Lots of restaurants, bars and shops conveniently located near hotels and downtown Rockille.
Near Metrorail / 30 minutes from downtown Washington DC.
Here you will find all types of restaurants (my favorite is Vie de France and Gordon Biersch). There is a multi-theater complex and several small boutique shops. For those who are traveling overnight, the Cambria hotel is a great hotel with staff that welcomes you like family and treats you like VIPs and rooms that make you want to stay for a long time.
Great for Business, Solo and Family travels - more for entertainment than shopping.

Excellent and inexpensive parking. Library and many restaurants validate for 2 hours. Many restaurants, including Lebanese Taverna, Thai, Russian, Buffalo Hot Wings are located around the square. Square has ice skating in winter and fountains in summer.

Great place with wonderful restaurants around, including ice cream places, candy store and neat retail stores. Very clean, safe place to stroll around!

The Rockville town center has many restaurants at various price levels, a French pastry shop, an ice cream store, artistic goods from around the world, nice toys, as well as a first class library and art center. There is lots of hidden parking, so it looks nice, but it's not to hard to park, and many merchants will voucher parking. You can also get there on the Metro. Not far away is a movie theater, more restaurants, and, coming soon, a hotel. The city often has cultural events such as free music or art shows there, plus ice skating in the winter. That said, it's more for locals than a genuine tourist destination.

the town square is quite sad - it is littered with homeless people. In the mornings, the homeless sleep on the benches with all of their belongings in carts. There are people speaking to themselves - cleaning themselves - its quite a big mess - not suitable to bring families to.

This modern town square with a retro look has several very nice eaterys and bars. In the winter there is an ice rink and in the warmer weather a play area for the youngsters.

Let them run and enjoy tons of options to eat! There are always activities, concerts, lawn or skating... Speaking of which the skates and ice are horrible.

My husband made our travel plans. I had no idea our hotel was near this stylish, urban square. We were all happily surprised to find we had this scenic place to walk, dine and more! Our objective was sightseeing in DC, but we'd return late in the evening and dine here. There are families out listening to music, there are shooting water fountains that kids can cool off in. There was a guy playing guitar (for donations if you like him). Plenty of people watching and lots of unique eateries. I wish I had more time to try the eateries! They had Spanish Tapas, Peruvian, Thai, Lebanese, cafes, Ice cream etc. In the short time we were there we tried 5 Guys, Thai Pavilion, Marble Stone Creamery, Starbucks, the French Patisserie (bakery) and got items at CVS. Very convenient, clean, attractive and generally fun place! Also, my kids are getting older but I noticed a a toy store that had a cute fun day for kids. There were activities, a balloon artist, and informational tables about things for young kids like foreign language lessons. The moms and kids were having a ball! There are 2 artsy places as well. Paint your own ceramics and a place where it appears you can take a class with friends and learn to paint a piece for your wall. All in all this is a great area of town. Tip: there is a library and a stage. I bet there are great community events here! Check the events calendar.

It's a nice public space. They have plenty of restaurants and a great new public library. They have a bunch of apartment complexes and condo communities. Plus some small shops, as well as a natural foods market. In the summer they have movies on the square, and in the winter they have ice skating. Every Memorial Day weekend they have a big Hometown Holidays celebration.

There are plenty of parking garages, but they can be expensive and fill up quickly, especially on a Saturday night. Most stores will validate parking for 2 hours.

One of the best new urban town centers in the DC area. Lined with restaurants (Buffalo Wing Wings, Lebanese Taverna, American Tap Room, to name a few) and the local library. This area is very popular with families on nights and weekends due to the stage/pavilion and outdoor splash fountain. In winter months, the central square is converted into an ice rink. Highly recommend for family friendly entertainment in Central Montgomery County.

By Grandna W |

Wonderful place for couples and families. Many great restaurants. Fun place to watch people. Library is right in the middle. Ice skating in the winter and splash fountain in the summer. Well done, Rockville.

Some say that Rockville Town Square is the same as Rockville Town Center. My view is that Rockville Town Square lies within Rockville Town Center. The 'square' lies between two parallel streets; restaurants and shops surround and there is a very nice stage at one end. During warmer months, the square has a well maintained lawn with large boulders, benches and other architectural elements. During the winter there is a large ice skating rink, skate rentals and lockers.

A multitude of events are held on the square. There is a nice web page with a calendar of events and information on the restaurants and shops in the area
.

walking around browsing the area - noticed the metro was close by - really a nice place to walk around.

By Mehdi Z |

A unique experience in the middle of a suburban neighborhood close to Washington DC but away of the crowdedness of US Capital! You can enjoy a variety of restaurant, public library, delicious ice creams, starbuck and even a huge grocery store.

By Shereef K |

Great place that have a big area in the middle for the kids to play in the summer and an ice skating ring during winter. this area has a verity of nice restaurants for all tastes.

By Lyman777 |

Nice ideas, but not as well executed as, for instance Downtown Crown or Reston Town Center. Parking is not convenient, and it is not free. Some stores are too well-hidden to be found easily by some people. Some good restaurants and store, but a lot of retail turnover due to lack of foot traffic.

By Goingplaces64 |

Great ethnic restaurants around a square that serves as a movie theater and sprinkle center on summer days and nights and transforms to an ice rink in the winter months. Wonderful library. Parking is free for the first two hours. A great place for families of all ages. The kids will love it.

By PA_AUDE |

Nice area with shops, a couple of good restaurants and theater at proximity. Always appreciable not to have to go to DC. And ice skating in winter!!!!!

By Cynthia L |

In winter there is ice skating, in Spring and Summer there are concerts and children's activities. Family fun, safe, easy parking.

By gail w |

Lots of casual dining options from great pizza a Mellow Mushroom, to a beer and burger at least 3 different taverns, to Indian or Thai. On Friday nights in the summer there is live music on the plaza and during the winter its an ice skating rink. Its a good something for everyone destination. Lots of parking lots and did I almost forget Ice Cream.

Rockville town square is a great place to go. You can spend an afternoon or an evening here. You can eat, go to the market, the library, or see what the bandstand is offering. There are also retail stores.

By rohlin_around |

Great place to take out of town guests. The Town Square usually has some fun activity practically every weekend. Whatever you like, Tapas, Bars, American Fare, Sushi, Ice Cream, Coffee, did I say Bar? Only thing missing is a good Italian place.

I've been a Rockville resident for ten years and just LOVE what they have done with the ugly strip malls in this area. The five year old center is built around public buildings: the library, courthouses and county/city government as well as historic buildings like Beall Dawson house and the Rockville historic district. A whole new mixed-use neighborhood across from the metro station has thrived: with stores, a gym, restaurants, a French bakery, Dawson's Market (Whole Foods except small and local), a weekly farmer's market, movie theater, Vis Arts for art classes, a public stage/fountains in the summer that converts to an ice rink in the winter. My daughter's high school is around the corner and those kids are lucky to have this nearby. Feel great about living in a city/county which prioritizes this type of development and does it well. Definitely worth a visit. Parking is not free but you can get two free hours with any purchase, validated by merchants in the area.

By namitagangwal |

1)nice place for an evenig hangout with family n kids too
2)Sitting area/benches available
3)We went for Rockville libraryopen till 9PM (good collection of books)
4)Dawson market is a good upscale grocery shopping destination. My favourite BArbaras cereals :) Good collection of nuts and dryfruits. Some fresh market stuff availbale icecreams etc. are good
transit facility is good to this location as this is close to Rockville MEtro Station. Walkable two three crosses /roads away.

Several good restaurants, bars and shops. Fun ice skating and pottery making, vis arts, movie theater, library. All in one place.

Love to go to Rockville Town square with my family so much fun. very family oriented and great for kids.

By 305KMD |

Maybe it's just because I've been going here for years, but the place has no identity. It tries to be a bar crawl scene, a family place, and shopping destination all at once. It doesn't quite succeed. Don't get me wrong - it's better than parking in a strip mall on the Pike, but so many bars come and go, and the stores have limited hours with little merchandise turnover. Not fun to shop here. In the summer there are always kids running through the fountains, and they do kids movies outdoors sometimes. The store mix blows my mind - right now it's candy, overpriced denim and some overpriced home decor store. There's also a weird knits store that sells very unfashionable items. Oh and the toy store that's dark and rarely opened.

Town Square is usually popular and a great choice for anything from dinner to brunch to just walking about, but I liked it better when it had a trendier boutique and a running shoe store, fewer salons, and more diverse cuisine.

By Alan P |

A variety of dining choices surround a sort of central public square.Enough choices to suit most appetites. It's a nice vibe, especially in good weather when you can enjoy the activity around the square and walk the whole area.Retail stores too.

By rwh3000 |

There is a new Maker Space now located on the second floor. Here is an opportunity to join others to learn new skills. Robotics, Electronics, even a Ham Radio Station are there as well. Parking is free for two hours. Plus lots of great restaurants at all price points.

By Sandy C |

We went to Town Square for ice cream and was pleasantly surprised by it' There was live music on a stage and, since it was a warm summer evening, lots of people hanging out and enjoying the food from the various eateries. I sw a Five Guys, a Mellow Mushrooms, It's Sugar and some other places I didn't amke note of the names of.

By AlfredoOczx |

It's a nice assortment of stores and restaurants. The library is great and there's a good sized parking garage. Pleasant plaza in the center with ice skating in the winter.

By Dnoveau |

Town center is another nice development of housing and retail adjacent to a metro stop. Like Bethesda, white flint, and others. It's a nice area, but nothing special.

By Darkman Hero |

Very nice place to go with a great variety. had i really good time everytime I go there. I go there every chance i get.

By richietaffet |

A great place to wander around with wonderful restaurants and unique shopping experiences. Our favorite restaurant there is First Watch. There is limited on-street parking, however there are plenty of low cost parking garages all around. Many street fairs are held there in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Good places for kids to play....

By McAwesomeMarkM |

Rockville Town Square is conveniently located by the Rockville redline metro and right off of Rockville Pike. The city hosts many different fun activities throughout the year at the Town Square. There is a permanent stage in the center with restaurants surrounding it. During the summer months they have salsa Thursday nights and live music on Friday. It's great for the family, a date night or hanging with friends. Pack a picnic, grab some take out, or buy food from one of the vendor tents. They also sell beer and wine. Bring your own chairs or blanket and hang. During the winter season they have a ice skating rink in the center of the square which is also nice. They do lighting of the Christmas tree, Oktoberfest and Home town holidays (which I heard is now moving to Montgomery College) and other events. Some people complain about having to pay for parking, but if you go to any of the shops or restaurants your first two hours is validated for free. After that it's roughly $2, which again is very reasonable to me. Only complaints I have is they use to do family movie night in the summer on Wednesday which was awesome, but people who live in the condos/apartments in the square complained about the noise since the movie didn't start until it was dark and in the summer months that isn't until around 8. Also, I'd like better food options, but it's been an ongoing battle with the property owner and tenants because the rents are way too high to have good mom and pop places.

By Jeannette L |

Lots of great restaurants here to suit all tastes, from traditional American, to Spanish Tapas and the best Sushi I've had. Movie Theaters, ice skating in winter and free music concerts in summer months, plus lots of boutique style shops to browse.

By Elaine H |

We were on the way to dinner close to town center and were pleasantly surprised by the artful Christmas trees done up in electric blue surrounding an ice rink! Who knew?

By knwuttke |

very picturesque downtown area- close to DC and many other attractions. Was very impressed at the cleanliness and bright lights at night- Everything you need is close by and I plan on going back again soon.

By barymad |

The Rockville Town Center is a nice walking area with a good number of decent restaurants and nice shops. Parking is plentiful and you can grab a quick lunch, dinner or snack at any time of day and into the night. Mexican, Asian, American, bar food, fast foods are all represented. The place is nice to go to mostly because it is rarely overcrowded. Try First Watch for tasty breakfast options. Good seating and outdoor spaces for weekends when the area often features festivals and live music activities. Check for schedules on the web.

By Bill L |

I was blown away at how trendy yet accessible this area is. Great window shopping, art galleries , and tons of dining and/or drinking options. Upscale or casual , it's all here . We were here on Friday night 8/19 and the square is set up with s stage and live music!!! It was awesome.

By RichardJPeppin |

A collection of restaurants and stores near and around a small open area. Nice to hang out- with friends, family, even alone.

By Roadrunner32 |

Downtown Rockville is now a very fun place to go - it wasn't always this way!!

A good variety of restaurants and some interesting retail shops. Lots of entertainment, including music, movies, summer water fountain to run in, and winter ice skating.

Admittedly, it's been difficult for some of them smaller retail stores and upscale restaurants to make a go, but the relatively few vacancies common to most any commercial space are quickly filled.

By Summerlove4520 |

Great place for a night out with friends or family. From the movies to the library to the restaurants Rockville TC is a great and safe place to visit.

By Caroline R |

Great place to visit with family and friends. Lots of restaurants, activities, cinema and fun things to do.

By Fauzia T |

The Rockville Town Center is the heart of where I live. It has some wonderful restaurants and the library is well stocked. During the spring, summer and fall there are concerts, outdoor movies, and festivals in the square. Most always something going on, especially for families. Parking is a little bit of an issue, but most businesses validate two hours of free parking.

By pezzyman |

This is a hip place to eat and hang out. It is in Rockville Maryland outside of DC. Many many places to eat and visit. Cool clean safe environment.

By Mary M |

Walked though here for hours and hours. l love seeing all the variety of shops, and restaurants. The yearly selection of concerts is one of my favorite things.

By LENNYPAL |

Lots of restaurants, a variety of nice shops and a grassy area to sit and relax. It's a nice addition to the city!

By MominVA |

Lots of eateries, but traffic and parking can be difficult on the weekend- upscale area, ice skating in winter

By RonFG |

While there are several interesting places to eat here, there is really no decent shopping available. An excellent library is here. A MAJOR complaint is that you have to pay for parking 24 hrs/day 7 days/week--there is a 2 hour validation if you purchase something, however. It is not downtown DC, but I understand keeping metro commuters from using the garages during the day. That policy has made up think twice about going there if we may spend more than two hours.

By CampSchambach |

Vision Rockville town center was fun and enjoyable. The kids both 12 & 9 enjoyed the ice skating rink. We enjoyed Dawson's Market, a small yet adequate little grocery store with a lot of unique and healthy choices.

By KRISHNA PARADOX |

Rockville town centre is one of my favourite places to chill out when im visiting US , the place has the serene yet classy feel to it, with less traffic and good restaurents and joints, to hang out, They have one the country,s top five rated chinese restaurent to boast about, you can just hang around here doing nothing or catching up with your old pals or on a perfect romantic date or your Birthday party it lits up all of them.

By StephanieS |

Rockville Town Square is a mixed-use neighborhood with restaurants, bars, shops and even a library. Nearby is a fantastic movie theater. There are often events and festivals on spring and summer weekends. It's a fun place to spend an afternoon or an evening.

By Vashti W |

Memorial Day Festivities were nice. All within walking distance. Food was great at WOB World of Beer.We walked over to the Ben and Jerry's for ice cream. Friendly community.

By Christina |

The town center is really nice. The ice skating rink really livens up the place. I love all the little restaurants and stores. A nice play to just stroll and talk with friends, family or maybe even a date. There are so many activities to do and places to visit.

By Mathew a |

This newly built part of the city adds new modern atmosphere to rockville, the restaurants are bit expensive than othersome in the same city, it gets really crowded at night and on weekends.

By Kshitij S |

The area is nice and has many shops. the rockville library has many educational and fun programs for young children .

By Kathpaints |

This open shopping center has a few interesting shops, but you have to pay to park, which I find very objectionable. The stores change periodically, as a few have gone out of business. I go maybe once a year but only when I have to wait for my car to be repaired.

By Stephen S |

OK, so the town center offers a small ice skating rink in the winter, sprinklers for the kids to run through in the summer, and an occasional band in the evening hours.

Surrounding the Center are various restaurants and shops... all of the restaurants are 3 stars or less. NOTHING SPECIAL here folks. Yes, you can eat foods from all over the world here, but none of the restaurants are ones that you would say "wow". I have eaten at almost all of them with few exception. There are 2 craft beer restaurants too, with Gordon Biersch being the better of the two.

There are a few crafts shops, a jeweler or two, Starbucks, and some specialty shops. Maybe a woman's clothier or two. There are two ice cream shoppes, Dawson's Food Market (expensive), and a community center and a few more places to walk by. Do not illegally park, or let your meter expire... it will be expensive.

The area is very safe. Kids can run free in the central courtyard, and there is plenty of parking in the surrounding garages. It's a short walk to Metro. But really, why would you take Metro to RTC when you could be in DC or Alexandria, VA?

By Anna B |

I really like this park and shopping area we come here for ice skating in the Christmas time because they have a singing Christmas tree with changing lights that's awesome. We also enjoy the little local boutiques with high-quality merchandise. Of course we enjoy Gordon Birch brewery and his Art Center that offers classes for adults

By standardsbearer |

Some superb and unique restaurants - Spice X-ing, Ev & Maddie's, David Chang, very good Peruvian and middle eastern but also a lot of chains. And outstanding independent restaurants on the periphery but outside the "square". Excellent local organic food market. A wonderful space to gather in but shopping opportunities are very limited - it is a place that does not seem to have figures out the demographics it appeals to - Except for a superb toy store, there is no place to buy much that is substantial or to go out of the way for - although some of the dining is.

By Roy A |

Wide variety of restaurants, shops, open spaces and a movie theater! From small cafes, to gourmet places to a food market(Dawkins can compete with Whole Foods with so many good options).

By Keydawn |

Daniel Burnham once famously said, "Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men's blood and probably will not themselves be realized." RTS was a small plan, so, no, if you are tourist, it ain't worth your time.

When we came in 1990 and live within walking distance of Rockville Metro station, yes "downtown" Rockville was a physical location but it was sad, desolated and dead. People went there 'cos it's the transit hub where Metro, MARC train & RideOn/Metro Bus converged. And yes, Mo Co gov & the MD Courthouse were there plus some horrific office buildings, condominium, garages and surface parking lots with small stand-alone "pad" site buildings.

Much of that has changed with the urban renewal efforts, strategic initiatives of the City and when developers realize there is an untapped gold mine right in downtown Rockville that could be as profitable as Bethesda.

Rockville Town Square is by size a 6-block piece of the wonderful urban renewal but was unfortunately developed into a 3 extra-long blocks where access is very confusing. Trying to explain where and how to go park your car is a real chore. This really is the piece that turned the downtown core into a destination for the locals because the ground level is dedicated to shopping and dining while the upper levels are residential, so the streets are alive night and day. When parking is a problem and it is, then you know you have achieved urban, no longer suburban or "strip shopping" none-sense which we find everywhere in America's small town centers.

First of all, there is indeed a square, and it introduced a needed spatial relief and a focal point into the new dense urban core, but sadly the planners screwed up on that one, it's an "in-block" square. Traditionally, such a public open space, a "square" has streets on 4 sides, or perhaps 3 with the only side without a street being either a cathedral or city hall. And it would be so laid out so that everyone knows exactly where it is and how to get there. If you ask where is the "Town Square" in Rockville, everyone has a different take on that and some would even wonder if one actually exists. That's a planning failure, probably more a result of property rights than the planners' vision. It's sandwiched between Maryland Ave (metered short-term parking both sides) on the east and Gibb St (limited metered on-street parking) on the west, with no east-west cross streets, thus assuming no prominent urban position. At the planning level, it's a nice idea but poorly executed.

The reason why locals know where it is, is due to the anchor placement of the public library facing the square on its NE corner, which the planners compromised by sticking a restaurant tenant right at the corner on the ground level. I hope they are charging a $1M for the annual lease. This is what you don't do in sensible urban planning, putting a tenant on the most important location properly reserved for a public institution. Where did these people go to school? Trump University?

They are still figuring out what to do with the square, usually it's a skating rink in winter, not sure what during the rest of years. There were water fountains or more correctly squirting water nozzles in the pavement, in other words, no raised edge pool with standing water but I am not sure that's still the case. Without a cross street on its south end, the square is almost always in shade, at least half of it, and that just doesn't work.

Most people come here for the library, the bars and restaurants, I don't know about the shops. The official RTS website show only 3 garages (A, B, C structures), but there is a 4th one below the retail storefronts on the SE end of Maryland Ave, which is where I usually park. In general, 2 hr parking is free with validation, but it's dirt cheap compared to DC if you have to pay.

They are still building all around the RTS which is all done. So in another decade, the whole area from Metro to where the Pike and N Washington converge may be suitable for a leisurely stroll, wandering & window shopping, if it all gets built out right. For now it's more of go park in the garage, go to library/bar/restaurant, then go home. Most of us locals who don't live in the condos and can't walk to it, avoid it due to the difficulty of getting there 'cos of traffic and the pain of parking in the garages. What a shame! Imagine if it had been conceived as a must-see landmark destination, with all kinds of fun thing to do, photo-ops and people would put up with the traffic and parking pains just to claim they have been there and done it with the selfies to prove it. If you go there, you wouldn't take a selfie. It's just not that kind of a town square. A real opportunity lost, but it's Rockville, and it's 100 times better than the way it was.

By Gerry |

Rockville town square is a trendy, modern area that has an ample number of dining options and shopping. Public transportation is available from most area hotels. The stores are of the higher end variety, so bring your credit card.

By 936Dave |

I have eaten at many of the restaurants here, and that is easy because so many come and go. This is an example of the City bad planning, by building lots of retail establishments and cutting back on the residents who are needed to support the retail. Some of the restaurants are very good, but cannot survive. The turnover is huge. Best retail management in the area but what can you do if there are not enough customers.

By Tony N |

Very convenient location to meet up. Has a good selection of dining choices and fun activities in the middle. Seasonal things to do.

By Michael H |

Summer is the perfect time for the free and fun concerts with people dancing and lots of smiles and happy children and puppies. There are many and affordable restaurants, free and plentiful parking for up to two hours, and a safe and friendly atmosphere.

By Trish W |

I have been there so many times and have good time every time I went there. Nice restaurants and bars.

By JC82010 |

I wouldn't go out of your way to see this. It isn't anything special. Just a place to walk through if you are planning to eat at one of the nearby restaurants.

By rofah2016 |

Nice place to browse after eating at the many restaurants. Occasionally live music that is fun. Stores are nice boutique some pricey

By Sue H |

Rockville Town Square is a small area centered around a pedestrian only square. If you are already in the area, stop by. I would not plan on the Square as a "destination" for the day! Starting in late Spring all the way through September there are free music concerts on certain nights. In nice weather you will also find Zumba classes at 11:00am on Saturdays in the Square. When it is hot outside the square has a fun fountain that will be full of little children having a blast. All winter long there is an outdoor skating rink.

The pedestrian center is surrounded by restaurants and shops and the public library. My favorite shop is Ten Thousand Villages on Gibbs Street. It has wonderful hand crafted art made by people in third world countries. The prices are reasonable and you can find very unique gifts there. Don't miss the art gallery at VisArts on Gibbs Street.

One block away on North Washington Street are some new businesses that are very popular. There is a Kung Fu Tea - a bubble tea shop, Lavande - a French patisserie and Amber Door Day Spa - a great place to be pampered.

For more information about concerts check out the Rockville Town Square web page. Two hours of free parking is available at any of the parking garages. Take your ticket with you and get it validated in any of the businesses.

The newly built Rockville Town Square doesn't have a shortage of places to visit.

Most of the restaurants are good, but there will always be a few that come and go.

By Dave L |

Have always enjoyed down town Rockville. It is so very close to the Saint Mary's Catholic Church where the writer F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda are buried. The Rockville metro station on the Red Line are close By.

We went to Rockville for dinner and discovered this nice area. The night we were visiting there was a free outdoors concert. It was fun and lively. After dinner we stayed to enjoy and walked around. A really nice and clean place.

We were over for a friend's wedding and ate near the square on a Friday evening and then saw a great band on the town square. All generations were there and it was a great family friendly way to spend a Friday. Well done Rockville!

By Tim F |

The Town Center has a great selection of ethnic foods and happy hours. The multi lighted Commons and traffic-free walkways are also attractive.

Ambiance:
Nice. Family-friendly. Not too loud unless there is an event going on.

Parking:
2 hour free parking with validation. Park at Lot B for easy access to ground level

Food/Drinks/Desserts:
Very good. Has variety of options.

Entertainment:
Regularly, there is a movie theater.
During winter, there is an ice skating rink.
When there is an event going on (such as holidays or summer event/concert), RTC has variety of events offered.

By D C |

Most street parkings are 15 minutes? Actually it's just right as the "Downtown" is pretty much 2-by-2 streets blocks with an ice-skating rink in the middle. There are some restaurants and shops, but for the tourist browser, you won't spend more than 30-60 minutes here (assuming you're not eating). Really, be here if you want to skate or eat. If you just expect to be here and walk-around and enjoy the day? Save it. Drive up to Federick and enjoy their wonderful Downtown instead.

By Jeff V |

Modern, urban twist on a typical piazza setting with restaurants and cultural events from time to time. Parking is no fun though.

By LLCDBC |

Rockville town center has gradually become a local attraction to family and friends gathering place. There are more restaurants and special shops than before, nice to walk around!

By theaterofbeauty |

Living in the area I was very excited about the coming of Rockville Town Center expecting an urban city like atmosphere that would save me from driving all the way to Georgetown or Bethesda.

While the Rockville town center has shops and restaurants that try to create an " happening" area with a lots of buzz .... it has not quiet mastered it!
The restaurants, while very décents, do not have the appeal of dining places with a reputation of " must try " !

The shops are not part of known retailers stores offering trendy ... latest......they are more like " family owned" type of stores.....

The " town square " has a sad beat..... even with the restaurants lining it up......
Their efforts during the Holidays season will include an ice skating ring that seem " abandonned" even when a few people are skating!

Overall, the idea of the town center is great but it is missing a " heart beat" that the downtown Bethesda has been able to achieve with small unknown store mixed with recognizable brands ......as well as a " beat " with the browsers , the joggers, the newness that is constantly available!

After we stopped here for dinner and a beer we walked through the town center. It was very nice, full of good restraints, bars and shops. Atmosphere was clean, friendly and safe. I came away envying the people who love in the apartments there. There is a non chain local market that seemed very good. Ample parking.

You can browse in the library, shop for jewelry, shop for clothing, and eat in a full service or on the go restaurant.

By TTToronto |

This is what a community town square should be - bubbling with people and young kids, music and tons of good restaurants around and friendly people, What more can i say?

By ScottinDC1975 |

I go to RTS several times a week, as I go to the Gold's Gym there and go to Bar Louie, Thai Pavilion, La Tasca, and Gordon Biersch quite a bit with my boyfriend. I live walking distance and there are so many restaurant options. In the summer they have a bunch of family friendly concerts, mainly on Fridays and beer/wine provided (for a fee) by Dawsons Market. In the winter there is an ice skating rink as well. Accessible from the Rockville Metro (WMATA Red Line), which is directly across the street.

By njgramps |

A nicely designed new city downtown with many restaurants, fast food joints, bars and shops. The ice skating ring was a surprise. A few more breakfast places are needed.

By PapalBull |

A nice small town atmosphere was created in this updated city center project. Dozens of restaurants, shops and people watching on nice days. The convertible outdoor center could be a skating rink in the winter or a kids playground in the summer!. The Square has a vibrant nightlife - that is when it gets most lively.

Take the Metro or park in the lots as parking meter enforcement is tight.

By Lisa D |

We are from NYC and were in town for a hockey tournament. Took a group of kids here in the afternoon however not much to do other than restaurants and some small business retail. There was a small ice rink w a Xmas tree in the center, really cute and family friendly. The hockey players had no interest in skating w beginners on choppy ice.
I would have loved to go back w a group of adults for happy hour and dinner. Plenty of places to choose from.
Parking is free during holidays and the garage is conveniently located in the center of everything.

Rockville Town Square is a great place for people to go out and dine and kill some time if they live or are visiting Rockville and don't feel like going out to DC. You grab some dinner and catch a movie at the Regal Cinemas. Everything you need for a chill afternoon or even a nice date.

By gabe35 |

The Big fight night. Mellow Mushroom gave HUGE DEAL$$ to see it for only $15.00 At home it would have been !00 bucks. They had a huge crowd. One guy did not want to pay..he made trouble..but everyone else loved the food and the fight. The owner is a great guy and the food is great. What a great event for that place to give his customers

By Valentine |

There is always something happening here. Kids enjoys splashing in the water fountain. Parents word love the fresh market and food vendors. Lots of various restaurants and shops

By MWP1959 |

Its great mixed use zoning good food, good times, good bars and good eats!!!great place for singles, families, strolling on a Sunday night eating an ice cream and people watching or enaging with friends!! - Parking can be a pIA

Rockville Town Center keeps improving and growing with more options for store browsing, eating and just hanging out. It could use more green space, but the library is terrific and the areas friendly cultural mosaic is on full display. It can use more traffic in order to keep businesses but there is plenty of garage parking. The ice-skating rink in winter is always a fun attraction. And the multi-cinema theaters are a draw. There's even a new hotel!

By Thomas C |

Went on a weekday night and there was serious dancing in the Town Center. Enjoyed the family friendly atmosphere and a very nice dinner at a tapas restaurant.

By Carmen M |

You could find good restaurants and live music during the summer! And sleigh rides during the holidays.

By RoadKing8084 |

We went here searching for a place to eat. It appeared to be plenty of restaurants with outdoor seating for some. It is a very nice looking area. I think it would be a fun area to hang out with friends. Since we were passing through, we didn't take time to explore except to grab a bite.

By mmassoumi |

It's a perfect place for family to spend the time and rest. Also all around the Rockville Town Square is Restaurant and Bars. The best thing about it is the Rockville library.

By kuoct8201 |

We stayed for three nights and we were very satisfied. The location could not be better, it is walking distance to the metro subway station to D.C.

By C L |

Has restaurants and a few stores. Also has a library. They do have parking garages in the area so you can find parking.

Movie theater close by as well as the red line (metro).

You don’t really come here for the shopping. You come here to eat.

They do Have late night options, as we come here at like midnight after playing hockey.

During the winter they have a small rink so you can skate. It’s funny seeing the mini Zamboni clean the ice.

By travelsecondlove |

Several blocks of restaurants, one super-market, movie theater, two blocks to Metro (Red Line) which gores to down-town Washington.

By Valentine |

You will always find something to do here. In the winter month: ice skating, in the summer playing in the fountain. Love the market days when local farmers bring produce and you can purchase food. Library is amazing.

By Pam C |

Great restaurants, interesting shops and fun seasonal events, makes this a convenient and spot to meet up with friends for an evening out.

By Blooms4you |

Expensive parking and mediocre restaurants not enough retail of interest. The parking cost more than the meal.

By JLachman |

Though Rockville town Square it’s self is a fairly new area, as in within the last 10 years new, I noticed that it is continually growing and evolving, with new businesses coming in to replace ones that failed pretty quickly. There are some long term staples in the Square, such as La Tasca and Gordon Biersch. In the summertime movies are hosted outdoors in the Square, well in the wintertime the square is turned into a small ice-skating rink. Parking is ample in the surrounding garages, and the vast majority if not all of the businesses validate your parking tickets for the garages. There are a variety of businesses in this little neighborhood, ranging from restaurants to the local library to a 24 hour fitness. If you go to Rockville town center you can rest assured you’ll find something to catch your fancy

By Lir |

The town center area was a beautiful open ice rink during winter, kids and adults could skate or watch, before or after a meal/snack.
In summer just walking arround, having ice cream or a quick bite is also nice
:)

By Basilio T |

Careful with the requirement for feeding parking meters on the roads even on Saturdays. Use the public parking buildings and take the parking stub with you to be validated at most stores, including the beautiful library. The street parking is really hard to use. The online APP charges 0.35 just for the benefit of being used.

By Tim |

Rockville Town Square is fun! We really enjoyed it. I think that everyone would have fun here. A nice time.

By Karen M |

Rockville Town Square is a very interesting place but I feel the shops are expensive. Lots of good restaurants with great food.

By Jordan C |

It took a while and more than enough tries (years) to get it right but it looks like the Town Center is here to stay and for good reason. It is an enjoyable place for all. A short walk from the Rockville METRO Station, there are enough restaurants for all tastes, theaters, stores, markets, shops, coffee/pastry, now hotels to satisfy most and if you don't want to do anything but walk around and people watch you can without feeling out of place. There is free entertainment out doors during the summer and in the winter an ice skating rink to enjoy. Of course there is no Town Center worth certifying without an Irish Pub which will open soon.

Discounted Garage parking is plentiful but the City should give serious consideration to extending street metered parking after 5 to more than one hour. Too much for you to do in one hour.

By DiGi0910 |

There are so many different options based on your mood, time you have and who your with.
Theres a great brew pub, Sports bar, finer dining and family places to eat. Head out on a cool night and enjoy. Easy parking as well!

By Dianne T |

Easy to walk a half of a block from hotel, pre order recliner sets, the only snafu was stale popcorn I was a rainy icy day, so they probably did not need so it just sat.

By PRSRJS |

In addition to great shopping and a wide variety of restaurants, including great options for dim sum, many Rockville municipal offices are located in the Rockville Town Square.

By Sunny Dr |

Thus is one of my favorite places either to grab a bite, have a cup of coffee, go to the movies or all of them. The shopping is ok too as they have a couple of unique places. Good parking availability, places to walk and roam around a nice way to spend an leisurely sfternoon

By Custer2013 |

During the summer they have free concerts on friday nights. There are a lot of different choices of restaurants including fast food for kids, if you don't want to sit in a restaurant. We have been there with family, friends, neighbors and even our dog!

We go there quite often because of the variety of restaurants and a movie theater nearby.
Parking is easy, just go to the indoor garage.

They have a fountain for little kids to enjoy and I've seen moms hang out during the day and evenings too.

By hawkeyed9sza |

a new upscale are of condos above with fun shops and restaurants below, and a center square with AstroTurf play area, splash pad, bandstand for entertainment, like a little village unto itself

By kwutt |

Great architecture mix, nice shops and restaurants. Hotels are nice as well.
Will stay here again later this year.

By Kolomyjka |

I have been to Rockville Town Square several times this year and recommend it for all ages. It is a true square space, surrounded by street level stores, restaurants, the public library entrance, and two parking garages above all of which are five to six stories of apartments and condominiums. There is an open stage where various entertainment is scheduled. Outdoor restaurant seating adds additional activity. Limited street parking is metered and costs 25 cents for 15 minutes. Garage parking starts at $2 an hour to a daily maximum of $12. Participating merchants will validate free parking for two hours if a purchase is made. This is a good place to relax and people watch. I have not rated this place "excellent" because the quality of food and drink at the restaurants are average for the prices asked.

By Paul W |

We started our adventure at Mellow Mushroom for pizza. Then we walked around for a while to take in the sights. We followed up with a trip to Five Guys for burgers. Then we bought some delicious pastry from a little French Bakery. and we ended the evening with a movie. What a wonderful day. What a wonderful place.

By Rockvilleman |

Surrounded by restaurants and a great library, the square regularly features entertainment -- concerts in summer and ice skating in winter. A wonderful addition to the center of Rockville.

By Stanley P |

Rockville Town Center is a charming open air community center.
Dominated by the Montgomery County Library and featuring an ice
skating rink in winter that becomes a series of fountains in the summer,
this is a charming area that caters to people and especially children.
There are delightful shops and restaurants bordering the Town Center
and radiating from it in all directions.

By Derek M |

The Town Square is pretty small, but it's very well kept and is a lot of fun to walk around and see all the people and families having a good time. There's seasonal special events being held here regularly and always a good selection of restaurants in the area.

By Regina D |

It's a small city center and town square, but was filled with people. People were sunning themselves on the grass. There is a center stage on the square for bands. They were actually setting up for a nighttime street festival when we were there. There aren't many stores, but there are plenty of restaurants, an indoor Farmer's market and the county library. It's a nice little stroll for about n hour. Lots of road construction going on when we were there.

By JoeS755 |

This area is filled with a bunch of restaurants, bars, a library and open area that is nice to picnic or ice skate. A gym is in here too with plenty of parking. Grocery store and multiple other mercantile shops are here. They also have events here i.e. farmers market, summer concert and wine events. This is a residential area too that is close to the Metro and buses.

By Matthew A |

Lots of options to choose from, bars, restaurants. Good for families and the younger crowds. Easy to get to from the Metro center, may become too populated in the near future with all the apartment buildings coming, but overall a nice place to visit.

By Gallo39 |

Great selection of foods. Pleased to find many vegan items in
deli and food bar, Friendly helpful staff. Free parking.

By Bob B |

Rockville is a great city, and visiting the new downtown and seeing the variety of stories and restaurants is excellent. The food choices are super and never disappointing -- try it one night with that one special person.

By AY1969 |

What would we do without this mini but cute little urban center? Much better than 10 years ago and always good to have a pedestrian friendly town center with lights and all. Nice Summer activities for kids and adults. Love it!!

By n2egypt |

I've stayed in this area several times and have found it to be a pleasant place to walk in the evenings. The central area include a small park with a water feature, fun for people watching. There is a nice variety of restaurants and a few specialty shops, as well as a public library.

By Ali A |

While I'm not a big fan of the "non-organic" town centers like this one (a historic city like Rockville should have had a "real" and historic downtown!) but this is one of our favorite family activities. There is a library, lots of restaurants ( some local ones but mostly chains and none of them are great but they're mostly good), a very good toy store (Toy Castle). The play area is nice, especially recently after redoing part of it (there used to be a play area which was infested with mosquitoes and gladly they got rid of it).
There are movie showings and live music during summer and a skate rink during winter in the main area (on certain days of the week and weekend).

Our typical activity is to play in the main area with the kids and get lunch at Lebanese Taverna or Five Guys (several other options are available). Frozen yogurt or Starbucks coffee, or a nice pastry from Rue de France are the typical afternoon (or morning) activities followed by book reading at the Rockville Library!

By adac1121 |

This development is a very successful project. There are many restaurants in here and parking is validated,

By Americevenol |

A municipal failure and a venus fly trap for parking tickets. Noted for being a revolving door for flash in the pan restaurants. Nearby RIO is better

By JennaMarie43 |

Ice skate in winter, play in the water in the summer, Get a great bite to eat and take in the square ! The library is right here as well.

By Dayle M |

Lots of interesting restaurants, ice rink in winter, al fresco dinning in warmer weather. Array of small shops, an organic grocery store, other amenities, plus the Rockville library. These are all accessible from Metro at the Rockville stop. Since I live so close, this is a fairly frequent destination - especially for Dawson's Market.

By jcstorm555 |

This is a great place to visit. Has a movie theater, plenty of restaurants and bars. Great for family's and also a great date place. However do t let your meter run out

By passepartout |

This is an attractive and compact town square. Bright artistic murals abound as done a community VisArts space which you must visit at 155 Gibbs if you enjoy art and galleries. Dozens of cuisines and from fast food to fine dining. An ice skating rink sits at tye. Enter a Ross from the public library. Plenty of paid but validated parking. Metro acceasible and, pedestrian friendly.

By DayTrip645821 |

Clean, well-maintained, many restaurants to choose from, interesting shops, easy free parking, adjoining library, lots of special events including bands and book give aways. Love to watch the kiddies having fun and playing in the sprinklers.

By wavestravels |

You can eat all kinds of food from Spanish tapas to chicken wings to frozen yogurt and much more. The library is in the center of the Square and there is a nice plaza with turf that changes seasonally. You can ice skate in the winter and there are summer concerts held here, too. There are plenty of activities held throughout the square, too. Painting pottery? Check! Clothes shopping? Check! Workout at the gym? Check!

By PooKit |

Days and nights during the summer months the square is always packed with people. One can find a variety of restaurants, from continental to tapas, sushi, Korean bonchon, Indian, etc.
It's a good place for a stroll. Must be careful when driving in this area, beware of pedestrians!
At night there's either a concert or a movies in the open air!

By Abbey0622 |

From movie theater to quaint restaurants and bars, everything can be found here in Rockville Town Square. My friends and I have been to several restaurants and bars in Rockville Town Square and all have met our expectations!

By Toni S |

This is a nice modern square with restaurants and shop which is very convenient to the locals and particularly those living on the condos on or near the square. It offers several shops and many restaurants and bars. With just a few exceptions, those are parts of chains and available in many similar shopping malls. Since the parking is difficult and never free the square is probably not competitive as a destination place.

By chiv0 |

it is a rather nice little square, with a bunch of places to eat and have a drink. there is a bar-restaurant with beers from local breweries from Maryland. during the winter, they put an ice ring for people to ice skate, it's about the only attraction there is in rockville. most cities in this county, montgomery county, are suburban, with pockets of little shopping centers. you have to go to D.C. to be in a real city with all the atractions.

By Malikkhokhar |

Excellent eating choices. Excellent "refuge" in the shape of library. Choice of cinemas. Easy accessibility. Walking friendly. Activities abound for all age groups. Seasonal activity including ice skating rink and food bazaar/fairs. Easy access with public transportation. One can enjoy individually or with family.

By janethO7040KW |

By Adriana F |

If you choose a concert night and or activity for the kids is great!
Many choices to eat for every budget.

Even if you go as late as 10PM you'll find food.

The Town Center in Rockville, Maryland is best described as a fine, quaint little town, which offers something for everyone.
- On weekends, during the summer months, there are quality outdoor concerts/entertainment for families.

2. There are numerous top-notch restaurants in the area. Some of my favorites are; Thai Pavillion, Peter Changs, Trapezzeria, Spice Xing & BWW. There are several other great restaurants, offering cuisines from all over the globe, such as; Spanish (Tapas), Italian, Chinese, all-day breakfast joint, Japanese, Chinese Korean, Greek, Indian, peruvian, American fare, micro-breweries,Mexican,places for the health conscious folks et all.

3. Cute boutiques, small shops, children's stores, gift stores, bakeries, cafe's and icecream/specialty dessert outlets too!

4. The Public Library is well stocked, and is frequented by many from various age groups and diverse cultures.

5. The Town Center is very well connected. The nearest DC Metro station is only a few minutes walk. The Bus service are great too. Highway 270 is easily accessible, as are several other Routes (like Rte's 185, 193, Wooton Parkway,28 & 355 etc)

6. The Town is safe and Emergency/911 services are in very close proximity.

7. Excellent new-Ishmael and upscale housing options.

8.Regal movie theater.

9. Recently opened quality hotel, Cambria Suites is well situated.

10. Great (upscale) grocery store (Dawson's).

11. It's also the Hub of Montgomery County's court/legal system.

12. Last but not the least, several parking garages (most businesses validate).

Visit Rockville, Maryland - you won't be dissatisfied or disappointed.☺

GET THERE -> Easy to drive and parking is all around. It is easier to go by the Metro Red Line to the Rockville Metro Station. Both AMTRAC and the MARC stations are right there. It is a short easy walk to the Town Square.
ENJOY -> Fountains, park benches, band stand with free weekend concerts, & often free live entertainment.
FOOD -> Many nifty cafes and restaurants are located right around the Square. A long walk or short drive away is a dynamite Indian resto, the Bombay Bistro that I like. A slightly longer drive near the Congressional Plaza is the Mykonos Grill for Mediterranean and Greek dining.
SHOPS -> There are many attractive boutique stores all around the Square including a craft brewery and a French style bakery. Most shops are stylish and trendy but affordable and friendly.
TO DO -> The City Library is open late and so is the multiple screen movie theater.
QUIET THE KIDS -> Try the Ben and Jerry ice cream or a burger from the Five Guys.
PROTEST -> For or against the Confederate soldier’s statue near the Town Hall.
VARIETY -> There are so many activities and things to do, I am sure you will have fun at the Square

By Luis B |

Sushi Damo and Canela might be the of only places at Rockville Town Square that a worth the trip and, if you want a more quick and good meal you may try Lebanese Taverna.
One of the bright spots is also Dawson's Market

By JKPuppies4 |

Lots of fun lots of restaurants and shops. Great area for the kids to play in a jumping fountain. It's a nice place to spend the afternoon.

By DaleYuzuki |

If you are from out of the area and are looking for a place to hang out and read books in a clean and recently-built library, walk to a corner Starbucks, and perhaps grab a bit to eat at a brew-pub or a chicken-wings place, you've found a good choice in the area.

Yes the parking is $1/hour, but the library offers free 2h validation; on Friday nights during the summer there are performances. Cool toy store ("Toy Kingdom"), nice (if expensive) Japanese restaurant, excellent Chinese restaurant on the corner ("Peter Chang's"), another one across the street from them ("Jin River") (both are Szechuan).

Lots of choices for snack or bite to eat, a cool (in the summer) or dry (in the fall or spring) place to hang out for an hour or two (I'm talking about the library), not much not to like. And a Regal cineplex about two blocks west, if that's your thing.

By LolaGo1 |

There are restaurants, movie house, shops, library, etc, located here. I liked most the huge blue Christmas tree and the small Ice Rink situated at the center of this Square.

Near by are some small local museums, the Red Brick Courthouse, Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Rockville B & O Railroad Station, Veterans Park, etc. These attractions are FREE and are all listed in Tripadvisor. Please refer to my related reviews.

Tip: Take the Metro Red line and exit at the Rockville Station. Walk to the Rockville attractions located here and near by.

There are NO FREE parking here. Both the Garages and Metered Off Street Parking require payments. Parking becomes FREE when you request the restaurants, stores, shops where you do your business to validate your parking tickets.

By sperezny |

We came in the evening for dinner and it was very quiet here. Most of the stores were closed on a Monday at 6:30pm when we got there but we weren't bothered by that. Monday's aren't a busy day anywhere. We loved the Dawson's Market. It's like a whole foods so things aren't inexpensive but you can find interesting things there. Overall the square is nice and I'd imagine it's even better on a day when everything is open.

By Gina C |

Excellent food, though the service was a bit slow. We ate various tapas, including individual chicken and vegetables paellas....it was very delicious!

By danrezzy |

Fun place. Lot's of restaurants, a multiplex movie theatre, ice rink (in winter), concerts on weekends in summer, etc. Garage parking very large and cheap and easy access to and from the retail. Really nice.

Close enough to walk from our Marriott Courtyard and there was a Panera Bread restaurant and a grocery store, which was helpful while we were there

The well-designed complex has a nice mix of shops, restaurants, and a very nice public community space that makes this a good family destination.

By HelenaGuerra |

This area is developing very fast. We walked from the metro station to Bob's Shanghai 66 and we were impressed by the new construction and new businesses.
There are many shops and restaurants around, chains and ethnics.

By DASBarcelona |

Nice, but small, area with many ethnic restaurants and small boutiques. Good for business lunches as well as an evening out.

By KRISHNA PARADOX |

nice restaurents, good for jog, good people, and nice feel to the whole place.. i loved hanging out here

By RSalzman0924 |

I went to Dawsons today for lunch, after several good reviews from other co-workers. I saw the hot and cold bar and was impressed. I should have stopped there instead my eyes wandered and I purchased a chicken cheesesteak. Suprisingly my sandwich was horrible. It was as though I had a salt shaker for lunch. And guess what with all of the veggie options in the market- there was not ONE veggie on the sandwich- unless you count onions as a veggie- not too happy.

By Thetruth225 |

Offers plenty of amenities, restaurants, etc... The place is essentially a shopping experience in a sardine box. They really maximized the space, but I guess that is the new millennium shopping experience - No more MALLS! Overall, it's a good place to hang out, offers diverse restaurant options. Payed Parking during a time period, but I believe it might be free after 6 PM on weekend; but you can confirm this on their website.

By M S |

A handful of decent restaurants but parking is a pain. Too many other areas close by with free parking and better/more plentiful choices to bother unless you are already in the neighborhood.

By Spw91 |

Apartments above restaurants, bars, stores, and a library. I would have killed for a place like this when I was younger. Within walking distance of the metro as well. There are a bunch of parking lots around the outside, make sure you have the parking ticket endorsed whenever you eat.
Not cheap but fun, if you can't find something to eat here you have no hope.

By Cupcakemobley2 |

Rockville Square is full of amazing shops, restaurants, an open play area and main stage. The stage showcases local talents while shoppers browse and eat. Thai Pavilion, Mellow Mushroom, Bar Louie, Gordon Biersch and American Tap room are a few of the dining options available.

By JLachman |

Rockville Town Square has a pretty good variety of restaurants and bars, however none of them are ever open all that late, so do not expect to find any bars open at 2 am (unless things have changed since my last visit). They have an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter, and in the summer they play family friendly movies on the quad. It is a very popular area, attracting a diverse crowd. There is ample parking, though none of it free. There are only a few metered spots, but there are a few large lots right off the square. There is a Starbucks, a Gordon Biersch, Buffalo Wild Wings, a donut shop, various kitschy stores, a delicious Spanish tapas place, an amazing Thai restaurant, a library, and the movie theater is just across the street. I recommend coming here if you're a local or visitor looking for somewhere to dine, or happen to come at a time which coincides with the summer movies or winter ice skating. They also sometimes have live music on the same quad where the movies are held.

By jjmergirl |

I really really love Rockville town center. For me personally it's super convenient because it's about 5 minutes from my house but the options there and the convenience is great. And it's very clean.

By David S |

We had a great walk around the town square. There were also lots of restaurants to choose from. They had a large green area and playground area that kids/families would enjoy. And enough bars for some adult fun as well.

By my3peepsz |

Town square is very nice, out door ice skating ring, a lot of restaurants, cobble stone streets.

Kinda on the pricy side....

Near the court house and movie theater.

Adorable & unique toy store... my daughter wanted everything so you know it's good.

By dotravels |

The town square is very nice with a great variety of restaurants. We stayed at a hotel near the square and were able to walk everywhere we wanted. The town square is also conveniently located to the Rockville Metro Station.

By Prawet J |

A friend and I went to Rockville Twon Square to eat at Perter Chang Chinese restaurant. After lunch we walked around to see the area. It is a nice city Center type of place with lots of shopping and restaurants. It is also contained an ice Skating rink, a library, and parking garage. The Rockville Town Square is part of the Rockvill's Town Center. This area used to be an indoor shopping mall and now the city of Rockville built the area as downtown. Great place for shopping and eating and the street is walking friendly.

By oneleg11b |

We ate lunch at First Watch which is tucked into the folds of this quaint little town square. We left the restaurant and just began to walk around. The place was beautiful with a retro look and modern feel. There was a small splash pad in the middle of the square and the was also a small artificial field like area for play as well. There were several other places to eat as well as some shopping. We fully plan to revisit this town square another time. A storm was moving in so we decided to call it a day.

By PPH20879 |

The Rockville Town Square felt like a small town with trendy shops and restaurants. My friends and I enjoyed exploring the area and marveled at the planned community with condos, shops, a grocery store, restaurants, library and a large common area -- for Fall, they set up a skating rink! -- where residents and visitors can hang out. METRO is close by so no need to take your car into town.

By Jo M |

An ice skating rink surrounded by small shops, restaurants, a grocer, and multiple interesting restaurants! A good place to wile away an afternoon or evening.

By Morgan T |

The Rockville Town Square has tons of eateries - there is something for everybody on every budget. The atmosphere is great. It is well lit and clean!

a small town center that has a little of everything. Dawson's market specialize in local farm grown products and organic foods. Various international restaurants to satisfy all cravings... from American, Thai, Chinese, Spanish, Indian, Lebanese to Russian flair. Lively events are held weekly in the garden for the family, safe and clean environment, the only negative part is the pay parking. Also a movie theater as well.

By Regina D |

The upgraded movie theater with leather seats that recline is the main attraction for us, but there are lots of great restaurants at various price points & plenty of parking.

By Liza862 |

Rockville Town is such a cute little place with lots to do. Friday nights now in Spring-Summer they have a live band. People bring their chairs, kids, grandparents..you see everything. Also, there's a lot of variety in terms of restaurant options. You will enjoy a relaxed and fun Friday night here.

By jphillip2016 |

Wanted something to do to shake off the winter blues and skating at the rink in Town Square was perfect for the whole family. Parking nearby, easy access to the rink at affordable prices. Close to eateries for hot drinks, snacks or full dining, depending on taste. Good for all ages, family, couples or friends hanging out.

By Cindy M |

There are so many things to draw you to downtown Rockville - dozens of restaurants of every variety, the square which seasonally features concerts, outdoor movies, ice skating, magic shows, a "jumping fountain" for kids, the library, VisArts center with classes and galleries, Dawson's Market, bars and shops. There's convenient parking in 3 garages or arrive by Metro. A multiplex movie theatre is 1 block away. Always something fun for everyone.

It is nice that rockville has a walkable town center. The little central area is a great place to meet up, relax and people watch. This area also serves as a common outside area for people living in the local apartments.

By jct20878 |

Nice selection of small shops and restaurants with outdoor seating available. Free parking available for Library visits and reasonable rates otherwise. Free parking after 7 pm otherwise. Dawson's Market customers always have free 2 hour parking. Visarts and movie theaters close-by. I come here often and always enjoy my visits. In winter there is outdoor ice-skating in the center square and in summer there are concerts and outdoor movies. Cozy feel, family-oriented right near Rockville Courthouse (walking distance). You won't see everything by car so you will get a better idea when you park (mostly covered) and walk around this well-maintained square.

By Rainer Schroeter |

Nice area with good restaurants, but very small and just a few shops. Parking is too expensive for a shopping area, but if you wanna go shopping, you might anyway choose one of the surrounding malls.

By giselle g |

I love Rockville town center.
My kids play freely in there and there are several food options, a Dawson market and a few shops.
It is well maintained, clean and welcoming.
We go there all the time.

By Safari787304 |

You have to give the good folks at city hall full marks for effort. They really keep this area clean and welcoming. There are quite a range of dining options within a block or so. Parking nearby is easy to find and free if you get your ticket validated by any of the businesses nearby or even the library if you are not buying anything. The library is right on the square and is a very nice one. They often have some live performance and in winter months host a skating rink. So why haven't I given it 5 stars? Sadly, there are often a couple of not very friendly looking individuals around so that while I take my children there I feel like I need to keep a little more alert than is compatible with being relaxed.

By Sherry S |

Vibrant area with lots of restaurants and shops. Great outdoor seating on a warm night. Splash park for kids is particularly popular. Nearby is a small grassy area for playing also. Energetic vibe, safe, and fun area.

By Chris K |

If you're looking for food, they've got you covered. There's tons of asian inspired restaurants, Gordon Bierch and others. During the summer they have live music and kids activities in the square as well. Whether it's the summer and you need a splash fountain or the winter and you want to skate, the square always has something for you.

By Danielle R |

Rockville's done a great job in bring life to downtown Rockville. There's lots to do in the town square area - the MoCo Library, TONS of restaurants - all cuisines, bars, shops, Gold's Gym and Dawson's Market - a great organic market. This is also where our local courthouse is located along with some local museums. The city also hosts events here throughout the year, The MS Walk in April, Hometown Holidays in May, summer concerts and family events, etc...

By Pearl S |

Love the white lights in the trees at night. Very romantic. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Very safe to walk around.

By Y2C31 |

This is a nice place to visit if you want to go see a movie, go shopping or go out to eat. There's a lot of things to see and a great family location.

By KathyZanoff |

There are so many things to do and see. The shopping is one thing however there are always show, music and arts and crafts going on. Great place to visit especially on the weekends.

By ralph ruiz |

Good place to spend a summer evening strolling along the outdoor curbsides enjoying the small specialty shops and plenty of restaurants to suit your taste.I recommend Bar Louie's for a cold beer and good burgers and you can enjoy the sport games on the big screen tv's.Buffalo Wild Wings is another alternative, however there are more exclusive restaurants if you really want to show your date a good time. The Town Center also has a stage in center court for musical entertainment on Friday nights.Check their schedule for the free preformances.

By Timothy S |

Centrally located, walking friendly, and family focused. Downtown Rockville has great restaurants, bars, and a movie theater.

By margaretc007 |

Tried out one of the many restaurants around there. It wasn't very busy at all during the lunch hour on a weekday. There is the main public library, as well as many shops and eating establishments.

Where are the people?

By Frank M |

We visited Rockville Town Square earlier this month, although we have been there several times in the past year. This place is becoming a,destination: many terrific restaurants and one-of-a-kind shops and the excellent Dawson's Market. We highly recommend La Tasca for outstanding tapas and great lunch specials and the Cottage Monet (formerly of our hometown, Kensington) for unusual gifts. An added bonus is the flagship Rockville Library right on the square, a tribute to Montgomery County's emphasis on education and literacy.

By CSNRWhite |

The Memorial Day weekend in Rockville Town Center was a blast for our family with something for everyone. There were local bands jamming in 4 areas, small amusement rides and local vendors showcasing their unique merchandise. It was a nice way to bring people together and celebrate American heroes.

We also frequent the town center throughout the year for ice skating in winter, hanging out on the lawn in summer/spring, date nights at the many restaurants, or to just hang out at the Rockville Public Library. We have seen the this area transformed from bland old strip malls and court house into an attraction. The town center is a great place to be anytime!

By jeffl499 |

The Town Square is the place to be in the central part of Rockville for a lot of activity in the city. Built around three square blocks near the center of town, its houses restaurants, shops, apartments and even a branch of the town library ( a great place to relax with a bank of computers, stack of newspapers and magazines, and a good selection of fiction and nonfiction -- all managed by a welcoming and knowledgeable staff). The Square has an interesting variety of restaurants that open out onto tables set on the two intersecting streets or a small mall. The shopping includes not one but two toy stores, an interesting draw for children and adults alike. Plenty of parting on the streets or in the garages with validation available at most stores.

By 603relax |

This takes me back to a British Town Centre, shops, library, buzzing and a nice place to hang out with the family.

By MrsBatman |

The area was very peaceful. Really enjoyed walking around on a beautiful day. Would be nice to have more shops though. Has a lot more potential.

By MDMensch |

There are a number of good restaurants within a 2-square block walk and in the winters the Square has ice skating. Dawson's grocery is also in this complex, as well a mix of sit-down restaurants and fast casual options. Library is also in the middle of the Square and an inviting place to duck into once you've dropped kids at activities nearby.

By wad919 |

Friends, family or a date, this is by far a great place to go eat and hang out in Rockville. Enormous amount of restaurants to choose from, window shopping and live entertainment all in one place. You cant go wrong hanging out in the Square.

By LightQueen |

It used to be that if you wanted to go out and have it feel like you were out in the city, you would have to go down into DC or Bethesda. Rockville has upped it's game with all the recent construction and now offers so many restaurants and shops in addition to places to work out, get yogurt etc. Adding to the Regal Cinemas ( which used to feel very overpriced given that it was in a work district by the courthouse) Now feels like part of an urban setting with some nightlife.

By Bernardo F |

It was a very nice shopping and eating area. Lots of decent stores and good restaurants too. Very nice area and parking wasn't too bad with validation.

By Mamajogger |

After many attempts, Rockville finally has a beautiful town center with many attractions including places to eat, shop, a library, drugstores, and markets. Parking is ample and inexpensive.

By LM F |

I've been going to the Rockville Town Center for a few years. Pros- a lot of good food options, my favorite being La Tasca. Service is good at the restaurants- parking is plenty and validated for 2 hours. In winter there's an ice skating rink and summer movies on the lawn. Cons- a lack of decent shopping. The stores are quirky (and not in a unique way, in an unaffordable way) and few due to the library taking up a lot of space (not complaining about a library- just pointing out a fact). Also the rent is obscene and the stores turn over a lot. Rent increased on the nail place and drove the business out- so it raises the prices of goods/services. A good option for eating and family events.

By Martin H |

This was recommended to me by my niece for a visit. In all honesty I'm not sure what I was expecting. OK there are a number of restaurants in the area but very little shops of note and not much to do in the square.

By Michael R |

It's really too bad. Very comfortable seating with the recliner seats. The problem is that the staff is so incompetent and rude that I'll never go back there. I asked for tickets for a particular movie, and they gave me tickets for a different movie. When I brought it to their attention they didn't even apologize. They acted like I was trying to rip THEM off! They finally gave me my money back, but I never got to see my movie. Another time I asked for a ticket for a show at one particular time but they gave me a ticket for a different time that the movie was showing. What are they smoking?

By 22948 |

we live in Rockville & seldom go into the Town square, the parking is terrible so we go north to Rio center ..

By LightPacker308286 |

In the second Friday evening of June, the Melo Relo’s play the Pop music in the square. While tasting a Matcha ice cream cup with red beans as usual, we’re listening to music.

By Daniela C |

Go when there is a Friday night show is the best. Most of the time there is also good deals on food that night.

By LolaGo1 |

There are lots of activities to do and places to visit here: Movie Houses, Restaurants, Shops, Montgomery County Offices, Library, etc. Located very closed to the Rockville Metro Station, this place is best visited by taking the Metro (Redline).

it is my understanding that there are other attractions located near here: Museums, St. Mary's Church, Cemetery, etc. I plan to visit them next time I visit the Rockville Town Center.

By Prakash51 |

Do visit this nice, lively part of Rockville. There are fountains for children to play in, restaurants and shops all around, a town square to just sit and watch the world go by, and also a live band on weekends.

By MitchFlys |

Great area to walk around, people watch and experience the quaint and varied shops & restaurants. Vibrant atmosphere and lots of fun. Cool area to return to again and again.

By AH88888 |

Great restaurants, wonderful spacious Rockville Library, 2 hours of free validated parking, concerts in the summer, and ice skating rink in the winter.

By keerstn |

I don't like 'cities' and I'm not a fan of hanging out in them. I'm much more of a woods-and-fields kind of person. But Rockville Town Square is the exception to my rule. Walking around there is actually pleasant. In addition to the many, many restaurants and the grocery store that make life great for folks who live there, they have fun family events, like music and movies in the summer, and ice skating in the winter. The local library is gorgeous. And the people who stroll around during arts festivals and such - well, they make it all worthwhile. Not a lot of rude, pushy people - just kindness and sharing the space with neighbors. Love this place.

By rcbjr |

This is 1 of the 4 MOST HAPPENING "HANGOUT" SPOTS north of the Washington DC Line ( The others being Downtown Bethesda, The New Pike & Rose and Rio respectively). But if you REALLY want to see EVERYBODY just head to Walmart in Germantown!!!
Rockville Town Square has a Million Dollar Library at its Core that is basically a Point-of-Interest in itself. There's plenty of Restaurants that will fill just about any fantasy you can come up with....Outside Dining that offer GREAT PEOPLE WATCHING....The Courtyard in its center is located in front of The Library and is home to various outdoors Events like Concerts, Displays & even Ice Skating I've heard! Parking here is kinda TIGHT but this place is best explored on foot (or your Razor Scooter as I saw one middle age man enjoying himself the other day). There's also Retail Shops ranging from CVS on the corner (No Parking!), Verizon Wireless etc.
Across the street (but still apart of The Town Center) is The Movie Complex & yet more Dessert Options like Potbelly's Cookies & Ice Cream.

By jt20852 |

1st off there is a movie theater, an ice rink (in the winter) a gym (golds), there shops and restaurants and even a organic grocery store. This place is sure to have something for everyone. A great date nite destination, dinner and a movie walking distance to each other.

By Bubbe4four |

Great, close by place to have dinner, visit the library, do a little shopping, ice skate, movies or just enjoy a closeby urban setting

By Julio V |

You can spend a day with the whole family at this place. From movies to restaurants for all tastes and other stores, Rockville Towm Square has everything you need for a good time. And in winter season you have an ice rink to skate outdoors.

By JandR's travels |

Not my first visit here...always find this area to be vibrant, fun, friendly and just a lovely town centre. Nicely done indeed! Plenty of good restaurants and things to do in a short walking distance of the lovely lawned, central area. Friendly, clean, welcoming and a great place to grab a coffee in the sun, or indeed dinner of an evening. Really well designed, always new things going on - live music, mini festivals, street markets/vendors. A definite "to do" when in Rockville.

By McAwesomeMarkM |

I live in the city of Rockville and less than a mile from the "Town Square". It has really gotten better over the years and it will continue to grow as they build more. It has so much more than it use to. It now has some bars as well which it was lacking a few years ago. It has something for everyone. Going out with the family, friends, or a couples night out. It is a very safe clean place, that also offers live music on Fridays in the summer, movies for the kids on Wednesdays and an outdoor ice-skating in the winter months. This is a prime example of why Rockville was voted one of the best places to live 2 years ago. As the constructions continues and the rockville pike plan hopefully becomes a reality. Rockville will continue to offer something for everyone. It is also conveniently located in walking distance to the metro and right off of 355 and 270.

By themeetingplanner |

Love the "city" feel of the RTC. Many restaurants - some very good and some just so-so. Library is in middle of RTC. Love the water feature which is great for kids in the summer. Lots of parking - free for 2 hours with validation and inexpensive without validation. Almost every type store possible - but not the usual; Mall stores - local one of a kind stores. Love going for ice cream, lunch or dinner or a drink.

By Arcadia23 |

Very fun place to let your kids run through the water fountains and a good selection of places to eat but they may be a bit pricey to eat at.

By riva9129 |

This is just been re designed. It has lots of restaurants and bars, movie theatre, quick eat places. It is very safe and clean.
Good police presence in the area. It's off I270/exit 5/go east and u will run into it in about 3/miles. Or u could take Rt28/at the intersection of Rt355.

They have a California Tortilla, Giseppis, BWWings, Starbucks, Potbelly's, ice cream place, and a while bunch more.

By Nmbt211 |

Just got here and we were staying at Cambria Hotel. A lot of restaurants around and Dawson's Market is super fancy and alike Whole Foods Market.
Beautiful spot around holidays time and nicely decorated.

By J C |

This town square makes lots of money issuing parking tickets. Not a place to go shopping when the government is sitting there ready to tax you the second your meter goes over with the slow services of shops here. Good luck making tax revenue for the city of Rockville.

By David B |

Fun area with good places to eat. Kid friendly. Winter ice skating and summer concerts. Great place to relax and people watch.

By Fotiyev |

Good place to visit in evening after Christmas, a lot of Cafe and Restaurants and entertainments especially in Saturday .

By Marcia R |

Held every May in this beautiful town center, with incredible art, artisan foods and great music. All the shops and restaurants stay open to satisfy your every whim. Definitely worth the trip.

By peggyl103 |

Lots of choices of different cuisines, plus the library, and just walking down the streets looking into the store fronts. Then there is ice cream, pastries, bubble tea...

By EGP777 |

Rockville town center is a wonderful place to spend time with the family. There are plenty of good places to eat, do shopping and just spend a couple of pleasant hits with the family going to the movie theater nearby, frozen yogurt, or watch the open air fee concert or watch the kids playing in a traffic free zone. I like that the place is very versatile and becomes a skating rink in the winter. Also, our usual destination is a library where we child check out a book or two. Plenty of parking, too!

By olegdc |

The place is OK, little loud on the evening, would be nice to prevent car driving on weekend nights, but garage parking is right in the middle, what makes it uncomfortable

By tedboimov |

Rockville center has lots of places to visit, things to see, and people to watch. There are hundreds of restaurants, a big public library, ice-skating in the winter, concerts in the summer, etc.

By Cali_Blossom |

This is a great place for a variety of activities and shopping. Kids like to climb on the large rocks outside the new multi-story library in open space, adults can enjoy a locally brewed beer at Gordon Biersch (great vegetarian pizza, as well as meat dishes), nice underground movie theatre, Ben and Jerry's ice cream shop (hint: current as of 2015 buy a sundae and get a discounted movie tickets). Unique local toy store, two cafes (at least), and places to dine. Parking at the movie theatre is pricey unless it is Sat. or Sunday. Other parking lots are preferred weekdays.

By KtWhiting921 |

Town square is very nice. Lots to visit from errands to a good meal. We tried the nail salon, ice creamery and a restaurant and all was upscale service. Loved it.

By zipty22 |

Nice place to hang out at if you happen to be in the area. Sometimes, especially on the weekends there are events that are going on. In the winter they have ice skating.

By Marsha S |

Rockville Town Square is always bustling...from outdoor concerts in the summer, to ice skating in the winter...the place is busy! Nice restaurants, cute little stores, and THINGS TO DO!

By 54jeremiahs |

Great place to visit when it's just walking around looking at the beauty of the site and dinning out and movies

By chakbeh |

Close to metro, ample parking, variety of restaurants and bars, summer concerts and ice skating in winter. Rockville library closeby. Near to all the other restaurants on the Pike.

By Peetsta |

We recently stumbled on Rockville Town Square. It is lively, energetic with a lot of choices for restaurants, bars, coffee place, and kid friendly activities too. We ate at SpiceXing which was delish. The hostess was very friendly and when she heard we were new in town, gave us a lot of suggestions on restaurants and places around town. We loved it so much we went back the next day just to hang out. We were watching the last 30 secs of BCAA basketball thru the windows of a bar. The owner invited us in, even though we told him we were not staying and would not be buying any drinks!
Really friendly place!!

By Nancy B |

I love Town Center on a summer morning. Take your book (from the Rockville Library right there on the Square) and get a coffee and pastry from any number of places on the Square, grab a bench and relax. Dawson's is my favorite grocery store. They buy mostly from local farms so the quality can't be beat. Great choice of foreign and domestic wines. The staff is the best! And Seniors get 10% off on Wednesdays. For gifts, shop at the wonderful Toy Kingdom, at Ten Thousand Villages for their many fair trade and unique items, or Cottage Monet for something really special. And eat lunch or dinner at any number of restaurants. Eat outside on the Square when the weather permits. Go often!

By LolaGo1 |

We had lunch at the La Canela Restaurant located here. After lunch, we walked around here and enjoyed the ambience: Fountain, Shops, Restaurants, Library, Grocery Store, Government Offices, etc. Not big, about 3-4 blocks only!

Will definitely visit here again and try dining at the other restaurants located here. Please see my review of the Canela Restaurant here in Tripadvisor.

By Dan M |

Its a great place to go. You got lots of choices for places to eat. A library, a gym and a movie theater a block away. All within walking distant and i the summer its nice to sit in the main area and people watch.

By Kerri A |

The Town Square is a favorite place of ours on Friday nights in the summer. There are several dining options if you want to sit outside and listen to the Friday Night Live! concert series. There are also several good options for dining if you prefer to eat inside. The one downside is that smaller, non-chain restaurants have a hard time surviving in this location. We've had several places we really liked eating disappear, seemingly overnight. The larger chain restaurants seem to do okay though. Overall, a very nice place to spend a night out.

By Robyn B |

I visit town center about once a month for meals, music, events, and shopping. The parking is easy and people are pleasant. It's a fun safe place to visit

By LourdesandJoe |

Love the area and the many selections of restaurants within walking distance. While definite come back

By Amy W |

There are often evening activities in the summer. Recently, we attended a concert and there were three different stages! On a normal day, people come here for restaurants, movie theater, and some shops.

By Weeknight |

An impressive selection of restaurants, most very reasonably priced. Very family friendly, with large play area surrounded by and stores.

By LMNormoyle |

My office is located at the town center so I see the center on a daily basis. The area is beautifully landscaped, clean and is quite an attractive design. There are quite a few restaurants, clothing stores, toy stores, pottery making, etc. I could go on and on. The organic market at the center is quite nice, offers outside barbecues on Wednesdays along with a farmers market. The bandstand in the summer is great as is the ice skating rink in the winter. I seriously could go on and on.

By Secret Inspector |

Want a place to chill, hang -out, relax, chit -chat? Then this is an excellent place, day or night. Always something going on to watch.

By Bigmack13 |

in this area there are numerous restaurants and coffee, pastry shops, to include a movie theater. During warm weather there is also community events to include live bands and crafts. All of this in walking distance and parking is getting better.

By castoriva |

Restaurants, shopping, great public library, outdoor water gardens that kids can play in, close to movie theater and government offices as well.

By snoopysister |

Lots going on. Visit the library; get wet (or let your children) run under the fountains, taste the ice cream or the the candy store and eat in one of the many restaurants.

By mikebravo57 |

Numerous restaurants, ice skating in the winter, and shops all with convenient parking and within short walking distance. After years of disastrous attempts to upgrade downtown Rockville they finally hit a home run.

By Rene G |

Pleasant way to spend some time. Plenty of places to eat. We did have to pay to park even though we were just trying to get a feel for the area

By Emily Ann |

It's a great outdoor area that often has special events like the summer concert series and the winter ice rink. A real center for the area!

By lisafrique |

I livei on a cul de sac in the other Rockville that remains woodsy and relatively undeveloped. It is a treat to go to the urban Rockville Town Center to see a film, visit an excellent public library, eat an ethnic meal or shop at a sophisticated supermarket or a small, non chain store boutique. Parking is still relatively easy if you are willing to walk a bit. It beats taking the beltway to go into DC.

By margaretc007 |

This area has become revitalized with the opening of this square with its mainly restaurants and shops. There is a large public library and nice benches to sit on while resting one's feet. Parking is not plentiful, however, and going there during popular hours may prove to be a hassle.

By Margaret M |

A nice town square with shops, cafe's, bars and restaurants. Very clean area, a few small boutique type shops and local amenities.

By Joseph D |

Went to buffalo wings service was poor waited an hour for takeout but the food was really good not too many places were open after 11 o'clock and I didn't have much of a choice they were one of the few places still open

By Athena1919 |

Several restaurants and some shops, went during December, they have an Ice Skating ring, was not crowded. Overall enjoyed my visit.

By Lincoln117 |

Whether going to the library, marketing, getting a fine meal or just a beer Rockville Town Square is a fun place to go. In the winter its ice skating, in the summer its various activities.

By Gary B |

Town square continues to evolve. They have made it very kid friendly with summer season water spray and concerts to ice skating in the winter. And yes, kids can climb on rocks.
The square features the library an range of restaurants from Italian, Lebanese, Thai, tapas and American. A toy store and ice cream is within reach.

By Barb R |

I've lived in Rockville for my entire life and, after a couple of disappointing efforts to revitalize the downtown area, this has been a great success. I've been here many times, and each time is different. From the ice skating rink in the center by the large public library in winter, to the nighttime cafes on warm summer nights, there's something for everyone. Lots of shops, lots of restaurants and bars. In summertime, there are lots of programs in the center (where the ice skating rink is) and they often turn on sprinklers for the kids to run through. Traffic is limited, but it does travel on the streets -- in the center area, there is nothing but pedestrian traffic. Lots of parking garage spaces. While it's not a huge downtown area, it packs a large punch. There's a 13 screen movie theater across the street, with more restaurants and historical stops. Immediately beyond the theater are the government centers of both Rockville and Montgomery County. I especially encourage business visitors or any out of towners to spend a few hours here checking it out ... the locals probably know it well and don't need this review!

By Sylvia B |

Winter skating, summer fountains, year-round events, movies, specialty shops, and restaurants galore, walking distance from courts, and surrounding a gleaming modern library.

By TazDevil30 |

If you're stuck in the burbs and want a place to hang out, the Rockville Town center serves up plenty of restaurants and bars. You have to pay for parking which is annoying. Several places validate up to 2 hours but beyond that, you'll be paying as much as $7. There's some cutesy shopping stores and Dawson's Market for grocerys and CVS for necessities. The library is here too.

In the winter they have an ice staking rink and in the summer, concerns in the square.

By MikeM20850 |

I own a condo at The Fitz, which is a 9 minute stroll from here. There's free musical entertainment every weekend from mid-spring to mid-fall, and an outdoor ice skating rink set up during the remainder of the year. There's a huge Christmas tree overlooking the rink during the holiday season. The Rockville Library is open Fri and Sat nights from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

By RudraPalash |

it's an impressive transformation for Rockville Town Square. Wide roads, nice shops and eateries, skating rink and a huge public Library! It seems to have changed so much from when I used to live there, years back. Keep it up, Rockville!

By kate h |

They do a great job keeping visitors entertained with live entertainment, movies, ice rink and more. Good selection of restaurants. Shopping is limited but there are a few great stores and it's nice to have the public library in the square if you want a quiet place to sit.

By Anna V |

We had a great time .Nice restorant and small stores around .I like it .It's a good place for walks and during the weekends there is a life music.
There is a water fountain for the kids to play around .I always have a great time there .The French cafe have amaizing bakery

By concern_user |

Rockville town square is brimming with beautiful accommodations and restaurants. La tasca is a Spanish restaurant that is a nice hangout as well as a great place for tapas and sangria

By TomWall60 |

They have done a great job of revitalizing Rockville Center. There are quite a few shops, a market and restaurants. Some historic buildings and a large movie theater. Check for events on the stage. Ice skating in the winter. The main library is also here. Rockville Town Square is worth a visit.

By digpal |

A very hip crowd; lots of families and young professionals. Very entertaining in the evenings with different activities.

By Allen S |

The town square is quite small but pleasant. We find ourselves here for the library or one of the nearby restaurants. There is ice skating in the winter which seems to be popular.

By Palama88 |

Went to the Town Square to eat. Had a nice meal at Gordon Biersch Brew Pub. Food was good - German Themed. Beer was also good.

By C L |

Rockville town square is a nice place to live. You can walk to the metro so that is always a plus.

You got the movie theater there.

You also have alot of places to eat. Alot of it is bar food so it's bar food, but there is alot of choices.

You can walk to two grocery stores.

By Craig C |

Celebrating a friends birthday we agreed to meet in the courtyard. After listening to to a folk singer perform we walked the neighboring streets looking at shop windows.Dinner was excellent.

By Lauri F |

Rockville Town Square has a very European feel to it. It is a wonderful space to watch people, listen to music, grab a bite to eat and do a little shopping. The Rockville branch of the library, which opens directly off the Square is a modern, comfortable place to read , use the computers and enjoy being surrounded by books.

By ClaudiaHampsher |

This complex offers lots of small shops, different restaurants, a library and a movie theatre. There is so ething here for everyone.

By newtonhiker |

Since we moved to Rockville 2 years ago, we've been thrilled to discover that its Town Center is such a vibrant place! It's a family-friendly environment that hosts free live concerts on Friday evenings in the town plaza from May-September, with seating areas and a turf-covered area perfect for picnic suppers. Surrounding restaurants provide outdoor seating under umbrellas in the warm weather, and the trees are lit with twinkly lights that create a charming atmosphere. In the summer, there are ground-level fountains for children to run in during the day, and in the winter, the plaza is converted into a wonderful outdoor skating rink. In addition to the shops and restaurants, the attractive and welcoming Rockville Library is the centerpiece of this inviting community space. Congratulations Rockville for a wonderful plan for your town center!

By Heather V |

We stayed at the Cambria in town on our D.C. family vacation. We absolutely loved it here! Many dining choices all within walking distance and a movie theater showing new movies and some classics. Also includes a D.C. Metro station making it very convenient to get to the capital.

By TerryKees |

What a surprise. My husband used to work here and we quite by accident selected the Cambria Hotel to stay. It is the only restaurant walking distance to the Town Center, which we did not even know existed! What a beautiful area with wide sidewalks, trees and plants all around, a stage in the town square, and a big beautiful library, parking hidden behind the storefronts, and housing above the restaurants and shops! A grocery store. A market. A drug store.
Great for retirees and anyone else.
My only complaint is that there could be more shops, more non-chain restaurants, and a couple of higher end restaurants.

On Saturday night there was wonderful
Live music playing, people dancing, and families and couples who had brought chairs to enjoy the atmosphere.
There was also wine and beer to buy and checking of id's.

It is great!

Hidden Jewel!!

Trendy area with many restaurants and shopping. Exercise classes were conducted outside on Sunday in the Town Square.

By Tavole |

Whenever I go to Rockville Town Square I feel happy. In my opinion, this place has added a soul to Rockville. In those days when being outside is possible and desirable, the plaza is crowded with families, benefiting from the warmth of the plaza. Children playing and adults enjoying this natural show. The square has also allowed many shows, thanks to the scaffold and the scenario it provides. It is surrounded by many restaurants and the public library, a gem in itself. We have eaten several times at the Thai restaurant, which we recommend. There is also a Spanish restaurant, specialist in tapas, but we have not had a good experience there. The plaza changes character during the season. In winter, a skating ring provides an ample opportunity to practice the sport. In short, the square is a model of urban planning.

It's not the dollar, but the inconvenience. Just about every other shopping venue in the county has free parking. Rockville town center insists on making it difficult to shop there. Really too bad because many nice Venues

The Rockville Town Center isn't nearly finished yet, but what is standing now is very nice. It will be better in the near future as many projects are well underway. It might be better right now in fact if there were fewer dogs and dog people. And we have had several dogs in our family. Oh, does everyone need two? Well, still a nice place, with shops, restaurants, places to sit and people- (and dog-) watch on sunny summer afternoons. The pedestrian-only center is particularly pleasant, even with the dogs. Only issue may be the lack of parking and the strict enforcement thereto, so park in the P garages and pay the fare. The peace of mind is well worthwhile.

many nice restaurants, ice cream and bubble tea shops, boutiques and a nice gourmet grocery. Also, a stage and free concerts on the weekends. Parking garage or street parking.
