We had so much fun, my kids played in the fountain, we walked around with so much to see and learn. We took pictures and had a great day!!

Amazing job with this park, ample walkways, play ground, covered picnic table area, amazing view of Cooper river. Nice new pedestrian bridge and it looks like they aspire to add more paths

Really nice place to go and relax by the water. I love it and I think anyone who want to relax their mind should go here.

Have lunch and then walk around. It's nice and relaxing. It's a beautiful neighborhood with beautiful homes. There is a cute pineapple fountain as well

Don't miss the battery with all the canons.
Then walk along the shore toward the fountains.
Be sure to finish with the swings on the pier.
Beautiful romantic promenade. Nice for kids also.

My daughter and I walk our dog there. It has artwork, benches a playground for children and a small dog area, fenced in the back, with a few training tools. There are water bowls and bags for dog clean-up.
There are two bathrooms with water fountains for visitors. Parking is free when no organized activities are happening.

Great place to stroll, surrounded by a splendor of 19th century architecture, history, and a view of the harbor.
Even found a tennis court for my kids.

It's great for the kids big & little alike. It's a nice place for a family picture. Kids love it too & there's a Gelato place right across the street, samples galore. You can relax & see the harbour too.

The sprinklers are great for the children to cool off on a hot day! The playground is fun too. It's also nice just to walk around the park and take in all the history.

This is a very relaxing area in North Charleston. It sits on the Cooper River which one can see plenty of ships going past. There are paths that allows access to walk from one end of the park to the other. In one end of the park you can see statues and read some history of North Charleston. On the other end is an inlet which the water flows through the creek.
Chair swings are near the back end where someone can sit and relax, while looking at the water. A big field sits in middle which people play with dogs, frisbee, football, picnic, etc. There are fishing docks where people can fish or crab. The fishing is usually great.
A dog park is located in the back of the park near a playground for kids. Also, there is a covered area with picnic tables and a grill. People usually bring portable grills to cook and have a bbq. There is a bathroom here along with a water fountain.
Lastly, there are sprinklers that spray from the ground that allows kids and adults to wet. Lost of kids wear bathing suits and enjoy the water while their parents watch from the benches. Sitting next to the sprinklers is an old military house that can be rented for different events, such as weddings. It gets booked up quickly so book in advance.

I usually go there fir fishing in th he Cooper River but the park itself is also very nice. There a re w sprinklers for the kids and a nice playground. A very nice and scenic place

A little out of the way hidden memorial park for the Charleston Naval Base. There is sculptures, history, and art installations as well as a large field and playground with modern play equipment. There is a hidden bathroom IN the hill.
The bathroom is hit or miss, unsure of the cleanliness due to the stainless steel.
There is a sprinkler area for kids to play in and a great view of the river.
Everyone had a great time!

I love this park. Right on the cooper river with a nice boardwalk and open space for flying kites or throwing the ball. The playground is getting a bit ragged, and the fountain memorial needs a cleaning. It is great to drive around the park and see the beautiful old officer's housing.

We liked the walking, very clean area. We enjoyed the nice breezes off the water. Watched some angler catch a couple fish.

Don't forget to bring a change of clothes for the kids. They will end up in the walk through water fountains. A great place to cool off, watch the water and have a picnic.

It is a fun place to get rid of the heat of the day! Alot of fun, great place to sit and people watch.

We always enjoyed visiting Waterfront Park everytime we came to Charleston SC. It's fun being down at the waterfront as well as exciting. Several times we watched Carnival Cruise ships come into port. The fountains don't run everyday after Labor Day. My family and I enjoy watching the children play in the fountains in the summer months. We live here now and still enjoy walking to Waterfront Park on the weekends.

Nice view with early american historical war landmarks included; beautiful houses and shopping near by

we were here close to dusk and it provided fantastic views of Patriot's point and the Bridge. very scenic and quit.

This park is a collection of history that is displayed in a very different way. Life size statues are impressive. Story of the Navy Base and shipyard are blended into the history of the area. The dock and open park area for holiday events is great. You can fish off the pier and the creeks at the northern end.

Lovely place to walk and enjoy the breeze of the water.
It was particularly beautiful at sunset. We got some fabulous pictures.

The memorial is a tribute planned by military veterans & the City of North Charleston to all the men & women the United States & civilian who labored at the naval base for 95 years.
An open pavilion has a vertical curved wall with multiple panels about the history from its creation in 1901 to the base's 1996 closing. There are five lighted flag poles that feature flags of the Unites States, South Carolina, U.S. Navy, North Charleston & the U.S. Marine Corps.
On the southern end is a curved open memorial made of photographs -one large photo with several smaller photos that combine for the larger's time period. From the left are 1901-1914 Before WW 1, 1914-1918 WW 1, 1918-1939 Between The Wars, 1939-1945 WW 11, & 1945-1974 The Cold War. Just a short walk are three metal model ships- The Destroyer-Gray Hounds Of The Fleet, The Landing Craft-The Gator Navy and The 41 For Freedom-Navy's Nuclear Submarines.
Two statues homer the navy. The 'Homecoming-the Father, Mother & son, in a tight family embrace and the Lone Sailor- waiting to be shipped put.
A water fountain with six steams of water shooting upward for children to play under or run through. . I watched young lad -5-6-run back & forth in the rain while his mother looked on smiling.
The memorial is located next to the River Front Park. Parking is about 200 yards away. . The Charleston River faces the memorial. A walkway of cement or sand/gravel goes from the southern end to the north. If wet take the cement path. The memorial should take 30 minutes at most. I was rained out twice for a total time of about one hour. This time included photographing all the memorial. Not far from the curved wall are restrooms.
I was not disappointed , however photos one web site gave the impression of being longer in length & more naval items to view. I visit is still highly recommended, only on a dry day.I think any military veteran of any U.S. branch would enjoy a visit, no matter the memorial's size. I was the only visitor each time.

This place was magnificent. We walked along the river for a bit, played in the park, took pictures in the trees, enjoyed seeing cannons, beautiful landscapes, and then walked along downtown, shopping and seeing houses built over 200 years ago. It was a trip I will never forget. The downtown trip was awefilled.

There is a sculpture there with disembodied doll heads in it. Kinda creeped me out. The park was almost empty because it was cold out. There is a long walkway to travel that has several sculptures. Maybe I'm just not well-versed in modern art, but that sculpture was just beyond weird to me.

I’ve been living close by for 14 years and did not know this delightful place was here! Peaceful paths to walk, calming waters, local artisans creations, highly recommend.

Riverfront Park offers beautiful views, plenty of places to walk, and no shortage of picnic spots. This is one of our go-to places when we have visitors in town. There is plenty of parking, but be prepared to walk a bit after you park.

Fuimos a conocer este parque en familia y con amigos, pasamos excelente día donde llevamos comida compartimos y el niño jugó pelota y en un parque de niños que está hay... adicionalmente vimos un poco de historia sobre la marina y memorias de héroes de la marina
We went to see this park with family and friends, we had an excellent day where we shared food and the child played soccer for a while and in a children's park there is ... additionally we saw a little history about the navy and memories of heroes of the Marine

The city of North Charleston maintains this park well on the old Charleston Navy Base, not to be confused with the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek/Hannahan. If you arrive at a Security check point, you are at the wrong place. Noisette Point is the place, you have to drive past some of the old navy buildings and then follow the small signs to the park. Security here is minimal, although North Charleston PD is supposed to patrol here. Dogs are allowed on leash and there is even a dog park. Fishing is allowed with a SC DNR freshwater license. There are public restrooms, you may need to bring wipes or some toilet paper. There is art work and sculptures. it's really a nice place. It's actually a quite place to go and walk around. There are play sets and gyms for children, and the place is bike friendly. I would not roller skate or skateboard there. There are no vending or concessions, so bring your own food and water. The H. L. Hunley lab is nearby with tours on Saturday and Sunday only at the Warren Lasch Conservatory, there is a ticket to purchase there. For the park only there is no admittance charge or parking fee. The surrounding neighborhoods are high crime areas, so please be careful driving along these areas. I will be honest, I don't consider it secure enough to visit at night unless a special event is going on. The safety lighting could be better.

Love to take a stroll next to the sites and sounds of Charleston. Best olace to take a walk after any meal or just to find peace.

this is nice venue for concerts and events; there is a large grassy area, a playground, beautiful river view

Nice park to take a stroll in. It has a couple of nice walkways that can give you a nice view up and down the river and makes for good pictures. There's also a nice memorial to the Naval Yard that used to exist in the area. It does have nice playground and some nice paths for walking, running, or biking.

I love the water and this is a great place to just hang out, whether alone or with family or friends.

Fountains, statuary, seating, in the park; near the pier, along with shopping, restaurants, and glorious historical homes right there!

Riverfront Park is a nice remembrance to walk through. The streets of the Old Navy Yard and Quarters H&I are a sight to see, especially in early April when the flowers are blooming. Stroll on foot and bring your camera. The Olmstead Brothers planned the absolutely unbelievable landscape architecture here, as they also should be thanked for The Biltmore and Central Park NYC's landscape planning. Also: Army Wives was filmed here.
GPS parking address: 96-98 Navy Way, N. Charleston, SC

I have always enjoyed this placed. It has been a favorite pass-time for the entire family. Though I live in Miramar, Fl now, I always reminisce on this park and the memories it made.

Beautifully maintained park by the river where I walk to just to escape the hustle and bustle of life. Unless there is some event going on the park is large enough to allow peace and quiet away from the maddening crowd. Can even do a little fishing if you want. Even when there are events it is big enough to make the crowds not seem so confining as some othe venues in town. Can be quite cold and windy during the winter months but beats Buffalo.

Nice spot, except there is construction going on,and you have to work your way around it. The houses in the area are waay cool, and the people are all friendly.

This was a very nice place to visit. The memorials of the Navy being there were nice. It was a fairly big park, quiet and pretty. It had nice sculptures and it was just a nice enjoyable walk along the river as well.

A nice surprise in the city. We strolled around this park and enjoyed the views. Parking was easy to find.

Riverfront Park where fun, music and history comes together.
Have you ever wanted to know the complete history of the North Charleston Naval Yard? You can learn everything you want to know there.
Do you love music festivals? This is becoming a pivotal place for great music festivals including the recent High Water Festival and bands like O.A.R. and Lee Brice.
Do you like the Earth? There is an Earth Day festival annually.
Do you like summer evening concerts? We have those.
Do you like to picnic or just watch boats go by? Its there.
Do you like a place where there is plenty of parking? You bet.
Do you like sculpture gardens? You guessed it, they have one.
Have we convinced you yet to head over. I hope so. Fun park.

nice-to-walk-in-this-place-where-you-can-read-the-history-of-the-shipyard-from-1901-to-1996-his-disclosure.To-spend-2-hours

This park seemed to be unnoticed by others. It was a nice place to have a picnic and walk along the waterfront. There was some interesting sculptures and a little navy memorial that was interesting to see. Just wear bug spray if you're going in the summer!

- Dedicated to the naval history of the Charleston area ... Plaques, statues, info and pictures
- Fishing pier also allows observation of nature, river activities, and shoreline maritime activities ... Bring binoculars
- Some all weather seating available ... Wouldn't hurt to bring your own if desired
- Walking paths are paved and or graveled
- Renovation and reconstruction in progress in some parts of the park ... Making it better!

I have been here a few times but recently attended the Charleston Beer Fest here. It was outstanding. Beautiful scenery to go along with a great festival. Parking was a few blocks away but a very easy walk to the park.

We came upon this park somewhat by accident. We were heading to the Charleston Airport and needed to "kill" some time so I went through a list of places on my Garmin GPS and found this park. Located on a piece of land that had been occupied by a Naval base until 1995, this park has been developed by the City of North Charleston into a park and memorial to Navy Veterans. In addition to the several memorials the park has several nice sculptures on display and a nice view of the Cooper River.

I served in the U. S. Navy in Charleston. I lived there three times. Four years ago my son brought us to Riverfront Park. It is located where the old Naval Base Charleston Officer housing was located. The waterfront has at least 2000 yards of pristine waterfront land. The beautiful views are uninterrupted. There is a large bronze statue of a Navy Sailor with his sea bag. At the end of June 2016, we took our two young grand sons and they played in the water jet fountain area. The playground area is at the opposite end of the park. For such a beautiful park the parking is limited. They have a stage area that backs up to the waterfront. I was told that when there is music or a festival that parking is allowed in the grass area. The City of Charleston has really done a nice job of providing the public with such a picturesque venue.

This is a very nice park in north Charleston with a pier and plenty of grassy areas. Their's a park for kids, and a dog park!! 4 bathrooms and parking. No concession stands or vending machines however. Very safe lots of cameras and on duty security. I tried crabbing here and it's not a good spot, AT ALL!

Yes please in Charleston Or the greater Charleston area to walk your dog let him runoff leash if they’re able to without acting crazy.Nice breeze from the river! Boardwalks along & over the marsh, #2 piers, cool playground lots of coveted picnic space & bench swings for couples. And THE VIEWS
This is me and my dog Lucy’s favorite place. I can wear her out Fast. She likes it when it rains and the grass is soggy & slops it up! Even better... this place is never that crowded & People walk the outside perimeter, fish on piers AND I hardly see anybody with dogs out here. There must be about a 200 X 50 yards of freshly cut grass in the middle That the dog can run crazy and he can play ball and throw frisbee, etc. I like to go around 4:20.
Love going to the beaches but this place has a lot of perks. No sand, lots of spacious, green grass, views & breeze. It’s a killer place And surprise not a lot of people out there when I go. Check out all the LOCAL shops, cafés, bars, breweries. GOOD PEEPS😀

It is located on the river. You can take the ferry which can take to Navy area where you can see various old navy planes, military adventures, Appollo 8, I like Pineapple water fountain, walking trails, flowers. The very good place to spend time with the couple, or family. You do the picnic. very good for fishing. If you are lucky, you may see Dolphines

i had no idea this place was here, or that such an oasis of tranquility could exsist in north charleston. its not very big, but it is a welcome green space in a city that seems to be expanding by the day

Wonderful children's playground. Very touching and informative tribute. Interesting art. Beautiful views of river and ship yard. Second visit there and will definitely visit again.

We, the family, go for a walk here once every 3-4 months. Beautiful views of the river. Also a Navy Base Memorial and art sculptures. Plus a dog park!

This park has user friendly walking areas, covered bench swings overlooking the river, a pretty fountain, and a playground for the kids with baseball field. You have a clear view of the Ashley River and the aircraft carrier moored on opposite river bank. Very relaxing....

We walked along the riverfront, took pictures and video of the river, the park and those beautiful houses. The area is nice and serene even with all the tourists walking around.

My family enjoyed this park on a cool breezy Sunday! Beautiful views and tons of history to explore! It is always nice doing something the kids enjoy for free!

I am just finishing the TV show army wives. I figured since we were in Charleston i would try to find some of the set. I found 3 of the of the house & main office here. The park behind was an added bonus since my husband is a military buff.

We visited just a few days after Hurricane Irma's winds. Few trees completely blown down along with other limbs and debris. Many workers were cleaning up the park. Even with the damage we could see the park's attractiveness. We will return next year.

We really enjoyed our time there by the water. Watching to birds while look at the ships and feeling the winds off the water..

Enjoyed just walking along the water, admiring the beautiful architecture and eating at some very good restaurants.

This is a great place to visit and just watch the sites on the Cooper River. The city has done a great job of making this a clean and comfortable place to visit and relax.

you can not beat a nice walk on the Riverfront in N. Charleston. the architecture of the buildings, and the water all make for an enjoyable stroll

We had time to kill before our fligh, didn’t want to just sit at the airport. It’s a very nice park along the river. Very peaceful. Nice walking areas if there isn’t an event going on at the time.

My family and I went to 2 amazing concerts over the summer and the sound was better than I expected. It's a great park with great views and I hope more bands play next year.

A great place to go to see the water and the Charleston Harbor and get a feel for the city. Parking is difficult in many cases so plan on that when considering this destination. Wide open spaces for kids to run around and play. Grassy areas as well as some open space. On the pier there are some swings but the doc is not accessible by boat from the water.

We weren't able to walk very far the day that we went because of repairs on the boardwalk and other areas of the park. It's a former navy base, so there were statues and a memorial wall. There were some nice views of the Cooper River.

This park is an obvious wide open, well groomed, secure experience for the whole family. I believe, owned and maintained by the City of N. Charleston it is part of what was once the Naval Base but today provides rolling acres of open spaces for walks, frisbee, picnics, jogs, and other activities. There is even a small dog park. It is bordered by the Cooper River and Noisette Creek and there is a dock with which you can fish. You can bank fish in other areas. The City puts on it's 4th of July Festival here and has musical events as well. You owe it to yourself if you haven't been to go out and take a leisurely stroll. Most of your neighbors are.

love walking around and enjoying the sounds, smell and the view of the riverfront. Kids love this place

Had a great time at water front park. Sat on the swings, took pictures by the pineapple. It was really breezy on Saturday. Had a great time with the grandsons.

A lovely park for the whole family to enjoy, on warm days the kids can play in the sprinkler, there are piers for fishing, a lovely walkway along the water, a playground and some interesting pieces of art around the park to look at.

A large, well maintained riverside park with oversize modern sculptures, walking paths, views of the water, and memorial sculptures and timelines with historical information of North Charleston's connection to the US Navy. It's educational and a pleasant spot with open spaces and paved walking paths.

Explored the area of the former Navy Base and came across the park. It is tastefully laid out and pays homage to the Navy activities and personnel who were stationed there. There are several information signs around the park. The history of the park goes back to WWI. It is well worth the visit. Also in the area are several Navy buildings are being renovated for historical purposes?

A beautiful place for couples to take s stroll. I participated in American Cancer Society "Making Stides " Walk that was held in October 27 2018

Very nice place really enjoyed it.There are different thing in the park with great information about things in the parkmthere are also some old beautiful houses. I really enjoyed the park!

My family and I enjoyed this wonderful park while staying in North Charleston for one night. I didn't go in expecting much but it was actually one of the highlights of my trip before getting to the historic district. This is a nice park to visit out of the hubhub of the touristy district. I enjoyed reading about the history of the Naval base which had been closed down along with enjoying the views of the River and looking at the art sculptures. There was also a swing and a few chairs to relax in as well as a splash fountain for young children.
Note: This park is not in the historic district with the pineapple fountain as some other reviews have stated; there are reviews which have confused this park with Riley Waterfront Park in the Historic District.

Free good place to go with your kids. Great view of city and river, boats etc. Close to shopping, mansions parking is pretty easy. Get map where restrooms are in the city.

I enjoy the walk and water fountain. There is an area for dogs and large open field for family fun. My niece had a baby shower in the picnic area. The one thing I did not enjoy is the mosquitoes.

Enjoyed walking around the historical area - particularly liked the locals making the baskets. Everyone as friendly as they could be. Even went back a second time.

My husband and I enjoyed visiting here. The view was amazing and very relaxing. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Charleston.

Able to sit quietly and enjoy the view of the Cooper River and the ships and boats passing by. A park for all ages. Also has a tribute to veterans and especially sailors. It is a great place to walk and take in the beautiful scenery.

My company had an event at this park last year . . . it was the 1st time I had ever visited the park. It was really beautiful! Lots of families there with their kids playing on the swings and running around. They also have some nice adult swings set up by the river so that you can enjoy the sunset and watch the ships cruise by. Nice, clean park for family events too.

Brought my Mother here to see what was left of the Charleston Navy Yard where she was stationed in WWII. Very nice Memorial to all who served during the Navy Yard's long history. Had a nice conversation with a Vietnam Era Vet who directed us to buildings still standing in the area that were part of the Naval Hospital in WWII and we even found the old house which was off the base where my parents lived when not in the barracks. Nicely laid out Memorial that meanders along the Ashley River. Accessible for wheel chairs or other mobility devices. Beautiful views back toward Charleston of Navy Ships (Including hospital ship Comfort) anchored nearby.
There is NO choice for rating this as a "Family Visit" except with young children or teens. I will check "teens" because that's what my Mom was when she was stationed her in 1944. :-)

After we had walked all of the city market we hung a right turn and found a long shaded walkway. It had been very hot that day and the shade provided us with some relief until the end.

I have heard about this park located on the old Navy base in North Charleston, but never visited until now. As you stroll along the river walk, there are many interesting things to observe. There is historical information to read about the Navy's impact in Charleston. The family friendly park has a lighted fountain where kids can play. Nice place to spend a relaxing evening.

Great walk while enjoying the charismatic views of waterside at Charleston. It has some interesting historical landmarks to help visitors understand the history of the place.

This is a beautiful waterfront park, good for family outings. Great for picnics. Children love the playground.

A diversion for our grandson while visiting downtown, he enjoyed the walk along the water and pier and then back past the fountain.

A walk will be through the trees, by picnic tables & benches with occasional works of art. Overall I could have bypassed a visit, as I was more interested in the Greater Charleston Naval Memorial. The park just wasn't my cup of tea.The park would be an excellent place for walking the dog-saw three couples walking their dog, was a Sunday afternoon-or a possibly a jog. There is a dock for fishing, grills for a picnic, a fountain for kids run back & forth under to cool off. Also a restroom just a short walk from the fountain.
I still recommend a visit. Parking is probably 100 yards away.

This is a nice walking park with fountains and a great view. Flat, easy walk. It doesn't have restrooms

Absolutely fantastic place to see a concert! I have been to many, many concert venues and this is by far the best! My family traveled down to NMB to see O.A.R. (with Stoplight Observations and The Hunts opening). The river is a wonderful back drop to the concert stage. Before entering the concert area we did walk around and look at some of the sights. We will definitely be back! Worth the 2+ hour trip from the beach.

A very nice park with an area dedicated to the Charleston Naval Shipyard and its part in servicing the navy ships for over 100 years.

If you are looking for a quiet place on a the beautiful Cooper River, then this is the place for you!! I happen to work adjacent to it and walk in the park everyday for lunch. There are two piers for fishing and SELDOM is anyone at either of them. There is a playground for small children, benches under the oaks and a little water park with fountains that you can get it. Great place to avoid the crowds of Mt P and downtown Charleston.

Beautifully clean and thoughtfully landscaped park for a pleasant stroll and view of the river and boats. Parking seemed limited to a rare metered spot on narrow streets or paid lots. It cost us $14 for a few hours.

Nicely landscaped and a clean park. Pleasant views of the riverfront and locals fishing off of the pier.

Quiet and peaceful setting beautiful statues, nice river front swings, In between historic and active shipyards

If you are a person that enjoys scenic waterfront views then I highly recommend taking a scroll along the gorgeous broadwalk pier for stunning views of the Cooper River. You can even sit in swings that are adjacent to the river and watch the views under the sunset.

Great for children and adults to see concerts and history on the old Navy Yard! All types of events through the year .

This area that is now a local park was once high ranking Naval officer quarters right on the river. Now it features sculptures by local artists, a historical review of the Charleston Navy base (gone for years now), wooden walks right along the water, an open air performance venue, a fenced off-leash dog area, a fishing pier and a splash area for kids of all ages. Watch Pelicans diving for food, enjoy the breezes off the river that make this a popular place even on the hottest days. Coming soon, an upscale restaurant.
We go very often.

Walked and Gawked ..... very nice area lots to look at. We enjoyed everything we did in Charleston. What a nice City

The park is nice and running the bridge is great. If you are into exercising, this is a good place to do it.

I love visiting waterfront park because you can do so many things there! There's all the historical Sailor Statues, to all the Armed Services Flags flying brightly, to water features for the kids and playgrounds as well. You can fish, crab, really, whatever you want to do, legally, you can do it here.

This park is situated right on the waterfront. You get to see boats coming and going all day. The park is clean with picnic areas, playgrounds, walking path and lots of green grass to take in the sun. Also this park hosts many great free concerts. I am going to one today call the Latin Fusion Jazz concert. This is a wonderful addition to North Charleston and a great way for families to spend a Sunday afternoon together.

We intended on having our wedding vows at this park, but it rained that day. Luckily the skies cleared up long enough to get some AMAZING photos. Totally worth checking out if you're in the area.

Riverfront Park is a beautiful place! During our visit to Charleston, we visited the park for their July 4th celebration and it was wonderful. The view is just breathtaking! I would recommend anyone visiting Charleston to definitely make this one of their stops.

What's your pleasure.....
Flying a kite
Reading a book
family time
What about long walks with that special someone
Great photo opportunities
And a whole lot more.
It's all there at Charleston's River front park.
Just 8 miles from beautiful historical Charleston, 20 miles from Summerville, and just 2 hours from Hilton Head Sc.
Riverfront park is a great place to get away and spend some good quality time. There is walking trails, lush and beautiful landscape, biking trails, padded play grounds and swings, fishing piers and more. Yes, there's more...
Great historical arts, and houses, picnic tables(covered and open) , restrooms, open areas for relaxing or playing ball with the kids. Walking brides with great views of the Don Holt bridge, passing tug boats and many different ships just off to the right.
In the summer time, bring the kids to the open fountain to play and get wet while you sit and enjoy the great views of the Cooper River.
If you have never been, be sure to bring a camera. There's plenty of photo opportunities. You will find they are basicly endless. And it's a great place for special events, like weddings, parties, engagements & More.
Trail after trail leads you through great gardens and beautiful moss trees.
Wanting even more? There's even a amphitheater for occasional shows and concerts. The River front park is truly one of the hidden treasures in the Charleston area, and I think a must see on your next stop in the area. Our family can't wait to get back.
Hope you enjoyed this review, if it was a help to you please feel free to let me know. Or if you have some general questions, feel free to ask. And by all means, take a look at the pictures I have included.
Take care, God bless, and enjoy.

When I can't go hiking to take pictures, this is where I go. Plenty of subjects for pictures and lots of space so you won't get many people in the background.
Great place to walk, jog and do yoga. Also a good place to fish and walk your dog.
Landscaping is tight and the entire area is clean. There are public restrooms too.
There are sculptures displayed all year long. I am not sure when they change them but it has changed twice since I lived in Charleston.
Great place to go and relax

Extremely beautiful, was here with family for a while. Enjoyed a lot. Water really clear and gorgeous.

Riverfront Park in North Charleston is one of my favorite parks in the Charleston area. I can remember when this was a golf course on the former Navy base and I like that they kept all of the open green space in its current form as a park for all to be able to enjoy as just a day in the park or as an event space for an event or concert venue. This park is well maintained and is fun to walk or run around for some fresh air. This park has wonderful views of the river and water and has plenty of cool art pieces, gardens, markers, and other displays that add to the experience of the park. This park has it all and on a non event day there is plenty of parking to be able to enjoy everything. This park is awesome.

Riverfront park is beautiful. Great sites to see in Charleston and this is definitely one of them. Great place for families as well.

Riverfront Park
North Charleston
Nice place in Riverfront - worth visiting - Scenic beautiful
Excellent place-this is how they state Charleston is one of the beautiful cities in the world
Visit the Riverfront Park ...which is North Charleston, SC

I would definitely support this as a top site to visit in Charleston. The park is lovely and the views of the harbor and the bridge are even better.

There isn't really much to do at Riverfront Park but I enjoy going there. It's a great way to spend an hour or two along the Cooper River. Located at a now defunct naval base, there's a lot of green space and a wonderful venue for concerts. During the summer even on the hottest days concerts I've seen there are completely comfortable with breezes that keep the heat and humidity at bay. If you enjoy the water as I do you'll enjoy amazing views, the paper mill (sadly), commercial and private shipping sailing by, and some real natural beauty. The plan is to market this location to keep more events happening in the future, and I plan to attend every one I can.

Found out about the park through a neighbor and decided to check it out on a Sunday and were glad we did. The city has done a great job with the revamp and the portion of the site dedicated to the Base is very tastefully done. There is a timeline etched on the memorial with a very detailed description of the history of the base and the surrounding area. The parks facilities are well maintained and clean. A playground and picnic tables are an added bonus for those with children. The walkway along the Cooper river is also a nice touch. A worthwhile and recommended trip !!

We got married at this park in March 2014. It is a nice bike ride or long walk from the Park Circle neighborhood. However there are no bike lanes or side walks. We have walked Cheyenne to this park many times, but beware that the mosquitoes are terrible in this area and the neighborhood. The last time we walked/ ran like crazy people, because the mosquitoes were swarming us, was September 2015. But if you take the mosquitoes out, the park is pretty with a Navy memorial area, outdoor art displays, fishing piers, an amphitheater, public restrooms, several bench swings looking out at the river, a splash area for the kids, picnic tables, and a modest dog park. The city has provided several free music concerts here, and it is the home for the Fourth of July festival/fireworks for North Charleston. In addition there are no dog water fountains with fresh running water, so we always bring Cheyenne's collapsible bowl.

Saw Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, Zion I and Eli at the Riverfront Park in July, they appreciated the beauty of the venue and played an amazing show! Such an awesome venue for music, especially reggae! We just arrived from NC and were very hungry and thirsty and there were 5 or 6 local food trucks to eat from! We ended up going with seafood because there is no better place to get fresh fish than at the coast. Got the flounder tacos from Roadside Seafood and it was fresh, delish and filling! There is a realllllly nice spot to eat by the river next to the board walk where there are two picnic tables where you can still hear the music. The beer selection was pretty good and somewhat affordable. This is an awesome outside venue with lots of space and beautiful scenery. The sound quality of the show was alright, it was a little hard to hear the vocals from all the bands. There were a ton of people that pulled up in their own boats to hear the music from the river, lol if I could afford it I would rent a boat and see shows all the time. This spacious venue has lovely views of the river and lovely art throughout. Would definitely recommend visiting this park even if there is no concert going on.

After you go through the old navy yard or (on the other side) an unsavory neighborhood, you'll realize that it was worth it. There is a great park for little kids and lots of green grass to run on. It is a wonderful venue to see a concert. The view is one of THE BEST that Charleston has to offer. Check out the memorial. I recommend this park to anyone that loves being outdoors!

We love to go to the Riverfront Park just to walk around, eat lunch or to take pictures. Attented the Fourth of July show there recently and they had the best display I have seen.

good for the children. you can fish off the pier.
my son came and picked me up and took me fishing off the pier. we caught several fish. this was a great day I got to spend a wonderful day with my son who I don't get to see to often. I cooked a wonderful meal for us from our catch that day. JUST WONDERFUL!!!!
The park is beautiful. I would recommend this park to all.

I am new to the area and was looking for a nice new park to visit. The park is hidden behind a shipyard and does not seem safe at first glance. Was told the city holds 4th of July events there but is not confirmed..one visit was enough

Beautiful view. Way off the beaten path. I love to go here on a cool Fall or Spring day for a picnic. Usually very quiet and peaceful.

the visit was peaceful, and very serene. the was a very nice breeze rolling off of the water. i got to see the ship come in

Although I grew up 45 mins away, this was my first visit to Charleston. The breeze from the water was so great while we waited to be called for dinner. This is definitely romantic.

Nice to visit or to go on a short walk. A little more fun if there is a scheduled event here. If we lived closer we would most likely visit more often.

I love this place! It's SO peaceful, especially in the spring when it's nice and warm but got a cool breeze :) Must visit!!

One of the things to do in the area. Add it to the list of walking around Charleston and seeing everything.

Nice walkways leading to the main fountain where on any given weekend you will find bridesmaids and wedding parties taking pictures. Pier area with views out to Fort Sumter and beyond. I'd recommend stopping by if you are in Charleston.

Went here for Trondossa music festival. Great views, really cool venue for music. Hopefully place did not get too trashed.

This park is situated in such an ideal location.
The views of the water are picturesque!
Just minutes from the growing park circle area that has great food and drinks and neat mural art scene, this park is wonderful find in Charleston!

Very peaceful experience. Enjoyed walking with my new husband and enjoying the water and peaceful sites. Definitely will be visiting again very soon.

Great place to unwind and enjoy the Cooper River. Alway plenty of parking even for events. Nice dog run area.

This is a nice place to relax and look around. They have boardwalks to walk around. It was low tide so we saw a lot of the mini crabs. Nice statues . It was a bit stinky due to low tide but I'm not taking off for that it's not the parks fault. Beautiful scenery. You can see ships from here.

Very pretty and scenic - dogs loved it! Loved the sculptures and memorials - wish we would have gone before the last day of our stay.

Great place to walk and talk. The city of North Charleston has done a great job. Fun for the family and great place to talk business.

Itook my dogs to Water Front park to enjoy the beautiful weather and the water front. Everyone went home happy the swings were nice too.

I was really impressed by Charleston's efforts to revamp the old Navy base. The park is gorgeous and the memorial to the Navy and to the former work of the site was truly special. I very much recommend visiting this park.

We walked around Charleston quite a bit and this was nice place to sit down and rest. Good view of the USS Yorktowne from the walkway and this is where you catch the ferry over. Park is lovely with nice shade trees and a pineapple fountain. Very friendly squirrels who will mob you if you have snacks. Next to the Fleet Landing Restaurant which seemed quite popular. Trolley stops here.

This park is on the water with access to a very nice park and dock. Its a nice tribute to the men and women who served our country and well maintained. The Panama houses brought back memories and were well maintained. Enjoyed the walking trail too.

Wonderful park off the beaten trail. has a big walking trail, 2 small piers to watch ships go by, go crabbing or fishing. Big open areas for kids to run. Nice stage for summer events, has a sprinkler area for kids to cool off, as well as some art and a sailors memorial area. Lots of bathrooms in the park.

Loved the fountain. Being on the waterfront was very peaceful. The shaded park was a beautiful retreat.

Great park to spend the day outside with the family. Huge open space for picnics, games, and flying kites. Large playground for the little kids and a splashpad. Walkways out over the water perfect for a stroll or some fishing. Beautiful monument and fountain honoring the ships and the men that served. Large Ampitheatre as well where special events are held throughout the year. Overall perfect for a day outdoors, bring bug spray though as the mosquitoes can be pretty bad in the evenings and when it's wet outside.

Great place for kids to play in the water fountains and for families to show respect to our military. Very nice memorial with statues, pictures on wall, play areas for kids.

Great evening activity! We strolled along the riverfront as the sun set and the temperatures had cooled down and it was beautiful.

Visited with my family on vacation. This place is so beautiful ! The views are magnificent and we saw numerous dolphins too. Of course a picture with the fountains is a must . Don't miss a walk here !

This is a scenic and serene place to walk or just sit and take in the beauty around you.
A nice sunset or sunrise view as well

We thoroughly enjoyed the 4 the of July activities! The children enjoyed all of the free activities and the sprinkler pad. We learned a little about history while we were there. The fire works display was the best ever and lasted a pretty long time. We will definitely be returning next year!

I liked the stroll, easy access to stores selling food and ice cream, great view of the Cargo ships moving up and down the river.

In 1996, the Charleston Navy Yard was decommissioned, putting more than 25,000 people out of work and signaling dire days for this wonderful city. Charleston has recovered and thrived and this park is a memorial to this former Navy Yard.
My wife had a conference on the last Sunday in October so, wanting to see the sights, I took the bus down the Cooper River. My main objective was to see the H.L. Hunley and I wasn't disappointed. After spending some time there, I ventured out and was able to explore the remains of the Navy Base and Shipyards. There are many buildings here that are over 100 years old and are magnificent. I was quite entranced with this old ghost town.
On the far side of the shipyard is Riverfront Park. There are big festivals and events held here and it really is a wonderful setting, among the huge oaks, Noisette Creek and the Cooper River. There are many art installations and statues to admire, telling the story of the Charleston Navy Yard and those that worked there. Quite impressive is the lone sailor, looking out over the river. The entire park is a beautiful memorial to sailors everywhere, the Navy and Charleston.
Though I walked here, it's easy to find if you're driving. Plus, there's ample parking.
Bring the kids and a picnic basket and relax. It really was a nice afternoon, just wandering along the river.

Nothing to dislike - pretty location and a nice place for a walk along the waterfront when you have time

I recently visited Charleston for a vacation and I heard about the park. I brought back a lot of memories because I was stationed at Charleston Naval Base. I was on one the ships to leave and it was nice that the city built this park to honor the men and women who served.

Went to watch the fireworks, Can't say enough good about to park the people helping the food vendors. Very positive experience here, thank you city of Charleston.

It was very hot so the drive around in a car with a/c was great. Also had a tour which was interesting.

Nice gift shop with helpful employees. Great restrooms. Wheelchair accessible. Quiet. Great view of the area. Love the swings.

This is a beautiful park. With all the beauty and bustle of downtown Historical Charleston, this is a great place to just stroll and take a break. Don't miss it

Relaxing place to rome about and very well kept, fountains were pretty, gardens and historic area all a nice walking and bay watching area.

perfect place for an family adventure. Views are stunning. Loaded with history. My family and I will def be back

This park is OK. It is off the water front so some areas have a dirty stinky water smell to it but it nice to stroll along if you want to walk or jog. The grass is not well kept and could use some fertilizing. It is a historical area so I guess that is what all the Hub-Bub is about. I am happy to see that people clean up after their dogs so that is not a problem.

North Charleston keeps adding to this park on the water. Plenty of parking and room for everything, Fishing, Dog Walking or Picnics.

The park was well kept and everyone enjoyed the scenery, houses, statues and Naval Base Memorial. Very nice place to visit.

This is a must see while in Charleston. My family simply love our time here and we plan to return here on our next visit to this great southern city.

It is an old naval shipyard in the North Charleston area. Many locals worked there for years before it was closed. A brief informative history using plaques, statues, and pictures help to envision the past. Fishing piers, swings, benches, chairs, shelter and a playground make it a great family place to go for hours. The ships sailing by(if you are lucky) and the breeze off the river definitely makes your day. This is our favorite walking spot. The park is very well maintained and clean. Very quiet and serene. But, there are times when there are great activities at the park and we love those times also. it is a place for all. A writer, a pastor writing a sermon, someone wanting to be alone or someone meditating..

The park is set up with navy statues, overlooking the water and 526. This place is very peaceful. We went to fly kites and walk around. Play ground for the kids to play on. Walking trails.

Nice view of the bridge and water. If you take a ferry then you can get a great view of the city with historical buildings and river front park. We also spotted dolphins from the park.

Lot's of great views of harbor in an historic setting. Plenty of benches. If there were any public restrooms I didn't see them.

Riverfront Park is a contrast to Waterfront Park. Riverfront is isolated from major roads but has substantial free parking and extensive grounds. This is part of former navy base. It has some exhibits including statues of sailors, three different ships with history to the base and a history of the base. We visited after dark but it was well lit and families were enjoying the grounds. Saw a fox in the parking lot.Great views of the bridge and river. Does not have a pineapple fountain but has a fountain. Another way to escape the crowd and enjoy a simple, free pleasure.

This is the best concert venue in Charleston to view by boat ! You can go on land also it is beautiful never gets too hot always enough parking. They have so many wonderful events here and it is such a great place to take your kids to play in a wide open space near the water.

Peaceful, quiet and clean. A must-visit for those in the Charleston area! It is a great place to sit outdoors along the water. There are wide bench swings, benches, and the rail.

Pretty water view but not much shade. Great for sunbathing. Interesting modern art sculptures. Hosts community events.

My wife and I attended a wedding reception in the park. We enjoyed the walk over from the 1942 Eternal Father of the Sea Chapel where the wedding was held. I was able to walk around the park a bit and it is quite beautiful. Many families were enjoying themselves that Saturday afternoon.

Everything is good in this park. Close to all the restaurants. Everyone had a place to sit in the benches.

Beautiful place !! Very nice walk and a lot of history . My teenagers loved it!! We enjoyed the views of the river as well as the memorials. A definite must see .

Nice area to walk and see the sights! Very safe area. So many trees and nice picnic area under them.

Those interested in history of the naval yards must see.
Not to be confused with Waterfront park as previously posted. There are no nearby restaurants or shops. Bring a picnic if you plan to stay awhile. We had a rainy day so our stay was brief.

A nice addition to the City of North Charleston, SC. It's a little bit out of the way and the signage pointing the way needs improvement, but once you get there it is a peaceful, serene environment. Right on the Cooper River, with a fishing pier. It could use some more picnic tables and seating areas, but it was not a problem as the place is way underutilized. Maybe it hasn't been discovered by enough people yet and maybe it is not advertised enough by the city of North Charleston. Nice place to bring the kids for frolicking under the fountain, fishing, a picnic, or just relaxing.

This is just a relaxing location to kick back or take a stroll. Not overcrowded, nice views, easy parking.

This is one of those places you can go and not have to worry about money. It's a relaxing place, to just sit or have a picnic with the family or that special friend.

It's amazing for a park that is so large to be mostly unknown in the area. It's a great park with a picnic shelter, fenced dog area, sprinklers in the summertime for the kids, and a long boardwalk on the river. If you are looking for a less hectic area to play and be outside that's similar to Riverfront park in downtown Charleston, it's worth checking out.

We visited this park for a 4th of July event. It is really a large park, beautiful view along the waterfront.

Can't go to charlestón without visiting this beautiful riverfront packed with people and activities, make sure you take your sunglasses, plenty of water and comfortable shoes for a stroll through the grounds. Very relaxing athomsfere

Went there for Christmas vacation. Walked along the water admiring those 10+ mil mansions. Gorgeous view!

This was our 2nd year attending the festival and it was awesome! Lots of things going on for everyone (live stage performers all evening, bouncy houses & games for the kids including a huge chalk writing project). Plenty of vendors and port-a-johns in designated areas. We didn't have any problems parking nor setting up our chairs once we were on site. Everyone was having a great time. I highly recommend for a family outing or just some summer fun!

Nice but over rated and very crowded ...parking in the area is awful, hard to come by and expensive.

it was just a romantic was on the pier, the area was wide open for privacy as a couple and close in enough to enjoy the entertainment and vendor

Riverfront Park is an unexpected gem in the midst of a (former) industrial area. There are boardwalks out on the water, a splash pad area for kids, a great playground, lots of interesting sculptures and art, and a lot more. We really enjoy going there, whether for an event like a concert, or to play.

Peaceful, relaxing, and a great place to spend a couple of hours. If you enjoy water views and being outdoors I highly recommend visiting Riverfront Park.

The Park has some breathtaking views of some of SC beautiful marshes and river. Located in the historic Naval Shipyard, it just cries out pride and patriotism.

This is a nice park that you can walk in with your family or dog . There are fishing piers. A monument display of veterans and art pieces throughout the grounds. There are also restrooms. No complaints

My wife & I visit here every time we are in Charleston. Is a very quiet & relaxing place on the river. Displays tell the history of the old Charleston Naval Shipyard. There are still old buildings remaining from when the shipyards were still an active Naval facility.

This was really beautiful especially at night kids had an amazing time at the playground and i enjoyed the water front swing

Never miss a stroll at this park- breezes were nice and people watching- the best.
Close to all the action

This is a great place if you want to talk a walk along the harbor downtown. Murray Ave at the top end also has some great homes that are worth a drive past.

A lovely place to spend an afternoon. l actually went there for the July 4th activities. Take the kids, go with friends, share a picnic.

A nice place to go relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Charleston. A place you can sit, watch the sailboats go by, the dolphins swim by and just enjoy the company of the ones you are with.

It has been a long time since the wife and I were around the navel base area, and what they have done to transform that area is remarkable. There is a short paved walk along the river, with benches, swinging benches, and some odd-looking seating as close to the river as you can get. Beyond that, we walked around the entire grounds, where large Spanish moss oak trees provide great shade, even in the middle of the day. There weren't clear directions where to walk, so we just went wherever paved streets and walkways took us.
At one end of the park, you will find a memorial, with placks outlining the history of the base.
On the other end, you will find a very unique bridge that looks like it will lead to future park areas currently being worked on.
They even have an excellent restaurant (MOMOs), smack dab in the middle of the park. MOMO's is a slightly upscale, yet casual restaurant, with good food, as well as In and outside dining. The outside dining offers sweeping views along with more large live oak trees.
If you are looking for something faster and cheaper food options, there are always rotating food trucks in front of what I believe is the Charleston Naval complex.
Some of the large homes, like the Admiral quarters, are massive southern-style homes that would easily fit in downtown Charleston
Our first full circle pass of the park was about 2 miles. I am sure yours will vary depending on the path you take.

Stopped here on Veterans Day. Enjoyed the memorial and exhibit for the naval base that previously occupied the area. The riverfront is now a lovely community park with open spaces, art installations, a concert stage and sweeping views of north Charleston. Officers housing is also worth a stroll.

No real amenities, but a relaxing, beautiful place to relax, stroll, or just take in the views. Definitely a fun place for people watching, and I'm sure in the warmer months it is a beehive of activity.

Some of these reviews are for other parks and not this one. Green space on the old navy base. Fishing piers, military memorials, playground and just peace and quiet. We enjoy this park.

Happened upon this park by accident while trying to find something else. So many different elements to the park. Waterfront, memorial, entertainment, art and playground. Bonus, it's located in the old navy base historical district. Great old officer quarters. I hope they all get restored.

Breast cancer walk 3 miles. Always an adventure, Nice and breezy! historical area. Can't wait to visit again.

A nice little park, down in the old Naval Shipyard area, where they have fixed it up so nice. Beautiful boardwalks allowing you to hang out over the bay, a couple of monuments there marking the shipyard history and some of the ships that have been there. A nice amphitheater area were they have bands or music sometimes. Plenty of sculptures around to the arts folks. And they change things out, so things will be different on a later visit. Nice little park, and a good place to see the Ravenel Bridge and watch the Coast Guard go in and out. Even benches along the walks to relax, and picnic tables for quiet lunches or dinners.

The view here is awesome!! It doesn’t matter if your here alone, with the family or just that special someone, this is the place you want to be.

I have been here often, with friends and family. The wonderful memorials of the shipyards, depicted in pictures and statues, with the flowing water surrounding the map of the world, the sailor looking longingly towards the water, and the wife and child hugging one that has returned... all of these bring the history of the area to everyone who sees it. The stage where the concerts are held, and the art throughout the park, make it a great place to visit on any occasion.

It is quite and it has 2 hour free parking space along the street. Good to just sit and relax, watching boats and humongous cruise ship coming in and out of harbor

This is a beautiful site with meaningful memorials to all of the sailors and workers who worked on and sailed from the Charleston Naval base. We chatted with local folks fishing from the pier, watched kids play in the fountain and read the several plaques with great details of the industry, its waxing and waning. One can get an idea of the immense Naval ship building yard that dominated Charleston from so many years. The Hunley museum is nearby but open only on weekends.

The Riverfront Park is a great area to enjoy the outdoors and explore the riverfront in north Charleston.

Nice spot to enjoy your family, picnic, enjoy the breeze. Nice little walking trails for dogs, not too crowded.

Very pleasant and worth seeing, sights and sounds of the battery and a nice aquarium. nice view of the Harbor Fort Sumpter and the entry to the port of charleston

Loved walking around the park. We had a beautiful day. Gorgeous view. Kids were running through the splash fountain. Also visited the pineapple fountain. Close to all the restaurants and downtown fun!

Any day you visit is relaxing and surprising. You see dolphins, all sorts of boats and people who are doing the same watching. Fun in the sun.

Was there for an Animal Shelter oyster roast and chili cook off. Large venue along the Cooper River. Nice view of the river, marshes, and bridge. Great grass and a basic covered stage for bands. Easy to access and this time had shuttles to handle the crowds from the numerous parking lots. Looking forward to returning for another event.

They did a great job re-inventing the old Navy Base. There's an outside music venue, great monuments and the old homes are really cool to see.

I love this park! I view is so relaxing.I watch the kids play in the springs, the fishmen as well as an occasional tug boat pass. This is the best place for am. Yoga or a nice run

My husband and I stopped her while in the area in April to stretch our legs and get a few pokestops. It was a very neat place with lots of cool displays. The only thing I didn't like was the construction-looking area at the end. There were random items all over and looked like an accident waiting to happen. We circled around (this was at the far end past the restrooms) and stayed closer to the front. If something is being built/worked on there, I suggest putting up some tape or something to let people know to stay away from it. (If this area has since been cleaned up, that's great. Going by what I saw at the time.)

Nice location to walk, relax, read and people watch. Located in the historic district of Charleston.

A nice park in down town. Great view of boats moving up river. It is a fairly typical city park. Lots of people due to the proximity to down town

I brought the husband and kids to hang out while I attended a (free) yoga class here tonight. First time visiting, and can not wait to return!! The park is just beautiful. The view of the river during sunset was breathtaking. Hidden gem!!

Nice place to kick back and relax. Sightseeing along the waterfront. Pelicans, dolphins, seagulls. The city hosts numerous events. Wonderful music venues. Fourth of July is fantastic. Largest firework show in South Carolina.

Beautiful park along the Cooper river on the grounds of the old Navy Yard. This is a well laid out park that has some very well done nods to the history of the area as well as some very scenic walks along the river. If you have young children there is a nice fountain to walk through and cool off on a hot summer day.

The weather was beautiful and we had a very enjoyable walk around the Battery and took in the sights.

A nice place for relaxing stroll on the pier. Great little park under the Ravenel Bridge. They have a gift shop and a play ground. Also you may fish from the pier but I am not sure how you obtain a permit but they do sell bait here.

This is a former Navy base with some interesting information on plaques and a war memorial. Unfortunately, most of the boardwalk is closed for repairs, so you can't get as much of the nice water views as you would expect.

The scenery was good right along the pier.....we sat outside on high top tables and enjoyed a large fish sandwich.
There were four of us three had the fish one had the chicken salad sand which was also great.

Love stopping by and enjoying a stroll along the riverfronts of some of the iconic cities of the USA. Charleston is very historical and deserves to be on your wish list when traveling in the south !!

Loved the display of fireworks and the led display with the ground fountain sprinklers. Great park however, it is underdeveloped. No decent bathrooms, not enough access ways with a car, and need more food trucks for events and more play equipment for year round.

Great place to spend time with family or friends. If everyone doesn't want to stick together the location is convenient to restaurants, bars and shopping.

I have lived in Charleston since the 1980's, how could I have not found this beautiful place sooner?
Take a long scenic walk along the river, enjoy watching the ships and boats, enjoy your favorite sport in the huge grassy fields, stop and study the history of our beautiful city. Enjoy the art exhibits throughout the park. This is really a cool place to take your family or special one to just get close to nature and enjoy this huge complex called Riverfront Park. Great exercise and so much to see...
I enjoyed an awesome concert here as well with a beautiful 30 minute fireworks show... I thought I was back at SeaWorld on New Years Eve laying back on the grass enjoying the entertainment.. Awesome!!!
Be sure and bring mosquito repellent in the Spring and Summer, you will enjoy the sunset here much more without the mosquito's munching on you...

This is a really beautiful park. On the grounds of the now closed Charleston Navy Yard. The walk along the river is gorgeous. The grounds where the officers used to live are manicured and their former residences look like they were just constructed yesterday-even though they're well over 100 years old. The memorial to the Navy Yard is very informative. Just a great place. Getting to it is a bit of trip. You have to wind your way through an active shipyard. We were beginning to wonder just what kind of park this would be. But it is a gem. A great place to exercise your dog and get a lovely view of the Cooper River. A must visit when in Charleston!

great spot for a music fest. lots of food trucks and restrooms etc. right on the river. quite nice actually. might even go back if nothing was going on. beautiful architecture along the way too.

Lots to like about Riverfront Park. It's a great place to walk, catch a harbor cruise, dine, and shop.

Park located on the river on what use to be the old navy base. Play area, Veterans Memorial , great for a picnic. If your in the area for July 4th huge fireworks display.

Nice, scenic walk along the water. Has a playground for children and fountains they can run through.

The scenery was absolutely breath taking! We walked, talked, took photos and just had a nice family outing.

I worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard before it closed in the early 90’s. The area was in need of something to revitalize the area. The city built this Waterfront a few years ago but I have not been to it until recently. It is a nice place to hang out, have a picnic, walk along the water, take the kids. It is also nice to see the old houses in the surrounding area getting facelifts.

Riverfront Park is home to the Greater Charleston Naval Base Memorial, erected in honor of the countless military personnel and civilians that served the United States and the Greater Charleston region while the Charleston Navy Base was operational. The Memorial is the only location in the United States that displays both the Lone Sailor and the Homecoming statues. Riverfront Park is also the location of North Charleston’s Annual National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition. A component of the North Charleston Arts Festival, the Competition and Exhibition features large-scale contemporary sculptures on display throughout the year.
It's on the former Charleston Naval Base, has walking paths, and a small dog park.
A great place to have a picnic or just walk around enjoying the waterfront.

Beautiful part for sigh seeing or just for some relaxation. I liked the fact that you could also fish off the pier (with a license of course) so that was a plus.

Overlooking the harbor, you have an excellent view of Ft. Sumter and the new Cooper River Bridge. There are several different monuments scattered around the park among the oak trees.

Loved smelling the salt air & pluff mud. Boys enjoyed the playground and we enjoyed walking along the path and boardwalk.

A refreshing break for the day. The pier has benches and swings to sit on. The sea breeze is fantastic and you can see the ships coming and going, plus see some of the other attractions.

LOVE this little park! Beautiful sculptures, amazing calm views of the marsh, plenty of benches and paved walkways!

A cool and secluded open park on a the Cooper beside the shipyard. Drive through the beautiful old Navy base officers houses to get there. There’s a playground for the little ones and a walking path that includes 3 or 4 bench swings overlooking the river for grownups. The small park also includes a stage for performances. Small bathrooms (the men’s wasn’t so clean).

This park in part of Charleston's Historic District is an absolute must visit for those who visit the "Holy City." There is much to see and do. The fountains and splash zones are fantastic. The walk out onto the pier is breathtaking. There are swings and tables for one to enjoy. The view is nothing short of amazing, especially around sunset.

We visited the River Front Park for the first time today, and I hope it won't be our last. This is a beautiful park, in kind of an out of the way location. The park is situated on part of the old Charleston Naval Base. There are sculptures and historical informational panels that give a history of the base, and of it's closing. The Commanding Officer's Quarters are near the entrance, and it was an old Plantation House, before the Navy purchased the property, around 1901. There are plenty of walkways and a couple of piers to enjoy. Also, in close proximity are remnants of the old base, which are interesting to see. The views along the Cooper River are spectacular and unique. You get a good view of the Don Holt I-526 Bridge, as well as some container ship piers. The park is (on-leash) dog friendly.

Park is very clean and nice. Needed to kill some time so I drove here with a good book and hung out for a couple of hours. Great for a Sunday stroll

I enjoy coming out here with my family to fish and allow the kids and Dog to play. i also attend the heart walk out here every year and host Several Forums throughout the year!! Great Place to visit

We had some extra time in the North Charleston area so we stopped at the park before setting out for home. The weather was quite nice so we walked for quite a ways along the water, took some great pictures of the area, and admired the nature and artworks along the path. The park is large enough that it was a nice quiet walk--we felt like we owned the place even though quite a few people were enjoying it at the same time.

This is our first visit, but hopefully not the last. It provides history as well as a wonderful place to relax. We love it!

Being ex Navy this was a must see attraction for me. It is a great park and a beautiful memorial. Very much worth a visit.

This is a lovely area filled with beautiful trees, fountains and a wonderful water view. Plenty of benches for resting and enjoying the sun and breeze. The pier provides a nice vantage point. Not terribly crowded considering we were there during a popular week. Worth a look, if nothing else to see the well known "Pineapple Fountain."

while we were there it was a nice cool or rather not hot, cloudy day. People walking around, not loud and very safe feeling.

Visited this park for the first time. Didn't know about it even though we live in the area. Beautiful park. The kids enjoyed the sprinkler area and the playground was so nice with rubber padding underneath. They loved walking on the boardwalk overlooking the water. We had a great time and will return. The only thing is don't walk through the grass. Stay on designated walking areas. The mosquitos were HORRIBLE. Bring bug spray and you'll be good to go. Also the houses on the grounds were so fun to look at and drive through.

It was beautiful at this park. Very isolated in the best way. We brought our puppy and he loved it, too. It’s located right on the Cooper river and surrounded by lovely homes in a residential area.
We plan to go back for the 4th of July!

I went here because my Uncle used to be stationed in Charleston when he was in the Navy and this is where the base was. Now, it is a park/memorial/golf course/shipping yard. The park has a lot of art sculptures there designed by people. The memorial was very well done and was beautiful to look at. There is a little fountain area for the kids to play in. There is also a pier where you can fish off of. The view of the harbor is very nice to look at. There is a little bit of stuff left from the Navy days and some boards with information about it at the time.

I had a ball at this park that is near the navy yard! It is great for weddings too! The grounds are clean and off the water. Pictures are below for a better view. Great place for events or a nice fishing trip off the pier!

Really nice park with a board walk along the river with places to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery. At the far end there is a pavilion. The rest of the park has plenty of benches to rest in the peace and quiet. While walking around you will see some cool statues and a real cool upside down wind chime.

We went to the Charleston Highland games this weekend, and I was very happy to see the park has paved pathways all over! We could go to the clan tents, the Celtic music, the physical contests, food trucks, the vendors, although the hard packed/asphalt gravel path was in need of repair, the parking was reasonably close. They had portajohns, which would have been a problem, as they were in the sand and not big enough to get a wheelchair into. We went to the restaurant momo's and it was handicapped accessible, but we didn't check out the bathrooms here, either. the restaurant had valet parking, and was reasonable in price. The park is free, the games had an entry fee. lots of benches and a few swings. people come here to fish! pet friendly.

this is a great food truck family fun night at the prk when they do have it.... I cant wait till its warm again! bands food trucks and jump castles

Hubby and I had time to kill before our check-in so we came here. We looked at all the sculptures and payed our respects at the naval memorial, whose statue reminded me of my grandpa. Definitely worth a stop.

We absolutely love Riverfront park have been many times walking and looking at the river and the beautiful homes is relaxing. Beautiful site to look out over the water.

The park was well organized and well landscaped. There was a lot of history explained and shown here. Very good activity to just unwind and to take your time seeing what the city has to offer.

Very relaxing to just sit and look out at the water. Children were playing in the fountains with lots of people watching their excitement. Wish I would have gotten to swing on the swings but were all taken.

This park is beautiful. It has a fountain for the kids to play in . It also has a playground and BBq areas. There are 2 piers there if you like to fish. They just installed free wifi a couple of month ago so if you have a laptop or smart phone its nice.
A hidden gem that most don't know about
This is a great place to simply take a walk, jog, or take in a concert (many of which are free). It is situated just below the Don Holt Bridge on the North Charleston side, near Park Circle, in the old Navy base. We go here a lot and we love it.
