This was our last stop of a long day of wine tasting. Usually, our palates are tired by the end of the day, so we honestly weren't expecting to be wowed. On my first taste of their current release sauvignon blanc, I was blown away, and I'm usually not a big fan of sauvignon blancs. We went on to taste their chardonnay, red blend, and cab and liked everything, which is really unusual for me.
We were fortunate to be the only ones at the bar during our tasting and Chiree was kind enough to let us try some other wines to compare with the current releases. Great personal service and we can't wait for our shipment to arrive. Thanks Chiree for your hospitality!

If you want one of the best tasting experiences you are ever going to have, do the Cabernet Paring Challenge at Sequoia Grove with Dean. He gives a great in depth overview of what foods should be pared with Cabernet and why. They break you down into teams and then the teams compete to build the best paring for the Cabernet they are pouring. It is the most fun you can have with friends or with other couples. On top of that, the Sequoia Grove wines are outstanding, the people there are very welcoming and it is a very laid back experience which was just perfect for us. I highly recommend that if you go, you try all of their high end wines as they are as good as any others in the Napa Valley. I would also recommend that you spend the time with Dean as he is a great ambassador for the Napa Valley and Sequoia Grove and he is just really fun to be around. This is one winery that is always on my agenda when I visit Napa. It is hard not to like drinking great wine with great people. My thanks to Dean for a wonderful experience.

We've been advised that the Sequoia Grove Winery was excellent, so we were disappointed when we found a crowded tasting area with insufficient attention to explaining the wines to the visitors. The problem didn't seem to be the Sequoia personnel as much as the rowdy over-wined visitors. We did not do all we could to find an attentive server, so next time if we go there, we will talk with someone who can give us more personal treatment.

My Wife and I took part in a very interesting event at Sequoia Grove Winery. It was called the Cabernet Culinary Challenge. We actually competed against another couple in paring food with the wines. Our Host Dean explained the contest, gave us a wonderful history lesson of the Napa Region, and also a quick experiment to get us ready for the contest. A ton of fun, very educational, great wine, a small lunch and most of all some wonderful stories. Dean was so much fun as our Tour de Force Cabernet Challenge Mediator. High recommend to anyone that would like to have a one of a kind wine tasting experience.

We have visited Sequoia Grove many times and have been wine club members for many years. We just a got back from another great visit to the Napa valley and had a great time. Everything was open and as excellent as ever. Now is the time to visit Napa valley. The leaves were beautiful. I would encourage anyone thinking of taking a trip to the valley to plan to do it soon and be sure to visit Sequoia Grove. The best wine and the most welcoming people!

An unpretentious winery with a dynamite line up of red and white wines. This was our 3rd visit to Napa/Sonoma but we'd never heard of Sequoia Grove before. The staff were very personable and knowledgeable about their wines, the property and the area. We'll be back and next time we'll do the food pairing!

For some reason, I pictured this in my mind as a little farm house in the woods, but it is just off of the main drag in Napa. One of the best parts about it is the giant sequoia trees on the property. They are impressive. The tasting room is small with no where to sit, but the wines were pretty good, and our server was very knowledgeable about them. We purchased a couple of bottles to take with us and a miniature Giant Sequoia sapling to take home and plant. Of the five wineries we visited on our two day trip to Sonoma and Napa, this was probably our least favorite. I would skip it next time and try someplace else that's new to us.

This place continues to produce fantastic wines with the Cambium, Stagecoach and Tonella single vinyard cabs, as well as the Rutherford Bench Reserve. You just can’t go wrong if you like big and bold. Always a favorite stop during our tours of Napa. Happy to say also, there was no fire damage and the grounds are a beautiful as ever. See you again soon!!!

Sequoia Grove, a family-owned winery founded in 1979, is known for its big-boy elegant Cabernet Sauvignon. But it was the towering sequoia trees that caught my attention when we arrived. What a beautiful park-like setting to enjoy these beautiful wines! Oscar, our wine host, walked us through a tasting that included such standouts as the 2016 Stagecoach Cab and 2016 Cab Franc.

Lisa was our amazing host our afternoon at Sequoia Grove winery! I was researching for my guides and I *more places that include fabulous food with local wine when I stumbled on SG. I have been spreading the word verbally to our guests and my friends ever since our wonderful lunch. The wine was superb and the food creative. My favorite was the beet gnocchi dish and I took home a bottle of the beautiful Cab Franc. I highly recommend!

Chef Britney Sundin Maureze has outdone her self in pairing fabulous food with their stunning wines. Each of the five parings was eye watering good, somehow improving upon their already wonderful wines. Can’t wait to take friends and encourage others to go. Lisa, our host was fun, knowledgeable and knew when to talk and when t o just leave us alone to savor each course. The food pairings were more than bites, but not a full meal. Although, I don’t feel the need to eat again for a good long while.

My wife and I visited in August of this pat year and had a less than memorable experience. We were travelling alone on our anniversary and were trying to pace ourselves with our tastings. When the server heard we were only doing one flight, she became annoyed and proceeded to dole out amounts that would have struggled to fill up a thimble. About half way through our tasting a loud group arrived in a limo and she then ignored us for the next 10 minutes, I had to go track her down and ask for our last two wines. Might have been a bad day or bad time, but we had such good experiences at all the other wineries we went to, I would not go back here.

Oscar was our wine guide and he was lovely and fun to talk to. We had some great small bites he recommended. Big sell was that it paired well with wine. (I didn’t think it did the trick personally)
It was a Sunday afternoon and they might have been short staffed but had to wait a bit longer for each of our pours compared to other vineyards we went to.
Pretty grounds but no one was in love with the wine. This was nice for a chill afternoon hanging out in the garden, but if you are looking for the best wines in the valley maybe skip. :/

So happy my favorite winery is there as beautiful as ever. My favorite place to visit. So welcoming. And the reds are fabulous!

We had a group stop for a "Wine Pairing" experience. Tasting wines with different kind of bite-sized food. We were all surprised to learn and understand how much impact foods have on the taste of wine. The myth of Red with meat, White with chicken and fish was dispelled and replaced with better reasons for the choices. It was my first time to Sequoia Grove, I loved the wine (spent too much money) and made converts to the label back home. With all that, the best part of the experience was the people who hosted us, and served us. Joyful, knowledgeable and just fun. Thanks Sequoia Staff!

Enjoyed the five course lunch created by Britny Sundin Maureze, a CIA grad. Each course explained with a wonderful wine pairing. Beautiful new room for lunch. Won't find food much better than this!

First time visit to this winery. Went with my daughter and her boyfriend who happen to be wine club members. We brought in our own food and had a nice picnic in the tasting outdoor area and had an awesome afternoon. The staff couldnt have been more accomodating and friendly. As if thats not enough the wine is excellent.

Sequoia Grove Winery has long been one of our favorite of all wineries. The wine is spectacular and the employees treat everyone like family. Recently I had the privilege of experiencing their new Wine and Food pairing and it was amazing! Not only was the food and wine perfectly matched and delicious, it was so educational as well. I can't say enough. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Napa. The experience itself is about an hour and a half so, however, you can plan on being at the winery for at least 2hrs. They will ask you to arrive 15 minutes early so as to start on time. Then you will need to leave yourself time to decide which wines to order and take home. My recommendation: take them all...you won't regret it! Finally, come with an appetite as you will leave feeling full, happy and satisfied.

My wife and I have been coming to Sequoia Grove for years and continue to be impressed. Their wines are all top quality at a very reasonable price point. Their high end cabs are every bit as good as those sold at other wineries for 50-100 premium. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. For a really unique experience, ask about a tasting with Dean. There is a cost, but it's well worth it. One of the most educational and fun encounters you can have in the Napa Valley.

I first visited Sequoia Grove shortly after it opened - one barn/winery/tasting room, and two wines - cabernet and chardonnay. Humble, but fantastic wines. Shortly after my visit I moved to LA, and was unable to return to the winery for 24 years. I was, however, considered some sort of wine whisperer in LA, when all I ever really did was look for Sequoia Grove in the wine list.
I moved back up to NorCal in late 2014, and took my cousin and his wife, on vacation from Alabama, on their first CA wine tasting trip. Sequoia Grove was our first stop, and essentially our last. We visited a few more wineries, but after Sequoia Grove, our hearts weren't in it..... My cousin declared that this was the only winery he's ever visited at which he liked every wine he tasted. This included several wines, both red and white - by then, the menu had expanded considerably beyond their initial Cabernet-Chardonnay lineup.
For me, Sequoia Grove was better than I remembered. The buildings were newer (but still incorporated the original barn), and the wines more diverse. The people were welcoming attentive, and ridiculously nice. Sequoia Grove hasn't lost it place as my favorite winery, and my favorite wines!

A hidden gem of a winery that has some amazing wines, you wont be disappointed! You must try their flagship sequoia grove cambium, an amazing example of their work! Their single vineyard wines are some of our favorite go-to's to keep and share from our cellar.

We were very lucky twice this morning: first, grapes were harvested and had just arrived and second, our tour guide was Dean and this was a real treat! Professional, friendly and knowledgeable he guided us during the tasting opening every niche in the art if drinking wine!
Great educational and learning experience! Thank you!!!!

This was our first stop of many wine tasting rooms. Christi led us with her knowledge and gentle persuading for my husband to try whites. She turned us on to many varietals. Her enthusiasm for the job was infectious. The tasting room was very tasteful and welcoming.

We stopped here for a quick wine tasting. We just noticed it was we were driving by and decided to stop in. We were on our honeymoon, and the woman who did our tasting was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to tell us all about the wines without making us feel pressured to buy or to like everything. She even helped us purchase a special shipping container to bring all of our wine home. Great place, definitely a must stop!

We came in for a tasting and ended up becoming members, Eric did our tastings and he was amazing. Mid way through our tasting the winemaker Molly joined us and she was awesome!!!! They both explained all varietals and made it just an incredible experience!!!

I went for the Chef's tasting experience and am completely blown away! This little winery has the best wines in the area and so homey/ relaxed for a perfect wine vacation.

We signed up for the Tast of Cab class that was set up for 8 people. However, the day we reserved we were the only couple and had our own tasting of Sequoia Grove's wonderfully well balanced wines.

Was our first stop on this trip to Napa - we were part of a group that had a private tasting and the experience was top notch from learning about the various types of soil the grapes are grown in to tasting GREAT wines. Our hosts were very knowledgeable and had great pride in their product. They were also a lot of fun to work with! We joined their wine club and have enjoyed their wines immensely to the point of ordering an additional case for the Thanksgiving holiday. We would highly recommend a visit here and are so glad to know they've made it through the tragic fires and are up and running. Don't miss out on this one, a winner on our list!

Now is the time to visit Sequoia Grove......of course the wine is amazing but the people and the winery make for an outstanding visit. Highly recommend!

Nice staff very informative about the wines. I really like this wine so had to visit, glad I did. Nothing fancy compared to some of the other vineyards we visited, none the less very nice winery!

We visited Sequoia Grove as the first winery of a weekend long trip to Napa. It was recommended to us by family members who'd been and raved about the outdoor setting. Well it was pouring down rain so that isn't what sold us, it was the warm hello and immediately friendly welcome we got from Ryan. Like I said, this was our first tasting on our first trip to Napa and he made it so much fun. He taught us about all of the appellations and some of the history of the Valley, he gave us great recommendations for other wineries and places to eat--and shared some great wine with us. We hadn't quite gotten the lay of the land yet and didn't buy a bottle that day BUT once we decided to buy a case of wine from all of the different wineries we visited over the weekend and ship it home, we made a point to stop back in on Monday and grab a bottle of the Cab. Can't wait to drink it and remember the fun time we had in the SG tasting room.

If you have ever visited the Napa area for wine tasting you quickly realize that there are two types of vendors in the area. Those that provide lavish amenities on site to attract you and those that concentrate on making good wine. Sequoia Grove is one that just makes good wine. Right off the main drag, it's easy to pass along so many options. But, next time make a point of stopping here for Napa Valley at it's best. Great wine, plenty of varietals, good people and best of all, affordable premium wine. Be prepared to be impressed!!

We were introduced to Sequoia Grove by a friend in the wine business and have been fans ever since. We are wine club members and love these wines. The tasting room staff is always friendly and we always recommend Sequoia Grove as a must for anyone traveling to Napa. We are looking forward to our next visit later this month.

Mark your calendars for the Lobster Fest at Sequoia Grove in Autumn, or any other food/wine pairing opportunities they provide.

If you love nature, this is the winery for you... I love sequoia trees and the rustic feel of this winery.., sit in the patio by the sequoias, best spot in the house . Their wine is amazing too

The staff from the moment we arrived were amazing and looking to ensure we had the best possible experience. Cait was extremely knowledgable about the wine and even helped us finalize plans for other visits during the day (she was spot on with all recommendations). The grounds were beautiful with giant sequoias present making them very different than other vineyard grounds. Their Cab was very good and my wife liked the Chardonnay as well. I will definitely be back on my next visit and would consider the club if I weren't already a member at more than I should be! Great place with great wine!

This was one of the best wine tasting experience i have had in a very long time. The Service was so perfect.

We visited this winery per a recommendation from the concierge at the Vintage Inn in Yountville. This is a boutique winery with great wines and an even better wine club. They are very friendly, offer big wines which blew us away and their prices are very competitive. You won't be disappointed.

We visited during the pandemic and enjoyed the wine tasting outside in the lawn area. The wines were great. Every member of the staff we encountered, including on the phone and in person, was disinterested, unfriendly and seemed bothered to have to deal with us. One member of the party was rudely reprimanded and embarrassed by staff because she turned the wrong way while looking for the bathroom. We visited a dozen wineries while in Napa, and this was the worst experience. We won't return.

Absolutely loved our visit to Sequoia Grove. It's the only membership I signed up for on my trip that I still have a year later. The wine is amazing, the facility is beautiful and the private lesson we took was very fun!

My wife and I visited this winery and were very happy we did. The customer service is remarkable and the wine quality is top notch.

We tend to buy their cabs for entertaining, always great. When in Napa we decided to visit the vineyard. Lisa our hostess was amazing - funny, knowledgeable and friendly. Had a great hour tasting the various wines and learning about the winery. If you buy 3 wines they waive the tasting fee, so great way to take some home or back to your hotel.

What was supposed to be a quick tasting stop to finish the day turned into a 2 hour adventure! Lisa was a great hostess who took the time to answer our questions, give us the history of both the winery and the Rutherford area, and some good eating options. The wines are complex & highly drinkable.

First, and formost I would say this was our favorite visit of the 8 we visted while in Napa. First understand we chose a wine and food pairing which was pricey but worth. Food included Halibut, Duck, Pork etc. Natalie, our Hostess met us with a glass of white wine and then showed us to our table, where with each wine there was an exclamation(short) about the wine itself and the type of food that goes best. We were thrilled that they presented a red wine with the Halibut as we are 99 percent red wine lovers. The food was great , but then came the dilemma. They are pricey and this was only our second visit. So out of the three we finally got their flagship wine, Cambium but if we had unlimited funds we could have gone with The Cabernet, and the Cabernet Franc also Natalie it was a pleasure( and we almost came back for the Cabernet Franc.

We love red wines and this was a wonderful stop made better by our Guest Relations rep Sarah, who took our experience here up to the next level. Everything was perfect, took our last sip of wine outside to a lovely patio they have and enjoyed Sequoia Grove for every moment we were there!

Love wine but wanted to learn more. We made reservations for the Taste for Cabernet experience, and loved it. Dean explained the different terroirs in the region, explained how the different soils and microclimates effect the wine, and walked us through a variety of wines. Then, through pairings with foods, he showed us what does and does not pair with cabernet - and why. Loved the wines. Loved the education. Loved the setting - and had a picnic lunch on the patio after the tasting. If you want to taste great wines and learn a ton, I HIGHLY recommend this. It was definitely the most educational experience we had in Napa Valley.

We visited on an afternoon in Rutherford. It was a great stop with friendly service and knowledge. The setting is beautiful. We were slightly rushed with an appointment to get to; next time we'll plan to stay longer.

Excellent food and wine pairings, wines are very good and the chef did a great job creating innovative food pairings. Host was very informative are offered additional wine during the experience

We did a private tasting with Dean and it was hands down our best tasting experience of the trip. He was passionate about the wine and very well informed. His food pairing demonstration that shows you why some food destroys wine was mind blowing. The ability to experience the food with the wine first hand was fascinating. If in Napa you have to check this out. Also, the wine was spectacular, as was the room, the setting, etc.

Our group of six had a great day at Sequoia Grove. They are friendly, provide interesting wine advice, and pour a full range of wines including high end Cabernays. Matt, Christie, Tom and Jack the dog were great hosts!

Visited on a Sunday afternoon after placing a reservation over the phone.
My friends and I were greeted by very friendly staff and we were seated in a really nice shaded open area. Mason was our host and his service was excellent - giving really good informative introductions to each of the wines we tasted.
The overall experience was positively warm and I look forward to returning after signing up as a club member!

First visit to Napa and we chose this winery based on reviews. We did the taste of Cabernet pairing and absolutely enjoyed the experience. We were with one other “foodie” couple and truly enjoyed the tour, experience, and setting. Nikki(Nicki?) our tasting tour guide was exceptional and she communicated the wine / food experience with skill based on her culinary education. A must do when in Napa. The wines are fantastic, the setting beautiful, and the food/engagemwnr is everything you want for your $$. A+ rating from an east coast foodie/wine snob!

Mark guided us through a delicious and tasty experience here- our first time at the lovely back outdoor patio with a gas fireplace in the middle for a chilly day. It was a rear shaded patio- we had it alone!
The wines are exceptional as usual, but my big surprise was being able to eat a meatball!!
Never, ever has that been possible as a gluten free person, and I must commend the new chef, Bryce Palmer, for using gf breadcrumbs to accommodate people like me. So I’ve put the word out! Come to love every drop of the wine, meet Mark, sit on comfortable couches and be able to have a delicious GF meatball along the way!!

Lisa and Chef Britany did a wonderful job pairing the food and wine. Of all the places we visited on our Napa Trip this was our favorite.

Sequoia Grove Winery is truly the best winery in Napa Valley. From the moment you step through the front door the experience is magical. What makes this winery so amazing is the combination of great wines, great food and great people! Recently my sisters and I took part in the Food and Wine Experience. Everything about this tasting was perfect. I can't say enough. You must try it yourself. You will not leave disappointed.

Happen to visit Napa right during the fires and we were so worried for all our favorite places, good to know that everything is alright at Sequoia Grove. I love this wonderful winery and am a wine club member living in Ohio and am excited when I receive my wine shipments. The winery is very cool, the people are awesome, and the wine is delicious! Make sure you check out Sequoia Grove, you won’t be disappointed

My friends and I spent the afternoon with Dean for an educational and delicious experience. What a treat!! You will learn so much and enjoy your time guaranteed!

Unbelievable wines, amaze with the quality and taste, thank you for let us see the bottling process and to share the excellent experience with Sequoia Grove wines!

Fabulous wine tasting in an interesting tasting room with rustic decor and an extremely well informed young server (the most informed, friendly and helpful we met in six vineyard tasting rooms ) he knew his wines, was clearly passionate about them and keen to share his knowledge. He gave us a couple of extra wines as we were interested but did not push wine purchases on us. Wines very pleasant and thanks to our server we all bought more than planned!
Had a nice range of interesting and quality gifts too.Charged tasting fees of $25 for three of us and discounted two on purchases - best deal of the day.
Highly reccomended.

We have been going to Napa for several years and have belonged to several wine clubs. This was the first one I joined about 20 years ago and they are FANTASTIC. Every time we visit they have done something special for us to really make us feel important to them.
Tasting room is lovely, people are just incredible and the wines are superb. I have always thought they made the best Cab in the valley at their different price points.
Looking forward to our next visit

This was our second visit to the Sequoia Grove tasting room. Both visits, we have been hosted by Chiree Dilley. Chiree is excellent at describing the wines and making suggestions on what we would enjoy. This tasting room is small and intimate...makes you feel very at home. Make this a stop on your next visit!

We had received 2 for one tasting coupons at the Napa Valley welcome center. We did our tasting in their garden and brought a lunch with us from the Oakville Grocery. The gardens are very nice, relaxing and shaded. The wines were all good but not great for our pallet. The staff was pleasant but we wouldn't say friendly. They seemed flustered when their wine bar inside was full. They sold some great wine barrel trays in their gift area.

We had an excellent wine tasting experience at Sequoia Grove. JJ provided the tastings and she was very knowledgeable about the wines she was pouring. The wines were excellent! We will definitely be back!

We have toured countless wineries in BC and Napa and can honestly say that the wine education and tasting with Dean was the best! Dean guides you through the tasting in a comfortable manner without pre tense. He makes the whole experience what it should be - Enjoyable!

We had a bachelorette party planned for nine women and we drove all the way from Sacramento only to pull up and have the winery cancel on us 20 minutes before our reservation. The manager offered no accommodations for the rude inconvenience. All he said was “we’re closed” and gave us his card and said we can come back another time, as if we would want to. What an extremely disappointing and disrespectful experience.

Beautiful grove of sequoia trees that you can see a mile or so away on the highway. The winery is tucked in the small grove, and has some very good reds (did not ask about any whites..you're on your own there!) there is a nice picnic area in the grove if you want to enjoy a snack or lunch with your wine.

Just tried for a couple of hours to book a wine tasting for our group of 6....web site says reservations are required for a group of 6, so I called. On the first call, I gave my desired date, they looked it up and told us the latest they would take a group of 6 was noon. I was hoping for a bit later, explained my situation and that also this was a special event where this winery plays into the memory. I was basically told that was nice, I could speak to the manager (who was currently gone for 2 days), but he could do nothing for me and proceeded to tell me that every winery in Napa wants their big groups earlier in the day (not strictly true, you can book groups at several smaller wineries up to 3pm easily), and if I wanted one in the afternoon that I should go to a bigger venue like Mondavi. So, I left a message for the manager, and then contacted my group and got the schedule changed so we could do a tasting at noon. Called back to book -- oh, can't do it, there's a wine club event then until 3:30, no public in the tasting room until 3:30. Oh, ok, could you book me for 4pm? No, can't possibly, we're very busy then (it was for December, not the busiest time in Napa). I explained that I had talked to someone an hour ago, they didn't tell me about the event (though I had given them our date), had called around and changed our schedule to fit the winery's demands, and now this? I'm very disappointed. No "I'm sorry for the mistake" or anything -- just 'I'm trying to tell you what I can do for you.' Which is nothing. Then he said we could join the wine club and be included in the event. Well, you have just made it clear to me that you value walk-ins over someone that specifically picked out your winery and will make plans to be there, we were even going to make a special wine gift to our group, but not now! Don't think I'll be joining the wine club! You can get kind customer attention and education and fine wines at MANY places in Napa valley (try Miner Family, they're wonderful), you don't have to put up with this attitude. Their wine isn't good enough to justify this kind of treatment.

Been a member for years because just like my title says. One of the best in Napa!! It's not overcrowded and the staff cater to you for anything you need.

For my wife’s 30th birthday weekend we visited and selected the Cabernet Culinary Challenge!!! We had a blast competing, it was definitely worth the visit.
We found the wine to be somewhat average but taste is very subjective,
The experience was FUN!!

Out of all the wineries in the Napa area, Sequoia Grove is by far one of my favorites!! The atmosphere alone is so beautiful and relaxed so you feel very comfortable right away when walking in. Then you meet the staff and the experience just gets even better! They have always taken the time to go into as much detail as you'd like and have never been shy on their pours or to give you a little extra! :) Last but not least, the wines are AMAZING! I'm a big red wine drinker and these are simply the best, I no longer live in the area anymore but I still get my shipments as frequently as I can because they're that good!
I recommend this winery to everyone that's making the trip and I have yet to hear one complaint!
Go support Sequoia Grove and you won't be disappointed!!

We spent our Napa Valley vacation adventure checking out several different wineries in both Sonoma and Napa Valleys each day. We ran across the Sequoia Grove Winery enroute to another more 'famous' winery and decided to stop in. We spent the rest of the afternoon there, tasting different wines and hearing about the thought and care that goes into each selection. We love wine but rarely finish a bottle at one sitting so the Coravin device was explained to us in great detail - all of our questions about it answered. Our host (and I should have written his name down to give him credit) was knowledgeable and provided excellent background information on the choices we purchased. We enjoyed our afternoon so much, we never made it to our other stops. We were so impressed we joined their wine club and have been enjoying the Sequoia Grove wines sent to us. Some of the wines were so perfect, we wound up buying additional cases of the selection. The customer service is excellent and the atmosphere at the winery is charming and comfortable. Don't miss this!

I hate reviewing this place because I feel like it is a lesser known tasting room in Napa, and as a member for over 5 years I selfishly want to keep it this way. We joined the Sequoia Grove Wine Club after our first visit back in 2012 I believe because of our experience with the staff and because of the quality of the wine. At the time a gentle Mastiff would greet you at the door, the pours were generous, and every wine on the general tasting menu was good. What really put them above the rest was their reserve cabs and the Cambium, which to this day remains one of our favorite wines. The staff is still amazing; shout out to Tom for always taking good care of us and Vicki for answering any questions we have via email. Oh, and they have a nice patio area; perfect if you want to bring your family (we brought our 3 month old there a few weeks ago). The tasting room is currently undergoing some changes, like they are adding a fire pit and expanding the space. We are excited to see it transformed and hope the construction ends soon. We highly recommend not only visiting Sequoia but becoming members.

We wanted to taste wines from Sequoia Grove based on advice of a friend, so we went to the visitor's center in Napa and got a two-for-one tasting card. I started with a nice red, and my friend with a white. Based on what my friend said of the wine she tasted, the server decided she wouldn't like any of the other wines and refused to serve her any more. We were very disappointed since we were going to only two wineries that day, and felt the server had no right to make that decision. In addition, she was a bit pushy trying to get us to join their wine club. Overall it wasn't a nice experience.
We went to Caymus Vineyards after Sequoia Grove and had a wonderfully classy experience.

Beautiful setting. We had a great time celebrating 60th birthday. Great wines. Great friends. They treated us well.

Lisa was an amazing host for a perfect wine and food pairing. She knew each of our group of twelve by name and preference. Favorite experience in Napa by far.

We experienced the Terroir Tasting at Sequoia Grove on the recommendation of our B&B and couldn’t have been more pleased. The wines were very good and perfectly paired with the most amazing food, all served in a beautiful and intimate setting. Don’t let the name food “tasting” fool you- come hungry. Thank you Lisa for your hospitality and Chef Britny for sharing your talent.

A must stop while in Napa. Been a club member for many years. Wines are excellent. Winery, tasting room and staff are even better! Stopped by for our wine pickup a few weeks ago. Fall is a great time to visit Napa. Note to non locals. Majority of the fire damage was to the surrounding mountains and tough to see actual burn. The Napa Valley is still intact and as beautiful as ever!!

The five course Chef's Table lunch at Sequoia Grove Winery in Rutherford is remarkable. Each course is designed to complement and enhance a different wine. We started with a Sauvignon Blanc while waiting for lunch to begin and then had a Chardonnay while standing in a garden, having the a crispy polenta appetizer. We then moved into a private dining room overlooking another garden and had the final four courses: seared coho salmon with Cabernet Franc; sweet potato gnocchi with the Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon; duck four ways with Henry Brothers Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon; and cabernet braised short rib with Sequoia's flagship Bordeaux blend, Cambium. We had a surprise dessert to take away, a salted chocolate fudge brownie. The wines were excellent as was the food and the pours were generous. The design of the meal really demonstrates how the proper food and wine pairings can enhance the taste and enjoyment of both. As these things go, the lunch was a good value. The tastings at Sequoia run $30-$60 per person and the lunch was $95 per person ($75 if you join Sequoia's wine club) and included Sequoia's premium wines.

My friends and I have been visiting wine country Since 2014. We go at least once a year and we normally stick to visiting the same wineries for fear of spending a lot of money only to be disappointed. This time we decided to venture off our typical path and tried Sequoia Grove. The whole experience was the best we have ever had. From the moment you pull up to the winery, you are welcomed by breathtaking sequoia trees and a beautiful building. The staff was friendly and they welcomed us immediately with a glass of wine before we were seated. With our delicious glass of wine in hand, we were seated to a wonderful outdoor patio with a fire pit. The ambiance and grounds were fantastic. To top it all off, they brought us their signature charcuterie board, which isn’t commonly served by the other wineries. We highly recommend ordering that every time! And lastly, the wine was so good that it ruined all of our other tastings. At every winery, all we did was compare the wines to Sequoia Grove. We found each one lacking in comparison. I’m looking forward to taking full advantage of my new wine membership!

My first visit here was 2008. I was very impressed with both the wine and the staff at the tasting counter. I recently visited here again and unfortunately the service was disappointing. $40 for wine tasting and I was provided with very little explanation in addition to unprofessional service. It was very unfortunate.

We are long time club members and this winery never disappoints. The wine tasting room staff really help to make this a wonderful experience. A must stop when your in this region!

We visited this winery with the intent of purchasing a bottle of wine and enjoying it under the sequoia trees. The patio area is very green and well maintained.
I enjoyed a bottle of their Sauvignon Blanc which was very crisp and settled well.

It's a small tasting room right on the main drag, so easy to get to from lots of other wineries. Wines weren't bad, but not extremely memorable. They were very hospitable and friendly.

We were not familiar with Sequoia Grove until we stopped for a picnic lunch at their outdoor seating area. After tasting several reds and whites, we decided to add several cabs to our collection.

Our visit on 9/1 was for a wine pairing of Sequoia Grove Winery Rosé and Cabernets.
Although the winery walkthrough and wines descriptions were a little bit short, our Host Sabina, the Chef and all other members of the staff were amazing in making this a great experience.
I truly recommend visiting Sequoia Grove Winery.

Made reservations for the 11 AM Food and Wine pairing months in advance and glad we did. Not that it was sold out for our day, but so happy we had the opportunity to taste the wines with the food from the chef. Lisa was a wonderful host, starting us off as we met with a nice buttery Chardonnay. After a brief chat and tour we sat down for the pairing with 4 excellent reds. Each red was better than the one before on its own yet improved with the superb food the chef paired for us. All the plates were finely crafted and delicious to say the least. The wines married so well with them that the food and the time just flew by. Make a reservation and you will not be disappointed in the least. Ask for Lisa too!

We have been visiting the Napa Valley since the 70's and have been a wine member
of several different wineries over the years. By far our favorite is Sequoia Grove,
not only for their world class wines, but also for the warm friendly greeting we get
each time we visit. It's a lot like stopping by to see dear old friends. Many times,
we never get around to visiting any other wineries, because our time spent there is so
complete. We now live out of state, but still keep our Sequoia Grove Wine membership, and look forward to our quarterly wine shipments. Biil and Sharre

Charming, intimate atmosphere creates a cozy feeling. Very clean & convenient property offers testing inside & outside. People are super nice & friendly. Wine is very worthy. all & all: recommend 👍!

This is by far the coolest tasting experience I've ever had in Napa. Dean Busquaert gave an amazing presentation of the wines we were tasting, as well as history of the soil in the valley. We also had the flavor samples to take the tasting to the next level. Pairing the cheeses and wines with explanations was just so fun. I have done this experience twice, for my birthday last year and again this September for a company retreat. It is not an experience to be missed in Napa! It will change the way you serve wines and cheeses as a host! So helpful!

Amazing food and wine pairing ! The chef is so talented and the staff is super friend . Great experience

It was a fast visit but enjoyable! I got to taste the 3 reserve cabs they had and I actually ended up tasting more than 6 so over all my experience was great, customer service was amazing and the wines are great too! If you like reds and you think you could age these wines then you will be good in few years!! Over all great experience here!!

I have lived in the wine country my entire life and my father works in the wine business. I feel like I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to wine and drinking wine, that is until I took the class taught by Dean at Sequoia Grove. If you EVER have the opportunity to take this class, I highly recommend it. I learned so much about the valley, areas where grapes grow and debunked so many myths about food pairings. I will forever remember what I learned in this class. Dean has so much excitement and passion about wine, it inspires everyone around him.
The winery itself is beautiful. The outside area has lots of tables shaded by tall trees. It is great for hanging out and relaxing with your significant other, friends, or family. We will definitely be returning to this winery!

They have a great selection of wines and very friendly staff who are eager to fill your wine glass with great wines and fun conversation! I enjoy visiting with the wine staff and enjoy all the fun topics we discuss when I visit!
I am a Club member and wouldn't have it any other way!

I have been a member of sequoia grove winery since the 80s , my kids grew up visiting the winery with us. We recently just celebrated our 30 year wedding anniversary in the garden with family and friends and had a great time . We always enjoy visiting and have a great time at the winery. We can’t wait for the renovation to be complete.

Out of the hundreds of Napa/Sonoma wineries available, my wife and I only got to about a dozen. Sequoia Grove was our first and turned out to be the BEST! Went off season so we were able to get an education from their very knowledgeable staff. Their red wines are rich, smooth, full-bodied and perfectly balanced (for our palates). We even found ourselves liking (and buying) their Rosé, Dry Gewürtz and Sauvignon Blanc, even though we prefer reds. I highly recommend the Stagecoach Cab, Rutherford Bench Cab and Cambium! We joined their club, which is well managed, and will most likely be lifetime members. It's fascinating how varied Rutherford Cabs can finish out, but Sequoia Grove beats their neighbors hands down for us (even though the others are very good, too!). When we go back to visit different spots, Sequoia Grove will still be our very time-constrained list. Really can't say enough about them. Visit was in April 2016 (not December as shown in another field here) - not much foliage or grapes on the vines, but we were there to taste wine and broaden our knowledge - PERFECT time!

My husband and I love wine, but are newbies to the whole "tasting" experience. Sequoia was an excellent introduction. I wish I had the name of our hostess . . . she was informative without making us feel like we knew nothing (which we didn't!). We bought several bottles home with us and joined their club! Can't wait for that first shipment.

Lovely tasting room, friendly staff, and the wine was so amazing that I joined their wine club (which is also great)! When in Napa, I highly recommend that you stop in and taste some of their amazing Cabernet for yourself.

We entered the property and were greeted by some beautiful Giant Sequoia Trees. The layout is similar to a small lodge, warm and inviting. The products are quite good. A nice place to relax for a while

We (4 of us) just visited Sequoia Grove for an afternoon tasting - on Sunday the 27th, a few hours after the Glass Fire started. We, in fact, passed the flames and watched the air support on our way.
The tasting was a much needed break and the patio was beautiful. All of the wines were amazing. We had Cabernet lovers and Chardonnay lovers and we were all very happy with the choice of tastings. We also had a few of the kitchen goodies - amazing compliments to the tasting. Renee, our concierge, was fabulous. She had an impressive breadth of wine knowledge - definitely a Master of Wines. She shared the details of all of the Sequoia Grove wines and vineyards but also discussed general wine making and viticulture practices that were fascinating.
We cannot wait to be back - as soon as this horrible, awful, destructive fire is contained. It is such a sad week here in Napa Valley. This tasting was truly the highlight.
Thank you Renee!!

The staff was great in telling us about the wine, the winemaker, and the history of the vineyard. We don't see much of this wine at home so it was nice discovering something new. The pours were generous and Cookie was funny with some of the stories she related. Really enjoyed it.

If you really want to learn about wine and the vineyards go see Dean at Sequoia Grove. He does an excellent job going thru our wine tastings of the reserves they have and educating us on the art of winery!! I highly recommend this as a must stop. The Cabs are amazing!!

Sequoia Grove is a great winery. It's extremely rare I like every wine I've tried from a winery but that is true of Sequoia Grove especially if you like red wine. I even liked their rose which I rarely like.

came here last week with few friends. I've always had sequoia grove reds in the past, usually $50 bottle or less, good price point in my opinion for a above average wine. The winery was ok, nothing impressive for Napa, but the service was awesome. I had the vintage flight and was served the cambium as our last tasting, which is their flag ship wine. It was priced around $130 with very complex flavor, I was more impressed by their products than their property. Come for the wine but not for the tasting experience.....

We are long time wine club members at sister winery St Francis and love their wine-food pairing. We finally decided to try Sequoia Grove when we learned they now had a wine-food pairing. Sequoia is primarily a cabernet winery. Their cab prices are higher than St Francis but the quality is definitely there. Spent way too much money buying Sequoia wine but I'll very much appreciate having it in my cellar!

I stopped by with my wife as we had a little time in between tastings and was taken by surprise at how wonderful they were. To the point where we joined the wine club. Will definitely be back soon!

Do yourself a favor. Treat yourself to this amazingly thoughtful experience of wine and food. Your host Lisa is AMAZING and the wine pairing with the food is the best I have ever had. Chef Britny Maureze is so precisely thoughtful to first understand the wine, then to pair the food to enhance the beautiful complexity of the wines making them shine even brighter with each bite and sip. Do this. Just go.

This is a hidden gem. You have to ask for Dean when scheduling your visit. You will receive a unique tasting experience! He was well informed, took time to explain details from the growth of the vineyards to pairing food with your wine...not wine with your food!

My husband and I stopped in to pick up our wine and to taste. We have been members for a couple of years as we love their cabs. We walked into the tasting room today and this visit Chiree helped us out. She described the wines and made suggestions on what we would enjoy. We have always had nice staff experiences and are looking forward to the expansion. We highly recommend not only visiting Sequoia but becoming members.

This is a lovely (if small) winery with delicious wines. The staff is incredibly helpful and we never felt rushed. Shelly made us feel like family and shared her knowledge in an easy way! We could have spent all day here!

Our favorite winery when in the valley, had a great time today learning about the different soils from our host Tom, amazing and relaxing ambiance...best cabs!!!!

We heard great things about their wines, especially the rebellious red so we had planned this tasting .Vicki introduced us to many of their great wines and in the process engaged us in conversation about food, pairing, travel and life. It was fun. She even opened a spicy dip to try pairing with wine as well as helping us with pairing their wines to foods we love. Their wines are delicious and priced well as is the wine club. We joined and can’t wait for our shipment. Thank you Vicki for such a great job.

I had been 3/4 years since my last visit.
Back then I feel in love with the Cadium.
So today I just wanted to get reacquainted with the reds.
Vicky helped me and she was amazing!
She listened, brought out a Cab Franc that wasn’t on the list betI shared my love of Cab Frank.
I really have no interest in joining a wine club, but I left a member because of A- greats, and B- Vicky.
It was a truly wonderful experience, thank you Vicky and thanks for the great reds!

The winery is fantastic. Great place to sit down and have a great cab! We thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the best spots in the valley.

Obviously food pairings change seasonally, but these are classic cabs with distinctive tastes between each. Portions of food are hardy and very elegantly paired. Great hospitality. Wow just wow. Save room or take to go the thick, rich fudge brownie to finish 4 courses as surprise 5th course.

If you do only one wine pairing in California, make it this one. The food and wine were perfectly matched. The chef came out to talk with us twice, and explain why she paired the way she did. The food was excellent! We really appreciated Lisa being our hostess and we enjoyed seeing Heather when she dropped in. Lisa explained things and answered all our questions throughout the pairing. If you do the pairing, make the reservation well in advance and make it with Lisa; she is very good but will be booked up quickly. This was easily the best pairing that I have ever participated in.
Tour and pairing were 90 minutes total, in length.

What a friendly tasting experience! I have been going to Sequoia Grove for years and after a brief hiatus decided to stop by and give them another go on my visit to Napa Valley last week. I'm so glad I did! We were the first people of the day in the tasting room so we were given a super friendly and warm welcome. No appointment is needed here. We opted to share a reserve tasting (with a pretty hefty tasting fee, $40 per person). I figure why waste my time on the 'everyday' wines you can pretty much buy at any wine shop across America; pour me the "good stuff."
The wines here were all solid and pretty decent. I still found the wines to be overpriced for what they were but that's just the new trend in Napa: every winery wants to charge $75 and up for a bottle of wine. It's unnecessary and makes the wineries look like they value a quick buck over winning new loyal fans and wine drinkers. That being said, I ended up taking home two $75 bottles (d'oh!) of their special reserve Cabernet. It's tasty and I think will age fairly well. While nothing on the tasting menu said that the tasting fee was waived with a purchase, the friendly lady assisting us made a comment to the guy who came in a bit later that he wouldn't have to pay the tasting fee if he "bought a couple of bottles." So we also bought "a couple of bottles" and didn't have to pay the tasting fee. They pushed the wine club but not too hard, which I appreciated. Nobody likes getting the hard sell when they are on vacation.
I was happy with the personalized service we received and the staff was very friendly but they did make a few offhanded comments about a "big party of 10" that was scheduled for later in the day, complete with an eye roll and a sigh. While we were just a party of two, it made me feel kind of awkward.
Take a few minutes before you leave and ask if you can walk around the outdoor space out back. It's quite lovely. Get to the winery early and you'll be the only ones there. Don't fight crowds, get out of bed! It's never too early to drink wine in Napa Valley!

Jack took really good care of us! When he found out were were celebrating our first anniversary in Napa, he took care of our wine tasting & gave us a very expensive glass of wine as well.
We were already enjoying ourselves in their beautiful gardens outside & enjoying a great tasting on our own time. By taking care of our tasting and offering another glass, is just the icing on the cake. It's not about the money, but rather, about making us feel welcome and like old friends, rather than another customer and another buyer for their wines. I really appreciated his low-key, laid-back service.
Next time we're in the area, we're definitely coming back & this time we'll bring some picnic supplies to enjoy in their gardens with their delicious wines! :)

We are very happy that we stopped to visit Sequoia Grove Winery. Nestled within a handful of beautiful Sequoias the winery delivered a great experience. The tasting room was cozy and, as many of the reviews say the tasting room staff were awesome. Ben was our host and he provided us with a lot of information during our tasting. It was the perfect combination of absolutely delicious wines and awesome service. We really enjoyed their Malbec! Go visit!

Absolutely blown away by our experience at Sequoia Grove. We did a tour of Napa for my mom’s 85th birthday and she is a big fan of Cabernets. She had never had Sequoia Grove, but my hubby and I had tried their only mass produced Cabernet Sauvignon. We were a fan and excited to try some of their other wines.
Wines: we tried a Merlot, a Rutherford Bench Reserve, Tonella Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. They were all delicious but our favorite was the Tonella. Sooooo flipping good. I wanted to dive into the glass and swim in it! Then we were lead into the tasting room and were served the Cambium!!! Goodness. I think this is my all time favorite!!!
Ambiance: there is something so special about drinking delicious wine while sitting under the big beautiful sequoia trees! It is so peaceful and serene. I could’ve sat there all day long drinking that fantastic wine. Then inside it felt like the classiest cabin I’d ever been in. Not a lp of frills but a welcoming place where you could tell a lot of thought was put into it.
Service: OSCAR!!!! This dude knew his stuff!!! He was professional, courteous and passionate about his wine!! He seemed to understand what we liked and steered us in that direction with the Cambium.
Our only regret is not doing the meal pairing. We will be back!!!

Love Sequoia Grove wines.... found them a few years ago and have been a happy Club member ever since. Our tasting was excellent and we enjoyed the menu of small bites and pizza as we explored the wines. Our host Kenny was very knowledgeable and we pretty much got to taste whatever we requested. Our friends who were not club members enjoyed their visit and joined the club. The grounds are beautiful with large Sequoia trees that provide shade. We certainly return next visit to the area.

We were on a girls weekend trip and waiting for a table for dinner in Napa, when a very nice gentleman with his wife & baby offered their place at the bar. He asked about our trip and then gave us his card. This was Matthew the Manager at the winery. He asked us to stop by for a tasting. It's located right next door to Cakebread, so after we finished there, we popped in. There are beautiful Sequoia's greeting you as you enter. We are so glad that we met Matthew and stopped in. The staff pouring the tasting were so enjoyable to talk with about the wines we were tasting and offering suggestions on other places to visit and eat at. All of us left with several bottles of wines. But most off all we enjoyed the new discovery of a great and enjoyable wine. Thanks Matthew from the ladies!

We've been long time wine club members and fans of Sequoia Grove Winery. Each visit is always delightful, delicious wines to sample and excellent people working in the tasting room. This past weekend I experienced the Food and Wine Pairing (lunch) for the first time. Out of this world. The food was delicious. I even actually ate halibut and enjoyed it (I NEVER eat seafood). The wines, as always, were delicious and were paired very well with the food. It was an experience unlike any other.
You can't go wrong visiting Sequoia Grove Winery and the Food and Wine pairing is worth the extra time (allow 2 hours).

lovely tasting room. lots of traffic. great wine. but most memorable was Tom who filled our glasses, explained the types of wine, had us compare wines....was just very helpful and fun!

We had the greatest cab sauv tasting by Dean Busquaert last weekend: he actually fulfilled his promise that he'd "change your life"....because the info he gave on how to pair Cabernet Sauvignon with food was INVALUABLE. Won't be a spoiler; suffice it to say that heretofore (Dean didn't use that pretentious adjective) I will always know what NOT to serve with a good Cab Sauv. He was thoroughly entertaining yet professional - not just samples (wine AND food) but visuals, and video, and a contest at the end! He was great, wine was great, all-around GREAT.

We love Sequoia Grove! What a fantastic little winery, situated on a stunning backdrop. The rustic feel of the winery is complimented nicely with incredible wines. The service is bar none, and we love sitting outside and enjoying a picnic while we are there. We liked it so much we joined the wine club and have been members for 5+ years now!

We first visited here 4 years ago and it's been at the top of our list ever since. We tell all of our friends to stop in for tasting on the patio. The sequoia trees outside can't be missed, they are gorgeous. The tasting room is fun and friendly with beautifully etched bottles on display. The wine - wow!! We are only a member of ONE club in Napa - Sequoia Grove. It's like Christmas morning every time it's delivered!!

We had a delicious lunch at Sequoia Grove Winery matched with perfect wines. Lisa was very knowledgable and entertaining, and Britny prepared some amazing dishes to go with their top notch wines. The price was very reasonable too. Highly recommend! We regret not buying the Cambium.... any chance to ship a pallet to the UK?!?! ;)

We did the tour with tasting lunch. It was fabulous! The chef was amazing and the host was a great sport. The dining room is gorgeous and the cabs were great. I highly recommend!

We had a group of eight that did the lunch pairing and it was SO GOOD. The food was interesting and best of all--actual lunch size servings, as opposed to tiny little bites that you get at some lunch pairings. The staff was super fun and accommodating. I like that they were knowledgeable but also didn't take themselves too seriously. They did have mostly cabs, with one chardonnay as the only available white. It was really a fun place to visit and will for sure be back!

It is a nice set up, there are 2 bars inside. You can also walk around outside which was nice. The wines were good, would recommend.

My wife and I have been club members for years and we just visited this past Saturday. Sequoia Grove never disappoints and we had a great experience.
Napa Valley is back and better than ever after the fires.

The wine and food pairing is exceptional! Sequoia Winery has an absolutely brilliant chef. We had the 11:00 seating and had a glass of rose while walking around a bit outside and hearing about the winery. The room used for the food and wine pairing was lovely and the host did a great job describing the wines. The chef came out to discuss the dishes she had paired with each wine. Make no mistake - this is a meal, not a "tasting". It was so good my husband wanted to go back again. It will be on our list for our next Napa Valley visit. And the wines were lovely so we signed up for their wine club.

A very relaxing and enjoyable tasting outside. Our host Ohadd was professional and very knowledgeable. The wines were amazing, Malbec was our favorite. Can't wait to go back after covid restrictions loosen up and we can enjoy the wine pairings with food.

Wine and food experience was amazing!
We had a lovely time!
Mason took really good care of us and he was super helpful.

We stopped by after a recommendation that they had great white wines. We did our tasting at the walk up bar. They were quite busy and understandably so did not get the attention we were looking for but still enjoyed their wines. The old remodeled barn with a small redwood grove was a lovely relaxed place in which to taste.

We had booked a food and wine pairing experience and were a bit surprised when we arrived too early that we could not just sit on the patio and enjoy a leisurely glass of wine. We had to come back later for our reservation.
It started out fairly well with a complimentary glass of wine, they offerChardonnay but since I don’t drink it, I was given an alternative of cabernet franc or merlot, I opted for the second one. An amuse-bouche gougère was served hot with it and was delicious. It bided well for the rest. Unfortunately, though the dishes on the menu would have been better served one by one so they could be served hot…it was not the case, they all came on a long plate with the various sauces leeching into the dish next to it.
The initial two cabernet sauvignon paired with the food did not complement it. It was only the third which proved outstanding as an accompaniment to the halibut with a tonello sauce.
For the price, it would be best to bring the dishes hit, one after the other.

I have been a white wine drinker and have never cared for reds. After my daughter introduced me to a bottle of cab from Sequoia, I wanted to experience the red tasting. This was my sixth winery on our weekend trip and by far my favorite spot! The grounds are lovely and our tasting was both educational and fun. I liked all that I tried. My highlight was the tasting with the different tongue senses, sweet, citrus, salty and the cheeses. What an eye opener! The staff is friendly, professional, knowledgeable and fun! Make Sequoia a stop on your tour!!

This is a small well known winery. Friends recommended it so we stopped by. We enjoyed the wine tasting as well as the great explanations we got from Tom.
Unfortunately they don’t offer tours of the winery so we couldn’t appreciate the process but just the great tasty result!

Don't be afraid to go to Napa!! We just got back from a weekend visit and Sequoia Grove Winery was a high point. Their wines are great wines. But there is more than just great wines - there are great people. At Sequoia Grove Winery the staff is amazing and the service is impeccable. It is an experience you should not miss! So go to Napa. And don't miss Sequoia Grove Winery!!

My wife and I went to San Francisco and chose to go to Sequoia Grove. The wine and margherita pizza were amazing. Mason helped us out and he was knowledgeable about the wine but also very kind. We would definitely go back

My husband and I have been wine club members at Sequoia Grove for 10 years. We LOVE the wine. Now, we LOVE the food too. Lisa is an amazing hostess. Her wine/viticulture/enology experience is spectacular and she shares openly and is just so entertaining. I'm not sure where Britny was trained but she (and Lisa) paired the food in the 5-course tasting perfectly! I'm a pescaterian and they made wonderful substitutions for me when the group enjoyed duck and filet mignon. I truly enjoyed my salmon and braised onion/mushroom dish more! I highly recommend this experience. We will definitely come again as the seasons change and the menu's change. You will LOVE this!!!

This is a bucket list event! Lisa Marie fhosted and it was some of the best food and wine in my life.
Do it.

Sequoia Grove winery is just wonderful. My wife and five grown up children were warmly greeted, given great tastings, and experienced cheerful hospitality. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is outstanding. We played outside, ate cheese, and savored every moment and sip.

I had not been to this winery before but have had their wines for years. We arrived as we had an appointment, they attended to us promptly. Darlene is the one that took care of us, she was amazing. Darlene was informative, friendly and overall made our experience exceptional. The wines here were delicious with great structure. This is an underrated winery, definitely worth visiting.

I lead with music better than Calebread as Cakebread is much better known than Sequoia Grove. I actually ended up here after going to Cakebread and being disappointed in riser tasting. Sequoia Grove is low production wine that has craft and pride in their wines, I always stop on by ( I might be bias as I am a member ) but still great Cabs and more.

Great wines f
Food pairing great great service we became members after being members at two other Rutherford win
eries the cabernet is very good and well worth the price got rated very high points I prefer smaller wineries that are family owned the staff is friendly except for one of the female tasters .Tom does a great job in explaining the wines and history of the winery.

We were so grateful to have chosen Sequoia as one of our first tastings. Oscar did a fantastic job accompanying amazing wine and hospitality. He not only provided knowledge on Sequoia, but had wonderful knowledge of the property, beautiful trees and many local establishments including a fantastic dinner suggestion. As a lover of reds, Sequoia has changed my mind and now has my favorite white. Their Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and delicious! Living in Florida it will make for the perfect white in the heat. Thank you to Oscar for a wonderful experience! We look forward to returning once more before we leave.

My wife and I recently spent several days in wine country, and despite the recent tragic fires, both Napa and Sonoma counties are open and welcoming tourists. Approximately two weeks prior to our visit, we were informed our hotel was closed due to the fires. We had some difficulty finding new lodging, so we cancelled several planned wine tastings and changed our travel plans to a few days in Lodi. Upon cancelling our tastings, I received a personal phone call from one of the wineries offering lodging in a nearby B&B. Appreciating the effort, and wanting to visit our favorite area and wine friends in Sonoma/Napa, we again changed our plans. I will share that is was one of more memorable visits. The wineries are definitely open and welcoming customers, would say even rolling out the 'red carpet' in some sense. We had incredible private tastings at Ridge, Coppola, Virginia Dare, Dutcher Crossing, Chateau Montelena and Sequoia Grove. Additionally, we enjoyed a truly wonderful food and wine pairing at St. Francis. Because of the fires, the wineries were no doubt slower of traffic, which was to our advantage as we received extra special attention at many. A ride thru the vines, special pours of library wines, back room tours to see how it all happens, barrel tastings and much more. Had a very enjoyable and insightful private tasting at Sequoia Grove, which typically is for groups of approximately 8. While the fires were tragic, and the impact of them is very visible as you travel thru the area, the communities are embracing the challenge to help their neighbors and rebuild. Wine country is still as beautiful as ever, is open for travel and memorable visits, and is eager to have its tourists, family and friends return to help it rebuild, keep people in work and bring a sense of normality back to the area.

We stopped at Sequoia Grove on our way to Hall and we will be going back every time we are up in the valley. The new facilities are not too be missed and the wine is some of the best values in Napa. We have been club members for a couple years now and have never been disappointed. Go visit and sign up!

4 of us got into Napa early and so we decided to visit a couple wineries. I had a Sequoia Grove Cab in restaurants before so hoped it would be a good visit. Aubrey was our host and she was friendly and knowledgeable. We did the Current Release Tasting ($30) plus an additional special bottle. They have good reds, Cabs, Syrah, and Merlot. I bought a few bottles to take home. One of our group joined the club. I was thisclose to joining but it was just the 1 of 4 days so I held back. We sat outside and it was a beautiful afternoon, very quiet and relaxing, a great tasting. Thanks Aubrey!

My husband and I first stopped by Sequoia Grove winery a number of years ago on a wine country trip from Atlanta. We loved their wine, the beauty of the surroundings and tasting room, and the knowledge and attention of the staff. We joined the wine club and enjoy our regular shipments! Since then, we have tried to make a fall visit every couple of years, and it is a tradition to make Sequoia Grove the first stop on our trip to set the tone for our vacation! It never disappoints. We are looking forward to visiting again soon.

My wife and I did a private tasting with Dean and it was one of the best events we did while in Napa. Highly recommend!

My wife and I can't express how much we love Sequoia Grove Winery. The wines were wonderful and the service is 3 Michelin Stars if there was such a thing for wineries. Our host Gary was more than helpful. He shared the story of Sequoia Grove wine and a bunch more. We had tried to get a reservation for a local restaurant but they were booked but he was able to get us a reservation. He also recommended a couple other places and they were absolutely on point. We talked about our upcoming spring trip to Tuscany and Rioja and asked him for recommendations. He followed that up with an email of the restaurants and hotels he and his wife stayed in both places. We'll be sure book accordingly and spread the news to our Miami friends that Sequoia Grove is the must go to winery in Napa Valley.

Dean Busquaert provided us with a wonderful and extremely educational wine tasting experience..completely different from others we have participated in. We loved the wine and food paring challenge and Dean's educational approach. We highly recommend this experience.

We did the "A Taste for Cabernet" tasting with Dean Busquaert on October 5th. It turned out to be only my husband and me that had signed up that day. We were introduced to Dean and shown to a private room, where we spent the next 90 minutes learning from Dean about the Napa Valley terroir, about the wine business in general, and most fascinating of all, about how different food flavors impact the taste of the wine. While we consider ourselves to be somewhat knowledgeable about wine, we really learned a lot along the way. The best part was that we got to taste several single-vineyard cabernets that are small-batch wines not widely available elsewhere. What at treat! And we were able to put our new-found knowledge to use at dinner that night in selecting foods to complement the bottle of Cambium that we purchased after the tasting.

Great food and wine experience with friendly knowledgeable staff, food was better than the high end restaurants, enjoyed the ambiance as well

We really enjoyed our experience today with Dean. He shared wonderful insights into all aspects of Cabernet Sauvignon including what to eat with this wine and what not to eat. Some cheese really works with this wine and some do not! The wines were outstanding!

We were drawn to Sequoia Grove because of the online reviews of the food pairing, and we are so glad we went! It was the highlight of our four-day Napa trip and a memory we will have forever. We were lucky and actually got to dine with the wine maker herself, Molly, which was an incredible experience. Plus, the "tour guide" Lisa was personable, hilarious, and extremely knowledgeable. And to top it all off, the food prepared by Britny Maureze was perfectly paired with each glass of wine, eloquently bringing out the flavors. This all-female team are running an outstanding operation, and we were in awe the entire time. I highly recommend!
I should note that they also created personalized menus, which had our names and even congratulated me and my husband on our 10 year anniversary. Plus, they accommodated my pescetarian diet with absolutely no issues.

Very relaxing wine tasting! My wife an I enjoyed the comfortable seating as well as the wines. Wish we could have spent a little more time there, but will return.

Today we embarked on a non pretentious amazing food and wine journey! Mason was a knowledgeable and kind host, down to Earth, and he really cares about what he does. Christie the chef was passionate and her food is so artistic and she’s so creative.
We ate some amazing food paired interestingly, such as prawns and cab Franc...? It worked beautifully with her squid ink gnocchi.
The duck is stupendous! Four ways and perfect.
Lastly... I can’t wait to share with my daughter the cabernet sea salt brownie.
Scrumptious and outright fun!

As the wineries in Napa are closing up again, I want to write about what a pleasant experience I had at Sequoia Grove on the last Sunday of June , 2020.
The location - about 15 mins north of Napa town , close to many other wineries.
Setting - huge garden with tables places far apart from each other .
Service - our server was excellent and very professional.
The wines - I had the cab flight tasting - most of them were very good , but my favorite was a Syrah that our server poured us later .
Value - very very good . Our server offered us lots of discount after he learned about the hotel that we stayed at had some affiliation with sequoia grove.
Covid precautions - excellent . The best - among the five wineries I visited in Napa recently . Our very polite server screened us upon entry and took our temperatures. There was plenty of hand sanitizer around , and the tables were spaced wide apart .
Overall , a great experience , even though their cabs were not my favorite ....

This was quite simply the best tasting experience we have ever done. Mike was an exceptional host and we were fortunate to have the private tasting room to ourselves.
We took part in the Taste for Cabernet experience which detailed how the different soils affect the wine, as well as how different foods and flavour profiles bring out different qualities in the wine.
All of this took place in the most amazing and inviting private tasting room. The little samples of food were perfect in helping illustrate how your perception of the wine can alter based on the food you eat.
We were very lucky to have been given a complimentary tasting. I believe this normally costs $50 per person. That sounds like a lot but the quality of wine and the care and time taken by the host would make this a good value experience, even at $50. The whole experience lasted about 90 minutes and we loved every moment.
We could not recommend the experience or Mike himself enough. Thanks for a fantastic memory and letting us sample some of your fantastic wine.

Sequoia Grove remains one of my favorite spots in Napa Valley for many reasons. Yes, the wine is excellent, and the venue is beautiful and easily accessible. The winery special events make it easily a wine lover’s first choice for extraordinary Valley wine experiences from delicious Lobster fests with a fun grape stomping contest to a Holiday wine tasting and lunch that bring friends and family together.
Come back to Napa Valley which is open of business despite the recent fire. It’s a lovely fall and winter trip and a stop at Sequoia Grove is highly recommended. Try their Rebellious Red!! Their staff will welcome you at the door with open arms. They always treat me like family.

We had a great visit here! Wines were superb, Oscar was very informative and fun to chat with, the cheese and charcuterie platter was delicious and the trees were beautiful! Looking forward to enjoying the wines we bought as well as the wine club we joined! Highly recommended!

We come to Napa every year, and so we've had an opportunity to experience many food and wine pairings. This is an EXCEPTIONAL experience for an amazing value. The wines are outstanding (we are typically big red drinkers, but their sauvignon blanc is really incredible as well), and the chef, Brittany, did an amazing job of pairing their big reds with flavours that you wouldn't normally think of. Mason, our wine guide, was also super knowledgeable and added great personality to our lunch. I'm hesitant to write such a positive review, because I would rather others didn't know about this. We joined the wine club, and I suspect, this will now be a yearly visit to enjoy the amazing flavours that Brittany dreams up. Special mention to her dessert brownie which was out of this world while paired with one of their cabs! Thank you for an outstanding visit!

I hate to have to write a less then stellar review, so I'll start off by saying Tom (our server, was AMAZING). But unfortunately our personal experience was less then what we expected. It was a reservation curfuffle, in which we had a reservation for the food and wine pairing on a Friday. I called to change the reso to Saturday morning, and it was no problem at all, I even joked about it being "brunch" with the person I spoke too. We arrive on Saturday and our reso is not on the books, and in fact we were called "no shows" from the day before. Our reso never was changed.
I understand mix ups happen, but it's what happened next that really left a sour taste in my mouth on the experience.
Management was so quick to point a finger at us, told us we could do a regular tasting in which we were still very excited about, but guilted us with the "wasted" time and reservation we took up. We got sat in the very corner of the property, and if it were't thanks to Tom's compassion and understanding we would have walked out half way through.
Management should have remedied this mix up more properly given it was a mix up on their reso side, but no sort of empathy or understanding was had.
All of this to say, check your reservations and call and triple confirm. The property was nice and I can imagine the tasting is stellar, just a shame to not be able to speak to it here.

Napa Valley in general is such an amazing place! If I could afford to go back monthly I would. We visited Sequioa Grove a year ago and loved it so much we joined their wine club! We get to enjoy their wines 4 times a year since we can’t visit monthly from Minnesota!😊 I love that they send out emails for special add on’s that are winery exclusives! We take advantage of that frequently. We went back for a visit this past September and can’t wait to visit again in the near future! I was sure glad to hear that Sequoia Grove and wine country survived the fires!

I love these wines and sometimes find them difficult to get but have officially joined the Club so I can get to look forward to 4 installments a year. Want to thank Chiree, who was a wonderful and super sweet host for our tasting, she was delightful and very helpful. Can't wait to see the expansion on our next visit.

Sequoia Grove has the best moderate priced wines in the Valley - The have fabulous reds that can be put down and enjoyed years later if you choose - as well as a solid variety of whites and all of their wines are very drinkable now.
Second favorite part of visiting SG is their staff. Always the best staff in the Valley.

Loved this winery and the selections available. This is a can't miss stop if you are in Napa! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Michael Trujillo the CEO was a great host and tour guide. His wine knowledge was outstanding! I put this winery as a stop on all of my visits to Napa. You cannot go wrong with Sequoia Grove. Give yourself time to enjoy and chill out with your wine tasting here....

If you enjoy Cabernet please put this vineyard on your intinerary. Graceful hosts in a pleasant tasting room.

A male staff greeted us with rude, loud, obnoxious and insulting comments. There was no signage that reservation was required nor limitation on group size. The tasting room only had 4 guests inside and he told us he did not have room for us because we have no reservation and our group was too big.
Our party of 10 have 2 well behaved children (10 and 7 years old). The 2 kids have barely stepped inside the tasting room, he immediately talked to us in a scolding tone that the 2 kids were not allowed to run inside the tasting room.
While he was 'talking down' to our group, he paused his 'rude behavior' for a moment to greet the 2 Anglo individuals walking up behind me and invited them right up to the counter, not knowing these 2 individuals were part of our group. He offered to serve them and completely ignored the rest of the group as if we were not there.
There are plenty of other wineries in Napa, Sonoma and elsewhere who would welcome us with an open arm. We enjoyed spending our money at Franciscan down the street immediately after we left this awful rude winery. We had a wonderful time with an extremely courteous staff at Franciscan who was more than happy to serve us regardless what our ethnicity is.
I hope the owner(s) of Sequoia Grove Winery will see this review. I am sure they have other employees much better than this rude male staff. It is sad to have crossed path with this individual who might have formed an instant opinion of us while we were walking through the door that we could not afford the price range of the wine they serve. Little did he know that we have made many purchases at many other wineries who have higher price range than Sequoia.
This gentleman either needs some counseling, reality check or urgently needs training on customer service.
I will never return to this place as no one deserves to be treated the way this rude male staff have behaved towards us.

Our friends booked a private wine tasting with Sequoia. Dean Busquaert on their staff prepared an exceptional experience for us, showing us how to pare their wines with different foods. (Note: never pair cabernets with sweet deserts!)
Dean walked us through their various wines and had us sample them with different foods -- sweet and salty foods, cheeses, etc. He also gave us some great background on the different soil types in Napa and explained how vineyards are organized into different blocks.
If you're looking for a fun and educational wine experience, this is by far the best we've experienced. I highly recommend you reserve a tasting with Dean. He's truly exceptional, engaging, entertaining and educational.

It was an interesting barn and we were each given 4 tastings. the wine was fine and the folks serving it were very knowledgeable.

If you're in Napa, you must book the Food and Wine pairing. The chef created delicious out-of-this-world tastings for my husband and me to sample with the wine. She created unique Vegan selection for me that was exceptional. The hostess was very knowledgeable and personable.

My husband and I have been visiting Napa Valley for decades. We used to visit back in the day when tastings were free and the tasting room was a simple, small space. Over the years wine tasting has become big business with most wineries charging between $25 and $75 per person per tasting. It adds up fast!
When you go wine tasting, you are looking to not only drink some wine, but to learn about wine. Depending on your knowledge level, the tasting host will either give you general beginner wine information, more detailed information about the wine, and progress onto the winemaker and specific processes of the wine you are drinking. In any event, the tasting host should be educating you about something having to do with wine or the winery.
On a recent visited the “Rutherford” area of Napa valley three wineries were visited. Sequoia Grove, Cakebread and Inglenook. Sequoia was the best. The tasting host was super nice and very informative. Once she realized we knew something about wine, she then proceeded to tell us about the winemaker and winery. Cost for tasting was $25 per person for current release. If the grounds were nicer I would have given this place 5 stars.
Next stop was Cakebread. By far the least favorite and in my opinion, can skip this winery. It was a waste of both time and money. I had the $40 tasting of the reds. The issues I had were 1) The grounds are not grand compared to other Napa wineries, 2) The reds were “young” and therefor didn’t taste very good at all. This can sometimes be helped by offering tasters food (often cheese) or letting the wine air before tasting. This winery doesn’t do this so your tasting experience is bad. (Also, the tasting pour was the smallest of the three!) 3) The tasting host didn’t offer any insight to the wine, winery or wine maker. Instead he kept talking about Bourbon and stereo equipment. I couldn’t wait to leave.
Our last stop was Inglenook. I had the regular tasting costing $45 per person – but this comes with cheese/bread to help the tasting. The grounds and chateau of the winery are spectacular! Nice to visit even if you don’t do a tasting. The chateau has on the second floor movie memorabilia from Francis Ford Coppola (who purchased the winery decades ago). The wines were nice and having food to accompany the tasting helped the reds taste better. I was especially impressed with the Rubicon and I wasn’t surprised to see it sells for over $200 per bottle. The host was pleasant and provided education about the winery, wine maker etc…

We had a nice tasting at Sequoia Grove. Our host was knowledge and accommodating taking time to learn our individual preferences and customizing our tasting to match. The outdoor setting is pretty and a great place to enjoy a tasting.

The wines are delightful but even better is how you get treated by the staff. We arrived near closing and the place was packed, but they rose to the challange and we had a wonderful time!

Sequoia Grove is one of the most laid back tasting rooms in Napa, in a good way. They are super friendly and very generous with their tastings. I purchased a tasting that included 4 wines and ended up tasting 7, 2 of which where not actually ones in the tier I should have been tasting from (the bottle price was over $100 on those). All of the wines were solid.
They also have a seating area for their customers that is a great place to have lunch. A sandwich will always taste better in Napa but the large sequoias in their garden give some fantastic shade for lunch and a great lunch ambiance.
Give them a visit, I am sure you will enjoy yourself.

Loved the building, the trees, the ambiance, the knowledge and helpfulness of Ben, and, most importantly, the wines. Well crafted, sophisticated and not over-produced and yet intelligent wines. Will be back as soon as possible. Thank you,

Loved the fantastic food and wine pairing experience! Definitely worth the money and time. Book ahead and it will not disappoint! I even joined the wine club that day because their wines are fantastic! Can’t wait to do it again!

Great merlot and the staff was very friendly. I could see that some of the staff were having great communication with the visitors that were really enjoying their time. The lady that helped us was also a friendly, unpretentious person that helped you familiarize with various wines' features.

Spent a few fun hours tasting wines and sitting under the trees with our wine guide Zach. Very nice winery with some interesting wines currently expanding so a little building going on, but well worth a visit to a rustic winery with lots of charm and character.

We had a wine tasting in a private room where we sat at tables and learned about where the grapes are grown in the valley, and what types of food go well with the wines. Very educational and highly recommend this sit-down experience.

One of our favorite stopped during a two-day bike tour of wineries in the St. Helena area. The tasting room staff was by far the most friendly and outgoing. The room is small (on purpose) so the experience was very personal. At one point, we had six different cabernets lined up spanning 2005 to 2012 to compare and contrast. Truly a great time. Bike was a little more wobbly though heading back to to the Harvest Inn afterward. :) But have enjoyed our purchases and would definitely go back.

My wife and I had received a recommendation to try this place 3 years ago. Just last week I was in San Francisco for a business trip and decided to head up and try it again. The place, the wine, and the people never disappoint. Had a wonderful experience and ordered some more wine on top of my wine club delivery. I live in NC so it is always a special trip to go and enjoy Sequoia Grove. They have some new construction going on, so I will have to go back after it is complete to see the newly expanded facilities!

My wife and I visited to take advantage of their food and wine pairings. They take you on a short tour of the estate and bring you into their room that they built specifically for the purpose of doing the tastings. The food is fantastic! They do an excellent job of offering generous (delicious) pairings with each course. You will not leave hungry, in fact, I would recommend eating a very small breakfast that day. They do not take a high pressure approach to joining the wine club, although after several delicious courses and very generous pours, you will want to relive the experience again at home. This really is a fantastic deal - highly recommended.

I have been enjoying Napa Valley wines for over 25 years and Sequoia Grove remains one of my all-time favorites. My wife and I always stop here anytime we are in the Napa Valley and have been wine club members for nearly 20 years. The staff is humble, knowledgeable, engaging and fun. The tasting room is in a 110-year-old barn (nicely renovated of course) nestled among a beautiful grove of giant California coastal redwood trees (Sequoia sempervirens). Sequoia Grove consistently makes great cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, syrah, chardonnay, and red blend wines. Bottom line: Great wine, great value, good people, and beautiful grounds at Sequoia Grove. Cheers!

We had a great visit here today with Tom, Christy and new employee Renee, we have been coming to this winery since my kids were just old enough to walk, now they have become wine club members, always a must stop when we’re in town.

We were there on 11 August and had a nice tasting with a server, who's name I've forgotten -- a nice blond woman on the quiet side. She did a good job and wanted to note that. As to the wine, we do love Sequoia wines and I've been a member for a while. We came with our picnic and enjoyed that out on the patio with a great Historic Vines Cabernet. The tasting room is beautiful and I've many fond memories of great tastings here with both family and friends.

a few years ago i did a blind tasting between sequoia grove and silver oak cabernets and i chose sequoia grove. i visited napa and found the sequoia grove winery...and i was not disappointed. the winery was charming and the wine suburb. i am a club member and proud supporter of sequoia grove wines.

5* across the board. For wine and food lovers, this is a must destination when in Napa. The lunch Pairing is an experience of a lifetime. The host, the chef, the food, the wine, the presentation and the attention to details are 5*.

My husband and I went on a private tour of wineries in Napa Valley. Our driver stopped at this winery last. We enjoyed not only the lady that conducted our tasting but the wine as well. We chose to join their wine club and our wine was delivered at home within a week.

A great experience for wine tasting and food pairings. We sat outside on the patio which makes you feel you are in the mountains. The winery is located right in the valley but takes you away while you enjoy the property.

First time in Napa Valley! We were so lucky to meet Dean at the Sequoia Grove winery. Best wine tasting and information in the Napa area. Wine was amazing. However what was even more outstanding was Dean's knowledgeable approach. From the different regions influences in wines to food pairing, and amazing wine tasting, it was definitely the highlight of the trip. Highly recommended!!!!

This winery was recommended by a friend who is a member of their wine club. He has never been to visit.
Once off the main road this place feels nice and comfortable. The Tasting room is very nice. Great outside sitting area.
Their wine is very fairly priced and good. When compared to other wineries such as Pride they are $10-40 a bottle less.
I wound recommend a stop, staff is nice and not at all pushy. No appointment needed for a small group, I believe 4 or less, just show up. I still would call just to make sure. The tasting fee is waves of you buy a bottle for each taster.
I enjoy to an occasional drink wine, but am not an expert, I enjoyed my experience here and bought 3 bottles of their wine. I would return to this winery on a future trip to Napa
Enjoy

I stumbled across this winery several years ago while visiting Napa and have been a fan ever since. Its a small intimate winery (it was when I was there and I think it still is) and has a great wine club. The manager knows your name when you call and they go out of their way to accommodate you. Its definitely worth a visit. You will not be disappointed! It's not inexpensive, but it's a great example of "you get what you pay for!"

Nice winery, great wines, lovely patio for enjoying a bottle and boxed lunch. Stop in and see for yourself.

We left San Francisco for Napa in the early afternoon. Not having much time, we stopped at Sequoia Grove Winery which was not too far north. Our hostess Cookie was the best! Not only was she knowledgeable and experienced, but interesting, conversational and friendly with our party of three. The tasting was reasonably priced and the wines were over the top! The tasting room was comfortable with a warm ambiance and nice appointments, though on the smaller side. There is a lovely, private area for a picnic. I would revisit again on another trip North to Napa!

Every time we are in Napa, we make sure we stop in at Sequoia Grove Winery. It's our absolute favorite winery for so many reasons.
1. The staff always treats us like family. They're welcoming and are so fun to chat with while we're tasting.
2. The wine is one of the best in Napa. We joined the wine club and couldn't be happier with our decision.
3. The sequoia trees welcome you to their tasting room which is casual and comfortable.
We highly recommend this winery.....you won't be disappointed.

After visiting many wineries we came upon Sequoia Grove and had the best wine tasting of our entire trip. Friendly people and very knowledgeable. Excellent time.

The wine pairing at Sequoia winery was fantastic. Highly recommend the experience. Very reasonable and the host and chef did a superb job!!!

I have never heard about this winery and I just stop by chance. We didn't want to make the whole tasting experience because we can't be drunk in the first stop... We asked for two glasses of their Cabernet Sauvignon, $75 a bottle, $15 a glass. Quite expensive but fantastic wine. It was a surprise that they don't sell a lot for outside California. I regret that...

I can't remember our server's name(too much wine?) but she was fantastic. We had the most personable person pouring wine for us. I should have done the review immediately.
This is a beautiful place and their wines were great. She poured us several wines and maybe 1 or 2 that weren't on the menu. We loved the reds and will definitely be back.

Gary Miller was our host and was incredibly helpful both in explaining what wines were available and about the growing processes. He took a lot of time to make the experience personal and enjoyable.

When I think back to our recent trip to Napa, our luncheon & wine pairing experience at Sequoia Grove was absolutely the highlight. If you're looking for a lunch spot during your Napa excursion, look no further! Well before we even left NYC for California, Lisa Thomas had reached out to make sure everything was expertly catered to our unique visit. The winery is a beautiful blend of rustic & modern, and the moment we walked in the door, Lisa was there to greet us with a huge smile and a stunning glass of wine. From there, the tasting & food pairing almost immediately began (even before we walked to the special dining room) with the most delightful pumpkin arancini. Following Lisa into our private tasting room, we were greeted with a lovely fireplace & massive round table -- perfectly setup to spark conversation & keep the entire experience informal & fun. Chef Britny Maureze introduced herself, and the four unique & absolutely delicious gourmet courses (the chef even prepared a very delicious vegetarian pairing for a member of our group) -- all highlighting the very special, very robust reds that Sequoia is known for. Paired with Lisa's extensive knowledge & incredible personality, our crew was smiling ear to ear throughout the entire experience. I've been so eager to tell everyone about this experience, and I can't wait to return to Sequoia with more friends in the near future. Seriously, just book your lunch with them now. You won't regret it!

We've been to the winery before for a wine tasting, but on this visit, we did the Wine & Food Experience. What a treat. The chef prepared food to accompany the wine, and it really enhanced the flavors of the wine. The food was awesome, the wine was awesome, but paired together in this setting made it tremendously better. Great job by their friendly staff. I would recommend you experience this tasting.

We are wine club members and always stop here to visit when out there. A well established winery that has been modernized in recent years; easy to locate, ample parking and delicious wines. We selected their sauvignon blanc this trip and their 2008 dessert wine; both of which are seductive.

This winery and experience exceeded my expectations! Hospitality staff was warm and friendly, and the wines are delicious!

Just an average experience, although a good value because we had 2 for 1 coupons. Our host was generous with the wine samples but the wine didn't hold a candle to Peju, our favorite.

We have been stopping here for years and recently became members.
Be careful- it is so much fun you might end up there for more than a quick visit if you know what I mean :)

If you want an in-depth vineyard to bottle experience, I highly recommend visiting Sequoia Grove and sign up for A Taste of Cabernet with Dean.
Dean's knowledge about each vineyard is amazing and he has pictures of the vineyards to show the differences in each.
What a great visit and tasting!

We visited Napa in 2015 and our hotel had a pass for wine tasting at this place. The staff was outstanding and the wine was perfect. We tasted wine from $20 to $100. What a place to visit.

Had a great tasting with Tom. The Cabernets are fantastic and I’d recommend that tasting. The 2013 Cambium is delicious. Also ran into HOF QB Jim Kelly. What a visit!

Stopped in here awhile back. Staff at the bar weren't overly friendly but let us take a few bottles to their patio. It's super quiet on their patio and a great place for a picnic. Wine was so so -- reds lacked balanced and were super tannic. But, patio and reasonable price made it worthwhile.

Love their wines, love being able to just drop by. Always fun, always a knowledgeable staff! Can't wait to go back or just for our shipment to come in!

The food and cabernet pairing experience was a highlight of our time in Napa. Luckily we were the only couple to book that day so it was a private experience with a very knowledgable host. The wine club has also been a nice surprise as they frequently have run specials and SQ is among our favorites for that reasonably-priced Rutherford goodness.

Had a wonderful time! Oscar took great care of us! Had a great knowledge of the wine and enjoys what he does. This is a hidden gem with AMAZING wine! This is a must see!

we loved our tasting room experience with Cheree so much that we joined their wine club--very reasonable terms, esp for Napa! All their wines were wonderful, not just their cabernets...we are so happy when we find "down-to-earth" service and atmosphere in Napa--very rare!

Passed Sequoia Grove on our recent trip to Napa and decided to stop in. My wife and I each did a tasting and enjoyed all of their wines particularly the cabernet. Our server was very friendly and walked us around and gave us a quick history of Sequoia Grove Winery which was interesting. We purchased some bottles and joined their wine club so we look forward to enjoying more of their wine in the future.

We stopped in here because my sister in law recommended it. My step brother had recently passed and I wanted to toast him. I can see why they loved it here. The wine was awesome and the service was great, even though they were busy. I loved the property too!

Stop by for tasting of one of the great Sequoia Grove wines or relax and enjoy a bottle with friends at a table under the sequoia trees. The people are friendly and informative and the wines really are great, especially if you enjoy an elegant cabernet. Well worth the visit!

Now that the smoke has cleared, we felt it was time to give back to the valley that has given us so many beautiful memories. One of our first stops traveling up valley is always Sequoia Grove Winery.
As strong and resilient as the tree it is named after, Sequoia Grove Winery is the antithesis of what Napa Valley used to be, and what it still can be. After being a patron of decades, I can honestly say that there remain only a handful of wineries that I can use as such an example of quality, fine wine making, and hospitality.
Please raise your glass as we do, every time we visit.

We have been wine club members for 5 years. They create outstanding wines at, probably, the most competitive pricing in Napa Valley. The site is landmarked by 2 huge sequoia trees that frame the entrance to the Winery. The winery has just been renovated and is more beautiful than ever. Sequoia Grove is a must visit on your next trip to Napa Valley.

Enjoyed our experience and hospitality / friendliness of the staff. Really enjoyed the wines and we are looking forward to including these on our wine list once we open our wine bar.

Our Inn Keeper recommended we try a wine pairing experience with Dean at Sequoia Grove. We consider ourselves rookies in wine tasting so thought it would be fun to learn a little bit about pairing wine with food.
Dean was terrific. He does a great job of explaining Cabs, the various regions where the grapes come from and how that affects each style of Cab. He also explains how various food types affect the taste of a Cab. He shares pictures, provides interesting facts and provides a brief tour of the winery along the way.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, which took about 90 minutes. We will be recommending this to any friends that visit the area.
Thanks for teaching us about Cabs Dean!
Don & Chandra

This winery is FUN from the moment you pull up to the mini Sequoia trees out front to entering the tasting room. The ladies doing the tastings are there to enjoy the time with you. There job is not done until they will find you something you can enjoy and take home with you. There really isn't a bad wine on the menu. They even have a new wine called Rebellious Red that was delightful. Never leave without purchasing the Balsamic Vinegar which pours like sweet chocolate or the Olive Oil which is so fresh. I love the bottles for my kitchen as well. Spend your money here!! They have tables out back were you can stay, open a bottle and enjoy the beautiful view.

We went for the food pairing - the food was gourmet and excellent. There were 16 in our tasting group in total - which we didn’t expect - but it was handled very well and felt very personal. The wines were very good and paired well with the food. Best food and wine pairing we’ve done.

My two friends and I tried to visit the winery, when our other reservation elsewhere in napa did not pan out.
We went without reservation hoping something could be arranged. The lady present ignored us for the first ten minutes and then told us nothing can be done, we can’t do a tasting, can’t even have one glass to try. We were quitebtaken aback.
The lady relented in the end andbtold us she might have a spot in the afternoon. But since we had a driver, she said that our designated driver would not get anything.
Unfriendly and offputting. When I asked about what wine I could buy she was also not interested in helping me choose. We felt like unwanted interlopers. We declined the reservation and went to inglenook, where people were much nicer.

Since my first posting, my wife and I have tried MANY more wines, kicked off by our Napa experience. We've had several other Cabs, some more expensive than Sequoia Grove's, including 2nd growth Bordeauxs and a Heidi Barrett product, and our conclusion is always the same...Sequoia Grove is still among our favorites. With neighbors like Opus One, Cakebread, and Beaulieu and Grgich Hills, we feel Sequoia Grove's wines represent the hidden value you are looking for in wines from this region while getting a SUPERIOR expression. Still club members and it would take a VERY impressive winery to change our minds. (Visited April 2016).

Went here with a group of friends and we had an amazing time! If looking for a place to relax here is the spot!

We stopped in here for a quick tasting, and fortunately there were no reservations required. We walked up to the bar and game on. We tasted a good number of their cabernets, and they most definitely had some excellent wines to taste, at a reasonable price. Overall, a nice experience tasting their wines, in a reasonable setting. Nothing exceptionable about the facility, but bonus point for having good wines.

Very friendly with great wines. We have been a member of the wine club for several years. One of the best

Sequoia Grove was the first of six wineries we visited during our trip to Napa, and we knew immediately that the bar was going to be set high. Oscar, our host, was so lovely, and enthusiastically answered all of our questions. The wines were outstanding and it was an easy decision to join the club. Everyone at Sequoia made us feel so welcome. Can't wait to return!

We stumbled across Sequioa Groce on our trip, and it became a favorite. The wine is incredible, and loved our visit to the winery. We became wine club members on the sot, and have been for several years now. Fabulous reds!

Very friendly and charming hostess. Good wines. Stately grove of massive sequoia trees provide shade for the winery. Pet friendly.

Friendly staff and an AMAZINGGG rose’!!! Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. They even let us share a tasting since I was driving which I really appreciated.

We visited this place last Saturday with our daughter and family and a couple of their friends. The tastings were generous portions and the wine-pourer was good about giving us information about each wine. We bought several bottles to bring home.

We were referred to this winery by a close friend who is a member of the wine club. We arrived and were given a very nice Chardonnay to sip on before our tasting.
We were fortunate to get Darleen as our hostess for the tasting. She walked us through each wine and its origin, style and tarting notes. Let me just say she was spot on and knew her stuff - from the earthy notes to the spicy notes, her insights were invaluable.
Highly recommend this winery and make sure to ask for Darleen!

Our tasting "guide" was absolutely amazing. From the stories, to personal experience, he spent the perfect amount of time with us, and we felt like we absolutely were important to him and the winery.
On top of that - the wines are AMAZING!!!!!!
The only draw back was I had to send or first shipment to our daughter who was with us and said this was her favorite!!!

Sequoia Grove was our first stop of three and our favorite. The wines were delicious and moderately priced. Our host, Renee, was very knowledgeable, patient and provided great pours.
Renee was genuinely interested in our opinion of the wine and experience, but more importantly, made us feel like special customers.

We had the most wonderful time during our visit to California. Our highlight was our wine and food paring at Sequoia Grove. Learned a lot in the time spent during our tasting. Phenomenal cabs! Only Cali winery that we felt worthy of being members of their wine club. Sequoia Grove is a very comfortable, cozy and welcoming place. This is definitely a "To Do" to anyone who enjoys a good cab. We live in the Midwest, and look forward to a return someday.

My husband and I visited on a Saturday afternoon with no reservations. We were quickly welcomed by Tom who proceeded to share his vast knowledge of the wines that Sequoia offers. The wines are very nice with a wide variety of prices. Tom's attention to detail with descriptions of each varietal truly made my appreciation of each wine more real. Although we didn't use it, the patio looks like a great place to relax and enjoy a glass. I recommend a visit!

One of the best tours in the valley and clearly some of the best wines around. I live in the great state of Tennessee and have been a Sequoia Grove wine club members for years! I enjoy sharing this great wines with friends.

The first time I tasted wines at Sequoia Grove, I fell in love. I've been a wine club member ever since (5 years so far). The staff is so friendly and the outdoor space is great for bringing snacks or attending their Lobster Feed event. I always recommend this winery to friends.

As a Napa local, this is the worst winery I visited. Not because of their wine, which was good, but because of the horrible customer service. The wine industry is personable; customer service makes or breaks an experience. Unfortunately, Sequoia Grove lacks tasting room employees with basic customer service skills.
She never introduced herself, so I do not know her name but she is older with red hair. Upon greeting her, she snippedly spoke to me when she couldn’t find my reservation. I told her it was okay; I rescheduled the tasting so I expected an issue because of this. Instead of calling to verify, she told me that they could still host me without a reservation. Throughout the half hour tasting, she continued to be short and rude with me. At least she explained the wines, but her inflection and facial expressions conveyed the sense that I was unwelcome.
I hoped to leave sooner, but the person who gifted me the tasting mentioned ordering something special and asked that I pick up a bottle for them. This interaction was noted through email exchanges and phone calls that Sequoia Grove’s wonderful customer service employees exchanged. I called to double check with the gifter who confirmed they order something special but said to not worry about it. The woman asked what they said and I told her that they requested something, but said it was fine. I also added that I would pay the $30 tasting fee.
Instead, the woman escalated a non-issue by calling the management. I think she thought I was scamming her. Unfortunately for her, her management confirmed my version of events. Rather than apologize or drop it, she got off the phone and quickly put a bottle in a bag and shoved it across the counter to me. She ended our interaction with “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth; it’s 96 points.” I returned the wine to her and said have a nice day.
I won’t be back to this winery and I caution those who may visit. Sequoia Grove is a poor choice of a winery in the valley. There are so many personable and welcoming wineries that are family-run and passionate about creating delicious wines. Wine tasting isn’t just about the alcohol, but the people who love to create and contribute to this product. I would feel terrible if this was someone else’s experience as well.
Also, I want to note that Sequoia Grove has very considerate customer service reps who heard my issue and extended an invitation to return. I won’t return but I appreciate the sentiment.

Great wines and knowledgeable people who make your visit educational and hospitable . A must visit to Napa

What a beautiful winery. They picked up A a believable host with Oscar he knows how to treat you right and serve you amazing wines!! Don’t miss it!

Excellent wine, beautiful grounds, excellent service and we learned a ton about their wine making process- where the grapes come from, aging of wines, and suggestions based on our preferred tastes. Had a great time and Cooky added to the visit! We really enjoyed talking with her and learning about the winery.

Sequoia Grove is a true gem. The wines are beautiful, from the layered single vineyard Cabernets to the superb Rebellious Red blend and well balanced Chardonnay. The tasting room is welcoming; staffed by knowledgeable and friendly professionals, Sequoia Grove provides a relaxed atmosphere where the wines truly shine. The wines are among the best in Napa but without the pretension and exhorbitant prices of her neighbors. The beautiful wines, great value, and relaxed atmosphere make it a "must stop" on highway 29.
Tip: If you have some extra time, book a "Taste of Cabernet" experience for a lesson in terroir. The side by side tastings paired with food is unforgettable and educational. You will walk away with an understanding of "mountain fruit," "valley fruit," and more.

Food was amazing, the wine is always good, the service as always fantastic. Great way to spend a Saturday in Napa.

The people in the tasting room are very friendly. And the wine is exceptional. The cabs are soft, velvety, and bold and priced well for the quality. The Syrah is quite good, too. We also visited in back of the tasting room and met the wine maker.

On a recent trip to Napa, My husband and I were looking for a small winery that we had not previously heard of, hoping to find a hidden treasure. Thanks to online reviews, we decided to visit Sequoia Grove. What a treat! Everything about our visit was outstanding. We booked the cab tasting and had Lisa as our hostess. The wines were amazing and Lisa was very friendly and knowledgeable. These were some of the best wines we had ever had. It was such a terrific experience that we joined their wine club. I highly recommend this small winery.

My husband and I felt right at home upon arriving to Sequoia Grove Winery. A staff member gave us a personal one-on-one tour as we sipped delicious red wine! She even showed us great spots for photos and shared with us the history of the vineyard. We were pleased to find our favorite wine was sold in a grocery store near our home on the East Coast! Great value!

My wife and I rolled into this winery last weekend and to our great surprise, they were doing this special occasion (Saturday/Sunday) thing where they pour one of the wine out of a HUGE 6 Liter bottle. It was so cool as that's something usually only seen at big charity auction events and on special occasions. They teach you how the wine ages differently in the larger bottles too. Very cool. And also very dangerous as I bought one of them for my daughters birth year present. What kind of father am I???

During our trip to the area for a weeding we happened upon Sequoia Grove. We tasted everything they had to offer that day. The Chardonnay sold us. We normally taste and maybe buy a bottle or two but in this case, since we could not get it at home in NH we decided to join the wine club. It was that good. As we have gotten each shipment it is like Christmas every time! We make a night of it with one bottle and then save the rest for future special events.
During the tasting we were impressed with the knowledge of the person pouring. He answered all out questions and even then led us into other conversations in areas we did not know about. It was so great to sit, drink the wine, and learn more about the grapes, the vines, the soil, the terroir, everything. It really enhanced the entire visit.
I recommend them highly whether you are an old hand at tasting or just getting started. The knowledge, the experience, and most importantly, the wine was first rate!

Sequoia Grove is a medium-sized winery in Napa County (actually in Rutherford) that produces excellent wines. We had been turned onto it by our son's family, who are members of their wine club, and were very pleasantly impressed by their offerings. We had had their Cabernet Sauvignon wines, which one can sometimes find in grocery stores, but they have others as well available to purchase. We ended up buying a case! They are quite different from the Sonoma wines that we know better than the Napa wines. One benefit to some people; if you are a member of the St Francis wine club (as we are), this is a sister winery, and you can purchase wines from Sequoia Grove at the wine club discount.

Don't drive by Sequoia Grove Winery! We have always enjoyed their wine and on this trip tasted their reserve blends. Eric Jensen, the wine educator, was fabulous. He was very knowledgeable and generous with his time. The outside area with the surrounding Sequoia trees is a very peaceful and lovely shaded place to enjoy wine.

Highly recommended. Incredible wine, food, and overall pairings. Fun intimate setting with ~10 people. Our host was great. Tables arranged in a circle. We really learned a lot about what kind of food to pair with their wines. Also felt like a good amount of time. Not too short or long. 90 minutes.

Great people, wonderful wine and a nice relaxing spot!! The ambiance is fantastic and they also have good cheese and snacks. A nice spot off the beaten path. I joined the wine club and look forward to every shipment.

Originally this was not on our list of stops but frogs leap sent us this way when we inquired about a good place for a picnic. First off the wines are one of our favorites in the valley. Every one we tried was wonderful. Their Gewürztraminer is my favorite by far. It was sweet, but not overpowering and just perfect. It's one of the few that allow picnicking and the wines are very reasonable and perfect for picnicking. Sitting under 8 giant sequoias with the mountains in the back is hard to beat. This was our last stop and so happy we did. Our next trip will absolutely include this winery. I wish them the best ...this is truly a spectacular setting with wonderful wines.

The Cabs are very good and we just love the Morisoli Vineyards Cabernet 2012. Each time we stop by we're greeted warmly and feel just as welcomed. Love it...this is a must stop when traveling up the Saint Helena Hwy among the way-to-many wineries.
A Taste for Cabernet
This was a great learning experience for Cabernet beginners. We actually did this tasting to start our first day, which was perfect. We got to use what we learned at all of the other vineyards. Dean was a terrific host and made everyone in the group feel comfortable and relaxed.
