Beautiful ferry ride brkfst and drinks available on board comfortable seating met several native California natives

It's about an hour long and you get a very pleasant view of the Bay, going by the Carquinez Bridge, Angel Island, and the Bay Bridge. It's particularly nice on hot summer days or when riding back from San Francisco to Vallejo at night when the buildings are lit up.

I was just recently at the Ferry Building taking my family to San Francisco. The lady in the ticket booth she was really nice and game my family a fast and friendly service. We were in and out in just a few minutes. I been coming here many other times and I Always receive great customer service.

Departing Vallejo on the ferry is a great experience and should be experienced by everyone at least once. The Vallejo Ferry Terminal has a full service coffee bar serving breakfast and lunch and a pub serving locally crafted microbrew beers in the afternoon and evening. A staffed ticket office sells tickets and monthly passes for the high speed ferry which takes you right to the foot of the financial district in under an hour. The crew of the boats take pride in the cleanliness of their boats and it shows. Not a single dust bunny to be found! The boats travel quite fast using hydro jet technology, they are equipped with free Wifi, (although it's rather slow) and have a full bar to grab a variety of snacks or a cocktail. Each bartender onboard has their own exclusive handcrafted specialty cocktail. Watch the scenery of the bay zip by and enjoy a different perspective while not having to deal with the traffic congestion on the Bay Bridge.

When we want to visit San Francisco we travel on the Vallejo Ferry. The cost is very reasonable and the ferry ride over to the Ferry Building in San Francisco is very enjoyable. There is no dealing with horrible traffic and expensive parking. Make a day of it!

Best way to travel to San Francisco. We always park the car across the street and take the ferry to the heart of San Francisco. Clean, friendly and on time.

By hutchss |

If I worked in SF, this is the way I would get to work: pleasant, clean, quiet, spacious and scenic. I’d enjoy coffee to work and wine on the way home! Such a new way to commute — or simply get to SF! Love this method of travel!

By Douglas E |

We used this to go to San Francisco as we didn't want to have a car in the city. Easy on and off in Both directions. Saved on parking $8 day compared to $30-40 a day smooth ride.

An excellent ferry boat service, conceived basically for commuters, can be enjoyed greatly by tourists. For a low fare, riders may board either at Embarcadero or Pier 39, having fun for over an hour while sailing throughout the East Bay. In addition to the drinks on board, I strongly recommend staying for dinner at the restaurant on the Vallejo pier, returning to S.F. on one the ferry's evening schedules. Unforgettable!

We take the ferry to San Francisco whenever we have the occasion to go in there. And now, my husband is able to use it to commute to work into the city. So much nicer than driving!!

By jsh8 |

This has to be the best thing I've done in a while.

I'm moving to the Vallejo, CA area and discovered this ferry service that will directly take you to Pier 41 in San Francisco. The fare is $13/ per adult each way which at first I thought was pricey, but after the ride it was WELL worth it.

The ferry is famous for being on-time and leaving on-time and that's exactly what happened with me. The ferry was due to leave Vallejo at 10:30 and we was backing up at 10:29. There was a ton of people in line for a SF Giants fan fest and I was worried that the boat didn't have enough room and it had more than enough.

The ferry is 2 stories with a back deck with about 12-16 chairs on it. We decided to sit outside and experience the bay first hand. It's a gorgeous ride and takes about 40 minutes to get to the ferry building and then another 10 to Pier 41. The boat is very fast, but very stable. I took a ton of photos.

From the ferry you can easily see Alctraz Island, Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Skyline of San Fran and so much more. The inside of the ferry is very quiet and relaxing. They have a snack bar with food and drinks and free wifi on board. They also have tv screens with current weather and tracking information of the ferry.

Great time!

My wife and I are retired and the Ferry to San Francisco is our primary source of Transportation to the city. In case of Emergency and when the Ferry is not in operation, Bus service is available from Vallejo to the city Ferry Terminal. The Ferry takes about one hour to reach the city. Tickets can be purchase in advance at the terminal, Route schedule is also available and provides plenty of information for people. Commuters uses the Ferry on weekdays and Baseball fans, shoppers and sightseers on weekends. The trip is relaxed, views of the Carquinez and Richmond Bridges from the water. Do not forget to bring a jacket, San Francisco can get cold in the Evenings even in Summer.

I have to go to the City two or three times a month. And, when I do, I take the ferry as often as possible. There is no better way to travel. It's comfortable, convenient and always and interesting ride. The crowds are much nicer too. Unlike BART with 5150s and solicitors everywhere or the bus with loud, rude foul mouthed teenagers, ferry riders visit quietly or keep to themselves. People leave each other alone on the ferry.

By Bonus112 |

Picked up the ferry on Mare Island and sailed downtown. Great views, good WiFi and a bar! You can sit outside or inside and it’s a rather enjoyable trip downtown.

Why DON'T you post prices...so I can budget a trip for my FAMILY...I am having my family visit from Altoona , pa ....and I want the best vacation I can offer on my fixed income

By 101bigfoot |

I have tried to use the ferry twice. The first time there was a baseball game scheduled and the line was too long to get through before the ferry left. 30 minutes in line. Then there was a buss but that didn't work out either. The time I did get to use it was great, smooth, terminal was fine. Return trip worked great. So yeah the ferry service is great unless it's busy for some reason.

My Port Costa vacation rental guests always get my recommendation to take the ferry to SF where they can disembark at teh Fishermans wharf or the SF Farmers market , and walk right down the gang plank to the Slanted Door ( a GREAT Thai fusion restaurant) . Havent gone myself since two years ago August when my brother was up for our birthday visit. Lovely for all of us around here that we have the ferry so close.

Love riding the ferry to SF. It's clean, quiet, and the people are all pleasant. No traffic, no bridge tolls, no parking issues. We did take it after commute hour, so it may be different during a more "rush hour". Looking forward to senior rates as it will be more affordable. I was able to take a person with a scooter on board without problems getting on or off. The ride from Vallejo to SF is an hour, so time wise it doesn't get much better. Oh, and the views are delightful.

By Nese G |

The ferryboats were modern, clean and smooth. We had a lovely ride and there was much to view, wide walkways, so the kids were happy. The only stressful part of the whole ordeal was catching the ferry. Passengers get there VERY early to catch a ferry, it doesn't matter if you are going at a later time (instead of commute/rush hour) and the ticket station is crammed pack, so if you aren't early expect to take the next available boat.

By yvonnemorrow |

When we initially left Vallejo, the ferry lost one of its engines about 15 minutes out and began slowing down and turning in a circle. We thought this was strange. The Captain came on over the intercom and said that one of the engines had failed, but not to worry, we still had the one. He said that unfortunately we would have to turn around and go back to Vallejo. Once we returned to Vallejo (about 30 minutes later), the next ferry was deboarding. We were allowed to board ahead of the people waiting (I am sure that they were not very happy). We finally got to Pier 39 approximately 50 minutes later (cutting our visit short). But, the crew handled the emergency well and we still were able to enjoy the day and the trip. Hopefully this was just a one-off.

This was a great way into San Francisco. Beautiful views of San Francisco Bay: Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, Oakland Bay Bridge, Angel Island and of course the city of SF. No need to pay for a boat tour.

By Laybon J |

This is a wonderful fun experience if you are taking friends/family around who are visiting the Bay Area. A little pricey but it's worth it for the experience and the scenic. views. Also a great way to get into the City for sightseeing and shopping. You can also enjoy adult beverages en route.

By stilltravellingSC |

We took the ferry across from Vallejo to enjoy a day in San Francisco.
The staff politely greeted us as we boarded and one came by our table to pass a few friendly words with us during our voyage.
The restrooms are kept very clean.
The sights from the ferry create a feeling of excitement for first time visitors to San Francisco.
Truly a lovely experience and a stress free way to get to San Francisco.

By Alexa S |

I love riding the Ferry into San Francisco since I've already driven 2.5 hours to get to Vallejo I don't want to drive another 2.5 hours plus pay tolls, then sit in traffic only to be stressed out, then looking for parking. Within an hour you could be at your destination. Riding the ferry is so relaxing, you can take a quick nap, do a little work or just look at the bay. You can purchase coffee, soft drinks, hot cocoa or an after work drink along with snacks. There is an indoor parking lot as well as an outside parking lot. You can park for the entire day for $7.00 (inside or outside). They have rates for students, seniors & daily commuter passes. The ferry building in Vallejo is very clean with some places for meals. Last ferry of day from San Francisco is at 7:30 or 8. When you arrive in San Francisco you arrive at the Ferry Terminal. What a beautiful place, so many shops, restaurants and walking around that area is great. You are near the Bart, public transportation, walk down to the Wharf or just explore areas you haven't been too. So next time you feel like going to San Francisco think about taking the Ferry in.

By Karla C |

I used to take the ferry from Vallejo to San Francisco once a month for about four months and it was easier and more stress free than driving. It takes about an hour to reach either Pier 39 or the Ferry Building and you get to see they Bay Area from another point of view. I highly recommend taking the ferry at least once.

By sheila t |

We use the Ferry whenever we visit San Francisco. The terminal is easy to find with convenient, inexpensive, covered parking, the terminal building in Vallejo has clean restrooms, quick customer service for ticket purchases, lots of information regarding attractions in the City. There's also a little food service area. The ferry is a fun way to travel and drops off right on the waterfront in San Francisco. Lots of public transportation options at the SF Terminal building, as well as taxi or uber service. The website for the Ferry is easy to navigate and the schedules are convenient for day trips.

By Speer2014 |

The ferry ride to San Francisco was about an hour. Smooth ride, comfortable seats, nice people. So glad we took the suggestion to ride the ferry, would highly recommend this mode of transportation!

By Paul A |

Our family uses the ferry to get to and from San francisco every chance we get as this helps cut down on my stress of traveling in the bay area also a perk is no parking fees and bridge tolls. Also when traveling to take a cruise you can walk just a short distance or take a cab or get on a trawley car along the embacadero as the ferry termal is very close with no long term parking costs.
One should note that it is fun to be on the water seeing many sights with great views of things you don't noramly see lots of wild life Birds, seals.

By priyamvadatbajpai |

The ferries (on both our trips) were large, accomodating, totally on time, and took us on a nice ride which we enjoyed by the time we reached Vallejo to continue our journey towards Napa. The frequency is good on weekdays, but please increase the frequency for weekends too :)

By Al W |

We always take the ferry to San Francisco from Vallejo as it allows us to relax during the ride and takes the hassle out of driving and parking. It is always an enjoyable ride and experience

By john b |

The ferry from San Francisco to Vallejo is great. It is fairly inexpensive especially for senior citizens and you can just sit back and relax for the hour ride. The only problem is when one of the ferries brakes down and a bus has to be substituted. Just watch the scenery go by or read the paper

By Kim P |

Miss the traffic and parking by taking the Vallejo Ferry to San Fran! The signage at the ferry location is not very clear. The parking garage requires you to know your license plate number when purchasing your ticket, but that's not posted anywhere, so we were left to run back to the car, holding up the machine and line! The ticket office is 300 yards away from the line to get on the ferry but again, not marked. The ferry folks could do a much better job of signage!

By James C |

While in town we had a great ride on the bay ferry service. Departs from the Vallejo waterfront next to the Front Room restaurant. Tried both. The ferry ride is a nice experience and gets you to the San Francisco waterfront area within walking distance of Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. Glad we tried both.

By Renee' M |

Delightful way to go to the City. Quiet, with great views en route. Lease the car at home and head to the Ferry Bldg. or to Pier 41. The latter runs less frequently but it's only a short distance to hop the Hyde St. cable car. From the Ferry Bldg. there is easy access to transportation to all part of the City. Be sure to allow enough time to purchase tickets especially during commute hours. You can carry luggage aboard, there are refreshments available as well. Leave the car and you shattered nerves at home and ply the waters of the Bay.

By Gary R |

Loved the ferry Ride, The Awesome vantage point for photos of the City. GR8 Value If i worked in the City it would be worth the fare to beat the traffic.

By Keith S |

The ferry is comfortable, fast, and efficient, and a great alternative to driving in to the city. Plenty of parking on the Vallejo end, and convenient connections to public transit on the SFO end.

By Mary Frances K |

posted schedule time was on time.. ride smooth and convenient seats are comfortable and scenery outstanding

By Bill R |

Take a smooth, fast and safe ride to San Francisco - and arrive on time - on the Vallejo/SF Ferry. It takes about the same time as driving - but with none of the hassle. When comparing the cost of gasoline, bridge toll plus parking charges, I'm sure it is also cheaper. Have a bite, sit in airliner seats, read your paper and you are in down town S.F.

By maryf55 |

Now that the ferry originates from Mare Island, it's even easier. Too bad it doesn't return there after a Giants' game. Clean, comfortable, timely, convenient. Every staff person we met was cheerful and helpful. Such a smooth trip!

By raventree |

Easy to use, simple non-stressful commuting, one can do work on board while riding over the bay. No hassles and if your work pays offsets for public transport, cheap as well.

By Fatima L |

my family and I took the ferry from Vallejo to San Francisco ferry building to explore SF. we parked at the big lot across the street( pay for a whole day). walked around a bit and waited in line to board the ferry. We bought our tickets online. got in the line and waited to board. it was on time, simple boarding, show tickets and get on.. find seats( open seating) and off we go.. once we got out of the Vallejo bay it picked up speed and it was a straight shot to SF. beautiful sights. Go in the summer! midday! really see the sights, Alcatraz, treasure island, both bridges etc. must do experience for those in surrounding areas( Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville, Sacramento) really beats driving in that traffic.

By Irish E |

Awesome ride! clean , safe, and fun..great views of Bay. Reasonably priced. This is the best way to travel to Fisherman's Wharf across the Bay

By Jeremy H |

Rode in mid February the 8:30AM from Vallejo to the San Francisco ferry building on the Embarcadero in SF. We scoped it out the day before, bought senior round trip tickets about $14 each, checked out the parking and were told due to the time of year if we left before10AM we should have no problems with finding a place to park. All day parking was $6. The ferry bldg. at Vallejo was pleasant and easy to find a place to sit and wait for the ferry to come in. The journey itself took about an hour with lots of first time things to look at. Alcatraz, Angle Island, Bay and Golden Gate bridges etc. Upon arriving in SF we were right in the heart of the tourist district plus transportation to any other part of the city was readily available. No traffic problems, if you want to spend a nice no hassle day in the city, this is the way to go.

By patricklee5150 |

Taking the Ferry to San Francisco abd back to Vallejo is a big part of the fun in our trip. It's so much better than driving. No traffic, no parking hassles and the outrageous parking prices! So, you save on gas, save money with no parking and to me...the best part is there's no being stuck in traffic. And it's a great opportunity to meet and visit with other people on the ferry.

By napa_reviewer |

The Vallejo to San Francisco (and return) ferry is great way to skip the traffic and go into town in an hour - ferries are decent and good camaraderie amongst the passengers. wifi works when not overloaded and cell service in and out. Not so great when the ferry is cancelled and a bus substitutes taking almost 2 hours stuck in horrible traffic ... check the web site before heading down or wait for the next ferry rather than taking the bus.

By Pauline L |

On our final day at the Norcal Pirate festival we took the ferry to San Francisco just to do something different. We had a blast. A round trip adult fare for 2 was around $54 and took about an hour each way. Snacks and such are not as pricey as I thought

By David M |

Boarded the boat in San Francisco and took it to Vallejo to go on the Napa Wine Train. The boat was clean the staff was friendly and the boat left and arrived on time, Gret way to cross the bay.

By Gil S |

The trip to the city of San Francisco is worthy by taking a ferry service and the crew is accommodating when it comes to SAFETY and SERVICES.

By Maria C |

Relaxing to ride on this transportation. Easy access in going to SF wharf. I would ride again in the future when Intake someone to SF wharf.

By ravindrag2 |

Very nice to get in from Vallejo for the trip. Easy to find parking at Vallejo. Much better than driving to San Francisco.

By LoveToTravel1070 |

The Vallejo Ferry is the best way to get from Vallejo to San Francisco. There is limited ferry service to Pier 41 or more frequent boats to the Old Ferry Building on the Embarcadero where Market and California end. You can hop on the Cable Car, Muni, or BART to head up hill. Ferry is pricey but a relaxing journey across the bay with no traffic jams and you leave the driving to someone else. You can get snacks and drinks and relax for the hour trip.

By West Point M |

I loved it nice views food to snack on. Medium-priced. Definitely would do this again. So nice that it ports where there's food and attractions.

By ILoveUSAVacations |

Ferry is a relaxing and scenic way to get to pier 39 in San Francisco. Of course it didn't hurt that it was 70 degrees and a crystal clear day. Sure beats fighting traffic and huge parking rates

By Henry I |

Perfect way to get to SF from the North part of the Bay area!!! You avoid outrageous parking fees and you are dropped off right downtown either at Pier 1 (Ferry Parking) or Pier 39 right next to Fisherman's Wharf! If you qualify, don't forget to ask for the Senior Discount...you'll save 50%!!!

By Barry B |

The view from the Bay is as fabulous as the view of the Bay. Public transportation is SF is easy, Not so much in Vallejo. Great alternative from driving in Bay Area traffic!

By Roberto A |

Highly recommend taking the ferry to go to San Francisco from Vallejo.
Whether you want to beat the traffic or just enjoy the scenery.
The ride is very good. They are reliable. Good parking in Vallejo just across the street. Some restaurants in the terminal or right next to it.
The views both going to San Francisco or coming back are great.
And you'll get to your destination relaxed, not worried that you spent over 1+ hour in a parking lot (HWY 80) or paid $6 and $5 on tolls and who knows how much in parking at the city.

By Liz T |

If you are going to San Francisco to downtown, Pier 39 or Fisherman's Wharf this is an easy way to go and avoid having to hassle with traffic, bridges and parking. Parking in Vallejo is easy and right across from the Ferry Building.

It can be a bit pricey and depends upon how many are in your party and what your needs are.

Can use Uber, Lyft or taxis to get around SF if you need to get to Union Square or outlying areas.

Trip times for leaving either Vallejo or SF vary so you need to check to the schedule to make sure it accommodates the times you wish to travel.

By Nicaman1 |

We take the ferry onece in a while, always is a great trip and new surprises to be seen on the ride. If we go during the week is an early trip with a beautiful view of the sun and the sky, if we go later is always a clear view of the bridges and the ocean. Either time we love taking it and beat the traffic anytime.

By oktopusmark |

I take it all the time... easy to connect to SF MUNI, CalTrain, BART--- what's not to like ... so popular they had to add more trips for 2017!

By JP H |

Whether sightseeing with friends, dinner with your special someone, or taking in a Giants game, the ferry is the only way to go to the city! Very relaxing & smooth.

By Crazy88SD |

Great way to get to SF without dealing with traffic. We left from Vallejo and don't realize there was a SF Giants game, so we didn't make the first ferry. Something to check prior to going. Since we were one of the first in line for the next ferry, we got seats at a table. Worked out really well with the kids and their snacks. Too bad the on board snacks and drinks are cash only. Very limited space outside if you want to take pictures. Inside there was too much ocean spray on the windows to get a good picture. Definitely set up as a commuter ferry and not sight seeing, but still a great way to get around.

By John F |

Many trips on the ferry, to avoid getting across the bay bridge...parking in the city...traffic in the city. Best way to get there in my opinion.

By BeniciaDave |

No parking hassles, no bridges, no (bleeps) trying to cut you off. Park in the garage across the street and take the ferry into SF instead of fighting your way. They'll deliver you to the Ferry Building at the foot of Market or to Pier 41 (check the schedule!) and all you have to do is disembark and start enjoying SF.

Make sure to check the return schedule. Avoid commuter rush hour on workdays, but anything else goes. But most of all, enjoy SF without the hassle of driving!

By 488georgen |

My buddy and I took a trip to a Giants game in SF. This is the only way to go. Sit back, relax and down a couple of Bloody Mary's.

By BijouMom |

The ferry is a great way to get to SF. The ride is approximately an hour and there are no better views of our great bay and cities surrounding SF. It's a good alternate to BART and much more scenic. If you are a senior, the rates cannot be beat! Ferries also go to the ball park for games in town.

By Karen G |

Park and ride to the Pier or AT&T Park to enjoy the Giants game. I have enjoyed riding this ferry for many years and cannot say enough about it. I have always enjoyed tip-top customer service, a smooth and safe ride and have loved meeting the wonderful people riding along with us.

By Jcwill5 |

I had grown up in the Bay Area and had visited SF many times back then, but this was my first time using the Ferry system. We liked what we experienced. It was easy to use, easy to find a seat, easy to get around the city once you arrive at the Ferry building, and pleasant trip. They have a good system in place, and the price was very reasonable considering how aggravating it can be to drive to and in the City. The Vallejo terminal is well laid out, and our boat at 7:45AM was probably less crowded than the earlier, more commuter heavy runs. Parking was easy as well-right across the street and plenty of spaces. I highly recommend it!

By JoAnne C |

Clean comfortable ferry service.Excellent way to go to SF,reasonable price for Seniors. Pleasant employees.

By Brenda M |

Have used this ferry many times to get to SF from Vallejo. Plenty of space on board, the ferry is clean, food and drink is available.

By robgriffith5365 |

Relax, enjoy the views or work on board, avoids traffic, tolls, parking hassles in the city. A good place to do informal team building in transit

By rennyb376 |

A great way to get from San Fran to Napa or Sonoma. You may get a few strange looks while travelling with all of your luggage since this is daily transportation for most of the ferry goers, but so what. It's a great way to see the city from the water. Would do it again, for sure.

Arrange for Enterprise to pick you at the terminal to take you back to their office for your rental car.

By kentcarr |

I live in San Francisco but work in Vallejo.I was without my car for a few days so I used to Ferry to get back to San Francisco. The service was great. Not driving and fighting the traffic I was able to relax and have a drink while taking in the great views of the Bay. Getting home from work has never been so comfortable and relaxing. I would recommend it to all commuters and visitors.

By TiamoItalia |

It is not the cheapest way to get to the City. It is the best way though. What's not great about a boat ride with a bar? Took the Ferry to Pier 1 to go to a Giants game last year. It was one of those still, warm summer days. Sat outside over and back. Just awesome.

By cgirod |

The ferry was great. $9 each way to get to downtown San Francisco in an hour without having to deal with traffic or parking. BUT!! Do not park in the garage across the street from the ferry terminal in Vallejo. It felt a little off when I drove in, very few cars and nobody working there. I parked close to the entrance. When I got back after a lovely dinner in San Francisco, I found (well, heard, really) that someone had stolen two of the catalytic converters off my truck. At least they didn’t get all four. It’s $4800 to replace them. I’m not rich, that’s why I drive a 19-year-old truck. I hate thieves.

By jaguarcancun |

Very secure
The Ferry is fast if you take it for work and you do not want to drive into traffic.
During Summer is fun to see the bay and getting to your place.
It is always on time to arrived and departure

By anakalia6114 |

No need driving on the crazy freeway traffic especially Mon, Friday and long weekend holiday. It's a stress free and tireless by taking the Ferry to City of San Francisco from Vallejo.

By BrenHen70 |

Slightly pricey, $26 RT for a day pass, but totally worth it. They have a special ferry for going to the Giants game, which drops you right at the park. Nice way to travel in and visit the ferry building (market day is Saturday) or pier 39/41.

By patel_kenya |

Very prompt on timings & reliable transport.
We have used the ferry on several occasions & it's very scenic. The buildings look so majestic.

By craig c |

This is great, about $27 round trip from Vallejo to Pier 41. Also stops at the ferry terminal. Park across the street at one of 2 lots or a garage, they lot i parked in was $5 for the day. I got on the boat and went upstairs for a good view. It took about an hour to get into Pier 41. There is a snack bar. It is a little overpriced to me, movie theater type prices. The trip back was easy as well, just get in line and give them your ticket ad it is another hour back. With traffic, bridge tolls and parking this seems, to me like the way to go. Oh, and nice views of the GG bridge and Alcatraz.

By Lee-and-Baby |

The Vallejo-SF ferry is a wonderful way to get to the city. Expect under an hour to get to the SF Ferry Bldg. Plan to pay for Vallejo parking. Both parking and fare can be discounted with prior planning (clipper card and monthly payments) Ferries have plenty of room to relax and wi-fi is available.

By crazy4mickeyinCDA |

Best way to get to SF. relax for an hour, grab a drink at the bar and enjoy the free wi-if..can't beat it.

By Danny S |

San Francisco traffic is no fun. Between a sizable city. heavy commuter population, several bridges to cross, and traffic, driving into the city is a hassle. Instead, consider taking the ferry from Vallejo. The trip takes about an hour and is cost-effective, runs throughout the day, and is quiet and comfortable. Discounts for seniors and the disabled are also available.

As noted in my photos, the ferry is clean, spacious, has some tables for working, and a small food stand for minor snacks and drinks.

The ferry is infinitely preferred to driving and arrival is at the ferry building off the Embarcadero.

Save time, money, and grief. Leave the car at home or hotel and take the ferry. You won't be disappointed.

By josesF946CQ |

Hands down the easiest, smoothest and non-stressful way to get to San Francisco. Always a seat available and there is even a bar to get a drink while u watch the ocean pass by... whats more not to like? :)

By Kris M |

Although plagued by mechanical issues, crippled boats and a less-than stellar schedule, Vallejo's ferry service is the best way into San Francisco: quick, beautiful with a full bar! Although I'm not a commuter (except to Giants' games) I use the ferry service regularly and always enjoy the experience.

By Jediprincess26 |

Boats need maintenance. Boats are always being cancelled leaving many passengers on the docks needing to scramble for busses or other transportation and they give NO refunds. If you buy a ticket, there is NO guarantee you will get a seat or get on the boat you want. Many times the wifi does not work, boat is either too hot or too cold.

By rogica |

clean ferry boat,on time, nice friendly crew.we were delighted to find we got a seniors discount. the boat gives views of golden gate bridge and alcatraz before landing at fishermans wharf. What a great way to get to san fran. relaxing, and exciting way to travel. car park at vallejo was $5 for all day, very reasonable price. Much cheaper than if we had gone on a boat trip, from san fran, but just as good.

By Sirius_Business |

Why fight crazy drivers, traffic in general, bridge tolls,or parking fees? Jump on our boat in Vallejo and have coffee or a Bloody Mary on the way to Fisherman's wharf. Along the way You get views of Mare island, The Al Zampa bridges, the Richmond bridge, San quentin, Alcatraz, Angel island and the Golden Gate before arriving at the Embarcadero. Which is a great jumping off point for many things. Hornblower Yachts is close by as is Blazing saddles bike rental or just graze through all the great seafood venues. You can catch the on and off tour busses there as well. One of my favorites if the weather cooperates is to go to Hillstone, sit out on the pation with a glass of wine and watch the people going by.

By Pork C |

This was the perfect way to get to San Francisco. We parked at the peer in Vallejo and then got on the ferry. The crew was pleasant for a 6 am departure. The coffee and Danish on board were a welcome change. The seats were comfy for a nap to and from the city. The boat has tables so that you can use a tablet or laptop. The views were great since the ferry boat has great big windows.

By Rita B |

Although the ferry is more expensive than taking a Vallejo transit bus to El Cerrito Del Norte BART station and then the BART to San Francisco, the ferry is scenic and a relaxing way to travel. It drops you off at the ferry terminal building in San Francisco. The scheduled ferry service from Vallejo alternates the ferry and a bus, so be aware and look at the schedule carefully. Otherwise, you may be waiting at the wrong location in San Francisco when you are ready to return to Vallejo. The return bus departs from a street location outside the western corner of the building whereas the return ferry leaves from the wharf nearest the western corner of the building. If you plan to stay in San Francisco late into the evening, know your options for the return trip on the day you travel.

My son & I took the ferry to enjoy a day in San Francisco. The drive into the City has gotten so bad that it could take hours to get over the Bay Bridge, then there's parking to find (& afford)--such a hassle--so I saw the TA ferry reviews & thought we'd give it a try. It was amazing. The Vallejo terminal is easy to find, parking is directly across the street & is only $5 for 24 hours. Line to purchase ferry tickets moves quickly & price is reasonable. My only gripe is be sure to check if there's a Giants home game bc if there is, it'll be very crowded & you'll have to plan more time at terminal. We bought ticket for 9:30am ferry, we walked directly to boat at 9:20 & gate was closed & boat was leaving. Ticket agents don't tell you boat leaves when it's full, & this boat was full bc of Giants game. As a result, we had to wait another hour for the next ferry. However, once on board, I was impressed with the comfort of seats, the view, the snackbar & clean bathroom. Return trip was equally nice albeit a smaller boat, but there's something so civilized about a lovely view, comfortable seat & glass of wine! Now that's my kind of commute!! No more driving into crazy SF for me!!!

By acmestuart |

This is a great way to commute as that brings the cost down. Since it's beginning the cost of riding this ferry, like everything else, has gone up and up. At the Vallejo end one now must pay a premium price for a day's parking. However, if one looks at the cost of Vallejo to SF round trip you've got two bridge tolls, parking in SF, price of gasoline and unbearable traffic. Except for the tiny ferry the other ferries are quite civilized. Riders would do well to bring their own eats and drinks as the concession prices can add an extra dimension to the day's expenses, and if possible you'll want to avoid commute hours and those crowds whenever possible.

Had a great round trip on the ferry with my husband & 2 granddaughters. Easiest way to go to SF - Pier 39 and not worry about parking or traffic. Just wish there were more afternoon pick ups from Pier 41 vs having to go to Pier 1 Financial District.

By Bernard P |

Long lineup along the quay as a result of rush seating. May have been better to board across the water to get a better seat.

Limited service on board. Truly meant for commuters

By Marcos C |

Great option for transportation to San Francisco port. Service was on time. Boats clean. They have coffee, drinks and snacks on board. If you use the clipper card you get a discount. Park at Vallejo in front of the pier for 8$ day pass. Credit cards accepted.

By Brian H |

A neat one hour ride across the bay. It goes to the Ferry Terminal and Fisherman's Wharf. There are at least 6 trips a day. Great views of the Golden Gate and Richmond bridges. If it is a warm day grab a seat on the back deck.

By edp7248 |

When living in Sacramento this was a must trip for every out of town guest. Conveniently miss the traffic into and out of the city. Relax. Enjoy the views. Layer and expect it to be cooler than you think.

By Eileen A |

Love this service. A great alternative to driving across the bay to SF and hassling with parking and finding affordable lodging. The ATT Park Ferry is the best. The only way to go.

By Gay T |

For the price and stress free mode of traveling, it was totally the way to go! From the people at the ticket counter, to the guys taking the tix, all way around, it was a GREAT experience! I would totally recommend this!

By Jeanne E |

what a treat! Take it "just because"! You won't be sorry, if you love the bay and look for chances to get out on it!

By Angela I |

The relaxed style of travel can't be beat, and you will always find a seat. It it pricey and takes an entire hour one-way, but totally worth it if I-80 is backed up (which is often these days).

By wheretogonow |

Although somewhat expensive for travel to S.F., especially for couples and families, you can't beat the ferry for comfort and convenience. Understood is you will be traveling to the Embarcadero Center or areas close by. Otherwise, Bart can be more economical. Exception......senior citizens get a huge break.

By Dink21 |

Nice relaxing way to go into San Francisco. Nice view of bridges and the ocean. Liked that it left right on time. We were both inside and on the deck. Deck was a little crowded.

By Ivette Mendez-Kelly |

If you are in the Napa Valley area or wanna go there from San Francisco (or the other way around), and it's rush hour...don't drive or Uber...take the ferry! $14 one way trip and every 30 mins, takes exactly 1 hr one way. You will have a beautiful view of the Bay, saving some money and time! Check the schedules on line. Be at least 15 mins before, because it's a 1st come first serve and during rush hr it can get full fast. You can sit inside or stand outside.

By Terry H |

We read about Vallejo on line and it was a brilliant alternative to paying SF prices and the turmoil of the freeway. Ferry was cheap and we had fun chatting to the baseball fans who use the service to the stadium.
Bought a beer and sat up on top in the sun taking in the sights as we cruised our way across the Bay to Pier 39

By Jane D |

It was a very smooth ride, the ship was clean and the staff was wonderful. Not sure what to expect but the ride to and from San Francisco far exceeded my expectations. Great way to get to the City with minimal stress and meet some of the nicest people!!

By kentonbear |

Took this ferry to Oracle park.
Great views of bay and bridges.
On board service was great.
On time departure and got dropped off at the park just as advertised.
Oracle park service will sell out on game day so keep that in mind, buy early on line to avoid this situation.
Clean comfortable ride.

By maryf55 |

This is the easiest way to get to the City, especially to a Giants game, but costs about three times as much as BART. Ticket prices are going up starting today, too.
I always buy my ticket ahead of time, or go early. ( You can buy tickets for the AT&T ferry online.) I have found fellow passengers to be very friendly, unless they are commuting to work and are feeling displaced by tourists or fans when it gets busy.
It makes visiting SF so smooth and simple-- no driving, no parking, and no headache!

By freezinginfinland |

The SF Bay Ferry is an excellent way to get to San Francisco from Vallejo. It takes 55 minutes with a smooth ride without the traffic stress.

By USNBreeden |

Always love going to San Francisco on the ferry. Be careful if your on the patio though it is windy & can get cold haha all around a fun little adventure to get the day started

By No1tazfan |

It's a very pleasant, nice ride into San Francisco. They serve drinks and snacks (for a price, that's wont break you).

By SocietyandCulture |

We have been taking the ferry for 5 years. Service and professionalism ranges on any given day. Mornings are extremely busy with commuters and there are some "regulars" who play poker who are incredibly rude, reserving seats and not hesitating to tell women and seniors to go away. The staff does nothing to deter this rude and bully-like behavior. If traveling during off hours it can be quite nice, and is my preferred way to commute to SF. They do provide service for Giants games, which is both good and inconvenient. For example, during the playoffs last year, we were told there would be two ferries traveling. When there were only 20 or so folks for the second ferry, they told us we would have to take the full ferry and stand the whole way-one hour. We refused as we knew it was against policy and was a safety issue. We were not refunded our fares and had to drive in to make it on time to work. After five years, it is still my preferred way to travel, but only if traveling during non rush hour times.

By Kiaora H |

We're gonna take the ferry across from Vallejo to SF, $15 one way, but the ferry itself were not big enough to to take everyone in line. So we returned the tickets and took the car instead, losing $6 in parking fee.

By archer6325 |

There is a reason this is the number one attraction in Vallejo over Six Flags. The ferry service to San Francisco was very efficient except we went on the day that the Giants were playing the A's. So the ferry terminal was super crowded. We missed the first ferry because it was sold out. We had to wait an hour and a half for the next ferry and it was packed also. 1 hour to the ferry building in SF from Vallejo. Show up early and get in line early if the Giants are playing.

By bugnurse56 |

A simple park and ride- you might find the entrance to the Vallejo ticket booth for the ferry challenging-it is on the opposite corner from the ferry over to the right. The desk clerk gave minimal information, such as "you must also purchase a ticket back". That would have been helpful to know at 8:00 pm boarding the last ferry.

By Deirdre H |

This is the second time I’ve taken the San Francisco ferry from the ferry building to Vallejo. It is a very well organized clean and comfortable mode of transportation. As a senior citizen I paid $7.10 for the one hour ferry ride. It does stop at Pier 41 briefly to pick up additional passengers and then continues to Vallejo. I highly recommend it.

By Cheryl C |

This was a beautiful, relaxing trip. I had a great time just meeting the people on the ferry. It wasn't very crowded in the early afternoon. Lots of good pictures were taken. There was a good selection of beverages to choose from, cash only though. I bought my return ticket at the time of purchase. My return ticket said Pier 39, however it really didn't mean that, At 8:00 pm I returned to Pier 39, along with the other families, however, the sign at the ferry showed a return trip to Alameda. When we asked, we were told, "your return ferry leaves from the Ferry Terminal 1 mile that way". We all frantically ran to the Terminal, only to see the last ferry pull off. The good news is the ferry ticket was also good for the bus trip to Vallejo. The bad news is the bus left at 10:30 pm. Some of us found things to do. There are good places for dessert in San Francisco. Others took a taxi $$$. The bus was arrived at 10:10 and we promptly left at 10:30pm. The ride ws smoothed and we were dropped off at the terminal. If it weren't for the lack of clarity for ferry departure, I would have given this a 5. I do like adventure though, hence the 4.

By HurricaneFinley |

This was a family trip that included all adult siblings. We had a blast riding through the Bay to San Francisco. Parking was $5 on a Sunday. The weather was beautiful; the sights were gorgeous. It is a history lesson all the way with Mare Island, all the bridges, the many islands and the ever growing cityscape on the horizon. The Irish Coffees warmed the hands and the innards. Seats were comfortable and offered good views. If you want a blast of wet chill, stand on the back deck and feel the engines throb and the rooster tails sparkle. Two different stops give you a chance to choose your departure place. Mass and private transit are always available. It's San Francisco!

By luv2wine52 |

Taking the Vallejo Ferry to SF Ferry Building is fun, relaxing, and a great way to avoid SF traffic and parking woes. The Ferry Building has lots to offer, and if you go on a Saturday theres a great farmers market outside. Good happy hour at Epic Steakhouse. Other restaurants around have great food also. Love taking the Ferry!

By Ed B |

Ferry is great! Great seats (no standing), great views, just under an hour trip. Refreshment bar. Clean restrooms. Upper & lower decks, including outdoor on top. Senior rates available & can use BART card.

By SonomaCowgirl |

Best way to get into the City - not to mention all the great food vendors & shopping inside Ferry Terminal and Embarcadero One Street Vendors. Love taking the ferry, it's so comfortable, scenic and peaceful.

By Teaveling |

The Vallejo Ferry terminal is clean and efficient. The parking lot is a bit scary as there seem to be a number of homeless people living in the brush and the neighboring park. They were swearing up a storm both when we arrived and the next day when we returned. I bought tickets in the terminal and also tickets for the return the next day all at once. Good thing because I couldn't find a ticket window to save my life at Pier 41 or anyone who knew anything about the return trip to Vallejo. Anyway, being familiar with the Seattle ferries, these are NOTHING LIKE THOSE! Man these things are speedy!. Went to the Ferry Bldg downtown. It was a quick 1 hr trip and the Ferry Bldg is sure something to see! All those little shops and vendors. Amazing. I was very glad to see so many patrons at the shops. Very convenient,

By Victoria M |

Two children, one adult and one senior traveled from Vallejo to San Francisco ferry terminal. It was a Monday 1030 departure, parking was full in the first two lots but ferry still had outdoor seating. Nice, smooth ride about an hour long. Walk from ferry terminal to pier 39 was about 20 mins for our party. The 515 ferry home was full and a line up had started before 5. The views leaving San Francisco were amazing though it was chillier in the late afternoon. Overall a great experience, I would just make sure to give yourself 30 mins prior to departure.

By Gary A |

Best way to travel from the north bay to SF. Beautiful views, reliable service. The outside deck is perfect on warm days. Drinks and snacks available on board. Not to be missed!

By Olive O |

I've only had the pleasure of riding the ferry from Vallejo to SF one time, so far.... and to my surprise , found it a delightful, smooth and relaxing ride. If I was a commuter for work, I'd surely choose this method over using my car. Think of all the stress, gas, pollution, and time it saves !

By Lloyd L |

Visited a friend in the Kaiser Hospital on Geary Street in S.F. Just took the ferry and then walked from the Ferry Building to Geary Boulevard and caught the 38 Geary Muni Bus. Very convenient. No driving nor parking involved.

By JeffreyTravel |

We took this Ferry Ride into San Francisco to watch a Giants Game. It was great.

There was easy parking at the terminal where you board the Ferry. THey have a nice waiting area for you where you can also get something to drink or a limited menu for food. There is a restaurant or two next door.

Ther Ferry was very clean and on time. There is a small bar on the Ferry. The ride into San Francisco was an hour. It is really an interesting ride. Many interesting sights to see on this hour ride. We docked in San Francisco and we were right in the middle of everything. No traffic at on the Ferry Ride. It was about a mile and a half walk to Giants Stadium. It was a very enjoyable walk.

When the Giants game was over, we were able to ride the Ferry right from the Stadium. It was great. No walk. The Ferry was on time it it was a blast riding back.

This was a great way to get into San Franciso. Loved it.

By Don T |

Relaxing trip, always on time and beats driving everytime. Parking at the Vallejo ferry terminal building is a breeze.

By drgumm |

fast and efficient..very professional..easy to find and buy tickets for..clean and very user friendly

By Nite_ICU_RN |

By using the ferry, we saved time and money as opposed to driving in each day. A relaxing trip in and out of San Francisco

By AroundThaWayGirl |

We took the ferry today for the first time. I may actually go to SF more often now. Very comfortable seats, not crammed together, plenty of elbow and leg room and wifi. You also have the opportunity to do some great sightseeing, we even saw a dolphin on the way back. We bought day passes which was really nice, $24. Will definitely take the ferry again and what's cool is they go to Napa and Sonoma as well.

By Lynne A |

You can grab a beer or a coffee and enjoy your view of the bay and San Francisco. You don't have the stress of traffic. But get there early, it is quite popular.

By travelsalot122864 |

By Doug Kelley |

It has been years since I had taken a trip from Vallejo to SF. Great experience and will do it again on my next visit.

By Brookspal |

What a super easy way to get into San Francisco for commuting, ball games or just a leisure stop. Boats are quick and clean. Some nice views as you sail through the bay. Always an enjoyable time on the water.

By Naturegirl13 |

Best commute, to get to San Francisco. Free WiFi. Snack bar and drinks. Safest way to get to the City. Last departure from San Francisco, around 7:00pm. Check schedule for time.

Been a long term occasional rider and a short time monthly passer. The ride is always without stress and almost always on time. What more could you want ?

By Bill H |

My wife, daughter and granddaughter had stayed in Napa with friends to watch 4th of July Eve fireworks from their back yard. We decided to take the ferry into San Francisco the morning of the 4th to have lunch at Fishermen's Wharf and to spend the day at the Ferry Building and Pier 39 areas. The pier in Vallejo was very convenient, with ample parking ($5 for the day) and great service both in port and on the water. We disembarked at the Ferry Building then walked up to Fisherman's wharf. On the return trip we caught the Ferry at Pier 41 (I think, anyway it was between Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. It's about a one hour trip with some great scenery, especially the Golden Gate Bridge and the City Skyline as you are arriving in San Francisco. Also very reasonable, especially for Senior. The only cautionary note is if you ride outside (which we did going to S.F., it is very, very windy. But it was a very smooth ride. We will do this again.

By Carrie C |

I have taken the ferry many times but never with luggage for a cruise. There were others doing the same thing and plenty of room.

By Robert B |

Unbeknownst to me a Super Bowl activity was taking place in San Francisco, which explained the packed ferry from Vallejo to San Francisco and back. Nevertheless, the ferry crews were on their toes and both trips were handled professionally.
All day parking cost 5.00 in a city lot across the street and my senior discount cut the fare almost in half.
You'll need your license plate number when paying for parking.
There's a brewpub and coffee shop in the Vallejo terminal that are perfect for chilling after a day in the big city.

By jaci2016 |

I like taking the ferry to San Francisco's waterfront. It drops down on the embarcadero where its all going on. There's a great public market there to if youre hungry when you arrive. They also sale snacks on the boat.

By marceldu |

I love taking the ferry over to SF from Vallejo! The ride is smooth, and the views are great! It's a short 45-50 minutes across the bay, and get to go by East Brother LightStation, Angel Island, and more. I wish the coffee was a little better, but you can always grab a good cup at Panama Bay coffee shop before you get on. Highly recommend the ferry!!

By Maryfml |

Best ferry ride in the Bay Area! Great service with a friendly smile😄 What a thrill it is every time I board the Vallejo ferry!👍🏼👌🏼

By Scottydoughnut |

The Vallejo ferry is a great way to get to SF from Vallejo. With a Clipper card it's 10.20 each way. The larger ferries are definitely mor comfortable than the older boats.

Drawbacks are parking gets full before the mid morning ferry, limited schedule and my biggest complaint is the non commute ferry will wait for stragglers. I was on a 10:30 ferry the day of a Giants day game and the ferry didn't leave until 10:50 because many fans were waiting in line to buy tickets. Same thing happened on Good Friday when a lit of people showed up late and the ferry was 1/2 hour late leaving.

Good relaxing way to travel but need to focus on leaving on time. Leave people once and I guarantee they're on time the next time.

By MakingMemories317 |

A friend suggested we try the ferry for a day trip to San Francisco and all I can say is that I wish we had tried this sooner! This is the best way to go to SF - you avoid the traffic and parking fees. Both the rides to and back were right on time. The waiting lines were pretty long since it was a game day, but everyone definitely got on the ferry and it was a smooth ride in both directions. There were snacks and beverages available and the ferry was very clean. This was also a great way for those from out of town to see the city skyline for the first time. We've already decided that this will be our go-to for travel to the city from now on!

By jane k |

I will never drive into San Francisco again. Pleasant and stress free way to go. Have a cup of coffee, read the paper and enjoy the view. Walk off the ferry and get a cab and the city is yours to enjoy. No traffic or parking hassles.

By GriffinCrowley |

I take the ferry into San Francisco all the time, and it's always such a wonderful trip! Every employee seems to take such great pride in working for the Bay Area Ferry System. Everyone is always kind, efficient, and super helpful! Being out on the water is such a beautiful experience, and the Bay Area is a magical part of the world. Take the ferry! You will enjoy it!

By Bonjour28 |

The ferry is a great way to travel between Vallejo and San Francisco. By the time that you factor in your gas, tolls, and parking it is much more economical. The ferry is always clean and the staff are always friendly. Think about getting a Clipper Card for reduced fares if you are going to make the trip with any regularity.

By Holly J |

The problem with the ferry is that if you don't get there 30-60 minutes early to get in line, then you might not get a spot because it fills up. This means you can show up in the morning just to find out that you'll have to wait an hour or more for the next one ... and at the end of the day you have to wait in line for an hour or more to get a spot going home. An extra two hours tacked onto one's commute time in this way is just not do-able on a regular basis. Also, all this waiting in line (standing) is difficult for the elderly and mobility-challenged.

Instead, you should be able to buy a ticket for a particular time, and then just hop on 5-10 minute before departure for your guaranteed spot.

By Karen M |

The ferry ride was inexpensive and interesting. The staff was great and helpful with information, it is convenient with good drop off points.

By Abbeysmom1 |

This was the best way to go to the game. No one had to drive and we had a stress free 50 min ride to the game. I will say you need to stay for the whole game and find some patience on the way home. Our Ferry was the last to arrive and we had to wait for the others to load and leave before ours could dock. That was a pain in the butt with tired kids.

By rmromandia |

Found ferry easily--it is at the end of the freeway so you can't miss it. Park on right, pay $6 for all day, cross street, grab ticket & a latte, get on board and away we go! Same comfy ride back, car easy to spot, and home to wine & relaxation. I like SF, especially when guests come visit, but the driving and parking make me hate going there. This beats all that stress.

By SMChico2 |

I have driven to San Francisco across the Bay Bridge perhaps a hundred times over the years but have always been bothered by the traffic and difficult parking. Especially in the last five years or so. When doing touristy stuff with family and friends I have usually been the one stressed out as I am the one doing the driving. For the first time took the ferry from Vallejo and loved it! There is plenty of parking at $5 for 24 hours. If you have the Clipper Card you do not have to wait in the long line to buy tickets and directly go to the line for boarding. And the card also provides a price discount of over $3 each way. The sights of the San Rafael bridge, Angel Island, Alcataraz, Golden Gate, and the Bay Bridge are fantastic, when the weather is right. And of course the city skyline. Takes about an hour to the Ferry Building. Some trips will also take you to Pier 41 in an additional 15 minutes for the same price. We took our return ferry from Pier 41. Highly recommend this experience!

By msscotland2015 |

This is the only way to travel to SF from Vallejo, never had a bad trip in the 14 years I have lived here. Love it.

By cancerlife2010 |

I live in Vallejo, my daughter lives in san Francisco, and when I choose not to drive, I take the ferry, it is such a treat, I love all the beautiful scenery of the inlet of the bay, the special treat, is that you pass Alcatraz, literally a couple hundred feet from it, you can take great photos with this opportunity, also on board, they have a bar with real adult drinks, coffee, and if I'm not mistaken, I think they serve simple food items too, but definitely a good variety of snacks. It takes about 45 minutes one way, and must make sure you get there at least 15 minutes before take off, believe me, they leave right on schedule. The gate will close 5 minutes before they actually take off. So better be there 15 minutes before or forget it. Bathrooms are clean, plenty seats inside and outside, and lots of outlets to charge your devices. I love using the ferry system, and you will too.

By John G |

We had made reservations for ferry and the game. We arrived at ferry one half hour before departure. Parking was easy and close to ferry terminal. Ferry departed at 11:00 AM for a 12:45 PM game. There is a bar and snacks available on ferry. The scenic ferry ride took one hour and let us off about 200 feet from entrance to ballpark. The ferry departs minutes after the last out is made. If you are a slow walker or have a disability you may have to leave before end of game to get to return ferry on time.

By kerrylim |

This is a beautiful way to get from Vallejo to Pier 39 or the San Francisco Ferry Building and then to all that San Francisco has to offer. It takes just about an hour each way, every moment surrounded by fabulous views you probably will never get to see any other way. Occasionally my husband and I take the ride just to get lunch at the Ferry Building. My only wish is that there would be a later ferry from SF back to Vallejo so I could stay and play into the evening.

By Sandra F |

Looking for something different to do on a weekend? Why not take the fabulous Vallejo Ferry to San Francisco. Some departures dock at the San Francisco Ferry Building and then take a detour to Pier 41 (near the famous Pier 39 attraction). This is the BEST way to travel to San Francisco: no smog, no traffic, no stress from driving. The 60 minute ride is an hour of fun, especially when returning at night. The scenery is spectacular.

WARNING: the 10am Saturday morning run is always jammed-packed. I highly recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to departure because this boat fills up quickly.

By Steve W |

Smooth ride on a relatively clear day, and best against the flow of the peak hour travellers.
San Francisco to Vallejo in the morning, and the return after 2pm.

We took the ferry from Vallejo to Ferry terminal. It was on time . It was very clean. Great way to see the bay on a sunny day.

By AnitaRick |

We take the Ferry when we cruise out of SF. It is relaxing and a great start to our trip. We also take it with family to SF to have brunch at Americano that is walking distance from the Ferry building. We think the round trip cost is very fair.

By MinooTravels |

Taking the ferry from Vallejo, CA to San Francisco was a very enjoyable experience. Would suggest you do this on a weekend as, during the week, you may not be able to find parking because of commuters. There is a parking garage and outside parking lot right across from the ferry terminal for $5.00 (credit cards are accepted). Inside the terminal, go to the information desk for a map of San Francisco and a booklet, "Savings Fun Pack." A coupon in this booklet saved us 20% on lunch at Pier 39. Also, start lining up for entrance to the ferry at least 20 minutes before the departure time in order to get the seat you want. The ferry we took had limited seating on the outside deck.

By John F |

The thing I enjoy most about the ferry system is that it keeps out of the car. I don't have to sit in traffic or pay bridge tolls or pay for parking once I reach my destination. The ferries are clean have comfortable seats and you can bring your own snacks or purchase from snack shop on board.

By Monica L |

The ferry is on time, comfortable and serves hot, cold beverages and snacks. What more do you want from the ferry?

We use the Fairy Servive occasionally instead of driving into San Francisco. So convenient, fast, fun and a great way to see the beautiful vistas only the Bay Area

A fantastic alternative to driving and fighting for a parking spot is the San Francisco Bay Ferry. I took my grandchildren to Vallejo and caught the ferry to Pier 41 this summer and they had a blast! The ferry ride is about an hour, and then onto Pier 39 for food and fun!

By Debbie A |

I've been taking the San Francisc bay ferry from Vallejo to SF for 3 years. Great way to commute, great crew always friendly, the ride is comfortable! Coffee in the morning & cocktail on the way home. The crew greats you by name & just make you feel special. I can't say enough GREAT THINGS.

Commuters take the Vallejo Ferry to SF to work. I take it for pleasure and play. The staff onboard is welcoming ....from the gatekeeper to the competent staff onboard. The views for the l hour trip are spectacular. I even take the Ferry from Vallejo to the airports...a short walk and BART ride from the Embarkadaro station. I live in Benicia,CA

By Goodnight7 |

This is truly the way to experience your first stay in San Francisco. You arrive at the port in style. The rute takes about 50 min and is quite fast. But you enter the famous port and can view a skyline like no other. Also to sail the San Fransisco Bay is part of the experience including the many bridges you pass.

By Taina C |

The ferry is organized and very timely. We enjoyed the trip from Vallejo to San Francisco. Taking the ferry was very convenient!

By Camackey |

I use the bay area ferry every week going to work. It's such a peaceful way to travel to San Francisco. You can save a lot of money if you get a clipper card. The ferry is pricey if you compare the price with Bart or Bus, however, it's more enjoyable and relaxing.

By Barbara F |

The ferry is an excellent way to avoid the traffic and enjoy the Bay views. It’s conveniently located and served by public transportation.

By Becky T |

Avoid Vallejo at all costs. Went to San Francisco for the day, left car in parking garage. Trip was interrupted when we got the message daughter’s backpack was found in garage. When we made it back, rental car window busted out. Since discovered the small town is ranked 20 on the most car thefts in the country.

By CASue_7 |

Terrific way to get from Vallejo or Sacramento area to San Francisco. Parking is $5 (BAD NEWS: some cars were broken into while we were gone - DON'T LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR). Ferry is on time and the ferry to Pier 41 at 9:30 a.m. stops first at the Ferry Building for those wanting downtown SF. Ferry is just a tiny little walk to Pier 39. Return trip was also right on time. Cost is about $28 round trip, with a senior discount and kids 5 and under free.

Very popular way to commute or take a day trip to the city. Ferry is clean, crew is professional and friendly. Very dependable and always on time! What more can you ask for! Passengers are respectful and crew does not allow for children running on boat. Love taking my nap and in 60 minutes I am getting off at the ferry building.

I've been on this ferry route twice. When you can't take an overnight getaway, this is the first best thing. The first time in February, the weather was not so good; I went on the trip just after noon, got to SF while the rain abated. Walked to Fisherman's Wharf, had lunch, it started raining. Rained the whole walk and trip back to Vallejo. It was great except I found out my raincoat no longer repels water. LOL. The second trip, in early April, the wind was blustery. I sat on the outdoor deck on the stern the whole time, no coat, sleeveless. It was a wind bath. The trip is almost an hour...feels like a cruise. For the price of the ticket, the scenery is amazing...sights of the Mare Island shipyards, open water of the bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, San Quentin, Angel Island, Alcatraz, the Ferry Terminal. You might even see some kind of sea animal pop its body up out of the water to disappear again, which happens often. People going to SF have the Embarcadero, going to Vallejo, there is lots of downtown activity in a quaint, historic town full of restaurants and local shops.

The ferry is economical and worry free especially when compared to driving to San Francisco. Pay a reasonable fee and sit back and enjoy the ride. We sat outside and experienced the beautiful weather. I love it and will take it again next time I want to go to the city.

By urania95 |

We took the ferry to meet some friends for the day. Super fast & fun ride. Though taking back from the SF Ferry Building it took us some time to realize we had to go inside to buy tickets. Best to give yourself extra time if you are a tourist.

We love to spend the day at Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. The ferry trip from Vallejo is scenic and the children love going outside to the upper deck . The ferry is always punctual and you don't have to hassle traffic into the city. Very relaxing.

By Sunny A |

This is the most convenient way to go to SF. Only about 40 mins ride from Vallejo and hassle free. Parking at vallejo marina is only $5 a day. But I suggest you come early. Parking lot gets full pretty early from regular commuters.

By pam651 |

Great way to travel into San Fran.
Service was clean and on time. Really easy to get tickets and use and lovely way to approach the city.

By Linda L |

The very best way to travel to SF. No bridge, parking fees, no driving stress, and friendly staff make this the VERY BEST travel option. Once you get to SF, there is plenty of public transportation to get you to your destination.

By John D |

San Francisco Bay Ferry Vallejo Service to AT&T Park is the most convenient way to get to weekday day games. Special ferry tickets need to be purchased and this can be done online or at the Ferry Terminal. The Ferries take you directly to the Park and arrive about 45-60 minutes before the game starts. When the game is over the Ferry is waiting for you and leaves the Park about 30 minutes after the game ends. Public transportation does not get any better.

This can be a very smart way to get to San Francisco, if the Ferry Terminal works for you as you point of arrival into the city. Luckily, this will usually work okay. From there most of the places I'd want to go in the work-a-day world is within 15 or 20 minutes walk (walking like an urbanite - fast!).

The ferry is pretty quick (about 50 minutes from dock to dock), and would be quicker except for the slow approach/departure you've got to make on the Vallejo side, for about the last 10-15 minutes - it helps keep the wake damage down because of the confined passage. The price is still pretty reasonable, $13.40 adult/ 6.70 seniors&kids(5-18), one way. You don't have to pay tolls, and the biggee - don't have to find a place to park.

The staff was very good at helping people needing it to get on and off the boats, and were pretty cheerful.

Downside - the parking lot at the Vallejo side had a vehicle broken in to it. There was something left out for a miscreant to see through the window, enough to take the chance at a smash and grab. The ground around the passenger door was littered with broken sidepane glass. A suggestion, folks. DO NOT park your car right next to any large shrubs, bushes or trees where a bad guy can hide while he reaches out with his hammer or rock, and prepares his ingress point. Put it under a light (in case you're there real early or late), and as close to the front as you can. At least make it a little harder on them. Oh, yeah, and don't leave anything out for prowlers to see.

Love taking this ferry into San Francisco. Just wish they would bring back more of the service times they had when we first moved to the area. It's really a bummer you can't take the ferry into the city for dinner, because the ferries don't run that late. My husband does really enjoy taking it into work. Saves so much $$ on parking, gas, & tolls.

Who took a day to go to San Francisco downtown area Pier 39. Went to Madame Tussauds had a great time. Did some shopping. Had lots of fun. Took the ferry back slept on the way beat traffic it was great. Thank you

As a person of leisure I occasionally have the desire to visit San Francisco. As a Vallejo resident, my travel method of choice is the Vallejo ferry. I have found the trip across the bay to be relaxing and enjoyable. I usually bring a book along to read, and others have been observed working on their laptops or chatting with their neighbors. The Vallejo ferry is a great way to get to San Francisco from Vallejo.

By Douglas G |

If you're headed down, from the Sacramento area, to catch a Giants game this is the only way to travel! It's a relaxing, inexpensive ride and you get dropped off right by the park. No hassles with the overpriced parking in San Francisco or tolls! You can enjoy the views as you travel across the bay and even enjoy a nice cocktail or two.

By Fiona T |

Ono the advice of the front desk associate at our hotel, we took the ferry to San Francisco. An inexpensive and hassle-free way to travel: inexpensive (especially for seniors), comfortable and scenic. No worries about driving or parking in the city: you can relax on board, eat and drink as you wish and arrive in a convenient location.

By Nick M |

I have used the ferry boat to and from San Francisco. It is a very relaxing way to commute to your job.
Like other public transit, you won't have to stress out on driving to and from work. It is not as crowded
as the BART on high commuter hours. I recommend using this service to anyone who would want to relax
while riding a public transportation.

By Crt1943 |

The ferry is a great way to get into San Francisco. The ride from Vallejo is very scenic, the seats are comfortable and you can get a large Bloody Mary on your way to SF. No alcohol coming back though. The ferry took us right to the door of the ATT Park and waited there until after the Giant's game and then back to Vallejo. The ferry was clean and the staff helpful. What a delightful way to get to SF. Hint - line up very early for a seat with a view.

By Rosee P |

Efficient, clean, handled a large crowd very well. The ride is one hour from Vallejo to the Embarcadero. Recommend highly, especially if you plan to go to a baseball game. Beat the traffic, cheap parking, and enjoy San Francisco without having to deal with your car!

By bb0314 |

There are a number of ferries you can use to get to/from SF. This week we drove from Walnut Creek to Vallejo and took the boat to the Ferry Bldg to go out to lunch and do some grocery shopping. The trip takes about an hour and there are a number for very comfortable seats as well as an open upper deck. There's actually a lot to see en route. Or, you can enjoy hot or cold beverage and snacks or even beer, wine or hard liquor. This is a wonderful way to commute or avoid SF rush hour traffic and let someone else drive. These boats are big and you will not feel like you are on a boat. There are clean, large restrooms and the boat is clean and appears well maintained. I think we paid $6.00 to go to SF and we got a ride home. Believe me, the boat would have been far less stress and it would NOT have taken us nearly 3 hours in rush hour traffic to get homeI think this is an under valued attraction in the East Bay and certainly ecological. If we use it more, we'll be able to have more boats. It's also really cheap sightseeing!

By Gene G |

Park $, then my Senior clipper card makes it easy to Ferry Building, then the street car works for me. From Benicia it is 7 Miles and no bridge versus bart. I like it, coming back the line wraps around the ferry Building,

By JaniceIan |

This is a very convenient alternative if you do not want to drive going to SFO. The ferry is clean and the staff is very helpful.

By Andrew P |

A great way to get from Vallejo to the San Francisco Ferry Building. I love the spectacular views. However, it is a bit pricey ($13.00 each way), to use as a daily commute. Something you should really do at least once for the experience. The trip is pretty long (about 1 hour dock to dock).

By Gratitude14 |

Such a relaxing way to get to the park. No hassel! Your are dropped off before the game & picked up when the games over. No parking fees or stress walking in large crowds to get your car. The conversation with others coming home depends on win
or loss! Best way to go in my opinion!

By Dave L |

They do a good job of keeping the boat on schedule, which is great if you have appointment you have to be someplace at a certain time. The entire boat is kept clean, and the restrooms are very nice and kept clean.

By Jen P |

The service offered on board the Vallejo service is better than it needs to be. Let's face it, we who commute would board any crummy old ferry that got us downtown. But this run is especially nice, with a quite nice snack bar including coffee, beer, wine, and good pastries. The ride is comfortable on these catamarans that fly upbay and down, sending up spray along the the sides. There's a seat for everyone, and when the windows are clean the view is especially wonderful, ranging from the industrial cranes and warehouses on Mare Island to the green sides of Angel Island, with a view to the Golden Gate on the West side and the East Bay communities on the other. Also, I have to say that at least half the crew are exceptionally welcoming and give an impression of competence and teamwork. My only complaint is that on some of the boats, the air conditioning can't keep up with the cooling needs and the crew don't seem to believe in just leaving the door open to get airflow.

By Connie R |

If you're looking for a fun, stress free way to travel to San Francisco from the East Bay area, try the Ferry out of Vallejo. It's a great way to get to the Ferry Building along the Embarcadero ,or go to Pier 39 for a day trip. The view form the ferry is the best. It passes under the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and passes by Alcatraz Island. It gives great perspective where everything is located along the San Francisco Bay and the ferry boat itself is a bit of an adventure. One can sit inside and enjoy the ride or go up top and sit outside and experience the salt air and the sea breezes. There's a bar for food and drink available on the first deck and it's a great way to while away an hour with no worries about the commute traffic. All in all well worth the price of a ride and there's plenty of parking available too.

By Luna and Rhea |

If you need to get from the Vallejo/Benicia area to San Francisco, this ferry is a really good choice. It runs often, is modestly priced, and takes almost exactly the same time as driving down I-80 and across the Bay Bridge with a whole lot less hassle. You arrive relaxed and within a short walk of many buses, BART, and cable cars. The only reason that I didn't give it five stars is that there's no deck. You have to ride inside.

By LadybugLens |

This ferry is always on time, friendly service and fantastic ride. The scenery can't be beat. To the East just North of the Richmond San Rafael Bridge there is an old lighthouse which is now a Bed and Breakfast run by the National Park Service. Don't forget to look West to spy the Golden Gate between Tiburon and Angel Island.

By Walt R |

Nice large comfortable vessels with bar/snacks/restrooms glide at speed over the water allowing a quick easy round trip to San Francisco from a port about 10 miles from Napa Valley (Vallejo, CA). Views not only of the surrounding bays, hills, etc., but Alcatraz, Bay Bridge, The Golden Gate, and you land around Fisherman's Wharf. All this in comfortable seating. Sit or stand; inside or outside. A great value and good way of avoiding a lot of traffic to visit SF. Passengers only; no cars.

By Ivan Y |

The ferry service from SF to Valejo or vice versa is a good alternative to driving. It takes about 1 hour. The adult one-way ticket is $14, the senior (and child ?) ticket is half a price. There are tours to the Napa valley which start from Valejo, so for people who stay at SF and want to visit Napa wineries, this ferry service is an option to keep in mind.
The ferry's capacity is about 200 people. The sailing is smooth, there is almost no waves in the bay.
There is a free Wi-Fi service and a bar with alcohol and snacks (alcohol is not served at the time fans are returning from the games).
The ferry is clean, but old, small cosmetic touch-up would be really appreciated.

By Laura M |

Getting into San Francisco is normally a pain in the butt, tons of traffic, constant road work, it's just awful. But taking the ferry over is so nice. You can sit and have a snack, or do your make up and you are there before you know it.

By SteamyNytz |

Used to take the ferry when attending KFOG Radio's Ka-Boom fireworks display in May. Ferries were alwways clean, and the crew was courteous. Like the twin hulled ferries as they always ride more smoothly than the single hull ones.

By Kendy S |

Clean ship, nice way to travel as an alternate to driving. Nice to see city from the water. Get there early, they cut off taking passengers and you’re left til the next one.

By 31Emma31 |

Ferry was on time and passengers had each one a comfortable seat. The device connectivity was great good and the table was big enough for passengers to share. The ride was great.

relaxing, no stress with traffic to go to the city. feel like a tourist enjoying our own backyard. Senior discount also a plus.

By Angela H |

I want to start this review off with nothing but accolades for the wonderful service and hard work of the crew of the ferry. I have taken this ferry to San Francisco for years and have enjoyed my time on the ferry each and every time. Unfortunately, this past Tuesday when I was with friends that positive experience quickly soured. On Tuesday when it was my turn to pay for my ticket at the window the woman who's name is Amy refused to allow me to purchase a disability ticket, as I did not bring my car's registration with me. She was extremely rude and belligerent to me as she basically told me I was not considered handicapped even though all of my doctors, blue handicapped placard, evident use of a cane, limp, and a bone stimulator was evidently attached to my back. Surprised, I told her I didn't have my cars registration with me as I rode in with friends due to the fact I had major back surgery a few weeks ago. I suppose I should have had the paperwork but her belligerent and argumentative manner, where she refused to allow for the fact that I was handicapped (for 7 years now) was unjust. Her lack of common sense and empathy placed a dark cloud over my first trip in several years, this small trip was my reward for several surgeries, horrible pain, learning how to walk again for the third time and general rehabilitation I have had to endure for the past few years. This reward, which I had been looking forward, too was marred. Perhaps it is the policy of the Ferry company to refuse the discount if someone didn’t have all of their paperwork identifying their evident, plain as day, disability, but I can say that in the past 7 years I have never had anyone request such paperwork.
I also want to note that several folks ahead of me in line were able to claim they were senior citizens and they received that discount but she never checked their ID's, she just took them for their word. I feel that such prejudice, bias, extreme belligerence, rude and general lack of unkind behavior by such an employee to another human being and customer is and was inexcusable. I hope that in the future this woman who is apparently some "self-appointed" disability enforcer learns her lesson and realizes that most people don't wish to be handicapped and don't typically tend to pretend that they are handicapped to save a few dollars on their ticket. No, I was injured while I served my country thus I humbly propose that I deserve a little bit of respect instead of being made to feel embarrassed as if I was some sort of scheming criminal.

The boat ride was great! On time both ways Vallejo-SF, and very efficient loading and debarking. Advice:. Get there early to line up 20-30 minutes ahead of time especially if it's a game day or special event in The City. Also, parking in an open lot seems to be safer than the parking structure. Enjoy!! We hope to do it again:)

By Dad Z |

Someone recommended I give this a try, and boy was I pleased. Parking is easy and cheap, $5 for the day. A little confusing on how to pay for parking. Make sure to read the directions on the kiosk. Boarding the ferry with my bicycle, I found a convenient rack located on the rear deck. The ride took about an hour and the sights are worth the fare. You land right at the piers down along the waterfront. The service offers light snacks and beverages. I sat outside for the return trip, and it was incredible. I will definitely use this again.

By Joi Song |

$10 per person I think it is. One way. If you get in line EARLY enough, you can snag one of the booths with table to play cards or whathaveyou. Comfy seats. You can go on the back and watch the skyline disappear. Don't sit on the left side, or spray may get you. huge wake. Would be awesome to take at nite, with a coat on, to see the skyline. There's bathrooms, a bar. just a cool way to get from SF to Vallejo instead of the smelly, slow bart.

By Maile Q |

This is a great way to travel from Napa/Vallejo area to San Francisco without the hassle of traffic, bridge tolls and parking. This route has the high speed katamaran vessels that get you into the City in 1 hour. Easy parking is available for $5/per 24-hr period, but arrive 15-20 mins early in peak times. For $13 each way, you can enjoy the smooth ride and gorgeous Bay Area scenery including Mare Island, Carquinez Straits, Angel Island, Golden Gate, Bay Bridge and Alcatraz before pulling into either Pier 39 (Fishermans Wharf) or the Ferry Building (Embarcadero). There is also a full bar on board with snacks as well and FREE Wi-Fi. The only down side is the latest return ferry is around 7pm, but you can catch a bus back up until 10pm +/- depending on the season (schedules change Nov 2nd). Check it out!

By Cheryl S |

Loved being able to hop on the Ferry and get into San Francisco. No traffic, no worries about finding a parking spot. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

By Sailorgirl16 |

Great bar, coffee house at the Ferry building. You can also browse all the great things to do all around Northern California if you are from out of town. Parking is easy in the lot although you pay $5 bucks I think.

By Lynn C |

The ferry is a great way to get to SF but also a very fun weekend adventure to the city for lunch. No driving, bridge, parking... Just a beautiful ride with drinks and a great view.

By Veronica S |

We took the kids on the ferry before heading to San Francisco just to avoid traffic. It was a nice view and seating was comfortable. Very nice alternative to driving or catching Bart. My children had a really good time watching everything. Would do it again.

By Kelly D |

As a tourist, we used this ferry from Vallejo to San Francisco. It’s an easy and pleasant way to travel to the city. Reasonable prices, good schedule and no stress.

By We-L0VE-Adventure |

And much less expensive - and you really see the great expanse of the bay – the surrounding hillsides, cruise past Alcatraz and the East Brother Light House B&B, views of the Golden Gate Bridge, an oil refinery, and an old naval shipyard, and much much more. Stop by the Vallejo Visitor Center and ask for the info sheet on all the interesting sites that you can see from the ferry ride.
This is a commuter ferry – so it is more crowded during rush hour. For a senior the ride each way is $7.10 each way, an adult is $14.20 each way – a wonderful way to enjoy the bay!

By Joyce P |

We were pleasantly surprised; the ferry only takes 55 minutes now to SF. Very comfortable way to get over there without facing highway 80!! We took it over to the Exploratorium and it was very pleasant.

By Mika M |

My husband and I took the the ferry from Pier 41 to Vallejo. It was very pleasant with beautiful veiws of the bay. We also enjoyed some refreshments and the attendant was friendly.

By Shawzer |

This ferry trip was the kids first to SFO. The ferry was clean and accommodating with an on board concession bar; water, sodas, alcohol and snacks. Cash only. The seating was nice and spacious. Sure wish the airlines would take notice. No outside seating, little standing room. Wish there was more outdoor areas. I would ride this daily if I could.

By B7675DBadamd |

Was the first time taking the ferry and I think I will be doing it again. Made getting to the city much easier than driving and it didn't take that long either

By tchrs |

Parked at the ferry and went into town for a day. A relaxing drive with no hassles. You can take the whole family and the kids can sleep on the way back. Great views from the ferry of Angel Island and the waterfront. You get off right near the NPS desk for Alcatraz tours. Book these ahead of time online. Beats the hassle of driving.

By jtull55 |

The ferry service to SF from Vallejo is a great way to get to the city, especially on a nice, sunny day. It takes about an hour and the trip is very smooth. Stop at the Ferry Building or Pier 41 right at Fisherman's Wharf. We used it to get to our cruise ship. Also for leisure as well since we live close to Vallejo. I only wish the service as bit more frequent but that's a nit.

By Ken B |

Way to go to game. No traffic, no bridges, no parking problems. Go early have a nice dinner or lunch at pier 39, then walk to park. Pick up right at stadium to take you back. A little expensive, but save on gas, bridges, and parking.

By B9942TIlindam |

Easy on, easy off. Very clean. Quick and easy way to go to a Giants game, or shopping in the city. The crew are fabulous, friendly and very helpful.

We've taken the ferry several times, most often to Giants games. It's a great way to access the city, without huge parking fees and bridge tolls, or traffic snarls.

By Nicaman1 |

The service is very good, they are very courteous and on time. The view is great and you can get snacks and beverages on board. The price is reasonable and you leave the stress of driving behind.

By fatimaepes |

This Ferry Boat Service out of Vallejo is a must do. Many people have a misconception of Vallejo,CA, but it is the Jewel of the Bay! Like the history of Travis AFB, Vallejo is rich in history and information. It just needs to be reshined!

By Taz1040 |

Being a traveler from out of town I was not looking forward to the drive into SF and the parking experience.we took the hour ferry ride from Vallejo to the port of SF and it was perfect to walk off, enjoy seafood and see Alcatraz and the golden gate bridge on the ferry ride. Liked this option as an outsider, luckily the rental car driver suggested it. Parking in Vallejo was 5 per day. SfF parking started at 25. Ferry ride was worth it at 24 round trip per person.

By Cheryl W |

Particularly if you live in the Sacramento valley this is the best way to travel Pac Bell for a Giants game. It's inexpensive, relaxing and a retreat from hot, hot valley.

I love this experience and it reminds every time of why I live in California.

Having moved from the Midwest, I am so lucky to have this experience.
It's a great northern California travel option.

It's a highlight of the game excursion.

Ferry to SF and save the gas and parking fees!

Seniors go CHEAP and the rest of us still pay less than gas, toll and parking. The ride is SCENIC and relaxing. If your destination is the Ferry building area or Pier 39 or a baseball game, you can't get there easier than the ferry!

By Maggie6207 |

There is no better way to get to SF Ferry Building than via the ferry. Fresh air, positive ions, wind, water, birds, sea creatures, freedom from the road ragers.

By cal48boy |

Long line ,,, ,,, ,,, and only 1 cashier !?
Even just before the boat leaves !??
Lazy insufficient employees.

No excuses.
Boats breakdown too often and bus ride is only adequate.

By Kevin V |

We were staying in Vallejo but had to go to SF to do Alcatraz tour. This is the way to travel! A quick ride (about an hour), a quick walk (about ten blocks or so) and we're at the tour. Another quick ride back to Vallejo. No stress and reasonable.

By lbjelly |

We love taking the ferry from Vallejo to SF. The ferry ride is comparable to driving time and the price is relative to paying bridge tolls and SF parking fees. But be aware of the departure schedules because they do not run as often as other forms of public transportation.

By Joseph M |

Despite there being a Giants game today, the Ferry service was on time. I don't think it's cool that they sell too many tickets, leaving some passengers waiting hours for the next ferry on a Saturday morning, tho.

By QuickWhitTravel |

This ferry service is awesome. Wonderful views, friendly service, and a much better price than driving and parking in San Francisco! We enjoyed our round trip, and it's so easy to do! Just be sure to know your license plate number to pay for parking!

When you're looking to go into the city from the East Bay, you have a number of options: drive (oh, no!), Uber, Bus, BART, or . . . the Ferry. I choose the Ferry!

For one thing, it's cheap, particularly if you're a senior. A round-trip for two seniors is less than $30 - such a deal! And such a ride! Being on the beautiful bay while zooming along on the smooth, clean, comfortable Ferry is as nice as it can be, particularly if you're going to the Pier 39 area.

The Ferry drops you off at either the Ferry Plaza building or Pier 41 (certain times of day). If you get off at Pier 41 you're right next to Pier 39's many restaurants, stores and attractions. It's also a reasonable walk to Ghirardelli Square, if you're looking for some great ice cream - also try the Cheese School and Cafe, which is great. Carly does a great job giving you samples of cheese, so check them out.

The ride into the city is visually stunning. It's almost like a Disneyland ride, with beautiful views you just can't get with any other form of transportation. I strongly recommend you give it a try.

The ferry between Vallejo and San Francisco is a very comfortable way to travel without the stress of all the traffic. There is a snack bar, comfortable seating and it's not particularly crowded except for the height of rush hour.

By ghet77 |

Went to San Francisco via this ferry. It was a refreshing and a fun way of transpo to San Francisco. Two stops from Vallejo Ferry Center , first will be at San Francisco Ferry Building and last will be at Pier 41. Very safe and comfortable ride . I will defintely make use of it again

By Smartlight9 |

I have ridden the Vallejo Ferry between San Francisco's Ferry Building and the Vallejo Ferry Terminal for many years. (The day I retired from my job in Vallejo the captain of the ship invited me to the bridge to honor me.)

Tip: I usually take the 6:35 am ferry to Vallejo. If the sky is full of weather at sunrise, it can be mind-blowingly beautiful. And it's counter-commute, so the boat is nearly empty.

Tip: Watch out for the trip under the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Take pictures. I've taken maybe 7000 of the underside of that bridge. Beautiful and mysterious.

By SallyFORTH9 |

As often as I can , I take the ferry to San Francisco from Vallejo.
Sit back, relax, have a cup of coffee and a donut....or a drink on the way home in the evening. The ferry is clean and comfy and it has wifi! The view of the bay is an extraordinary treat. The Bay Area looks so different from the water. Sometimes you'll see seals frolicking and I'm always on the watch for a whale.
The staff is always pleasant; they love to joke with passengers as they board. For a senior the fare is only $6 each way, hey! that's the a bridge toll! There is no better transportation deal in the Bay Area. The length of the trip varies from forty minutes to over an hour. I'm not sure what variables influence the speed of the ferry.

By James K |

Now operating under the official name of San Francisco Bay Ferry, there is no better way to travel between Vallejo and San Francisco. The traffic around the Bay Area is horribly congested, not that safe, and the time it takes to travel from San Francisco's downtown area to Vallejo via a car with two people in it - could take up to 2-1/2 hours to get home during rush hour. The ferry service is just under 60 minutes of peaceful, enjoyable time with plenty of views to take in. The ferry just glides across the Bay at better than 37 knots, and the seats are very accommodating (large enough for this 6'2" man). My wife and I commute daily to and from San Francisco with this service. It's not cheap at $290 a month for monthly pass, and $13 one-way is steep for most, but you are going to burn $13 in fuel alone, and that does not include the $5 toll across the Martinez Bridge or the $4,5,6 variable toll across the Oakland Bay Bridge. It's all relative and relevant to your attitude about commuting, but if you are simply a tourist, it will be one of the cheapest fares you will pay for a great time on the water with sights of Bay that you will not see or experience by driving. Some of the scheduled stops will take guests through Pier 41 adjacent to the Pier 39 tourist stop... and for me, I take the direct route to the Ferry Building which is Pier 1 - just blocks from my job. It's a relaxing way to get to work and affords the hard working people time to unwind before they get home. This is THE MOST civilized way to commute. Clean, comfortable, and the service is fantastic. Each morning our captain greets us as we enter the ferry, but not before being greeted by two decks (usually Chris and Doug - two very seasoned and fine gentlemen who give water travel a good name). Of course, I would not be doing anyone a service without mentioning the bar... Our bartenders are the best, hands down! They know their customers (because of repeat business), and those who stand in line waiting for a mixed drink, a glass of wine, soda, coffee, cappuccino, snacks, or just water... are usually greeted by name. It's not all too infrequent that those standing in line are chatting away with each other and smiling... It's not like riding the bus, train, or taking BART... Do yourself a favor - ride the ferry to/from San Francisco. You won't regret it... The only constructive criticism I have for the ferry service is that the Wi-Fi is lackluster. I get far better reception from my T-Mobile 4G/LTE service (which is available the entire time across the Bay)... Time for an upgrade San Francisco Bay Ferry??? However, why stare at a 4" digital display when you can look out through panoramic views of incredible sights. Even after taking the ferry for more than a year, I see something new almost each time. For those worried about bathroom trips - there are many bathrooms onboard all the ferries - and they are super clean!

By Carolyn S |

Traveling on the ferry is so comfortable. The staff is helpful and the service is very reliable. As a daily commuter, I traveled on the ferry in all types of Bay area weather. It is extremely rare for anyone to get seasick. If you want to go to Fisherman's Wharf, take the F trolley that runs in front of the SF Ferry Building. Or travel the other direction to Union Square stores.

Given the craziness of transportation in San Francisco, taking this ferry rather than driving into town was a true blessing! There is a parking garage across the street that is only $5 for the entire day.
The ferry is punctual, clean and provides a very relaxing ride. We will definitely take the ferry again rather than driving - with the bonus of being able to get a room in Vallejo at a fraction of what you spend in Frisco. You can either get off at the Ferry building or Fisherman's Wharf, giving easy access to many of the sites that tourtists want to visit.

Great way to travel to SF whether to work or a day of play. WiFi, electrical hookups, bathroom and bar. What more could you want. Just 1 hour to the city without traffic.

Good ride, no traffic, easy access to San Francisco.
Windows need to be cleaned better, they were dirty.

If you can ride the Balink Ferry you will have no stress from driving and no bridge tolls. You can enjoy the Bay views, work on your lap top or even take a 45-48 minute nap before you arrive in San Francisco.

Easy access to the Ferry in Vallejo with plenty of parking space across the street.
Enjoy the experience!

The only way to take a cruise to either Alaska or Mexico. We are seniors so the price for the ride over was great. It was an hour ride to the ferry terminal. Since we travel light, we took a leisurely walk to the cruise terminal to board the ship. It was effortless, economical and pleasant. I am planning a group cruise to Alaska next year and will advise everyone of this unique opportunity and economical way to get to San Francisco without the normal hassles.

We were staying in Sonoma and were debating about a day trip to SF. Between the drive, parking, driving in the city etc. we were a little hesitant. Luckily, someone told us about the Vallejo Ferry. It was a short (40 min) drive to Vallejo, we got tickets, grabbed a bite and got on board. A smooth ride and an hour later, we were at the Embarcadero. We had the best day ever and not stress about driving, parking, etc. Caught the ferry back and it was back to Sonoma. This was so worth it and allowed us to have an amazing day in SF.

You have to pay for parking now, but it still is the easiest way to get to the city from Vallejo if you don't care to drive. relaxing and comfortable. be aware that on game days (giants) there is a massive crush to use this. get there early!!

Just 1 hour's stress free ride to SF, the best possible way to commute or just to spend a day in the city. You can relax, work since there is WIFI an even have a cocktail.Clare the bartender is totally awesome.

I just wish the service was extended later at night. It always seems to be a run to make the last ferry. Having a leisurely dinner is difficult.

Take a day and ride the ferry. Ride them all...you will need a whole day on Angel Island, but for everything else, there is nothing like the perspective from the water. If you are a senior the cost is very reasonable. And, don't forget your coat. You will always need a coat on the outside.

I rode my bike to the Vallejo Ferry building. The ticket booth was closed so I got tickets right at the gate (bring cash). They have a nice place to park your bike by the Bar. I got a beer and enjoyed the beautiful trip outside on the deck.

I have taken this wonderful ferry for years! It is always prompt, clean and easy to board/get tickets. The crew is very helpful and friendly. When there was no Covid, there was a nice snack bar...Hopefully, that will return....Note the huge discount for seniors (Get a Senior card!)....I did like the individual tables they used to have for four, but the individual ones are OK. This is a staple of the Bay Area and should bring more people to Vallejo to live!!

This is the best way to arrive into SF from the Napa Valley. It is a half hour drive away and then jump on the ferry and they drop you off right next to pier 39.

Mare Island was settled by the Spaniards (named after General Vallejo's favorite mare), sports the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi, contains many historic buildings reminiscent of San Francisco's Presidio, was the site of major shipyard activity through the Vietnam War period. Who knew? A 45 minute ferry ride from Pier 41 in SF takes you there, gliding smoothly and quietly along the Bay. Sights abound on either side, as you pass Alcatraz, Angel Island, San Quentin and the less familiar abandoned piers and open land of the east bay. The ferry docks at Vallejo where there is a fine and festive brewery right on the premises. A short ferry ride takes you across the river to Mare Island itself. This was a splendid half day excursion that very easily could have been extended, with a bus connection from the Vallejo ferry dock to nearby Napa Valley.

Nice way to cross the bay instead of being stuck in traffic trying to cross the bridge. Ferry times should be more convient

Was very fun. Stroller friendly. Take a jacket! Takes you under golden gate bridge. Everyone was friendly

The Baylink from Vallejo to San Francisco was great. It saved a great amount of time instead of being stuck in rush hour traffic , paying bridge tolls and trying to find a parking spot. The return fee is also reasonable and you will actually be saving a good amount of money. You can enjoy the scenery or a nap on your ~ 1 Hr cruise. Highly recommend this ferry service.

as a northern from the east coast, traffic is part of life.we adapt andtry to make it as easy as possible. This ferry service was great. We were staying in Napa, drove down to Vallejo, about 20-25 minutes away, hopped the ferry to downtown San Fran and never looked backed.$5 to park at the ferry, walk across the street, hop on and you are in the city in less than 1 hour.Be mindful of the times when you want to leave the city, last week day ferry was 7 pm.go early, spend the day, leave the car and the hassels of driving behind, and enjoy the city.hop off,hop on bus tours are a great way to start.

The only way to travel to SF from the Northeast Bay. Professional staff, comfortable seats. Fantastic views and free WIFI.

This is an excellent way to travel to San Francisco. There's no smog or traffic. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. So, on the weekends, arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure.

A super way to get into SF wiithout any traffic! The boat ride takes exactly one hour and you get right into the heart of SF. Great deal!

By Gene G |

i have not taken the Ferry again recently but in the past i have enjoyed it, especially when the weather is nice enough to be out side underway. Nice to bring a back pack with some hot coffee or coco but there is a snack bar. We used to take bikes to Angel Island and and we took bikes to the City. You need to pay attention are you going to the Ferry building or Pier 41 and only some of the boats go to angel island. Right now i have cast on , and i might have to check how well a knee scooter or wheel chair works, i would go again , especially not on a crowded weekend but a week day and , this warm part of the year is totally koolaceous for the Ferry

What a wonderful experience I had on this ferry! The views of the bay, the city, the iconic Golden Gate and Bay bridges and historic sights were wonderful. After a long day walking around San Francisco it was nice to soak in the sunset, sip on a vodka and let the bay breeze blow your hair awry.
The girl behind the bar could be a great deal more friendly and stop overcharging for beverages and the ticket price was a little steep but being on the water causes all of that to wash away quickly.
Good, clean amenities and lots of room to sit as chose the ferry after rush hour.

It's a great way to get to San Francisco. You don't have to pay bridge fares, or for parking and you don't have to deal with traffic. The people on the ferry are very friendly.

Took the ferry round trip from Vallejo to San Francisco with my elderly mom. Very enjoyable and easy way to get to the city. We roamed around the Ferry Building and had a great lunch at Hog Island Oyster Co. Highly recommended!

The Ferry is a great way to get to SF and Pier 41. It will save you toll bridges and that crazy parking in SF.

My boyfriend and I were a little nervous driving into San Francisco so a family member mentioned the ferry! I tend to feel a bit nauseous on boat rides but they offered food and drinks to us. It's not too expensive and they have parking right across the street from the center. You won't have to worry about parking your car in the city.

beautiful views of the bay, Alcatraz, golden gate bridge, civill war prisons and Alcatraz.. harbor seals and other wild life are plentiful.

Not wanting to face big city traffic... and finding a place to park... we decided to book passage on the Vallejo ferry. Such a great way to visit the city! We've now used it three times on various trips to the area -- my son is stationed at Travis AFB in Fairfield. While the drive through Vallejo looks a little sketchy at first, the ferry has a safe parking lot and a comfortable coffee bar for waiting. The ferry takes about an hour and has numerous trips into and back from the city. We take it to the SF Ferry building and start our SF tour from their.

The ferry itself has free wifi and a snack bar and relatively clean restrooms. The seats are comfortable enough for an hour trip and there are lots of them on two levels. The views of the bay are fantastic. The ride is smooth and the fare is a reasonable value. The schedule offers quite a bit of flexibility -- departing as early as 6:30 for the city and returning as late as 7:30. While waiting for the ferry to return, be sure to spend some time in the Ferry building, there are excellent food, drink and souvenir shops oriented to tourists.

We rode the ferry to San Francisco round trip, it was very pricey for a family of 5, we paid over $90 but it was a pleasant ride and scenic.

We took the ferry to/from San Francisco on a 'date night'. It was so nice to not worry about traffic, parking, navigating around SF. I highly recommend it as a way to go to SF for site seeing, shopping, dinner out, and do check out the Farmers Market at the Ferry Building on Saturday.

Bay Link Ferry was a relaxing, easy way to get into SanFrancisco. Arrived at the Vallejo terminal where there is ample parking. A nice little cafe inside if you are in need of refreshment before you board, while the ferry itself also offers beverages and snacks. Senior rates are available, While adult rates are well worth the price. Clean and the seats are comfortable. I will do it again on another trip to San Francisco and enjoy it equally as much.

By CynBee227 |

We take the ferry to sf as often as possible. Comfortable seats, great view, snacks for adults and children. You can drop at either ferry building or fisherman a warf. Great way to ride through San Pablo bay too!

Fun easy way to get to the Wharf in San Francisco. It was a nice ride and the view was wonderful. I think it's the only way to go to San Francisco!

By David D |

I arrived at the ferry building at 8:30, as a tourist, and had a hard time finding the correct departure point for the ferry from SF to Vallejo. Once I found it, it tools my another 10 minutes to find out where I could buy tickets. By then it was almost 9.

Found out that the next ferry wouldn't leave until 11:10, so I had to kill two hours in the ferry building. Sure there's shops there but it's mostly food and there's not really enough to do to fill two hours.

Ended up taking an uber on the way back because I would have had to wait even longer to catch a return ferry from Vallejo.

By Jackie C |

The ferry was very relaxing and was a good price without the hassle of city traffic. Would take the ferry any day to travel to San Franscico Fisherman's Wharf

By Eviltrav |

Was staying in Vallejo after visiting Six Flags, decided the ferry was a more civilised way to get to SF and it definitely was the right choice. Really chilled out relaxing way to get across the bat - faster than road also!

By juma196 |

Very convenient and courteous crew. Very easy to access and purchase tickets. Departs and arrives quite frequently and is the easiest way to go to San Francisco from Vallejo. Takes you to the pier where all the sights are located.

The Vallejo-SF Ferry is a smart choice for so many reasons. If you are coming from SF, the visit to Vallejo is a nice, relaxing change as Vallejo has a peaceful waterfront and downtown with a lot of sites both old (i.e. historical museums, etc) and new (i.e. wine and/or beer tasting rooms, etc). in the area as well as on Mare Island. If you are traveling to San Francisco, this option would help you save money on gas, parking, and most importantly it would save you on having to deal with driving in a crazy, crowded city with tourists and residents who may or may not know how to drive/navigate the area. My only "gripe" (if you can call it that) is the cost and maybe the vessel itself needs a renovation/update but that ultimately gets offset by how much you save plus the ride duration isn't very long. It is one of the best ways to travel to/from the city from Vallejo.
