Sure wish I had this back in Michigan! I would walk more often! About a 4 mile loop of perfect sidewalk, wide enough for passing walkers, and for the passing joggers, runners and faster steppers. Great views of Lake Monroe and Seminole Blvd. Many benches and swinging benches along the way to rest or to just take it all in. Drinking fountains, too. Some exercises stations for some arm and leg exercising. Mile markers. View of the marina, a very nice children's' park, wildlife and fisherman. Lots of signs along the way describing the history of Sanford. After your nice walk, there is a coffee shop on Seminole and a Pizza place, too. Wolfy's and St. Johns River Steak & Seafood are just a short walk along the marina down Palmetto Ave for some good food, beverages and more water views. Also, just a nice walk into Historic Downtown Sanford for more food, beverages and shopping.

Beautiful place to sit and relax, walk along the water, fish, feed the ducks, or talk to some of the local people there. A quite, peaceful spot.

This place is so overlooked by locals. It is beautiful and full of potential for being so much bigger than it is. The trail is a couple of miles maybe 2 and very easy the flowers are abundant and the marina is simply beautiful. I had the chance to watch the riverboat take the lunch cruise out. I had lunch on the large swing overlooking the marina. A very pleasant place to spend your lunch hour.

The Sanford Riverwalk is a great place for a leisurely stroll. Enjoy the lake which is really just a fat spot in the St. John's River. And keep an eye out for the occasional gator as well.

You can fish, watch the boats, birds, and many folks enjoy walking along the lake with their dogs. Historic downtown is within walking distance as well.

This is a wonderful place to walk especially in the evening when its a little cooler. There are swings to sit and watch the sunset. It is very scenic on the water with a large cement path sidewalk. Beautiful scenery with the marina, the flowers, a park and playground view.

The Riverwalk is a nice place to visit with lots of wildlife to see and if your into Geocaching then this is one of the best trail's to visit for that!

The view of the marina next to the walk wat was very relaxing. We were lucky to get one of the two large swings to enjoy. The weather was beautiful which led to the experience.

We've never been to this part of Fl. and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Loved the history of the area and the restaurants .

We stopped here several times while visiting the area.
This is a wonderful place to walk, relax and/or just enjoy the views of Lake Monroe.
This waterfront is a real asset for the community; as well as its visitors.

A fun walk to exercise, relax and learn more about Sanford and it's history. I enjoyed reading the signs along the way.

Stayed overnight in Sanford to catch a flight out the next day. Had some time in the afternoon to walk along the river and check out the downtown area. Safe place to walk and enjoy the view. Cute shops downtown, coffee shops and great German food. Nice little used book store. Enjoyed my visit.

My wife & sister & I took a walk through Sanford's Veterans Memorial Park, then along the RiverWalk past the Monroe Harbour Marina. The sunshine & blue skies were the perfect antidote for what's been a brutal winter back in the Midwest. The Park & the RiverWalk areas are both well-kept and clean, and the flowers planted along the RiverWalk offered several splashes of springtime color. The variety of birds perched and feeding in & around the Marina was impressive, providing even more photo ops. The views of Lake Monroe & the St. Johns River from the shoreline are very scenic, and the riverboat cruising in & out of the harbor makes for a unique sight.
It was a wonderful day to be outdoors, and the City of Sanford provided the perfect public setting to enjoy it. Thank you for giving us visitors such a memorable mid-winter treat..

A wonderful place to have quiet time to reflect, take a walk or read a book. Sometimes you see the Barbara Lee paddle boat floating by. My favorite coffee shop is right there on the water. Coffee House.

Although we live in a different county, my husband and I enjoy visiting nearby counties and exploring their quaint cities. Sanford is a beautiful small city located on Lake Monroe. The town has wonderful restaurants and shops, but on this beautiful fall day we decided to stroll on the RiverWalk. The Sanford city fathers certainly created near perfect for people to enjoy. The walk is punctuated by benches and plenty of green space for a family to relax, fish, picnic, or just “be.” I especially liked the swings where we sat and enjoyed watching people and boats.
If you are in central Florida and need a break from all the area attractions, drive to Sanford and experience the beauty of nature.

Whether you are walking for exercise, strolling with your pet, photographing wild birds or just people watching. This a great place to go. About a mile long,it goes past the yacht basin, several restaurants and an impressive veterans memorial area. The only problem is that the city removed the swings that were hung from several pergolas along the way.

Wonderful place in the middle of town for a nice stroll along the lake.
there are a couple restaurants close but we had other plans

The waterfront area of Sanford is under significant improvement work expanding the wide walk way around Lake Monroe. We love wandering from the marina basin in either direction along the path taking in all the animals and people you meet. You will always see birds, alligators, turtles. Watching the osprey fish is also fascinating. Take your time and take it all in!

Sanford is a great old style town with lots of restaurants at reasonable prices, they also still have an old Paddle Boat for lunch or dinner, although we did not eat in the boat, it seemed very popular and great to see it pulling out on to the lake. Would recommend going just for that.

We walked around the area and really like the palm trees and the American flag floating in the air. The place is so relaxing with a nice breeze!

The Sanford RiverWalk not only offers beautiful sunsets on Lake Monroe, but also excellent dining, craft bars and fun shops.

The Sanford RiverWalk is a beautiful area. It’s so nice to be able to sit down or walk around and enjoy the views of Lake Monroe!

There are plenty of benches and even some swings were you can sit and relax along the river walk.
There is a small park at the flag pole by the roundabout were you can see a gator or two swimming around in the summer months.

I grew up in Sanford and it is so nice to go back and see the town thriving! Makes me want to move back. Sanford Riverwalk is a great place to take a peaceful, scenic walk.

Cute touches--like swings for three or four, facing the Lake. Veterans Memorial. Fun restaurants and cafes nearby.

We had a couple of hours to spend until it was time for us to board the Autotrain. It was very easy to park in Sanford, and we were only a block or so from the RiverWalk. It's only about 2 blocks from the main street in town, so everything was very convenient.
The walk is very easy and very scenic. We really enjoyed it!

Very peaceful walk along the river. Very quite. It was not very crowed. It was safe. It is nice for a family walk.

Great for walking on a nice day. Plenty to see as you walk along Lake Monroe and there are plenty of eating places within walking distance.

It has a little bit of everything for everybody. I live in Delaware but make a trip down here at least 3 times a year. Love it

Actually didn’t know what to expect,we had only been in Sanford to catch the auto train. Took the time to walk around and found lovely shops a local brewery Sanford beer works that was fantastic

Fairly long walkway stretching from the downtown area all the way to the zoo which is several miles away. Most popular area is from the marina to the Veterans Memorial Park. Take a paddleboat tour or just walk the waterfront and watch the boats come and go. This is Florida so the summer can get pretty hot, but they do offer several semi-shaded seating areas to relax in.

It was a lovely walk along the river and seeing all the egrets with lots of great photo opportunities.

Sanford RiverWalk is really beautiful on a sunny day - there are swings near the waterfront to relax and just sit an relax. You can take a stroll along the waterfront, fish and stroll through town or take the Free Trolley. There is a nice playground in the area as well. Lots of parking. Check out the may restaurants, shops, antique shops or support Palate Coffee who's mission is to help battle human trafficking.

I loved the swings along the walkway! I could grab a book, a sack lunch, a cup of coffee, and swing there for hours! Fortunately, I’m retired, and enjoy those kind of things!!!

I never knew the St. John river was so big. we were traveling from DeLand to Kissimmee the back way and came across a river walk town sign and decided to check it out. Found parking along the river easily and began our walk of a couple miles. A good way not only to enjoy the river, but because of the signage to find out some things about the town's history as well. There is also a paddle boat that goes out for lunch and dinner but the timing was off for us. A great place to see the beauty and stretch the legs for a couple hours. .

This is a nice quiet place to sit and relax. Great for a relaxing morning, agternoon or evening. Please visit the Veteran's Memorial area.

We made a stop over at Sanford, during our trip from Orlando to Daytona.
It was a nice walk along the edge of the lake. There is free parking and nice spots to observe the birds. Also, lots of cared for flowers.
Pity we didn't have more time to explore the old town, or have a meal in Sanford.

This is a great area to walk or bike or just sit on a bench or swing and watch the boats and birds. The memorial garden is lovely

They spent so much money to make this place available for us... Clean, peaceful.. you will have a great time if you like nature.

Great spot to walk around especially after eating in Downtown. Great history at the Veteran's Memorial as well....take a stroll during the day or sit on a swing in the evening....

The river walk is a beautiful place to go for a walk, fish, take the kids to the park or just relax. It’s a must see in Sanford!

There were picnicking families all over the place. It really was wonderful. The only problem was the nearby restrooms were out of order with a sign posted saying they were vandalized That is a shame.

While here we took sometime to walk the park. Saw many many ducks. Met some interesting people local and from out of state. Sat on a bench and just took it all in.

This is a nice paved walk along the lake. The is some shade a quite a few benches. We saw many people fishing. It is an easy walk near the historic town area.

I go walking along this trail several times a month. I love the water views and the breeze that comes off the water. The city has put a lot into this path and it has paid off. It is well lite at night and has many places to sit and enjoy the view.

Not much to see but the nature is nice. It's worth a visit if you're bored. Maybe bring a book. And a beverage.

Great place to walk and stretch. Nice views, birds and plenty of spots to picnic with food purchased nearby. Avoid, if love bugs are swarming, and spray for mosquitos if exposed. Seating available and parking nearby. Tied of shopping or driving?, good way to relax and refresh.

I love in the Sanford area and the Riverwalk is a great place to go and relax. However it could use a little bit of attention. It would be great to have a few restaurants and shops on the riverwalk. Sure downtown is only a few blocks back. But the atmosphere totally changes.

A nice place to stroll and take in the lake views. The city does a good job of keeping things clean. Well worth a stroll if visiting the city.

I see people using the riverwalk at all times. Several are exercising; mothers are walking with their children. Couples walk hand-in-hand along the picturesque trail. Parking is conveniently located.
I would caution about WAITING after one pushes the "Cross" button. Cars are still going pretty fast...and they need time to see the blinking lights.

I love coming to the Riverwalk it is always peaceful. With the added swings and places to sit and relax it makes for a wonderful afternoon.

We stopped in historic downtown Sanford before our flight from Sanford International Airport. Walked around the adorable historic downtown then made our way to the Riverwalk. Riverwalk is a great place for a walk or to grab something to eat. Scenic walk along Lake Monroe with benches or swings to sit and enjoy the view.

It was a beautiful day and we only walked a portion of the trail. We were only in Sanford for the night as we caught an early flight the next morning. I want to come back and spend a few days to do the complete walk as well as one of the riverboat cruises. I didn’t realize all that Sanford has to offer.

Actually, the Riverwalk is a walk along Lake Monroe. The Lake does feed into the St John's River. The St John's is one of only several rivers in the world that flow north. A walk along the Riverwalk will allow you the opportunity to see alligators and a wide assortment of birds. To include several birdss of prey.

The Sanford Lake Path gives a great view of Lake Monroe and the Lake Front properties. Right now in May the lakefront is brimming with May Flies. They are everywhere.
Under construction is an assisted living center, where the old motel was on the Lake. There is an old seafood restaurant, St. John's River Steak & Seafood. They do have live entertainment some of the time. Check their website if interested. Next door is an old medical center. Then the Sanford Marina is right behind the medical center. They have a slip for boats or jet skis. They also offer slips for rent. Some people live on their houseboats there. Nearby there is a nice Veteran's Memorial Monument honoring the veterans of all the wars in recent history. There is a pizza parlor by the marina. The City of Sanford has plaques with historical information that you can stop and read during your walk. Across the street there is a pond with all kinds of water fowl. There are public bathrooms but they are dark and dirty. My recommendation is to walk there during daylight hours and avoid after dark. There are nice apartments on the lake front (across the street). You have a view of the Lake.

If you are looking for nice walk this could be a good place, depending on how much sun you tolerate (or the time of day). There will be a lot of sun along the walk. This is a nicely paved walk.

I have visited family in Sanford many times and I always look forward to walking the RiverWalk. There are so many friendly people that sometimes my walks take longer because I've stopped to chat. It is relaxing, beautiful and not crowded with bikes or skateboards. One of my favorite things to do when visiting relatives in Sanford.

We spent 3 nights in Sanford, and enjoyed our sunsets here, as well as our morning strolls. BEAUTIFUL area, well maintained. Can't wait to come back some day when the entire Riverwalk and Bike Trail are completed - that's going to be fantastic and truly Natural Florida!

Take a walk down Sanford's lake front and you will see boats coming, going or docked. Ducks, birds, alligators & lots of people walking, jogging or really just enjoying the day.

Such a relaxing walk enjoying the beautiful water views and scenery. If you are lucky you can see a gator!!
It would be nice if some restaurants or shoppes were there for visitors.

A beautiful place to walk. Swings along the way to relax on. Benches in other places. Just a coomplete plaace to unwind and relax.

A nice place to take a walk or to just sit by the lake. There is a memorial park as part of it and nearby restaurants. Only a few blocks from downtown Sanford.

The city has vastly improved the whole waterfront are. More bench's more shade areas. And its kept clean.

Plaques along the way to tell of the history and a nice walk with a breeze to cool you off after a hot day.

Hard to beat.they have put so much into it.makes Sanford stand out.check out the reastrants and many other things to do.

Walking or sitting on a swing or maybe a picnic and Fort Mellon park. The view alone is perfect people run, walk, fish or go out on their boats . Couldn't ask for much more.

walk or run along Lake Monroe on St. Johns River on the mileage-marked sidewalk. Read the informative signage about Sanford's history, sit on a bench swing and watch marine activity, stop for pizza/drinks along the way. Remember to stay "in your lane" as there are walkers and bikes sharing the way. It gets a bit smelly near the marina in the heat of summer, otherwise a very pleasant way to spend an hour or so.

I come here allot of the time just to sit and talk with God, it's a beautiful place to unwind and relax, there is peace and quiet and tranquility.

The walk along Lake Monroe has always been pretty but you should see it now! The next section was just finished in 2021 and now goes on for miles. You'll see people walking, riding bikes, skateboarding, sitting on swings and benches, skating and those just looking for alligators bathing along the lake yet it is never crowded. It is SO PRETTY!

Smooth, wide path accommodates walkers and/or bikes with ease. I guess the city is trying to emulate some of it's shady parks but I think they've over planted trees along the waterfront which is blocking the great view.

The Sanford Riverwalk is easily one of the cities most beautiful locations, if not the best. It’s one of the main reasons I chose to move here. It has a little bit of everything. If you want you can take a nice walk along the lake, or jog, bike ride, or even take a romantic walk with a special someone during sunrise or sunset. You can opt to do a picnic or fish along the waters edge of you like. There’s a small marina, and even some restaurants along the lake in addition to a bunch of storefronts, restaurants, and bars a short walk away in downtown Sanford.
I find it to be a place of tranquility for me. A place I can come to relax, unwind, and forget about the daily grind. I’ve spotted birds, gators, fish, and other animals in and around the lake. I also live the long aluminum swings and binocular stands along the riverwalk path. I highly recommend visiting this place because I think you’ll fall in love with its beauty like I have!

Great walk, clean, great Veterans Park area with excellent historical displays, paved, and kept up, super views of the marinas and lake.

Nice area along the river to walk and enjoy the Veterans park. Easy access to the rest of the city and nearby shops.

If you are a boater, this is paradise. If not, there is so much to do on or near the riverfront. Beautiful views with activities always going on. Great place!

We parked nearby and walked most of it detouring only to go into the historic district. It’s a walk passing the marina and the memorial park. The memorial park is interesting to visit as it covers the wars and the involvement of locals and local places. The walk has lots of benches so great to stop and enjoy the peace and quiet. The best part for us though was the huge swings, loved them

Beautiful area with nice sidewalks, swings, and a nice memorial park, overlooking the water. Really enjoyed reading about the history of Sanford as I walked along the water.

Love coming to Sanford by boat and enjoying the sites, sounds and flavors. Great place to visit for a few hours and enjoy the outdoors!

The walk is about 1 1/2 miles from start to finish oneway. The walk is well lighted and very easy to do. Has places to stop along the way to rest or just site see.

On a recent visit to Sanford we discovered River Walk, WOW what a way to relax and see the lake. It was amazingly clean and the swings that they have along the walk is great for little breather and a take it all in kind of stop. OUTSTANDING

We found ourselves in Sanford on our way to the auto train. The river walk was a pleasant diversion and a way to stretch our legs before the long ride.

Absolutely wonderful place for a nice walk, picnic, jog, place for pictures. Come enjoy the day on the SANFORD RIVERWALK.

My wife and Love walking the RiverWalk. Plenty of smiling people, great views of the water and plenty of wild life. Its about 4 miles down and back so you get a workout with a view.

My hubby and I walked part of the RiverWalk but also biked around almost the whole path. It is an easy ride. The scenery is beautiful! Wish I could be there today to walk around and relax along the way!

You can walk or drive, sitesee or fish, sit or swing, take a ride on a sternwheeler. Just a peaceful and relaxing place to be. Some older places along the walk next to modern buildings. Downtown is within walking distance.

You'll find people just sitting, watching, and fishing under the trees along this pleasant, clean, and well-maintained walkway. The there is a concrete wall at the water's edge, so you won't be dipping your toes in the water. At one point, there is a city park and playground, but other than that, it just a sidewalk along the bank of the lake.

Walked the Riverwalk during an overnight stay leaving out of Sanford Airport.
Sweet swings to lounge on. Sailboats docked along the harbor of Lake Monroe.
Veterans Memorial was well made and honorable to those fallen. There was a couple of people there working on the dedication stones. A service that is definitely needed. I appreciate their service to that craft.

We just stumbled upon this jewel and that quiet time was so needed. People that live near this is so blessed. No prettier place.

This is a lovely spot to walk along the river and enjoy the scenery, the breeze and people watching. There are mile markers, historic plaques describing different eras, and giant swings for all to enjoy. There are a number of dining options as well. Although it was an oppressive 90+ degrees during the day, the early evening walk was delightfully cool and breezy. There was a yoga class going on, lots of walkers, dog walkers, fishermen and bikers. It was a delightful way to spend an hour or two.

Lovely and relaxing stroll along the lake. Water is inky around the marina, very dark. Enjoyed the peace and quiet.

The River Walk is a pleasant easy walk, better done before noon or in late evening when summer temps aren't so unbearable.

This walk should have been installed decades ago. The County is in the process of filling in the missing link between the downtown area and the cross Florida bike trail further west near I-4. When complete, you can bike or run almost the entire circumference of Lake Monroe. Only a small missing section on Celery Drive, which has been budgeted, according to my sources. Beautiful walk, bike, or run.

Beautiful place to walk up & down the river. Either for exercising or for leisure. Romantic place to go at night.

This is not only a beautiful place to walk, run and/or bike it one of this city's "crown jewels". The investments made have shown the progressive wisdom of the City and is used daily by citizens and visitors alike What is there not to like about a well thought out trail along the shores of Lake Monroe?

When you are downtown, this is just a short walk away. The sights are very scenic, plus your close to food and beverages. Another nice thing to do is Sanford l.

This is a beautiful place to walk or sit on one of the many benches (some are swings) and watch the boats or people. It has some beautiful sunsets too. Very nice place to just relax!

We had a delayed Auto Train so we drove down to the Riverwalk...what a lovely experience. River on oneside, pond on the other. A historic building and most important public restrooms. People were very friendly.

We drove to Sanford and took a stroll on the Riverwalk. It was so nice to see the Marina with all the boats docked. While walking, you can stop at the historical markers and read about the history of Sanford. We also went to the Memorial Park and read about the wars and the local soldiers. It was a nice break to get outside during the pandemic and be able to social distance as well on the wide boardwalk.
Great place for walks or just sitting and watching the water and people
Love the river walk. Great swing seats. Have water fountains for dogs! Great view of St Johns River and Lake Monroe, boats, etc.
