We were so excited to visit these falls while in Sisters! This hike was very easy and beautiful! We started at Clear Lake and went up to the McKenzie River (bathrooms at this point). Beauty hits you in every direction on this hike. The water in the streams was crystal clear, and the falls were beyond gorgeous! You can hike right up on top of the falls as well. It was the perfect hike for a perfect afternoon!

A beautiful place to take an easy walk, good for all ages. The falls are amazing and the trails are well maintained.

Very easy access. Parking lot is a short distance from turn. Short easy walk in Magic forest scenery opens to breathtaking rushing, roaring waterfall. I took a video to capture the sound.

Short and easy walk leads to two beautiful falls. Easy parking too. Worth the stop if you're going across Hwy 20.

the falls are beautiful; Sahalie is quite close to the parking lot; but then one needs to hike down a half-mile to see Koosah falls [there is a campground near it also.] the terrain is not too rough.

Amazing day trip. Plan out your day and visit other stops on way to falls. Relaxing.Go mid-week, in the spring or fall.

This is my favorite hike in Oregon. You can hike in a loop around both sides of the river. Both falls are spectacular.

Visited both these falls. The trails are well maintaine. For the most part seen a short distance from the highway. Watch carefully for the signage as it it easy to pass these waterfalls!

We parked at Sahalie and walked down towards Koosah. Would love to have done the whole trail, but we didn't know how far it was and were on a tight schedule. What we did see was great! Scenic waterfalls and river, and lovely easy trail. My only complaint would be with the toilets at the Sahalie carpark. Absolutely disgusting!

We took our 4 kids ages 6-13 and our dog. The falls are a short walk. The views are beautiful. There are some places along the river where a picnic would have been nice. It’s nice and cool along the river. The views are gorgeous. We went on a week day and it wasn’t that busy. We went by on a weekend and it was packed. It was a lot of fun.

This is a great place to go see and is not a hard hike at all, anyone can get down to this to see it.

I suspect this is what everyone's perfect image of a waterfall and a roaring river looks like.
The falls are amazing, but the McKenzie river is absolutely stunning. Roaring over rocks with amazing power. Today the water was a striking blue, and it has a healing affect to stare and watch the flow.
The trail down is fine, but there are a lot of steps. The people coming down the trail included everyone from children to seniors. The dogs seem to really enjoy it too.
Its a nice hike and well worth the time to stop and observe nature at its wildest!

These are a great little hike. Very easy to the more difficult it has room for every ability. The views are spectacular! It's a good way to cool off on a hot day.

My friends and I decided to visit the Falls as we drove from Eugene. Sahalie Falls was truly inspiring!. The area still had lots of snow, which made the trip even cooler! The Falls were beautiful. Due to the snow cover we could not completely explore everything. I recommend that you visit in the summer.

Make sure you walk to both falls, it's an easy hike that youngsters can do. Lovely views! God's majesty at it's finest. In the heat of July this was a perfect stop to cool down by the mist of the falls.

My daughter and I parked just east of Clear Lake. We hiked around one side of the lake, and door planning on our own the trail to Sahallie falls. We didn't get as far as Koosah falls, as winter days are short, and we didn't make it back to our car until after dark. (Poor planning and late start) Wouldn't have traded the day for anything though. Clear lake is a astonishing beauty. Only second to Crater Lake in my opinion. The hike between the lake and the falls is easy, No. a lot of climbing, although there is a point where you cross the highway, but it is in an open area, and that was easy. If you are concerned about that, you can park at each individual spot. Work the trip. About an hour from Sisters, and about an hour from Eugene.

Wel worth the drive if you are in the Sisters area. About 35 miles west from Sisters on Hwy 126 towards Eugene, is this gem of a Nature walk. Approximately 3 miles of easy trail walking and you see two beautiful waterfalls with blue, blue water. Take the time to see this, or even to stop at Clear Lake a wonderfully clean and clear water lake where you can see 100' into the lake.

This is a nice place to stop and see the waterfalls that are easily accessible and within a short walking distance from the parking lot.

This is my favorite hike in the world (so far). Its about 3 miles round trip. Easy enough for kids (not stroller friendly). The river and the two huge waterfalls are Spectacular!

Very scenic and easy to access waterfalls. Great for families! It's usually very busy and parking can overflow, so go early. Parking at Koosah and walking the trail to Sahalie is always nice.

This may be the best place to see some great falls in Oregon. 2 falls that both have their own charm and viewpoints with only about a 10 minute hike between them. The hike is also gorgeous and pretty relaxing. Just perfect.

Over the course of a 12 day/3000+ mile driving tour including the redwood forests of Northern California, up the Oregon coast and winding back down through central Oregon, the Sahalie Falls hike was a highlight of our trip. If you're familiar with the redwoods and highway 101 up the Oregon coast, you know that says a lot. From the trailhead parking lot, we began the 2.6 mile loop hike clockwise, following the "Waterfall Trail" signs until emerging from the heavy tree canopy at a small reservoir. Turn right at the gravel road and walk 75-100 yards until you see a small "Trail" sign and a narrow foot path leading back into the woods. This part of the loop is called the "Mckenzie River Trail". The first 10 minutes or so of this section is rough hiking over rocks and roots before you emerge next to the river again. After another mile or so, cross the narrow foot bridge and turn right, following the trail back to the parking area. Along the loop, periodic views of Sahalie and Koosah falls are spectacular but the Mckenzie River itself steals the show. We've criss crossed the U.S. and Canada and many parts of the world and have never seen a river so blue. It almost doesn't look real. Like Disneyland blue water. In fact, we "Googled" Mckenzie River blue water in an (unsuccessful) attempt to learn why the water takes on such a unique color. Anyway, as an amateur photographer, I spent way more time completing the loop than anticipated due to the many stops along the way to photograph the beautiful cascades and minor falls. If you're a photographer, try to make your way down some of the very narrow but well trodden paths down to the edge of the river, particularly on the first half of the hike (if walking clockwise). There are some views of the river and old growth forest canopy that are amazing. We're already planning another trip to Oregon and will go out of our way if necessary to visit this amazing river.

Start at Koosah Falls (5 miles East of Sahalie) That way you do most of the uphill hiking at the begining of the Waterfalls Hike. There are many steps and, signs and even a nice log bridge along your way but the highlight for us was sitting on the opposite side of the entrance to Koosah Falls for lunch. Your view of the falls is much prettier here but there are many scenic stops along this rushing river. We went the last week in April and there were still quite a few patches of snow but you could still see the trail ( would'nt suggest going any earlier) by the footprints in the snow!

These are thunderous and majestic falls by the main highway, there is plenty of space around to park and it's a nice easy hike for a postcard type of picture.

There is really not much more you can say, except fantastic, special, amazing, refreshing, beautiful, gorgeous, and so on ..... when it comes to this place. It’s a short walk off the road and the small parking, it’s far enough from major locations that there is hardly ever big crowds here and the loop hiking trail allows you to explore and see both historic falls, the calm waters at the revisor at the bottom, and various beautiful and magnificent large trees in their natural environment. The entire hike down and up including short excursions and photo opportunities took well under 2 hours.
We were so lucky with the weather and the abundance of water coming through from the melting snow and natural underground springs.
I want us to go back again sometime soon and see this place again.

You have to cross over the first pass going west on US 20 and then take route 126 to get to these falls. It is well worth the drive. They are located on a spring fed river, so the flow is rather constant. Both are a short walk from their respective parking lots. They are surrounded by lots of green plants and are quite pretty to look it. Koosah is a short distance downstream from Sahalie, making it a short drive between them, or one can walk on a trail that is there.

A lot of people don't know but you an loop around the river via a bridge and come right back to where you started. Easy hike, but it can be slippery.

What a pretty place. Just off highway 126. A very short walk from parking lot. Parking lot has bathrooms great driving break.

We visited both falls on a chilly rainy afternoon in early October. Both were a short walk from the parking lots and both were flowing really well due to the rain. The rain must have driven away most of the other tourists as at times we had both falls to ourselves.
Both falls were just gorgeous! It makes sense why the parking lots fill so frequently in the summer.

Take the short hike from the parking lot to Sahalie and Koosah Falls. Maintained trail to both falls. The first of the two is only an easy 50 yards from the parking lot. The falls are accessible in all weather, however, spring is absolutely beautiful. The crystal blue water, trails, moss covered trees provide a perfect photo op. This is a hike for the entire family of all ages. Well worth the trip, its truly awesome. The facility also provides clean handicap approved restrooms in the parking lot.

Slanted, paved trail with some steps to waterfall, on-site parking, porta-potty, if I recall. Pretty falls. Adventuresome can take trail down to it, I think. Bring camera, takes about 15 minutes for a walk and see, not much else there but that and river views.

You can walk from one falls to another, they are close. You can also pull off the highway to see each. Both a short walk from the parking lots. So beautiful, even my kids were impressed. The forest around it is enchanting as well. Lots of other beautiful things to see in the area. Stop here, it only takes a few minutes.

Took a small hike today as we had our 1 and 4 year old in tow.
Sahalie Falls was breathtaking.
The trails were kept magnificently clean.
We didn't go far as the stairs became too steep for the children.
Whay little we did hike was beautiful.
Through the trees you could catch a wonderful glimpse of the water rushing by.
I didn't think Koosah Falls were as beautiful but again, the trails were in magnificent shape and the views were beautiful.

We stopped here on our way from Hood River to Sutherlin. (The drive alone is quite scenic.) Both falls were easily accessible and incredible to see. It's easier to get closer to the top of Koosah than it is Sahalie, but the top of Sahalie is definitely reachable with a short walk. Don't miss these falls!

The 1.5 mile hike alongside these 3 waterfalls was one of the highlights of my life in terms of nature (I’ve done a lot of nature stuff in my life). It was not crowded when we were there and it was also not raining. The trail is pretty easy but does demand some stepping down stairs that are not evenly spaced (of course.....) The trail maintenance folks did a great job here.
To see the water flowing over the edge from about 20 feet away is simply stunning. Gorgeous forest.
Enjoy!

Visiting with family so they knew where to take us. These falls are a must see, if there's a heaven, this must be the place......breathtaking!

After seeing Proxy Falls, we decided to keep driving to see these falls. They are very close to each other. There are walking paths to get to the falls. They are both very beautiful.

This is a beautiful hike with access to amazing waterfalls and pools. As it is so popular, I was only disappointed at seeing litter and many people disregarding the closed areas to walk off trails to get closer to the falls, including a group of young adults who tracked down a slope despite the posted signs to restrict access. This during a time when many rangers were distracted by dealing with the recent forest fires. So very sad when parks like these are created for all of us to enjoy with the trust we will take good care of it when we visit.

What a gorgeous hiking trail! The waterfalls are absolutely beautiful! Many opportunities for great photos! A must see if you are in the area!

I had always thought the best Oregon waterfalls were alongside the Columbia River outside Portland. I know have to say that these two waterfalls more then hold there own. It is worth hiking the entire loop trail that visits both falls on both sides of the river. The perspective of both falls on the west side of the trail is completely different then the east side. It is an epic hike that is not too long nor to difficult since you are stopping a lot to snap photos and say wow.

The 4 of us took the 3 mile waterfall loop trail and it was one of the most beautiful hikes we have ever been on. The trees were wonderful, the trail was well marked, the waterfalls spectacular - and you get to see them from all sides (both sides of the river, top and bottom). But the most beautiful part were the many blue and green colors of the river as it changed from rushing rapids to fairly calm pools. I have never seen a river with that many different hues. There is a bit of up and down all through the hike so I would considerate it somewhat moderate but not to be missed!

Park your car a the Sahalie Falls parking lot. The waterfall is right next to the parking lot and you will be blown away with it's beauty. Definitely continue on the trail along the river to the Koosah Falls. It's about 1/2 mile. Don't give up, the Koosah Falls are even more impressive.

These falls are beautiful. The walks to each of these falls is easy. Definitely work the stop to view these falls. The parking is limited at Sahalie Falls and very limited to Koosah Falls. Park at Sahalie and hike the short loop trail.
Don't forget to visit the Blue Pool. Enter through the Trail Bridge trailhead for the access off the 740 Rd is not accessible due to the fire closure area.

Been here in every season and it’s always beautiful! Great hike or great to stop and stretch your legs for a minute while traveling.

Both Sahalie and Koosah Fals are a very short distance from the parking lot. They are easily accessible to those with mobility issues and absolutely beautiful. If you have some time, take the walk along the river that connects the two water falls. It's worth it!

Oregon has so many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. The day we picked to visit the falls was perfect with beautiful weather and the shades of fall surrounding it all. Fairly easy walk to reach the sites, but views at Sahalie are very accessible.

What a surprise! Two beautiful waterfalls, easy to walk to from parking lot. No excuse for anyone not to stop. If only one, go to Sahalie Falls....easy walk, much better views. Koosah Falls is hard to see...tall trees cover up most of view.

Stumbled upon the turn off to Sahalie Falls on the road back to Eugene from Bend. So glad we stopped to see it! There seemed to be enough parking for the number of visitors. It was a pretty short but absolutely gorgeous path to the first Falls. Very green and lush. The path was easy and paved at least part of the way. Beyond the Sahalie Falls, the path is not paved but it is also pretty easy. We did not allow enough time to see Koosah Falls, but what we did see was spectacular!

Amazing falls and very easy for all ages to get to. Parking right next to trail. If you are able go on the trail to the right to see top of falls in addition to the left trail to the bottom. ⛰

So beautiful. My family and I love going here for a relaxing hike. And not too difficult, my 4 year old loved it!

The falls are beautiful and the drive from Bend oregon is beautiful ! The trail to the falls is wheelchair / stroller/walker accessible with assistance in some spots. You can hear the falls from the parking lot. There are a few steps but switchbacks are available as alternate route. You can get close to falls and see them in a wheelchair, the trail to koosha falls is not wheelchair friendly but you can drive to it( 1/4 mike down rd from falls) and see them. Another short accessible trail to great view of falls from a wheelchair. Steep so be careful. But beautiful and accessible.

When we visited the map showed the falls east of Sisters! I see it's been moved in the right direction but it's still not correct. The falls are on HWY 126 below Clear Lake and just upstream from Carmen Reservoir. Nice pair of falls, easy hike, just a lot further away from Bend than we expected!

It was a cold February morning but we wanted to hike! After checking different reviews we decided to try this hike! We parked at the Koosah Falls parking lot and were very quickly greeted with a stunning sight! Koosah Falls plunges with ferocity and power! The trail is easy and the viewing area great! The trail continues on to Sahlie Falls. There were hikers of all ages on the trail. It started snowing as we approached Sahalie. There was one spot that was super icy which made for stunning photos but caution required on the steps! Don't miss this hike! Just about 2ish miles around trip.

Easy steps to view. Wonderful falls, 2 actually . Moss covered grounds look like velvet. Rails . Parking lot not large but was not crowded.

Very lovely, It was a short walk to falls, very easy. It was worth the stop if you are driving by, bring your camera!

Fantastic! A nice hike and beautiful views! Don't miss this one! I can't think of a better place to stretch your legs on a road trip!

We hiked this trail yesterday, the full loop all the way around. It was fairly easy, just a couple of places were a little harder.
The waterfalls were so beautiful and the color of the water, a deep blue, was gorgeous. The woods are mossy green, lots of lichen, fungi - lots to look at.
Such a beautiful place!

WOW; it doesn’t get much more beautiful than hiking these two falls! Well marked with many wood stairs, the trail is easy to navigate and the scenery is just spectacular. If you are anywhere near Sisters or Bend, this is a Must-Do adventure for the whole family,

Plenty of hiking trails, free, and astonishing views of these waterfalls!! Water is crystal clear and trails are well paved and easy to navigate. This is just south of Sisters, and a great day activity, with plenty of pictures to be had and outdoor adventure! Stairs in some areas, hiking trails are easy to moderate, but well worth exploring!

Both waterfalls are close to the parking areas, but you can also walk between the two for an even more scenic experience. It's the Pacific Northwest at its best.

Hiked the trail from the Clear Lake Resort to both water falls. It was a hot afternoon, but most of the trail is adjacent to the river where the temperature is significantly cooler. It's an easy hike for those who are accustomed to walking a few miles. The falls are just an example of Oregon's beauty.

Haven't been in winter but in summer and fall it is a very pretty easy hike, great place to bring lunch and relax in the woods!

The hike to through the falls trail was fairly mild. The falls are definitely worth the walk. Nature’s beauty at it’s finest.

For the highly energetic hiker to the novice who just likes to walk in the woods, this 3-mile loop will please everyone. It's not completely flat....there are some stairs that my mixed-level group preferred to climb up (rather than the jarring on the knees when descending), and often the pathway is littered with roots and rocks that require one's attention. But mostly, it was pine needle-strewn trails through some lovely woods.
There are gorgeous waterfalls, with a huge number of various and safe lookout points along the way, and you will love coming upon water-cooled air pockets unexpectedly....ahhhh, so cooling and refreshing! There are also some very large trees, some fallen that now form a footbridge, and one that has a set of wooden stairs built over it. There are even restrooms available about halfway through the hike.
Remember to wear good shoes, and to bring a little snack for yourself with some water....a little energy food can always help boost up lagging legs!! And while it's a popular hiking trail and thus quite a few people on it, most cluster around the waterfalls and you are able to find peace in the woods themselves. Do allow yourself to experience the quiet, the smells, the serenity of these woods!....it will be a very memorable time for you in Nature.

Drove from Medford to escape the summer smoke and it was way worth it. Short hike but worth it! The Falls, the incredibly blue water, super family/kid friendly.... just incredible.

Me and my hubs aren't exactly the epitome of fit and we made the loop no problem! Even took our two pups. If you have limited mobility each falls is also accessible from two different parking lots. Easy walks with regarding views!

Kooskah Falls can be hiked to, known as the lower falls. . . . if you starting your walk at the McKenzie River parking lot scenic viewpoint off Hwy 126. Sahalie Falls is the upper falls & the main attraction.Paved walkway takes you a short distance from car to the Sahalie Falls. You can also hike a ¼ mi trail up the east side to the top of Sahalie falls for a breathtaking view of the McKenzie River in all it's glory.
What a sight & a perfect place to go for a cool summer afternoon walk. The trails are in great shape. It's still challenging to climb down to Kooskah Falls & then back up. You may need your headband or walking poles. Some folks ride their bikes, not so cool for hikers. Places along the way to stop & admire the sounds & sights of water and green vegetation. Photographers go wild with possibilities, the sound of the water drowns out all other noise. Big Douglas Firs and Cedar trees surround you, stunning moss & vine maples. Places to sit along the trail to enjoy the wonders of blue clear water. You can spend 15 minutes to all afternoon taking this in. Great anytime of the year.

We stopped first at the Sahalie Parking Area right off the highway and followed the trails to the overlooks below and above the falls. The views of the falls were stunning and the forest was greener than anything I’ve ever seen. We then drove down to the Koosah Falls parking and almost drove right by it. Once we made our way to the much smaller parking area we enjoyed views of the impressive falls from various vantage points. Following the trail along the trail leading up to Sahalie Falls is worth the walk as the scenery along the river is enchanting and the sounds sublime. Don’t miss it.

These two falls are among the most beautiful in Oregon (especially in the Spring). The falls are a short distance off of Highway 126. The turnoff to Sahalie Falls parking lot is well marked. The turnoff to Koosah Falls (a few miles south of Sahalie Falls) is harder to spot. The trail to each one is easy and not far from the parking lots. There are several stunning viewpoints for taking pictures. Well worth stopping to stretch your legs.

Loved this hike, beautiful along the entire trail. Great for pictures. Another no cost and fun adventure.

This is easy to see right off the highway. Gorgeous, nice well-maintained trail.

I had already hiked 20 miles and saw some great falls, I nearly decided to skip this but I am so glad i did not. I arrived early about 8:00. No one was there. I stayed two hours and only a few people came by. It was so beautiful and peaceful and yet the power of the water is heard and felt. They let you scramble around a bit to find the best views. Usually such controlled spots do not.

You can do a short hike or long if you like. Both falls are pretty easy to get to. After trying to get to tumalo falls and finding the road closed we found these falls to visit. Not very big but beatiful to see.

A beautiful hike that shows two awesome Mackenzie waterfalls! You start at Sahalie, which is right off of Hwy 126 near Sisters. After viewing the cool falls from the established viewpoint, you can begin the 1.5 mile hike down to Koosah. You see beautiful water that so clear and cold that it's ice blue and flows fast.
Koosah Falls are just as beautiful and amazing as Sahalie. This hike is definitely worth the trip!

Beautiful views along a moderate, well-marked trail. The forest is lush and refreshing, though the high number of visitors will not allow you to feel secluded in nature. All the same, these falls rival any in the Columbia River Gorge in beauty, even though they may not be as tall. I recommend adding a visit to nearby Clear Lake, where the McKenzie River first emerges from expired lava tubes under the Earth's surface.

Amazing waterfalls and great trails. Highly recommend doing the loop and going to both!
- Plently of parking (if you take the loop, you can park at either one, so park at the first one you can and if there isn’t a spot you can park at the next one)
- Pit toilets: the most foul pit toilets I have been to and I’ve done a lot of hiking
- Easy trail with views of the river the whole way
- Somewhat crowded

While we were hiking the trails from Clear Lake we came across these beautiful Falls approximately 4.5 miles very nice this time of year plenty of water flowing over the Falls what a spectacular sight to see definitely worth the visit.

This is a great stop on route 126, there is plenty of parking, restrooms, the falls are really pretty and the loop trail is a great hike. The scenery is beautiful with old douglas firs and the trail isn't too difficult. A walking stick is helpful but not absolutely required.

Well worth the stop to see both falls or the hike on the trail connecting the two falls. Easy access off highway and well marked. Available parking and restrooms at each site. Expect a series of stairs to get to the viewing areas. Both viewing areas give you superb views of the falls. Highly recommend a stop at these two falls. Much more water than Proxy Falls.

We have many visitors to our home in Sisters. Our "tour route" to share the best of Central Oregon includes Sahalie and Koosah Falls. The falls are spectacular and beautiful! The walk along the McKenzie River between the two falls is peaceful, ever changing depending on the season and water levels, and always relaxing. You can meander between the falls, or take a more energetic hike across the river to the other side. Whatever you chose, it's a treat.

The falls were totally worth the drive. There were very few people and it was easy to get some great pictures.

Very easy walk through the forest. The falls and especially the stream are beautiful. Very popular attraction with limited parking.

Went last week. We were easily able to see the first waterfall but there was snow on the trail (late April) and too difficult to walk in althetic shoes to the second waterfall (most who continued had boots and walking sticks). Still worth stopping to see.

If you're in Central Oregon, take the time to visit SahLie Falls. The view are spectacular. It's an easy 3 (or so) mile hike around the falls. The colors are simply amazing.

Off 126 biway, go park in the clearly marked Sahalie and Koosah Falls lot. Walk for about 30 seconds on the path and see the most northern waterfall of the two, the Sahalie waterfall. You will think you died and went to heaven. Absolutely one of the most beautiful waterfalls, and it is very, very powerful with mist blowing all around you at some points. The trail around the falls shows you nearly every aspect of the falls. The water is incredibly blue in some areas. Your trail south goes within a foot or two of the gushing river. When you walk for about 30 minutes, you'll come across the Koosah Falls too. Keep walking past that falls, the very end of this trail is where you want to start, with the photo opportunities being the best on the most southern part. The Koosah Falls is twice as deep and incredible. You just have to go. Spend 2 to 3 hours doing this easy hike that skirts the falls and is quite easy to navigate. When you backtrack toward the parking lot, you get to see all the falls again. Unreal!

Absolutely worth the short walk down very nice and maintained path. Being in the forest and hearing the rushing water from the Dallas, just around the corner was so cool. 3 year old did great on the walk.

We went on a snowy day and were disappointed when clear lake route was blocked, but these water falls made my day !! Do visit

This is a great trail to walk- it's easy, beautiful, and a great view/payoff. Everything was so lush and green - it was beautiful! Walk down to Koosah Falls, the trail is very scenic and peaceful. I would recommend this trail to everyone!

We road-tripped through Oregon for spring break, looing for outdoor activities for the family. We hiked a total of 4 waterfalls, and while all were beautiful, this one was our favorite! It's a few steps from the parking lot to see the falls, but there is also a beautiful, fairly easy loop trail where you cross the water and view two other falls. Highly recommend this hike!
(in late March, there was still snow covering most of the trail, but we were fine in regular coats and tennis shoes, we could walk on top of the snow and the grades are not very steep.)

I was driving the McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass Scenic Byway while in the area for the solar eclipse. Unfortunately, the McKenzie Pass was closed due to a wildfire, which also made viewing the surrounding mountains impossible. But this waterfall loop trail was easily accessed from Highway 126. Early in the day, there was almost no one there, so I had all the best viewing platforms and river spots all to myself. The waterfalls are truly spectacular--great for photo enthusiasts like myself. And the McKenzie river is a gem by itself--clear, topaz-blue water, surrounded by lush forest. I spent several hours here just admiring the varied views as I made my way down from Sahalie to Koosah Falls.
There are really at least 3 trails here--one on either side of the river that follows the river closely, with well-maintained steps and boardwalks out to a number of viewing platforms that show off the falls; then a third 'shortcut' trail that follows the road, and will get you quickly from one set of falls to the other.
This stop on Highway 126 is truly worth a stop.

Gorgeous falls with well built trails that will take you directly to perfect viewing spots. I think even someone with limited mobility could manage the gently sloping parts of the trails. Kudos to Oregon for making a beautiful, natural spot accessible. Sahalie Falls is better marked and more visited, but Koosah Falls is just a short distance down the road in a campground and easy to get to as well.

Easy walk from roadside parking lot. Lots of use, but the falls and river are scenic and photo worthy.

Sahalie Falls is just a short, easy trail from the parking lot and even on a very hot day in a dry year, was worth the stop.

We came out here for the day. Easy trails, nice view of water. It was nice to be cool on a hot summer day.

Fantastic scenery. A decent hike with amazing views. Our group was of young adults and all of us greatly enjoyed the falls.

On Way to Sisters stopped by these two falls for photo taking. parking lot was packed at both but drive around a few laps and someone will leave and you'll get a spot. These are two jewels to see.

Stunning waterfalls with easy access. To clarify, Sahalie is right off the parking lot with a view from the top. There is a moderate hike between Sahalie and Koosah (less than 2 miles) but it can be steep and slippery so if you aren’t up for the hike, you can also drive to the Koosah lot and get a pretty good peek at Koosah with minimal hiking.

Easy to get to, both falls were very nice. Koosah is easy to drive by, have to really be looking for the sign. Enjoyed both of them.

I came across these falls while I was looking for the tamolitch. I was very surprised to find these falls just off of the street and a short hike away from each other. It's about a 1.5 hour drive from Eugene, but it is absolutely worth it!!! Bring your camera.
*You will NOT get phone service here, so make sure you know where you're going before going!*

A wonderful hike to some incredible waterfalls. If you go at the beginning of the summer, the snow melt off makes the falls more powerful then at the end of the summer. Anytime you go they are beautiful. Pretty easy hike as you walk along the river but beware of tree roots on the pathway. Highly recommend!

The excellent roadside stop here allows you a front row view of this magnificent falls. Easy access to the site. You can also walk on longer trails that lead all around the falls. The tremendous amount of water flowing is the real amazing thing about this place.

We loved both falls and they were super easy to get to. The little hike/walk from Sahalie to Koosah was easy but beautiful! Lots of moss covered rocks and trees that follow the river trail. Just gorgeous!

Cannot say enough about this place. This fall is very majestic. So peaceful since not many people know about it. A must see if you are over near Sisters.

I had the pleasure to visit these 2 falls during a weekend visit to the area. The walk is short. Only about 2 miles but the 2 waterfalls were great. The river runs right by the path so you can get up close and personal. Great pictures as well. It is also a free parking area. A must if your in the area. Just be aware there is no cell service there.

You can access this falls from at least three different areas, just depends on if you want to throw an easy hike in along the way. We parked at Carmen Reservoir and hiked up to the falls. They have built a couple of nice viewing points for people and the falls never run out. The Spring they are far more full but the spray can get you a little moist. The summer offers less roaring water but the views are still impressive.

If you are in the mood for a great easy hike there is three falls to see. The largest and coolest is close to parking lot and easy to get to.

We enjoyed a very nice hike on both sides of the river. It is a beautiful stretch of water and the falls are quite wonderful. From the parking lot you can walk down past the falls until you get to a bridge to cross over the river just above a reservoir. The trail on the other side is narrower and not as improved. You can follow the trail upstream to another bridge and cross over it to make a loop back to the parking lot. If traveling with children, I would avoid the other side of the river. You may also encounter some mountain bikers on that side. Definitely wear sturdy shoes if you plan to make a hike along the falls.

This is one of our favorite walks. Between two waterfalls following the rushing river the whole way. Just gorgeous for nature lovers.

This is an excellent waterfall to see with little effort. It was still a bit smoky from a fire that had been a south of the area, so the whole place had a otherworldly look to it. It's beautiful and worth a detour to go and see it if you are in the area.

We stopped here for a break in driving.Short distance to Sahalie Falls. Did not make it to Koosah falls as the trail was too difficult for my husband.Gorgeous view of falls.

Easy stop on our drive from Bend to Eugene. Scenic and powerful waterfall visible from lookout steps from the parking lot. Some snow in early May so we didn’t hike the trail to the second waterfall. Definitely worth checking out.

Have some shoes you can get a bit muddy and follow the trail all the way down. You won't be disappointed.

this is a wonderful trail! there two lovely falls with a great trail in between that runs along the river. Just park at whichever falls you come to first(depending upon which direction you are coming from) and then take the walk to the other one. there is some elevation gain but not too much.

If you are nearby, this is a must see! Watch for the sign that says Ice Campground and Koosah Falls. Easy to miss!

I visited these falls for the first time last month and was amazed. I have driven by them for years and never stopped. The 'hike' is very easy and the river is gorgeous.

Great hike from Sahalie to Koosah and back. Easy, and the rush of the McKenzie River and the falls is mind-blowing. One of my favorite hikes in Oregon.

Beautiful scenery, a lot of steps on the 2.6 mile Waterfall loop so not for mobility challenged. However Sahalie is wheel chair accessible (take path to the left) and short ways from parking lot. These falls are outstanding and worth stopping to see. Can get crowded, plan ahead.

Take the time and drive to the Sahalie and Koosah Falls along the McKenzie River. You will not be disappointed. The approximate 2+ mile hike takes visitors along a pristine and beautiful forest trail with water the most amazing color of blue. It is a doable hike for most skill levels; however, if you don't want to experience the hike in total there are several viewing platforms that are within a 100' of the parking lot. Oh and don't forget to bring a picnic lunch and just sit back and enjoy the area. It's amazing!

One of our family's favorite places to visit in the Willamette National Forest. Easy drive from Eugene and Springfield, with relaxing views of the McKenzie river along the way. Park at Carden reservoir, as the parking lot at Sahalie Falls is always packed and spilling out onto the road. Also, parking at Carmen Reservoir takes you to the beginning of the trailhead. I recommend starting on the main route, which is located across the bridge if you parked closer to the restroom, heading toward the main road. Going this way had a gradual incline, magnificent canopy of trees, and breathtaking views of rapids and both Koosah and Sahalie Falls. Travel past Sahalie Falls and follow the signs to the upper trail. You can enjoy the many pools along the river as you cross an interesting log bridge to the other side of the trail. This side is not as traveled as the other, has frequent mountain bikers, and can be narrow with uneven terrain. On the upside, the viewpoints are marvellous. This side of the tail is far less crowded and leads right back down to the parking lot at Carmen Reservoir. Overall, an easy hike.

If you take the McKenzie Pass, stop at Sahalie Falls. The view is great and the angles make photos look good too. If you are in reasonable health and good shape, take the 0.6 mile hike to Koosah Falls. The view here is not as good as the new growth trees are tall enough to block a very good view of the falls.
If you want a real workout, go ¼ mile south of the Koosah falls turnoff to the dam and lake below the falls. There you will find a 4.2 mile hike. It is very rocky and not for those that are out of shape. However the first mile along the river (turn right at the marker to enter the trail) is along the McKenzie river and is not all that difficult. You can get an excellent photo of Sahalie falls from the trail.

I'm using this attraction as a rating for the entire Mackenzie River Trail system since on exists. The trail passes these falls so close enough...
A group of us mountain biked the trail from just above Clear Lake down to Mackenzie Bridge. We took a $30 shuttle to the top from Mackenzie River Mountain Resort. Wow, what a trail!! Coming from the dry desert of Idaho, I'd never experienced rain forest riding before. Just couldn't get enough of all the moss covered rocks and trees. And the trees, they're huuuuge! Plan a full day on this beauty. We kept a pretty good pace up and it took us almost 5 hours start to finish, and we didn't ride the real techy lava rock section on the east side of Clear Lake. No need to, you'll get plenty of that on the main trail below Clear Lake. Can't wait to do it again!

We had relatives VISITING who were photo holics....especially when in OR. We hiked both sides of the Mckenzie R. Great photographs. Fall
colors were brilliant.

We hiked along the section of the MacKenzie River that included both Sahalie and Koosah Falls. The trail is well-maintained and the rushing water is a contrast to the serene and beautiful forest with sun-dappled trees. This is a gorgeous and very accessible hike that is close to the road and reflects Oregon in all its splendor.

Nice place to stop. Lovely but uneven walk. Restrooms are rustic. Beautiful falls and a great place to take a short break on the drive up the Cascades.

We used AllTrails to figure out the quickest route to Sahalie and Koosah Falls. We were staying in Bend and drove 1 hour to get here on Thursday, July 22 at around 8 am. I think we were the only car in the parking lot.
If you play your cards right and if you are not looking for a long hike but just to visit the falls, you can visit both by walking .8 miles round trip. Took us 35 minutes total.
Make sure you park at Sahalie Falls Parking Lot and walk to Koosah and back. We were on a tight schedule because we needed to go to Tamolitch Blue Pool, Proxy Falls and Cottage Grove the same day.
Trail was easy and quiet thru the forest. It was very enjoyable.

Gorgeous and a must see if traveling the beautiful McKenzie Hwy from Eugene towards Bend. Nothing like it! The trail between the falls is lovely and not difficult. However, water is swift...so keep hold of toddlers.

We were told via trip advisor it was 2 miles from sisters. The map and directions had us going in circles. Decided to head home and then found it! So beautiful and easy hike! See Koosah falls it was spectacular!

Two incredibly beautiful falls. Both are no more than a quarter mile apart. The path is well maintained and a very easy walk. If you're in the area don't miss this treasure.

Sahlie Falls is a beautiful place to visit. It is a short easy walk from the parking lot, and the beautiful Clear Lake is is near by. The drive over the McKenzie highway to Sisters is quite beautiful, and runs through historic lava flows. Highly recommended for a summer outing. The highway is closed in winter until the snow melt allows access, so check with ODOT before heading out.

We are visiting Oregon from England and love these falls. the parking is easy the walk is reasonable and the sights are fantastic.

Sahalie Falls was a recommended attraction by our Bed & Breakfast hosts in Vida, OR. The falls are located in the Willamette National forest and boast foaming white water plunging 100 feet over a natural damn. We arrived in the rain which made the scenery extremely green and lush. The falls were beautiful! The mist from the falls mixed with the light fog on a rainy day presented a stunning, eerie view (see pics). Even in the rain, the short hike was very nice (though quite muddy and slippery in places - hiking boots were a must) and worth the stop. Extremely peaceful and relaxing! We thoroughly enjoyed it!

We visit here often the hike along the river between the falls and beyond is nothing short of spectacular. There is a about a 6 mile loop that is one of our favorite hikes.

Roaring waterfalls, easy access from the parking lot. Would love to come again and hike more of the river trail.

These falls are spectacular and so close to the highway, if you are travelling and have limited time to stop. Don't forget to take your camera!!

These falls are great to see and easy to get to. You can either park at one and hike the loop to see both (3 miles for the loop?) or park at one and short hike to it, then park at the other and short hike to it. Walking along the river between these two falls is beautiful, as the river cascades down from one to the other and you are hiking right by the river nearly the whole way. I would rate this trail as moderate. The change in elevation is pretty gradual but the trail has lots of tree roots and rocks so it is more than just a walk on a level trail.,

This is a review strictly for Sahalie Falls, which was my personal favorite waterfall in Oregon. We hadn't even heard of this beautiful place until my cousin from Sisters told us to swing by on our way to Portland. So glad we did! It was a worthwhile diversion. She printed out some directions for us before we left her house, and the best way to reach the falls from Sisters is to take the 20 West; at the 20/22 fork keep left to stay on the 20; and then at the 126 turn left. Sahalie Falls is on the right. There is a parking lot and a paved sidewalk that takes you right to the falls for a laid-back and easy photo op. You can hike if you are in the mood, or just stop for a much-needed break from the road. There are pit toilets if you really gotta go. Highly recommended!

A MUST see when in Oregon. Easy hike right off highway. Don't miss it. I have never seen water so clear and blue.

Stopped here on our way home. Sahalie falls was awesome from the view points. Koosah falls was really hard to see as the view pints are all over grown.

Park at one of the falls and walk back and forth between them!
Beautiful hike with a nicely maintained trail.

Lovely hiking trail along a beautiful Oregon river with gorgeous falls. Ample parking near trail. Well maintained trail. Pit toilets at parking area. Nothing to dislike at all except having to leave this beautiful spot. The trail is cool and shaded a welcome relief from the heat on a hot day.

We saw Sahalie Falls in June 2016. It was so easy to get to, yet there weren't crowds of people. We had our two kids (ages 5 & 3) with us as well as our dog. We were happy to be able to see such an amazing place with the kids & dog in tow. It's even handicap accessible. We only saw Sahalie Falls. We didn't go down the short hike to see Koosah, simply because we were short on time. I loved the wooden bridge surrounded by ferns. It was a gorgeous place.

We've lived in Oregon 60 years and the short walk between Sahalie and Koosah Falls is the one place we ALWAYS take visitors from out of state. Absolutely spectacular river/falls scenery, especially on a sunny day. Suitable for anyone able to climb a couple of flights of stairs without stopping. For a longer hike, take the loop along both sides of the river.

The Sahalie falls are beautiful and a short walk to see them from the parking lot. However there is very poor maps (story board map on site) and we walked down along the water, thinking there would be a trail back. Not the case, you must backtrack. A better option would have been to view Salahie then drive to the other parking lot further south. Google Maps only shows the Salahie stop. The path aling the river is interesting though.

These are the two most incredible waterfalls in my opinion. You can view both of these falls from the top of the falls, and then walk down and view them from the front. You can access both falls from the McKenzie River trail, or drive into parking areas and do a short hike to both of them. The water is ice blue year round, and perfectly clear. The hiking trail shows fabulous flow of the river coming down. My most favorite waterfalls!

Everybody stops here. There's a reason. These are some impressive waterfalls.
The little trail connecting the two falls is lovely and feels wild, even though it's right off the road. Do it in the early morning and you may have it all to yourself.

These falls, located close together along HWY126, are easily accessed via short walking trails from the parking areas. In addition, a trail connects these falls. Each parking area is equipped with restrooms and informational kiosks. When we stopped on 10/3 we were the only people at both falls, I am sure it gets more crowded during the peak tourist season. Well worth the stop and short walk to observe these falls.

Definitely worth stopping. It's a nice easy hike along the river with beautiful views of the falls. We also saw chipmunks everywhere.

There was still snow on the ground - lots of it, so it made for an interesting trek to the falls - but well worth it.

What a beautiful trail we hiked at these wonderful falls. The falls aware nestled in a pine forest and are just breathtaking to watch and listen to.

Worth the stop...so much water crashing over the lava rock. Part of the loop drive ...can we do the loop?

Beauty everywhere you look! The trail has lots of stairs and I am recovering from a badly broken leg so I got in my PT today! I needed that practice! The water was so blue and everything smelled so fresh. The falls were lovely. We brought the dogs. Peaceful path of wooden stairs with pine needles on the trail.

Its on the way from Eugene to Sisters and is always a stop that we make to get the great view of the falls and take a walk up the wonderful trails

These Falls weren't on my radar but was suggested in a conversation with some locals & I'm so glad I made the effort! Beautiful & worth it!

Beautiful falls with just a short walk between the 2. We did the loop and visited the Dee Wright Observatory to see the lava flows so approached driving south where we parked at Koosah falls and walked up to Sahalie. There is good parking at Koosah as everyone parks at Sahalie. It's a good 40 minute drive from Sisters and the loop took a couple of hours but well worth it for the views

I can't believe I've never been here before. It was super! All except the vault toilets at the trailhead. The smell and the flies were worse than the outhouses in the strawberry patches I worked in as a youth in Marion county!

Gorgeous and cool!!! We went multiple times during the summer. It offers a nice easy to moderate hike along the river. On the REALLY hot days, this was my go to. It's about 15-20 degrees cooler near the falls and river.

Sahalie Falls is one of those, "Don't miss" roadside attractions. Easy parking and access from Hwy 126. Standing at the overlook, you can feel the cool spray, 1000 shades of green and the air - so crisp you can bite into it.
For a nice day trip, pack a couple of sandwiches and sodas and go to Kooskah Falls, about 3/4 mile West of Sahalie. Check out Kooskah Falls and then head East along the McKenzie River. Easy trail with amazing views of roiling waters crashing and tumbling over boulders. The moss is thick and luxuriant. Plenty of spots to pull over off the path and enjoy a picnic while communing with nature. The roar from the water is hypnotic. The trail is about 1/2 mile and each step is a treat. You can take a trail to walk up to a view from above Sahalie Falls which is also breathtaking. One caution, stay on the trail as that first misstep is a lulu

Both Sahalie and Koosah Falls are Amazing and well worth the stop. Great photo opportunity whether it is in the warmth of summer, fall colors, winter white, or Spring with large run off of water making bigger falls. Quick stop if you are in a hurry, and clean pit toilets if you need a break. If you have more time, take the short hike from Sahalie to Koosah or vice versa.

Stop at Koosah Falls and walk about a mile up to Sahalie Falls. More parking at Koosah than Sahalie. Nice walk and great views.

Beautiful falls with easy and close access to parking. The view from the platform above the falls is outstanding. Make sure you take the pathway to the right from the trailhead adjacent to the parking lot. Its not marked, so its easy to miss.

The hike is pleasant and makes a nice loop. There are restrooms at Koosah falls parking area and Carmen res.along the way, as well as the the typical Sahalie falls starting/ending point of the loop.

Nice trek on a good path by the water. If you don't have good knees on stairs you may want to rethink the hike.

If you're remotely close to Eugene, OR you must travel up river to witness both falls, clear lake, fish lake and blue pool. Do it!

This is a great place to visit. Stop at the Sahalie Falls and park there. There is a trail to walk down to Koosah Falls. Spectacular water along the way and many great picture taking spots. This is a must see for anyone visiting Central Oregon.

Right off the highway, you can park and walk just a few yards to have an incredible view of the falls. There is more hiking available, but not necessary.

This was an amazing stop. Quick and easy enough that my nearly 80 year old mother was able to walk out to see the falls. Challenging enough options that the four teenagers were busy exploring for almost an hour!

There is a short hiking trail down to an overlook below this falls and then a longer trail on down to the next falls. There are several overlooks for the lower falls. Both falls are interesting. The trails are not very strenuous. Parking is a problem since the parking lot is small.

We drove to the falls during snowfall and were only able to park by Sahalie Falls because the road is wider there. It was worth the snowy drive. The entrances to both falls parking lots had been plowed shut by the road crew. We were able to climb over the pile of snow at Sahalie (boots, gloves, etc. a must) and trudge through the snow first to the section with all the history/science information and then down the snowy steps to the falls overlook. Absolutely amazing. The vapor from the falls turned the surrounding area into a green tropical looking environment right in the middle of the snow covered forest. Such a treat. There was a trail from one falls to the other, but we didn't want to attempt it in the snow. Would be great in the summer... all in the shade. Highly recommend the trip.

Beautiful drive gets you to a nice parking area and a little walk gets wonderful views of nature at it's best. This is very accessible so age and mobility are not a problem for here. Just go and enjoy

Easy drive out of Sisters. The first place to park is Sahalie but it was full. A little bit further on was Koosah. Bathrooms at both places. The hike is easy and beautiful. The path is well-marked and there's a more direct road type path too if the winding riverside path is too wet or crowded. Worth the stop.

It's only a short walk from the parking to the falls and they are just so beautiful. The falls are on the beautiful McKenzie River. You must see these falls!

This is a favorite spot for my family to hike. We've been to the falls in each season and every time there's something new to see. The falls are beautiful and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous!

Gorgeous series of falls with a beautiful trail along the river. Pop down to only see the falls or spend a little more time and stroll along the banks of the river. There are a series of falls and a lot of whitewater in between. The forest around it is balsam fir and incense cedar -- it smells amazing!

Quiet and serene until you hear the waterfalls. Green, lush and you're alone. Many of the turnouts in Oregon have no visitors. You will be alone to enjoy the scenery.

Great place to stop & visit. There are 3 different falls in this location. Bring good hiking type shoes, because you will do some walking , it can be slippery & muddy depending on the weather. Beautiful views of the falls, the first one you can walk down & get to bottom of the falls, a little loud at the bottom of the falls , but you can get some really great photo's. There are restrooms on site, parking lot is not very big, might have a hard time with a motorhome or pulling a trailer.

We stop at Sahalie Falls every time we travel over the pass. The scenery is just beautiful. One year we stopped in the middle of winter. The parking lot isn't open during winter but we trekked down to the viewing point and what a treat. The falls were frozen over with a trickle of water coming out and rainbow over the top. I wish I'd had my camera then.

Short easy walk and great view of a wonderful waterfall and river. A little busy on weekends, but worth it.

Some really breath-taking scenery. The hike between the 2 falls is easy to moderate, and is mostly shaded from the majestic forest along the river. The parking is easy, although there is only room for about a dozen or so cars. The upper falls are a very short walk from the parking lot. The strip of river between the two falls is beautiful as well. The trails are very well maintained.

These falls were outstanding and worth a bit of a hike to see. We also did some rock hunting along the way. Stunning views

We stopped by a chance on these waterfalls (thought that they not much worth it after Columbia gorge)... Well, my kids liked them even more and especially top one - very close interaction with the waterfall. Also, it is so close to the parking lot - don't even think and stop if you driving by.

Beautiful!! I wish I had more time to explore. I will definitely go back again. Waterfalls are just incredibly powerful and amazing.

This is beautiful green and lush. If you cannot walk far it is perfect as it is simply close to the parking lot. However there are several trails you can go on and access different views and two falls. Parking is horrendous so be gracious and load up quickly to let someone else view the falls.

the trails are in good shape. A walking stick or cane is a good thing. Just go slow and you will see the sight of your life. My husband age 82 and myself did this walk. The BEAUTY is unbelievable

The trip to the falls is a short hike from the parking lot. This is a beautiful waterfall indicative of the beauty of Oregon's McKenzie River.

We had a very tough time locating this water fall in spite of it being right off the road way. But once we got there, it was beautiful. We loved the view.

These falls are so close to the road that you simply must pull over and take a peak. Just a short walk and you're there!

We found these falls by accident last summer and made sure we returned this summer. They are simply beautiful. The stop is well worth the very short walk down to the falls. I would make a point to see these beautiful falls if in the area.

While travelling throughout Washington and Oregon this April, we were told, by a very nice local resident to stop and see the falls. This was a great find and we loved the falls. Being an amateur photographer I loved the location and the walkway that takes you so close to the action. Well maintained by the parks staff.

These are two of the many beautiful water falls you will find in Oregon. Both falls are a short walk from their parking lots. There are several good overlocks to view these falls from. Falls are a short drive from Sisters Oregon, which is a neat small town.

Easy hike to both falls, parked at the Koosah parking lot and worked our way up on the trail to Sahalie.
Well worth the walk ! Different falls but both spectacular !

We parked at Koosah Falls and hiked our way up to Sahalie Falls on the peaceful waterfall trail. Once we were done at Sahalie, we went back the same way we came. It was a very enjoyable hike and the scenery beautiful.

We got there by mistake and it was the best one ever. We did a half hour hike between trees and amazing landscapes and then chilled watching a lake.
My photos will speak better than me.
If you are going in February bring a rain jacket! and prepare to be cold

The power of the water thunders over the rocks. It is peaceful and calming. Both falls can be accessed from one parking lot with a short walk on a well maintained trail. It’s a must see when traveling on OR126

These falls are about a 5 minute car drive from each other. I believe you can hike from one to another, and if we had more time we would have done that. The falls are close to the parking lot so not a lot of effort is required. Not as intense as Tumalo Falls, but worth the stop.

We only saw Sahalie Falls as there is a good, short, fairly flat path (but a bit slippery) from the parking lot directly to the falls for viewing. It is breathtaking! You actually get pretty close to the falls and can get great photos.

These two waterfalls are on the McKenzie river. You can park right by each or walk along the river path in between. There are outhouses at each parking area but the number of parking spaces is limited. The path between the falls is wet and can be slippery, especially on the the wood steps.

In fall the colors are amazing! The falls are well worth a short easy hike down to viewing area. Only a ways down river from Clear Lake, the head waters of the pristine McKenzie River.

Drive west on Highway 20 from Sisters to the Santiam Junction and head west on highway 126 5.2 miles and follow the signs into Sahalie Falls parking area. It is an easy short walk to the falls with beautiful photo opportunities.

Amazing waterfalls. Short walk from parking lot to see 1 of them if you are short on time. 3 mile loop trail to see both from multiple directions. Walk mostly thru old growth trees, loved it.

We stopped at Sahalie Falls and soaked in the beauty. What a charming spot!!! It is close to the highway and just a short walk from the parking area. It is possible to walk to the top of the falls which we did not do this time. Our guests didn't have time for the additional trek. Well worth the stop!!!

These falls have wheelchair accessible paths, though tree roots do make rolling somewhat of a challenge. The viewpoints are well away from the falls, so a certain amount of telephoto it nice. Your results might be nice enough to enlarge and frame for your wall.

A not to be missed hike on the McKenzie River! 2 roaring waterfalls and beautiful views along the river the whole loop of this 2.5 mile hike. Most of the path is shaded so suitable even on a sunny day. Bring water and be prepared for uphill hiking most of the way back on the west side of the river. Took us about 2 hours including time for photos and just watching the falls.
Follow the directions in this link http://www.oregon.com/recreation/sahalie-falls for the loop starting on the east side and returning on the west.

We were traveling along the highway and saw the sign for Sahalie Falls and spontaneously decided to stop. Wow --- are we glad we did! Not far from the parking lot you are stunned by the majesty and beauty of the Sahalie Falls. Then, if you feel like a gorgeous easy hike, keep following the dirt trail along the river for 10-15 minutes until you come to Koosah Falls, which is also stunning. Then, as you hike back to your car, you see different angles for the many photos you are sure to take! I loved visiting, and want to return many times.

Seeing Sahalie Falls is wonderful, but the 2.5 mile loops to see the other falls and rapids is fairly easy with a well-maintained trail. If you have a walking stick it always helps.

Two beautiful waterfalls--bring your camera. Many people only venture to Clear Lake, but you need to go a little farther for these waterfalls.

What an amazing pair of falls. They are an easy hike from the two parking areas. Each parking area almost immediately access one of the falls and the other is maybe 1/4 mile hike. The river is amazing as well. There is ice cap campground near by as well. There are stairs so there’s a little climbing. You can also hike up past the upper falls and see some amazing wild river or hike down to the reservoir the other direction about a mile. Plenty of parking and good for small children as well.

Start at the reservoir road below Koosah Falls and hike up right side trail. it is a loop trail. You cross the river above Sahalie Falls and come down the other side. BEST

Did a side trip while staying at Eagles Crest in Redmond. Just a short walk from parking area. A restroom is available. Trail not accessible to wheelchairs since there are stairs.

Awesome waterfall (or waterfalls) with a nice short hike. Be prepared: the parking lot is small, and you may not find a space. We had to park along the highway. That isn't a terrible inconvenience, since the distance is short, but it means that you have to be very careful crossing the road. We visited during the November 2025 government shutdown, so the site was not at its best. But there's no denying the power and beauty of the falls.

This was the highlight of our trip to Sisters! Really neat to hike on both sides of river and see two very beautiful waterfalls. Would do it again in a heartbeat

Great hike. Would have liked better directions and info on the trail, but we made due. We visited in the fall and the colors were just starting to show on the foliage.

Visiting these falls is a must do for anyone traveling the Mackenzie river area. Located right off the highway, they are easy to get too, and the cool blue green waters and occasional rainbows make for lovely photographs.

Sahalie Falls was lovely! And just what I needed as I started a long drive to NM. I arrived early morning and felt excited as I pulled into park. I strolled along the path surrounded by tall, lush trees and could feel the spray of the falls as I got closer. While I have visted taller and larger falls, I was impressed with the simple beauty of this place. Perfect to take a lunch and enjoy a few hours. Located on Hwy 126 (not in Sisters)

You must do this hike! If you are not a very good walker, at least go to both waterfalls which are accessible from the parking lots. The lower falls is a short hike steep downhill (but a great path and then of course you need to go uphill) and the upper falls is a shorter hike with only a short downhill and then up hill.
If you prefer to only hike one way, park at the upper falls and work your way down the path. When you arrive at the bottom falls, have someone hike up and get the car for you....while you sit on the bench and enjoy the falls.
Take your time and enjoy the rivet along the way. It is breath takingly beautiful and oh so relaxing. Bring lunch, water, snack to enjoy along the way.
There are outhouses at both ends that are generally well maintained and have toilet paper.

This was a wonderful hike. We hiked for about 2 hours. Did loop and got to see falls from both sides. The falls and water are absolutely beautiful.

Simply beautiful waterfalls! We took the trail loop, which was about 3.2 miles. The path was well laid out, with some steps along the way. It was not difficult but did have some changes in elevation throughout. We could see gushing water and the river most of the hike. These falls were two of the most spectacular falls we’ve seen, and we’ve been to many. It was cloudy and cool, but we enjoyed the hike immensely.

Beautiful falls and easy to get to. Stopped by for a quick walk on a warm day in July and the water was freezing! But it's not for swimming anyway!

Oregon has lots of amazing waterfalls. Sahelie and Koosah Falls were my favorite! east 2.6 mile loop along a rushing blue green coldriver to the falls by the mckenzie river.
i drove from portland down I5, stayed in corvallis then went east then south on rt 22 through the santiam state forest, then west a bit on rt 20 and then south on rt 126 to the koosah falls parking area. then stayed at Harbrick's Country Inn on Rt 126 - ate at Takodas (neither were fancy - but were acceptable). Can also take Rt 20 east to Sisters (stop at Black Butte Ranch for a snack and to walk around). or take 242 to Sisters and stop at the Dee Wright Observatory to see lava formations. Either route is worthwhile. From funky fun Sisters, its a short hop to Bend Oregon where you can walk around the pretty city lake and get a good meal. Make sure you visit Crater Lake ! Its a must see.

Get there early before it gets all parked up.
Will take about 1.5hrs on the trail round trip. Small children may not be suitable. Parents may freak out as children run along steep, unforgiving, trail slope.
Beautiful on a sunny day and I'm sure just as beautiful on a foggy / misty day.
Net-net: I'd stop there again if I was in the area.

There is parking and a bathroom available at the trailhead. The hike is very mild - just need to watch your step. The falls are just beautiful. And the water... unbelievable color. Like the color they paint swimming pools Very shaded, makes for a great hike.

Very pictureesque falls and an easy hike to get to both of them. A good trip for kids or those with dogs in tow.

We love to hike, and this is one of the BEST! Well worth the drive. Our GPS clocked this at 4.5 miles round trip, but it was an easy hike.

The McKenzie Santiam loop drive is 88 miles long and offers many opportunities to stop and enjoy the varied scenic attractions. You probably can't stop every place you would like and still finish in a single day, so you need to prioritize where you want to stop. And these two falls should be your top priority IMHO. Both falls are beautiful with high water volume, and a scenic trail links the two along the McKenzie River. You can hike much farther is you choose or you can stay on the river for the 1/2 mile trip between the falls. there are actually two access points off the highway, just down from each other, and either will get you easily to the falls. Sahalie is the one farther north and the hike is downhill headed for Koosah Falls. If time is limited, you can access each fall at the different access points without hiking between them. However long you plan to stop, however, be sure to stop and see these beautiful falls, both easily accessible from the highway.

If you are driving by this area, stop the car. It is sometimes hard to find a parking spot, but be patient until you get one. Then hike along the McKenzie River to both waterfalls and enjoy the clear, cold water, the rush of the falls, and just being outside. This is a magical place, so take a deep breath and don't rush!

We have vacationed in the Sisters area a couple times over the recent years and included this hike on our itineraries. Our friends actually hired a limosine the first time we went there as we were all on bicycles and without cars. We went back this summer because it's close to Sisters, it's an easy hike for a rest day off the bike and the scenery and falls are beautiful.

This was a nice stop to stretch our legs... The trail between Sahalie and Koosah Falls along the McKenzie River is well traveled with many beautiful view opportunities of old growth trees and the flowing waters. It is an easy trail to walk with some steps here and there so that does mean you will have some small ups and downs along the way. Don't forget your camera!

These 2 waterfalls are stunning. Both are easily navigated by using well kept paths under the forest canopy. Just off Hwy 126 approximately 3 miles from Hwy 20 junction. Great photo opportunities with refreshing path at the top of Koosah Falls that runs right beside the river. We didn't hike the entire trail but I believe you can hike between the two falls. Verify that though.

My friend wanted to see these falls so badly but has a hard time hiking. No hiking really involved with this gorgeous place. Sahalie is just a few steps from your car! Koosah is just a short walk, but you could drive down to that parking lot and do a short walk to it as well. Awesome!

stopped on our way to the ducks game...nice to breath in the fresh air, nice trail to see the fall easy access, clean toilets

A great place to stretch your legs. These falls are loud and majestic. The trail follows the river so you get a roaring hike very up close to the raging river. Go all the way to the spillway to get the most of a great hike.

Great quiet trail along the McKenzie river. My teenage son's new favorite trail--he has asked to come through this part of Oregon next time so we can hike again.

Short or long hike depending on what you want. Pretty muddy in the winter but overall very scenic and nice and quick for a couple pictures.

Sahalie Falls is a majestic and very forceful waterfall with easy access right off of Highway 126. We visited on a late Thursday afternoon, and there were still a lot of people there. We hiked a little further down the trail fron Sahalie but didn't realize there was another waterfall only a 1/2 mile away. Instead we walked along the fast moving MacKenzie River and watched the white water rapids and then turned around and headed back to the car. The mossy dense forest here is quite a contrast to the Ponderosa pines in the town of Sisters.
The waterfall is located about 30 minutes from Sisters, and I wish we would have gone earlier. There is a 10-15 degree temperature difference between Sahalie and Sisters, which was kind of nice.

My returned Peace Corps Volunteer reunion group hike this trail. It is well marked and offers beautiful views and scenery the entire loop. Total time hiking with stops for pictures and snacks was about 3 hours. It can be hiked much faster than that. The trail along the river offers many views of the waterfalls, rainbows and interesting flora and fauna. If you're in the Sisters/Bend area I highly recommend this hike. Plenty of parking if you get there early.

Wonderful rest stop with a nice waterfall. One can walk for 90 seconds and get a good view, or hike a half mile or so to be closer to the water. I have taken people on wheelchairs, too. One can quickly lose oneself with the experience with nature. This refreshes the soul. Not to be missed. Take a few moments for this gem.

Spectacular!. Been there many times. Best during the spring run-off. You wouldn't believe the amount of water going over the falls at that time. Still very nice any other time.

The falls are absolutely stunning and a must do when in the area. A short hike that anyone can do and you follow a river so lots of photo opportunities. A little crowded for my taste but a great hike nonetheless.

While on a tour of Northwestern Oregon, our tour guide felt Sahalie was beautiful enough to make a brief stop.
It was beautiful. Water falls are always beautiful and this was no exception. It was an easy walk to get to the viewpoint. There was an unobstructed view as well as seeing it through the trees. Lovely and soothing. We could see people who had climbed down to the rock below it. I know there is a longer walk to see Koosah, but our time was quite limited. We did enjoy it and I would encourage anyone to stop and see these falls. There was an interpretive sign at the top. Very interesting information.

Be aware that TripAdvisor as late as May 7th shows an address just west of Redmond that is very wrong. The falls are west of Sisters, west of where Hwy 22 takes off northbound. They are about 5 miles south of Hwy 20 on Hwy 126. Google Maps gets it right, but your cell service may not work that far out.
There is modest parking north at Sahalie, and less parking south at Koosah. Short walk with ramps to Sahalie, longer walk to Koosah. Most of the Koosah overlooks are overgrown but if you walk south a little more there's a small stone-framed rincon offering a good view.
Bathrooms at both parking areas which seem roomy enough for wheelchairs. No tables for picnics, and I don't know that I'd want to sit on anything in the area anyway, given the pervasive dampness and mud.
The local lush botany benefits from the wet, wet conditions. Trillium, iris and skunk cabbage in bloom.
I wish I'd seen one reviewers comments to park a bit further down at Ice Cap day-use area at the Carmen Reservoir. There's likely picnic tables there, and access to the other side of the river for a longer, more private and scenic short hike.
So, here's your gameplan: park first at Sahalie and get you fix of roaring water from many different view points. Skip Koosah for now and park down at Ice Cap. Walk up the west side of the river to see Koosah from the other side.

This is a must visit Mckenzie Headwaters stop. This water is filtered through lava rock from the Sisters Mountains. So it is cold, clear and clean. As pictured, the falls change with the seasons but the ice of winter makes it look magical. Easy parking and short walk to site. Enjoy, DaveHW

About 1.25 hours from Springfield. The drive out was scenic and the Falls were pretty cool. Lots of rainbow shots this day off the falls. Decent hike and not very crowded.

It is only a short walk to the falls and there is a path that follows the water that is very relaxing. It is natural and beautiful. It is a good place to just relax for a short time and enjoy the falls and the wooded area. The falls is powerful, rushing and mesmerizing. Each time we visit the falls, there are only a few people there so you are able to just enjoy the beauty.

Just off the highway, and an easy walk from parking, this stunning sight can be approach from above or below. Both are worthwhile.

Be sure to wear your walking shoes! It is the most beautiful hike :) Take lots of pics! The Falls are beautiful - breath-taking!

Stunning, so beautiful. Definitely recommend stopping here and spending a few hours exploring. Hike was easy and fun for kids.

We stoped and walked the short trail to the first fall and it was great. We went further down the trail and saw more great views and didn't even mind that it was raining.

More rural than Silver Falls but the same distance from Corvallis... you get to twist and turn on Route 20 til you get to Route 126...5 miles south and you are there...Koosah is the best...not Sahalie and make sure you take the time to do the 1.5 mile waterfall/McKenzie river loop...the view of the waterfalls is different on both sides...the raging waters are impressive too...the mist and breeze from the falls and river is refreshing...100% worth the drive

The waterfall is beautiful but the bathrooms are disgusting, the parking is very, very limited and there are no picnic tables. A nice quick stop though.

The water was so blue and the waterfalls are powerful. The first falls we visited was Sahalie, it is viewable from the trailhead parking lot. Then we followed a well maintained trail along the stream to the next waterfall, which can also be reached by the downstream trailhead. Just amazing and beautiful!

Worth Visiting if you find yourself in Eugene, Oregon. Two beautiful 120' & 90' high waterfalls in picturesque settings. Each an easy walk from respective parking lot and separated by only ¼ mile on the trail. Walk down the trail from Koosah and soak your feet in Carmen Reservoir and feel the power of the McKenzie River.

The trail is easy and the sites are spectacular. If you are in the area this is a definite must see!

Both sets of falls are stunning! The hike, which is more like a walk is quick and very enjoyable! I’d highly recommend!!

We had been driving for several hours and decided we needed a little break so when we saw the sign for the waterfall, it seemed like it would be a nice diversion. That proved to be an understatement. The waterfall was less than a minute's walk from the parking lot. It was breath-taking and absolutely gorgeous. Just what this weary driver needed. There were several other trails to take to visit the top of the waterfall and to go further down river to more falls. We did not explore these trails, but probably will the next time we drive through this area. There was plenty of parking and restrooms. (The restrooms here are vault toilets, so if you're squeamish about that kind of thing, don't plan on this for a potty stop.) The trail was very shady and cool -- a welcome respite from the heat of the day. I was traveling with my teenage son. He and I are looking forward to sharing this treasure spot with the rest of our family. We will make this a regular stop on this stretch of highway!

The falls are about a quarter mile apart on easy trail. The upper Sahalie Falls parking lot was full so we went down to the lower Koosah Falls and found easy parking. Both falls were wonderful. If you can, continue upriver and take the 3 mile loop trail. There's a footbridge that takes you to the other side (McKenzie Trail). I was told counter-clockwise was best so you are hiking downhill on the rockier side. I saw lots of very old folks that I questioned should be taking the trail but admired the fortitude. By the way, Sahalie was handicap accessible and maybe Koosah too but steeper.

We did the loop of both falls. It was easy and so very beautiful. Everyone’s favorite hike of our recent trip.

We drove around for an hour near the area shown on the tripadvisor map. After going to a different website we realized this is right by Clear Lake which is 35 or so miles away from "Holmes Rd". Hopefully I can avoid you some frustration if you are relying on tripadvisor's map...

It was my first time in Oregon, and a friend took me so see Sahalie Falls. The falls and the whole area were absolutely breathtaking. There was a path to hike to the top of the falls, one to go to the bottom of the falls, and another that led down the river. The water itself was a crystal-blue, and the flora was vibrant and green.
If you are in the area, this is a good waterfall to chase!

Sahalie Falls is a short walk and great view. Don’t forget to turn right and follow the trail to the overlook above the falls

A must see. It’s is so beautiful and easy to get to. Loved it!parking can be a bit tricky but once you secure a spot take your time and enjoy the area.

Difficult to photograph due to south-facing falls, but definitely worth the extra effort (bring an ND filter on sunny days.) Not a difficult hike and well worth it. I've been to both waterfalls before, but I always visit when I'm in the area. Parking can be a little tight at both waterfalls.

This is a very short walk to the falls and worth every step. Absolutely gorgeous. the hike is appropriate for all ages and doesn't take long.

Gorgeous waterfall. Definitely worth a look. Set back in the shade, it was a nice relief to get off the motorcycle & enjoy the cool.

This waterfall is gorgeous! It's a very short walk from the parking lot so if you just want to see the falls, it's very easy. . .. but . . . if you to get absorbed by nature, you can walk an easy trail along the McKenzie river from Sahalie to Koosah. If you have the energy, you can walk a loop down one side and up the other. Oregon is gorgeous and has so much natural beauty, but this spot is at the top of my list. If you write, or just want to reflect, it's an easy place to do it. Enjoy!!

There is parking at both falls, and both are worth a look. We were there last week and it was rushing

Beautiful falls and great to walk to and around. A must see if you are looking to spend some time in the woods

There are several falls named Sahalie in the Northwest. This one on highway 126 is a real gem. It's a two minute walk to the viewpoint and another 1/4 down to Koosah falls from there. Even in October the massive amount of water flowing over Sahalie falls is impressive. Easy access on paved trail.

Easy access to both falls from the road. This was one of our main highlights driving from Portland to Eugene. Although the weather had been dry, plenty of water over the falls for the end of July.

My wife is 7 months pregnant and she was able to walk to both waterfalls without any troubles. It was easy walk with well defined trails and great views of waterfalls!

Nice parking areas with a short hike to the falls. A number of steps to take to get to the other falls but pretty easy. Not often you get two beautiful falls in such a short distance and a great looking river in between.

First of all, this is a great place to take people who enjoy the outdoors with waterfalls, a river, and a nice hike that's less than 3 miles! Second of all, it was a bit tougher to do this time because of the many rocks on the path as we were doing the return hike on the opposite side of the river. The trail starts near Sahalie Falls and goes along the river downstream until several other smaller waterfalls are seen and then Koosah Falls appears. Be aware that there are many steps (like a staircase) downward on the first leg of the trail as it takes one down to the river edge. The rangers have made several great lookouts from which to view the various falls, and those locations allow some great camera shots. This first leg of the hiking trail ends at the reservoir where you cross a bridge and go to the second half of the return trail which begins just this side of the outdoor toilets. Don't be fooled as there appears to be a path closer to the river, but it really IS a trail to nowhere! On this particular day, we met a forest ranger/policeman who told us about the recent fire forcing hikers to avoid certain areas that were now off limits due to falling trees and other post fire damage. Fortunately, our trail was open and we could continue our hike back. Remember, however, what comes down MUST go back up the same amount, and this hike has a 400 foot elevation change. The elevation wasn't so much a problem as the many rocks that we had to sometimes clamber over. Seeing the falls from both sides of the river was nice, but we were soooo happy to see the parking lot and our car with our return on the loop! Well worth the effort every 5 years or so, however!

Another attraction I visited after spending 26 years in area. Should have gone years ago. It is a beautiful, moderately easy hike through old growth Douglas fir and cedar. Both Sahalie and Koosah Falls are pretty nice to behold, and the small reservoir down below was serene. A great place to take visitors and small kids. Arrive early, as the parking is tight and the trail gets a lot of users. Folks were parking on the edge of Hwy 20 when we left.

The falls are just off the highway.. take a short walk to Sahalie Falls and a little longer walk to Koosah. Both are gorgeous and picture perfect. We used Sahalie Falls as the back drop to our wedding picture announcement, It is one of my wife's favorite places in Central Oregon. The only drawback is the parking lot on the weekend can be crowded and getting a picture in front of the falls can be a challenge with some of the crowds. Not a solitary hike but very worthwhile down to the reservoir. Been there many times and will go back again.

These two waterfalls are just off the highway and can be accessed via a short trail or you can park at one waterfall and walk the 1/2 mile to the other one. They have large volumes of water that flow from them. We were there a few days ago and they were quite spectacular! Great photo opportunities with a small amount of time to do it in.

This is a nice hike along the McKenzie River with views of both of these waterfalls. We did the loop and went on both sides of the river. There are a lot less people on the trail when you cross to the other side of the river. It has some elevation involved but very doable.

Relatively easy hike along the river encompassing two falls. Lush greenery, roaring river and falls, peaceful revery. some steps, and a bit steep in some sections, but overall not strenuous. Much cooler than outside the woods along the road. Has been hotter than expected in region and some forest fires with smoke filling the air, but along the trail was cool. Photos are great, although contrasts due to shadows and sunlight filtering through the trees, but even iPhone shots turned out great!

Situated really close to the road, the air feels so clean and pure, and the sights and sounds of this waterfall are breathtaking.

This easily accessible falls trail will provide you with stunning views of Sahalie and Koosah Falls. The parking is better at Sahalie as Koosah Falls parking is tiny! The trail between the two is great for a brief family hike. Be sure they can get down some of the big rocks and the river is close so stay on the trail. Always cool here even in mid summer, but may be close due to snow in the winter.

Crowded trail, but impressive views of the falls. It is worth a short stop to hike between the two falls (both impressive to look at) There are parking areas at each of the falls, but most people park at the one without the campground.

We loved the falls and you could get great pictures at Sahalie (more so than Koosah). I believe you can park at one and walk to the other thru a path, but don't quote me on that. Both falls are very close together, but if you can only do one - do Sahalie.
Good hike along river in bushland wandering up to see 3 waterfalls- not too steep n track quite good
