a scale train. It is centrally located and easy to find. Generally it is kept clean and safe. It is a great place to take young children if visiting Raleigh.

Central Park of Raleigh

By CareOhLine |

Pulled truly is the Central Park of Raleigh. Great place to picnic, walk, run, go for a tiny train ride, carousel or go for a boat ride. The history of the park is captivating too including the old alligator put my friend now likes to roller blade at.

Fun throwback park

By ASBx |

Great, inexpensive place to visit and let the kids run wild. Nice for couples if they want to walk around but expect there to be children running around. There are paddle boats for rent. There is also a carousel, mini locomotive and tiny boats for the kids. Ride tickets are only $1/ea and the only ride that requires multiple tickets are the paddle boats.

Great place to hang out, have a picnic, bring the family, or just relax.

By Michelle B |

Pullen Park has a little something for everyone. It has a great kids play area, plenty of picnic places, lots of shade trees, and nice walkways. For just $1 person, you can ride the train around the park, or go for a carousel ride. Plus more! My family really enjoys coming here for a picnic and some play time.

Something for everyone

By LeejaClane |

We were at this park for a business cookout a few days ago. I love how the park is separated into different areas for multiple proposes, but they're all close enough together that they are accessible without feeling crowded.

Great place to hang out

By rohitsja1987 |

By skipis |

Beautiful weather and nice staff. We go about once a year. My wife loves the carousel My mother loved the swings

Fun place to take my young grand children

By Jane E |

Pullen Park is clean and has a lot of play space and attractions. My grandchildren love the train that travels the perimeter of the park and of course, the carousel. There are sections for varying ages, which makes playing safer and more interactive. Slides, sand areas, teeter totters and more. The park also has a great snack bar with reasonably priced snacks and light lunches. Picnic tables and benches are throughout the park.

Perfect for active children (of any age)

By bssellin936 |

We took our 6 and 3 year old grandchildren there. Plenty of room for children to run, play and make noise! The Paddle Boats offer a great way to burn off excess energy, or just enjoy a leisurely cruse. While the train ride is fun the carousel is the gem.

A real Jewel of a park

By John K |

The newly renovated Pullen Park is a terrific facility. It's got something for everyone, and will keep young ones busy for a full day and still have enough new for a return visit. Picnic shelters, carousel, paddle boats, train rides....it's all here. Beautifully kept.

Everything we hope for.

By Pam S |

My grandkids had a blast and when they are happy Im happy. It was the perfect place to spend a beautifull Saturday.

Picnic n games in the park

Family outing last weekend had a blast out young ones did the rides and we grilled it was a very pleasant and active day

"Pull in" to Pullen Park for a grand old time! A wonderful, old fashioned carousel highlights the visit!

By D2958ZXgarym |

It’s not Disneyland, but Raleigh’s Pullen Park has a magical charm all its own and is the epitome of a city park. Raleigh residents enjoy spending time at their beautifully-landscaped park, and those from outside the Capitol City area will likewise find it a rewarding place to visit. Listed among the park’s current amenities are picnic facilities, ball fields and tennis courts, a community center, an arts center, an indoor aquatic center, and a well-equipped playground area. The Pullen Park Café is a concession stand that prides itself on offering customers fresh, local, and seasonal food.

The main draws, of course, are the old-time amusement rides. Pedal boats are available to ply the calm waters of the pond, and there’s a miniature locomotive, a brightly-painted, scaled-down version of the steam engines commonly used in latter half of the 1800s, to take passengers on a short trip around the park’s outer boundaries. The grand attraction for most Pullen Park visitors, however, is the circa 1910 Dentzel Carousel. Built in Germantown, Pennsylvania, this merry-go-round is one of only 23 remaining Dentzel carousels in the world, and one of only 14 Dentzel menagerie carousels operating in North America. 50 feet in diameter, the merry-go-round features two chariots, 16 stationary animals, and 36 galloping animals. The hand-carved, garishly-ornate collection of animals includes a lion, tiger, and giraffe; flying pigs and cats; and nearly two dozen charging ponies. While riders whirl, a Wurlitzer Military Band Organ dating to the early 1900s provides the appropriate musical accompaniment.

Pullen Park is open every day, year-round. Tickets are required for all rides.

A perfect place to make memories~

By LoveTravel783458 |

If you have little ones this is the place to go to show them how wonderful it was when you were little. There is a beautiful carousel, a train that takes you on a super fun ride around the park. Paddle boats, and lil' boats for your smalls(kids) to man or woman their own boat. You do need to purchase tickets for the rides but there is also regular old school fun with swings and sliding boards and bouncy fun for free. There is lots more. I want to leave you some surprises. Pack a picnic lunch for your family or buy something there to eat. Plus, it's so pretty there with the lake, trees and wildlife. A perfect place to make memories ~

Beautiful park near downtown and plenty of other attractions!

Pullen park was completely renovated a few years ago and it has been made all the more beautiful in the process. Lots of things for kids to do from the huge playground, to the carousel, the pedal boats and the small train (tickets not included). Adults may enjoy the park as well as it is beautifully designed and has a little cafe with snacks that are perfect for a picnic. Pullen can often be busy on really nice days and adults without kids may have trouble finding a quiet spot, but its worth a shot if you are in the area.

A great inner city park!

By whopper007 |

The City of Raleigh has done a great job with Pullen Park. The playgrounds, the train, the carousel, the paddle boats, the open spaces - all of it combines to make for fun for children and adults. Inexpensive. Picnic shelters are available throughout the park. Weekdays are best but if the weekend is your only option be prepared for a crowd. Worth it! Don't forget bread to feed the ducks!

Wonderful Time

By jwtjwtjwt |

Family and grandchildren had a wonderful time in this park. Stayed most of the day entertaining the kids and enjoying watching them. Would recommend the rides.

Grandchildren love it!

By Kenneth C |

several trips with grandchildren- they (all) love it. Form drum to water to pond to train ride- all were a big hit

A childhood paradise

By Ashley R |

I have been going to this park since I was a kid. It was really interesting because the Pullen family who donated the land gave it to the City of Raleigh with the stipulation that black people could not be excluded from using the park as it was given at a time when segregation was still very prevalent in that era. It's seen many renovations over the decades and is a center piece and destination in Raleigh and a lot of things for the kids to do. I spent many times there and it was a big part of my childhood.

Best memories are made here!!

By Olivia A |

Whether you walk the lake or play in the playground, Pullin Park will quickly become your Go-to spot in downtown Raleigh!! After 10 years being gone from Raleigh, we visited during Thanksgiving break and Pullin Park was our meeting place on two occasions. The park offers train rides (minimal cost), age-appropriate playgrounds, carousel rides, paddle boats, and green space for picnicking. When my boys were young, we spent hours down here. When in Raleigh, visit Pullin Park. You won't be disappointed!!!

Peaceful

Very beautiful park area off NCState campus. Train for children and paddle boats which were fun, playground wedding going on at gazebo.

Fabulous!

By Darlin |

Beautiful park that the entire family will enjoy! You will not be disappointed at all with your visit there. It was supposed to be just an hour visit, however we spent many hours here! This place is definitely a must see for the family!

Great afternoon with our grand daughters

By powchesco |

Being recent movers to the Raleigh area, when our granddaughters came to visit we were looking for things to do. Discovered Pullen Park and what a surprise. Beautiful park with 4 or five rides for the kids. Tix for the rides were only $1 each. They rode on the train which circles the park and the antique age merry-go-round. Five of us had a fun afternoon for $20. there is enough fun stuff for the kids that you can spend time there without spending anything. Congrats to the City of Raleigh for a fun filled beautiful place

For over a century!

By Jason S |

If you live in Raleigh and you haven't been, you need to go. Ride the train and a very cool historic carousel. Surrounded by a lake, landscaped gardens and beautiful walking paths. Also, historic landmarks and picnic space... Parking can be tricky to figure out but its worth it.

It's a gem of a park, so go see it.

By c5mjb |

The park is beautiful, and fun just to walk around. For the best overview of the park, take the train, which is an old-timey C.P. Huntington miniature. It's cheap, only two bucks per ticket, and will give you a good look at where to go in the park. It's a gem of a park, so go see it.

Play day

By meaghannz |

Visited Pullen Park with my husband, sister, brother in law and nephew. It was a cold day but still a lot of fun. The train is so cute and the carousel is also so cute. My nephew enjoyed it very much as did the adults. This is a great park with a lot to offer!

Great park

By indira94 |

Great park to go to
The is a reasonably priced carousel and train ride. They also sell healthy snakes at their concession stand. It is small enough to get a good walk in.
There are also boat rides for rent. Great play area for the kids and there is plenty of green space to kick a ball around.

Great place to spend the day!

By Bernie C |

Took the whole family here. Great place to wander around and enjoy the outside and fresh air. Took our little ones here where they had a blast in their large playground, took a ride on the train and carousel. The carousel was a nice break to get out of the heat. The site offers some basic concessions but seems to be open for your own picnic supplies if you wish.

Beautiful park

By Dream709275 |

This park is worth a visit. There are several activities for kids such as a playground, train and carousel. There are quiet places to sit and a peaceful feeling although the park was crowded. It is a great way to spend a nice afternoon outside. I enjoyed my time here and would go back.

Party time

By Hankbraz |

I have been to Pullen park several times over the past couple years with groups of friends and always enjoyed the facilities provided. The covered pavilion and associated open areas always gave us some great opportunities to do our activities. I give it a hardy recommendation for groups, make your reservations early. Also great for a couple to check it out. Enjoy!!

Excellent for toddlers

By U382206 |

Love the carousel and train ride. There are park sections for all ages which is nice as well. My only advice is to eat before you get there or bring plenty of money
The food is pricey.

A Toot-Toot Hoot for kids and their grown-ups!

By thumper552015 |

We took our granddaughters to Pullen Park three times during their visit. The train was fun for the girls and us, and they loved the carousel and kiddie boat ride. Paddle boats were too small for long-legged folks, so maybe next year the girls can go by themselves or with petite friends. Playgrounds were a treat, especially the rope jungle gyms and seesaws. The girls had a blast and we loved watching them push the edge of the envelope.

Great place for kids

By Louis F |

We went with our almost 4 year old and he loved it. Really nice and clean place with plenty to do for the kids. The train ride was a big hit along with the little boat ride.

Looking for some Inexpensive Fun

By Goldengirl0711 |

Try Pullen Park. Over 60 acres of lush greenery, trails and sitting areas. An old time Carousel and Train you can buy tickets for. The train is a great way to see the park. Parking is free.

Great place for kids - affordable

My aunt took the kids here to pass time while I was in training. They loved it. My kids are 5 and 9. The train, merry-go-round and all of the activities were very fun!

Small peaceful park enjoyable to walk around with some food including hot dogs and ice cream. Also has paddle boat rides and you can bring food to feed the ducks.

Great place for kids

By PHJ |

This is a great place to visit, with all different free playgrounds richly equipped it's a great place to bring kids, for a very low lost ($1.00/person and ride) there is train ride, "old" fashion carrousel, paddle boats and more

Beautiful setting

By edbo2121 |

Plenty of equipment for all ages. Beautiful carousel. Food at concessions is average for a park. Very reasonable charges for train and carousel.

Great for a lovely day

By CharlotteDayTripper |

What a wonderful park in the center of the big city. Right next to North Carolina State University. Lots of food options within walking distance on Hillsborough. Great paths to the park well arranged. Fun train. Perfect for a nice day for children and adults alike

Carousel, paddle boats, trains, food, green spaces

By DoozerLaFae |

This was a park I came to as a child and (due to moving) hadn't been to in years. On a trip through I stopped to ride the historic carousel and see the area. The park is well maintained with many activities, snack bar/ cafe, and beautiful spaces to sit, read, or play. The carousel doesn't disappoint, enclosed in a lovely building with a menagerie of Dentzel animals. The band organ is behind glass now, and wasn't playing when we rode, but I later heard you can request it to be played during your ride for the full experience. I ate a carolina style hotdog at the cafe/ snack area, which is making a real push for local suppliers, which I liked. We walked around some of the green spaces adjacent to the paddle boat area and visited the caboose. While you are in the area also check out Chavis park. During segregation it was a park built for the African American community and features a wonderful carousel. The carousel was built by a different, but equally well know company, giving you a totally different style of horses to ride. The tickets sold at pullen park are good for both carousels at both parks!

Great place for memories with your kids

By Tom W |

You won't find a more family-friendly environment. Plenty of options, affordable rides, nice facilities, and accessible. They did a great job with the upgrades a couple of years ago and it is a hallmark of downtown Raleigh. Riding the train and carousel are memory-makers for the kids. Don't go at peak times (weekends with nice weather) or you'll be disappointed in the parking challenges. Find a less-traveled day and it will be great.

Enjoyable visit

By Sd87uk |

We visited Pullen Park as a family with 2 infants, it is a lovely place and has a few rides which are reasonably priced.

Saturday adventure

By Carolyn B |

Very nice family park! The kids loved it all. There are paddle board, carosel, a train, not to mention great playground areas. You can even take a nice long walk on the trails. Park is clean and well kept.

Family ReUnion

What an awesome time in a beautiful place!!!! The weather was perfect and the park itself has so much to offer all ages!!!

Great Family Event Location

By Wanda M |

The shelters are a great place to host a family event! We used shelter 4 for family reunion of 75 and there was plenty of room. This shelter is convenient to the train and restrooms. We had not been since the renovations and this is a very nice park with lots of walking paths!

The only downside is parking on a weekend day is horrendous but luckily, shelter visitors get to go to a special area to find parking.

Great little park with nice facilities

By Jonathan B |

Great little park with nice facilities. No big blockbuster rides or attractions but for kids under 12 there's enough to do here at a reasonable price for a couple of hours.

Beautiful and well designed park!

By hisloveydovey |

I can’t say enough about this wonderful park! Something for everyone. Little kids have train, boats and carousel. Tons of park equipment to climb, swing and play. Peddle boats available and lots of walking paths and bridges. Very clean and well maintained. We loved this park!

Great Fun

What a wonderful place to take children of all ages. Lots of places to sit in the shade, or watch the young ones play on the apparatus, ride on the carousel, or the paddle boats, or the train.
Very clean.

Perfect Day At The Park

By F M B |

Long time favorite in Raleigh. Plenty of good old time kid fun for everyone. Paddle boating is a must!

Nice place to walk around the lake

By bradreeder |

A nice peaceful setting and a great walking trail around the lake. The carousel and the train have been completely renovated so it is a nice afternoon place to take the kids or go for a family outing.

Arrive early, parking is insufficient.

By smithnewland |

This is primarily for the kids, and draws big crowds. There is a train, a carousel, and paddle boats, as well as a popular playground area. It is also a good place for a family picnic, and at the top of the hill (with a separate entrance) is the venue for Shakespeare in the Park (google for dates and prices). The concession stand can provide a salad for the health conscious in addition to the staples of burgers, nachos and fries. The park is well-maintained, and has enough trees to provide much-needed shade in the summer heat. Arrive early, as parking can be problematic - for special events there is a grassy area that is opened for parking, but even that can be quickly filled. If there were more parking I would have rated this an excellent attraction, rather than just very good.

Great place for both kids and adults

By debbiekubiet1 |

No entrance fee to use the par. There are costs to ride the train, paddle boats, etc.
This park provides activities for both kids and adults. Kids can ride the train, you can get a snack at the concession stand and adults can walk around the park or paddle boat. Plus, at times, Pullen Park offers various activities for kids.

Day visit

By Fernphoto |

Great park plenty of activities for kids including a train ride, carousel, pkay ground. With concession stands in case you forget a snak

Fabulous place and a great place to spend time with friends and/or family

By Tina R |

We love Pullen Park. It is a great place to go almost year round. However, we especially like going there in the spring and summer when the weather is lovely and the flowers are in bloom. Fall is also nice. And during December it is great place to take your kids with all the trees lit up. The train rides are fun for any age and cost just $1 per ride. There is also a large pond where you can rent a peddle boat. You can also walk all around the park, which is beautifully laid out with bridges, trees, pond, flowers, playground for kids. It takes approximately 45 minutes to walk around the park. There is also a lovely carousel. Bring food and have a picnic or buy food at the food stand. And there is free parking across the road. And entrance to Pullen Park is Free!! Can''t get much better than that! We never tire of going to Pullen Park.

Nice park adjacent to NC State campus

By Csm1197 |

Lots to do plenty to see with a train ride around the park. Some other rides and concession to round out your visit

Great park!

By katrinap373 |

Pullen park is a favorite for my family. From toddlers to school-age there is spacious, age appropriate playground equipment, a train, paddle boats, a carousel, and a food stand. They also have covered tables that you can reserve for family gatherings. They also have special music guests during warm months that you can enjoy for free. I enjoy this park.

Great Family Park

By swimback |

Our family has had birthday celebrations for young children using one of the picnic tables with a shelter. There are lots of other regular picnic tables in the open. Only drawback is that you have to contact City f Raleigh to reserve a shelter.
The kids love this area, especially the train ride. There is a lot of playground equipment for the children, too. Plenty of area to run and play. There is also a big indoor swim pool adjacent to the play area.

WONDERFUL Park and great food!

By Florida.Girl.2006 |

We visited with our two young kids and had a great time!

The food is wonderful. A great variety, well done and actually tasty! That is fantastic for a park.

The playground would have been sufficient for my oldest! She loved crawling around and enjoyed the variety. As a parent, the soft landing ground was wonderful. It made me feel better as there were lots of places to climb.

The train was amazing! My youngest loved it. It was comfortable and the time amount on the train was a good amount (not too short). The adults fit well in the train, which was nice as sometimes you find yourself cramped!

This place would be great for a picnic as well.

Parking could be improved. There wasn't a lot available so we ended up circling for some time. Otherwise - amazing!

A must see if you have kids

By arras07 |

We love Pullen Park! It's a guaranteed fun time for the kids. The train ride, carousel, and playgrounds are favorites. Plus there are paddle boats on the lake for older kids and a boat ride for young children. Highly recommend!

Great park

By Julia S |

This park was so fantastic and has so much to offer, train rides for $1 per person, pedal boats for $6, playground equipment, snack shop and restaurant. Fun afternoon outside in Raleigh

Great place for kids

By gibson20 |

We have taken my grandson here many times. The equipment is plentiful and well maintained and the train rides and carousel are awesome for kids and adults. They have a place to get healthy snacks and drinks as well.

Fun Times

By DScharett |

Relaxing time, the merry-go-round, boats, and train are always a must. The play area is well kept. The park is shaded with huge old trees and has a lake. The atmosphere is very relaxed.

The train is such fun

By MICHAEL B |

The train is such fun, and dirt cheap too. And you get a good overview of this beautiful park as you go around. It's a must-see—just don't try it around Christmas, as tickets are unobtainable.

Love it!

By reise3 |

This is such a pretty park. What a great place to spend a peaceful afternoon strolling along the water or enjoying the rides with your kids. Ride tickets are only $1.50. The carousel, kiddie boats, & train are 1 ticket each, and the pedal boats are 4 tickets/boat. The park offers other amenities as well, including playgrounds, picnic shelters, aquatic/art centers, a theatre, & more.

Nice place to have lunch

By Army1311 |

With all the remodeling that's gone on over there it is nice. I like to go hangout and have lunch there from time to time even a nice place to hangout with the family if you want a day out of the house and enjoying some fresh air.

Fantastic time with 2 toddlers

By GolferNC62 |

My grandchildren, ages 3 1/2 and 2 1/2, absolutely love this park. Free entrance with lots of play areas and things to explore. Lots of climbing, slides, and hands-on play experiences with sand and digging toys.

If you want to spend just a little cash, you have a wonderful old carousel housed in an air conditioned pavilion, a toddler-sized boat ride, or my kids favorite, the train ride around the park! They also have a snack bar with drinks, burgers, dogs, etc.

Only go on the weekends when its busy

By robin l |

Nice park but look out for some not so great park goers that are high and possibly homeless. My adult daughter and I left early and in a hurry because there were def. some sus type guys there. It was a weekday and the park was pretty empty so maybe on the weekend its much better and safer. Its obvi that there are drug deals going down in the park. We are not paranoid ppl but we know when we see things that are sus.

Great for all ages

By Erica L |

Each ride is $1 which is very cheap. There are plenty of swings and slides and things for the kids to climb on. It has some things from when I was a kid that you don't see in parks any more like see-saw or teeter totter and the little animals on springs that you got on and rocked back and forth

Family Fun Park with Parking Issues

By TravelingTogether5 |

This is a fun park complete with mini train rides for adults and kids, paddle boats, playground, lots of space and tables for picnics and more. The biggest drawback is the parking during busy times. If you attend on a holiday weekend or even standard weekends sometimes, finding a parking space can be a bear! If you know that in advanced and pack some extra patience, the park is worth a visit and the kids will thank you for it!

Pullen Park Visit

By mrg0476 |

Pullen park is a nice place to visit.Been here plenty of times with my family. A nice place for a family outing. Or for a family reunion. Plenty of grilling stations throughout the park for grilling. A lot of benches to sit down and enjoy the view. Or enjoy the affordable rides they have on premises. Like the train and boat rides or carousel. Or just sit back and enjoy some of the free concerts that they have on premises. Overall Pullen Park is a wonderful place to visit for a family or solo outing.

Nice Park, close to downtown

By Howard S |

This is a nice park that is close to downtown Raleigh and has many things that are good for children including a playground, carousel, kiddie boats, and a miniature train that you can ride around the park on. In addition, there are pedal boats, ball fields and tennis courts.

Always a joy!

By Margaret H |

Great for children and families - the train has been one of my favorites for 30 years! Wonderful playground (newly updated) and the carousel is a classic!

Nice stroll

By JayCes |

Had to kill some time before my flight home, and after I ate at Chucks downtown Raleigh. What a nice park, with multiple trails and a pond/stream, and some rides for kids - merry go round and a train.

Couples and Family Fun

Great place to bring grandkids. They can ride the Paddle Boats, Boat Ride, Train Ride and ride a Merry-Go-Round. You can explore a full size Train Caboose, play in the sand or have a picnic. A must visit park...

Lovely stroll!

By FinickyNewYorker |

Beautiful park. No charge to get in. Very relaxing. There is a carousel, small cafe, lots of bathrooms. There are a lot of places to eat if you bring your own food.

Omg! I thought I was a kid again

By Anita K |

What a wonderful park! It reminded me of the type of parks with rides from my childhood, 50s and 60s. The park opened in 1887. It still has the original carrousel kept in good condition over the years. There is a train that will take you around the perimeter of the park. Each ride cost $1. Big modern playground area for children. A lake with foot paddle boats, a little enclosed boat ride for toddlers, and a great concessions with traditional and healthy selections like sandwiches, wraps, soup, salads. I ordered romaine/kale Caesar salad. The soup of the day was roasted tomato soup - delicious, reasonably priced. A nice memorial to The Andy Griffith Show. You have to go to Pullen Park weather it's solo, with family/friends. You will have a good time.

Nice spot to spend a few hours with the kids

By Jon A |

Located next to the NC State University campus, Pullen Park is a nice place to spend a few hours with the kids. There is an indoor carousel as well as an outdoor train ride. There's a small lake/ pond and picnic tables as well. This is a really clean park. There are also concession stands to buy snacks/ food.

Fun for everyone

By pmdockins |

We stopped here for a few hours to let the kids get their wiggles out. It is an awesome park! The tickets for the train and carousel were $1 per person! It has several different types of play areas, a long walking path around the lake, and a snack bar if everyone gets hungry or thirsty. Well worth the visit if you have kids that need to stretch their legs and release some energy.

Water feature alone is fun

Beautiful water feature with bright North Carolina blue paddle boats. On the water or on foot just stroll and take in the glories of mother nature. Get there before the rest of the leaves fall!

Back to childhood

By Adriana R |

Visiting this park shows you’re always young at heart. I went with my parents and we loved the train ride and the carousel. Didn’t order any food but it’s nice to have the option and the restrooms were clean.

Fun Place

By jessjones0417 |

This park is awesome for families, couples, singles...it really doesn’t matter.

My husband and I went to the park after landing at RDU because we wanted to enjoy the amazing weather. Even without kids, we found plenty of things to do, and really enjoyed walking around looking at all the different trees. We even took the train around the park, which is only $1.50 per person, so no complaints here!

They also have an aquatic area, but it was under renovations. Hopefully, it will be open in time for summer!

Nice park

By str8oz |

This is a very well maintained and clean park. There is a carousel and a mini train and a playground. And there are paths and bridges if you want to enjoy a stroll near the river.

It was a pleasure to be at the park my nephew loved the train and ducks. Would recommend anyone to visit the park.

Holiday express

By Jessimv |

We were lucky enough to score tickets to this event and it was worth it. Our two year old had an amazing time, and the event was well organized and ran smoothly. We loved the "snow" and sled riding! I think the parents in our group went more times than the kids! The carousel is a favorite of ours year round. We visit pulled often during the year and it's a special park that's unlike any other I have found!

Such a wonderful park!

By photogchick |

This is a unique park with beautiful, well maintained grounds, ample playgrounds for all levels with rubber ground and innovative design. Additionally, there are rides available on a vintage carousel, a small train and little boats -all for $1 each.

Lots to see and do: Carousel, Train, Paddle Boats, etc

By SharronS210 |

There's a lot to do a Pullen: Ride the Carousel, the Train, Paddle Boat, etc. Or you could just walk around and take in the scenery: beautiful plants, the ducks, kids at play.

Nice park for children and adults alike!

By Julie S |

As a little girl, we would visit Pullen Park when visiting with family in Raleigh. I went here this past weekend so my adult children could run and it brought back pleasant memories! This is such a nice park for families with children! Plenty of activities, a playground, a cafe, a carousel and picnic shelters. There is also a nice walking path around the park and pond.

Great place to spend an afternoon!

Fun park for young kids

By CraigMo79 |

This is such a cool park. I have been bringing my kids here for years starting from age 2. You can ride a train, carousel, pedal boats and playground equipment.

Beautiful

By dewmaniii |

Didn't spend much time here, arrived near the end of the day. But the park looks very big and it is very beautiful. Rides for the kids, a place to grab something to eat, beautiful 'lake' on the property. I found the great tribute/statue of Andy Griffith and son on the property. Would love to return and spend more time. Parking lot is paved but I can see how it could fill up pretty quickly.

Rolling hills, trees and lots of greenery

By bee20152015 |

This park is situated right beside NCSU and is convenient to Glenwood Avenue, Cameron Village and Meredith College as well. It is a such a fresh escape from stress. There are lots of activities to choose from. Parking is the only drawback.

Really enjoyed the day with family at this nostalgic park. Last time I visited the park, my youngest son was 8, he is now 31. The Carousel is still great fun.
So good to share this park with my granddaughter.😊

Very Neat & Peaceful Park.

By Megan F |

We went during COVID and during closed hours, but just to walk around in a peace and quiet park was wonderful. Does need some cleaning. But it was pretty cool to see. not many people there, some moms on walks with kids, older couple sitting by the pond. Would be cool to experience it in it's normal, non COVID state, because it bet it would be BEAUTIFUL, very dreamy.

Really nice park near NC State

By Travelienchen |

This is a nice park that is between downtown and NC State. It has enough parking available and is really easy to reach. The park is very family friendly. I think they also have certain activities for kids. But this is also a nice place for couples to take a walk. Visit the park at different seasons of the year - it will always surprise you by its beauty. There is a small lake in the park, I think you can rent out some boats. Near to the park is a pool and also tennis courts for the ones who want to be more active. There is also an area behind the park were larger groups (around 10 people) can get together to picnic.

ALWAYS A FUN PLACE TO G0

By patty l |

Our son and 2 grand kids were down from Florida. Pullen park is always a go to place to visit when they are here. There are things to climb, dig in the sand, jungle gymp ,a train ride you can buy a ticket for and also a very nice carousel ride that requires a ticket. The tickets are $1 for each ride. That's a great deal! Theres also a snack area where you can purchase various items.

A must

By Terica M |

We always have a blast when we come here. Between the carousel and the trains young children will be amused. Even the teenagers were entertained. Now if your gonna eat her the foods okay but in the warmer months it’s a lot more fun to pack your blanket & picnic basket.

Always a great place to take the kids

By 35805Anna |

Pullen Park is a great destination with the kids. We love the rides for the kids, the paddle boats, and the train. We love the old carousel and the beautifully painted, ornate horses and animals. It’s worth the short drive and reasonable expenditure. The snack area has very nice options for all of us. Just a great place to visit for an afternoon.

Pullen Park

By Trail779345 |

Great park and especially for children. I took a niece and she enjoyed the merry go round/hobby horses, the train ride and really enjoyed the paddle boat and riding with her grandmother. It was a fun day since the weather was warm but not hot. Fun place to spend the day for all age children.

Fun things to do as a family. Tickets (for purchase) required for rides. We went as a family and really enjoyed the playground and paddleboats.

Fun place to relax

By PSU8585 |

if it is not too crowded the park is a great place to take a stroll and relax. you can even take a train ride or rent a paddleboat.

Must do for families with small children

By CarolynQ63 |

This park is beautifully maintained. The kiddie train was not functioning but the beautiful carousel was. We witnessed a wedding held beneath the pergola. There are paddle boats for rent. The pond is the focal point of the park.

Super cute for the Pre-school set

By FamFive1 |

Enjoyed a fun hour at the park. Well maintained and filled with little kids and their grown-ups! We rode the train and the carousel!

Weekend getaway

Raleigh is a quaint city that has many options and some great restaurants.
It’s easy to get around and people are friendlier than the North East.

Wonderful Family Fun!

By Happiness534043 |

My son and his wife, and their 2 sons, went to Pullen Park on Labor Day. We had a WONDERFUL time! My grandsons are 2 and 1 year old. They had a blast! We rode the carousel and the train, and my oldest grandson rode the kiddie boats. It was very affordable, and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place for good family fun!

wish we had this park here at home :) :) :)

By jwmcrazynurse |

This is one of the BEST city parks we have ever been to. My children loved this park !! It has pedal boats, a carousel, a train ride around the park, a midway carnival boat ride for younger children, and several different playgrounds and walking paths. parking was not bad and the park was very easy to find. The bathrooms were very clean for a cit park. They even had a small inside reading area with a decent selection of children's books for children to read and cool off inside (nice bonus for a break). You buy tickets for the rides (of course) but the prices were reasonable. My kids road the carousel like a dozen times and we rode the train 3 times. There is an actual train caboose set up near the playgrounds that they can climb on and explore. There is a cafe / snack bar (Pullen Cafe) at the park so you can have a picnic and not have to leave (numerous picnic areas and tables) Very helpful and friendly staff (plenty of additional staff with all of the children there) WE will definitely go back to this park and my children are already asking about going back. Great job Raleigh, NC with this park !!! WE stayed almost all day and even had lunch at the Pullen Cafe (picnic tables outside the cafe)

Parent's haven for their kids

By Patty F |

The play area is remarkable. The carousal, train and boats are a highlight in good weather. Most notable is the playground areas in both equipment and safety. The ground is the rubber that softens a fall. The equipment is tight (not wobbly) and located in age appropriate areas. In addition, it is enforced that the proper age play in that area. No 10 year olds with the toddlers.

Fun, low-key park

By pfafftonian |

We visited Pullen Park with our grandchildren, and had a blast! Pullen Park feels like a throw-back to parks as they were years ago. There is a train ride, paddle boats, carousel, and more. It was a nice way to spend part of a weekend.

Perfect place to take the Grandkids

By Beverly |

We took our Grandson on one of those perfect North Carolina winter saturdays and had the best time. Carousel and train the best bargain in Raleigh at $1.00 person.Free admission to park playgrounds for all ages. Concession stand really good too. All around a day we will remember and will definitely be going back.

Nice stroll

By Alexandra T |

Pullen Park is free to enter and park. There is a carousel and a train for a small fee. It is a beautiful place to stroll around.

Atrocious parking capacity

By Ryan S |

Don't bother even attempting to come here if it's a sunny Saturday. It's pathetic how little parking there is for such a big park.

Excellent park!

By Dan R |

In Raleigh & right next to NCSU. Really enjoyed the water & bridges! Have entertainment & activities for the kids, as well as plenty of nature to explore

Beautiful Park & Merry-go-round & Olympic Swimming pool

By SonrisaRaleigh |

This is an awesome indoor & outdoor family playground. There is a spectacular merry-go-round, a train that everyone (all ages) can ride and paddle boats. The family can walk around the park & have local, farm fresh snacks from the concession!

Magical

By Adventurer512759 |

Pulled Park is a hidden gem. The paddle boats, train, carousel are an unexpected surprise in a city park. My grandchildren have made many happy memories here. If your on a budget, this place is for you.

LOVE pullen park!

By Jennifer S |

My family has visited Pullen Park multiple times and we always love it! Playgrounds designed for different age groups are a plus. Tickets for boat ride, train, etc are cheap and fun!

Fun for the family

By Papiomary |

For a $1 you can ride a (great) carousel and for another $1 a train. How nice it is to see something that most any family can afford. Lots of other things (swings, slides, etc) that are just fun for kids of all ages.

Great place for grand kids.

By Barbara S |

Love taking our young grand kids to play on the playground, walk around the lake, and to ride the carousel, train and boats for a small fee. Very clean park and tables to bring your picnic with you.

A wonderful day at Pullen Park

By Wilma B |

We have been to Pullen Park many times. It is so much foun for the kids! There are play areas for the smaller kids as well as the older more adventureous kids. The train ride is a favorite for young and old as is the carousel. Pulle park is one park that can be enjoyed for play, adventure or just a quiet walk around the lake. Worth the trip

Clean, attractive park in the city

By CTyer |

Pulled Park has been an attraction in Raleigh for many years. One of it’s best atttibutes is it’s close to downtown, right off Western Boulevard and NC State. My grandsons enjoy the rides and the playground equipment. The one drawback is sometimes it’s hard to find parking. But be persistent. The old Merry Go Round is worth seeing.

Kids morning out

By Betty E |

Great place to take small kids for rides and a picnic. Outdoors adventure for kids and they also rent paddle boats.

Fun but crowded

By Puttertat |

Pulled has a beautiful recently renovated carousel, a mini train, floaty boats for littler kids, and paddle boats for everyone. Their rides are extremely budget friendly, and the park has a nice variety of activities for kids. It does, however, get quite crowded on weekends and those nice first days of spring.

Beautiful place, great for kids.

By CharlotteDayTripper |

Wonderful large old trees, long shaded pathways, lots of green space, and a delightful park at one end of it with a small train, pond and play area. A theatre and art apace, in the middle, and bordered on the other end is Hillsborough with little restaurants and shopping. Be wary walking alone, as in any public place with nooks and crannies, as homeless sometimes frequent the area.

Plenty of fun

By MamaBadger |

My 2 year old had a BLAST and we did too! I thought the park was well laid out and clean. The staff was friendly and bathrooms were well maintained. The price for rides was very reasonable.
My issue is with the kiddies boats. There are no seat belts and parents are not allowed to stand in the area to the side inside the fence. This seems dangerous especially since the riders are around age 1 and up. You could absolutely just not lot your child on it but it is right there next to the train. Overall, the park is wonderful.

Pullen Park is very fun!

By chuck a |

My toddler loves coming to this park every time we are in Raleigh. I wish all parks were just like this one. The train is her favorite part!

A Very Nice Visit

By Peter T |

Pullen Park is a bit smaller than I expected when I went for a visit with my out-of-town fiance. Very child friendly atmosphere with lots of rides and scenery. The carousel and train rides were excellent! Well worth the trip!

Good experience in NC

By SGService A |

Place was quiet, large park, spent for exercises and run at this park... having car parking area..And was my first time to get experience in NC...

Perfect Family Park

By Hanzo581 |

I am not sure you could ask for a better free access public park. Sure, it's busy but there is a reason for that. Plenty for the kids to do and see and the grounds are kept very clean. This was our second visit and we really enjoyed it again. If you are in the area and looking for a place to entertain the kiddos for a few hours this can't really be beat. You can buy tickets to do some of the attractions like the carousel or train and they are very reasonable priced at $1.50 a ticket. They have peddle boats for rent as well to use on the nice little lake they have there.

Fun day

By LizNed55 |

The park is great. A ride around the lake in paddle boats. What a fun day we had. A great summer outing.

Great place to go with kids

By 04grandsons |

My grandsons had a blast. Riding the train, climbing the different jungle gyms, riding the carousel. Big beautiful park for kids and “big kids”

Carousel, train, food, and big play areas

By lovetheblues |

This park is terrific, and all of the rides are $1. The historic carousel is a great experience. Taking the train around the park is fun and feels good. The food selection is very good. There are various playgrounds for different ages. There is not a lot of shade - that's the only negative.

Fun in the park

By Andy A |

Great place to take the family for some fun, lots for kids to do, ride the train, or the paddle boats, or the carousel. Fun for all ages, places for picnics and partys.

Fun day

By BobbiP2003 |

Pulled Park is a great place to plan several hours with the family. So much history with rides and fun. Lots of area to walk around, good parking and not too expensive. A good time as long as the weather is good.

Pretty Cool Day

By Michael P |

Our family has lived in the Raleigh area for about 5 years but had never been to Pullen Park. We finally made the journey from Wake Forest on a Friday afternoon. We enjoyed the paddle boats and saw what we thought was a turtle in the water but it turned out to be a water snake. That freaked out a few in the group but I actually thought it was rather cool. We ate lunch at the park cafe and the food was actually not bad. I was expecting the worse. We would eat there again. It stared to rain a bit while eating and we just huddled under a table umbrella until the storm passed. Maybe our favorite part of the park was the tire swing. Our four teenage daughters took some great Instagram pics and it was very cool to see them smiling and laughing together on that swing.

Fun park, train and carousel

By Simplycarolina |

Great playgrounds, ride the train and carousel for $1 each - you just can’t beat the price for the experience. They do a holiday train ride in December as well. So much fun!

Nice Park in the area

By MehrdadPersian |

The park has a lot more potential but still a pretty nice place to to walk around, and nice views in Fall season for photoshooting considering the foliage.

Also a good connecting point to the trail nearby for running.

Super fun park!

By Helen W |

You know a place is great when it is hard to find somewhere to park!!! This is my only complaint. I love watching the kids on the train and the merry go round. They are having so much fun. It's a great place to take the family and even for a group of adults to just come and relax and picnic in the picnic areas. Beautifully kept and very much fun.

Great venue for families

By Jackie E |

Pullen Park is a great venue for families with young children. Rides include a restored
carousel (enclosed), a miniature steam train, pedal boats on a small lake. Playground
equipment caters to all ages. Tickets for rides are reasonable, making it affordable for
most families.

Great fun for tweens and adults!

By Cathryn C |

Our two tweens loved their evening here and were not too young for things like the train ride, carousel, playground, sandbox and running around. We took out two paddle boats and paddled around the small island enjoying watching the geese and ducks. The Paddle boat was fun but hard for a tall person to paddle while wearing the required life jackets all muct wear. Look for the Andy Griffith statue. The evening we were there we enjoyed watching hoola hoopers, acrobats and a drumming circle.

Great park and rides

By Yuliya T |

Great park, so many great things to do. The playground is great but the carousel and train ride are incredible. We had such a great time as a family enjoyed all the activities here.

kids love this park

By melldan |

Great place to take the kids. We have visited here several times, and the kids love it. They have train ride, carousel ride and much more, boat rentals.

Memories

By Michelle M |

It has been over 40 years since I have been to Pullen Park. Different, and yet the same!. It was amazing to come back and see how it has grown. I loved riding the train once again even though it is a new one. I remember having Easter egg hunts on the hill in front of the train station. The Nostalgia is still the same even though there have been some updates. It was a beautiful day and I really enjoyed being there.

Fun hidden gem

By jpbmn |

I had time before my flight and stopped at this quaint spot filled with inexpensive rides and free activities for families. I spent a joyful hour relaxing there and the decision made my day.

Quaint but fun Park

By rhundt67 |

What an amazing, beautiful and quaint park! We stopped for a hike and some rides (youngest being 19) and it didn’t disappoint. The ride fees were reasonable and we had the carousel all to ourselves!

Pullen Park

By AFinerTraveler |

Pullen Park is a great place to go with family or friends. It’s beautiful and relaxing. Something for kids and adults of all ages.

Best park in Raleigh or even in the State!

By Beth472 |

We've taken our sons to Pullen for years and it's a delightful place with a carousel, train ride, paddle boats and playground. Plus parents can enjoy all the beautiful landscaping, plantings and park benches. Several years ago they did a full restoration of the park and added a very nice little snack shop. Recently my mom and I tried their strawberry salad and blueberry muffins and it was delish!

A child's Paradise

By sue h |

This is a great place for a family outing in good weather. Highlights are the mini boats and the antique carousel. There is also a Deluxe swimming pool for the whole family. It is indoors. Take the whole family with a picnic basket and have a great time. Shut up you jerk does that sound bad

Great

By Sam B |

Been going there all my life and I am 81!!
Great place for a family outing. Good cafe and rides are fun and inexpensive

Pretty Park

By Teresa L |

Thought I would stop by during a business trip.. The park was full of activity. The carousel had many children riding it as well as the train. Several families were lined up to do the paddle boats as well. a great place just to walk around and relax

A Great City Park

By qed982 |

This is a pleasant place to spend time. Try visiting during the week day. Otherwise it is slammed. The train ride is best. Watch your head.

The Carousel is second best.

The picnic areas are excellent for parties. There is plenty of play room and you can purchase starter ticket coupons.

Good place but not for teenagers

By patel1981 |

This place is very good for outdoor picnic with family and friends but not worthy for teens as they don't have anything to do.
There are rides and swings and slides but only for younger kids.
Park is well maintained but I still find there are less rides. kids can play for an hour or two.

Fun, chill park

By aminnemeyer |

Pullen Park is a great way to get away from the city atmosphere of Raleigh. There are great attractions like a train that goes around the park, paddle boats, a carousel, and playgrounds. The park is very low-key and very relaxing. People from out of town should definitely go to Pullen Park when they visit Raleigh.

Beautiful park

By Tammy C |

The train and classic carousel are fun for kids (and I'll admit I've ridden that gorgeous carousel more than once as an adult). The park also has picnic areas, walking paths, a lake with pedal boats, and lots of quiet spots just to sit and relax. The only downside is parking, which is limited.

Sweet little park- such a gem

By megan_jill07 |

This was such a great find while visiting the city! We didn’t quite know what to expect, but this definitely exceeded expectations! Get there early on the weekends and use the QR code to purchase tickets. I also recommend getting a locopop while there. It was a clean little park with well maintained attractions- highly recommend if you have a few hours.

love this park

By CarolinaPirate22 |

We always have the best time here! Whether we're at a birthday party or just taking the kids ourselves. The train is my favorite.

Nice place to take a walk

By Lucretia A |

Loving this park and the atmosphere during my time I spent walking through the park. Nice lake in the middle of the park.

Beautiful Park

By Christy R |

The highlight of this park, for me, was the classic 1911 carousel that was still operational and available for visitors to ride. It was so beautiful and so much fun.

Great fun for the kids

By Jean O |

We were baby sitting our four year old granddaughter while Mom and Dad were busy with the new born. This was a great place for us to take her to spend the day. We all had fun and enjoyed the Carousel ride, the train, and the paddle boats.

Great day with my Grandson!

By Dgwnc55 |

Pullen Park has been a Raleigh treasure since 1887. It has a variety of playground equipment, a train, paddle boats and historic merry-go-round. I love taking my grandson there!

By Scot J |

What a great atmosphere - lots of people, very family friendly. Parking can be slightly challenging but is well organized usually.

Great date spot

By Rick N |

Took my girlfriend to walk around the photogenic location and had a great time. The merry go round is also good for hatching Pokémon eggs lol. The Train is very fun to ride around. Such a photogenic location all around.

Fun! Clean! Great for kids

By ginnyp17 |

This is the fun park including a train that adults and children can ride for a dollar each. There are also paddleboats and rowboat you can rent for five dollars. This park is nice just to be able to walk around and enjoy a nice stroll and get some fresh air and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
You will probably only spend about an hour here, but it will be a hour well spent. Parking is free

A great park for young kids and families

By abridalworld |

Pullen Park is an excellent choice for visiting with young children. Their recently renovated play area has lots of choices for very young children. Play in the sand with diggers or an on-demand river. Swings, climbing structures, slides, see saws and more. And of course there's the fantastic train to ride, kiddie boats, paddle boats and their restored indoor carousel. Plenty of parking, and occasionally you'll hear a live train passing near by. Completely worth the trip!

Great oasis in the city

By Eastwardgypsy |

What a fantastic place! If you have young children and you’re looking for something cheap or free, this is a great place! There is a historic carousel, a fun miniature train and great playgrounds for all ages. There are beautiful Bridges, a nice little lake with paddleboats, and some picnic structures. The sprawling park is one of the oldest in the country and one of our popular places in the city. When we went it was cold but still lots of things to see. The people who run the rides are very friendly and they are very cheap. Each ride is one ticket per person $1.50 per person. This is also a popular place for portrait photography.
There is a café that people recommended but I did not try it. I was in town with my kids for a different event and decided to take them there to get them to burn off some steam before a long drive home.
I highly recommend this place!

Historic Carosel

By Sue H |

Wonderful playground for young through preteen, handicapped swings, train, small boats, paddle boats and historic carousel. Large area for playing, picnic tables and grills. Lake for paddle boats or watching geese. Snack bar with sandwich choices but expensive. Tickets to the train, children boats and carousel only $1.00 per ticket. Definitely recommend.

Great Value at Pullen Park

By alans2016 |

Awesome experience with our two granddaughters. The boats and train are lots of fun, and the vintage carousel is absolutely amazing. We have recommended this experience to many of our friends!

Fond memories

By RaleighRuth |

Fond childhood memories of my own and with my children and now with my grandchildren. We all love the train ride and the carousel.

Great Park in Raleigh with Andy and Opie Statue - Carousel - Bird Watching and More

By Brian D |

Love this park with a great location across from NC State. Features a terrific statue of Andy and Opie, a working carousel, a train, and plenty of picnic areas. Great spot for birdwatching as well. If you enjoy nature and relaxing, don't miss out on a visit to Pullen Park. A must see for Andy Griffith fans!

So fun!

By CPMoser |

This is not your typical city park. It is a great place to go for the kids. Lots of fun playgrounds and then the additional items like the train, merry-go-round, bumper boats etc. It's a staple in Raleigh for young children amusement.

Downtown park

By Hitesh P |

Nice little park with lots of activities. The boating lake is small and ideal for little kids. Try to join in the group fitness exercises - they look like fun

A Perfect Afternoon at Pullen

By Stephanie |

A large group of us (six adults, a 10-month-old, a 14-month-old, and a 3-year-old) met at Pullen Park to get our children outside and walk through the various LuminoCity Festival displays.

It was early afternoon when we arrived, so we found a picnic shelter behind the carousel to enjoy a packed lunch. (They also have a park cafe on site that sells pizza, beverages, snacks, and other concession like food. We didn’t make a purchase, but the prices looked very reasonable.) Ample trash and recycling bins were nearby for our use.

We purchased tickets ($2 per person ages 1+) at the very small gift shop near the entrance. The train ride was a hit for all ages and lasted about 5 - 7 minutes. It takes riders along on a tour of the park's parameter. All the children rode the carousel, which requires an adult supervisor for every child under a certain height (possibly 4'). It looks to be original to the park as it was dated in the 1880s and appears to have original artwork and animal rides (horses, kats, pigs, giraffes, etc.) The ride lasts for 3 - 5 minutes and is fine, but did make a few of the stomach-sensitive adults queasy.

It took about 45 minutes to walk the park and stop to see the various LuminoCity displays. We did this in the afternoon, so there was no light display occurring. Displays include gnomes, storybook characters, animals, flowers, and dinosaurs. The displays were a great pop of color for the park prior to its spring blooms.

The highlight was the variety of playground areas enjoyed by our group's children, as well as MANY others. There is a preschool-age area, various rope climbing options, slides, swings, green space, a sand and water area, play structures, and rubber bases/padding under all equipment.

Nice

By Sherif N |

Very nice well maintained park , it has entertainments , train , looks of nice things you can with your family

The "Every Child" Park

By lalitaw2017 |

Pullen Park is a beautiful park located close to NC STATE UNIVERSITY. There is a carousel, a train, and lots of activities for children of all ages and all levels of ability. It is handicap accessible and the play areas accomodate handicapped children.

Pullen Park is a perennial favorite for kids and parents alike

By HeffRaleigh |

My wife and I have been bringing out of town guests to Pullen Park since long before it was a destination. Now, with some beautiful renovations and additional attractions, it is one of THE parks in town to bring your family to experience.

It's particularly good for the younger kids. Our friends have a 2+ year old and she absolutely enjoyed the merry-go-round, train ride, playing in the caboose, and just walking around the park.

The beautiful thing about Pullen - besides the park itself - is that you can have a blast with your family (or friends with kids which is more our speed) and not break the bank. All of the attractions are very affordable.

Go check it out and enjoy the experience!

Cute place to stop!

By Kate E |

The carousel and train were so adorable! Such a great little park, definitely a fun place to spend some time if you have some to kill.

Not that much here for adults

By A G |

This park is pretty, but not very big. I think it is only really worthwhile for small children who would enjoy the carousel and mini train. For adults, it's maybe a half-hour visit, unless you rent a paddle boat. We did. They give you half an hour, which is enough time to do two laps around the entire "lake" at a moderate pace.

Trains and boats

By Raymond W |

Honestly, any park with a rideable train is going to be a big hit with our LO, and it's probably safe to assume that's the case for any families with young children. Account for the fact that the rides are only a buck each and there's a kids boat ride that starts up as soon as you get off the train ride, and that makes this place excellent. We were actually a little concerned whether our LO would stay in the boat since only kids can ride it, but she seemed very content holding the wheel as it circled around in the water.

My only regret was that we didn't come earlier since I would have loved to rent a paddle boat, which they stopped renting the week prior.

Lots to do for everyone

By Lollie101 |

We love going to Pullen Park. They have playgrounds designed for all ages. The small rides are a treat for the little ones. We bring a picnic and can spend the day playing and exploring.

Great family park

By Lars |

Great park for kids to play. Carousel, pedal boats, etc require tickets for a reasonable price. Great place to have a picnic. There are some grills available throughout the park.

Great afternoon with our toddler!

By amy613 |

Great place to visit with a toddler! Our 2 year old loved the train and carousel, as well as the playground areas. Rides are super affordable and park is well kept and dry clean!

Pulled Park Adventures.

By Lynn C |

The playground is well laid out and divided into sections so that younger children aren’t caught up in rougher play with older children. The train ride was fun. Sadly, the carousel was closed, so we didn’t get to try that. The tulips and other flowers were glorious.

Wonderful Visit

By RuckinBrit . |

Love the train, the merry-go-round, the boats. Great way to spend an afternoon. We went and it was super hot, so were happy to find out the merry-go-round was inside!

Perfect for an visit.

By pgmcgrath |

We brought friends to a Steampunk Picnic held twice a year here. Wonderful grounds, live music in the distance..toots of the train, a carousel ride. So lovely, peaceful, and enjoyable. Many visits. Always pleased.

Family favorite

By Beaufort P |

Even though the ride prices increased, it is still a wonderful experience for the family. The carousel is gorgeous, and the train ride is loads of fun.

Beautiful Park

By uncwmel10 |

Pullen is a great place to go with children ages one to ... maybe eight or so. The train and carousel are the main attractions-for $1.50 a ride. The grounds are kept well, with beautiful flowers, etc. The only downside is the crowd. Many times, the park gets overrun with school field trips and visitors.

Great park; parking is terrible

By Suzanne E |

This is a super nice park for a picnic, or to let your kids play! But, be warned - if it's busy, parking is terrible!

Very family friendly!

By griswaldsathme |

Pullen Park is extremely well maintained and family budget friendly. Small venue is plenty for a quiet afternoon without having to plan days/weeks in advance. City is NOT trying to recreate/compete with Disneyland, etc. Clean setting with enough attractions and features to make a memorable afternoon!

Cute Little Park

By Terry H |

Visited this small urban park while visiting Raleigh. Nice place for a stroll around the lake and nice train for kids. Carousel was closed but looks classic!

Great for kids and adults!

By sjillh |

We had been to Pullen Park many times to enjoy the boats and have a picnic, but the most recent time we were there with young kids and they loved it! They were impressed with the train ride... wanted to go again and again, and they loved the playground area... made many new friends.
We also like to go and take photos in the springtime when things are in bloom. It's a fun place to relax, enjoy nature and people watch!

Pullen Park

By Anibal M |

Great any time of year for a casual stroll or walk. Tends to be fuller in the spring and summer time and most of the rides will be closed in the winter months.

Great for small children under 7

By Melinda H |

This park was shady and the playground area was varied with swings in one area, climbing and slides as well. Entry is free, ticketed events are $1.50 for each attractions. There is a beautiful carousel, train, and boat ride that are fun for young children. This is a great place for picnics and dogs are allowed. Plenty of restrooms and water fountains and snacks and light meals are available. Parking is limited but also free.

Great day at the park!

By Scott G |

Grew up going to this park and recently returned with my kids! I still love it! Playgrounds for the kids to run around and wear themselves out! The train and carousel are just how I remember and my kids loved them just as much as I did when I was their age! The grounds are nice and there were snacks and plenty of shady places to sit and eat. Just a great day at the park!

Perfect little park for families with young children! Although we did not fit that bill, we enjoyed exploring the well kept grounds and watching the old train. Train rides, paddle boats and a carousel what a treat!

For kids of all ages

By MarriedACanadian96 |

We visited Pullen Park when our kids and grandkids were here from Canada - something for everyone - the kids (late 40s) went for a run, the teenager enjoyed the history of the carousel and walking the trails, the Little’s had a blast on the boats and train and spent lots of time playing on the slides, swings and in the sand - ride tickets are cheap and most things are free - a great way to spend an afternoon

Grandson loved the train

By alex ll |

A huge park with something for everyone. Easy parking (early in the day) a great carousel that kids will love.very clean park

Adorable

By Lori L |

I love Pullen Park, it's wonderful for both families and couples alike. And it's conveniently located as well!

If you like old-time family parks with modern touches, Pluulen Park is the place to go.

By jrobson_101 |

This park boasts the usual picnic benches and rolling hills, but also has a pond where adults and children can paddle-boat at their leisure, as well as an attractive train ride which takes you around the perimeter of the premises, and, to top it off, a completely restored early 20th century carousel, which is now in an enclosure which allows young and old to enjoy in all kinds of weather. For the hungry, there is a food bar with the usual picnic goodies and drinks. Admission to the park is free. The train and carousel are $1.00 each, and there is a separate charge for the paddle boats. Al in all a great place to spend a warm Raleigh afternoon with the youngsters. Definitely bring the kids and grandkids. Also check the city Recreation Dept. for details about the Christmas in the park programs.

Lots to do here! They have a historic carousel, a small train for the kids, indoor and outdoor pools, pond with paddle boats, a large playground for the children and very large grounds are with huge old oak trees. They even have a theatre! Beautiful!

At Pullen Park

Nice park to explore, surely when all the attractions are walking it is more visited. Only the train was running, which is a small tour through the park.
There are playgrounds for children and trails for hiking.

Great Family park

This is a great place to spend a few hours either with the family or by yourself. It has a train, playground, boats, carousel, lots of shade, and picnic areas. There is also a community center behind it. Great place for an afternoon walk. Highly recommend.
