A must see if your coming to the island. Great restaurants all with happy hour if needed. Kids menus and just a lot of fun for the entire family.

By Julia M |

Shelter Cove is a great place to visit by boat or by car. Plenty of great shopping, live music, and super restaurants that range from super casual to nicer upscale places. If you are coming by boat, just call the harbormaster when you enter the marina and they will direct you to an appropriate transient slip. If you are coming by car, there are plenty of parking options.

It is a relative small complex with just a handfull of shops and restaurants. The restaurants are just average compared to others on the island. The only shop that is interesting is the craft store sitting outside the Neptune sun dial. It’s worth about 2 hours of your time. You may find the hatch’s and sailboats moored there to be the most interesting part of the complex.

By Shelliu |

The perfect place to go for families. Full of restaurants, lots of shops, and they have a singer for kids daily and other activities with fireworks in Tuesday. It was a ton of fun for all ages. Parking is sometimes challenging but if you are willing to walk a little bit, it’s not bad.

By John B |

Staying at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, we often walked over to Shelter Cove to grab dinner, shop in the multiple stores, or just walk along the walkway surrounding the cove. It was peacefull watching the boats in the marina and the numerous birds flying around. Great for someone trying to get some exercising while enjoying the view.

By Reesa D |

Offers shops and four eating establishments, Also Art shops, with very expensive items. Boutiques are very pricey as well.

By Dawn P |

Had not been to Shelter Cove in years! I forgot how beautiful it is and how much shopping they have. I loved Tradewinds store. Got my granddaughter a mermaid ring which she loved! Will def remember this for next year.

By mgb57 |

Wonderful shopping and dining venue with plenty of free parking. Beautiful stroll along yacht-filled harbor makes for a nice break from the beach.

By Shipper S |

Very good hotel at it is fine! Amazing staff and people. Thanks for the support! Certainly will visit again. Well done to everyone!

By AEV2019 |

Shelter Cove is a great area! Definitely would recommend putting it on your to do list. Whether you’re looking to visit the bakery for breakfast or to pick up some pastries for later in the day, sit by the harbor while you eat and enjoy the view or do some shopping. There’s something here for everyone. It’s a great place to go morning mid day or evening depending on what you’re interested in doing! Be sure to look at the schedule for evening fireworks

By Dean3839 |

If you like marinas, shopping and eating this is a great place to go. There are many boats of all shapes and sizes. There are boats, kayaks and stuff to rent too. The marina store is located on the entrance channel coming into the marina by boat.

By JohnUSAtraveler |

I have been here a number if time. I like lunch time eating outside and looking at the boats in the marina. Very relaxing. All the restaurants are nice.

By Hermann24 |

Came on our 34 Mainship for 2 nights and ended up staying 5. Shawn was great. Helped with the lines and provided us with plenty of suggestions on things to do. Lots of restaurants and shopping. Everyone was very friendly and nice. I highly recommend we will be back.

Paddle boarding at the Shelter Cove Marina with Pippi was awesome! She gives a quick, yet thorough explanation of the equipment and maneuvers involved in Stand-Up Paddle boarding. With her tips, we felt extremely comfortable riding the water and enjoying the sights. We absolutely loved the experience and highly recommend it as a vacation activity, or just something fun to do if you live on the Island.

We come to Hilton Head Island for many years, usually once a year, and Shelter Cove Marina is one of our favorite places on the island. We come here with family and friends, explore restaurants and shops, take boat tours .
The day after the Thanksgiving Santa pays his annual visit here, arguably the most popular event of the year. This always brings a lot of joy to the youngest members of our family.
The beautiful Neptune statue is the most popular photo spot here. The marina and the boats always look picturesque and tranquil .
This is the destination to keep coming back to.

By DominatorDom |

We spent a day at Shelter Cove having coffee, walking around and talking with boat owners and shop owners. We were very impressed with the area and its beautiful eateries and shops. We were glad to visit for the day and would certainly go back again when were are in town.

By Steve C |

We enjoyed renting a pontoon boat for 1/2 day. Fun time out Broad Creek into the sound. Saw a couple of dolphins (porpoises) and enjoyed the scenery.

By Stacy G |

Absolutely beautiful marina. Lots of walking paths to look at the boats and lots of activities like kayaks, boat rides, fishing trips etc. Little gift shops and restaurants are all around. Loved this place!

By Ellen T |

My extended family of 17 people had a wonderful experience at the Shelter Cove Marriott. The facilities were wonderful and we super enjoyed our time together!

By SpencerCoffman |

This is a nice place to walk around and take in the scenery. There are so many boats to look at as well as a lot of shops around. The only trouble is that the prices are definitely priced for tourists. They are high.

The sidewalk is pretty awesome though. They have shells placed in there for decoration. I recommend strolling around if you go for a boat tour. However, it’s not really worth making a special trip simply to see the harbor.

By Patrick H |

We had chartered a boat for my family to go “ tubing” and dolphin watching. The captain Andrew was really cool and the whole family had a great time.

By natalia |

We’ve been coming here for years and always come back to this area. There are plenty of places to get drinks, ice cream, buy souvenirs, and walk around. There are fireworks on Tuesdays in the summer. Great energy, beautiful marina!!

By RAAREE |

This is a great area to walk around and spend the evening! Many shops to spend time and lots of boats to look at. It makes for a relaxing evening after spending all day at the beach!!

By mugsync |

We stayed on an AirBnB boat at the marina.
We loved being able to walk or bike to the restaurants and shopping. Scott’s and San Miguel’s had music a couple nights and it was fun to be able to pop in for a drink and enjoy the music.
Our AirBnB had a very small bathroom so we showed at the Ship Store. Showers were clean and not heavily used by others.
We plan to return to this marina with different accommodations.

By Bill B |

Great experience at docks while renting a boat for a day. All Shelter Cove customer service people were very friendly and helpful. Made us feel welcome!

By Mark G |

The Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina area has a great combination of restaurants, residences, shops and views. We have eaten at Scotts Fish Markets and Bucci & Murray's, both with good food, music and views of the boats and marina. There is an attractive waterside walkway thru the complex.

By Robin S |

Great outdoor mall with lots of superb restaurants and shops. Good amount of parking. Worth a trip to Shelter Cove to browse some local and national shops.

By Carol N |

I love going to the marina and seeing all the boats in the harbor. It just brings so many memories of my childhood when my family had a boat.

By susanlynnp |

nice area see see boats, shops be outside. nice way to end night with fireworks. didn't eat there but looked like lots of neat places to eat without side seating and music

By MAP1080 |

Nice area for walking, shopping and grabbing a bite to eat. The Social Bakery has lots to choose from, and the chicken crepe at Bistro 17 is delicious for lunch. Nash Gallery is also fun to browse. Check it out...

By Kaybee66 |

Phantom Fishing with CAPT Jason. The captain did an excellent job getting us on some nice sharks. Bull and Sharpnose. Saw a bunch of dolphins in and out the waterway too. Family had a great time in the evening, good weather and beautiful sunset to boot. Would def recommend

By Kara D |

Terrible experience. KATE is the worst. Completely messed up our reservation (even after I called to confirm) and offered no assistance to rebook.

By Christian Powers |

Great place to see the fireworks every week in the summer! Lots of cool restaurants and shops right on the harbor!

By joanie30735 |

Very nice place that we stumbled upon! Great place to do some relaxing shopping and then grab a bite to eat at one of the many places they have. All this is right on the water. Would visit again for sure! Enjoyed our time here!!

By Bob W |

Captain Mike was incredible. Best deep sea fishing experience ive ever had. From the moment we anchored we were in fish. Caught many different species but the highlight of it all I caught an 11’ 700-800 pound tiger shark. I cannot recommend them enough. Gullah Gal is an awesome boat to fish off of also. With this outfit you want for nothing. Can’t wait for the next adventure with Mike. And as for shelter cove marina, Cindy the manager was as excited as we were. She was also a lot of fun. Overall had the fishing trip of a lifetime. Bob

By Vicki B |

We always plan a visit when we are in the area. We enjoy walking around and enjoying the atmosphere and people watching even if only for on hour.

By Cliff W |

Great place to shop, eat or just hang out. Good selection of restaurants and right on the harbour.
Family entertainment on Tuesday nights during tourist season

By Karen C |

Beautiful Marina.
We happened to be visiting during the pandemic but it was still lovely to walk around.
Plus our favorite Outfitters NATIVE SON ADVENTURES leaves out of here.
Worth a visit !

By Tara C |

We actually went here twice! The first time they had a childrens performer and a clown in the center square. We stop and enjoyed the show, The kids were so cute. Shopped a little and went to San Miguel's for dinner ( which was excellent . We sat outside and enjoyed the weather and live music. Then we walked the docks and enjoyed the evening air and sites.

By Kay P |

Want a great picture with the kids? Go to Shelter Cove Harbour and Marina. As you enter there is a huge statue of King Neptune which is actually a working sun dial. My grand sons were amazed to see it actually working. We had fun telling time by the sun dial and not looking at our watches.

By G R |

Had a great time fishing on the boat we rented here. The Harbormaster, Jason, as well as the employees were super nice and helpful. We were also able to purchase live minnows here which was super convenient. Overall a great experience.

By Monica C |

Lots of family friendly entertainment. Must do. We thoroughly enjoyed the nightly entertainment and fireworks.

By Cat |

This little cove is a blend of specialty shops, restaurants, marina, lighthouse/museum and boat tours.
A definite must do is a visit to the lighthouse. Benches and rockers offer idyllic locations to sit and watch the world go by. This is a great place to go on a day when clouds may deter a visit to a beach. The area is not large so planning a few hours and including a meal at a restaurant is a good idea. There is a playground and public restrooms. A nominal per car cash entrance fee is charged as you enter the property as it is a gated community.

By marketta h |

Went on a boat ride for my 1st cousin Bachelorette weekend. Had the pleasure to have Captain Mike Sutherland as our captain. Very nice and funny. He even toast! Definitely would do again

By Michelle H |

It was blazing hot the day we went. Escaped in-and-out of stores. Did not buy a thing but a nice flat walk and fun to explore.

By Hbc8 |

A pleasure to walk around, visit the different shops, stop for a bite to eat and enjoy the day. Plenty of seating if you just want to sit and rest. Late in the day is a wonderful time to view the sunset and the many boats in the harbor and parking may be less of a hassle.

Remember if you stop to eat, tell the server and (had to spend $25) the $8 fee was taken off the bill.

By Brian B |

This area has some very good restaurants, great views of some big boats. There are also several kayak and boat rental companies that offer some great excursions. They best are the evening trips were you can watch the fireworks from your kayak!

By Lori |

We love shopping, eating and biking around Shelter Cove. They have added a whole new shopping and dining area since our last visit to HH in 2018. Very nice!

By Carole M |

An phenomenal water experience on a Craig cat. Our terrific guide Bailey made it so much fun. Saw dolphins and neighboring islands.

By Brittany C |

Tons of shopping, boat watching, fireworks, rentals. Be sure to go when Shannon Tanner is performing, fun for the entire family.

By Janice H |

We ate lunch and dinner at two different restaurants. There were quite a few restaurants from which to choose. We enjoyed both meals! The service was very good and the prices reasonable. After dinner, we enjoyed the activities along the waterfront. Fireworks at dusk were excellent.

By Btsygrl |

Historically, it escapes me how Shannon Tanner and Co. is still allowed to perform his kiddie show center stage in Shelter Cove 5-6 days a week??? and not in Disney World. Shelter Cove is way too adult oriented with Bistro restaurants and waterfront bars and yachts which for the most part have more talented musicians. To make matters worse, the volume of Shannon T's music is overwhelming and is extremely disruptive to patrons in adjacent restaurants/bars who hire their own musicians and are performing at the same time. The entertainment committee needs to mix things up nightly with other types of upbeat adult music and send S.T. to Disney World.

By Nashville_brent_65 |

We went over here for Tuesday night fireworks and ate dinner.
It was a hot week and very little breeze over here.
The fireworks were pretty good and gave us something neat to do with little kids.

By BobandLeslie2014 |

We went here to visit a restaurant that was great. We walked around for about half an hour just strolling the grounds around the dock area. Nice stores, very clean and lots of boats to look at.

By Chris A |

There are some nice little shops to go in to as well as get a nice scoop of ice cream on a hot day. This is great to get out and see some of the areas of Hiliton Head Island. We always check this place out when we are in HHI

By cribben2 |

We had a few days vacation at the Disney Hilton Head Resort and I love that the Shelter Cove area is adjacent...a perfect walk for dining options without having to drive from the resort. Expect to be "wowed" by the array of private and charter boats along Shelter Cove area...and we were also treated to a beautiful sunset every night of our trip. Many local restaurants also give a discount to visitors staying in local lodging....cant hurt to inquire (we usually saved at least 10% by showing our Disney room key).

By JPofSC |

No trip to Hilton Head would be complete without at least one visit to Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina. Lots of restaurants, gift shops, and boat/dolphin cruises (Captain Mark’s Dolphin Cruise is great, although if you take the 7:30 sunset cruise on Tuesday you get a fireworks display as well. Book early!). Worth the stop!

By PriorityBob |

We have been coming here for about 30 years, and Shelter Cove is always a nice place to stroll leisurely through shops and look at a number of large yachts in the marina. Disappointing this year in that a few of the stores have closed and suspect that is due to a relatively new shopping complex just up the street. One restaurant was closed at 8:00 PM. Enjoy listening to Shannon Tanner sing in the evenings at the band stage, and he is great with little kids.

By StigJim |

Not only did our dolphin cruise leave from here, but we had lunch at Bistro 17, one of several restaurants on the harbor. We’re not “boat people,” but checking out the sail boats and impressive yachts was fun. We only went into a couple of shops, but there were several more that looked like they might appeal to specialty shoppers. The giant King Neptune sundial is also fun to see, although Daylight Savings Time seems to have thrown him for a loop…

By robert r |

Ate at Ella's and took sunset dolphin cruise from the pier. Both were excellent. Good place to explore and find options on how to spend your vacation or just take a walk and look at all the boats.

By LydiaBendr |

The marina is beautiful. We met our boat captain here for an eco tour. The shop had a lot to offer and the public bathrooms were clean.

By andersonse14 |

First of all, you pay $6 to even go to this end of the island, why?? Waste of money and time. Just a bunch of over-priced shops. Save yourself the money and go to the beach instead.

By teamlivingston |

Shelter Cove is so family-friendly there is a park there and a great view of the fireworks on Tuesday evenings! Shannon Tanner also puts on shows there during the week and it is so much fun and the children loved it !

By Lois L |

We were looking for Captain's Mark Dauphin cruise and it was located in Shelter Cove Harbor and Marina. After the cruise, we visited the shops, had ice cream sat in their rocking chairs outside overlooking the Marina and spent a nice day. There is an outside bar overlooking the Marina. We also walked over to the Disney Resort on it's own island. That was interesting. Lots of walkways to enjoy the area

By kendellbrink |

Have lived here for 11 years and finally made the trek to Shelter Cove for this 9pm weekly event running during the summer months. Beautiful 15 minute firework display in the cove with a robust finale. The area is crowded so an early arrival is recommended. All in, a lovely display and glad we were able to enjoy it from the balcony of our Marriott Sunset Pointe accommodations.

By Susan W |

Learned about this from some local advertisements. So glad we took time to visit. We had a nice stroll, popped into a few shops and bought a few goodies, and enjoyed the sights. We will return for dinner at one of the multiple restaurants located on the boardwalk. Very pleasant 90 minutes or so spent here so far on this trip.

By Blake C |

Very nice place. Interesting shopping and restaurants. We went for fireworks on Tuesday. They had great entertainment for the kids. There were lots of people and the parking area is well organized. I wish we had arrived more than an hour before the fireworks. Had a great time and people were nice to each other and not pushy.

By richards192017 |

When staying on the Island , I always bike down to Shelter Cove several times. There is a lot to see and do. In the summer they have concerts on Thursday which are fantastic.

By yenneks |

Great area for short term docking or longer rentals. Plus a nice, compact environment surrounds you with numerous restaurants, an incredible bakery, timely live music, unique shopping and all the fishing and boating supplies you will need to carry on to your next destination.

By LydiasS |

We enjoyed walking along the harbor and seeing boats of all sizes anchored there. We were able to talk to tour guides out on the docks about their offerings. Lots of restaurants and shopping at this location.

By jbbyers67 |

What a quaint area! Nice boats in marina. Easy fishing. Enjoyable stroll. If in Shelter Cove, visit and grab a bite to eat then enjoy the scenery!

By Stephen K |

Booked a fishing trip with Captain Jason aboard the Phantom. Caught many sharks, pinfish, sea bass, Croaker's, and then slammed two hammer kingfish! My 9yr. Old had a blast on his first ever saltwater fishing trip. Captain Jason showed us one for the books! The Captain worked hard for us and put us on the fish! We'll be back!

By Happy Nonna |

Small shopping area set around the marina. You can sit in the shade and enjoy the cool breezes off the water. Plenty of restaurants and a cute ice cream parlor that sells Italian ices, ice cream and gelato.

By Thomas T |

Felt like I was in the show The Outer Banks! Such a cool experience. A lot of great views and cool areas to boat through. Highly recommend.

By Dave-Laurie C |

Spent the afternoon enjoying a walk on the promenade looking at all the boats decorated for Christmas. Checked out some of the fun shops, bakery, and restaurant menus for next time. This was the off season but we could tell this would be a fun place to listen to live music and people watch during high season.

We have been boating for over ten years in the Pacific NW and now the Southern Atlantic in our new 70E Ocean Alexander. We crew the boat ourselves, enjoying the privacy without a captain and crew. Our boating experiences at dozens of marinas range from fully depreciated docks to the newest with the latest. Service ranges from being ignored to having every service offered and a phone follow-up to see if we needed anything.
Last summer we leased a slip at Shelter cover Marina for six months to escape the 'hurricane zone' to maintain insurance coverage. The shops and restaurants offer excellent choices from casual to fine dining. However, the most notable experience was the service provided by the Dockmaster Jason Wheeler and his dock crews. The Shelter Cove service is the best we have experienced anywhere! Jason even arranged for and monitored interior and exterior washing and detailing. He even assisted us in securing the boat when Hurricane Irma approached and everyone was forced to evacuate. When the tide was negative and we were near the bottom, he shut down our sea water systems, so as not to suck up mud-then cleaned ad inspected sea water strainers when restarting. This was all part of the service without additional fees.
After the storm, he and his crew reassembled our enclosures and inspected our new boat for systems operation.
We just can't say enough about the great service given at Shelter Cover Marina. It is no wonder that securing a slip requires reservations-sometimes months in advance.
Do not hesitate to make plans to stay at this incredible place-with such competent and gracious staff. We are very grateful and will be back for a visit.

Visiting Hilton Head with my family. Wife, daughter, grandkids. Rented a pontoon boat from Shelter Cove Marina. Had a great day on the water. Grandkids caught fish, daughter caught a tan and my wife and I had fun just cruising around the waterways.

By VacaNate |

Lots of good places to eat and shop
Or just listen to music. Live music must nights. Nice art galleries to visit and don’t forget to grab some dessert or ice cream and enjoy a nice walk on the marina. You can also taking boating, fishing and kayaking tips there as well. A must see on your trip to HH.

By Priscilla V |

The marina is a short bike ride away from Palmetto Dunes Plantation and it's one of our favorite places to ride in the morning. I really want to love this place but so much of it is empty. It has so much potential but I have never seen it busy. This was my fifth trip to Hilton Head and it's never been bustling. We've been all times of the day for various activities including the magic show in the evening, dolphin boat cruises and dinner and never seen it crowded. There are some nice restaurants here to check out. We like the Mexican place because you can sit outside and enjoy the view and it's a nice break from seafood. There are shops but not a whole lot of variety. There is an ice cream shop that's nice to visit if it's super hot out as well. We like looking at all of the boats on the water but I'd really love to see this place full with more options for dining and shopping!

By DANA W |

Nice place to visit and kick back. Nice scenery with plenty of vacation rentals surrounding the harbour. Small free parking lot nearby with more parking within walking distance. Bring a good camera, wear light clothing and comfortable walking shoes, especially during the summer and fall months.

By Nancy3568 |

Our afternoon on our rented pontoon boat was great fun. We had five adults and 6 children and each of us took away a lasting memory. The boat was in great shape, we had no issues with its operation, and the three hour trip came off flawlessly. I had to change the booking date twice due to concerning weather forecasts but, the person with whom I interacted was very kind and open to the idea of the date changes. There was no additional charge and no hassle with the request. I would highly recommend this marina for any boat rental.

By laceylouise |

Overpriced shopping, some boats to look at and an extremely hot part of the island with no breeze pretty much sums up the shelter Cove Harbor and Marina for me.

By Lynn Abramson |

Walking around marina. Staying at a condo that overlooks Marsh. Eating a French bakery with the best croissant

By Ko3199 |

We visited this area for shopping. They had some nice stores, including a Christmas store, which is my favorite. We found some nice souvenirs to purchase and enjoyed looking at the boats and the outside eating areas. It was a very nice area and not overly busy like some of the other tourist areas.

By 1981denisec |

Boating, Shopping, Restaurants and much more! You can actually spend the entire day at Shelter Cove.

By BreezySummerIII |

Cute marina atmosphere with neat places to listen to some good talent. Fun to walk around, shop, eat, drink, and schedule a fun activity.

By Louann1958 |

We rode our bikes to shelter cove and watched the sunset over the Marina. Absolutely beautifull! This is a wonderful place to eat and just enjoy your family. Don’t miss visiting while your in the area.

By David Lillich un |

We ended up here several nights during our HHi stay because of the selection of restaurants and
the HHi "just getting there is 'half the problem" (it is HARD to find where to go on HHi because of very little street lighting and the vegatation covering up the names of restaurants, shops, everything.
Pretty, but ...use your nav'
OKAY, back to business:
Music, $Shoppes$, läzy-bars, a selection

By fab4Ma |

Great area for dining & shopping, great view for fireworks on Tuesdays. Just a suggestion, if you are staying at Palmetto Dunes, take advantage of the Dunes buggy van service, parking is difficult there. They picked us up at our condo and dropped and picked us up at the same location. Van servic e only runs until 9 except on Tuesday nights for the fireworks.

By bob p |

This is a nice place to visit. There is shopping, nice restaurants, and nice walk way and of course the harbor views. In addition, during the summer they have entertainment and car shows.

By Angela837 |

We've returned to Hilton Head, and specifically Shelter Cove to enjoy Shannon Tanner, year after year. We've also been to Harbor Town as they have a similar environment and children's entertainer, but we think Shelter Cove is better and Shannon Tanner is superior to the person playing at Harbor Town. He loves kids and revolves the show around them, while still covering songs that adults enjoy from the Beatles, Bare Naked Ladies, etc. A fun night in a beautiful location!

By dgpete |

Shelter Cove Marina is a great hurricane hole location and the staff is wonderful. Surrounded by shops and restaurants, it's a great marina if you are cruising the area. Walking distance to a Krogers, Whole Foods, Belks, and a zillion other stores!

By Beth B |

We recently stayed in Shelter Cove Marina for 2 weeks. We have been traveling from Rhode Island to Florida. Our stay out Shelter Cove was amazing from a beautiful, spotless marina, great service from Jason the dock manager and his team and wonderful restaurants right at the dock and great wi. This is the best marina we have stayed in our entire trip and plan to return.

By Thomas M |

Last week of October should be at peak or near peak Redfish fishing. Our trip started off with captain forgetting we had a charter. After calling him, he showed up in 45 minutes. We described what we wanted to fish for which was Bull Redfish and then a slot Redfish for dinner. Not interested in sharks. Captain described HHI to me as not a good place to surf fish or pier fish "You need a boat to fish." The fish caught were bull sharks. If like to pulling in a 5 gallon bucket in the tide current, then shark fishing is for you. Very disappointing for peak fishing season for Redfish and Trout. Needless to say we didn't stop or try for a slot Redfish either. Suggest locating another fleet for charter. BTW, I found a pier to fish from and caught some trout on my own.

By David W |

This area has a few upscale shops, souvenirs of Hilton Head and a good blend of restaurants.
Walk around, enjoy the sights, sound and people watch. Then grab a bite and drink and listen to music ( most places have afternoon or nightly entertainment. Perfect area to visit.

By Susie J |

We always love this harbour. It is a yearly stay for us. The condos available to rent there give you easy access to everything the harbour has to offer. We try to always stay where we can watch everything from our patio. All that we need is just steps or an easy car ride away (for groceries etc.).

By Ray P |

Amazing views, Great for walking and enjoying with family and friends. Plenty to see and do. Go out and walk!

By Gary R. |

Heard about this area. Drove by didn't look my much. Came back next night got out car.. cant see marina from parking lot. What a fun time.. free outdoor concert and meal in a wonderful location occurred.

By SRuss |

This area has everything! Great restaurants, shops, boat trips, rocking chairs to enjoy the harbor. Very family friendly. Easy parking and centrally located on the island.

By Xcountry17 |

Within 5 minutes of the Omni Resort, Shelter Cove offers a number of restaurants, bars and shopping. Located on the sound sidde of the island, it offers picturesque views for those of us non-shoppers.

By Chuck B |

We stayed at the HHI DVC resort which is adjacent to the Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina. Several restaurant choices and lots of boats for the kids to take in. There are boat tours that can be booked out of here. Several of the restaurants have live music at night. At times that can be almost dueling music as you walk along the sidewalk taking it all in. Best to stop by here in the evening after the sun has set.

By Toccerpepper |

This was our first time to stay at Shelter Cove and it won’t be our last. We
Usually stay at Harbour Town by the light house. We really enjoyed Shelter Cove.
Very pretty and well kept up. Nice shops and restaurants to walk to. Best of all calm and quiet. Just enough activity to feel festive but not crowded or noisy at all. Wonderful place to ride bikes or stroll Along the Harbour, especially in
the evening. We will be back!

By rbritting |

Nothing there but some yachts and a couple of restaurants. Not a very exciting place to visit. Boring.

By bellabonga |

We go there every year in summer on a Tuesday evening because that is when the fireworks are. It is always a nice stroll along the harbor with its souvenir shops.

By Jeff A |

Our favorite Hilton Head area. Great for walking around and viewing million dollar yachts. Plenty of rstaurants, wine bar, and shoppes.

By Emily |

We did the Creek Cat tour. It was a lot of fun and beautiful scenery. Our guide Captain Nick did a great job. We saw dolphins and places where famous movies were filmed.

By Traveler750004 |

We went to Shelter Cove instead of the Harbor. It was VERY disappointing. Very few shops were opened and there was major renovations going on.

By BillSx2 |

This location is opposite the ocean side, facing the harbor and marsh. Large public area filled with shops and restaurants. To many to mention, and visit on one trip. This and Coligny Circle area are my favorite areas to hang out.

By ron hunt |

This is a great place to set , rest , and enjoy a beautiful setting. what a relaxing setting for taking pictures in the center of the island !!

By Helen C |

There's a good restaurant here and a place to get a boat ride. Nice view, pleasant for walks. At 13 Harbourside Lane, there is a bronze King Neptune Sundial that's worth a look-see.

By drdoc60 |

This is my favorite place to visit on Hilton Head Island. Access is easy off Business 278. I love the way the harbour and marina is laid out. The boats are close to the sidewalks. There is a nice mix of restaurants and shops there.

By Fdelg |

Great place for families ... don't miss the Tuesday night fireworks. All restaurants and bars are excellent and the free music is so much fun. Some nights are geared towards children, others towards adults. Look at the schedule, pick and night, make dinner reservations at any of the restaurants, and enjoy!

By joanndx10 |

Walked around in the evening. Cute shops as well as a few musicians entertaining. Love the sweet shop.

By Afarley14 |

This is a wonderful place for us. We go every season of the year; It’s quiet and tranquil, with some of my favorite restaurants. Every trip we must eat at Bistro 17, Ela’s, and Hilton Head Social Bakery. We always look forward to strolling along the harbor looking at all the boats and water. It’s a great place to relax and recharge.

By DebbieDoll |

Wonderful place to walk around, shop, look at the boats docked, sit and relax and people watch. Always enjoyable to stroll along.

By Debbie P |

Love walking around the circle around the harbor. Beautiful and picturesque setting. Christmas time is an extra treat as many boats are decorated. Only complaint is in the Winter, the shops close at 5PM. All restaurants however are open.

By Charles P |

Beautiful marina with nice fireworks show on Tuesday nights. Great place to bring family. If you have really young ones, there is a separate festival at Shelter Cove mall and park, a couple miles away, geared toward them with bouncy houses etc.

By bagel n |

Shelter Cove Harbour and Marina is an easy bike ride from Palmetto Dunes Resort. Parking can get full, so using bikes or the Dunes Shuttle can be a good option, especially when there is a special event such as Tuesday night fireworks. While kids will enjoy the ice cream and bakery items there, most restaurants are aimed at adults. Scott's Market would probably be the best option for families. Fun to bike or stroll and check out the boats or pick up a souvenir. The far end of the marina is where you'll find Outside Hilton Head and Bluewater Adventures (the original cat boat ride - it was amazing!). Be sure to take a selfie with the Neptune sundial!

Great location & very scenic & quiet. Some very good restaurants near by & many boats parked in the harbor.

By RDCS40 |

We rode our bikes to the marina from Coligny plaza area. Took about 30 mins with easy riding. We rode all the way to the end of the marina where you can rent kayaks or reserve different kinds of boat tours. Dolphin watching, and beach combing to name a couple of things you can do. We kayaked on Friday. The next day we got there early and got a ham & cheese croissant with coffee at the marina bakery. We took a 3 hour tour at 8:30am to Vanishing Island to beach comb. We found 7 sand dollars, a horseshoe crab, and sea-snail shell with a hermit crab inside. This was the perfect time of year as the summer crowd is gone & the holiday crowd shows up the week of Thanksgiving.

Not much is open in the morning except the bakery & the Marina store. It is great place to walk and enjoy the beginning of the day

Deep Sea Fishing, Kayaking, Pontoon boat renting or Dolphin Tours all can be done from this location.

Thank you for creating a fantastic marina. We have stayed in over 30 different marinas and Shelter Cove is one of the best. Thanks to a caring and professional staff, especially Jason the Dockmaster , and Shawn his tight hand man, our time here has been incredible.

The Marina is clean, has free laundry, free bicycles, and numerous restaurants to visit. And even better most of the restaurants have live, not to loud, bands. You find seafood, Italian, Mexican, and American cuisines all within walking distance. And all the restaurants have really great happy hour specials.

Very close by are another dozen or so restaurants and three grocery stores within a mile of the marina. With the free bicycles and baskets provisioning is really easy here. The location of the marina is special also, being located in the middle of the island. It is a short distance to everything, including the beach.

But it is the staff who makes the place. Jason and Shawn know all the local boat maintenance people and get us great pricing on maintenance repair and hull cleaning. Best of all pump outs are free for monthly renters. These two guys are extraordinary. Cant compliment them enough.

I am not kindling, this may be the best marina in America

A nice little harbor with shops and restaurants. San Miguels is a great Mexican restaurant there with great service and patio with live music.

By DLP |

We took a boat tour to daufuskie island from this location. Then we walked around to the shops and ate at a small cafe. It is a nice location to spend some time. The marina offered really pretty views especially at sunset.

By M K |

My husband and I took the sunset cruise on Oct 18th. It was an awesome cruise that was both informative about the water ways and the dolphins and oysters. Our guide was awesome and we even spotted some dolphins on our cruise. She made us feel very welcome and cruised thru in Giddy Up speed to hit the sunset at just the right points. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good time on a boat.

By thomasjY860OV |

I visited the marina several times. A great place to ride a bike, take a walk, read a book, view the boats, shop, eat at several taverns and enjoy coffee and decadent pastries.

By rotterdam0892 |

Lovely mix of restaurants and shops, lots of entertainment, fireworks if you come at the right time of year, home of Outside Hilton for a lot of their water based activities, beautiful sunsets. What's not to like?

By Harald L |

Places to stay, things to do, places to eat, paths to wander and beautiful vistas.
This harbour is a MUST to see and visit.

By Nancy |

Love to stroll here. The harbor is so peaceful and beautiful. Lots of boats, places to shop, eat and just sit.

By Julee D |

There's a lot to do at Shelter Cover Harbour & Marina. The best night to visit is Tuesday, but it will be packed because it's fireworks night so get there early! There are some great restaurants, shops, boat trips, boat rentals, bike rental and more. There's a wide walkway along the water to take a stroll. Also, its family friendly entertainment for the whole family in a large open out door area. A great place to visit when on your trip to Hilton Head.

By greg c |

A nice place to visit during one evening of your Hilton Head vacation. A variety of restaurants and entertainment.

By KuhnsGuy |

To walk the marina, stop by the shops and maybe grab a meal down by the berths. Limited ahopping array but great for a short walk or to enjoy looking at the yachts. King Neptune statue is always fun for the kids’ photo op. Parking can be tight at peak times so plan in advance. Clean and welcoming

By Kevin F |

Great show, these guys are always up for the moment. They really play to the family. On top of their game everyday

By Fran |

Unfortunately, we visited on a Sunday and their was only 2 shops open. One of the store employees informed us that Sunday is their turn over day and that most shops are closed because business is slow on Sunday.

By djcraft810 |

This is a great location. Golf is five minutes away, food is one minute away, music is one minute away, boats are right there, ice cream two minutes away. Prices are reasonable and the area is gorgeous. The only bad thing was our condo had a tv that wasn’t HD. We stayed for five days and everything is so close here it is amazing.

By l2brownie2 |

Took a 2 1/2 catamaran tour with captain Tom. Was so much fun! Saw dolphins too! Great time for all ages!

By jkmc54 |

I stayed very close to this spot last week. There is always something going on. We happened to see the wine and food festival and there was a band too. It was a great part of our vacation.

By Jiggy Canfield |

great shops, good restuaraunts, great view of the yachts...and lighthouse and more....Crazy crab is good, there are so many other choices on the other side that we have never even tried as well.

By coolwater5503 |

Visited the Marina Store and took a 2 hour guided Kayak touur with Outside Hilton Head. Very scenic and quiet.

By patricia y |

Arrived to see the lovely array of craft decorated for the season. Enjoyed the stroll along the promenade although many of the restaurants were closed for the season. Cute little shops and what appears to be an area where summer concerts might occur....Can't wait to go back to Hilton Head in the warmer season to enjoy all that it has to offer.

By Carol M |

Great place to spend some time. The climb up the lighthouse is well worth the time. It is filled with history. It is a good place to view dolphins from the pier.

By sfinestone |

The beautiful harbor, filled with very nice boats, forms the perfect centerpiece. Surrounding the harbor are a variety of shops, bars and dining spots, like Bistro 17.

By edwindonnao |

We visited Shelter Cove early this week. We just enjoy walking around there looking at the boats and looking at the shops. Great place to take kids to let them burn off some energy. Some of the restaurants have nightly music, and they also have programs on Thursday evenings for families. We have taken a dolphin tour out of Shelter Cove in the past, and have truly enjoyed it. Want a leisurely change of pace, go to Shelter Cove Harbour.

By Adventuressherwood |

After personally driving to and visiting most of the places to keep a boat on Hilton Head, we chose Shelter Cove because it appeared to be a warm, friendly and exciting environment. We have been docked in the basin for just about a month and we feel this is one of the best places we have ever visited (for us). We have been to over 15 ports this year, including Martha's Vineyard, Montauk, Block Iskand, Manhasset Bay, Port Jeff, Cape May, Atlantic City, Schaefers, Baltimore Harbor , Annapolis, Kent Island, Charlestown, Norfolk, Beaufotd and Shelter Cove is our favorite by far. There is no city life and if that is what you like then stick with Baltimore or Atlantic City. Shelter Cove is more akin to a resort where one night we watched 5 different musicians at the various food establishments. We have tried the food at each testaurabt including the local bakery and enjoyed every meal. Jason, Sean and Roselyn who are involved with the daily functions at Shelter Cove are top notch and the most friendly, accommodating, and available people whom we have ever met. We cannot say enough wonderful things about them or Shelter Cove. We have a 50 sport fish Convertible which draws 4.6 and initially we were apprehensive about Skull Creek and Broad Creek (access ways to Shelter Cove) but after giving up on our Furuno Plotter (to find depths in certain areas) and resorting to Navionics, we found depths on the plotter and chartered a course. At 2 hours from high tide the lowest depth was just over 7 feet and that was only for a moment at Broad Creek Marker 21 just outside the entrance to Shelter Cove. The names Skull Creek and Broad Creek initially gave us apprehension because where we come from Creeks are small. We feel they should be called Skull river and Broad river for certain areas have depths of 30 feet plus. It's not a place for Mega Yachts but it's ierfect for us.

By PaulyPauly2014 |

A quaint place at the marina with several restaurants and snack shops and a wine bar! Live music and just a great place to walk around and watch the sun set...
Charters and boat tours, fireworks on certain allocated days. Seasonal activities and much more. And a great ice cream and candy shop. Recommend visiting while in Hilton Head~

By Chuck B |

Several restaurants. Live music at them in the evenings. Live show during the summer on week nights geared to family. And lots of beautiful boats. Free parking close by.

By Angus M |

Walking around the Cove, looking at the yachts, having a delightful lunch outdoors. Must do if you are on the Island. Famous lighthouse and golf course. Great shops.

By temasteele |

This is a great marina for lots of activities and shopping. There are some nice restaurants and you can do lots of water sports as well.

By mikemichmor |

After dinner we went exploring and stopped at Shelter Cove. Not so interested in all the main stores but walked down to the water and found some of the restaurants we'd like to try. Unfortunately many of the boutique shops were closed and the one ice cream shop had people waiting in line out the door.

By Whitney R |

My family had so much fun visiting Santa yesterday! Thankful for Stephen and PD for informing us, great time!

By Sherry W |

We rented a pontoon for the morning. The pontoon was very nice. The staff very courteous.. it was a great experience.

By Susan C |

We decided to take a ride out from our hotel and ended up over at the shelter Cove. It is a special area full of delicious smelling restaurants with open air seating, specialty shops of gifts to bring home, friendly people and music in the background. A great place to walk and relax, people watch, and have a glass of wine and appetizers, we really enjoyed it.

By Bennett2014 |

I rented a kayak and it was a beautiful ride. Paddled through the marsh . I went during the off season so there was no worries about boats but could be different situation in summer.

By Connector58861157701 |

Easy booking, friendly staff, perfectly clean nice pontoon boat. Plus a 30% discount since it’s low season and this was a wonderful couple hours on the water.

By pam0357 |

Really nice area to walk around and look at nice boats or rent boats, jet skis, and etc. There were retail stores and restaurants, and nice clean public bathrooms. Great place to relax and enjoy the view. The Sunday we were there not far away was a Latin festival with live music and salsa dancing. The weather was a perfect 80 degrees.

By timesharetraveler11 |

During September and October from 6 to 9 pm this Harbor area has different music groups come in and provide beach music. It is one of our favorite things to do in HH.

By Katherine B |

Since we always stay at Shelter Cove during our Hilton Head holidays we are very familiar with the cove and the marina. The cove is totally protected from the elements and a very safe place to dock a boat of all sizes. They are some truly awesome yachts kept here at this marina, always a pleasure to go for a stroll and simply admire. There are shops here and restaurants as well as condos, live theatre and you have easy access to miles of walking and biking trails.

By Mark G |

This cozy little marina has well kept slips, power and water hook ups. The marina store is well equipped and they are very helpful if you need hardware off site. We were really pleased that such an all-star restaurant was located right in the marina. Ela's On The Water, why take an Uber anywhere when the best is right there.

By KYFirefighter |

We ate at Scott Fish. They had a nice duo singing during dinner. There is another nice restaurant next door. There's a shopping center and a Kroger next door.

By StigJim |

We’re not “boat people,” but this a fun place to see every type and size of pleasure craft imaginable. There’s a nice selection of shops and restaurants, too. Since we were here in the off season there was not much activity in the way of dolphin-watching cruises and that sort of thing, but there are numerous things like that which can booked at other times of the year. Definitely worth a visit.

By MEC15_12 |

We stayed at the Disney Vacation club on the other side of the marina and spent a great deal of time taking walks from one side and back again. The Disney side has wonderful views of the marsh and the sunsets from the Disney pier were stunning. Once you cross over the bridge to the other side you are greeted with many restaurants, boutique stores and typical area gift shops. A number of restaurants had live music at night and it was fun to listen to the different musicians.

By teampeapod |

Great spot to take in the beauty of the marina. Check out Social Bakery, Outside Hilton Head for excursions, and if you have kids the Shannon Tanner show. Less crowded than Harbour Town with some cute shops and decent food too.

By SavantIII_11 |

Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina is always an adventure which may require an hour of much more for a visit.

Take the time to walk the Marina.

By DScottRN |

We stayed across from the Marina at Disney's Hilton Head Resort. I fell in love with the area. Great place to take a quiet walk around the Marina and look at all the boats. There are many shops and places to eat in the area. I stopped over at Scott's Restaurant and Bar one evening for a drink and I also had a pastry at a local Bakery next door. At the time we visited there was construction going on but it wasn't too bad. Great place to visit in the morning or late in the evening. Wonder atmosphere.

By newenglander1952 |

We took an excursion out of the marina. It was great. Very clean place with nice shops. Worth going to.

By TheTennessean |

After years of visiting Hilton Head Island (actually since 1968!) we have settled on Shelter Cove as our preferred location for a stay. There are variety of condo rentals available, an excellent selection of very good restaurants, and a number of shops, as well as access to water-based sports and tours in the marina. The promenade around the marina is perfect for walks and the scenery is unmatched. Highly recommended.

By cengel02 |

Some nice shops to browse through. One new restaurant to open soon overlooking the marina. More high end shops and a Christmas shop. Also has a French bakery.

By scharfamily |

We spent an afternoon/evening here with our kids. We had a great time shopping, having dinner, looking at the boats, getting ice cream & watching the Shannon Tanner show. This will definitely be a yearly stop for us when we visit the island.

By pgepia |

Don't miss dinner at Poseidon and the nightlife on the rooftop.
The Marina store has everything you forgot to enjoy a day on the water,

By kiwimh |

Nice little marina with shopping and dining overlooking the water and the marina. Nice little restaurants

By Doris D |

There are plenty of restaurants, shops, and attractions at this destination. Many times we go there to see a featured show or band play at the park area of Shelter Island. It. Is a beautiful location.

By Malcolm McD |

Excellent place to hang out and watch all the yachts and marina activity. Lots of shops and eateries.

By hellerkm |

The only draw back to this location is that you have to pay a 6.00 admission fee for the day! It is where the Salty Dog is located!

By thaward |

Shelter Cove is a fun place to visit, and there is a lot to see and do. The marina is amazing and holds many boats and yachts, which are beautiful to see. There is a large number of stores for shopping, offering clothing, gifts and accessories. And check out the variety restaurants and cafes there, including Bistro 17 (French menu) and the scrumptious Hilton Head Social Bakery (amazing!), both facing the marina. Spend an hour or a day - you will enjoy the visit!

By dbusbee27 |

The 2 hour kayaking tour was a great way to spend the afternoon! The guide was relaxed and meet everyone’s needs.

By carcabbi92 |

Pretty place to visit. Loved walking along the water looking at all the boats, browsing through the shops. Lots of places to eat- we stopped at Scott’s (not bad), and Mediterranean Bar and Grill (yummy salad)

By Bob Mc |

I see Bucci's has closed for remodeling. This is a good sign, but more remodeling needs to be done or some new spots like a sports themed tavern.

By Regina Kirshbaum |

We’ve been enjoying the beautiful Shelter Cove Marina for 25 years. Why so dedicated? This is where Hilton Head got it oh so right. The lovely buildings are small enough to be quaint and largest enough to offer selections of great food and beautiful crafts. Here’s my favorites:
Nash Gallery. Truly a treasure on HHI. The selection of utilitarian art from some of America’s best artists makes this my go to for all weddings gifts. We’ve bought gifts for ourselves as well;)
Bistro17. Awesome food and entertainment.
Hilton Head Social. OMG! French confections and amazing lunch treats!

By Elizabeth B |

Great place to relax, grab some food, and shop a little ( or a lot) and don’t forget to get some ice cream before you leave....they even offer Dairy free ice cream! Big plus for me and best part it was delicious!

By tangi1 |

Shelter Cove was located just across the highway from our hotel. Nice to see the boats in the marina, there is plenty of retail for window shopping or even serious shopping. We had lunch there, it was a nice early afternoon visit before it got too busy.

By Chuck B |

There are lots of boats moored here. There is a singer who performs in a small amphitheater. His show is geared for kids. I think that he is there 6 nights of the week. We have been coming to HHI for over 20 years and our sons are now 16, 19, and 22 so we no longer have interest in his show but young kids seem to enjoy it. There are 3 or so restaurants here. You can arrange boat excursions. An ice cream shop and fudge shop is also located here. Some other shops are there, also.

By RICART75 |

We stopped here several times during our HH stay (usually to indulge in some pleasantly decadent bakery).
This is a comfortable and engaging area to explore; with interesting shops, some nice dining/dessert options, and a picturesque harbor for a backdrop.
We enjoyed strolling about, as well as sitting & taking in the views.
This is one of many great little retreats on HH.

By Going2Travel2 |

Shops, Restaurants and photo ops everywhere. A great place to visit with children - just to walk around and enjoy the sights.

By Reesa D |

Enjoyed a day of shopping, eating and resting. Very busy on the week ends. Lots of nice shops to brouse in. Very expensive stores.

By Kimmarie S |

We were in Hilton Head over Labor Day, and rented a pontoon boat from Shelter Cove Harbour. It was really the nicest pontoon boat we've ever rented, and we've rented plenty. It was clean with plenty of seating and cup holders. We had a great time! 4 hour rental was perfect! Highly recommend!

By Alison F |

We did the pirates cruise with a 5 and 7 year old and enjoyed ourselves! Nice little shops to look through. Most eating venues are outside,

By Chris L |

I had given my daughter a choice of few options and she picked this one. we rented a Patton boat from Shelter cover for 4 hours, almost wish I had rented it for 6.
The people there were very friendly, went over the boat with me and made sure I was comfortable with it before they let me take off.
Now this boat comes with some nice extras I thought. a good size cooler (make sure you buy ice for it though). AM/FM/ Bluetooth radio with good speakers. a Nice GPS so you not only know where your going but your depths and a depth finder.
Its a 22ft Patton with plenty of space for @ 8-10 people, we only had 4, so it was great. we went out stopped at a few spots, did some fishing, jumped off the boat and did some swimming, my Finance did some sun bathing while the kids played.
It was an absolutely perfect day. Everyone had a complete blast doing what we wanted on our schedule.
Oh and we got to see a bunch of Dolphins as a plus. came within @ 10-15 ft of the boat, which made my daughter happy as can be.
So yes, I would highly recommend this activity, and the price really isn't that bad, not for 4-6 hours of just doing what you want on the open water.

By tarheelblue822 |

It's a lovely place to eat dinner or walk along the boats (yachts I should say) but coming here to spend time shopping isn't worth it. Hardly any shops anymore.

By mekopp |

We recently spent a week at Palmetto dunes and visited several of the restaurants and outdoor bar areas in Shelter Cover. There is a nice mix of shops and restaurants. There is plenty of outside seating in all the restaurants. The fireworks were nice. There is a small outdoor bar at Scott's fish house where we watched the fireworks. The bartender told us the best view is to stand on the little bridge that connects the Disney resort to Shelter Cover. The harbor/marina looks to be the location for fishing and sightseeing cruises and for kayak/paddle board rentals. We did see a band here one night that was very good. Parking was adequate and its a good mix and families and adults. The boats in the marina are really something to see. Some are outstanding.

By Jackie H |

Nice spot for dinner, walking or riding bikes around the marina. One evening, we saw mud circles in the water and then a manatee! We had a very good meal at San Maquel’s.

By RICART75 |

Once again we enjoyed walking (and sitting) around this area. There are interesting shops, numerous gastronomic temptations, and the pleasing background of the harbor and its accompanying boats.
This is yet another pleasant option, which makes visiting HH such a joy.

By mike & judy |

This is a charming harbor offering great views, terrific restaurants, interesting shops, wonderful walking paths to parks and even more eateries. Many nights find the harbor abuzz with live entertainment. Check “events on Hilton Head” for a schedule of events

By Karen C |

Seven if us visited Hilton Head in April, 2024. We took a trolley to Shelter Cove, shopped and had dinner. We really appreciated the cauliflower pizza as it was the best I've had. Everyone else raved about their meals. Service was good though it was very busy.

By Maryliz1118 |

After visiting Shelter Cove shopping village we visited the marina & harbour and just loved it. It was fun watching the boats come in, there were many relaxing spots to sit & enjoy the view. We enjoyed browsing through the nice shops. A great place to visit & spend an afternoon.

By Steve |

Touristy little shopping area. Ice cream shop by the lighthouse is reasonably priced. There are rocking chairs in front of all the businesses. Nice place to sit and relax while eating ice cream.

By Latoyaa1 |

Beautiful place to walk around and explore. Aslo alot of neat shops and wonderful restaurants . I spent most evenings walking around the marina since its 2 mins walk from Marriotts Harbour Point and Sunset Pointe.

By podrozniczka60 |

The beautiful Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina always make a nice destination especially walking from the Palmetto Dunes villas.
The boats look the part adding to the marine charm of this area. There is a boating store at the end of walking promenade and many boats offer charters and rentals. Visitors stroll here, bikers bike, during Thanksgiving weekend a "choo-choo train" shuttle was a major attraction for the kids.
There are several good restaurants in the immediate area.
Fun destination with so much to do.

By daniel s |

Great place to shop, go our for dinner or a few drinks, and just walk around. Very scenic along the water. Many restaurants, something for everyone. Also place to sign up for boat trips etc.

By Matt B |

Came down on a Tuesday for the Harbour Fest and fireworks. There are shops and food options along the marina and there was a good entertainer for children. The fireworks were pretty lame though. I wouldn't do it again.

By Rob |

Jason Wheeler was awesome!! He took great care of myself and 4 high school boys who wanted to get on the water. The pontoon boat was perfect, and the boys had a blast boating around HHI.

Highly recommend Shelter Cove if you want to get on the water - ask for Jason!

You do have to go back through the gate if you're staying at SeaPines but this cute upscale area is a great place to visit or have lunch.

By hbhakh |

We took a boat tour from this marina and spent some time walking around beforehand. It's very nice and has several shops and restaurants. We didn't have any trouble parking but I could imagine that it gets tight as busy times.

By Laubon1 |

We visited one afternoon to leisurely shop and then have dinner. The shops were cute (but pricey). You could easily browse through most of the shops in an hour or two. So its great if you want to go before or after a meal. You can get ice cream at Kilwins after dinner. There is a really nice park along the marshes with a pretty fountain and areas for sitting. You have a choice of several restaurants. We had dinner at Poseidon. The food was quite good. It would be nice to have a larger selection of stores and restaurants. But we enjoyed our visit.

By spg742018 |

Times keep changing and so has the Harbour. Once was very bustling and now not so much. Still very pretty and quaint, clean and nice.

Other areas of the island including the near by plaza have created competition.

Expert instruction for the fundamentals of stand up paddle boarding in the 90 minute lesson. In no time she had us hopping up and down off the board and padding up and down the waterway.Would highly recommend this activity to anyone with a beginning yearn to paddle board.

By Artzen2017 |

Went kayaking n lots of other sea board adventures from renting little motorized boats to jet skis to hopping on a larger boat tours. Decent place to see dolphins or shop on the boardwalk area.

By maristgrad |

When we don't stay in Sea Pines we stay in one of the many condos in Shelter Cove. The view of the harbor is spectacular - especially the sunsets. There are several decent restaurants in Shelter Cove, live music during the summer, fireworks on Tuesday nights, and it's very convenient to grocery stores, shopping and additional dining. If you stay there, shuttle service is available to get you to the Palmetto Dunes beach club.

By LonestarSpartan |

We always ride our bikes from Shipyard to the Marina at Shelter Cove to see what's new. This year we booked a boat tour that will be leaving from the Harbour.

There are a number of restaurants and bars in the area. Great place to visit.

By Donna J |

Great broadwalk! We loved our visit at Shelter Cove! Restaurants were good and enjoyed the boat tours and Tuesday night fireworks! Close to everything on HH island.

By renarr |

We pedaled from Coligny to Shelter Gove. Great trails and saw alligators and turtles in the bridges over marshes. Enjoyed seeing Neptune statue and walking around the marina looking at the beautiful boats. Very peaceful and beautifully manicured grounds.

By Browncm6 |

The Tuesday night Harborfest activities for children were good but a bit overpriced for bouncy houses and shaved ice. The musical guest was entertaining for kids under the age of 11, but my older kids were bored waiting for the fireworks. The fireworks were kind of blah compared to local shows we have seen before. I'd definitely return to this area for dinner and strolling, but I probably won't stay for the fireworks show.

By Firstbrownie |

We made an evening stop here and didn’t see as much as we expected. I think we were confusing the Shelter Cove marina and the shopping center (which has a playground) which are two different places. They are on the same Main Street but some other places are in between.
We were there around 7p. A dolphin cruise was getting ready to leave. Our family of 6 enjoyed looking at all the boats. The kids really enjoyed seeing the giant statue at the front!!
There is a variety of restaurants along the walk but most didn’t seem children friendly. In fact, we only saw one other child while we were there. The clientele was mostly middle-older aged couples and parties.
It was a fun atmosphere but just not what we had in mind. Our total stay was about 30 minutes.

By map192 |

We had a dinner reservation but had to park a fair distance away from the restaurant and it was still 2 hours before the fireworks were scheduled to start. And they didn’t start on Beautiful setting on the bay. Perfect for watching the weekly fireworks. The food was excellent and I particularly enjoy time.

We have 2 teenagers who loved the experience. The time flew by. The fishing was great & it was so nice to see HHI from the water view.

Book it if you have time - you’ll be glad you did! The front desk was so helpful too!

Very nice place with a family feel and beautiful scenery. Everything seemed so clean and well maintained. Highly recommend!

We stayed at Palmaetto Dune, the Shelter Cove harbour and Marina just minutes away. . A very nice set up of restaurants m entertsurment and fireworks on every Tuesday evening in the summer ( very crowded ) . We took the family (11 , 5 kids ) for the evening private dolphin cruise ( superb 2 hrs ) and shark fishing for the older kids ( 3 hrs ) , very professional , nice public bathroom and clean. Good just to walk around

It is a nice place to visit in the evening for a meal and to walk around, and of course to take pictures.

By DarlaJimmy |

We really enjoyed climbing to the top of the Lighthouse as well as catching crabs on the pier. Ate at a quaint Cafe’ and checked out the shoppes.

By John T |

Was told to go to Shelter and Cove. We went on a Saturday mid morning and the place was deserted. Only the souvenir shops were open. and a bagel place.

By SavantIII_11 |

We like the ambience and restaurants of Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina.

Great area for walking and enjoying the views.

By billy b |

very avg, low crowds, gets dead early evening, would only go back for Ela" to eat, nothing else, maybe the walk around the marina for the view but that's about it

By tarabonnie |

Great tour with Captain Matt on the 2 person catamaran. We loved the marina area and enjoyed the history lesson and tour.

By Stephen S |

Awesome tour with Captain Nick! He taught us everything we needed to know about operating the boat. Very informative. Took us to great locations! We hatd lots of fun on board. Nick even packed water in a cooler for everyone. We would definitely do this again!

By mikemullinsbrake |

so many things to do in shelter cove. shopping ,dining ,adventure sports, rentals .we rented a condo and the view was impressive.cant miss with this location

By Brenda W |

First time here, loved it, will definitely recommend to my friends back home. All food has been excellent, staff nice, our villa was awesome. Only downside was rain, but we made the best of it.

By KMoran0501 |

This area has just about everything!! Great restaurants, Fireworks, entertainment, shopping, marina & activity’s!

By Linda Y |

This picturesque deep-water marina is surrounded by residential/lodging units and a variety of shopping and dining opportunities. We stopped in for a pleasant stroll on the boardwalk around the marina. The centerpiece of Shelter Cove: a 12-foot bronze statue of Neptune with his trident. It is said to be the world’s largest figurative sundial. Free parking; no gate fees.

By Chris P |

Fun place to see all types of boats while walking around looking at shops and trying to decide whether to eat Mexican, French, Mediterranean or Seafood. Bistro 17 and Ella’s are top choices, but the beer is cold at San Miguel’s.

By bogeyks |

Biased review because I own two villas there. Pure beauty and charming place with all you could ever dream of. Fabulous restaurants, great shopping, spectacular sunsets set in the perfect location on the island. Hometown feel with much to do and enjoy.

By Ed W |

Nice location, beautiful harbor views.. ... ELA's .. Wonderful food and ambiance... and interesting galleries... Multiple food choices out over food ~5 sections...

By M00se1976 |

This place has several things that are going on. First, you can walk around and look at the boats. There are several shops around. One store that my wife loves. I think it is the Christmas Store. She does buy a few things there. Also, there are several cool restaurants there as well. There are also few charter boats. (Mostly during the summer)
It is very relaxing strolling around.

By Bonnie S |

Some great restaurant choices here. Lots of shops, a great bakery, and a provisions store located in the harbor.

By Travelcritic78 |

Great little shops, sociable shop owners, beautiful view of bodacious boats. Lots of choices with restaurants.

By Bob D |

There are 5-6 different dining options. Walk around 1st to find the one that meets your evenings needs. We always go in Septemebr and you don't need reservations then. It's also a great place to take an evening walk after dining.

By LovesHiltonHead |

It is a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy the scenery, shops, restaurants, and bars. They have entertainment some evenings.

By Davis Fisher |

We visit Shelter Cove each time we come to Hilton Head. It is a great place to shop, dine and walk. It also makes a very nice bike ride. Visit after dark at the holidays and you can see lights on several boats. It is very nice to see the reflection of the lights in the water.

By Christine C |

Planned gatherings, music events, fireworks, lots of restaurants and shops. The Cove surrounds a marina with both private and rental. Catch the boat here to see dolphins.

By PVonthemove |

We visited this shopping / dining area expecting to spend a couple hours browsing the stores and walking along the water . We spent less than 30 minutes. There are several uninteresting shops and some very good restaurants housed here. To me, the only reason to visit here would be to dine.

By Bluebloodtraveler |

Great place to wander and look at the view and the boats. I had dinner at San Miguels and the food was very good.

By Craig H |

Went to the concert by King Neptune. It was great. A wonderful experience at Shelter Cove. The shhops, eating places, view of the harbor add to the ambience of the Cove. The newer North side has good restaurants and shops as well. A favorite of ours on HHI.

By buckeye_guy24 |

Go to Poseidon's for dinner - great service and excellent food. The swordfish was the best and it's a great location to head outside and watch fireworks.

By BradT1981 |

We’ve been coming to HHI for a long time and we absolutely love coming to Shelter Cove and enjoying Shannon Tanner and the shops. It’s our family tradition and I’d say if your like us it can become yours too!

By lee9 |

Love this place....nice shops, great restaurants, fun play ground, lots of seating areas & free parking. The higjlight is the great area to watch the HHI sunsets!

By Pashmore2 |

This was at the least, a bit disappointing. For $20 a Head for a sunset 90 min tour, the accommodations were less than the best. Positives: Wheelchair accessible by a Walmart plank for $20 (as the captain stated), dolphins were viewable, tour left on time. Negatives: No one outside to take photos of the patrons, a boat that needed major renovation, it was a long walk to the pier and not easy to make by wheelchair, and the tour ended 30 mins early. Will pass on this attraction next time.

By JetSettinBetty |

Shelter Cove is a very nice, upscale shopping center on the marina. There is usually live entertainment, and they have fireworks every Tuesday.

By Connie O |

We went to Shelter Cover for 2 evenings, shopped at the very interesting stores and had dinner. The best convenience of this location is the Breeze shuttle which we took both times to Coligney Shopping. Kilwin's ice cream was standing room only both evenings with families enjoying their treats.

By Sandy J |

I found this to be a great place to go and hang out. we checked out the boats in the harbor and meet a lot of new friends.

By melissasandstrom |

We came Here to walk around for a little to kill time. We got there around 5 and decided to walk around to look at the boats. We walked around and enjoyed the fresh air. There were tons of restaurants with bars. I’m sure once the weather gets warm it would be a hopping place. We actually came later and ate at the restaurant Ella’s. It was a great place to eat.

By cricketg1 |

This is a very close second to Harbour Town. No entrance fee is a plus. The shops are unique with pleasant sales people. One of my favorite is Francescas. Several inviting restaurants with pleasurable water views. Yummy Kilwin's ice cream can be found. My favorite dining spot is Scott's Fish Market.......go every year!

By k5tm |

We enjoyed walking around and shopping while we waited for our dolphin boat tour to begin. Recommended.

By Susan B |

There are so many restaurants, bars and great shops in this area that you could spend days here and not experience it all. The harbor and marina area is home to some really fantastic boats. The sunsets are fabulous and there are lots of fun spots to sip a cocktail while watching the sun sink.
And something that may sound odd but was appealing to me is how clean the marina is.
All of Hilton Head is kept immaculately clean but it was nice to see it extend to the marina area as well.

By Mikki1269 |

We stayed in a boat in the marina and loved it. Scotts fish market and another mexican restaurant both had live music. The atmoshphere was great, people are super friendly, and the restrooms are very accesible.

By Austin T |

Awesome experience with Captain Nick. He was very outgoing and generous. Great knowledge of Hilton Head itself along with his knowledge of marina life. Treated everyone very kindly. Will definitely recommend Nick and the Shelter Cove Marina to everyone I know looking to take a vacation.

By mcbusymom |

Nice to stroll. Well-maintained. Good variety of shops & restaurants. Parking has it's challenges & directional signage isn't great.

By Lisa J |

A great treat during our Hilton Head stay. Tuesday evenings offer a fun family evening with activities for the kids and fireworks to round out the night.

By GJP |

My wife and I were looking for a place to eat on Sunday evening and we found Shelter Cove. We walked around the harbour area and did some shopping and we decided to stay and have dinner. We found Ela's On the Water at the far end of the harbour, we checked out the menu asked if they could accomadate us (we did not make a reservation). The food and the wine selection was great. While walking back after dinner we saw 3 Manatee's swimming near the yachts.

By joanlogsdon |

Love shelter cove. Is very pretty. Like looking at marina and all the boats. Good shops and good places to eat. Really nice place. Have been here several times. Will keep coming back.

By Megan |

We strolled down the marina and found some really cute shops and restaurants. It wasn't packed and everyone was friendly and nice. The two statues are amazing.

By SpencerCoffman |

I love visiting Shelter Cove, it is a great place to walk around and look at all of the boats. The shops are fun to visit and there are always some cool birds to watch as they gobble up the fish scraps from all of the fishing boats.

By Btillm |

Really nice spot to have dinner and just walk around. The bakery outstanding. Great views or the inlet.

By knoxtntraveler_11 |

Lovely area with shops, restaurants, a full marina and gorgeous flowers. The King Neptune statute was interesting with the sundial. Bring your camera!

By Chris B |

Good shops, good food, good atmosphere. Shelter cove is a place to spend a day of vacation. The shops are nice/ clean/ not tourist traps.

By Amy W |

We took a 3 hour catamaran tour with Captain Nick and it was one of the most fun experiences ever! Got to see several dolphins, learned a lot of history, and saw the island of Hilton Head and the surrounding islands in a whole new way. Very fun, very safe. We were able to take drinks and our phones. Captain Nick took lots of photos of the family and scenery and emailed them to us later. It was so much fun. Would highly recommend. We’ll definitely be back!

By lori c |

There was only about 6 boats that were lite up with lights. With most of the stores closed . It really was not worth even going to. A big disappointment.

By mrshanning308 |

We rented a pontoon boat and had the best day! Excellent views, dolphins everywhere ! Highly recommend renting the boat great day!

By Barton6060 |

We stayed at the Disney HHI resort which adjacent to Shelter Cove. There are shops, restaurants, and marina services. We booked a sailboat that left from this cove. Very convenient just a short 10 minute walk from our room. This area has cool vibe and lots to do.

By Leslie Gaines |

We took a dolphin tour from this harbor. The tour was lovely, but the harbor activities are limited. Not enough shops and restaurants.

By John B |

Excellent restaurants, shops and great place to walk. We really enjoyed our stroll through the area, very refreshing and excellent views of the marina.

By MomiTo3Boys |

We loved being here with our kids in the evenings. The view is so beautiful. You can walk around and get in your daily exercise while seeing a beautiful view of the marsh. We stop in here each time we go to HHI.

By Al S |

Very nice area, great beach and amenities. Not as fancy as Seaside but very pleasant. Shops are expensive just like everything else on HH.

By wagner65 |

This area is hard to find, but is worth the effort. Talk a walk along the waterfront. There are nice stores and restaurants. There are boats for hire, and, during the Summer, live entertainment during most evenings. There is a nice fireworks dispay once a week during the Summer months.

By Btsygrl |

The beauty of Shelter Cove is unfortunately ruined by the Shannon Tanner musical chair kiddie shows 4 nites a week. Who is in charge of using this low level high decibel disaster entertainment? This venue is exclusively designed for children but not adults. He needs to transfer his show across the pond to the disney resort across the marina. Better to have no music than to hear that voice. I can't believe the Shelter Cove residents and shop/restaurant/boat owners allow this type of noise pollution.

By ronaldrT3860UD |

Among our many visits there we especially enjoyed the Thursday night concert. Tone of people, food and drinks. Bring your beach chair and dancing shoes. A great night out !

By BrookeandJosh |

The little dance party before was cute but I was expecting a pretty decent firework show. It barely lasted 10 minutes. Kind of disappointed.

By Michelle D |

My family took the Catboat tour on our vacation in Hilton Head. It was so much fun!!! I would highly recommend this tour, we laughed the whole time. I don't think it would be possible to not enjoy this activity. Our Captain Nick was great too. Worth every penny & we will do it again!

By MaggieB |

Planned to stop for a few minutes to check out an art shop. Stayed for 2.5 hours! Beautiful walk around the marina, many great shops with unique, local flavor. Will absolutely be back here...tonight in fact, to check out live music at a charming looking pub!

By Bruce M |

We went over to grab lunch and ended up going a Dolphin tour after we walked around this beautiful marina. It’s easy to find parking sand they are bikes to rent and a lot of yours that you can sign up for with great discounts especially for those of us who wait to book until we get to the destination. Not a lot of choices for food on the marina but they are a lot to choose from close by. Hilton Head definitely has a lot to offer and this sure was one place I am glad we stopped by.

By laceylouise |

Overpriced shopping, some expensive boats to look at and an extremely hot part of the island with no breeze pretty much sums up the shelter Cove Harbor and Marina for me.

By Sherill P |

These people where amazing after only be on the boat for ten minutes had a Panic attack They was super nice and even reimbursed me all my money back

By Susan B |

This is a great little marina to walk around. It has a few restaurants to choose from, a nice sports bar, cute shops and an excellent French bakery - don't miss the bakery.

By Lisa M |

Lots of options here for dining and shopping. You can also rent boats or kayaks. We saw manatees in the water in this area they are amazing animals! Parking is limited take the first spot you find.
