A great tour of local history.

By Anna C |

I bought our tickets on Groupon, not knowing exactly what the place was. Totally worth it. I would pay the full price. It is a beautifully preserved piece of history. Our guide was friendly, and extremely educated on the place. She answered all of the questions we gave her. They close at 3 during the summer because of the heat, it's an old house with 3 floors, it gets pretty hot in there. But if you can get there early enough, it's a short tour and very interesting. I highly recommend it. I will definitely bring our visiting guests there.

Great little experience!

This place was amazing! The tour guide was gracious and explained things well. The little gift shop has some great local hand made gifts and everyone in our party enjoyed it!

A true Colorado treasure

By ronestout |

Where in Colorado can you see an 1893 built 24,000 sq. ft., three story mansion that was designed in and out by a New York City architect? Only in Pueblo! The interior was designed in New York City also and was constructed with East Coast materials and workmen. Gorgeous. This is a place not to be missed.

Wonderful Visit

By Marguerite M |

We saw this museum as we were driving through Pueblo and thought we’d tour it since we realized it was often listed in American Castles. We loved our tour. Sarah was our tour guide and she was so kind to accommodate our limited time. We enjoyed our time with her. The best aspect is the home is authentic to the furnishings the people who lived there had as it was set aside as a museum when the youngest family member who lived in the home passed. We are so glad we happened upon this museum.

Wood finishes and stained glass window are spectacular!

By Ed M |

Well worth the time to take the tour if you are in the Pueblo area or want a short trip from Colorado Springs. Many rooms furnished for the most part with original furnishings. Wood work and stained glass window alone are worth the very modest tour price. Three floors of rooms to see on the tour--many interesting features including a tube type intercom, running water, numerous fire places, and rose décor.

A young girl (Jillian) was our tour guide--we were quite impressed with her knowledge and she was quite the entertainer. She added so much to the tour!

rosemount museum a piece of history

By monika o |

please stop by the Rosemount Museum to see a slice of history. The furnishings in the mansion are time period dated. The wood work done on staircases, fireplaces and crown moldings is remarkable. Chandeliers made by tiffany are beautiful. The carriage house on the grounds is now a quaint restaurant. the food was average but atmosphere and history make up for it.

wonderful!

By NANCY C |

This is another hidden gem in Pueblo. Very knowlegeable docents- beautifully preserved building and grounds- many antiques
not good access to restrooms, they do have an elevator for people that can't do stairs

By funhogs2 |

Reading the reviews for these kind of attractions makes you think that these historic homes are pretty boring. We have toured these type of homes all over the country: Newport, Rhode Island mansions, southern plantations, Frank Lloyd Wright mansions all over the USA, etc. This mansion is truly a gem and unlike any other mansion you might tour simply because the majority of the homes artifacts are original to the home. You'll see the beds they slept in, the china they ate off, the kitchen where the help made their meals, the books they read in their library, and more. There's even the rumor that some of the deceased family members are still in the house. I don't blame them; this house is fantastic and looks move in ready! The lovely lady tour guide is a retired school teacher(I could tell by the way she explained the tour rules-she even made me put my chewing gum behind my ear(just kidding). There are many details that were built into the house that I've never seen before. You'll even get to see an authentic Egyptian mummy, although that has nothing to do with the Thatcher family. We were in the house almost 3 hours for our tour so you'll definitely get your money's worth although I felt guilty only paying the $5 they charged for the tour. Don't hesitate. Just go. You'll be amazed. Also keep in mind that there is a restaurant in the restored garage and the food is very good and reasonably priced. Get there before you take a tour and make an afternoon if it!

Great old house that is worth the time to take the tour.

By Joey A |

What a wonderful house to tour. We enjoyed the way they have setup each room. You learn about the local history and also find out how this tour will lead you to the aircraft museum for the rest of the story. Great tour guides with a vast knowledge of the history of the area.

Wedding weekend

By Bucketheads |

We are on our way home from a family friend’s wedding in Colorado Springs saw this on TA and decided to stop. WOW what an unexpected delight. The mansion is really like nothing I have ever since. The preservation of this home is unbelievable. I loved all the beautiful woodwork. Well worth the time.

Great tour

By Richard H |

Very good tour in a beautiful early home in Pueblo. The guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable. It is very good stop for anyone who is interested in the history of the area.

A step back in time

By Bob L |

What a great museum. Not museum in the typical sense but in a small town sense. This was the home of a rich family. You get a feel for the times and you get a feel for the city.

I have a pic of my grandmother standing near this house back when it was the only house there! (Brother house, almost identical, is also in that pic.)

A must see when in Pueblo!

By Tbone234 |

The Rosemount Mansion was the home of a very prominant Pueblo family. The home is over 20,000 sq ft and was built in the late 1800's. The home is almost completely restored and has 85% of it's original furnishings completely restored. It made an appearance on A&E's "America's Castles" once, but the guided tour is much btter than watching it on a television. The admission price is $6 for an adult but is well worth it. The tour covers 3 levels of this 5 level mansion and takes about an hr and a half. The tour guides are well informed and a pleasure to be around!

Rosemount Museum

By jimho2036 |

This museum is a must-see! Pueblo has a very rich history, and this tour will give you a real flavor of the early days when Pueblo residents were making important contributions to the development of the American West.

Fascinatingly beautiful home built in the late 1800's

By Mark B |

This is a 'must see' if you are in the Pueblo area. It is an architectural wonder and in pristine condition, entry fee nominal.

Must See!

By Mark G |

The Rosemount Museum was like taking a step back in history to see what it might have been like to live during that time as a wealthy family. The house was huge and beautifully kept and the furnishings were almost all original. The young lady that took us through the mansion was so insightful and answered all of our groups questions. It took nearly 2 hours to tour this huge house and take in all there was to see inside.

We were very glad we decided to stop in and would recommend this museum to anyone visiting the area.

Unique Home

By Joan J |

I love these old Victorian homes. The Edison intercom system makes this one unique. Well worth the admission price.

Love this house! Recommend to visit!

By TravelinSoul |

This is a magnificent 37 room mansion that was home to the John and Margaret Thatcher family and was named for Mrs. Thatcher's favorite flower. This is one of those attractions worthy to take visiting friends and family to see when visiting Pueblo. I know I took many visitors there and each and every one enjoyed it. The only drawback are the tours you must go through to endure your visit. If someone in your group asks a lot of questions, that could draw out your tour. Otherwise, the admission is reasonable compared to the house tours I've done down south. The house and grounds are beautiful and it is very easy to find. I highly recommend a stop here during your visit to the Pueblo, Colorado area.

Good Place to Visit, once.

By Alan N |

Interesting place to tour, lots of good information about early Pueblo and the families. Wonderful decorations and decor. It is a little long though. Everyone should visit, once.

By nanjan_10 |

Beautiful Victorian home. I have visited several times.

Ah, the elegance!

By artandroxanne |

Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it can give you a really amazing place to live. Imagine living in a home with 37 rooms covering 24,000 square feet. The house is built of pink granite quarried 75 miles away. Interior woods include oak, cherry, mahogany and maple. It’s beautiful. It was named Rosemount after the favorite flower of the lady of the house, Mrs. Thatcher.
Fortunately most of the furnishing are original to the home so you can really get a feel for the elegance of the Victorian era. On your guided tour, note some of the hand painted ceilings, the hand carved stair railings, the hand stitched chair seats and backs, and the Tiffany chandeliers.
One of the rooms contains a few of the collected items of Mr. Thatcher. You can see a real mummy, one of three Mr. Thatcher owned. By the way, there is one mislabeled item in that collection. Mr. Thatcher thought he had a stork, but it is, in fact, a white pelican. The horn on the beak shows it was in breeding plumage. He was a great business man, but not a naturalist.

A must see mansion in Pueblo

By tank1050 |

This is a must see 1888 Victorian style mansion in Pueblo. We found plenty of parking on the streets around the mansion which with its land covers an entire square city block. As seniors our guided tour cost us $12. The lovely volunteers that run the house are so wonderful and loaded with knowledge and a genuine desire to make your experience an enjoyable. Our docent was Carol and she was fabulous. She was a wealth of knowledge about the house and the Thatcher family. We only had 2 other folks on our tour so she made it very personal and showed us lots of details they can't always take time to go over with larger groups. So much is original in the house and that enhances the tour. The grounds are also so beautiful as is the outside of the house. Please note, no photos inside of the house.

Very interesting!

By Lori A |

Shortly after moving to Pueblo West a friend came to visit. Just by chance we discovered Rosemount Museum and decided to take the tour. It was very interesting and informative. Our guide was an elderly lady but she had a wealth of knowledge. Would go again.

Gem in Pueblo

By Sebastian825dlb |

This was a wonderful and historic museum to tour. The mansion is pretty much the way the original owners left it. Big beautiful rooms and amazing woodwork throughout. Our tour guide was very young and should have been more knowledgeable about the details but she’s learning. Great place to stop and visit.

Amazing Victorian Home

By gmac8371 |

Had lunch at the Carriage House restaurant on the grounds then did the tour of the
mansion. Both are amazing structures, well ahead of the curve for when they were
built. The variety and quality of the woodwork in these buildings are fantastic as well
as a showcase for how things from the past were built to last.
(The chicken pot pie for lunch was excellant. I reccomend having late breakfast or
lunch as the Carriage House is only open from 9am to 3pm.

Worth a Visit!

By Marty F |

This Victorian mansion, built between 1891-93, was the home of Pueblo businessman John Thatcher and his wife, Margaret. With 24,000 square feet, several Tiffany chandeliers and 10 fireplaces in 37 rooms, most of which contain the mansion's original furniture, this home is on a par with other famous homes across our country. A 9' X 13" stained glass window is especially beautiful. This mansion provides a good taste of the grandeur of an era when magnificent homes were built.

If you're in the Pueblo area, this is a must-see. Our tour guide (I wanted to mention her name, but have forgotten!) was well informed and provided an excellent tour. Rosemount is easy to get to -- just three minutes off I-25, Exit 99B. Head west on 13th Street for 5 blocks, then north on Greenwood. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 to 3:00, last tour starts at 3:00. Summer hours may vary, call 719-545-5290 to check. Adults, $8.00; Seniors, $6.00; kids 6-18, $4.00.

Highly Recommended! Enjoy!

Big surprise!

By Freedomtogo |

This well-preserved 19th century mansion was worth the visit. Nearly everything inside - the furnishings, paintings, woodwork, fireplaces, dishes and even the window coverings - are original. The tour guide was excellent, too!

Great Historic Monument - ABSOLUTELY RUDE workers.

By LeSqueak |

We come here every other Holiday Season simply to see the Victorian decor...but man oh man, was our last visit horrible! The house, of course, is the same. I suggest you go in when there aren't led tours (you can get a brochure and tour the home at your own pace - people will be available for any questions you have, but you won't be obligated to follow them).

When we were there, mind you a group of 4 women, all adults....we were looking in the kitchen at the old tins they had and the set up they used to use back when the home was in use for a family...and we literally got yelled at. Like little children. For LOOKING.

A woman, obviously not in the Christmas spirit...or any type of good mood except for haggard apparently...ran into the kitchen yelling at us to not touch anything or we'd be kicked out.

Unless my eyeballs were petting the counters, I've no idea what she was going on about, but she was incredibly rude. Had this not been a place where families were touring, I would have given her a piece of my mind.

I hope the owners/managers read this, and train their volunteers properly - they're going to lose business quickly if they keep this up.

By Vacationer010 |

Been here a couple of times. One when we spent our 40th wedding anniversary at the Bed and Breakfast on the main street. And then when visitors came to see us. Both visits were enjoyable with many things of a bygone era to see and think about.

Don't breathe on anything here

By MVelasquez |

Very nice museum, however the docents are RUDE. They don't smile, they loudly reprimand you if you LOOK LIKE you're going breathe on anything. And, if you need the restroom, they follow you, wait outside the restroom, and follow you back to the group (this is understandable however, the manner in which it was conducted was extremely shady). A pleasant conversation on the walk would have been welcomed, but these docents don't seem to have anything nice to say to anyone who comes and visits the Rosemount museum.

This was a college field trip, I went as a chaperone, and I'm never taking the kids there again.

ABsolutely the best Victorian House in Colorado

By Paulette S |

What other place can tell the story of a whole region, show you the house as it was as the Thatcher Family had it from being built in the 1890's until the family passed it along as a museum in the late 1970;s. Beautifully kept, wonderful docents, great gift shop and it's fantastic at Christmas time. If you haven't been here come to Pueblo to experience this for yourself. You'll be glad you did.....and see a lot more of Pueblo especially the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk, Union Avenue and much more! I organized a group of folks to tour Rosemount while attending the Medal of Honor Convention which was held in Pueblo, Colorado. They loved it!

Rosemount

By TWurz |

Enjoyed visiting here, although no inside picture taking was allowed, we did take a few of the grounds. Our guide was quite informative, she was asked a few questions, but was unable to answer them and did not bother to find out for pour small group of six. Felt a bit rushed in the end. She was out the door before us. Nominal fee for the tour.

Amazing tour of gorgeous 1890's mansion

By Joan and Larry M |

This house was suberb! Late 1890's and everything is original. Different paneled and carved woods used in each major room. Spectacular fireplaces and staircases and chandeliers! Gorgeous furnishings and decor. This place was put together by persons with exquisite taste. And--an Egyptian mummy upstairs!
The story of the family Thatcher is also fascinating. Our guide, Sarah was excellent and the cost was very reasonable. Highly recommend!

Very well presented in every aspect

By Larue S |

Many geninue historian pieces of furnishings; along with the surprise of a corpuse well displayed. The elevator old but works, the stairs and outstanding woodwork throughout the museum is outstanding.

Make this a priority. It isn’t “just another old house”.

By lauralane17 |

The docents were great. Jan began our tour on first floor and Max took over from there. There wasnt a single question we asked him that he couldn’t answer. A wealth of information, he was.

Surprisingly Awesome

By Beckibecka |

I stopped here with my 12 and 9 year old when other plans fell through not really knowing what to expect. Now we want to go back. This place is a gem. The tour guide was very friendly and informative. I thought my kids would be bored, but even they thought it was so cool. I'm so glad we made the last minute decision to go. It's better to not know much ahead of time. It makes it much more interesting.

an untouched slice of history

By Jeanie S |

Rosemount was such an unexpected pleasure! All but a few items in the home are original from drapes to furniture to dishes. I especially enjoyed the kitchen with its copper sink to protect the china, the special little porch for their lifetime cook, and an extremely informative guide. If you like history you will love this tour.

Victorian era home

By vikkimsw |

I visited this museum years ago, but I assume it hasn't changed since it is a historical site showcasing a home from the early 20th century in Pueblo. If you like to see old homes and imagine how people lived in them in previous centuries, this is a good place to visit in Pueblo. The tour guides gave some really interesting insights into how the family who lived in this home spent their time. One fact I remember is how the rugs in the home had to be taken outside and hung up to be beaten to remove the dust and dirt since it was before the time of vacuums, and sweeping didn't do the job. I love these old homes and I would advise anyone who loves the history of family life in the past to visit this historical landmark in Colorado. Also, it isn't usually crowded or expensive, so it is worth the time to visit.

Beautiful architexture

By coloradan_7 |

A lovely place to visit and enjoy lunch, whether you are a resident or a visitor to this area. Easy to get to, with plenty of parking.

Beautiful Historical Site with changing displays by the season.

By pegathin |

I've been here several times at different times of the year, and it's always special, and I learns something new every time depending on who is doing the tour. This gem of architecture has some of the finest finishes of any mansion I've ever been in, and wonderful stories about the family that lived there. In June you'll see wedding dresses on display, and in December, fabulous Christmas décor. There's a small gift shop with very reasonably priced items, and a carriage house on the property which serves as a restaurant for lunch.

A Nice Piece of Art and History

By el-pajaro-79 |

This is a great tour for folks who like old houses and Colorado history. This is one of the most interesting abodes in the 'Blo (Pueblo). Tour guides were very knowledgeable!

A really great museum reflecting the very best you could have in a home over 100 years ago.

By amhlvh |

The original owners of this fantastic home turned into a museum spared no cost in surrounding themselves with the very best that money could buy at the time of their residing in this fabulous place. Definitely worth visiting for both adults and children.

First rate house museum

By HappyHawk65 |

This beautiful home was in the same family from the concept and building until it was given to the people of our community for a museum. It is remarkably complete with all furnishings, table settings, artwork and decoration intact and lovingly cared for. On the third floor there are also artifacts from the collection of Andrew McClelland including a mummy! Docents do an excellent job describing the family and the life lived in this beautiful residence. It is not to be missed if you are anywhere near Pueblo. There is also a carriage house on the grounds which sometimes operates as a tea from or restaurant. The home is beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Large house museum with almost 100% original furnishings

By jjctraveler |

Rosemount is one of the best house museums I have seen. What makes it so good is that the house has always been in the family and has almost all the original furnishings. My tourguide was not the best, she had trouble remembering some of the key facts, but having toured many historic homes I could figure things out. The large wrap around porch on the east side of the house is not part of the tour, but you need to walk on it just to enjoy the great space. No photography is allowed in the home, but you can take pictures outside. The tour lasts about an hour and admission is $6 for adults. Free parking on the street around the museum.

Fantastic Tour!

By mc2649 |

Beautiful home. One family's house with mostly original furnishings. Unique intercom system. Knowledgeable tour guide.

Beautiful area!

By C W |

Nice for just a day trip! Also a lovely park just down the road for picnics or just a break off the highway

Top rated tour for sure!

By anonymous80920 |

We treated 4 family members to this tour & all 6 of us agreed that it was well worth the trip from Colorado Springs. The college-aged guide was SUPER! She spoke with clarity & confidence...but most of all we loved her enthusiasm & quizzes! The price was VERY reasonable & a great deal for the 3 hrs we spent there. We also appreciated the authenticity of the museum! Our 9 yr old granddaughter said 'it was the best tour I've ever experienced'!!!!

Great place to learn history of Pueblo

By KateMoss0 |

Beautiful old house and museum. Tour leaders are very knowledgeable. We will visit again. It is decorated beautifully during the winter holidays.

Guided walk into Pueblo family history

By Mike_Fisher2014 |

Exquisitely preserved home from the 1800's is not one to miss when visiting Pueblo. Great tour with lots of information about family and life in the 18 and 1900's. Many of the original fixtures and furnishing. Tour take about 40 minutes and is worth it. I took the tour just before noon and ate at the Carriage House restaurant on the property, it was great.

Amazing House!!!

By LKWendel |

This place is impressive!!! Compared to most historic homes, this one is jam-packed with old furnishings, beautiful woodwork, artwork, lighting and clearly a great example of the opulence of the time period. You can visit all three levels of the home by guided tour. This is unusual for historic homes. There are some exotic stuffed birds/animals on display, as owner was a naturalist, and even an original Egyptian mummy!!!!! Can't even see this at the NY history museum. If you are in the Pueblo area and appreciate history, this place is a must!!

By harleygirl59 |

Great Museum with lots of history and it is always decorated for the holidays. If you like old homes this is one to see

You won't believe what is housed in this Museum !

By Magnolia |

Great experience in Pueblo... Amazing this property is available not only for a tour but the history it holds. Sarah was our guide. She was amazing. Very professional and informative. Sarah was also very discreet. Some of the questions we had pertained to the family's current situation which she was ethically unable to answer however she handled those inquiries quite professionally. It's a must

Beauty, history, elegance and grace.

By SunshineDaydream73 |

WOW! This mansion/museum has almost all of it's original furnishings and decor from the bygone Victorian Era. There are amazing details to see in every room, from books to wallpaper to the incredible woodwork. The guide was very knowledgeable about the family/mansion's history, local history and history of the era. I will be going back when I can just to see the details that I overlooked before. Only bummer is that you can't take pics inside the mansion (insurance reasons). I would have filled my mem card if I could have!

By Mimi123Nana |

This is a great place to see history and it is very beautiful. The lunch there is Super! I love coming here!

Pueblo's architectural "gem" from the past.

By Kathleen M |

As a historian and past curator of a historic house museum in Phoenix, AZ, I really appreciated a house museum of this caliber and with so many original furnishings. Very "high end" architecture and interior, especially for this period in Pueblo, CO. The guide was quite knowledgeable, and could answer a range of questions asked by people on the tour. So glad this has been preserved by the people of Pueblo and is open to see. Recommend for adults and older children, as younger ones would likely get bored.

Just passing through

By katjtravels |

We were passing through and pulled it up on this website. It sounded interesting so we thought we'd stop in. It was well worth the stop. Penny was our guide and very knowledgeable. The craftsmanship of the home is gorgeous. She knew quite a lot of the history of the family and the area. Definitely recommend stopping in for the tour.

Lovely house, horrid hospitality

By Missy S |

i am a huge fan of Victorian history, and this house is a very nice example, albeit many things in the house are in a appalling state of repair, to have let the ceiling frescoes get dirty and cracked is a shame, and one of the wedding dresses in the stair well was obviously missing a layer. that said i am absolutely NOT a fan of being insulted or scolded by a "tour guide". I have never been so insulted, no sooner did this woman have our money then she was thrusting papers at us and prattling on about stale factoids and shooing us along, she made no offer to answer questions, or show us the pantry, or explain why the granite table was cracked. A short five min later my husband and i stopped to read a placard and i was rudely told that if i wasn't interested in the tour that i should wait in the lobby, the rest of the visit was filled with a horrid passive aggressive tension that you could eat with a toothpick. I can say as a well traveled individual that I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place, there are far better samples of Victorian life elsewhere and far better activities to do in pueblo than this.

Halloween Party is great for the whole family

By John P |

Their special events like the Halloween Party are not to be missed and the kids love it. The whole family enjoys the tours and displays and we learn about the history of Pueblo. This mansion/museum is not to be missed and should be an included stop for any tourists.

A must do in Pueblo

By mel_pink5 |

We were only going to stop and look at the outside, but decided to take our kids age 14, 12 and 10 inside and inquire about a tour. The sad thing is you can't take photos inside, but it is worth the extra time to tour. It is reasonable admission and you go in small groups for a "private" tour. We thought the kids would be completely bored, but our guide, Seamus, did a terrific job to make it relatable to the kids and was very kind. If you are into history, architecture, or "how the rich lived" totally check it out. And if you aren't into those things, you will be when you are done because it is fascinating!

Charming house and friendly tour guide.

By Susan E |

This is an interesting home with plenty of original furnishings and interesting family stories. Cute little gift shop..

Absolutely a MUST SEE

By David D |

Most beautiful mansion with awesome furnishings. Depending on your tour guide you'll hear different and interesting features about the museum. Christmas decorations were beautiful but enjoyed during other seasons as you were able to see all the detail on the fire places. I love this place...the player piano was incredible.

Definitely worth a visit!

By Teresa G |

This place is amazing! WELL worth the admission price (which is nominal). We've visited several times now. Our favorite time is when it's decorated for Christmas. Docents/guides are full of knowledge. A very nice way to spend a couple of hours.

One of America's Castles

By DisneyCandy |

The fabulous home of a merchant and businessman who brought the first bank to Pueblo. Full of their original furnishings and lots of innovations unique for that time (1896), it's a wonderful home and well worth a visit.

Beautiful Home

By SEBWLO |

If you enjoy visiting old homes, you will want to see this. It is beautiful and the tour was very nice. We were told that they really decorate things up at Christmas time so it would be worth a trip to see it then as well.

Incredible tour

By tangojohnDallas |

We were incredibly lucky to have come on a Tuesday when "dr Deborah" volunteers to do the most interesting and educational tour I have ever been on. She dresses in period clothing and has a passion for knowing all about the Thatcher family but all sorts of interesting details about the house and what things were used for. This was well worth the time.

Elegant living in 1900

By SkiOma |

Beautiful and well-preserved mansion owned by the Thatcher family, one of the old banking families of Pueblo. Ask for Yvonne, an excellent docent for our 1.5 hr tour.

A rare Gem in Colorado!

By Barbara A |

For individuals looking for Colorado History this is a must see. We visited this month with two sets of our Colorado family to enjoy all of the Christmas decorations. The volunteers that guide guests are very friendly and informed. Take your mother and your children, you will be glad at you did.

Beautiful mansion

By Matthew W |

We enjoyed the tour that provided us a glimpse into the past. The mansion was well preserved and simply gorgeous.

Great house tour

By waldenrocksinsf |

I've been on my share of historic house tours, but found this one to be most enjoyable, due in part to the large amount of the interior actually open for viewing and the number of furnishings original to the house. Many historic homes have large sections not open for public viewing, but not here. The guide was particularly knowledgeable and presented the information clearly while also taking questions. Also, the groups are kept small, which makes it easier for viewing and for keeping up with the tour guide.

Local family historical house and local history

By TravisM89 |

The history of this family, house, and local community is very interesting. We were reall impressed with the architect Henry Hudson. I have been to many historic houses and they show the full house in the tour. Great story, great architecture, engineering, ornate woodworking and decorations.

Beautiful

By Jo R |

I went at Christmas time. It was beautiful. Definately worth the tour. Not something I would do yearly but interesting.

an exquisite step back into the past

By Marilyn W |

i began visiting this lovely museum thirty years ago. I try to take my students to visit this lovely place when the Christmas holiday season is taking place. The home is beautiful and tastefully furnished in Victorian mode. It is filled with gorgeous period pieces, the majority from the original owners. The docents are very knowledgeable as well. I would highly encourage visitors to Pueblo to visit this home/museum and then to time the visit to enjoy lunch at the Cariage House on the property.

By Charles R |

This historic place, specifically the carriage house, became the magical stting for a production of Romeo and Juliet in 1972, in which I first played Romeo as a young actor of 20 years age. I wrote a story about the experience and encountering my Juliet, Gail Threlkeld decades afterword. The mansion's interior was used for one of the scenes for the movie "Badlands" starring Sissy Spacec and Martin Sheen.

beutiful old house

By Riverbabe60 |

enjoyed the tour of this old mansion, very original, gorgeous woodwork throughout the home, stained glass windows, just beautiful but disappointed they did not allow any photography of any kind. would have loved the opportunity to do no flash photos to capture the beauty for my scrapbook.

By TheExperiencesILove |

What an amazing place. My wife and I frequently tour these old homes across the USA and honestly, the Rosemont mansion is the finest we have ever seen. We have been to see it now three times because every time we visit we discover some new interesting feature. It includes the original furnishings, all the original decor, even the original hand made carpet as well as an open Sarcophagus in the attic with a Egyptian mummy in great condition. Many other mysteries await travelers and adventurers to this fine home in Pueblo Colorado.

The docents are exceptional tour guides. These unpaid volunteers love this home and they exude their enthusiasm. What was to be a half hour tour lasted over 2 hours on our first visit due to our many questions and interesting and knowledgeable answers we received.

Another joy, is to stroll next door to the Carriage House where there is a fine little restaurant with wonderful food.

Amazing

By RhondaSpot |

Who knew in our town we have such a beautiful place. I was fortunate to attend a bridal shower here and it couldn't have been better

A Peek Back in History

By Beth D |

This beautifully restored mansion was a delight to tour. The kitchen was amazing and very progressive for the time period. It was furnished beautifully and filled with lovely art. Our docent was extremely knowledgeable and obviously enjoyed sharing the fascinating family history with us.

Great place

Very nice and informative staff. The house was amazing, I wish I had more time to spend there. I will definitely return to spend more time on the history of the home.

Wonderful historic house and museum

By Marta M |

This is one of the best places to visit in Pueblo. A beautiful historic house owned by one of the founding families - not to be missed if you enjoy history, art, or architecture.

By Amy T |

AWESOME tour guide! She was very informative; was able to answer a lot of random questions we asked about the mansion and the family. You could tell she really enjoyed her job. I felt like I was getting to really know the family that lived in the house as I was going through the tour.

A LOT of the entire museum was original. None of the wood, walls, or carpet had been refinished or replaced from my understanding. Most of the furniture and decor was original. They even had a room full of collectibles they had gotten from different countries, including a real mummy!

I would recommend it for those who are interested in seeing how those lived back in the day.

History & Architecture buffs will love this.

Visiting Pueblo, Co for a week and decided to visit the Rosemount Museum. This was a great tour of a late 1800s home / mansion. Built in the 1890s by the Thatcher family, the building and contents are extremely well maintained. One of the largest homes in Pueblo at the time. The 1 hour tour is probably not for kids, but any history or architecture buff would love it. We had an excellent guide and thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the gift shop with its "estate" items that are donated to the shop, and they sell at a very reasonable price.

Fantastic Victorian era Museum!

Now is the time to see the Rosemount Museum in its Christmas finery! But if you visit any time of the year you will be awed by this amazing jewel. Definitely a must see in Pueblo!

Fantastic Historical Landmark 1893

By Clarence C |

I usually take my family to the Rosemont on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Great historical landmark built in 1893 by the Thatcher family. The day after Thanksgiving we is when they opened for their Christmas viewing. It is so wonderful to see all of the decorations.

I enjoy going through the entire house and wind up in the massive dining area. The long table is set with the entire place settings for the family. I was told that the extended family still uses the home during Christmas dinner.

Well worth the couple of bucks to go in.

Well maintained Mansion.

Great tour of this amazing home. Beautiful oeriod decor. Have heard Christmas decor is outstanding and plan to go back in December.

By ColoradoCaliGirl |

A beautiful and historic museum! Quite gorgeous... especially with holiday lights. It has multiple floors with tour guides on various areas to give you the historical details. A non-expensive way to spend a few hours... good for adults or children!

What a surprise!

By timetogo132 |

My husband and I visited the Rosemount Museum on February 13, 2016, using a Groupon for 2 for 1 paid entry. To our surprise, the entry fee paid for a one-hour tour by Carol, a sweet and very knowledgeable docent, who clearly loves her job and the property. We were with a small group of about 8 people, and throroughly enjoyed viewing the property and hearing about its history. A lovely home that is being kept up very nicely by the city of Pueblo. Oh, and did I mention a mummy?

Beautiful historic mansion

By David L |

Our guide, Jan, gave us an excellent, informative tour of the beautiful historic mansion. It's definitely worth a visit.

Really, in my opinion, one of the BEST HISTORIC HOMES in the US

By loadyourwagon |

What makes this place AMAZING is that all of the mansion's curtains, furniture, clothes, etc. are still in place! The man who donated the home... notice I didn't say house.... grew up in the home from age seven. He never married. Many family items remained in place and one almost feels like a voyeur! You can tell that this place was a beautiful home and it remains a beautiful place to tour. The woods are warm and skillfully carved. The appointments reflect the luxury of the home without being pretentious. It is just a lovely place. If you don't choose to tour this museum, you really are missing out.

Definately worth the time to explore this great old mansion. The staff are very knowledgable and entertaining.

A Colorado Crown Jewel....

By Steve t |

Many historical homes promise a "step back in time" but Rosemount really delivers.
Just a magnificent 24,000 Sq Ft home that transports one back in time to experience how the upper crust in Pueblo lived....very well!
Great one-hour tour and one of the best in the state...a must-visit!

Nice

We had 2 guides, one just told a story about a item, then she went home, another told another story about the same item. Upstairs, is hard for handicap and felt pushed along.

Elegant local treasure

By teadivamuse |

We are recent transplants to Pueblo and it's hard to avoid this imposing mansion located in the city's historic Old Northside neighborhood. When some friends came for a visit, we decided to do the tour with them. A unique feature of this house is that almost all of the furnishings are original to when it was used as a residence by the Thatcher family. The custom furniture and the matching Tiffany light fixtures attest to the wealth and taste of the builders of this home. The docent noticed that I was struggling with the stairs (I have knee issues) and kindly allowed me to ride the elevator down at the end of the tour, which I very much appreciated. There is a presumably authentic mummy in one of the rooms who I think probably needs to be returned to Egypt so I knocked off a star for that. The admission fee is eminently reasonable, guaranteed to impress!

Beautiful Outside disapponied not to go inside

By BCR37 |

Went to go see Rosemont early Sept., due to the warm temp 95 and limited air conditionsg the museum was closed. Did get to admire house and carriage house while walking the outside grounds.

Enjoyed our tour.

By Candace71 |

A friend and I went during the Christmas tour season. We got there when it opened and it seem there were groups of people were allowed to tour it earlier. We wanted to tour by oursleves but we were told we would have to wait for a tour guide. We had to tour with another group of 6 which made us feel a littler akward since we did not know them. The tour guide did a great job explaining the history of each room. We had to leave the tour early so we could make our lunch reservations at the Carriage House next door.

When we arrived at 11:30 am at the Carriage House, we were the only ones there. By 11:45 am more people came in and the place filled up quickly with large groups. Our waitress was nice but it took a long time to get our food to us. My friend asked for some mayo for her burger and it took a long time to get it. My chicken salad was ok. I got the feeling the place was not prepared for the large lunch crowd. It was very noisy in there since it hard flooring and high ceiling. We never did get our bill. We had to go up front to the cash register and ask for it.

We were able to go back to finish our tour. We had a different tour guide and she was very nice to take the two of us to the rooms we had not seen. She said summertime when the rose bushes are in bloom is a good time to go back for another tour.

Unique and preserved mansion.

By Sherri S |

Loved the tour of this home. This mansion is rather unique because it was always a home and remains in excellent condition with original furnishings of the time period. This mansion also had some features that were very innovative for the time period. Collections were very interesting. However, I do feel having a real mummy is a bit disturbing.

A must for lovers of history, antiques and/or architecture!

By melsbells88 |

I worked at Rosemount years ago as an Education Assistant and let me tell you, it's a magical place. Unlike many historic homes, Rosemount never underwent any alteration into apartments or another private residence - it is literally frozen in time from when the Thatchers lived their daily lives there. As such, almost all the furnishings and personal items on display are original to the home and in pristine condition. Whether you enjoy antique perfume bottles, musical instruments, Belleek or Van Briggle pottery, fine china or Victorian furniture - you will be in heaven. The amount of rare woods used to embellish the trim and fireplace of each room alone will send you into paroxysms (if you're into that sort of thing ;) ) At the end of the tour you are left with the impression that you've just visited the family home of a family who invited you as a special guest, and you'll know how very special they were. The Thatchers figured prominently in the social and economic development of southern Colorado and left behind a magnificent showpiece as their legacy. Do not miss this very, very special place.

Beautiful Victorian Mansion!

By francesamay2016 |

Took the guided tour of this pink granite stone mansion. Ann, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the home between 1891 & 1893. Tour took a little over an hour. Nearly all furnishings & decorations are original to the home. Many Tiffany chandeliers, 9X13-foot stained glass window on staircase, hand-painted celings, ten fireplaces, much woodwork. One of first homes to have electricity and running water during the time period. Well worth the $5 we paid as seniors. Gift shop has nice items. There is a restaurant in the Carriage House, but we were not able to eat there.

Day trip Tuesday

Beautiful home with lots of history about the area. We had a very knowledgeable lady give the tour and the two of us enjoyed all the rooms.

Beautiful experience of another time!

By Jacki B |

The Rosemount Museum totally surpassed what I was expecting to see! This beautiful old home is exquisite! Our guide was wonderful - I wish I could remember her name! It was so fun walking through the different rooms and learning about the furnishings and life of the family. The tour took maybe a couple of hours, but that was a plus! We were there during the week and a time when there aren't as many visitors, so it was just my friend and myself with the guide instead of a bunch of people. Very personalized tour - more time because it wasn't a busy day, more one on one questions and answers, so we didn't miss a lot of things like you might in a big group of people. It was more than excellent! If you like going back in time to the Victorian era, you will LOVE this museum. Try to go when it's not busy and you'll be so glad that you did!!!

Great home tour.

By KCKris |

Yvonne was our tour guild and she was wonderful. It takes about an hour to go through, but was very interesting. So many details in this old home and very interesting history. We took our 4 year old and he tolerated the visit, but really enjoyed seeing the mummy.

A must see in Pueblo

This a must see. A lot of stairs but does have a very small elevator. Christmas time is decorated splendidly and a must see. It is beautifully decorated & maintained with many original furniture pieces and art work throughout. The staff is so knowledgeable.

Wonderful experience

By Lori H |

The visit to Rosemount was my favorite part of our Colorado vacation hands-down. We love to visit stately and historic homes all over the world, and this is one of my favorites. It is so unique, and we were so thrilled to see the care that is given to this historic and beautiful home inside and out. Our guide was superb! We were the only family on the first tour of the day, and our docent made it so personal and fun. I'm only sorry that I cannot remember her name, other than to note she is originally from New Jersey. We were not expecting to have such attention given and the wealth of knowledge she shared was amazing! She spoke directly many times to our 10 year-old son, and we were thrilled to see that she included him in the conversation (as many home tours we've been on in the past seem to disregard young people and often give the impression they would rather children be seen and not heard). There is so much to appreciate about this family and the care they took to build and furnish this gorgeous home. I also recommend purchasing the booklet detailing the history of the family and home from the gift shop. I'm so glad we drove from Colorado Springs down to Pueblo and then BACK up through Colorado Springs on our way to Rocky Mountain National Park to do this. Well worth the trip. Please go and enjoy this slice of history.

Once featured on America's Castles, this is a wonderful old stone mansion. Original furnishings, beautifully decorated. Escorted tours. A must at Christmas.

Dream home

By Avongirl29 |

I visited Rosemount today with some friends. It was breathtaking. Sorry to say that our "new" tour guide had very little knowledge of the home and was reading everything from note cards or a folder. She did not even know that the artifacts this family brought back from their travels to Egypt was theirs, she told us they are on loan from a museum. And she did not say anything about the ghost that is still on the grounds. Other than that is was a great experience

Rosemount museum is spectacular!

By katrina777 |

This glorious mansion was built in 1893 for the Thatcher family, and is considered the crown jewel of Colorado. When in Pueblo, make sure that this is one of your tourist stops!

Beautiful old home.

By cbettiga |

I loved our time at this historical mansion. My mom worked there back in the 70's. Remember going to the Stomp On for many years.

Amazing home.

By Keith Davis |

The Thatcher family certainly proved their worth. The fact that this beautiful home survived the ravages of time where as the brothers house was replaced with a crappy commercial building is a testament to how good they treated people and the town of Pueblo. I marveled and approved at the legacy of how they treated their staff which was as valued people paid a fair wage to work at a job that they must have truly loved. While it is not the Vanderbilt estate the architecture and technology were truly spectacular. Especially considering this was in the wild wild west where everything was hard to get and had to be imported from the east coast. The family had great taste and I love the fact that they travel the world. The current museum staff and administrators do a wonderful job of maintaining the house and grounds and our tour guide was wonderful and knowledgeable about the family and the house. It was truly a fabulous tour and well worth the money which wasn't much.

Wonderful Historical Home/Museum

By Durwoody |

Rosemount Museum is an historic home owned by the Thatcher family. It was built in the early 1890’s and has 37 rooms. You will not see all of them on the tour. There are so few of these historic homes that have not been adapted for other uses, it is nice to see one in its original glory.

They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 3:30 p.m. (for last tour). You have to do a tour to see the house. They are closed in January. You can’t take pictures inside the house.

It’s a really beautiful home constructed of Colorado pink volcanic stone and was designed by Victorian architect Henry Hudson Holly of New York City. I love architecture. This family lived in a 5-room house for many years before building this mansion.

There are so many things in this house that were put in that were state of the art for the period. Our tour guide said it was unusual to have a hot water tank (located in the attic, 2,000 gallons and fed by gravity), icebox, and intercom system. They had over 10,000 books in the home. Our guide said 90% of the items in the house were original.

There is a small gift shop where you can buy a book about Rosemount. They sell other things like jewelry, postcards and trinkets. I purchased the Rosemount Museum Pictorial Guide, which was a spiral bound book for $4.98. It is printed on a cream colored paper which makes it difficult to see the details of any pictures. The booklet is still worth the price because it does do a good job of discussing the historical backdrop of the time. The guide also talks about the construction of the house and costs and includes pictures and history of the family. I do think this home and family deserve a higher quality book on better paper with clearer photography, even if it sells for a little more. Better yet, have both options. I also purchased the Rosemount Cookbook for $4.50 and are recipes tied together with ribbon. The recipes are from two cookbooks used in the period from 1897 and 1900. It also includes recipes used by the Thatcher cook and by Mrs. Thatcher. Recipes include Pond-Lily Egg Salad, Cheese Croquettes, Scripture Cake and Hermits.

Definitely worth a trip if you like history, beautiful homes, intriguing history. Our guide, Debbie was excellent and knowledgeable. There were only 3 of us on the tour, so we could ask all kinds of questions. She knew the answers to everything.

Opulence at its finest.

By Buffer2014 |

What a beautiful mansion. The woodwork throughout is more than enough to make this a worthwhile visit. Be aware that you cannot go through the house on your own. Tours start every half hour and go for about an hour. Our docent led us on a two hour tour!!! But, those two hours were not too much. There were 4 in my group, including me, and then three other folks. That was plenty for rambling around the mansion. Interesting family, marvelous "house".

Christmas Tour

By Bob N |

Well worth the $6 entry, the museum is self guided during the week but there are hosts in all the major areas of the house that explain what you are seeing.

The woodwork throughout the house is beautiful. You will learn a lot about the history of the Pueblo area talking with the hosts.

The Christmas decor only lasts until Dec 31 and it starts the first Friday after Thanksgiving. I highly recommend seeing this bit of Colorado history.

Photos are NOT allowed inside the museum.

Best Victorian mansion tour ever (I have done a lot)

By Dennis C |

This was a real stroke of luck. Came to Pueblo to see the National Medal of Honor Memorial and decided to see the Rosemont Museum since we had time. Never have I seen a Victorian Mansion where the original furnishings were all there. It could be a TIFFANY museum as well! Painted canvas ceilings and more. Carved oak furniture to die for. Beautiful stained glass. Wood work throughout was as good as I have seen anywhere in US or Europe. Our guide greeted us at the door and gave us a private two hour tour for my wife and I. Her name was Debra and she was knowledgeable beyond belief. It will be the best $5 you will ever spend. Twenty thousand square feet of pure beauty! If you love Victorian mansions, DO NOT MISS THIS ONE.

This gigantic historical home is stunning and beautiful. The tour guides are good. See how some of the wealthier people in old Pueblo once lived and the awesome framework throughout the home.

A MUST see!!

By kcruz73 |

This mansion is beautiful and the craftsmanship from that time period is just amazing! All of the original furnishings the family had are still there, the artwork was beautiful and the woodwork is amazing.

My tour guide was great, we spent so much time in each room and she was a wonderful guide and story teller of the family. I felt like I was living there in each room when the family was.

I just loved this place! You MUST go see this Mansion when in town!!

Loved our tour of Rosemount

By Alan_and_Angie2014 |

Rosemount is a beautifully preserved mansion with original pieces still in place. Even the drapes in the dining room were the original from the 1880's! Our docent was so informative and her personality added so much to the tour.
If you are a history buff and historical home lover, you will love your visit to Rosemount.
And, it is offered at the low cost of just $5.00!

Christmas must

By Darlene N |

Touring this museum is amust if you enjoy history or antiques. Going at Christmas time is even better. They ave it beautifully decorated from top to bottom which made it even nicer. They do have an old fashion elevator if needed.

Victorian Grandeur At Its Best!

By Bevv |

Everything about this “castle” is impressive—from its sheer size and beauty on the outside to the elegant furnishings within. Our docent was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. As she told us about the Thatchers, the family that had the mansion built in the late 1800’s, you could just imagine what comfort and “modern” conveniences they had. Especially since Colorado was pretty much the rugged west back then.

The tour takes you through the kitchen and living areas on the first floor to the bedrooms, servants’ quarters, storage areas and small museum (complete with Egyptian mummy) on the upper floors. Throughout the mansion, you’ll find incredibly detailed woodwork and Tiffany chandeliers. A large dramatic stained glass window graces the main staircase landing. The workmanship is so superior; you’d be hard pressed to find such quality today. Since at least one of the Thatchers lived in the mansion up until the 1960’s, most of the furnishings are original – right down to the family’s china.

This place is worth a visit, even if you’re not into touring Victorian mansions. Just to see the quality and beauty of the workmanship of that era is worth the price of admission. Our docent told us that the mansion is beautifully decorated for Christmas and that would probably be a great time to visit too.

Check Groupon online for admission discounts. Also note that indoor photography is not allowed and your camera will be held for you until you’ve finished the tour. But there are postcards and booklets available in the gift shop. Also a nice complimentary brochure with some interior photos.

Just go. You won’t be disappointed!

Holiday Spectacular

Go here every year during the holiday season. Everything is decorated so beautifully! Must take weeks to get it so perfect.
They have year round tours, not just the holiday season.
This is a must see for locals and out of town visitors! You won't be disappointed!

Great visit. Christmas decorations make it even better!

This lovely mansion lives up to the description. Well worth the nominal admission fee. Wood work detail and craftsmanship, Tiffany light fixtures, and a marvelous painted glass window are lasting impressions.

Gilded Age Mansion

By hawk1131 |

Rosemount is a great example of a Gilded Age mansion. Wonderfully preserved and filled with original furnishings belonging to the Thatcher family that built and lived in the home. The tour includes all the rooms from the ground floor to the third floor, family spaces to the servants domains. The woodwork details and stained glass throughout the house are exquisite. My wife and I had a good tour with a docent who grew up in the area and offered information about the city and other attractions. The tour makes a special effort to keep kids interested. The Carriage House restaurant is also worth a visit. The surrounding neighborhood includes a number of houses from the same era.

Gorgeous Victorian Mansion

By stork90 |

The guided tour lasts 1 1/2 to 2 hours and is very informative. At first, I wasn't too keen on having to listen to someone the whole time we were checking the house out, but we learned so much about types of wood that were used in the building or the furnishings, as well as the running of a mansion around the turn of the 20th century. They only charge $8 per person, which is quite a deal.
The house itself is quite beautiful, but having many of the original furnishings still present was really great to see, and brought the era to life so well.
This was definitely time and money well spent!

WONDERFUL MUSEUM

By gypsy490 |

It was a great experience. A step back in time. This is worth a visit, the staff is friendly and anxious to share their knowledge about the history. You will be happy with your visit. Thanks.

Take the guided tour!

By tmazionsmith |

I grew up in this city, yet never did the tour - shameful! I finally did it when back home for a visit. I went right after the museum opened for the day, so I ended up being the only person on my tour. It was a bit awkward, as the young guide's material was clearly rehearsed, and with only me there, it was a bit odd - I would have liked to go with a larger group. In any case, the home is gorgeous (no photos allowed inside, though) and has many unique features that the original owner wanted. Great historical experience!

Beautiful Home

My husband and I love to tour old homes. This was the grandest home we have ever toured. It is a 37 room mansion! Our guide, Sharon, was excellent! She talked easily about the home, the furnishing and the family who lived there without sounding scripted. If you love old home, be sure to not miss this one!
Wear comfortable shoes. The tour will last a little over an hour.

Reasonable prices for the tour. Went on a tour where we wound up being the only two people on it. The docent did a great job and we found the whole home to be quite interesting. Beautiful beyond words

By Vanessa M |

My husband and 2 children accompanied me on this tour. One is a teen, the other 9, and I was afraid they would be bored, but they were far from it. This mansion is so beautiful. And our tour guide was able to explain everything to us. It is amazing how they lived in those times, and it was exciting for ALL of us.

The only downside is you can't take pictures inside. :(

Unfortunately we didn't have time to eat in their "Carriage" restaurant. This was a GREAT stop on our family vacation, and I will definitely make the trip to go see it again!!

Magnificent mansion

The Rosemount is a beautiful mansion that is meticulously well kept and authentic. Tours are provided by historical society volunteers. Our whole family enjoyed it. We were also there at Christmastime, when the volunteers had decorated it to period. Very special! Our children especially liked the Christmas train display.

OUTSTANDING TOUR

By geezergal55 |

We enjoy visiting historic homes in our travels all over the world & this was one of the very best tours ever, anywhere! Angelique did such a fine job of explaining the family's history, pointing out items of interest in each room, & doing it all in a lively well presented manner. Most enjoyable & highly recommended-reasonable price too! :)

Surprise Ending!

By MJ S |

The Rosemount museum is a quaint Thatcher mansion preserved for public viewing. Interesting, informed docents are available at each room to provide a historic blurb primarily about the Thatchers quirks and achievements. The gift shop offers mostly unrelated items for sale. The grounds are pretty and the Carriage House restaurant offers fresh, simple foods to sample here in Pueblo. Parking can be a bit challenging, ergo carpooling would be my recommendation. Overall, a pleasant experience. Be advised that there is no interior elevator for navigating the 4 floors. If you're able to make it to the 3rd main floor you'll be able to view a glass enclosed, bonafide, Egyptian mummy, along with other unusual creatures!

Local history in a beautiful mansion

By Deb G |

The Rosemount Museum is a beautiful place to get some local Pueblo history. The tour was very interesting and the docents have a lot of knowledge about the previous owners and the area.

Beautiful home-a must see for architecture and history buffs

By beadgoblin |

We took a tour of this house on our recent visit to Pueblo. It was truly a mansion-25 rooms and beautiful architecture. 85% of the items inside were original to the house, which was really neat. Even the servants' wings were beautiful. The docents were very knowledgeable. The only complaint was the last docent (we had 3) who took us on the 3rd floor, rushed through her part of it. I was very interested in the displays they had, but felt I had to rush through them in order to listen to the docent's spiel. The third floor was set up as a museum, and there was even an Egyptian mummy. A lot of everyday items the family used, as well as housekeeping and cooking schedules, which I would have loved to read more thoroughly. The woods used in the house were varied and beautiful, as was the tile work around the fireplaces. The cook stove in the kitchen was amazing.

I would have loved to get pictures of some of the house, but no picture taking was allowed of any kind. Sigh.....

Do Not Miss This

By Ted C |

One of the best older home tours we have ever been on. Not only is the structure beautiful, the furnishings are in there original settings and not staged. It feels like the residents left for a vacation and asked you to do some house sitting.

A Step Back in Time

By SoloMode |

If you’re in Pueblo go see this beautiful historic home! It is a time capsule with majority of the furnishings original to the 1st owner, which is a rarity for these types of homes. The tours are kept small and the guides are knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. Be sure to check times on their site for hours and be aware this is not air conditioned so they sometimes close if it gets too hot inside. The only downside for me was you aren’t allowed to take photos inside, so you have to rely on memory to hold the beauty of it.

Great staff

By Jennifer H |

The staff here are excellent. We didn’t realize this was an hour long guided tour. There was no way my 8-year-old was going to last through that, so shortly after the tour started we said we were going to slip out. We didn’t ask for a refund or anything. It was our mistake. A staff member said she would show us the rooms quickly, so she took us around the whole house and let us look at each room while giving the top highlights. They didn’t have to do that, and we felt it was going above and beyond. Plus she tailored a lot of her content to my son.

Beautiful experience throughout!

By Cheryl V |

This will take you back in time in a wonderful way! This home has preserved the era of time in an breathtaking fashion. Docents are very knowledgable and friendly. I would recommend this for all ages above 8 years old.

Interesting!

Enjoyed the museum! Walking through history is always fascinating for me. We also had lunch at the restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and freshness of the meals.

Must See in Pueblo

By tabster-SD |

Beautiful architecture with original furnishing. The art is museum quality. Our delightful tour guide Sara gave us a 90 min tour through the home; providing history of the family, the city, and the house. It took us back in time. This was the highlight of our visit. I'd come back for the X'mas tour.

A lot to digest in a little time

By Greg S |

We visited in the morning thinking it wouldn't be as busy but we were wrong. Our guide as a young high school girl but she did a wonderful job explaining the house, the family, and the furnishings in a way that everyone could understand. Due to the constant influx of people coming behind us we felt a little rushed when viewing some of the rooms that had much information displayed or were filled with items that are no longer common in society. We were given a hand out at the end of the tour that explained some of the displays in more detail but we thought it would have been more useful to have read it before we went on the tour. That could serve to break up some of the groups also, but overall it was a rewarding and worthwhile experience.

A step back in time.

By DaveOtt3 |

very nice to view and imagine what their life was and how they lived. Take the time to enjoy the beauty and history.

Beautiful Victorian Mansion

By David W |

My parents were visiting from Va and since they have been here a few times I wanted to take them somewhere new and I checked the top 10 things to do in Pueblo on TripAdvisor and this was #2. The mansion was built in 1893 and has been very well preserved with many of the original furnishings still in the house from when the Thatchers lived there. The docent who guided our tour was very knowledgeable and made the house come alive with many of her observations about the house. A very reasonable $6 fee for adults was charged for the 90 minute tour.

What a wonderful tour through this 38 room mansion. The architecture and furnishings are stunnng and the docent was knowledgeable, entertaining, and interested in each of us. Would highly recommend this as a stop in Pueblo. And inexpensive to boot.

Rosemount

By Al F |

This is a very interesting museum to visit. However, you will need several hours to tour the building. Volunteers will help you tour the building but they talk for hours about the family, and history of the building. Will will need time!

Great House to see.

By Dennis M |

The house is in spectacular, near original condition. We took the guided tour for all 3 floors and were very impressed with the condition and preservation of the building. The woodwork and architectural details are remarkable. The guide was very knowledgable and informative. We would highly recommend this tour.

Tour is great, customer service needs polishing

By LadyBug1122 |

Initial impression was not good at this attraction. Bought a Groupon for this house tour and noticed that they advertise a restaurant in the carriage house. "Don't Miss: The Carriage House, where horseless buggies have been replaced by a full-service restaurant".

Arrived very hungry after a long drive to find that the restaurant was closed the entire Saturday for a bridal shower. Went into the restaurant to file a mild complaint and ask them why they don't note on the website when the restaurant is closed and the lady told me: "We don't sell Groupons. The museum is completely separate from the restaurant". The restaurant lady had a complete of air 'I don't care'. No one has told her to respond to all complaints with the phrase "I am sorry for your inconvenience". A little fake empathy goes a long way with customers. I got the same type of response at the house although that lady did give me the name of a manager I could call who might care. A local tells me that this is typical of customer service in the area.

It was difficult to find our way into the house. The entrance is on the opposite side of the house from the restaurant. Every porch you pass on your way to the entrance has unfriendly signs posted regarding trespassing, alarms and $50 fees. Upon arriving at the servants entrance you have to ring the doorbell to get in.

Tours run on a regularly scheduled basis and they queue everyone in the gift shop to await the next tour. They should have let us read the information pamphlet at this point because our group asked the tour guide about 20 questions and she said the information is in the pamphlet given at the end of the tour.

Our tour guide was named Adeline and she was very sweet and knowledgeable. Her tour lasts about an hour and is packed full of information. The house is pretty amazing and in near original condition since only one family lived in it from 1893 to 1968. The stained glass window in the stairway is impressive. Most of the original furniture, built for the house, is intact. There is an interesting 'Downton Abbey' aspect to the servants quarters, butlers pantry and kitchen.

I am told that this house is larger and more interesting than the Molly Brown house in Denver.
If you are a fan of history there is a book on the family for sale in the gift shop but it is down by your ankles in the corner and there aren't many copies.

I will return at Christmas since I hear that the decorations are fantastic. Now that I know how they work, there should be no issues.

P.S. No photos are allowed inside the house. I thought this was strange for a museum owned by the city

beautiful mansion

By 2015birdwoman |

Beautifully maintained 37 room mansion built in the late 1890s. Many items are original to the house and photos of the family in the home. There is a restaurant right next door in the old carriage house. Family trunks are stored in the store room on the 3rd floor with family initials on them and a wooden crate that held a family harp. Lighting and stained glass windows are exquiste. The dining room is fabulous with settings on the table. Fireplaces are varied and marvelous - some have warming shelves built into the face.

A southern Colorado gem

By jeanray526 |

This magnificently preserved 1893 mansion boasts that 85% of it's furnishings are original. One truly steps back in time when you step through the door. It's definitely worth a stop in Pueblo. Leave at least a couple of hours for the expertly guided tour.

BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD

Beautiful house and it fully immerses you in victorian culture. Small Groups and AWESOME customer service!

Beautiful Mansion in Pueblo

By Tom B |

I have been to this wonderful museum multiple times in the past 10 years. It is always an interesting tour but even better during the holidays when everything is decorated in Victorian style. It truly is a must see!

By ciezie |

The Rosemount Museum is in great shape. It's beautiful at Christmas. Eating in what used to be the carriage house is a treat.

Great place to tour, especially during the Christmas Holidays.

By wyored |

This is a stop I try to include anytime I have visitors from out of the Pueblo area. The museum is beautiful and it is very well maintained. It is a true gem!!

A walk in the past

By Terry H |

I love going thru Beautiful homes, and this one is impressive. Way ahead of its time with beautiful original furnishings. Very lavish, beautiful grounds, and knowledgeable guides. Tour lasts about an hour and is reasonable for five dollars. Worth three times that amount. Lunch in the carriage house was excellent.

Awesome historical museum

By Shannon P |

If you enjoy a view into the past, make plans to visit this beautiful museum. They have tours every half hour and their staff are very knowledgeable about the family that built and lived at this amazing home.

Hidden Gem

By Replevin |

I took a little drive down to Pueblo to visit the Rosemount Museum today and what a treat! The house is absolutely beautiful inside with most of the items original to the home. I had an enthusiastic Junior Docent as my tour guide and she did a great job showing me all of the lovely rooms. The third floor is a bit of a surprise, there are some nice paintings as well as a room with items from all over the world including a mummy! If you are visiting Pueblo and enjoy historic homes, this one is a must-see! Enjoy!

Beautiful Historic Castle

By Christine A |

This was a highlight of our trip to Pueblo!
Gorgeous original home. Home only to the Thrashers! All original furnishings! We have visited many old homes and this ranked the highest in our opinion. Tour guide could not be beat! Very informative! Also very inexpensive!

Rosemount Museum

By DKBWIN |

We needed something to do for a couple of hours and chose to go to Rosemount Museum. It was one of the most beautiful old mansions I have every visited. Most of the items in the home are original to the house. It is exquisite! Not to be missed.

Nice historical house

By YIISD |

This is a nice tour if you have an interest in old architecture an furnishings. I believe the cost is $8.00 per adult, $6.00 per senior. It is a guided tour with a knowledgeable guide. No photos are allowed inside the house.

Fantastic Tour

By moabzuk |

For a great history into the Pueblo area and the Rosemount house, this tour was amazing. The preservation of the house and original artifacts in the house are amazing as well as timeless. Definitely worth the tour.

Great Historical Experience

By RickDude |

The previous reviews sum it up well. The house has a small elevator for people that do not want to climb stairs. The tour guide covered every aspect of the home and the Thayer family that built and lived in it beginning in 1893. She enjoyed answering our questions and did not rush through the tour. It felt as if we were the only people she was going to have to tour that day. Thanks for the experience.

Charming and Beautiful Mansion... a Must See in Pueblo

By Jannerme |

This is a fantastic spot to visit during the Christmas holidays. Each and every room is decorated beautifully. A docent takes you through and shares the fascinating history of the mansion. We visit with our family every year.

Amazing and affordable

By misseryn29 |

Knowledgeable your guide that is accommodating and was very gracious. We are going back to see the holiday decorations which have been promised to be out of this world and true to the time of the history of the house.

Beautiful Mansion!

By egraves888 |

We were thrilled with our 1 1/2 hour tour of RoseMount Mansion by Sara, who was an excellent, informative guide. The mansion has been excellently maintained and is in beautiful condition. Sara was detailed in her explanation of the family members, the construction of the home including the lighting, furniture, colored windows, wood walls, etc - all very interesting. The home was constructed with a wonderful floor plan and numerous beautiful details. The wood walls, woodwork & furnitue which was custom made to match are detailed & exquisite. An outstanding beautiful home (we have visited numerous such homes) which is exceptional and truly memorable! The mansion takes up a whole city well-manicured block of beautlful grass and trees. A must-see in Pueblo!

Beautiful Museum

By Klysta S |

My mom and I visited the museum with a Groupon. My only complaint was, they had NO IDEA how to accept a Groupon! They didn't believe me about what it was and I had to spend forever logging in online to show them how it works and what it was for. By the time all that got straightened out, it put a damper on our visit. It really is a great place to visit, but just be careful about bringing a Groupon apparently!

Great Victorian house

By Michael M |

A beautifully preserved Victorian era house with some great interpreters. Excellent furnishings and architectural details.

Interesting tour

By Johnny5123 |

The mansion is very interesting and the tour guide was very good. I took off one start because I think they need to return the mummy to Egypt.

Great Tour

By Robyn V |

Thus is a fascinating tour. Lot's of interesting history. We have done this tour a few times and we are never disappointed!

spectacular House Museum

By Linda R |

Rosemount is a spectacular Richardsonian Romnesque home donated to the city of Pueblo CO, and now a museum open for tours. The furnishings and décor items are nearly all original to the house. No one else was there when we were, so it is not crowded like some tours of more famous homes can be. Our docent did not know the answers to my questions that fell outside her usual script, but they were happy to take me to talk with the curator in her office. I am an antique dealer and tour old homes all over the country, so I notice and ask questions the average tourist wouldn't. One of the best houses I've seen. If you love old homes it is a gem worth visiting.

Pleasant trip back in time.

By jenni m |

We took a group tour during the Christmas Season of this 37 room mansion. Learned about the history of the home as well as the Thatcher's that lived in the home until the 60's. The guide was fabulous and knowledgeable. This was my first time here and I enjoyed it. Was very affordable and the tour was just over an hour.

Victorian Rosewalk Visit

By JadesJewels |

Took my inlaws to see this gem! Everyone enjoyed the beautiful home, the Rosewalk and the tour guide, Ginger was awesome. The home is a dream for anyone who enjoys grand homes about 24,000 sq feet featuring 37 rooms.

Some of our favorite things are the woodwork, original gorgeous fireplaces, use of decorative artwork throughout (stenciling, hand painted ceilings, the plaster moldings, the painted glass windows and custom furnishings.) The tour was about an hour and a half - well worth the money because it appeals to both men and women of all ages. The collections are interesting additions especially the mummy...

Family outing

By pld65 |

This is a hidden gem in Pueblo. Lots of history and fantastic antiques. The tour was fabulous, the information was outstanding

Beautiful, historic, authentic, informative -- worth your time

By Diane K |

What a beautiful old mansion. The docents are knowledgeable about the home and the Thatcher family. The woodwork, furniture, painted ceilings, fixtures -- almost everything is authentic and original. What a wonderful historic home right in the middle of Pueblo. If you like history, antiques, or good stories, this is a great place to visit.

Worth every penny

By Donna S |

This house has been meticulously preserved through the family, and 90% of what's in there was owned and used by the family. The docents are knowledgeable and friendly, and the 90-minute tour was a delight. There are stairs but also an elevator, so very user-friendly.

By Carolyn S |

When I travel, I always check out the old home tours. So it was a very pleasant surprise to find this one in my own town. The history and woodwork in this place is just stunning. Highly recommend.

By EvaV44 |

We went there for the special Christmas tour. It was beautifully decorated and the woman who gave our tour was very good and had a lot of knowledge of the home and the family, Really enjoyed it.

A Must See in Pueblo

By Deb D |

This place is amazing. The staff and tour guides were so helpful and friendly. The house is intact with nearly all original artifacts from the family who lived there. Everything is in perfect condition and you get up close to so many things. Great tour filled with information. We loved it. Will plan to visit for Christmas, which I bet is spectacular.

Terribly rude and disrespectful staff who provide incorrect information!

By savyrivka |

I would like to start this off by saying that I have worked in several museums in guest relations, customer service, and docent positions. I love museums, and have visited them all over the world. I have never seen or heard of the kind of treatment we received when we attempted to visit this museum. I had heard about Rosemount from another docent at a museum I used to work at and had been wanting to visit. Since it was a two hour drive from where I live I waited over a year before finally planning the trip down on my birthday. I checked the website to make sure they would be open, and brought the flyer my friend had given me. All said the last tour left at 3:30pm, pretty standard. Since it was such a long drive down, I thought to call ahead to ensure that they were indeed open. The person who answered explained that they had a car show outside, which meant half price tours without guides, but that docents would be in each room to answer questions. It sounded great! So we made our way down and arrived a little before 2:30pm with plenty of time to see the museum. To our utter shock it was closed, but we could see people inside. We immediately called and were told that they closed early due to the special event (something that we were not informed of when we called ahead!). We explained that we had called ahead and made a long drive just to see the museum. The person on the other end just kept saying “There is nothing I can do. I don’t know who you talked to.” So we asked to talk to a supervisor, which she refused. We then asked what her position was, and she hung up on us!!!! Unbelievable! People visit from out of town, and come from far away to visit these historic places. If we do everything in our power to get the correct information and the staff make a mistake, the least they could do is apologize! I would caution strongly against visiting this museum, as there is no way to ensure that whatever information you get regarding their operations is correct, and the staff, or at least the person we talked to, are extremely rude!

Don't miss this very reasonably priced tour!

By Louise M |

This museum was an unexpected delight! Everything was so well maintained and the history was really interesting. It is hard to describe how beautiful this place really was. The interior was staggering to look at! Unfortunately they don't allow photos inside so you'll have to take my word for it. The tour guide gave us a long and detailed tour and we never felt rushed. We were told that the furnishings were 85% original, which is almost unheard of for the age of the museum. We will be back with our family some day.

An interesting stop

By jen |

Very well preserved home that clearly has been well cared for. Very friendly staff. A real Surprise to find in the middle of the city.

Worth The Time

By Clint S |

The tour of this beautiful home is worth more than the price of admission. Gorgeous wood work thru out. Most furnishings original to home. Tour guide very knowledgeable. If in Pueblo this is a must see.

Beautiful home from the early 1890’s

By Afmeadows66 |

Beautiful home built in the 1890’s. The detail of the wood work is amazing. Most things there are original. So interesting to see the communication and hot water systems in place at that time. Well worth the visit.

I Left My Heart at The Rosemount

By TravelSecrets78 |

I’m at a loss for words to describe The Rosemount. The building is gorgeous inside and out, the furnishings breathtaking, the grounds beautiful and the special and often Free events from the car show to live music & ice cream social to Easter Egg hunt, Halloween and so many more... plus daily tours and my favorite is Christmas! I also love their gift shop. Membership is so reasonable too. It’s a unique museum with many treasures from the mummy in the attic to the painted glass window in the entry. Don’t miss this.

Beautiful Pueblo Home with history

By mommy245 |

We have been to the Rosemount several times with our Children. It is beautiful during Christmas with the decorations. A lot of Pueblo family history to be enjoyed by all.

Majestic

By TravelSecrets78 |

The docents are volunteers, but they know their history & details as a professional. This was such a magical tour & I could see how life was back then. Beautiful!

Fascinating!!

By CalicoLil |

The tour was fantastic and the docent was very knowledgeable !
A thorough look at the Thatcher family and the times in which they lived as well as the history of the construction of the house, what was happening in Pueblo and the west during that time.
Amazing that the original fixtures and furnishings of the house have been so well preserved showing the opulence, practicality,
and every day workings of the estate.
After the tour and you've learned a few things, imagine yourself living in this fine home during it's hey day- I can assure you many hours will be spent in this imaginatory world and wondering
"what if".

Spectacular interior with excellent docent tour

By TWF |

The drive from Colorado Springs just to see this home was worth it. The structure is intricate and entertaining. The rooms are filled with original pieces owned by the family. The docents are very professional and very knowledgeable. One of the best stately home tours we've taken.

Phenomenal.

By Banealgul |

This place is incredible, history, finest craftsmanship my eyes have seen... Went next door to the Carriage House, this is, out of the two weeks of my Colorado visit, my best dining experience... Had a pot pie made from scratch, my wife had salmon over pasta. The pot pie was so good I would sell my soul for the recipe. My wife loved her salmon so much she still talks about it to all her friends. The ambience of the carriage house is classy Victorian, the staff is professional, thorough and laid back. We enjoyed getting questions answered about pueblo history while enjoying a glass of Pinot noir paired perfectly with a delectable slice of chocolate cake. Thank you for capping off a great vacation!!!

This is one of the best Museum I've been . I learned something in every room. The docents couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. I recommend highly!

Beautiful Victorian Home

If you like me are interested in Victorian homes this mansion is a beautiful example. The museum showcases Victorian architecture at its best. the home has the finest examples of woodwork as well as beautiful stained glass and is beautifully kept. The tour is well worth the time.

Do not miss the Christmas holidays!

By Marsha M |

It is wonderful anytime during the year and I have visited more than a few times. If at all possible be sure to return for the Christmas Holidays it is wonderful.

Loved every second!

By Colleen C |

My husband and I stopped to tour the Rosemount, and it was truly one of my favorite experiences of our entire trip to Colorado/Utah. We started our tour at 1:30, and because of COVID, it was just the two of us and a young tour guide. Because the house was so empty (of guests), she allowed us to really take our time in each room, answering a ton of questions I had, and not rushing us. It was amazing to really be able to study at length the beautiful craftsmanship evident throughout the home, and the authentic pieces in the home gave you a really good sense of who this family was and what was important to them. The innovations in the house were truly impressive as well (like the intercom system!). By the time we finished, we realized they were waiting for us to be done so they could close for the day, lol! They were all wonderful about it, however, and even let us purchase some items from the gift shop before closing up behind us. I loved every last second of this tour.

So worth it

By Annette B |

For those times when you need to stop, take a deep breath and go back in time. It was so easy to imagine yourself at the big dining table with friends/family. Almost all the furniture and accessories are original - it's like you sneaked in to nose about while the family was out. HA! We're from MO...yeah, the 'show me' state, but we will definitely go back to visit when we return to Pueblo.

Very Interesting

By cole s |

Very interesting guided tour and with the original furnishings, which really brought their original lifestyles to life. Very reasonable price.

Wonderful Step Back In Time

By goodwill246 |

I went here with my teenagers and we all loved it! You really did feel like you stepped back in time. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and pleasant and did a great job. The mansion is indeed a mansion - especially when you think that it was built in 1893! The wood work, tiling, ceilings and fixtures are all in pristine condition. I definitely wouldn't miss this if you are ever in Pueblo. Another extra nice feature was that there was a museum within a museum - on the third floor there was a small museum from a local collector that included an Egyptian mummy and other rare items. My teenagers are still talking about the experience. I highly recommend the Rosemount Museum.

One of my families favorite historic museums

By Jennifer G |

Pueble has a beautiful surprise treasure in this Historic Mansion. If you are looking for something to do this would be an afternoon or morning well spent. This was our second visit to the museum - and we will go back again when in the area. This time we were there during the "Wedding and Roses" showcase I think one guess called it, so throughout the museum were well placed period wedding gowns and fresh flowers which added to the great feel of this magnificent home that is as much a grand showcase now as I'm sure it was when it was built. BEAUTIFUL! A few surprises on the upper servants floor too that are a one of kind and unexpected find in this location. Well educated and enthusiastic docents that dealt with a family without acting put out - after all our children need to be exposed to our history too! I will remember all the beautiful detailed craftsmanship and luxury of this gem of it's time I hope for years to come.

Interesting

By roberthR1238IZ |

Best time to tour the Rosemount Museum is during the Christmas season. Rooms are decorated and they are so pretty. The docents are very informative and I didn't realize how much history one old house has. This is worth the time to visit.

A piece of Local and Southern Colorado History not to miss

By ron S |

So many of these 1800's mansions have either fallen in to disrepair or been torn down. Not only is this not the case here it is full of the families furniture. This is a grand home of the Thatcher Family. They started as merchants and ended up owning a number of Banks in Southern Colorado. Some of the neat things to see are a intercom system from various parts of the home to the kitchen. Large master bath, 10 fireplaces. Lights that were both electric and Gas because the power shut down at 9:00pm. Sitting on a hill overlooking Pueblo. Parking can be a challenge as it sits next to a large Hospital. But don't let that stop you from seeing this beautiful Home, now a museum

Beautiful

By sheerinfam |

Would have been nice to not have to start tour over for late arrivals. Also they had wedding dresses all over the house for the month. Took away from the ambiance of this beautiful home.

Beautiful old home where the owner thought of everything! 85% of furnishings are original to the home!

By Lonna T |

What a treat to wander through this lovely old home all decorated for Halloween! Our guide was a local young woman who had first volunteered here when she was 12. She's 19 now! We were amazed how no expense was spared in the design. There was even a cabinet with dividers just for table leaves! There is "borrowed" light! I had not seen this, but high windows are placed in rooms that are bright to allow light to pass into the dark halls or closets! Great idea! We saw nearly every room in the hour tour! The built ins, doors, walls, floors all built with care! Ten fireplaces--all different! See it, you won't be disappointed.

Interesting history

By blessedinlife |

Beautiful historic home that was lived in by a fascinating family. Had lunch in the Carriage House Restaurant prior to the tour. We had a large group (12) which made it difficult for all to hear and enjoy the tour, 6 people max would be ideal.

By Wendy H |

Guides were knowledgable and friendly. The family history made the tour. Grounds are beautiful too.

Memorable Victorian Mansion - Not one snapshot!

By Dan A |

The docent has been showing the mansion for nearly 20 years. She is extremely knowledgeable and still enjoys sharing the remarkable features of Rosemount and the fascinating family history. The design of the building and construction is a work of art. The staggering detail, especially in the woodwork, is extraordinary. Eighty-five percent of the furnishings are original including Tiffany & Company lighting and Wanamakers furniture. The Victorian Period opulence is jaw dropping and transports one back to an unknown epoch and lifestyle. The tour is time well spent. However, walking away without a single snapshot is disheartening.

Fantastic tour of this mansion

By texgal50 |

I have always wanted to get inside one of these large mansions built back in the day. So my husband & I finally got to tour this one, 24,000 square feet of it. Most all the furnishings are still there just like when the family lived in it. The woodwork alone is spectacular, you really felt like you were back in time. It was fantastic to tour & learn about the family that built it & lived in it.

Fantastic Architecture and Pueblo History

By Andrew D |

It is unusual to tour a historic home with its original furniture. The place is amazing and the collections and furnishing were really interesting. I must also comment that I had a great volunteer tour guide! My tour was A+++.

Incredible Wood Work

By Kim C |

Built in the late 1800's most of he homes furniture and décor are all original. Amazing to see how well built and maintained the home was. The stained glass windows and tile work at the entrance were incredible. There is a tour guide to show you around the home and to articulate certain aspects of the home structure, décor and significance of various décor and protocol. I found it amazing that there is an actual elevator inside the home.

A fantastic gem under our noses.

By Dgholden |

We had some friends in from California and were looking for something unique to do with them. We took them to my ancestral home of Pueblo.

My wife and I have traveled extensively in Europe and love history. This was a very affordable guided tour of an amazing property that rivals many thins we have seen across the pond.

This mansion is impressive. The attention to detail in the construction was spectacular. While the home is beautiful, the story of the Thatcher family is woven in to the house fabric. The story will make your visit more rewarding.

It blew us away that our tour guide was only a junior in high school. His presence, knowledge and approach were excellent.

Nice to see the way it was.

By Van42 |

Excellent tour! Enjoyed every minute of it. The Rosemont Museum is very well kept and well run example of Pueblo's past. The guise we had was very knowledgeable on the subject of the mansion.

Very nice Victorian era Mansion

By James C |

This is a very nice museum that is tour driven. The tour talks about the family that lived there and gives a great history story for the mansion. I highly recommend it. Seamus was very delightful as our tour guide.

Beautiful home

By Tad |

This was very unexpected in the middle of the city. I loved seeing how people lived back then & getting the history of the home & area. I can't wait to go back in December to sed it all decked out in period decorations.

Magnificent Tour Destination

By Okinawa5658 |

A rarity in home museum tours, over 80% of the furnishings, etc., are original to the house which became a museum in 1969 after the owner passed away in 1968. Our tour guide (docent) was well informed, and gave us time to look at the items she pointed out on all three floors. I think we used three different staircases! There is an elevator available for those who need one and also a wheelchair lift to get from ground level to the entry porch.
