Went there for Mother’s Day with family and friends. There are plenty of tables in the shade where you can have a picnic which we did as well. Flowers were blooming so it was very pretty . You can buy them as well

I decided to stop by this nursery before work. It was a beautiful sunny day, about 70 degrees. I love taking pictures of flowers. The gardens are in bloom from early May to the first week of June. It's a perfect place to take mom for Mother's Day. In about an hour, I took nearly 200 shots. I enjoyed these gardens just as much as the Dahlia Festival in late summer. If you see yourself getting tired, there are plenty of colorful benches to sit on. Also, they have a number of picnic tables set up under the shade of the trees. Luckily, there's no fee, unlike the Tulip Festival we checked out a couple weeks earlier. I'm planning to go back on the next sunny day to take more pics!!!

For three short weeks in May, the Schreiner's Iris Gardens become one of the most beautiful spots in the world. The 10 acre display gardens are arranged in rectangular beds with multiple iris plants supplemented by rhododendrons, day lilies, oriental poppies and other flowers. This is augmented by circular beds of iris surrounding a flowering tree or large plant. The color combinations are excellent. This is heaven for a photographer.
There are plenty of chairs and benches to rest if needed. There is a flower shop and gift store. We came on a week day and our only regret was that the gift shop did not have hot drinks available. It is hard to believe that the gardens are within sight of the I-5 freeway. The commercial iris growing areas surround the display gardens. It only costs $5 per car to enter.

We have had tremendous success with the dozens of Iris we have purchased from Schreiner's Iris. We have made an annual event of visiting the display gardens to select new subjects for our Iris gardens.

We toured the gardens, gift shop and order placement area. The gardens are beautiful and the colors and planting schemes interesting and very well done. There is a shady area with chairs and tables and benches throughout the gardens. The afternoon we were there, wine tasting and a food cart were options.
People were picnicking at a table within the gardens, so apparently one can bring their own food.
Admission is charged. The parking area is gravel. The path to part of the garden was covered with water and mud so people were forced to use a trail. Use caution. There were roots sticking out in places which led to a person tripping and falling. Although the person suffered only scrapes. bruises and dirty clothes, it could have been worse. A little attention to trail maintenance would be appropriate. Restrooms were not well maintained, but there were a lot of people on the premises.
The gardens are well worth the trip.

Spring and summer are the best times to visit these beautiful gardens! Each Iris has a name, some quite clever and named by the family.
There is also a darling shop with fun items like Iris aprons, cute hats and scarves. Mother's day is huge! Bring family and look for your favorite iris. You can order some or take some cut iris home.

well worth the stop, such gorgeous gardens. we missed prime time iris show but no matter, it was very pretty! Our dog wanted to stop and smell the .....everything :)

The flowers are of such a lovely spring collections and you could tell they were at them constantly to keep the garden in top shape

Grounds are beautifully taken care of. Garden very welcoming with people painting or having a picnic lunch. Lovely experience.

Extensive iris plantings, with incredible variety. The display gardens are gorgeous, and bouquets of a dozen irises are a steal at 7.50. Pretty place to relax and take photos.

In spring, this is a wonderful destination to explore the garden. You do have to pay $5 for parking, but the serenity is worth it. Most plants are labeled so you can plan to buy the iris later or find a nursery to inquire about the other vegetation.

Beautiful Irises in bloom everywhere. Call ahead to find out when the rises are in bloom and when they are open. Really amazing amount of rhizomes of all colors and kinds.

Wonderful walk through this amazing garden to see a wider variety of irises than I ever imagined possible------ extensive varieties of color, sizes, shapes, and sizes... and with such clever and even comical names. Great activity for a spring afternoon!

Have visited many times taken my family also my work mates with disabilities, always treated well and enjoyed the views and the food

I visit the place May 25. It was rainy day when I visit there but I really enjoyed this very beautiful garden. So beautiful flowers in the garden and very Kind people!!!
People who love iris must visit there! You can find so many different kind of iris!!
비가 오는 날에 방문하였습으나 환상적인 가든의 아름다움을 즐길수 있었습니다. 여러 다양한 종류의 아이리스를 볼 수 있었고 직원 분들은 정말로 친질하였습니다

The gardens have a mother's day event, breakfast, and you get to tour rows and rows of beautiful iris flowers. There is a catalogue and you can pick and choose right then what you might like to buy for next season's planting. While we loved the food and the flowers, we felt like the Iris bulbs were overpriced for us.

I have been to this site many times, as well as ordered many bulbs for gardens that I have created. I have even moved these bulbs from Oregon to both Washington and California with great success. I have split them so many times over the years with good results. I started with a 50 bulb plan. After 12 years I have over 1500! I keep enjoying them year after year. so do many people that walk by my home and stop to enjoy the beauty and the fragrance of some of them.

I have visited the gardens several time in previous years but missed out this year. It is a beautiful, aroma-filled place to visit. I highly recommend it.

Visit in the early morning and take a leisurely stroll through the gardens. The variety and colors are amazing. There are park benches, some in the shade, to stop and gaze at the surroundings. You can buy cut flowers or bulbs to take home. There is also a pleasant gift shop, with iris themed gift items. Remember to take your camera.

I am an iris fanatic. For years I rely on Schreiner's for the best in the business. Quality plants in a myriad of colors and sizes. Be daring - you will be pleased. Bravo!

The iris are in full bloom right now (through June 9 is peak season), and the garden is almost overwhelming in the number of different colors and shapes of blossoms. Not only iris, but the garden is also full of columbine of every color, peonies, and poppies. There is also a flower sale room where you can stroll rows of tables covered with a few different iris in each vase. They sell cut flowers as well as bulbs, and you can order bulbs to be mailed to you, which I have done as a wedding gift. There are quite a few benches throughout the garden, where you can just sit and enjoy the colorful view.

Not only gorgeous orchids of varying styles and colors, but gardens interspersed with poppies and other flowers to set them off! A wonderful way to spend some time strolling and enjoying the beauty of nature.

If you're in the area during May...this is a Must See! So beautiful!!! I've never seen so many amazing varieties of Iris in one place. The exhibit garden is impressive, and you can even buy bunches to take with you. Loved it!

We visited Schreiners Garden for their annual Iris showing. There we hundreds of iris in every color imaginable. Bring your camera as the place is a Monet setting.

We love going every year. Take the kids who like to wander around and my granddaughter loved taking pictures.

First off: definitely check their website for their calendar of events, so you don't go during the off season and miss the irises.
But if you are in Salem in the late spring timeframe, stop in and take an hour (or less/more depending on your preference!) to walk around the amazing display gardens bursting with color and a variety of irises and other flowers as well.
It is free to walk around and it is just beautiful. They have a little gift shop and you can place an order for irises (if you are lucky enough to live where they will grow/thrive!) They have restrooms also.
It is a delightful family-run place.

You will never see a prettier place when the Iris' are in bloom. The owners spend months readying this beautiful garden for the public each year. The grounds are impecably maintained. Take you time to spend some time there. Walk slowly, take pictures and when you need a little rest, there are benches right out in the middle of the garden. The outside world is not visible from inside this huge garden. Here's the part you won't believe . . . It's Free. I missed this for years. Now our family goes at least two times a year!!

Nice to spend a Spring morning at a well kept garden. The only concern is the price of the bulbs appears to be high than necessary.

I haven't actually had the pleasure of seeing their gardens in person but I have ordered and grown approximately 60 of their irises with wonderful success. Professional to deal with and they have excellent plants, all of them grew well. They ship to Canada with no fuss at all which is not the usual but was much appreciated.

these gardens are beautiful at bloom time!! the fields are so picture perfect.
rows and rows of beautiful flowers and quite reasonable prices.

Beautiful gardens with well marked varieties of Iris and other flowers. Catalogs are available. Cut flowers, plants and a gift shop are on site, as are food vendors.

You can visit to enjoy the blooms of the season and learn how to easily grow your own iris's. Perhaps hundreds of varieties. Staff can show you how to grow them and help the flowers thrive at your own home.
Enjoy also the history of this nationally famous farm and the role of the family in pioneering varieties of iris's.

When we lived in the Northwest we visited Schreiner's Iris Garden in Salem as often as possible. The most beautiful fields/acres of flowers we have ever seen. The Iris are the big draw but the daffodils and peonies were just as exciting to see. Ordering your favorites while you were there were exciting to receive when planting season arrived at home. If you can visit put it on your bucket list. If you can't visit order with confidence...from the field to your home. It is worth the cost and pays off later.

Stunning gardens...must visit when in bloom! You will want to order so many iris that your yard will be covered in them...just exquisite.

We always enjoy visiting Schreiner's Iris Gardens around Mothers Day when all the flowers are in full bloom. Go early and enjoy the gardens mostly to yourselves.

Although we picked the rainiest day of the month to visit, the place did not disappoint. Such fabulous irises in every color combination one could imagine - lilac, beige, tangerine, ginger, lemon yellow, deep purple, champagne pink! The beds are lined with grass walking paths and are inter planted with other flowers, such as columbine, lupine, ranunculus and surrounded by flowering dogwoods, pink horse chestnuts, rhodies, and maples. Lots of colorful benches are scattered around so you can just sit and take in the spectacular garden. All the plants are labelled so you know what you are looking at. Plenty of parking and there is no entrance fee. A must-see for the gardener!

Schreiner's has a huge variety of irises to enjoy in their free Display Gardens. They are of all kinds of colors and shapes. Many of them are available for sale in their gift shop or online, but the visit itself is free.
Take your camera along -- with a large memory card. I took over 200 pictures between my phone and my DSLR -- and not very many of them are of the same strain of flower.
Very highly recommended.

well I had time on my hand so I thought I would visit the number 1 place to see in Salem ugh couldn't someone have written it's a seasonal place. Drove out of my way only to find out there are no flowers to its credit it does look like it would be a nice place to visit can't see it as number though

Shreiner's is a very large iris farm, hundreds of acres. They plant in rows of color so when the irises are in bloom, it looks like miles of colored stripes. There is a small shop attached where you can order irises year-round. You can walk among the irises during the blooming season in May. They even host an annual volksmarch during the blooming season. If you walk onto the Quinaby Rd bridge over Interstate 5 you can see it from above, which is a great way to look at it (if a bit noisy).

We are new to the Willamette Valley and taking in as many flower gardens as we can. This is one of the best. The big crowds at the big fields are fine, but this demo garden area is just perfect in my view, with wide grassy aisles, colorful Adirondack seating, and gorgeous blooms. Talk about photo opportunities galore. The only problem is picking the stalks for your take-home bouquet. (Although I was removing wilted stalks almost daily. But even the two stalks left by the end of the week were dramatic.) Right off I-5 and highly recommend!

My friend and I went to see the gardens because we were seeing such beautiful advertisements on TV. Well the plants were beautiful but the upkeep of the gardens and grounds themselves were very much lacking. I kept telling myself this is after-all a business to ship flowers and not made for people to tromp through! I would go there again to see the variety I might like to buy but I would not take a guest thinking to show them a beautiful garden.

I love to take pictures of flowers. The garden is free to visit and open during the spring. They have a huge display garden where there is a sample of each iris they have on offer. They have mixed in other flower like columbine, peony, and ornamental trees so you can get a feel for what the iris would look like in your own garden. There is well groomed grass paths through the entire garden and it is very even. There are picnic tables and chairs scattered through out the garden. On the weekends during spring when they are open they often have food and wine or mother's day events. These can be quite crowded so it is best to arrive early for these events.
I love to get there first thing in the morning and get pics of the flowers when they are still covered in dew. Some photographers even hold photography classes there every year. Never attended one myself but I think it would be fun to do.

Stop by the garden first, view the sample varieties,
Then go, buy cut flowers, Bulbs, or plants.
Try to go when the artists are painting the Iris'

Beautiful Gardens and spectacular Irises. Lovely painted benches around the gardens to relax and take in the beauty of the flowers. Quite peaceful and charming! The variety of Irises is astounding - I couldn't get enough!

We stopped at Schreiner's on Memorial Day and toured their lovely gardens. What a wonderful day to see the blooming iris! They had a great festival for the day and the gardens were fabulous. Highly recommended during the blooming season!

After pouring over their website last night, we decided to drive from Bend to the gardens this morning to see the gardens and flowers in person before placing an order. Soooo glad we did! Being able to see them growing with companion flowers and plants (love how they cover up the iris' cankles with a variety of pansies, violas and ranunculus) and to smell them made a BIG difference in what we ordered. All the staff were friendly and if they didn't know something, they directed us to someone knowledgeable. As Salem's season is at least a month ahead of Bend, many varieties were past their true season, but they do a lovely job with cut, labeled and priced examples in the flower show, the gardens themselves and gorgeous catalogs. Between the website and the gardens themselves, these folks have it dialed in perfectly! Families were taking group photos together with their dogs on the various benches and seating areas within the manicured garden area. Such a delightful day!

This place is absolutely beautiful!!! I've never see such pretty irises or so many different colors!!

Schreiner's Iris Gardens has a lovely landscaped garden with wide lawn walkways. The iris are planted among other garden flowers and shrubs, so you can see the iris in a realistic setting. Pleasant seating near the garden, also many other plants available for sale. The Iris are not available until fall but can be ordered at the Gardens.

I enjoyed the beauty of the display gardens just after a rain. I got some marvelous photos. They did provide a tent and the shop is covered if you need to get out of the rain. There are so many colors and varieties of Iris to photo... a great place to go. Allow a couple hours if you are taking pictures! Come home with some stems of Iris for your home. Only $6.00 for 12 stalks! If you want to see my articles and photos just google my name and Schreiner's to find them.

The display garden is like a fairy land with purple globes, colorful cones, pink trees, and spikey spherical trees. It's full of colors and shapes, lawn ornaments, and pastel benches. It's worth the visit during the May bloom.
I visited on a day of flower viewing at three gardens within a few mile radius which makes for an amazing day for flower lovers (Schreiner, Brooks, and Adelman).
The display garden is very close to the parking....if you keep walking there is a second display garden beyond the first one. It's hidden from view, so follow the path. Along the path to the second display garden are quite a number of lilacs--one of my favorites for their fragrance. That was a treat!
A short walk away it's also possible to walk among the iris growing fields which were also in bloom. There was no one in the fields as everyone seemed to stick to the display garden; I had the whole area to myself.
Unlike the other gardens I visited on this day, Schreiner charges to enter the garden. It's modest at $5 per car. I visited on a weekday and there were still a lot of other visitors, although not enough to be distracting. My guess is weekends are quite packed--visit on a weekday if possible.

Relaxing to look at the amazing iris's
Great stuff
Great plants to buy depending on the time of year
Calm place to have lunch w a small group

Lovely gardens to wander and look at the many different varieties in bloom. Lots of benches for sitting and enjoying quiet contemplation. A wonderful way to spend the morning.

We were in Salem visiting our son and I saw in the Travel Salem brochure that the Iris Festival was happening during our stay. We drove to Schreiner's Iris Gardens last Thursday and spent a couple of hours walking through the fields-iris in every color imaginable for as far as one could see. We then visited the 10-acre garden which was exquisite--along with the iris, there were lupine, delphenium and columbine--all favorites of mine. I'm sure the gardens were packed on Saturday and Sunday,

This is a beautiful garden, filled with a wide variety of flowering plants to enjoy. Stop and shop for bulbs or ride down the road and buy fresh cut flowers in season. Nice place to take a elderly parent or friend. Not too big, flat and laid out well. I would say it is north of Keizer, off River Rd No., not Salem.

When the iris are in bloom, stop here to admire the countless varieties of color and shape grown just north of Salem. (From I-5 the fields are ribbons of blues, purples, whites, yellows....) A walk through the old-fashioned garden shows off these amazing blossoms as well as companion plants. You can use an inventory list to mark the specimens you want to purchase; tubers are delivered at planting time in the fall.

I first noticed the Iris fields while driving south on I-5 between Woodburn and Salem. For as far as the eye could see to the right of the freeway the color of the Iris brought beauty to the eye of all who traveled by. I had to find where I could stop and see such beauty up close. After a bit of research, I found that the owners of the field, the Schreiner family, also had test gardens that were open to the public. We had to park along the road beside the trees that were in front of the property, but once finding our way into the garden, we were, along with many other folks, welcomed into the most beautiful iris garden I have ever seen. All was free, and if we liked any of the Iris so much that we wanted to purchase some of the bulbs, they were available.
While the Schreiner's Iris Garden is a bit of a challenge to find, (GPS helps a lot) it is well worth the time and effort. One more thing, be absolutely sure to take your camera.

I went 4 times to see most of the dwarf iris in bloom. Go twice, if you can, to see the taller ones. It's a lovely garden with good walking on grass and places just to sit. Seeing the blooming iris right there makes it easy to choose some for home. If it is dry, it should be wheel-chair accessible. This is a nationally known iris grower, and well worth a visit in May. Call for best bloom time.

A group of six of us visited the garden in early June 2010. The flowers were absolutely beautiful, not just the irises but the lupines, alium, poppies, pansies and rhododendrons. The day was overcast, perfect for taking pictures. Make sure you have pen and paper handy, the hardest part is deciding which irises you want to purchase. Wear comfortable walking shoes and plan on spending at least a few hours. We planned on spending more money, but when it came time to place our order the clerk gave us a generous discount along with free irises, which prompted me to purchase a rusty metal iris which looks great in my garden. The irises arrived at the proper planting time and in excellent condition. This garden is a must see for photographers of nature and avid gardeners.

When the irises are in bloom, it is absolutely beautiful. We stopped on a backroads drive and enjoyed it very much. They also sell rhizomes to plant and it's easy to see examples of what you're buying. The staff was friendly.

We passed fields of irises on our way to Portland, OR and wanted to see where the entrance was from the freeway. Amazed at how beautiful they are! It was raining but the sun shone through briefly, allowing us to take a lot of great photos of the blooms. There is also a charming garden tucked behind the fields that you will not want to miss!

I have ordered from Schreiners for at least 13 years. I have always received first class superior rhizomes and they all have produced gorgeous blooms. Excellent service too.

I am not reviewing the gardens, but their mail order business. I have ordered irises from Schreiner's on several occasions and continue to be amazed when I open the package to see fresh, exceptionally large rhizomes. I will not even consider ordering form elsewhere, regardless of price. You get what you pay for and then some from Schreiner's. They're the best!

This is the most amazing place to visit if you like flowers. There are acres and acres of blooming irises. They are all colors and there is such a mass of each color that you can hardly believe what you're seeing. The bulbs are available for sale so can enjoy the same colors in your yard.

One great place to visit for incredibly beautiful iris. They have such an incredible variety of iris and all available to purchase. The first view of the Gardens is of the vast fields of iris like a vast rich carpet of colors all arranged in long, wide rows. Then upon arrival at the Gardens one can enjoy the varieties up close and personal. Booklets are available as well as online ordering for those who want to purchase but need more time to decide which ones to buy.

This was my first visit to Schreiner's Iris Gardens. I knew they grew iris for bulbs but I was unaware of the flower garden. WOW! Was I pleasantly surprised. There must be close to 5 acres of flowers - a bewildering variety - in all colors and sizes. As a photog-rapher I was overwhelmed with the possibilities presented. My wife came along and our dog was welcome as well. Even on a weekend it was not at all crowded. I highly recommend seeing this gorgeous display of color.

I've been to all the flower festivals around Oregon, Daffodil, Tulip, Dahlia etc.. and this is by far the most enjoyable. The event is not just about seeing fields but rather spending time in the gorgeous grass lined garden with blooming flowers and waterfalls and places to sit and just soak up the zen. The family that owns this garden are some of the most generous people I've ever met, they donated flowers to a memorial we had at work without our even asking them to. I would have been happy to pay for the lovely cut flowers but they wouldnt hear of it. I personally go every weekend of the festival and buy a dozen stems to have the Iris flowers in my home. This event is very highly recommended for individuals, photographers, families, and people in wheelchairs.

During my few hours stroll through Schreiner's Iris Gardens I was very impressed with the various flowers in with the many flower beds of Iris. This gave wonderful planting ideas by color and plants. The gardens are easy to navigate for strolling, with sitting areas provided. Also parking is close and easy to enter and exit. Grand gift shop.

We went somewhat pensively, but had a great time seeing all the different Iris’s! Who knew there were hundreds of different types? Beautiful and worth 2 hours of your time to see.

This is a wonderful place to pic out your iris bulbs. The have hundreds to choose from. Their gardens have iris of course, but all so include mature flowering bushes and vines. There are bright colored benches all around the gardens to take a few pictures. The parking was $5 for a car load very reasonable. They also had a couple of food vendors, but we didn't purchase anything.

Have been going here the last four springs. It just keeps getting better. If you love flower gardens, this is worth a stop. My now eight year old daughter enjoys attending every year.
Many perennials in additions to Iris, beautiful grounds to stroll, ample chairs scattered along and way and picnic tables to have a meal. Nice gift store, iris to purchase and order.

Love spending iris time at Schreiners. Best to avoid the weekend if you can, if you want to avoid the crowds. So many irises and flowers to admire and dream about

A fun time to visit the Iris gardens and buy cut flowers or bulbs to plant in your own garden. The gardens are amazing and each year draws thousands of visitors.

I was in awe looking at all of the beautiful varieties of irises. There are also other gardens off the same exit. It's just too bad that irises don't bloom all year round since I'm sure they're about gone by now. This is a must stop for any flower lover during their flowering season.

This is a great place and the pride of Salem/Keizer Oregon. It is amazing to see the irises in bloom...they are just majestic. And a little known fact: The Senate President picks out an iris by name and gives it to each Senator on their desk on the Senate floor. This is an attraction "you have to see to believe" and you get to take it home with you with cut flowers or bulbs. The Keizer Iris Festival is one of a kind!!

I am so happy we discovered Schreiner's gardens. They grow and sell irises, mostly, and they welcome people to come and enjoy them in fields and in the amazingly landscaped gardens they have. Also, the proprietor throws Memorial Day party, and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy music, food, and flowers. Everyone was very friendly, and we felt welcome, and amazed, and, quite honestly, touched by the easy-going elegance and warmth of the event. We, of course, ordered irises (who can resist that?) and we will be back next spring to enjoy this wonderful place.

Selling iris is their business, but we love to come just to wander the grounds. They maintain demonstration gardens for the many varieties of iris. However, they also have the whole area landscaped with such a wide variety of plants and flowers that there is something new to delight the senses all year round.
There are several separate sections of garden and going between them can bring you to secluded areas and some surprises along the way.
In addition to iris, they also have a garden shop where they sell many other plants. It is always a pleasure to stop by.

I cannot begin to describe the beauty of the Schreiner's Iris Gardens.
The Iris were in full bloom, as were the Peonies and many of the gorgeous spring flowers.
If you are near Salem, Oregon, and you love flowers, you are in for a real treat. The fields go for acres and acres and as far as the eye can see.
The beauty and the fragrance is phenomenal.

This iris farm is a great place to visit during their public viewing time. There's acres of display gardens that are gorgeous and fragrant. They have many benches and chairs throughout the gardens to rest and contemplate the beauty around you. They augment nature with wine tastings, music, and buckets of cut blossoms to buy at very reasonably prices. There's ample parking (including disabled which was particularly important for us) and places to picnic. There is also a food and drink stand if you'd rather. This is a fantastic place to take all ages to relax and wander. And don't forget to take your camera!

The gardens are beautiful, and such a peaceful wonderful setting. I was there with friends just to admire the wonderful plants, but it would be a great setting for a family get together, wedding, or other celebration. Plus there's a great gift shop, and snack bar, and a place to buy unusual plants and order bulbs. Even people with walkers and wheelchairs will be able to enjoy this lovely and LARGE garden.

It's an annual Mother's day pilgrimage for our family to go to Schreiner's. The German bearded irises are gorgeous! There's a showroom with cut flowers of all the types they have. You can order based on that, and the rhizomes are delivered at a later date. We bought 18 last year and got 4 as a bonus. They're all blooming right now.

A very beautiful garden and flower shop. Worth you time to stop, but also include the nearby Adelman Peony Gardens. Both these gardens are best in late May into June. The iris gardens have a stiff entry fee, but the peony gardens are free. Big crowds on a weekend during bloom season.

What a lovely garden, amazing iris’s all colors, but the peony’s were incredible, extremely big and gorgeous, lots of iris stems to buy from, cute little gift shop, a must farm every year

You cannot imagine how many colors irises come in. This is a world known catalog order garden. So worth seeing.

We drove more than one hundred miles to see the iris. Well worth the trip. What beauty! There are more flowers than just the iris, such as lilacs, pansies and lupine. Chairs are available for a rest after walking through the 10 acres of lovely flowers. Inside a building are buckets with cut iris for easier identifying. Also cut flowers for purchase. Oh yes a food stand for sustenance. So gorgeous! Need to go in May when the blooms are out.

I have bought iris from them for years and this year I thought I would purchase a few daylillies. These plants are OUTSTANDING and I was shocked that every one of them purchased bloomed this year!!! Huge plants, both daylillies as well as iris. Really nice people and quality company!!!

Open house on Memorial Day. Food available for purchase, vendors selling crafts and plants, shaded areas provided for sitting and relaxing, live music, and the beautiful-beyond-description gardens makes this a not-to-be-missed event.
In addition to irises, there are many other types of flowers, all beautifully presented and tended, some one-of-a-kind trees and shrubs... colorful beauty wherever you look.

I highly recommend a visit to this lovely garden. Though the accessible garden is small compared to the whole of the property, it will require a good 1-2 hours to slowly peruse the variety of blooms. Even on a crowded Saturday, there was plenty of room to move about comfortably. Parking is close to the viewing garden. On weekends, they do provide a food wagon and a place where you can purchase picked flowers from an assortment of beautiful blooms. Additionally, there is a lovely gift shop with all manner of jewelry, photos, cards and related items for those who truly enjoy the complexity and beauty of the iris. This is a must stop for gardeners and photographers alike. Definitely make this a stop on your journey to and from Salem, Oregon.

Imagine Iris' in every color. A photographers dream location. A must visit. Such a wonderful Salem/Keizer Spring tradition

We are invited by the gardens to have a display to sell our art over the 3 day week-end on Memorial Day. This usually coinsides with the peak of the flowers. The folks that run the gardens and the venders are great to work with. They are appreciative of the artists and helpful. There is usually a chicken dinner feast on Monday. The display gardens are an absolute delight and are right in front of the artists booths.

Schreiner's Iris Garden in full bloom is magnificent. Acres upon acres of gorgeous blooms and abundant varieties of iris to walk in as well as more formal gardens. You can learn about Iris growing and select from a multitude of offerings. The bearded and dwarf Iris I ordered thrived and filled my NH garden with wonderful memories of our visit and the Schreiner family. This is well worth a detour off I-5!

I live and work in this area and when they are in bloom every year it is a beautiful site with a huge variety of blooms.

My husband and I go every year to Schreiner's Gardens. The variety of irises and other flowers never cease to amaze us. We love being able to take our time as we stroll thru all the paths between their garden layouts because we both are photographers. The colors "palettes" are rich...and it's fun trying to catch the bees and hummingbirds as they flit around the blooms.
The other BIG drawing card for us is that it's FREE and we can go there as many times as we want to and not break our budget!
It's also a great place to take your children/grandchildren because there is plenty of room for them to run around :).
And those with need to be in a motorized chairs will find the grass and bark paths level and easy to get around(we saw a couple different people doing this).
Also, they have cut iris for sale at reasonable prices, along with different varieties of iris bulbs and other plants for sale too. :)

If you want to be surrounded by a beautiful, tranquil garden this is the place for you! The flowers are amazing and if you go during the week or a little later in the season it isn't super crowded. There are benches where you can rest or have a bite to eat. You can take home huge bouquets of beautiful flowers for a pittance and buy potted flowers and shrubs to take home to beautify your own garden. I visit here multiple times a year as different flowers bloom at differing times during the season. Their gardens are absolutely breath taking and it's free besides!

This happens in May.. really impressive blooming iris display gardens,, I've been there three times in the past 10 days just to take photos.

We visited the gardens during the May Iris Festival in Keizer, Oregon. The gardens were spectacular and always well groomed. A nice time was spent meandering through the grounds.

If you love flowers and gardens, this little haven will fill up your senses! We went on Mother's Day, which was gorgeous and at the beginning of bloom season. We also went Memorial Day, which was equally festive, with live music and a chicken BBQ. But the gardens are magnifi"scent"! They generously gave out a bouquet of Iris stems to mothers and they sell a dozen stems for only $6!! My bouquet continued to bloom for two weeks!
The gardens have a wide variety of flowers accenting the Iris in May, and blooming trees etc which probably delight the senses all summer. I'll just have to go again later this summer to check that out.
It is located north of Keizer/Salem, but well worth the trip - ten minutes from town.

This place is absolutely amazing if you love iris and flowers. this is the perfect place to take mom or your favorite auntie for an afternoon outing. There are picnic tables around, and you can bring your own snacks and enjoy the beautiful shade and gorgeous scenery! Make sure that you check to ensure the iris are blooming - if you happen to visit when they are in full bloom, you are in for a real treat!!

If you are in the area, this is an absolute must see. There is a glorious display of their irises and columbines in a park like setting. You can admire the blooms, sit on the benches and even bring a picnic lunch. This is the growers' display garden not a botancial garden. It is even accessible after their business hours. Well worth a stop during the blooming season in May/June. Check first.

When we visited this garden, it was a huge vista of irises, most in bloom, some not. The variety of flowers was truly amazing. As often happens, my wife got carried away with taking pictures. It will no doubt appear that she tried to take a picture of each different variety, but that's not a bad thing when you have an attraction as great as this one.

Most beautiful place to spend the morning or afternoon. Crowds on the weekend but if you can go during the week you should. Take a snack, there are tables and seating and take your camera and note pad. You will see flowers there that you would like to see in your own garden. Write down the names and order the bulbs. Peaceful and refreshing.

Took my friend here for her birthday. She loves Iris's. I loved the columbine and lupine. great shopping experience afterwards. Only thing we weren't prepared for was that you can't buy the bulbs on site and take with you. You order them and then pay S/H.

This garden is exception in its landscaping and beauty. It is located north of Salem (just south of Brooks) by driving west from old Highway 99 across I-5. In season, one can view hundreds of varieties of irises along with other types of flowers and shrubs. There is free admission, free parking, and the opportunity to purchase cut flowers as well as starter vegetables and snacks.

This is a nice place to spend some time with family. The flowers are beautiful (in season) and there is a small area for picnics. The number of varieties is remarkable.

My family loves this garden! Large garden with flowers of different colors. A great place for walking, painters and photographers!

Lots of visitors Memorial Day weekend but the flowers were gorgeous. This is our 2nd time here. We came after the weekend the year before and had the garden to ourselves.

If you love flowers, this is the place to go! The last two visits to Portland have included a visit to Schreiner’s garden during the peak season. Beautifully laid out gardens abound with all varieties of blooming plants (not just the iris). Areas to sit and enjoy your views are scattered conveniently along with a delightful beverage area. No matter what your age it’s a treat.
When you arrive, you can access a list that allows you to keep track of the varieties ( their are hundreds) you love for later purchase. The plants are then shipped to you during your planting season. Iris I’ve planted in the fall purchased from them exploded in the spring into dazzling colors and scents. We spent a relaxing 2 hours there. Optional cut iris to take home and enjoy were displayed on huge tables.
(If pictures are posted , the single iris grew at home the fall after planting)

Shreiner's is a commercial iris raising operation with a spectacular display in May/June. Grab a catalog and tour the incredible color variations possible with irises, marking those you want to buy. Prices range from $7 to $35. Lupines and dogwoods are also blooming. You can order the irises for shipping in July through September. Don't bother going any other time since there is a limited blooming season.

Lovely garden flower beds filled with iris mostly, but also columbine, peonies and other complimentary perennials. Visitors can stroll amongst the many beds, linger in the shady areas, or enjoy the picnic tables and lawn adirondack chairs. There is an indoor specimen building and order desk. Stroll through with an order sheet, drop it off and receive your bulbs in the mail. Some plants are available to purchase same day. During peak season ( I was there in peak) food carts are on site.

Acres and acres of iris in bloom. Any color you can think of. New varieties and colors are on display also.

I'm a local photographer and have been visiting Schreiner's to photograph their beautiful flowers. It's easy to spend an entire morning there getting lost in the array of beautiful colors and flowers. This is truly one of Oregon's hidden gems, a must-see place to visit!

Visit if you are in the market for Iris for your yard or as a gift. Very pleasant surroundings with a clean restroom. It would be difficult to make a choice the variety is so great.

The Gardens are immense, well maintained and contain more varieties of Iris than you could ever imagine. The parking lot fills up quickly so arrive early. This site is partucularly good for photography. The gift shop is well stocked wit a broad selection of gift items.

After buying their iris by mail for years, we made the opportunity to visit here during bloom time. Toward the end of the season but still a magnificent display in the fields as well as cut. Terrific photo ops, wonderful opportunity to pick out our next order. Was worth a special trip for this experience.

Amazing selection of beautiful Iris of every color and size you can imagine. A nice way to spend a day walking through the show gardens and taking photos. Cut flowers or bulbs available for purchase. Kid friendly!

We stopped at Schreiner's on Memorial Day, on our way home, and were delighted that there were food vendors and a tent set up with picnic tables and a wonderful band playing to entertain the throngs of visitors. We split a delicious chicken dinner before walking through the gorgeous display garden, resplendent with every color bloom imaginable. The most memorable plant in the garden was not iris but a fringe tree that was in full bloom (a very rare spectacular tree!). The plentiful iris filled the air with a thick fragrance of summer. We later walked through the vast acres of iris blooming at their peak in the fields on a perfectly sunny day. Memorial Day at Schreiner's is a great place to stop along 1-5, where stalks of iris were also for sale to take a little bit of the garden home with you.

A great place to visit the first part of May; the weekends are always very crowded, so go during the week if you can. Also, photography is better later in the afternoon. You are free to stroll around the formal gardens that they have laid out, but not the fields. Each flower bed is labeled and each variety is identified. You can pick up a catalog for your stroll if you wish; there are plenty of benches to sit on and absorb the garden's beauty. We stop here almost every year. Not to be missed!

The garden is beautiful in May and June. Great place for a picnic lunch and for taking photos. The warehouse has buckets of various varieties of blooms. Most are .75 cents each. Recommend getting stems that have not yet opened for longer vase life. Visit just to check things out but I bet you can't leave without taking a few stems home. Bring a vase for a little water to keep fresh, but they do wrap stems in newspaper and a plastic bag for easy travel

We enjoyed the variety of flowers and the beautiful setting. A very peaceful way to spend a spring afternoon.

I drive by the fields daily and Have observed their horticultural processes for years from transplant to bloom to harvest... They not only have a very clean operation; but also the widest variety of Iris rhizomes available in these United States .. Their yearly Iris Festival at both the farm and the parade in town (Keizer, Oregon) is an educational experience and wonderful destination event ... I would recommend it to every family and/or botanically oriented individual ... Just make sure you time your visit during the Spring Iris Festival...

What else would you need. You can also buy flowers there as well. So good for a nice day trip to stop in and check it out.

We meet a person that was more than happy to give us a tour of the grounds and explain all about the plants, the ireses and the how the gardens operate.

Beautiful Iris's. Never knew there were so very many varieties! Helpful personnel. Easy to grow, split, and grow some MORE!

When the Iris are in bloom this is a great place to visit they have a festival and the gardens are just beautiful, there is food and vendors they have a marathon. If you love to take pictures this is a great place to do it.

Schreiner's Iris Garden spring display is great for all ages - there are many benches throughout this extensive and well planned out garden. In addition to the hundreds of iris blooms, there are water features, poppies, rhodies, just a great walk about. It is definitely a photographers delight - many come early to shoot photos. The earlier you go, the less people in the garden if you like, but even later in the day, it is exquisite. You may also purchase a variety of bulbs, and they have a great catalog. Prices are inexpensive on up. You can walk as far into the garden as you like. You may experience a lot of garden even if you walk a very short way, and there are many benches to sit and take it all in. Artists also show up and paint out in the garden early in the a.m. for the best light. Check their website for their dates and times. It is an 'ooh and ahhhh' kind of place. You think you just saw the most beautiful iris bloom, and then there is the next one!

Five dollars to enter the gardens is better than paying a therapist.
You won't even mind if it's crowded. The flowers will make everything all right.
Go. Wander. Enjoy.

If you get the chance to go there in the spring when the iris are in bloom it is breathtaking. I usually go around mothers day or Easter depending on the weather.

The selection of Iris plants is extensive. Beyond that the grounds and facilities are beautiful. There are also selected other plants. But it is the quality of the Iris plants themselves that is the draw.

We went a week early, most flowers are blooming in week or so, in full swing May 11th,
What we saw was amazing, looking forward to coming back in a week or so, amazing white and pink blooms

This has now become a Mother's Day tradition for my family. There aren't just iris' here, they have a beautiful selection of plants for purchase but also their gardens are stunning around the Mother's Day timeframe. Everything from wisteria to lilac to iris' etc. Worth a visit during their bloom time even if you aren't looking to plant iris'... Enjoy!

If you're a gardener, you will be hard-pressed to resist these beauties. There are rows and rows of irises.

Lovely gardens to walk around in and view all the amazing varieties of Iris, who knew there were so many! There is another building with cut samples as well and you can place an order for bulbs in the fall after looking at the lovely samples. It is easy to buy 10 or 20 new varieties while there.
Very relaxing walking around their grounds. Take paper and pencil with you to write down the ones you admire.

Beautiful gardens. Went at peak blooming time. Never knew there were so many iris's in existence. Some a even fragrant. Well groomed and well layer out. A must see.

We were there the final weekend, and there were still a plethora of beautiful flowers to enjoy! Peaceful, lovely grounds. So happy we found this treasure!

A spectacular display of Iris, you can walk the fields and then enjoy a cold drink while sitting in the breathtaking garden. What a great opportunity to actually see the Iris before making a purchase. I absolutely love Schreiner's and have been ordering from them for years!

This is a small site, but it is well presented. The flowers are presented in beds with sufficient space for people to walk around them - get's a little crowded on weekends this time of year. If you really like flowers best to go during the week when there are less people and you can enjoy some serenity. I especially liked the flowering trees. Also, they have a lovely small pond with two waterfalls - an excellent example of what you can do in any backyard to create the peaceful sound of running water. Definitely a worthwhile visit, especially if you can go during the week and stay longer to enjoy it.

Schreiner's Iris Garden is AMAZING! We were there a little past peak bloom, since the weather was warm a bit early this season, but there were still lots of beautiful Iris to see, along with a lovely assortment of other flowers. So many colors. They have Iris displays, cut Iris for sale, and a gift shop with assorted Iris items. But the highlight are the magnificent gardens. This place is not to be missed if you are in the area when the iris's are in bloom.

I recently moved to the area. In past visits I had always just missed the Iris festival and stopping by Schreiner's Iris Garden. It was a point of interest on my bucket list. I took my mom for Mother's Day and had a wonderful visit. The sample garden is gorgeous. I expected to see a variety of iris, but did not expect to see the amazing display of so many species besides iris. It was amazing. I'm so glad we were able to make it. The highlight was being able to create our own fresh cut iris bouquets.

We took the family to the gardens for Mother's Day. The blooms were almost over for the season, but it was still quite a sight. Be prepared to walk through the acres of display gardens. It is a good use of a couple hours of a Saturday or sunday in the spring.

We love visiting Schreiner's because in the display garden the iris are artfully mingled with other flowers of contrasting colors, making for beautiful pictures anywhere you look. On a warm day, the benches in shady areas provide a nice place to observe and rest before moving on to admire more flower beds. I love the variety of irises and the opportunity to see them in full bloom before possibly ordering some tubers to plant in the fall.

Our arrangements changed and we gained a few hours. We decided to visit a Salem OR Bucket List - Iris Gardens. WOW! Being overwhelmed is usually not a problem for us but this time we did not have enough time. Walking in from the dry parking lot past a tent structure and barns -- suddenly, rows and rows and rows of iris gardens! Every shape and size and color that we could imagine!! Come in May, every year. Cut flowers in hundreds of buckets. Planted bulbs in hundreds of pots. A gift shop. Thank you Schreiner's Iris Gardens for a true floral event. I hope you are around another 100 years!

I love flowers but iris are my favorites. Here we have an incredible variety of colors. There is a large show garden of both iris and other flowers. Around that are acres of iris. It’s almost overwhelming. We go back every spring. And, it’s free!

I ordered iris from them this year! I had a question, called the number they had listed and I talked to a very friendly person. She answered my question and I received my order. Looked like nice healthy plants. I’ll order again .

The Schreiner's Iris Garden is open to the public during blooming season from the middle of May until the middle of June. It is beautiful and an enormous bouquet of irises can be purchased for $6.

The beauty of the display gardens in full bloom is eclipsed by the beauty of the Schreiner family! You must experience both.

when iris are in bloom they have wonderful displays plus a lovely garden area with many other flowers too. A delightful spring treat!

I love visiting the Schreiners' gardens every year. I have never been disappointment. It is a peaceful, colorful, and artistic garden. Love it.

Amazing variety of different kinds and colors of these amazing flowers. I dare you to go and not take some home! :)

We drove here accidentally while in the area and thought we'd died and gone to heaven! The gardens are absolutely the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Wonderful, gorgeous, beautiful, stunning, words cannot explain how marvelous these gardens are!!! Even better: they're free! Everyone should go!

A local friend took us to enjoy this amazing experience. Almost all of the Iris and most of the Clematis were in bloom. Such a peaceful and beautiful space to experience. Wonderful space for photography.

I have been coming for as long as I can remember. The iris' are stunning and a visit always makes for a beautiful day

With the Iris's in full bloom you can choose the ones you want for your yard and order them right on the spot. They will send them to you at the right planting time.
When you bring your class they can see all the different colors, smell the different flower smells.

My wife and I seek to do a road trip adventure at least once a month. I saw our neighbors iris were in bloom, so off we went to see the Mother Load of Irises. We were not disappointed, There were beautiful fields of flowers, much like at the Wooden shoe Tulip Farm, but unlike mass fields of flowers, there were lovely gardens as well, of Iris, mixed with other exotic plants and roses. There were many places to sit and study the flowers up close,or in groups. Each was identified by name and price. There were some very rare ones which were not yet commercially available,so we could only admire them there in the gardens. Once you decide what you want to buy, you go to a barn with hundreds of different varieties of stems in full flower available as samples. You take the stem you want, which is labeled to the sales window and the person will process your order to be shipped in July. It was raining when we were leaving, but it held off for the time we wandered in the beautiful gardens. This is a good afternoon destination for a low impact adventure. Easy to get to and easy to get around in the garden for those who prefer a slower pace of flower oogling.

I had no idea irises could come in so many colors, even black! Just amazing. Must do if here in spring.

We bought tickets online to go and view the iris fields and walk in the special garden area. The tickets have a handling fee which makes the cost of $6.00 + fee per person slightly more than if one pays the $8.00 cost at the door. They have a good parking system, and a beautiful field of all colors of iris flowers to view along with a building that displays and also sells bunches of iris stalks. The outdoor garden area is filled with gorgeous trees, scrubs, and flowers of all kinds and was well worth walking through. They have some food carts that seem to be open more on the weekend, and nearby tables and chairs for relaxing in, but we noticed that an ice cream truck was there yesterday (Thursday) when we visited, and people were enjoying ice cream after their visit to the flower areas. Lots of cars in the lot, but it didn't seem overly crowded at all. We were there around two hours or more, and were able to see so much! If it's rainy, one should have a change of shoes because it could get rather muddy walking in the field areas. It was nice and dry so we could just wear our normal shoes without fear of needing to change. It was an excellent area for some great photography!!

I have wanted to visit this place for the past several years. We finally decided to take a drive and check it out. Oh my, I was in awe marveling over the majestic beauty. The pictures don't do justice compaired to the live up close and personal views. I baught one for myself and one for my daughter. We visited over Memorisl weekend, everything was in full bloom! We will be back again soon!

In looking for some sights to see while celebrating our anniversary in the Salem area, I came across this gem. It was a sunny morning in mid-May and apparently the perfect time to see all the Irises in full bloom. I had really never seen anything but purple and yellow Irises so the vast amount of variety at Schreiner's was a treat. We started in the back gardens and then ventured on the little path of Rhodies, Sweet William and Peonies to the big show gardens and gift shop. We enjoyed every minute and look forward to adding more color to our garden.

What a paradise! being here in May was such a treat! We didn't have this on our radar so finding it was accidental good luck. Unbelievable number of iris' with blooming rhododendrons and azalea. Peaceful lovely gardens to see the plants in their environment. $5 charge per car to get in, but definitely a bargain. Nice little gift shop with plenty of restrooms available. You can bring a picnic and there was one food truck setting up while we were there.

A couple friends and I spent some time at the Iris gardens last year. I had never been and it was just delightful - the colors, the nice cool breezes and the happy laughing people. I plan to do it again this year.

Eye candy for the photographer. The price is right - Free! Just love the solitude - especially in the early morning.

Made a small side trip here on Mother's Day, expecting an iris farm. ACRES and acres of all colors. But the best part was the surprise gardens -- absolutely one of the most beautiful gardens I've ever seen. Lupine, columbine, peonies, iris, clematis in colors you never see elsewhere. And they gave away big bunches of iris to all the moms.

This garden was a very pleasant surprise. For some reason I had expected more of a nursery but this is truly a garden with a wide variety of shrubs and flowering plants which include iris of amazing beauty and color complimented by columbine. There are lots of places to sit and take it all in as well as a few picnic tables. If you are able to steer clear of the gift shop and the plants for sale (which I did not accomplish) your visit is free. Check their website for activities that may be going on.

Easy to access, calming, beautiful gardens. Choose a favorite iris and then buy the start. Always a favorite around Memorial Day.

Walking through the open garden of blooming Iris is a continuous flow of color. It's like walking in a rainbow. The iris are in bloom this time of year and the Iris Garden is aglow in with a great variety of blooms. One can find a color that pleases his desire to have that color in his garden. After viewing the garden one can order the flower he wants. Some of the varieties are quite expensive most are affordable however.

This is a great garden to browse through and enjoy. If you love Irises, it is the perfect garden to see what the different varieties they sell actually look like. Amazed at the vivid colors and plan on purchasing many I had no idea I wanted :)

Everyone is so nice and helpful..They have beautiful gardens to walk through that host lots of other flowers and more colors of irises than you believed on the planet!!

We visited during the May Mother's Day Open House this past Friday. There are fields of flowers, a formal and large garden, and a gift shop and expanded flower stand. All is free except for any plants or flowers you may decide to purchase.
It is a stunning venue. This place would be a wonderful setting for weddings, picnics, or is grand for just strolling and enjoying.
Directions are straight forward, prices clear, and the web site and printed material excellent. There is a coffee shop adjacent to the gardens.
Trust me, you did not know iris are so beautiful.

We spent a mom and daughters day there. My Aunt and her 3 daughters, and my Mom and my two sisters. It was so nice, a great memory maker.

We live relatively nearby and for us this marks the beginning of summervin the nw. All went so well. The weather, the parades, and the many festivities... But the flowers make it all. Have grandkids pics taken every year in the middle of one of the gardens. Every year it just gets better.

Ordering nearly ever year from the early 1970's Schreiner's Iris tubers were ALWAYS the biggest, plumpest and healthiest of any that I EVER received by mail. The results were ALWAYS amazing. After my health declined I had to stop gardening in 2005. I have since traveled to Salem to see Schreiner's incredible gardens. It was the most spectacular display of color and beauty I have ever seen or imagined. Walking the field I became lost in the magic of thousands of blooming Iris. Truly amazing visit that I recommend to any gardener or flower lover. I have visited 4 times in the spring during full bloom

Need something special for ages toddlers to 74 years old? Schreiners Iris Gardens is the perfect place. There are things to delight the eye of every age: iris of course but wait- there's more- peons, huge poppies, beautiful trees, etc. You can do a sedate walk or run backwards; paint or ponder. All in this fragrant, delightful garden in the heart of the Willamete Valley.

Seeing them up close was a treat since I see them at a distance from I-5 on my daily commute. I had looked up on line and was prepared to give an nominal entry fee however no-one was there to collect the money. It was busy with other visitors so it was hard to get a photo of the whole garden without people in it. Amazing photos - had no idea that iris came in so many varieties. I walked the whole garden and had a great time taking pictures of all the beautiful flowers - guess you could say I had a bloomin good time!

A wonderful place to wander through - Schreiner's Iris's are beautiful - but there is so much more to see. Their gardens are filled with lupins and poppies and beautiful trees. It's a great place to go for a picnic while you decide which of the hundreds of flowers would look best in your own garden.

Stunning gardens! Nice treats and good food for a Family day out. Totaly worth the drive. Drive slowly in the parking area.

Large wonderfully laid out garden primarily to display many tagged Iris varieties, many available for sale in the warehouse. The fields surround the Garden and Sales area.
There are plenty of porta potties, well maintained.
We use the Picnic tables when we go. There is some snack food for sale but we bring our Picnic in.
Ample parking.

This place is so nice and serene. The flowers are of course beautiful. Bring a nice lunch and sit at their picnic tables and just enjoy the farm of Iris's and other flowers.
Simply said, a lovely place to enjoy....stop and smell the flowers.

Many years ago we visited their beautiful gardens and began buying their rhizomes for a small field grown nursery. They sent the best quality rhizomes of any other supplier that we tried. And it's a family operation that are very helpful with questions. We are from VA but always ordered from them. Both retail and wholesale availability

This retail iris dealer's garden is open to the public only during the month of May
Memorial Day weekend is particularly awesome with food and entertainment in addition to the view gardens.
Artists and photographers take advantage of this time of year to do their work

I order my iris from Schreiner's each year. They have always arrived in good condition and have flourished in my yard. The double blooming have actually bloomed again in September/October, something that has never happened with purchases from other sources. Highly recommend them.

On I-5 corridor you can see the Iris in bloom. It's well worth the visit. So many beautiful blossoms which can be chosen for purchase. This company has been in business for decades!

Incredible display of Iris flowers and other blooming flowers, shrubs and bushes. Hard to believe this is free, free, free! Easy to find off of I-5, good parking and flat walking pathways among the beautifully colored displays. Has gift shop and easy order catalog for planting in your garden. Sometimes food is available. Your will not find a better flower garden anywhere!

Shreiners’ Iris Garden is THE source to which iris hybridizer’s turn when looking for irises to purchase. Its rhizomes are 100% guaranteed to be true in identity and health. Buyers always get what they pay for!
In July 2015 I ordered eleven rhizomes which were delivered Priority Mail in August, packed in “straw” and accompanied by three free ones with an invoice as well as a free catalog and booklet on how to cultivate iris included. Schreiners' service and communication has been excellent over the past twenty-five years that I have been ordering from them; not once have I had any problem.

The flowers are beautiful and everything is well maintained. It is a leisurely stroll through gardens with a few picnic tables. Of course you can also buy a few to take home or view the different varieties of iris's showroom. What a treat to be surrounded with this much beauty.

We were here the first week of May, just before their festival opened, so not very crowded. The sights and smells of the flowers are amazing. More than just iris in their display gardens. Truly a beautiful setting. Also impressive are the rows of iris in the acres around the property. Fields of iris are something I've never seen. In addition to being able to order iris for future planting, they had fresh cut stems for only $.75 each or 1 dozen for $7.50! If we hadn't been flying out the next day, we would have purchased a couple dozen. Highly recommend.

All photographers whether amaeturs or professional will love this spot. You must visit the show garden. There are hundreds of diffferent kinds of irises. Irises only bloom in May. It can be very busy on the weekend. It's better to go during the week.

As my wife is a gardener, we make sure to visit the best gardens any area we are visiting has to offer. Schreiner's Iris Gardens easily fell into this category. While a little out of the way outside of Salem, this FREE garden is a must, even if you are not an Iris fan or gardener. Surrounded by fields of flowers, their display garden has row after row of beautiful flowers artfully displayed. My wife said that she enjoyed it as much as our visit to Monet's garden in France!
While intended to display the bulbs in a natural setting, the combinations of colorful Irises, Lupines, Columbines, Peonies and other beautiful flowers planted together was breathtakingly beautiful. Take their shopping list with you and select some bulbs to be shipped to your home as you walk a long with other enthusiasts and casual visitors.
A dog friendly place, it makes it easy to bring a long your furry family members. Yes Luna, I am talking about you. Allow yourself plenty of time to amble with a cup of coffee or tea among the flowers and the happy bees oblivious to your presence.
After you have taken all of your pictures and written down any potential purchases, go inside and get some free advice, and try not to bring home a bundle of cut flowers.
Arrive early while the sun is still low for the best pictures and to avoid the potential heat of midday.

Such a great place to admire an amazing garden of Iris and other Spring flowers. The cut Iris are for sale at a very reasonable price. I can't quit ordering more plants. The variety of colors and species is unbelievable. It's a must see every Spring.

Very calming and beautiful. You can bring a picnic and relax on a lovely day. Wonderful photo opportunities. Very nice place for solo or family and friends. The flowers are remarkable and the plantings are great.

We caught the gardens at the end of May, which evidently is the end of bloom season. This year may have been a little late due to the rainy season lasting forever because the gardens were in full, spectacular bloom!
The iris are abundant and paired with slender columbine, peony, roses and many other perennials. It was a heavenly sight. I even think my husband and 7 year old son enjoyed the trip.
The gardens are free to tour, and there is a lovely gift shop and nursery to peruse.
A highlight of the Salem area for sure.

At last we went here at the perfect time. 100's of acres of the most beautiful irises. The smells were hypnotic. We actually drove by by accident and then just stopped in to get a closer look. My husband is rather cold about our irises, but these were too beautiful.

This is another photographers heaven. The last two weeks in May is the best time to visit. They have many functions here, not to mention the beautiful gardens. It's located 33 miles south of Portland. Take exit 263 on I-5. Go to their web site for more info: http://www.schreinersgardens.com/bloom.shtml.

This is a gorgeous garden that I visit every year. It's peaceful, even with lots of other visitors around, and I always enjoy browsing in the store too. The brightly painted benches are the perfect setting for family and kid photos. My favorite kid pic was taken here!

This is a beautiful garden with a lot of different varieties of irises mixed with other flowers, benches to sit on, a small shop to buy artwork, and a larger shop to order iris bulbs. This is a very tranquil setting.

We stopped at the gardens on a Saturday on our way to WA. The gardens were easy to find. I absolutely love iris so my review will be biased. There were fields and fields of iris. Amazing! Beautiful! There was a small gift shop with iris related merchandise for sale. You can also order iris rhizomes and/or purchase cut iris there. There was a food truck with beverages and food for purchase. For me and for anyone who loves iris or just gorgeous flowers this is worth the stop. Plenty of photo opps! There wasn't a fee to walk through the fields and provided a much needed break from a long car ride. There were restrooms. Would recommend.

this is a very beautiful and fun place to go if you love irises the iris farm is the best place to go to get all kinds of information on growing and the different types its a iris explosion!!!!!!!!!!

Strolling the iris gardens at Schreiner's captivates one's imagination through the sheer variety and colour of the iris. Because of the many offerings, it is a challenge to choose favourites for purchase. My friend did this for me and because I love her choices, I was able to reorder another batch just by calling the office. They had a record of what she had purchased, so it was easy to add more. Wonderful customer service! And my is garden flourishes.

Be there early in the morning as it get crowded as the day goes. A photographers paradise when it comes to color, light and textures... one iris after the other of pure beauty. Benches are placed around the display garden so you can rest for a while and just let your eyes wander across the garden when your legs get tired :-)

I have been ordering these irises for about 5 years now and they are high quality and are quality rhizomes. I have tried other companies and have always been disappointed.

My Husband and I really enjoy going to Schreiner's Iris gardens every May. It's my birthday treat. I love flowers and especially beautiful gardens filled with Iris, Peonies,
and so much more.

I have loved bearded irises for many years and always wanted to visit Schreiner's to see all of their spectacular irises in person. A friend and I from Canada finally made the trip this spring and it was a lot of fun to see the huge variety of irises available. We are from Vancouver Island and have experienced one of the longest and coldest winters ever, but so has most of the pacific northwest, including Oregon! It's such a shame that we cannot bring any plants back to Canada with us, but it was well worth the trip to see all of the irises and the garden.

You will never see so many beautiful flowers at once as when this garden is at full bloom. Besides thousands of iris, poppies a foot across, gorgeous lupines -- your eyes are just overwhelmed. I just wandered in the rain, taking photos and staring.

I was lucky to stop by on a blue sky and white cloud day. The gardens were beyond lovely, featuring hundreds of varieties of Iris, Lupine, Climatus, Rhododendrons, and Columbines. Loved the way every plant was tagged and named - as if someone really cared about them - and the visitors. The Schreiner Bears captured my heart.

If you are in Salem in late May, this place is simply amazing. Their iris display gardens are amazing. Great for young and old alike. You will see why they call iris the rainbow flower. Their gardens are immaculate and have many other plants to see. Plenty of places to sit and relax. They have a food cart so you can enjoy a snack or lunch. They sell irises by the stem too. They make wonderful bouquets.

This farm is a delight to visit . Beautiful gardens with thousands of flowers in bloom . Great for photographers. Right by highway 5 , with lots of parking . Food and drinks are available , as well as bathrooms . Gift shop . Large indoor display area showing hundreds of named cut flower bearded iris in vases . This is a wholesale and retail farm . They sell online .hundreds of Fresh Cut stems of budded iris available as cut flowers to take home . $10 / dozen . I highly recommend this farm . Peony and hosta farms nearby also .

Friends and I meet at Schreiner's Iris Gardens for Mother's Day (second year). We grab a picnic table (or 2) and have a potluck, and spend as much or little time as we wish wandering around the paths of flowers. I would like to suggest that for the number of people visiting (lots!), and at $5.00 a car "admission", they could afford a few more picnic tables? There were lots of people wandering around and at times hovering & hoping someone would give theirs up... There is room for more! The gift shop & cut flower area is nice, but spendy? It's a nice destination to cover Mother's Day with friends, but I wouldn't probably visit otherwise...

On a warm sunny day in may we visited the garden and I was.astounded at the acres of beautiful irises. We walked through what I call the sample garden. There are so many different species of this flower and most of the names really described the color and design of the flower. Some of the names were funny, some were elegant, but most of all, every one of them was beautiful and so many different colors. We spent about 2 hours going through the garden, then we stopped at the food truck for some delicious brats.

We visited a couple of weeks ago when the irises were in full bloom. The only thing I can say is WOW! So many varieties and colors to look at. We dressed up in our Sunday best and took some really great family pictures. If you are in the area and you love amazing beauty, the gardens are a must see!

Nice selection of good value with very good packing...shipping could be faster....would recommend seller

Visiting here is something I have been wanting to do for a very long time. We were early and there were several photographers there taking what looked like professional photos. Coming from a place where the snow has just melted it was wonderful to see all the color. Some of the combinations were absolutely gorgeous. The gift shop was not open yet so we were not able to wander around in there, but we could order our choice of Iris.

I absolutely love visiting the Schreiner's Iris Garden each year. They have large garden areas that have many varieties of flowers. It is a fantastic place to photos of flowers, especially if you go in the late afternoon with the sunlight is stunning. Be sure to walk beyond the main garden to the other large garden. There is also a lovely gift shop and a place where you can buy all of the various bulbs to take home and plant in your own garden.
I especially appreciate how all of the flowers are labeled, so you can easily know which bulbs to buy should you wish to take some home.
There are plenty of lovely places to sit and relax and view the flowers. It is a nice place to take a picnic as well. There are picnic tables, etc.

Went to school withe the Schreiners. My sisters worked in the gardens in the summmer. Always gorgeous flowers.

Even though Oregon is always known for the "rain", visting this Iris gardens are worth every effort to get there and view, look at in awe the rows and rows of Iris.

my two daughters and I visited the gardens this last summer. We love beautiful things, flowers included. We aren't to much into the growing side of flowers but we did enjoy ourselves at the gardens for about an hour.
What's not to love about the country with the huge amount of variety of flowers that are grown there?
Entrance is free and you can actually purchase the flowers if you want for yourself as well.
There are gifts, beverages and some food offered to the public, little expensive I thought though.
Schreiner's is pretty easy access of the freeway

The gardens are quite beautiful when the irises are blooming. Their feilds are spectacular. It is worth hopping off I-5 to pay a visit.i

If you are traveling I-5, you'll pass the acres of iris's blooming in the month of May at Schreiner's Iris Garden located just north of Salem, OR in Keizer. Take a quick detour from your travels and visit the display gardens - So beautiful and free - no admission! The bloom season is short so visit before May 31st.
We went May 14th, and everything was in bloom. The 5 acres show off a stunning array of iris's, as well as peony, roses, poppies, lupine, larkspur, allium, and beautiful tree varieties.
The grounds are grassy, flat and wide between the display beds. There are many benches to lounge and enjoy the gardens in the sun or the shade.
I noticed picnic tables, next time we'll bring a picnic lunch, but they have a small stand that sells food.
Educate yourself on the history and varieties. The variety names are nearly as colorful as the different varieties! They are full of information and very knowledgable.
They have a sweet little gift shop and an outdoor room full of cut iris. Only $7.50 per dozen! Mine are still fresh with buds opening two weeks later. Best of all is the amazing fragrance! Imagine fresh grapefruit - so refreshing!
You can order iris rhizomes there or take a mini catalog and order later.
The gardens were such a delightful surprise, I highly recommend.

For anyone wanting some rest, relaxation and repose this is a great place to go! Walking among the flower gardens is extremely enjoyable and refreshing! Your mood will be uplifted being among the beautiful blooms!
There are more than just iris in the garden. It was very interesting to observe the complimentary plantings. Iris are available for purchase also. The displays are world class.

This garden just outside Salem/Keizer has an awesome display of Iris. There are many beautiful varieties and it reminded me of the big Iris bed my mom had when I was a kid. These are Iris on steroids, with many recently developed favorites, and I ordered bulbs for my favorites including the varieties Grand Canyon Sunset and Kahuna! Can't wait to plant them in my garden. Get their catalog when you visit!

The flowers are so Beautiful and the lay out of the gardens is marvelous ,it's handicap accessible unlike the wooden shoe tulip fields are not handicap accessible . But you have to see the flowers are so pretty and during season they have food booths and a picnic area at no cost

This is a great spring day trip for every age. The Iris are like orchids in a wide range of colors.Easy walking and wheelchair accessible.

Leisurely stroll through seemingly countless color combinations. Plan your next spring (fall) planting! Beautiful!

what a beautiful place to take family and stroll through the iris. Not to mention a beautiful place to take pictures! You get amazing pictures there!

We get a group together and go every year! Besides the irises, they have other flowers and varieties interspersed in the gardens. Peonies are another favorite and I have never seen such lupines. There are also breathtaking bushes and trees.
Once you walk through the gardens, there is a big enclosed area where you can decide on what irises you must have and make your purchase.

Beautiful gardens with so many varieties of irises. We spent a couple of hours strolling through the gardens taking pictures. We also bought a gorgeous hanging fuchsia in the building and a large bouquet of irises.

This place is beautiful! Not only are there hundreds of colors of Iris but also the peonies were gorgeous. Great place for pictures.

We visited this little gem with my parents several years ago while the iris's were at their best. WOW!! What a great little garden, and more. Lots more flowers to see there than just iris's. Really would like to go back and spend more time exploring their gardens, as well as their store.

A friend from Portland took us here. We are visiting Portland and told us about this garden. We went today and had a great time walking the gardens. I took over 100 photos. This is well worth the time to come. They sell cut flowers and wish I could have taken an arm load with us.

Friends recommended that we visit. I am so glad that they did.
We were at the end of the blooming time - although there were so many beautiful flowers that it sure didn't seem like the end to me. I never knew there were so many varieties of Iris. Amazing.

My wife and I were out for a Sunday drive and happened upon this place. What a lucky find. Such a beautiful well maintained garden. Highly recommended during Iris season. They currently require you to purchase your tickets Online due to Covid. This place has an abundance of different types of Iris's. Lupines, peonies and a cool variety of blooming trees. A must see when you're near Keizer Oregon

What a fun place to visit in the springtime when the irises are in full bloom! Who knew there were so many different varieties, colors, and configuations? We try to go every year.

when the irises are in bloom, take a basket and a bottle and enjoy a picnic in eden.

When I lived in MD a friend ordered some Iris to be delivered to my house. I loved the flowers so much that when I moved to OR, I dug them up and brought them along--not knowing that I had moved to the very town of their birth! Every May/June I make sure not to miss the 250 acre sight of irises blooming along I-5, and visit the Schreiner's Iris Gardens to catch my breath at their wonderful displays. BTW, my plants are re-bloomers and come up again the fall. Many passers-by comment on my flowers and I always recommend that they visit Schreiner's in Keizer!

Absolutely my favorite gardens. Much more than a field of flowers. These are very artistic gardens with spectacular flowers.

Our friends got married there. We go often to stroll the gardens and buy Irises. It is a delicious summer experience.

If you are in the area of Salem, OR during mid-May to June, you must not miss the Schreiner's Iris Gardens. If you hate flowers, you will love it here. Trust me. Even Ebeneezer Scrooge would would enjoy his visit. Oh the colors!
It's free and I noticed that everyone from the really young (who could barely walk) and the very old (who could barely walk) wander the aisles between the flowers with smiles on their faces.
During bloom season the gardens have a special calendar of events for the weekends so on the Saturday we visited there was food and coffee available for sale, wine tastings and craft/artists booths. Check your calendars. They also provide tables and benches if you want to bring your own picnic.
We also ended up buying irises and received two free bonus plants for placing our order in person instead of online.
Go early or later in the day, gets very crowded during the mid-day especially on a weekend.

This family owned business is amazing. The gardens are beautiful and we can't wait to see all of them in bloom next spring.

The iris are gorgeous!! And it is free!! We go every year and often take a picnic lunch. The bulbs we bought at Schreiner's have grown great and the flowers are lovely. Neighbors comment on how pretty the flowers are.

Schreiner's gardens are abundent with color in the spring and summer. This is a great place for a stroll around, spending a lazy hour enjoying the blooms. They are also a good place, during Iris blooming, to pick up a dozen stems to decorate your house.

Great old farm to spend an afternoon walking through their gardens and enjoying the gift/flower shop.

It is well worth the visit to walk through the display garden with hundreds of beautiful iris and other flowers in a beautiful setting. It is fun to see the artists painting scenes of the garden. Went with 2 and 6 year old granddaughters who also enjoyed walking through the garden and picking out the colors of a bouquet to take home. As Schreiner's is only open doing the bloom it is not to be missed. The 200 acres of production garden are amazing as a sea of color.

Schreiner's Iris Garden is more than just rows of iris plants one imagines will be there - it's a large, mixed garden that is beautiful. Lots of happy strollers taking it all in, and there is a food booth and nice garden store. A great way to spend an afternoon.

A riot of color provided by expansive display beds of irises and companion plants, shrubs and trees. Take a picnic lunch, enjoy the beauty and buy some new irises.

Very beautiful gardens. The owners and employees are extremely nice and friendly people. Go see the gardens on Memorial Day weekend. Great food, music and flowers.

You might spot the brief flash of colors as you zoom by on I-5, but the sheer size of the place overwhelms you when you actually pull off the highway and into their parking lot. The fields are laid out by variants, and hence by color. The garden is a collection of a huge variety of irises, some with colors you can only imagine. The fields are massive in comparison, with each variety planted in huge plots. It is a checkerboard of color, in irises!! Definitely worth a visit.

We were taking a quick road trip to Salem, and we heard that this would be a good time to visit Schreiner's. Sure enough, there were lots of beautiful flowers to see, smell and purchase. Our whole family had a lovely afternoon.

Of course, it has to be the right time of year - late spring....but if you like flowers and are traveling I5 between Salem and Portland, OR it is worth a stop! Not just Iris in the Gardens but preniuals that go with - giant lupine, clematis, delphinium, rodies, and other blooming trees. The gardens are larger than the last time I visited several years ago. It was a riot of color - wanted to have a book, glass of wine and take a chair and to stay awhile. Can buy cut iris and place orders for Iris rhizomes. They have been shipping rhizomes for almost 90 years! Congratulations to an Oregon icon. You could smell the perfume of the iris all around the garden.
The flowers are beautiful.
I go to the iris festival every year because the flowers that are sold for bouquets are very affordable and beautiful. I would recommend going to the festival early to buy the irises because they haven't had a chance to bloom and they will live longer in a vase (single iris stems). They also sell ready to plant irisis.
I also enjoy walking through the garden and reading all the names of the irises, the colors range from black purple to white! Such a cute place, it reminds me of the secret garden.
