We stopped here to eat our lunch that we packed for our road trip. We pulled right up to a picnic spot over looking the lake. People were boating and swimming. We had a great time people watching. The park was not crowded. $7.00 to enter the park was well worth it.

had birthday and families picnic and there plenty of space with play area and spray park for the children and a small beach and grill to prepared your meals and restroom n ear.

We walked from the Ramada Hotel on the lake front, along the shore and into the park. It's free for pedestrians , but cars pay $7.
The walking paths and cycle lanes are well maintained and go round the end of the lake to where the canal meets the lake.
You can continue to walk along the canal to other villages, but 5 / 6 miles was sufficient there and back.
It does get very windy, and watch out for the Canadian geese droppings on the path.
Unfortunately the cafe / booth selling refreshments even on a Saturday was closed, as its after Labor Day and doesn't operate.
Lots of people exercise their dogs, and it's a very quiet place to walk with good views of the lake.

Stayed at the Ramada and took a 4 mile walk through the park. The park was well maintained and beautiful sights. I loved the lake and the views that were available.

Yesterday we went on a bus trip to Seneca Lake Wineries. We completed our trip at Seneca Lake State Park. What a beautiful place. There are pavilions and playgrounds. Numerous walking trails. Many picnic tables and cooking areas. Well maintained rest rooms. All alongside Seneca Lake. We are going to take a drive back with the grandkids for a picnic.

By reogirl |

We visited with the grandkids, 7 & 8. There was plenty of parking close by. We brought a picnic and there were plenty of tables near the splash pad that were in the shade. The park was kept up nicely, the bathrooms and changing area were clean. The kids loved the splash pad. They said the water was kind of cold. During the lifeguard breaks they played on the adjacent playground. We wanted to swim also but the beach was closed. When we asked about it we were told they do not have enough lifeguards. It is $7 to park, but worth it for a nice outing!

The park is right along Seneca Lake and there are many places to sit and eat or just enjoy the view. There is a play area for kids and lots of parking.

By Tina I |

The park was large with many different places to go in the park itself. Lots of parking there as well.

Great water owes on the lake.
Very relaxing with all the wineries you can visit.
They are very up to date and well run.
We did buy some wine and grape pies.
They were great.

Rainy day visit in March - but still a beautiful setting. Many picnic tables, cute playground - next visit will be in the summer sun!

Visiting Geneva we drove around the lake some & it’s absolutely stunning. Did not realise how beautiful this area was. Definitely want to head back there & spend a week exploring!! Definitely visit, you won’t be disappointed

By Mark W |

The city of Geneva was smart long ago to save this beautiful park for all to enjoy. It extends the full length of the city on the lake with the exception of the Ramada. There is so much space. We were there in late November, but have also been there in the summer. Lots of ducks and geese in November

This park is operated by the State of New York and offers a wide variety of recreational activities. There is a small bathing beach with dressing and restroom facilities. Associated with the beach is a water spray park which is definitely a hit with the younger crowd. The park has many acres of well maintained grounds which include covered pavilions that offer picnicing facilities for large groups even if the weather is not ideal. Many expansive areas of lawn with sports fields, benches and tables, restroom facilities and paved paths for walking and bicycling. A public boat launch is available as are longer term boat docking facilities. There is a daily fee to enter the park.

By TonyK300 |

Right on the northern tip of the lake next to the Ramada, it offers nice walking paths and driving lanes bordering the lake. Picnic table under lush trees offer great respite from the sun. Peaceful and picturesque!

We stopped here to see the other end of the lake from Watkins Glen. We rode bicycles from end-to-end of the park along the lake and realized how large it was. We were there nearly three hours! Finding the canal trail was an added bonus.

Seneca Lake State Park is beautiful. Geneva and thd surrounding area are very fortunate to have such a great place to picnic, swim or just take a walk. I think it would be great if trash containers could be returned to the park

Having lived along the ocean for many years, seeing this expansive lake in the middle of New York was impressive. There is the obvious influence of people but it doesn't diminish the natural beauty of this super deep (600'+) super long glacial lake. The State Park starts in Geneva and expands to 141 acres of serene, quiet park that includes trails, beach, boat launches, picnic tables, comfort facilities and plenty of open space for the kids. If you're an avid fisherman or just a beginner, this is a perfect spot to toss a line in the water. Monster Lake Trout can be landed by the serious angler or over 50 varietes of bass, trout, panfish, pickerel, carp... the list goes on and on. Recreational boaters and sportsmen alike will love the calm waters. If you spend some time there, the constant slapping of water against the shore has an obvious effect on your blood pressure. This visit made me truly relax. Take the time and make the trip to Seneca Lake State Park.

made a quick stop here while we visiting Geneva, Seneca Falls wineries. Very large, lots of picnic tables, clean place to take your family.

By Ted S |

There is more than meets the eye here at the northern tip of Seneca Lake (the largest of the finger lakes in New York State. We stopped off here for a stroll in the dusk. After 6:00 PM they stop taking the $7 parking fee so if you are not a serious camper or boat user via the marina this is a great place to wander along the lovely shoreline and walk the dog. See the photos do get my drift! The address we used was 1 Lakefront Drive where the visitor center is located.

By John F |

Great place for a walk along the lake. Nice spots to grab some pictures or just and watch. Lots of seating along the trails and picnic areas and playground. Great place to just relax if you are in the area.

By buffalogirl40 |

Great state park. $7 fee per car. Multiple nice playgrounds, huge splash pad and nice concessions stand offering ice cream as well as food such as hot dogs, chicken fingers, etc. Lots of shaded picnic benches. Park is well maintained & has friendly staff. Beach was closed when we were there due to unsafe bacteria levels in water. Huge marina too. My kids ages 7 & 4 absolutely loved it!

By BillDad13 |

My wife is in a wheel chair and it is very accessible. The view is really nice along the lake. The trees along the paths make for a nice mix of sun and shade.

By KthomasOT |

We traveled an hour specifically to take our 4 kids to the spray park on a hot day. The kids LOVED the spray park. Here is the problem....Just about EVERY boy over the age of 4 sits on the ground sprayers. I'm not really sure why parents let their kids do this...its GROSS. Its not a bidet its a spray to play in. So as you can imagine on this day they had to close the spray park at 2 pm due to water quality issues. Yeah...yuck. So PLEASE parents be responsible for your kids and don't let them sit on the sprayers. Seriously, just think about it.....its gross. Also if you have one in diapers they require them to wear a swimmer diaper and a plastic cover (which they sell at the concession stand for $2). Interesting they make the little ones wear protective layers but every other kid can stick their parts directly in the sprayers....ugh!

A beautiful spot for a walk, families, or just relaxing. Clean, safe, & ice cream. Gave us a comfortable feeling & reason to return & explore the Finger Lakes region

By kellie617 |

A great state park for picnics and a beautiful walk.
The views of the lake are really nice.
A lot of grassy area for baseball and other fun games.

By Stephen T |

We were able to walk the park with no problems. Remember there are a lot of stairs if you want to see all of the waterfalls. Overall this was well worth the drive to see and made for a fun day outdoors.

By Patti L |

Love this small little state park on the lake, just gorgeous! Sit on the benches and take in Seneca Lake or take a walk.....beautifully kept, relaxing way to spend a couple of hours.

By bbbob84 |

We visited in the evening, and even though the sun does not set across the lake, there are a number of beautiful pictures to be taken of all the colors that abound from the sky on the water. We enjoyed our stroll along the waterside. There are a number of stops along the way to take photos or just enjoy the view. Wildflowers, manicured lawns and rock jetties are all part of the charm of this area. The walking path appears to go on for miles. We did not check to see how far it is in reality. A very enjoyable experience and we are certain to be back.

BREATHTAKING PARK. ALOT of upwards climbing steps with waterfalls Over you head. nMUST GO. Apictures paradise. MOYHER NATURES BEAUTY AT HER BEST!

Seneca Lake State Park has a nice walking and biking path by the Lake. Each evening we took a walk there and rented bicycles one afternoon. Definitely a family park, with the sprinkler area for the children. Not crowded during the week either.

By xxNEEcheerxx |

Cute little park and pier on the lake. Nice for a little after dinner stroll, especially while the sun is setting- it is gorgeous! Beware on the pier though of the spiders along the railing- they are giant!!

By Joe Monteforte |

This park was one of the Best I ever attended. I am in a manual wheelchair and wheeled six miles on paths and private roads. Great facilities and accommodations. A must for any runner or someone who wants to exercise , launch a boat or fish too.

By John G |

The walkway along the water is beautiful and very well maintained.
The views of the lake are awesome There are interesting informational markers detailing the history of the area as well.
I found the water fountains and benches very thoughtful.

By Sharon H |

This is a beautiful park right on Seneca Lake, Large park really nicely laid out with lots of picnic tables.

By AAHolt |

Gorgeous state park in the Finger Lakes region. It was clean and there were plenty of places to sit, relax, and enjoy the views. Easy access.

By Bob K |

This is one of the most beautiful lakefront parks in the Finger Lakes! It has beaches, water parks for kiddies, a marinaq, boat launch, miles of paved walking paths and acres of green space. Dogs can play, kids can play, parents can stroll, all in an extremely well manicured State Park walking distance from Downtown Geneva. All this and a view down the lake to die for!!

By Deborah L |

A wonder way to get together with family and friends, a beautiful lake with lots of space. They have a lovely water park for the little tykes, playground, food stands and the beach. Walk along the shore of Seneca Lake from the park up to the Chamber of Commerce. Lots of people use the walkway to walk, bicycle, walk their dogs, just a day to relax and enjoy all around.

By 6709481 |

Today, February 19th, 2017 was unusually warm for New York and we visited the park. Many people were enjoying the day, walking, jogging and walking their pets. This is my favorite place to walk. The scenery is beautiful and the park is kept clean and has plenty of benches to take a break. If you are really ambitious you can walk all the way to the state park. The only negative is the fact that their aren't any public restroom facilities.

By Prudence H |

Made a quick stop to the park with my family in July. We were really excited because we had read that we would be able to swim in the lake however when we arrived we found that we were not permitted to swim. The kids were a bit disappointed as they were too old to go into the splash pad. If you have younger kids this is a great place to take them for a walk and a visit to the splash pad. There were plenty of bathrooms, places to relax, walk and play sports.

By johnrN3026VV |

This is a beautiful State Park right on the Lake with plenty of parking and food and drink for sale. We found a Cruise company with a pontoon boat that comes right to the dock to pick up passengers at the Park. Its called Seneca Lake Reel Tours and it charges $20.00 a person for a 75 minute cruise on the Lake. The captain Mr. Stivers gives a running commentary of what we were looking along the shore line. You can buy an alcoholic drink while cruising At the end of the cruise the boat returns to the same dock where you departed. The cruise runs twice daily at 200 and 400 PM. There is a beautiful patio to site while waiting for the boat to dock

By Pdonatyandkids |

Nice park. Pretty well kept up. We were at the entrance were the Geneva visitor and event center is. This section is still part of the park however it has no access to the splash pad or "beach". The other side is there is no admission fee in this area either. Plenty of parking. Great walking path along the lake. Many people also were biking on the path (plenty of room for everyone). You can fish off the many piers or the banks to the lake. Tons of benches to sit and enjoy the lake views.

By MamaMoose72 |

My husband walked along the lake every morning. He saw many critters along the way. Sunrise on the lake......beautiful!

There is a small beach and lake swimming area. When we visited, we could not swim due to a high bacteria count in the lake. Thankful that they check the quality of the water! We were not completely out of luck with water activities. They have a sprayground that we all enjoyed. Cooled us off a bit. The parking was close to the facilities. There's a snack bar and a playground at the beach area. Lifeguards were friendly.

If you own a boat, this is the place to begin sailing! It's so pretty. Google Maps offers a great view of the boats, the sprayground, beach and entrance to the park.

We have camped here now 3 years in a row. The sites are generous, well maintained, and plentiful. Loop 5 for RV's/trailers is just above Seneca Lake and the view, especially the sunsets are breathtaking. Wineries and breweries close by. Plenty of walking trails, a great concession stand, well groomed beach, and a brand new beautiful marina are there for all who make the short drive to enjoy. Truely a hidden gem !!

By nbayoungboymerch |

Awesome...! That is very beautiful, very nice environment, peaceful and very well...Love to see this...

By David B |

The state park is great for walking, biking, frizbee, spray park, playground, etc. Food is limited menu, dogs, icecream and not much else

By Maltipoo16 |

This was such a great place to take the dog for a walk. There was a beautiful long pier to walk down, and my dog just loved it. Such a beautiful view of Seneca Lake.

By Trpt8va |

We use this park every year, it has lots of picnicking areas, grills, play areas, and the spray park for kids. The marina is beautiful, and I enjoy putting my boat in there. They made major renovations to the boat launch area, now one of the nicest and easiest around to launch at. Now, if the state would put money into repaving the road from the gate to the marina, it would greatly improve the look and accessibility. Too many patches and potholes to navigate - would be nice to widen the road as well, there's plenty of room for it. Summer vehicle fee is $7, you can get an all-season pass.

By NjHinSYR |

Not as easy to swim there as in the past. If you intend to swim, wait until August as the lake remains cold through most of the summer.

By raroone |

The park has a very good marina, it is clean and maintained, has plenty of grills and picnic tables and shelters and has a water park for the jungest generation. It is a treat on a hot day for everyone.

By Sharon S |

the dining and outside area location many sitting areas on ground floor around the lobby for sitting, reading, using wifi
some rooms are small pool not pleasurable at all

By Chester P |

Took a really nice walk along the waterfront. Very clean and well kept.
We saw couples fishing, families walking.
If you go check for free concerts in the summer.

By williamwE30QX |

Huge park next to Lake Seneca. Lots of room for us and the pups. We took walks along a couple of roads, sat on a couple of supplied benches. Free entry free, free everyyhing.

By Katie F |

The $7/car entrance fee is totally worth it! This is a beautiful area to sit and watch the lake or take a walk or bike ride on their paved path. In addition, they have multiple playgrounds and a sprayground, plus beach access. There are restroom facilities and a concession stand. Plenty of picnic tables and benches around. The sprayground actually has a lifeguard so it will shut down periodically for their breaks (probably 15-20 minutes?). This is a great spot to pack a picnic and let the kids run around while enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Hi: You like paying a fortune, for the "big privilege" to park your car, while you stare at the lake? Well, by all means, Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva NY is for you! It;s tailor made just for you, to empty your wallet, while NYS charges you another tax, to give you the "right", to see a body of water, that's been there for 50 million years, before the state of NY came along. Picnics and boating are nice, but I can park my car in my own driveway. You may see it as just a small expense to have a full day at the lake, and I suppose I can see it that way. But I won't. Only in America, do people pay for the "privilege" of doing something, that they were doing for free all along.

By Doris P |

The most stunning views of the Grotto trail dogs are not allowed, so my comments may be jaded. We also were here on holiday weekend, very crowded. We did the Rim trail which was pleasant & away from the crowds but limited views.

By rlspanda |

My family came here to swim and talk some long walks. Wish there was more shade. I didn't realize how shallow the water stayed so far out. Would help to mention to bring water shoes since it's rocky. Overall we had a good time though!

By Mike11201 |

Our family was spending pretty much several hours a day at this beautiful state park. The "sprayground" is 100 jets of waterlicious fun. There are three playgrounds and ample space for picnicking. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was the beach. The beach is small, and can smell bad when there's algae along the shore.

The view over Lake Seneca is absolutely gorgeous. We were here in mid June, and the park was very empty during the week with larger crowds coming on the weekends.

By Jackie L |

Very disappointed went 3 times in 2016 and twice sorsypstl was closed. The one time it was open we got ready and went in the spray for less than 5 minutes and they called a twenty minute "potty break", while some did head to the restrooms most ran to the playground. Mine went to the playground and after the twenty monute break decided to stay on the playground.
We could have gone to numerous playgrounds in our area for free. After paying three time to get into the park to use the spraypark and they way it all worked out we didn't bother trying again.

By sotms |

The splish-splash pad was awesome fun for kids.
They also loved the dry playground next to it.
The beach was 100 feet away and full of sea weed. If you dont mind that, then it is a very unsual experience to wade through the water for good 10 minutes without reaching any depth, as the water there is extremely shallow.
$7 entrance fee

By Ahanbali |

Lovely spot on the lake. Lots of construction and noise detracted from the serene surroundings. Would not go back.

By Rose P |

We were there in October, fall color was lovely. A drive runs the length of the park along the lake. There are several good playgrounds for children. There is a path to walk the length of the park. Huge willows, line the drive. No camping, it is a recreational park for walkers, families, and I would guess boaters as ther is the marina.

By Nananina29 |

Went here with the family to spend some time before a wedding we had during the weekend. Park is very well kept, clean grounds, and very family friendly. There were many families enjoying the day having picnics and bbq's. There are a few children's areas with slides, monkey bars, swings etc. and one fairly large area for children with water attractions for them to run through.
Note: Bring plenty of sunscreen and bug repellent!!!
Also parking is not free.

By Alan M |

Wonderful views of the lake. Picnic lunch BBQ with all three day care programs was wonderful. Plenty of fresh air and sunshine. Perfectly wheelchair accessible for those of us with mobility restrictions. Great weather in June.

By nikonos3 |

This is supposed to be the deepest lake in New York state. Because of its depth, the US navy uses this place to evaluate their deep water devices. The view encompasses a large body of water that it allows you to appreciate the almost ocean-like view. Unlike the sea, the waters appear calmer with the not usual view of white caps that you typically see with most seascapes. This is a nice place to sit back and relax to enjoy the view. Something definitely worth visiting if you happen to be in the area

By Margaret V |

I think in the season this lake would be very popular. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of it the day we went.

By mkolvites |

We visited Seneca Lake State Park with our two young children and had a blast. They have one of the best playgrounds we've seen, and have a huge splashground that our kids loved! The splashground did get busy (it was a Saturday morning in the summer), but was plenty big to not feel overcrowded. It was very well maintained and provided a ton of fun -- we spent about an hour and half there, but probably could have stayed a lot longer. We also walked the hiking/biking trail around the lake for a while -- what beautiful views! We definitely enjoyed our day trip there.

By Mom21042 |

Perfect place to relax during our trip in New York state. This north end of the Seneca Lake is very shallow. We saw kids and teens playing in the lake and the water level was only half way to the knees. People can easily anchor their boat and walk in the water to shore. Some bathrooms even have shower facility. It seems to be a well-maintained park. Also we got there at 5:58pm and the young men at the gate told us that if we waited for a couple of minutes it would be free entrance to the park. People are so nice and honest. We love this place!

By Louise |

I had a nice short walk along the lake shore from Geneva and back again. I imagine it would be great with small kids as at the end there are a lot of picnic benches and a great looking play area. The walk was just up and down a tarmac road rather then small paths that created some kind of loop.

By Cherry_Wonderdog |

Gorgeous lake supremely situated in a moderately depressed town of Geneva, New York. It shot at us like an oasis after driving through a number of run down streets. There was a tourist center there, plenty of parking, a large new boardwalk leading to the water, and a wonderful walking / bike path for those wishing to conquer the circumference of the lake.

Unlike at Keuka Lake in Canandaigua, we could ride for miles around the lake and even pick up the Erie Canal Trail. The path was mostly paved, right along with water in plain view of boats and swimmers, and adjacent to parks with children and families.

Cherry Wonderdog gives it a strong two paws up.

By Stephen H |

Great place for dog walking. Safe and clean. Near stores and restaurants on exchange street. Good place to relax.

By Richele H |

Beautiful views, spotless grounds, and great pier! Make sure you try he nearby ice cream parlor, and take a long walk along the beach or the pier.

By Wilma M |

Easy walkway or bike path along the lake. Accommodates children and handicapped. Beautiful views of Seneca Lake. Large picnic area.

By Lyn B |

It’s a splash pad geared for kids but there were also teens and older women there, who apparently thought they could yell at kids for no reason. The “ guard” wasn’t very pleasant at all.
$8 for the beach was ok but I’ll never go to that splash pad again!!!! Auburns is a little smaller but much nicer and friendlier!!!!!

By peaut13 |

This is a beautiful park that winds along the willow lined shore of mostly undeveloped Seneca Lake. There is a Marina, a small beach, waterpark for children and multiple public barbecue pits. Unfortunately, the walking/bike path hasn't been paved in years and you can expect to get a pebble in your shoe or even stumble if you let your guard down. A water fountain that worked consistently would be nice. I walk there in the evenings and the place clears out faster than a NY minute at dusk because of safety concerns. Not a good vibe at all and something that could easily be fixed by having either a trooper or park worker present to reassure stragglers. Overall, nice but needs some effort and thought. I've seen parks like this in other states and cities and it could be packed with citizens.

By ktbeenthere2015 |

You came to the Finger Lakes for scenery and this is the place to enjoy it. Appropriate for strolling or watching the world. We were fortunate to be Mesmer by some kiteboarders in action given the wind was strong. Although there are many restaurants and wine bars, nearby, the park is a great place for a picnic with plenty of tables, shade, and chairs. The I Love NY sign makes a great first page photo for your album!

By Peter C |

Stayed at Ramada geneva on Seneca Lake. Went for a walk in the park each day seeing a groundhog each day. Ic cream at little shop was excellent

By lilnonna |

We visited as a couple and enjoyed the quiet time we had sitting and relaxing, watching the lake. We should have packed a picnic because the facilities were great. They have a beach area that was being worked on and we could not go in the lake because of algae. But they had a great splash park for kids. I recommend this park for both couples and families.

By C-Pat21 |

I visited the park with my 8 & 5 year old kids over the July 4th holiday. We went to enjoy a picnic, play on the sprayground and do some swimming.
Having visited many state parks, the entrance fee was no surprise and given what you get for it, I have no issue with it. We found plenty of picnic tables to choose from, no disappointment there. The main playground was also great. Lots of variety for the kids. There appears to be 2 other playgrounds under construction of some sort. Once open they look like they'd be a blast. The spay park was awesome. Kids couldn't get enough of it.
The one major disappointment was the beach area. Sand was more like dirt than sand. The water was filled with lake weeds. It was to the point where you couldn't avoid it. And as always the roped area for swimming was very small and shallow. This is standard practice at most parks, but doesn't make it acceptable for me.
Overall, a great place to visit with kids, just don't go for the beach and swimming or you will feel short changed.

By OurBestRoadTrips |

Just spent the day at the state park. Was ok. The bathrooms seemed dirty and there is no power at the pavilion. But there was lots of room and it was pretty clean. $7 per car to enter.

By dianefranciamajor |

Great spot, beach, spray park, picnic area..wonderful walking path, many miles long along the lake, very pretty

By 211brendat |

The park is in a wonderful setting. It is enjoyable for walks along the shore and for swimming. However, with all that space, it's a shame that there are no camping facilities.

By ARP_ARJP |

Pavilion 1 makes for a superb wedding reception venue... on the shores of Seneca Lake, childrens playground and toilets next door, we had it tastefully decorated, all benches/tables etc covered, roof lighting etc etc

By caoBurlingtonVermont |

Beautiful State Park. Very clean, well kept. Great place to take a walk with the dog along the lake or picnic etc.... Would highly recommend stopping here

By abilynsky |

Pictures of beach on website must have been 20 years old. There essentially is no beach!! Splashpad and playground for kids. Foul odor like sewage or garbage.

By L0ve_the_Lakes |

The marina and boat launch area is at the very end of the park. The boat launch has two ramps and plenty of parking for your trailer and tow vehicle. Some of the docks are newer. There's a small playground across from the boat launch which is good to occupy the kids while getting the boat ready or packing it up.

By RonL40 |

Great walk along the lakeside, plenty of things to do, places to eat and play. For those who want to do some hiking, nice trails that flank waterfalls, the lake, forests. One of the beautiful places in the Finger Lakes.

By Patrick S |

We came up to visit family on the Lake and fell in love with the area. We'll be back for sure. I give this town and area 5 stars.

By DaveThomasLeicester |

In the great American tradition if there is not a word for something then just make it up. No where is this more apparent than at weekends and holidays when Americans "recreate" with great gusto. One of the places they do this is In Their lovely state parks. My wife and I went to Seneca lake park for a picnic and witnessed mass "recreating" - family reunions, get togethers and just general having a great time. Americans do this well and the 7 dollars admission charge is well worth it next to this beautiful lake with great amenities.

By CabinFeverNY |

Nice walking/biking path along the lake. The beach area is pretty nasty and dirty. I wouldn't swim there or let my kids. There is a nice spraypark and playground for the kids. Lots of grills to cook on and pavillions to rent/reserve.

By Laurie P |

We stayed for 2 nights at the Hampton across the street. This park is perfect for a morning or evening walk...and we did both of those daily. Seneca Lake is very serene and calm.
Highly recommend for relaxation.

By Larry W |

I must admit that this probably wasn't my favorite park in the Finger Lakes area, but perhaps I didn't get around to enough of the grounds. This park is laid out in a fairly linear fashion, with walkways following the shore of Seneca Lake. The views of the lake are continuous and beautiful. However, in the area where I strolled there was very little in the way of facilities that you'd use outside of the pathway itself. I came across very little in the way of playgrounds for the kids, and really no ball fields or athletic grounds. I also found a number of benches where you could sit and admire the lake, but none of these took advantage of the wonderful shade trees that dotted the shoreline, so you will get hot in the summer months. I did come across a number of beautiful species of water birds, including several great blue herons, which soared close to the water while searching for fish.

Summarizing this park, I would gladly take another stroll along its shoreline for the view of the lake, but I would probably go elsewhere if accompanied by my family.

If you want a fabulous place to spend the day this is the spot!!! Walk, ride bike, soak in the rays and swim in this perfect lake!!! Grill out.... enjoy relax and tell your worries good bye! THIS IS A MUST DO IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA!!!!

By gr8Ny |

After a day on the lake we finished our day with a barbecue in the park. Beautiful views & outstanding playgrounds for the kids. Especially the sprinkler Park. If you are in the finger lake's with kids definitely put this on your itinerary,

By minhnvu2014 |

This is a park fronting the north end of Seneca Lake close to town and the visitor's center. The lake front road called Willow Dr. is quite pretty and has many willows planted along the lake. There are nice picnic tables underneath some of these trees which make for a great spot for an al fresco meal. We were biking and headed off to the left of the car entrance towards the beach and water park area. That area smelled like sewage the whole time though I think it may have been decaying plant material that created the smell. The beach had a lot of green stuff washed ashore which may have caused the smell. Whatever it was, it was not pleasant. However, the area closer to the car entrance is not smelly. Bottom line: not a bad place to walk or jog on a pretty day.

By Kmckenny |

Gorgeous lake! Lovely beach, concession stands, bathrooms. Lots of amenities for boaters and fishers. Water park kiddie area is great

Visited last summer, not reviewed.
This is a very cool park. The splash pad is awesome for kids and the playgrounds are fun too.
We had a great time there.

Beautiful park with views and access to shore lake front. Paved paths to walk along Seneca Lakefront.

Went to Seneca Lake State Park with my daughters and 3 grandkids age 3 years, 19 months and 5 months old. The entrance fee is $8 per car. The parking was good, the bathroom, shower and changing area was very clean. The sprayground was so much fun for the kids along with the playground area that has so many different activities. The beach area was clean and swimming for little ones is perfect due to the shallow water for a long distance. There are many shaded picnic areas with picnic tables and grills available. You need to bring garbage bags with you to take all your trash with you. I will definitely be going back!

By Angelize1999 |

Beach is gross. Sticks and trash all over. Spray park is fun for the kids, but you don't want to swim in their lake water. Smells and is so dirty.

By debbil53 |

My husband and I visited the state park in the evening! The sun was starting to set and the water was splashing. It was absolutely beautiful. We walked the trail for at least a mile. What a great way to end the trip.

By CLLJJR |

This park is at the top of the lake and there is a watercraft condessionaire near the park entrance. The lake was warm in summer, and not very deep. We could see the bottom out in the middle of the lake. We did not see many fish :(. We paddled on a weekday and had a relaxing time, few power boats to contend with. The rental price was reasonable and at 9:00 AM there were plenty of watercraft available.

By valentinolinda4 |

I could not believe that the beach part of this lake smelled so bad it smelled like poop the state of new york should be ashame of themselves. They need to clean this state park.

By 371marybethp |

Great walking paths and scenery surrounding the lake. The staff is always friendly. Pavillions are available to rent, the playground and spray park are family friendly and clean.

By World Traveller |

Seneca Lake State Park is a beautiful park on the water. There is a walking track and a very short bike trail. I rode from end to end and the distance was just under 6 miles. Nice spot for a picnic.

By Rita C |

This park was clean, beautiful and fun if you were walking or jogging. We thought we would be able to ride our bikes on a path there. Most of the path was a street which needed much improvement to ride on. We did enjoy our brief visit there.

By 280shay |

Lots of great photo ops with recent upgrades. Beautiful views, walking distance to shops & food/bars. Playground, ice cream stand in summer. Great spot to spend an afternoon for a leisurely walk or an after dinner walk with children/pets.

By 4pattyc |

We looked around for a place to have lunch where we could bring our own food. We were on a wine tour and it was a little windy on the lake. The women that were there were so friendly and opened the room for us. It was beautiful overlooking the water and away from the elements. Beautiful place for a gathering!

My boyfriend, dog, and I always make this a must do while we are in Geneva while shopping.
It's a beautiful park and the upkeep is very nice.
Been several times for a picnic, walk, family reunion and, virtual 5K. It is nice to have a park so close and so big that no matter where you go and how busy it is it is never crowded.

By DL on a River |

Enjoyed the beaches, driving around and seeing the park views of the lake and a enjoyed a family gathering at Pavilion #2. It was wonderful to be right next to the playground for kids and restrooms. There were plenty of tables and benches and lots of room to BBQ and set out our food.

By mwight |

The splash park was a hit with the grandsons, as were the 3 separate playgrounds within easy walking from the splash park. Concession stand was closed for the season (if it ever opened) and the splash park opens at 11am (not known before we got there at 9:30am). Better advertising of these details would have helped greatly.

Such a beautiful park and lake. Very clean and peaceful. Would recommend spending the day there.

They're also dog friendly.

The entire foot of Seneca Lake is a park. the city park connects with the state park. When ever I visit Geneva, I like to throw on my skates and roller blade the parks. The pavement is a little rough in parts of the park and is tough skating at times but the views are worth the effort! At any given time you will see the locals jogging, fishing, boating and swimming. There are picnic shelters for groups to rent and plenty of open space. There are boat launches and a nice beach. If you drive to the park there is a charge. I usually stay at the Ramada Inn-the only commercial establishment on this part of the lake. You can park in one of the city lots for free and walk to the state park. I noticed a cute water park near the beach.

By Gabriella Goodwin |

You can see the whole city's lights at night along the lake and get a view of Seneca Lake from the mouth and enjoy all this walk has to offer. It is clean and many people walk and run on it all day.

We had brunch at one of the pavilions the morning after our son's wedding at Zugibe Vineyards. Staff at the park were very friendly. Pavilion and bathrooms were clean. Very nice setting.

Seneca Lake State Park is great to have a picnic, walk or bike the path or just sit on the grass and watch the water.

By Chris D |

The Seneca Lake State Park isn't a hiking trail or anything like that, so understand what you're going for here - it's a chill, relaxed lakeside park which has a sprayground, some walking/running trails (paved), a playground and some tables to sit down at. Highly recommend it as a morning stop where you can sit down with a breakfast sandwich either at a table or picnic style and let the kids go to town on the playground. I wouldn't say there's a ton of value for adults without children given there are so many other parks and hiking trails to explore in the region that are more involved, but to each their own. For kids, the sprayground is only open on weekends as far as we could tell, but there weren't any posted hours, just some info I found which looked somewhat outdated online, so if that's the lure on this, I'd check ahead.

What a beautiful park, drive along the shore or walk, look at boats in the marina or play in the playground. Clean bathrooms and so many options for sitting and relaxing or walking and gazing at that view,

By Maps676202 |

Had a wonderful lunch by the lake. PArk was very well maintained. Views of Seneca lake were awesome. Will be back

By AldebaranFlorida |

This is a very nice park to spend a day with your family, particularly with small children. There is a nice playground and water jet area, small beach, and ample room and facilities for picnics. You can dock a boat for short or longer terms. Fees vary depending on the time of year and activities. There is no camping at this park. If you are interested in camping, I suggest you consider Cayuga Lake State Park near Seneca Falls, which is very nice.

By CEG310 |

This is such a lovely spot and the perfect spot to walk the dog while enjoying the view. Lots of available picnic spaces and the park is clean and well maintained.

By Kj W |

My family visited this park in July 2016. It was a hot, sunny day. The splash park was great for children five and under.
It was clean and refreshing. The lake was not ideal. It was not what we had expected. It is very shallow in the swimming area. Less than three feet deep in the deepest part. The lake had a mucky bottom, that had a strong odor. The children described the lake as very squishy, even with water shoes on. I would not recommend this park for swimming laps, it was great for the views.

Poised on the waters of Seneca Lake – it provides an expansive setting which encompasses one of the massive Finger Lakes. It offers a sprawling and spacious park to enjoy and soak in the sites and sun. I have been numerous times – all times of the year. My latest visit was on a chilly December day – but I still ventured out for a jog and later a walk along the shore. It offers plenty of space to toss a blanket and enjoy a picnic with friends, couples or family. A large pavilion which includes a visitor center with loads of information and refreshments. It is currently (December 2017) under construction and should be ready for the summer. There is a beach area for swimming and playing as well. The lake is clean and provides amazingly beautiful views year round. During the summer it is providing a floating playground for boats, kayakers, paddle boarders, etc. Plenty of parking to be found and easy access. A short walk (2 blocks) to downtown Geneva shops, restaurants and stores. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy all that this region of New York has to offer – as well as, a wonderful park to enjoy! Cheers!

So disappointing that the swimming beach was closed and dirty. That park should be such a huge asset to the community. They just don't do enough. It feels so tired.

Seneca Lake State Park is one of the many New York State parks. This one is located just outside Geneva at the north end of Seneca Lake. The park is very well maintained and is in a beautiful location. There are numerous restaurants, hotels, and attractions nearby (including many wineries) making this a perfect spot to spend a vacation day.

By House Of Stark |

We were here the last weekend in June. We did not realize that you can't swim here. They do have a 'slash ground" for the little kids. Nice picnic area but there were a lot of dead fish in the water and on the shore. I recommend Sampson State Park instead.

By Sabre4 |

Lots of walkways along the lake, with great views. Play area and spray park for kids, large marina, but that's about it. Roads through park are horrendously pot-holed and deteriorated. Needs a lot or work.....

By NANCY K |

I love the Finger Lakes area! We stayed in a VRBO house very near Geneva. We toured several wineries and visited the Watkins Glen State Park

By Ken S |

Beautiful location at the north end of Seneca Lake, the largest of the Finger Lakes in Central/Western NY. If you're a boater, it gives you great access to the lake. There are camping, picnicking, and recreation areas in the park, as well. It's very convenient to Geneva NY for "night life" (of a sort, since it's a college town), and to all the great wineries on the east and west shores of the lake.

By Dcp17 |

We really enjoyed the views at the Seneca Lake state park. A perfect place to take pictures and go for a walk.

By sjsmews |

We had a family reunion in August and the park was very nice and the pavilions were clean and appreciated for coverage/shelter.

By John I |

We paid the $7 admission fee and found a nice tree to park under. The spray pool was totally packed on a 90+ degree day. Plenty of shade with most of the shaded picnic tables taken. Wife decided to try the relatively small beach. First thing you notice is the collection or rocks and stones that populate the first 20 feet of water. Hard to navigate without shoes. After that, the water remains shallow for at least 100 feet. Beautiful for a cooling experience. I wonder why the state could not rake this area of stones and make the beach sandy throughout. if you don't own a boat, at least you can watch them from here. Glad we went.

By NYDoc |

Pretty views of the lake. Flat so an easy walk on sidewalks.Had to go back and forth on same back, that's a bit of a drawback.

By NoRestForTheWeary |

I live in Geneva, and usually visit the park on my bike, riding the whole way from the path that begins just south of the Ramada all the way to the marina at the park's opposite end. It's great for walking, biking, jogging. I have also been to a couple of parties held in the pavilions, at least some of which include fireplaces, making them a nice option for spring/fall gatherings. It's a lovely park, and there are lots of ducks, geese, and the occasional heron to see by and on the lake. If you're visiting, it's a really lovely place to relax -- and generally I feel very safe there, because there are usually plenty of people around, without it being crowded or unpleasant.

By Emilee A |

Really easy to get to from anywhere in the town, beautiful views, nice paths, trees, and benches. Loved it

By m s |

paths are nice and flat...and scenic with the lake. came for a run at 6am and there were a few others running as well. plenty of cross walks from town center and my hotel.

By Kelly W |

My family had a small reunion here at the park. Although none of the shelters were available for the day we were looking for (call ahead!!) we were told that if we came early in the morning, we may be able to get the area near the children's water park which has a really nice 'shelter' and move some picnic tables around the area and use the bbq grills located close by, it was PERFECT! The lake has a nice beach area and walking trail. The parking was the only fee we paid.

By Rtk |

What a wonderful place to spend the day. Find a picnic table and have lunch looking out at beautiful Seneca lake, or bring a chair and just enjoy sitting under one of the enormous trees lining the shore. You can also walk or bike the paved trail that curves around the shoreline. If you have children, they'll enjoy the splash park, which also is adjacent to a full snack bar. A very pet friendly park, with dog waste stations throughout.

By Audrey H |

Before attending the wedding we went walking along the water. Was a little windy but was very nice. lots of people walking and riding bikes.

By Mary Beth P |

Walking from the Long Pier down the path to the state park and back is over 5 miles. The Ramada hotel is at the beginning of the path and you can walk down into Seneca Lake State park and use the facilities - shelters, restrooms, playgrounds, a spray park and beach.

By Maria C |

I don't have young children any longer, but would recommend this for families. There were several play ground areas and a spray park for kids. Plenty of picnic tables and grills around for families wishing to spend the day. Restrooms and a concession stand are located close to the spray park. My husband and I enjoyed lying on the beach area near the lake. We also biked from the new Lakefront Park to the Cayuga Seneca canal trail that is now accessible through the park.

By mapa |

This is a beautiful park. you can come by car, boat, bike etc. lots of picnic tables. great fun for the family

By Mary O |

This a nice park with a lot of land. They have a beach. There is a paved walkway right by the water that goes into downtown Geneva. They have pavilions and a boat launch and boat docking. Frisbee golf. No camping that I am aware of. You do pay around $7 to get in.

By roselevis53 |

The only downside to this was the weather. Other than that, it is beautiful! I will definitely be visiting again, probably in the summer!

By we4singalto |

It was a very cold and snow covered roads adventure. The lake was neat to see in these conditions, especially with a flock of ducks still swimming around. I'm sure this is a beautiful place to see in summer, which we never experienced. The sun was out, so it created some neat picture taking opportunities.

By Ian W |

Nice big playground with spray park. Beach is kind of cruddy but better than most finger lakes beaches. Nifty large shelters for parties or family reunions.

By preciousness22 |

Seneca Lake is a gorgeous park located in Geneva, NY. The park is expansive and offers great views of Seneca Lake. It is a great place to site see while in the area.

By emiliebolduc11 |

This state park is nice and there's a lot of space for people to have picnics and bbqs with friends and family. The view of the lake is very nice and there is a sidewalk next to the lake to walk and enjoy the view. The only thing is the parking fee (7$) is a little high compared to other parks I've been to in the Finger Lakes area that were prettier.

By Jerry W |

Nice breeze off the lake on a hot day.Watched the windsurfers.
Read the historical plaques during the lakeside walk.

By PTycz |

Stopped here for about half hour. There were nice paths along the water to stroll around and view the lake.

By David E |

Workers we encountered and locals were very friendly. Walked along Lake Seneca each night after some heavy duty wine tasting and was extremely relaxing with awesome weather, again locals we met were very friendly and nice to talk to.

By Jerry Z |

Took a 45 minute ride to have our grandkids have fun at the splash ground. We arrived and there was no power so no splashing. Waited 2 hours, had lunch, still no power so we came home. At least we got in free being a NY senior on Mondays - Thursdays. The nearby beach was not an attractive swimming place. No sand, just dirt and the water had a distinct odor. The lake is very beautiful.

By Barbara H |

Made a quick stop at the State Park while in Geneva. Beautiful location. Well maintained. Highly recommend.

By Jim K |

this is a very nice state park. the park is free but if you drive past the booth you have to pay for parking. this has a Spray Park area that is great for kids ! this park is very big and you can walk along the shoreline of the lake. this park also have a swimming area that has a life guard on duty so it's great for adults and kids too. from this park you have a great view of the lake and it is a great place to relax . I recommend this state park

By NCLoggerheads |

This is a lovely place for an early morning or sunset walk. You can walk or run for miles! There's plenty of free parking, a snack shack with hot dogs and ice cream, access to hotels, and probably a public event underway.

By jim shepard |

Great for kids, picnic, dog walk.
Full playground for kids. Plenty of open space.
$7 per car for parking after 9.

By nomorefromme |

Great park.
The welcome center is a must stop.
Lots of information about the area. Helpful staff. Very nice facility. Oh, and great coffee.
This is one of the nicest state facilities I've been in.
"Well done" New York!

By Cherith K |

The state Park is a wonderful peaceful place. It has a spray pad & large playgrounds for the children. Pavilions & lots of space to spread out. Enjoy the lake, relax in the shade, a great day trip for $8.

By Queenofdenial |

Very nice area for boating, picnicking, swimming, fishing etc. My grandson loves the spray park here. There is a fee to park. The Empire passport is accepted here for parking.

By fingerlakessue |

Safe and convenient areas to bike, walk with a group and explore. Small play area for children near the beach open during summer. Pavilions available for gatherings of family & friends and convenient/clean rest rooms. Lawn area in park often used for informal soccer and other games.

We were at Seneca Lake in State Park mid-October and enjoyed walking along the lake with an unobstructed view of the beautiful lake. The walk went from a playground area all the way to the visitor center in Geneva. People were also biking and roller skating in the area. The park is large with sports fields and places to gather or picnic. The day we went to the park there was no one at the entrance booth to pay an entrance fee.
