5 of 65 Best Attractions in Santa Clara

My nephew is a student at this campus. We were given a tour by him because we were visiting him. The grounds and misssion were lovely. We couldn't see his resididence because it was closed for the holidays

We walked the university campus and enjoyed the beautiful roses. The chapel was lovely. A very serene and peaceful experience. School was not in on this day.

We enjoyed going to see Tyler Florence, Top Chef, restaurant owner, and many people know him from Food TV Show. It was an entertaining 90 plus minute talk show on the leading edge culinary industry. It was sponsored by the Commonwealth Club of California - Silicon Valley. We very much enjoyed the insights of Tyler Florence on the culinary industry.
The talk was held at the Lous B. Mayer theater at Santa Clara University Campus. Louis B. Mayer was a famous Movie Mogul and Producer. The theater on campus is very nice with 575 seats, all with good view of the stage. The staff there is also very nice.
We purchased our tickets for the event on www.goldstar.com.
Besides this show, they hold various shows at the Louis B. Mayer Theater that the public can attend. Santa Clara University holds their own plays, dances, lectures, musicals and cultural shows here. Other groups such as tonight's Tyler Florence talk can also rent out and use the facility. Their web site is good site to check to see what is going on.
We parked at the multistory parking structure near the theater (a very short walk). There was a small parking fee; for this event it was $4.

Tourist in the Silicon Valley area? If you're a local, you must have already been here. Visit Santa Clara University campus. Just take a walk and take some pictures. It's beautiful, immaculate, relaxing, and there's even a 17 hundreds mission. Parking can be a bit confusing. Nice Starbucks right across the street.

Our daughter graduated from SCU and we were back with her son visiting for a Water Polo Tournament and she was able to walk us around the campus and show us how it has changed very dramatically. Every thing is green and beautiful. The main attraction was Benson Hall as she remembered as a typical cafeteria and it now a wide open "dining" experience with multiple choices. Lot's of changes but all done so tastefully and seems as if nothing has changed. Simply beautiful.

Move in day at Santa Clara University. This was my first trip to the campus. Small and contained. Close to the central business district. The mission church is a must see when you are there.

Alot of activity during the summer! Students were walking around, there seemed to be some camp for elementary students, and the baseball team practiced during the early afternoon. I came here mainly for the mission and I wanted to see the museum next to it that was closed! There is security walking around, but they were very helpful when I got lost. I did see a few maps around the campus. Really bigger than it looks!

Easy to walk around and see the mission type architecture. The gardens are stunning, and this time of year (April) the wisteria is in bloom. In June the jacaranda tree is in bloom. Be sure to stop and go into the mission. It is beautiful.

Just a wonderful tranquil place to work around. I attended college as did my grandson. Excellent education, fantastic friends.

Work a short stop to stroll around campus and admire the hundreds of roses. Beautiful backdrop of beige buildings and palm trees.

Not only does Santa Clara University have a beautiful campus, it also houses the Santa Clara Mission, which is well worth the trip. At El Camino and The Alameda across from the Santa Clara train station.

The mission is fantastic, but the library is closed on Mondays.

Went to santa clara baseball stadium to watch son play against them for umass lowell. Beautiful stadium great concessions
Supposed to play four games, use their facilities as they are staying to play u of san Fransisco
But after a contentious game 3 of which we won to take 2of 3 they cancelled fourth game and refused to allow us the use of facilities for practice the rest of the week.
I guess a new division one school from the north east was not supposed to win two of the first three games
Sore losers
Ps there were many more fans there for lowell than the locals

Very nice campus. But every other word from everyone we came into contact with was "sustainability", without any practical concept of what the word meant. It was overbearing. My son was interested in engineering. But most of the tour was focused on things like houses built from hay bales and similar interesting, but impractical topics. I'm sure many people will be attracted to Santa Clara, we were not.

Teachers here focus on teaching and students rather than research. It's a great place for undergraduates.
Their fine arts programs deliver wonderful concerts, theatre, and dance events at a very low price.

I have visited this university on a number of occasions and met several people on campus. All of them are very nice and friendly. The center piece of the university is the mission, which is still very active. The buildings have this historic charm about them - albeit, some do not have air conditioning,
We know people who have attended the university and a couple of them liked it so much that they stayed on to do graduate work there.
They also have an active athletic program and the public can often buy tickets to their events.
There are also other university events that the public can attend (note: a good place to look is the campus calendar on the web site.) There is also a good museum that is open to the public during the academic year - it is called the de Saisset Museum and is both an art and history museum. It is very good, but check the hours.

Beautiful campus for the oldest university in California. Special place as a Jesuit institution of higher education. The campus is not huge but definitely complete with 14 residence halls, athletic facilities and fields, a nice library, a student center and many classroom and research buildings. There are also many eating establishments. There is a historic mission church surrounded by beautiful rose gardens. We were here for a two day orientation program for our son who will attend in the fall and it seems like a wonderful university.
The landscaping is very well maintained and the campus is very beautiful. Definitely a nice spot for a visit to take in some California history and to enjoy strolling the beautiful campus.

We visited with friends at the very nice Santa Clara University Campus. Its a very pretty campus with a Jesuit Mission. There is the academic buildings, museums, sports fields, and visitor programs. Students enjoy going there.

Enjoyed visiting this beautiful campus, comparable to a more intimate Stanford-like campus. That's high praise, I know. But each year new investments pay off - tastefully integrated into a warm, accessible campus.

Santa Clara University - a beautiful campus in the heart of the Silicon Valley ... a great place to go to college or to attend a sporting event to root for the Broncos!

The campus of the University of Santa Clara is very beautiful and quiet (on weekends at least). It is worth a visit, particularly to see the Mission and it's gardens with old roses and very old and large wisteria vines. There is a nice little art gallery there as well.

Nice place and well maintained.Enjoy the visit to this famous campus.Feel very different. You will really like it

SCU is a must see campus. It’s small but worth taking an hour to stroll the grounds. The whole campus is beautifully landscaped. Flowers everywhere. Pro-tip: The campus is very flat and it’s easy to walk. Dress comfortably for the season as Santa Clara can be warm in the summer and cool in the winter, especially at night. Don’t miss the beautiful Mission Santa Clara.

Lovely place to put a blanket for a picnic and enjoy a peaceful day. Beautifully kept grounds, the church is gorgeous and all the California history of the missions. Nice place to take a walk.

Beautiful and well kept grounds. Have been doing construction of new buildings and student housing for the last couple of years. Nice spanish style architecture. Mission Santa Clara is inside the school. I can't say its student population culturally diverse since the majority are wealthy white kids. I think this place is overrated. Also, they should consider expanding their degree choices.

Very nice campus. Small as you would expect of a private college. The landscaping is kept up beautifully.

Very nice place to be in, calm place with an old Church in it's premises. Surrounded by houses and the Silicon valley all the Major IT firms have their offices in this locality. It was a pleasure visiting Santa Clara. Easily approachable by road from SFO. The architecture of the houses is mesmerizing. There are some very old houses in this locality.

Worth a quick walk through, or take the campus admissions tour. Check out the chapel. We did not go to the museum.

Santa Clara University is one of the most beautiful campuses I’ve ever seen...it had both my wife and I begging for a do-over! Its location adjacent to the San Jose International airport and the Cal Train make the campus easy to navigate to-and-from, and when not on campus the beach (Santa Cruz) was only 20 minutes away. A short and pleasant train ride had us eating dinner on fisherman's wharf in San Francisco, and the wineries of Napa are very close as well. The school is rich in history, and has one of the most engaging and competent academic staff's I have ever met...this school is a treasure!

Such a nice place. That garden behind the church is amazing. Full of different roses and other flowers. And that amazing smell!
Nice place to take a walk or just sit on a blanket and enjoy Spanish atmosphere.

This is a private university with very elegant buildings, landscaping and walkways. There is also a historical mission church on campus. Healthy food choices.

I loved the smallness of the university. I also loved the preserved history of the place....from the original oak tree to the plaques in front of the school that honored the site of their first liquor establishments.

Visited on the proverbial college tour. It was how many colleges can we visit over a long weekend. I enjoyed Santa Clara. Nice school in a nice location. My daughter preferred Pepperdine. Shows what a dad knows.

Visited SCU today with my youngest daughter Taylor, we did the admissions tour, the tour started with a PowerPoint presentation and a short video. Followed by the
admissions lady who was very informative and friendly , then we had 3 current students give their perspective and take a range of questions, they did a great job.
Finally we had a uni campus tour by another current student which also was very interesting
The campus is stunning beautiful gardens well maintained the university itself has about 8000 students and is focused in three main schools
We took the Caltrain from / to San Francisco to the uni and walked across the road to the campus, very convenient.
Overall a great day out

Good for visit on weekends.
Very green, surrounded by big trrees & beautiful gardens/plants. the church nearby is very beautiful.
Overall good for couple of hours visit. You can also visit the art-museum in the campus & spend a very calm half-day in this beautiful campus.

Visited this University several times. All my kids attended this University. Beautiful campus and superb educational facility.

In the heart of the Silicon Valley you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to learn and have practical real world exposure. Not only that, but the Jesuit values make it a school that wants to teach it's students to be good people too. The campus is beautiful, green, and peaceful. Student population is cheery and welcoming. Santa Clara is really on the come up and getting ready to join the list of elite schools, already one of the best on the West Coast. I absolutely loved my time here as a student.

Nice and small campus with the California Mission in the middle. It is also close to a lot of restaurants and other places to hang out. Santana Row in San Jose is not too far away either.

Visiting the campus with my nephew. It is on his wish list. The campus is empty, however it was nice and relaxing to enjoy the well maintained campus and enjoy the natures and admire the architecture.

Our son is a student here, and we have loved visiting him here for the past 4 years. The campus grounds are meticulously maintained, with beautiful lawns, a rose garden, and of course, the Mission Church, which a gorgeous example of early California mission architecture. It's a great place for a walk, peaceful & quiet most of the time. Great access to public transportation, as it is across the street from a CalTrain station, and a 5-minute shuttle ride from the San Jose airport. Love this campus!

This is a lovely university campus and worth a stroll when visiting the area. Make sure you have time to visit the beautiful Mission as well ... beautiful space with great acoustics.

Oh my…my daughter attended the Women’s Volleyball Prospect Camp and we are incredibly disappointed. She just finished attending nationals with her team in the USA division and this camp is a joke. The level of talent was very low and she did not learn a thing. We have attended over 8+ prospect camps over the past few months and have take away something great from each one of them. This one was very different. If you are a new played (never played before) this would be a good camp for you.

Beauty full campus me and my wife love to walk in the campus.so clean and neatly keep, great university

This is a small campus, but has such a wonderful look to it. the Spanish style architecture and the grounds keeping provide so such a beautiful experience.

We did the campus tour and information session. The student tour guide was very enthusiastic and helpful. The campus had a lot of construction and remodeling- the new cafeteria and the engineering quad - but overall was a nice overview of the school. It was great they had a model of a typical dorm room to visit.

Used to go jogging early mornings there.. its so beautiful! The gardens are amazing, the walkways are well defined. So much fun to stroll around!

I love SCU: beautiful and classic. Most importantly, it is so friendly and having a huge impact to the local community. It sends me flyers of the upcoming free events. I always go to the campus when I am feeling down. It's so beautiful and peaceful. i wish i could contribute to the university too.

Good reputation, great in Silicon Valley, good networking and alumni base.

very nice place to visit, pacefull on week ends, and very nice church inside. very good garden maintenance, i loved it.

So I’ve spent LOTS of time here, but it’s also a gorgeous place to visit if you’re in the area. It seriously looks like a resort... there’s beautiful places to walk around or picnic, take lots of pictures of the rose gardens which are stunning, the people are nice, and there’s actually good food in the various cafes and main dining hall.

Especially nice university to just go and visit even if you are not looking to send your child. Historical Mission , historical out buildings , The largest elm I have ever seen and very well cared for landscaping. A place, especially on the weekends for a nice Saunter, as John Muir would say. They also have great art exhibits.

Beautiful campus located in the center of Silicon Valley with an excellent reputation for a small private Jesuit college. Vibrant college life, sports, theater, the arts, sciences, engineering, community service. Excellent student services combined with great eduction. The campus itself is very modern and new buildings are always being constructed to keep pace with demand.

Education has become a form of business, like bankers lending shark loans, to hook you for life till you payoff your student loan, whereas, most countries offer them for free or are affordable. UC Berkeley too has become greedy like Stanford.

Living in Santa Clara, I have had the opportunity to partake in several different activities on their campus. Basketball, Softball, Baseball, Soccer and some summer camps.
I also have some relatives who have graduated from Santa Clara, and one who is currently attending.

I now have a quest . . . to visit all the missions in California. The Santa Clara Mission stands surrounded by beautiful flower gardens and pathways. Everywhere you walk, there is a sense of peace, history and comfort. What a great idea to have it on a lovely campus with such lovely young people around.

Our daughter attended a 3 day volleyball camp. Us being interested parents went and observed during 3 of the training sessions. Very good overall instructional program in place. Living quarters for our daughter was a dorm room which was clean and adequate for the cause. Coaches and assistants were outstanding!!! Would recommend this camp to others that's for sure.

Very enjoyable tour. Be sure you register for the tour. Ours was full and I think some people were being turned away. We learned a LOT! One tour we did NOT register for that they WERE able to accommodate us on was the engineering tour. Next time we would register for that tour as well, but they were wonderful to let us join them even without registering.

Stunning campus, beautiful grounds. The Mission is well worth a visit and is the Art Gallery, the Rose Garden. Perhaps the oldest college in California?

While a friend was in from out of town, my car over heated near here and we opted to take a walk thru the University grounds.
Considered a Private University, Operated by The Catholic Church, They main studies are Accounting, Law and Engineering.
It's no surprise that on the grounds are historic buildings which date back to the 1800's or more .. Mission Santa Clara, founded by Father Junipero Serra.
Located near the Santa Clara Police Department and Santa Clara Cal Train Station on El Camino Real ... The Grounds of the University are quiet and peaceful . . .
Covering a large parcel of land, One can easily become lost, if you are foreign to the area ... But provides many walking paths with statues and plaques to be read.
Well maintained grounds and buildings. If I could afford it, I'd attend !

I'm in love with this campus. Great place to bring kids or teens to start looking at colleges. Has the most beautiful chapel I've ever seen. Small class sizes and campus for easier teacher talking time

This is the place to go. Such a peaceful campus. Love to go to the bookstore to buy gifts for guests. We love to take exchange students from Sister Cities to the campus and talk about it's history.

Easy parking, beautiful campus. The mission is wonderful and the garden next to it was in full bloom

Husband and I visited Santa Clara University with our teen son in November. He's a college junior and is looking for a college that has a great business program and a fun collegiate environment. The folks at Santa Clara delivered a professional tour that was on time and hit its mark in presenting a wonderful picture of campus life at their institution. It was raining (really!) when we visited however that did not really hamper the walking portion of the tour. The information session was split into two half hour segments, the second half was quite unique in that it was a private Q&A with two students and it it really allowed for individual questions to be answered. We actually saw a dorm room (though it appeared to be their "showcase" dorm room) and son was blown away by their business school. He definitely left impressed and excited by the possibility of attending the school.

If you have a few hours to kill but don't want to be in a crowd, take a self-directed tour of the Santa Clara University campus. You can visit the museum, the new Learning Center (what used to be the library), or just walk around the campus. It is not a huge campus, but it is open and free, not like some other campuses which are practically fenced in like a prison. It takes a while to see everything because you will want to stop at almost every building and admire the architecture, the landscaping, and even the parking structure has a beautiful facade which makes it look like a large office building. Everything is maintained well. If you have any questions you can ask the many friendly students who are walking along.

We were here visiting our daughter. The campus is small but contained. Easy to walk around. Visit the chapel. Very historic.

Beautiful campus lined with palm trees. Small campus, but not tiny. plenty of amenities. The century old rose garden is a must to be seen.

Be sure to see a piece of the original wall of the old CA mission preserved on the campus. It is located near the center.

This large campus is located just north of San Jose and offers beautiful historic buildings, a classic Spanish Mission Church, and a free art museum. Near the church is an historic adobe wall built in 1833 by the Jesuit priests. The lovely flower gardens feature impeccable landscaping and is perfect for an afternoon stroll.

Founded by the Jesuits as a college over 150 years ago
Amazingly beautiful and peaceful campus with lots of green
There's is something about a space like the university of Santa Clara campus that makes me wanna be a student again. It has a great atmosphere and vibe. Something intangible. I could feel the intellectual and academic energy
Came on a tour for law school bound offspring
Knew I wanted to see the campus, visit museum and old chapel
All are those sites are impressive as well as the whole academic mission and excellence here
Visit and consider getting an education here

Was recently here for my 50th class reunion. I was impressed with how beautiful they have made the campus.

Campus is very quiet (despite classes in session) Ate in the Student Union center and Taco Salad was delicious!

Outstanding beauty on this campus. New Art History building is a must-see with the stunning Chihuly glass sculpture in foyer. Dunno residence hall got a face-lift and they did an outstanding job. The students basically have a new dorm.

As this is Tripadvisor and not a college counseling site, I will just talk about the tourist aspecs of SCU. The campus is very pretty, well worth a walk around. Be sure to look in the Santa Clara Mission church which is quite beautiful. Also, walk along the various walkways, as the architecture and landscape are quite interesting. Parking is free Sat and Sun and I believe you can get a parking pass to park free for 2 hours on the other days.

Our son's graduation in the master's program. Beautiful campus and university personnel were most helpful. The only negative was just the large crowd.

What a beautiful University. The scenic campus has a lot of beautiful palm trees, green grass and beautiful garden. What a peaceful environment to learn. The Mission was open and absolutely breathtaking. Such a historic landmark for the city of Santa Clara. There are some renovations going on campus. Go Broncos!

SCU is rated one of the most beautiful campuses in the country, and is worth a visit. I enjoyed strolling through the serene mission gardens, visiting the historic Mission Santa Clara church, taking in exhibits at the de Saisset Museum and Gallery and walking around the attractive campus.

Gorgeous campus, wonderful people, fabulous institution.

Very nice campus and offering great academics as well. Nice area!!!
Close to San Francisco, Palo Alto and San José.

Went with my high school son for a visit and unlike many college visits, was not treated as a number. Considered "mid-size" but has a feel of a bigger University. Beautiful grounds throughout including the missionary in middle of campus. Had student guide us and very helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed it (now one my son's top 3 schools).

Visited SCU for a small national convention. Beautiful faciities, lovely campus, great meals and servers. Wish I had come to college here!

Because of my grand daughter, she is eight years old, her dancing school had a performing in the Louis B.Mayer Theatre. it is located inside of this university. This is wonderful theatre for performing arts in this area. the theatre seats designed very comfortable to watch the entire show, we enjoyed watching the performers on the stage, we were not be blocked by front row.
Before the showtime, we had chance to visite the campus and church. this is very nice university

Amazing campus and better university. It is the best campus I have seen in my life although I have been to +100 campuses across the nation.

A degree from here means something. It's geared toward working people so classes are scheduled accordingly...very close to downtown San Jose.

Beautiful campus. Police Department and Train Station located right across the street. Loved the Mission!!

It's nice to walk the campus, visiting St. Claire's herb garden, the rose garden, and the marker to an early SCU student who built and flew one of San Jose's first airplanes worked.

The campus looks like a 5-star resort. The library has a ton of cozy spaces to study that look over the campus. The campus grounds are maintained extremely well, everything is very clean and well kept.

This lovely campus supports high quality higher education. everyone was warm and friendly. The museum has an intriguing show.

With palm tree lined walkways, and numerous historical ties (it's one of California's oldest colleges), SCU is a very nice place of solace. I cannot personally comment on its academics as I've never been a student here. I have friends who are its alumni and praise the school quality. The campus is beautifully laid out - resembles a nice park and is a great place to enjoy a peaceful tranquil walk.

Parking permit required but two hours free for Mission visit. Lovely place to walk. Art museum was closed but adjacent to the Mission.

Its a great campus to visit, and does not feel like a school ! The mission church is a real treat and its a mix of old and new buildings, which makes it fascinating !

What a BEAUTIFUL campus! The grounds are GORGEOUS, and very well-manicured and maintained! The mission is beautiful. The University has grown quite a bit since I last visited - and it is FABULOUS! They did an incredible job of expanding whilst maintaining the historical beauty of the campus. WOW!

A lovely campus with friendly students; Mission in the center of campus. We did a self directed tour after getting a map from the admissions office. Very easy to walk everywhere. All the students were most happy to answer any questions we had and were very happy with their college choice!

We were there for a Wedding last year and thought the campus was beautiful. We actually got lost so we had to ask for directions from of the students and they were so happy to help us. So I asked them " how do you like going to College here?' they all replied quickly "WE LOVE IT!!"

Small University Atmosphere - California Mission in Center of Campus - Beautiful Grounds - Friendly Folks

Very pretty campus and the Mission and art gallery are worth a visit. Student mass is at 9 pm in the Mission on Sunday nights.
I have visited lots of campuses. The architecture here is bland. It is worth going to see the mission and the two historic "adobes" near by. One is the "women's club" adobe. Information about them is on the Santa Clara visitors bureau web site.
