2 of 33 Fun & Games in Shreveport

I've been to a lot of museums and this one was just ok. They did have a nice section where you could touch some of the small animals there. The museum was pretty empty when i went, but then it was a Tuesday morning.

Take kids there a lot. There are lots of hands on projects an kids are encouraged to explore. From space to pulleys to water projects.

Very nice exhibits for the whole family. Unique things to stimulate the mind from young to old. Centrally located.in downtown Shreveport. two hotels are close if you are staying there. Eldoado and Sam's Town are within easy walking distance.

Overall our kids (10yr 7 & 4) had a really good time. We purchased a pass a while ago that paid for a number of different science museums so they've seen similar places. The activity areas were great and the movie and staff were knowledgeable and fun. Even though we didn't pay for it I'd say it's worth.

Great place for kids, they have a ton of activities and demonstrations that the kids loved. I liked this better than the Perot museum in Dallas when it comes to what they had available here for younger children.

This is a great place to take your kids. Not overly priced for the entertainment that you receive. We even bought the family annual package and was worth every dime.

I came to the museum with my daughter and grandson on Sunday when it opened at noon. It was the first day of shark week. They were studying the anatomy of sharks. I could have done without the dissection of a real shark in order to teach the kids about sharks. In this day and age, you can teach by virtual reality and not have to kill an animal to teach about anatomy. But that was my one and only issue with the entire experience. This is one amazing place for children. There is a wonderful employee there named Marissa who knew a lot about snakes and sharks and put on a fun show called "shocking science". My grandson ran around there for 5 solid hours. We saw an I Max show called "Under the Sea" and they had two other movie options for the same day. A great value for the money. It cost about $49.00 for the three of us to spend the entire day at the museum and to see the movie. If you have a child that enjoys learning about the planets or the human body, or sea life, then this is the place to spend your time. Some of the exhibits were not working as they should, but this is because they have so many visitors and is to be expected. The planetarium is fantastic and runs all day. You don't have to wait for "show times." Highly recommended when visiting Shreveport with children.

We used to go to sci port often. Had yearly passes and loved it. But this place is definitely getting run down. A lot of the activities are broken. Doesn't seem to be maintained very well. This place is ok if you are looking for a place to spend an afternoon, but make sure they are open. If you can go to one of the bossier parish libraries, they have a pass you can "check out".

We are members of the Association of Science and Tech Centers so we visit many science museums through out the country. This one has potential, but is not quite there yet. The exhibits look dated and the main museum floor has a very poor flow. It is an okay place to burn a few hours with your kids when you are in Shreveport, but it's not a destination stop.

This is a must see for a family with children. There is so much to see and touch. The kids will learn science while enjoying there selves. They also have Alligators, the front of a steam boat and other amphibians.

my 5 yr old grandson loved everything about our trip. from the planetarium to the hands on learning experience. he did not know it was educational. we could have stayed all day, next time i will definitely plan on being there longer and we were there 3 hours. well worth the money.

We have 11 grandchildren and all but 2 who live away from Shreveport have visited numerous times. The exhibits are most educational. The only criticism would be that the offerings there don't change often enough to have repeat visits. I do highly recommend for children under age 14. We dropped our family membership as we now only have 2 children under age 14 and both have been several times.

We came here on a rainy Saturday, and it was insanely crowded! I probably would have liked it better if it had been quieter and we could have been more leisurely as we explored instead of being by each display because people were waiting behind us.
There was a ton to do and see, and I'd like to come back sometime. A lot of the displays and stations were broken, or missing pieces, or out of order. Many more just didn't have explanations so we weren't sure what they were or why there were there. I don't know if this was because of the heavy traffic that day, or if they are always like that. But I'd like to come on a day when I could walk around without so many people breathing down my neck, and without feeling like I was at Lego Land rather than a science center. It was aimed at kids, but so overwhelming that I don't think they could do much learning in that environment.

This was our second trip to this museum. We have to come to Shreveport periodically for doctor visits for one of our children. The kids all really seemed to enjoy it. There was something for all.

Sci-port is currently closed and will be taken over by a new for-profit management company. It is unknown what the final product will be when it reopens.

I took my grandson here for my nephew's birthday. He had a blast. There are tons to see and do. They make learning a lot of fun.

Great for kids with lots of hands-on activities. LEGO exhibit is really nice but planetarium is ok. Friendly staff

From the time they have opened until now, my children have thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits and science and play theme.

We brought our grandchildren ages 5 years, 6 years, and 15 years to Sci-port and all three had a great time. There were enough activities for the two younger children to keep them interested for hours and enough activities for older children to keep the 15 year old entertained as well.

So we have a membership with another museum so we got in for free. We had to pay $5 for the snow section which was sort of ok. It's pretty basic but the kids had fun. The best part is upstairs with the kids play section. The attendant was very kind and helpful and the kids were in heaven. This section was VERY well done and my kids could have easily spent a couple of hours there. The other section about space I found was super boring but the kids enjoyed the paper airplane thing. Looks like there's a new section being built which my kids were excited to see.

Beautiful center. Quite appropriate for function. Proximity to other landmarks and areas for entertainment was a plus.

There are just not many things to do in Shreveport with children, so this is the perfect place to go. We've been a few times but it is always interesting and I think they do an excellent job of maintaining their exhibits. Almost everything was clean and in working order (a huge contrast to the children's museums of south louisiana). We were able to catch a cute Imax movie with Sesame Street and it was very enjoyable. The prices aren't super high, you can get a combination movie/admission ticket and we spent quite a few hours playing with all of the exhibits. The favorites include the bed of nails, paper airplane flying area and the children's play area. There is enough there to keep adults entertained as well.

Good downtown place to visit and check out what cool kid-like things there are to check out. They also have a IMAX.

We take grand kids and those acting like kids to Sci-Port when we need at least 4 hours of entertainment. The kids get really into the hands-on exhibits. It is a fantastic learning experience.

Awesome place for kids. So much knowledge. A lot of interactive stuff for the kids. Reasonably prices. Located pretty much downtown. This place does parties and such also.

Fairly good museum for the price. The kids enjoyed it. Their favorite part was the electricity show with Alex.

This place is AMAZING!!! There is so much to do for the whole family. From the littlest one to the Most-Mature one. There are so many hands on exhibits that you can literally spend HOURS and STILL not get to do everything. Guaranteed good time. A little pricey, but I promise you won't mind!

This is a wonderful place to bring children. I loved how interactive the exhibits are. I learned a lot when I just walked in the front door. My favorite part was the riverboat. Kids get to learn how it functions, and it has a working whistle. The IMAX Theater has the biggest screen of all of them in the world. This place is just awesome.

My children and I really liked this museum. And the staff was nice and it was very clean.
Some exhibts were down, but that's with all museums.

Since it was too cold and cannot do much outside we searched for places to go with kids and found out about the Sci Port Discovery Center and went with two toddlers, they enjoyed it. It’s a great place to explore. There’s an area in upstairs specially for kids. Staff is very friendly. Admission fee is $12. Glad we found this place. Will go there again.

Driving from New Orleans to Tulsa and used Shreveport as a pit stop. With our three year old locked up all day, this was the PERFECT stop. He burned off a thousand calories in a two hour timeframe. Take your kids here. Everything is fun and teaches them something.

The Sci-Port provides a number of activities for families. Great for children 10 and under. Provides many hands on activities to learn. Favorite part is the IMAX theater.

My girls LOVE this place. After about the 12th time it does become a bit mundane for me, but they would go every week if I would take them. Plenty of hands on exhibits and very friendly staff.

It was such a great experience for our teen and toddler. Everyone was attentive and engaging. Loved that it was very hands on for the kiddos.

My grandsons LOVE this place. Hands on learning techniques for all ages to enjoy! Time definitely gets away from you while exploring at Sci-Port.

My children ages 5, 4, and 1 had so much fun. Their favorite activity was the area for children 7 and under. They learned about their bones in one area and then made paper airplanes in another. It was great fun for all of us!

After visiting another destination in Shreveport that I felt was not worth what I paid, this was a refreshing change of pace. If you are in Shreveport with children or just looking for something in addition to gambling this is a neat place to explore. It has alot to offer for a good price. IMAX shows, planetarium (which we did not actually have time to see a show), a young kids zone with many different interactive stations, and a ton of hands on experiences. You will want to alott at the very least 2 hours to explore this center, maybe more like 3-4 hours especially with children.

Very much enjoyed the visit!! So many activities that were entertaining and educational. Loved the astronomy presentations. Could have spent much longer than the two hours we were there.

One of the best attractions in Shreveport. Hands-on learning and demonstrations for kids of all ages!

A few exhibits where broken, but there are a lot of hands on things to do. Be prepared to have hours of fun.

Some very interesting exhibits our grandchildren really enjoyed however some exhibits not working and a large number may have been working but without anyone there to explain or explanations at the exhibit no telling what they were supposed to learn. I wouldn't advise spending the time or money to go.

Not a good place to visit if you don't have kids. A lot of the attractions didn't work. I thought it was a waste of time and money.

SciPort is such a treasure. It is fabulous for children for of all ages. I have 5 grandchildren and the first thing they ask when they visit is "When can we go to Sci-Port?" They have all been going since they were as young as two.

My boyfriend and I took a spontaneous road trip to Shreveport (from Dallas) without much planning. It was my first time and to be honest I was not that impressed with what Shreveport had to offer. Tons of business spaces, no businesses. I could only wonder what happened to this once, seemingly bustling, city. Out of the two days we spent there, I can honestly say the most fun we had was at the Sci-Port. Yes it's mostly geared towards kids, but we're in our 20's and had a blast. It is mostly hands-on which I feel is lacking from a lot of newer museums. I can't say we learned much more than we already knew, but at $13 and a few hours of entertainment it was totally worth it. Yes one of the staff persons said "nucleuses" during a demonstration (as opposed to "nuclei"), yes it kind of smelled like mold, yes I probably would have gotten terribly ill if I had a compromised immune system (the place has probably never been disinfected), but we really did enjoy ourselves. The best part was their little planetarium; unlike his colleague, this guy was very educated and was very informative and passionate about the subject.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon with my children. Parking is convenient and easy. The IMAX dome theater is the highlight here.
I would estimate 30% or more of exhibits were out of order. Old and worn with the exception of POP, which had non-functioning areas also.
The men's restroom downstairs had a few out of order signs too. And so did one of the two drinking fountains. The other drinking fountain barely functioned forcing you to spend $2.25 for a bottle of water to avoid your child putting lips on the drinking fountain.
It is depressing to think this is one of the better things to do with children in this city. I'm embarrassed for the city of Shreveport when tourists bring children here.
Don't think I'll be back.

It was raining so we decided to go to Sciport. The kids had a blast. Be sure they wear something comfortable and not new. It's not dirty mind you but they will get messy. Very educational and fun.

Highly recommend. If you go, plan to stay awhile. The children will not be ready to go when you are. Lots of activities. When I went this year on a field trip with my grandsons school, we watched a brain dissection. Very cool. He compared the sheep brain to the human brain. Glad I watched.

Completely interactive and engaging for my son. Advanced mathematical concepts were taught using hands on activities that elementary kids could understand. My son even got to see a shark dissection and tough the shark and its parts. Ewww for me but he talked about what he learned for hours after.

Great place to let kids (of all ages) explore for several hours. Love the hands on activities and open spaces. Plus, always love going to the IMax theater.

The Sci-Port has exhibits you simply do not see everyday---from a special section on the planets of our solar system (I was surprised to learn that Saturn has 46 known moons) to interesting displays about magnetism and pendulums.
You can also learn about aerodynamics, electricity and satellites and how they photograph the earth. There are many hands-on exhibits that will interest both adults and children. And, of course, if you have time there is also the I-Max theater.
All in all, this is a pleasant and entertaining way to spend two to four hours of your time.

This has always been one of my Child's Favorite Places. She is 17 now and we don't go as often but was always well worth the family Membership!

Our entire family had a wonderful time and could have spent multiple days here. If we lived nearby we would be year long pass holders.
My husband and I both found many things to do and enjoy as well as learn things we didn't know. The children were mesmerized by the ways in which science affects each piece of life.
The IMAX was fun for all as well. Anytime we come through the area we will be back!!!

The exhibitionsame that come to visit are nice but everyday facilities can use updating and remodeling

I took my two nieces they are 8 and 11 they spent 5 hours there. Had a great time!! They enjoyed all the different gadgets. However the IMAX film was not worth the money.

This hands on exhibits is great for kids and adults, alike. Children of all ages will be fascinated with the exhibits and educational activities. IMAX Theater also is available. Great family outing.

Must come to this place, really neat stuff, fun for the whole family. Worth every penny! Very educational, see things you would never expect. Lots of science, things about the universe, and so on. Must see!

As a medical professional and lover of all things scientific I am a big supporter of Sci-Port. I enjoy visiting with my young granddaughters and watching the amazement of learning how things work. The IMAX movies are very popular with all ages in our family. We have even been known to visit without the kids.

We used to take school groups there. They always did an amazing job in their demonstrations. There was always something new. The kids had a great time and so did we.

Lots of hands on discovery here. The IMAX theater is a unique experience. It's kind of chaotic because all of the kids are running from exhibit to exhibit in their excitement. It was hard to keep mine in check amid all of it to be honest but we really enjoyed it and look forward to going back.

We took the kids to Sciport for the day and it did not disappoint what a wonderful way to spend a couple hours and very cost-effective you can even get a membership I think for less than $130 a year for a family of five or just pay as you go they have a new pops museum which means power of play it specializes in activities for children eight and under but my 10-year-old had a blast I've included a couple pictures from our trip. This is definitely worth your time and money a great activity that the Shreveport area has for families that live here and are visiting

This is an amazing attraction for families. It's a 'hands on' science venue. The faces of children exploring our incredible world is priceless. The entrance fee is minimal, and it's huge. I took my son and his family while I was there on vacation. We spent over 3 hours just looking at everything and interacting with several displays or computer programs. It's really fascinating and young children love it.

If you love dinosaurs, this is the place for you this month with the Jurassic Park exhibit. We always enjoy our experiences at SciPort from their partnerships with LearningRx in brain awareness month to their creative arts! Great place for all ages!

I think one of the best ways to tell how good a place really is, is how they react to a bad situation. While, being 100% honest, we didn't go to the Sci-Port building itself, but we did see their traveling exhibits. The reason was simple, the roads and parking lots around the Sci-Port were flooded by the Red River, so getting to the Sci-Port itself was impossible. However, I feel that they deserve a good review because of how they made the best out of a bad situation. Rather then throw up their hands and say "Were Closed", they moved what they could offset (a local mall) and still set up shop. They also kept their summer classes open (which people paid for) at another location. Had they closed, people would have lost time and money trying to figure out how change where their kids were. Personally, what exhibits and shows we did see where really fun and enjoyable. While we only spent and hour and a half (before we did everything there), we still had a good time. I look forward to seeing the Sci-Port building itself next time we are in Shreveport.

My wife and I take the children here as often as possible. It is a great learning experience for them and many of the exhibits change throughout the year, offering new things for the kids. There is also a restaurant in the facility so you won't have to leave for lunch.

My 4 year old daughter had so much fun visiting Sci-Port with her Dad. She told me all about the interactive exhibits and games. She's already asking to go again!

We went here yesterday and had a great time. We spent almost 3 hours here and my daughter had a blast. Lots of cool displays and fun things to do, exhibits and shows. Some things were broken, however. And there were ants on the wall of the oil drill that I stuck my hand in, that wasn't cool. We don't live in the area and won't be going back, but I can see why locals would!

You could spend three hours at this place but you wouldn't want to. The kids had fun, but I you ask me was it a deal/worth it $60 plus dollars for just the Sci-Port not the Imax included. I would have to say no. Younger than 13 years of age would enjoy more.

It was an amazing place to take the kids even educational for my wife n I. We enjoyed it the whole way around. My son wanted to go back the next day after we left due to them closing for the day that afternoon.

This place is a creative persons best friend it has everything to stimulate everyone young and old hands on is amazing

Your kids have so many different choices to make about what to do first or next. This place will keep them going for however long you are willing to stay. Just sit back and watch them laugh and have a blast playing with other kids or just themselves.

We enjoyed our visit. They have an awesome area upstairs for kids under 8 that has a mini bank, grocery store, vet and ext.for little ones to play. It was the best part. The actual science museum was "just okay."

The facility was closed for remodeling. It seemed from what we read about the facility it would have been a great deal. They did have a sign on the door about a new exhibit opening in October 2016.

Sci Port has been around for years and was sooo soo good when it first opened, but now, half the things in there don't work which is frustrating when you trying to show your kids stuff. Most the little "experiments" for the kids are missing things or have broken parts. I mean as much as they charge for tickets, they should be able to fix the SIMPLE things in there!

great place for family of all ages. If you live here get a family membership. It also has an IMAX theatre.

Nice convenient parking. Hands on items for children to play. Needed some repairs and cleaned up a bit. Children did have fun. Food was ok. 2 and 10 yr old.

Spent a nice afternoon going through this. We went with adult kids and had fun. Lots to do with younger kids.

I love how the themes change and the kids can have a blast while also learning so much about science and the local area at the same time! The Imax movies and the interactive star shows are amazing!

We were just passing through when we stoped well worth it though. My 7 year old really enjoyed it and got us all out of the car for a few hours.

I've gone to this museum since I first went on field trips from towns away and also i went to their summer camps. I knew what it looked like back then and I still have pictures, I heard it closed down a while back and got renovations, decided to bring my kids now, it looks completely refreshing and I'm glad it has changed. I sincerely thank whoever is keeping this place a float and coming up with new designs, field trips, and summer camps.

This place will fascinate for hours! It is a great adventure for children as well as adults and a haven for grand parents.

5 outta t recommend.. friendly staff, and my mind was running wild with all the new things I learned. Kids will love this even if they don't love science

This place is over rated and overpriced. Many items were either inaccessible or inoperative. The planetarium show consisted of a Sesame Street Video. It was difficult to tell which displays were included and which ones "requires two wristbands to be in here" as there were no signs posted. High dollar snackbar and gift shop are available though.

Amazing place to travel with your children, it is definitely a lot of different things to do for children as far as learning objectives.

Visited late on Thursday, with just enough time to catch the last IMax show. Presentation was good. Viewed the under sea eco film. The discovery part is geared to school age visitors. Several displays were undergoing minor renovation. All in all, a good afternoon of science exposure for grades k-10.

We had a great day of discovery and play at the Sci-Port. The cost seemed reasonable, however there needs to more regular upkeep of science discovery centers. The IMAX of course was extra so we skipped it because of small child wanting to play instead of sitting still. Plan to see kids get wet so bring a change of clothes.

Just chilling this weekend so we added this to our list. Just so much things to look around, the Pendulum was a super hit for us. I put it on FB Live and got a bunch of people dizzy just have them watch it swing forever. It takes 44 hours to knock down all the sticks before it starts over, we recorded 2 go down.
We certainly enjoyed the IMAX, it was the National Parks episode. Absolutely fantastic and amazing. Bring throw up bags if you have motion sickness. It will happen to you!
Then the Planetarium which was amazing. We love stuff like that. The place is right across the river from our hotel. We loved it. I highly recommend it.

So this place has a special place in my heart. I worked there while in college and my daughter had a birthday party at Sci-port when she was three. It's a great place for families looking for something fun to do in Shreveport. It is on the riverfront and also has an IMAX Theater. If you have kids, leave at least two hours to explore the museum.

We took our granddaughter and she loved it. My husband and I did too. Educational and fun. The staff was so friendly.

A great find for our 4 and 6 year old while vacationing in the area. We had four hours to kill while daddy was at a business meeting and the museum was perfect. We were able to visit each of the exhibits, their favorites being the vacuum chair and air ball, and enjoy the IMAX theater. I was exhausted by the end of the trip but knew it had been a great choice when our four year old answered, "Everything was my favorite." Would recommend even for a nice afternoon outing. As a teacher I loved that it had such a variety that kids with different interests would be kept busy and employees were more than willing to answer the million questions my children had. Will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

Thorougly enjoyed it. Reasonable prices including the snacks there as well as giftshop. You can have a birthday party there also. Tons of scientific tests to do there. Really neat.

Well as a future Science teacher, this was a must see! We had a lot of fun. Tons of hands-on activities and fun for little ones as well as adults!

Great place to take the family! Really cool place to spend time. Very interesting and amusing science projects!

What a great find! Was that even an interactive museum wouldn't be amusing for a 1 & 2 year old, but it was great, especially as there is a section for 5 and under with lots of fun things to do and see, etc. The staff was very helpful and even played with one while I was playing with the other. Looking forward to taking the kids again next time I visit Shreveport to see them!

Great place for the family. Kids will love it and so will the parents. Take in a IMAX movie in the domed theatre and don't miss the Gallery of Intrigue. For the little ones go up stairs to a huge play area just for little kids.

Fun & lots of fun! One can never be board with the hands on adventures. They constantly change the activities.

We love Sci-Port! Always a great time for us! This place has been around for a long time! Love It! Always doing fun activities.

SciPort is one of Shreveport's family gems. It's full of science-centered activities for all ages.
It is currently undergoing a management transition as well as renovations and will re-open on New Years Day.

There was a lot more to do and see than you would think from the outside! If we lived here, we would get a membership. The monster makers temporary exibit wasn't extensive, but it was very interesting with great displays! We did not have our 8 year with us, but we constantly commenting on how much he would have enjoyed this or that. If I was a homeschooler, I would get a membership in lieu of a science textbook and make regular trips here! All around there are just little wonderful bits - like a bowl of water with a fan that show hoe hurricanes form or a pendulum clock, or a small,,cool planetarium. I'd say you can spend a full day with elementary kids and several hours with bigger kids and grown ups.

Sci Port is so much fun. I enjoy going just as much as my kids do. There are plenty of activities, a cafe, IMAX theater, etc. We've had birthday parties there & my child got to make their own ice cream. Plus it sits right next to scenic Red River. It's a great place.

I love bringing my nieces and nephews here. My mom and aunt use to bring me here as a kid and I still have fond memories! I hope to pass that down to my nieces and nephews! They always have fun and there's always something new to see and do.

Lots of fun for my 2.5 yr old and 10 month old girls. Loved the POP museum! Lots of fun stuff to explore! Will return!

Sci-port is one of the top ten hands-on science centers in the U.S. As well as hands-on science experiences, it offers regularly scheduled lectures and an Imax theater with several different films each day. In addition there is an outstanding observatory and astronomy wing. It hosts summer science camps as well as overnight and week end experiences. It is available for birthday parties and other private functions.

We are long time patrons of Sciport. We have been museum members @ different times in our lives although we don't live in theShreveport area. My husband took me there as a surprise anniversary trip in 1999. Later we would take our niece and nephew now 21 & 19. For the past 11 years we have been going with our own two sons. We haven't been in over a year and we're very surprised at the current condition of the museum. Glad to hear they are closing 9/4 for extensive renovations. It looks like it's time to do that. Not sure when they took the area on the second floor and glassed it in. This was for many years since Sciport opened where the younger children played and was included in price of the general admission. Since our last visit they have converted it into an additional fee area for young children but it looks really good. It was nice before but they seem to have made it much more cohesive and are now able to charge extra for it. Unfortunately for the rest of the museum it seems the only money they've put into the museum is that area.
I was very disappointed with the museum visit today. It's the first time my boys have wanted to stay under two hours and didn't protest when we said time to go. Hopeful new renovations will invigorate this place because the upstairs area is now run down and just pitiful. There were boxes piled into corners. The exhibits are not the same and hopefully they will take notes from other science centers and incorporate a highly interactive experience for older children.

The last time I was here helping the school field trip, it was awesome. The kids seem to have had a great time. I give this place a 4. Reason being is because the kids and I enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't approve of was the workers there. They were very distant and snobbish attitudes. I last heard that they were closing and most were out of jobs. If it was left up to me, they would have been fired sooner. Hopefully when they reopen they will hire some cheerful, helpful employees. I heard some one else was taking ver the place, it's been a while since I was there. Oh yeah, we did watch a movie and the planets were pretty cool. Since I helped it was free for me. Guess the school paid for it. Over all the place is pretty cool for kiddies.

We have been annual pass holders for several years. Our children have been going to Sci-Port since they were babies. They never tire of the exhibits, and my daughter has even had a birthday party here. Everything is well-maintained, and they frequently have new attractions and events to maintain interest. It's great that they have so many hands-on activities to keep the kids' interest and help them learn. Sci-Port is located on the riverfront near downtown restaurants and the walking trail.

We had not been to a kid's science museum, so this first visit was very interesting for the kids. But, perhaps 20% of the displays were not functioning.

We visited Sci-Port while visiting some family in Louisiana. It was very interesting. We saw the Titanic exhibit, which gave an up-close look at the ship, it's passengers, cargo, and fate. There is also an awesome frozen yogurt shop inside. A great spot for kids to learn while having fun.

What an awesome educational experience Sci port is for people of all ages! Plenty of experience ents going on that are well explained and gives the kids a Han even to explore and create!

I took some kids with special limitions but they really enjoyed!
Something interesting.
They have fun for kids from 5 to 17 years.
As a parent I also enjoyed.

Takking the children out for some fun learning. Nice, family fun with activities for both children and adults.

We took our kids here and they had a blast. Lots of neat things for the kids. We even liked it ourselves. We saw the Titanic exhibit which was really neat.

This place is super cool, and as a mom, I enjoy coming. This visit, I brought my two kids, a four year old and a two year old. They did have fun, but because they cant read yet, they didn't stay as entertained as when I've brought bigger kids in the past. They did enjoy the little Sesame Street video and the play center on the second floor though, and, of course, the gift shop :) I think in a couple of years, this will be one of their favorites tho. They will be able to learn, have hands-on activities, and have fun all in the same place.

Great science museum. Fun for all ages. We spent several hours here. Definitely worth the $10 admission.

We stopped into the museum to let’s the kids get some steps in during a long road trip. We arrived early and the staff opened the doors for us 5 minutes early to let us in. We purchased tickets and basically had the museum to ourselves for the first 45 minutes to an hour. There was so much to do there they everyone in the family had fun. We spent almost 2 hours there and the kids didn’t want to leave. I would recommend this spot to other families visiting.

We took the kids for a few hours, they always love it. It's very interactive so don't dress them in their finest;). This would be a great rainy day activity.

this place is wonderful for children and adults will find it interesting too...they have a real IMAX theater

You can spend the day exploring the exhibits & catch an IMAX movie. Close to the boardwalk . They have a snack bar area or after you can go to the boardwalk. Great day trip or stop.

A great place for kids to have hands on science and fun learning. Adults have a blast too and they have an awesome I-Max theater. A must visit!

Great adventures for the whole family. I had just as much fun as the kids. Adults can try out all of the really cool experiments. I loved the water section.

My grandson had not been to Sci Port so we took him there for the day. Lots of fun and educational too! Great for all ages!

Excellent place to spend quality time with family!
So many different things to do and experience. Year after year always a wonderful experience!

We enjoyed the Game Port area and the IMAX movie. We also visited the small children’s area, my Granddaughter loved it. I would highly recommend, the facility was clean with lots of fun things to do. We will visit again if we are ever in Shreveport again.

This place is just amazing. A place where kids can play and learn at the same time. Take some headache pills before you go lol it can be as loud as chuck e cheese :)

As a retired elementary science teacher I love it.
Something all of our friends have enjoyed when we took them...lol!

Had a lot of very fun scientific activities to explore in the center. We were surprised to find how large the center is. enjoyed the Panda movie in the Imax theatre as well. Recommend for family with kids, can spend about 2-3 hrs there with all the activities.

Probably the best educational museum in the area. Had higher expectations for the place, but it wasn't bad. Fun afternoon with my elementary school age child.

The Sci-Port is actually closed for renovations until January of 2018. My rating does NOT reflect what the display were or will be but rather from Oct through Dec 2017, it is CLOSED.

Was once a very nice place to go. Many of the exhibits were broken or old and worn out. Towards the end while they were open, it wasn't worth the money. Free passes from the library for educational purposes made it worth it. Paid for the Imax presentation and it was very boring. My kids were bored to tears. I hate Shreveport lost another venue but it was in need of a face lift to keep people coming back.

We are members and appreciate what the museum brings to the city. We're excited about the new POP children's museum (wish it was included in the membership, but it's only $4 for Sci-port members, and you can get a membership to POP). My big kids are cool with roaming around the whole museum while the little ones cook, shop, bank, and climb in the trees at POP.

Great for children young people and any adult interested in science.
The exhibits change periodically so you will want to go back every now and then to see what's new

It has been several years since we visited Sci Port and my oldest - 12 - was the only one who remembered being there. The 10 and 7 year olds also loved it. It was educational and fun. I even had a good job. We didn't stay to see the movie but loved everything else....
Except the lady in the gift shop was kind of crabby 😳

I took my 3 and 1 year old grandsons to the museum. There were activities to interest both age groups. A great place to visit.

Sci-Port is great for education and entertainment. Located conveniently on the Riverfront close to the Casinos. Has many exhibits for the young and old as well as an I-max screen. A great place for visitors to go.

We went for a birthday party of one of our friend’s kids. Always a great place to visit with the kiddos. I can not say enough good things about this place or describe enough about it. One thing I can say is it is a must see with the kids.
My daughter really enjoyed the planet section of the place. She has gotten all into science and there were multiple things for her to do there from planets, to anatomy, to mechanics, etc. The center is a real great place to visit!

We took our 10 years old grandson to SciPort on our way toBaton Rouge. They had activities for a wide range of ages. One of the best things to me was the video of "Becky's trip" on the Red River. We also attended a very interactive astronomy presentation. Our grandson was interested in the robotics program but it was for younger children with less experience than he had had (he had been taking "fungineering" at home

My children and I have visited here many times and we love it just the same each visit. It is fun and entertaining. I would suggest this place to anyone of all ages. I am just as entertained as the kids, if not more.

This center is geared towards younger families. It has a lot of exhibits that children can learn from, a snack bar area, an IMAX theater, lots of free parking. It was no too busy the day we went there, so we did get to see almost all of it in a little less than 3 hours, and found it very interesting. We saw one IMAX show, about how scientists are helping to stave off Panda extinction and it was terrific too

Cleaned up but not much left to do inside for preteens. Several rooms now empty. Price was a little high for what was available for him to do.

Lerning is top notch from elementry and above. The place to take your children, student, and anyone who what to see and experience how it happens. I have had the opportunity to watch the exhilaration in students going to the varopis exhibits found in Sci-Port. If you want learning to take place, go to Sci-Port.

You can touch and move things in this museum!
I touched a snake they pulled out to show us!
Many of the displays are geared toward young children, but there is still lots to do without the addl.fee of the iMax movie. We watched another movie about the the universe that was ok, but could benefit from more hard facts. They might consider upgrading their seating to be able to look up in comfort.
A few of the displays did not work. I loved the giant fish tank, the bed of nails and the wave simulator. Also, they have 2 squished penny machines! The best souvenirs are squashed pennies!
I would recommend taking in a small package of wet wipes. There are trash cans all over, so you can wipe off the handles of things and toss the wipes often. I would have felt better if I could disinfect one or two of the well-loved displays.

This is an unusual place that affords the kids and adults here a look at things that they might never be able to experience otherwise. It is a valuable asset to the education of our children.

My wife and I visited here while we were staying at Sam's Town. It was fun and had lots of exhibits. The IMAX picture was also really neat to see. The theatre room seemed sort of damp though. We want to bring our son to see this place as we think he will enjoy it.

As locals, we have been to the SciPort quite often. It is sometimes OK, but for the most part, it is not worth the money. Half of the attractions are usually not working and overall, just not a lot to do for the amount of money you pay.

there was so much to learn about and it was all hands on learning. my son loved it!!! you must make sure that you have enough time for everything

As mentioned in the title most of it is not open at this time. We left after visiting the lobby. IT was a really nice place to visit when it was all open.

Pop children's museum was amazing. My 15 month old loved it. We will be coming back soon. Very clean and great for learning!

A great place for science exploration. A variety of exhibits with live shows at certain times. You have to get the information from the ticket booth. Has a few exhibits that are particular to Louisiana. They book traveling exhibits. There is also the IMAX dome theater that everyone loves. There is a fee for Sci-Port and a separate fee for IMAX. There is fast food available like hot dogs, hamburgers, slices of pizza, drinks. Kids will be getting on the floor and climbing so they need to wear comfortable clothes. There is always a "star" live exhibit in the planetarium area. There are bathrooms, stairs, elevator, and handicap accessibility. It is very hands-on!

My family enjoyed the IMAX and museum. I wish we would have had been able to explore the parts that was close due to COVID-19

What a great place to learn new things and it is very kid friendly for those between the ages of 7 and 107. Lots and lots of exhibits that vary from location in the building. Displays are hands on, and the variety of the exhibits is astonishing. Mechanical, hydraulic, electric, and totally static and they cover so many different aspects of science.
Also includes an IMAX theater that has an amazing sound system. Really a good place to take the young scientist for an afternoon or even the whole day. They can do all sorts of things then take in an IMAX movie. They even have a snack bar.
I took my kids when they were younger and have taken my grandkids there twice.
Parking is not a problem and it is located right across the street from the Red River.

Made an hr drive just to go here to treat the kids to some fun, only to find out the place isn't even actually open... they're renovating. They have one little area open, but it's only for kids 8 & under... irritating since I have 1 under 8 & 1 just over.... we had to go find something else to do for the day.

My daughter, who is 4, and I visited on MLK Jr Day. I was excited to visit the new POP children's museum, sort of a museum in a museum concept. You have to pay an additional fee to go into it, or you can pay to only go to it or only to the rest of Sci-Port. Much of it was very well done, the exhibits of the kids land are colorful and good for younger children. As it was basically brand new, I was surprised and disappointed to find the water table doesn't work, there were non-working screens around, and some of the exhibits seem to be never "quality checked." Example: a sign tells you to press a button labeled with a matching animal picture to "take and x-ray" but none of the buttons are labeled. Another problem: there are big clear windows in the "paint store" area where you can see the other exhibits. I purchased the deal so we could go to both areas which was a good thing, as my daughter saw the other exhibits and wanted to go through them. Had we not paid for them it would be a tempting and visible disappointment.
We have always loved the Red River area with sand/water table, animals, lock and dam, river movie, and the boat. Those are all in generally good repair and always seem to be kept that way.
I echo what others say about the non working exhibits especially those on the second floor. Rather than just moving the kids building house out into that exhibit area and leaving it in mostly poor and non working condition, they need to get rid of it and make newer and more exciting exhibits. This is especially true as they have a new kids building house exhibit in POP. Every time I've been there the Mars rovers in that area are not working either. So I took off a star for those issues. Otherwise we do like coming here, I'm not thrilled with the additional fee for POP but it is a welcome expansion of their former "little kids play area."
Also for some reason there were no IMAX movies offered until like 1230 even though it opened at 9.

The moment you walk in the place captures you. So much is happening around you, you can't help but to get involved in the science. Every exhibit has you put your hands on to understand how it works. The solar system exhibit and the nature exhibit were some of our favorites. This place has an exhibit for every age group. When we go back to Shreveport, we will be going back here.

1. This museum was listed on the current ASTC brochure but they no longer accept the reciprocal memberships. The brochure also said they would re-open in 2017 which did not occur.
2. At the time we visited (Saturday at 11am), the museum wasn't even fully open so we couldn't buy tickets even if we wanted to. This might have changed since our visit since it looks like the remodel might be completed.
3. I suggest you call before going to be sure they are open and what their prices.
4. This place is a little tricky to find - not directly accessible from highway and limited signage.

My daughter loved all of the exhibits and demonstrations. The IMAX is the best one I've ever been to.

Lots of interesting stuff to see. A learning experience for sure. Happy and clean atmosphere. We go often :)

We were going to Florida for our first week long family vacation and spent the night in Shreveport to break up the 12 hour drive. My kids were excited to get to go to The Sci-Port Science Center, however; after we arrived and spent about 30mins we were sorely disappointed. This place is in need of "Major" repairs and improvements. Most of the attractions were "out of order" the IMAX Dome Theater was the highlight. The workers never one time interacted with us on the floor (other than the introduction of the IMAX) they just did not seem to be happy about being there. The experiments were missing pieces and were very dated. Many of the displays were antique and the interface is clunky. Again, in need of a major overhaul and the admission was not cheap for me and my 2 kids plus you have to pay extra for the IMAX. Save your time and money and wait to visit this place after it is refreshed and reinvented!

We have had a family membership every year for a long time. Memberships are a great value if you plan to go more than once or twice with 5 or more people. Also, a membership allows free entry into other science centers around the country. Our 19 grandkids all love going to Sci Port. There is a great area upstairs for younger kids, and informative and fun programs every day. Lots to see and do including an IMAX theater.

While the Center closes at 5:00 pm, the IMAX Theatre was our destination. We saw Guardians of the Gods, not too crowded. I really enjoyed the huge expanse of screen.

My 11 year old grandson and I Had a wonderful all day visit and especially loved the planetarium where Greg Andrews was so helpful and accommodating . After I expressed our disappointment and not seeing a program about constellations in the planetarium he offered to give us a personal showing after the regulary scheduled program. His enthusiasm was contagious as he explained how to find the stars & planets in the night sky. All staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for an opportunity to make good memories with my youngest grandchild.

Children and parents both love Sci-port. Experience a tornado; play with dominoes, splash in the children's water table, experience Louisiana exhibits and more.

Reasonable prices and pretty good attraction!!
Animals are great color and looking healthy.
Hopefully they expand in future.

Great for kids , and adults looking to expand their hobbies and interest in the astronomy and cosmic arenas. Fairly open free parking, and knowledgeable hosts. Located near the downtown area, walking distance from the casinos and mini waterpark to view. Not much traffic in this area to worry, so walking will be fun.

Perfect place to take your kids for the afternoon. There are always new exhibits, IMAX movies, and exciting things to do here. So interactive for kids of all ages.

Unfortunately the area for younger children was still being renovated and a few activities not working. Still seemed to delight children and we had no trouble filling four hours.

I recently attended a girl scout over night at the Sci-Port Discovery Center was thrilled with the IMAX presentation about the nation's national parks; and the kids loved all the hands on things they got to explore; from coding robots to electronic circuits the staff was amazingly enlightening and fun. Many of the kids truly loved the domino effect exhibit too! Great museum!!! Gift shop a bit small and could use more pins and or patches.

A note on the door???? Closed for renovations???
Put a big banner across the front page of your website!!! It should be obvious to visitors who travelled from Dallas to look for another attraction 😡 Having to look in ‘events’ to find it closed is not good enough.....

My 2 girls loved this place. We should have done this a second time instead of going to the aquarium.

This Hands-on science center includes exhibits and an IMAX theater. There is also a science demonstration stage with live shows.

Lot of fun for just the two of you or for the family. Truly a fun experience and done very well. Downtown and easy to get to with easy parking and lots of restaurants and places to go afterwards.

We took our 2- and 4-year old there on New Year's Eve, where we enjoyed the ball drop. It was $36 for the four of us (I think the 2 year old was free), which I thought was kind of expensive for less than 2 hours of play. But they did have fun in the area designed for small children, and my engineer husband really loved the whole museum. An added bonus is the museum's location next to a really cool train bridge. We got to see a train cross the bridge, which excited both kids. We come to Shreveport regularly to visit family, and I think we'll bring them again when both are in grade school and better able to absorb the science lessons.

We took our 9 and 5 year old grandchildren here for a while. We all had a great time. There is a lot for them to do and they don’t realize they are learning. We will be back!

A good place for kids, lots of interactive science, health and biology activities. My grandsons are 9 and 6 and we had a good time. My 27 year old son in law probably enjoyed it the most. There was a birthday party going on and I would use the area if I lived in town. All around, a good time.

Great place to visit with children, heck, as an adult I wouldn't mind going back by myself just for the planet and solar system piece. As must see attraction when in town!

I absolutely loved this place, took my grandchildren and they were enthralled with the hands on opprotunities. It was one of the most rewarding experiences we have had thus far.

This place is great to take the kids. It's large with exhibits set up throughout. Lots of hands on for the children. Check out the IMAX theater, which is always showing something educational but entertaining.

It is a joke in the family... "Let's go to Shreveport" depressing visit- everything seemed to be closed. No place to go after 5pm

Many activities for all ages to enjoy. Would recommend it for a rainy day activity to let the kids burn energy.

Very good place to take a young child. Very educational and safe environment. We love it! Our child is 3 years old and she didn't want to leave. We are planning to go back very soon.

We enjoyed visiting the Sci-Port museum. We paid extra for the SnoPort area. The planetarium was used in that section. We enjoyed the IMAX movie, but I wish they had fresh popcorn! My kids loved the younger Children's Museum part, and they were a good age for it. Some of the exhibits in the middle part of the second floor were not working properly. It seemed a tad pricey for what we did- just a little under $100 for the three admissions for four people. But, overall we enjoyed it and spent about 2.5 hours there.

I haven't been here for several years, but decided to go see an Imax film on Lemurs of Madagascar. I was wondering if it might be a 4D experience because upon entering the theatre, it smelled like a monkey house at the zoo. The seats have seen better days. The film itself seemed dim and a little blurry. Other films I've seen at this location and others haven't been like that. It was also distracting to see little bits of what looked like dirt moving around the screen. I don't know if that was from the film or the projector. On another note, there was one other group in the theatre and before the film started, one of the group ran back down the stairs cussing like a sailor...I really wish the employee would have said something to him or asked him to leave.

Great science center with interesting exhibits for all ages. It is very reasonably priced, and it provides something for all ages including pre-school children. I think it is the top attraction for a family to visit in Shreveport .

“Our family had fun”
5 of 5 starsPending review
This is a great way to spend an afternoon or longer with your family. You feel like you're doing something together instead of just watching a tv, movie, or tablet screen. It's educational but not in a boring way because it's very kid friendly and you don't have to worry they're going to break things.
The IMAX movies are short enough not to get bored, but long enough to feel like you get your money's worth. They're educational, but not boring, and appropriate for all ages. We saw the national parks one. I don't know if it's still showing but we had about 3 or 4 choices, I think. It was good with pretty scenery.
The things to do in the museum are fun. There are lots of areas grouped by themes. There was a human body area, a lot of outer space stuff, a construction area and a sports area. They have animals like snakes, alligators, turtles and fish. They even have a tarantula and exotic cockroaches and lots of others. The staff do little science demonstration shows as a way to mix it up, other than just playing with the exhibits. There is also an area for the little kids to play and we could've spent all day in there. It was like a miniature constructions site. The staff were young but friendly and nice. They all seem to really like science. We saw what we thought was a birthday party happening and wished we could've joined in. They made something with a lot of smoke that we learned later was ice cream.
The people at the front are hard to understand (maybe noise) but they give you a map and a list of things to do that day. The place offered more things to do than were on the list though. I guess you just have to know or get lucky and see it happening at the right time.
There isn't a restaurant, but there's a small area to sit with tables and you can get prepackaged snacks and a drink. I think they had some "food" like hot dogs and nachos. Kids liked the Icees. It wasn't crowded when we sat, and the tables could've been a little cleaner, considering, but we weren't expecting that much to start with. Kids don't care. They were just pushed together and chairs were all moved around. It was just sort of unorganized. It's kind of an out in the open area, so anyone can sit there.
There was a gift shop on the side. It was okay. Not great but not that terrible, but that made it easy to leave without spending money on more stuff. The candy looked the best and was like an exhibit of its own.
The bathroom had toilet paper, paper towels and soap! For being a public restroom, I was surprised it was so clean. I guess I was surprised because it was next to the restaurant area. They have small, kiddie toilets up front, so walk to the back for the adult ones. The kids think this is so funny.
Overall this was a really great day for the family. Anybody who doesn't like a place like this doesn't like fun. You don't have to be smart to have fun here, but the people that don't like it and are bored probably aren't the audience they're looking for anyway.

I have two kids, infant and toddler boys, and they always have a great time when we come here. They have tons of educational exhibits and activities. My oldest loves the airplane building station and the giant floor piano the most, and the giant contraption they have in the main lobby. We took my wife's 12 year old sister to the imax and she loved it, the boys were too sleepy to really watch it though. It has a little bit of everything for young kids. Not to mention military discounts.

My kids, ages 8,6, and 5, really enjoy coming here. I learn something every time we come as well. The staff is wonderful and excited about teaching. The only problem I have is wanting to spend time with each child learning from each exhibit and not being able to.

Sci-Port was fun. I wished we had just on more hour. I suggest doing one of the mystery adventures. Game port was also fun.

We were members for years and it evolves periodically to change the exhibits. My daughter is old enough to perhaps do volunteer work now because she has done just about EVERY camp they offer. We also used the equipment for a science project!

We started bringing grandchildren to Sci-Port almost 15 years ago. We have a great experience every time, and so do our grandchildren. Our youngest is four. There is always plenty to do that children enjoy, and we enjoy trying out different things along with them. Very educational. Lots of fun. The staff is excellent--never too busy to answer questions or provide assistance. The programs offered are always entertaining. We have attended a good many events with and without our grandchildren including Legos, Titanic, Bones, and Mad Scientist Ball. A membership is a great idea as a gift that keeps on giving throughout the year.

I've been going here since my kids were little. They're all grown and gone now, but we still visit whenever we can. It's not just for kids! It's so much fun.

Kids that enjoy hands on learning love this place. Special themes are scheduled throughout the year. Check IMAX movies as well. With domed theatre it has a different effect that flat screen theatres.

My 12 yr old son loved it. The Imax theatre is really and has new movies often. The tornado movie was neat. It made you feel you were part of the show. The science exhibits were neat too.

I have been here several times and each time I go, I find something I missed previously. My niece goes often with her school and we usually meet them there. It's a great experience for those hands-on kids that live to experiment.

The IMAX theater is not comfortable. The seats force you to be in an odd upright position that strains your neck to look at the screen, they should re-install the seats so that they will tilt back a bit. And cut the annoying lights shining in from the projection room?
The planet Arium is just a room partitioned off with a curtain, basically a "home made planetarium", with also uncomfortable seating that forces you to strain your neck to look up. I guess that's why they don't promote it on the website. The staff is friendly.
The rest of the exhibits are mainly designed for school children field trips. Pretty interesting for the kids.

We stopped in at the Science Center as a rainy Saturday afternoon activity based on reviews. We did not have high expectations but we had hoped it would be interesting enough for 2 adults. Turns out, it was not. We spent about 30 minutes inside looking at the various exhibits. The planetarium exhibit was interesting but I was hoping for something more in that area - a show, an interactive activity, etc. It was clean and staff was very friendly. We did not purchase a ticket to the IMAX theater as there was nothing we wanted to see but I feel if you combine those 2 activities, it would make for a good afternoon.

A super educational with fun place to spend hours for kids, adults, or as a family. So many hands-on learning experiences. IMAX theater has some magnificent attractions-a great experience in each one. Well worth the price of admission. A super place for school field trips, They also have an eatery right inside the complex.

I visited the many times over the years but recently I noticed that some of the displayed stuff are broken and not fixed or replaced, yet IDMax still fascinating.

I live here in Shreveport and I still don't get tired of Sci-port. Kids and adults alike can always find interesting and fun things to do. Great fun. Also a very good rainy day activity.

Our 4-year-old had an AWESOME time running ALL OVER this place!! You can see evidence of that in the photos! And, there were so many sweet and kind employees and volunteers. In the restrooms, there are tiny toilets like in elementary school 😉.
There were quite a few non-working exhibits. Also, a variety of dead/dying plants... I think all of that could be/might be spruced-up quickly. These are the reasons I chose to give 4 stars-- hopefully they are fixed before you visit!

This is a must-see for families traveling through the Shreveport-Bossier area. Set downtown on the riverfront, Sci-Port provides hours of fun for the whole family. Be sure to catch a movie in their IMAX Dome Theater and to grab a snack in their cafe area. Worth the price and time you will spend here!

I really loved this place since we have two little infants and they had a lot of fun there, with fun activities for different ages. It has a Lego place, miniature trains, an iMax movie theater, interactive science explanations a planetarium, and the last floor there is for little kids where they can play, it is really a good place.

We spent the day at the Sci-Port and it was so much fun. There are hands on exhibits for young children (ours is three) as well as an Imax theater for movie goers of all ages. This was so much fun and we can't wait to go again!

We have taken our grandchildren here numerous times, in fact so often that we have bought an annual membership. The children are ages 8-15, and all of them have a great time when we bring them. The exhibits are very much "hands-on" for the little ones, and so they are kept busy while their older siblings roam freely. We adults enjoy the historical and scientific, technical areas, but we always have a fine time.

So worth the time and expense it takes to visit here. When my daughter was younger, we had a membership here and used it frequently! This is an impressive museum for a city the size of Shreveport. Definitely worth the visit.

My dad and I took our annual father and son vacation to Shreveport/Bossier city and we decided to see what Sci-Port is all about. Keep in mind my dad is 67 and I am 40 but we are both kids at heart. Well, to sum it up.....we had a blast. We lost track of time and before we even realized it, 5 hours had passed. The cool thing is, there are so many hands on things to do it is just fun for all ages. We might just have to come back soon

Fantastic learning and interactive place for kids. They are always bringing in new exhibits and the interactive displays for kids is really cool.

This place is awesome! They feature many different themes and are currently implementing an excellent hands on children's area, if you live or are visiting Shreveport , this place is a must to visit. IMAX too!

Enjoy spending time at the Sci-port Discovery Center. Educational and interactive displays for all ages. Worth the price of admission it's very easy to spend a couple of hours here, or all day. Great location in downtown Shreveport overlooking the Red River.

What a bright spot in Shreveport. ..our little guys loved it. Wonderful hands on experiences. Knowledgeable and friendly staff...after you finish here walk across the street and play in the water fountains...bring towels! Fun Fun Fun day!

a fun and learning for all ages, IMAX theatre has great movies, different programs, each day be sure and get a schedule

Not super impressive and kind of lame. Okay for an hour or so but that's about it. Best part for the kids was the boat. Glad we got a good deal for membership on Groupon. Not worth the full price by any stretch of the imagination.

My boys and I have visited Sci-Port at least once a year for numerous years, now. They have wonderful IMAX movies and traveling exhibits! We love this place!

Try to go regularly to stimulate my brain will be there again this weekend. Looking forward to it with a friend.

Took the family for the day and we had a great time. My six year old couldn't decided what to do first and jumped from exhibit to exhibit trying to do everything. My daughter had a good time and enjoyed many of the science exhibits. We all loved the Hubble Telescope IMAX experience. We were there most of the day and it flew by. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a family outing, especially if it is hot outside!

We've been here multiple times over the years and keep going back. If you're visiting and want to find a family fun place, this is a good one.

We have visited Sci-Port many times over the years. Love it every time. Teen is finally getting too cool for it, but us grown ups still like seeing the exhibits. Gramps even likes the Astronomy section.

The place is small and many of the displays are worn down. A major update is needed. The location is good with convenient parking and right by the riverside.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. We took our 7 year old. Played and explored everything. Saw an IMAX movie. Had our picture made. We were there for hours. We got tired but never bored.

We took our 20 month old grand daughter here and she had an absolute blast. There are so many activities for young ones to engage themselves. They have a section dedicated to children eight years old and younger. The theme of the section is learning by playing. Even our toddler was able to engage the exhibits and have a blast doing so. Now, this place is not just for children. I felt like a kid too. There are too many learning opportunities to mention, but no one should be bored. They also have an I-Max theater.

Sci-Port is an excellent place to spend time with the children in an hands on educational environment. The little scientist will bud with the varying experiments available and the inviting and hands on events. Parents will appreciate the inside food court to thirst their quench or grab a light meal. The I-Max theater shows limited movies, but is enhances the movie-going experience for those who have never done so. Memberships are available as well as entrance to upcoming events.

What an excellent place to take out of town company! Lots of different exhibits and science projects going on. Fun for all ages of children. They also get some very interesting traveling exhibits in there also that are worth going to see. There is also an IMAX dome theater on the premises..

Our grandkids love this and love having their birthday parties here also. The parents and grandparents had a wonderful time also.

This is a great place to take kids. Lots of fun educational things to do. Endless activities hands on,even a eye max theater. Adults you will enjoy also.

This is a great place to take your kids. There is so much to experience with them and so much for them to do to occupy them. It's just a great place to go and it is even better when you schedule it because the staff will schedule activities for the kids and let them have hands on experiences.

I went to the museum with my 10y/o and my mom. Sciport is just a short drive from the aquarium (you could walk but it's hot in Sept.) We enjoyed the interactive displays. My favorite part was interacting with the scientists that work there. There was a very nice gentleman, a physicist, that talked with us for awhile about the pendulum. It was fun to learn something new that made us go... Hmmm...
All of the exhibits were not working properly and there was a good bit of under-/unused areas. I see lots of potential for growth.
While it was probably not the "best" science museum I've ever been to, it WAS and enjoyable way to spend a hot afternoon inside.

I visited this location on the recommendation of a friend and was very pleasantly surprised. There are multiple very interesting demonstrations going on covering various subjects. Science subjects to interest everyone, done in a very engaging and simple manner. I was most impressed by the planterium display. The person giving the talk was extremely well informed and able to speak to both the science and mythology of the constellations. What a wonderful afternoon. I encoourage anyone to visit and you will learn a lot.

This is a good place for kids. My sons have gone here with their grandparents for several years. They usually go to the IMAX theater, also. Lots of hands-on exhibits that explain scientific concepts to kids. They also have a gift shop and snack shop.

Kids had a great time, some of the exhibits are outdated or don't work but if you need an activity its cool. But definalty not worth the entrance fee. And don't get caught up in the hype of the IMAX movie, both kids fell asleep and the 30 minutes of underwater coral reefs.

Went to Sci-Port today with 19 mo.old baby & 8yr old kid. The Planetarium was awesome. This shouldn't be missed. Show is spectacular, using round screen that resembles a sun outside, sound system is excellent nothing to complain. The ambience is very relaxing as if your star gazing. The kids have a series of hands-on activities which is good for motor skills development. All the activity areas were designed for learning through playing. There were so many improvements & add on. Around past 1pm, Science experiment demo/show was held near the Planetarium. The kids had a blast of learning the amazing facts. You can also view a video about the surrounding environment in Louisiana, about Bayous & other exciting living organisms that play a major role in Louisiana's natural habitat. The staffs are very helpful & accommodating. Restrooms are kept-clean & well-maintain. If your hungry, there's Galaxy Café. Want to bring some souvenir stuff? Stop by the souvenir shop then.

Took the kids here for a few hours. It is well worth the trip! The kids have TONS to do and learn. Interactive and the staff are extremely friendly. Getting a membership if you live in the area is well worth it. There is a new part open for children 8 and under that has a separate fee but it is all worth it! Take thebkids and go!

This was a fun place for my friends, mom and me to go to. There were several fun activities for us to do and learn from. It was a great experience.

we decided to bring our toddlers even though they were doing renovations. When we got there the guy at the front desk said it would be $10 a person and that only the childrens museum (play area) was open having not been there in almost 15yrs when I was a child we paid and went up the elevator. Our children did thoroughly enjoy it but we only stayed maybe an hour and paid $50 for 2 of our adults to sit on a bench the whole time while me and 1 other person walked around to keep an eye out on the kids. The kids area was alittle chaotic with other peoples kids running around and leaving things out of the right station nothing to major just mostly kid stuff but some of all the running made it more difficult for my toddlers to maneuver. Overall my kids had a good time I just wish we would have waited until the repairs were all finished so we could have gotten our money worth for all the people we came with.

Great place to go with all ages of children and adults; great for a rainy day when kids get cabin fever!!

This place has some nice exhibits, especially if you have school age kids. There is also an IMAX theater here. They do host several programs throughout the year, during which schools can participate.

Sciport Discovery Center is one of the top ten hands-on science centers in the country. It has activities for all ages including toddlers to senior citizens. Its Imax Theater is a domed theater that shows the best in science/nature films. There are demonstrations and traveling exhibits as well as summer science camps, week end camps, and overnights.

Absolutely wonderful. Kids love it. The movies are always interesting and entertaining. They change exhibits often.

This is a great place for families who have not been before, but they have fallen behind in terms of new, fresh exhibits that would bring repeat business.

We went all the way downtown and paid for parking to see this science center after hearing from a friend last year how interesting it was. We got there and the sign on the door said Imax closed till later this month and science center open January 2018 some of the locals we met downtown don't think it will be open then.

I have been over times and grandkids love it. They even ask to go but am disappointed that the interactive things don't get fixed in a timely manner. Going again tomorrow and hope they are fixed because they are some of their favorite things to do.

NO FOOD AVAILABLE AND ALL RESTAURANTS REQUIRE AN UBER TO GET THERE!
not clear in the website.
Also the imax we wanted to see was cancelled because a school group was there that day!

We're a thirty-something couple who loves a good science museum and had a grand time spending an hour and a half at Sci-Port. The museum is a bit dated and not everything was in perfect working order but we still had a blast--especially in the paper airplane exploratorium. Worth stopping in!
Very nice science museum Spent a couple of hrs here. My grandson loved it. Had a blast playing there. Food was pretty good too. Close parking.
